- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Hey everyone, welcome to the Almost Manic Podcast. Like I've
- 0:10Speaker 2: been saying in the past couple episodes, today Ben's not
- 0:12Speaker 2: here because he's in Italy, but we have some amazing
- 0:15Speaker 2: people here to join us instead. It is Charity and Doten,
- 0:20Speaker 2: the Happy Couple. We are so so thrilled to have you. Charity.
- 0:24Speaker 2: I messaged you a couple of weeks ago just saying
- 0:26Speaker 2: that I was so enjoying watching your season and you
- 0:29Speaker 2: as the lead. You're just like You're just so enjoyable
- 0:33Speaker 2: and easy to watch. Like I don't know, I've related
- 0:36Speaker 2: to you more than many bachelorettes of recent past, and
- 0:40Speaker 2: it was just you were You conducted the show so
- 0:42Speaker 2: wonderfully and this love story was one that I feel like, oh,
- 0:47Speaker 2: we haven't seen so intensely one like this in a while.
- 0:50Speaker 2: And you, guys, I just like, congratulations, I'm so so
- 0:53Speaker 2: happy for you. It was a joy to watch it all.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Thank you so much, so much.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Okay, so, like, where do we again? Where'd you leave again? Okay,
- 1:04Speaker 2: don how did you sign up for the show?
- 1:07Speaker 4: Yeah, so I didn't sign up, I did it. It
- 1:10Speaker 4: wasn't nominated, didn't do any that. Two weeks before filming
- 1:14Speaker 4: actually started, my roommate he was in like a text
- 1:17Speaker 4: thread with one of his old college buddies, and then
- 1:21Speaker 4: the college buddy was in the running. He dropped out
- 1:23Speaker 4: until the casting director told that guy. He said, if
- 1:26Speaker 4: you don't even want to fill your place, I know
- 1:27Speaker 4: it's the last minute. He put it in the group
- 1:29Speaker 4: text and my roommate was in and my roommate thought
- 1:32Speaker 4: of me, right dad, like a list of criteri, he
- 1:34Speaker 4: thought of me, and then he texted me. He's like,
- 1:36Speaker 4: send me pictures and I was like, for what, and
- 1:38Speaker 4: he's like, don't worry about it, and then he's like,
- 1:40Speaker 4: y'all want to put you on the black speasherrette. Eventually
- 1:42Speaker 4: I thought he was kidding, and then within an hour
- 1:44Speaker 4: I had the casting agent call me and then the
- 1:47Speaker 4: rest was history. So it was it was crunch time
- 1:49Speaker 4: doing six months where the stuff in two weeks was tough,
- 1:52Speaker 4: and I wasn't sure I was going to do it,
- 1:53Speaker 4: but I saw this pretty little lady.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Guys, You're entire story may not have existed if this
- 2:03Speaker 2: one guy didn't drop out, and down didn't feel it
- 2:05Speaker 2: like the urge to put it all together within two weeks.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Holy cow, It's.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Literally like it's actual fate.
- 2:12Speaker 5: And I always say, like Jackie around, I'm like, so,
- 2:14Speaker 5: what did the other guy like, Simmy, Like what.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Did he look like?
- 2:17Speaker 5: I want to know that would have been like his
- 2:20Speaker 5: like replacement if he never came. But it's like everything
- 2:24Speaker 5: truly did work out, And it's like crazy, how like
- 2:26Speaker 5: this show obviously, like the purpose of the show really
- 2:29Speaker 5: did bring us like together.
- 2:31Speaker 4: Yeah, we like broughout, we say fairy tale. Then that's
- 2:34Speaker 4: the reason why is because like eighty teaming goes beat
- 2:37Speaker 4: before his name is Sam, shout out, Sam, thank you.
- 2:42Speaker 4: But even before that, you know, it's like moving to
- 2:45Speaker 4: New York, finding rooming with these guys. The way that
- 2:47Speaker 4: everything worked out truly just felt like it kind of
- 2:51Speaker 4: led to her in this moment. And so as logical
- 2:54Speaker 4: as we are, it's hard to deny the circumstances that
- 2:58Speaker 4: led us together. So it's insane and we still don't
- 3:00Speaker 4: believe it to this day. But I'm just grateful for
- 3:02Speaker 4: this crazy life, you know.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Yeah, that is seriously magical. All right, Well, Charity, he
- 3:08Speaker 2: didn't play the biggest role on the first couple episodes,
- 3:11Speaker 2: he definitely was a silent standout, okay ye, Like when
- 3:15Speaker 2: he got out of his little package, he got out
- 3:18Speaker 2: the limo, I was like, my eye was on him,
- 3:21Speaker 2: but he didn't become like a main character for a
- 3:23Speaker 2: couple episodes. When did you know this guy's in my
- 3:27Speaker 2: top three or four?
- 3:30Speaker 3: Ocean said, So, that's what I want to say.
- 3:33Speaker 5: Week three the Barbie Day, Like he killed his performance.
- 3:36Speaker 3: It's like so good.
- 3:37Speaker 5: But it was really that conversation that night when I
- 3:41Speaker 5: took him up to my room and I was just
- 3:44Speaker 5: like obviously like wanting to do something special for him,
- 3:47Speaker 5: but then he ended up just like truly changing.
- 3:51Speaker 3: My life in that moment.
- 3:52Speaker 5: Essentially that conversation what you guys saw, it was a
- 3:54Speaker 5: brief moment, but it was a conversation that brought me
- 3:58Speaker 5: to tears, and like it was just raw tears, genuine tears,
- 4:01Speaker 5: because that was like the first moment I ever felt
- 4:04Speaker 5: really seen by someone, Like obviously it was on an
- 4:08Speaker 5: intimate level, but like in my life, like no one
- 4:10Speaker 5: has ever been able to talk about me the way
- 4:14Speaker 5: that he did in that moment, and I was like
- 4:17Speaker 5: it kind of hit me. I was like, oh God,
- 4:18Speaker 5: like it's happening, you know, you kind of get that
- 4:20Speaker 5: feeling of like, Okay, now I really am starting to
- 4:24Speaker 5: recognize like this person could be my person. And it
- 4:27Speaker 5: was like scary a little bit, but it was so
- 4:29Speaker 5: like exciting.
- 4:31Speaker 2: That's so beautiful. I remember that moment. It's it's a
- 4:34Speaker 2: good one. Yeah, Dot. And when did you feel like, oh,
- 4:38Speaker 2: this isn't a show, like this could actually be my wife?
- 4:43Speaker 4: Yeah? Probably the same moment obviously the chat in I mean,
- 4:48Speaker 4: I would say it started week two when I got
- 4:50Speaker 4: out of the show phase, because that was like kind
- 4:52Speaker 4: of like what am I doing here? Like that this
- 4:55Speaker 4: whole faith thing is true? Like am I just a
- 4:57Speaker 4: Jackasser coming here with that conversation after the barbecue for
- 5:03Speaker 4: the second Rose, before the second Row ceremony, And then
- 5:06Speaker 4: she just received what I said so well and so
- 5:09Speaker 4: like for me, that was important, right because then I'm like, Okay,
- 5:11Speaker 4: this is not BS. She's actually looking for low and
- 5:14Speaker 4: she's very serious about it and she connects on what
- 5:16Speaker 4: I shared with her. But then, like she said, the
- 5:18Speaker 4: ocean side was just so huge for us because we
- 5:22Speaker 4: just that's where the foundation I feel like started being
- 5:24Speaker 4: laid for both of us. Together on that one journey,
- 5:27Speaker 4: and then following obviously got that one on one and
- 5:29Speaker 4: the rest was history.
- 5:30Speaker 2: So truly, yeah, you got the one on one and
- 5:33Speaker 2: then the next week you got another one on one
- 5:35Speaker 2: and that was big news. How did you fenangle that one?
- 5:40Speaker 3: I couldn't get enough. I love it. I know that question.
- 5:46Speaker 5: Obviously, it's so tricky to answer because obviously at that
- 5:49Speaker 5: what we see that week, there's several guys at that
- 5:52Speaker 5: point who hadn't had.
- 5:53Speaker 3: One on ones.
- 5:54Speaker 5: But in specifics, like when it came to Dawton, I knew,
- 5:58Speaker 5: like that day for that date that I selected him for,
- 6:02Speaker 5: which was the marathon, I was like, it's a long
- 6:05Speaker 5: date and I wanted to spend that day with someone
- 6:09Speaker 5: that I knew I was like gonna have without a doubt,
- 6:11Speaker 5: Like there was gonna be no doubt in my mind.
- 6:12Speaker 5: I was going to have a great time because raking
- 6:15Speaker 5: up like I mean that was that day started at
- 6:16Speaker 5: six am and then we spent essentially the whole day together.
- 6:19Speaker 3: So it was really important to me.
- 6:21Speaker 5: But I was like, again, like I was coming off
- 6:23Speaker 5: such a high from the last one on one. I
- 6:25Speaker 5: was like, all right, well him again, and They're like
- 6:28Speaker 5: what Nope, him again, Yeah.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Yeah, all right. Another moment that I loved was hometownst
- 6:36Speaker 2: in your hometown blew us away, And it was after
- 6:40Speaker 2: a series of hometowns they were all really so great,
- 6:43Speaker 2: like all the families. You know, we were a little
- 6:44Speaker 2: bit skeptical of Joey's uncle, but besides that, like great hometowns,
- 6:49Speaker 2: and then yours just was a cherry on top. Your
- 6:52Speaker 2: parents surprising you back from Africa were you were, were
- 6:56Speaker 2: you were?
- 6:57Speaker 4: Were?
- 6:57Speaker 2: You were both surprised, right, you fully had no idea.
- 7:00Speaker 4: Yes, that's not great.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Yeah, and your mom Dotton talking to Charity about like
- 7:06Speaker 2: how she's like already ready to plan the wedding and
- 7:09Speaker 2: like she's praying with her. Oh my gosh. It was
- 7:11Speaker 2: the sweetest thing. Do you guys have any stories that
- 7:14Speaker 2: we didn't get to see from hometowns that were really meaningful?
- 7:20Speaker 5: Mine is the biggest one, which was the after part.
- 7:24Speaker 3: So when we went to the drive in theater.
- 7:27Speaker 5: He had obviously that like beautiful like little movie clips
- 7:31Speaker 5: of us from like birth to like where we're at now,
- 7:34Speaker 5: like essentially our story, and so at the end I
- 7:38Speaker 5: was sobbing wet face again. But that was when I
- 7:43Speaker 5: actually told him I was falling in love with him,
- 7:45Speaker 5: So that was like a really special moment between us.
- 7:48Speaker 3: It was we kind of bummed out that that didn't.
- 7:51Speaker 5: Make it, but I was like, it's okay, Like it
- 7:53Speaker 5: was kind of like one for us to keep. But
- 7:55Speaker 5: now I was like, I love talking about that in
- 7:57Speaker 5: shanging because it definitely does kind of change that jectory
- 8:00Speaker 5: of like where I was at in the sense of
- 8:02Speaker 5: like how I felt about him at that time, which
- 8:04Speaker 5: was hometown. It's like, like you said his hometown was
- 8:07Speaker 5: so good, and I was like, this was a perfect
- 8:08Speaker 5: moment for me to like express how I felt about
- 8:11Speaker 5: him at the time.
- 8:12Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah, that's the biggest one probably in the whole season,
- 8:16Speaker 4: really the biggest thing that probably wasn't shown. I would say, also,
- 8:20Speaker 4: like just my hometown just went I mean, it went
- 8:22Speaker 4: so well. Wasn't what I expected, Like that Durans aren't
- 8:25Speaker 4: like they don't want me to do this, you know,
- 8:27Speaker 4: my family just like, no, they're not going to think
- 8:29Speaker 4: I'm gonna find love on here. But they knew that
- 8:30Speaker 4: if I went this far, then I must actually be,
- 8:34Speaker 4: you know, have feelings for this girl. And so everyone
- 8:37Speaker 4: just put their best foot forward. And that's why they
- 8:39Speaker 4: embraced charity. And you know, me and my dad had
- 8:41Speaker 4: a moment too where he was just like sobbing. That
- 8:43Speaker 4: guy never cries. I mean, that guy's like he's insane.
- 8:46Speaker 4: He never cries. But he had a moment where he
- 8:48Speaker 4: was sobbing and like just connecting with me as a
- 8:51Speaker 4: son and just like being proud and so that was
- 8:53Speaker 4: a beautiful moment for us, and he said things that
- 8:55Speaker 4: he had never said to me before. And yeah, I
- 8:58Speaker 4: had amazing conversations with my sister too. She had asked
- 9:00Speaker 4: great questions about charity and had just the best insights.
- 9:03Speaker 4: So yeah, there was so much in that hometown. It
- 9:06Speaker 4: really could have gone better, and so I wish they
- 9:09Speaker 4: were able to show that. But it's okay, I get it.
- 9:10Speaker 4: Death to build time.
- 9:11Speaker 2: So yeah, well, you know, there's something about the show
- 9:15Speaker 2: that really makes you say things that you never thought
- 9:17Speaker 2: that you'd say like out loud, and be as vulnerable
- 9:20Speaker 2: as you never could imagine you'd be. But then I
- 9:23Speaker 2: also just wanted to say they had to count out
- 9:26Speaker 2: the falling in love with you, because like that would
- 9:28Speaker 2: be a dead giveaway exactly, there would be no surprise
- 9:33Speaker 2: to me. There like already was no surprise in my heart,
- 9:37Speaker 2: but like I but I still like couldn't wait to
- 9:40Speaker 2: see the journey to get there. And if you had
- 9:43Speaker 2: seen that, it would have just been like That's what
- 9:46Speaker 2: we kind of like.
- 9:46Speaker 3: We told each other.
- 9:47Speaker 5: We're like, well, if that had been left in then
- 9:50Speaker 5: that people would go tune it out.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Yeah, totally, Well, don this is like super awkward when
- 9:56Speaker 2: I bring up Joey because but I'm sure you're used
- 9:59Speaker 2: to it by now. Okay, great, great, great, great charity
- 10:07Speaker 2: watching the like the whole top three week and beyond,
- 10:11Speaker 2: I was like, what do you mean you don't know?
- 10:15Speaker 3: I was actually losing my mind. I think I need
- 10:17Speaker 3: to say that.
- 10:18Speaker 5: I know, I know right now, Okay, I will be
- 10:27Speaker 5: fair like Aaron probably like I was just okay, starting afresh.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Oh yeah, then you also let Aaron be in and
- 10:35Speaker 2: I was like, wait, why you're very kind, but like
- 10:39Speaker 2: we know that these two are like so much higher.
- 10:43Speaker 5: In drinkings Joey and Dot and definitely was like firm
- 10:46Speaker 5: like final two, like yeah, regardless of anything. But I
- 10:51Speaker 5: was just like, I mean, you guys can kind of
- 10:53Speaker 5: relate as contestants, but it's like you're just under such
- 10:56Speaker 5: like mental exhaustion and so your emotions at that like
- 11:00Speaker 5: you can't really like I don't want to say I
- 11:01Speaker 5: can't think straight, but like I'm I don't want to
- 11:04Speaker 5: say easily swayed either, but it's like anything.
- 11:07Speaker 3: Kind of goes. You're just like kind of going through
- 11:09Speaker 3: the motions.
- 11:09Speaker 5: And I don't like to say that either because it
- 11:11Speaker 5: almost feels like I didn't take it serious. I definitely was,
- 11:13Speaker 5: but there's a lot that's happening. So that week was
- 11:16Speaker 5: very like jam pack lots of like important decisions to make.
- 11:19Speaker 5: You'renaring things down. So yeah, when I said I didn't know,
- 11:24Speaker 5: in my heart of hearts, I probably did know. But
- 11:26Speaker 5: like in those initial moments when I was like asked
- 11:29Speaker 5: on the on the spot, like what am I feeling,
- 11:30Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 11:31Speaker 3: I really don't know, Like give me something time to
- 11:33Speaker 3: think about it.
- 11:34Speaker 5: But yeah, it was I mean gotten for a while
- 11:39Speaker 5: was like up there and was like clear front runner.
- 11:42Speaker 5: But then obviously, like when we got to Fiji, like
- 11:44Speaker 5: that's when like Joey kind of like definitely caught up.
- 11:47Speaker 5: And so then that's when I was really like in
- 11:49Speaker 5: a place where I was starting to become torn but
- 11:52Speaker 5: like my gut and I had to rely on that.
- 11:54Speaker 5: So as you see like my journey throughout this whole season,
- 11:57Speaker 5: it's like Cherity's intuition, Cheerity's gut, like.
- 11:59Speaker 3: When she going to finally trust that and like rely
- 12:02Speaker 3: on that.
- 12:02Speaker 5: And so that's when I knew, like what I'm feeling
- 12:04Speaker 5: in this moment and how i feel about this man, like.
- 12:07Speaker 3: This is what I'm supposed to do and this is
- 12:09Speaker 3: who I'm supposed to be with.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Let's talk about your family's opinion. I know that way heavy.
- 12:24Speaker 2: I'm sure they truly loved you guys both in that
- 12:27Speaker 2: first impression, but you know, the way we see it
- 12:31Speaker 2: is another way that another tactic that they used to
- 12:34Speaker 2: like throw us off a bit, and they seem to
- 12:37Speaker 2: think that you lit up more around Joey or you
- 12:39Speaker 2: were like more relaxed. Yeah, and like things just seemed
- 12:42Speaker 2: heavier because I just think that, like the love is
- 12:44Speaker 2: heavier with gotten, right, So how like, so how was
- 12:49Speaker 2: that really? How was their reception to both guys? And
- 12:53Speaker 2: then elaborate on that conversation that you had with your
- 12:57Speaker 2: mom or she was like Charity, I'm not going to
- 12:58Speaker 2: decide for you.
- 12:59Speaker 4: That would.
- 13:04Speaker 5: No So my my family both loved Joey and Dawton,
- 13:10Speaker 5: and obviously what you said you're spot on about, like
- 13:14Speaker 5: kind of another tactic used. But I think if I
- 13:19Speaker 5: can make sense, like Joey's was the first meet the
- 13:23Speaker 5: family is what we see too, so that's the first
- 13:26Speaker 5: time I'm also seeing my family, so how they see
- 13:29Speaker 5: me in that moment, It's like I am like very excited,
- 13:32Speaker 5: I'm very glowy because it's like I'm bringing home someone
- 13:35Speaker 5: for you guys see me, but I'm also excited to
- 13:37Speaker 5: see my family. So like a lot of that energy
- 13:40Speaker 5: was contributed to, like my family just being back in
- 13:43Speaker 5: their presence, and so I don't think people like obviously
- 13:45Speaker 5: take that into consideration at all. But no, my my
- 13:49Speaker 5: family absolutely loved him. Like my mom, yes, she was
- 13:52Speaker 5: a little bit more harsh, like harsh or harder, but.
- 13:55Speaker 3: She's just being protective.
- 13:56Speaker 5: And I will like continuously defend that because my mom
- 14:00Speaker 5: by no means doesn't like him, Like that's like an
- 14:03Speaker 5: incorrect narrative.
- 14:04Speaker 3: But like my parents both gave their.
- 14:08Speaker 5: Blessing and gave Dotton their blessing for him to propose
- 14:12Speaker 5: to me, and so yeah, it went great.
- 14:15Speaker 3: There was a lot of conversations that.
- 14:17Speaker 5: We didn't see, Like him and my sister had an
- 14:18Speaker 5: amazing conversation that wasn't really shown in its entirety him
- 14:23Speaker 5: and my dad like we only saw like a brief
- 14:26Speaker 5: with that, and then obviously the sit down with my
- 14:30Speaker 5: mom after I had to come back in and just
- 14:31Speaker 5: kind of give them the rundown of what's going on again,
- 14:35Speaker 5: another mental exhaustion moment. I was like someone just helped me,
- 14:38Speaker 5: like rescue me. And I kind of was like a
- 14:40Speaker 5: little dependent in that moment of my mom to be
- 14:43Speaker 5: like just give me like pros and cons and she
- 14:45Speaker 5: knew in her heart like that wasn't going to be
- 14:47Speaker 5: the most beneficial thing for her to do as a mom,
- 14:50Speaker 5: which I appreciate her for and looking back on, like
- 14:53Speaker 5: in that moment, yes, I was very frustrated, but looking back,
- 14:56Speaker 5: I respect her on that because I think if she
- 14:59Speaker 5: had said bade them like one person over the other,
- 15:02Speaker 5: that could have like some way probably altered the outcome,
- 15:05Speaker 5: and I didn't want that. So the fact that she
- 15:07Speaker 5: trusted me enough to make the decision for myself because
- 15:10Speaker 5: I'm the one that has to marry him, and so
- 15:13Speaker 5: she believed in me and she trusted that.
- 15:15Speaker 2: So Okay, well, you guys, I'm just so glad the
- 15:18Speaker 2: way it turned out again, and I like thought that
- 15:26Speaker 2: that was the most beautiful proposal, would you guys? Both
- 15:29Speaker 2: said to each other. Made everybody at home melt. I've
- 15:32Speaker 2: told everybody who hasn't like watched the show in a
- 15:35Speaker 2: few years that like yours is worth going back and
- 15:38Speaker 2: watching because the love story is just so great. I
- 15:41Speaker 2: want to talk about happy couples weekends and like after
- 15:44Speaker 2: the proposal, because after the proposal you get to have
- 15:47Speaker 2: like a little vacation and you know, wherever you are
- 15:50Speaker 2: for like three or four days. How was that when
- 15:53Speaker 2: the doors closed, the cameras were off, and you were like,
- 15:56Speaker 2: oh my gosh, this is like a real thing. Was
- 15:58Speaker 2: it at all awkward or was it just wonderful?
- 16:02Speaker 4: There's like there's like a small period like once it's
- 16:06Speaker 4: all seted than the proposal, Actually we get a couple
- 16:08Speaker 4: of days to like hang out and like just culminate everything,
- 16:11Speaker 4: and there's this like this like somber period of taking
- 16:15Speaker 4: it all in, like what the hell we just did
- 16:18Speaker 4: and went through and like the love that I have
- 16:21Speaker 4: and how we're going to take that into the next step.
- 16:23Speaker 4: So it's very like kind of it. It's a little heavy,
- 16:26Speaker 4: right to say, it's a little heavy, but not in
- 16:27Speaker 4: a bad in the best way possible. I think both
- 16:30Speaker 4: of us are just preparing for the next steps. And
- 16:33Speaker 4: then it only continued to grow. And I think we
- 16:35Speaker 4: took the lessons from the show in terms of having
- 16:38Speaker 4: those hard conversations, uh, talking deep, using our communication skills
- 16:42Speaker 4: that helped us bond in the first place, and continued
- 16:44Speaker 4: that into the Happy Cobbles, and so we continued learning
- 16:48Speaker 4: about each other. We didn't like let our foot off
- 16:50Speaker 4: the gas, and it's only helped us grow more.
- 16:53Speaker 2: So.
- 16:54Speaker 4: It's it's it's every stage has its fun and it's challenges.
- 16:56Speaker 4: It's also fun to like be kind of sneaky. There's
- 16:58Speaker 4: like something like tap about it.
- 17:00Speaker 5: You know.
- 17:00Speaker 4: It's like like no one knows, but yeah, it's a
- 17:05Speaker 4: weird mix of emotions with each stage. But I feel
- 17:08Speaker 4: like we handled it so well.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Wait a second, no one knows. But there was that
- 17:12Speaker 2: one time that you guys both posted that you were
- 17:15Speaker 2: at the same place at the same time.
- 17:17Speaker 4: What happened there?
- 17:19Speaker 3: We just were in town at the same time. We
- 17:22Speaker 3: were not.
- 17:26Speaker 2: Total coincidence was somebody wearing wigs.
- 17:29Speaker 3: No, we actually weren't together.
- 17:31Speaker 5: I just was in town for press, but it was
- 17:34Speaker 5: I was trying to be funny and it did not
- 17:36Speaker 5: go over.
- 17:39Speaker 2: We don't have to focus on that. But there was
- 17:42Speaker 2: another slipop by People magazine posted your finale your finale results.
- 17:51Speaker 4: Accident, how do you miss?
- 17:53Speaker 3: I don't know that.
- 17:54Speaker 5: I was so bummed about that, and it was even
- 17:57Speaker 5: only up there for like a split second. But as
- 17:59Speaker 5: we know it, anything up on the internet is just
- 18:02Speaker 5: it's out. So yeah, that was a little disappointing, but
- 18:08Speaker 5: so close to the I.
- 18:09Speaker 3: Know, it was like right two days before.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Unbelievable.
- 18:13Speaker 3: I was like, this is not happening. This is literally
- 18:16Speaker 3: our luck. But this is happening, but.
- 18:18Speaker 4: A major publication even al I'm saying it would.
- 18:22Speaker 5: Be different if I posted it or someone in production
- 18:26Speaker 5: posted it.
- 18:26Speaker 2: But no, I can't believe that that happened, and I
- 18:30Speaker 2: can't imagine how annoyed the you know, the behind the
- 18:33Speaker 2: scenes crew must be. I saw those things like the
- 18:38Speaker 2: revealed accidental spill up, you know what a slip up,
- 18:41Speaker 2: and I didn't look like who it was. I just like,
- 18:45Speaker 2: as soon as I saw like bachelorettes spoiled by people.
- 18:49Speaker 4: I was like.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Flying past this. Yeah, okay, let's talk about present day now.
- 18:56Speaker 2: How are you okay? You're brought to prepare for Dancing
- 18:58Speaker 2: with the Stars.
- 19:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:00Speaker 2: This has always been a critical challenge point for bachelor
- 19:05Speaker 2: leads getting off the show, who decided to do Dancing
- 19:08Speaker 2: with the Stars. How are you going to thrive through it?
- 19:13Speaker 5: I think if anything, we like gotten said, we have
- 19:16Speaker 5: done the work and we have laid such a strong
- 19:20Speaker 5: foundation for where we're at at this point, and that's
- 19:23Speaker 5: only going to continue.
- 19:24Speaker 3: To grow and evolve.
- 19:27Speaker 5: So it's just prioritizing each other. And I know, obviously
- 19:30Speaker 5: that sounds a little crazy because it's like, well, my
- 19:32Speaker 5: priority now will essentially be Dancing with the Stars, but
- 19:35Speaker 5: never forgetting like what this is and what we have
- 19:38Speaker 5: and our relationship that still is very much a priority
- 19:41Speaker 5: and will be. And so just it requires is going
- 19:43Speaker 5: to require more time being more intentional with that and
- 19:46Speaker 5: how we utilize that. But I am very confident that
- 19:49Speaker 5: we will be totally fine. He will be out there
- 19:52Speaker 5: with me, so that definitely helps. And if at any point,
- 19:56Speaker 5: you know, it gets to chaotic, I don't.
- 19:59Speaker 3: Know, but we'll address it when when we get there.
- 20:02Speaker 3: But right now, like I am, I don't.
- 20:04Speaker 5: Have any any doubts and he doesn't either, So I
- 20:06Speaker 5: think us both being on the same page with that.
- 20:09Speaker 3: He literally is like my biggest supporter and fan.
- 20:12Speaker 5: So with that energy, I think we will be able
- 20:15Speaker 5: to push.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Right on through.
- 20:17Speaker 2: So you don't believe in the Dancing with the Stars curse.
- 20:20Speaker 4: I don't.
- 20:20Speaker 3: I don't believe in any of this nonsense.
- 20:22Speaker 4: Are you kidding?
- 20:23Speaker 3: But this is real deale right here?
- 20:25Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly. This is not like a trial here. We're not.
- 20:28Speaker 4: I can for me. I don't think her either, We're not.
- 20:29Speaker 4: I'm just not a trial. Like, oh we're still kind
- 20:31Speaker 4: of figuring thinks of that. Yeah, Like no, this is
- 20:33Speaker 4: locked in and like and then like, just like in
- 20:36Speaker 4: any marriage relationship, you are going to work through things.
- 20:38Speaker 4: So I don't have any conterns on my friend. I'm
- 20:40Speaker 4: just excited because I feel so good that she's going
- 20:42Speaker 4: to freaking bring that Marion ball back home. Like she's
- 20:45Speaker 4: got everything going for her, no pressure, baby, but I'm
- 20:48Speaker 4: super duper excited. So and I'll be there out there,
- 20:50Speaker 4: and so like you won't have that distance factor and
- 20:53Speaker 4: we'll just keep talking and I think it'll be good. Yeah,
- 20:56Speaker 4: it'll be fun.
- 20:57Speaker 3: Thanks.
- 20:57Speaker 4: True.
- 20:58Speaker 2: So what's the living situation going to be like when
- 21:00Speaker 2: she's on Dancing with the Stars.
- 21:02Speaker 5: So he's gonna come out to LA with me while
- 21:04Speaker 5: I'm out there, so we'll be where I'm living at,
- 21:07Speaker 5: He'll be with living with me, and then after that
- 21:09Speaker 5: we'll relocate to our permanent place, which will.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Be in New York. Nice. All right, So Dalton, you
- 21:17Speaker 2: are going back to your job in New York. I've
- 21:20Speaker 2: been working your dear back.
- 21:22Speaker 5: I love it.
- 21:23Speaker 4: Live as normal life as possible since coming back. So yeah,
- 21:28Speaker 4: it's just going to be business as usual and just
- 21:30Speaker 4: continuing and taking a day by daily, by week kind
- 21:32Speaker 4: of thing. So yeah, and I work remote, so I
- 21:34Speaker 4: can do this anywhere.
- 21:36Speaker 2: So amazing, perfect, your work being remote will be very
- 21:39Speaker 2: helpful and especially the Dancing with the Stars chapter of
- 21:42Speaker 2: your life. Okay, so let's talk about like engagement marriage.
- 21:49Speaker 2: What's the timeline here? Because I feel like you guys
- 21:52Speaker 2: are not going to be one of those bachelor couples
- 21:54Speaker 2: that wait a.
- 21:55Speaker 3: Bit and you're in.
- 21:56Speaker 5: You would be correct, Yeah, you would be very correct
- 22:00Speaker 5: in that assessment.
- 22:02Speaker 3: We both talked about it.
- 22:03Speaker 5: We don't want like the whole like five year engagement,
- 22:06Speaker 5: Like I'm just not into that. Like, yeah, our whole
- 22:09Speaker 5: purpose and point of coming on this was a fun
- 22:11Speaker 5: love we found it. We feel very confident. Obviously we're
- 22:15Speaker 5: going to take our time with it, not rush, but
- 22:17Speaker 5: like we are very excited about the idea and concept
- 22:20Speaker 5: of planning a wedding, getting married soon. So maybe a
- 22:24Speaker 5: year year and a half will be yeah, getting getting.
- 22:28Speaker 3: Wed, walking down the aisle. So we'll probably have two weddings.
- 22:32Speaker 2: You will probably have two weddings, just.
- 22:33Speaker 5: A small intimate one and then the big Nigerian one
- 22:37Speaker 5: that everyone's like rooting for and waiting for.
- 22:40Speaker 2: So yeah, my gosh, So it'll happen in Nigeria.
- 22:45Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the plan.
- 22:47Speaker 4: Yeah. So obviously things can change, but that'd be ideal.
- 22:50Speaker 5: Yeah, so nice.
- 22:53Speaker 3: Absolutely, she says she's ready to whisk away.
- 22:56Speaker 2: But she's so freaking cute.
- 22:59Speaker 3: So cute.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Okay. I have a few fun questions for you guys,
- 23:12Speaker 2: But first, well, I guess to kick those fun questions off,
- 23:15Speaker 2: are you a vander pumb Rules fan? And like, do
- 23:17Speaker 2: you how do you feel about competing against Arianna Maddox.
- 23:22Speaker 5: I like absolutely love her and I stand her because
- 23:25Speaker 5: after that scandal, Like, my god, so I actually recently
- 23:29Speaker 5: just got into it because of that, which is crazy.
- 23:32Speaker 5: He has no reality, Like who is this? How do
- 23:36Speaker 5: I feel about competing against her? Yeah, I think it'll
- 23:39Speaker 5: be fun.
- 23:40Speaker 3: It's excited. I'm excited to really meet her and like
- 23:42Speaker 3: get to know her. But yeah, I don't really have
- 23:45Speaker 3: any thoughts besides the fact that I am a fan
- 23:47Speaker 3: of her. So that's gonna be interesting.
- 23:51Speaker 2: That's awesome. That's gonna be so much fun. You guys
- 23:53Speaker 2: have quite a height difference. Any like, any fun jokey
- 23:56Speaker 2: stories about that.
- 23:58Speaker 3: When we're at the.
- 23:59Speaker 5: Club, I'm on I'm on the couch and he's on
- 24:02Speaker 5: the floor, so I'm always on something. I'm standing on
- 24:06Speaker 5: the bus.
- 24:09Speaker 4: Are always a good time.
- 24:10Speaker 3: Who said the best though?
- 24:12Speaker 2: Jus the hug jumps?
- 24:14Speaker 4: You know?
- 24:14Speaker 2: Okay, okay, yes, I'm sorry. People have told me that
- 24:17Speaker 2: I called a koala jump and then people corrected me
- 24:21Speaker 2: once I call it koala jump and they're like, they're who,
- 24:23Speaker 2: jus who you hug jumps?
- 24:25Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 24:25Speaker 4: I learned that too. Just go on the show with her?
- 24:28Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 24:28Speaker 3: Who? No, he does it?
- 24:32Speaker 5: So good because he just like it's like a smooth transition,
- 24:36Speaker 5: like yeah, glad into his arms.
- 24:41Speaker 4: Please?
- 24:43Speaker 2: Do you do who jus in the real world?
- 24:46Speaker 5: Sometimes yeah, yeah, when we're just like goofing off happy couples.
- 24:50Speaker 4: We haven't seen each other for pretty much did it
- 24:54Speaker 4: coming right through the hug jump, So yeah, now we
- 24:56Speaker 4: do it like a little bit more goofy here, but
- 24:58Speaker 4: still it's still there.
- 25:01Speaker 2: I love it. What's like something you guys bonded over
- 25:05Speaker 2: in haavy couples that you were like, Oh my gosh,
- 25:07Speaker 2: I didn't know we had this in common, like something
- 25:09Speaker 2: like pop culture.
- 25:10Speaker 4: Mm hmm, so much like you have very sent like
- 25:16Speaker 4: comedy sense, like like our sense of humor is so similar.
- 25:21Speaker 4: Music tastes right for things that weren't discussed per se
- 25:25Speaker 4: on the show. But we figured out slowly but surely.
- 25:28Speaker 4: So it's hard to say, like we both like Gunna, I.
- 25:34Speaker 3: Went to see Beyonce together. Nice Beyonce. Fan love this.
- 25:44Speaker 4: It's fun.
- 25:46Speaker 2: You went to Vegas right after you were announced as
- 25:49Speaker 2: a couple. How was that like big debut?
- 25:52Speaker 3: That was? It was fun? I would say we had
- 25:54Speaker 3: like a really good time and went.
- 25:56Speaker 5: My pretty fast just because we were just like enjoying
- 25:59Speaker 5: each other and had some of his guy friends from
- 26:03Speaker 5: the show come and they were there, so that was
- 26:06Speaker 5: interesting and.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Fun because I saw that was weird.
- 26:11Speaker 5: So that was fun, like just being able to be
- 26:14Speaker 5: out and like obviously we did have people like.
- 26:17Speaker 3: Come up and recognize us.
- 26:18Speaker 5: I would I'd always check about and say, like, I
- 26:20Speaker 5: get recognized more with him just because of like the
- 26:22Speaker 5: height difference, so they spot him and then they're.
- 26:24Speaker 2: Like there she is, you know, yeah, yeah, but yeah.
- 26:27Speaker 3: No, it was.
- 26:28Speaker 5: It was such a good time and it was actually
- 26:30Speaker 5: I think necessary for us to just kind of have
- 26:32Speaker 5: that period right after to just like.
- 26:34Speaker 3: Bask and just celebration.
- 26:36Speaker 5: And his birthday was two days after AFR two, so
- 26:39Speaker 5: it was just a good week.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Amazing. Do you guys have any embarrassing things that happened,
- 26:46Speaker 2: either like in the press that you've done recently or
- 26:50Speaker 2: during the filming that never got on air embarrassing like
- 26:55Speaker 2: really like silly stupid stories.
- 26:57Speaker 3: Oh thanks, Then I've been on my best behavior on
- 27:00Speaker 3: this pressure.
- 27:01Speaker 2: You've done a great job. You have not slipped up
- 27:04Speaker 2: at all.
- 27:05Speaker 3: I really have been on that behavior.
- 27:08Speaker 4: Anything embarrassing I will say, I will admit, but did
- 27:11Speaker 4: the dodgeball day. I did get out one time, but
- 27:16Speaker 4: and I stayed in. I didn't leave, but that was
- 27:18Speaker 4: because those rules were garbage. Okay, those were not real
- 27:22Speaker 4: dodgeball rules. So it's like, I'm not gonna listen your rules,
- 27:24Speaker 4: like if these aren't real rus So anyway, it's long
- 27:26Speaker 4: story short. That's probably like the only thing that I
- 27:28Speaker 4: can think of that like, oh no, Like it was
- 27:31Speaker 4: kind of like I was like a little shakyve out.
- 27:33Speaker 3: But other than that, Now you cheated, Okay, I.
- 27:38Speaker 4: Mean, is it cheating if there's no rules? There were
- 27:41Speaker 4: no rules. There's rules, but it's not I'm realizing that.
- 27:45Speaker 2: I like you guys realizing things on there eight rules.
- 27:49Speaker 4: Okay, So it's not super exciting, but that's all I
- 27:51Speaker 4: got it. It was pretty straightforward, nothing too embarrassing, just
- 27:56Speaker 4: cracking jokes and being idiots with the boys and connecting with it.
- 28:01Speaker 2: I like creating fun, playful tension with couples on the show.
- 28:06Speaker 2: So I'm going to ask you a question now that
- 28:08Speaker 2: will wrap up this podcast with that you guys will
- 28:11Speaker 2: be able to like really converse about later in the day.
- 28:14Speaker 2: Great when you think about living together because you've been
- 28:19Speaker 2: in hotel rooms and such together over the past few weeks.
- 28:24Speaker 2: What worries you about the move in about each other?
- 28:29Speaker 2: Like does he you know, just like does he like
- 28:31Speaker 2: always leave his toothbrush in a certain spot, or like
- 28:35Speaker 2: does he leave the cabinets open? You know, something dumb
- 28:38Speaker 2: like that? One done has a lot.
- 28:43Speaker 4: I'm thinking, I'm thinking.
- 28:47Speaker 2: You docuse bring it up now. It'd be more fun
- 28:49Speaker 2: to bring it up on a podcast than it would
- 28:51Speaker 2: be to like actually say, hey, that's really annoying when
- 28:54Speaker 2: you do that.
- 28:54Speaker 5: I will say he's fairly clean and organized, which I love.
- 28:58Speaker 3: Thank god. Oh man. The biggest thing.
- 29:04Speaker 5: I feel like, the biggest debate for us is going
- 29:07Speaker 5: to be like a debate.
- 29:08Speaker 3: It is a debate. Well, we're not talking about the
- 29:10Speaker 3: snoring thing, Okay, it's the temperature.
- 29:12Speaker 5: Like I feel like that's normal for every couple. It's
- 29:14Speaker 5: like what I am I typically run cold and he's
- 29:17Speaker 5: more hot, right, And yeah, that's a nice way to
- 29:21Speaker 5: put it. It's just ridiculous, Like, what do you mean
- 29:23Speaker 5: the nice way to put it?
- 29:25Speaker 3: That's on a ridiculous temperature. It's like sixty And I'm like,
- 29:28Speaker 3: that doesn't make sense.
- 29:30Speaker 4: She said, Now I'll put it on like sixty seven
- 29:34Speaker 4: and sixty.
- 29:34Speaker 2: Six still too cold for Ray for sure, under right.
- 29:38Speaker 4: But then she'd be like, I'm cold, and it'll get
- 29:40Speaker 4: to like sixty eight and she'd be like, I'm sweating bullets.
- 29:43Speaker 5: So it's just like, okay, now you're kind of you're
- 29:45Speaker 5: really putting me under the Thank you, Ashley, this is
- 29:48Speaker 5: what you're doing.
- 29:50Speaker 2: Well, I successfully did it, and Charity, I'm with you.
- 29:53Speaker 2: If it's even seventy, I'm cold. It has to be
- 29:56Speaker 2: seventy two for me to be comfortable.
- 29:58Speaker 5: I feel I'm like like seven above seventy always.
- 30:04Speaker 3: Like you gotta get with it.
- 30:05Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a it's a woman thing. And like if
- 30:07Speaker 2: I'm doing chores around the house that I'm moving a lot,
- 30:09Speaker 2: then seventy is fine. But if I'm just chilling on
- 30:11Speaker 2: the couch, I'm gonna be cold at seventy exactly.
- 30:13Speaker 4: That's actually so.
- 30:15Speaker 2: Wid Oh, this is gonna be a little bit of
- 30:17Speaker 2: a problem. She's gonna have to wear sweatshirts in the summer,
- 30:20Speaker 2: and that's not fun in summer. I want to wear
- 30:23Speaker 2: skimpy things exactly.
- 30:24Speaker 5: I want to like not have to put on layers.
- 30:27Speaker 2: Yeah, like dot do you want to see her full figure,
- 30:31Speaker 2: you know, in like a cute little workout outfit, or
- 30:33Speaker 2: do you want to see sweatshirts and sweatpants?
- 30:36Speaker 4: I do, but I don't want to see you on sweating.
- 30:38Speaker 3: So so wow.
- 30:42Speaker 4: I'm saying like, it's it's yin and yang you're doing.
- 30:45Speaker 2: He has, you know, a six foot seven body that
- 30:48Speaker 2: I'm sure emits a ton of heat and I can't
- 30:51Speaker 2: relate insulated. All right, guys, you are such a joy
- 30:57Speaker 2: to you and thank you so much for coming on,
- 31:00Speaker 2: spending your time, and for sharing your love story with us.
- 31:03Speaker 2: We cannot wait to watch the next chapters. Thank you
- 31:06Speaker 2: so much, Ashley. Until then we said hi, very will
