- 0:28Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31So I've been waiting to start this podcast for a bit of time
- 0:35and you might hear in the background that my neighbor's
- 0:37dog is barking and this dog has been barking for.
- 0:41I can't even begin to tell you. Maybe it's far enough away that
- 0:44you can't hear it on the speaker, but I can definitely
- 0:47hear it. And this dog has been going on
- 0:49for about 30 minutes now and I've been waiting for someone to
- 0:52come out. It's early and I've been waiting
- 0:54for someone to come out and stop the dog from barking and it just
- 0:58hasn't happened and I finally decided, you know, OK, my
- 1:01irritation with this dog barking.
- 1:03Obviously it it is a thing that they don't stop the dog from
- 1:08barking when he's outside. And I thought this is messing
- 1:12up. And I was getting myself all
- 1:13worked up about the fact that it was messing up the podcast and
- 1:16it was messing up my head and it was, I was so aggravated.
- 1:20I was sitting here saying I should text them and say to them
- 1:23get your dog in the house. And I was getting all back.
- 1:26Like, I grew up in Boston and and it put me in a position
- 1:32where I said, you know what, I should record while the dog is
- 1:34barking so that I can tell everybody that irritating things
- 1:37happen and I get irritated. It's without a doubt.
- 1:40This is a big pet peeve of mine that my neighbors all around me
- 1:45don't stop their dogs when their dogs are barking like crazy.
- 1:49No doubt this dog has got a squirrel up a tree and wherever
- 1:53he sees the squirrel go, he will just stay at the tree and just
- 1:56incessantly bark as they've told me before.
- 1:58But they don't do anything about it.
- 2:01And I have recognized in myself that maybe this shows up because
- 2:07I have to learn that I have to let go of things and I have to
- 2:12not have. Now, is it still rude?
- 2:14Yes, it's still rude. Let me say that for those of you
- 2:16be like it's still rude. Yes.
- 2:17It's still rude. Yes, I can't stand it.
- 2:20Yes, they're not being good neighbors when they allow this
- 2:23stuff to go on. At the same time.
- 2:26I am my own microcosm. I am my own Petri dish.
- 2:30I am my own situation where I can say, hey, I don't have to
- 2:35take that energy in. I don't have to decide what
- 2:37that's like. I can sit there and I can say,
- 2:40you know what? I'm the dog is barking.
- 2:43I don't have to pay attention to it.
- 2:45I can let it go and move on. Now the reality is that is very
- 2:50hard for me because I am this person that says no.
- 2:53When you see something, you fix something.
- 2:55You don't let that happen. But the I am not them and they
- 2:58are not me. And this is where things get
- 3:00tricky in our heads because we will sit there and we can obsess
- 3:04on things. And instead of saying what can I
- 3:06learn from this? How can I bring my patients out
- 3:08With this? We get more and more amped up on
- 3:11it because we get a driver in the seat.
- 3:13And and for me that clearly is what I get irritation in the
- 3:17seat or I get anger in the seat. It's not going to be far behind
- 3:21from the girl who grew up in Massachusetts with an attitude
- 3:23of like, hey, take care of it because I can't stand when
- 3:28people don't take care of their business.
- 3:30And that is still a part of me. She is still on my bus.
- 3:33I have to be careful how I use her.
- 3:36I definitely have to be careful how I use her because she's not
- 3:40pleasant and I know that, so I she's like salt.
- 3:43You only can use her so often. But there's also a piece of me
- 3:47that says, well, when these things show up, this teaches me
- 3:51to have that Zen spot come out more.
- 3:55This teaches me to pull up something inside of me that says
- 3:59I can't control everything. I can't have my certainty girl
- 4:02constantly have order around me and I have to release things and
- 4:06let them go. Now at some point this is
- 4:10ridiculous and at some point I will have to text if it goes on
- 4:13for hours because it it makes you crazy.
- 4:16And I've done that before and they will go and they will get
- 4:19the dog, the thing that cracks me up, but it's hours later
- 4:23because they never do it immediately.
- 4:24It's always hours later and it drives me nuts as I've said.
- 4:27Did I say that enough? It drives me nuts.
- 4:29However, I do realize that it's part of my process to to learn
- 4:34and release and take in the ability to say.
- 4:38While I may say something about it to them, I don't have to feel
- 4:42so elevated. I don't have to go to a 10, I
- 4:44don't have to go off the chart to get a result.
- 4:49What I do have to do is let myself remain in a place of
- 4:53patience and try really hard to keep working that because there
- 4:58is growth in that, my friends. There is something in that when
- 5:02you start to have to put yourself into a position that
- 5:05you're not necessarily easily capable of putting yourself into
- 5:10it, which I know I still my, I have a very short fuse for that
- 5:14kind of stuff. And that's where I have to do
- 5:16it. I swear sometimes I say to
- 5:18myself maybe that's why the dog is there, just to teach me
- 5:21patience so that I can say, hey, I don't have to think this way
- 5:25or I don't have to allow that or I'm.
- 5:27I'm using it as a lesson to say I don't have to hear it.
- 5:31I choose to hear it. I hone in on it because clearly
- 5:34nobody else hears it. It's just me that drives.
- 5:36It drives crazy because nobody else does anything about it.
- 5:39So maybe it's just me. So it's something to think
- 5:41about. And it's funny because now as
- 5:44I'm finishing and saying that look, the dog stopped barking.
- 5:48All right, my friends, I hope you have a blessed day.
- 5:50I'll see you tomorrow. Bye.
