Transcript
- 0:33Surprise, surprise, surprise.
- 0:35He's back for another day.
- 0:37Because we had to cut it short yesterday.
- 0:41Corey is back in the house.
- 0:43Because there was so much to talk about
- 0:45yesterday.
- 0:47So much to talk about yesterday.
- 0:48We barely got to anything.
- 0:50And I had that stupid meeting.
- 0:53And I was texting you like...
- 0:57The meeting was scheduled for thirty
- 0:58minutes.
- 1:00It ended up going fifty three minutes.
- 1:02I say an hour later and not nothing
- 1:07relevant occurred after minute eight.
- 1:11But you do know how important those people
- 1:13are now.
- 1:14We do.
- 1:16They have hired that will not hired us.
- 1:19They've reached out to us.
- 1:21So we have a job site to look
- 1:24for work.
- 1:27They reached out to us to say, hey,
- 1:30can you put a splash page about our
- 1:32program helping specific workers in the
- 1:38field that they kind of work with?
- 1:40I don't want to call them out on
- 1:42the show because I do like getting a
- 1:44paycheck every two weeks.
- 1:47As it turns out, yeah.
- 1:49And so they wanted us to create a
- 1:52splash page
- 1:54on our site so that their workers could
- 1:56come look for work on our page.
- 2:00But during the process told us how great
- 2:02their website was.
- 2:10Why are you reaching out for us to
- 2:12help you out?
- 2:13If you're so good at it,
- 2:15just take it on.
- 2:16I don't need the extra work.
- 2:20I need you to make me a cake.
- 2:21I mean, my cake is great.
- 2:24It's fantastic,
- 2:25but I just need you to make me
- 2:26one.
- 2:28It's not because mine isn't delicious,
- 2:31but I just need you to make me
- 2:33one for some reason.
- 2:38It sounds like they have funds that they
- 2:39have to burn through,
- 2:40otherwise they won't get them allocated
- 2:42next year.
- 2:45I don't think their site's as good as
- 2:47they think it is, but okay.
- 2:52But before we get into the CrossFit stuff,
- 2:55one more update on my mom's story.
- 2:59So we get a call back from the
- 3:02superintendent of the school after we had
- 3:06asked why there was no ambulance called
- 3:08for her.
- 3:09Yes.
- 3:11The response was,
- 3:14my mom is a cafeteria worker.
- 3:16She's a lunch lady.
- 3:20Their response was,
- 3:21we don't have a policy for cafeteria
- 3:23workers.
- 3:26What about human beings?
- 3:27They're contracted in.
- 3:30What about people?
- 3:33So you're telling me the UPS guy comes
- 3:35in with a hundred pound package,
- 3:38trips and falls on your floor.
- 3:41You got a policy for that?
- 3:44Bro.
- 3:46I...
- 3:49The woman fell and hit her head on
- 3:52the floor.
- 3:54Hit her head.
- 3:58And you picked her up and asked her
- 4:00friend to come pick her up and take
- 4:01her to the hospital.
- 4:04First of all, aside from the obvious,
- 4:08how do you even know she has a
- 4:09friend to call?
- 4:13like that seems like it'd take a whole
- 4:14lot more work to get to than going
- 4:16nine, one, one.
- 4:18We just have that.
- 4:18Like what,
- 4:20what if a parent comes in for a
- 4:21teacher's conference trips and falls and
- 4:24hits their head?
- 4:24You're going to pick them up and say,
- 4:26go about your way.
- 4:29We did Dad's on Duty a couple weeks
- 4:32ago at my daughter's school.
- 4:33I high-fived seven hundred kids in the
- 4:36morning.
- 4:36If one of us dads that had been
- 4:38there would have fell down and busted her
- 4:40head on the concrete outside,
- 4:41I can guarantee you the ambulance would
- 4:44have been there within ten minutes.
- 4:46Tops.
- 4:48Because common sense.
- 4:49Hey, this dude's hurt.
- 4:51We can't do anything.
- 4:53Somebody call an ambulance.
- 4:56When someone hits their head,
- 4:57you can't see a brain bleed.
- 4:59You can't see a fracture.
- 5:03It's just common.
- 5:04Medical professional, an EMS person,
- 5:06come in and assess the situation.
- 5:09Put them on a backboard,
- 5:10whatever it needs to be,
- 5:12and transport them to a place where they
- 5:13can do imaging.
- 5:18Put them in the vehicle specifically
- 5:19designed to haul people to the hospital,
- 5:23right?
- 5:27uh hey jody it's oh no wrong one
- 5:30uh that school lacks common sense scary
- 5:32thought those people were teaching
- 5:33children absolutely very yeah it is so so
- 5:39dumb um it's outrageous he's practicing
- 5:43c-o-y-a it's common human decency but how
- 5:47does that cover his ass they don't have
- 5:48a policy
- 5:50It is an accident that happened in your
- 5:52facility, on your grounds,
- 5:55and my mom is like the tenth person
- 5:58to fall because of these floors being
- 6:01sticky.
- 6:04So there is other precedents happening.
- 6:07The liability is you can cover your ass
- 6:10all you want with this policy BS,
- 6:12but you're going to get sued.
- 6:14It's like signing a waiver at a gym.
- 6:17That's great.
- 6:18You signed a waiver.
- 6:18Good for you.
- 6:22so uh anyway anyway moving on moving on
- 6:29that's the issue i got to deal with
- 6:31um but it it just how's she feeling
- 6:35Uh, she's much yesterday.
- 6:37She was more sore than the day it
- 6:40happened.
- 6:40Right.
- 6:40Just like the day after a car accident.
- 6:44So the shiner on her eye is really
- 6:48bad.
- 6:49It's spread.
- 6:50So when I talked to her on Tuesday,
- 6:54uh,
- 6:54it was just contained like right in like
- 6:56the eye socket.
- 6:57Now it's done though.
- 6:59Like, cause it's healing.
- 7:00It's spread out like down the cheek and
- 7:03around, uh,
- 7:05Um, so, um, but she,
- 7:09she went to workers comp,
- 7:11she's doing all that kind of stuff to
- 7:13going out all the paperwork.
- 7:16So, uh,
- 7:19a waiver is basically two pages of,
- 7:20please don't consider suing me.
- 7:28So, um,
- 7:30what do we want to talk about today?
- 7:36feel like you got everything out yesterday
- 7:39i mean we've met dude i've always got
- 7:41something to say about something well
- 7:44first thing i wanted to talk about is
- 7:47i watched the end of the pat fowler
- 7:50video with coffee pods and wads i was
- 7:52only about halfway through when we talked
- 7:54yesterday everybody said i had to see the
- 7:56last ten minutes or so yeah it gets
- 7:59it gets pretty uh it's pretty pretty crazy
- 8:02at the end um he said some things
- 8:05that really kind of made me scratch my
- 8:08head and and yes the theme of yesterday
- 8:11must have been delusion
- 8:14We had the Will Morad delusional thing
- 8:17going on with that the games would be
- 8:19a tour stop on the WFP.
- 8:21And then we have Vellner saying that
- 8:25everybody is taking things out on the
- 8:27athletes.
- 8:29And they're not giving it a chance.
- 8:31I've really not heard anybody bash the
- 8:33athletes.
- 8:34Yeah.
- 8:38Sprague was on with Savan this morning,
- 8:40and Savan was saying,
- 8:42and I was agreeing with, like,
- 8:44I don't give a shit what you do.
- 8:46Like,
- 8:47if you want to compete in every
- 8:48competition that rolls around,
- 8:50outstanding, good for you.
- 8:53But don't... And forgive me,
- 8:58I'm trying to gather this...
- 9:02Don't do it and then act like you're
- 9:04doing it out of, you know,
- 9:06choose one or the other and then act
- 9:07like you're doing it for a reason.
- 9:08That's not actually like, say why you say,
- 9:11just be honest with it.
- 9:13Hey, this is why I'm doing this.
- 9:14Cool.
- 9:15Good for you.
- 9:16Moving right along.
- 9:21I found that unusual.
- 9:23Right.
- 9:23And I,
- 9:23and I watched them on this morning in
- 9:24the opening with him and spray gone the
- 9:26whole thing.
- 9:28And I'm trying not to just rehash what
- 9:30they did,
- 9:30because I thought they did make excellent
- 9:33points.
- 9:33Absolutely.
- 9:35What I will say is that him saying
- 9:39that the people who chose to just do
- 9:41WFP have been...
- 9:46unfairly criticized.
- 9:49And I just,
- 9:50I have not seen it toward the athletes.
- 9:52Now, maybe he's getting DMS.
- 9:54Maybe he's seeing something that I don't
- 9:56see,
- 9:56but I haven't really seen the direct
- 9:59attack on the athletes that chose just to
- 10:01do that one.
- 10:04I doubt he's getting DMS because he said
- 10:05he barely gets on social media anymore.
- 10:07Sure.
- 10:08Which is another weird thing to say,
- 10:10that if you are barely getting on social
- 10:12media,
- 10:12then how would you even know or come
- 10:15to the conclusion that people are shitting
- 10:17on the athletes for choosing one over the
- 10:19other?
- 10:22I don't know.
- 10:24CrossFat says,
- 10:25I guess I can only see Pat's friend
- 10:27died,
- 10:28and Pat can't get past CrossFit with that,
- 10:31and so his rational decision-making is
- 10:34gone.
- 10:37Maybe that's what it is.
- 10:39But with Pat, I know why he left.
- 10:41He told us why he left.
- 10:43Okay, I can respect that.
- 10:46You went and you did it, fine.
- 10:50But I don't think people have attacked him
- 10:51for that.
- 10:52They may have attacked him for foolish
- 10:54things he said with the PFAA or things
- 10:59that didn't make sense or contradictory
- 11:01comments, which I think is...
- 11:04So let's take one step back.
- 11:07So you have the athlete piece, right?
- 11:08Now you have the whole people attacking
- 11:12unfairly the WFP.
- 11:15And I thought Peter had made a pretty
- 11:16good point to say that they came out
- 11:24and said, we're going to do it better.
- 11:27When you come out and say you're going
- 11:29to do it better,
- 11:30you yourself are setting the bar way up
- 11:33here.
- 11:35Right?
- 11:36Because you're coming out with an edge
- 11:37saying, because of this,
- 11:39we are going to do it better.
- 11:42And then you keep messing up.
- 11:45And that's one aspect of it.
- 11:48But the true problem with the WFP is
- 11:51they keep lying and then contradicting
- 11:54themselves.
- 11:57And they're trying to make it seem like
- 11:59the media are doing this.
- 12:03And that the media,
- 12:04they don't criticize CrossFit,
- 12:07but they're criticizing them.
- 12:09Oh, my gosh.
- 12:10If you have watched this show, Savon,
- 12:13Pillar,
- 12:15CrossFit has been hitting the nose way
- 12:18more times than WFP in the last five
- 12:20years.
- 12:26Weekly.
- 12:28I would say weekly.
- 12:30Sometimes daily.
- 12:32I have never seen a decision HQ has
- 12:34made.
- 12:35The design of this season has been
- 12:37horrific for CrossFit.
- 12:40Now they had a good CrossFit games.
- 12:43It was very enjoyable.
- 12:45And it's,
- 12:46I think bounced back a lot of the
- 12:48negative publicity because it came with a
- 12:51new ad campaign.
- 12:53It came back with forging elite fitness.
- 12:55It came back with a lot of things
- 12:57around that games time to kind of get
- 12:59you to rally around that.
- 13:02But the semifinal season was a complete
- 13:04mess.
- 13:08Yeah.
- 13:08And that.
- 13:10Everybody called it out from the initial
- 13:13get-go from when it was announced.
- 13:14Oh,
- 13:14we're going to do the online qualifier in
- 13:16the middle of the live ones.
- 13:18You're going to do what?
- 13:20And you won't know the results for two
- 13:21weeks.
- 13:21So when you're doing these other
- 13:23semifinals,
- 13:24we don't really know who's qualifying
- 13:26until those final results happen.
- 13:28Might make a difference.
- 13:29Might not.
- 13:31Who knows?
- 13:32Nobody does.
- 13:33And again, like you said, from day one,
- 13:37as soon as that was announced,
- 13:38people were like, this is insane.
- 13:42This is insane.
- 13:43This is crazy.
- 13:44Why are y'all doing this?
- 13:45This shouldn't be like this.
- 13:46Over and over and over and over again.
- 14:00Bro.
- 14:00Jenny said it the best.
- 14:01It's Delulu.
- 14:03And it seems to be a contagious disease.
- 14:07Lately.
- 14:11Well, it's the echo chamber effect, right?
- 14:13Or like, who was it?
- 14:17Somebody said it in the comments a minute
- 14:18ago.
- 14:22The whole,
- 14:22why aren't you outraged with me type deal.
- 14:25Well, because I don't care.
- 14:27Or because my outrage doesn't look like
- 14:29yours.
- 14:30And that's okay.
- 14:31Like, if that's what you want to do,
- 14:32dude, nobody's knocking you for it.
- 14:35Do what you want to do.
- 14:37That's perfectly fine.
- 14:39That right there.
- 14:41Nobody wins with you.
- 14:42Why aren't you outraged with them?
- 14:45That's a hard fact.
- 14:47If something bothers Scott so much...
- 14:52That he needs to speak on it and
- 14:54say something about it.
- 14:55He's not going to drag me with it
- 14:57to say the exact same thing.
- 14:59Forty five times in a row.
- 15:01It's just not how Scott operates.
- 15:02It's not how most people operate.
- 15:04I would venture to think most rational
- 15:06people.
- 15:06Right.
- 15:07You're not going to just I don't
- 15:09understand why you're not so mad.
- 15:10Well,
- 15:11because that doesn't affect me in any kind
- 15:12of way.
- 15:13Like, I don't.
- 15:14Why would I get mad at something like
- 15:16that?
- 15:16Why would I get mad at stuff that
- 15:17is beyond my level of control?
- 15:22When you come out and say,
- 15:23we're not competing with CrossFit,
- 15:26and then two weeks later,
- 15:27you're trying to steal CrossFit affiliates
- 15:30to become affiliates of your program.
- 15:37That's where you lose people.
- 15:39Within like two weeks.
- 15:41Right.
- 15:45You can't say that over here and then
- 15:47do this.
- 15:49Yeah, we're not going to,
- 15:50it's like a restaurant,
- 15:55a fast food restaurant opening across the
- 15:56street from Subway saying that we're not
- 15:59really in competition with them.
- 16:00There's plenty of people to go around.
- 16:02We are going to sell the exact same
- 16:03sandwiches and carry the exact same meats
- 16:06and basically have more or less the same
- 16:09type things.
- 16:09We're going to tweak it just a tiny
- 16:11bit.
- 16:12We're not in contact.
- 16:13We're not in contact, you know.
- 16:17It's not competition.
- 16:18We're not competing with CrossFit,
- 16:19but sometime in the future,
- 16:21I could see them as a tour stop
- 16:23of ours.
- 16:24That's not still...
- 16:27If that's not competing,
- 16:28that's saying we're going to crush them to
- 16:30the point that their only survival is to
- 16:33become a tour stop.
- 16:34They're going to beg to come and be
- 16:36a part of our thing.
- 16:41I...
- 16:47do i i'm gonna go with you i'm
- 16:49gonna go with jenny's choice of word there
- 16:52it's absolutely that it's a bold strategy
- 16:57cotton it is a bold strategy and then
- 17:04going on podcast and calling things petty
- 17:06arguments it was created
- 17:15out of a petty argument.
- 17:18WFP was created out of a petty argument.
- 17:21You didn't like the way CrossFit did
- 17:23things.
- 17:24You didn't like the way they handled
- 17:26Lazar's death.
- 17:28And so you decided that you were going
- 17:31to create a competitor to take advantage
- 17:34of that and build a place for other
- 17:37people to come where they were taken care
- 17:39of much better.
- 17:42For athletes by athletes.
- 17:45Now, we may have some broken bikes.
- 17:47We may have a broken GHD.
- 17:50We may, you know, who knows?
- 17:53You may have to work out in the
- 17:53dark.
- 17:55Or not.
- 17:57But we're going to take care of you
- 17:57better.
- 18:01And so I've said this once before.
- 18:06When your foundation is building it out of
- 18:09hate,
- 18:11that's not a foundation to stand on for
- 18:13long term.
- 18:14No.
- 18:15That's not a business plan.
- 18:19The games grew organically out of from the
- 18:23very first time when Greg said,
- 18:27let's have a little festival.
- 18:28Let's see who can do these better.
- 18:31We'll do a couple of workouts in a
- 18:32day,
- 18:32which at the time was absolutely insane.
- 18:34And then year over year,
- 18:36it just got bigger.
- 18:38Now let's have a qualifying progress to
- 18:41get a step,
- 18:42whatever you want to call it,
- 18:44qualifying progression to get here.
- 18:45Oh,
- 18:46we need to change that up a little
- 18:46bit because we're not getting the right
- 18:48people.
- 18:48Oh, well,
- 18:49now it's so big we need to add
- 18:50stuff to it.
- 18:51It's going on over twenty years.
- 18:55And then, oh,
- 18:56I don't like the way they did one
- 18:57thing, so two things, three things.
- 19:02So instead of maybe
- 19:05being the change that I want to see
- 19:07in it, advocating for it,
- 19:09seeing what will happen for it,
- 19:10which is going to create an entirely new
- 19:12thing and act like we're not recreating
- 19:15what's already there.
- 19:18And in the meantime,
- 19:19we're going to claim that we're doing it
- 19:21bigger and better,
- 19:24even though that's not necessarily,
- 19:27it's not.
- 19:27And then you find out halfway through, oh,
- 19:29this is not nearly as easy as I
- 19:31thought it was going to be.
- 19:34I do think Will admitting that when he
- 19:37was talking to Pedro the other day was
- 19:38pretty big of him going, oh, yeah, no,
- 19:41it turns out this is way harder than
- 19:42I thought it was going to be.
- 19:43Well, yeah,
- 19:44of course it is because you had no
- 19:45idea what you were doing to begin with,
- 19:47which is fine.
- 19:49Jump right in.
- 19:50Both feet, you got money behind you.
- 19:52And it's not yours.
- 19:54Who gives a shit?
- 19:54Go for it.
- 19:56But don't come out and say it's going
- 19:57to be this great, phenomenal,
- 19:59fantastic thing when you have absolutely
- 20:02no idea what you're building or trying to
- 20:04build.
- 20:05Vellner's try is deflecting away from the
- 20:08attempted defect and dividing fans and
- 20:11trying to drive other athletes away from
- 20:13the game season.
- 20:16I think that is what they have been
- 20:17trying to do.
- 20:19I think that if you listen to Pat
- 20:23in that interview,
- 20:25other than the last ten minutes,
- 20:26he was softening his stance and saying,
- 20:28maybe I'll do the CrossFit game season,
- 20:30but it depends on who owns it next
- 20:32season.
- 20:32Right.
- 20:34Which that's fair.
- 20:36A lot of people are saying that.
- 20:38Yeah.
- 20:39But also, I think,
- 20:43and maybe this is my athlete brain kicking
- 20:45in a little bit,
- 20:45but I think part of it has to
- 20:46do with he's thirty five.
- 20:50His best years, more than likely,
- 20:52are behind him at this point.
- 20:54WFP, he can go over there.
- 20:57He's already a part of it.
- 20:58He knows he's going to make money,
- 21:00whatever.
- 21:00He can still keep doing the thing he
- 21:02wants to do without having to come in
- 21:05or the master's category where you know
- 21:06you're not going to get the recognition,
- 21:08much less the money, sponsorships,
- 21:10whatever the case may be.
- 21:12And it's hard to let go of.
- 21:13So it's real easy to be petty at
- 21:15that point.
- 21:17Yeah.
- 21:18I want to speak to Sean's thing here.
- 21:21How to handle an athlete's death wasn't a
- 21:22petty argument,
- 21:23but using that as a knee-jerk excuse to
- 21:25start the WFP is shallow.
- 21:27Why I call it a petty argument is
- 21:32having an athlete die had to be one
- 21:34of the hardest things for anyone in the
- 21:37concert space to ever have to handle.
- 21:40Nobody anticipated this day coming.
- 21:43Nobody thought this day was becoming,
- 21:45and they were being judged so severely for
- 21:48how they reacted in the hours after that
- 21:51occurred.
- 21:53My point about petty is everybody that is
- 21:56criticized CrossFit in the way they
- 21:57handled it have never told me how it
- 22:00should be,
- 22:01should have been handled differently.
- 22:03Ben Bergeron, when asked,
- 22:05how do you handle it differently then?
- 22:07Well, I don't know.
- 22:08And that was six months after the fact.
- 22:10You've had six months to think about it
- 22:12and you still can't come up with a
- 22:13way to do it better.
- 22:15I'll give you one better because I
- 22:16finished that statement for you.
- 22:17Ben not only said, I don't know.
- 22:19He said, I don't know,
- 22:20but I would have done it better.
- 22:22right no you don't like everybody they're
- 22:26just mad but nobody nobody can take and
- 22:30put themselves in the shoes of those
- 22:31people who had to handle that situation
- 22:34and figured out how to do it better
- 22:37and told me what was the solution yes
- 22:44they don't have one scott
- 22:48It's screaming at the sky.
- 22:49It's being mad because the sun came up
- 22:51again and poor Lazarus is still dead.
- 22:58God bless him.
- 22:59Nobody wanted to see that.
- 23:00Nobody wanted that to happen.
- 23:02It's unprecedented.
- 23:03It has not happened in our sport at
- 23:06all, ever.
- 23:08It's the first one.
- 23:09I, we have a,
- 23:10we have a running joke at our gym
- 23:13and ever so might,
- 23:13when you have some ridiculous workout and
- 23:15people are laying on the ground,
- 23:16like breathing hard and sweating and,
- 23:19you know,
- 23:20basically a mess and you just lay on
- 23:21and be like, Hey, just so you know,
- 23:24to date, nobody has died in here.
- 23:27We're going to keep that streak going
- 23:28today.
- 23:29Right.
- 23:30Cause we wouldn't know what to do if
- 23:31somebody did other than to call the
- 23:33ambulance.
- 23:35Right.
- 23:38To expect people to just know what to
- 23:40do when something,
- 23:42especially he didn't collapse on the
- 23:44floor.
- 23:45The thing I hate most about society today
- 23:49is it's really easy to sit on the
- 23:51sidelines and say you did it wrong,
- 23:54but nobody offers the solution.
- 23:57How would you have done it differently
- 23:58then?
- 24:00It's really easy to sit over there and
- 24:03say, you didn't handle that right.
- 24:05But nobody, nobody has offered up.
- 24:08This is what should have happened.
- 24:11Yeah.
- 24:17Ridiculous.
- 24:18Yes, Vicki.
- 24:24I'm kind of with you, Vindicate.
- 24:26I don't know why that bugs me.
- 24:28It bugs me.
- 24:30It was crooked.
- 24:31I grew up in the day of like,
- 24:34you round it down.
- 24:36I can't.
- 24:37Well, I can, but it's a whole thing.
- 24:43If I do that with the sunglasses that
- 24:45I have, I can't.
- 24:46It sits up like on this part of
- 24:47my head.
- 24:49Anyway.
- 24:56In the midst of all that,
- 24:56none of them tried to unite the community
- 24:58in any way or be a part of
- 24:59the solution.
- 25:00It was a great time to step up
- 25:02and no one did.
- 25:05I think there were people that understood
- 25:07what was going on and tried to say
- 25:09they understood.
- 25:11Being there in that arena that weekend,
- 25:13it sucked.
- 25:14Yeah, I remember.
- 25:17It was so hard.
- 25:19And I wasn't even in charge of doing
- 25:21anything.
- 25:22And I was...
- 25:24paralyzed for moments because it sucked so
- 25:27bad so how could I point a finger
- 25:32at Dave or Boz or Don Fall and
- 25:35tell them they did it wrong when I'm
- 25:37sitting there in the arena going what the
- 25:39hell just happened because I couldn't have
- 25:45I wasn't thinking clearly that day and I
- 25:50knew I knew Lazar on a
- 25:53surface level right like he knew my name
- 25:56i knew his name we talked a couple
- 25:58times he's been on the show a bunch
- 26:02it hit me hard and i am sure
- 26:07the same happened to them i am sure
- 26:10that dave and don and all those people
- 26:13were devastated and then they were given
- 26:15instructions by a board on how to handle
- 26:18a situation
- 26:23And it was an impossible task to be
- 26:27the face of that.
- 26:32They did the best they could with the
- 26:33information that was given to them and the
- 26:36situation that it was.
- 26:37Was it fantastic?
- 26:40Nope.
- 26:41And you know this had a big part
- 26:43in what went down.
- 26:45Absolutely, it did.
- 26:47Lawyers played a big part in what went
- 26:49down.
- 26:50Absolutely, it did.
- 26:54just like we talked with my mom at
- 26:55the top of the show liability resides with
- 26:58the people holding the contest the
- 27:00competition and i don't know well enough
- 27:11about that um a couple other things i
- 27:16wanted to ask you about one you know
- 27:21close with tristan i'm close with hattie i
- 27:23know you're close with tristan yesterday
- 27:25hattie was on glit and things and she
- 27:28made the announcement that she has left
- 27:32tristan and moved on to a different coach
- 27:34how shocked were you because i i almost
- 27:38wrecked the jeep i was on my way
- 27:39i was on my way home i really
- 27:43did finishing the documentary from behind
- 27:45the scenes at the games with the two
- 27:47of them yeah
- 27:50and I've been scrambling ever since I
- 27:53watched that last night to, and I,
- 27:56and I got permission from the Glintons to,
- 27:58uh,
- 27:59be able to use that as the end
- 28:02of the documentary because it,
- 28:08it shifts the whole ending of the doc
- 28:10and,
- 28:12And I know bigger than that.
- 28:14Like I just, and I understand, you know,
- 28:16sometimes you just need a different
- 28:18perspective.
- 28:20You're in even an average Joe,
- 28:22one coach says something to you and it
- 28:24doesn't click.
- 28:25Another coach comes over and says
- 28:26something to you and all of a sudden,
- 28:28bam.
- 28:28Oh, I get it now.
- 28:32I did not have that on my twenty
- 28:34twenty five bingo card at all.
- 28:36Was not even an option in my head.
- 28:38Right.
- 28:39Uh,
- 28:40having said that the fact that it's
- 28:43amicable and that Tristan is like,
- 28:45absolutely, you know,
- 28:46we had a fantastic run,
- 28:48which are none but the best, you know,
- 28:50and how do you say in, uh,
- 28:52same thing, you know, Hey,
- 28:55it is what it is.
- 28:56I'm moving on, you know,
- 28:57still love Tristan to death, you know,
- 28:59gluten form, all that stuff.
- 29:01Like didn't see it coming,
- 29:04but the fact that there it's,
- 29:08I won't say a good thing,
- 29:09but it ended well,
- 29:10I guess you could say.
- 29:13That made me happy.
- 29:17Well, now she's going to Brute,
- 29:18and it's been brought up here.
- 29:20That and the Brute moving shook me,
- 29:23and the Brute changes are wild.
- 29:24I don't even know all the changes,
- 29:25because I'm not done with Siobhan from
- 29:27this morning,
- 29:28and I know James is just kind of
- 29:29getting into it when I had to quit
- 29:32watching.
- 29:34They're leaving Jacksonville.
- 29:36Even Jacksonville.
- 29:37That's as far as I got to because
- 29:39I was in and out.
- 29:40And I heard James say that Dallin is
- 29:43going to move someplace to have better
- 29:49balance in life.
- 29:50I can only assume he's moving back to
- 29:52the Pacific Northwest.
- 29:54Right.
- 29:57Or he's moving in next door to Jason.
- 30:00I don't know.
- 30:02They bought the house next door to
- 30:03Jason's.
- 30:03They're going to work out in Jason's barn
- 30:06together.
- 30:09Or build a barn that goes over the
- 30:13two property lines.
- 30:15I like it.
- 30:15I like it.
- 30:16It's a solid plan, let's be honest.
- 30:20Yeah, Hattie is going to Brute.
- 30:24Sounds like Matt is moving somewhere no
- 30:26one else would go.
- 30:27Like Vermont?
- 30:28Is that what you're getting at, Travis?
- 30:33Oh, I cracked myself.
- 30:35Crazy.
- 30:37Crazy.
- 30:38So I just found that, you know,
- 30:44like it was just like three years ago,
- 30:46like the camps were the biggest thing and
- 30:47everybody was moving to the camp and to
- 30:50work out every day.
- 30:51And now most of the camps seem to
- 30:53be remote.
- 30:56I would...
- 31:02I can see both sides as far as
- 31:05the camps.
- 31:05Like if you're in it every single day
- 31:09and you are two killers, right?
- 31:11If you are Jason and Dallin and you
- 31:14are next to each other every single day,
- 31:17it would be very,
- 31:18very hard to have a normal training
- 31:21session that does not turn into a
- 31:22competition.
- 31:24And doing that every single day is not
- 31:28going to be healthy whatsoever for your
- 31:31longevity.
- 31:32Uh, they just made that word up, uh,
- 31:36for your fitness in general,
- 31:37because you cannot compete every single
- 31:39day and expect to be able to recover
- 31:43and get ready and be good for the
- 31:44next day.
- 31:46Uh, remember comp train academy.
- 31:50Briefly.
- 31:50Yeah, I do.
- 31:52That worked for half a season?
- 31:56Yes.
- 31:57I want to say four months.
- 32:00I want to say four months,
- 32:02beginning to end.
- 32:03I remember whenever they announced it,
- 32:05thinking, yeah, I mean, okay.
- 32:09Kind of like IMG Academy or whatnot.
- 32:11People go there, and they live there,
- 32:13and that's what they do.
- 32:14Yeah.
- 32:17P.O.
- 32:17is moving to Boston.
- 32:20I'm betting you that that doesn't even
- 32:21matter because they just brought on
- 32:24Justin.
- 32:25Justin is not leaving Vegas.
- 32:28It's all remote anyway.
- 32:32Yeah.
- 32:32So really the only one that the only
- 32:35two places that have a headquarters that
- 32:37matter is TTT and proven mayhem.
- 32:44I forgot about them.
- 32:45They're kind of big.
- 32:46I mean,
- 32:47mayhem is kind of a big deal at
- 32:48that point.
- 32:49And mayhem is not just mayhem, right?
- 32:50It's Cookville in general.
- 32:53Because it's mayhem and it's the barn.
- 32:58Yeah,
- 32:58the barn doesn't get used as much as
- 32:59it used to.
- 33:00I think Rich was disappointed in that.
- 33:02If you've watched some of their latest
- 33:04videos,
- 33:04he's been trying to encourage the athletes
- 33:07to show up at the barn and use
- 33:08it because it's there.
- 33:09Because it's in his back court.
- 33:11I would, too.
- 33:15guys wait wait see i'm across the old
- 33:16man i don't want anybody but i don't
- 33:18want to see people he also get out
- 33:20of here right um i i also get
- 33:24the feeling from matt oh not from matt
- 33:26excuse me from rich that he enjoys having
- 33:29people around like he wants somebody to
- 33:31come work out with him so he can
- 33:33write some nonsense on the board and they
- 33:34can destroy themselves for thirty minutes
- 33:36to an hour
- 33:37Like, I feel like that,
- 33:39that's a whole thing.
- 33:40I would, I would, I train myself.
- 33:43Ninety percent of the time.
- 33:45And when I do get to get people
- 33:46to come do stuff with me,
- 33:48it's just more fun, dude.
- 33:50It really, really is.
- 33:52When I said TTT CrossFit,
- 33:53what I was meaning is their headquarters
- 33:55still matter.
- 33:56They have a lot of camps there.
- 33:58They bring in athletes for longer periods
- 34:01of time to do X things, right?
- 34:06I'm sure they'll all be in there for
- 34:08quarterfinals.
- 34:10They'll all be there for online
- 34:11semifinals.
- 34:12I'm subscribed to their YouTube channel.
- 34:14They still put out videos daily.
- 34:17And like CTP is on top of his
- 34:19shit.
- 34:19And even mayhem,
- 34:20a lot of the athletes are remote.
- 34:24But they also spend a lot of time
- 34:25in Cookville, like the main one.
- 34:28Yeah.
- 34:28And they're invited there to do all the
- 34:30major competitions and all the,
- 34:32that's kind of the same thing.
- 34:34The same thing with most of their athletes
- 34:36are Australian.
- 34:36They're not in Nashville year round.
- 34:39No, but the American ones,
- 34:42like they're at the headquarters.
- 34:43I feel like a lot.
- 34:49uh their youtube's great it's a more
- 34:51genuine hwpo model now yeah i agree i've
- 34:59always liked ttt's content um ctp is
- 35:04awesome and he's just a great dude he's
- 35:08one of the people i hang out with
- 35:09whenever i'm at events um
- 35:13still will never forget when he went on
- 35:14beyond uh around the whiteboard with pedro
- 35:17and he opened a freaking uh pokemon cord
- 35:22pack as part of one of his minute
- 35:27long sessions or uh answers or whatnot
- 35:29like the dude is he's good people he's
- 35:33just funny he doesn't take anything too
- 35:34seriously
- 35:37He's just a good dude, man.
- 35:38The TTT stuff is fun to watch because
- 35:40they don't take it too seriously either.
- 35:43They sound like me and my friends when
- 35:45we sit around and talk about programming
- 35:46and cops and stuff like that.
- 35:50It's enjoyable to watch.
- 35:51It really, really is.
- 35:53In the Lydia Fish video,
- 35:54they talked about what Fortnite and Call
- 35:58of Duty and Taco Bell as much as
- 36:01they talked about her doing the workouts.
- 36:05That's what I love about it.
- 36:09Speaking of the camps,
- 36:11a question I've actually had on my notes
- 36:13to ask you for a while now is
- 36:18how many opportunities should an athlete
- 36:22get?
- 36:25So, you know, in sports,
- 36:28they always say like the amount of
- 36:33mistakes you can make correlates with the
- 36:36talent that you have.
- 36:38Correct.
- 36:39Right.
- 36:39If you suck and you make a mistake,
- 36:42you're probably getting cut.
- 36:46If you're really great athletically and
- 36:50you make a mistake,
- 36:51you probably get like five or six of
- 36:53those before the threat of a cut or
- 36:55a trade comes up.
- 36:58Yeah.
- 36:59So we have people like Sarah Sigmund's
- 37:01daughter who have been with every camp
- 37:03under the sun.
- 37:05And now we have Daniel Brandon,
- 37:07who has been underdog, brute,
- 37:11a couple coaches at brute.
- 37:13Now with Adam Neifert,
- 37:16how many opportunities does she get?
- 37:18Is there,
- 37:19if she doesn't succeed with brute,
- 37:23is there any place she can go after
- 37:25this?
- 37:27Where else is there for her to go?
- 37:29Let me ask you this.
- 37:32Sorry about that.
- 37:33Who else is willing to try to take
- 37:37it on when everything she does is public?
- 37:41When everything she does, not everything.
- 37:43I mean, I say everything.
- 37:44That's kind of mean.
- 37:47But when most of the stuff she does,
- 37:50and it turns out to be public,
- 37:51it's not great.
- 37:53from a publicity standpoint where she
- 37:55comes off as being very very hard to
- 37:57work with very diva-ish very you know i
- 38:00mean she's putting do not use signs on
- 38:02machines at the at the gym because they're
- 38:05because they're daniels yeah antonio brown
- 38:14josh gordon their talent levels were so
- 38:18high they got so many opportunities in the
- 38:20nfl
- 38:22There is no debating that Danielle
- 38:24Brandon's talent level is at a level that
- 38:29is very rarely seen.
- 38:31If she doesn't can the back squat,
- 38:35she's on the podium this year.
- 38:36Period.
- 38:39End of story.
- 38:41If she does not shit can the back
- 38:43squat at the games,
- 38:44she is on the podium.
- 38:46High on the podium.
- 38:49So it ain't like she's not,
- 38:51but how much other stuff are you willing
- 38:54to put up with?
- 38:56And what's the upside for the coaches?
- 38:59And that's the other thing.
- 39:00How many coaches have the ego that think
- 39:04I'm the one that can make it click?
- 39:06Right.
- 39:08So I think it's twofold.
- 39:09It's she has the talent level to be
- 39:12a podium athlete at the CrossFit Games.
- 39:17And how many coaches are left that have
- 39:19the ego to say,
- 39:21I know that all these other coaches
- 39:23failed,
- 39:24but I got something they don't and I
- 39:26can make it click.
- 39:28I'm the one that's going to bring her
- 39:30back to center and get her up on
- 39:33the podium.
- 39:34If not, when?
- 39:36She's fit, dude.
- 39:39Insanely so.
- 39:42It's just an interesting thought, like,
- 39:48Adam is a insanely nice guy.
- 39:51Ridiculously nice guy, right?
- 39:54You know, doing good and well,
- 39:55whenever they asked him, you know, Hey,
- 39:57y'all could just kind of shepherd her for
- 40:00the games or whatnot.
- 40:01And he was like, yeah, sure.
- 40:05Right.
- 40:05It wasn't like, Oh yeah.
- 40:06Like I, there was,
- 40:09there's no way that was a thing.
- 40:11That's probably one of those.
- 40:12You get off the phone and you're like,
- 40:17okay, here we go.
- 40:18Because you got to start thinking about
- 40:20how we're going to make this actually
- 40:22happen and how we're actually going to
- 40:24make it work.
- 40:26Just for mirrors,
- 40:26no one wants that poison in their gym.
- 40:29That's what people said about Antonio
- 40:30Brown, Dennis Rodman, Terrell Owens.
- 40:36To be fair,
- 40:37all the time for that to wear out.
- 40:41To be fair,
- 40:43as far as Dennis Rodman is concerned,
- 40:46um you look at all the documentaries and
- 40:48whatnot that he's in especially like the
- 40:49uh the one about the bulls is that
- 40:52when they just left him alone and let
- 40:55him do his thing he was fine he
- 40:57might have showed up with you know six
- 40:59different color hair or some extra
- 41:01piercings that he didn't have the day
- 41:03before or whatnot and probably would have
- 41:04been hung over but he's going to get
- 41:05you fifteen twenty rebounds a night yeah
- 41:08but how many games does he miss during
- 41:09while you're letting him be himself
- 41:12Not enough to not win three championships
- 41:15in a row.
- 41:16So there's that.
- 41:19CrossFit says,
- 41:19I've definitely looked at her and said,
- 41:21I can fix her.
- 41:24I know you're joking.
- 41:25I know that this is a joke.
- 41:27But I am telling you,
- 41:28there are coaches that are saying that.
- 41:31Oh, absolutely.
- 41:33And on the flip side,
- 41:35I know one personally who said,
- 41:37I would not touch that with a ten-foot
- 41:39pole.
- 41:42Yeah.
- 41:43He said, there's no possible way.
- 41:46Not happening.
- 41:50So there's that.
- 41:52I would say it's very,
- 41:54I like the analogy you used.
- 41:57Yeah.
- 41:58When he went missing with Carmen Electra
- 42:00and MJ had to go get him.
- 42:01Yeah.
- 42:03I very much like the analogy you used
- 42:06of the, what's the upside?
- 42:12Right?
- 42:13And how many high-end coaches are left
- 42:19that will say, right?
- 42:22Underdogs is done as a thing.
- 42:25Justin is now HWPO.
- 42:27So if Justin's now HWPO,
- 42:29she's not going over there.
- 42:31That ain't going to happen.
- 42:34Right?
- 42:34Adam is over there and kind of
- 42:37shepherding, doing whatever.
- 42:38But unless somebody else that we don't
- 42:41know about yet,
- 42:43One of these people who's like, oh,
- 42:44I can fix her.
- 42:46I can definitely fix her.
- 42:47Let me ask you this, too.
- 42:50How many others are there?
- 42:52Sarah's been everywhere, right?
- 42:54But everybody loves Sarah.
- 42:56Sarah's been everywhere because she's
- 42:58looking at other people going,
- 43:00I can probably go over there and get
- 43:01better.
- 43:02You've never heard a story where Sarah
- 43:04Sigma's daughter was run out of camp or
- 43:08run off of somebody's training program.
- 43:12If Cutler couldn't handle her,
- 43:13no one else can.
- 43:15I truly believe that,
- 43:16but let me throw this out to you.
- 43:18Why does it have to be a big
- 43:19camp?
- 43:22If you are one of these smaller people
- 43:24like Golden Line or Tristan or one of
- 43:29these coaches on the up and coming that
- 43:30are trying to make a name for themselves,
- 43:33if you can be the one to fix
- 43:35Danielle,
- 43:35what does that do for your trajectory as
- 43:38a coach for the rest of your career?
- 43:40You'd have to convince her of that first.
- 43:47True.
- 43:48I'm just saying that it's worth the gamble
- 43:51if you're a smaller coach.
- 43:54She finished, what, fifth this year?
- 43:57Fourth.
- 43:58Fourth.
- 43:59It was fifth or fourth,
- 43:59something like that.
- 44:02Last year,
- 44:02we'll throw that out the window, right?
- 44:04But she's been hovering in that top ten
- 44:06zone, right?
- 44:08Top ten,
- 44:09top five zone the past couple of years.
- 44:12As an athlete...
- 44:17Like that's going to do some stuff for
- 44:18your head and thinking, well,
- 44:21I don't know who the hell you are.
- 44:22Why?
- 44:24Like,
- 44:24that's a tough sell is what I'm getting
- 44:26at for these, you know, up and coming.
- 44:30It's all about the option she has.
- 44:32And if she doesn't have any,
- 44:34because something doesn't go right with
- 44:35knife hurt,
- 44:37then she may have to go down to
- 44:39like a coach like that.
- 44:42Or she programs for herself.
- 44:46But then who do you blame?
- 44:52I just keep thinking that.
- 44:53As soon as you say who you blame,
- 44:55I picture in that ice bucket at the
- 44:57games, bitching at Matt, at Torres,
- 45:04about I should have done or about
- 45:05whatever.
- 45:06You can't do that.
- 45:09At some point, I can't.
- 45:13If I, okay, at Monster Games,
- 45:16I was on track to win an event.
- 45:20I missed my second-to-last bar muscle-up
- 45:23of the entire thing.
- 45:25I can't go back and bitch at Brandon
- 45:29for not programming enough.
- 45:32I'm performing, not him, right?
- 45:36He's just giving me tools,
- 45:37sending me on my way.
- 45:39It's a personal responsibility at that
- 45:41point.
- 45:54Did anyone know she works out in her
- 45:57garage and does her own programming?
- 46:00I want her an REO like tight.
- 46:08Yeah.
- 46:10Okay.
- 46:12Well, that's enough about that.
- 46:16The last thing I just wanted to talk
- 46:17about is James talked about today on
- 46:24Savan,
- 46:25his requirements for posting on social
- 46:28media that he has right now with sponsors
- 46:31is he has to get thirty five posts
- 46:33out in a month.
- 46:36That is crazy.
- 46:40That's a lot.
- 46:41It's a lot.
- 46:45I
- 46:46How do you stay genuine to who you
- 46:49are?
- 46:50And as he was talking,
- 46:51I just kept thinking like, James,
- 46:56the reason people stay with you are
- 46:58because you're authentic, right?
- 47:01That's why they're with you.
- 47:03And the more requirements they make of him
- 47:05on these posts,
- 47:07the less authentic he can even be.
- 47:09Yeah.
- 47:11After a while,
- 47:11you're going to start recycling stuff.
- 47:16And what else are you going to do?
- 47:19That's more than one a day.
- 47:23I don't know.
- 47:25It's crazy.
- 47:30Not to mention all the other stuff he's
- 47:32got going on.
- 47:33Like I heard Vindicate is a bastard.
- 47:36If Colton doesn't post every sixty nine
- 47:38minutes, he gets a lashing.
- 47:41Oh, wait.
- 47:41Oh, there it is.
- 47:42Mm hmm.
- 47:44Yeah.
- 47:45Travis is rough.
- 47:45That's why he won't sponsor me.
- 47:46Cause I know I won't post every six
- 47:47to nine minutes.
- 47:48I'm like, nah, dude,
- 47:49I got other stuff to do.
- 47:50Um, back to James,
- 47:55he's got a lot of shit going on.
- 47:59He is training, right?
- 48:02Sponsoring stuff.
- 48:03He's got this competition he's putting
- 48:04together.
- 48:05He's programming for,
- 48:06he's doing all the things for he's got
- 48:08the people that he trains as well.
- 48:12Like he was going through it this morning
- 48:13and talking about all of it.
- 48:14I was like,
- 48:15I didn't realize how much stuff he
- 48:17actually has his fingers in at twenty
- 48:20three years old.
- 48:23And it's a lot.
- 48:23A whole lot.
- 48:26When I when I interviewed him when he
- 48:27was, I think, seventeen,
- 48:30he had started his own businesses then
- 48:32like he was doing a programming that teens
- 48:36could buy when he was seventeen years old.
- 48:42I think he just has that spirit in
- 48:44him that he wants to be busy.
- 48:47His mind moves at a thousand miles an
- 48:49hour.
- 48:49I mean, if you've been around him,
- 48:52he is like the Energizer bunny and he
- 48:54just needs to be moving and occupied at
- 48:57all times.
- 48:59And I think that's probably when he's
- 49:01best.
- 49:02Oh, absolutely.
- 49:04Anybody I've ever met that's myself
- 49:07included that needs to be engaged like
- 49:09during the day.
- 49:12Vindicate is not going to spark you
- 49:13because you wear flat-billed hats.
- 49:17Send me a shirt.
- 49:18I love Travis.
- 49:25You know, when I was a kid,
- 49:25we used to put a baseball in the
- 49:27brim and take a rubber band and wrap
- 49:29around the bill to get it to be
- 49:34really curved.
- 49:36If you see one of the other ones
- 49:38that's in my Jeep, it looks like that.
- 49:41One of my newer hats from the gym.
- 49:46Anyway.
- 49:48Anyway.
- 49:49Yeah.
- 49:50I operate better when I'm doing four
- 49:52things at once.
- 49:55Because it keeps my mind occupied.
- 49:56Like I'm during the course of a day,
- 49:59I am working on a quote.
- 50:00I'm talking on the phone to somebody at
- 50:02the same time.
- 50:02I got music playing on the other end,
- 50:04like.
- 50:06My wife hates it because I need noise
- 50:10and I need stuff going on to be
- 50:13able to keep them unoccupied.
- 50:15If I just sit here and just left
- 50:16them on devices, it's not good.
- 50:19Yeah, that much stuff going on,
- 50:21I usually cut off a finger.
- 50:27I said my wife hates it.
- 50:28When we had to work together at home
- 50:30when the world shut down,
- 50:32We were on opposite ends of the living
- 50:34room and that she was about ready to
- 50:36murder me after the first day because I
- 50:39got music playing.
- 50:40I got to answer the phone.
- 50:41I talked to people.
- 50:41I'm click clacking on the keyboard and
- 50:43whatnot.
- 50:43And she likes it quiet.
- 50:47Like I'll go pop in the house for
- 50:48lunch some days and open the front door
- 50:52and can't hear nothing.
- 50:54And she's working.
- 50:55And I'm like,
- 50:56how do you sit here in silence all
- 50:58day long?
- 50:58I fall asleep.
- 51:01There's no possible way.
- 51:02I need noise.
- 51:02I need something.
- 51:05And I feel like that's how James' brain
- 51:06probably works as well.
- 51:07He needs fourteen projects to keep him
- 51:09occupied.
- 51:14Yeah.
- 51:16Well, now he's gone almost an hour.
- 51:21And yeah, Joseph,
- 51:22that is the old school method because I
- 51:24am old.
- 51:26It's cool.
- 51:30To be fair, nine times out of ten,
- 51:32my head is usually like this anyway.
- 51:33Well,
- 51:35that's because Will Morad makes it look so
- 51:37good.
- 51:40It also had to be like this, though.
- 51:41It looked like I just smoked a bowl
- 51:44and just sitting here talking to you.
- 51:47I got it forward because it's got my
- 51:49people going.
- 51:51They're not sponsoring the show,
- 51:52but it doesn't matter.
- 51:55We advertise.
- 51:56Yeah.
- 51:57Yeah.
- 51:59it's tough to get sponsors for this
- 52:01because you hear like what james is going
- 52:03through and i'm very like uh nothing i
- 52:06hate more than than our ad reads right
- 52:11and i never want to do an ad
- 52:12read and if i talk to a sponsor
- 52:15like i am never doing an ad read
- 52:18it's got to be something that like i
- 52:19can talk about in the normal flow of
- 52:21a conversation or something like when we
- 52:25were with c-four like i could drink it
- 52:26on air there you guys see it
- 52:30And you guys know I truly was drinking
- 52:32that shit all the time.
- 52:34The case that you sent me,
- 52:36the care package,
- 52:37whatever you want to call it,
- 52:39it lasted me over a month.
- 52:41I still got the shaker bottle.
- 52:45Yeah,
- 52:46I'm almost done with the Heller video with
- 52:48Liz.
- 52:49It's great.
- 52:51I love the stories of people who work
- 52:54and do this CrossFit thing for a living.
- 52:57And
- 52:59She's badass, man.
- 53:05I've got ten minutes left at the end
- 53:08of that, but yeah,
- 53:09I definitely caught most of it.
- 53:14She's just one state over.
- 53:18Where's she at?
- 53:20Indiana.
- 53:20Indiana.
- 53:23Oh, Indiana.
- 53:24One of my buddies texted me last night
- 53:26and he's going to MFC next weekend and
- 53:28said.
- 53:30Is that next weekend already?
- 53:34Yeah, next weekend or weekend after that.
- 53:35It's in October coming up.
- 53:37I had the memories from twenty three pop
- 53:39up on my phone.
- 53:41Matter of fact,
- 53:42I flew home today two years ago.
- 53:49I like you're texting me.
- 53:51But anyway,
- 53:52one of my partners who was competing in
- 53:54my division was like, he said,
- 53:56I got most of them done, you know,
- 53:59just testing and whatnot.
- 53:59He said,
- 54:00you think you test a couple of them
- 54:01for me?
- 54:01Because I have no idea.
- 54:03I need to go faster if I'm going
- 54:05fast enough, blah, blah, whatever.
- 54:07And I was,
- 54:08felt pretty good about myself that I got
- 54:10my peers over here and trying to get
- 54:12me to test stuff for them because they
- 54:13know I'm not going to see how they
- 54:15stack up.
- 54:21Mayhem podcast ads are better when Rich
- 54:22read them half-assed.
- 54:24Now they are pre-recorded and no fun.
- 54:26I agree.
- 54:27Yeah, I'd say so.
- 54:29But I'd also say that when he did
- 54:31them half-assed, when he first did that,
- 54:33it was definitely refreshing.
- 54:35But that even gets old after a bit.
- 54:38But if you truly use the product,
- 54:41why does it need to be a recorded
- 54:45or even read thing?
- 54:47It's probably in the contract.
- 54:51But then don't sign the contract.
- 54:53Like, say the contract,
- 54:54I want to be able to talk about
- 54:55it freely, how I use it.
- 54:58I just...
- 55:00other podcasts that do those red things
- 55:02just bug the hell out of me oh
- 55:04dude look i listen to the sean ryan
- 55:07show um fairly often and you can go
- 55:10look like as soon as it starts i
- 55:13just i know it lasts about a minute
- 55:15and a half or two minutes i just
- 55:16start fast forward so i can get through
- 55:18it because like i don't want to hear
- 55:20about gold and that i need to buy
- 55:23some or
- 55:25pillows or whatever it is that you know
- 55:28they're selling like i'm not buying any of
- 55:29your stuff i just want to hear about
- 55:31what this dude has to talk about back
- 55:33in the day like rogan used to have
- 55:34like eight minutes of ads before his show
- 55:37started like nobody's sitting through
- 55:40eight minutes of ads are all fast
- 55:42forwarding talk about that uh the opie and
- 55:47anthony show uh talk radio out of new
- 55:50york
- 55:52I remember listening to them.
- 55:53I had to go find old episodes or
- 55:55whatnot.
- 55:56And they had people that would call in
- 55:57or email to them or something like that,
- 56:00complaining about the ads that they would
- 56:01play.
- 56:02Now, they're on the radio.
- 56:04You have to play commercials.
- 56:06You play too many and too many breaks
- 56:08or whatnot.
- 56:08And he's like,
- 56:09why don't you just play all of them
- 56:11at once?
- 56:11And they were like,
- 56:12you do not want us to play five
- 56:13minutes of commercials at one time.
- 56:16And I got an argument with a dude
- 56:17on the phone,
- 56:18and they played five minutes of
- 56:20commercials at one time,
- 56:21and it was absolute misery.
- 56:24Like just having to sit there and just
- 56:26go, oh, there's another.
- 56:28Yeah.
- 56:28Okay.
- 56:29There's another one.
- 56:30Yeah.
- 56:31Jimmy John's.
- 56:32That's fantastic.
- 56:33I don't buy Volkswagen or whatever.
- 56:37Terrible.
- 56:38Absolutely terrible.
- 56:40And I agree.
- 56:42We are now sponsored by
- 56:47On that note,
- 56:51while we're talking about it.
- 56:53Oh, that's good shit.
- 56:56With that, guys,
- 56:57thank you so much for hanging out with
- 56:59us today.
- 57:00It's been a blast.
- 57:01I know Jan and Jake have Velner on
- 57:03again today.
- 57:04So you might want to go check that
- 57:07out.
- 57:08I love Jan and Jake.
- 57:10I just don't know if I can do
- 57:11another Velner video.
- 57:14I'm curious.
- 57:16So like, I'm going to turn it on,
- 57:18but just cause I'm curious,
- 57:19that's really it.
- 57:20And then, um, starting next week,
- 57:23I'm going to start bringing in some guests
- 57:24during the week to have lunch with, um,
- 57:27trying to make it more conversational,
- 57:29just people from around the sport,
- 57:31maybe an athlete, maybe, uh, someone else,
- 57:35maybe a volunteer, maybe, um,
- 57:39I don't know.
- 57:41Tuesday, I'm having Josh Hicks on,
- 57:43the head of medical for both WFP and
- 57:46has been brought in on many events in
- 57:48the CrossFit space.
- 57:49He cut his teeth in CrossFit for many
- 57:52years.
- 57:56He's been a friend of mine ever since
- 57:57I was a volunteer back in twenty thirteen.
- 58:00So we're going to talk and he's putting
- 58:03together programs and safety protocol for
- 58:08all fitness events.
- 58:10good for him and uh he is he
- 58:13was he was brought in on the age
- 58:14group crossfit games wfp has hired him to
- 58:17do all of their events um and he's
- 58:21been brought in on a lot of the
- 58:22other crossfit stuff too waterpalooza uh
- 58:25things like that so uh that's his
- 58:28full-time job now he was an ems uh
- 58:32helicopter ems person
- 58:36Like food helicopter or rodent helicopter?
- 58:38Rodent helicopter, two sites to do EMS.
- 58:44So he'll be on next Tuesday.
- 58:47We'll talk about what's going on in space,
- 58:48what his interpretation of everything is,
- 58:51what he,
- 58:51how he feels about what's going on in
- 58:53space from his perspective.
- 58:57And that'll be next Tuesday.
- 59:00And we're going to kind of keep those
- 59:01kinds of things rolling just to,
- 59:04especially during the off season to shake
- 59:06things up a little bit.
- 59:07When are you going on Chris's show?
- 59:10Today.
- 59:11Hmm.
- 59:13Just about an hour and forty five minutes
- 59:15from now.
- 59:16All right.
- 59:19So.
- 59:19Well, listen,
- 59:19I am curious to add with how the
- 59:21conversation is going with Jan and Jake
- 59:24and Patty.
- 59:28My guess is we're going to be talking
- 59:29about kids and they don't even touch on
- 59:30the other stuff.
- 59:31That's that's kind of leaning towards
- 59:34because Jake could give a shit less about
- 59:36the sport.
- 59:38Yep.
- 59:41Oh, dude, man.
