Transcript
- 0:04Speaker 1: Hello, friends from across the nation and around the world.
- 0:09Speaker 1: I'm Martin, and you are listening to Dad's Bedtime Stories,
- 0:14Speaker 1: the podcast that takes listener ideas and turns them into
- 0:18Speaker 1: bedtime stories. Today's idea is a standalone story that comes
- 0:23Speaker 1: to us from Charlie, who I'm thinking was maybe listening
- 0:27Speaker 1: to the Grandpa robones series over the weekend there and
- 0:32Speaker 1: maybe thought of it as a result, or possibly it
- 0:35Speaker 1: was just a coincidence. Let's check out the idea and
- 0:39Speaker 1: you can see what you think.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Hi.
- 0:42Speaker 3: My name is Charlie and I'm nine years old. I've
- 0:46Speaker 3: recently broke my arm, and I like listening to your
- 0:50Speaker 3: stories because they helped me get to sleep. I would
- 0:53Speaker 3: like my story to be one day I wake up
- 0:58Speaker 3: and my aunt is a robotic arm that has lots
- 1:03Speaker 3: of superpowers and I hope saved the world from criminals.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Well, Charlie, I think you have an excellent idea there.
- 1:12Speaker 1: And again, I don't know if it was because you
- 1:14Speaker 1: listen to Grandpa Robonese on the weekend, but I'm kind
- 1:19Speaker 1: of thinking the whole premise for Grandpa Robonese makes the
- 1:23Speaker 1: perfect premise for this particular idea.
- 1:27Speaker 2: You know, a.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Spaceship and his dragonling friend who like to help people
- 1:35Speaker 1: in need and you know, turn them into robots or
- 1:39Speaker 1: partial robots. I guess before we get started, I just
- 1:44Speaker 1: have a couple things I want to do. First of all,
- 1:48Speaker 1: I want to give a big shout out to some
- 1:50Speaker 1: of my latest Patreon sponsors. Thank you to Kaya and
- 1:56Speaker 1: Millie for signing up on Patreon and supporting the podcast.
- 2:00Speaker 1: I really really appreciate it. They will now be enjoying
- 2:04Speaker 1: some ad free episodes of the show and financially helping
- 2:09Speaker 1: us stay in existence. So thank you, thank you, thank you.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Last I just want to talk to you guys about
- 2:17Speaker 1: something I'm thinking of.
- 2:19Speaker 2: As you know, I often.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Create a logo for the show using artificial intelligence. I
- 2:27Speaker 1: sort of have it read my transcript after I create
- 2:30Speaker 1: the episode and come up with some artwork or a
- 2:34Speaker 1: way of changing my own logo to advertise for the show,
- 2:37Speaker 1: and some people out there really don't like that I
- 2:41Speaker 1: use a HI for it. I, on the other hand,
- 2:44Speaker 1: am of the opinion that in this case it's not
- 2:47Speaker 1: actually replacing a human, as I would not be able
- 2:51Speaker 1: to afford paying a human to do it at this point.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Hopefully I can in the future. But at the same time,
- 2:59Speaker 1: I don't want to discourage real humans like my listeners
- 3:03Speaker 1: from doing real artwork, because I think it's really important
- 3:06Speaker 1: to write stories and to draw pictures. So for the
- 3:12Speaker 1: month of May, I'm gonna do a couple different contests,
- 3:19Speaker 1: all right. The first one is a story writing contest.
- 3:24Speaker 1: I know I have a ton of people out there
- 3:26Speaker 1: who have been inspired to write stories. They might take
- 3:29Speaker 1: place in some of the universes from Dad's Bedtime Stories,
- 3:32Speaker 1: which is totally cool. They might be a completely standalone
- 3:36Speaker 1: episode or standalone story that you come up with, which
- 3:40Speaker 1: is also really cool. But whatever it is, if you've
- 3:44Speaker 1: written a story, I'm asking that you submit it to
- 3:49Speaker 1: me by email if you want to at dadt Bedtime
- 3:54Speaker 1: Stories at gmail dot com. I am going to pick
- 4:00Speaker 1: a couple of them to read on social media and
- 4:03Speaker 1: share with people, with the permission of the writer, of course,
- 4:07Speaker 1: and I will pick one this month to turn into
- 4:11Speaker 1: a full episode of Dad's Bedtime Stories with the help
- 4:16Speaker 1: of the writer, which could mean meeting up to kind
- 4:20Speaker 1: of flush out the story in a little more detail
- 4:22Speaker 1: to make it a full episode that sort of thing.
- 4:25Speaker 1: And second, I want to see your pictures, so if
- 4:29Speaker 1: you have pictures that you've drawn or colored in or
- 4:33Speaker 1: sort of anything from the podcast, please send them to
- 4:37Speaker 1: me at the same email address, Dad Bedtime Stories at
- 4:41Speaker 1: gmail dot com. And I would love to put some
- 4:44Speaker 1: of those up on social media as well. And again,
- 4:49Speaker 1: I think I'll pick my favorite one with the help
- 4:53Speaker 1: of my family, and we could do an episode for
- 4:57Speaker 1: that person as well. So if you want to join again,
- 5:00Speaker 1: just send them to me by email. But now that's
- 5:03Speaker 1: probably long enough for the beginning of a podcast and
- 5:06Speaker 1: I should get on with the story. This story is
- 5:10Speaker 1: about a boy named Charlie. He'd broke in his arm
- 5:14Speaker 1: and it was making a miserable. How he broke it
- 5:19Speaker 1: exactly doesn't really matter, because well, he didn't share that
- 5:24Speaker 1: information with me. But what was important was it was broke,
- 5:29Speaker 1: and it edged, and it felt heavier than normal, and
- 5:33Speaker 1: he couldn't play and do the things he wanted to do.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Everyone just kept telling him it'll heal eventually, but eventually
- 5:43Speaker 1: he felt very far away. To Charlie, he wanted it
- 5:47Speaker 1: to heal now. In fact, he wanted it to heal
- 5:51Speaker 1: better than it ever had. Sometimes he would imagine his
- 5:57Speaker 1: cast arm as a robotic arm instead a robotic arm
- 6:04Speaker 1: with really cool powers that allowed him to fight enemies
- 6:08Speaker 1: and vanquish evil and eh, you know that sort of thing.
- 6:14Speaker 1: One night, before settling into bed and putting on his
- 6:18Speaker 1: favorite podcast, Dad's Bed Time Stories for Kids.
- 6:22Speaker 2: I'm not sure if you've.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Heard of it, Charlie wished and wished that that robotic
- 6:29Speaker 1: arm would come true. Luckily for Charlie, there happened to
- 6:35Speaker 1: be a very special spaceship that was created for the
- 6:40Speaker 1: sole purpose of well wish fulfillment and adventure. Somehow, Charlie's
- 6:50Speaker 1: mental distress signal, his adamant request to become a superhuman
- 6:58Speaker 1: half robot person reached that spaceship. Human distress signal detected.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Spaceship said to well no one in particular, because on
- 7:11Speaker 1: this particular day, Spaceship was hanging out by himself. Emergency
- 7:18Speaker 1: protocols initiated. A portal folded up from the base of
- 7:25Speaker 1: the ship. It lit up a bright blue color, and
- 7:31Speaker 1: soon afterward, a little black dragonling with lava like veins
- 7:38Speaker 1: popped through.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Ah. Alloo, ah, did.
- 7:44Speaker 1: You send this portal for me? The creature asked, as
- 7:48Speaker 1: the portal shut off and folded back down into the
- 7:52Speaker 1: floor of the Ship, Yes, I did. I believe I
- 7:57Speaker 1: need your help once more. Magnus Spaceship said, ah, what
- 8:04Speaker 1: exactly is going on? A listener of our favorite podcast
- 8:10Speaker 1: is in some distress and discomfort. He is wishing heavily
- 8:15Speaker 1: to have a robotic arm instead of his current broken one. Now, well,
- 8:24Speaker 1: all right, you want to go fix his broken arm? Yes, however,
- 8:30Speaker 1: I believe we should enhance it beyond all reason. At
- 8:35Speaker 1: that moment, Spaceship's display changed to a picture of a
- 8:41Speaker 1: robotic arm. I have designed the perfect replacement, a robotic
- 8:48Speaker 1: arm that will both enhance and protect the wearer. We
- 8:54Speaker 1: will add both offensive and defensive capabilities, the power of flight,
- 9:01Speaker 1: a holographic projector, and other interesting and useful features. I
- 9:08Speaker 1: was hoping that you might be able to add some
- 9:12Speaker 1: other enhanced capabilities as well. What do you mean, like
- 9:18Speaker 1: a card or something? I mean, look at what I have.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Magnus reached down and pulled out a deck of cards
- 9:27Speaker 1: from well, Spaceship didn't know exactly where. The dragonling didn't
- 9:33Speaker 1: seem to have pockets, but it produced a deck of cards. Nonetheless,
- 9:39Speaker 1: all right, here we got some flight powers, some magical creatures,
- 9:47Speaker 1: and oh, this might be perfect a vigilante enhancement card
- 9:57Speaker 1: and a kind of card that will end grease your
- 10:00Speaker 1: overall strength, speed, and of course your battle reflexes, you know,
- 10:09Speaker 1: giving you the ability to fight better and that sort
- 10:12Speaker 1: of thing that sounds perfect. The kid in question was
- 10:17Speaker 1: hoping for enhancements that would allow him to fight crime.
- 10:23Speaker 2: Right.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Are you sure it's a good idea to give a
- 10:28Speaker 1: kid this much power? That is an interesting question, particularly
- 10:33Speaker 1: from a creature who exists in a universe where parents
- 10:38Speaker 1: allowed their children to have magical cards then go into
- 10:43Speaker 1: the forest and battle magical creatures with little to no supervision. Yeah,
- 10:51Speaker 1: I guess you're right. I don't want to be a
- 10:54Speaker 1: hypocrite or anything. Let's go enhance this kid understood, and so,
- 11:01Speaker 1: under the cover of darkness, Spaceship and his friend Magnus
- 11:06Speaker 1: the fire dragonling made their way back to Earth. They
- 11:12Speaker 1: entered the atmosphere, dropped down below the clouds, activated their
- 11:18Speaker 1: invisibility field, and floated over Charlie's house, activating sleep ray.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Now we must ensure that no one wakes up. A
- 11:31Speaker 1: strange blue light shot out of the bottom of the
- 11:34Speaker 1: ship and sort of enveloped the entire house. Then a
- 11:41Speaker 1: team of little medical robots were dispatched out the back
- 11:45Speaker 1: of the ship carrying a little stretcher. They made their
- 11:50Speaker 1: way through Charlie's window, carefully put the kid with the
- 11:55Speaker 1: broken arm onto a little stretcher and flew him outside
- 12:01Speaker 1: and into the back of the ship, where the medical
- 12:06Speaker 1: procedures began. A team of robots equipped with high tech
- 12:12Speaker 1: three D printing software began to reconstruct Charlie's entire arm,
- 12:19Speaker 1: replacing its parts atom by atom with metal and high
- 12:26Speaker 1: powered electronics. At the same time, Magnus pulled out the
- 12:32Speaker 1: Vigilante card and placed it on Charlie's chest. The card activated,
- 12:40Speaker 1: glowed blue, and shot into the boy. Charlie didn't have
- 12:45Speaker 1: a card Corps, but that didn't mean that a card
- 12:49Speaker 1: couldn't be fully absorbed by him. It became one with
- 12:55Speaker 1: Charlie's essence. It made him stronger, faster, and even enhanced
- 13:02Speaker 1: his reflexes and his sense for battle. I believe we
- 13:08Speaker 1: have completed the operation. Ah looks really cool too, Magnus said,
- 13:17Speaker 1: looking down at the sleeping boy with the robotic arm.
- 13:23Speaker 1: The same team of robots carefully flew him out of
- 13:26Speaker 1: the ship through the window and placed him gently back
- 13:31Speaker 1: in his bed before disappearing once more. The next morning,
- 13:38Speaker 1: Charlie woke up and the first thing he noticed was
- 13:41Speaker 1: that the strange, dull pain sensation was completely gone. He
- 13:48Speaker 1: looked down at his arm, expecting to see the cast
- 13:53Speaker 1: that had been on it, but instead seeing a robot arm.
- 14:00Speaker 1: His arm was now made entirely out of metal. For
- 14:06Speaker 1: a moment, he panicked, and then he tried to move
- 14:09Speaker 1: his fingers. To his surprise, they still moved just like
- 14:14Speaker 1: they always had. He bent his arm up and down,
- 14:19Speaker 1: he turned his wrist, and generally speaking, despite being a
- 14:24Speaker 1: robot arm, it worked just like it had other than
- 14:28Speaker 1: the fact that his wrist could now turn a full
- 14:30Speaker 1: three hundred and sixty degrees around without any kind of pain,
- 14:35Speaker 1: something he found weird, but for some reason wasn't particularly
- 14:40Speaker 1: panicked about, because at the end of the day Charlie
- 14:45Speaker 1: had wished for this. Had his wish really come true,
- 14:52Speaker 1: he felt a whole bunch of new sensations too, almost
- 14:57Speaker 1: like parts of his hand that well weren't there before,
- 15:03Speaker 1: reflexes that he instinctively knew he could activate, even though
- 15:09Speaker 1: that made no sense. He reached out to that first
- 15:14Speaker 1: sensation that first knew part on his arm that he
- 15:18Speaker 1: could now feel. It felt sort of like clenching the
- 15:23Speaker 1: muscles in your wrist. Only when he activated this one,
- 15:28Speaker 1: an energy shield began to grow out of the side
- 15:32Speaker 1: of the mechanical arm. The more he clenched, the larger
- 15:37Speaker 1: it grew, until it covered his entire body in a
- 15:41Speaker 1: protective force field like bubble cool, he said, before releasing
- 15:50Speaker 1: the muscle and the shield at the same time. Then
- 15:55Speaker 1: he activated another previously non existing part of his own,
- 16:00Speaker 1: and a little ray gun looking thing with a glowing
- 16:05Speaker 1: blue light at the end unfolded from the center of
- 16:08Speaker 1: his wrist. Maybe I should take this outside for some trials,
- 16:15Speaker 1: Charlie said, releasing that particular muscle and allowing the ray
- 16:20Speaker 1: gun to fold back into his arm. He got dressed
- 16:24Speaker 1: and decided to head outside. Though, uh wait, should he
- 16:30Speaker 1: show his parents he had a mechanical arm. He imagined
- 16:36Speaker 1: them panicking just a little bit, perhaps calling an ambulance
- 16:41Speaker 1: or forcing him to go to the hospital to get
- 16:43Speaker 1: things checked out. He would need to find a way
- 16:48Speaker 1: that they wouldn't see it to cover it up, maybe,
- 16:53Speaker 1: And with that thought, a strange sort of shimmer appeared
- 16:58Speaker 1: around the outside side of the arm. It glowed for
- 17:02Speaker 1: a second and then disappeared, leaving behind the image of
- 17:09Speaker 1: a normal human broken arm, just like it had looked
- 17:15Speaker 1: the day before. He could tell it was still mechanical,
- 17:20Speaker 1: but to his eyes it looked normal, cool, some sort
- 17:26Speaker 1: of holographic projection or something. He said out loud, turning
- 17:32Speaker 1: his wrist over left and right. I ain't wonder what
- 17:36Speaker 1: else that particular feature can do. Charlie made his way
- 17:43Speaker 1: out of the house, passed his parents, sent into a
- 17:47Speaker 1: small part of the yard that he thought would be
- 17:50Speaker 1: open enough yet secluded enough to try out his new powers.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Deciding that it probably wasn't the right place to try
- 17:58Speaker 1: out a ray gun, he reached for one of the
- 18:01Speaker 1: other sensations. His hand folded inside his wrist, and a
- 18:07Speaker 1: long pole extended outwards, a long pole with four long propellers.
- 18:15Speaker 1: The propellers popped up and well. Charlie now had a
- 18:21Speaker 1: medium sized helicopter propeller sticking directly out of his mechanical wrist.
- 18:28Speaker 1: He lifted the propeller up in the air and activated
- 18:32Speaker 1: it using his muscles. It instantly began to spin around
- 18:39Speaker 1: faster and faster and faster, until it slowly started to
- 18:44Speaker 1: lift Charlie up off of the ground, higher and higher
- 18:49Speaker 1: and higher into the air. Whoa, Charlie said, this is amazing.
- 18:57Speaker 1: Charlie tilted his arm forward, flew forward. He tilted it
- 19:02Speaker 1: back and flew backward. He could adjust the speed in
- 19:07Speaker 1: his height with a simple thought. This was the coolest
- 19:13Speaker 1: thing ever. In an instant, he launched himself up towards
- 19:17Speaker 1: the sky at incredible speed. The propeller pulled him along
- 19:22Speaker 1: through the air, almost as fast as a jet. He
- 19:27Speaker 1: blasted through the clouds and high above the world below.
- 19:33Speaker 1: It was honestly a pretty awesome time. Though Eventually Charlie
- 19:39Speaker 1: decided that it was probably time to come down for
- 19:43Speaker 1: a landing. He slowed down into more of a hover mode,
- 19:48Speaker 1: hanging from the propeller once again, and thought for the
- 19:52Speaker 1: first time that, eh, he wasn't even really feeling tired.
- 19:57Speaker 1: He was holding his entire body up by a single arm,
- 20:01Speaker 1: and normally that would exhaust a person, but Charlie's muscles
- 20:06Speaker 1: felt fine. They felt like he could do this all day.
- 20:11Speaker 1: That was another change that couldn't be explained by the
- 20:15Speaker 1: robotic arm alone. He slowly lowered himself down through the
- 20:21Speaker 1: clouds and realized that he was above some kind of
- 20:25Speaker 1: town center below. He wasn't sure exactly where, but there
- 20:30Speaker 1: were clearly a lot of people around, people who could
- 20:34Speaker 1: see him and report him and well possibly call the
- 20:39Speaker 1: army about him or whatever. In his worry, the same strange,
- 20:45Speaker 1: distorted energy that had covered up his mechanical alarm for
- 20:49Speaker 1: his parents started to spread over his arm and across
- 20:55Speaker 1: his entire body. It shimmered for a second, kind of
- 21:00Speaker 1: like air does when it's extremely hot over top of pavement,
- 21:05Speaker 1: and then his arms disappeared, and his legs disappeared. Everything
- 21:14Speaker 1: about him well was no longer visible invisibility. Maybe the
- 21:22Speaker 1: same holographic field can well give the illusion that I'm
- 21:28Speaker 1: not here, Charlie realized, as he slowly and invisibly lowered
- 21:35Speaker 1: himself down to the top of a fairly tall building
- 21:39Speaker 1: in the area. This should be an easy place to
- 21:43Speaker 1: test things out, he said, though he was kind of disoriented,
- 21:49Speaker 1: not being able to see his feet and where they
- 21:52Speaker 1: touched the ground. He could still feel them in everything,
- 21:56Speaker 1: but it's weird to not be able to see them.
- 22:00Speaker 1: He focused for a second, trying out something that he
- 22:04Speaker 1: hoped might work. He focused on that field that was
- 22:10Speaker 1: directly surrounding his limbs to expand outward into more of
- 22:16Speaker 1: a bubble. The air shimmered again as the glowing energy
- 22:22Speaker 1: moved away from his body and into a large bubble
- 22:26Speaker 1: form around him. It shimmered once more, and he could
- 22:32Speaker 1: see his arms and legs again. Looking out through the bubble,
- 22:37Speaker 1: everything was a little bit distorted. A quick look over
- 22:42Speaker 1: at a near by reflective door surface told him that
- 22:46Speaker 1: he was still invisible, at least from the outside of
- 22:51Speaker 1: the bubble, and this was probably a better place to
- 22:55Speaker 1: test some of the other equipment that came with the arm.
- 22:59Speaker 1: He once again focused on that sensation that had caused
- 23:03Speaker 1: the blue ray gun to pop up and had folded
- 23:07Speaker 1: out of his arm. Once again, he pointed it over
- 23:11Speaker 1: to a large mechanical box looking thing on the top
- 23:15Speaker 1: of the roof, squeezed his muscles, and a pulse of
- 23:20Speaker 1: blue energy shot out, hit the metal box and started
- 23:25Speaker 1: building ice up all around it. An ice ray perfect,
- 23:32Speaker 1: he said, Now what else have you got? He let
- 23:37Speaker 1: go of that muscle, folding the ice ray in, and
- 23:41Speaker 1: activated another. This one also looked like a ray gun
- 23:46Speaker 1: of some kind, though it was sparking on the end
- 23:49Speaker 1: with bits of electricity something about had told him that
- 23:53Speaker 1: he probably shouldn't point it at the metal box, so
- 23:57Speaker 1: instead he pointed it straight up in the air, squeezed
- 24:01Speaker 1: his muscles, and a bolt of electricity shot directly upward.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Wow. Cool.
- 24:11Speaker 1: This one came with a sense of power too, one
- 24:16Speaker 1: that he could turn up or down instinctively. He knew
- 24:21Speaker 1: that well. He knew there was a level that would
- 24:24Speaker 1: simply shock things it touched, and a level that would
- 24:28Speaker 1: do more. He said it to the first one. Charlie
- 24:32Speaker 1: didn't want to do anyone any real harm after all.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Then he released the muscle, allowing the electric blaster to
- 24:41Speaker 1: fold back into his arm, and activated the last one.
- 24:46Speaker 1: He could sense. A somewhat larger cannon like thing folded
- 24:51Speaker 1: out of his arm, with strange green good dripping from
- 24:56Speaker 1: the end of it. He pointed it at the same
- 25:00Speaker 1: mechanical box, squeezed his muscles, and fired a stream of sticky, bicky,
- 25:08Speaker 1: goopy goo blasted out and covered the mechanical box. It
- 25:16Speaker 1: looked like that would be really annoying to clean up
- 25:20Speaker 1: and very hard to escape from if you were hit
- 25:23Speaker 1: with it. Cool, he said, I think I might be
- 25:29Speaker 1: a superhero. Just then, his wrist started to beep. He
- 25:36Speaker 1: lifted it up to look at the side of it,
- 25:39Speaker 1: allowing the goo cannon to fold back in, and something
- 25:43Speaker 1: else unfolded from the side, a little screen with a
- 25:48Speaker 1: picture of a radio signal or something like that. The
- 25:53Speaker 1: numbers changed as the radio tuned itself into the right frequency,
- 25:59Speaker 1: and Charlie heard at tension, all units, we have a
- 26:05Speaker 1: bank robbery in progress. All available units should head to
- 26:09Speaker 1: the corner of First Street and Fifth Street immediately again,
- 26:15Speaker 1: bank robbery in progress, First and Fifth. The screen then
- 26:21Speaker 1: changed to a picture of a map. A blue dot
- 26:25Speaker 1: was blinking at the top of a building, clearly Charlie.
- 26:30Speaker 1: The map then zoomed out and pinged another dot, a
- 26:35Speaker 1: red one at the corner of First and Fifth Street.
- 26:42Speaker 1: Charlie oriented himself so he was pointing directly at the
- 26:46Speaker 1: red dot. Then he lifted his arm up in the air.
- 26:51Speaker 1: He activated flight mode. His hand folded inside his wrist
- 26:57Speaker 1: and was replaced by a medium sized helicopter propeller or
- 27:03Speaker 1: something like it, still invisible, Charlie blasted up into the
- 27:08Speaker 1: air and straight towards the coordinates on his wrist, coordinates
- 27:14Speaker 1: that were honestly somewhat hard to see when it was
- 27:16Speaker 1: his wrist holding him up, but he knew he was
- 27:19Speaker 1: going in the right direction. Scanning the streets below, he
- 27:24Speaker 1: soon came across what he assumed was the right street.
- 27:29Speaker 1: A bunch of police cars surrounded a large glass bank building.
- 27:36Speaker 1: At that instant, a team of people, while wearing black,
- 27:40Speaker 1: burst out of the bank and onto the streets. Put
- 27:45Speaker 1: your hands up and put the money down, a police
- 27:49Speaker 1: officer standing beside his car announced. In response, one of
- 27:55Speaker 1: the robbers pointed what looked like a ray gun straight
- 28:00Speaker 1: at the police car and blasted a red band of
- 28:05Speaker 1: energy straight at the thing. The car exploded. As the
- 28:09Speaker 1: police officer jumped out of the way to safety, the
- 28:13Speaker 1: robbers began to run. Charlie looked at where they were running,
- 28:18Speaker 1: to a car or a van that looked suspiciously like
- 28:24Speaker 1: an escape vehicle. He headed directly for it and dropped
- 28:30Speaker 1: down out of the air in front of it, Still
- 28:33Speaker 1: entirely invisible. He activated his freeze ray, pointed it at
- 28:38Speaker 1: one of the robbers, and squeezed his wrist. Blue energy
- 28:42Speaker 1: shot out of what seemed like nowhere to the robbers
- 28:47Speaker 1: and instantly froze one of them into a gigantic ice cube.
- 28:52Speaker 1: But who did that? The others said. Slowly, they backed
- 28:58Speaker 1: into each other back to back, pointing their ray guns
- 29:02Speaker 1: outward in a sort of protective circle formation. Charlie moved
- 29:08Speaker 1: to the side so he wouldn't be in exactly the
- 29:11Speaker 1: same place, switched to his goo cannon and blasted it
- 29:17Speaker 1: straight at another two of the perpetrators. A stream of
- 29:23Speaker 1: gooey green goop blasted out, hit the two individuals and
- 29:28Speaker 1: almost instantly stuck them to the floor. It's coming from
- 29:33Speaker 1: over there, the other two announced, pointing directly at Charlie. Instinctively,
- 29:40Speaker 1: Charlie activated his force field just in time for two
- 29:46Speaker 1: beams of red energy to bash directly into it. It
- 29:52Speaker 1: seemed that his invisibility had disappeared at that point. Maybe
- 29:57Speaker 1: he couldn't have both of them activated all at once.
- 30:01Speaker 1: Luckily for him, the energy shield seemed to be completely
- 30:05Speaker 1: unaffected by the blasts of energy. Charlie slowly began to
- 30:10Speaker 1: walk towards the two blasts. Hey, it's not working. Why
- 30:15Speaker 1: isn't it working. They continued to fire their blasters until
- 30:21Speaker 1: eventually they both became too hot. They dropped them as
- 30:27Speaker 1: if they'd just touched something straight out of the oven.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Ah I think it overheated, one of them yelled, and
- 30:35Speaker 1: in that instant Charlie activated his shock wave or lightning
- 30:40Speaker 1: device or whatever it was, and pointed it at one
- 30:44Speaker 1: of the robbers. A blast of non lethal electrical energy
- 30:49Speaker 1: shot out, hit the robber, and then changed to the
- 30:53Speaker 1: other one. Oh is he doing, they said, as they
- 30:59Speaker 1: clinched every muscle in their body. He allowed the shockwave
- 31:05Speaker 1: weapon to turn off, and the two robbers fell to
- 31:09Speaker 1: the ground. At the same time, sirens from almost every
- 31:14Speaker 1: direction started to appear. The police were coming. Charlie had
- 31:20Speaker 1: done the right thing, but he didn't really want to
- 31:23Speaker 1: answer questions about it right now. He instantly focused on
- 31:28Speaker 1: his invisibility field reappearing. The air shimmered around him, and
- 31:35Speaker 1: well it did just that. He lifted his arm up
- 31:40Speaker 1: in the air, folded his hand in and produced the little,
- 31:45Speaker 1: medium sized helicopter rotor. Once again, it began to spin
- 31:51Speaker 1: and Charlie lifted up into the air. He watched for
- 31:56Speaker 1: a minute from eye above the scene as the police
- 32:01Speaker 1: arrested the two shocked individuals, and well endeavored to free
- 32:06Speaker 1: the other three from the goo and ice, looking particularly
- 32:12Speaker 1: puzzled as they did so. Then Charlie blasted off into
- 32:17Speaker 1: the air once again. He flew high above the clouds
- 32:23Speaker 1: until the landscape below started to look a little more familiar.
- 32:29Speaker 1: He slowly lowered down and came to a hover as
- 32:34Speaker 1: he saw his very own house. He gently lowered himself
- 32:40Speaker 1: down to the ground, landing in front of his door
- 32:44Speaker 1: and deactivating his flight propeller as he moved toward it,
- 32:50Speaker 1: Keeping his field of invisibility activated, he slipped inside the house,
- 32:57Speaker 1: hoping no one would notice he'd gone. He tiptoed back
- 33:02Speaker 1: to his bedroom and deactivated the whole thing when he
- 33:07Speaker 1: was safely inside, His bed looked particularly comfortable right now,
- 33:15Speaker 1: and well he'd earned a good sleep after a day
- 33:19Speaker 1: of work as a robotic superhero. He climbed into his bed,
- 33:25Speaker 1: pulled the covers up to his chin, and closed his eyes.
- 33:32Speaker 1: With every breath, Charlie sank down into the mattress. He
- 33:39Speaker 1: released his shoulders, his arms, his legs, and with each
- 33:45Speaker 1: breath he sank a little deeper and his mind began
- 33:51Speaker 1: to wander off to thoughts of new dreams, new adventures,
- 33:57Speaker 1: and new robotic soup Your powers to come.
- 34:03Speaker 2: Good night everyone.
- 35:07Speaker 4: Name never in New York Union, No more.
