[SPEAKER_01]: All right, welcome back to others receiving votes.
0:05
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a minty fresh edition if you're watching us on YouTube.
0:09
[SPEAKER_01]: We've got Brian with a bright green background, and we've got Gene in his green Augusta, quarters up, looking John Teo's British Openware.
0:20
[SPEAKER_01]: I think the last show, and we were moving through all the majors, so we're doing.
0:24
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, plus is kind of Christmasy and I got the tree up.
0:27
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, you do.
0:28
[SPEAKER_01]: You got a nice little tree.
0:29
[SPEAKER_01]: Excellent.
0:30
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
0:30
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
0:31
[SPEAKER_01]: We're in the spirit here.
0:32
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we're really, what I really want to find out is any of us going to take the, uh, the Penn State job who wants it.
0:38
[SPEAKER_01]: Either you.
0:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody much does a pay more than this podcast pay.
0:45
[SPEAKER_01]: I would recommend taking it if it's offered.
0:53
[SPEAKER_01]: uh... also on this week's show the uh... playoffs weekly tv show somehow keeps getting worse uh... we offer our own twelve playoff teams with a twist and extended spin around the coaching carousel a nod to three notable signing day stories our commenters commenting on comments segment from facebook yeah and our winners and state dinner's picks championship week edition and
1:23
[SPEAKER_01]: cautionary tale about alcohol use, stay tuned for that one.
1:28
[SPEAKER_01]: But gentlemen, let's start with the playoff because it's time.
1:33
[SPEAKER_01]: We've been talking about it all season.
1:35
[SPEAKER_01]: And now it is basically at hand.
1:37
[SPEAKER_01]: The selection Sunday will happen after this couple days after this show and before our next show.
1:43
[SPEAKER_01]: So we will be back actually for a live, not live, but a quick reaction Sunday afternoon.
1:53
[SPEAKER_01]: but guys college football is a renowned incubator of bad ideas and in my opinion one of the worst was the brainstorm of having a TV show for five straight weeks with incremental updates to the selection committee's rankings none of which actually matter only the last rankings matter.
2:11
[SPEAKER_01]: This serves only one purpose to make everybody mad and to expose the inconsistencies in the committees thinking and undercut the committee's credibility.
2:23
[SPEAKER_01]: So Tuesday night might have been the silliest one yet, just to briefly recap there.
2:29
[SPEAKER_01]: The biggest news was,
2:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Alabama moving up one spot, Notre Dame moving down one spot in their relation to who's on the bubble.
2:41
[SPEAKER_01]: Notre Dame is now the most on the bubble team at number 10.
2:44
[SPEAKER_01]: Alabama is number nine, and when Hunter Yurichek was asked about this, this is a selection committee chairman.
2:54
[SPEAKER_01]: He gave credit to Alabama for their impressive victory over Auburn.
3:00
[SPEAKER_01]: Auburn's no good.
3:01
[SPEAKER_01]: Auburn is five and seven.
3:03
[SPEAKER_01]: Said Auburn's been very tough at home this year.
3:06
[SPEAKER_01]: No, actually, Auburn hasn't been.
3:08
[SPEAKER_01]: Auburn is winless in SEC home games, including a 10 to three loss.
3:12
[SPEAKER_01]: Took in Tucky, who is terrible.
3:15
[SPEAKER_01]: So, slight inconsistency there.
3:18
[SPEAKER_01]: If he had just said, we kind of now think Alabama's better than Notre Dame.
3:23
[SPEAKER_01]: That might have been better than just making stuff up as he was going along.
3:30
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, the coast is in eighties and the politicians now have started politicking.
3:34
[SPEAKER_01]: We've got Ron DeSantis weighing in in favor of Miami, who's on the outside looking in.
3:40
[SPEAKER_01]: We want to take a look just at the overall situation here.
3:45
[SPEAKER_01]: And you guys tell me, who is then the most trouble or got the biggest boost coming into the final weekend, Brian go ahead and lead us off here.
3:55
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I think it's the ACC, you know, look, their highest ranked team right now is number 12 Miami.
4:00
[SPEAKER_00]: That's the the highest at large candidate that they have in the league.
4:04
[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously the the big news, I think that outside of you, you're saying that the swap there in the communities top 25 was the fact that look, you got number 17 Virginia playing an unranked five lost Duke team that now has to worry about the fact that James Madison is ranked in the top 25.
4:22
[SPEAKER_00]: You have certainly the winner of the Americans going to get that group of five bid number one.
4:26
[SPEAKER_00]: So the ACC is in very real danger of missing out completely on the playoffs.
4:31
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I think that was my biggest takeaway from the rankings is that Jim Phillips is going to be sweating out selection Sunday.
4:38
[SPEAKER_00]: and especially so if Duke ends up winning their in Charlotte and look yes the who's won the won the first meeting this year uh I think we can all safely say that Duke has not been completely impressive they've had their moments this year but they haven't beaten anybody with an an over 500 record in ACC play so this is a very concerning thing I think if you're you're an ACC territory going into this final weekend because
5:02
[SPEAKER_00]: You are one upset away from completely missing the playoff, and I think that's unfathomable to some people, but it's a very real possibility right now, and I think that's concerning, if you're anybody associated with ACC football, much less there in the conference office there in Charlotte.
5:19
[SPEAKER_00]: That's for the biggest boost, I think it's probably going to be old miss.
5:22
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, how many weeks have we been talking about how, how will that laying kiff in situation?
5:26
[SPEAKER_00]: impact old misses seeding and it seems like from Tuesday's ranking not at all, you know, that they keep talking about not having data points and all this of not having their coaches around and it seems like old miss is going to have the party ready to go in a couple of weeks there on outside the grove because they're going to get a home game.
5:43
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that was the other big takeaway for me and probably the biggest boost out of Tuesday's rankings.
5:49
[SPEAKER_02]: 40 you're you're going to kill me man what that so i'm just preparing you right now i'm okay the the the most entity that's in trouble is me then the committee okay me because i actually like the weekly show oh no all right and
6:12
[SPEAKER_02]: All you are going to do if they didn't have the weekly show, you're going to talk about how there's no transparency in this process.
6:20
[SPEAKER_02]: So I'll take clumsy, in dire need of media training, transparency, and have the weekly show.
6:31
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't need the weekly show.
6:34
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I wouldn't, you know, shed a tear if it went away, but I don't mind it.
6:39
[SPEAKER_02]: And I think even though it's, it's in increments and it can be painful to watch and listen to and try to understand at least there is some attempt at transparency, which I appreciate.
6:55
[SPEAKER_02]: As for Hunter, you're a check.
6:57
[SPEAKER_02]: I give him some grace because he was parachuted
7:04
[SPEAKER_02]: midway through this process, and clearly he's not cut out for the TV part of it.
7:12
[SPEAKER_02]: and it shows, but I do appreciate his attempt in a very difficult situation.
7:19
[SPEAKER_02]: As far as, again, being put in a difficult position, I do not envy this committee this weekend after these games, especially if we get the kind of chaos and madness that is possible, I think that gonna have a really difficult job and I do not envy that.
7:42
[SPEAKER_02]: I've sort of said all along on this podcast that I hoped that the committee would not penalize Ole Miss for what was happening, the silliness that was happening off the field.
7:54
[SPEAKER_02]: And so I'm gratified that it didn't do that, that it rewarded Ole Miss and those players for what they accomplished on the field.
8:03
[SPEAKER_02]: and let Ole Miss be.
8:05
[SPEAKER_02]: In fact, I think they what they bumped them up a spot, didn't they?
8:08
[SPEAKER_02]: So I think they recognized the team that Ole Miss is.
8:13
[SPEAKER_02]: I give them credit for that.
8:15
[SPEAKER_02]: And so I'm with Brian.
8:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, biggest boost.
8:19
[SPEAKER_02]: You like the TV show.
8:21
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't mind the team.
8:24
[SPEAKER_02]: But I do like seeing you hit the red line this early in the morning.
8:28
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, yeah.
8:29
[SPEAKER_01]: They get me going.
8:31
[SPEAKER_01]: That's for sure.
8:32
[SPEAKER_01]: My the problem to me is just, I get what you're saying about transparency and we're in the media.
8:38
[SPEAKER_01]: We should be in favor of transparency, right?
8:42
[SPEAKER_01]: If they can explain it, it would help.
8:45
[SPEAKER_01]: If they could actually, you know, coherently logically,
8:50
[SPEAKER_01]: either that or just don't explain I don't know which and I think we might have talked about this earlier you know put a camera in there whatever you know if there's something that would let us see them sensibly deliberate this stuff you know if you think what a talk about a credibility boost when the ACC let us watch and listen to the replay center review
9:13
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they're going like, oh, these people know what they're doing and they're they're thinking about it to, you know, competently, that might help us understand this thing too.
9:22
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, you know, yes, okay, there may be some level of chilling effect on people speaking openly and maybe the camera isn't on all the time, but some, if we could do this, we could have, I guess I'm arguing both sides here, guys.
9:34
[SPEAKER_01]: No transparency just put out the rankings on the last day or more transparency and let us in the
9:43
[SPEAKER_01]: So those would, I guess, be my thoughts on that.
9:48
[SPEAKER_01]: I, you know, as far as biggest boost, biggest in trouble, I think I, I said, I think they took care of Alabama.
9:55
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not, I'm not sure Alabama shouldn't already be ahead another day.
9:59
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
10:00
[SPEAKER_01]: Like that may just be where they should have been, but to use a shaky victory.
10:06
[SPEAKER_01]: over a bad team has the reason to put him ahead.
10:10
[SPEAKER_01]: So I, you know, good for Alabama, potentially bad for Notre Dame, and I still feel bad for Miami, which I think probably should be ahead of Notre Dame.
10:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Have the same record, they beat him head to head.
10:22
[SPEAKER_01]: and head to head should matter more than it sometimes does.
10:26
[SPEAKER_01]: That's another one of these.
10:27
[SPEAKER_01]: This is a classic college sports thing where like, we got this protocol and it says if the two teams are not close enough together, we can't compare them head to head.
10:37
[SPEAKER_01]: They're two spots apart.
10:39
[SPEAKER_01]: We saw them play each other on the field.
10:42
[SPEAKER_01]: They have the same record, and then we're well, because they're two spots apart.
10:45
[SPEAKER_01]: If they were one spot apart, we could.
10:47
[SPEAKER_01]: If they were three, to me, you're tying yourself and not.
10:51
[SPEAKER_01]: This is like the NCAA rulebook of, you can have a bagel, but you can't have cream cheese.
10:57
[SPEAKER_01]: I think,
10:59
[SPEAKER_01]: People overthink some of these things and we'll see how that turns out.
11:03
[SPEAKER_01]: I still think it's possible.
11:04
[SPEAKER_01]: Look if BYU almost certainly, which is between Notre Dame and Miami, is going up or down.
11:11
[SPEAKER_01]: Right?
11:11
[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to win and get in, in which case it's kind of moved for Notre Dame probably.
11:16
[SPEAKER_01]: But if they lose and move back,
11:19
[SPEAKER_01]: And then you can compare the head to head.
11:22
[SPEAKER_01]: Miami is here and Notre Dame is next to him.
11:26
[SPEAKER_01]: Then maybe they changed it.
11:27
[SPEAKER_01]: Remember then, boy, if you've waited all year for a technicality, basically, to matter.
11:33
[SPEAKER_02]: To your point, Pat, your check did say that there was a very spirited debate about Bama and Notre Dame.
11:42
[SPEAKER_02]: And I guess I would have liked to have heard what were the specific
11:48
[SPEAKER_02]: back and forth relative to those two teams.
11:50
[SPEAKER_02]: That would have been helpful.
11:52
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
11:52
[SPEAKER_02]: Simply say, yeah, there's a lot of, um,
11:56
[SPEAKER_02]: a lot of conflict in the room about those two in that in that topic.
12:00
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, that helps, but what exactly is is the just agreement about.
12:06
[SPEAKER_02]: So to to your point, I think that would have been very helpful.
12:11
[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't think that would have devolged any state secrets.
12:14
[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't think it would have compromised the integrity of the committee at all to just tell us what's the issue?
12:24
[SPEAKER_02]: What's
12:26
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, um, with you.
12:27
[SPEAKER_01]: And, and that's another, that goes back to your point actually about your check being in a completely thankless position.
12:34
[SPEAKER_01]: First of all, yes, he was a battlefield promotion for lack of a better term when Mac Rhodes was dismissed, basically, from Baylor.
12:43
[SPEAKER_01]: He was the committee chairman.
12:44
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, they go out of the bullpen and say, you get out there and didn't even have sufficient warm-up time.
12:51
[SPEAKER_01]: And then,
12:52
[SPEAKER_01]: a couple other factors there.
12:54
[SPEAKER_01]: He's been hiring a head coach.
12:56
[SPEAKER_01]: So he's kind of busy in his day job, right?
13:00
[SPEAKER_01]: Then the third thing is these, um,
13:04
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, these playoff these two days, if I don't know that you guys have done any of the mock selections, whether it's for football or for basketball, but it's two days of intense number crunching and comfort comparisons in Manusha and incremental stuff.
13:19
[SPEAKER_01]: And you come out of there in your head, kind of spin it and you're just like,
13:23
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, what, no-to-date with cash.
13:24
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we talked about no-to-date Miami, like seven hours ago.
13:26
[SPEAKER_01]: What exactly was the, you know, I mean, to have to try to recall that.
13:31
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, maybe you should think ahead and take some notes or something, but still, it's a very difficult position to be in.
13:36
[SPEAKER_01]: So, we're not here to kill Hunter, you're a check.
13:38
[SPEAKER_01]: Not, not at this moment.
13:41
[SPEAKER_00]: I did this moment, okay.
13:42
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, I mean, we'll say that for Sunday.
13:44
[SPEAKER_00]: Don't worry.
13:45
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, right, right.
13:46
[SPEAKER_01]: We reserved the right to come back and kill anybody.
13:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Also, along the lines of the playoff here, this is a good idea, I liked it.
14:00
[SPEAKER_01]: Construct our own top 12 teams.
14:02
[SPEAKER_01]: You throw out this playoff protocol.
14:05
[SPEAKER_01]: You don't have to have automatic bids or if you want more automatic bids, whatever.
14:11
[SPEAKER_01]: make build your own bracket, which we encourage all our listeners to do at home.
14:15
[SPEAKER_01]: Have fun.
14:16
[SPEAKER_01]: Nothing could be more fun than building a college football bracket could it?
14:20
[SPEAKER_01]: But it's a 12 teamer for now.
14:22
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to get emails from well, here's a great 48 team idea that I've been working on.
14:27
[SPEAKER_01]: No effect on the pity.
14:29
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, 11 automatic bids for the big 10, please.
14:35
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, all right,
14:38
[SPEAKER_01]: Can you give us your 12 team model?
14:41
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so my 12 team model is based on the idea of who are the 12 best teams right now?
14:50
[SPEAKER_02]: It's kind of the Marcus Freeman theory, Steve Sarkesian theory, and slash who would I least like to play?
15:01
[SPEAKER_02]: kind of idea.
15:02
[SPEAKER_02]: And so, number one, some of these obviously aren't going to be surprises.
15:06
[SPEAKER_02]: Number one, Ohio State, complete Doug, obviously.
15:10
[SPEAKER_02]: Indiana, as you said many times, Pat, they are the story of the year.
15:15
[SPEAKER_02]: There might be the story of the last two years in college football.
15:18
[SPEAKER_02]: They're number two, Georgia.
15:21
[SPEAKER_02]: not flawless, but just tough as hell, resilient, find a way.
15:28
[SPEAKER_02]: Oregon, four.
15:29
[SPEAKER_02]: I think they're sort of a Georgia junior, you know, they have found a way and they do it with toughness and physicality.
15:37
[SPEAKER_02]: number five, Texas Tech.
15:41
[SPEAKER_02]: If you want to talk about a return on investment, the red raiders are it as far as pouring in that portal and NIL money.
15:49
[SPEAKER_02]: Number six, I have Ole Miss.
15:52
[SPEAKER_02]: As I said before, I think the committee did the right thing by not penalizing Ole Miss for
16:00
[SPEAKER_02]: Kiffin going to LSU and we'll talk about this Charlie Weiss thing later.
16:06
[SPEAKER_02]: Number seven, Texas and M. Yes, they got exposed by Texas, but I think their body of work merits being number seven.
16:17
[SPEAKER_02]: A number eight, I have noted name.
16:20
[SPEAKER_02]: And yes, I know the two early losses A&M and Miami, but I think if you objectively just look at the level of play and Notre Dame, I think they're one of the better teams in this entire bracket and I have them at eight.
16:38
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't have them on a bubble.
16:39
[SPEAKER_02]: number nine, Oklahoma.
16:42
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm so sick and tired of hearing.
16:44
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, use offense.
16:46
[SPEAKER_02]: So shaky and I don't know if they deserve to be in.
16:49
[SPEAKER_02]: Have you watched their defense, by the way, why doesn't it count as much as as an offense?
16:58
[SPEAKER_02]: If you can't score, you can't beat them.
17:00
[SPEAKER_02]: and in jeans are having trouble scoring against them.
17:03
[SPEAKER_02]: So I got Oklahoma 9.
17:06
[SPEAKER_02]: I have Alabama 10 with the caveat that unless they get boat raised by Georgia, I think they're safe as a kid.
17:16
[SPEAKER_02]: Number 11,
17:17
[SPEAKER_02]: I have Miami and I have Miami for the same reason I have Notre Dame in there is they have recovered from there, from their stumbles, their losses and again if you look at the way they're playing I think they're worthy of being in this playoff and the number 12
17:36
[SPEAKER_02]: humor me just for a moment.
17:38
[SPEAKER_02]: I kind of have like a three-way BYU Vandy Texas debate going on.
17:44
[SPEAKER_02]: If BYU needs Texas tech, then all this is a moot point, they're in.
17:51
[SPEAKER_02]: But right now, I would have Vandy, I had a BYU in my top 12-13.
17:58
[SPEAKER_02]: But I have Texas ahead of either one of those.
18:02
[SPEAKER_02]: And yes, I know there's the horrific lawsuit Florida and they have the extra defeat and I get it.
18:12
[SPEAKER_02]: But
18:12
[SPEAKER_02]: They beat Oklahoma, they beat Vandy, they beat Texas Anim, and they had the stones to open up their season at Ohio State and played them tougher than anybody has played them the whole season.
18:28
[SPEAKER_02]: So yes, they lost that game, but I give them credit for going there and doing it and playing them as well as anybody else has played them.
18:38
[SPEAKER_02]: And I think if you ask the smart guys in Vegas,
18:41
[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, what the lines would be if it was BYU taxes or vanity taxes, I think Texas would be favored in either one of those games, but so let's have at it.
18:52
[SPEAKER_01]: This is a dick vital bracket of 64, but it's really 66.
18:55
[SPEAKER_02]: No, I said Texas is my 12 team.
18:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
18:58
[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm hearing you talking like 13, 14.
19:01
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, okay.
19:02
[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
19:03
[SPEAKER_02]: 12.
19:04
[SPEAKER_02]: There.
19:04
[SPEAKER_02]: Texas 12.
19:05
[SPEAKER_02]: You happy?
19:05
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
19:07
[SPEAKER_01]: Texas 12 with the possibility of VYU be why you knock them out.
19:11
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I guess.
19:12
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
19:12
[SPEAKER_02]: Do you why you wins?
19:13
[SPEAKER_02]: And it's going to be hard to argue for Texas in that instance.
19:17
[SPEAKER_01]: Brian, have that.
19:18
[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
19:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I think we're pretty much in agreement in terms of one, too, with Ohio State and Indiana, to elite teams out of the big ten.
19:26
[SPEAKER_00]: And we'll see what happens on Saturday.
19:28
[SPEAKER_00]: They're an Indianapolis.
19:29
[SPEAKER_00]: But I think everybody pretty safely has those as the top two.
19:33
[SPEAKER_00]: I've got Texas Tech at number three.
19:36
[SPEAKER_00]: I think just the way they play, the dominance that they've had.
19:38
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, you can debate their schedule in the big 12 while you want, but I think with those offensive and defensive lines, especially Bear Morton is healthy, I think that is a threat to actually not only make us to my final, but potentially get to the national title game as well, depending on their path this year.
20:00
[SPEAKER_00]: Georgia Jr. might delight some folks there in Eugene and might, uh, might rank some feathers there in, in Dan Landings camp a little bit, uh, given the comparisons to his old, uh, his old haunt there, but, uh, I think Oregon, especially if they're healthy, you know, that's, to me, is the one thing about the ducks this year.
20:16
[SPEAKER_00]: If they can get some wide receivers back, if they can get a little bit healthier on defense, I think the time-offs will really give them a boost, and I think they are capable at that, at the high end of winning the national title this year.
20:28
[SPEAKER_00]: I've got Georgia right behind them and followed by old myths.
20:31
[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, those two teams, I saw them up and up close in person, and that shootout they had in Athens, so I got Georgia, and then old myths will see what happens on Saturday, certainly with Bulldogs.
20:42
[SPEAKER_00]: I got Texas A&M.
20:43
[SPEAKER_00]: After that, I think they are still capable and with that past rush with cash show and all the guys that they have on offense, the playmakers, they have this is still a dangerous team.
20:52
[SPEAKER_00]: I think everybody might be putting a little too much stock in that rivalry game against Texas because they still think Texas A&M has what it takes to win a couple games in the playoffs.
21:03
[SPEAKER_00]: And then I've got Miami ahead of Notre Dame.
21:06
[SPEAKER_00]: which I think it's important to keep in mind that we actually have results of these two teams that seems to be forgotten.
21:13
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think Miami, the way they've improved these last couple of weeks too.
21:17
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they're blowing teams out there, taking care of business.
21:20
[SPEAKER_00]: This is a Miami team.
21:21
[SPEAKER_00]: You don't want to see that defensive line coming at you.
21:23
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, with those two guys coming off the edge, you got, you know, baby Jesus there in terms of Malachi Tony, one of the most
21:34
[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
21:35
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yes, absolutely.
21:37
[SPEAKER_00]: You got Carson back who's an experienced quarterback in these type of games in these types of situations.
21:41
[SPEAKER_00]: So I got Miami safely and followed by Notre Dame.
21:44
[SPEAKER_00]: Then I've got a triumphant of SEC teams.
21:47
[SPEAKER_00]: I do not have BYU.
21:48
[SPEAKER_00]: I've got Alabama.
21:49
[SPEAKER_00]: Then Mandy and then Oklahoma as the last team in.
21:52
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think you're right.
21:54
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I mean, that that Oklahoma defense almost not getting the credit that they deserve.
21:59
[SPEAKER_00]: because that's one of the best units I think in the country right now, you know, with what they can throw at you, print venables, he's been in these type of situations.
22:05
[SPEAKER_00]: He's been in playoff games before.
22:06
[SPEAKER_00]: He, you know, was with a couple weeks to prepare for an opponent.
22:10
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you, you better be prepared for getting some things thrown at your quarterback that you're not going to expect.
22:15
[SPEAKER_00]: And they've got the guys that they've got playmakers and that defense that can change the games.
22:19
[SPEAKER_00]: And we've seen this the last couple of weeks.
22:21
[SPEAKER_00]: I do have Oklahoma ahead of BYU, but it is a debate.
22:26
[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're at the
22:29
[SPEAKER_01]: So, did I hear this correctly?
22:31
[SPEAKER_01]: Nobody has a group of five team in there?
22:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Nope.
22:34
[SPEAKER_01]: Nope.
22:34
[SPEAKER_01]: Haters?
22:36
[SPEAKER_01]: Haters?
22:37
[SPEAKER_01]: Unbelievable.
22:38
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, best teams, buddy.
22:40
[SPEAKER_01]: That's your protocol.
22:41
[SPEAKER_01]: Guess what mine would be?
22:43
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
22:43
[SPEAKER_01]: I will love this.
22:45
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
22:46
[SPEAKER_01]: Nine automatic bids, every FBS conference champion gets in the tournament three at large.
22:53
[SPEAKER_01]: How about that one?
22:55
[SPEAKER_02]: Is that vodka you're drinking, you know?
22:59
[SPEAKER_01]: What is the last of all tournament runs?
23:02
[SPEAKER_01]: What is the last of all tournament runs?
23:04
[SPEAKER_01]: That's how the volleyball tournament runs, et cetera.
23:07
[SPEAKER_01]: Softball, win your conference championship and division one, get into the championship playoff.
23:16
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, look.
23:18
[SPEAKER_01]: I, that would create a lot of probably pretty bad games in the, uh, in the opening round.
23:23
[SPEAKER_01]: And that would be the kind of feeling there's a written millionaries.
23:25
[SPEAKER_01]: TV would laugh me out of the room, but if I'm talking to college leaders about do you want this to be an inclusive tournament or not, that's what I would say.
23:34
[SPEAKER_01]: Assuming we're not going to do that, right?
23:36
[SPEAKER_01]: Assuming that is not going to happen.
23:39
[SPEAKER_01]: I still I want at least one group of five champion in my tournament.
23:45
[SPEAKER_01]: So I am going to have one and right now it's the champion of the American see their North Texas or it's two lane.
23:51
[SPEAKER_01]: I think two lane could win in the battle of coaches who are headed elsewhere, which we'll get to in a minute.
23:59
[SPEAKER_01]: But so I'm going to go I'm going to I'm going to not
24:03
[SPEAKER_01]: die on the hill of nine automatic bids.
24:07
[SPEAKER_01]: So I would go like this.
24:08
[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, Ohio State in the end of one two.
24:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
24:11
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to go Georgia three.
24:14
[SPEAKER_01]: I think the SEC is the best league and the they are the best team in it.
24:18
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm fine with Texas Tech as a close four and Oregon five.
24:22
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm stick with Miami or Mississippi at six.
24:27
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry about Texas A&M.
24:28
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not given on the benefit of the doubt because of the schedule that they played within the league.
24:34
[SPEAKER_01]: Very, very easy.
24:36
[SPEAKER_01]: Auburn, losing record, Mississippi State losing record, Florida, losing record, Arkansas, losing record.
24:41
[SPEAKER_01]: LSU, unimpressive winning record, Missouri, Matt, South Carolina, losing record.
24:48
[SPEAKER_01]: So I am dropping Texas A&M from where everybody
24:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Alabama, Miami and Notre Dame, I'll put him ahead of Notre Dame because they did beat them although again that that was a dropped extra point hold that allowed them to win the game.
25:09
[SPEAKER_01]: They may have won in overtime but I would not give them you know say that they were the better team necessarily that day.
25:17
[SPEAKER_01]: So that gets me to
25:20
[SPEAKER_01]: 11 I believe in it includes Miami because the ACC should have a team and there they have one of the top teams their own protocol is stupid and so Miami isn't getting to play for the championship but then I've got my group of five champion in there as well.
25:34
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll continue the stumping for nine automatic bids in another, another juxtapter.
25:40
[SPEAKER_02]: Can you imagine, George, I mean we'll talk about this later, but George Miami,
25:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we've got some potential storylines out there.
25:55
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I would tend to love to see Indiana play Miami and Fernando Mendoza to say, I was right here in your backyard.
26:02
[SPEAKER_01]: You wouldn't have had to pay me $3 million or whatever you paid Carson back and I'm better than he is.
26:07
[SPEAKER_01]: uh... anyway lots of lots more to talk about there but uh... is a playoff uh... drama unfolds to the weekend will be watching but for now the other news that is just overwhelmed the week it's been a bonkers week in the hiring market nine power conference jobs filled and as of this taping eight a.m. Thursday eastern time none of them are Penn State which opened in early october
26:36
[SPEAKER_00]: 50 one days for a pat craft there, you know, a 51 day search.
26:41
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if I've necessarily would have expected that for Penn State when they moved to dismiss James Franklin, but, you know, kind of the case of, I mean, I think they've probably gotten a hundred million dollars worth of contract extensions from other head coaches and other schools at this point given there.
26:57
[SPEAKER_00]: They're walk around the, you know, the, the, the conference at this point in terms of, uh, they, they've talked to Jeff problem.
27:03
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, they, they've talked, uh, obviously the Cloney Satake story was, uh, hot and heavy earlier this week.
27:08
[SPEAKER_00]: So, uh, they, they've talked to a lot of candidates, and it seems like they, they've gotten close with a couple of others, then they'll back out.
27:14
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and I think that's number one, the nature of college coaching searches in general nowadays is especially at these high profile positions you end up talking to somebody and they're you think we're we're going to get a commitment and then boom they sign as extension with their current school to stay because it's probably easier for a lot of these coaches to keep building getting the additional resources with their own school, you know, a place they know versus a place they don't.
27:37
[SPEAKER_00]: in Penn State.
27:38
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think if you're a pat craft, you're in serious trouble at this point.
27:42
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and they could still land a good candidate.
27:45
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that the search itself is going to be difficult for to overcome and spin if you're a pat craft in terms of how has been meandering at this point.
27:54
[SPEAKER_00]: But you can still land a Matt Campbell, which would be a great fit there in state college.
27:59
[SPEAKER_00]: And a big, I think that would be worthy of selling to the fan base moving for
28:03
[SPEAKER_00]: I think go out and get a damn mole and if you want there there are still enough good candidates But Penn State needs to move pretty quickly after this weekend at the very least after this weekend Because I don't think promoting Terry Smith the interim coach is gonna do much of anything for for that fan base Might help some boosters and it might help pack craft with some of the boosters in terms of promoting the in in in term guy But if you're saying that we're gonna make this this big change and we're gonna dismiss James Franklin after starting
28:30
[SPEAKER_00]: the year preseason number one or number two depending on who you talk to.
28:34
[SPEAKER_00]: And we're going to end up at the end of the year with with with with with the interim coach getting promoted.
28:39
[SPEAKER_00]: That is a cause for concern.
28:41
[SPEAKER_00]: I think not only for for Pat Craft's job, but for Penn State and in general moving forward.
28:45
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's tough.
28:47
[SPEAKER_00]: It's it's a high profile position, high profile search.
28:50
[SPEAKER_00]: But this is this is what happens sometimes when you're going to have a clear plan going in and you're not able to
29:01
[SPEAKER_00]: What do you think, Pat?
29:03
[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, I mean, I think it's a debacle, you know, that this, this has been clearly, there, there's been some miscalculations, some misreads, maybe some misrepresentation by some coaches of y'all take your job and then, oh, no, I'm not taking it.
29:17
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, but clearly, you don't fire a guy who's won 70% of his games and then, you know, end up.
29:27
[SPEAKER_01]: maybe white knuckling your way down to the interim coach who was not even a coordinator.
29:32
[SPEAKER_01]: That's clearly a sign of things have gone wrong.
29:34
[SPEAKER_01]: I agree with Brian that they could still get a good coach.
29:37
[SPEAKER_01]: I, you know, and that's where a little bit deep breathing for the fan base that is just losing its mind, you know, comes into play.
29:46
[SPEAKER_01]: I bring this one up several times in the past, but Rick Bettino was like the fourth choice at Kentucky.
29:53
[SPEAKER_01]: and ended up being an impossibly big home run.
29:57
[SPEAKER_01]: So these things can happen.
29:59
[SPEAKER_01]: You can whiff, whiff, whiff, and then crush it.
30:03
[SPEAKER_01]: Who's it going to be?
30:04
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
30:05
[SPEAKER_01]: I think I do think Matt Campbell would be an excellent choice.
30:08
[SPEAKER_01]: I was thinking, as this thing kept going on and on and names weren't coming out.
30:14
[SPEAKER_01]: And then Satakid is like, oh, okay, they were waiting on somebody who's still playing.
30:19
[SPEAKER_01]: And then I thought, but after that, okay, do they have somebody else in the back pocket who's still playing?
30:25
[SPEAKER_01]: No, we're going back to Jeff Bromman's season's over.
30:26
[SPEAKER_01]: That's a clear sign that you're on like plan D at this point.
30:31
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's not going well, but it doesn't have to end badly, I would say.
30:36
[SPEAKER_02]: Who do you think was their first choice?
30:38
[SPEAKER_01]: Who do you think craft thought he was going to be able to get?
30:41
[SPEAKER_01]: Signetti would be my guess.
30:44
[SPEAKER_01]: But what did he base that on?
30:45
[SPEAKER_01]: Had he gotten some signals to that extent or not?
30:48
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
30:48
[SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, I think he should have been the first choice.
30:52
[SPEAKER_01]: I think he fits perfectly.
30:53
[SPEAKER_01]: And the fact that Signetti re-opt with Indiana fairly quickly thereafter, you know, I'm not sure he was ever that interested.
31:03
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, Pat, you mentioned Patino, and I'll go you another one guy that we're all familiar with.
31:12
[SPEAKER_02]: Do you remember who Duke hired with a, I think he was a 188-18 record from Army?
31:22
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah.
31:23
[SPEAKER_02]: Mike, you should have to see.
31:25
[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't think he was, they're very first choice, or Lisa was a debate about it.
31:32
[SPEAKER_02]: and he came in there.
31:34
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's a bad comparison in a way, but it's a segue for my little pat 40-like rant here.
31:41
[SPEAKER_02]: There's a guy at less point named Jeff Monk and I've said it a million times, I'm going to say it a million in one.
31:54
[SPEAKER_02]: this guy would be great for Penn State.
31:56
[SPEAKER_02]: He would be great for a lot of different programs, and this is not one of his better army teams this year, and yet he's squeezed out, well, I believe they're both eligible now, right?
32:08
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you know,
32:10
[SPEAKER_02]: he does a great job.
32:11
[SPEAKER_02]: And if you look at, and I would say the same about Brian Newberry, echoing what Rick Newhigh has said earlier this week, you know, all these American coaches got new gigs this year.
32:25
[SPEAKER_02]: And this past week, in fact, and they deserved it.
32:28
[SPEAKER_02]: They'd really find jobs.
32:31
[SPEAKER_02]: But meanwhile, guys like Monkin and Newberry, nobody kicks the tires on them.
32:37
[SPEAKER_02]: and that they have to compete with no NIL, no portal, no super crazy, beautiful facilities, no, and yet they win, and they win every year, and they do it under tougher circumstances in most programs, and if you look at what Monkin has done there and what he's built at West Point and his record under those circumstances,
33:03
[SPEAKER_02]: The only two and three and four stars at West Point are generals, I mean, they're not players and yet he's able to put together these teams on an annual basis, they were the Joe Moore award winners, I think last year, that offensive line, I mean, talk about overachieving.
33:13
[SPEAKER_02]: So if I'm Pat Kraft, I'm going to say that I'm going to say that I'm going to say that I'm going to say that I'm going to say that I'm going to say that I'm going to say that I'm going to say that I'm going to say that I'm going to say that I'm going to say that I'm going to say that I'm going to say that I'm going to say that I'm going to say that I'm going to say that I'm going to say that I'm going to say that I'm going to say that I'm going to say that I'm going to say that I'm going to say that I'm going to say that I'm going to say that I'm going to say that I'm going to
33:26
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm talking to a guy like Monkin.
33:28
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm talking to a guy like Newberry.
33:30
[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm saying to hell with what the perception might be, that they run the ball and they run the option, they have to, they don't have, I mean, they don't have the classic dropback quarterback.
33:41
[SPEAKER_02]: Horvac is the exception, Navy, but generally speaking, those are not the kind of quarterbacks that get, but can they adjust
33:49
[SPEAKER_02]: absolutely.
33:50
[SPEAKER_02]: So now, if you want to stay within the Big Ten, if Pat Crafter says I need a guy with experience in Big Ten, then go after somebody like PJ Fleck and make a run at him, but I agree with you Pat and Brian, that just exhale, that you'll be able to make a good hire, don't make a panic hire right now.
34:12
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so much of this to me seems to smack of we've we've got to win the press conference ie that's the a d a fans we've got to win the social media argument we've got to be able to go on and say our new coach is better than your coach you don't know i mean it's a good coach yeah and i love the idea.
34:32
[SPEAKER_01]: of somebody hiring Jeff Monkin I mean I think he's phenomenal and he would not show up and say we're going to throw the ball four times again he would show up and say we're going to run an offense that fits our personnel and if we get good passing personnel we're throwing the ball so we'll see keep a candle lit in the window for Penn State hopefully they get somebody but this is a very interesting dynamic to me guys in terms of
35:00
[SPEAKER_01]: Coach movement going into the playoff.
35:03
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not just lane-kiffin.
35:05
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, it could be two head coaches You were heading elsewhere, but staying at their current schools for the playoff.
35:12
[SPEAKER_01]: It could be if both
35:14
[SPEAKER_01]: Bob Chesney and James Madison get in and whoever wins the American conference because both those coaches are leaving.
35:21
[SPEAKER_01]: There are definitely four offensive coordinators in that situation.
35:25
[SPEAKER_01]: We've got Will Stein from Oregon who's headed to Kentucky.
35:29
[SPEAKER_01]: We've got Colin Klein of Texas A&M who is headed to Kansas State.
35:36
[SPEAKER_01]: We have
35:38
[SPEAKER_01]: uh... help me out here uh... line touch report oh house state he's headed to south florida and charlie wise junior who is going to go back to lsu but is on loan i guess you would say from all miss uh... given all that
35:57
[SPEAKER_01]: I still think I wonder if there could have been a way for Ole Miss to work it out with Lane Kiffin.
36:04
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, the more stuff that has come out, the worse it looks for Lane, you know, about how much he may or may not be misrepresenting things.
36:11
[SPEAKER_01]: Certainly, there is at least a vicious difference of opinion about what the facts are surrounding his departure.
36:20
[SPEAKER_01]: I still think what would have given Ole Miss the best chance to win in the playoff would be having Lane Kiffin.
36:28
[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe now after all the stuff we've seen, that's no longer the case, but I would have loved to have seen that being able to work out like it's working out everywhere else.
36:37
[SPEAKER_01]: We just named off six other situations where somebody's going to be able to keep coaching in their position before they leave.
36:46
[SPEAKER_01]: I think people, but it's a rival.
36:49
[SPEAKER_01]: It's in the conference.
36:51
[SPEAKER_01]: He'd be stealing their players.
36:52
[SPEAKER_01]: He'd be stealing their coaches.
36:54
[SPEAKER_01]: To me, those are honestly secondary situations.
36:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Those are secondary concerns to the primary concern of, let's go try to win a national championship.
37:03
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I want to see.
37:05
[SPEAKER_01]: Give Ole Miss the best chance to do something.
37:07
[SPEAKER_01]: You haven't done since the 1960s.
37:09
[SPEAKER_01]: Try to win a championship here and now.
37:12
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think your best coaching staff is one that has Lane Kiffin on it.
37:16
[SPEAKER_01]: He's not the only one that's gone.
37:18
[SPEAKER_01]: They've got at least a couple of position coaches too that are at LSU and not coming back.
37:24
[SPEAKER_01]: So I hate the way things have worked out.
37:27
[SPEAKER_01]: Lane Kiffin is maybe the least sympathetic character imaginable.
37:32
[SPEAKER_01]: I called him Oily and my column.
37:35
[SPEAKER_01]: stand by that i just think he's he's very he's very much the kind of guy that that is out for himself but i think he would have been out for himself to win a national championship in this playoff have that me fellas well uh i was i'm with you pat um i think that they could have figured out a way to all hold their noses and and make this work
38:01
[SPEAKER_02]: My only reservation was, or only requirement was that the players had to be on board with this.
38:09
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
38:10
[SPEAKER_02]: And now it appears that that really, at the very least, there is a fractured
38:17
[SPEAKER_02]: relationship between some members of that team, specifically the leadership council of that team and Kiffin.
38:28
[SPEAKER_02]: So if that's the case, then it probably doesn't work.
38:33
[SPEAKER_02]: But in a perfect world, I think it was entirely possible and could have been done had to be handled a little better.
38:42
[SPEAKER_02]: This idea of if he comes there, he'll steal the players, he'll steal the stat.
38:46
[SPEAKER_02]: It's so ridiculous.
38:48
[SPEAKER_02]: Guess what?
38:49
[SPEAKER_02]: James Franklin hasn't been on the Penn State campus for weeks and weeks and weeks.
38:55
[SPEAKER_02]: He just took 10 of Penn State's
38:57
[SPEAKER_02]: high school commitments with the Virginia Tech.
39:01
[SPEAKER_02]: So, this idea that it only happens if you're there, that you're going to be able to get their players, it's just ridiculous.
39:08
[SPEAKER_02]: And the idea of it would be an infomercial for LSU, I don't get that either.
39:14
[SPEAKER_02]: The bottom line is, as you said, what gives in the best chance to win a college football playoff game, and I think it's with
39:24
[SPEAKER_02]: Ole Miss made another determination.
39:26
[SPEAKER_02]: I respect that, but I'm with you.
39:30
[SPEAKER_02]: I think it could have worked if that team had been on board.
39:34
[SPEAKER_00]: I think the optics were just untenable, you know, for Keith Carter, the AD there for for the school administrations just to have lane around and honestly probably being more of a distraction there in Oxford than he would be if he was that that moves at this point, I mean everything we we've seen right now is lane is about lane and so you think that's going to change if he were back in charge of a playoff team, I don't think so.
39:57
[SPEAKER_00]: I think to me, what this also says is, man, there's a lot of pressure on Pete Golding right now, a ton of pressure.
40:03
[SPEAKER_00]: And Pat, I know we talked about this on our Tuesday live show, but you're talking about hosting a playoff game there in Oxford.
40:10
[SPEAKER_00]: And whether it's against an ACC opponent, maybe it's a, you know, James Madison or the American opponent, if you're that succeed.
40:17
[SPEAKER_00]: that is a ton of pressure to win that game is your people here here you go your your first time head coach your your first game is going to be in the college football play off now and you have to win like there's no doubt about that you know you want to talk about souring yourself to an entire fan base uh but you know by half time if you will
40:35
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, go ahead and go ahead and struggle in that first half against your playoff opponent in the first round that that's going to be a tough position for peak only and that to me is probably the biggest thing if your old miss is now not only have you made it awkward with with your former coach you made it a little bit awkward with with your current coach too and I get why they they swiftly move let's turn it over to peak holding and say all right it's your program will have some some continuity.
41:01
[SPEAKER_00]: from from last year into this year, it'll keep some of the players around.
41:04
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure on defense in particular that Lane Kiffin might have thought about taking with him to LSU, but at this point, it's a tough situation all around, but it's not like old misses is a, you know, a profile is encouraged here in terms of doing what they've done and making this change at this point.
41:20
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's going to be difficult for all parties involved.
41:23
[SPEAKER_00]: Come that Friday or Saturday the first round.
41:27
[SPEAKER_00]: What are we going to be talking about?
41:28
[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to be talking about Lane Kiffin
41:30
[SPEAKER_00]: you know that that's going to be an overriding theme uh... hanging over that game whenever it takes place and i think that's that's something that old misconduct live with at this point everybody's made their bed and uh... now we're lying at it
41:41
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
41:41
[SPEAKER_01]: The most strategic thing I think Ole Miss has done in the last week was to cancel the Pete Golding introductory press conference because we know what that was going to be.
41:51
[SPEAKER_01]: 30 questions about Lane Kiffin and about what the hell happened.
41:56
[SPEAKER_01]: They still haven't.
41:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Nobody from Keith Carter did a Ole Miss friendly radio or podcast interview.
42:05
[SPEAKER_01]: But other than that, nobody I don't believe is stood in and actually answered questions about this other than Kiffin in Baton Rouge, but yeah, they the full promotion of Pete Golding to full time head coach, wow, that's smacked of we need to win the divorce right now with the rebound marriage.
42:26
[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, that goes one thing real quick, I don't think Pete Golding is going to take.
42:34
[SPEAKER_02]: the heat for this, if Ole Miss loses.
42:37
[SPEAKER_02]: I think Lane Kiffin is going to be the villain no matter what.
42:40
[SPEAKER_02]: No doubt, if Ole Miss wins that first playoff game, it's going to be a C, we didn't need Lane Kiffin.
42:48
[SPEAKER_02]: So he's a loser in that regard.
42:50
[SPEAKER_02]: And if they lose, it's going to be, this is Lane Kiffin's fault.
42:53
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we were put in this position.
42:55
[SPEAKER_02]: Pete Golding was put in this impossible position.
42:58
[SPEAKER_02]: We hate Lane Kiffin even more.
43:00
[SPEAKER_02]: So either way, I think Kiffin is going to be the loser on this.
43:04
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no doubt about it and that is one of the hilarious things about these sort of situations kind of like when Brian Kelly left Notre Dame You hear how my always a terrible person.
43:14
[SPEAKER_01]: We've never liked him.
43:16
[SPEAKER_01]: I see you know, they're they're just now everything bad thing about kiffets coming out.
43:19
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you put up with him for six years When he was winning games for you.
43:24
[SPEAKER_01]: You like tolerated it.
43:25
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
43:26
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, funny how that works.
43:30
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, it's time
43:32
[SPEAKER_01]: for our segment sponsored by Facebook, commenters commenting on comments, the comments here.
43:40
[SPEAKER_01]: We gather them from fans on their Facebook groups.
43:45
[SPEAKER_01]: uh... producer can't does a nice job of coming up with a variety of topics uh... some good questions and completely unhinged people we got it we got a mix of them here so we're gonna eat just handle one of them and then and then we'll we'll see where this goes but marcus asks and brina wants you to take this one marcus why is it assumed that b y u is out if they don't beat texas tech but bama is considered a lock
44:15
[SPEAKER_01]: if they lose to Georgia, I don't get it.
44:19
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think taking this into parts.
44:22
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not 100% convinced that Bama is in for sure if they do end up losing to Georgia.
44:27
[SPEAKER_00]: If they get blown out, I think the door is certainly open, given the at large field, given some of the questions that committee faces this year that it's not 100% certain that they are.
44:37
[SPEAKER_00]: Despite the resume, despite the wins, I'm not 100% locked in saying, all right, Alabama is going to be in even with a loss.
44:45
[SPEAKER_00]: As for BYU, I mean, we've heard the committee and the committee chair discuss really both chairs discuss BYU simply Just not being on the kind of same plane as Alabama and Notre Dame.
44:56
[SPEAKER_00]: This was this week 100-year checks said that the committee was split in terms of Alabama and Notre Dame So we were kind of seeing there there's a separation there in terms of the tier So I think that explains why BYU has kind of entered into this winner in type of situation there in the big 12 title game
45:13
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
45:14
[SPEAKER_01]: Very good.
45:15
[SPEAKER_01]: Good explanation.
45:17
[SPEAKER_01]: Beth asks, can Miami and Texas agreed to play each other this week to help their resumes?
45:22
[SPEAKER_01]: Would that be legal?
45:24
[SPEAKER_01]: No, Beth.
45:25
[SPEAKER_01]: It would not be legal.
45:26
[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely not.
45:26
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you could theoretically look, midpoint, can we can we resurrect legion field and Birmingham and have them meet there and play?
45:34
[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe, but
45:35
[SPEAKER_01]: Probably probably probably not moving on from there.
45:39
[SPEAKER_01]: Besides, they don't need another chance to help their resumes.
45:42
[SPEAKER_01]: They had their chances.
45:44
[SPEAKER_01]: Olivia asks, Jeanneau, answer this one.
45:48
[SPEAKER_01]: Olivia, why did Penn State Fire James Franklin without a real plan for who would take the job?
45:53
[SPEAKER_01]: This is ridiculous.
45:55
[SPEAKER_01]: We've touched on this to a degree, but give us your thoughts on why they fire James Franklin when they did.
46:03
[SPEAKER_02]: well we've talked about that after the firing I mean it just had reached a point of no return there is a
46:13
[SPEAKER_02]: crisis of confidence with that fan base and it seemed at a point where it just couldn't be repaired.
46:24
[SPEAKER_02]: The narrative had been carved in stone, James Franklin, can't win the big games and now he can't win the little games.
46:33
[SPEAKER_02]: And so let's move on and we'll get a head start
46:41
[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face.
46:44
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
46:45
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, when, let's say, Kurt Signetti said, no.
46:50
[SPEAKER_02]: uh... or let's say uh... there was push back against the idea of hiring map rule or most recently jeff brom or sataki well there's pat craft getting punched in the face over and over and over again and that's where we are he's living the mic ties a nightmare uh... but as we mentioned just take it easy
47:14
[SPEAKER_02]: don't make a panic hire.
47:16
[SPEAKER_02]: There are still candidates out there.
47:18
[SPEAKER_02]: One of them is not going to be Mike Tomlin, by the way, even though Ben Rafflisberger threw him out there, Tomlin said, there's not a donor check, a booster check, big enough.
47:29
[SPEAKER_02]: You get him to coach and college, so you can forget about Tomlin, but there are still a lot of interesting and qualified candidates
47:44
[SPEAKER_01]: My tone's name has come up several times for several jobs and he's always just swatted that down He's like, no, I am not a college coach.
47:52
[SPEAKER_01]: No.
47:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
47:54
[SPEAKER_01]: Last question here, Facebook commenters commenting on comments, Bryce, will the Heisman be decided Saturday night in Indianapolis?
48:02
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to be there, Ohio State, Indiana, phenomenal one versus two matchup.
48:08
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to say no, though, because you've got a factor in Diego Pavia, who might actually be the favorite at this point, the way he finished the season.
48:17
[SPEAKER_01]: Fernando Mendoza against Julian Sane is an outstanding matchup, and both those guys will be in New York.
48:24
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll say that now.
48:25
[SPEAKER_01]: There's no way they're not placement finalists.
48:28
[SPEAKER_01]: One of them might still win.
48:30
[SPEAKER_01]: And if one of them lights it up, Saturday night, that could decide it, it could, and it's great to have the last impression, especially in a high profile gaming as a good opponent.
48:39
[SPEAKER_01]: I think more likely.
48:41
[SPEAKER_01]: both quarterback struggle a little bit in this game because they're playing really good defenses.
48:46
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to be front Fernando Mendoza, holy moly, I mean, you're just trying to hope and you can get to 17 points against Ohio State.
48:54
[SPEAKER_01]: So I will say that the Heisman is on the line, but I'm not sure it will be decided Saturday night.
49:01
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, guys, one more topic before we get down to winners and stake dinners, tragic situation there.
49:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but hey do you remember national signing day?
49:14
[SPEAKER_02]: Basically what is that again?
49:17
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it used to be in February right and everybody got excited about it and everybody got up at 7 a.m.
49:23
[SPEAKER_01]: They hear about the fax machine cranking up and the commitments rolling in and oh my gosh That teams were winning national championships on signing day even though it never happened four years later, but I
49:36
[SPEAKER_01]: been marginalized by the portal and where it's misplaced in the calendar but Wednesday was the start of the signing period and there were three news items of note here the first we'll go through these pretty quickly but the first five star quarterback Jared Curtis Nashville Christian school number three player in the senior class according twenty four seven sports
50:06
[SPEAKER_01]: Vandy just got one of the top quarterbacks in the nation.
50:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Gino, big deal or a blip.
50:13
[SPEAKER_01]: big deal.
50:14
[SPEAKER_02]: Big deal.
50:15
[SPEAKER_02]: First of all, Georgia doesn't usually lose those kind of battles.
50:19
[SPEAKER_02]: Georgia usually wins those kind of battles.
50:21
[SPEAKER_02]: They usually flip others.
50:22
[SPEAKER_02]: Second, he's an in-state kid.
50:26
[SPEAKER_02]: So they kept him here.
50:27
[SPEAKER_02]: I was at the Vandy Tennessee game, and Vandy now has all the sort of national momentum.
50:35
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, they beat Tennessee, and it wasn't, it was decisive
50:43
[SPEAKER_02]: I think very significant from a perception standpoint, again, five-star sounds great.
50:49
[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see how he develops and if his skills transition to the college game and if he's successful, but from a perception standpoint, yeah, I think significant.
51:01
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, question for Brian here.
51:04
[SPEAKER_01]: USC landed the nation's number one class, the first non-SCC team to do it according to 24 seven since 2008.
51:13
[SPEAKER_01]: That's incredible.
51:15
[SPEAKER_01]: Brian, are the Trojan's capital B back?
51:19
[SPEAKER_00]: No, very simply no, you know, it's it's one thing to to count on some freshman and have a couple of impact playmakers and you know good Signs of progress there for Lincoln Riley for sure in Los Angeles especially given that he didn't seem to have any interest his first couple of years there
51:35
[SPEAKER_00]: In terms of using the USC brand and actually recruiting these high level athletes, but good signs of things, you know, writing the ship, if you will, they're with the Trojans in LA, but you got to stack these classes class after class, after class, if you really want to compete.
51:51
[SPEAKER_00]: Not just in the big 10, but for the national titles that Lincoln Riley was hired to do.
51:56
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not necessarily sign that they're back, but I think good signs of progress, if you will, to land this number one class plus, you know, I think for the big 10, nice, nice to a little feather in your cap too, given the recruiting dominance that we've seen out of the SEC to have a number one class in the country for sure.
52:14
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I love the diversity of it, you know, what?
52:16
[SPEAKER_01]: Great.
52:16
[SPEAKER_01]: And if they finally gotten their act together out there at USC, the sport is better off for it, although it'd really be better off for it if there were a pack 12 for them to win.
52:26
[SPEAKER_01]: That's a whole other matter.
52:28
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, a third signing day storyline.
52:31
[SPEAKER_01]: I will handle this one.
52:33
[SPEAKER_01]: I love this temple.
52:35
[SPEAKER_01]: Signed a punter named Luke Sword.
52:39
[SPEAKER_01]: Why are we talking about a temple punter?
52:42
[SPEAKER_01]: Good question.
52:44
[SPEAKER_01]: As the greatest bio I've seen in this class, he sneezes when he goes out in the sun.
52:50
[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
52:51
[SPEAKER_01]: And he can drink a full sprite without burping.
52:56
[SPEAKER_01]: clearly a very interesting young man.
52:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Not all our punters have to come from Australia, gentlemen.
53:02
[SPEAKER_01]: We can go to Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, and get Luke Sword allergic to the sun.
53:12
[SPEAKER_01]: you've been perfect in the Midwest, but still Pennsylvania temple close enough, he's going to lead temple, I think, to national prominence.
53:19
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think there's any doubt about it.
53:20
[SPEAKER_01]: They are going to be national title contenders with Luke Sord, who dares to disagree with me.
53:27
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I'll say this.
53:28
[SPEAKER_02]: Luke is a brilliant marketer of himself and the NIO age.
53:37
[SPEAKER_02]: He is now
53:38
[SPEAKER_02]: endorsement and it's only a matter of time until Sprite comes after them.
53:44
[SPEAKER_02]: So congrats, Luke, brilliant on your part.
53:48
[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely, I do remember the other kick I love kickers because they're they're often unafraid to be weirdos I'm trying to remember now the name of the guy he's been a no Colton boomer He's been a good college kicker central floor.
54:02
[SPEAKER_01]: He signed with them and it is high school yearbook.
54:05
[SPEAKER_01]: His is like little tagline and that was
54:09
[SPEAKER_01]: kicking bombs and kissing moms.
54:12
[SPEAKER_01]: So he showed up with a little bit of a swagger at UCF and he's had a good college career.
54:17
[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm I'm going to be watching Luke sword watching him kicking bombs.
54:21
[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully not kissing moms, but you know, to each his own.
54:25
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, winners to stake dinners are weekly picks.
54:28
[SPEAKER_01]: It's it's a disaster.
54:29
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a debacle.
54:31
[SPEAKER_01]: Brian Fish is now running away from Gene and I, especially me, laughing as we received in the rear view.
54:37
[SPEAKER_01]: He's 39 and 32 after a four and one week.
54:42
[SPEAKER_01]: Wow, congrats.
54:43
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
54:44
[SPEAKER_01]: Gino's 36 and 36, the bear, at least has him at 500.
54:48
[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
54:49
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm 34 and 37 can't pick anything out of a lineup.
54:54
[SPEAKER_01]: It's pitiful.
54:55
[SPEAKER_01]: But we've got
54:56
[SPEAKER_01]: championship games here not many picks a lot of the week we may actually both take the same thing we'll see are the three of us but we're going to start with the big ten one versus two touched on a briefly Ohio State number one giving four and a half in Lucas oil stadium against Indiana
55:14
[SPEAKER_01]: the last two undefeated teams in the country.
55:17
[SPEAKER_01]: There will only be one after this game.
55:19
[SPEAKER_01]: Regardless of that, vis-a-vis the spread.
55:22
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm covering the games so I'll make the pick there.
55:25
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna take Ohio State.
55:27
[SPEAKER_01]: I love Indiana.
55:28
[SPEAKER_01]: I love everything about Indiana.
55:31
[SPEAKER_01]: But, Ohio State complete team.
55:35
[SPEAKER_01]: no weaknesses that I can see.
55:37
[SPEAKER_01]: And just really hard to score against and they lean on you and lean on you and lean on you as games go along.
55:44
[SPEAKER_01]: That may be a three-point game going into the fourth quarter and end up a 10-point game or at least a touchdown.
55:51
[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to take the buck guys and the four and a half.
55:54
[SPEAKER_01]: Give the four and end up.
55:56
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm stunned.
55:57
[SPEAKER_02]: I thought for sure you're going to take IU in this one.
56:01
[SPEAKER_02]: And now I'm depressed because I'm also taking Ohio State.
56:05
[SPEAKER_02]: The only team in the FBS who hasn't given up, I think they've given up less than a hundred points that defense this year, which is incredible.
56:14
[SPEAKER_02]: Now they're going against IU offense that is scored the second most in the country, 532 points
56:26
[SPEAKER_02]: Ohio State's defense more than I trust an offense and I think it's I think Ohio State's a tier above everybody else I'm with you I'll take Ohio State and give the points.
56:39
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't go ahead and lock it up as well.
56:40
[SPEAKER_00]: I will go with the buck guys.
56:41
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I think you look back at Indiana season and as much as we like this team itself.
56:47
[SPEAKER_00]: You look back at the two games that they played at least close or struggled at times in going to Penn State and then Iowa.
56:54
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you know what those front sevens for both those teams.
56:57
[SPEAKER_00]: I think we're able to get a little bit of pressure on Fernando Mendoza.
57:00
[SPEAKER_00]: You talk about Ohio State.
57:01
[SPEAKER_00]: You talk about one of the best front sevens in the country.
57:03
[SPEAKER_00]: And that's a big reason why that defense is so good.
57:06
[SPEAKER_00]: You have the chess piece of Caleb Downs.
57:08
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's going to be pretty tough for the Hoosiers to score.
57:11
[SPEAKER_00]: They will find some ways for sure with Kurt Signetti, probably eyeing this game with two, three weeks of worth of prep.
57:17
[SPEAKER_00]: Given that they had a off-week and in Purdue to lead up into this game.
57:22
[SPEAKER_00]: So they will find some ways to score, but not score enough.
57:25
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think the buck guys do end up covering that fort and a half.
57:31
[SPEAKER_01]: SEC game another great matchup not the freshest matchup, but still always fascinating when Alabama plays Georgia.
57:39
[SPEAKER_01]: The tide is getting to in a half despite the fact they've won like seven out of the last eight against the bulldogs, Ryan, where you going on that one.
57:49
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't go ahead and give me Alabama reluctantly I guess just a given given all the matchup trends on this one that you got to think Georgia get something at some point, but this is the Kirby hex, you know, it seems like he it is wills when the Alabama is on that opposite side line and I think the explosive playmakers you saw it in the old misgame, they were kind of going able to go up and down the field on that Georgia defense a little bit.
58:10
[SPEAKER_00]: I think Alabama will have some things saved up, and look, Caleb DeBore, in these big-time moment games, you know, he seems to have something saved up, you know, whether it's a fork down play or something, so if he's getting two and a half points, I think he can end up covering that number there in the dome.
58:25
[SPEAKER_01]: you'll have path.
58:27
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm I'm going on the tide as well because all the reasons Brian mentioned I just I've seen it too many times.
58:35
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not picking Georgia until I have seen them beat Alabama.
58:39
[SPEAKER_01]: I think Georgia's better but not when they play the tide Kirby something something gets sideways.
58:46
[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm taking the hounds tooth.
58:50
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, let me just remind you the Bama.
58:52
[SPEAKER_02]: They're going to be shy one starting defensive lineman running back jam Miller's questionable Josh clevis is questionable
59:01
[SPEAKER_02]: And you're going to say, so that might make me change my mind.
59:05
[SPEAKER_02]: But I really didn't remind you that Clavis didn't have a huge game against Georgia the first time around.
59:13
[SPEAKER_02]: Miller didn't have a huge game against Georgia the first time around.
59:16
[SPEAKER_02]: That was Ty Simpson.
59:17
[SPEAKER_02]: And that was their ability to convert third down plays.
59:22
[SPEAKER_02]: The board is 2-0.
59:24
[SPEAKER_02]: against Bama and Kirby.
59:27
[SPEAKER_02]: And Kirby is one in seven against Bama.
59:29
[SPEAKER_02]: And so I'm I'm with the Pat until I see it.
59:33
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to take Bama.
59:35
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there we go.
59:37
[SPEAKER_01]: I've watching here producer can't who writes down the picks in the Google Doc as we go.
59:40
[SPEAKER_01]: He was he was waiting because
59:43
[SPEAKER_01]: some a misdirection at him before that's trying to.
59:46
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
59:46
[SPEAKER_01]: So for Ohio State, we're all down Bama.
59:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's let's see if we can check it up here a little bit.
59:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Texas Tech laying 12 and a half against BYU in the big 12 title game Saturday at noon.
59:59
[SPEAKER_01]: Gene, what do you think?
1:00:02
[SPEAKER_02]: tech beat him by 22 the last time.
1:00:05
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, and it didn't seem that close.
1:00:08
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
1:00:08
[SPEAKER_02]: And they they force turnovers.
1:00:10
[SPEAKER_02]: They made a true freshman.
1:00:12
[SPEAKER_02]: Look like a true freshman.
1:00:13
[SPEAKER_02]: They bottled up that running game.
1:00:16
[SPEAKER_02]: I think it will be closer, but I still think Texas tech covers.
1:00:23
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think this is very close for, you know, two, two, three quarters, you know, that seems to be the kind of M.O.
1:00:28
[SPEAKER_00]: when when when text tech does play one of these top tier teams in the big 12, but they're they're the taking care of business team the season.
1:00:34
[SPEAKER_00]: Like they have taken care of business, you know, they often have their overdrive.
1:00:38
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, they have they have, you know, when it comes to blowing out opponents, when they need to blow out opponents, man, do they do that?
1:00:45
[SPEAKER_00]: And so I think, you know, it's not necessarily a runaway this one for three quarters, but in the fourth quarter, they really pull away.
1:00:53
[SPEAKER_00]: I think they end up covering that number against BYU there in Arlington and getting a well deserved and very expensive title there in the Big 12.
1:01:00
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but I'm going with you too.
1:01:02
[SPEAKER_01]: I like I'm a full believer in what Texas tech has done this year.
1:01:06
[SPEAKER_01]: And I did watch a lot of the game against BYU and that was a mismatch.
1:01:11
[SPEAKER_01]: It could have been worse if Texas tech didn't stall in the red zone repeatedly and kick a bunch of field gold.
1:01:16
[SPEAKER_02]: I feel goals.
1:01:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:01:18
[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm sure the BYU will be better prepared.
1:01:22
[SPEAKER_01]: You're always better when you when you've lost and you're playing a rematch.
1:01:25
[SPEAKER_01]: Here's what we need to do better here where our weaknesses.
1:01:28
[SPEAKER_01]: But there were too many weaknesses to fix.
1:01:31
[SPEAKER_01]: I think especially if your head coach has been talking to Penn State in the lead up to this game.
1:01:35
[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm taking the red raiders there as well.
1:01:39
[SPEAKER_01]: This is boring boys.
1:01:40
[SPEAKER_01]: We're all picking the same people.
1:01:42
[SPEAKER_01]: But let's see if that changes here
1:01:45
[SPEAKER_01]: Giving three and a half to Duke in an ACC title game that basically, you're never going to find a league office rooting harder for one team than you will here.
1:01:56
[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, Duke, but they want Virginia to win and the ACC to have a member in the playoff.
1:02:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Again, Cavaliers giving three and a half Brian, what do you got?
1:02:06
[SPEAKER_00]: Give me the who's, you know, I think a number would a great moment for Tony Alitt if they were able to get this, this over the line and to win an ACCC team, which had given what that program has been through the last couple of years, given how he's kind of struggled as a head coach until this year.
1:02:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Really, you know, a testament to.
1:02:22
[SPEAKER_00]: turning things around there in Charlottesville.
1:02:25
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that Duke can play things a little bit closer.
1:02:28
[SPEAKER_00]: Darian Mesa did not play well in that initial meeting between these two teams.
1:02:31
[SPEAKER_00]: Had a couple of turnovers.
1:02:32
[SPEAKER_00]: I think he will be a better there in Charlottes and Duke will make this one at least to sweat it out in the ECC office down the street for at least a couple of quarters, but give me Virginia to cover the three and a half at the end.
1:02:49
[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm still going to take UVA.
1:02:52
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm good with that.
1:02:52
[SPEAKER_02]: I still remember UVA beat them at Duke and beat them pretty soundly.
1:02:58
[SPEAKER_02]: I think all things considered.
1:03:00
[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know why that would change in a neutral field.
1:03:03
[SPEAKER_02]: So I'll take UVA and the ACC can rest easily.
1:03:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm surprised at the line.
1:03:12
[SPEAKER_01]: I was a 17-point game in Durham.
1:03:16
[SPEAKER_01]: Certainly, as Brian pointed out, Dairy and Mensek can play better this time around.
1:03:19
[SPEAKER_01]: And Virginia has had some defensive injuries, Cam Robinson, the landbackers out for the season, but I think Virginia just just flat the better team and should be able to cover that one and Jim Phillips rests easy when the ACC is in the playoff.
1:03:35
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, lock of the week, who has won?
1:03:39
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, we should let Mr. first place go, right?
1:03:41
[SPEAKER_00]: I guess we only have a number of limited options this week.
1:03:46
[SPEAKER_00]: If we're not picking out the five power conference games that we just did, but look, I'm going to go to conference you or say, because I know Gino loads me going down there.
1:03:54
[SPEAKER_00]: Kinosau State, given two and a half points against Jacksonville State, conference USA championship game.
1:04:00
[SPEAKER_00]: The game products won the first meeting between these two, just a couple of weeks ago, 35, 26.
1:04:04
[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, and they are hosting, but this is the program in Kinosau State.
1:04:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Founded just 10 years ago, credible season really for both Jerry Mac, the coach there with the owls and Charles Kelly, but I think the owls get the job done and they cover the two and a half and win conference USA.
1:04:23
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't even know if I can follow that.
1:04:26
[SPEAKER_02]: You have F2.
1:04:29
[SPEAKER_02]: James Madison is a 23 and a half point favored over Troy on Friday night.
1:04:35
[SPEAKER_02]: I'll take JMU all day on that.
1:04:37
[SPEAKER_02]: I know that's a lot of points, but I think JMU's a lot of team.
1:04:41
[SPEAKER_02]: And they certainly have something to play for, so I'm going with them.
1:04:46
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's one of those situations where there is no taking the foot off the gas there if they get up and get rolling, they're going to try to keep rolling, I think.
1:04:55
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, I'm going to the Mac little action and less because I truly believe this, then I think it's a cool story that I wanted to bring up and the hell I'm in last place, what does it matter.
1:05:05
[SPEAKER_01]: though.
1:05:07
[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm taking Miami, Ohio and the two and a half points against Western Michigan.
1:05:13
[SPEAKER_01]: I started looking into this a little bit in the 40 yard dash.
1:05:16
[SPEAKER_01]: Chuck Morton has been the coach at Miami, Ohio forever, right?
1:05:21
[SPEAKER_01]: He came there from Notre Dame.
1:05:22
[SPEAKER_01]: He was a Brian Kelly assistant.
1:05:24
[SPEAKER_01]: I am sure he and other people thought, well, you go in there for a couple of years and then you get a big 10 job or whatever, you know, you move on.
1:05:31
[SPEAKER_01]: Been there for 12 years, started slowly.
1:05:34
[SPEAKER_01]: has kept incrementally creeping forward, keeping forward, creeping forward, now in the third straight Mac title game, and if they win for the first time in his 12-year career, he will have a winning record.
1:05:48
[SPEAKER_01]: He's now up to 72 and 72.
1:05:51
[SPEAKER_01]: It has been this uphill climb.
1:05:53
[SPEAKER_01]: He started, he was five and 19, his first two years.
1:05:57
[SPEAKER_01]: And then he's had to kind of just piece it together.
1:05:59
[SPEAKER_01]: It's been a good fit for him there.
1:06:01
[SPEAKER_01]: Supply, Woody Hayes, Bo Schembeckler, Aroparcee again, great coaches on and on and on.
1:06:08
[SPEAKER_01]: He's won the most games of anybody there.
1:06:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Been there the longest.
1:06:11
[SPEAKER_01]: So I am hoping for Chuck Martin's sake.
1:06:14
[SPEAKER_01]: He gets to 73 and 72 and the Red Hawks cover the two and a half there.
1:06:20
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, guys, we got one more story to get to.
1:06:23
[SPEAKER_01]: a little bit longer show, but there's been a lot to cover.
1:06:26
[SPEAKER_01]: And we cannot go without talking about this.
1:06:31
[SPEAKER_01]: Ashland, Virginia, AP.
1:06:35
[SPEAKER_01]: The masked burglar broke into the closed Virginia liquor store early on Saturday and hit the bottom shelf where the scotch and whiskey were stored.
1:06:46
[SPEAKER_01]: The bandit was something of an optional menace bottles were smashed, a ceiling tower collapsed and alcohol pulled on the floor.
1:06:55
[SPEAKER_01]: The suspect acted like an animal because, in fact, he's a raccoon.
1:07:05
[SPEAKER_01]: And I thought showing some decorum, actually, went into the bathroom to pass out.
1:07:11
[SPEAKER_01]: They got a picture of the critter in there.
1:07:13
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, legs played, face down, not dead, and apparently not seriously hurt.
1:07:20
[SPEAKER_01]: But definitely smashed on the floor.
1:07:24
[SPEAKER_01]: And there's pictures of the bottles.
1:07:26
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, this, this, this critter got into a lot of stuff.
1:07:29
[SPEAKER_01]: he went on a bender on the floor of the liquor store here, my theory gentleman, Virginia fan.
1:07:39
[SPEAKER_01]: So excited about the way this season has gone, that the Recruan just went out and went crazy and got blood out.
1:07:46
[SPEAKER_01]: What do you think?
1:07:47
[SPEAKER_01]: Is there a chance that this Recruan is actually Recruan is actually a Virginia fan?
1:07:52
[SPEAKER_02]: I can't add an update to this story.
1:07:56
[SPEAKER_02]: I saw it earlier on the wire.
1:07:58
[SPEAKER_02]: The raccoon now is at the Betty Ford Center receiving a specialized treatment.
1:08:04
[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, thoughts and prayers for the raccoon.
1:08:09
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I will say that the photograph of the raccoon just spray down on the floor.
1:08:13
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's an iconic image at this point.
1:08:17
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, that could be a lot of Virginia fans in Charlotte if they win or if they lose, yeah, yeah, they might be there might be a lot of played raccoon Virginia fans there, but all right guys, that's clearly it's that's enough of this show.
1:08:33
