Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Hello everybody and welcome back to another episode of six-figure certified.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_00]: I'm your host live Chapman and we get this question often.
- 0:07[SPEAKER_00]: Like how do I know that it's time to quit my job?
- 0:10[SPEAKER_00]: How do I know I'm ready to start coaching full-time?
- 0:13[SPEAKER_00]: And there is no like one set and stone correct way to do this.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: But if we haven't met before, I want to share you a quick story.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: So I went to college, I got my master's to be an educator.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_00]: I was going to be a principal before I realized and had an existential crisis and wanted to get out of education and start coaching.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_00]: This was in 2014, so things were a little bit different back then, but what I did was give myself
- 0:40[SPEAKER_00]: you know a little bit of time in the spring and then essentially the whole summer that I was off from teaching to build my coaching business.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_00]: In that time I was able to replace my teaching salary, doing specifically career coaching at the time and ultimately I never looked back.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: I never went back and that was the exact path that I've done it.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_00]: Over the years we have trained and certified thousands of coaches.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_00]: all taking different paths of their own, but all having the same question is like, how do I know?
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: Today, I'm going to just give you 10 questions that you can ask yourself, no matter if you're considering coaching or just started before you quit your nine to five or your other job.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to break this down.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to give you the questions and you're going to have to do something with them.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: So, number one question to ask yourself before you quit your job and jump into coaching full-time or to make a plan to do so is have you proven that people will actually pay you?
- 1:34[SPEAKER_00]: So, I'm not necessarily talking about friends or family or pro bono clients.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_00]: I'm talking about have real people invested in your coaching.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_00]: That is the number one question that you need to have.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_00]: Like I had 311 clients before I even considered quitting or give it putting in my notice at my job.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_00]: Now they were lower paying clients at the time and I knew I had the whole summer to kind of get higher paying clients and feel really good about the offer, but
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: What I was selling was converting.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: I had a lot of people interested in career coaching and I was really good at talking about it and I had proven that people would pay me and we're getting good results.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: So you also have to prove that for yourself.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_00]: How do you know that people will actually pay you?
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: You have to start coaching.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, in IGC coaching school, we do not, you know, fall under the belief that you're above pro bono clients or you shouldn't practice your coaching before you have people pay for it.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: We absolutely think that if there's any part of you that has any resistance around getting paid to coach, you absolutely should
- 2:36[SPEAKER_00]: Test your coaching offer.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_00]: See what you're good at.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: Make sure your clients are getting results.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_00]: Almost every other career field, the path goes.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_00]: Gills, action, confidence, then credibility, then clients or customers.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know why the coaching industry likes to skip everything and just be like, you can use your life story to get clients tomorrow.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: That's a lie.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_00]: I have never said that.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_00]: And I do not believe that to be true.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: However, I do believe that practicing your skills and taking the right actions and, of course, getting certified or becoming credible, those things do result in clients.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: So if you haven't done that yet, maybe go back to the skills section, go through training, get certified, do something that makes you feel confident to warrant someone investing potentially thousands of dollars in your coaching services.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_00]: Make sure that you have proven that people will pay you for coaching.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_00]: Join our training in our Glow Circle.com slash training.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: That's a free training you can take to learn the exact step to be able to get paying clients.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: Number two, have I helped enough people to know my coaching actually works?
- 3:45[SPEAKER_00]: This one is really complimenting number one.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: They kind of go together.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: peanut butter and jelly baby.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_00]: But you gotta make sure that your clients are getting results.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: That's what builds sustainability.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: No marketing plan, no amount of content creation, no amount of dancing on the internet is going to replace excellent service, excellent coaching.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_00]: So you gotta make sure you have testimonials.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_00]: You have proof of client transformation.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_00]: You have clients that are resigning with you and coming back or sending you referrals.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: There is no better marketing plan than being really great at what you do.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: We have students and graduates come to us all the time they barely even have a social media presence because they're just word of mouth.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_00]: They get referrals.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_00]: It works.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: You absolutely can do become an influencer or a build great content or build a huge following our audience.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's great.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_00]: I'm also just saying,
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: That there's no better way to maintain that audience to maintain a sustainable business than offering an excellent service and you want to ensure that.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: One of the strategies I absolutely love for being able to do this is when you're starting coach training or starting in your business.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_00]: Take a few pro bono or low paying or sliding scale clients and exchange for those testimonials.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_00]: Number one.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: You can help people, which if you're here or if you're on our channel, we are not like get rich quick market quick do this overnight and make a bazillion dollars channel.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_00]: We are do really great work in the world.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_00]: Use your natural gifts of helping people make a really great impact and income channel.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_00]: So if you really, really are already this natural coach, you've been helping people help them.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_00]: Help them in this new capacity and make sure it works.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: Do this in exchange for testimonials, do this in exchange for reviews, and the other beautiful part about that is you're going to get so much information.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_00]: to be able to write your coaching sales page or create content or write on your sub-stack or whatever's trending now for content.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: Having that information is going to help you have evidence and proof of concept, if you will.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be great and it's also going to help you feel so confident in talking about what you do and the problem that people pay you to help themselves.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: Because you're going to know because we're going to tell you.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_00]: All right, let's move on.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_00]: Number three, can I confidently generate new clients with more time?
- 6:07[SPEAKER_00]: Everyone has this point where, you know, they have a few clients and they're like, I don't even have time to do what it takes to get anymore.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: So like, something's got to give.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_00]: We've all been there.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_00]: no matter what place of your scaling to leave your nine to five or scaling an offer inside of your growing coaching business, you have to really lock in and ask yourself, will more time actually be, is that the only barrier to you having a 10-k-month coaching business now, for example, right?
- 6:34[SPEAKER_00]: So I knew that if I had five coaching clients, five or six coaching clients, and I had a process that worked,
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: If I had more time I could easily double that and that's exactly what happened because I had, you know, while working and balancing all of this, I was figuring out a system.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_00]: And again, we teach all of this, you're not supposed to go out and know how to do this automatically if you've never coached or ran a business before.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: However, you do need to be confident that given 40 hours more per week, you will know exactly what to do to generate more clients.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't mean like 100% you know
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: business comes with its own challenges, there's ups and there's downs.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: But do you have a system in place that works and that you know, given all that more time, you're not just going to be like laudiedine, you know, I love a little laudiedob, but we can't do that for 40 whole extra hours a week.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: But do you have a system that you can crank it up and out?
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: and bring you in more clients.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: All right, that was question number three.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: Number four, how many months can I comfortably cover my living expenses without a paycheck?
- 7:39[SPEAKER_00]: Now, back in the day, I had just been told that if you wanted to quit your job in start of business, you needed to have at least like three months salary or three months living expenses saved.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't because I was broke and I was living paycheck to paycheck as a public school teacher.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_00]: So what did I do just in case?
- 7:56[SPEAKER_00]: I took out a loan that covered my living expenses for three months.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: The beautiful thing about that, as that I was able to pay that loan back within a year, which was amazing, and I kind of used some of the loan money to pay the actual loan itself.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: But that's because I felt safer, not going back to the classroom in the fall, knowing that I had this fall back when I didn't want to put myself in a position where I was like not going to eat if I didn't because being in that position is also very challenging to have a clear head to make the right decisions to confidently attract clients that want to transform their own lives.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: Like if you are truly in a place of not having your bare
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: not impossible, but it is more challenging and it is a mental game at that point, all right.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, maybe I wasn't just mentally strong enough to handle that.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: But I'd also just come from like, I like old school looked this up.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: Like, how do you know that you're in a safe place financially?
- 8:59[SPEAKER_00]: Even think that like they say now, you should have three months salary saved in the bank in case something ever happens.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: Again, that was just the Olivia way of doing things, but you have to ask yourself, how many months could you comfortably cover your living expenses with or without a paycheck?
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: It is something that you have to be real with yourself.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's also one of the things like, once you face the scariest thing ever, it's like not as scary because you know, like living in the dark or not really having those numbers is just not beneficial, not worth it, just get clear on exactly what you need.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_00]: Let me set up a little strator when I say this.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_00]: That's a business person move.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_00]: Like you're activating a new level of yourself, you're coming into a new identity as a full-time business owner, full-time entrepreneur, full-time coach.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: What, who do you have to become to make good decisions?
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: Like that, I was not, I don't come from a family business.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't come from any business experience.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_00]: That was a huge shift in me to start thinking of myself as a business owner acting like one and doing the things that a successful business owner does.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: because I can't even lie to you, some of how I showed up as an educator, as a teacher, especially in the summers, it was not like a business person, okay?
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: It was like how many episodes of Real Housewives can I fit in on a rainy summer afternoon while dreading what's coming in a couple months, right?
- 10:25[SPEAKER_00]: That was a huge identity shift.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_00]: It was a being shift.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: It was a doing shift.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_00]: There is a growth edge there.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: and I want you to just be real with yourself as any great business person would.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: They are real with their finances.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_00]: There's transparency there so that you are prepared to make good decisions.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_00]: Number five, do I know my minimum monthly income and what it takes to reach it?
- 10:48[SPEAKER_00]: So what do you actually need to make every single month to be okay?
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying that right away you're going to make 10, 12, 20, 30,000 dollars a month.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: Although I have seen these numbers happen very, very quickly for me.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_00]: And I know I've talked about this before.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_00]: I needed those six coaching clients.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_00]: They were all paying me $500 a month for weekly coaching sessions, which didn't do a little bit of math.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: My goal was to bring in $3,000 a month in my coaching business.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: I knew at that time, a long, long time ago in a house share with roommates, this was doable for me.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_00]: It was actually a little bit more than my take home pay as a public school teacher.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: I know, but whatever your number is and some people have
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: very different numbers.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_00]: Like if you are married, for example, and highly supported by a spouse a salary, that could look different.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: If you have money in savings, that could look different.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: If you don't have any of these things, it also can look different.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe you're a single parent.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_00]: Like I'm a single parent to replace what I need to live now is a very, very different than $3,000 a month.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_00]: But it doesn't matter what the number is.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_00]: It matters that you're clear on it and you know exactly what it takes to bring in that revenue.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_00]: And it's six people to believe in me and to pay me for my career coaching services.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_00]: What do you need?
- 12:06[SPEAKER_00]: Do you need 10?
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: Do you need three?
- 12:08[SPEAKER_00]: Do you need the numbers to change?
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_00]: We have a lovely, very fun.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely exhilarating free resource for you at interglowcircle.com slash r-o-i.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_00]: Where you are able to calculate
- 12:22[SPEAKER_00]: your projected coaching business income.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_00]: So you can play with the little dials on there.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_00]: You can say I want to sell my coaching services for $300 per session.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_00]: And then there's a scale.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_00]: You can play with how many clients you need.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_00]: Go do that.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_00]: Know the numbers.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: Know the numbers.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_00]: Number six.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_00]: This one is key.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like a lot of people will skip this because they're like I can do everything my own.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_00]: Number six, what support systems will I need to be successful working for myself full time?
- 12:51[SPEAKER_00]: I was not successful working for myself full-time on my own.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_00]: Never was, probably, never will be.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_00]: Really don't feel that much like, ah, gotta go.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_00]: Unless I have some community and some accountability.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_00]: I had a coach when I first started, I then hired a sales trainer when I first started.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_00]: I haven't invested a lot in support and accountability because I know myself.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_00]: and if I'm just left alone to my own devices, we may fall back into old patterns.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_00]: So, there is no shame.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_00]: I think of the IGC community now as like my board of directors.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_00]: These are who I go to and meet with around marketing.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: I meet with them around sales.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_00]: I bring professional development requests to this space.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_00]: You need something.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_00]: some type of support and maybe God willing you have an amazing spouse or partner or person in your life that is you can go to it doesn't always have to be paid support I know when I was first starting one of the greatest ways that I found accountability was to launch a program with a fellow coach
- 13:50[SPEAKER_00]: so that was wonderful.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_00]: We launched a group program successfully many times in my first couple years of business again in that realm of career coaching and it was great.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_00]: It was two brains to do marketing, two brains to do sales, two brains to help people and also sometimes somebody was having a bad day so we could help each other out in that way too.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_00]: So
- 14:13[SPEAKER_00]: What support do you actually need to be successful working for yourself full time?
- 14:19[SPEAKER_00]: Because while you're excited and you're gonna be revved up, especially if you're like quitting a job that you didn't like, or it's like finally go time, but tough days are inevitable.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_00]: I'm never gonna sit here and be like, life is perfect just because you start a coaching business.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_00]: The tough days aren't inevitable.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_00]: I think that this version of tough I'll take any day compared to my previous job, however, you've got to have someone who sees you, who pulls you up, who believes in you, who believes in the vision.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_00]: And sometimes this person is not in your household or in your family or even in your immediate friend circle, at least it wasn't for me.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_00]: So figure out what systems for accountability, community, and support you need and make sure you've got them lined up locked in and ready to go.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_00]: Number seven, have you considered health insurance, retirement benefits?
- 15:10[SPEAKER_00]: I have to be so honest with you when I was in my late 20s, single, no kids quitting my job to start this business.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't think about any of this, but because I'm older and
- 15:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's worth considering and depending on where you are in your journey, this could look different, but I want to give you a few ideas.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_00]: You can think about things like health insurance.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_00]: Health care share, like a lot of ministries, have health care shares.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_00]: I've been part of those before.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to lie to you and this is probably very controversial.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_00]: I still don't have traditional regular health insurance and but I'm you know healthy we have catastrophic health insurance and probably oversharing and like I don't want you to do what I do you have to do with best for you but there's a lot of different options outside of the traditional route that can save you money and potentially make you feel safer or covered the health needs that you have.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_00]: We have a lot of people that I've heard from NIGC that used like primary care
- 16:13[SPEAKER_00]: to pay for their healthcare costs if you marry somebody with good health insurance.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_00]: up to you.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_00]: Marketplace plans you also can consider like a health savings account.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_00]: And then on the other side of that, like more like retirements or benefits, are you, you know, if you're leaving something like a 401k or a pension, I ended up staying the full amount of time that I needed to to be able to access my pension, which was small at that point, but you do want to consider those
- 16:47[SPEAKER_00]: I do believe that it's always possible to create more money and it's not always possible to create more time.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think these should be things that hold you back.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_00]: But I think that you have to be smart.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_00]: Again, you're entering this new era where you're now a business woman or a business person or an entrepreneur.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_00]: And these are considerations that you don't want to just kind of fly blindly on.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, you're not going to be able to do that.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_00]: You're not going to be able to do that.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to be able to do that.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to be able to do that.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to be able to do that.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to be able to do that.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to be able to do that.
- 17:07[UNKNOWN]: You're going to do that.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_00]: Also considering like a high yield savings account, a Roth IRA, there's other, again, these are not investment advice whatsoever.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just giving you examples of what I have done and what I've seen some of our students and graduates do.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_00]: But you need to figure out for yourself, how are you going to save money?
- 17:24[SPEAKER_00]: How are you going to get the benefits that you need?
- 17:26[SPEAKER_00]: How are you going to take care of your health?
- 17:29[SPEAKER_00]: And this is not to scare you.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_00]: You also have to figure things out like how you're going to pay taxes, okay?
- 17:36[SPEAKER_00]: what it takes to run a business.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_00]: And there's a lot of freedom and flexibility that come with that, but I also recommend some proper prior planning, if you know what I mean.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_00]: All right, so have you thought through those items, if not, think them through.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_00]: number eight, how could I supplement my income if needed?
- 17:57[SPEAKER_00]: I am not a plan B kind of person.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I am a take plan B off the table kind of person and I'm not talking about that plan B.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I am talking about like, if I have a plan, I'm going so hard towards plan A that like, I don't even want to see plan B, it's a distraction.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_00]: However, it is not
- 18:19[SPEAKER_00]: beneath you or me to have a little bit of a backup plan if needed.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_00]: Again, all of us are wired a little bit differently, but I would consider that.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_00]: What other supplemental ways could you potentially increase your income if you are in a slow season of business?
- 18:34[SPEAKER_00]: Every business has slow seasons.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_00]: It's okay.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_00]: But do you have other ways potentially of earning income should you
- 18:48[SPEAKER_00]: Are you, can you consult in any area?
- 18:51[SPEAKER_00]: Can you do any type of freelance work on any of these freelance platforms?
- 18:55[SPEAKER_00]: And if you're going to graphic design or maybe you're going to copy writing or editing or text stuff that I probably don't know the proper words for.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_00]: Do you babysit?
- 19:04[SPEAKER_00]: I kept my summer babysitting job the entire time that I was building my business.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_00]: It was very part-time, but still it covered the rent.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_00]: that piece covered the rent, so that was great.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_00]: Pet sitting.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_00]: I just love animals so much.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure you've seen some of them in the background of these videos, but Pet sitting is absolutely something that you could do if you like the animals and you can where you are teaching or substitute teaching.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_00]: That's a huge one.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to start substituting again just for fun.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_00]: Like I do miss that, but
- 19:36[SPEAKER_00]: contract work, drivers, food delivery, grocery delivery.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_00]: I am not saying you have to do these things, but you want to have something there in case things come up.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_00]: All right, I don't think it's a bad choice.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that it means your business isn't growing and isn't wonderful, but there may be times where you need to supplement your income at first.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_00]: Again, you are growing.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_00]: All I'm saying is that your dream, your vision, doesn't have to carry a hundred
- 20:06[SPEAKER_00]: All right, and you shouldn't beat yourself up over that if that's the case.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_00]: Number nine, I love this question.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_00]: If you suddenly or when you suddenly have 40 extra hours a week, right, if you're quitting a nine to five, do you know exactly how to use that time to grow your business?
- 20:22[SPEAKER_00]: Again, this isn't something that people are just born knowing.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_00]: So if you haven't been given these skills, if you haven't learned how to run a business, if you haven't worked with a mentor or worked underneath people who have earning $67 in their coaching business, I do not expect you to just google your way into ever-knowing knowledge of how to spend your time.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_00]: However, you do want to get clear on that because what I found when I first left, I was like, dang, I got a lot of free time.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_00]: I would say it took probably a good month to really get a rhythm of what I was supposed to be doing, and that is because I was being mentored by a coach who is already coaching full-time.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_00]: By a woman who is already coaching full-time.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_00]: All right, so you want to know how to spend that time.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_00]: I am not saying you have to work nine to five again and get re-burned out again.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_00]: I don't care what hours you work.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe you're working 20 hours a week, 25 hours a week.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_00]: But you really, really, really do want to set up your calendar again like a business person.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_00]: You have time for marketing, you have time for administrative work, you have time for sales calls, you of course have time for coaching, maybe you have time built in for content creation.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_00]: I have a little video that talks about how to do this with 10 hours a week, but you could obviously increase the time in any one of these areas.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_00]: So check out that video here.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_00]: In case you need a little bit of help figuring out kind of what to work on week to week in your coaching business.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_00]: But 40 extra hours a week does not mean sad.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_00]: 40 extra hours of bravo T.P.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_00]: All right, number 10, what's the vision for your life as a full-time coach?
- 22:01[SPEAKER_00]: probably should have started with this one, but we're gonna end it on a high note.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_00]: I want you to close your eyes if you're not driving or doing something important that your eyes are needed for.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_00]: And really envision what are you doing?
- 22:13[SPEAKER_00]: What is this vision?
- 22:15[SPEAKER_00]: What is your why?
- 22:16[SPEAKER_00]: Because like I mentioned before, there's gonna be tough days.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_00]: There's going to be hard decisions that you have to make.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_00]: There's gonna be days where you feel like nothing's working and you gotta keep chasing the nose and you gotta keep chasing failure because that's how you find success and the only thing
- 22:35[SPEAKER_00]: That's the only thing.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_00]: But one of the only things that are going to make you still want to get out of bed and give this year all and change people's lives and find the clients that are meant to work with you and build the business that is in this vision is actually having one.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_00]: And this vision is bigger than these other questions I gave you like what's the minimum amount of money you need to survive, how are you going to supplement your income just in case?
- 22:59[SPEAKER_00]: all of those are like these, they're just needed parts of the process.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_00]: This is what it's all about, though.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_00]: Do you envision yourself with a lot of freedom and flexibility and being home and like I still have visions for my life?
- 23:16[SPEAKER_00]: Like where I can look out a huge bay window.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_00]: and there's kids and there's horses and there's a garden and I still don't even know how to garden but it's in the vision board.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 23:25[SPEAKER_00]: But like what is your vision for your business and for your life when it is fully operating like you want it to?
- 23:33[SPEAKER_00]: You've got to paint that picture for yourself because it's going to be very challenging without it.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_00]: because it's like, what is this all for?
- 23:42[SPEAKER_00]: And any good coach, like this is when we go into the coaching plan, it's like, what did you hire me for?
- 23:47[SPEAKER_00]: What are we doing all this for?
- 23:48[SPEAKER_00]: Why do you want to move up in your career?
- 23:50[SPEAKER_00]: Or why do you want to lose weight?
- 23:51[SPEAKER_00]: Or why do you want to find a relationship?
- 23:53[SPEAKER_00]: Or why do you want to build more confidence?
- 23:54[SPEAKER_00]: Why do you want to build this big beautiful business?
- 23:59[SPEAKER_00]: And you've got to lock in on your why.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_00]: And you've got to keep it somewhere in the forefront of your brain so that you can move forward towards this.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_00]: vision and towards this life that you're building for yourself.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_00]: So I hope that helps.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_00]: It's a little bit of being.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_00]: It's a little bit of doing.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_00]: But if you answer these 10 questions before you just
- 24:23[SPEAKER_00]: You know, walk out of your nine to five for the last time or putting your two weeks notice, I can promise you that you're going to feel much more prepared.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to be on a much better place and it's going to be a much more empowering way to kick off this next level version of yourself, your life, your business, your income.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_00]: So I hope this helps if you have any questions or want to add any questions to this, please leave them in the comments below.
