• 0:10
Speaker 1: Hey, what's going on? Everybody? Welcome into this edition of
• 0:13
Speaker 1: the chech O Daily.
• 0:14
Speaker 2: Andrew Decheco here, Eagles beat reporter for insidethbirds dot Com,
• 0:18
Speaker 2: with the final podcast of the week until the Eagles play.
• 0:21
Speaker 1: The Lions, and I'll have one for you after that.
• 0:24
Speaker 2: But we'll talk about the game status and the final
• 0:27
Speaker 2: injury report published ahead of Eagles Lions. Big game for
• 0:31
Speaker 2: the Eagles, needless to say, Sunday Night Football at Lincoln
• 0:34
Speaker 2: Financial Field, and based off the injury report and the
• 0:38
Speaker 2: game status, all players on the fifty three man roster
• 0:42
Speaker 2: are available and can play Sunday Night great and that
• 0:48
Speaker 2: includes center Cam Jurgens, who is a full participant. The
• 0:51
Speaker 2: only player who had any sort of game designation was
• 0:55
Speaker 2: Willie Lampkin, the Eagles guard slash center, and he's questionable
• 1:00
Speaker 2: with the knee ankle, but he's.
• 1:03
Speaker 1: Not on the fifty three man roster.
• 1:04
Speaker 2: He had his practice window opened last week and therefore
• 1:10
Speaker 2: he's listed regardless with the designation of questionable.
• 1:15
Speaker 1: So the Eagles are going into this game remarkably healthy. Now.
• 1:18
Speaker 2: The same can't be said for the Detroit Lions. They
• 1:21
Speaker 2: will be without tight end Sam Laporta. They will be
• 1:24
Speaker 2: without cornerback Terry and Arnold. They will be without safety
• 1:28
Speaker 2: Kirby Joseph. Three huge losses for them in this matchup.
• 1:33
Speaker 2: Kirby Joseph is one of the best safeties in the NFL,
• 1:36
Speaker 2: and you pair him next to Brian.
• 1:37
Speaker 1: Branch who I absolutely love.
• 1:40
Speaker 2: He's a do it all playmaker, versatile out of Alabama.
• 1:44
Speaker 2: That's arguably the best safety tannem in the NFL. And
• 1:47
Speaker 2: now you're looking at it from an offensive perspective and
• 1:51
Speaker 2: not having Sam Laporta means that brock Wright, who has
• 1:56
Speaker 2: I believe six catches for seventy one yards and two
• 1:59
Speaker 2: touchdowns on the seat and will be stepping into the
• 2:02
  Speaker 2: starting role.
• 2:03
Speaker 1: And they also have Ross Dwelly.
• 2:05
Speaker 2: Who though some of you may remember from his time
• 2:07
Speaker 2: with the San Francisco forty nine ers. But to not
• 2:09
Speaker 2: have Sam Laporta, who is a safety valve for Jared Goff,
• 2:12
Speaker 2: who is someone who can affect the red zone and
• 2:17
Speaker 2: I think the intermediary levels of the field, he's a
• 2:19
Speaker 2: force to be reckoned with. Not to have him there
• 2:21
Speaker 2: and you can argue he could be viewed as an
• 2:23
Speaker 2: X factor if he was available, that's a huge loss
• 2:26
Speaker 2: for Detroit but that's their situation right now. And then
• 2:32
Speaker 2: that means at corner without Terry and Arnold, and he
• 2:35
Speaker 2: hasn't quite lived up to his first round billing. There's
• 2:38
Speaker 2: been flashes, but the lack of consistency. That means that
• 2:42
Speaker 2: you're going to see a lot of Rocky Scene, who
• 2:44
Speaker 2: was drafted in the first round a number of years
• 2:47
Speaker 2: ago by the Colts.
• 2:48
Speaker 1: He bounced around the league a little bit. He's out
• 2:49
  Speaker 1: of temple.
• 2:50
Speaker 2: You'll see a lot of him, Arthur Mallett, who has
• 2:53
Speaker 2: been a sort of a journeyman type of corner, and
• 2:56
Speaker 2: Amic Robertson, who is a smaller defensive back about five
• 3:00
Speaker 2: foot eight. He's their nickel defender. So that's the situation
• 3:04
Speaker 2: going into it. And I look at what the Eagles
• 3:07
Speaker 2: have from a health perspective, and it is remarkable and
• 3:10
Speaker 2: it's not you can't be this healthy all the time
• 3:14
Speaker 2: and then chalk it up his luck. I think the
• 3:15
Speaker 2: Eagles are doing a really nice job in figuring out
• 3:19
Speaker 2: a way to ensure the health and making sure you're
• 3:22
Speaker 2: getting adequate practice time. They invest a lot in that,
• 3:27
Speaker 2: and I think that is a testament to the athletic
• 3:30
Speaker 2: training staff and also Nick Sirianni for setting the pace
• 3:33
Speaker 2: there in terms of the practice schedule and how they
• 3:37
  Speaker 2: sort of.
• 3:39
Speaker 1: How they go about their business from that standpoint.
• 3:42
Speaker 2: But the Detroit Lions and under Dan Campbell, they've been
• 3:46
  Speaker 2: a team that's battled a lot of injuries, and I
• 3:48
Speaker 2: think that is a direct byproduct of Dan Campbell's aggressive,
• 3:52
Speaker 2: physical type of mindset and to not have three key
• 3:57
Speaker 2: players in this game. Talk about the Green Bay Packers game,
• 4:00
Speaker 2: and they were without Tucker Kraft, who's on injured reserve,
• 4:03
Speaker 2: but he is there.
• 4:05
Speaker 1: He was their top receiver.
• 4:06
Speaker 2: They didn't have Matthew Golden, they were missing Nate Hobbs
• 4:10
  Speaker 2: in that game.
• 4:11
Speaker 1: So the Eagles catch teams at the right time.
• 4:14
Speaker 2: But you also have to tip your cap to they're
• 4:18
Speaker 2: an uncanny knack for always having players or having a
• 4:23
Speaker 2: short and abbreviated injury list that's not by accident. But
• 4:27
Speaker 2: really quickly, we'll talk about a couple of the matchups
• 4:30
Speaker 2: to keep an eye on, and I think you also
• 4:33
Speaker 2: first have to look at the cornerback spot. That's an
• 4:35
Speaker 2: area where I believe the Lions are vulnerable, and in
• 4:39
Speaker 2: order to score points and keep pace with the Lions,
• 4:43
Speaker 2: the Eagles are gonna have to turn some things loose
• 4:45
Speaker 2: here and have more of an urgency offensively, and I
• 4:48
Speaker 2: think the Lions could set the pace there and get
• 4:52
Speaker 2: the Eagles a little bit to deviate from their risk
• 4:55
Speaker 2: averse philosophical approach to offense, and they're always going to
• 4:59
Speaker 2: pry ties ball security, but I think you can strike
• 5:02
Speaker 2: that balance and against a team like the Detroit Lions,
• 5:05
Speaker 2: you're going to have to push the ball down the field.
• 5:07
Speaker 2: This should on paper heavily favored DeVante Smith and AJ Brown,
• 5:12
Speaker 2: and it would behoove the Eagles to get AJ Brown
• 5:15
Speaker 2: off to a fast start on some slant routes, whatever
• 5:18
Speaker 2: it is, get the ball in his hands and allow
• 5:20
Speaker 2: him to start setting the tone. And I think that
• 5:24
Speaker 2: Dallas Goddard this game, and I should mention that without
• 5:28
Speaker 2: Kirby Joseph, Thomas Harper will be starting. He's bounced around
• 5:32
Speaker 2: to a couple teams. He was an undrafted free agent
• 5:34
Speaker 2: last year at a Notre Dame, and I think when
• 5:38
Speaker 2: you look at Jack Campbell and Alex Azelone, Jack Campbell
• 5:41
Speaker 2: has turned out to be a fantastic player. But you
• 5:44
Speaker 2: couple that with Thomas Harper, and I think the middle
• 5:47
Speaker 2: of the field should be able to be an area
• 5:51
Speaker 2: in which the Eagles can operate and get Dallas got
• 5:54
Speaker 2: out at the football. There was a brief moment where
• 5:57
Speaker 2: Hertz and Dallas Goddard had a nice connection in the
• 6:00
Speaker 2: Green Bay game. It was short lived and really the
• 6:03
Speaker 2: passing game didn't materialize, but I think that that's something
• 6:07
Speaker 2: that they can hang their hat on.
• 6:09
Speaker 1: But you have to make sure.
• 6:10
Speaker 2: That you're getting aj Brown involved early because this is
• 6:13
Speaker 2: a matchup where you got to get the ball in
• 6:15
Speaker 2: the hands of your best playmaker from a receiving.
• 6:17
Speaker 1: Standpoint, and that is aj Brown.
• 6:20
Speaker 2: But you also, if you're the Eagles defense, you have
• 6:23
Speaker 2: to take into account the two headed rushing attack that
• 6:27
Speaker 2: the Detroit Lions have in Jamier Gibbs and David Montgomery.
• 6:31
Speaker 1: They've both been highly productive.
• 6:34
Speaker 2: They both have over one hundred carries this season, and
• 6:37
Speaker 2: it's sort of the sonic and whatever they call it,
• 6:42
Speaker 2: Sonic and thunder, I don't know, but either way, they
• 6:45
Speaker 2: have two players there who compliment each other quite well.
• 6:48
Speaker 2: Jamier Gibbs is one of my favorite players to watch
• 6:51
Speaker 2: in the NFL, and not having Laporta, perhaps the Lions
• 6:56
Speaker 2: utilize Jamiir Gibbs who is a do it all running.
• 6:59
Speaker 1: Back as that safety valve check down option.
• 7:02
Speaker 2: Try to get him in space and feature him maybe
• 7:04
Speaker 2: a little bit more in the receiving game, and that
• 7:07
Speaker 2: really underscores the importance if you're the Eagles in open
• 7:10
Speaker 2: field tackling. It becomes all the more paramount when you're
• 7:12
Speaker 2: going against a team like the Detroit Lions that have
• 7:16
Speaker 2: a multitude of playmakers and an offense that is really
• 7:20
Speaker 2: balanced in both the run and the pass. So I
• 7:23
Speaker 2: think Jamiir Gibbs is a player that you should be
• 7:25
Speaker 2: highlighting in this matchup. He's quickly become one of the
• 7:28
Speaker 2: best running backs in the NFL, and going into the draft,
• 7:32
Speaker 2: I actually was more bullish on Jamiir Gibbs than Bijon
• 7:35
Speaker 2: Robinson caught a little bit of flat at the time,
• 7:38
Speaker 2: but I had Jamir Gibbs rated higher than Bijon because
• 7:42
Speaker 2: of how I projected him at the next level and
• 7:46
Speaker 2: being that do it all threat. He didn't see a
• 7:48
Speaker 2: ton of volume in college, but I just saw a
• 7:50
Speaker 2: lot of potential and a lot of mismatchability that he presents,
• 7:54
Speaker 2: and you're seeing it really manifests at the next level
• 7:57
Speaker 2: here Throughout his short time in the NFL. But Jamison
• 8:02
Speaker 2: Williams is another player that I think if you're the Eagles,
• 8:04
Speaker 2: you need to know where he is at all times.
• 8:07
Speaker 2: Seventeen points six yards per catch this season, twenty seven catches,
• 8:11
  Speaker 2: four touchdowns.
• 8:13
Speaker 1: That's an area where that's a player that.
• 8:17
Speaker 2: If he catches, you know, the defense have been going
• 8:20
Speaker 2: through some communication issues or elapse. He can get behind
• 8:23
Speaker 2: a defense and score and he can rip off chunk
• 8:27
Speaker 2: plays at a time.
• 8:28
  Speaker 1: Now.
• 8:28
Speaker 2: I expected him to be a little bit more of
• 8:30
Speaker 2: a well rounded receiver coming out, but he is a
• 8:34
Speaker 2: vertical threat and he can hurt you there. So if
• 8:37
Speaker 2: you're the Eagles and you're Adori Jackson, yeah, that's something
• 8:42
Speaker 2: that you need to be on high alert for because
• 8:45
Speaker 2: Jared Goff throws the ball with good touch and accuracy
• 8:48
Speaker 2: and he keeps that offense on schedule, but he's not
• 8:51
Speaker 2: afraid to rip it down the field. And so Jamison
• 8:54
Speaker 2: Williams is a player that Eagles fans should be well
• 8:57
Speaker 2: aware of where he is at all times because he
• 9:00
Speaker 2: can hurt you, and he can and he can flip
• 9:03
Speaker 2: the tide on on one given play.
• 9:06
Speaker 3: Hey it's Jeff Mosher, And if you have a family
• 9:08

• 11:46
Speaker 2: So offensive line, there's gonna be a couple of former
• 11:49
Speaker 2: Egles in this game, one being on the offensive line,
• 11:51
Speaker 2: starting at left guard, Coyote Awashika, who's on the Eagles
• 11:55
Speaker 2: practice squad for a while. Avonte Maddox returns to Philadelphia
• 11:58
Speaker 2: for the first time since signing with Detroit in the offseason.
• 12:02
Speaker 2: Of course, Avonte Maddox had a nice pass break up
• 12:05
Speaker 2: in the Super Bowl. So a couple of former Eagles there,
• 12:09
Speaker 2: and I think from an interior offensive line perspective, I'm
• 12:13
Speaker 2: looking at Awashika, Graham Glass now who's their center, and
• 12:18
Speaker 2: their right guard Tate Rutlich, who's a rookie they drafted
• 12:20
Speaker 2: him in the second round. This sets up to be
• 12:22
Speaker 2: a game in which Jalen Carter and Moro Jomo are
• 12:26
Speaker 2: disruptive upfront and are able to kind of take advantage
• 12:29
Speaker 2: of certain matchups to force Jarret Goff off his spot
• 12:33
Speaker 2: because he's not fleet footed, and if you are able
• 12:36
Speaker 2: to move him and get him sort of hesitant and
• 12:40
Speaker 2: making hasty decisions, well, that's going to favor the secondary
• 12:43
Speaker 2: in the back end and keep their offense off schedule.
• 12:47
Speaker 2: So that's something that I'm looking forward to seeing how
• 12:50
Speaker 2: that transpires. And then also from the other side of things,
• 12:54
Speaker 2: Cam Jurgens, he's going to be wearing a hefty brace
• 12:57
Speaker 2: on his right knee.
• 12:58
Speaker 1: If he's able to go and pursue, he will be going.
• 13:02
Speaker 2: He's going to be seeing a lot of Lee McNeil
• 13:04
Speaker 2: and Alee McNeil was drafted in the same draft as
• 13:07
Speaker 2: Milton Williams and there was some deliberation there if you
• 13:10
Speaker 2: remember in the war room whether it should be Milton
• 13:12
Speaker 2: Williams or Alee McNeil. The Eagles were really excited that
• 13:15
Speaker 2: they got Milton Williams, but there was someone in that
• 13:17
Speaker 2: room who really wanted a Lee McNeil, you could tell,
• 13:20
Speaker 2: and that that's the story as old as time. But
• 13:22
Speaker 2: McNeil is a good player and I think for a
• 13:25
Speaker 2: player coming off a knee injury like Cam Jurgens and
• 13:28
Speaker 2: you're going against someone who has a quick get off
• 13:30
Speaker 2: these physical, heavy hands like McNeil is, that's something to
• 13:36
Speaker 2: keep an eye on in the middle of the trenches
• 13:38
Speaker 2: there because that can impact a lot of things for
• 13:42
Speaker 2: the Eagles offense and cause that to sputter if he's
• 13:45
Speaker 2: getting some penetration up the middle and forcing Jaywen Hurts
• 13:48
Speaker 2: off his spot and then all of a sudden he's
• 13:51
Speaker 2: on the move and having to make those throws, and
• 13:54
Speaker 2: it just it can completely add a different wrinkle to
• 13:58
Speaker 2: the game plan. If the interior, if you're getting interior pressure.
• 14:02
Speaker 2: So that's a matchup that you should all be keeping
• 14:04
Speaker 2: an eye on as well. And how about Cooper Degen
• 14:07
Speaker 2: versus Monro Saint Brown, the very prolific and high volume
• 14:13
Speaker 2: slot receiver for the Detroit Lions, one of the best
• 14:16
Speaker 2: in the business at what he does. Cooper Degene is
• 14:19
Speaker 2: the best in the business at what he does, being
• 14:22
Speaker 2: that nickel corner, and so expect Jared Goff to get
• 14:26
Speaker 2: the ball to a Manra pretty early in that game.
• 14:30
Speaker 1: But Saint Brown is more of a short to intermediate
• 14:33
  Speaker 1: level receiver.
• 14:34
Speaker 2: They get the ball to him quickly, and they allow
• 14:36
Speaker 2: him to maneuver after the catch, and he's really good
• 14:39
Speaker 2: at creating separation at the top of his routes and
• 14:42
Speaker 2: that short area of quickness. So that's gonna be good
• 14:45
Speaker 2: on good, and that's something that you know, as a
• 14:49
Speaker 2: football fan, you should be really really enjoying that matchup,
• 14:52
Speaker 2: or at least look forward to it. And when the
• 14:54
Speaker 2: schedule came out, that was something that this is just
• 14:57
Speaker 2: the way my mind works, I sort of highlighted that
• 15:00
Speaker 2: as something that I was really going to be looking
• 15:02
Speaker 2: forward to this season. Seeing Cooper Degen versus mon Ross
• 15:05
Speaker 2: Saint Brown. I think that's going to be an excellent matchup.
• 15:09
Speaker 3: Hey, Philly fans, game day is stressful enough. Parking, traffic,
• 15:14
Speaker 3: long lines, We've all been there, But when it comes
• 15:16

• 16:12
