- 1:14All right.
- 1:14We've got a lot to share with you.
- 1:16This is inspirations for your life.
- 1:19If you guys have not heard my book,
- 1:21yes, my book, Drain to Driven, launched just
- 1:25about a week ago on April, was it
- 1:30April 17th?
- 1:32So basically not last week, but so from
- 1:35this, so basically two weeks from May 1st,
- 1:38it launched.
- 1:39So yes, you can check that out at
- 1:40BelieveMeAchieve.com as well.
- 1:42It's available on Audible.
- 1:43It's available as a six by nine hardcover
- 1:45book.
- 1:46It's also available in the eKindle version if
- 1:48you want that as well.
- 1:48So this is Inspirations to Your Life.
- 1:50It's series five, show 18, and it is
- 1:54episode number four.
- 1:56When direction changes because the truth gets revealed,
- 2:01okay, was where we were at yesterday.
- 2:05But I think an important point for today
- 2:09is knowing like what happens, right?
- 2:14What happens?
- 2:15Because when this happens, we know the direction
- 2:19has a big thing for us, right?
- 2:22So direction changes because truth gets evolved is
- 2:25where we are this week.
- 2:26But this episode of Inspirations for Your Life
- 2:28with myself, by the way, John C.
- 2:30Morley, I'm a serial entrepreneur.
- 2:32I'm an engineer, marketing specialist, video producer, podcast
- 2:37host, coach, graduate student, keynote speaker, and yes,
- 2:44a passionate lifelong learner, and now very grateful
- 2:47to be a published author.
- 2:49I'm exploring how transformation happens when the truth
- 2:52replaces belief, and how people think, decide, and
- 2:56act.
- 2:56This is not about motivation.
- 2:58This is about correction through truth.
- 3:01Because ladies and gentlemen, the truth enters thinking,
- 3:07and everything that is built on assumption begins
- 3:10to suddenly shift.
- 3:12Yes, it begins to shift.
- 3:14I think that's a very important thing that
- 3:17a lot of people, they miss that whole
- 3:19concept, right?
- 3:22They miss what that means.
- 3:24And so our very first point that I'm
- 3:26going to dive in today, and it's an
- 3:28important one that a lot of people, well,
- 3:30they miss.
- 3:31And that is, ladies and gentlemen, that beliefs
- 3:32change with exposure, with exposure.
- 3:37So new information reshapes old certainty.
- 3:41When we get new information, it changes our
- 3:45perception.
- 3:45It changes our belief.
- 3:46It changes what we once knew to be
- 3:49true is now, well, different.
- 3:55And once we know the truth, and once
- 3:57we've learned something, we can't go back and
- 3:59pretend that we don't know it.
- 4:02Number two, guys, truth overrides assumption.
- 4:06Reality becomes stronger than any amount of belief,
- 4:09okay?
- 4:10So your belief is good, but what you
- 4:12feel, what you see, and you experience in
- 4:14life, that's the real deal, ladies and gentlemen.
- 4:16That is the real deal.
- 4:18And I think the more that we can
- 4:20appreciate that concept, the more that things will
- 4:25basically change in our lives for the better.
- 4:28Number three, guys, experience reshapes thinking.
- 4:33Life corrects theory over time.
- 4:37We make a hypothesis if we're scientists, right?
- 4:39And we say that when I do this,
- 4:44something's going to happen.
- 4:45We make it a hypothesis.
- 4:47And then we document, we do the experiment,
- 4:50and we document what happened, and then we
- 4:54draw our conclusion.
- 4:56And the hypothesis could be correct or it
- 4:59could be wrong, but we document it with
- 5:01data.
- 5:03Number four, guys, learning replaces certainty.
- 5:06Understanding evolves continuously.
- 5:08And I think a lot of people believe
- 5:11that the way they learned yesterday is the
- 5:13way they learned today.
- 5:13And I'm here to shake things up.
- 5:15It's not.
- 5:17The way you learned yesterday is not the
- 5:21way you're going to learn today and maybe
- 5:22even the way you're going to learn tomorrow
- 5:23or next week or next year.
- 5:25You evolve.
- 5:27Number five, guys, awareness disrupts mental models.
- 5:34Old systems stop fitting reality.
- 5:36And so when we become aware of something,
- 5:39hint, hint, like what's in my book here,
- 5:42awareness is in there quite a bit.
- 5:44When we become aware of things, our life
- 5:48just sort of, it takes a different path,
- 5:51a different turn.
- 5:54It inherits different characteristics.
- 5:56And it can disrupt the model that we
- 6:00knew for hours, days, months, right, or years.
- 6:09Number six, guys, information changes the direction.
- 6:13When we have new information, our direction, our
- 6:17course will change.
- 6:18New input forces new outcomes.
- 6:23When we change the way we act, people
- 6:28act to us differently.
- 6:32I want to share something that Dr. Dwayne
- 6:35Dyer shared, rest his soul.
- 6:37His mentor was Patanjali, who also passed away,
- 6:41and rest his soul as well.
- 6:43Patanjali said something very interesting that Dr. Dwayne
- 6:46Dyer has talked about.
- 6:47When we change the way we look at
- 6:49things, the things we look at change.
- 6:50When we change the way we look at
- 6:52things, the things we look at change.
- 6:54And that causes us to, well, force out
- 7:01the old inputs and put in new inputs.
- 7:04Number seven, guys, growth requires correction.
- 7:09Improvement demands adjustment.
- 7:11We're not experts at something day one.
- 7:15We get better at things, right, we get
- 7:18better at things.
- 7:19Number eight, guys, understanding replaces the bias that
- 7:22we might have.
- 7:22The clarity removes the distortion.
- 7:27And so the bias can be a prejudice
- 7:30toward one side or the other, because maybe
- 7:33we're not versed in the other side.
- 7:35Maybe we're going to lean to one learning
- 7:37method when the other one would work for
- 7:39us, but we haven't even tried it yet
- 7:41or tried that technique.
- 7:43So I think that's a very important thing
- 7:46to understand.
- 7:48Number nine, guys, evidence changes belief, right.
- 7:52Belief is key, and proof becomes more powerful
- 7:56than the opinion that we have set forth.
- 8:01The opinion that we have set forth.
- 8:04That's a very, that's a very important thing.
- 8:09Number 10, guys, old frameworks collapse.
- 8:14Outdated thinking can no longer hold it.
- 8:17So it must collapse.
- 8:18We must get something new.
- 8:20You know what this reminds me of?
- 8:23What is it, the caterpillar, the caterpillar and
- 8:29larva and, you know, the stages of their
- 8:34birth, basically.
- 8:35And so the butterfly lifecycle is kind of
- 8:39where I want to go with this.
- 8:41It starts very, very small, right.
- 8:45It starts as the egg stage, okay.
- 8:48Then the caterpillar larva stages is the next
- 8:53stage that it goes into.
- 8:54Then it goes into the pupa stage, pupa
- 8:57stage, which is hanging upside down, okay.
- 9:02It hangs upside down.
- 9:05And then the next stage emerging as an
- 9:08adult butterfly.
- 9:11Yeah.
- 9:12So it hangs upside down, then it starts
- 9:15to emerge as an adult butterfly.
- 9:17And variations across species can happen.
- 9:20So the egg stage is everything starts with
- 9:22the female butterfly laying eggs, usually on a
- 9:25host plant.
- 9:25And that will later become food for their
- 9:27offspring.
- 9:28The eggs are often round or oval and
- 9:31barely the size of, oh, the head of
- 9:34a pin.
- 9:35Inside a caterpillar, it begins to form.
- 9:38And depending on the species and temperature, the
- 9:40eggs hatch in a few days to a
- 9:42few weeks.
- 9:42And once they do, out comes the larva,
- 9:45better known as a caterpillar, aka larva.
- 9:49So this larval stage is also about eating.
- 9:51The caterpillars feed almost nonstop, mainly on the
- 9:55leaves of their host plants.
- 9:57Their main job is to grow.
- 9:59And as they expand, they shed their skin
- 10:01multiple times because their outer covering doesn't stretch.
- 10:06Caterpillars often have short antennas, multiple sets of
- 10:10legs and soft, flexible bodies.
- 10:12Some, like the monarch butterfly larva, are brightly
- 10:16striped.
- 10:17To warn predators, they taste bad.
- 10:21OK.
- 10:24When the caterpillar is big enough, it enters
- 10:26the pupal stage.
- 10:28This involves forming a corallis or, in some
- 10:32species, a silken coon, a cocoon, they call
- 10:35it, where major changes happen.
- 10:38Unlike moths, most butterflies don't spin full cocoons.
- 10:42Instead, the caterpillar often hangs upside down and
- 10:44sheds its final skin to reveal the pupa
- 10:47underneath.
- 10:48Inside the corallis of the caterpillar's body breaks
- 10:51down into a kind of a biological soup,
- 10:53if you will.
- 10:54From this, an adult butterfly forms, complete with
- 10:58wings, long legs, and compound eyes.
- 11:02And so it emerges as an adult butterfly.
- 11:05In the final adult stages, the butterfly breaks
- 11:08free from the corallis.
- 11:10At first, its wings are soft and crumbled.
- 11:14It pumps fluid into them and waits for
- 11:17them to dry.
- 11:19And then it takes flight.
- 11:21This adult stage focuses on reproduction and feeding.
- 11:24And adults sip nectar from flowers using a
- 11:26straw-like and often live.
- 11:30But they only live only a few weeks.
- 11:33But their main goal is to find a
- 11:35mate and continue the butterfly life.
- 11:37Females lay the eggs, and the cycle begins
- 11:39all over again.
- 11:40But my point that I was trying to
- 11:42share with you about this is that when
- 11:47our shell doesn't fit us anymore, or our
- 11:52ways don't fit us anymore, we outgrow them.
- 11:55We stop doing them.
- 11:57We change the way we are acting in
- 12:00life.
- 12:01Number 11, guys, insight replaces fear.
- 12:04What is fear?
- 12:04False evidence appearing real.
- 12:07That's what fear is, guys.
- 12:09That's what it is.
- 12:10Clarity reduces internal resistance.
- 12:13It does.
- 12:15Number 12, guys, perspective evolves.
- 12:18How you see determines what you see.
- 12:22How you see determines what you see.
- 12:27And that's a mouthful there.
- 12:31That is awfully a mouthful there.
- 12:33Number 13, knowledge expands identity.
- 12:38Learning reshapes our self-definition.
- 12:41When we learn how to grow lots of
- 12:46different ways, we find that we're not the
- 12:50same person.
- 12:52Now, we might have gained more intelligence.
- 12:54I mean, that's great.
- 12:57But we're different.
- 13:01We don't look at things the same way.
- 13:02We don't do things the same way.
- 13:04Kind of an evolution of our journey.
- 13:08Number 14, guys, misunderstandings get corrected.
- 13:12The truth adjusts perception.
- 13:14The truth.
- 13:16Sometimes we're not ready for the truth, but
- 13:17the truth still comes at us.
- 13:19Number 15, awareness resets thinking.
- 13:23Mental patterns reboot over time, over time.
- 13:29Number 16, truth removes the limitation, and boundaries
- 13:34lose their influence.
- 13:38I know so many people that want to
- 13:40just push through and say, you know what?
- 13:41I had enough.
- 13:48I had enough.
- 13:51And so when somebody has enough, it's like,
- 13:54they're like, all right, enough of that.
- 13:55I don't want to go through that patterning
- 13:57work.
- 14:01I want to do something different.
- 14:02I want to change my life.
- 14:07When we find the real truth, that's when
- 14:10we break down the barriers.
- 14:11Number 17, guys.
- 14:13Are you ready for number 17?
- 14:14Number 17 is the mental models shift.
- 14:18Internal logic reorganizes our life.
- 14:22But again, ladies and gentlemen, it does not
- 14:24happen overnight.
- 14:26It takes some time before it happens.
- 14:30Okay?
- 14:43I think a lot of people don't really
- 14:48understand, like, why things are a certain way.
- 14:55And when you start to understand that your
- 14:57mental model shifts, internal logic, and then it
- 15:02can reorganize it, not just once, but many
- 15:05ways until it's in the right sequence.
- 15:09Number 18, guys.
- 15:10Belief systems upgrade.
- 15:15Thinking structure evolves.
- 15:17When we believe in a system and when
- 15:19we keep upgrading it, a structure evolves.
- 15:23And when we have structure, we can then
- 15:27have consistency, we can have reliability, and we
- 15:31can have repeatable success.
- 15:33But most people give up before the structure's
- 15:36even formed.
- 15:39Number 19, guys.
- 15:41Change requires unlearning.
- 15:45Oh, that can be a little uncomfortable for
- 15:48some people.
- 15:49Old ideas must be released.
- 15:51Even if you say, you know what?
- 15:52I don't wanna do this another way.
- 15:56The other way is gonna be uncomfortable because
- 16:00you're used to doing something a certain way.
- 16:03It's like, if I asked you, like, I'm
- 16:06right-handed, right?
- 16:07If you ask me to write my left
- 16:09hand, it's like, can I do it?
- 16:10Yeah, but it's gonna be challenging.
- 16:14Is it painful?
- 16:15No.
- 16:16Is it uncomfortable?
- 16:18Yes.
- 16:19I'm not ambidextrous with my writing.
- 16:22If I practiced with my left hand, not
- 16:24that I want to, I could probably sign
- 16:29well in a period of time, but I'd
- 16:30have to do a lot of practice because
- 16:32this hand has never done more than maybe
- 16:35one or two signatures, right?
- 16:37It is not done with this hand, the
- 16:38right hand is done.
- 16:39So that's an important thing for us to
- 16:41understand.
- 16:43Number 20, guys.
- 16:44Growth requires a sense of oneness.
- 16:49What the heck is that, John?
- 16:50Close thinking blocks evolution.
- 16:53So when we realize that we are all
- 16:55one, that we're all part of this ecosystem,
- 16:58the universe, we start to learn that we're
- 17:02here to help each other, not harm or
- 17:04hurt each other.
- 17:07And sometimes along the way, I feel that
- 17:12that message gets lost.
- 17:14The concept of helping people, the concept of
- 17:17being there for people gets lost.
- 17:21Becomes me first, you second, or you fifth.
- 17:25Number 21, guys.
- 17:27Experience teaches faster than theory.
- 17:34Perfect example I can give you is maybe
- 17:38you've been around a stove.
- 17:39Okay, I'm sure you have.
- 17:40And if I tell you don't touch the
- 17:42stove because it's hot, you're like, okay, but
- 17:45then the minute you, whoa, you had your
- 17:47hand right back there, reflex.
- 17:48You don't touch the stove again.
- 17:50It's not from me telling you it's hot.
- 17:52It's from you basically almost burning yourself that
- 17:56you respond.
- 17:57So the experience of almost burning your hand
- 18:00gets you to pull away quickly.
- 18:02Like, I'm not doing that again.
- 18:03That's hot as you know what.
- 18:05So the experience is important and it teaches
- 18:09faster than any theory as reality will accelerate
- 18:14the learning all the time.
- 18:17So when you immerse yourself in something, this
- 18:19is something that a lot of the companies
- 18:22have implemented that when you learn a language
- 18:24by immersion, which is like the best way
- 18:27to learn a language, you understand the different
- 18:33caveats.
- 18:34You understand how words come together.
- 18:38You're not just seeing them.
- 18:40You're living them.
- 18:41You're experiencing them.
- 18:45Number 22, guys.
- 18:48Understanding deepens over our time and clarity compounds
- 18:52gradually.
- 18:54So many people get upset.
- 18:55Oh, I can't do this right away.
- 18:56It's not fast enough.
- 18:58It's not fast enough.
- 19:02But maybe it's that we're rushing.
- 19:06We're not enjoying the moment.
- 19:08And when we rush through something, we may
- 19:12miss something even better because we're trying to
- 19:16rush through it.
- 19:18Number 23, clarity builds confidence.
- 19:24Whether you're studying for a test, you're preparing
- 19:28for a presentation, maybe you have to do
- 19:37some type of work that requires you to
- 19:40know what you're doing.
- 19:43And when you do, not only will you
- 19:46be confident, but you're able to share that
- 19:47with others.
- 19:48And when we share with others, guess what
- 19:49happens?
- 19:50You learn more.
- 19:53So when you teach yourself, it's one thing,
- 19:55but when you have to teach someone else,
- 19:58you're gonna teach yourself again, that's the second
- 19:59time, and the third time when you taught
- 20:01them.
- 20:01So basically, you're gonna learn the material three
- 20:04times.
- 20:04Once you're gonna learn it yourself, then when
- 20:06you, let's say you're gonna take the material
- 20:08again, it'll be once for you and then
- 20:10once for the person who teaches you.
- 20:11If you're not doing it that way, then
- 20:12you're just gonna learn it twice.
- 20:13You're gonna learn it once when you learn
- 20:14it and once when you teach it to
- 20:17someone.
- 20:18Most people that teach something have already learned
- 20:21it and they are just trying to figure
- 20:25out how to present it to someone in
- 20:26a way that makes sense.
- 20:29Number 24, guys, truth simplifies complexity.
- 20:36Confusion begins to dissolve.
- 20:39It begins to dissolve.
- 20:41And when we know it begins to dissolve,
- 20:43we know that our life has changed.
- 20:48A lot of people think that confusion is
- 20:50the only way that we can be anywhere.
- 20:53No.
- 20:55Confusion exists because people wanna manipulate you.
- 21:01Just being honest, guys, that's the honest truth.
- 21:05Number 25, all beliefs fade.
- 21:10Fade.
- 21:11And when that happens, repetition weakens and outdated
- 21:15thinking, well, it just sort of surfaces.
- 21:19And we're like, well, I wasn't like this
- 21:21before.
- 21:22I don't care if you weren't like it
- 21:24before, you're like this now.
- 21:26So we need to change it.
- 21:35And that's something that is hard for a
- 21:38lot of people to recognize.
- 21:44That's very hard.
- 21:46They don't understand that your level of knowledge,
- 21:54they don't understand that new truth stabilize the
- 22:00direction.
- 22:03And that the alignment makes it clear, number
- 22:0626.
- 22:07But the repetition weakens outdated thinking.
- 22:12And it causes us to replace the outdated
- 22:15thinking with a new paradigm, with a new
- 22:18lesson, with a new program.
- 22:20Kind of like, you know, you load a
- 22:22program on a computer and when you close
- 22:25it, you open another one, another program loads,
- 22:27but that program's gone, right?
- 22:32With a different purpose.
- 22:33One program can help you surf the internet.
- 22:35Another program can help you write documents.
- 22:37Another program can help you do Excel sheets,
- 22:41calculate formulas.
- 22:42Another one can help you scan documents.
- 22:44Another one can help you do graphic design.
- 22:47Another program can take dictation from you.
- 22:55Number 27, guys.
- 22:58Awareness creates an alignment.
- 23:00Thought and action will connect.
- 23:03But again, I wanna tell you this, it
- 23:05is not going to be overnight.
- 23:07And if you think it's gonna be overnight,
- 23:09you are going to be very, very disappointed.
- 23:15I think when we change and don't expect
- 23:21something right away, it happens sooner than we
- 23:28want.
- 23:29But when we decide that we've gotta get
- 23:31it now, it feels like everything around us
- 23:34is blocking us from that.
- 23:38And it's because we put so much stress
- 23:39on ourself to have to get it now.
- 23:41What if we get it tomorrow?
- 23:43What if we get it next week?
- 23:44What if we get it next month?
- 23:45Does it really matter?
- 23:47No.
- 23:48But that level of stress that gets applied
- 23:51is brutal.
- 23:54Okay, I had enough.
- 23:55I don't wanna do this.
- 23:56I don't wanna do this at all.
- 23:57So it just like gives up.
- 23:59Number 28, guys.
- 24:01Thinking transforms reality.
- 24:02I gotta get some more water here.
- 24:06Thinking transforms reality.
- 24:09When we think, our whole image of what
- 24:16the world is breaks down and it rebuilds
- 24:22into what we are envisioning.
- 24:26And that changes our thought process.
- 24:29And the thought process then sets us up
- 24:31for a different expectation.
- 24:34And we learn before that wherever our thoughts
- 24:39go, that's where the energy is gonna flow.
- 24:43That's the truth, guys.
- 24:45You focus on good things in your life,
- 24:47more good things are gonna happen.
- 24:48You focus on being grateful, the more grateful
- 24:49things are gonna show up in your life
- 24:51you can be grateful for.
- 24:53Number 29, logic evolves, reasoning adapts to the
- 25:00truth.
- 25:02Logic might make sense in engineering, but it
- 25:06doesn't make sense with people.
- 25:09It's not logical.
- 25:11It's illogical.
- 25:12Sometimes people are illogical.
- 25:14They're people, just how they are.
- 25:19Number 30, guys.
- 25:21Truth will always rewrite your identity.
- 25:26This one is very powerful.
- 25:28Who you are updates through your sense of
- 25:34awareness that things you see, hear, touch, taste,
- 25:40smell.
- 25:42And even your body's proprioception to whether my
- 25:44arm is high or whether my foot is
- 25:46low, that is about your awareness.
- 25:51I could spend days talking on just awareness,
- 25:53but think about awareness right now if you
- 25:56could think about it.
- 25:58And you literally could think about the fact
- 26:00of you hearing my voice and how that
- 26:05sound is coming into you and how that
- 26:07is changing your present state, your present mood,
- 26:11okay?
- 26:12I think that's a very important thing to
- 26:17understand is that whole concept is what can
- 26:23get us to move forward, to get us
- 26:25to stay still, or to get us to
- 26:28digress and go backwards.
- 26:31Ladies and gentlemen, when truth enters a system,
- 26:35it never negotiates.
- 26:37It corrects whatever is wrong or the misread
- 26:42perception.
- 26:44And once that correction chain, because it's a
- 26:46chain, sometimes one thing doesn't just get corrected,
- 26:50begins everything built on the old assumptions.
- 26:55Or I like to say collapse and we...
- 26:58Everything, even the things that you were not
- 27:01aware of suddenly change.
- 27:04Most people think change is emotional, but change
- 27:07is structural.
- 27:09What you believe determines what you see in
- 27:12our world.
- 27:13What you see determines how you act and
- 27:16how you act determines your results.
- 27:21At first, change feels like an annoying disruption
- 27:26because old beliefs resist new information.
- 27:29That's just the way it goes.
- 27:30But resistance is not failure, guys.
- 27:34It's friction between the old identity and the
- 27:38new awareness that you're starting to perceive.
- 27:44That friction is where transformation, ladies and gentlemen,
- 27:47begins.
- 27:49Number 31, guys, signals change.
- 27:52And this is very important for us to
- 27:54know because with the signals changing, I think
- 27:57there's a lot that we can actually experience.
- 28:03And I say this to you because if
- 28:05we can be aware of one thing, just
- 28:09one thing, maybe you could be aware of
- 28:13how that caterpillar starts and turns into a
- 28:17butterfly.
- 28:19That's pretty interesting, isn't it?
- 28:21Or maybe aware of how the sound of
- 28:25an electric piano sounds from a regular string
- 28:31piano.
- 28:33Or being aware of every percussion instrument in
- 28:37the band as opposed to just the strings.
- 28:42Awareness helps us separate things out very, very
- 28:45easily, but it doesn't always end immediately.
- 28:51It rebuilds slowly over time.
- 28:55And suddenly, we're not the same person that
- 29:00we once were.
