- 0:00and laced up let's go it's time for banter with
- 0:04the boys uh welcome back to what we got here
- 0:16better with the boys yes i thought we were joking
- 0:20about you forgetting what we're doing here i'm
- 0:23not joking i've been down for too long He's been
- 0:26gone for a single episode. That is too much.
- 0:29Missed one episode in two years. That's too much.
- 0:32How are you doing, Smelty? We missed you. We
- 0:34talked about you a little bit. It happened. I
- 0:37heard. Well, you kind of talked about me. Did
- 0:40you love my little pitch to Alpine for like a
- 0:43second? Yeah, I think I mentioned something in
- 0:48the group. text or something of that nature like
- 0:51um maybe i didn't actually but i i remember you
- 0:54it was very short and sweet uh smelty alpine
- 0:57all right oh my god and then i thought that was
- 1:02a fake out and that you guys were actually going
- 1:04to talk about alpine and then then you proceeded
- 1:06to not do that no no joe i have the floor um
- 1:11when When Gasly actually gets a top 10, Alpine
- 1:16actually gets points, I think for the second
- 1:19time this year, and you choose not to talk about
- 1:22Alpine. Where's Alpine and Constructors again?
- 1:24Nah, don't worry about it. They're a solid 11.
- 1:28They're in last by a solid 11 points. Yeah, to
- 1:32be fair, I do think I was going to talk about
- 1:34it, but the moment just kind of overtook you.
- 1:37How funny would it be if I didn't? No, I'm not
- 1:42disappointed at all. Mike, how's it going? Mike's
- 1:47here. I made it. I didn't miss last week. Wearing
- 1:50an Aston hat today. Yeah. I grabbed, like, this
- 1:53morning, I grabbed my Haas shirt and hat, and
- 1:55I was like, you know what? I'm going to grab
- 1:57that. Mercedes engine suppliers. Yep. And you're
- 2:01wearing a Mercedes hat today, Joe. Yeah. I somehow
- 2:05lost all of my McLaren hats. Weird, huh? Yeah,
- 2:09it's crazy. I think they crashed into each other
- 2:11or something. Speaking of hats, before we jump
- 2:13into it, I bought a Williams hat. three months
- 2:16ago it got lost in no transit no and i messaged
- 2:21them and they're like oh yeah it's being held
- 2:22like because it was coming from the uk and they're
- 2:25like it's being held by customs and i was like
- 2:27oh okay so i messaged them two weeks later and
- 2:29like oh yeah it was lost in transit we'll send
- 2:30you a new one so i got another one coming and
- 2:32i think it's actually gotten into the u .s now
- 2:35i'm just waiting for customs though i think so
- 2:37i'll check does it tell you that if you're tracking
- 2:39no it gave me nothing yeah it got stuck in between
- 2:43it'd be nice to know yeah it got stuck in between
- 2:45the person getting it to the u .s and usps usps
- 2:48just kept saying waiting for handoff yeah yeah
- 2:50probably someone's rocking a williams hat i almost
- 2:53i almost bought a new f1 hat today wow i did
- 2:58not i also was looking at a new f1 hat as well
- 3:00i had a package in the mail and i was like this
- 3:02could be my hat but it wasn't so yeah that sucks
- 3:04that's tough did you buy a hat no i was looking
- 3:07at one though yeah i was too and i can't i can't
- 3:09pull myself to pull the trigger yet i'm gonna
- 3:11be straight i kind of just want to get a i kind
- 3:13of want to get a sauber hat no that's what i
- 3:15was looking at i just i just uh something about
- 3:20the light blue mercedes hat first to me i might
- 3:23have to do but or we could all just like pick
- 3:26a few teams each We all pick three teams each,
- 3:31and one of us gets four, and then we get all
- 3:33of the team's hats. I like the idea that Smelty
- 3:35and I both have Sauber hats, and then we both
- 3:38wear them on the same pod, and then we get to
- 3:39make fun of you for not having a Sauber hat.
- 3:42We get to point and laugh. Have you seen Constructor's
- 3:44Standings? I don't think. My team's doing pretty
- 3:47well. My team's are doing. Recently. We should
- 3:50get into it. We should get into it. We should
- 3:51talk about it. Good point. This is supposed to
- 3:53be the intro. Kev. Kev is here. Also, Kev is
- 3:57here. Next week, we will have KevCam. KevCam
- 4:03and KevMike. Not to be confused with Mike's Mike
- 4:08or Mike in general. Canadian GP recap, Kev. Let's
- 4:13just send it. Awesome. Here we are. Is my hat
- 4:25on straight? It is not. Oh, I don't know what's
- 4:28going on. Anyway. It's a hat podcast now. Hat
- 4:30podcast. Hat cast. Canadian GP recap, yes. Pre
- 4:34-race banter. We got the sprint quality practice,
- 4:37yada, yada. All I got for that is George Russell
- 4:41was fast most of the weekend, and he ended up
- 4:43proving that in the GP. Is there anything that
- 4:47is sticking out to you right out of the gate,
- 4:49Joe, with your pre -race notes? Yeah, the biggest
- 4:52thing, mediums were faster for most cars. I think
- 4:58George got his fastest lap on mediums. So it
- 5:01was kind of a toss -up between softs and mediums.
- 5:04McLaren didn't use any mediums at all. Some teams
- 5:07didn't. They just went softs. But Mercedes used
- 5:10a lot of mediums. A couple of other notes. Yuki
- 5:15was given a 10 -place grid penalty for overtaking
- 5:17under red flags in the final practice session.
- 5:21Evolution seemed to be pretty high. Did we get
- 5:24any pit starts? I thought we had... I think we
- 5:27had two pit starts, right? That's what I thought.
- 5:29I can't remember who the two are. It was Lawson
- 5:32and Gasly. I have it written down. Lawson and
- 5:34Gasly started the pit lane. And then Hajar impeded
- 5:39signs. This really rubbed me the wrong way. In
- 5:42Q1, Hajar... signs and signs got knocked out
- 5:50because he was impeded granted we don't know
- 5:52exactly what his lap time would have been but
- 5:54he was on a fast lap when he was impeded that
- 5:57was investigated and he was given a three place
- 6:00grid penalty because of it and that is oh first
- 6:06time this is the first time George has ever taken
- 6:08a pole in a track that he's taken pole previously
- 6:09in so this is his first repeat interesting Where
- 6:13did you find that? No, that was stated, I think,
- 6:15just by dang. That's yeah. I like that. Anyway,
- 6:19you know, as a Mercedes fan, you know, of course,
- 6:22the only one here, obviously. Yeah. Only one
- 6:24that exists anyway. OK. Yes. So did you have
- 6:29anything pre race? I think also Gabby also in
- 6:33similar to Yuki was accused of overtaking under
- 6:36a red flag and Bortoletto. Yeah. Yeah. Gabriel
- 6:40Bortoletto. And I think. uh sauber actually fought
- 6:43that yes and had it repealed and just goes to
- 6:47show how good oliver oaks is at playing the rules
- 6:50no yeah you're right i do remember that yeah
- 6:53so he almost had a 10 place grid penalty as well
- 6:55but yeah that also i like you you jogged my memory
- 6:59so that was all i had for pre -race fair enough
- 7:02fair enough well we won't Waste any more time
- 7:05on pre -race and dig right into the GP, where
- 7:07our starting grid was Russell Verstappen, Piastri,
- 7:11Antonelli, Hamilton, Alonso, Norris, Leclerc,
- 7:16Hedger, and Albon. Some same, some different,
- 7:22right? Finishing 10 is going to be Russell Verstappen,
- 7:25Antonelli, Piastri, Leclerc, Hamilton, Alonso,
- 7:29Hulkenberg, Ocon Seitz. Um, I want to save McLaren
- 7:35for last low key. Uh, we all know our way from
- 7:38bottom to top. Oh, I like that. I like that.
- 7:41So that would probably be racing bowls cause
- 7:44they are absolutely garbage. Um, and I mean,
- 7:48unfortunately all that pre -race stuff that Joe
- 7:51had already mentioned played a massive role in
- 7:53that. Um, I don't know. Liam's Liam, uh, Isaac.
- 7:59better luck next week buddy yeah you know him
- 8:01had car issues so he had to retire and then oh
- 8:04shucks isaac just yeah he just couldn't i think
- 8:07he yeah he's he ended 16th even though he was
- 8:11qualified ninth so not a good race to be fair
- 8:14this is like i think his worst race is melbourne
- 8:18yeah oh yeah i mean like you're due you're due
- 8:21yeah and for like a rookie whatever man Take
- 8:23your lumps. And again, he had the three -place
- 8:26grid penalty, Isaac? Yeah, I mean, again, what
- 8:28are you going to do? You're already starting
- 8:30from behind, essentially, in that. Yeah, that's
- 8:33a good point. Yeah, his starting... Did he get...
- 8:36Was his penalty after that starting grid? Because
- 8:40it says here he started ninth. Did he line up
- 8:45ninth? Oh, you know what? I don't think he did.
- 8:47Let me just check super, super quick. I think
- 8:49I have that wrong. Starting grid, he was... 12th.
- 8:53Okay. So Albon and then who started 10th? Colapinto.
- 8:57Colapinto. Do you think he got points? Didn't
- 9:01end well. Let's see. The only other team to have
- 9:05both drivers finish out of points. We don't need
- 9:10to spend a lot of time on these guys. Alpine.
- 9:14Yep. You know what? I think you're... The commentary
- 9:20on Alpine last week applies, or last episode
- 9:23very much applies to this one. I didn't see a
- 9:27lot. I think they actually, I think Colapinto
- 9:31started 13th, too. Do you still have the starting
- 9:33grid pulled up? Colapinto started, no, he started
- 9:3510th, yeah. Did he? Colapinto? I thought you
- 9:38just said that. Who did I think you just said?
- 9:41Hadjar got pushed down, so it pushed Colapinto
- 9:43to 10th. Yeah, for some reason I thought you
- 9:45said Bortoletto. My names are getting mixed up
- 9:48here. No, he started 15th. Speaking of Colapinto,
- 9:50though, what is your temperature check on Colapinto
- 9:53thus far? Ooh, yeah. This will be his fifth race.
- 9:57That's a great question. Hmm. I mean... And it's
- 10:03supposed to be every five, isn't it? I was about
- 10:04to ask. Do we know how... This is his fifth.
- 10:06This is his fifth. Okay. The one that we just
- 10:08were going to. Yeah, Austria will be his fifth.
- 10:11So, no points yet. No word on if they're switching
- 10:14him after Austria yet. Although there was a little
- 10:16bit of gaslighting coming from, why am I forgetting
- 10:19his name? Flavio? Flavio, yeah. Flavio was gaslighting
- 10:24the press a little bit, saying like, they asked
- 10:27him, they're like, so what's the deal with Colapinto's
- 10:30five race thing? And he goes, I never said he
- 10:33was only going to be in for five races. You guys
- 10:36said that, not me. Yeah, whatever, man. So we'll
- 10:39see if that really goes through or not. I mean,
- 10:42without remembering every single race, right?
- 10:46And just off my memory, which we've learned very
- 10:50quickly that is garbage, considering I got the
- 10:52name wrong a minute after Joe said it. I feel
- 10:57like he's done a better job than Jack doing.
- 10:59But at the same time, as far as I feel like Colapinto's
- 11:05practicing and qualifying has been better than
- 11:08Jack doing. Yeah. But the GP is a similar result,
- 11:12right? I don't know. I would like to see him
- 11:16in for a couple more races. I don't think we'll
- 11:18see Jack. I don't think they'll put Jack Doolin
- 11:20back in the car. No. You know? You don't think
- 11:25so? You think they could? Or are you looking
- 11:28at driver comparison? I'm looking at driver comparison.
- 11:30Neither of them have points. Gasly is 11. i just
- 11:34carrying the team yeah truly but i mean like
- 11:37same goes for you know bordoletto and hulkenberg
- 11:40and right there was and that's it really it's
- 11:44just those three i it's i don't know i think
- 11:48if you keep swapping them out none of them are
- 11:51gonna get good yep right so it's a flawed idea
- 11:55uh You can't expect to put a driver who's never
- 11:59driven at this level before in, and then even
- 12:02though cold bunch of drive to half a season ish,
- 12:04um, and then expect them to you. What I'm trying
- 12:07to say is you need them to be in, in the car
- 12:09so they can get practice in before new regs come
- 12:12next season. And if you keep swapping out five
- 12:14after five, after five, I think it was just maybe
- 12:17it could be, uh, I'm kind of hoping cause I kind
- 12:21of like do I like do hand. Why do you think he
- 12:23had such a short leash? Do you think they just,
- 12:26I think it's just because, They knew they had
- 12:27Colapinto right there. I think so. They saw Colapinto,
- 12:30and they were at least a little bit more impressed,
- 12:32I suppose. It's unfair to Doohan, but it is what
- 12:35it is. Does Doohan get outlandish, right? This
- 12:42is not going to happen. But does Doohan get a
- 12:44Liam Lawson seat at Racing Bulls next year? Oh,
- 12:48there is no seat for them to upgrade to, you
- 12:51know? Well, I'm saying if Lawson gets kicked.
- 12:54oh does he get kicked at the end of this season
- 12:58red bull still has way too many drivers to cycle
- 13:00just ready to come up yeah yeah i don't think
- 13:02they're looking literally at any other team fair
- 13:04enough other than their own yeah uh i was seeing
- 13:08a uh i i saw a different content creator who
- 13:11had talked about the differences between the
- 13:12drivers and he brought up that um neither second
- 13:16driver on alpine have really done anything but
- 13:18uh he did comparisons on qualifyings for the
- 13:22two of them and and how far apart they were qualifying
- 13:25away from each other and he said that um on average
- 13:30colapinto has been uh qualifying typically two
- 13:33places closer than doing So that'll kind of do
- 13:38it. Honestly, if I was them. Yeah, I'm glad I'm
- 13:41not crazy thinking that the practice and then
- 13:43qualifying was better than doing. But I didn't
- 13:46think two whole places. So to your point, Flavio
- 13:48saying what five place thing that five placing
- 13:51could have just been a light letdown for doing.
- 13:53And they just give Cole a pen to the PR. Honestly,
- 13:56and that's like probably the it sucks. Because
- 14:00everyone's going to be like, hey, that's not
- 14:02cool. But it's the smartest play to make is to
- 14:05keep a single driver in and let them learn and
- 14:08grow and get better. I think what they should
- 14:10have done is they should have held Doolin for
- 14:12the first 12 races. And if he just didn't pan
- 14:15out, give him half a season at least. Give him
- 14:18his time to shine. He doesn't pan out. Then you
- 14:20say, look, man, we gave you a crack. We got another
- 14:22guy that we want to give a crack to. They announced
- 14:24they were swapping drivers like race three, right?
- 14:29Yeah. It was early. Yeah, it was super early.
- 14:32Okay. So they didn't say this preseason, though.
- 14:35They said it. They're like, he's not panning
- 14:36out. Yeah. Okay. In fact, Oliver Wheatley, that
- 14:41was the old team principal, right? He was saying
- 14:47he actually was defending. For Alpine? Yeah.
- 14:51I thought it was Wheatley. The one that just
- 14:53left? Yeah. I thought it was Wheatley. No, no,
- 14:55no. Who is it? You'll tell me. It was Oaks. So
- 15:02you said Oaks earlier. I said Oaks was Gabby.
- 15:05That's what set me off when he said Oaks. Maybe
- 15:07Wheatley is the one that went is. current uh
- 15:10team principal at i think that's correct at salver
- 15:13then i think that's correct um stand by joe's
- 15:16typing yeah it is wheatley yeah okay yeah you
- 15:18said okay and i was like but we both went with
- 15:20it though we're both because i was like okay
- 15:22he said it he knows he knows like i didn't want
- 15:25to like both their names are oliver so i got
- 15:27but i heard i heard no there no it's jonathan
- 15:29wheatley oh it's jonathan well i'm just dumb
- 15:32Both their names are Oliver. You've got to put
- 15:33the shovel down sometimes when you're digging
- 15:35the hole. Both their names are Oliver. It's fine.
- 15:38So, Oliver, how do you think? No, yeah, that's
- 15:41fine. Well, nonetheless, yeah. So that Oaks was
- 15:45saying that he was defending the heck out of
- 15:48Dewan before the season and was like, we're not
- 15:50putting Kolopinto in. Kolopinto is our reserve
- 15:52driver. We are driving Dewan. And he was full
- 15:55-on team Dewan. So, and notably. Like, what was
- 16:00it? Two races after Oaks is gone. We have Colapinto.
- 16:02It was the next. I think it was the next race.
- 16:06It might have been. I think it was. It happened
- 16:07very close to it together. He left like midweek
- 16:10and then two days later they announced it. I'm
- 16:12pretty sure. That feels right. Yeah. Actually,
- 16:15it might have been even after. After what? After
- 16:20Colapinto joined. The Oaks thing? Yeah. Because
- 16:23Oaks left in May. Oh, well, then, yeah, maybe.
- 16:27Maybe I'm wrong. I've clearly been around a few
- 16:29times. That's fine. Hold on. Hold on. Sorry.
- 16:34We just got to clear this. Google is our friend
- 16:37today. Starting at the Imola. So when was Imola?
- 16:43May 7th. So it was right before Oaks. Right before
- 16:47Oaks left. Okay. Interesting. I believe. Well,
- 16:52maybe everything was already in the news. He
- 16:54was already thinking he was going to leave. I
- 16:55don't know. I'm not trying to defend Oaks defending
- 16:57Doohan. Yeah, anyhow. Yeah, anyway, what was
- 17:01the point we're getting to here? Because I forgot.
- 17:04I was just talking about Oaks defending Doohan
- 17:07and whatnot. For sure, for sure. Anyway, Alpine,
- 17:10hot garbage at the moment, and dead last in the
- 17:14Constructors, which I did not see coming. I did
- 17:17not see coming, and that is extremely disappointing.
- 17:20Good thing I got one of their hats. Money well
- 17:24spent. We love underdogs. We do. We kind of do,
- 17:27though. That's the thing. So let's see. Let's
- 17:30talk about. i mean williams i guess yeah go with
- 17:35williams you want to go with williams got 10th
- 17:39albon hit us you have it in notes albon hit a
- 17:42sick jump on lap one um he got i think it was
- 17:45with wasn't it against cola pinto where he got
- 17:48pushed a bit and then yeah i think so yeah yeah
- 17:50yeah uh uh yeah he go he goes off he went goes
- 17:54through the grass and then literally gets jumped
- 17:57over and then has to retire later for damage
- 18:00to the car yep um so you know he he did he did
- 18:03start 10th uh he dropped a lot of places luckily
- 18:06signs was able to pick up the pieces and finish
- 18:09in points but that'll suck for albon who didn't
- 18:11have a horrible weekend you know yeah definitely
- 18:14didn't have a horrible weekend definitely not
- 18:15his best weekend we've seen him do better but
- 18:17like uh Yeah, he was in contention for points
- 18:21until that moment, and then, yeah, just damage
- 18:23limitation didn't hold out, unfortunately. Let's
- 18:28just go to Haas. Let's do it. Let's go to Haas.
- 18:31Let's go to Haas. We just did all three of ours
- 18:33right there. Boom, boom, boom. It was a weekend.
- 18:36It was a weekend. I don't even remember. I just
- 18:38have defer to Mike. Yeah, I don't even remember
- 18:41where my team finished. Bearman 11th, Ocon 9th.
- 18:44Ocon 9th. I'm calling him Ocon. Yeah. Esteban.
- 18:48Esteban Ocon. It was fine. I remember, like,
- 18:50seeing Ocon, like, working his way up and was
- 18:53like, oh, okay, he's doing pretty good. But,
- 18:55like, yeah, it was pretty good. A mild weekend.
- 18:58A mild weekend. I mean, we didn't really – I
- 19:01guess we did close in on Williams a little bit,
- 19:03but, like, not really by much at one point. Yeah.
- 19:08Yeah. The difference now being 27. 1 ,000 cuts
- 19:13will get you. Is Haas to Williams is 27? Yes.
- 19:17Still a chunk. Which is almost exactly the amount
- 19:20of points Haas has, so it doesn't bode well.
- 19:22I'm feeling good. I'm feeling lucky. We did talk
- 19:27about Racing Bulls already. Yes, we did. Kick
- 19:30Sauber. Let's just talk about Aston. Wait. Did
- 19:34you just skip over Kick Sauber? He did. Did we
- 19:37not talk about Kickstarter? Oh, we didn't talk
- 19:39about Kickstarter. I was about to say, how dare
- 19:40you? No, you're right. We've just said Bortoletto's
- 19:43names many times, so I thought we talked about
- 19:44them already. Hulkenberg, which I'm very disappointed
- 19:48I missed last episode, because that was just
- 19:50awesome to see. And then follows it up with a
- 19:54P8. Sure, it's not five, but hey, he's still
- 19:57scoring points in Kickstarter right now, and
- 20:00that's kind of fun to watch. Again, making us
- 20:02look at hats today. Yeah, right? I'm super excited.
- 20:06I love Nico Hulkenberg. He's probably one of
- 20:07my favorite drivers. Am I a fan of the gambling
- 20:10company? The gambling racing team? Yes, you are.
- 20:16I'm a fan of Nico Hulkenberg and Gabby Bortoletto.
- 20:20It's pretty cool. It'll be Audi next year. Two
- 20:24years, sorry. Next year. Is it next year? Yeah,
- 20:26next year. I found it's hard to like a team if
- 20:30I don't like the drivers, I've realized. I think
- 20:33I'm more committed to the drivers. That's why
- 20:36he's such a Red Bull fan. He's such a big Max
- 20:39fan. That makes sense. I definitely hate Red
- 20:42Bull less that Yuki's on it. I will say, I give
- 20:44them more sympathy. At least I give him sympathy.
- 20:46You really hated Sergio, huh? Oh man, that's
- 20:49a good point. I don't think I hated... I disliked...
- 20:52I was actually thinking about this the other
- 20:54day. Maybe we talk about this when we get to
- 20:56Red Bulls. There is a point that I'd like to
- 20:58bring up that I had thought about. Are you going
- 20:59to remember it when we get there? Yeah. Yeah,
- 21:01yeah, yeah. We'll do it. Remember that last time
- 21:03was like a thought. What was the segment called?
- 21:06We called it just quick thoughts. Quick thoughts.
- 21:08I'll have a quick thoughts for us. Yeah, yeah.
- 21:09Fair enough. Fair enough. Yeah, yeah. For sure.
- 21:11I got one. It'll be a really quick one. Joe probably
- 21:14knows what it is. Anyway. My quick thought. Anyway.
- 21:18What are we talking about? Ah, Kickstarter, yes.
- 21:20I mean, that's it, really. Yeah, I think we got
- 21:22it. Another great weekend. Gabby kept it on the
- 21:25track. He's been fairly mad. Yeah, he didn't
- 21:27slam into a wall or anybody else, for that matter.
- 21:30It's fine. And then, yeah, Hulkenberg again,
- 21:33kind of having a consistent season, honestly.
- 21:36Driving the heck out of that car, honestly. Do
- 21:39you still have the constructors up? Where is
- 21:41Kicksalber in that right now? So, unfortunately,
- 21:43they were overtaken by Aston Martin in this race,
- 21:47and they are ninth currently. Nine points ahead
- 21:50of Alpine and two points away from Aston. But
- 21:55only two points away from Aston. And then sixth
- 21:58place is at 28 points, right? We say but only
- 22:00two points away. No, I know. I hear you. Unfortunately.
- 22:03But who's in sixth? Sixth is Haas. and they got
- 22:0728 yep yep and then right behind with 28 again
- 22:11is racing bulls yeah but i mean a falcon i don't
- 22:13know i think it's possible i think those bottom
- 22:16teams could get fun i hope alpine can join the
- 22:19party but i'm not gonna hold out hope really
- 22:21good late season uh that's what they do yeah
- 22:24yeah that's true are they gonna are they gonna
- 22:26pay focus on a late season so they can finish
- 22:29Or are they just going to say, screw this year,
- 22:32we're looking at next year? I mean, I think we've
- 22:33determined it's a big money difference, though.
- 22:35And you'd probably want that allocation heading
- 22:38into new regs. I don't know, though. I mean,
- 22:40maybe from 6th to 10th, it's not. Compared to,
- 22:44like, 1st to 5th. They can focus next year and
- 22:47still bring upgrades. They can. It's just means
- 22:50that you're... It's possible that the upgrades
- 22:52they have planned are all ready for the later
- 22:54part of the year anyway. It's true. Yeah, good
- 22:56point. Yeah, fair, fair. It's fair. Uh, Kickstarter.
- 22:59Yes. Uh, yeah. Aston. And then we'll talk about
- 23:03the big four. Um, I mean, Alonzo in points, uh,
- 23:08Alonzo qualified really well again. Yeah. Right.
- 23:11Was he in points the race prior to, yeah. Did
- 23:14he get points? I see. I think he did. He got
- 23:16his first points in. So it was the first point.
- 23:18Yeah. That's right. So points, two races in a
- 23:20row, uh, trending in the right direction for
- 23:22Alonzo stroll. Um, is not now, now, Allegedly,
- 23:29there was going to be a deal. Was it Stroll?
- 23:33I think it was Stroll that allegedly pushed Gasly
- 23:36off the track a little bit. And Gasly started
- 23:38clipping the wall and crap. It was later in the
- 23:41race. Oh, yeah, I remember. But for once, I actually
- 23:44do not blame Stroll for that. I think Gasly was
- 23:46trying to hit a gap that wasn't there, like another
- 23:48driver that we'll talk about in a little bit.
- 23:50That made Joe close his eyes. But, yeah, anyway,
- 23:54Stroll doing their thing. I don't know. I got
- 23:57nothing for Aston. You got an Aston hat on. No,
- 24:00you've hit everything that I want to hit. Like,
- 24:02just what we want to see out of Fernando. Like,
- 24:05he's not getting unlucky. He's not getting screwed
- 24:07over by the car. He's not getting screwed over
- 24:09by strategy. Like, as long as this keeps up,
- 24:12he keeps scoring points. And they're only jump
- 24:15back ahead of kick by only two points. I mean,
- 24:17again, I think this race at the bottom is going
- 24:20to be kind of fun. I think we're going to see
- 24:22a lot of movement between sixth and ninth. I
- 24:27think 10th is locked at the moment. Anyway. Yeah,
- 24:33okay. I had to count the teams. I was like, wait
- 24:36a minute. I know I've been doing this. You're
- 24:37just the top four, I think. Yeah, so let's do.
- 24:41Yeah, Ferrari. That sounds good. Ferrari. You
- 24:46know, people can say what they want about Lewis
- 24:49Hamilton this year, you know. But, man, he's
- 24:52being mad consistent with those mid -top ten
- 24:55points. Somewhere in there. Well, it's more the
- 24:58back half, right? Between six and eight, nine,
- 25:01somewhere in there. He's at least consistently
- 25:04staying there. He's not necessarily gaining any
- 25:07ground. And he even lost a place this race to
- 25:10Leclerc, who started, what, three points, three
- 25:12spots back behind him? Yep. Is that a concern
- 25:17or not really considering Leclerc is probably
- 25:19their quote unquote number one driver? Or do
- 25:21they have one when you bring in a guy like Lewis
- 25:23Hamilton? Have we ever really determined that
- 25:25this year for Ferrari? You know, because we determined
- 25:28that. I hope after seeing his performance in
- 25:30Mercedes, they don't just think he's going to
- 25:32go to Ferrari and everything's going to be like
- 25:33the best thing ever. You know, it's a new car
- 25:35for him. And I think this line of cars is just
- 25:39not suited to his driving style. Ever since we
- 25:41got into ground effects era, they've just been
- 25:43just not great. And yes, he is consistently getting
- 25:49those small points, but he's also consistently
- 25:53saying that he's struggling, that the car and
- 25:55where he is at is not where he needs to be or
- 25:58wants to be. So until he stops saying that, I'm
- 26:01going to think that he's struggling. I'm just
- 26:03going to take his own word for it. Because if
- 26:07Norris was up there, is Hamilton seven then?
- 26:09Probably. You know, if Norris didn't wreck out.
- 26:12Is Lewis finishing seven instead? Probably. Yeah,
- 26:15definitely. You know, are we having the same
- 26:16conversation if he finishes seven? You know,
- 26:19it's like he can't quite take that step, but
- 26:22Leclerc is still doing better, again, in a car
- 26:24that he's been in, right? Yeah. Maybe they're
- 26:26hoping for a more long -term play with Hamilton.
- 26:29Maybe next year he comes out swinging with the
- 26:31new cars. I mean, you got to hope if you're signing
- 26:33a guy like that, right? Yep. Anything else on
- 26:37Ferrari, Mike? No, I got nothing. I didn't even
- 26:40pay attention to him. I got to look this way
- 26:40more. My neck's getting kinked this episode.
- 26:44All right. So, Max Bowles. Max Bowles. Max getting
- 26:51P2. So, okay, okay, wait a minute. So, Max, the
- 26:56early, ah, whatever, whatever. Max getting P2
- 26:59is just going to be what it's going to be, I
- 27:01guess. I thought Mercedes actually could have
- 27:05one -twoed. There was a point where Antonelli
- 27:09was getting close to Max, but I think he used
- 27:12up his tires a bit too much and then started
- 27:13falling. Which is part of that aggressive nature
- 27:15of Antonelli. It's also the rookie nature, I
- 27:19would say, of any driver. It just needs more
- 27:22time to marinate. But I think the bones are there,
- 27:26if you will. You know what I mean? I think the
- 27:29right structure is there. What? You like marinade?
- 27:32Kev likes marinade. Nice. I'm going to let that
- 27:35one marinate. I forgot that's in that show. I
- 27:40used to say that before I knew that show existed.
- 27:45Where were we? Yes, Max Bowls. Yuki, tough race.
- 27:49I mean, yeah, starting off with 10 plays, good
- 27:51penalty. I mean, that's just a non -starter,
- 27:52right? It's going to be tough to recover from,
- 27:54like we talked about racing bowls. So that means
- 27:56three Red Bull cars had grid penalties, right?
- 27:59To start this race? Since they're one team, Joe?
- 28:03Lawson didn't have a grid penalty, though. I
- 28:05thought he did. Lawson started from the pit lane.
- 28:07Oh, pit lane. That's what it is, pit lane. Well,
- 28:09he started from the pit lane because he changed
- 28:10parts on the car in Park Faraday. Yeah, but that's
- 28:13not technically a panel. I guess it's technically
- 28:15not a panel. But, okay, fine. So three Red Bull...
- 28:20Okay, you're getting a little aggressive. No.
- 28:22So three Red Bull cars started with a disadvantage.
- 28:27No. three grade book card yes but you didn't
- 28:30say that i know i know i had to correct myself
- 28:32after i what ruined after i what i'm trying to
- 28:37see how did so we'll open your eyes if you're
- 28:40trying to see sonota did also qualify poorly
- 28:45uh he qualified 11th um I'm trying to see in
- 28:50Lawson qualified 19th. Yeah. So a really bad
- 28:52showing from Hedger was once again, the best
- 28:55second Red Bull driver. So again, begs the question,
- 28:59like we asked about Alpine. No, no, no, no, not
- 29:02about switching, but about more of. Has Yuki
- 29:05been the right decision over Lawson? I think
- 29:08we continue to see that as the right answer.
- 29:09You don't think so? No, he does think so. I thought
- 29:13you were going to hit me with the one. Should
- 29:15Hajar address Yuki? No. I think we're done switching
- 29:20seats for everybody right now. It's obvious.
- 29:23At this point, it should be well obvious. that
- 29:26it's not the driver at the moment, it's the car.
- 29:29I think some of these drivers, especially Gasly,
- 29:31just need to get to summer break, just take a
- 29:33little break, stretch out, and then Alpine's
- 29:36going to come get sixth. But anyway, what are
- 29:39we talking about here? What are we even talking
- 29:41about? You realize this is recorded, right? You
- 29:45realize Kev's got to edit all of that out. We're
- 29:47clipping that. So since we were saving McLaren
- 29:50for last, George Russell. i mean it was just
- 30:00a crazy consistent and good race for russell
- 30:04he didn't make a single mistake he was never
- 30:06under pressure that i know of even at the safety
- 30:09car race no there wasn't a race start yeah he
- 30:11just he just stayed up front and that's that's
- 30:14where he was a little frustrated about and that's
- 30:16that was part of their yes dumb outlandish is
- 30:18what i put yeah we can talk about that russell
- 30:20won this race and at the safety car uh during
- 30:24the safety car he made uh he braked very quickly
- 30:28after the uh yeah yeah he braked fairly quickly
- 30:30while beneath while under while under safety
- 30:34car causing max to almost run into him and also
- 30:38get past him so they called for his his win to
- 30:41be taken away and that was obviously dismissed
- 30:43pretty quickly i think but so that one was dismissed
- 30:46right away and then there's another one that
- 30:47took a few hours that they were trying to say
- 30:49that he did not keep 10 car lengths away from
- 30:54from max uh and he pulled away when they came
- 30:57through the pit the pit lane you know on one
- 30:59of the caution laps oh interesting whatever they
- 31:02come through the lane it's not oh do you mean
- 31:03max did not keep 10 links or not not keep within
- 31:0610 links to russell because i think that's their
- 31:08rule correct but red bull was trying to say that
- 31:11george accelerated too much and he was the reason
- 31:14why the gap was too big which also got shot delta
- 31:17doesn't really matter yeah which also got shot
- 31:20down so he's behind the safety car and within
- 31:23delta it does not total had a great comment about
- 31:26it and i did not put that in there darn it but
- 31:29basically it's just a waste of time like totally
- 31:30i mean it's red bull i honestly i'm not even
- 31:33surprised it's it's any on it i actually don't
- 31:36think any team would do this because it's pretty
- 31:37petty but like but It makes sense that Red Bull
- 31:40would. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm disappointed
- 31:43that the race ended under safety car. Who isn't,
- 31:46right? If there was one lap left, do you think
- 31:51Max could have actually caught George Russell?
- 31:53No. I don't think so either. Russell had it in
- 31:55the bag. Okay, second question. Here we go. Could
- 31:58Kimi have caught Max for safety? Oh, no. No.
- 32:01No. No, I don't think so. So my only argument
- 32:04that Max could have caught George... is nobody
- 32:08on the grid right now is better coming out of
- 32:11a safety car than Max Verstappen, in my opinion.
- 32:13True. So now when he's in first, right, obviously.
- 32:16But I don't know. I would have liked to see it
- 32:19just to know, but I would have been really disappointed
- 32:22if Max won over George Russell because George
- 32:24earned that this weekend straight up. But I would
- 32:27just be curious as to if George was able to get
- 32:31as good of a jump as Max does coming out of a
- 32:34safety car, like he does. He just... Max is a
- 32:38very smart driver. He is. I think Kimmy crashes
- 32:41before he gets ahead of Max. Just too aggressive.
- 32:45Pretty much copy and paste the McLaren kerfuffle.
- 32:49Get into it. Okay, you know what? Let's talk
- 32:53about it. Put your clothes back on. Our Spotify
- 33:00listeners are going to YouTube right now. You
- 33:02asked Max to Russell. kimmy to max yep now we
- 33:07got to talk about norris to piastri if he did
- 33:10not crash would he have caught piastri would
- 33:12he have taken piastri he was he was really pushing
- 33:15charging and before before that happened those
- 33:18two three turns whatever right before it happened
- 33:20he was trying to get him there and then is it
- 33:24the double or the double hairpin or the double
- 33:25actually get him he was he did get him a little
- 33:28bit yeah all the way out and let and let and
- 33:31let he broke early and let oscar i don't think
- 33:34he let oscar do that i think oscar just got a
- 33:36better line because he kind of dive bombed oscar
- 33:39a little bit and therefore had a bad line into
- 33:41the entry right and that's why he had to back
- 33:43out though i don't think he backed i don't think
- 33:44he backed up no i don't think he backed up yeah
- 33:46pull it out let me see your receipts he braked
- 33:50i'm right there too in the video he braked at
- 33:53like what like 140 meters or something like that
- 33:55and like oscar just broke late like you watch
- 33:58him Like, wait, wait, wait, wait. Yeah, that's
- 34:02not what I was leading up to it. This is what
- 34:03I want. Yeah, so this right here. It's not this
- 34:07lap, though, right? It is. Yeah, it's coming.
- 34:11Wait on it. Wait on it. Sorry, viewers. It's
- 34:13not this lap, though, right? We're talking about
- 34:15the same or the lap right after they crashed,
- 34:17right? No, I'm talking about this lap. Because
- 34:20you asked, can Lando take? Oh, yeah. So it's
- 34:23not this lap. Joe is right. Well, it'll do it
- 34:26in a second. Hold on. Oh, yeah, you're right,
- 34:27because here's the new lap. Yeah. Joe knows what
- 34:31he's talking about. So right now, we're just
- 34:33watching the two McLarens go through the first
- 34:36few corners. We're on lap 66 now. We're watching
- 34:38Lando follow quick and then get on the inside
- 34:40of Piastri, kind of cut him off. Piastri gets
- 34:43the switchback and gets alongside Norris and
- 34:47starts pulling ahead of him. This is where Lando
- 34:49backs off. I do not think Lando backs off there.
- 34:51Right here. He comes up heading into this. Piastri
- 34:54might. just have... I think Piaget just has...
- 34:57Oh, you're talking about right there. Lando did
- 35:02not... No, Lando did not back out in that corner
- 35:05there. Lando hit his brakes earlier. Lando braked
- 35:10to that corner where he normally would, while
- 35:12Oscar late broke, and you see that. You can see
- 35:15the DRS is closed. You see Lando's closed, and
- 35:17then half a second later, you watch as Oscar's
- 35:19closed. Oscar just broke later and took an inside
- 35:22line and just... Just had it. We're watching
- 35:25them alongside at the moment. We see Lando. ahead
- 35:30of oscar and then yeah there's really really
- 35:35really fast you're right so okay uh lando can't
- 35:39make the turn with oscar alongside he has to
- 35:42slot in behind him he can't get ahead of him
- 35:44he knows oscar is not going to stop he's no oscar's
- 35:47not going to give him the place so he has to
- 35:49move in behind him and then unfortunately they
- 35:51get onto the starting straight lando's directly
- 35:53behind him he goes for the inside gap that was
- 35:56not there hits piastri's tire hits the wall end
- 35:59of race lando safety car comes out ends on a
- 36:01safety car so to answer your question yes i think
- 36:04lando could have passed really if if that's why
- 36:08i'm 66 that's four more laps four more laps four
- 36:11more laps of fighting if lando was more patient
- 36:14with it he absolutely could have found his opportunity
- 36:16do you think piastri keeps the place or does
- 36:18it get taken no i think i think oscar's keeping
- 36:21it I think it's close. I think they're both so
- 36:25good at fighting, and they were going to keep
- 36:26fighting. That made me nervous, and I wasn't
- 36:28even a McLaren fan. But when that was happening,
- 36:30I was like, oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh. Like, don't
- 36:33take them both out. Yeah, dude. Oh, we are so
- 36:36lucky. I am so lucky. Can you imagine? I was
- 36:39like, and then, yeah. I would have made things
- 36:43a little bit more. More interesting as we get
- 36:46closer to summer break. They wouldn't have changed
- 36:48their standings, but it would have made things
- 36:50a little more interesting. Constructors, it would
- 36:52have made things closer, right? They're running
- 36:54away with it, right? They're running away with
- 36:56it. Constructors as well. They're running away
- 36:57with it, but it would have put the thought in
- 37:00your brain. Sure. Okay, you're a McLaren fan,
- 37:02so I wouldn't know. It would have put a thought
- 37:04in my brain. It puts the driver's championship
- 37:05more in my brain ever than it would the constructor's
- 37:07championship. Which is fair, especially with
- 37:09George winning a race now. Yeah, and Antonelli
- 37:12getting third. Oh, we didn't talk about this.
- 37:14I think just super quick, like we're already
- 37:17on McLaren. I want to jump back to Mercedes for
- 37:18a quick second. Do it up. But McLaren, I think
- 37:22Piastri probably keeps the place. And if he doesn't,
- 37:26I think he gets it back. I mean, he was fighting
- 37:28so hard. Norris does not get Piastri on that
- 37:32starting straight. And if he doesn't get him
- 37:35there, I don't think he gets him anywhere. I
- 37:38think Norris had his had his opportunity on lap
- 37:4266 and just lost it. Plus, Norris is right behind
- 37:45Piastri picking up a ton of dirty air. His tires
- 37:49die before the last lap of the race. Yep. And
- 37:52he just and I think he even he probably I'm even
- 37:54I'll even be so bold to say he gets within he
- 37:58probably loses like five tenths of Piastri by
- 38:00the end of the race. Yeah. Fair enough. I do
- 38:03also want to point out, too, that Oscar was very
- 38:05quickly charging on Kimmy and probably would
- 38:08have caught Kimmy if it weren't for them running
- 38:10into back markers pretty much as soon as Oscar
- 38:13was catching Kimmy because Oscar put himself
- 38:15within DRS to Kimmy again. Oh, yeah, they both
- 38:18had DRS. That's a great point. They had DRS.
- 38:21Granted. I think if Lando didn't crash, them
- 38:25fighting would have lost probably that lead to
- 38:27Kimmy, which means Lando would have had DRS on
- 38:30Piastri through the back straight. Stop playing
- 38:35devil's advocate for yourself. I don't know.
- 38:38It's a hard decision. I think overall, Piastri,
- 38:41I think I agree with you. I think Piastri probably
- 38:43keeps it, but I really wish we would have been
- 38:45able to see the right battle. But I get why it
- 38:49happened, and he immediately took blame. He said,
- 38:51this is all my fault. I shouldn't, you know.
- 38:54Respect. Yeah, for sure. The fact that it came
- 38:56right away, too. Like, he knew he messed up.
- 38:59Like, I should not have done that. Yep, seeing
- 39:01him, he apologized to Piastri as soon as he saw
- 39:03him out in the media pen. He took full responsibility
- 39:07for it, and it was fully his fault. Hey, that's
- 39:09just two of the best racers on the grid right
- 39:11now going at it. Exactly. But, again, that's
- 39:14the inevitable. Finally, it's happened. The inevitable
- 39:17has finally happened that I've been on about
- 39:20now. Don't get me wrong. I don't think this is
- 39:23going to be at. No, you guys are trying to shoot
- 39:26me down earlier in the season. What? Yeah. No,
- 39:29it's not going to happen. They got a clear number.
- 39:32That they weren't going to fight like that. No,
- 39:34no, no, no, no. Maybe. I knew they were going
- 39:38to fight. I knew they were going to come together
- 39:39and crash at some point. I would say we all knew
- 39:41that this was inevitable. They were eventually
- 39:44going to clash. I think very early in the season,
- 39:45I probably wouldn't have thought that simply
- 39:48because of the orders that were taken last season.
- 39:50I didn't expect Piaget to be competing so hard.
- 39:53Enough said. You didn't expect him to come out
- 39:56the gate winning races? Yes, exactly. I didn't.
- 39:58So now that he is, I mean, begs the question,
- 40:02like... Were team orders needed there? I'm personally
- 40:05happy that they weren't given. They were silent.
- 40:08What do they do after? Do they start enforcing
- 40:13more team orders or do they just keep letting
- 40:14them fight? I'm with Mike. I think they let them
- 40:16fight because I don't think this is actually
- 40:18going to happen again. Now that we've seen it,
- 40:19I don't... I don't feel like I did beforehand
- 40:22now. You know what I mean? It's changed for me.
- 40:24Now that it has happened, one of them didn't
- 40:27finish the race. I think if they both don't finish
- 40:28the race, it's a little bit different feel to
- 40:31me. But at least one finished the race. This
- 40:33isn't a freaking Max Verstappen and Danny Ricardo
- 40:37situation by any means. You know what I mean?
- 40:41But I think now that it's happened, now I think
- 40:44they're both. I don't know. I just feel like
- 40:45they're going to have a little bit more. space
- 40:48around them which could be a negative thing yeah
- 40:50you know they might be more timid around each
- 40:53other now i don't know i think i don't think
- 40:55piastri's shaken at all about this because i
- 40:57think norse i could see norse's and i'm seeing
- 41:02this a lot on like socials norse's confidence
- 41:04could probably be a little shaken um i'm hoping
- 41:07it doesn't affect his race pace but if he gets
- 41:09close he just has to he just has to i mean he
- 41:12has to go at it a different way i guess right
- 41:15I'm actually hoping he it would probably be best
- 41:18if nothing changes and he just makes better decisions.
- 41:21Right. But, you know, what are you going to do?
- 41:23Yeah. I don't know. I don't I don't think they'll
- 41:27knock each other out. But I hope so. That's me.
- 41:30You hope they do. I hope they don't. No, I'm
- 41:31just kidding. Calm call out. Oh, sorry. Quick
- 41:36touch. Touch on Mercedes. Just want to kind of
- 41:38gauge. Do they carry this momentum or is this
- 41:41just the track that suited them? Well, just a
- 41:43track. I mean, it's not like they've been trash
- 41:46all year. That's my only thing. That'd be my
- 41:48only argument is that George Russell has had
- 41:51some podiums this year. Yes, but this is Antonelli's
- 41:58first, and it's their first double podium. I
- 42:01don't think they can double podium again. I think
- 42:05that might be the track, but I think George Russell
- 42:07being P5 or better is what we've seen all year.
- 42:11He's competing. I think Kimi's gotten better
- 42:14throughout the season. Can Kimi continue to battle
- 42:18or beat the likes of Piastri and Lando Norris?
- 42:21No way. But do I think Kimi can compete and beat
- 42:24Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton right now?
- 42:26Yeah. I think he can carry that momentum and
- 42:29compete with the Ferraris. I feel like a lot
- 42:31of people have a lot of recency bias because
- 42:33of this finish. And Mercedes has come out and...
- 42:37They were saying going into Canada that they
- 42:39felt really strong about this. Canada is a good
- 42:41track for them. And their biggest strength right
- 42:43now is in cool track climates. And when the track
- 42:47gets hot, they struggle with their tires. So
- 42:50the reason why they were so strong here is because
- 42:51they're really good in colder environments. So
- 42:54I think as we move to warmer tracks, we're going
- 42:57to see them struggle more. I think we'll see
- 43:01a couple more good races out of them, particularly
- 43:04some of the cooler tracks. But outside of those
- 43:07colder tracks, I think we might see them doing
- 43:10what they've been doing. Maybe another couple
- 43:12podiums, but I wouldn't expect too much more.
- 43:14Do you think they can double podium again? No.
- 43:16Yeah, I don't think so either. But I do think
- 43:18Antonelli, even from the start of the season,
- 43:21he's been aggressive all year, and he's been
- 43:23learning the ins and outs and whatever. I'm no
- 43:26F1 driver. I don't know what that learning curve
- 43:29is. But I think we've seen enough that Antonelli
- 43:33could even podium without George Russell or something.
- 43:36You know, that I could see happening. I think
- 43:39it'd have to be a very specific situation, like
- 43:42probably a cold air track, you know. But because
- 43:46you're totally, you hit the nail on the head
- 43:47on that one. Mercedes is absolutely a cold track
- 43:50race car. Anyway. I think they can carry some
- 43:56momentum, to answer your question. But I don't
- 43:58see another double podium. I could see another
- 44:01George Russell win, though. Okay. I'm going to
- 44:05have to take him in the picks someday soon to
- 44:09win. Soon, even? It won't be this week. I can
- 44:12spoil that. I'm probably going to pick him at
- 44:14some point later in the season. At least to podium
- 44:16or to win? To win. I've got my eyes on a track
- 44:20later in the season. You'll figure it out. Get
- 44:23off my back. Did I nail it? Did I nail it? I
- 44:28think I nailed it. Calm call -outs. I got two
- 44:32calm call -outs. Lap 21, Albon states, I don't
- 44:36really know why we don't listen to me. It really
- 44:38annoys me. Later that lap, his engineer asks
- 44:42him to box now and Albon replies, no, don't box
- 44:45now. Don't box now. Yep. Uh, so frustrations
- 44:49between what he believes is the right call and
- 44:51what I think actually was the right call. I don't
- 44:54think he made the right call staying out, unfortunately.
- 44:56Um, and then obviously he retires the car. I'll
- 44:58just trust your team a little bit. Yep. Lap 32,
- 45:01uh, Fernando's engineers, uh, tell some gentle
- 45:04turns three and eight. Fernando replies with,
- 45:06we are racing, not testing. I loved that one
- 45:08too. Oh yeah. That was a great answer. That was
- 45:11a great answer. Uh, that's all the call outs
- 45:13I got though. Yeah. I knew there wasn't many.
- 45:15I do remember both of those. That Alonzo one,
- 45:17that was awesome. That was definitely an Alonzo
- 45:20thing. What's your quick thought, Joe? Okay.
- 45:24You said something about Red Bull. Yes. I was
- 45:29thinking about this the other day. I was really
- 45:31hard on Checo last year. I think a lot of people
- 45:34were. Everybody was. Because he was not competing
- 45:36with Max even a little bit, consistently getting
- 45:38below top 10. And now we're seeing that it's
- 45:40the car's fault. Or are we dumb for trying to
- 45:44compare so many different people, drivers, to
- 45:46Max Verstappen? I don't think I could ever compare.
- 45:51Well, I mean, it's hard to say because he was
- 45:54right behind Max. for some of his others a number
- 45:58of times and then just and then he just like
- 46:00all of a sudden he fell below 10th i think now
- 46:03that we're seeing lawson didn't get anywhere
- 46:06close to max like anywhere yuki's not getting
- 46:09anywhere close to max where we know we and then
- 46:12max is even struggling with his own car we can
- 46:15guess that these issues probably stemmed a little
- 46:17bit from last season probably not as widely as
- 46:20this season because max is struggling so much
- 46:21too um but i think it changed it changed something
- 46:26in me after realizing that's like why it was
- 46:28probably a little hard on checo he had a hard
- 46:30car to drive um and i think his letting i let
- 46:35his tenure of being a race car driver and being
- 46:38red bull kind of get in the way of just the cars
- 46:40meant for max verstappen maybe and he's not max
- 46:43verstappen um that being said i think that so
- 46:47i just kind of i guess i guess here we go wanted
- 46:49your thoughts maybe on if checko really deserved
- 46:54to be kicked off red bull at the time like if
- 46:57they know what they know now if they knew what
- 46:59they know now if they knew that the car was flawed
- 47:01do they still kick checko off i hate hindsight
- 47:04questions like that because it's like well yeah
- 47:07of course right but i mean checko's coming back
- 47:10to f1 no he's not yes he is you know i'm actually
- 47:13i'm actually on board i don't think he's coming
- 47:14back that's changed that has changed you're like
- 47:18oh he could yeah you're alone that's all right
- 47:24i'm alone i don't think he's coming back i think
- 47:29like i heard that his father was making remarks
- 47:32like somebody was talking to his father and his
- 47:34father was making remarks saying that chaco's
- 47:36done he's not going he has no intent to go back
- 47:39to f1 at racing at all though maybe I don't know
- 47:42about racing at all. His father just said he
- 47:44has no intent to go back to Formula 1. He should
- 47:45come to IndyCar. Checo's going into politics.
- 47:49Checo for FIA president? We'll see. We still
- 47:51don't know who the two... We still don't know
- 47:54who the two drivers are for Cadillac yet. The
- 47:57Mexican Minister of Defense becomes the president?
- 48:01Okay, so that was your quick thought. That was
- 48:03my quick thought. Do you have a quick thought?
- 48:06No. I don't have very many. He doesn't have thoughts
- 48:09in general. Correct. My quick thought came pre
- 48:12-pod. All pirates are Irish. Oh, my God. No,
- 48:17we're not bringing this back up. Kev, let's head
- 48:20right into our news. All right, we got some news
- 48:39for you. Mike actually brought us this news about
- 48:42the Irish driver in FP1. Oh, yeah, I can bring
- 48:45that up. Oh, that's probably why the Irish...
- 48:46Oh, we kind of did start going nice. Holy cow,
- 48:49I didn't think you were doing something with
- 48:50that. Me either. Yeah, so coming up in FP1, driving
- 48:56for Lando Norris in Austria this season, Alex
- 49:01Dunn. A driver from the McLaren Academy will
- 49:05be driving. And he is the first Irish driver
- 49:08to drive a Formula One car in 43 years. So, very
- 49:13exciting. The first Irish driver that I know
- 49:16of. So, I don't know. Same. He's also worth noting
- 49:19the driver who caused a massive pileup in F2.
- 49:22I should bring up. At Monaco. But he is also
- 49:25worth noting currently winning the F2 championship.
- 49:27So, he's pretty fast. Yeah, I mean. mclaren's
- 49:33not really strapped for drivers at the moment
- 49:35unfortunately uh so he he'd be a good uh reserve
- 49:39cadillac but mayhap cadillac yeah mayhap mick
- 49:42schumacher hey mayhap yeah you can't just say
- 49:47perchance you know you said that he was responsible
- 49:51for the crash and f2 at monaco but so was k megan
- 49:55he's a legend so For different reasons. I'm just
- 49:59kidding. I'm just kidding. All right. What's
- 50:01this Botas thing? Oh, yeah. Oh, my gosh. Yeah.
- 50:04This is amazing. Botas made a short video the
- 50:08other day where him and someone else who was
- 50:11videotaping him went up to a Cadillac. They're
- 50:14like, oh, this is a nice car. This is a nice
- 50:15car. And they're like, oh, look, the seat's open.
- 50:17And they looked it up. They opened up the car.
- 50:19And he's like, oh, yeah, this is nice. The seat's
- 50:21really nice here. It's like, oh, but look, there's
- 50:23two seats open. He's like, oh, look at the passengers.
- 50:26Were you going to get in? And then he looked
- 50:28at the camera and he said, not yet. Is that his
- 50:33video to Cadillac to put him in the car? I think
- 50:36what's funny is that there are a lot of people
- 50:39like, oh my God, he's soft launching his entry
- 50:41into Cadillac. And I was like, no, he's 100 %
- 50:43trolling us. He's 100%. I think he would take
- 50:46the opportunity to drive for them. You got the
- 50:50mullet man and then you got Checo to get the
- 50:52Mexico support. You got mullet man that's somehow
- 50:56going to get the American support. Our American
- 50:58-Australian. Where is he actually from? Norway?
- 51:02Finland? Finland, yeah. No, he's Finnish. Our
- 51:05American -Australian Finnish guy. Yeah, our American
- 51:09-Australian Finnish guy. That's the guy. Valtteri,
- 51:11you know him? Yeah, he's Finnish. So, anyway.
- 51:16Counterpoint. I'm now along the lines of there's
- 51:21been a lot of talk that the second they'll probably
- 51:22take a veteran driver, somebody hopefully like
- 51:24Valtteri Bottas and the other driver will be
- 51:26a rookie. And there's a lot of talk about Felipe
- 51:28Drogovic. OK, yeah, because he's doing nothing
- 51:32in Aston. So why would he just sit there? He
- 51:35could go actually driving on the sidelines for
- 51:37a while, too. Yes. So, Joe, that just leads me
- 51:41to ask you, then, do you think this is the end
- 51:43of Mick Schumacher? Mick Schumacher is steadily
- 51:47racing in other things at the moment. That's
- 51:48what I mean. I do not think he's racing for Alpine
- 51:51in sports car at the moment. He raced in Le Mans.
- 51:54Finished top 10 in Le Mans. He did, which is,
- 51:56I mean, yeah, top 10 is fine. I mean, his car
- 51:59finished. To be fair, he finished in Le Mans
- 52:02last year. Both Alpines were out fairly quickly.
- 52:04So, yeah, it's decent. And, hey, you know what?
- 52:08Alpine is actually doing stuff. Everywhere but
- 52:12F1. Everywhere but F1. Mick Schumacher for Kalapinto?
- 52:17Oh, my God. There were also people that were,
- 52:19like, people noticed that, like, some Cadillac.
- 52:25like soiree that happened a little while back
- 52:26mick schumacher was there and people were like
- 52:29could this maybe be a thing and i'm just like
- 52:31come on guys quit that's what we should turn
- 52:34into signed up with yeah i mean like the weird
- 52:37like toto and alpine reno relationship i think
- 52:40helped him get that alpine gig a little bit maybe
- 52:43but like yeah he's he's driving there f1 i mean
- 52:46f1 drivers find success in sports car like you
- 52:48know right now did uh uh jensen button right
- 52:53uh he he actually qualified like i think like
- 52:55first or third in le mans in a cadillac uh this
- 52:59last these last few weekends ago so actually
- 53:01same same uh weekend as the canada gp so oh yeah
- 53:05they're they're doing stuff all right all right
- 53:08uh what's up no nothing just saying all right
- 53:11all right all right all right cool all right
- 53:13cool okay uh montreal race extended through 2035
- 53:17so we're gonna get more canada yay Okay. Vowels
- 53:23signs a long -term deal to stay with Williams.
- 53:27How do you feel about that, Joe? I think it's
- 53:29a great idea. Yeah. I mean, his whole deal has
- 53:33been Williams for the future, getting drivers
- 53:36that are going to stick around and build Williams
- 53:38up. If he wants to do that, he needs to be on
- 53:41the team for a while. So I think it's absolutely
- 53:43the call. I mean, there was no doubt. And both
- 53:46drivers are signed through next year, right?
- 53:49yeah through yeah yeah i've heard talk about
- 53:52both drivers having at least two plus one deals
- 53:54okay yeah they at least are they at least the
- 53:57hundred percent at least are starting next year
- 53:59oh is albon maybe not albon actually hold on
- 54:04I'm fairly certain Albon's got a long deal. I
- 54:06feel like with all the seat movement we had this
- 54:07year, you wouldn't sign a driver not through
- 54:09new regs. You know what I mean? Albon has a contract
- 54:14through 2027. There is someone on the grid that
- 54:18ends this year. George Russell. Russell, that's
- 54:21the one. He's not going anywhere. They have not
- 54:24signed his contract. Neither have they, Kimmy,
- 54:26either. God, I'm so tired of seeing all the tabloids.
- 54:30Could Max be going to Mercedes? Why they haven't
- 54:33signed. Max gets his final penalty penalty point.
- 54:37That'll trigger the contract loophole that he'll
- 54:39get to. Yeah. It's like, he's not going anywhere
- 54:43and neither is George. I don't think every time
- 54:46I see it, I'm like, shut up. Okay. But kind of
- 54:49like, kind of a fun thought, a scary thought,
- 54:51but like, here we go. What if they're right?
- 54:53And like, and what if mix? What if, what if mattress
- 54:56tapping is like, I don't want to be a part of
- 54:58the scummy team anymore. And then. They give
- 55:02Kimmy's spot to Max. How crazy would that be?
- 55:06I don't think Max is going to. No, I don't. I'm
- 55:09just saying what if, you know. It'd be awful.
- 55:12There's no way they would. Max and George don't
- 55:15get along. They can't drive together. That's
- 55:17a really good point. Ocon and Gasly didn't get
- 55:20along. Yeah, look how that went for them. It
- 55:22didn't go well. I think we sooner see Max go
- 55:26to Aston. I don't think Ocon gets along with
- 55:28a lot of drivers, though, unfortunately. He's
- 55:30getting along well with all these. I suppose,
- 55:32yeah. Esteban has actually been super happy at
- 55:35Haas. How many bad situations can you say that
- 55:40he's been in? How many headlines has he made
- 55:42since he's moved to Haas? He's been pretty consistently
- 55:44okay. He's chilling. He's living his best life
- 55:47right now. It's best for him. With that, Kev,
- 55:52I think we've got to head now into our Austria
- 55:55preview. all right now i'm here to bring you
- 56:10up to speed for the formula one msc cruises austrian
- 56:14grand prix 2025 per usual Fun fact, Niki Lauda
- 56:20is the only Austrian to win his home race, and
- 56:23this track has the fewest corners on the F1 calendar.
- 56:26Looking back to last year, our starting three
- 56:31were Max, Tolando, to George. Off the line, and
- 56:35Max gets an expert start, planting himself firmly
- 56:37in first, heading ahead of Lando and George,
- 56:40who start fighting up the hill with Lewis and
- 56:42Carlos behind. Through the second DRS straight,
- 56:45Piastri and Checo fight for position and go through
- 56:47the corner, Checo not giving any room to Piastri,
- 56:49who has to retreat into the gravel behind the
- 56:51Red Bull. Now fending off the Ferrari of Leclerc,
- 56:54who at the starting line picked up some damage
- 56:56in a close call with Piastri. He pits for a new
- 56:59wing a lap later. Hamilton starts making some
- 57:02time and gets an overtake on his teammate for
- 57:04third on the third lap of the race. With the
- 57:06help of the DRS on the second straight, Russell's
- 57:08able to make his place back with a super clean
- 57:10overtake before the wide corner. After a radio
- 57:13message from Bono, Hamilton is told to give position
- 57:15back to Sainz for an infringement made on lap
- 57:17one. He starts fighting Sainz for position only
- 57:20a couple laps later. At the same time, just behind,
- 57:22Piastri attacks Checo for a spot back and makes
- 57:25an incredible overtake on the outside of turn
- 57:27six for sixth position. On lap 20, we watch Joe
- 57:31get hit from behind at the corner above the hill
- 57:33from Alonzo, locking up and running into the
- 57:35side of him. Alonzo picks up a 10 -second penalty.
- 57:38Up through lap 36, we watch a pair of Alpines
- 57:40fight each other as they get held up from Alonzo
- 57:42ahead. Ocon finally manages to overtake Alonzo,
- 57:45and in the lap after, Gasly makes a move ahead
- 57:47of Alonzo and in competition with Ocon. Through
- 57:49the top hill corner, they fight and push one
- 57:51another off track, Ocon keeping Gasly behind.
- 57:54This isn't the end of their squabble as we watch
- 57:56this fight continue through lap 41, Gasly finally
- 57:59making... The moves stick on his teammate. A
- 58:01slow pit stop from Verstappen and an uncharistic
- 58:04lockup at turn four finds Norse closing the gap
- 58:07to first place quickly on lap 52. Lap 55, the
- 58:11fight begins with Lando taking some looks at
- 58:13overtakes on Max at the top of the hill. He keeps
- 58:17the position behind Max for another four laps
- 58:19until he makes the overtake up the hill at the
- 58:21same corner. However, it does so off track, Max
- 58:24leaving him no space whatsoever, having him give
- 58:26it back to his rival at the end of the straight.
- 58:28On lap 63, a similar move is made. by lando this
- 58:31time keeping it on track but locking up slightly
- 58:34forcing max to take a line off track lando is
- 58:36ahead for a moment but max speeds ahead from
- 58:38him track speeds ahead from off track rather
- 58:41back in the first place max doesn't give the
- 58:44place and instead on the very next lap they go
- 58:46wheel to wheel up the hill once more this time
- 58:48making contact with one another lando's back
- 58:51right collides with max's back left immediately
- 58:53puncturing it and picking up wing damage to his
- 58:56own car as well they both need to pit giving
- 58:58russell the opportunity at a win 15 seconds behind.
- 59:02Norris pits to retire and Verstappen is able
- 59:04to pit and only drops down to fifth. All the
- 59:06while, with 65 laps left, Piastri starts to fight
- 59:08Carlos for the second podium position. Piastri
- 59:11makes a similar outside overtake on Sainz as
- 59:13he did on Checo, taking second position from
- 59:15the Spaniard. Russell, he who falls into the
- 59:18podium positions, takes the lines for first place,
- 59:21followed by Piastri and Sainz completing the
- 59:23podium. Our finals, Russell, Piastri, Sainz,
- 59:26Hamilton, Verstappen, Hulkenberg, Perez, Magnussen,
- 59:29Ricard. and ghastly hulkenberg and magnuson in
- 59:32the top 10 yeah that was uh that was like if
- 59:40i remember correctly that was like uh what do
- 59:43they call it like the first shot between like
- 59:45max and and and lando that was like our first
- 59:48like look into them fighting and it was ugly
- 59:52it was so ugly we watched that race together
- 59:54and i remember you saying like as they were getting
- 59:57close and they were fighting you were like i'm
- 59:58starting to get that sick feeling again like
- 1:00:00three corners later they hit and you were just
- 1:00:03quiet i was like joe are you okay this is also
- 1:00:08i also remember this being the race where they
- 1:00:10showed the mclaren car and they looked at the
- 1:00:11wing and there was a little spike at the end
- 1:00:13of the wing of the mclaren car and i was like
- 1:00:15yeah you don't want to get close to that or you'll
- 1:00:16pick up a puncture and lo and behold uh it was
- 1:00:20A messy, messy end of the race for McLaren and
- 1:00:23Red Bull, specifically Max and Lando. Messy,
- 1:00:25messy, messy. Oh, my gosh. That was a good callback.
- 1:00:30Completely unrelated to what we're talking about,
- 1:00:32but a good callback. So that was Austria. How
- 1:00:35do you guys like this track? I love this track.
- 1:00:37This is a fun track. It's a fun one to race.
- 1:00:38It's like a very simple track, but it's fun,
- 1:00:40I think. Yeah. I mean, we get, what, three DRS
- 1:00:45zones? And it's like, yeah, starting straight.
- 1:00:48up the hill and then the turn right after and
- 1:00:51then yeah down and then they repeat it literally
- 1:00:53like 20 seconds later yeah all right because
- 1:00:56at that point you're just doing sector three
- 1:00:58and you're done you're almost i would say for
- 1:00:59half the lap you might be in the drs yes actually
- 1:01:02yeah it is pretty fun it's it's really fast yes
- 1:01:05it's so fast very fast yep uh we also uh historically
- 1:01:10have seen a lot of um track violations yes um
- 1:01:14because of that that final turn yeah yep that
- 1:01:17final turn and also last year we saw a lot of
- 1:01:20people at the end of turn six going on the inside
- 1:01:24before they get close to the pit straight there's
- 1:01:26a gravel trap there now too to stop people from
- 1:01:29going wide because that was also an issue a year
- 1:01:31beforehand so i'm looking forward to this race
- 1:01:33it should be a fun one it'll be a fun one so
- 1:01:37fair enough um what do you think smelty what
- 1:01:40do you think He's busy looking up analytics right
- 1:01:43now. He's sitting here looking over everything.
- 1:01:47Everything, yeah. I'm looking at everything right
- 1:01:49now. Man didn't prep beforehand. Not for predictions,
- 1:01:53absolutely not. Zero preparation. I am in my
- 1:01:56mind palace. Yeah, actually, I'm not supposed
- 1:02:00to go first anyway. Oh, actually, I do. Smelty.
- 1:02:04I had a good week. He's back into the lead. He
- 1:02:05had a very good week. I had a good week again.
- 1:02:08Somehow, I just don't know how he does it. You
- 1:02:10know what it was? He can't keep getting away
- 1:02:12with it. Truly. George was on my podium. Yep.
- 1:02:15And I had Max at second, so I got the bonus point
- 1:02:19for that. So you're going to do it again? No.
- 1:02:22Put George on your podium. No, no. I'm actually
- 1:02:24a little bit concerned. George won here last
- 1:02:26year. He's trying to tie me into it. You hear
- 1:02:28that? You should do it. Last year. Do it. Back
- 1:02:32-to -back wins, baby. You were saying you're
- 1:02:39going to pick George very soon. That's true.
- 1:02:42That was true. A quote from one Tyler Smelty.
- 1:02:46I think... Oh, man. Tough. Tough cookies here.
- 1:02:56Wait, who did I say was going to be soon? George.
- 1:03:00Oh. Yeah, I did say soon. Yeah. Yeah. So it's
- 1:03:06gaslighting us. No, I didn't. I did it. Crazy.
- 1:03:10I'd be like, man, this guy really is an Alpine
- 1:03:11fan. Delusional. Oh, man, I don't want to do
- 1:03:18it, but do it. It's going to be Max Landau George.
- 1:03:26Max Lando George. He did it. He did it. He put
- 1:03:29George on the podium. That's awesome. I really
- 1:03:32want to put Oscar up there, though. I think both
- 1:03:34McLarens absolutely could be double podium this
- 1:03:36week. I think we are. Get back to what they know.
- 1:03:40Yeah. So do you want to do the same thing we
- 1:03:41did last week and try saying our stuff at the
- 1:03:43same time? Oh, man. Ooh, yes. Are we tied? We
- 1:03:46are. Oh, yep. You have to say it at the same
- 1:03:48time. I hate it here. It makes sense. Them's
- 1:03:49the rules. Them's the rules. Those are the rules
- 1:03:52that I made up just now. Go, go, go. Do you want
- 1:03:54to start third? Sure. Do you have it in mind?
- 1:03:56Yep. All right. Three, two, one. Max Verstappen.
- 1:04:01You put Lando in third? I did. I'm shocked. I
- 1:04:05thought for sure you were going to put Lando
- 1:04:07on first with how fast he was. This is one of
- 1:04:10Lando's best tracks. I think we're going to have
- 1:04:12the same podium again, except different orders.
- 1:04:15You ready for second? Yeah. Three, two, one.
- 1:04:19Max. And then you're both taking Oscar to win.
- 1:04:23Oscar first. And then Oscar first. So we've got
- 1:04:27that out of the way. One quick thing. One reason.
- 1:04:29You're crazy putting George on your podium. I
- 1:04:31know. I know. I know. You heard me say earlier
- 1:04:35that they're super fast in cold tracks and super
- 1:04:39bad on hot tracks. And I saw you looking at the
- 1:04:42weather. You know it's supposed to be in the
- 1:04:4580s. It's cold leading up until race day. It's
- 1:04:47supposed to be like 85 degrees, which is like
- 1:04:5130 degrees Celsius. I'm seeing 78. But I did
- 1:04:56see 86 on another one, though. So who knows,
- 1:05:00right? We're doing this. From the U .S., and
- 1:05:03these are all probably correct. Did you give
- 1:05:04your prediction knowing that? I looked at it.
- 1:05:07Or did you look after saying your prediction?
- 1:05:08No, he looked at it beforehand. This whole time,
- 1:05:10all the end of your up to speed, I'm sitting
- 1:05:12here looking at the track and the turns and just,
- 1:05:14like, re -familiarizing myself with Austria.
- 1:05:17Like, oh, yeah, Red Bull Ring. Okay. I love that
- 1:05:18track. And then, you know, looking at the temps,
- 1:05:21temps of practice, weather of practice. Are they
- 1:05:24going to get good practice in or not? You know,
- 1:05:27qualifying. I think. I think you're going to
- 1:05:32be lucky if you see George in the top five. Ooh.
- 1:05:35Lucky if we see George in the top five. I frankly
- 1:05:37was fighting between Max and Charles Leclerc
- 1:05:41for a third. Oh. And picked Max because it's
- 1:05:45Red Bull Ring. It is so good on this track. I
- 1:05:48think the biggest defining factor is the power
- 1:05:51unit, but also just Max is good on this track.
- 1:05:54They're both good on this track. When in doubt,
- 1:05:59just pick Max Verstappen. Can Yuki climb into
- 1:06:03points this race? Yeah, I think Yuki will get
- 1:06:06points. I would put Yuki no higher than ninth,
- 1:06:09but I think Yuki gets points this weekend. Fair
- 1:06:11enough. I'm just curious. And maybe Nico Hulkenberg
- 1:06:15in the points hole? I was going to say it, but
- 1:06:18I mean, hey. Probably not. Dude, if Hulkenberg
- 1:06:22wins a race this season, I will buy a sour shit.
- 1:06:26Wait, I'm sorry. If Nico Hulkenberg wins a race.
- 1:06:29We're going to win a race. Stakes are low. You
- 1:06:31got to do something. If Hulkenberg wins, I'm
- 1:06:34going to buy a shirt. Stakes are so low. Who
- 1:06:39else is buying a shirt at this table? Nobody.
- 1:06:41Me. You're going to buy one? Yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 1:06:45You got to get the whole suit. That's right.
- 1:06:47Get the whole set. Let's remember how crazy you
- 1:06:50are to say that. Nico Hulkenberg currently holds
- 1:06:52the record for most race finishes having never
- 1:06:55been on a podium. Hey, you never know. Okay,
- 1:06:58but race finishes is... Okay, I mean... Yeah,
- 1:07:00most race finishes for never having been on a
- 1:07:02podium. I don't know about you guys, but it sounds
- 1:07:04like I'm saving money on not buying a shirt then.
- 1:07:06I don't know what the argument is here. Anyway.
- 1:07:12Yeah, I mean, that's the thing. That's the show.
- 1:07:16That's the show. That is the show. Next week,
- 1:07:20we do have another one. Oh, we got back -to -back
- 1:07:23racing. Really? I thought there was a week between
- 1:07:25Austria and... There's a race next week. It's
- 1:07:28Britain after this. During July 4th weekend for
- 1:07:31the US. Oh, man. They are in... Oh, yeah, you're
- 1:07:36right. Yeah, there's a weekend between. So we...
- 1:07:38No, no, no. They race next weekend. Do they?
- 1:07:41It's July 6th. Oh, they do. Oh, well, you know
- 1:07:43what? I'm wrong about things sometimes. Ooh.
- 1:07:45Yeah. Sometimes. So, 9 a .m. race. Oh, man. And
- 1:07:49it's the 4th of July weekend. Sick. Oof. That's
- 1:07:53going to be a rough one to watch, but that's
- 1:07:55only 9 a .m. We'll be okay. We'll see. I just
- 1:07:58got to look up something really quick. I'm just
- 1:08:00curious. Yeah, so. Oh, yeah. I already have my
- 1:08:03podium figured out for Silverstone. What is it?
- 1:08:05I've got a pretty good idea of what I'm going
- 1:08:07to do as well. I think you guys can probably
- 1:08:08guess what I'm going to do. I need to wait and
- 1:08:10see. Ooh. He's picking all of the British drivers.
- 1:08:15Just straight down the line. Yep. You're not.
- 1:08:20i mean i'll just say you're not wrong it's gonna
- 1:08:22be lando lewis george it's gonna be lando george
- 1:08:26lewis probably whoa you're still gonna put i
- 1:08:28mean i i will not i think i think lewis could
- 1:08:31come back in his home race that would be so cool
- 1:08:34i think this is gonna be the first year we see
- 1:08:35a fully british podium at the british grand prix
- 1:08:38i would love to see that I really would. We're
- 1:08:41not going to. A full British program? Everyone's
- 1:08:43been around for a long time. We're not going
- 1:08:45to. We're not going to see it this next weekend.
- 1:08:47No, I agree. We're not going to. I don't think
- 1:08:48Lewis sniffs the podium. I would agree with that.
- 1:08:51I would agree with that, unfortunately. As good
- 1:08:54as his history is at that track, it's not going
- 1:08:58to happen. Okay, you're right. I've been wrong.
- 1:09:00I've been wrong. It's not I've been wrong. I
- 1:09:02am wrong. I've been wrong for a while. This track's
- 1:09:06been around for a while. Last year qualifying,
- 1:09:08we had George Russell lose Hamilton and Lando
- 1:09:10Norris. Oh, we did. But that was quali, obviously.
- 1:09:12It wasn't the race podium. Nah. Nah. Since 64.
- 1:09:1864 was the last time. It was a 1, 2, 3. It was
- 1:09:21a podium. Yep. It was Jim Clark, Graham Hill,
- 1:09:24and John Surtees. Oh, yeah. I know those guys.
- 1:09:27Yeah. Surtees? Surtees? Household names. I was
- 1:09:30hanging out with him. You were hanging out with
- 1:09:32John? Yeah. He was over yesterday. That was crazy.
- 1:09:35He's really old. Yeah, right? He was having a
- 1:09:41great time. Anyway, Joe. Mike, thanks for being
- 1:09:46here this week, buddy. Hey, I'm glad I was here.
- 1:09:48We talked about some stuff. Oh, by the way, Mike's
- 1:09:50co -host, by the way. I deserve that for my LP
- 1:09:53thing last week. Yeah, clearly, because Joe's
- 1:09:56our host, right? Yeah. Correct. Thank you for
- 1:10:00being here. No problem. No problem. Really appreciate
- 1:10:03you showing up for once. I know, for once. Just
- 1:10:06unbelievable. Yeah. I fit it in. There's other
- 1:10:11things I should be doing and could be doing.
- 1:10:13But I fit it in. We appreciate the time. We appreciate
- 1:10:16you being here. Kev, thanks for being here. Kevin,
- 1:10:22my goat. He may or may not live where we are
- 1:10:26doing this show. He's being here remote right
- 1:10:28now. Don't forget to like, comment, subscribe
- 1:10:31wherever you listen to the banter, whether that's
- 1:10:33YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or iHeartRadio.
- 1:10:36I think that's all of them. Oh, Kev says we might
- 1:10:43be on Amazon or some shiz too. And if you're
- 1:10:46listening at all those places, you can also watch
- 1:10:48us on YouTube. At the same time? That's true.
- 1:10:50No, it'd be messed up. I'd be weird if you did
- 1:10:53that, but you could. Sync up the video with the
- 1:10:55audio. But why would you do that when you can
- 1:10:57just have the audio on YouTube too? Double down.
- 1:11:00Yeah, it's widely known that our Spotify audio
- 1:11:02is better than our YouTube audio. I love the
- 1:11:05way we sound on Spotify. Anyway, all right, let's
- 1:11:06get out of here. And we do that on purpose. All
- 1:11:07right, see you guys later. All right, bye, bye,
- 1:11:09bye. Don't forget to follow, like, and subscribe.
- 1:11:15Tune in next time for more banter with the boys.
