- speaker-0: Fourth & Bonilla Podcast speaker-1: How we doing? speaker-0: I feel great. speaker-1: Feeling good? Great. speaker-0: Had my first good week in the Familia Pick pool. Respected. speaker-1: There you go. speaker-0: Wasn't in contention, but still. speaker-1: Shit the bed. speaker-0: No, no, just at I had like ten wins, eleven wins. I was at the I was at the top there. The the Saints really let me down. speaker-1: It was a hard week. I mean, anyway you put it, I think it was really hard. I think now we're getting to that point in the season where people start to think that things are solidified and then you know, random stuff happens, right? Like the team that you didn't expect still competing, like Miami with the Vikings this past week. It's just like I don't know. There's like little things like that where I think it's just gonna continue to happen. speaker-0: But you what's great too? We have four weeks under our belt, which is a good sample size to start to really s it like assess like which teams are like have potential, which teams are legit, which teams didn't start off too hot, but maybe are like you know, maybe starting to put it together. the Falcons being one of them, right? I was speaker-1: Just about to say that. Yeah, I think we're on the same page. I think everyone's on the same page with that one. Falcons are they're waking up. I mean, their coach is good, man. Like he won coach of the year for a reason. speaker-0: They got weapons and they have weapons. They can stay healthy. And then panics, yeah. Pretty thought. speaker-1: More impressive than I he's serviceable for sure. speaker-0: it was cool having you over for Monday Night Football with my Venezuelan brother. speaker-1: Alex Rough? Alex, man. Good kid. Good guy. huge baby, huh? speaker-0: Dude, Tyler the tank. speaker-1: Pilo the tank. speaker-0: Tyler getting a shout out on the pod. I love that. speaker-1: I love that. speaker-0: how about he's gonna be coming on shortly, but Mike Shereta, Tipper, you gotta love that. speaker-1: I some people some people just get it, you know? Yeah. They've been around, they understand the game. but Shredda is he's a legend in these parts, especially in the CT parts. This guy. Literally everything he touches, guys, is gold. He knows what he's doing. I don't know. For some reason he's good at everything. Sports, conversations, everything. speaker-0: On the diamond I heard he was just like I heard he was the best one out of all all the gu s you know, Steve, Bobby speaker-1: The best is like when we would go see him play softball and it's like still perfect form. Like you but you see he's like like hand on hand on top of the glove, he's ready to go, like cups the ball when he gets in there. I'm like, dude, this guy is amazing. I love dude, I love it. I I love it so much. Like he nah, he's awesome, man. He's a good egg for sure, and literally can't wait to to talk to him about this week because he he killed it, dude. I'm so like we were kind of going back and forth the top. The top contestants were were all gonna be good candidates for the pot. speaker-0: but I'm happy Mike One. I'm trying to pull up here really quickly. So he had speaker-1: Same. He had twelve wins and he tied with Steph Martino. Steph, haven't seen her in a while. speaker-0: Def's always consistent. speaker-1: Always consistent. speaker-0: Dude does a fantastic job. and then we had a lot of people in with eleven wins. Let's give shout outs to those folks. Will Northrop. Tim Timmy boy. Remember Timmy? He won last year. Yeah. Steelers fan. speaker-1: Timmy Timmy Timmy Turner. speaker-2: yeah. speaker-0: Dom Longo, my boy. T Dogs. Shout out to T Dogs. speaker-1: T Dogs. Berg. I feel like he's always in the mix. speaker-0: A minute. speaker-1: Burg. Love it. Jacob Bloom. Jacob Bloom. That's my coworker. Shout out. speaker-0: And Mueller. speaker-1: Puller Peter always says he doesn't do well, and now he's doing well. speaker-0: I know, I don't wanna even hear it from him. Anyway, we have our guest of honor. He's here. speaker-1: Bring him in. Bring him. speaker-0: Man. speaker-2: There we go, yes. speaker-0: Are we living there? speaker-2: All good, all good. How you guys doing? speaker-0: All right. Yeah, there we go. Perfect. Make sure you get that VAX air in there. speaker-1: Dude, kids blessed. Kids blessed. speaker-0: You see how we we hijack your money until we get to the podcast? Get on. speaker-2: Yeah, I love Yeah, yeah. This is fence, I love speaker-0: Dude, always a classy guy. Great tipper. Appreciate you, man. of course. speaker-2: No, I know. I've been down the road. It's I it people don't understand like the what goes into it. So yeah, we we I appreciate you guys doing it. I've I've run a couple of pools and like you know, it takes your time. So it's well earned. Well earned. speaker-0: Yeah, Banilla brothers try we try our best around here, you know? Dude, we were just singing your praises before this. We're like, dude, Michael does everything well, especially on the diamond. But you're a jack of all trades in the in these parts. speaker-2: Ex yeah, except getting except getting on the laptop here. speaker-0: Yeah, yeah. IT not but that's the only we all have to speaker-2: No light. speaker-0: talk about that area. we had a freaking awesome, awesome week. and I know you're a Giants fan, so we wanted to hear from you about the Giants game and just what are your thoughts of of the of the team in general. speaker-2: yeah, obviously great great game was sweating out like crazy at the end. you know, it was a tough blow. You lose your quarterback right away. It was your your future, what we were excited for, a young team, so it was tough dart going out early. you know, Jamoose is holding it down for now. it's a weak schedule in the beginning, so take advantage and they are. defense looks great. Get your wins now because I know the back end of the schedule is gonna be rough. so try to get ahead now while while these guys the other NFC East is down and maybe sneak one out here. speaker-1: Totally. I I think the scheduling is like such a huge advantage for them. When I was looking back at it, I'm like, God, if if they it would have been switched, had some hard teams in the beginning, like you know how that goes. Like morale kind of goes down early. You guys just hit like a perfect stride. And yeah, sure, Jameis isn't like playing perfect, but a win's a win, man. Everyone everyone knows it's really hard to find wins in the NFL. And if you could do it under a new coach, despite him being obviously a legend, like A new system's a new system. You still gotta get all the guys aligned. You you know, there's there's a lot to do with that, especially if it's an organization that's been losing for, you know, a little while. speaker-2: Yeah, yeah, definitely. I mean, yeah, three three and one. They won the three games they're supposed to, and they probably even with Dart, they might have still lost to the Rams at Rams week two. so I mean they're they're in a good good spot. Best they could do right now. speaker-0: Dude, you you guys put up thirty six points on Sunday. I don't care who they played it against, they still put it up thirty six points. That's pretty impressive. speaker-2: Yeah. speaker-1: I mean, the Cardinals, y I mean you guys are doing yeah, you're doing your thing. And it was at home, so you know. speaker-2: Which you you you can only play the games in front of you, so speaker-0: What about the game? Speaking of the game in front of you, you got the Washington Commanders speaker-1: Just about to bring that up. speaker-2: With what the yeah, third third string QB and then the Mariota's probab out. I think Daniels is out still. speaker-1: Think you're right. speaker-2: So there we go. You got another you gotta take advantage while you can right now. You gotta you you you have to. it's another winnable game. Why not? speaker-1: Literally, why not is the right way to approach it. And Pete, Marco, you know, Marco. I don't know if you watch. Do you watch Marco? what's his last name? Pete? Penapinto or something like that? speaker-0: No, Pi Pimante or something? speaker-1: Pimante or something. So there's this guy that we we follow online. He he does his picks. Like it's a weekly kind of thing. He he was signed with fanatics for a little while, and nice, whatever. He's he's he he's an interesting dude, but he talks about one of I don't know if it's a family member or if it's a good friend or something, but he was the quarterback for the Ruck like for Ruckers at a certain point. And he's their third string, the Washington Commanders. And Pete, he was going nuts. And he actually did pretty he didn't do too bad. Like when he first came in, I think the Colts were just like they had a moment, obviously, in London and they they kind of needed a W there. So I think that they were just capitalizing on it. But I'm interested to see like what he's gonna do after a full week because he's been hyping this kid up for like I mean almost two seasons now. Like obviously he came out, he thinks he's he ha he should have been drafted higher. but I don't know. Something to look out for when you when we speaker-0: At the Caligumus? I don't know. Yeah. speaker-1: his last name is speaker-0: He was really hyping him up. but they're saying here that Daniels is the start back again? Is he back? Already? speaker-2: That's quick. I speaker-1: That's real quick, yeah. speaker-2: can't believe he's back, but speaker-0: Yeah, goal is for Daniels to start, Sunday versus Giants. speaker-2: All right, well that's not a good sign, but speaker-0: can see him getting hurt in that game right there. So something for us to think about for week five. But week four is why we're here because you dominated 12 wins up at the top with Steph Martino. I want to hear the whole story and how you started. So how did you go about making your picks this week or this past week? speaker-2: so typically, maybe not this week, but typically it's like a three-step process for me. I'll do Tuesday, like tonight, I'll like look at the spreads, look at the or just look, just pick them. I won't look at like Vegas. Look at the pick spreads and just go gut feeling, first instinct, knowledge from last week, and just kind of like your gut, select the board, save it. That's it. Then this part two will be like Thursday, Friday. I'll check the updated lines with Vegas, probably again against the Pick'em lines. Make your adjustments there as you see fit, you know, some spreads, some injuries, that. And then part three Saturday night or Sunday with the final injuries and watch a Scott's Scott Hansen. speaker-0: Dude. speaker-1: Dude. speaker-2: Yeah. speaker-0: Speaking of Scott Hansen, what are you what were your thoughts when you saw Scott Hansen kick off off the Helio Pool? speaker-2: Great. Amazing. Yeah, he's I mean he's the speaker-1: Right. speaker-2: the best best performer. I mean, it it's it was it was a great, great, great touch. Just good great to start. speaker-1: Dude, we when we got that we were cracking up when I first came in. I still can't get out over the the intro that he did. He's like, la familia. speaker-2: yeah. He was rate into like he knew exactly what to do. He's he's great. speaker-1: he's so good, dude. That was that was like such a nice touch. We were cracking up about that. But once we got that, I was like, All right, this is this is gonna kick off the season nicely. speaker-0: I feel like your strategy, dude, is like very detailed. Like whenever we ask this question to all the winners, a lot of them are not it's either like luck or they some some of them have like a routine, but like you have a legit routine. speaker-2: That would be my part like three three stepper. I mean, I don't do it every week, you know, y you don't know how the week takes you, but if I had a perfect week, that's that was it. That was it, like a three step. speaker-0: That you know what too? Like it is a good way to approach it because a lot of these games sometimes you just look and just like, don't worry about the line. Just what 'cause then you see a line, you're like, wait, why is that line like that? That doesn't make any sense. Yeah. And then you can kinda you could flip it. You do you do run the risk of put making you know making your picks early on and then you know, changing that pick and you had the original was right. I'm sure that's happened to you a handful of times. speaker-2: I'll second guess myself, look at the line, the line jumped big time, like two, three points. I'm like, what am I missing? they know they know more than me, so I switch and and it and it's a loss. speaker-1: The worst feeling, dude. You just gotta go with your gut, man. Like I did that the other day with Cleveland and I actually I got right for the pick but we're in another pool that's just straight up like money line, or just like the winner. And I'm like, I just feel like they're gonna win, man. And I just couldn't get over it. I picked the other team and I was so fucking pissed, man. I'm like, damn it. so look, remind me, like, cause you came down to the end, I think, with this one. Was it going into Sunday night or Monday night where you guys were still tied and you were speaker-2: Mon Monday night. So so all that whole strategy, I didn't even do it this week. This week was a Tuesday set it and forget it. And I really I really forgot it. So speaker-0: I was gonna say that too, Michael. I was gonna say like that put possessions you well because if you do forget, at least you you rock out with whatever you had. speaker-2: Literally like, you know, you have other things going on. I literally forgot about it. Plus, I haven't been doing well in the pool. So I was like, all right, whatever. Put my picks in, forgot about it. Literally got a text from my brother Monday. Thank God. Shout out Matt. My brother, he's like, I see you I see you I see you in the pick pool. I'm like, what? So like I looked at it, I was like tied tied with five other people. I was like, I got a shot here. And like looking at it, I was like, do I change my pick? Do I keep it? and I kind of like thought back like to last year. I was in this similar situation. I'll never forget. It was Colts versus Niners. I was actually up a game, and there was like three people like a game behind. I thought I overthought it, thought they were gonna be all Colts. So I picked the Colts. Old Man Rivers got killed against San Fran. And that goes to show you go with your gut. So I went I went with my gut this this time. I was like, I'm not changing it. I I'm gonna stick with it and it paid off. speaker-0: So you had the Falcons from the speaker-2: I had the Falcons and forty six. Steph had forty one. Yeah. Steph had forty one. speaker-1: Yeah they speaker-0: They started scoring towards the end of the speaker-2: But then well Yeah, fourth quarter they've Yeah. speaker-1: They really blew it up in the fourth quarter. What was do do we do we know what the over and under was? speaker-2: The final score was like s in a s they had sixties. but you're talking about like the Vegas line was probably that's how it kind of basically close. Yeah, I think it was like maybe forty eight. I usually that's how I determine the tiebreaker is speaker-1: I was gonna ask, yeah, so how do you how do you do that typically? speaker-2: so I'll look at the Vegas line and adjust it up or down a few points depending on what I'm feeling. That's probably standard, but that's that's my go to is you know, trust Vegas. If I think it's gonna be more I might go a couple points up, think it's gonna be less, a couple points down. speaker-1: Totally more I mean, how many times have we been like Yeah, right? We always say, I can't believe they got it this close again, kind of thing. It's incredible. speaker-2: They have the analytics, they I mean they know what they're doing. So I I you know, I adjust from there and then then and that's speaker-0: It was forty seven and a half was was the the over speaker-1: Seven and a half. speaker-0: on that blew that up over. speaker-2: Way over. speaker-1: I didn't think that that was gonna be the case, man. I thought there was gonna be a little magic in the air when it comes you know, when whenever there's a sentimental game like that, it was the whatever, twentieth or something anniversary, yep, of Katrina and those things have a weird way of playing a factor. So I don't know. I maybe I dug into that a little too much, but just another factor always. speaker-2: No, for sure. speaker-0: Now, did any hedging come into mind for you or you well, you weren't you you couldn't really hedge 'cause you didn't have a clear way like if you could have probably hed hedge during the game. speaker-2: Maybe during the game. But yeah, once I found out, so was I was tied with five you know, f four other people we were tied, all at eleven. And then when the game started, you obviously saw everybody's picks. So it was me and Steph that had Atlanta and the other three had New Orleans. So I knew, you know, I just had to worry Atlanta winning the game and or covering. I think they were plus two and a half. and then we're kind of the tiebreaker. speaker-0: Just a just pray for points. speaker-2: Yeah, yeah, and I I know I had the over. Yeah, I know it was I had to get forty four or over, so speaker-0: Is there any bad beats? Do you know any bad beats from the week? Like obviously your sweat of the week was was Monday, but maybe you could have won it outright. speaker-2: Yeah, I was my my sweat was probably the f the Giants. Fourth and goal first and goal from the four. I had pick the pair pick in the in the pick pool. speaker-0: yes. speaker-2: Four you know, four yards away. They had four shots and giants brick wall stopped them. But the bad beat I think was my s Seattle. Seven and a half. They're up seventeen going into the fourth. speaker-0: Yep. They blew that. speaker-2: Chargers scored Tutty like nine minutes ago and then there was two minutes left. They kicked a field goal on first down because they needed, you know, they were down ten points, Chargers. So you need the field goal and the touchdown. So they went for the field goal with like on first down with two minutes left just because they needed it. And they they covered with the seven when it was seven and a half. So that was a that was a bad one. speaker-1: Yeah, that was my lock of the week this past week. Really? I'm like, freaking classic. Just a hooker, man. speaker-2: Seventeen going into the fourth, it's it's tough. Yeah. speaker-0: And like this team has just shown they've like they haven't been covering the spread. Like we thought like for a s I thought for a second like they may they have to cover at some point. Yeah. They have to cover at some point. But yeah, that that I was looking at the game like I was so pissed. And then they came back. Yeah. speaker-2: Yeah, bad beat. speaker-0: Yeah, you could have won that one outright and no no sweating on Monday. speaker-1: Would have been sweating. speaker-2: Because they all yeah, they all had chargers, all of them. I was the only one with S Seattle, so I could have been up one, no problem. But all good, all good. speaker-1: So so switching gears here for a sec, I know you're aware of or let me know if if you're not aware, but the the the squad ride that we've been doing. for sure. are what what are your thoughts on it? Are there any suggestions that you have in terms of us potentially changing it? Like we're open to anything. Yeah. Obviously first year doing it. speaker-2: Yeah, no, first year, well we'll just test I I complete I please understand test it out. I like it. I mean I know it's tough. It's to make it worth it for 161 people, like to spread 150 bucks over eighteen weeks, I get what you guys are doing for sure. I almost rather you guys pick the games. and then if if you have a dispute then flip the coin. But I I I well you know, it's it's easy for me. It's just it's It's free. That's exciting. part of it. I kinda wish you guys almost took the money, the one fifty, a little tip or something. I hope people are tipping you guys for all you do. But but yeah, I know I I'm enjoying it. It's fine with me. speaker-1: Love it. Love it. And I actually like that idea, Pete. Like every once in a while. I mean, honestly, the idea that keeps coming up is previous winners get the opportunity to do the next squad ride, which is kind of like a just another incentive, right? speaker-2: That's not bad, yeah. I like that. speaker-1: So that was one speaker-0: We we put the pushback on that was which is interesting, Michael, 'cause you do next week. Traditionally on the on in the pool, we've noticed this, the trend is like whoever wins that week, the next week they just tank. Like for whatever reason. speaker-1: They tank. speaker-2: Ryan that high. speaker-0: We told it to Dave Vera last week and he was like you could tell like he took it as a challenge. He's like, no, I'm gonna show these guys up and and then he messaged us halfway through. He's like, Yep, you're right. I bombed speaker-2: Well you know a bomb's coming. Yeah, you can't get it twice. speaker-0: So we used to what we would do is like after the picks went live, we would just go look at the picks and we would go like bet live on them against a against them because we knew that like they just they had an amazing week last week and they're probably trying to replicate it and it just it just doesn't work like that with speaker-2: I'll think about it, but I I think for that many people you guys are doing it right. speaker-0: Yeah, the flip it's good. The other Mike, I think you're gonna get to it. Go ahead. The other suggestion. which is looking at the odds. So you can see in the pool like how many the percentage wise. And just bec because people are not really good at picking with the spread, we just literally go the opposite. Yeah. And so you go with like it's say like this game right here, the Cowboys and Bucks on Thursday, the the thirty two percent of the pool is picking. the Buccaneers and 68% is picking the Cowboys. So we would automatically pick the Buccaneers. And speaker-2: the bucks, feed the public and yeah. speaker-0: but speaker-1: Yeah, it's it. speaker-0: the thing is is like you like I think you could do that. You just can't do it on every single one. Like you we couldn't, you know, and then does it make it worth it for the the whole pool. if we had more money it would make it worth it. Like if we had right if it was like a hundred dollars that we were doing each week because we had that much left over in the pot, then that would make speaker-1: I was thinking speaker-2: Because that's what I'm thinking that too, like spread it out, take less games and but make them more, but speaker-0: Money. speaker-2: then you can't spread it out over eighteen weeks, so you would have to like pick and choose which week. It's tough. So speaker-1: Or the squad. speaker-0: Pod ride is like a every other week. Right, right. And now you can add a little more to it. speaker-2: You know, pay fifteen bucks for you know, six games, seven games instead of the whole slate or I don't know. speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-2: Yeah, yeah. speaker-1: Yeah, I think I mean look, you could poke you could poke holes in any strategy, right? I think everyone needs to know that it's it's a it's a lottery ticket and it's obviously way better like odds in a lottery. So like yeah, I don't know. It's fun. speaker-2: No. speaker-0: I like you. speaker-1: Like to yeah, we we we like to give, you know, options and understand what people like. I think we're gonna adjust as we go along, but honestly, dude, we've been going up every single time every single week. It's been six wins, seven wins, nine wins. And now it's been nine wins again. wait, did we win last night or no? We gotta check now because speaker-0: We picked we picked the Saints. Saints. Yeah. All right. So speaker-1: Okay. speaker-0: that was the only thank God. But thank God. No, because that was no, that was nine. We had nine. But thank God, because we were like if we would have had all of them correct and go into that one, we actually chose that one. That was the only game we chose. Remember, we're like we flipped the coin and we were speaker-1: Classic. speaker-0: like, speaker-2: Scenes. speaker-0: Could you imagine we're going into Monday night and we picked that one wrong? Like literally everybody would be so upset. speaker-1: See the thing, see the thing is with that is like if we ever really got to that point, we would like need to communicate with people to say like hey, you speaker-0: You can speaker-1: can hedge and yeah, guarantee yourself money. Like this is how you do it. speaker-0: Yeah, exactly. A lot of people don't know how. speaker-1: geez man. speaker-0: Mike, how what like when you won, who's the first person you call? You know, is it Julia? Is it are you waking up, waking her up? Are you are you call are you texting your brother? Who's who you rocking? Who you text? speaker-2: I texted Bobby, Pete, and my yeah, my brother. Right away. I just told Julia, she's like, I was like, I gotta go on a podcast. She's like, What what I what happened? And then I told her, how much you win? How much you win? speaker-0: Well I guess the next obvious question is what are you gonna do with the money? Is is it is it going to speaker-2: good, we're going we're going out Thursday now. speaker-1: Yeah, exactly. speaker-0: Good. Nice nice chunk of change. That's speaker-2: Yeah. speaker-0: awesome, man. That's awesome. speaker-1: Dude, I love that. I love that. Well look, it's a tradition on the podcast. It's our last question. what is your victory song of the week? This song should represent your performance from this week, and I'm sure it's gonna be a good one. speaker-2: think I yeah I thought about this one I you know I'm usually like a Drake guy I'm a rap guy but I like her heard a song it reminds me of my daughter 'cause she's she always like smiles and laughs there and it's like a happy song like Walking on Walking on a Dream by Empire Empire of the Sun. It's just like a blasting speaker-1: Love that. speaker-2: blasting in the car with the windows down. Like you cannot be in a bad mood. Listen to that. And speaker-1: Some speaker-2: We're we're all walking out a dream. We're here, we're living, we're breathing, we're speaker-0: That's right. speaker-2: you know, you know, and we're blessed to be here. So we are walking on a dream. That's my song. speaker-1: Dude speaker-0: Good. speaker-1: I love that pick. I can't tell that's literally one of my favorite songs, I'm not gonna lie to you. yeah, you're right. Like you put that song on and you really can't be upset. and you're right. It's a lot of blessings in this life, so lots to be grateful for. speaker-0: Dude, thanks for speaker-1: Mike, thank you so much, man. Congrats again. Yeah, love you too, brother. we'll talk, dude. Hopefully we get to see speaker-0: See you back to back. speaker-1: man. You gotta do it. If anyone can do it, it's you. I know that. speaker-2: I hope to be back soon. speaker-0: We gotta we all gotta get together and watch the game, man. We're not far from each other. I was gonna I was gonna call you last night. I was gonna be like, it's hatch. I call Mike and tell him to come over. speaker-1: Mike. speaker-2: Yeah, we gotta plan like yeah, if we plan it ahead of time, tell the wives then we'll we'll we'll get on the books. speaker-0: Absolutely. Watch party for sure you have to come to. we're gonna get the whole pool together this this year. We gotta get that on the books. speaker-2: Sounds good. speaker-0: All right, man. Thank you. Best of luck next week. speaker-1: Yeah. Well thanks again. We'll talk. It was his Man. Dude, he's honestly. Matt and speaker-0: Yeah, we might. speaker-1: Chu Matt and Chelsea are lucky, dude. They're lucky. He's he's one of honestly, genuinely one of the best people I've ever met. He is like so good hearted. he always has like anyone's back who's with him. He's always there. He's dependable. Yeah, I I mean I can't say enough good things about that guy. He he's just He really is a good good person, through and through. speaker-0: Want him in my corner. speaker-1: That's right. And great name, honestly. So speaker-0: That's right. Doesn't hurt. We all share that name. speaker-1: All right, we'll get into it. speaker-0: let's get into week four slate. There's a lot to talk about here. And we gotta start off with Thursday night football. A little rematch. Not rematch. It's a division game. but Aaron Rodgers and the Browns last year, it I think they called it the the senior bowl. It was Joe Flacco last time. not this time, but another great game. Came down to the wire. twenty seven Browns, twenty four Steelers. speaker-1: That's it, man. The Browns are they're really showing up. I I have to look at back at exactly who they've played up to date, but I feel like they are They're out kicking their coverage a little right now. Let's see. Let's see. We got Jaguars they lost to. Jaguars are very good. So that's fair. Bucks they beat. Bucks suck. Panthers they beat. Panthers are good. speaker-0: Panthers are very good. Did they speaker-1: Panthers are they're deep. speaker-0: beat the Panthers at home? speaker-1: They beat the Panthers at home. speaker-0: They were at home. The Browns speaker-1: No, no. The Browns were at home. It was their first home game. Okay. And then they beat the Steelers, who I don't think is a good team. speaker-0: And they're mediocre. So where are they playing where are they playing this weekend? speaker-1: Met Life. New York Jets. we'll get into that. We will get into that. Let's go to the next game. We have our London nine thirty AM Eastern game. Colts versus the Commanders. Colts thirty. Commanders thirteen. What do you think? speaker-0: I had this was one of my favorite games. I think I got a little bit lucky here, but I did I I like to s I always say that if the backup quarterback comes in, they typically win that game, that first game back. and then the second game, because there's tape, yeah. they just whatever reason, they just don't do as well. And and the Colts won last year overseas. Like it seems like they're getting used to playing over there. I just thought those two variables in place, and then you get Mariota getting hurt. during the game I was just like, Okay. Like I I just felt they they were gonna win that game and they kinda d that's exactly what happened, they blew the doors open. Yeah. speaker-1: Yeah, yeah, I don't think there's any too much to add on that one. I think you covered it in in terms of the Colts kind of taking advantage of that third string quarterback. Hey, I'm interested to see what this guy has. tough game to come into. Obviously a full week of prep, so I guess we'll see how he goes. But wait, you did actually mention earlier that it's gonna be Daniels, right? Is he is he gonna play? speaker-0: Yeah, Dan they're saying Daniel's they're gonna suit up. Which honestly they're speaker-1: I say anything. speaker-0: at a disadvantage. It's a it's a it's a mistake to come back so quickly. speaker-1: I think so too. I mean the guy is just injury prone and w like, I don't know. I I guess like you wanna salvage the season as much as possible kind of thing, but what's their record now? They're not I mean they're not doing too much speaker-0: One and three, I think. And the Giants are three and one. speaker-1: One and three the speaker-0: Play next. speaker-1: cults. We got the cults. AFC the cults are two and two. speaker-0: No, no, not the Colts. I'm talking about the commanders. speaker-1: Okay. The commanders are they're speaker-0: One they're playing the Giants. Yep. speaker-1: Yep, one and three. I mean, yeah, you could argue that the division games is really what matters at the end of the day, but that they're not gonna make it anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter. dude. How about this game? Little battle royale here. speaker-0: Yeah, they went back and forth. But you know what? I actually really liked this game. 'cause it's just it was a very it was the backs against the walls and you're getting six and a half on a in the division game. speaker-1: Dude, six I can't believe that was and I don't know if this is the definitely hindsight bias, but like six points? That's ridiculous. Way too much, dude. Like so mad at myself. I think speaker-0: Actually, speaker-1: I picked them, but like still should've capitalized on that game a little more. yeah, backs against the wall and they needed to win. it's not like this guy just ends up being a bad coach out of nowhere. You know what I mean? These guys just went to the Super Bowl last year. Like, let's put this into perspective a little. speaker-0: Yeah. That that that was my where my mindset was too. next game, Jags versus Bengals. speaker-1: Jags versus Bengals. yeah, 22-17. I mean, look, the Jaguars keep pushing W's out. I think good teams find what good ways to win, and that's a hard environment to be in. They were in Cincinnati, you know? That crowd gets a little rowdy sometimes, and they were able to do it. I I think I think the Jaguars could go really far this year. I'm I'm pretty high on them, to be honest. Cause I'm 'Cause like not like you said earlier, like you start to look at each of the matchups and you're like, Okay, this actually makes sense. Like they've sure, they have a good record, but they've played nobody kind of thing. Like the Jaguars, I just feel like they're playing every game, they're doing what they're supposed to be doing. You know, like if it's a bad team, they're spanking them. If it's a tight matchup kind of thing, it's gonna be a tight matchup but they're gonna pull it out. You know, like these are speaker-0: They're gonna position themselves to win. speaker-1: the little nuggets that you see here and there kind of thing. So speaker-0: Duval County. Very he's popping at the moment. G Man versus Cardinals. We talked a little bit about this with Michael, but speaker-1: I mean to me this was sick the the last play, the pick six to end the game. I mean speaker-0: Yeah, yeah, and and they and they stopped him several times too. Yeah, I mean obviously it was closer to than than the score says. but still that they everyone had the Cardinals picked in this game. No one's putting respect on for John Harbaugh, and I I feel like they that people need you know, give the Giants a little bit of credit. speaker-1: Yeah, I mean Mike's right though. what did he say before? He was saying speaker-0: Into the easy schedule. speaker-1: Yes, the schedule early on is definitely in their favor. I wonder how this is gonna change going forward. I think a lot of people are getting hyped. And like as they should, right? Three and one, you're leading a division. I would be through the roof if that was the Jets. but let's see. Let's not, you know, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Let's just say that. Next game, Baltimore's twenty four, Titans eighteen. I feel like the score doesn't really tell the story in this game. Like I just feel like the Ravens like you knew they were gonna win. You know what I mean? speaker-0: I know, but it was supposed to be by thirteen and a half. Eleven and a half. Eleven and a half. Probably were up twenty-one to seven, I believe, at one point. speaker-1: I think you're right. speaker-0: after that. I just sometimes I just I don't understand the Ravens and Lamar Jackson. Yeah. I just like, man, they're dominant and then you're like, what the heck is that? They've blown leads. They bl it's almost like they get up to the lead and then they kind of like play passive. speaker-1: Totally, totally. I'm with you on that. Like they've never gone into a season and dominated every game like they should. Or it's speaker-0: Feels like a very long time ago they did it. speaker-1: And to me it's like, how do you contain Lamar, dude? speaker-2: Like I just speaker-1: I don't it's really hard. I I mean clearly it happens every year. And when we see it, I'm like, damn, he's he's human. You know, like he he makes like that one mistake or he throws that one pass. You're like, damn, like you were you played literally perfect the entire game and just that one pass. I mean, look, we we should, you know, correct ourselves in certain places. Like last year, they had it, dude. Mark Andrews just drops the ball at the end. That was speaker-2: Yes. yeah. speaker-1: devastated. speaker-0: I would be scared to walk him in Baltimore, man. That was him. speaker-1: Yeah, that was that was a real tough one. next matchup we got the Rams twenty four, Eagles twenty. How about this game? Oof. Dude. speaker-0: Yeah. Cross country game. This was looking like a blowout for a while there. speaker-1: Yeah, I mean very notable though, Saquon out injured. He was out for pretty much the entire game. I don't know how long it's gonna be, but like dude, he's he's been dealing with a lot of injuries this year, and I think that obviously like impacted the game, you know, not having your best running back and arguably one of the best in the league. to me, the Eagles They've done this in the past. I I I think like it's not I don't think they're gonna win. I think the media is going insane about what's happening. Like, I don't think they're that bad. but these injuries are gonna start adding up and I I I just don't know if they're they're able to kind of continue the momentum that they've had in in the past, really, at this point. speaker-0: We're giving Siriani a a l a hard time too, so I wonder if he's playing RC. speaker-1: This guy's gone to the Super Bowl twice. speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-1: You kind of can't say anything to a coach that's got like, I just don't get it. And they give hurt such a hard time too, dude. Like sure, he has like some games, I'm like, but the guy wins, like speaker-0: I I don't I don't get that one either, man. Hurts, yeah. I I feel like it when I go to stat music I ever I pull this stuff up, I'm like, this dude's got a career home record of like speaker-1: Yeah, he's ridiculous. And like let's be honest, Rams have to come back to win this game. It's not like they like won this outright. So speaker-0: Yup. One fifteen and one at home in his career. speaker-1: Thirty one fifteen and one. I mean that's a sick record. speaker-0: Come on, that's t that's very difficult. speaker-1: Green Bay Packers seventeen. Tampa Bay Bucks 14. The Bucks are in trouble, dude. The Bucks are in very big trouble here. speaker-0: For a lot of OM four teams, man. speaker-1: yeah. speaker-0: yeah. speaker-1: Surprising teams too in there. We got let's see. Dolphins, not surprising. Chargers, incredibly surprising. Texans. Dude, the Texans are 0-4. If someone would have told me that they were gonna be 0-4, I would have said that they were absolutely lying, they're full of shit, because there's zero, zero chance that that would be the case. But here we are. Titans 0-4. Salah is not a head coach, bro. speaker-0: Yeah, it's showing up. speaker-1: Sometimes sometimes you gotta just accept your position. speaker-0: Table. speaker-1: Like what's wrong with that? Just do your thing and be a defensive quarter and be a defensive quarter on a on a Super Bowl team. Like what is the big deal? speaker-0: That's what's gonna be that's very clear. speaker-1: And then the Buccaneers, their own four. I mean, look, you could argue that they didn't have Baker and they had to start an undrafted free agent quarterback, which the guy actually looked pretty solid. At the end of the day, he only lost to the Packers by three points, like speaker-0: Who's your who's the best OM four team, you think? speaker-1: Who's the best own four team? I mean the Texans. speaker-0: By far, right? speaker-1: Yeah, by far. I mean that I think that's an easy one. I think the Chargers are I think the Chargers are really bad. I think there's something like really wrong there. Actually, you know what's kind of crazy? Remember Adam Gase? speaker-0: Mm-hmm. Yeah, he's the he's the play caller, right? Offensive speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-0: player I think he's the offensive play caller now. speaker-1: I don't think so. You mean like Dolphins coordinator? Nah, Mike McDaniels, the head coach of the the Dolphins. Yeah. Who was the Dolphins? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Fucking crazy. speaking about the Dolphins, Vikings 15, Dolphins 10. speaker-0: They haven't scored more than thirteen points in a game this season. speaker-1: Who the dog? speaker-0: God. Yeah. That's how you like with with this you were praying for some defense 'cause in order for them to cover this one. speaker-1: But what does that say about the Vikings? speaker-0: Exactly. Exactly. And what is it look so good before we spread the Vikings spread for this upcoming week? One in the speaker-1: Yeah, one and a half, right? speaker-0: against the undefeated Vikings against the Saints. Just got embarrassed. Very speaker-1: Very interesting folks. speaker-0: interesting. We are we are going with the Saints. speaker-1: Yeah. I'm not gonna even hesitate on this one. Not gonna hesitate on that one. Kansas City Chiefs thirty, Raiders twenty seven, game of the week. speaker-0: Told you guys this is not the your your dad's Raiders look. This is Grandpa's Raiders. Yeah, grandpa's Raid. This is a division game. They always play tougher on that one. yes, Mahomes does own the Raiders. I think he's like nine and something like that. Maybe he's now ten and in in against the Raiders in his career. Scrap it out the window. You gotta go with the spread. What was the spread? I think it was four and a half. it wa it I loved it. I loved it it they got in, you know, throw a little sprinkler anything on the money line, but I I thought that that was and they were they I they were competing the entire time. That was I speaker-1: We're competing the entire time. speaker-0: think there was an interception at the very end there by cousins. speaker-1: But he kinda had to. There was really no other like. speaker-0: Yeah, it's little bit yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It was one of those like long shots, you gotta do it. I like the Raiders. I like the Raiders a lot. I almost speaker-1: I like the Raiders too. I don't think it's the same one. same Raiders. I really don't. I think they're they're really competing and it's showing. So yeah, honestly I'm rooting for them. I I hope they do their thing. What's kinda wild, a little side nugget is I think reporters are pretty much saying that Tyreek Hill is gonna join the Chiefs again. speaker-0: Yeah, I saw that. Union. They're the Chiefs are really putting themselves in a position to be there again. This I you know, Patty Mahomes is trying to cement a legacy here and he needs another trip to the to the Super Bowl, so speaker-1: They look good, man. They look good. I just and dude, Kenneth Walker was such a big ad for them. Guy's a fucking monster. speaker-0: Another yeah, that was that actually might have propelled them to go there. speaker-1: Easily. speaker-0: 'cause it just opens up the pass game. speaking of another great team this year that I I just I you can argue that the number one team in in the league is the Far 49ers. speaker-1: Definitely. Definitely. Twenty four to fourteen to the Broncos. Yeah, I mean they're just they're showing up. They're showing up every game. They're doing what they're supposed to be doing. in Denver, that's a really hard game to win. speaker-0: No, it wasn't in Denver. It it was it was in San Francisco. speaker-1: In San Fran. Okay, sorry. On our on our tracker, it has him on the left hand side. Usually the right hand side is home. that's interesting. yeah, I mean, honestly, one of the plays that stuck out to me was when Kittle ran for that touchdown. It was like a sixty plus yard touchdown. Dude, he hit like just under twenty miles per hour. speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-1: He just tore his Achilles like like not even a year ago, Pete. Literally not twelve months ago. speaker-0: impressive. I'm looking at their thing. They've they beat the Rams. They beat the Dolphins and the Cardinals, which is not the most impressive thing. but I will say this they didn't have a letdown 'cause that was a beating the Rams. They weren't supposed to beat the Rams. Then they flew all the way back from Australia. And then you go play you go play the Dolphins. Like that's a really big letdown game. It's early in the year, so maybe not. Maybe you're still pumped up and you're playing a bad team that the way you would play a a a bad team that you maybe there's speaker-1: But speaker-0: And they you know, I I just I thought they people really liked the Broncos this week and I just didn't like it at all and and I'm happy that the Fort Niners took care of business. speaker-1: Yeah. Yeah. I I mean, but it's interesting that you say that though, because now I'm thinking like would they have won that first game if Miles Garrett doesn't get hurt, if they don't go so late to Australia? So that's one two games they played nobody, and the Broncos was their first real test. And I think the Broncos have gone down this year versus last year. So like maybe that's speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-1: good. I mean, look, I think they're really good, but like let's see. Let's see. I want to see it tested a little more. speaker-0: Yep, I agree. I agree with you. speaker-1: Seahawks, Chargers. Seahawks thirty, Chargers twenty-three. the Chargers aren't good, man. I don't think the score year is telling the real story. I think they made a couple bad mistakes during that. Justin Herbert was battling, man. I I will give him that. but he gets a lot of slack, dude. basically what the rumors that are going around now is like you can get Herbert at a discount if you just trade. Like specifically. So like obviously they were talking about the Jets potentially getting him and all these other things. And I'm like I don't know how to feel. I really just don't know how to feel. Like maybe a a change of scenery would help for him at this point, but like it I just get so stuck and hung up in it. speaker-0: Herbert, I feel like yeah, I feel like New York. If you can't do well with a harbor coach like I don't know. speaker-1: Yeah, but everyone keeps saying that. It's like look, he's he's the different Harbaugh, right? Sure, he's had success in college. I just I don't know. I don't know. It's like it's easy to go down that route. You know, like let let's see it. Prove it to me, and then we'll kinda you know, we'll talk then. But that's how I feel. I think the Chargers are they might be the last team to get a W. speaker-0: Really? Yeah. Dude, the dolphins are the dolphins are really bad. But speaker-1: Dude, the Dolphins play hard still. speaker-0: They're they're they're they're playing hard and they're only scoring thirteen, Mike. The most. The most games they scored only ten. speaker-1: No, they're bad, Pete. They're they're they're very bad. They're gonna have the number one pick. They're gonna have the number one pick and it's like speaker-2: man. speaker-0: Panthers, Lions, man. The Panthers showed up. It showed up. The this doesn't indicate how they played. They and when they're playing at home, it's just like it's like a party, man, Carolina. speaker-1: You know what? I saw a stat on Detroit Lions defense and not good. It was just a graph, actually. And it was showing like where we are through four four weeks. And for the statistics, defense, offense, like where they land kind of thing. And defense wise, they're literally at the bottom. Like they were the worst. I was like, man. So speaker-0: So like you're saying, like maybe overstated how well. But they play well at home. That's the bottom line. Carolina Panthers play well at home and I just think that they just compete well. and and Bryce Young is just playing at a high level. I just I I like them. I like them a lot. speaker-1: I do like them too. Shout out to Strange. speaker-0: I Yeah. yeah. Shout out to to Mark Strange. speaker-1: He's been rocking the the black and baby blue shoes, shirts, everything for a minute, so speaker-0: I'm in it now. They are fresh cards. Monday night football. We talked about this before, man. Disappointing with New Orleans. Everyone I'm sure is really, really upset. That was the twenty year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina game and emotional emotional pregame to it and they just didn't show up for for the city, which is sad. That speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-0: they would at least compete. speaker-1: Yeah, I mean, look, I think you can argue that this is a world bet, right? The world was on the Saints, Falcons come in and they have a lot to prove, you know. they're they're wanting to go on a little streak here, new coach. They feel like they're getting a little momentum after the win last week. I mean, you you can argue that the writing was on the wall there a little. and the Saints keep fighting, sure, which is great for them, right? Like a good fight. good fighting team is what you want to see. But if you can't get a W at the end of the day, then that's all that matters. You know? speaker-0: That's all that matters, dude. All right. That was our week four recap. Now it's two. I was the speaker-1: It's close. speaker-0: That's it. speaker-1: We heard this close. Were you gonna go first? speaker-0: yes. My mine, I mentioned this earlier was the Ravens versus the Titans. Derrick Henry's first game back against his team, or his first time playing against his team, former team. And I thought he was gonna have at least five touchdowns. and they were up twenty one and seven. They may have been up even more. I'm trying to find the game here to just really illustrate how bad of a thing 'cause it they were on their it looked like they were just gonna cover this pretty easily. speaker-1: Easily, yeah. I remember during the game I was like, shit, like 'cause I was I was I was like I was looking back at her live for the squad ride and I like, damn, I was giving you shit for that one. but then classic. speaker-0: Twenty four to seven. They had twenty they didn't score any points in the second half. speaker-1: That's wild. speaker-0: twenty four to seven. That's how does that happen? speaker-1: I won't close. speaker-0: Not not even a field goal? Bring Justin Tucker back. Mm-hmm. speaker-1: Shit. I mean, if he can't land a job with the Jets, then we got some real issues. My this close was the Raiders. damn, that was real unfortunate, man. That 20 to 17. I think they if they pull out that game, if they pull out that game, Vegas is on fire. That's number one. And these guys will have some real momentum going into rest the games this year. So I I think they're just waiting. The obviously the fan base is waiting. Three and one is nothing to sneeze at. You know? Like you gotta think like I'm three and one after losing that game and I'm still ready to go. I just lost to the Chiefs who look very Super Bowl bound. I don't know. If I'm the Raiders I'm feeling real good, man. So that's that's I was this close segment there, folks. Let's go to the Locks and Hill Marys. Yes, sir. So week four. speaker-0: Little recap. speaker-1: Little recap. Pedro with the lock of the week. Ravens minus eleven. That's wrong. Peter with the long shot. Browns plus two and a half. speaker-0: Bing bing bing bing bing bing bing bing bing. speaker-1: I love it. my lock of the week was Seattle, seven and a half. Lose by a hooker. Gotta love that. Unfrickin' real. And then long shot jets. I mean, what do we say about the Jets? speaker-0: Dude, the jets have been letting you down big time. In the pool and in real life. speaker-1: Yeah, I'm I mean we skipped them in the recap, but there's really not much to say at this point. I think Ben Johnson, I guess you're going against an elite offense, so there is one little piece there and that they didn't really score that much points if you actually break it down. Like they could have scored they should have scored way more points than they didn't. So I mean, if you're gonna take any nugget out of that game, that's what you take, but you wanna talk about coaches that are on the hot seat. I think Aaron He's on the hot seat, I think. speaker-0: Only reason why I think they might have a chance this week is that they want to play for their coach. speaker-1: They do like him. They like him a lot. So I could totally see that happening as well. so yeah, that that leaves our updated records at Pete, four and four, five hundred. There speaker-0: Five hundred. All right. speaker-1: you go. And Pedro or Bones. No bueno at two and six. Wah wah wah. speaker-0: All right, kids, step it up. Let's go. There's a lot of season left. Yes. Fade but the this is the fade bros segment, so feel free to fade us. This is this is what what you should do. We're giving you the keys the the answers to the tests here. All right. Lock of the week. Lock of the week, week five. Get your pencils out. Sharpen 'Cause this is gonna be your lock. The Raiders plus three and a half. speaker-1: Whoa, that's your luck? speaker-0: My lock against the patriots. speaker-1: That's a bold lock, dude. speaker-0: Patriots haven't been playing well. What are they gonna be good? We're gonna over we're gonna we're this is a great situation. The Raiders just lost a game that they potentially could have won. And the Patriots just won a game. And before that, they weren't playing well. I love it. You give we're getting the maximum value here. So three and a half. I think they will compete. And I can see even if the Patriots do win, we win on a hook. I love. I love it. speaker-1: Like the logic. Logic makes sense. speaker-0: My long shot of the week. I'm going back to the Saints. I love the Saints this past week. I know it's a short week for them. I know. But that line when it smells like Provolone. You typically speaker-1: Thank you. speaker-0: gotta leave it alone, but not today. Not today, people. All right. Plus one and a half. The New Orleans Saints book it for your long shot. The Vikings get their first loss. They are not good. speaker-1: They are not good. Dude, but three and a half to the Broncos Chargers, that's not fishy. I mean I guess their home their home dog, that's that's that's pretty bad. speaker-0: I think the I think that's actually kind of appropriate. Broncos we don't really love. They're okay. Maybe they beat up on the bad teams. I get it. speaker-1: Yeah, you're right. This week's hard too, Pete. speaker-0: Weeks hard, dude. I was looking at it. The lines are tough. speaker-1: Real tough. Okay. Give me a second here. I'm just gonna look through real quick. speaker-0: You're not doing the homework. speaker-1: But gotta go to your gut. speaker-0: Go with your gut. This is gonna be your undefeated week. Let's go. speaker-1: Undefeated weak. Here we go, Galaxy. Here we go. speaker-0: Mm-hmm. speaker-1: Okay. It is a divisional game. Daniels, I think, is g being rushed back. I got the Giants plus three and a half for my lock of the week. You got me? All speaker-0: Mm-hmm. speaker-1: right. Put it on the sheet please. And my long shot of the week. Long shot of the week. Long shot of the week is gonna be Call me crazy. speaker-0: Tennessee Titans plus seven and a half. I know you liked it. speaker-1: They look bad to it. They look so speaker-0: Bad. speaker-1: Like what do we tell like it's dude, it's every week. Every week you just forget and you're like, like we were talking about earlier. If it's a high spread, then you just gotta go with it kind of thing, but it's fucking classic. long shot, long shot. It's a long shot for a reason. I'm gonna go Cardinals plus four and a half against the Lions. I don't think the Lions have been too good. I'm gonna stand by that. I think they're gonna look at this game and what do you always say? You play up to your competition, you play down to your competition. It's just a natural thing. Cardinals at our are at home. And and I think Brissett's pretty good, dude. He's not bad. speaker-0: Dude, the Cardinals aren't playing bad. I think they play some tough teams. I love that pick. Four and a half at home against the Lions, who just like we don't even know like who they are, what they're doing, like speaker-1: Agreed. Agreed. Their defense is horrible too. speaker-0: defense is not yeah. This is that's great speaker-1: Horrible. speaker-0: great I'm I'm I'm kinda jealous of your pick. speaker-1: There it goes. There it is. That's why you just look at the matchups and go. speaker-0: We'll see. We'll see what the record if it benefits your record next week. speaker-1: Love it, love it, love it, man. Well, look, that's gonna do it for episode four, season two of Fourth and Media Podcast. Congratulations, Mike. You are the winner. Thank you so much for coming on. Thank you so much for being you. Don't ever change. shout out to the CT crew. we definitely need a drink together for show. We gotta get that in the calendar, Pete. Let's let's prioritize that. But a clean 1,000 and he tipped your boys, so remember that. I'm Kamish Bones. That's Commish Poppy. We're headed to the locker room. Remember, it's not just football here, folks. It's La Familia. Until next week. speaker-0: Yes.
