- 0:00Speaker 1: Good morning, and welcome to the Lee Elsey Show, Voice
- 0:04Speaker 1: of Freedom on 94.9 FM. And I'm Marty Olson, pinch-hitting
- 0:11Speaker 1: for the great Lee Elsey. And I'm looking forward to
- 0:14Speaker 1: opening the Friday morning for you for the first hour.
- 0:19Speaker 1: And we've got a lot going on in many different areas.
- 0:24Speaker 1: So we'll open up with a little high school stuff.
- 0:28Speaker 1: We've got high school football coming up this evening with
- 0:32Speaker 1: Robert E. Fitch from visiting the Wailing City in London
- 0:38Speaker 1: at 6.30 in the evening. And I anticipate a pretty
- 0:44Speaker 1: fiery contest between the two schools on either side of
- 0:48Speaker 1: the Thames River. And I'm looking forward to attending the
- 0:52Speaker 1: game tonight. London football is back under the tutelage of
- 0:57Speaker 1: Coach Jack Cochran. And he's got the Whalers off to
- 1:01Speaker 1: a 4-0 start. And they've been winning pretty handily. I
- 1:05Speaker 1: believe Fitch will be a bit stiffer competition. But we'll see.
- 1:10Speaker 1: That's where they play the games, as they say. And
- 1:13Speaker 1: that's at Cannon Mellow Field, and looking forward to that.
- 1:17Speaker 1: I'd also like to extend a big thank you to
- 1:21Speaker 1: Lee and the station for their support of the New
- 1:24Speaker 1: London Kiwanis Club's annual golf tournament. This past September, we
- 1:29Speaker 1: had our annual tournament over Shenokasit, and it was very successful.
- 1:33Speaker 1: We raised a net of over $ 25, 000, and all of
- 1:39Speaker 1: that goes back into the community and helps to support
- 1:41Speaker 1: our scholarship program. endowment and each year we were able
- 1:45Speaker 1: to award three three thousand dollar scholarships to graduating high
- 1:52Speaker 1: school seniors and that's kind of our signature program and
- 1:55Speaker 1: we're very proud of that so for those folks who
- 1:58Speaker 1: participated and contributed helped out we really want to thank
- 2:02Speaker 1: you and thank lee especially for all he does for
- 2:06Speaker 1: us and uh what else do we got going on
- 2:11Speaker 1: here well My goodness, it's election time. So we've got
- 2:18Speaker 1: local elections for state offices. We've got congressional. We've got governor.
- 2:26Speaker 1: And we've got the national midterms. So there's an awful
- 2:29Speaker 1: lot going on, an awful lot at stake, I might add.
- 2:33Speaker 1: And I'm very interested in what you out there might
- 2:37Speaker 1: have to say, what you're concerned about. and where you
- 2:40Speaker 1: think things are going. But if you'd like to call in,
- 2:43Speaker 1: we are at 860-464-9490. So please feel free to give
- 2:51Speaker 1: us a call. I enjoy the banter and to get
- 2:55Speaker 1: what you're thinking about. But at the election level, I'd
- 3:02Speaker 1: like to just kind of give you an overview of
- 3:05Speaker 1: some of the races today. Here in southeastern Connecticut for
- 3:10Speaker 1: the 39th District in the state, we've got John Russell
- 3:15Speaker 1: taking out incumbent Anthony Nolan. And John has run for
- 3:19Speaker 1: office before. And he runs Homer Bound Treasures in downtown
- 3:24Speaker 1: New London, also a member of the Kiwanis Club. And
- 3:29Speaker 1: I think that he brings a level of savvy with him.
- 3:35Speaker 1: His business background, he's also a Navy vet, worked in engineering.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Excuse me. And I think he brings a set of
- 3:45Speaker 1: skills that would be well served up in Hartford. So
- 3:50Speaker 1: I think he's merited to give him a good look.
- 3:52Speaker 1: If you get a chance to talk to him, I
- 3:54Speaker 1: think you'll be impressed. And quite frankly, the incumbent, I
- 4:01Speaker 1: don't know if he's ever initiated any... legislation. He's on
- 4:06Speaker 1: Facebook a lot, but I'm not necessarily sure if that's
- 4:13Speaker 1: the place that we need our representatives. I'd like to
- 4:18Speaker 1: see him out and about. And where I live in
- 4:23Speaker 1: the southern part of New London, we've got Isabel Rood.
- 4:27Speaker 1: She's taking on incumbent Daniel... Gajewski, I guess that's how
- 4:33Speaker 1: you pronounce his last name. I've never met the gentleman.
- 4:36Speaker 1: I find that fascinating. A gentleman such as myself, who's
- 4:40Speaker 1: active out and about, hasn't met my state rep.
- 4:47Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Maybe he only travels in Democratic circles. Ms. Rood has
- 4:54Speaker 1: been working very hard. She's quite young. She's 17. She'll
- 4:59Speaker 1: be 18 before the election. She's a senior at Fitch
- 5:02Speaker 1: High School. And I think, again, she's bringing a breath
- 5:07Speaker 1: of fresh air into the campaign. She's working very, very hard.
- 5:11Speaker 1: And if you have an opportunity to speak to her,
- 5:13Speaker 1: I think you'll be impressed. And you may want to
- 5:17Speaker 1: give her the opportunity and give her a vote. She's
- 5:20Speaker 1: well worth consideration. And Another race that I think is
- 5:26Speaker 1: going to be interesting is incumbent, and this is on
- 5:30Speaker 1: this side of the river, with Heather Summers, state senate.
- 5:35Speaker 1: She's being challenged by former state rep Joe Delacruz. And
- 5:41Speaker 1: I think Heather's record speaks for itself. She's been a
- 5:44Speaker 1: terrific senator, representative of her region and beyond. and she's
- 5:51Speaker 1: a wealth of knowledge and knows how government works, and
- 5:56Speaker 1: she's able to do a terrific job from a minority position,
- 6:02Speaker 1: and I... If I lived on this side of the river,
- 6:06Speaker 1: she'd get my vote, that's for sure. And one of
- 6:09Speaker 1: my favorites over in Waterford, Doc Foley, who's a regular
- 6:13Speaker 1: guest here on the program, I've had him on my
- 6:16Speaker 1: television program a couple of times on City Focus, and.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Here's a gentleman who really, really is passionate about what
- 6:29Speaker 1: he's doing, why he's running. He'll talk to anybody. He's accessible.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Quite frankly, he's almost like the ideal candidate. The guy
- 6:44Speaker 1: is going door to door. He's hit thousands of doors.
- 6:48Speaker 1: And I've gotten feedback from friends I have in the
- 6:52Speaker 1: Waterford area where he has sauntered up their front door
- 6:57Speaker 1: and rang the bell and had an opportunity to converse
- 7:00Speaker 1: with his potential constituents. And feedback I'm getting has been
- 7:07Speaker 1: extraordinarily favorable. And I think that we will, he'll do
- 7:13Speaker 1: a terrific job giving the opportunity to serve. So I'm
- 7:16Speaker 1: encouraging folks who, when you go out to vote, if
- 7:21Speaker 1: you have already voted, I guess we've got early voting
- 7:23Speaker 1: going on, but Election Day is on November 3rd, and
- 7:27Speaker 1: I sincerely hope that the results come in the evening
- 7:31Speaker 1: of November 3rd, and we're not going to wait a
- 7:33Speaker 1: week or two for Bruce Fork to come in, as
- 7:36Speaker 1: they say, to manipulate the final tallies. And we've also
- 7:43Speaker 1: got our statewide offices, and we've got.
- 7:49Speaker 1: The governor, which is the top job in Connecticut. And
- 7:53Speaker 1: we've got the incumbent, Ned Lamont, who's seeking a third term.
- 7:59Speaker 1: I'm not sure what he's done to merit that, but
- 8:05Speaker 1: we'll see. And he's being challenged by Ryan Fazio from Greenwich.
- 8:09Speaker 1: And I've met Ryan a couple of times, most recently
- 8:13Speaker 1: at a function over in Flanders, at Flanders Fish Restaurant,
- 8:19Speaker 1: And he's a sharp guy, and I think that given
- 8:23Speaker 1: the opportunity, he would be a breath of fresh air
- 8:26Speaker 1: and good change for the state of Connecticut. I find
- 8:32Speaker 1: that the incumbent, Lamont seems to just play follow the leader,
- 8:39Speaker 1: whatever California and New York are doing. That seems to
- 8:43Speaker 1: be where he takes his cues as opposed to... What
- 8:48Speaker 1: may be in the best interest of the state of
- 8:50Speaker 1: Connecticut is just following what these guys are doing. And,
- 8:53Speaker 1: you know, those two states are significantly larger than we
- 8:56Speaker 1: are and have different issues. You'd think that we could
- 8:59Speaker 1: have a little independent thought. And I think if we
- 9:04Speaker 1: make a change, that might be. It's also been, for many,
- 9:08Speaker 1: kind of the downfall of that third term. So give
- 9:13Speaker 1: that some consideration as well. And in that discussion, I
- 9:17Speaker 1: might add two gentlemen who I thoroughly enjoy listening to
- 9:21Speaker 1: and one in particular who I have often on my
- 9:27Speaker 1: own public access television program, Tony D'Angelo, better known as
- 9:32Speaker 1: Tony D here on the station. The issues that he
- 9:36Speaker 1: brings up along with Bob Swick, I think are critical
- 9:43Speaker 1: and get very little attention. traction in the, if any traction,
- 9:49Speaker 1: quite frankly, in the mainstream media, that these guys are
- 9:53Speaker 1: scratching under the fingernails of what's going on in state
- 9:56Speaker 1: government and there's a level of corruption and it gets
- 10:01Speaker 1: absolutely no notice. And I find that it's really repugnant
- 10:06Speaker 1: to my senses and it ought to be to yours
- 10:10Speaker 1: and that we allow this to go on. I will
- 10:14Speaker 1: chide my brethren in the GOP because I don't see
- 10:18Speaker 1: or hear anything the incumbents, or very many of the candidates,
- 10:23Speaker 1: for that matter, were taking up the banner on these issues,
- 10:27Speaker 1: which are very, very serious, and making an issue out
- 10:33Speaker 1: of real, real issues. You know, at the national level,
- 10:38Speaker 1: you've got the level of corruption that's being ferreted out
- 10:41Speaker 1: in Minnesota and other places.
- 10:45Speaker 5: It really.
- 10:48Speaker 1: We can't in Oregon, here in Connecticut. We're too small.
- 10:51Speaker 1: We don't have the extra resources to absorb this level
- 10:57Speaker 1: of financial skullduggery. We really should be tackling it, making
- 11:03Speaker 1: an issue of it, and it should be pounded at
- 11:08Speaker 1: our state news stations on Channel 3 and Channel 30,
- 11:11Speaker 1: Channel 8, as well as the statewide periodicals of the
- 11:16Speaker 1: current here locally with the day, New Haven Register, Manchester Inquirer,
- 11:23Speaker 1: people have got to get the good, solid information and
- 11:30Speaker 1: get the facts and not have it just swept under
- 11:33Speaker 1: the rug. And I'd just like to remind you, you're
- 11:39Speaker 1: listening to the Lee Elsie Show. And we are 94.9.
- 11:45Speaker 1: And if you'd like to call in, and I would
- 11:46Speaker 1: love you to call in, please, here first thing in
- 11:48Speaker 1: the morning. Keep me on my toes at 860-464-9490. On that,
- 11:51Speaker 1: maybe we'd like to go into a commercial break, and
- 11:56Speaker 1: we'll be back in a moment.

- 18:02Speaker 1: Lee Elsie on 94.9 FM on your dial or a
- 18:07Speaker 1: digital platform. And today's forecast, we have sunny with a
- 18:15Speaker 1: high of 65 to 70. Tonight, mostly clear, low 40
- 18:18Speaker 1: to 45 degrees. Anybody who's going to be heading out
- 18:24Speaker 1: to a local football game, you may want to dress
- 18:28Speaker 1: appropriately for cooler temperatures. Tomorrow, mostly sunny, a high of
- 18:33Speaker 1: 65 to 70. Tomorrow night, increasing cloudiness with a low
- 18:37Speaker 1: near 45. Sunday, rain showers developing with a high near 65.
- 18:44Speaker 1: And Monday, more showers ending, becoming partly sunny with a
- 18:47Speaker 1: high of 65 to 70. Temperature seems to be pretty
- 18:52Speaker 1: constant over the next seven days here. Tuesday, partly sunny,
- 18:55Speaker 1: high near 70. Wednesday, mostly sunny with a high near 65.
- 19:00Speaker 1: And next Thursday, sunny with a high of 60 to 65.
- 19:06Speaker 1: So there's your forecast for the next seven days. And
- 19:10Speaker 1: we have a fundraising event coming up. East Limewater for
- 19:15Speaker 1: Animal Control. Meet the fluffy cows and other farm animal friends.
- 19:22Speaker 1: Sometimes heroes need us to wear the cape. This is
- 19:26Speaker 1: the 10th, which I think the 10th is tomorrow. It's
- 19:30Speaker 1: from 3 to 8. You've got food, raffles, live music.
- 19:34Speaker 1: It's the Sweet Serenity Center for Humane Education on 64
- 19:38Speaker 1: Shingle Mill Road in Salem. And let's see, tickets are $ 30,
- 19:44Speaker 1: two for $ 50. So come on down and help out
- 19:48Speaker 1: support a good cause there so we appreciate that and
- 19:52Speaker 1: it looks like we've got to hit the news at
- 19:54Speaker 1: the bottom of the hour so we'll come back shortly.
- 20:04Speaker 3: The devil went.
- 20:05Speaker 5: Down to Georgia.
- 20:06Speaker 19: He was looking for a soul to steal. He was
- 20:08Speaker 19: in a bind because he was way behind and he
- 20:09Speaker 19: was willing to make a deal. When he came across
- 20:12Speaker 19: this young man sewing on a fiddle and playing it hot,
- 20:14Speaker 19: and the devil jumped up on a hickory stump and said, Boy,
- 20:17Speaker 19: let me tell you what. I guess you didn't know it,
- 20:19Speaker 19: but I'm a fiddle player too. And if you'd care
- 20:22Speaker 19: to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you. Now,
- 20:25Speaker 19: you play pretty good fiddle, boy.
- 20:27Speaker 20: But give the devil.
- 20:30Speaker 7: Fox News, I'm CJ Papa.
- 20:31Speaker 22: Hurricane growing in size, making its final approach on the
- 20:34Speaker 22: southeast and the northern Gulf Coast. Fox Weather's Mike Lestame
- 20:37Speaker 22: in Mobile.
- 20:38Speaker 23: It is a rush to completion in terms of preparations,
- 20:43Speaker 23: not just here in downtown Mobile, but really along the
- 20:46Speaker 23: northern coast of the Gulf. And that's because Isaias, as
- 20:50Speaker 23: we speak right now, is only about 340 miles or
- 20:53Speaker 23: so south of where we are, and it is charging
- 20:56Speaker 23: toward the north.
- 20:57Speaker 7: Pensacola, Florida Mayor D.C. Reeves on Fox & Friends first.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Draining down ponds that we have pumps on.
- 21:03Speaker 14: That's cutting down limbs that look a little loose in parks.
- 21:06Speaker 7: This will be the first hurricane to strike the U.S.
- 21:08Speaker 7: mainland since Milton two years ago tomorrow.
- 21:11Speaker 11: Former U.N.

- 21:39Speaker 24: the salt air, feel the sand beneath your feet, and
- 21:41Speaker 24: wander moonlight.

- 24:52Speaker 12: house and homecoming remain unchanged. East Lime officials have voted

- 26:41Speaker 1: we did have a call come in, and we're still
- 26:44Speaker 1: on that. Welcome to the program.
- 26:49Speaker 35: Good morning. I'm here.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Good morning. How are you?
- 26:53Speaker 2: I am well.
- 26:53Speaker 35: This is Grace over in Groton.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Okay, Grace and Groton, how are you?
- 26:59Speaker 31: I'm well.
- 27:00Speaker 1: What's on your mind this morning?
- 27:02Speaker 14: Lots.
- 27:05Speaker 36: Well, you and me both.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Excuse me? You said lots. I said you and me
- 27:12Speaker 1: both have lots on our mind, but you're on, so
- 27:15Speaker 1: what do you got?
- 27:15Speaker 8: Who doesn't?
- 27:18Speaker 35: And what I've been meaning to say ever since.
- 27:26Speaker 35: Ever since Lee began running for— oh, I probably shouldn't say
- 27:30Speaker 35: his name, even though a certain.
- 27:32Speaker 1: Individual— Well, you're calling in. I think you've got a
- 27:35Speaker 1: more latitude than I do.
- 27:37Speaker 35: Okay, well, I like to be mindful of things.
- 27:43Speaker 1: Okay, so what— I like to live a balanced life.
- 27:48Speaker 35: I listen to NPR and the Lee Elsie Show.
- 27:52Speaker 1: Well, you've got good taste.
- 27:56Speaker 35: Excuse me?
- 27:57Speaker 1: You have good taste.
- 27:59Speaker 38: Thank you.
- 28:00Speaker 35: I like to think that I do. I think it's
- 28:04Speaker 35: beautiful the way so many people have stepped up to
- 28:10Speaker 35: the plate for ladies during this time. I just think
- 28:17Speaker 35: it's wonderful. And I have to say, I wasn't sure
- 28:23Speaker 35: what was going to happen when it came time to vote,
- 28:27Speaker 35: because I have great respect for Martha Martin. And I
- 28:32Speaker 35: also have great respect for Lee Elsie. I can only
- 28:35Speaker 35: vote for one person. And I didn't know what I was.
- 28:39Speaker 39: Going to do.
- 28:41Speaker 35: And then I realized, I live in Gorton. I can't
- 28:43Speaker 35: vote for either one of them.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Well, that's true. But you've got a good choice in
- 28:49Speaker 1: the incumbent Heather Summers.
- 28:52Speaker 35: I don't know Heather Summers, but I'm trying to acquaint
- 28:56Speaker 35: myself with the people who represent me here in Groton.
- 29:01Speaker 35: And I appreciate what I hear on this show to
- 29:04Speaker 35: educate me about what's going on around here and the
- 29:09Speaker 35: local views in my area where I live. NPR covers,
- 29:16Speaker 35: you know, a lot, the general, the state in general
- 29:21Speaker 35: and the country. But I like knowing what's going on
- 29:25Speaker 35: in my backyard and next door where that horrendous fire
- 29:28Speaker 35: was a few months ago, which I slept through. I
- 29:31Speaker 35: didn't even realize what was happening until the next day.
- 29:35Speaker 35: But that being said, I just want to. say thank you.
- 29:42Speaker 35: And I wish everyone a wonderful day. And keep up
- 29:47Speaker 35: the good work, all of you.
- 29:49Speaker 1: Thank you so much for calling and your positive remarks.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Thank you very much. And I wanted to share with
- 29:58Speaker 1: you that your local elected officials are the ones that
- 30:02Speaker 1: are closest to you and have the most impact on
- 30:05Speaker 1: your day-to-day life. Washington tends to get most of the air,
- 30:13Speaker 1: you might say, but it's your local counselors and selectmen
- 30:19Speaker 1: and offices at that level, state reps and state senators
- 30:23Speaker 1: that will have more bearing on your day-to-day life. And
- 30:27Speaker 1: it's important to keep an eye on them and what
- 30:28Speaker 1: they're doing and hold their feet to the fire. Okay.
- 30:37Speaker 1: Very good. Well, listen, thank you very much. And feel
- 30:41Speaker 1: free to call back next week when the program comes
- 30:44Speaker 1: back on on Monday. All right.
- 30:48Speaker 40: Good.
- 30:51Speaker 1: Have a good day, and we'll move it along here, okay?
- 30:54Speaker 1: Thank you very much. Okay, nice to get a call
- 30:58Speaker 1: to open up the program here at this segment. Some
- 31:04Speaker 1: local news, I think that is important that we share,
- 31:09Speaker 1: but it also has a little bit of a regional thing.
- 31:11Speaker 1: I don't want to leave Asmian periodically primarily to discuss
- 31:18Speaker 1: new London topics, but.
- 31:22Speaker 1: I think what goes on in New London has a
- 31:24Speaker 1: bearing on what's going on in the region. Ocean Beach,
- 31:29Speaker 1: Ocean Beach Park. We have a decision being made by
- 31:35Speaker 1: the city administration to have a contract for David Shigeru
- 31:41Speaker 1: to manage the facility for another year. The company he
- 31:47Speaker 1: had worked for, Sodexo, Their contract expired at the end
- 31:52Speaker 1: of September, and they were, for a short time, a
- 31:58Speaker 1: ship out in the middle of the ocean without a paddle.
- 32:00Speaker 1: And they negotiated with David to stay in that position
- 32:06Speaker 1: and operate the facility for the next year through 9-30-27.
- 32:15Speaker 1: I think that I've always been an advocate for Dave.
- 32:19Speaker 1: I think he's done a terrific job for an extended
- 32:22Speaker 1: period of time. He and I go back to our early,
- 32:26Speaker 1: maybe even teens, sharing how we were going to solve
- 32:32Speaker 1: all the world's problems growing up. But I can't think
- 32:37Speaker 1: of a gentleman who has got more love and passion
- 32:40Speaker 1: for the Ocean Beach Park than Dave Chagrou. I think
- 32:43Speaker 1: he's done a... a terrific job with the resources that
- 32:47Speaker 1: he's had at his disposal. And quite frankly, over many years,
- 32:51Speaker 1: you know, the city has not necessarily invested very well
- 32:56Speaker 1: with the beach, especially in the capital area of the
- 33:00Speaker 1: buildings and the grounds. And they expect him to provide miracles.
- 33:06Speaker 1: And I think, again, with what he's had to work with,
- 33:10Speaker 1: he's done minor miracles. And we'll be well served for
- 33:15Speaker 1: the next year. And I hope that the city doesn't
- 33:17Speaker 1: wait until the 11th hour to try to figure out
- 33:21Speaker 1: what they're doing. I think that's one of the problems
- 33:23Speaker 1: with the beach is that the city really doesn't know
- 33:27Speaker 1: what they want. So it's hard to develop a proposal
- 33:34Speaker 1: for potential operators when you don't know. Because everybody's kind
- 33:39Speaker 1: of flying around blindly. And You may get a little
- 33:44Speaker 1: bit of what you want, maybe not. And not everybody's
- 33:47Speaker 1: on the same page. And you really need to come
- 33:50Speaker 1: up with some definitive ideas of what's going on. So
- 33:56Speaker 1: I wish Dave the best. And anything I could do
- 34:01Speaker 1: to assist him or support him during this following year,
- 34:06Speaker 1: I will do. And I would encourage folks to visit
- 34:10Speaker 1: Ocean Beach Park. It's a beautiful facility. And it's one
- 34:14Speaker 1: of the nicest beaches on the East Coast. And, you know,
- 34:19Speaker 1: Jeff Mullen running the rides in the arcade, and they've
- 34:21Speaker 1: got other amenities at the facility that you can take
- 34:27Speaker 1: advantage of. So it's not just a beach, as they
- 34:30Speaker 1: have said in different advertising campaigns. Another issue I think
- 34:36Speaker 1: that merits discussion are dirt bikes. I don't know about you,
- 34:43Speaker 1: but these things are out of control. And I, in
- 34:51Speaker 1: New London, welcome, Steve. And I just find it rather
- 35:01Speaker 1: repugnant the tolerance that government at all levels has for
- 35:06Speaker 1: these dangerous operators to themselves as well as to the
- 35:14Speaker 1: general public. And the locals throwing up their arms saying, well,
- 35:19Speaker 1: it's not our job, it's the state. The state is
- 35:23Speaker 1: dictating the policies or lack thereof. Well, my answer to
- 35:28Speaker 1: that is, what about my rights? Or Steve's rights? Or
- 35:34Speaker 1: your rights? Should you have to tolerate these wild men
- 35:39Speaker 1: on these dirt bikes Doing wheelies and weaving in and
- 35:44Speaker 1: out of traffic, going up and down one-way streets the
- 35:47Speaker 1: wrong way and just creating hate and discontent. I think
- 35:53Speaker 1: that's wrong. But what our local leaders have to do
- 35:58Speaker 1: is they need to take and make resolutions for our
- 36:06Speaker 1: state reps to get a little guidance because the state
- 36:09Speaker 1: reps have no incentive to to do anything without a
- 36:12Speaker 1: push from our local officials. Until our local officials do
- 36:17Speaker 1: something and say, look, we've got a problem here and
- 36:20Speaker 1: we need your assistance, they're going to sit on their hands,
- 36:22Speaker 1: and they have been. So for our counselors in New London,
- 36:29Speaker 1: and I know this problem is beyond New London, it's
- 36:31Speaker 1: in almost every community in the state of Connecticut, but
- 36:35Speaker 1: I'll be a little provincial here since I'm a New
- 36:37Speaker 1: London guy. that the New Orleans City Council's got a
- 36:42Speaker 1: responsibility to take this thing up and draw up a
- 36:47Speaker 1: resolution of what they want to see. They want help
- 36:51Speaker 1: from the state. They need statutes with teeth that's going
- 36:55Speaker 1: to deter this type of activity in our community. In turn,
- 37:01Speaker 1: it would be in all 169 cities and towns in
- 37:05Speaker 1: the state. But this is not acceptable behavior. The level
- 37:11Speaker 1: of danger is profound, and it needs to be addressed.
- 37:17Speaker 1: We can't play ostrich. That doesn't work. And it should
- 37:24Speaker 1: not be a partisan issue. This is something that's going
- 37:27Speaker 1: on in Republican towns, in Democratic towns, all towns. And
- 37:34Speaker 1: Hartford's got to step up on this as well. Now,
- 37:39Speaker 1: a state rep locally, as I've seen on Facebook, he's
- 37:44Speaker 1: made a comment that, well, he's introduced legislation and it's
- 37:47Speaker 1: been supported. Well, I haven't seen any clear and definitive
- 37:51Speaker 1: action on this issue. So please, call your local reps,
- 37:59Speaker 1: your local counselors, selectmen, whatever government you've got in your community,
- 38:06Speaker 1: and demand that they start taking action. This is unacceptable.
- 38:13Speaker 1: We can't have this type of activity in our community.
- 38:18Speaker 1: So don't be shy. I can tell you from sitting
- 38:23Speaker 1: in our local government in London that your local officials
- 38:27Speaker 1: actually will take action when the electorate comes in and
- 38:31Speaker 1: bangs on the table. Please do. Another, I think, major
- 38:39Speaker 1: topic is the level of apartments that are being constructed
- 38:45Speaker 1: in New London and the region. This is something that
- 38:52Speaker 1: obviously is being in response to the hiring of the
- 38:56Speaker 1: electric boat, and there is a need for housing. I
- 39:01Speaker 1: do worry about the.
- 39:05Speaker 1: The apartments that are being built, that they're all pretty
- 39:09Speaker 1: much high-end, geared for engineers, coming into the region, they
- 39:16Speaker 1: do need a place to live. But what is also
- 39:20Speaker 1: happening is you've got forcing and raising the rent on
- 39:25Speaker 1: all other housing and making the region itself expensive. much
- 39:30Speaker 1: less affordable. And you've got folks who are basically your
- 39:36Speaker 1: locals who have been here for a while. They're getting
- 39:37Speaker 1: nervous and have formed tenant associations and they're looking for
- 39:44Speaker 1: some breathing room. But I've got to tell you, if
- 39:47Speaker 1: you start putting in rent control... That has proven to
- 39:51Speaker 1: be an ineffective way of dealing with these issues. It
- 39:57Speaker 1: creates shortages. It creates lack of maintenance because the landlords
- 40:03Speaker 1: are not in business altruistically. They're in business to make money.
- 40:07Speaker 1: That's their business. That's how they support themselves. So you've
- 40:13Speaker 1: got to be careful with what you ask for and
- 40:16Speaker 1: wish for. But the basic economics of this is a
- 40:24Speaker 1: little bit frightening. And I might add that those who
- 40:30Speaker 1: are renting, they're not really having a vested interest in
- 40:34Speaker 1: our community. And London in particular has got a very
- 40:39Speaker 1: skewed ratio between renters and homeowners. It was bad before
- 40:44Speaker 1: all these apartments went up, and this is just exacerbating
- 40:47Speaker 1: things with higher rents. And that's not going to be
- 40:50Speaker 1: good for the folks who have been living here for generations.
- 40:56Speaker 1: So we've got to be careful with what we are
- 40:58Speaker 1: doing here. We have to be very cognizant. And you
- 41:04Speaker 1: can't expect these folks to be, again, working for nothing.
- 41:09Speaker 1: But I wish we'd see more houses going up as
- 41:12Speaker 1: opposed to apartments. Middle class is the backbone of any community,
- 41:23Speaker 1: and we don't need a high-end, low-end, with no in-the-middle constituency.
- 41:31Speaker 1: I mean, your middle class is the guys and gals
- 41:34Speaker 1: who are going to be your scout leaders and your coaches.
- 41:39Speaker 1: These are the folks that really are going to pull
- 41:41Speaker 1: it together, and they'll stay when they're vested. You've got
- 41:48Speaker 1: a home. an apartment's much easier to get out of
- 41:52Speaker 1: if you decide that you want to move on, whether
- 41:54Speaker 1: you get another job. Or if your personal situation changes.
- 42:01Speaker 1: Because all these new apartments also, by the way, are
- 42:04Speaker 1: not geared for families. They're geared for young singles, young couples,
- 42:10Speaker 1: empty nesters, but not with kids. So they have... Young
- 42:20Speaker 1: couple gets married and they have children. What are they
- 42:22Speaker 1: going to do? Are they going to stay in New
- 42:24Speaker 1: London or are they going to move out? And here, again,
- 42:29Speaker 1: is a situation with the quality of our school district.
- 42:33Speaker 1: If the schools are not getting it done and the
- 42:35Speaker 1: London schools are struggling, where are they going to go?
- 42:41Speaker 1: Are they going to stay? Are they going to gamble
- 42:43Speaker 1: with their kids' education? I think not. They'll move on.
- 42:50Speaker 1: Another thing to consider is that Congress could change its
- 42:53Speaker 1: mind on a dime and stop funding these submarines. And
- 42:57Speaker 1: then what happens? These folks that have been hired are
- 43:00Speaker 1: going to have to be looking for work, and they'll
- 43:02Speaker 1: be vacating the area. So we're hitching all of our
- 43:07Speaker 1: horses to one wagon here. It's not necessarily the best
- 43:11Speaker 1: economic model here. So we've got to start broadening our
- 43:14Speaker 1: thoughts in how we're handling this. the issues of our day,
- 43:18Speaker 1: because they're going to have impact down the road, and
- 43:22Speaker 1: we don't want to see all those new apartments turning
- 43:25Speaker 1: into something less than what they were intended for. We're
- 43:32Speaker 1: getting near break time here, so Engineer, what do you think?
- 43:40Speaker 1: He's next, so you're Apparently you're going to toss me out.
- 43:51Speaker 1: I'm being asked to leave because Steve Elsie's here already.
- 43:54Speaker 1: I've been keeping the seat warm for him. So we'll
- 44:03Speaker 1: pass the baton. It's been a lot of fun. And
- 44:06Speaker 1: I want to thank Lee for the opportunity to sit
- 44:09Speaker 1: in for an hour this morning on The Voice of Freedom.
- 44:13Speaker 1: Thank you very much, and we'll catch you next time.
- 44:16Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 44:18Speaker 30: An old cowboy went riding out one dark and windy
- 44:22Speaker 30: day Up on a ridge he rested as he went
- 44:28Speaker 30: along his way When all at once a mighty herd
- 44:34Speaker 30: of red-eyed cows he saw Plowing through the ragged skies
- 44:41Speaker 30: And up a cloudy drawl Their brands were still on
- 44:47Speaker 30: fire And.

- 56:57Speaker 2: Hello, everyone.
- 56:57Speaker 20: Steve Elsie here. Let's get this party started right now.
- 57:01Speaker 20: It's Friday. It's the weekend. And I've got a great
- 57:07Speaker 20: show here. I'm going to tell you, it's a great show.
- 57:09Speaker 20: It starts out right now with Joe De La Cruz. Joe,
- 57:12Speaker 20: welcome aboard.
- 57:14Speaker 21: Steve Elsie, how are you, my friend?
- 57:16Speaker 31: It's been a while since I've been on the radio.
- 57:17Speaker 21: Thanks for having me on.
- 57:18Speaker 20: Yeah, of course. You know, we've been at multiple events recently,
- 57:21Speaker 20: and I've, you know, personally been out there performing at
- 57:24Speaker 20: these events. And I've seen you many times deliver your
- 57:29Speaker 20: speeches out, you know, in the community, knocking on doors.
- 57:33Speaker 20: I know you're working really hard. It's amazing to see,
- 57:35Speaker 20: you know, from a third party view here, Joe. You know,
- 57:38Speaker 20: watching all of you guys, not just you, but all
- 57:40Speaker 20: the candidates just go out into the community and just
- 57:43Speaker 20: do their thing, trying to get their messages out there
- 57:45Speaker 20: is pretty, it's a unique sight to see.
- 57:48Speaker 2: It really is.
- 57:49Speaker 21: Yeah, well, thanks for saying that. And I know me
- 57:52Speaker 21: and all the other candidates. I know it's because the
- 57:55Speaker 21: more you talk to people on the doors, the more
- 57:57Speaker 21: you understand what they're going through. You think you know
- 58:01Speaker 21: until you actually go door to door. I think folks
- 58:04Speaker 21: are in a lot worse positions than a lot of times.
- 58:06Speaker 21: And we even, think or give credit for because, you know,
- 58:10Speaker 21: a lot of us, I know me in particular, I'm
- 58:13Speaker 21: pretty fortunate. My wife and I have been very fortunate,
- 58:16Speaker 21: lucky to have our help, you know, our home, and
- 58:19Speaker 21: we feel fortunate. So knocking on doors and hearing some
- 58:23Speaker 21: of the stories of what folks are dealing with and
- 58:25Speaker 21: going through, it's It just makes you want to knock
- 58:27Speaker 21: the next door.
- 58:29Speaker 31: It's addicting.
- 58:29Speaker 11: I get it.
- 58:30Speaker 20: I get it. Well, listen, what inspired you to run
- 58:33Speaker 20: for the 18th Senate District? What's going to be one
- 58:37Speaker 20: of your top priorities for the towns that you're representing there?
- 58:39Speaker 11: What's happening?
- 58:40Speaker 21: I've got to be careful about how much I talk
- 58:42Speaker 21: because there's a million things that really– and a lot
- 58:46Speaker 21: of it has to do with Southeastern Connecticut. I am
- 58:49Speaker 21: from here. I do want to make it more affordable.
- 58:52Speaker 21: When I go door-to-door and understand– really understand that people
- 58:56Speaker 21: really are not making it. I want to protect folks
- 58:59Speaker 21: from the legislation that's coming down from D.C. I think that,
- 59:04Speaker 21: you know, there's a big, beautiful bill that's about to
- 59:06Speaker 21: come through, and I really don't think folks are ready
- 59:08Speaker 21: for it. I think uh a lot of folks even
- 59:11Speaker 21: on the other side of the aisle um uh i
- 59:14Speaker 21: don't know if they understand that the legislation and how
- 59:16Speaker 21: it's going to affect folks on medicaid uh it's it's
- 59:20Speaker 21: devastating uh it's swift i spoke at uh at something
- 59:24Speaker 21: yesterday that was that really uh It shows you the
- 59:27Speaker 21: nonprofits and how much you've been hurting and how much
- 59:30Speaker 21: more we're going to ask of them.
- 59:31Speaker 31: You know, the.
- 59:32Speaker 21: 18th District, it's got historic shoreline towns, very exclusive homes
- 59:38Speaker 21: in one section. Then you go up north, it's very rural,
- 59:41Speaker 21: you know, and I'm learning the whole entire district. I'm
- 59:44Speaker 21: excited to learn the district. And I want to make sure,
- 59:47Speaker 21: you know, families get relief, these rising costs. And while
- 59:52Speaker 21: through all of this, make sure our local businesses, again,
- 59:54Speaker 21: the support they need. And lastly, to make sure that
- 59:57Speaker 21: the school funding, which really drives most of our local
- 59:59Speaker 21: property taxes, ends up getting increased here from the state
- 1:00:03Speaker 21: because it's our main way in the state legislature that
- 1:00:08Speaker 21: we can lower taxes for folks in these municipalities and towns.
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:00:12Speaker 20: Well, you know, speaking of taxes, you know, there's high
- 1:00:16Speaker 20: electric bills, taxes. They're major concerns for the local residents.
- 1:00:20Speaker 20: You know, how are you going to lower these taxes?
- 1:00:22Speaker 20: What are you going to do?
- 1:00:23Speaker 21: Yeah, and everyone says– well, the politician said, I'm going
- 1:00:27Speaker 21: to lower your taxes.
- 1:00:28Speaker 47: Right.
- 1:00:29Speaker 31: And then they get.
- 1:00:29Speaker 21: Elected and find out how difficult it can be.
- 1:00:31Speaker 20: Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:00:34Speaker 21: The electric bill is no different. And we need to
- 1:00:37Speaker 21: deliver targeted relief to the middle class. And what I
- 1:00:40Speaker 21: mean is there are taxes that we can do and
- 1:00:43Speaker 21: target that are going to help the middle class and
- 1:00:45Speaker 21: working poor specifically. There's everyday essentials. And I know they
- 1:00:49Speaker 21: passed a bill last year. I think it was– school
- 1:00:53Speaker 21: supplies and stuff like that. I want to make sure
- 1:00:54Speaker 21: that we make, we expand it to the children's clothing, uh,
- 1:00:57Speaker 21: and other items that are absolutely needed, uh, get rid
- 1:01:01Speaker 21: of the tax on stuff like that. Uh, you know,
- 1:01:03Speaker 21: just to give them that little break and, and that's
- 1:01:06Speaker 21: a way of targeting the folks that need it most, uh,
- 1:01:09Speaker 21: on energy. Uh, you know, I was there before and
- 1:01:12Speaker 21: I was one of the people that voted, uh, for
- 1:01:15Speaker 21: as well as my opponent voted to save the millstone bill, uh,
- 1:01:18Speaker 21: And although a lot of people, you know, they're upset
- 1:01:21Speaker 21: about that public benefit charge, and I am too, I
- 1:01:24Speaker 21: think something like that would need to get put into
- 1:01:27Speaker 21: the budget. No longer can we add it to the
- 1:01:30Speaker 21: end of an electric bill. And we also have to
- 1:01:34Speaker 21: claw back on these companies. They can only make so
- 1:01:36Speaker 21: much money, and they say they have to do it,
- 1:01:39Speaker 21: and they do projections. I think I looked it up,
- 1:01:43Speaker 21: and– You know, Eversource made $ 1. 69 billion last year. And
- 1:01:48Speaker 21: if you look at the last 10 years, they've always
- 1:01:49Speaker 21: made over a billion. There was the exception of one
- 1:01:52Speaker 21: year where they had a loss. But I think we
- 1:01:56Speaker 21: should be looking at the bottom line at the end
- 1:01:58Speaker 21: of the fiscal year. And if you see a profit,
- 1:02:01Speaker 21: that is ridiculous. So make sure all these profits are
- 1:02:05Speaker 21: real profits and they're not throwing big, huge bonus money
- 1:02:09Speaker 21: to cut down what the profit looks like. You know,
- 1:02:13Speaker 21: making sure that it's an even playing field for ratepayers.
- 1:02:16Speaker 21: Those are a couple things that we can do.
- 1:02:19Speaker 20: Sounds, you know, that's a lot. You know, you got
- 1:02:22Speaker 20: your hands full with that for sure. But I think
- 1:02:24Speaker 20: you can do it. Absolutely. The 18th district that you're
- 1:02:27Speaker 20: going to be representing relies heavily on small business and tourism.
- 1:02:33Speaker 20: Stonington and local shops in Griswold, you know, how are
- 1:02:36Speaker 20: you going to help them thrive?
- 1:02:38Speaker 21: There's a bunch of ways that you can do that.
- 1:02:41Speaker 31: And you know what?
- 1:02:42Speaker 21: The state doesn't get credit for everything they do. It's
- 1:02:45Speaker 21: a government, and people want to assume that there's nothing
- 1:02:48Speaker 21: good coming out of the government, when in actuality, as
- 1:02:51Speaker 21: someone who ran a small business, you know, I wasn't
- 1:02:55Speaker 21: the owner, but I was tasked with everything that an
- 1:02:58Speaker 21: owner would have to do. One of those things was
- 1:03:01Speaker 21: looking for grants and ways that the state could help
- 1:03:04Speaker 21: our business. We used it multiple times. It's called the
- 1:03:08Speaker 21: MVP grant. If you're out there listening and and you
- 1:03:10Speaker 21: own a business. It was specifically for manufacturing. But basically,
- 1:03:15Speaker 21: you know, we were looking at a press break that
- 1:03:17Speaker 21: we wanted a few years back, found this program, and
- 1:03:20Speaker 21: the press break was $ 150, 000. The state came in and
- 1:03:25Speaker 21: said that they would pay for one-third of it. We
- 1:03:28Speaker 21: ended up buying it, something that we may not have bought.
- 1:03:32Speaker 21: And I think that was an initiative that I supported
- 1:03:35Speaker 21: while I was up there, too, of really talking to
- 1:03:38Speaker 21: the businesses that are already in your state, Not sending
- 1:03:41Speaker 21: your governor across the country with a bag of money
- 1:03:44Speaker 21: and tax incentives telling other businesses how to get to Connecticut.
- 1:03:49Speaker 21: That's part of growing Connecticut. But the biggest part of
- 1:03:52Speaker 21: growing Connecticut is really working with the businesses that are
- 1:03:55Speaker 21: already brick and mortar in your state. And I was
- 1:03:59Speaker 21: really proud to be part of that. We ended up,
- 1:04:01Speaker 21: before I left, I am retired now, we ended up
- 1:04:03Speaker 21: buying a water jet. You know, water jets are like
- 1:04:06Speaker 21: a $ 300, 000 machine. I'm using those numbers for round numbers.
- 1:04:10Speaker 21: and I think we got like 100,000, I can't remember exactly,
- 1:04:14Speaker 21: from the state, and that was through a program that
- 1:04:17Speaker 21: really encourages manufacturing in Connecticut. And if you're listening to
- 1:04:21Speaker 21: this and you're looking for help on that, just reach
- 1:04:25Speaker 21: out to my website, or you can just look up
- 1:04:26Speaker 21: the MVP grant in the state. Those are ways that
- 1:04:30Speaker 21: we can do it in local shops in Griswold or Stonington,
- 1:04:34Speaker 21: no matter where they are. You know, I've had a
- 1:04:37Speaker 21: lot of meetings already, you know, and again, this is
- 1:04:40Speaker 21: I am the chair of the Economic Development Committee in Groton.
- 1:04:44Speaker 21: So when I left office, I went right back in
- 1:04:48Speaker 21: and it was really been like we're rolling the boat
- 1:04:50Speaker 21: in the same direction. It was a refreshing time. I'm
- 1:04:54Speaker 21: still there. I'm still the chair. And, you know, we
- 1:04:57Speaker 21: work with we're advocating for the state to give back
- 1:05:02Speaker 21: some of those you know, tourism dollars that have been
- 1:05:05Speaker 21: earned down here on this side of the state. Um,
- 1:05:07Speaker 21: I think, you know, there's folks that are in the
- 1:05:09Speaker 21: state that think that all just happens. Um, and I,
- 1:05:12Speaker 21: you know, you need a strong advocate in Hartford to let,
- 1:05:15Speaker 21: you know, folks know that, you know, that money is,
- 1:05:17Speaker 21: is being earned because, you know, businesses are advertising and
- 1:05:21Speaker 21: they're bringing people to Connecticut. And I want to increase
- 1:05:23Speaker 21: that funding because, uh, that's, that's a way we can
- 1:05:25Speaker 21: really help them.
- 1:05:26Speaker 51: Yeah.
- 1:05:27Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 1:05:27Speaker 21: Yeah.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: Right on.
- 1:05:29Speaker 20: Um, You know, moving on here, as I'm thinking out loud,
- 1:05:34Speaker 20: you know, health care is critical. You know, it's expensive.
- 1:05:38Speaker 20: You know, how are you going to work to make
- 1:05:39Speaker 20: it more affordable, Joe?
- 1:05:43Speaker 21: When I talked about knocking on doors earlier, I think
- 1:05:45Speaker 21: off-air I was talking with you, and when I go
- 1:05:49Speaker 21: to the door, the amount of people that don't have
- 1:05:50Speaker 21: the prescriptions they need, I mean, we hear this rhetoric
- 1:05:53Speaker 21: all the time from politicians, right? And I say from
- 1:05:56Speaker 21: politicians because really they are the front lines. We're knocking
- 1:06:00Speaker 21: on doors and going down driveways. You know, I've been
- 1:06:03Speaker 21: down driveways that people say that no one's ever been
- 1:06:05Speaker 21: to their door. And the story is common. It's, you know,
- 1:06:10Speaker 21: and if I didn't, if I knock doors today, like
- 1:06:12Speaker 21: I'm gonna, I'm gonna go out there and I'll spend
- 1:06:14Speaker 21: six hours on the door and three hours of three
- 1:06:16Speaker 21: and a half hours, we'll be talking about prescription drugs
- 1:06:19Speaker 21: and medical and probably their electric bill. Healthcare, it's no
- 1:06:24Speaker 21: family should have to choose between putting food on the
- 1:06:27Speaker 21: table or a prescription. I talked to one young lady
- 1:06:31Speaker 21: that basically her whole life has been allergic to bees,
- 1:06:35Speaker 21: got stung, and her normal protocol was to go into
- 1:06:39Speaker 21: the emergency room and get a shot and be monitored.
- 1:06:44Speaker 21: Or she'd get the shot first, go to the emergency room,
- 1:06:47Speaker 21: and leave the emergency room like two hours after, after
- 1:06:50Speaker 21: being monitored with a new EpiPen. She told me she
- 1:06:53Speaker 21: didn't have the money to do it the last time.
- 1:06:56Speaker 21: She gave herself a shot. She called a friend. A
- 1:06:59Speaker 21: friend came and just sat with her for a few
- 1:07:01Speaker 21: hours to make sure she didn't have a secondary attack.
- 1:07:04Speaker 21: That could have all went sideways. She could have had
- 1:07:06Speaker 21: the secondary. An ambulance could have been called. She could
- 1:07:09Speaker 21: have been put in a, you know, chemically induced coma
- 1:07:11Speaker 21: because she lost her oxygen for too long. And it's
- 1:07:16Speaker 21: spending good money early, like making sure someone like that
- 1:07:19Speaker 21: had access to the EpiPen right away and access to
- 1:07:23Speaker 21: go to the emergency room. That's a true savings in
- 1:07:26Speaker 21: the end because... If we did pay and made it
- 1:07:29Speaker 21: affordable and she did go, we're avoiding the possibility of
- 1:07:34Speaker 21: what could come very expensive later. You know, health care
- 1:07:37Speaker 21: that ends up topping over a million dollars. And in
- 1:07:40Speaker 21: the end, how do you, you know, you want people
- 1:07:43Speaker 21: to feel safe. And she didn't. And right after that call,
- 1:07:46Speaker 21: I'd say like eight hours later when I'm making phone calls,
- 1:07:50Speaker 21: I told that story to another young lady. And she said, oh,
- 1:07:53Speaker 21: my God, my heart just dropped. because I'm going to
- 1:07:56Speaker 21: a baby shower this morning and I really don't have
- 1:08:01Speaker 21: nothing to say because my best friend who's pregnant is
- 1:08:04Speaker 21: highly allergic to bees and she does not have an EpiPen.
- 1:08:08Speaker 31: And I need an EpiPen.
- 1:08:10Speaker 21: And I immediately thought maybe I should just get mine
- 1:08:14Speaker 21: and I'll give it to her. And I don't buy
- 1:08:16Speaker 21: my EpiPen personally because it's like a hazelnut allergy and
- 1:08:20Speaker 21: apples and I haven't been convinced that I actually need it,
- 1:08:23Speaker 21: but it costs like $ 500 for me. So, yeah, it's
- 1:08:28Speaker 21: probably a financial choice that I make. For this young
- 1:08:31Speaker 21: lady being pregnant, she doesn't have a choice. She's just
- 1:08:34Speaker 21: going without it. So I looked up Planned Parenthood to
- 1:08:37Speaker 21: see if they offered that service.
- 1:08:39Speaker 4: They didn't.
- 1:08:41Speaker 31: And then I.
- 1:08:42Speaker 21: Found out that she had recently just got on Husky
- 1:08:45Speaker 21: and found out that she does qualify under Husky. And
- 1:08:49Speaker 21: she was going to get it. But we tried to
- 1:08:51Speaker 21: try to do the follow-up. I think of that, that
- 1:08:54Speaker 21: person often, and I hope it worked out, but that's,
- 1:08:57Speaker 21: those are the choices and, and, you know, getting access
- 1:08:59Speaker 21: to it. Um, I've always voted to, to, to really
- 1:09:02Speaker 21: try to get that, those prices down, keep prescription drug
- 1:09:06Speaker 21: costs down. Cause it matters.
- 1:09:07Speaker 20: It does matter. It absolutely does matter. And what also
- 1:09:10Speaker 20: matters is, uh, you know, in these communities, you know,
- 1:09:14Speaker 20: taxes are heavy, are a heavy burden for many towns, Joe,
- 1:09:16Speaker 20: you know, that, um, You know, how can you relieve
- 1:09:19Speaker 20: the pressure of these taxes and still support public schools?
- 1:09:25Speaker 21: It's a million, well, let's say billion-dollar question.
- 1:09:28Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:09:28Speaker 31: Right?
- 1:09:29Speaker 21: Every single town in the state is obligated to educate
- 1:09:33Speaker 21: our kids. The 169 municipalities, some shared high schools and
- 1:09:37Speaker 21: middle schools and some of the smaller towns, and they
- 1:09:40Speaker 21: all rely on ECS. It doesn't matter. On the other
- 1:09:44Speaker 21: side of the state, some of the towns don't qualify
- 1:09:47Speaker 21: for it. It's based on need. You know, Groton, I
- 1:09:50Speaker 21: know our numbers inside and out. I represent in New London.
- 1:09:53Speaker 21: I know their numbers. I'm learning the numbers of the
- 1:09:56Speaker 21: eight towns that are in the 18th district. What's in
- 1:10:00Speaker 21: common is it's all ECS. And when people say, how
- 1:10:04Speaker 21: can I lower taxes for someone in Voluntown? And it
- 1:10:10Speaker 21: really is quite easy. It has to do with educational cost-sharing.
- 1:10:15Speaker 21: That's a number that, if you've never heard of it,
- 1:10:19Speaker 21: has a lot to do with the bill that you
- 1:10:21Speaker 21: pay your tax at the end of the year. Because
- 1:10:25Speaker 21: if you only get, you know, I know just for
- 1:10:27Speaker 21: ground numbers, Groton gets $ 25 million for educational cost share
- 1:10:32Speaker 21: from the state. I was on the RTM in 2000,
- 1:10:34Speaker 21: and it was $ 25 million. I was on the RTM
- 1:10:36Speaker 21: from 2000 to 2008, and when I left.
- 1:10:38Speaker 31: It was $ 25 million.
- 1:10:45Speaker 21: When I came back and ran for office after coaching
- 1:10:48Speaker 21: basketball and baseball and everything I got, uh, wrote back
- 1:10:51Speaker 21: into politics by a good friend. Um, and the first
- 1:10:55Speaker 21: budget came through and I said, that number can't be right.
- 1:10:57Speaker 21: Cause this is 25 million for educational cost sharing from
- 1:11:00Speaker 21: the state. Um, and they said, no, that's exactly what
- 1:11:04Speaker 21: it is. It never increased.
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:11:06Speaker 21: Um, until this day. So from 2000 and it's 2026,
- 1:11:08Speaker 21: I would be going into the, 2027 budget, it's always
- 1:11:14Speaker 21: been $ 25 million. This past year, they were able to
- 1:11:17Speaker 21: get the secondary funding. So for the first time, they
- 1:11:21Speaker 21: increased it. And I look to really fund that because,
- 1:11:26Speaker 21: you know, it's not in the town's charter. No matter
- 1:11:29Speaker 21: which 169 municipality you live in, it's not in their
- 1:11:32Speaker 21: charter to educate the children. It's in Connecticut State's constitution.
- 1:11:37Speaker 21: And we need to take on that challenge as a
- 1:11:39Speaker 21: state and make sure that each town.
- 1:11:40Speaker 31: Is is equal, too.
- 1:11:43Speaker 21: There's different tax bases in different towns. We always see
- 1:11:46Speaker 21: in some of the richer towns that their field trip
- 1:11:49Speaker 21: might be better than the one that is in the
- 1:11:51Speaker 21: lower area. Or maybe the lower cost area doesn't go
- 1:11:56Speaker 21: on the field trip at all. It's a way that
- 1:11:59Speaker 21: the state can equalize that. And I think there's room
- 1:12:02Speaker 21: to do better on that. So local property taxes, I'd
- 1:12:06Speaker 21: say if you're talking to a politician how they're going
- 1:12:08Speaker 21: to fix that, that's probably the number one way we're
- 1:12:11Speaker 21: going to be able to do it. And I am
- 1:12:12Speaker 21: laser focused on it.
- 1:12:14Speaker 36: Okay.
- 1:12:14Speaker 20: All right. Excellent.
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:12:17Speaker 20: A lot of work there, Joe. A lot of work.
- 1:12:19Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 1:12:21Speaker 20: Look, you know, recently your opponent had a mailer out
- 1:12:25Speaker 20: that hit you, a little hit piece on you with
- 1:12:28Speaker 20: some different things. Do you want to address any of that?
- 1:12:31Speaker 44: Yeah.
- 1:12:31Speaker 31: You know what?
- 1:12:32Speaker 21: It's funny. That's one of my number one questions I get.
- 1:12:34Speaker 9: Okay.
- 1:12:35Speaker 21: The folks that know me and knew the absolute pit
- 1:12:39Speaker 21: in my stomach when I left the legislature back in
- 1:12:43Speaker 21: 2022 after six years, the first five years I somehow managed.
- 1:12:48Speaker 21: I was getting up at 4 in the morning, doing
- 1:12:51Speaker 21: some of my work for my job, and then at
- 1:12:53Speaker 21: 10 o'clock leaving and trying to come back at 3 o'clock.
- 1:12:56Speaker 21: I didn't realize when I first got elected day one,
- 1:12:59Speaker 21: they gave me my schedule, and it was basically– 9
- 1:13:02Speaker 21: o'clock in the morning, be in Hartford, and then leave
- 1:13:05Speaker 21: at 4 o'clock in the afternoon, Monday through Friday. And,
- 1:13:08Speaker 21: you know, when I first ran, I really had this
- 1:13:10Speaker 21: feeling that it was a part-time legislature.
- 1:13:12Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 1:13:13Speaker 21: That I'd be able to, okay, I'd be in Hartford
- 1:13:15Speaker 21: until 2 or 3 in the morning. But that's nothing
- 1:13:18Speaker 21: different than I haven't done my whole entire life.
- 1:13:20Speaker 20: Sure.
- 1:13:21Speaker 21: Business in Hartford is conducted Monday through Friday, you know,
- 1:13:24Speaker 21: from 8, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. And folks with
- 1:13:28Speaker 21: regular jobs, it is a shock. Because I think all
- 1:13:32Speaker 21: of us that have always dedicated our time to, whether
- 1:13:35Speaker 21: it's a council. So for me, yeah, I miss boats.
- 1:13:38Speaker 21: Is that hit piece correct? The no-show Joe, you know,
- 1:13:42Speaker 21: they came up with a line. Hey, you know what?
- 1:13:45Speaker 21: I'll eat that too. But in the end, if I
- 1:13:47Speaker 21: was on a golf course and I was missing a boat,
- 1:13:50Speaker 21: or if I was, like, at the beach or on
- 1:13:52Speaker 21: my boat, come after me. But I can tell you
- 1:13:55Speaker 21: unequivocally that last year we got so busy at my
- 1:13:57Speaker 21: job that, you know, EB was requiring me to be
- 1:14:00Speaker 21: at some of these meetings. And And listen, leadership and
- 1:14:03Speaker 21: I would be in very heavy communication about what bills
- 1:14:06Speaker 21: were coming up and what. And I'm not saying one
- 1:14:09Speaker 21: bill is more or less important. But the ones that
- 1:14:12Speaker 21: that really were, you know, the soup of the day ones,
- 1:14:15Speaker 21: I wanted to make sure I was up there and
- 1:14:16Speaker 21: I had my say on them. And that doesn't mean
- 1:14:18Speaker 21: to disregard anyone else's bill. They're all important. But in
- 1:14:22Speaker 21: the end, it's a part time legislature. And I made
- 1:14:24Speaker 21: the decision to leave. because I didn't feel like I
- 1:14:27Speaker 21: could do both well. I love the picture of the cigar.
- 1:14:30Speaker 21: I mean, I've got to admit, I'm a big, huge
- 1:14:32Speaker 21: cigar fan. I was in the cigar aficionado because I
- 1:14:35Speaker 21: built an igloo one day, and the picture made it.
- 1:14:38Speaker 21: Me and my buddy are in it. So, you know,
- 1:14:41Speaker 21: we have a big rally tomorrow. You know, vote for Joe.
- 1:14:44Speaker 21: Get out and canvass and knock doors. And if you
- 1:14:47Speaker 21: bring that thing, I was not– I don't want to
- 1:14:50Speaker 21: sound like too funny, but I'm signing them for my
- 1:14:53Speaker 21: buddies that are bringing them up.
- 1:14:55Speaker 20: Yeah.
- 1:14:56Speaker 28: They laugh.
- 1:14:57Speaker 21: They call me. They're like, what, what is that, man?
- 1:14:59Speaker 21: That's not how you smoke a cigar. You know, you
- 1:15:01Speaker 21: get all those, those things. And it's, you know, it's
- 1:15:03Speaker 21: a hit piece. And, you know, and my, my, what
- 1:15:06Speaker 21: I sent out about her and anything you read that
- 1:15:09Speaker 21: I send out for my team is going to be
- 1:15:11Speaker 21: about boats that she took.
- 1:15:12Speaker 31: Yeah.
- 1:15:13Speaker 21: About things that she's, she's done. And, and really how,
- 1:15:16Speaker 21: you know, how she's kind of attached herself to, you know,
- 1:15:20Speaker 21: I watched the interview and she basically said that we
- 1:15:23Speaker 21: should be following RFK down that rabbit hole that he's
- 1:15:26Speaker 21: going and that we should put a philosophical exemption allowing
- 1:15:32Speaker 21: people just to not take the vaccine if they want.
- 1:15:35Speaker 21: And those are scary things. And I think, you know,
- 1:15:38Speaker 21: a lot of my Democrat friends that have voted for
- 1:15:41Speaker 21: in the past, I'm trying to let them know that
- 1:15:44Speaker 21: that's kind of, that's a new policy and it's something
- 1:15:46Speaker 21: that they're probably not used to or surprised when they
- 1:15:48Speaker 21: hear it. But, you know, that's all fair. And listen,
- 1:15:52Speaker 21: I'm not saying it's wrong because we all have our
- 1:15:54Speaker 21: own opinions. My opinion varies from hers.
- 1:15:56Speaker 9: Right.

- 1:16:46Speaker 20: All right.

- 1:19:20Speaker 5: And part of that bill isn't even electricity.
- 1:19:23Speaker 40: It's hidden charges that Hartford buried there so nobody voted
- 1:19:28Speaker 40: on that.
- 1:19:28Speaker 20: It's time to get those charges off of your bill
- 1:19:31Speaker 20: and make legislators own them.

- 1:23:09Speaker 9: It's Hugh Hewitt here with Ken and Nick Tumalo, hosts
- 1:23:12Speaker 9: of Tumalo Financial Radio. Sunday's on 94.9. Guys, why do
- 1:23:17Speaker 9: taxes get overlooked in retirement planning?
- 1:23:19Speaker 38: Because the tax code's so complicated. You look at it,
- 1:23:22Speaker 38: the 401k is pre-tax money. The Roth is tax-free. Your
- 1:23:25Speaker 38: non-retirement accounts are capital gains, dividends, and interest. Your Social
- 1:23:28Speaker 38: Security's taxed by provisional income. I'm giving you all these
- 1:23:31Speaker 38: things and you're probably already confused. That's why you want
- 1:23:33Speaker 38: to build out that two-month retirement checkup to see short,
- 1:23:36Speaker 38: first long-term effects on these type of things. Because you
- 1:23:39Speaker 38: never know, you might have been saving well in those
- 1:23:42Speaker 38: 401ks and you might have a required minimum distribution issue
- 1:23:45Speaker 38: at 73 or 75, depending on year of birth.
- 1:23:47Speaker 11: So you really don't want.
- 1:23:49Speaker 38: To look at it just on a one-year basis. Oh yeah,
- 1:23:51Speaker 38: I'm going to do a Roth conversion this year. It's
- 1:23:53Speaker 38: going to take care of everything. No, Planning takes year
- 1:23:56Speaker 38: over year on tax planning. You can't just do it
- 1:23:58Speaker 38: in one year.
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:23:59Speaker 60: One of the biggest things that we did find with
- 1:24:01Speaker 60: tax planning, especially for our listeners, was that it has
- 1:24:05Speaker 60: to be done over multiple years to actually gain an advantage.
- 1:24:08Speaker 60: So it's not that simple where you just make one
- 1:24:10Speaker 60: change in one year. A lot of times it's the
- 1:24:12Speaker 60: planning piece of it. And when we do our two-month
- 1:24:14Speaker 60: financial retirement checkup, it actually looks like a big spreadsheet.
- 1:24:17Speaker 15: And it shows the numbers over a whole bunch of years.
- 1:24:19Speaker 60: We like to go out 24, even 30 years at
- 1:24:21Speaker 60: times when we're projecting out. Because if we can pick
- 1:24:24Speaker 60: up on some of these tax things and then start
- 1:24:26Speaker 60: to implement strategies, then what we can do is put
- 1:24:29Speaker 60: in front of you, the listeners, we can put in
- 1:24:31Speaker 60: front of them where they would save money in taxes
- 1:24:33Speaker 60: and how much over time. So it starts with that
- 1:24:35Speaker 60: Tumalo Financial Retirement Checkup.
- 1:24:36Speaker 5: Our number, 860-854-3434.
- 1:24:37Speaker 3: Again, 860-854-3434.
- 1:24:37Speaker 60: Or visit us online at tfcheckup.com. At Tumalo Financial, they
- 1:24:40Speaker 60: have just one job, and that's to help you get
- 1:24:42Speaker 60: retirement ready.

- 1:25:08Speaker 5: Fish on sports. More than a score.
- 1:25:12Speaker 14: And we're brought to you by Charter Oak Federal Credit Union,
- 1:25:15Speaker 14: where members bank better. So one of the things that
- 1:25:18Speaker 14: we can always be about our UConn football program is honest.
- 1:25:23Speaker 15: There have been some down times and some good times, too.
- 1:25:26Speaker 15: Some have gone on to the NFL.
- 1:25:28Speaker 14: Others haven't. But what Aaron Garland and Carlton Steer just did,
- 1:25:33Speaker 14: is so much bigger than anything football related. Garland and Steer,
- 1:25:36Speaker 14: who met while playing football in stores, just traveled to
- 1:25:40Speaker 14: Sierra Leone in Africa where they built a school there
- 1:25:43Speaker 14: for kids that didn't have one.
- 1:25:46Speaker 10: Yeah, you heard right, an entire school.
- 1:25:48Speaker 15: They found the land, they got the materials.
- 1:25:51Speaker 14: They built it themselves, and even helped hire the four
- 1:25:54Speaker 14: teachers that are there teaching their 78 students at the
- 1:25:58Speaker 14: Steer International Academy. I don't say this too often, but
- 1:26:01Speaker 14: some things in life are bigger than football, and this
- 1:26:04Speaker 14: is certainly one of them. With more than just a score,
- 1:26:07Speaker 14: I'm Fish on Sports.
- 1:26:10Speaker 2: Good morning, I'm Sean Murphy.
- 1:26:12Speaker 29: Sunshine today with a high around 70.

- 1:26:15Speaker 12: Bernard School remains closed following last Friday's fire with the
- 1:26:19Speaker 12: cause still under investigation and no date set for students
- 1:26:22Speaker 12: to return. Cleanup and repairs continue while students will learn
- 1:26:27Speaker 12: off campus until further notice. Dates for the school open
- 1:26:30Speaker 12: house and homecoming remain unchanged. East Lime officials have voted
- 1:26:35Speaker 12: to submit a proposal for five speed cameras to the
- 1:26:39Speaker 12: State Department of Transportation for approval. Drivers caught traveling at
- 1:26:42Speaker 12: least 11 miles per hour over the speed limit would
- 1:26:45Speaker 12: face fines starting at $ 50. Water testing at Wetenequah Cove
- 1:26:50Speaker 12: in Stonington found high levels of human DNA, raising sewage
- 1:26:54Speaker 12: contamination concerns. Officials are investigating about 45 potentially failing septic
- 1:27:00Speaker 12: systems and considering stricter inspection requirements. South County Hospital has
- 1:27:05Speaker 12: officially joined the Mayo Clinic Care Network, becoming the first
- 1:27:09Speaker 12: hospital in Rhode Island to establish the partnership. The collaboration
- 1:27:13Speaker 12: gives local doctors access to Mayo Clinic specialists, second opinions,
- 1:27:18Speaker 12: and consultations, expanding patient care without requiring travel.
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: I'm Sean Murphy. When news breaks, we break in.
- 1:27:26Speaker 55: The content you're about to hear may trigger a deep-seated
- 1:27:29Speaker 55: progressive reaction. If you do not feel safe and or

- 1:27:40Speaker 55: personal safety, seek refuge.
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: Immediately from the radio.

- 1:27:52Speaker 51: This has been a public service announcement for the Tunnel
- 1:27:55Speaker 51: Vision Association of Americas.

- 1:28:08Speaker 61: You keep saying you got something for me.
- 1:28:14Speaker 3: Something you call love, but confess.
- 1:28:19Speaker 28: You've been a messin' where you shouldn't have been a messin'..
- 1:28:24Speaker 3: And now someone else is gettin' all your best. These
- 1:28:30Speaker 3: boots are made for walkin'. And that's just what they'll do.
- 1:28:36Speaker 3: One of these days these.
- 1:28:37Speaker 5: Boots are going to walk all over you.
- 1:28:41Speaker 32: Former United States Congressman turned political analyst.
- 1:28:45Speaker 5: It's time for John LeBoullier.
- 1:28:48Speaker 20: All right, we are back. And with me right now,
- 1:28:52Speaker 20: of course, John LeBoullier. John, welcome aboard. Thanks, Dave.
- 1:28:57Speaker 31: Good morning.
- 1:28:58Speaker 20: Good morning to you, and thank you again for joining
- 1:29:01Speaker 20: me on a Friday, which is different than your normal time.
- 1:29:04Speaker 20: But soon enough, that'll be back when the Voice of
- 1:29:07Speaker 20: Freedom returns, and you can get back to the normal
- 1:29:10Speaker 20: scheduled time for you.
- 1:29:13Speaker 31: Well, I enjoy Fridays with Steve, so thank you for
- 1:29:17Speaker 31: asking me on.
- 1:29:18Speaker 20: All good, all good. I don't even want to go
- 1:29:20Speaker 20: into the Yankees. We can save that to the end.
- 1:29:23Speaker 20: You and I are both on that same page, but
- 1:29:26Speaker 20: let's just start with with what we talked about a
- 1:29:28Speaker 20: little bit off air on these new polls that just
- 1:29:31Speaker 20: came out today.
- 1:29:33Speaker 31: Yeah, this is the new, just released Pew poll, highly respected,
- 1:29:39Speaker 31: nonpartisan poll by the Pew Center.
- 1:29:41Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:29:42Speaker 31: And Trump's approval is down now at 30% nationally, 68% disapproval,
- 1:29:51Speaker 31: 30% approved. That's the lowest approval. He was once at
- 1:29:58Speaker 31: 30 right after the January 6th fiasco. And here we
- 1:30:03Speaker 31: are again after a year and a half. This guy
- 1:30:07Speaker 31: single-handedly has driven himself into the ditch and taking the
- 1:30:10Speaker 31: Republican Party with him. And then the other part of
- 1:30:14Speaker 31: the poll that's fascinating is he got a lot of
- 1:30:17Speaker 31: people to vote for him in 2024. And in this poll,
- 1:30:19Speaker 31: only 67% of those Trump voters voted. now approve of
- 1:30:26Speaker 31: how he is doing as president. It used to be 90%.
- 1:30:31Speaker 31: This summer it was 75% in July. And so in
- 1:30:36Speaker 31: two months it's dropped another eight points to 67%. And
- 1:30:41Speaker 31: that's not good for any Republican running this year anywhere
- 1:30:46Speaker 31: in the country because the Republican turnout is going to
- 1:30:49Speaker 31: be down. They're going to be depressed. Someone's called it
- 1:30:52Speaker 31: a red undertow.
- 1:30:55Speaker 42: Yeah.
- 1:30:55Speaker 31: That along with a high blue or Democratic turnout, there's
- 1:31:01Speaker 31: a depressed Republican turnout.
- 1:31:03Speaker 9: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:31:05Speaker 20: And, you know, and like you said, like he's his
- 1:31:08Speaker 20: own worst enemy. I mean, saying things even recently, like
- 1:31:11Speaker 20: let him attack, you know, L.A., you know, like these things.
- 1:31:16Speaker 20: These things hurt real people. Even if you're a Republican
- 1:31:19Speaker 20: and you're out there, statements like that, you know, in L.A.,
- 1:31:22Speaker 20: of course, there's military. In L.A., of course, there's women, children, police.
- 1:31:26Speaker 20: There's humans, right? So it's a complete disregard for everything.
- 1:31:32Speaker 20: And as you said there, you know, he's his own
- 1:31:36Speaker 20: worst enemy. He just keeps saying these things. You know, John,
- 1:31:40Speaker 20: I don't know. Like I said, I don't know what
- 1:31:42Speaker 20: to say either. Like, where's the line for the folks?
- 1:31:45Speaker 20: At what point do you say, oh, my God, enough
- 1:31:47Speaker 20: is enough?
- 1:31:50Speaker 31: Well, you say it on November 3rd. That's what's going
- 1:31:55Speaker 31: to happen. And the Republicans are going to have a
- 1:31:58Speaker 31: bad election this time. And it's Trump. I mean, the
- 1:32:04Speaker 31: Republicans have had to follow Trump. Any Republican who stood
- 1:32:07Speaker 31: up to Trump got wiped out. previously in primaries or
- 1:32:12Speaker 31: just Trump made sure the donors didn't give him any money,
- 1:32:16Speaker 31: ran a primary against him, the whole thing. So it's
- 1:32:19Speaker 31: his party, it's the Trump party, and it's Trump in
- 1:32:24Speaker 31: every issue. So he put the tariffs on, he started
- 1:32:27Speaker 31: the war, he rounded up all the people on the
- 1:32:30Speaker 31: streets that he said he wasn't going to round up.
- 1:32:33Speaker 31: It was supposed to be the worst of the worst,
- 1:32:35Speaker 31: not Maria the maid from next door. And he's just
- 1:32:39Speaker 31: gone too far. And that's why this election will be Democrat.
- 1:32:45Speaker 31: Not that the people are voting for the Democrats. No,
- 1:32:49Speaker 31: they're voting against Trump. And even though he's running around
- 1:32:54Speaker 31: now saying, well, just pretend I'm on the ballot.
- 1:32:57Speaker 35: Okay, great.
- 1:32:57Speaker 31: They don't have to pretend. His acolytes are on the ballot,
- 1:33:00Speaker 31: and the people are going to vote against him.
- 1:33:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:33:04Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: You know....
- 1:33:07Speaker 20: Do you see Trump or his team, do you see
- 1:33:09Speaker 20: them working actively to undermine this election? Do you feel that?
- 1:33:16Speaker 20: Is that happening? You know, there's so many rumors going
- 1:33:20Speaker 20: on with all of this. I mean, is this something
- 1:33:23Speaker 20: that you're feeling or you're seeing in any way, shape,
- 1:33:26Speaker 20: or form?
- 1:33:28Speaker 31: Not really. I mean, I know that they've talked about it.
- 1:33:30Speaker 31: I'm sure they're going to do some shenanigans with ICE.
- 1:33:33Speaker 40: Okay.
- 1:33:35Speaker 31: Putting people at the polls and stuff, and Democrats are
- 1:33:38Speaker 31: ready with a team of lawyers to go to the courts.
- 1:33:42Speaker 31: You can't have law enforcement inside polling places. They could
- 1:33:45Speaker 31: be outside. I guess that's the point. I just think
- 1:33:49Speaker 31: this election, what it feels like to me, is going
- 1:33:54Speaker 31: to be so overwhelmingly anti-Trump. that some ICE agents running
- 1:33:59Speaker 31: around aren't going to make a difference.
- 1:34:01Speaker 20: Okay.
- 1:34:02Speaker 31: I also don't think the inevitable, ah, it was rigged,
- 1:34:06Speaker 31: all that nonsense from Trump. Our elections are not rigged.
- 1:34:11Speaker 31: Our elections are the best in the world. Our counting
- 1:34:15Speaker 31: of the votes is the best in the world. Yeah,
- 1:34:17Speaker 31: it's frustrating sometimes because some states do it differently than others. Florida,
- 1:34:21Speaker 31: after the debacle of 2000, the hanging chads and all that.
- 1:34:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:34:27Speaker 31: They spent a lot of money. They modernized their system.
- 1:34:30Speaker 31: And they count every vote, including absentees and mail-in votes,
- 1:34:35Speaker 31: all that, the day of the election. So on election night,
- 1:34:38Speaker 31: you get the final tally. You don't get that here
- 1:34:42Speaker 31: in New York. The votes keep coming in. They don't
- 1:34:45Speaker 31: count them until Friday after the Tuesday election. And it's
- 1:34:49Speaker 31: an antiquated system. But it's not crooked. And both parties
- 1:34:54Speaker 31: together monitor what goes on in these states. And yet
- 1:34:58Speaker 31: Trump's running around, oh, it's all rigged.
- 1:35:01Speaker 20: Well, that's an important point about the monitoring.
- 1:35:03Speaker 31: He's the one that tried to rig it, you know,
- 1:35:05Speaker 31: when he called up Brad Raffensperger and said, I need 11,000 votes.
- 1:35:09Speaker 25: Yeah.
- 1:35:09Speaker 40: Yeah.
- 1:35:12Speaker 20: Yeah, I mean, but that's a great point. I mean,
- 1:35:15Speaker 20: these elections, you know, on some of the narratives that
- 1:35:19Speaker 20: you might hear from Republicans, you would think that only
- 1:35:24Speaker 20: Democrats are in the polling booths and just running the
- 1:35:26Speaker 20: entire election. And it's both sides, right? That's how it works, right?
- 1:35:30Speaker 20: There are representatives in each of these, and then it
- 1:35:33Speaker 20: gets approved at the end. Is this the process? I mean, right?
- 1:35:38Speaker 31: Well, here in New York, when you go into your
- 1:35:41Speaker 31: polling place, There are equal numbers of Republican and Democratic
- 1:35:45Speaker 31: workers at the tables with the books to sign you in.
- 1:35:49Speaker 7: Okay.
- 1:35:49Speaker 31: Then you go take your ballot, go to the machine,
- 1:35:51Speaker 31: put it in.
- 1:35:52Speaker 62: There is a.
- 1:35:52Speaker 31: Paper ballot now. No more of the flipping of the
- 1:35:57Speaker 31: switches in there. Now you mark the ballot manually with
- 1:36:01Speaker 31: a pen, and then you go to the machine and
- 1:36:04Speaker 31: feed it into the machine. So there is a copy.
- 1:36:07Speaker 31: That paper copy is sitting in that machine. At the
- 1:36:11Speaker 31: end of the day... When they open every machine in
- 1:36:14Speaker 31: the state, there is a Republican and a Democrat doing
- 1:36:18Speaker 31: it together, watching it together, writing down the numbers together,
- 1:36:22Speaker 31: sending it to wherever it goes, Mineola here in Nassau County.
- 1:36:26Speaker 31: This is all done by the two parties to make
- 1:36:29Speaker 31: sure there isn't any fraud. And I'm so tired of
- 1:36:33Speaker 31: unknowledgeable people telling me these things are fraudulent. Well, they're not.
- 1:36:38Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 1:36:39Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:36:40Speaker 20: And that scenario, I know it's just New York City,
- 1:36:43Speaker 20: but that is the basic of all the states, right?
- 1:36:46Speaker 20: I'm on Long Island, not New York City. I mean,
- 1:36:49Speaker 20: Long Island. The whole state.
- 1:36:50Speaker 31: The whole state does it this way. Right.
- 1:36:52Speaker 20: And most states do it this way. Yeah, yeah, right.
- 1:36:54Speaker 20: It's not like you're going to go to one state
- 1:36:56Speaker 20: and it's just going to be one party in there.
- 1:36:57Speaker 20: It's still going to have that representation across, correct?
- 1:37:01Speaker 31: Correct. When people say things are rigged, I'll tell you
- 1:37:04Speaker 31: what is rigged politically. Not so much here in New York.
- 1:37:08Speaker 31: I'm not sure about Connecticut, but a lot of states
- 1:37:12Speaker 31: only have two parties on the ballot. And so if
- 1:37:16Speaker 31: you're a Ross Perot or if you're, you know, whoever,
- 1:37:19Speaker 31: you want to run for office, not as a Republican
- 1:37:23Speaker 31: or Democrat, to get on the ballot is very difficult.
- 1:37:26Speaker 31: And the two parties have conspired to keep third candidates
- 1:37:32Speaker 31: off the ballot and enacted petition rules that are really
- 1:37:38Speaker 31: hard to meet. You have to get a certain number
- 1:37:40Speaker 31: of signatures to get on the ballot, and then they
- 1:37:43Speaker 31: take you to court to challenge the signatures. I mean,
- 1:37:45Speaker 31: it's a daunting task. That's rigged, okay? That's the two
- 1:37:49Speaker 31: parties rigging it to keep you out, you, the third-party candidate,
- 1:37:55Speaker 31: or whatever. But other than that, the actual counting of
- 1:37:58Speaker 31: the votes and all that, it's not rigged. It's good.
- 1:38:00Speaker 31: It's honest. You can have faith in it.
- 1:38:02Speaker 20: How about the redrawing of the maps and that? What
- 1:38:05Speaker 20: do you feel? Does that rig it?
- 1:38:09Speaker 31: Well, I think it ends up in a state that
- 1:38:11Speaker 31: you're going to laugh. I think that legally rigs it.
- 1:38:15Speaker 20: Legally, actually.
- 1:38:16Speaker 31: Legally, yeah, because it's always been that the winning party
- 1:38:20Speaker 31: controls the legislature. And let's just say you take a
- 1:38:24Speaker 31: state where the governor and both legislative bodies are all
- 1:38:30Speaker 31: of the same party.
- 1:38:32Speaker 28: Okay.
- 1:38:33Speaker 31: Well, what do you think they're going to do? They're
- 1:38:34Speaker 31: going to draw the lines for state representative Congress favorable
- 1:38:40Speaker 31: to their party. Of course they are. That's the way
- 1:38:42Speaker 31: the system was set up.
- 1:38:44Speaker 42: Yeah.
- 1:38:44Speaker 31: And I've never really had a problem with it. I
- 1:38:47Speaker 31: don't like, didn't like what Trump did last year with
- 1:38:50Speaker 31: the mid-decade redistricting. Because the Constitution says we redistrict after
- 1:38:57Speaker 31: the census every 10 years. And that's what we always did.
- 1:39:03Speaker 31: Now he wants to, he redid it last year, thought
- 1:39:06Speaker 31: he got himself more seats. And we'll find out after
- 1:39:11Speaker 31: November 3rd, but it could be that he's going to
- 1:39:13Speaker 31: lose some seats because of that, because he took red
- 1:39:17Speaker 31: voters out of solid red states in Texas, red districts,
- 1:39:21Speaker 31: I mean, and moved them into other districts to make
- 1:39:24Speaker 31: them red. And what he did is he watered down
- 1:39:27Speaker 31: the red votes in each district. If there's a blue wave,
- 1:39:32Speaker 31: which it looks like there will be, that may sweep
- 1:39:36Speaker 31: out some of those– Republican seats.
- 1:39:40Speaker 30: Right.
- 1:39:41Speaker 20: And the Democrats answered with their own shenanigans with that, correct?
- 1:39:45Speaker 20: I mean, they did.
- 1:39:45Speaker 21: Yeah.
- 1:39:46Speaker 31: But in all fairness, in all fairness, they didn't start it.
- 1:39:50Speaker 31: They didn't want to do it.
- 1:39:51Speaker 3: OK.
- 1:39:52Speaker 31: But they weren't going to sit by idly while Trump
- 1:39:55Speaker 31: just went willy nilly.
- 1:39:56Speaker 42: Right.
- 1:39:56Speaker 31: All over the South. You know, he tried it in Georgia.
- 1:40:00Speaker 42: Yeah.
- 1:40:01Speaker 31: Tennessee, Missouri, Utah, everywhere. And the Democrats said, screw this.
- 1:40:07Speaker 60: We're not.
- 1:40:07Speaker 31: And so they did California. They're going to pick up
- 1:40:10Speaker 31: some blue seats in California. And they picked up a
- 1:40:15Speaker 31: couple others. It's going to end up being a wash,
- 1:40:19Speaker 31: I think. It won't be a big factor.
- 1:40:21Speaker 21: I think.
- 1:40:22Speaker 31: But we don't know. If it's a close election for
- 1:40:25Speaker 31: the Congress, it could come down to one seat.
- 1:40:28Speaker 30: Right, right.
- 1:40:29Speaker 20: Well, we have a caller here, John. Would you like
- 1:40:31Speaker 20: to take a caller?
- 1:40:33Speaker 8: Maybe.
- 1:40:33Speaker 20: Hi, John.
- 1:40:34Speaker 25: This is Annie. Why is it that almost every single
- 1:40:37Speaker 25: time you hear of a ballot conspiracy, vote dump, late-night
- 1:40:42Speaker 25: explosions of voting, ballot stuffing, nursing home ballots being filled
- 1:40:46Speaker 25: out for Democrats, illegals voting, it never seems to be
- 1:40:50Speaker 25: the Republicans who are bending the rules. Oh, am I wrong?
- 1:40:54Speaker 20: All right, I didn't realize.
- 1:40:58Speaker 11: Well, actually, that's a.
- 1:40:59Speaker 31: Great question, but in fact, of.
- 1:41:05Speaker 31: In 2024, of cases of election fraud that were prosecuted
- 1:41:13Speaker 31: in this country, almost everyone— and there were like seven of them,
- 1:41:17Speaker 31: seven out of 150 million people.
- 1:41:20Speaker 20: Okay.
- 1:41:22Speaker 31: I think like five of them voted for Trump. So,
- 1:41:26Speaker 31: I mean, there is no election fraud. It's all just
- 1:41:30Speaker 31: BS from Trump.
- 1:41:32Speaker 20: Yeah, it's—you know, that's— I feel that that's his his
- 1:41:37Speaker 20: narrative to, you know, if he doesn't get the results
- 1:41:42Speaker 20: he wants to use to pull some other shenanigans after
- 1:41:47Speaker 20: the fact. That's just that's just me thinking and kind
- 1:41:50Speaker 20: of like looking looking forward of why you would continuously undermine.
- 1:41:54Speaker 11: Like what?
- 1:41:55Speaker 20: Why would he continuously undermine our elections, which you have
- 1:41:58Speaker 20: said many times are very fair? And as we just discussed,
- 1:42:03Speaker 20: represented on both sides of the aisle every single time.
- 1:42:06Speaker 20: Why continuously degrade this– the institution of our election system
- 1:42:13Speaker 20: to the point where nobody believes in him? Why do it?
- 1:42:17Speaker 31: Well, I think he does it because he wants to
- 1:42:19Speaker 31: destroy every institution that in any way could restrain him
- 1:42:25Speaker 31: so that he can be the guy. I mean, go
- 1:42:27Speaker 31: back to 2016, the convention. when he first got nominated
- 1:42:31Speaker 31: to run. Of course, he would go on to win,
- 1:42:33Speaker 31: but it was the summer of 2016 when he comes
- 1:42:37Speaker 31: out in his silhouette on the stage, this hero riding
- 1:42:40Speaker 31: to the rescue, and I alone can fix it. Only
- 1:42:46Speaker 31: I can fix all these problems. I know more about
- 1:42:49Speaker 31: the military than the generals. I know more about Europe
- 1:42:54Speaker 31: than the Europeans. I mean, I have just this constant nonsense.
- 1:42:58Speaker 31: A guy that actually doesn't know much about anything. He's
- 1:43:02Speaker 31: a BS artist. And we've all gone to school with
- 1:43:04Speaker 31: guys like this. They string a lot of words together,
- 1:43:08Speaker 31: sound like they're knowledgeable. And then when you spend some
- 1:43:12Speaker 31: time with them, you realize it's all a front. They're
- 1:43:15Speaker 31: a mess behind the mask.
- 1:43:18Speaker 20: And that's Trump.
- 1:43:19Speaker 31: It has taken this country 10 years to figure out
- 1:43:24Speaker 31: what I knew 40 years ago. The guy's a fraud.
- 1:43:28Speaker 31: And he lies and makes it up every second. Ah,
- 1:43:33Speaker 31: the war will be over in a week, and we're
- 1:43:36Speaker 31: going to stop the nuclear program, and we're going to
- 1:43:38Speaker 31: get the Strait of Hormuzo. In fact, I'm going to
- 1:43:40Speaker 31: rename it the Strait of Trump. Who's ever heard of
- 1:43:42Speaker 31: such a thing? And here we are seven months later,
- 1:43:45Speaker 31: and he's gearing up to go back and bomb the
- 1:43:47Speaker 31: hell out of them again, even though we're running out
- 1:43:50Speaker 31: of ammunition. All our bases in the Middle East have
- 1:43:53Speaker 31: been hit by the Iranians, not reportedly. heavily because they
- 1:43:57Speaker 31: won't let the media see the bases.
- 1:43:59Speaker 5: Right, right.
- 1:44:00Speaker 31: This thing's a fiasco because Trump is a fiasco. He's
- 1:44:05Speaker 31: a terrible leader.
- 1:44:07Speaker 20: Yeah. And still in all this seven months, our allies
- 1:44:12Speaker 20: have not jumped in to help us in any way, right? No.
- 1:44:15Speaker 31: Well, other than Israel, which might even have started the thing,
- 1:44:19Speaker 31: but is a good ally of ours. Yeah. Yeah. No
- 1:44:23Speaker 31: one wants any part of this thing. You know why?
- 1:44:25Speaker 31: Because their populaces don't want any part of it. The
- 1:44:28Speaker 31: French talked about helping to clear the Strait of Hormuz.
- 1:44:33Speaker 31: I don't know if they're doing anything, but the French
- 1:44:35Speaker 31: don't want it. The English don't want it. The Germans
- 1:44:38Speaker 31: don't want it. The whole thing. Even the Arab countries
- 1:44:43Speaker 31: that are our allies, the Gulf states, they don't want
- 1:44:46Speaker 31: this war. And yet Trump said, I know more than anybody.
- 1:44:51Speaker 31: I'm going to do it.
- 1:44:53Speaker 20: Well, what's his off-ramp? I mean, we have an election
- 1:44:55Speaker 20: coming up. I mean, we're still in this war. Gas
- 1:44:58Speaker 20: prices are still high. I mean, $ 4. 39 today for me.
- 1:45:03Speaker 20: What's his off-ramp? Does he even have one?
- 1:45:07Speaker 31: Well, he may have a cosmetic one. I don't rule
- 1:45:10Speaker 31: out in the next week, with three weeks to go,
- 1:45:15Speaker 31: I could see Trump pulling an announcement saying, that the
- 1:45:20Speaker 31: war's over and that he's made a deal with the Iranians. Now,
- 1:45:23Speaker 31: he already made one, and both sides didn't live up
- 1:45:27Speaker 31: to it. That was the memorandum of understanding. I could
- 1:45:31Speaker 31: see this talk about him bombing again. That may be
- 1:45:35Speaker 31: to push the Iranians a little bit to agree to something,
- 1:45:38Speaker 31: and maybe they'll make an announcement next week with three
- 1:45:42Speaker 31: weeks before the election. We've settled the war, and I'm
- 1:45:45Speaker 31: bringing another couple shifts home. It could be something like that.
- 1:45:49Speaker 31: I wouldn't believe a word of it. It would be
- 1:45:51Speaker 31: done strictly for the campaign. And Trump changes his opinion
- 1:45:58Speaker 31: every five minutes. I don't think there's an off-ramp until
- 1:46:02Speaker 31: after the election. If the election's bad for Trump, then
- 1:46:08Speaker 31: everything we've talked about and more will be totally different,
- 1:46:13Speaker 31: including his presidency will be on the deep downslope from
- 1:46:18Speaker 31: November 4th on Yeah.
- 1:46:20Speaker 20: I mean, if the Democrats take the House and Senate,
- 1:46:24Speaker 20: I mean, litigation and so much more is in Trump's future.
- 1:46:30Speaker 20: I mean, that's just what it is.
- 1:46:34Speaker 31: Well, Steve, there's that, and that's big. But there's even,
- 1:46:39Speaker 31: in my view, a bigger thing, which is up till
- 1:46:42Speaker 31: this November, Trump has been the president in this term
- 1:46:46Speaker 31: for almost two years. And This is the first time
- 1:46:50Speaker 31: nationally that people get to tell him what they think
- 1:46:55Speaker 31: of him. And so, yeah, it'll be by electing a
- 1:47:00Speaker 31: House and Senate, the other party. But it's a bigger thing.
- 1:47:04Speaker 31: We're saying we don't want what you're doing. We don't
- 1:47:08Speaker 31: want all this stuff. And he then needs to either
- 1:47:13Speaker 31: acknowledge it. Because you need to govern with the consent
- 1:47:19Speaker 31: of the governed. And he's going to be getting the non-consent,
- 1:47:24Speaker 31: the opposite. They're telling him, we don't consent to this.
- 1:47:27Speaker 31: And we're expressing it by voting on November 3rd and
- 1:47:31Speaker 31: leading up to it in the early voting. It's happening
- 1:47:34Speaker 31: right now. The early numbers on mail-in ballots being passed.
- 1:47:39Speaker 31: requested and sent yeah democrats are way ahead of republicans
- 1:47:43Speaker 31: nationally you know already in a couple of million votes
- 1:47:47Speaker 31: have been cast you don't know who they vote for
- 1:47:49Speaker 31: but you know who is voting and more democrats are
- 1:47:53Speaker 31: voting than republicans all right.
- 1:47:55Speaker 20: Well john thank you again we look forward to our
- 1:47:57Speaker 20: conversation next week and continuing this and uh you're listening
- 1:48:01Speaker 20: to 94.9 news now we'll be back.
- 1:48:09Speaker 36: Keep your eyes on the road, your hand on the wheel.
- 1:48:10Speaker 3: On 94.9 News Now. Road construction in Old Lyme. I-95
- 1:48:14Speaker 3: southbound exit.
- 1:48:17Speaker 36: 70 to exit 67. The left lane is closed.
- 1:48:32Speaker 8: Road construction continues on the Gold Star Bridge. Route 12

- 1:59:04Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:59:05Speaker 20: We are back on a little technical difficulty after a
- 1:59:07Speaker 20: little jamming in the studio. And I am here with
- 1:59:11Speaker 20: my friends. Casey O'Neill of the Day Paper. Casey, what's happening?
- 1:59:15Speaker 36: Hi, Steve.
- 1:59:16Speaker 11: How are we doing this morning? That was good.
- 1:59:17Speaker 61: We were dancing a little bit there. Listen, there's nothing
- 1:59:21Speaker 61: that gets you up out of your seat. And the kids,
- 1:59:25Speaker 61: they all love the techno. They all love the EDM.
- 1:59:26Speaker 11: We've got that.
- 1:59:28Speaker 20: That's our new thing, and we have a good time
- 1:59:30Speaker 20: with that. You know, what's happening? I know you got
- 1:59:34Speaker 20: a game day tonight, right? Tell us about that.
- 1:59:37Speaker 5: We do.
- 1:59:37Speaker 61: So we are at Montville High School tonight, Stonington versus Montville.
- 1:59:41Speaker 61: And the question everyone's asking is, why aren't you doing
- 1:59:44Speaker 61: New London and Fitch? And I will say that the
- 1:59:48Speaker 61: short answer to that is because... We're doing New London
- 1:59:50Speaker 61: four times. So, you know, when we have when you
- 1:59:52Speaker 61: have a 12 game schedule, you know, it's really hard.
- 1:59:55Speaker 61: But it is no story has captivated the ECC, the
- 2:00:01Speaker 61: eastern half of the state, like Jack Cochran's return to
- 2:00:03Speaker 61: New London, like the success that they have had. So
- 2:00:06Speaker 61: it's all anybody wants to talk about. Everyone wants to know,
- 2:00:09Speaker 61: you know. What's going on with New London? What do
- 2:00:11Speaker 61: you think about New London? What do you think about Jack?
- 2:00:14Speaker 61: But we will be at Montville High School tonight, Montville
- 2:00:17Speaker 61: and Stonington, in our continued effort to showcase as many
- 2:00:21Speaker 61: different schools as possible.
- 2:00:25Speaker 11: We choose the schools to.
- 2:00:26Speaker 61: Get as many as we can, and then as we
- 2:00:28Speaker 61: head toward the end of October into November— We start
- 2:00:32Speaker 61: to try to— so, you know, we will be doing New
- 2:00:35Speaker 61: London and Ledger. We will be doing New London and Waterford.
- 2:00:37Speaker 61: We will be doing New London and NFA. But up
- 2:00:40Speaker 61: until those games, it's like, let's take our opportunity to
- 2:00:43Speaker 61: get as many schools as possible. So that's—you know, give
- 2:00:45Speaker 61: a little shine to Montville and Stonington tonight.
- 2:00:47Speaker 21: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:00:48Speaker 20: No, and, you know, listen, I heard recently, too. I mean,
- 2:00:51Speaker 20: you guys are doing all this, but I heard recently
- 2:00:53Speaker 20: the day had a flooding in it. You know, and
- 2:00:59Speaker 20: I worked down in New London myself. So when I
- 2:01:01Speaker 20: heard that and I saw wet floors everywhere and nobody
- 2:01:03Speaker 20: could be in there, I mean, tell us what happened.
- 2:01:05Speaker 61: Well, the new building has apartments being constructed above them. And,
- 2:01:12Speaker 61: you know, when you're doing construction above, sometimes it affects
- 2:01:16Speaker 61: the first floor, which is now us. And we had
- 2:01:20Speaker 61: all that rain. and something happened where somebody zigged when
- 2:01:26Speaker 61: they should have zagged, and we had a little rainforest
- 2:01:29Speaker 61: cafe going on in our building for a couple days.
- 2:01:32Speaker 61: Good news is that we are nothing if not resilient,
- 2:01:36Speaker 61: and all of our go-with-the-flow nature has been it. This
- 2:01:43Speaker 61: is not a pat on the back by any stretch,
- 2:01:46Speaker 61: but I really do give an enormous amount of credit
- 2:01:50Speaker 61: to the people who show up every day in that building,
- 2:01:53Speaker 61: and then we're told, like, yeah, you got to keep going, right?
- 2:01:56Speaker 11: The paper can't stop.
- 2:01:56Speaker 61: It's not like we can tell John Penny, like, no,
- 2:01:59Speaker 61: you don't have to write a story because... because we
- 2:02:02Speaker 61: don't have good conditions right now. So we all bounced
- 2:02:05Speaker 61: around and did our thing, and we're back in business.
- 2:02:08Speaker 20: So it's back in business. Because I know you guys
- 2:02:11Speaker 20: have debates coming up, right? Yes. And that's going to
- 2:02:13Speaker 20: be in the studio that was flooded, correct?
- 2:02:16Speaker 61: So the studio, fortunately, was one of the least affected rooms.
- 2:02:23Speaker 61: And the reason for that is it already had a leak.
- 2:02:27Speaker 61: So they had already kind of addressed it.
- 2:02:28Speaker 20: I see.
- 2:02:29Speaker 61: So it didn't get really that affected. So the studio
- 2:02:31Speaker 61: was mostly affected. One corner panel, not a big deal. So, yes,
- 2:02:37Speaker 61: the debates will be in the studio. We're back doing
- 2:02:39Speaker 61: content in the studio.
- 2:02:40Speaker 20: Tell us about those. I mean, are you going to
- 2:02:42Speaker 20: be part of the debates? And what type of format
- 2:02:46Speaker 20: are they going to have? I mean, this is people,
- 2:02:48Speaker 20: you know, the day now with their game day has,
- 2:02:51Speaker 20: you know, made a name for themselves with some video
- 2:02:54Speaker 20: and some content. So this is, you know, new. And
- 2:02:57Speaker 20: I think this is going to be big. So how
- 2:02:59Speaker 20: is it going to be broadcast? How are you marketing it?
- 2:03:01Speaker 20: What are we going to see here?
- 2:03:03Speaker 61: That's a great question and one that I am ill-equipped
- 2:03:06Speaker 61: to answer, but I'll.
- 2:03:07Speaker 11: Tell you what I do know.
- 2:03:09Speaker 61: The studio is going to be set up so that
- 2:03:11Speaker 61: both candidates are on screen, on camera. There will be,
- 2:03:16Speaker 61: I believe, multiple people asking questions. So it won't be
- 2:03:20Speaker 61: just one moderator. It'll be multiple people. Each candidate will
- 2:03:23Speaker 61: have their opportunity, the equal time on the air for
- 2:03:26Speaker 61: their answers. And the debate will occur right there in
- 2:03:28Speaker 61: the studios. Now, the studio is not huge. I mean,
- 2:03:31Speaker 61: it's not a mega palace like this one.
- 2:03:32Speaker 11: No, I've seen it.
- 2:03:34Speaker 20: It's nice, though.
- 2:03:35Speaker 3: Yeah, it is.
- 2:03:35Speaker 61: So there is a limit to how many people you're
- 2:03:38Speaker 61: going to get in there. So I think the two candidates,
- 2:03:40Speaker 61: I think the two moderators, if you will. Are you
- 2:03:44Speaker 61: a moderator?
- 2:03:44Speaker 5: I'm not.
- 2:03:45Speaker 35: I am a.
- 2:03:47Speaker 61: I think they're going to use the newsroom for that,
- 2:03:50Speaker 61: which I'm completely– I think that's what they should be doing.
- 2:03:55Speaker 11: And I'm assuming that the great Peter Wapie will be
- 2:03:59Speaker 11: the producer of it, the tech guy. But they're looking
- 2:04:03Speaker 11: forward to it.
- 2:04:03Speaker 61: I'm just getting some of the news about it in
- 2:04:06Speaker 61: the past couple of days. I want to be– I
- 2:04:09Speaker 61: actually want to be in the building.
- 2:04:10Speaker 21: Yeah.
- 2:04:11Speaker 11: When they're going on.
- 2:04:11Speaker 20: I think it's going to be a lot. So, so is,
- 2:04:13Speaker 20: is that get broadcast live on the website? Like how,
- 2:04:17Speaker 20: how does I, how do I see, is it just
- 2:04:19Speaker 20: social media?
- 2:04:20Speaker 11: How does this work?
- 2:04:20Speaker 61: So, you know, the, the day.com generally provides you with
- 2:04:25Speaker 61: the link to, uh, the videos, but all of the days,
- 2:04:29Speaker 61: so the day has social media, all of the social
- 2:04:31Speaker 61: media channels will have it.
- 2:04:33Speaker 11: And the day has a YouTube channel.
- 2:04:34Speaker 61: So you're going to, you know, the modern, uh, just
- 2:04:37Speaker 61: like game day goes up on, YouTube. And if you
- 2:04:41Speaker 61: have Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, you can watch it there as well. Similarly,
- 2:04:47Speaker 61: that's how we live stream things. So I'm going to
- 2:04:51Speaker 61: assume there's going to be a big link on theday.com,
- 2:04:53Speaker 61: which will take you to the YouTube channel and you
- 2:04:55Speaker 61: can probably watch it live.
- 2:04:56Speaker 20: Watch it live on YouTube.
- 2:04:57Speaker 5: So that's how it works.
- 2:04:57Speaker 20: It's not going to be like just scrolling live on
- 2:04:59Speaker 20: the website.
- 2:05:00Speaker 11: It'll be a link. That's what you think.
- 2:05:01Speaker 61: My understanding is that it'll be a link and you'll
- 2:05:03Speaker 61: be able to watch it live, which is, I mean,
- 2:05:06Speaker 61: I don't think anybody wants to watch a debate format
- 2:05:09Speaker 61: that's not instant, right?
- 2:05:11Speaker 11: They want to be.
- 2:05:11Speaker 20: Able to be in the moment.
- 2:05:13Speaker 11: What I don't know.
- 2:05:15Speaker 61: Is if the public's going to have the ability to
- 2:05:20Speaker 61: throw comments in or questions in, or if it's just
- 2:05:23Speaker 61: going to be a broadcast out.
- 2:05:26Speaker 11: I don't know those details.
- 2:05:29Speaker 61: And I don't know, I think they're probably still resolving
- 2:05:32Speaker 61: a lot of that as well, because I think the
- 2:05:33Speaker 61: candidates have.
- 2:05:35Speaker 11: Say in the form.
- 2:05:36Speaker 20: Yeah, yeah, I think they do. And I know, you know,
- 2:05:40Speaker 20: the voice of freedom will be on there and many others.
- 2:05:43Speaker 20: And I you know, it's going to be it's a
- 2:05:45Speaker 20: it's a great, I think, newfangled way for the day
- 2:05:49Speaker 20: to kind of step into this to this arena. Um,
- 2:05:52Speaker 20: and I, and I'm, I'm looking forward to seeing how
- 2:05:54Speaker 20: it looks. I mean, you know, I listen, I've been
- 2:05:56Speaker 20: in the studio.
- 2:05:57Speaker 37: Yeah.
- 2:05:57Speaker 20: It isn't, it isn't the studio that you like, you know,
- 2:06:00Speaker 20: are you going to have a backdrop?
- 2:06:01Speaker 2: Are you going to have like, you.
- 2:06:02Speaker 20: Know, tell us.
- 2:06:03Speaker 10: Okay.
- 2:06:03Speaker 20: So, so it is going to be decorated.
- 2:06:05Speaker 40: Yeah.
- 2:06:05Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 2:06:06Speaker 20: To theme.
- 2:06:06Speaker 37: Yeah.
- 2:06:07Speaker 61: Um, I mean, so the studio has a green screen, uh,
- 2:06:10Speaker 61: which could be in, could be employed. It also has
- 2:06:13Speaker 61: a dropdown with the day logo and stuff on it. So,
- 2:06:15Speaker 61: I mean, some, it'll, there will be some form of, uh,
- 2:06:20Speaker 61: set up a setting, if you will. If you're somebody
- 2:06:24Speaker 61: out there who is on social media and you follow
- 2:06:27Speaker 61: the day, you will have seen that the day is
- 2:06:30Speaker 61: making a concerted effort to become video-driven as well. It's
- 2:06:36Speaker 61: more than just You know, you can always pick up
- 2:06:39Speaker 61: the hard copy newspaper. You can always go online and
- 2:06:42Speaker 61: read it at the day dot com. But it's got
- 2:06:44Speaker 61: to be more than just articles in print.
- 2:06:46Speaker 40: Right.
- 2:06:46Speaker 11: And pictures. There's got to be video.
- 2:06:47Speaker 61: And they're doing a much better job now of getting video,
- 2:06:51Speaker 61: both content and like little vignettes and things about about
- 2:06:55Speaker 61: the actual reporters, like the meet the meet the reporters
- 2:06:58Speaker 61: of the day, which is really great because I think that's.
- 2:07:00Speaker 37: Yeah.
- 2:07:01Speaker 11: Everyone has sort of their favorite person that they they
- 2:07:03Speaker 11: like to read.
- 2:07:04Speaker 20: Yeah.
- 2:07:05Speaker 11: And, you know, you get to know these people.
- 2:07:06Speaker 61: So, yeah, I actually do really think that the day
- 2:07:10Speaker 61: is is heading in a great direction in terms of
- 2:07:14Speaker 61: how its content is getting out to the.
- 2:07:16Speaker 20: It's it's resembling more of a news station than than
- 2:07:20Speaker 20: a than a print station. facility, right? I mean, this
- 2:07:24Speaker 20: is the evolution, right? And you and I have been
- 2:07:26Speaker 20: part of this evolution for quite some time. For a
- 2:07:29Speaker 20: long time. We have our history with that, but I mean,
- 2:07:33Speaker 20: it's finally actually starting to happen, right?
- 2:07:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:07:38Speaker 61: I can say with 100% certainty that the people in
- 2:07:43Speaker 61: control of the day are committed to evolving and committed.
- 2:07:50Speaker 11: To Walking what is a– here's the difficult line.
- 2:07:55Speaker 61: The day as the last independent newspaper in the state
- 2:07:59Speaker 61: and as a– a small business community partner has a
- 2:08:02Speaker 61: set of ethics that it needs to to uphold it
- 2:08:05Speaker 61: is still at the end of the day a journalism
- 2:08:08Speaker 61: driven it's you know it's a it's a it's a
- 2:08:10Speaker 61: media and it takes its standards very very seriously right
- 2:08:14Speaker 61: when you start getting into The immediacy of video, the
- 2:08:19Speaker 61: immediacy of who's– it used to be who got the
- 2:08:22Speaker 61: story right.
- 2:08:23Speaker 11: Then it became who got the story first.
- 2:08:25Speaker 37: Yeah.
- 2:08:26Speaker 61: Even if they got the story wrong. And so the
- 2:08:29Speaker 61: day is still holding on to, no, we're going to
- 2:08:31Speaker 61: get it right rather than be first. But they want
- 2:08:34Speaker 61: to try to get how you absorb the information into
- 2:08:39Speaker 61: a more modern format. So people– they want to see
- 2:08:44Speaker 61: as much as they want to read. Actually, they want
- 2:08:45Speaker 61: to see more than they want to read.
- 2:08:47Speaker 11: Yeah, I would argue that.
- 2:08:49Speaker 61: So they're making that transition to where I think you're
- 2:08:52Speaker 61: going to see more and more. So Game Day was
- 2:08:55Speaker 61: really the first product of the day that was entirely visual,
- 2:08:59Speaker 61: entirely digital. You're going to see more and more stuff
- 2:09:03Speaker 61: on the social media, more and more stuff on YouTube,
- 2:09:07Speaker 61: more and more stuff on theday.com. They are undergoing, there's
- 2:09:10Speaker 61: going to be a new Web design, new website, which
- 2:09:13Speaker 61: is going to make it a more– They need an app.
- 2:09:16Speaker 20: And they need a user-friendly app for people to upload content,
- 2:09:20Speaker 20: meaning I see something now, I put it up now,
- 2:09:24Speaker 20: and there it is.
- 2:09:25Speaker 61: So I've been advocating that actually as well.
- 2:09:27Speaker 11: That will come. The first thing– And it's a surprise.
- 2:09:30Speaker 20: I'm just going to be honest. Everything has an app.
- 2:09:32Speaker 20: So to realize that today a journalism, a story-driven community
- 2:09:38Speaker 20: thing doesn't have an app is almost silly.
- 2:09:41Speaker 61: I think you'll see one coming in the future. I
- 2:09:44Speaker 61: think the first thing is to get the website to
- 2:09:46Speaker 61: be more friendly for people to navigate and also to
- 2:09:51Speaker 61: find exactly what you're talking about.
- 2:09:53Speaker 11: Because as you start to build up.
- 2:09:55Speaker 61: A library of video, you need to have the ability
- 2:09:59Speaker 61: for people to access it after the fact as well.
- 2:10:01Speaker 61: But I do believe that all of that's heading in
- 2:10:04Speaker 61: the right direction. And I'd like to think that Game
- 2:10:06Speaker 61: Day showed the.
- 2:10:11Speaker 61: Interest of the community showed that people still want that
- 2:10:15Speaker 61: kind of content.
- 2:10:16Speaker 20: Look, what's great about Game Day and anything in the
- 2:10:18Speaker 20: visual content is you start to highlight people, real people
- 2:10:22Speaker 20: in our community. And in Game Day's instance, it's kids
- 2:10:28Speaker 20: in high school sports. So this is a big deal.
- 2:10:32Speaker 20: But that model can really be extrapolated into many different
- 2:10:37Speaker 20: areas in our community. And, you know, you start highlighting people,
- 2:10:40Speaker 20: business owners, you know, artists, whatever it's going to be.
- 2:10:44Speaker 20: You know, there is a will for the local community
- 2:10:48Speaker 20: to want to know more about this. More so than
- 2:10:53Speaker 20: the Trump administration, which we hear on every feed of our,
- 2:10:56Speaker 20: you know, we can't get away from that.
- 2:10:58Speaker 2: No, no.
- 2:10:59Speaker 20: So when I hear a refreshing story about a young
- 2:11:01Speaker 20: athlete who, you know, does his thing or her thing...
- 2:11:06Speaker 20: it's awesome. And it's, it's, and I'm, and I'm stopped
- 2:11:09Speaker 20: in my tracks to learn more about this, even though
- 2:11:11Speaker 20: I have no real interest in it only because it's
- 2:11:13Speaker 20: human and it's in my community.
- 2:11:15Speaker 14: Sure.
- 2:11:15Speaker 61: And I think our most popular, uh, videos are the weekly, uh,
- 2:11:20Speaker 61: player spotlights that we do, which are the vignettes on
- 2:11:23Speaker 61: the players from the teams, uh, sponsored by Mashantucket Pequot
- 2:11:26Speaker 61: Tribal Nation. Uh, and they are widely received because what,
- 2:11:33Speaker 61: These have evolved as well. You go to the coach
- 2:11:35Speaker 61: and you say, hey, we need a story on a player.
- 2:11:37Speaker 11: And the coach goes... Oh, you're going to do it
- 2:11:39Speaker 11: on Steve Elsie.
- 2:11:40Speaker 61: He's a senior, and he's the first guy to show up,
- 2:11:41Speaker 61: and he plays six positions, and he's the last one
- 2:11:43Speaker 61: to leave, and he's a hard worker.
- 2:11:45Speaker 1: True story.
- 2:11:45Speaker 61: And then you go to the next team, and you go,
- 2:11:47Speaker 61: I need a story on a player.
- 2:11:49Speaker 11: And they go, oh, you're going to do it on
- 2:11:50Speaker 11: Casey O'Neal.
- 2:11:50Speaker 61: He's a senior, and he's the first one to show up,
- 2:11:52Speaker 61: and he's played six positions.
- 2:11:54Speaker 11: No one's interested in that story again.
- 2:11:56Speaker 61: So we tell the coaches, we need a story that's
- 2:11:59Speaker 61: interesting off the field, something different. And this is why
- 2:12:02Speaker 61: we get these really cool stories. And I'll just share
- 2:12:04Speaker 61: very quickly. the coach from Brantford, next week we're doing
- 2:12:08Speaker 61: Ledger and Brantford. Brantford, very good 3-1 team. The coach says,
- 2:12:12Speaker 61: I don't really have guys that do much off the field.
- 2:12:14Speaker 61: I got a bunch of senior football players. And I
- 2:12:17Speaker 61: was like, well, I bet you do. Let's figure something out.
- 2:12:19Speaker 61: So we get to Brantford, and he goes, you're going
- 2:12:21Speaker 61: to do the feature on.
- 2:12:24Speaker 2: Dom.
- 2:12:24Speaker 61: He's a sophomore. And I go, okay, what's interesting about Dom?
- 2:12:27Speaker 61: He's like, well, this summer, Dom told me he was
- 2:12:28Speaker 61: going to miss a bunch of football lifts. And I
- 2:12:31Speaker 61: asked him why. And he said, well, because he was
- 2:12:33Speaker 61: going to be competing in the Taekwondo Nationals, and I
- 2:12:37Speaker 61: was like, you have to understand, Dom is, Dom looks
- 2:12:40Speaker 61: like the kid that gets shoved into lockers. What I
- 2:12:43Speaker 61: quickly found out was, no one's shoving Dom into a locker.
- 2:12:48Speaker 61: He's like this soft-spoken, five-foot-nothing, 100-nothing, but he goes to the,
- 2:12:53Speaker 61: he's a Taekwondo guy, and he comes back, and the coach.
- 2:12:56Speaker 11: Goes, how'd you do? And he goes, I did okay.
- 2:12:58Speaker 11: And he goes, what'd you finish? He goes, fourth. He goes,
- 2:13:00Speaker 11: you finished fourth in the country? He goes, yeah.
- 2:13:04Speaker 61: And he's like, Okay, now I realize, like, I got
- 2:13:07Speaker 61: this kid who can take down my biggest lineman, and
- 2:13:10Speaker 61: he's just a real soft-spoken kid and stuff. So I
- 2:13:12Speaker 61: actually went out there with him, and I was like,
- 2:13:14Speaker 61: all right, show me what you would do as a
- 2:13:16Speaker 61: linebacker if I was coming at you.
- 2:13:18Speaker 7: And he did.
- 2:13:18Speaker 61: I go, now show me what you would do as
- 2:13:20Speaker 61: a taekwondo guy. And he put a kick in my ear.
- 2:13:24Speaker 61: I was like, yeah, no one's shoving Dom into a
- 2:13:26Speaker 61: locker at all.
- 2:13:27Speaker 11: But it's stories.
- 2:13:28Speaker 61: Like that where this shy, at the end of the day,
- 2:13:33Speaker 61: he's still a shy 15-year-old kid. And it was really,
- 2:13:36Speaker 61: really interesting to be able to have a conversation with him.
- 2:13:40Speaker 61: So it was really awesome.
- 2:13:44Speaker 20: Yeah. Those are the moments. Those are the stories that
- 2:13:50Speaker 20: are making it such a big success for you and
- 2:13:52Speaker 20: the day.
- 2:13:56Speaker 61: The Grade 8 is another thing that seizes on that.
- 2:13:59Speaker 61: When we first started doing the Grade 8, which was
- 2:14:01Speaker 61: the idea of let's the people– send your clips, right,
- 2:14:04Speaker 61: your clips. The first year that we ran the grade eight,
- 2:14:08Speaker 61: we would often have to go into the games that
- 2:14:13Speaker 61: we have done and actively search to get eight clips.
- 2:14:17Speaker 20: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:14:18Speaker 61: We get 65 clips a week sent to us now. People,
- 2:14:23Speaker 61: you know, from youth.
- 2:14:24Speaker 11: All the way through all the sports.
- 2:14:26Speaker 61: So the community recognizes, and I can't tell you, like,
- 2:14:33Speaker 61: the amount of times that I just hear, thank you
- 2:14:37Speaker 61: for putting a spotlight on these kids, you know, that,
- 2:14:42Speaker 61: which is all we're trying to do.
- 2:14:44Speaker 11: And, uh, we do it in a lot of different ways.
- 2:14:46Speaker 61: And, you know, the, the day has, you know, the contest,
- 2:14:49Speaker 61: the best of the best readers choice awards, the best
- 2:14:51Speaker 61: on the shoreline, those contests are designed to give the
- 2:14:55Speaker 61: people a voice in telling us who are your favorite
- 2:14:59Speaker 61: businesses and stuff like that. Similarly, Game Day is trying
- 2:15:03Speaker 61: to give the community a voice in what you want
- 2:15:06Speaker 61: to see, what you want to talk about, which is
- 2:15:07Speaker 61: why we have, you know, the power rankings and the
- 2:15:09Speaker 61: pick-ems and different content that's just designed where people can
- 2:15:14Speaker 61: weigh in in the moment and give us, you know,
- 2:15:16Speaker 61: kind of their thoughts and stuff. And that's really where
- 2:15:18Speaker 61: we've taken off. The studio is really where we've taken off.
- 2:15:21Speaker 61: When I do a power rankings, you know, Peter Wapie
- 2:15:24Speaker 61: and I do our power rankings. We're getting nonstop during
- 2:15:29Speaker 61: these power rankings comments and thoughts from people all over
- 2:15:32Speaker 61: the community regarding who should be where. And now there
- 2:15:35Speaker 61: are some people who have taken to social media and
- 2:15:39Speaker 61: they're doing their own power rankings.
- 2:15:40Speaker 11: Just using AI and stuff. It's an homage to us.
- 2:15:44Speaker 11: It's a huge compliment.
- 2:15:45Speaker 61: People are like, hey, maybe my 50 friends would be
- 2:15:50Speaker 61: interested in my power rankings.
- 2:15:51Speaker 11: And I think it's really cool.
- 2:15:52Speaker 47: Yeah.
- 2:15:53Speaker 20: Well, we've just got a couple minutes left here. So,
- 2:15:56Speaker 20: you know, what's happening in the day in the next
- 2:15:57Speaker 20: few months? What can we look forward to on game day?
- 2:16:00Speaker 20: Or where are you going to be at? That kind
- 2:16:02Speaker 20: of stuff.
- 2:16:02Speaker 61: So game day is heading into its, you know, the
- 2:16:05Speaker 61: remainder is football until we get to the championship games.
- 2:16:08Speaker 61: The championship games this year are going to be very
- 2:16:11Speaker 61: exciting because we're going to be doing them all. We're
- 2:16:12Speaker 61: going to do field hockey, boys soccer, girls soccer, girls volleyball.
- 2:16:17Speaker 11: Swimming, all of it.
- 2:16:19Speaker 61: And we're just putting together our winter schedule, and we're
- 2:16:23Speaker 61: looking at– there's a possibility, a strong possibility, that we're
- 2:16:27Speaker 61: going to be doing our first hockey game this coming winter,
- 2:16:30Speaker 61: which will add another sport to the things that we've done. So, yeah,
- 2:16:34Speaker 61: just putting that all together, game day will be nonstop,
- 2:16:37Speaker 61: going strong. And as far as the day, I think
- 2:16:39Speaker 61: the election– the midterms are a huge– huge.
- 2:16:45Speaker 11: For the day.
- 2:16:45Speaker 61: I mean, that's the kind of thing the– obviously– The
- 2:16:50Speaker 61: debates will be an important thing for the day to host,
- 2:16:52Speaker 61: and I think that will get a lot of attention.
- 2:16:54Speaker 61: And honestly, as I know you are on both a
- 2:17:00Speaker 61: personal level and also on a political level, like.
- 2:17:03Speaker 11: November is going to be, it's going to be a
- 2:17:05Speaker 11: big day.
- 2:17:06Speaker 61: And so, you know, we have, we have skin in
- 2:17:08Speaker 61: the game, both personally and politically.
- 2:17:11Speaker 20: And so we're going to say, they always say, you know, it's, it's,
- 2:17:13Speaker 20: this is the most important election. And I think we might,
- 2:17:15Speaker 20: we might be at that one at the real one.
- 2:17:18Speaker 61: Actually, I would suggest that, that two years from now,
- 2:17:22Speaker 61: it'll be the most, that'll be even more important, but,
- 2:17:25Speaker 61: but yeah, but up until now, and I think that's
- 2:17:27Speaker 61: going to be the case for quite a while. It's
- 2:17:30Speaker 61: this one feels different. And yeah, And I'm really looking
- 2:17:34Speaker 61: forward to it.
- 2:17:35Speaker 3: All right.
- 2:17:36Speaker 20: Again, with Casey O'Neill, thank you so much. We'll be
- 2:17:38Speaker 20: right back. And so we're going to go to a
- 2:17:42Speaker 20: public service announcement from the Eastline Public Service Announcements.
- 2:17:48Speaker 67: Hi, am I on?
- 2:17:53Speaker 20: Hello.
- 2:17:54Speaker 68: Hello.
- 2:17:56Speaker 37: Yes.
- 2:17:56Speaker 20: Who am I speaking with?
- 2:18:00Speaker 3: Am I on air?
- 2:18:01Speaker 20: You're on air, Jan. You're on air.
- 2:18:02Speaker 2: How are you?
- 2:18:03Speaker 20: This is Steve.
- 2:18:04Speaker 34: Okay, I'm fine, thank you.
- 2:18:05Speaker 20: You're a public service announcement, right? Yeah, go ahead.
- 2:18:07Speaker 67: I was concerned about the young woman with the EpiPen.
- 2:18:11Speaker 11: Oh, yes, okay.
- 2:18:11Speaker 68: So I did a quick research, and you can get,
- 2:18:15Speaker 68: if you have insurance.
- 2:18:16Speaker 67: You can get a $ 300 savings on the EpiPen, six
- 2:18:21Speaker 67: cartons a year.
- 2:18:22Speaker 1: Good.
- 2:18:22Speaker 67: If you have absolutely no insurance, you can... get the
- 2:18:27Speaker 67: EpiPen completely for free. And if I were handling this
- 2:18:32Speaker 67: back when I was working in hospitals, I would have
- 2:18:35Speaker 67: gone right to risk management and gotten that straightened out
- 2:18:40Speaker 67: because if you dump a patient, a pregnant woman, without
- 2:18:44Speaker 67: an EpiPen who's just been in there for an emergency,
- 2:18:48Speaker 67: you're going to get sued. And there's also, I mean,
- 2:18:51Speaker 67: the human side of it. And I think that If
- 2:18:56Speaker 67: I can find that on a five-minute search, there was
- 2:18:59Speaker 67: no reason for this woman to be.
- 2:19:01Speaker 68: Wandering around trying to find help. And I would hope
- 2:19:04Speaker 68: our politicians had this information at their fingertips. But there
- 2:19:08Speaker 68: it is. And anybody out.
- 2:19:10Speaker 67: There who needs an EpiPen, I've sent the.
- 2:19:13Speaker 68: Information to Lee. And I'm sure there are changes and
- 2:19:18Speaker 68: cutouts and all.
- 2:19:19Speaker 67: Kinds of things going on.
- 2:19:21Speaker 68: But there's a way to start. and I wish the
- 2:19:25Speaker 68: best for that young woman.
- 2:19:26Speaker 3: All right.
- 2:19:27Speaker 20: I appreciate it. Thank you. We'll be right back.

- 2:26:42Speaker 20: All right, we are back. We are back, and I
- 2:26:45Speaker 20: am here with Lady Mo. Lady Mo, we got a
- 2:26:48Speaker 20: special segment here right now. Yeah, we got a special segment.
- 2:26:52Speaker 20: You know, Lady Mo, you've been on a lot, and
- 2:26:56Speaker 20: we've been talking about, you know, spiritualism, astrology, and Jessica
- 2:27:03Speaker 20: of Goodness Gracious. did an astrology chart on you. Is
- 2:27:06Speaker 20: that right?
- 2:27:07Speaker 51: She did.
- 2:27:07Speaker 20: And she is here with us right now. Can we
- 2:27:09Speaker 20: bring her in right now? Jessica, you there?
- 2:27:11Speaker 68: I'm here.
- 2:27:12Speaker 24: Hi guys.
- 2:27:13Speaker 20: All right, there you go. Um, so I'm going to
- 2:27:16Speaker 20: let you just, and, and everybody out there, just wait
- 2:27:19Speaker 20: till you hear this. Um, so Jessica, just tell us what,
- 2:27:22Speaker 20: what you've done for Lady Mo and how this worked.
- 2:27:25Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 2:27:26Speaker 34: So I ran a natal chart for Lady Mo. Um,
- 2:27:30Speaker 34: I gave her all of her placements, um, where all
- 2:27:33Speaker 34: of her planets were, the exact moment she was born.
- 2:27:36Speaker 34: She sent me all of her personal information, so I
- 2:27:38Speaker 34: ran the chart. And then I ran something I created,
- 2:27:43Speaker 34: which I titled Skyfall Stars as a Soul Memoir. So
- 2:27:48Speaker 34: it takes all of your placements, and it turns it
- 2:27:50Speaker 34: basically into a biography about you. And you're basically reading
- 2:27:54Speaker 34: a book about yourself based off of where the planets
- 2:27:57Speaker 34: were the moment you were born.
- 2:27:59Speaker 59: And from my.
- 2:28:00Speaker 34: Understanding, Lady Mo had quite the response to it. So
- 2:28:03Speaker 34: I'm really excited to talk to her about this.
- 2:28:05Speaker 70: Thank you for doing it. It's hot off the press.
- 2:28:07Speaker 70: Just this week you did it and took the time.
- 2:28:09Speaker 70: It's 30 pages and really thorough.
- 2:28:12Speaker 20: So tell us about it. What did you realize? What
- 2:28:16Speaker 20: jumped out at you reading this?
- 2:28:18Speaker 63: Me or Jess?
- 2:28:20Speaker 20: Well, both of you guys. Go ahead.
- 2:28:22Speaker 70: First, I mean, just the brilliance of it.
- 2:28:25Speaker 63: When you first, the visual of it is striking, right?
- 2:28:28Speaker 70: When you first receive it in the email, you know,
- 2:28:32Speaker 70: you feel connected immediately to the sky full of stars,
- 2:28:36Speaker 70: you know, that you're, we all are of the stars.
- 2:28:41Speaker 70: And you start reading this and it almost looks like
- 2:28:45Speaker 70: this geometric design mapped out in the sky just of you.
- 2:28:52Speaker 70: And then the language that goes along with it.
- 2:28:57Speaker 63: It's very moving.
- 2:28:58Speaker 70: I think it all resonated with me, to be honest with.
- 2:29:02Speaker 3: You, Steve.
- 2:29:03Speaker 63: It was very hard to pick a specific section.
- 2:29:06Speaker 70: Because each one was specific to a season or a
- 2:29:14Speaker 70: stage in my life that I could relate to or
- 2:29:17Speaker 70: that I am in now. You know, maybe, Jess, you
- 2:29:21Speaker 70: could talk about the two things that you sent me.
- 2:29:24Speaker 70: You sent me the astrological chart the mapping of the
- 2:29:28Speaker 70: stars in the sky and the uh planets and the alignment.
- 2:29:35Speaker 63: You want to chat about that first i.
- 2:29:36Speaker 34: Said to the needle wheel so um astrology in and
- 2:29:39Speaker 34: of itself is like a whole nother language um i
- 2:29:42Speaker 34: don't claim to be you know but no i'm still
- 2:29:44Speaker 34: learning honestly if i'm being completely honest um but it's
- 2:29:48Speaker 34: a map it's a you're basically your soul's blueprint so
- 2:29:51Speaker 34: i show it to you in visual form of what
- 2:29:54Speaker 34: it looks like the very moment that you're born And
- 2:29:56Speaker 34: then The Sky Full of Stars is more about the
- 2:29:58Speaker 34: story about it because, again, astrology is a whole other language.
- 2:30:02Speaker 67: It's so deep and.
- 2:30:03Speaker 34: It's so involved. And so I read your memoir before
- 2:30:09Speaker 34: I ever sent it to you. And reading it, I
- 2:30:14Speaker 34: felt like I knew you. And I don't. We just
- 2:30:16Speaker 34: connected based off of the last time I was on air,
- 2:30:19Speaker 34: which was like a month.
- 2:30:20Speaker 67: And a half ago.
- 2:30:21Speaker 34: And then we just recently connected again this week. This
- 2:30:24Speaker 34: was an idea that popped in and thanks to Steve,
- 2:30:26Speaker 34: we kind of connected that way. And when I read it,
- 2:30:30Speaker 34: I saw a lot of, what's fun is that I
- 2:30:32Speaker 34: saw a lot of similarities in you as me. And
- 2:30:36Speaker 34: I tend to gravitate more towards the North node. I
- 2:30:40Speaker 34: am very drawn to the North node because it's the
- 2:30:44Speaker 34: direction that your soul is pulling you towards. And a
- 2:30:46Speaker 34: lot of people resist that because of, societal structures and
- 2:30:51Speaker 34: what we believe we have to do to be successful.
- 2:30:55Speaker 34: And what really jumped out to me was that yours
- 2:30:58Speaker 34: is in the fifth house, which is, you know, pleasure, creativity, self-expression.
- 2:31:04Speaker 34: And yours has Leo in it, which is all about
- 2:31:07Speaker 34: the spotlight. Like, you're supposed to be a natural-born leader.
- 2:31:10Speaker 15: Who, Lady Moe?
- 2:31:11Speaker 20: The spotlight?
- 2:31:12Speaker 3: Come on.
- 2:31:12Speaker 29: Leo the lion?
- 2:31:13Speaker 66: What?
- 2:31:14Speaker 18: Yeah, exactly.
- 2:31:15Speaker 34: You know, you're south node in Aquarius, which is of
- 2:31:19Speaker 34: the collective, right? And so you're kind of supposed to
- 2:31:22Speaker 34: move away from more group-focused or collective ideals, and you're
- 2:31:27Speaker 34: supposed to move towards more authentic, heart-centered self-expression and leadership.
- 2:31:32Speaker 34: So you're supposed to stop hiding in the crowds and
- 2:31:35Speaker 34: blending in, and you're meant to, like, stand out and
- 2:31:38Speaker 34: live from the heart and trust your passions. Stop taking
- 2:31:41Speaker 34: life so seriously. Drop the fear of being foolish. You know,
- 2:31:45Speaker 34: connect with your inner child for self-expression. And you're learning
- 2:31:50Speaker 34: to release over-reliance on groups or friends and releasing maybe
- 2:31:55Speaker 34: more of a detached or an impersonal demeanor and releasing
- 2:32:00Speaker 34: the fear of standing out. One thing that really stood
- 2:32:04Speaker 34: out to me was that you do, kind of like
- 2:32:06Speaker 34: I do, it's like you're trying to find You have
- 2:32:09Speaker 34: to trust that your passions, your creativity, being your authentic
- 2:32:15Speaker 34: self is value enough and putting yourself out there isn't
- 2:32:18Speaker 34: egotistical or selfish in any way whatsoever. And so I
- 2:32:22Speaker 34: found it very interesting when we connected on Facebook that
- 2:32:25Speaker 34: you're kind of gravitating more towards you know, creating your
- 2:32:28Speaker 34: own podcast and putting your voice out there. And I'm
- 2:32:32Speaker 34: just like, that's right in line.
- 2:32:33Speaker 63: Can you believe it? I'm like in it.
- 2:32:35Speaker 34: You're kind of meant to do is put yourself out there.
- 2:32:37Speaker 36: I know.
- 2:32:38Speaker 63: It's so cool. It's happening.
- 2:32:40Speaker 70: Like what I was reading on the page is literally
- 2:32:43Speaker 70: happening in my life and thrill 3d right now on earth.
- 2:32:46Speaker 2: It's crazy.
- 2:32:47Speaker 24: It's amazing.
- 2:32:48Speaker 1: Right.
- 2:32:48Speaker 34: And so that's why I'm so passionate about astrology is
- 2:32:50Speaker 34: because we're so blissfully unaware of what's taking place in
- 2:32:54Speaker 34: the sky above us and not realizing that what's playing
- 2:32:57Speaker 34: out in our lives has the direct result of the
- 2:33:00Speaker 34: sky above us and correlation to the very moment that
- 2:33:04Speaker 34: we were born.
- 2:33:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:33:06Speaker 70: I think there's something to be said about reclaiming your
- 2:33:10Speaker 70: moral sense. You're, you know, not conforming to the structures
- 2:33:14Speaker 70: around you, being able to ever evolve and adapt and
- 2:33:19Speaker 70: acclimate to any situation. And, um, and like that reading,
- 2:33:24Speaker 70: it just confirmed for me. I always felt that I
- 2:33:26Speaker 70: was able to do that, but, uh, you know, reading
- 2:33:30Speaker 70: it really solidified it for me.
- 2:33:33Speaker 20: So Jess, really quick, who, who is this for? I mean,
- 2:33:37Speaker 20: is this for, is this for everyone to, to, to,
- 2:33:40Speaker 20: to learn from? Is it, uh, you know, when, when
- 2:33:43Speaker 20: is the best time to do this for someone?
- 2:33:46Speaker 34: Really at any time. And like I said, it's constantly evolving, right? So, um,
- 2:33:51Speaker 34: Your chart is based off of– it's all energy. To
- 2:33:53Speaker 34: go back to a segment that you guys had talked
- 2:33:55Speaker 34: about a couple weeks ago, which I love, is everything
- 2:33:58Speaker 34: is energy, right? The planets hold certain energies, the stars,
- 2:34:02Speaker 34: the constellation, everything. So it's really for anybody. And I'd
- 2:34:05Speaker 34: really like to use this quote.
- 2:34:07Speaker 17: J.P.
- 2:34:08Speaker 34: Morgan once said, millionaires don't use astrology. Billionaires do. And
- 2:34:15Speaker 34: if you do the research, you find that a lot
- 2:34:17Speaker 34: of very– well-off people have hired astrologers to help lead
- 2:34:23Speaker 34: the way in their business. So it's not just personal.
- 2:34:25Speaker 34: You can use this in finance and business. There's astrologers
- 2:34:29Speaker 34: that recharge specifically or the energy of what we're currently
- 2:34:34Speaker 34: in and correlate it to the financial markets and have
- 2:34:37Speaker 34: made a boatload of money doing that.
- 2:34:39Speaker 40: Wow.
- 2:34:40Speaker 20: I agree with that.
- 2:34:41Speaker 34: I mean, it's really for anybody.
- 2:34:42Speaker 70: Yeah, it can be this knowledge that you receive.
- 2:34:48Speaker 70: Pulls you inward and is a mirror so that you
- 2:34:53Speaker 70: can directly reflect and apply that into every facet of
- 2:34:59Speaker 70: your life and in the world. And honestly, I think
- 2:35:01Speaker 70: it's truly beneficial for everybody, no matter what your background is.
- 2:35:06Speaker 55: Yeah, really.
- 2:35:07Speaker 70: I mean, it's really something that I it would really
- 2:35:09Speaker 70: be nice to know just when we're born.
- 2:35:12Speaker 55: Yeah.
- 2:35:12Speaker 20: I mean, you know, is this is this something that
- 2:35:14Speaker 20: changes over time? So, for instance, if you're if you're
- 2:35:17Speaker 20: a parent.
- 2:35:18Speaker 3: All right.
- 2:35:18Speaker 20: And you have a, you know, a middle school child
- 2:35:21Speaker 20: and you want to have this done and you have
- 2:35:23Speaker 20: it done and then maybe you have it done again.
- 2:35:27Speaker 20: I mean, does it change in 10 years?
- 2:35:29Speaker 34: Yeah, so it's all energy, right? And we all have
- 2:35:32Speaker 34: free will, so we can choose what we do with
- 2:35:35Speaker 34: that information, right? So for example, like my chart shows
- 2:35:37Speaker 34: that I'd be really successful in real estate and finance,
- 2:35:42Speaker 34: but astrology is also very strong. So it's really up
- 2:35:45Speaker 34: to you which path you choose. There's no right or
- 2:35:47Speaker 34: wrong answer. You learn to find the energies that coincide
- 2:35:51Speaker 34: with yourself and work with those instead of against them.
- 2:35:53Speaker 34: So you asked me a couple years ago if You know,
- 2:35:57Speaker 34: I would be doing this as a passion, and I
- 2:36:00Speaker 34: would say no. But then the response has been really well,
- 2:36:03Speaker 34: and I can see myself doing this for the rest
- 2:36:05Speaker 34: of my life. But, you know, the old me went
- 2:36:08Speaker 34: to school, got my degrees and everything. And not that
- 2:36:11Speaker 34: that's wrong, but this lights me up more, and I'm
- 2:36:14Speaker 34: finding that I'm having better success with this than I
- 2:36:16Speaker 34: did busting my butt at a job that I wasn't.
- 2:36:18Speaker 20: And you do this for individual folks, but also at organizations.
- 2:36:23Speaker 20: gatherings at functions where you can sit and kind of
- 2:36:26Speaker 20: teach people about astrology and then they come up to
- 2:36:28Speaker 20: you and get get this done right you you do
- 2:36:31Speaker 20: for parties for people it it can be used you
- 2:36:34Speaker 20: know in any event that you can kind of create right.
- 2:36:37Speaker 34: Oh yeah absolutely i have one this weekend i'm in
- 2:36:40Speaker 34: florida right now and i have an event in daytona
- 2:36:43Speaker 34: this weekend where i'll be sitting with a few women
- 2:36:46Speaker 34: or men. It's for men. It's for everybody, really. But,
- 2:36:49Speaker 34: you know, just kind of, I'm not going to go
- 2:36:51Speaker 34: over their personal charts in front of everybody, but I
- 2:36:54Speaker 34: will have a copy of that for them so that
- 2:36:56Speaker 34: they can go home and read it. And then what
- 2:36:58Speaker 34: my thing is, is I'm going to teach people what
- 2:37:01Speaker 34: each house represents, right? So in Lady Mo's case, like,
- 2:37:05Speaker 34: your first house has a tazini, which is multiple planets,
- 2:37:08Speaker 34: three or more planets in one area. And that amplifies
- 2:37:12Speaker 34: the energy, right? And so like the first house is
- 2:37:14Speaker 34: of the self. And so I kind of start explaining
- 2:37:18Speaker 34: that to people so they have a little bit more
- 2:37:19Speaker 34: understanding before they go home with this information. But that's
- 2:37:23Speaker 34: why I love the sky full of stars because it's
- 2:37:25Speaker 34: written in such a way where it's just you're reading
- 2:37:27Speaker 34: about yourself instead of trying to figure out what energies
- 2:37:30Speaker 34: mean and what these houses mean. I'll do a teaching
- 2:37:33Speaker 34: about that, but the bulk of it is my goal
- 2:37:36Speaker 34: at the end of the day is to help people
- 2:37:38Speaker 34: come back into alignment with themselves so that they can
- 2:37:42Speaker 34: be their best selves. It facilitates a lot of healing,
- 2:37:48Speaker 34: maybe from childhood. wounds or trauma or even adult, you know,
- 2:37:52Speaker 34: kind of helps make you make sense of things that
- 2:37:55Speaker 34: have taken place in your life along the way.
- 2:38:00Speaker 70: I mean, do you want to talk about some of
- 2:38:02Speaker 70: the particular sections or some of the little blurbs that
- 2:38:05Speaker 70: I sent you that I highlighted last night?
- 2:38:08Speaker 34: I mean, you sent me an email last night about
- 2:38:09Speaker 34: a few of the passages that like really stood out
- 2:38:12Speaker 34: to you. And so whatever you're comfortable with, because I'm Again,
- 2:38:15Speaker 34: this gets down to the soul level. So whatever it
- 2:38:18Speaker 34: is that you're comfortable sharing, I would love your.
- 2:38:21Speaker 31: Review on it all.
- 2:38:22Speaker 64: Yeah.
- 2:38:22Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 2:38:23Speaker 63: It was just gorgeous.
- 2:38:24Speaker 70: I have to open it on my email.
- 2:38:30Speaker 34: I have your email back. And one of the things
- 2:38:32Speaker 34: that really jumped out at me last night because it
- 2:38:35Speaker 34: resonated so deeply with myself, too, and it showed this
- 2:38:38Speaker 34: in my chart as well, is that your belief, your spirituality,
- 2:38:42Speaker 34: your philosophy, travel, and culture– symbolism, study, or contact with
- 2:38:47Speaker 34: reality larger than the immediate environment is what feeds your
- 2:38:51Speaker 34: emotional life.
- 2:38:52Speaker 67: Would you say that's true?
- 2:38:54Speaker 2: Wholeheartedly.
- 2:38:55Speaker 37: Yeah.
- 2:38:55Speaker 63: Like deep in my soul.
- 2:38:56Speaker 5: And I got that.
- 2:38:57Speaker 34: Energy, or I got that feeling when I was listening
- 2:38:59Speaker 34: to you and Steve talk about energy work, you know,
- 2:39:02Speaker 34: how you're just, I felt like you were meant to
- 2:39:06Speaker 34: travel more down that path. And then another thing that
- 2:39:09Speaker 34: jumped out at me was that, and I do this too,
- 2:39:12Speaker 34: is that you tend to make things make sense in
- 2:39:16Speaker 34: a spiritual sense in the 3D reality.
- 2:39:19Speaker 59: So, like, X, Y, Z.
- 2:39:20Speaker 34: Happened because of this, this, and that. And for me,
- 2:39:23Speaker 34: when I do that, it makes me feel a little
- 2:39:25Speaker 34: bit better, and I saw that it's pretty prominent in
- 2:39:28Speaker 34: your chart as well.
- 2:39:29Speaker 70: Yeah, there's always a why for something. I like to
- 2:39:31Speaker 70: look deeper at a why. something is happening the way
- 2:39:35Speaker 70: it's happening. There's a lot of different reasons why and
- 2:39:39Speaker 70: different layers to why your life is unfolding the way
- 2:39:44Speaker 70: it is. And we all could take some ownership on that.
- 2:39:48Speaker 70: But sometimes it takes a little clarity in front of
- 2:39:51Speaker 70: you to have that. You know, I particularly liked, she
- 2:39:54Speaker 70: did not come here to merely survive. She came to
- 2:39:58Speaker 70: determine what makes life worth inhabiting.
- 2:40:01Speaker 3: Wow.
- 2:40:02Speaker 62: Yeah.
- 2:40:03Speaker 34: That's really strong.
- 2:40:04Speaker 68: That's really powerful.
- 2:40:05Speaker 63: And the Venus, yeah, sorry, go ahead.
- 2:40:07Speaker 34: Given what it is that you're trying to build now,
- 2:40:09Speaker 34: you know, and that's exactly what you're doing.
- 2:40:11Speaker 25: It is.
- 2:40:11Speaker 70: The language was like matched my branding. It like exactly,
- 2:40:17Speaker 70: which I do feel that these were messages in some way.
- 2:40:21Speaker 70: I don't know whether you call them downloads or remembering
- 2:40:25Speaker 70: or an awakening of an ancient knowledge that was once within,
- 2:40:30Speaker 70: but the timing seems.
- 2:40:31Speaker 63: Exactly right now.
- 2:40:32Speaker 70: That this podcast, uh, radio thing is, is falling into
- 2:40:37Speaker 70: place for me at this moment. And I'm embodying it, um,
- 2:40:43Speaker 70: in real time for like in 3d.
- 2:40:44Speaker 63: It's crazy. It's wild.
- 2:40:47Speaker 34: I call them downloads, but yes, no, I'm finding that
- 2:40:50Speaker 34: a lot of my chart is lining up with the
- 2:40:52Speaker 34: time that we're in now, you know, to touch back
- 2:40:54Speaker 34: on that North node, uh, thing where the direction your
- 2:40:57Speaker 34: soul is being called towards, Mine is in my ninth house,
- 2:41:01Speaker 34: which is of travel and philosophy and higher learning and wisdom,
- 2:41:06Speaker 34: excuse me, esoteric knowledge, spirituality as a whole. And that's
- 2:41:11Speaker 34: exactly the direction I feel pulled toward, you know, like,
- 2:41:16Speaker 34: of course, life gets in the way and you got
- 2:41:18Speaker 34: to work your regular nine to five job, which is
- 2:41:20Speaker 34: what I'm going to be doing when we get off
- 2:41:21Speaker 34: this year, which I love, don't get me wrong, but
- 2:41:24Speaker 34: is it what fills me?
- 2:41:25Speaker 21: No.
- 2:41:26Speaker 34: And that's because that's not giving me the spirituality, creative
- 2:41:30Speaker 34: outlet that my soul is calling me toward. So that's
- 2:41:34Speaker 34: what the charts really help you to see is like,
- 2:41:36Speaker 34: there's no right or wrong answer of the way that
- 2:41:38Speaker 34: you're doing life. It just helps open up doors in
- 2:41:41Speaker 34: so many different ways.
- 2:41:43Speaker 3: It does.
- 2:41:44Speaker 36: It does.
- 2:41:44Speaker 70: There's a, There's something special when you realize, you know,
- 2:41:51Speaker 70: the healing really sort of is not learning to become valuable.
- 2:41:56Speaker 70: It's just recognizing that your value existed before the proof.
- 2:41:59Speaker 63: So like this says it all. It says it all.
- 2:42:03Speaker 39: Thank you.
- 2:42:03Speaker 63: I'm super grateful for it, Jess, really.
- 2:42:06Speaker 20: So, Jessica, where can everybody out there, you know, I mean,
- 2:42:10Speaker 20: you know, Lady Mo has received this and she's blown away.
- 2:42:14Speaker 20: Everybody that gets it is blown away at the accuracy
- 2:42:18Speaker 20: and detail that comes with this. So where can someone
- 2:42:21Speaker 20: get this if they want to? If you're listening here
- 2:42:24Speaker 20: in southeastern Connecticut, Long Island, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and you're
- 2:42:28Speaker 20: interested in learning about your soul and guidance, how do
- 2:42:31Speaker 20: they get that?
- 2:42:33Speaker 34: I have a website, and it is called goodnessgracious.shop. Right
- 2:42:39Speaker 34: on that home page, you should see the Skyfall Stars memoir.
- 2:42:43Speaker 34: You can go ahead there and order it, and then
- 2:42:47Speaker 34: I will be in contact with you. Again, I'm a
- 2:42:50Speaker 34: big believer in this gets down on a soul level.
- 2:42:53Speaker 34: I protect everybody's personal information.
- 2:42:56Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 2:42:57Speaker 68: Greatly.
- 2:42:58Speaker 34: So I will be in contact with you within 24
- 2:43:00Speaker 34: hours of the purchase to get those personal details. And
- 2:43:03Speaker 34: what I will need is your name, obviously, your date
- 2:43:07Speaker 34: of birth, the time that you were born, because the
- 2:43:11Speaker 34: time is what makes it incredibly accurate. And so anybody
- 2:43:15Speaker 34: with a birth certificate, just look at your birth certificate
- 2:43:18Speaker 34: and that's the time that I'll need. and then the
- 2:43:21Speaker 34: location because it also depends on where in the world
- 2:43:23Speaker 34: you were born, where exactly the stars and exactly where
- 2:43:26Speaker 34: the planets were the moment you were born. But, yeah,
- 2:43:29Speaker 34: my website is goodnessgracious.shop, and you can go ahead and
- 2:43:33Speaker 34: order one on there.
- 2:43:35Speaker 20: Goodness gracious. Shop. All right. Anything else you want to quickly?
- 2:43:38Speaker 20: We have about a minute or so left. You know,
- 2:43:42Speaker 20: Lady Mo, anything else?
- 2:43:43Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 2:43:43Speaker 70: Well, you opened you opened with our deep connection on belief, spirituality, philosophy, travel, culture,
- 2:43:51Speaker 70: symbolism and study.
- 2:43:54Speaker 63: You know, what are you studying right now?
- 2:43:58Speaker 34: What am I studying right now? I'm honestly still studying
- 2:44:01Speaker 34: myself to learn myself on a better level. I found
- 2:44:04Speaker 34: myself not, you know, I've been through, the last three
- 2:44:08Speaker 34: years have been really rough for me and I felt
- 2:44:10Speaker 34: stagnant and I keep referring back to my chart to do,
- 2:44:14Speaker 34: to find like the repeating patterns that, you know, where I'm,
- 2:44:18Speaker 34: where I'm heading. So I've been more, and it's going
- 2:44:20Speaker 34: to sound really egotistical and I don't mean it to
- 2:44:22Speaker 34: come out that way, but I am so wildly, I
- 2:44:25Speaker 34: love self-awareness and I love, growing and i love you
- 2:44:29Speaker 34: know being the best version of me so lately it's
- 2:44:31Speaker 34: been more of that to be honest with you but
- 2:44:34Speaker 34: i i am uh i have signed up for a
- 2:44:35Speaker 34: shaman course i want to learn more about plant medicines
- 2:44:39Speaker 34: and energies anything that is people call woo woo no but.
- 2:44:45Speaker 63: It can be value it can be of value to
- 2:44:47Speaker 63: the rest of the.
- 2:44:48Speaker 34: World astrology and um just learning to be the best
- 2:44:51Speaker 34: version of me i'm looking to connect with people on
- 2:44:54Speaker 34: a full level that's why i'm doing this um And
- 2:44:58Speaker 34: ultimately what I'd like to do is turn, make it
- 2:45:02Speaker 34: be basically like therapy meets the stars, work one-on-one with
- 2:45:05Speaker 34: people so that I can help them, what I like
- 2:45:08Speaker 34: to call level up in their life instead of, you know,
- 2:45:11Speaker 34: we can be our own worst critics, right? We can
- 2:45:13Speaker 34: beat ourselves up internally. And I'm looking to end that
- 2:45:17Speaker 34: with people using the stars as a tool.
- 2:45:19Speaker 20: All right, Jessica, one more time. Where can people get
- 2:45:21Speaker 20: this service?
- 2:45:23Speaker 34: Goodnessgracious.shop is my website. And like I said, I'll be
- 2:45:28Speaker 34: in contact with you within 24 hours or less of
- 2:45:30Speaker 34: the order. And I look forward to working with anybody
- 2:45:33Speaker 34: who feels compelled to get one of these. I don't
- 2:45:36Speaker 34: think you'll be disappointed at all.
- 2:45:37Speaker 1: All right.
- 2:45:38Speaker 20: Lady Mo, Jessica, goodness gracious. Thank you so much. Look, hey,
- 2:45:41Speaker 20: Steve Elsie here. It was great being on today. Look, Monday,
- 2:45:45Speaker 20: we have a great, great show. Tom Cantone is coming
- 2:45:48Speaker 20: on this Monday and he has a set of Big guests. Huge. Yeah, huge.
- 2:45:56Speaker 1: Huge.
- 2:45:56Speaker 3: Right, there you go.
- 2:45:58Speaker 20: There you have it. So, hey, Steve Elsie, have a great,
- 2:46:02Speaker 20: great weekend. See you soon.
