- 0:04Speaker 1: It is good to see my friend Andrew Hawkins. It's
- 0:06Speaker 1: also good to see him all over ESPN all over.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Get up. I am proud of you, man. And look
- 0:10Speaker 2: at that beautiful set that you're working from it.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Oh man, you're getting a lot of run on ESPN. Man,
- 0:15Speaker 1: it's cool to see.
- 0:17Speaker 3: I appreciate it. Man, just trying to, you know, earn
- 0:19Speaker 3: my keep a little bit. It's good to see us, dud.
- 0:21Speaker 3: It's been way too long, brother.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Yes, what are you proud of? Stuff? On that set
- 0:25Speaker 2: behind you? That beautiful set. That's a right back there.
- 0:31Speaker 2: What are you proud of?
- 0:32Speaker 4: Stuff? A man, that's a loaded one.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Most of my trophies come from after my playing career,
- 0:38Speaker 3: so that's one thing I'm proud of number one. Right,
- 0:41Speaker 3: But I would probably say, I'm gonna go here, I'm
- 0:46Speaker 3: gonna go here. This is my great Cup. Oh wow,
- 0:51Speaker 3: two thousand and ten, right, great cup. Yeah, that's what
- 0:56Speaker 3: That's what I'm most proud of, right there.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Okay, is that a mini version or is it like
- 1:00Speaker 1: the real version of any version that the real versions
- 1:02Speaker 1: are like, you know, they're huge, but the green you
- 1:07Speaker 1: want to champion?
- 1:09Speaker 2: Yeah, there you go.
- 1:10Speaker 3: I'm a champion That's the thing that people don't understand
- 1:12Speaker 3: because I'm a Brown and it's so synonymous with losing.
- 1:16Speaker 3: They don't know that I'm a two time damn champions,
- 1:18Speaker 3: do guy. So that's why those are important to me.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Yes, I love it. Mikey A is laughing. Mikey A
- 1:25Speaker 2: is h He's so dedicated.
- 1:27Speaker 1: To the craft that he couldn't do this from home
- 1:30Speaker 1: and he went to a car dealership to do Wi
- 1:33Speaker 1: Fi and coffee.
- 1:35Speaker 4: Hey, there you go. I hope you ask permission. I
- 1:39Speaker 4: hope you didn't just go in there and just spring
- 1:41Speaker 4: up upon have enough of my money.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Okay, he owns the joint.
- 1:48Speaker 4: Hawk.
- 1:48Speaker 2: I'm wondering for you. We asked Rrell Davis this.
- 1:52Speaker 1: He said that he loved training camp for about three
- 1:55Speaker 1: or four days and then he got sick of it.
- 1:57Speaker 4: He was tired of it.
- 1:58Speaker 1: I asked my goal look about it. He said, it
- 2:00Speaker 1: didn't take them three or four days. He was throwing
- 2:02Speaker 1: up on the drive to training camp. How did Hawk
- 2:06Speaker 1: experience training camp? Was it something you look forward to?
- 2:09Speaker 4: Honest to God?
- 2:10Speaker 3: Response to this, Okay, every June, every July, like mid July,
- 2:16Speaker 3: is the worst time of year for me. I have
- 2:18Speaker 3: like seasonal depression, and I am almost a thousand percent sure.
- 2:22Speaker 3: A large part of that is due to twenty years
- 2:26Speaker 3: of knowing the football season is coming and I got
- 2:29Speaker 3: to go to training camp. That's how much I hate
- 2:32Speaker 3: training camp. Guys that here I am ten years later,
- 2:35Speaker 3: and I can feel it in my bones. It's like
- 2:37Speaker 3: a part of me that wants to get active. Like
- 2:39Speaker 3: even when I don't work out at all, all of
- 2:41Speaker 3: a sudden, I'll get this joder of energy when my
- 2:43Speaker 3: body tells me like, hey, you better get in shape,
- 2:46Speaker 3: and so I'll start working out, not realizing that I'm
- 2:48Speaker 3: thinking I'm motivated, like oh man, this is like you know,
- 2:52Speaker 3: I'm about to get back into shape. No, it's just
- 2:54Speaker 3: my body that is in a rhythm of sure being
- 2:57Speaker 3: depressed that I got to go to training camp, but
- 2:59Speaker 3: then also knowing it's time to get in shape. Like
- 3:02Speaker 3: those two things happen every single July.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Go ahead, Mikey, Yeah.
- 3:09Speaker 5: The worst part. What's the worst part of trading? Is
- 3:11Speaker 5: it just the is it just the physical activity or
- 3:15Speaker 5: is it just like, oh man, I got to live
- 3:16Speaker 5: in like a dorm and like get back to like
- 3:20Speaker 5: a routine that I don't want to be in.
- 3:22Speaker 3: The physical activity is easy. I mean because you do
- 3:25Speaker 3: it your whole life. It's a lot like they purposely
- 3:27Speaker 3: make it like they make it mentally tough. And obviously
- 3:31Speaker 3: it's changed over the years, but still it's like for
- 3:34Speaker 3: everything that they've lost in you know, two days, they've
- 3:38Speaker 3: just filled it with some other version of like ways
- 3:40Speaker 3: to make it mentally hard on you. You know, I've
- 3:42Speaker 3: got a son who's fourteen years old, good football player.
- 3:44Speaker 3: He's in his first like high school training camp, and
- 3:46Speaker 3: this is like their quote unquote hell week.
- 3:49Speaker 4: And I think it's easy, so I've been doing it.
- 3:51Speaker 3: I've been doing extra to make it even worse on him,
- 3:53Speaker 3: because I'm like, hey, you got to experience this mentally
- 3:56Speaker 3: taxing week or two weeks to get yourself ready. And
- 4:00Speaker 3: that's the worst part. You're away from your family. It
- 4:02Speaker 3: is like anything, even if you love it in excess,
- 4:08Speaker 3: is too much. And that's what football is is You're
- 4:10Speaker 3: up at six am and you don't stop until nine,
- 4:12Speaker 3: you go to bed. You have no time for anything else,
- 4:14Speaker 3: you have no time to think about anything else. You're
- 4:16Speaker 3: away from your family, You're with a bunch of smelly dudes.
- 4:19Speaker 3: You know it gets monotonous.
- 4:20Speaker 4: At the time.
- 4:21Speaker 3: You're getting yelled at the majority of the time, you're
- 4:23Speaker 3: being told how wrong you are. You're being told how
- 4:25Speaker 3: bad you're gonna suck if you don't change your ways.
- 4:27Speaker 3: You're being told how you're not in shaping up. And
- 4:29Speaker 3: this isn't a championship team. And that's from sixth grade
- 4:33Speaker 3: all the way up until you know, a twelve year vet.
- 4:36Speaker 3: Every training camp, no team's in good enough ship. It's
- 4:39Speaker 3: never been a coach in training camp that has ever said, like, man,
- 4:42Speaker 3: you guys look great, you are in awesome shape, and
- 4:45Speaker 3: we don't got to do extra. You've put so much
- 4:47Speaker 3: work in the off season that nobody ever says that,
- 4:50Speaker 3: no matter what level you are.
- 4:51Speaker 4: And so it's the same kind of shitty no matter what.
- 4:55Speaker 3: And that's the part that's the worst about training camp
- 4:57Speaker 3: is you know that they're going to treat you like
- 5:00Speaker 3: shit and like you've done nothing in your entire life
- 5:02Speaker 3: and they're gonna have to whip you into shape.
- 5:04Speaker 5: All right, you said, a bunch of smelly dudes. I
- 5:06Speaker 5: gotta know who's the smelliest.
- 5:09Speaker 3: I mean, you know, you don't go around like putting
- 5:13Speaker 3: a ranking to a Mikey, It's not like, you know, like, oh,
- 5:15Speaker 3: let me make a note that guy seems a little
- 5:17Speaker 3: bit more than this guy.
- 5:19Speaker 2: No, they just don't stink.
- 5:21Speaker 4: It's just an accumulation.
- 5:22Speaker 3: It's a smell, you know, Like I walk into locker
- 5:24Speaker 3: rooms now every once in a while and I get
- 5:27Speaker 3: this like weird flashback of like, oh, I haven't smelled
- 5:29Speaker 3: this in a long time. I forgot what this like
- 5:32Speaker 3: with stinky, sweaty shoulder pads and socks and you know,
- 5:36Speaker 3: half the team not taking showers after practice. Like it
- 5:39Speaker 3: just is a stench that is this accumulation of everybody's
- 5:44Speaker 3: you know, individual odors.
- 5:45Speaker 4: Mikey.
- 5:46Speaker 2: H plus, you're doing this in the dead of summer.
- 5:48Speaker 4: I mean, and it's the summertime. Bro, it's like ninety
- 5:52Speaker 4: five degrees.
- 5:53Speaker 1: It is terrible. Yes, yeah, it's there. Okay, So Terrell
- 5:57Speaker 1: Davis you're calling BS. I feel like a Terrell Davis, Yeah,
- 6:00Speaker 1: coming for you.
- 6:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:01Speaker 3: I think that's a that's a three or four days
- 6:03Speaker 3: enjoying of training camp.
- 6:04Speaker 4: Now, I don't I don't see it.
- 6:06Speaker 1: What do you make of what's going on here with
- 6:08Speaker 1: Baker Mayfield who let his feelings be known because he's
- 6:12Speaker 1: Baker Mayfield. The Bucks did not give him the contract.
- 6:15Speaker 1: He put a deadline on it, so he's gonna bet
- 6:18Speaker 1: on himself. I don't think anyone loves betting on themselves
- 6:20Speaker 1: more than Baker Mayfield. He loves putting a chip on
- 6:23Speaker 1: his shoulder. Do you think Baker deserves the contract that
- 6:25Speaker 1: he wanted?
- 6:26Speaker 3: Let me throw them back to you, because everyone loves
- 6:29Speaker 3: Baker for gambling on himself. Nobody's asking the real questions.
- 6:32Speaker 3: Does Baker have a gambling addiction?
- 6:35Speaker 4: That's a question.
- 6:36Speaker 3: And is it any different because you gamble on yourself?
- 6:38Speaker 3: Does that make it any less of a gambling addiction?
- 6:42Speaker 3: He does seem addicted to gambling, but he does. It's
- 6:45Speaker 3: like he'll do it every time. He's walked away from
- 6:47Speaker 3: good deals. Yes, sound financial decisions. You can see all
- 6:51Speaker 3: you went about Cleveland. They offered him a good contract.
- 6:54Speaker 3: If my memory serves me right, that was like much
- 6:57Speaker 3: more money than he earned over the next two or
- 6:59Speaker 3: three years. So at what point are we going to
- 7:01Speaker 3: look Baker in the eye and say, hey, man, you
- 7:03Speaker 3: should call what eight hundred problem? Because you need to
- 7:09Speaker 3: just sometimes just take take what's in front of you.
- 7:12Speaker 2: I think it's gambling problem one eight hundred admitute.
- 7:14Speaker 4: Right, yeah, something you know. And I think that's what
- 7:18Speaker 4: you talk about when you talk about Baker. That's like,
- 7:20Speaker 4: what is the overarching theme?
- 7:22Speaker 3: Like I wish I would say, I'm up, I'm surprised
- 7:24Speaker 3: by what's That's just what Baker does. Again, I've watched
- 7:27Speaker 3: Baker since day one of him being in Cleveland. And
- 7:31Speaker 3: the thing about giving a team a deadline. You can
- 7:35Speaker 3: always coach Baker up and say hey, I think you
- 7:36Speaker 3: should handle it this way or that way, right, Like,
- 7:38Speaker 3: I think they want him there. I know he wants
- 7:41Speaker 3: to be there. He's obviously made that well known. I
- 7:44Speaker 3: think he's played great. I think the reality is they
- 7:48Speaker 3: have a deadline. They didn't reach the deadline.
- 7:51Speaker 5: You know.
- 7:52Speaker 3: Not my style with Baker, I would have told him,
- 7:54Speaker 3: all right, they didn't reach a deadline. You were gambling.
- 7:57Speaker 3: You're gambling on yourself. Go play, don't say anything about it.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Say my agents are talking about it. That's you know,
- 8:02Speaker 3: I'm focused on football. But then the press conference, in
- 8:05Speaker 3: the comments, it doesn't seem like you're focusing on football.
- 8:07Speaker 3: It seems like you're rehashing what's going on. Then not
- 8:10Speaker 3: meeting the deadline, how you feel valuable and yes, they
- 8:12Speaker 3: asked you a question, but you don't have to answer it,
- 8:14Speaker 3: you know. And that's again, it's one thing to say, hey,
- 8:17Speaker 3: I'm going to give it to this date, then I
- 8:19Speaker 3: want to focus on ball. It's another thing to get
- 8:21Speaker 3: to that date and then become a distraction. Like if
- 8:25Speaker 3: you don't sign me by this date, I'm going to
- 8:26Speaker 3: make sure it's a distraction. And that's a little bit
- 8:29Speaker 3: what it feels like with Baker. He deserves his contract.
- 8:32Speaker 3: I think his contract will come, but I just think.
- 8:35Speaker 4: That it's.
- 8:38Speaker 3: You know, it's you're putting obstacles in front of your
- 8:41Speaker 3: team and distractions in front of your team, because now
- 8:43Speaker 3: this is going to be the topic instead of you know,
- 8:46Speaker 3: how the Bucks replaced Mike Evans and what will he
- 8:49Speaker 3: look like without Mike Evans and Tampa because we haven't
- 8:51Speaker 3: seen a quarterback without Mike Evans there and you know,
- 8:54Speaker 3: a decade and a half.
- 8:55Speaker 1: So if you're a teammate of his, you're annoyed not
- 8:57Speaker 1: that he not that he didn't sign the contract, that
- 8:59Speaker 1: he's talking about it and making it a distraction headed
- 9:01Speaker 1: into the season, right.
- 9:03Speaker 3: But I don't think you're annoyed if you're a teammate,
- 9:05Speaker 3: because you know you're you're taught to not worry about
- 9:07Speaker 3: other people's money right in their contract situations.
- 9:10Speaker 4: You let them handle it how they handle it.
- 9:12Speaker 3: But I just think for him, every piece of his
- 9:14Speaker 3: brain that is away from playing, every question he has
- 9:18Speaker 3: to answer away from playing, is just more brain space
- 9:22Speaker 3: that he's not thinking about how to be covered, to
- 9:24Speaker 3: what his red zone answers are. Without Mike Evans, he's
- 9:27Speaker 3: going to create, you know, one on one matchups for
- 9:30Speaker 3: a Mecca Abuka with no solidified number two receivers, no
- 9:33Speaker 3: like things like that. I think it just better serve
- 9:35Speaker 3: for his his energy in his career. He's going to
- 9:37Speaker 3: get his money.
- 9:38Speaker 4: He's played his way there, some of the chip he
- 9:41Speaker 4: has to get rid of.
- 9:42Speaker 3: I had somebody tell me a piece of advice right
- 9:45Speaker 3: before I made my jump into professional football, and he said,
- 9:48Speaker 3: you know, you play with such a chip on your
- 9:49Speaker 3: shoulder and it's draining you. You be better off just
- 9:53Speaker 3: worrying about the people who do believe you than to
- 9:56Speaker 3: constantly trying to prove the people who don't wrong. And
- 9:59Speaker 3: I think that's where Baker is in his career. Nobody
- 10:01Speaker 3: says Baker's not a franchise quarterback. Nobody says he's not
- 10:04Speaker 3: worth the money. Nobody says he is not the guy
- 10:07Speaker 3: that we pegged him to be when he came into
- 10:08Speaker 3: the league at this point in his career, and it
- 10:11Speaker 3: does feel a little, uh, you know, counter productive to
- 10:18Speaker 3: still be creating problems or conversation in that tone of voice,
- 10:23Speaker 3: still doubting whether whether or.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Not everyone believes in him as a number one quarterback.
- 10:28Speaker 2: And I think they gave him three years, one hundred million.
- 10:30Speaker 1: But I think Tampa Bay is saying, hey, you're thirty
- 10:32Speaker 1: one years old, You're coming off the worst season you've
- 10:34Speaker 1: had with us of the three years you've been with us,
- 10:37Speaker 1: and you're thirty one years old, and we gave you
- 10:40Speaker 1: three years, one hundred million dollars. So it's a very
- 10:43Speaker 1: tricky decision. I could see it from both sides. I
- 10:45Speaker 1: really can't off.
- 10:46Speaker 4: Yeah, and I agree.
- 10:47Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 10:48Speaker 3: I don't know if there's a team that pays Baker
- 10:50Speaker 3: may feel more than a Buccaneers will, right, you know,
- 10:53Speaker 3: he can he was a godsend when he came into
- 10:55Speaker 3: the Buccaneers.
- 10:55Speaker 4: I think he knows that they know that. But to
- 10:57Speaker 4: your point.
- 10:58Speaker 3: I'm always like, yeah, I was also disrespected by teams
- 11:02Speaker 3: in these contract situations or what happened. But the thing
- 11:05Speaker 3: about it is I didn't. I was never the kind
- 11:07Speaker 3: of person to verbalize it's like, Okay, that's how you feel,
- 11:10Speaker 3: this is how I feel, and now I'm going to
- 11:12Speaker 3: adjust and move accordingly. That's how I ended up in
- 11:14Speaker 3: Cleveland in the first place.
- 11:16Speaker 4: But that is the team's job.
- 11:17Speaker 3: Their job is to get you for as cheap as
- 11:19Speaker 3: they possibly can, and your job is to get them
- 11:21Speaker 3: to overpay. They're not looking at you like, hey, I'm
- 11:25Speaker 3: sure you're giving us the contract that is perfect, you know,
- 11:29Speaker 3: for your value, you know. And I'm sure he's not
- 11:32Speaker 3: looking at the team saying like, I'm confident that you
- 11:35Speaker 3: were going to give me every penny that we both
- 11:37Speaker 3: believe I am worked. That's not how this works. It's business,
- 11:40Speaker 3: and you got to be able to separate that from
- 11:42Speaker 3: the other side. That way, you can still perform at
- 11:44Speaker 3: the level you need to to justify the money you're
- 11:46Speaker 3: getting from them, or if you truly gamble on yourself
- 11:49Speaker 3: from your next team.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Uh Hawk.
- 11:51Speaker 1: The only thing I'd be worried about if I'm Tampa
- 11:52Speaker 1: Bay is he can go out gamble on himself, have
- 11:54Speaker 1: a big year, the team can have a good year,
- 11:57Speaker 1: and he's petty, he'll hold onto this stuff.
- 11:59Speaker 4: And so I guess him.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Actually leaving having a good year and not signing with
- 12:02Speaker 1: Tampa Bay and going to like the La Rams to
- 12:04Speaker 1: replay Stafford, you know.
- 12:06Speaker 3: As he should. I mean, the biggest gambler is Kirk Cousins. Yeah,
- 12:11Speaker 3: that's the league's biggest gambler. And that is somebody that's
- 12:14Speaker 3: ice cold. I mean he will genuinely pack his shit
- 12:16Speaker 3: up and leave, yeah, and go get to the next dollar,
- 12:19Speaker 3: the most amount.
- 12:19Speaker 4: And you know, if I'm Baker Mayfield, that's how you need.
- 12:23Speaker 3: To operate the threatening the It just makes me realize,
- 12:27Speaker 3: I know you're bluffing at that point.
- 12:29Speaker 5: If you're the Bucks, though, you have to be worried
- 12:32Speaker 5: that there are so many avenues that can open up
- 12:35Speaker 5: for Baker Mayfield next year that you could end up
- 12:37Speaker 5: in a bidding war that you don't want to be in.
- 12:40Speaker 5: I mean, the Jets, suppose it doesn't work out in
- 12:43Speaker 5: Minnesota with Kyler Murray, then all of a sudden that
- 12:47Speaker 5: opens up. What happens if you know some of these
- 12:50Speaker 5: other jobs open up, and now you're in a bidding
- 12:53Speaker 5: war and you have no plan B.
- 12:55Speaker 3: If you're Tampa, yeah, I think it makes for good headlines.
- 12:58Speaker 3: I think it makes for great podcas cast content. There's
- 13:03Speaker 3: no pressure. If you're Tampa, there's not There's no pressure
- 13:06Speaker 3: for your Tampa. The pressure is all on Baker Mayfield.
- 13:09Speaker 3: It is because Baker's not really going to go to
- 13:12Speaker 3: free agency if they put a certain amount, like it's
- 13:14Speaker 3: the season now, the moment they come and say here's
- 13:16Speaker 3: what you want it, he's not going to say, no,
- 13:18Speaker 3: it's too late, you missed my deadline.
- 13:20Speaker 4: I don't want this money anymore.
- 13:22Speaker 3: You know, if he was really stone cold, that's what
- 13:24Speaker 3: he would say in that press conference, Oh yeah, I
- 13:26Speaker 3: gave him a deadline, and now I'm going to free agency.
- 13:28Speaker 3: So we're going to focus on this season and then
- 13:30Speaker 3: you know, they'll have an opportunity with the other thirty
- 13:32Speaker 3: one teams in March. If he said that, that's when
- 13:36Speaker 3: it's like, oh shit, right, that's what and not trying
- 13:38Speaker 3: to show you how good I've been in the community.
- 13:41Speaker 4: My kids are in Tampa.
- 13:43Speaker 3: Done, I've done great, I've played well, Like now that's
- 13:45Speaker 3: you still campaigning for the number that you want with
- 13:48Speaker 3: a fake deadline, So that means Tampa Bay has till
- 13:50Speaker 3: now until March to put the money you want in
- 13:53Speaker 3: front of you.
- 13:53Speaker 4: So yeah, why do I need to rush it? Let
- 13:55Speaker 4: me see you play.
- 13:55Speaker 3: Let's see if you can play under this pressure, because
- 13:57Speaker 3: I know you still want the money. Otherwise, we'll see
- 14:00Speaker 3: if you really you're really that convicted to walk away
- 14:04Speaker 3: if I put it in front of you, if you
- 14:05Speaker 3: continue to play.
- 14:06Speaker 4: Well.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Interesting, man, am Ike crazy to say that I think
- 14:10Speaker 1: the Cincinnati Bengals are going to win their division?
- 14:13Speaker 3: Oh No, You're not crazy at all. Okay, I would
- 14:15Speaker 3: say you would if you said they were going to
- 14:17Speaker 3: win the AFC. I don't think you would be crazy. Well,
- 14:19Speaker 3: I'm thinking about it. I got to be honest with you.
- 14:20Speaker 2: I love Joe burrow Man. I love that team.
- 14:23Speaker 4: We all do. We all do.
- 14:24Speaker 3: Joe needs to have an MVP season this year. That's
- 14:26Speaker 3: where I'm at, and I think Joe believes he will.
- 14:28Speaker 3: I think they've done great in the offseason. They've kind
- 14:30Speaker 3: of right sized their defense, going to get Dexter Lawrence.
- 14:34Speaker 3: They brought a cook at safety, which is a big.
- 14:36Speaker 4: Big deal.
- 14:37Speaker 3: The Corners played really well last year, so I think
- 14:39Speaker 3: that defense will be much better. I think their schedule
- 14:43Speaker 3: is like Taylor made for the situation they're in as
- 14:47Speaker 3: an organization. They've got an uptick at the old line.
- 14:52Speaker 3: I think all the stars are aligning for Cincinnati, and
- 14:57Speaker 3: I do believe that they have a very strong chance
- 15:00Speaker 3: end up back in the super Bowl if Joe Burrow
- 15:02Speaker 3: has an MVP season, and I think he will if
- 15:04Speaker 3: he stays healthy.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Uh in Cleveland, It's interesting what would you do here?
- 15:08Speaker 4: Hawk?
- 15:09Speaker 1: Would you go with would you go with Sanders with Shador?
- 15:13Speaker 1: Or would you go with Deshaun Watson as the starting quarterback?
- 15:16Speaker 1: But I think a lot of people are torn on this.
- 15:18Speaker 1: I'd probably go to Sean. I think you're gonna say
- 15:20Speaker 1: Shador Now I.
- 15:22Speaker 3: Want to say Shador. Yeah, I'm gonna say Shador. It's like,
- 15:24Speaker 3: what is what is DeShawn gonna get? You? Listen, You're
- 15:27Speaker 3: not winning the super Bowl this year? How do I
- 15:28Speaker 3: know you know you're not winning the Super Bowl this year?
- 15:30Speaker 3: You traded Boles Garrett Away. Yes, okay, so that tells
- 15:33Speaker 3: me you're not trying to win this year. So even
- 15:34Speaker 3: if the Shawn was the better option. What is the
- 15:37Speaker 3: point to get to? What are you trying to win
- 15:40Speaker 3: six games? Seven games? You know, I would argue Shador
- 15:43Speaker 3: could win six or seven games at the very least
- 15:46Speaker 3: you get to see year two to see, Okay, how
- 15:48Speaker 3: has the offseason served him well or not?
- 15:52Speaker 4: Is he taking a step forward.
- 15:53Speaker 3: I just think you can answer yourself more questions, but
- 15:55Speaker 3: not that different of a delta with him at quarterback
- 15:58Speaker 3: than Deshaun.
- 15:59Speaker 4: And then on top of that, I think the Browns.
- 16:09Speaker 3: Are going into this season answering as many questions that
- 16:15Speaker 3: they can with the quarterbacks that they have Deshaun not included.
- 16:18Speaker 3: They've paid them, so yeah, they might say, you know,
- 16:20Speaker 3: we paid them money, make them, make them do some
- 16:22Speaker 3: freaking work. We gave them two undred and thirty million dollars,
- 16:24Speaker 3: which I understand. I think there is if the question
- 16:29Speaker 3: from Shador is not answered, and it will be determined
- 16:32Speaker 3: by a winning lost column, they're going to move heavy
- 16:35Speaker 3: and earth to.
- 16:36Speaker 4: Try to get arch Manning. That's what I believe.
- 16:38Speaker 3: Wow, I believe their arch Manning is like arch Manning
- 16:42Speaker 3: or Bust. I just know they're Tennessee guys. I know
- 16:47Speaker 3: like the affinity and respect that they have for the
- 16:50Speaker 3: Mannings and their family, and if you look at all
- 16:53Speaker 3: of the supporting casts in Cleveland, the Mannings are a
- 16:58Speaker 3: family that Hey, if it's not the right situation, we ain't.
- 17:01Speaker 4: I don't give a damn where you pick or who
- 17:03Speaker 4: your trade away. We're not coming to play there.
- 17:05Speaker 3: And I think when you look around the Browns, it
- 17:07Speaker 3: is set up for not just a quarterback of the future.
- 17:10Speaker 3: If the Mannings had a situation to fall to Cleveland
- 17:13Speaker 3: next year in the draft, if their team is in
- 17:15Speaker 3: that situation, you look at the receivers they have, You
- 17:18Speaker 3: look at the defense, you look at the young corp
- 17:20Speaker 3: of guys they've drafted over the last two years. The
- 17:23Speaker 3: missing piece could be a Manning to a to some
- 17:26Speaker 3: some Tennessee Titans. No put intended in the Haslm family.
- 17:29Speaker 2: Yeah, very interesting, and DeShawn might win too many games
- 17:32Speaker 2: for them to get.
- 17:34Speaker 3: Yes, I mean, judge about what I've seen from DeShawn
- 17:36Speaker 3: and when he's played last I'm not worried about him
- 17:39Speaker 3: winning too much too.
- 17:40Speaker 4: Many, but he very well could have turned the page.
- 17:44Speaker 4: Who knows. Yes.
- 17:46Speaker 5: So we had on Aaron Shatz earlier this week and
- 17:49Speaker 5: he said the numbers point to the Houston Texans to
- 17:53Speaker 5: win to win the AFC. When I'm looking at C. J.
- 17:57Speaker 5: Stroud and not only do I wonder how much pressure
- 17:59Speaker 5: is on him, but I'm wondering what you need to
- 18:02Speaker 5: see from him to sign him to be your guy
- 18:06Speaker 5: going forward, considering how he just fell at the playoffs.
- 18:10Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't think I need to see anything. I
- 18:12Speaker 3: would sign him. I mean just because look, quarterbacks don't
- 18:15Speaker 3: grow on trees. He's had enough good football to say, hey,
- 18:18Speaker 3: this is your best option. Your window is now, and
- 18:20Speaker 3: your best window is to manage and put structure around
- 18:25Speaker 3: him to get him to a point where he's playing
- 18:27Speaker 3: his best when it matters most. They've revamped their O line,
- 18:33Speaker 3: they bringing David Montgomery in the run game.
- 18:36Speaker 4: They have already the best defense in football.
- 18:41Speaker 3: You know, they have a ton of depth on the
- 18:44Speaker 3: outside at receiver with especially if tanke Down proved to
- 18:47Speaker 3: be more healthy.
- 18:49Speaker 4: And now they have a year two with Nick Cayley.
- 18:50Speaker 3: This is like they've been musical chairs at offensive coordinator
- 18:53Speaker 3: for him and Nick Cayley being in year two, who
- 18:56Speaker 3: did a great job last year. I think all bows
- 18:59Speaker 3: well for the Texas, and I think that's why Schatz
- 19:01Speaker 3: probably feels that way is because them along with teams
- 19:04Speaker 3: like the Bengals, you know, they're the teams that things
- 19:09Speaker 3: seem like they're aligning for, you know, in a positive way.
- 19:12Speaker 3: And I would say the same of the I think
- 19:13Speaker 3: I think that would be I think it's a really
- 19:16Speaker 3: good chance to be the best that he's been in
- 19:17Speaker 3: his career this year. Well, you know, I think the
- 19:19Speaker 3: way he's a prosed the offseason, I think he's a
- 19:21Speaker 3: He was a young guy, got so much start him early,
- 19:25Speaker 3: probably underestimated how much harder it would get because of
- 19:29Speaker 3: that spotlight, and maybe it didn't coincide with his own
- 19:32Speaker 3: his process. All the reports that I've gotten is that
- 19:34Speaker 3: his process this year looks a lot closer.
- 19:37Speaker 4: To what it could have should have been early on
- 19:39Speaker 4: in his career.
- 19:40Speaker 3: His talent is still there, supporting cast is there, and
- 19:42Speaker 3: his defense, I mean, that's top notch man.
- 19:45Speaker 1: So all right, Hawk a couple of quick ones on
- 19:48Speaker 1: the way out, and we appreciate the times be concerned
- 19:52Speaker 1: that the A J four days in the training camp
- 19:54Speaker 1: that or two days in the training gamp, that the
- 19:57Speaker 1: Drake may aj Brown connection doesn't look good early on.
- 20:01Speaker 4: I think yes, yeah, is that the reports two days in?
- 20:05Speaker 1: Yes?
- 20:05Speaker 3: Yeah, No, I wouldn't be concerned with that. Zero concern,
- 20:09Speaker 3: zero concern. AJ Brown is the top five receiver in
- 20:12Speaker 3: the league. I think Drake May is the top five
- 20:14Speaker 3: quarterback in the league. I think they Actually, I think
- 20:17Speaker 3: Drake May looks better this year than he did last
- 20:19Speaker 3: year because AJ Brown is there one of the reasons.
- 20:21Speaker 3: But yeah, that's a big reason.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Would you start Mendozo or Kirk Cousins if you were
- 20:26Speaker 1: running the Raiders, Ah.
- 20:28Speaker 3: That's a great one. I would start Mendoza. I know
- 20:32Speaker 3: Tom Brady wants to sit quarterbacks because he sat. But
- 20:36Speaker 3: here's the thing. The reason why Tom Brady sat. He
- 20:38Speaker 3: was a six round pick. You barely on a roster,
- 20:41Speaker 3: but you weren't like, you know, they didn't hand the
- 20:43Speaker 3: keys to you. They didn't put you down because they're like,
- 20:46Speaker 3: this is the future of the franchise. Like, no, it
- 20:48Speaker 3: was a crap shoot and it just so happened to
- 20:50Speaker 3: they've been rewarded with the best quarterback ever. But I
- 20:52Speaker 3: think how the NFL is set up now where you
- 20:56Speaker 3: have this window for quarterbacks on their rookie deal to build.
- 21:01Speaker 4: Around them.
- 21:01Speaker 3: And yeah, I guess you can ruin quarterbacks, but at
- 21:03Speaker 3: the same time, you got to find that if you
- 21:05Speaker 3: got to do because you got to see if you get.
- 21:07Speaker 4: The fifth year option or year or two.
- 21:09Speaker 3: And the more you sit, the more question marks there
- 21:11Speaker 3: are around him, and it just you take away a
- 21:13Speaker 3: really really pivotal year again where he's on a rookie
- 21:16Speaker 3: contract and eventually he'll be making seventy million dollars a
- 21:20Speaker 3: year if he is a guy.
- 21:22Speaker 1: Rams of the field. It's the first time in a
- 21:23Speaker 1: long time I felt like we could do one of these.
- 21:25Speaker 1: I asked Goligains, Stumpy.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Had no idea where to go. Rams of the field
- 21:29Speaker 2: to win the Super Bowl this year?
- 21:31Speaker 4: Did Aaron Donald come back? Yes, Aaron Donald back. I'm
- 21:35Speaker 4: taking the Rams.
- 21:37Speaker 3: But without him they could still win, right and without
- 21:40Speaker 3: him they could still win. But I'm like more fifty
- 21:43Speaker 3: one forty nine to the field. Aaron Donald is the
- 21:45Speaker 3: best football player in NFL history.
- 21:47Speaker 2: That's my take.
- 21:48Speaker 3: That's what I really best. I think he is the
- 21:51Speaker 3: best football player that the game has ever seen.
- 21:54Speaker 2: That's unbelievable. Him and Miles Garrett.
- 21:57Speaker 1: I mean, geez, ridiculous, very ridiculous. All right, two more
- 22:01Speaker 1: we get you out of here. When you give your
- 22:02Speaker 1: son advice, is your son rejecting your advice?
- 22:06Speaker 2: Is he wanting it? Is he is he soaking it up?
- 22:08Speaker 2: Or is he like, Dad, shut up, I got this,
- 22:10Speaker 2: you know, ebbs and flows.
- 22:13Speaker 3: I think I think recently he's starting to see me
- 22:16Speaker 3: as a football player, where before it is just like Dad,
- 22:18Speaker 3: shut up. He's in a space now where he comes
- 22:21Speaker 3: to me for all the answers, you know, And that's
- 22:24Speaker 3: now I'm trying to get him mad at that, like, hey,
- 22:26Speaker 3: you can't be in the middle of the game and
- 22:27Speaker 3: look up to me like hey, what did you think?
- 22:29Speaker 4: No, it's like you're in it now. You just got
- 22:31Speaker 4: to go. We'll talk later.
- 22:32Speaker 3: You know.
- 22:32Speaker 4: Where before he was like, man, shut up.
- 22:34Speaker 2: What do you know?
- 22:35Speaker 4: You know?
- 22:36Speaker 1: I got him in a good space right now, Stu
- 22:38Speaker 1: guys just showing those breakup trophies. Man reminded me of
- 22:41Speaker 1: you will go.
- 22:42Speaker 4: I'm like, bro, come on, are you serious?
- 22:46Speaker 5: I did?
- 22:46Speaker 3: He was taking to Montreal so he put some respect
- 22:48Speaker 3: on my damn may.
- 22:49Speaker 2: Yes, you'll know he's fully grown up. What he's just rejecting.
- 22:53Speaker 1: He's not looking to you anymore, Okada, Exactly, It's not
- 22:57Speaker 1: far away, I promise you.
- 22:58Speaker 4: I probably it's so good.
- 23:00Speaker 2: All right, here's the final question.
- 23:01Speaker 1: We've asked every single guest this Indiana University of Indiana
- 23:05Speaker 1: football school or basketball school?
- 23:11Speaker 4: But is that? How does that? I need more context
- 23:14Speaker 4: now or just like overall right now.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Right right this second, because I think if you ask
- 23:20Speaker 1: in any other year, I think everyone in Indiana would
- 23:22Speaker 1: say we're basketball school. But basketball schools want to be
- 23:25Speaker 1: football schools because there's more money with football and.
- 23:27Speaker 2: So so right now, let's do it right now.
- 23:31Speaker 3: They're a football school, so they're raining national champions like
- 23:35Speaker 3: that's you can't call it rainning national champions.
- 23:38Speaker 4: Not a football school, right, you're at nuts. They're a
- 23:41Speaker 4: football school's absolutely all right?
- 23:44Speaker 1: Top in the Hawks. I'd like to have you around
- 23:46Speaker 1: here more. We appreciate it, man, it's good to see
- 23:47Speaker 1: your smiling face. Mikey's going to run here. His oil
- 23:50Speaker 1: change is done.
- 23:54Speaker 2: But we appreciate you doing this.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Aaron Donald the greatest football player of all time. That's ah,
- 24:00Speaker 1: that's that's that's a good take right there.
- 24:02Speaker 2: I like it.
- 24:03Speaker 4: You don't believe that, but I don't care because.
- 24:05Speaker 2: I think it's Lawrence Saylor. That's all yeah, I know.
- 24:07Speaker 4: I get it. I'm not mad at you for that,
- 24:09Speaker 4: but I appreciate you guys having me brother all right.
- 24:11Speaker 2: We love you Hawk, Thank you for doing this brother
- 24:13Speaker 2: all right, man,
