- 0:00Speaker 1: The Force will be with you always.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Hello, and welcome back to another episode of Star Wars Alliance.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Of course, I'm your host Clay, and with me like
- 0:28Speaker 2: always is Katie.
- 0:32Speaker 3: How I got botox today? So I'm like, yeah, like
- 0:37Speaker 3: I feel like crap because I got thirty two needles
- 0:39Speaker 3: stuck in my head, but also like, hey, migrains gone that.
- 0:45Speaker 2: It's it's I feel like it's counterintuitive at some point
- 0:50Speaker 2: because thirty two needles going into your head. Yeah, and
- 0:55Speaker 2: it's supposed to mitigate migraines. That just like my brain
- 0:59Speaker 2: is boggling.
- 1:00Speaker 3: And then here here here here, and then like seven
- 1:07Speaker 3: back here and then I get like into my shoulders
- 1:11Speaker 3: and my jaw.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Okay, so so how long does the process take again?
- 1:15Speaker 3: For that? About fifteen minutes? Damn the it took about
- 1:23Speaker 3: thirty a day because my blood pressure was so low.
- 1:26Speaker 3: So she was trying to like keep me on my feet.
- 1:33Speaker 3: But like she said, she can do it in about
- 1:35Speaker 3: ten minutes, but she takes longer for me, because I.
- 1:40Speaker 2: That's not a feat. I would not call that a feat.
- 1:43Speaker 2: I would say, hey, you should take longer, like right
- 1:46Speaker 2: minute of freaking syringe, like take thirty Well.
- 1:51Speaker 3: So it's it's for syringes total, and then there's eight
- 1:55Speaker 3: pokes per syringe because it's two hundred units of botox,
- 2:02Speaker 3: so it's fifty units per srange math. It's hard.
- 2:09Speaker 2: It's the end of the day. I don't even want
- 2:10Speaker 2: to do an element. I was like, wait what, I
- 2:13Speaker 2: started to think about it. No, not gonna do it, Nope.
- 2:17Speaker 2: But yeah, we were here. It's a very slow news week.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Of course, currently Daredevil is on Disney Plus we are
- 2:27Speaker 2: just counting down the days for and or season two mm.
- 2:31Speaker 2: And if we would have known it was going to
- 2:34Speaker 2: be this short of a news week, we probably would
- 2:39Speaker 2: have listened to the sequel to the audible original, The
- 2:43Speaker 2: High Republic though, so that might be something that we
- 2:47Speaker 2: have to do next week, depending on the news cycle.
- 2:53Speaker 2: But yeah, we don't have a whole lot of stuff.
- 2:57Speaker 2: I will say some of the bigger highlights is gaming
- 3:01Speaker 2: related stuff, so based on the celebration, yeah, rumors and
- 3:08Speaker 2: then also cancelations shutting down some stuff, so we'll get
- 3:15Speaker 2: to talk about that as well as like Katie also
- 3:20Speaker 2: kind of mentioned uh uh celebration scheduling, so we'll talk
- 3:25Speaker 2: a little bit about that. But I just want to
- 3:29Speaker 2: take a moment, because we're going to have such a
- 3:31Speaker 2: short episode. I want to go ahead and say Katie
- 3:35Speaker 2: has been seeing it on my Instagram. I have been
- 3:38Speaker 2: on a crazy like book purchasing like I don't know
- 3:45Speaker 2: if it like gives me some sort of high or
- 3:49Speaker 2: it's some sort of addiction. Guys. Uh, I don't even
- 3:54Speaker 2: know if buying a kindle would necessarily or any type
- 3:58Speaker 2: of like eerie would necessarily save me money because I've
- 4:04Speaker 2: seen so many people get lost in the shuffle of
- 4:07Speaker 2: buying a e book and then buying the physical copy
- 4:10Speaker 2: immediately after. So it's like.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Exhibit A, which does which you can't see on camera.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Which does remind me, guys, a very exciting news. Katie
- 4:24Speaker 2: and I actually got the uh the arc the arc
- 4:32Speaker 2: for uh way wait Seeker, Sorry Way Seeker, and uh
- 4:41Speaker 2: I think I'm gonna need to take a pause on
- 4:43Speaker 2: all my reading to actually jump on that soon.
- 4:47Speaker 3: Yes, it's not The embargo for that, guys is April
- 4:51Speaker 3: twenty first, so it's right after a celebration, So I'm
- 4:53Speaker 3: assuming that there's going to be early copies at the
- 4:56Speaker 3: celebration for people to pick up. So just keep that
- 5:03Speaker 3: in mind. With how you guys are looking at this book,
- 5:06Speaker 3: but our review should be out the twenty first, along
- 5:12Speaker 3: with our and or season two premiere review and then
- 5:17Speaker 3: our celebration stuff, so all that will be coming out
- 5:20Speaker 3: that week.
- 5:22Speaker 2: So yeah, I am currently in the beginning chapters. I
- 5:28Speaker 2: say beginning chapters, but I think I'm on chapter like
- 5:31Speaker 2: seven and or eight of Throng Alliances. I have started
- 5:37Speaker 2: to dive into that because I think we are covering
- 5:39Speaker 2: that next week.
- 5:41Speaker 3: Yep.
- 5:42Speaker 2: And again, guys, these are mostly gonna be my thoughts.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Katie has been reviewing these there's on this exact same podcast,
- 5:53Speaker 2: like she has reviewed it like four times already, so
- 5:59Speaker 2: she's gonna be asked me questions about the book, and
- 6:01Speaker 2: I'm gonna be giving my thoughts. I already gave my
- 6:05Speaker 2: thoughts on the first book Thrown and that was on
- 6:11Speaker 2: our last episode. But if you would like to wait,
- 6:14Speaker 2: I am splitting them into their own episode that we're
- 6:17Speaker 2: going to drop later when we have like some sort
- 6:23Speaker 2: of slow week for us to kind of just throw
- 6:27Speaker 2: it all together. But yeah, with that, let's go ahead
- 6:31Speaker 2: and jump into some of the early news that came
- 6:35Speaker 2: this week. Nights of the Old Republic.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Yes, this.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Right when I think I have forgotten about it, they
- 6:47Speaker 2: bring me back in and I keep telling Travis, don't
- 6:52Speaker 2: give me hope, don't give me hope, don't do it,
- 6:56Speaker 2: and he's over here, like, give me hope, like I like,
- 7:00Speaker 2: I will never give up. I will never give up
- 7:02Speaker 2: on this, on this game. I hope it never dies.
- 7:06Speaker 2: And it's so weird the evolution of this game and
- 7:15Speaker 2: how it has and I'm talking about the remake of course,
- 7:19Speaker 2: how it has like hung on by a thread and
- 7:25Speaker 2: has been able to stay alive. According to Saber Interactive,
- 7:30Speaker 2: everything that we have talked about is still in development.
- 7:33Speaker 2: We will share information on upcoming games when we have
- 7:38Speaker 2: something cool to share. And but Travis made a good point.
- 7:42Speaker 2: This has been in development for almost four years. How
- 7:48Speaker 2: can you not have something cool to share?
- 7:51Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, again, I don't really understand the whole gaming
- 7:58Speaker 3: premise that like, uh, it's it's wild how long development
- 8:04Speaker 3: can take on some things. Just speaking from experience, not
- 8:09Speaker 3: necessarily game related, but just software development in general, it
- 8:13Speaker 3: can just take a lot longer than some people expect.
- 8:16Speaker 3: But that also, I've said it before and I'll sure
- 8:21Speaker 3: I'll say it again. It blows my mind. How these
- 8:23Speaker 3: people can be like, oh, yeah, this is coming on
- 8:26Speaker 3: this date, but or like, we have this in development,
- 8:31Speaker 3: but y'all development takes so long.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Like there has been a long there has been a
- 8:37Speaker 2: very big debate in the gaming community. Katie and I
- 8:42Speaker 2: almost feel like it almost got there with movies, but
- 8:47Speaker 2: they've kind of course corrected with how they market movies
- 8:49Speaker 2: and everything else. But there has been a forever disagreement
- 8:54Speaker 2: and debate when it comes to fans of the gaming community.
- 8:59Speaker 2: Some people want to know, like, if there's an announcement,
- 9:05Speaker 2: give us the announcement. It doesn't matter if all you
- 9:08Speaker 2: have is concept are give us the announcement. And there's
- 9:11Speaker 2: some people that are saying, hey, don't make the announcement
- 9:17Speaker 2: until you're like fifty five to seventy five percent done
- 9:21Speaker 2: with the game. So that way marketing can be very
- 9:27Speaker 2: fluid and more present than that of just saying, hey,
- 9:33Speaker 2: by the way, we are working on this game, and
- 9:36Speaker 2: then four years later, hey, that's still in the works.
- 9:40Speaker 2: We're still working on it though we have nothing to share.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Maybe next year and then next year comes, Oh, here
- 9:46Speaker 2: is the character model, and you're just like, I guess
- 9:50Speaker 2: I should be happy because at least now we have something. Now, see,
- 9:55Speaker 2: after four years, they should have some sort of like
- 10:03Speaker 2: some sort of cut scene. It doesn't need like the
- 10:06Speaker 2: mechanics of the game. I can see being like, hey,
- 10:11Speaker 2: this might be a little too choppy. We're not entirely
- 10:14Speaker 2: sure how we feel about this. Yet when you are
- 10:18Speaker 2: filming cut scenes, it's like filming an animated movie, like yep,
- 10:23Speaker 2: you should be able to steal something from there to
- 10:26Speaker 2: create some sort of, you know, another teaser, because we
- 10:30Speaker 2: still have the nights of the old public teaser with
- 10:35Speaker 2: revenue yep and blowing up the lightsaber coming out of
- 10:40Speaker 2: the shadows and all that. Like you can have more
- 10:44Speaker 2: than that. I know you have to, Like it's been
- 10:47Speaker 2: four years.
- 10:48Speaker 3: It really doesn't make sense to me, how because you
- 10:54Speaker 3: want people to have the hype for these video games,
- 10:58Speaker 3: and so announcing something four to six years prior to release,
- 11:04Speaker 3: it's just wild to me, Like I like it. When
- 11:10Speaker 3: Lego Skywalker Saga got delayed so badly it got delayed
- 11:14Speaker 3: two years, it like went out the window for me
- 11:18Speaker 3: and I was like, oh, yeah, this is coming, Like
- 11:20Speaker 3: I'm gonna play it. But then when you're so disappointed
- 11:24Speaker 3: by how things are it's the end of the day.
- 11:28Speaker 3: And it's like you had such a good model for
- 11:32Speaker 3: your previous Lego Star Wars games, but then you just
- 11:36Speaker 3: screwed it up kind of thing. And but you spent
- 11:39Speaker 3: two extra years on this game for that. I can't
- 11:43Speaker 3: even imagine, like actual video games, like Matt is like
- 11:47Speaker 3: in like Call of Duty right now, and I'm like,
- 11:50Speaker 3: I don't understand why this is a thing, but like, sure, see,
- 11:55Speaker 3: I think.
- 11:56Speaker 2: It's a little different when it comes to those type
- 11:58Speaker 2: of online games because there is an expectation of, hey,
- 12:03Speaker 2: there's gonna be an expansion or a new game every
- 12:06Speaker 2: year or every other year. So that way, those gamers
- 12:10Speaker 2: are always consuming content, always lining EA's pockets. It's like, hey,
- 12:16Speaker 2: it's just always coming in. Whereas games like Knights of
- 12:20Speaker 2: the Old Republic, it's not going to be an online
- 12:23Speaker 2: service game. It is going to be a one player
- 12:27Speaker 2: game that is heavily story based, and those do tend
- 12:34Speaker 2: to take longer. I'm not going to say they haven't,
- 12:38Speaker 2: but I think what And it's so funny because recently
- 12:44Speaker 2: I've started to get back into my childhood and recently
- 12:49Speaker 2: started watching wrestling again, and I'm starting to learn all
- 12:52Speaker 2: these newer terms and kind of learning how the wrestling
- 12:55Speaker 2: world works. And Travis Snell, I know you're going to
- 12:58Speaker 2: be listening to this hopefully and help me if I'm
- 13:03Speaker 2: getting this wrong, and correct me so I can make
- 13:05Speaker 2: a correction next show. But when there's certain events in
- 13:10Speaker 2: wrestling and like you don't really know what's gonna happen,
- 13:15Speaker 2: and then like a wrestler comes out when nobody expect
- 13:18Speaker 2: them to they and like the crowd goes like super
- 13:23Speaker 2: wild and they're like, oh my god, that's called a pop, Like, hey,
- 13:27Speaker 2: we really got the crowd to pop. And I feel
- 13:30Speaker 2: like in the gaming world, that's what some developers really
- 13:36Speaker 2: want out of their announcements at some of these game
- 13:40Speaker 2: award shows, because when it comes to the game awards,
- 13:45Speaker 2: like the actual meaningful award shows that go to the actors,
- 13:52Speaker 2: the developers, the character designers, like all of like basically
- 13:57Speaker 2: the oscars of the game, those are smaller and a
- 14:01Speaker 2: lot of people don't talk about them. A lot of
- 14:04Speaker 2: people talk about the game awards, which is basically a
- 14:09Speaker 2: huge advertisement for games that are going to be coming
- 14:12Speaker 2: out in the future because they pay so much money,
- 14:17Speaker 2: just like how they do in like a Super Bowl
- 14:19Speaker 2: to have their trailer at that award show, which.
- 14:23Speaker 3: Is at all but.
- 14:27Speaker 2: But it's a live show, so you're gonna have an
- 14:30Speaker 2: entire arena pop at the sight of Red Lightsaber when
- 14:36Speaker 2: it comes onto the screen with that's the Old Republic, right,
- 14:40Speaker 2: So it kind of hurts the brand, but at the
- 14:45Speaker 2: same time, it's the Oh, but it'll be worth it
- 14:49Speaker 2: when we finally get to announce it type of thing.
- 14:52Speaker 4: All right, y'all, we're gonna hit our first ad break
- 14:54Speaker 4: and we will be right back in three two one.
- 14:59Speaker 2: I have this like push and pull towards this, Like
- 15:03Speaker 2: I have a love hate relationship with these types of
- 15:06Speaker 2: games because I know, hey, taking this long couldn't mean
- 15:13Speaker 2: And this is me just being like super hopeful of like, hey,
- 15:19Speaker 2: they're taking their time, they don't want to mess this up. Yeah,
- 15:23Speaker 2: they are really caring about this game, rather than just
- 15:28Speaker 2: pushing it out there and just being like, yeah, you know,
- 15:30Speaker 2: it's just another remake. People will just play it just
- 15:33Speaker 2: to play it and whatever.
- 15:35Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, And that's that's the hope, that's the dream.
- 15:40Speaker 3: But I guess we'll just have to see.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. In other gaming news, we have Star wars
- 15:52Speaker 2: Hunters Oh my gosh, here is my shock face.
- 15:56Speaker 3: Oh no, so shocks.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Star wars Hunters will be shutting down later this year,
- 16:06Speaker 2: and that's literally the gift that I shared with Katie
- 16:08Speaker 2: when she shared this in our Star Wars Alliance chat.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Star Wars Hunters will officially be shutting down on October first,
- 16:15Speaker 2: twenty twenty five. The game's final update will come on
- 16:18Speaker 2: April fifteenth, which will bring a new playable character for
- 16:22Speaker 2: players to enjoy. Eight months before closing its doors, there
- 16:29Speaker 2: just wasn't a lot of hype around this game.
- 16:34Speaker 3: There was three years ago.
- 16:37Speaker 2: Yeah, when when again, when the announcement was there, when
- 16:43Speaker 2: there was this promise of what it could have been,
- 16:47Speaker 2: and then they decided, Hey, I think we can actually
- 16:51Speaker 2: turn this into just a quote unquote money maker, free
- 16:56Speaker 2: to play, you know, cash grab of a hey battle pass,
- 17:01Speaker 2: battle pass, you know, buy weapons by characters type of thing,
- 17:06Speaker 2: which Katie, I've said this to you plenty of times
- 17:10Speaker 2: throughout the last few years. Gamers are getting smarter and
- 17:14Speaker 2: they understand, hey, we're spending more money on games that
- 17:22Speaker 2: aren't very much fulfilling for us. This is just to
- 17:25Speaker 2: pass the time, and you're asking us to spend hundreds
- 17:29Speaker 2: of dollars every single year to play the same game
- 17:32Speaker 2: all over and over and over again.
- 17:34Speaker 3: Yeap, and.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Excuse me. And we've learned, we've we've learned from our mistakes,
- 17:43Speaker 2: and we're tired of spending all the money, and so
- 17:47Speaker 2: that's why go ahead.
- 17:49Speaker 3: And I actually played this one for a little bit
- 17:52Speaker 3: because like I played like Injustice too on my phone
- 17:56Speaker 3: and stuff, and Hunters had a phone app, so I
- 17:59Speaker 3: was like, you know what, like let me try it
- 18:02Speaker 3: kind of thing. It really wasn't that intuitive. It lived
- 18:06Speaker 3: on the battle pass regime kind of thing, and it
- 18:13Speaker 3: just wasn't super fun, like it had like your goals
- 18:17Speaker 3: for the day, but then you had to go into
- 18:19Speaker 3: battle for those, obviously with it being the battle pass one.
- 18:23Speaker 3: And it's not something that I could just see myself
- 18:26Speaker 3: playing consistently, so I ended up deleting it. I'm not surprised.
- 18:31Speaker 3: I saw somebody say that the game was announce from
- 18:37Speaker 3: the time the game was announced to the time it
- 18:40Speaker 3: was made available worldwide, that was longer than how long
- 18:46Speaker 3: it's been online or how long it will have been online.
- 18:50Speaker 2: I mean, which isn't much of a surprise. I can't
- 18:52Speaker 2: even remember the name of There was recently a game
- 18:58Speaker 2: that came out on PlayStation and I think it was
- 19:05Speaker 2: online for less than two weeks and then immediately died.
- 19:13Speaker 2: It's but it's again, it's the way that these companies
- 19:17Speaker 2: think that they can just you know, copy and paste
- 19:21Speaker 2: all of the other successful games in the same formula,
- 19:24Speaker 2: and we're just gonna say, hey, I've already been playing
- 19:29Speaker 2: this type of game. I don't want to go out
- 19:32Speaker 2: and pay just as much to play another game that's
- 19:36Speaker 2: exactly like it.
- 19:38Speaker 3: I'm gonna go ahead and lead us into our like
- 19:42Speaker 3: one of our other topics, but like the Wayseeker Special
- 19:45Speaker 3: Editions and Goldborough, I know the same thing because Clay
- 19:53Speaker 3: asked us in our chat was like, I don't feel
- 19:55Speaker 3: like sprayed Edges are special anymore. Yeah, they are because
- 19:59Speaker 3: they can make you fifteen extra dollars for the book.
- 20:03Speaker 3: But Fourth Wing kind of did it and was like, hey,
- 20:07Speaker 3: there's only one edition of it. We sold out of it.
- 20:10Speaker 3: Now you don't get any and now it's becoming super
- 20:13Speaker 3: trendy because originally sprayed edges were just one solid color.
- 20:17Speaker 3: There really wasn't any extra detail or anything to it.
- 20:21Speaker 3: And now I mean these two books, yeah, they're not
- 20:27Speaker 3: trendy or like, they're not special, but they still look
- 20:31Speaker 3: super cute. Like here's the Inkstone book if I can
- 20:38Speaker 3: remember to click the page with Vernestra's tattoo on the side.
- 20:45Speaker 3: And here is the the hardcovered design with the light whip.
- 20:51Speaker 3: And then we also have Goldsborough's with the operash on
- 20:58Speaker 3: the side, and then a very nice like I think
- 21:04Speaker 3: this is her ship maybe with the lightning on the cover,
- 21:09Speaker 3: like it looks super cool. Obviously I'm not picking these
- 21:15Speaker 3: up at this point. More power to you if you are.
- 21:19Speaker 3: Inkstone and Goldsborough do a really good job with their
- 21:21Speaker 3: shipping they are in the UK, but their customer service
- 21:27Speaker 3: does really well with at least for me, they've done
- 21:32Speaker 3: really well with us shipping and trying to find your
- 21:36Speaker 3: package and whatnot. So and.
- 21:40Speaker 2: The way that I see that is again, you know,
- 21:43Speaker 2: I've I've gone onto this, you know, high of like
- 21:46Speaker 2: buying all these books, and I found myself on Bookstagram
- 21:52Speaker 2: and book talk and I'm seeing all these people show
- 21:55Speaker 2: off all of their beautiful books. I'm not going to
- 21:56Speaker 2: say that they aren't beautiful, but in my mind, when
- 22:01Speaker 2: I see something like this, I think of it as
- 22:03Speaker 2: a special edition. So when you and the only thing
- 22:08Speaker 2: that I can really equate it to because the only
- 22:11Speaker 2: really thing that I have bought that has been a
- 22:14Speaker 2: special edition of something has either been a video game
- 22:17Speaker 2: or a movie. You buy a special edition of a
- 22:21Speaker 2: four K Blu ray, you know, or a four K DVD,
- 22:29Speaker 2: and you have a special case with it. Cool. I
- 22:35Speaker 2: know that I want to buy that specifically for the
- 22:38Speaker 2: movie that it's for, because I really like that movie.
- 22:46Speaker 2: When I see somebody that has all of the sprayed
- 22:51Speaker 2: edges of every single book, it's either Okay, you have
- 22:58Speaker 2: a really cool edished for these things, and okay, you
- 23:01Speaker 2: kind of like the aesthetic, but like at the same time,
- 23:04Speaker 2: like can all of your books be that special to you?
- 23:11Speaker 2: Like it's every single book that you were buying the
- 23:14Speaker 2: five out of five review? Is it the Tenetta ten?
- 23:18Speaker 3: Well? And like for me, so, I, oh, good job, Chris,
- 23:25Speaker 3: we put something relevant in the chat for us. Sorry,
- 23:31Speaker 3: we'll get to that in a second. So for me,
- 23:34Speaker 3: I picked up the special the sprayed edges for my
- 23:40Speaker 3: books for Fourth Wing because I was like, okay, cool.
- 23:44Speaker 3: I picked up the sprayed edges for Shadow of the
- 23:47Speaker 3: Sithe because we had read that one already and I
- 23:51Speaker 3: was like, I would like a special edition.
- 23:53Speaker 2: Yeah, word this.
- 23:56Speaker 3: I had picked up the special editions for Phase one
- 24:00Speaker 3: of the High Republic because I thought the covers looked
- 24:03Speaker 3: cool and I wanted to be able to display them.
- 24:06Speaker 3: So it's stuff like that where most people on booksta
- 24:10Speaker 3: gram are hunting books because they're trophy collectors, and I'm
- 24:16Speaker 3: gonna recommend a bookstro grammer that I personally love. I
- 24:21Speaker 3: relate to a lot of what she says. It's entirely
- 24:24Speaker 3: bonkers on Instagram and she has a sub stack, but
- 24:28Speaker 3: she talks about how consumerism has affected book talk and
- 24:35Speaker 3: books to gram so much that it's just gotten wild
- 24:42Speaker 3: and it's not necessarily the publisher's fault for taking advantage
- 24:47Speaker 3: of people and like hopping on to trends, but it's
- 24:53Speaker 3: also like, hey, we as consumers need to be smarter
- 24:57Speaker 3: about what we're consuming, and oh, hey, maybe you wan
- 25:01Speaker 3: to get a special edition of each book so it
- 25:03Speaker 3: looks better on your shelf, but don't go then get
- 25:08Speaker 3: five hundred copies, Like there's for the Fourth Wing and
- 25:12Speaker 3: Iron Flame books, there's like seven special editions with different
- 25:16Speaker 3: sprayed edges. I saw that, Yeah, there's like the Australian
- 25:21Speaker 3: version has different sprayed edges, the German one has different
- 25:25Speaker 3: sprayed edges.
- 25:26Speaker 2: France, Like I saw somebody recently just scroll I was
- 25:30Speaker 2: scrolling and they're like, oh, you know, I just found
- 25:33Speaker 2: my my japan version of this, and my Australian one
- 25:42Speaker 2: is coming in the mail in a couple of days
- 25:44Speaker 2: or whatever, and I guess to reach their own because
- 25:51Speaker 2: for me, in that case, what I would say is, Okay,
- 25:57Speaker 2: if you love Fourth Wing that much, you do you right.
- 26:04Speaker 2: And the reason why I say that is because I'm
- 26:08Speaker 2: pretty sure I own three copies of Princess Brett. I
- 26:14Speaker 2: own the fifteenth anniversary, the twentieth anniversary, and then the
- 26:19Speaker 2: regular DVD, and I so I can't be super judgmental
- 26:26Speaker 2: on that. But for me, it's only going to be
- 26:30Speaker 2: Princess Bride. I'm not gonna do that with like all
- 26:34Speaker 2: of my DVDs because not all of them are my favorite, you.
- 26:40Speaker 3: Know, right. But in like this case, like Goldsborough has
- 26:43Speaker 3: been putting out special editions for Star Wars for almost
- 26:47Speaker 3: five years now, I think so people are specifically getting
- 26:51Speaker 3: the Goldsboro book for their shelf, not anything else.
- 26:58Speaker 2: So me being in now in the publishing world and
- 27:06Speaker 2: seeing a little bit of how things are played out.
- 27:10Speaker 2: I know that Goldsborough themselves have to go to ping
- 27:18Speaker 2: On a Random House in this case, and say we
- 27:22Speaker 2: want another Sprayed Edge, and they are going to pay
- 27:29Speaker 2: out of pocket to ping On Random House and say, hey,
- 27:34Speaker 2: for this special edition, we're going to pay this much
- 27:37Speaker 2: to go get printed and do all of these nice things.
- 27:39Speaker 2: So they're paying out of pocket for all of this themselves.
- 27:43Speaker 2: But the problem that I have, and what you're saying,
- 27:47Speaker 2: is that they're doing it for every book. I don't
- 27:51Speaker 2: think it needs to be every book. Of course, it's
- 27:54Speaker 2: the way that they quote unquote make money because of
- 27:57Speaker 2: course there's going to be those trophy collectors and people
- 28:01Speaker 2: who want the special editions. Guys, they're not special editions.
- 28:06Speaker 2: If every single one of them is like it, there's
- 28:09Speaker 2: nothing special about it anymore. It needs that thing that
- 28:16Speaker 2: makes it special. And so I would suggest if anybody
- 28:21Speaker 2: at Penguin Random House is listening to this right now,
- 28:26Speaker 2: or anybody at Goldsborough for that matter, I would legitimately
- 28:34Speaker 2: look at the initiatives that Star Wars is having and
- 28:38Speaker 2: the books that they are releasing and saying, hey, which
- 28:43Speaker 2: one is going to be the moneymaker? Or hey, out
- 28:47Speaker 2: of all the high republic books, like what's the first book,
- 28:53Speaker 2: what's the climax of the book, and what's the ending
- 28:56Speaker 2: of the book, Because those are going to be the
- 28:58Speaker 2: pinnacles and everybody's going to gravitate towards those are going
- 29:02Speaker 2: to be the ones that need the special editions.
- 29:04Speaker 3: Right, But the term special edition has lost its meaning,
- 29:10Speaker 3: for this is my trophy copy. This is the thing
- 29:14Speaker 3: that I will collect for everything. Now it's just another
- 29:18Speaker 3: version of the way the book's being published realistically, and
- 29:22Speaker 3: you're paying more money for the sprayed edges. I'm going
- 29:25Speaker 3: to disagree with you on hey, Like I don't want
- 29:28Speaker 3: to collect every single one, like I'm collecting all the
- 29:32Speaker 3: special editions for Like, I'm not saying I'm collecting every edition.
- 29:37Speaker 3: I'm collecting a sprayed edge copy of every book a
- 29:41Speaker 3: fourth way, Like that's just what's happening. I don't care
- 29:44Speaker 3: if I haven't read the book yet, Like I'm going
- 29:46Speaker 3: to be doing that now. If these books for Inkstone
- 29:53Speaker 3: and Goldsborough came out after I had read the book,
- 29:58Speaker 3: like maybe it would be a different conversation on me
- 30:00Speaker 3: picking up some of these versions, but like I picked
- 30:04Speaker 3: up conversions, I picked up Shadow of Sith, like, oh,
- 30:09Speaker 3: and I do have Cataclysm because I was trying to
- 30:11Speaker 3: pick up a special edition version of every High Republic
- 30:14Speaker 3: book because I had done that with Face one. Yeah,
- 30:20Speaker 3: but then they really like I didn't want to.
- 30:23Speaker 2: They weren't doing spray edges in phase one. They were
- 30:26Speaker 2: doing covers, right, yeah.
- 30:29Speaker 3: So they changed to sending them. I think that's when
- 30:32Speaker 3: they started sending them to Goldsborough. Is they stopped doing
- 30:34Speaker 3: the out of print for Higher Republic and then sent
- 30:36Speaker 3: it to Goldsborough and it was like, oh popular. So
- 30:40Speaker 3: then it just kind of continued.
- 30:42Speaker 4: We're gonna go into our second ad break and we'll
- 30:46Speaker 4: be right back.
- 30:48Speaker 2: It's it's also just like you said, consumerism and like
- 30:53Speaker 2: because again I'm even thinking about all the versions of
- 30:58Speaker 2: uh Brendan Sander sends like Cosmir verse stuff and there's
- 31:03Speaker 2: so many different prints of like I saw that, there's
- 31:07Speaker 2: like an entire wave of nothing but white trade paperbacks
- 31:12Speaker 2: and hardcovers and they look so good and I'm like, God,
- 31:15Speaker 2: damn it, why don't I have that? So like I
- 31:18Speaker 2: get it. I get you want the new shiny thing
- 31:23Speaker 2: you want them, thing that looks good. I get it.
- 31:27Speaker 2: These books that we're talking about are gonna be on
- 31:29Speaker 2: a shelf. They're gonna be looked at not only by you,
- 31:33Speaker 2: but if you ever have anybody come visit your house
- 31:37Speaker 2: you want something esthetically pleasing. I totally understand.
- 31:41Speaker 3: I can only imagine what people come to my house
- 31:45Speaker 3: and say about walking into my library and going like,
- 31:50Speaker 3: oh my gosh, this is a buttload of Star Wars books,
- 31:53Speaker 3: Like I can't only imagine, like, oh, it's gotta be
- 31:58Speaker 3: so funny. So yeah, they're gonna end up on a shelf,
- 32:05Speaker 3: They're gonna end up well loved. And this is a
- 32:10Speaker 3: trend that's just here to stay stick around for a
- 32:13Speaker 3: little bit.
- 32:14Speaker 5: So yeah, I'm kind of curious what the next big
- 32:22Speaker 5: thing will be, though, like because.
- 32:28Speaker 2: I do kind of like I remember that I missed
- 32:32Speaker 2: out on uh Light of the Jedi and the Rising Storm,
- 32:41Speaker 2: but you would share the link with the Falling Star,
- 32:46Speaker 2: and I were able to get that one. I was
- 32:48Speaker 2: able to get that one because I still have the
- 32:50Speaker 2: beanie that it came with. Amberlyn wears that beanie all
- 32:55Speaker 2: the time and I just love it because it's in
- 32:57Speaker 2: big letters. It just as high republic. So when it
- 33:04Speaker 2: comes to the sprayed edges, like a part of me
- 33:09Speaker 2: looks at it and I'm like, Okay, that would be
- 33:12Speaker 2: kind of cool to have. But the thing that turns
- 33:15Speaker 2: me off about it so much is that I'm seeing
- 33:18Speaker 2: sprayed edges everywhere. That's the literally the only thing that
- 33:21Speaker 2: turns me off to it is the fact that I
- 33:23Speaker 2: see it more often than not.
- 33:26Speaker 3: I think it's a distinctive trend. I actually really like
- 33:32Speaker 3: the sprayed edges. If, like, if Inkstone and Goldsborough weren't
- 33:37Speaker 3: in the UK, I would probably buy the sprayed edges
- 33:40Speaker 3: version more than I would to traditional hardcover, just being honest,
- 33:44Speaker 3: because like I take the dust jackets off the books, Like,
- 33:50Speaker 3: I'm not a dust jacket person. I've never been a
- 33:52Speaker 3: dust jacket person. I have a bunch of Book of
- 33:54Speaker 3: the month books have no dust jacket on them, Like,
- 33:57Speaker 3: I just don't like it. So to me, the sprayed
- 34:00Speaker 3: edges give it more of a glossy finish that stays
- 34:05Speaker 3: with the actual cover, with stays intact with the book,
- 34:08Speaker 3: because I feel like if I try to read a
- 34:10Speaker 3: book with the dust jacket on, the dust jackets just
- 34:13Speaker 3: gonna get ruined, So why would I leave it on
- 34:15Speaker 3: the book? And then if I take it off the book,
- 34:18Speaker 3: then I just lose it. So I like the sprayed edges,
- 34:22Speaker 3: And I know some people they I have seen this
- 34:29Speaker 3: where people will just turn the books around and they
- 34:33Speaker 3: know exactly where it is in the order, So I
- 34:35Speaker 3: feel like sprayed edges can make that look more creative.
- 34:38Speaker 3: Plus I watched a lot of home improvement shows. That's
- 34:40Speaker 3: probably where I've seen it more is because they don't
- 34:43Speaker 3: want to give you They don't want to give books
- 34:46Speaker 3: the credit on screen and like pay like a copyright
- 34:50Speaker 3: or whatever, so they turn them around and stuff. And
- 34:54Speaker 3: I just find that funny, like sprayed edges, Like what
- 34:57Speaker 3: are you gonna do about that kind of thing?
- 35:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I again, I think that we started this conversation
- 35:07Speaker 2: with it being a little bit of a negative. We've
- 35:09Speaker 2: kind of talked ourselves out of it, but like you.
- 35:12Speaker 3: Were negative, I am okay with it.
- 35:15Speaker 2: Just and I think more so for our audience, I
- 35:18Speaker 2: think that you need to know that always remember that
- 35:26Speaker 2: these books will always be available at either not going
- 35:30Speaker 2: on hopefully your local libraries if you can't afford it,
- 35:35Speaker 2: but you can always support local business. If you have
- 35:39Speaker 2: a a bookstore that is local to your town or city,
- 35:46Speaker 2: go there before you go to Barnes and Noble, and
- 35:49Speaker 2: then go to Barnes and Noble before you go to Amazon,
- 35:52Speaker 2: because literally, Barnes and Noble is the only large retailer
- 35:58Speaker 2: that is keeping Amazon from solely taking over the book industry.
- 36:03Speaker 2: So just gonna put that out there. I just recently
- 36:11Speaker 2: pre ordered all of the rest of Phase three books
- 36:17Speaker 2: at a bookstore that like, I just looked it up
- 36:21Speaker 2: and I was like, oh, you know, I'll pre order
- 36:23Speaker 2: from here, local bookstore. I had no idea. It's literally
- 36:27Speaker 2: four minutes away. I could walk there, so I was like,
- 36:30Speaker 2: holy crap. And I paid for shipping, and I'm like,
- 36:34Speaker 2: oh no, I'm gonna call them and be like, I
- 36:37Speaker 2: could literally be in your front door in less than
- 36:40Speaker 2: five minutes. I don't want to pay for shipping. But yeah,
- 36:46Speaker 2: support local businesses and all of that great stuff with
- 36:51Speaker 2: these spraight edges, like Katie said, a lot of the stuff,
- 36:54Speaker 2: especially with Star Wars, it's gonna be overseas. It's gonna
- 36:58Speaker 2: be more think about your wallet before you think about
- 37:02Speaker 2: Star Wars, because you can get these books at the
- 37:07Speaker 2: quote unquote normal price range. It may not have the
- 37:12Speaker 2: spray edges, but just decide if it's worth it is
- 37:16Speaker 2: my thing is what.
- 37:17Speaker 3: I'm certain that if that's your thing, by all means,
- 37:21Speaker 3: let it be your thing. Yeah, there are worse habits
- 37:25Speaker 3: in the world.
- 37:27Speaker 2: That is the truth. That's all right. I always told
- 37:31Speaker 2: me about me buying all these books last weekend.
- 37:34Speaker 3: I always laugh at my mom because I was at
- 37:37Speaker 3: a friend's house and she was like, what are you doing?
- 37:40Speaker 3: Like why are you there? Why aren't you in your apartment?
- 37:43Speaker 3: When I was in college, and I was like, I'm
- 37:45Speaker 3: at a friend's house. I'm doing drugs and having an
- 37:48Speaker 3: orgy and do you know me? Like I am the
- 37:53Speaker 3: least person to do. And she was like, I cantinue
- 37:57Speaker 3: into rehab and I was like, I had a friend house,
- 38:00Speaker 3: I'm studying for an exam. We have tomorrow. Goodbye, Like
- 38:07Speaker 3: there are worse things that you could be doing that.
- 38:09Speaker 3: She never asked me where.
- 38:11Speaker 2: I was at again after that, but I told abby
- 38:16Speaker 2: the same thing. She's like, did you get in a food?
- 38:19Speaker 2: I was like, probably not. She's like, and and the
- 38:22Speaker 2: thing is I donate plasma and then I use that
- 38:26Speaker 2: money for donating plasma, either for lunch at work or
- 38:32Speaker 2: to buy video games. And now, because video games are
- 38:35Speaker 2: so damn expensive, I'm like, I'm gonna buy books. I'm
- 38:38Speaker 2: gonna get four books for the price of one video game.
- 38:41Speaker 2: So I think that's a better trade off than anything.
- 38:46Speaker 2: And I told you, now, you have.
- 38:48Speaker 3: To just have a rule where you don't buy a
- 38:51Speaker 3: new book until you finish one of the books that you.
- 38:55Speaker 2: Have, which is why I love the fact that I
- 38:59Speaker 2: found out what no vella's were. I had no idea
- 39:03Speaker 2: that that there was thinner, smaller books that I could
- 39:08Speaker 2: that are like fifteen to twenty dollars, and I'm like,
- 39:11Speaker 2: holy crap, I can finish these off and then buy
- 39:14Speaker 2: a new book. Now, that's that's the thing. So I
- 39:18Speaker 2: have the three Star Wars books, which were The Uh
- 39:25Speaker 2: Into the Light, Valiant, val Valiant Vow, and then Trials
- 39:31Speaker 2: of the Jedi. Those are the three that I pre ordered.
- 39:37Speaker 2: Cost me a total of seventy two dollars to pre
- 39:39Speaker 2: order those three books and then buying four books and
- 39:46Speaker 2: then having one being sent. So I told I technically
- 39:49Speaker 2: bought five books, so a total of eight books in
- 39:51Speaker 2: the last week. And I'm like okay, and I already
- 39:55Speaker 2: had Fourth Wing just sitting there and need to finish
- 40:00Speaker 2: Thrown Alliances. I need to finish Way of the Kings
- 40:06Speaker 2: from Brandon Sanderson. That one's gonna take me like five
- 40:10Speaker 2: years to finish. Uh. But the The Murder Bought Diaries
- 40:16Speaker 2: is a novella and I also saw that. Uh, I
- 40:22Speaker 2: guess because I use audible. I never purchased the like
- 40:28Speaker 2: actual audible like audiobook, but it like is letting me
- 40:32Speaker 2: listen to it for free. I don't know if like
- 40:33Speaker 2: why it's letting me which one it's Uh, it's The
- 40:39Speaker 2: Murder Bought Diaries. I think it's under like a different title.
- 40:43Speaker 3: Actually it's also.
- 40:46Speaker 2: Read is the actual title, but uh, it's letting me
- 40:51Speaker 2: listen into it for free, and it's three hours long.
- 40:53Speaker 2: So I'm like, I'll probably listen to that like over
- 40:56Speaker 2: the weekend.
- 40:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 40:58Speaker 2: Yeah, so I'm gonna get a lot of reading in
- 41:02Speaker 2: this year. But we did read something this week.
- 41:09Speaker 3: Well, first, we have the budget for the man.
- 41:14Speaker 2: Oh yeah, the news that Chris shared in our chat. Yes, yes, yes,
- 41:21Speaker 2: Mandalorian Grogu has a budget, has official budget. According to Collider, Kay,
- 41:27Speaker 2: do you want to share that with US one.
- 41:29Speaker 3: Hundred and sixty six million dollars.
- 41:35Speaker 2: With it, with the statement saying the cheapest Star Wars
- 41:38Speaker 2: film made since Revenge of the seth. Welp, how is it?
- 41:44Speaker 2: Wh that? Oh?
- 41:46Speaker 3: Well?
- 41:48Speaker 2: Wait are you? Hold on? Hold on? Was the Clone Wars?
- 41:59Speaker 3: They don't have the Clone Wars on this list. I
- 42:04Speaker 3: would bet they're not including that in their comparison because
- 42:09Speaker 3: I think Clone Wars the movie it was like eight
- 42:12Speaker 3: million dollars or something. We've talked about it really yeah,
- 42:23Speaker 3: or it might have made eight million dollars at the theaters.
- 42:28Speaker 3: Budget eight point five million dollars, box office sixty eight
- 42:31Speaker 3: point five million.
- 42:38Speaker 2: That is absolutely amazing.
- 42:42Speaker 3: Sorry I'm dying.
- 42:45Speaker 2: I'm sorry about that. Uh yeah, so budget eight point
- 42:49Speaker 2: five million dollars, So that's the cheapest.
- 42:53Speaker 3: Yeah. So they're just saying like live action movies in
- 42:58Speaker 3: this calculation, because you can, yeah, compare one hundred and
- 43:01Speaker 3: sixty six million dollars to eight point five million.
- 43:04Speaker 2: Like it's also I wonder what was the budget Attack
- 43:13Speaker 2: of the Clones.
- 43:18Speaker 3: Says Attack of the Clones one hundred and fifteen million.
- 43:22Speaker 2: There you go, one hundred and fifteen Yeah, still still
- 43:26Speaker 2: cheaper than what they're stating.
- 43:30Speaker 3: And that's and that's colliter adjusting to twenty twenty one dollars.
- 43:36Speaker 3: By the way, so they have adjusted for inflation.
- 43:40Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, So.
- 43:42Speaker 3: Like a New Hope released in nineteen seventy seven, production
- 43:46Speaker 3: budget was eleven million dollars, so like Revenge of the
- 43:53Speaker 3: Sith was one hundred and thirteen.
- 43:56Speaker 2: So okay.
- 43:59Speaker 3: They all received the California tax credit with this, so
- 44:03Speaker 3: the budget was a lot more, but they're just not
- 44:05Speaker 3: paying as much taxes on it because they got the
- 44:08Speaker 3: tax credit. So yeah, I'm excited to see what we
- 44:15Speaker 3: get of this. The panel for Mandalorian and Grow Goo
- 44:18Speaker 3: guys is ten to eleven a m on Friday, April eighteenth.
- 44:30Speaker 3: This schedule is not adjusted for It doesn't say what
- 44:38Speaker 3: if that. I'm assuming that Japanese time, like the time
- 44:42Speaker 3: zone of Japan, which what time is it in Oh look,
- 44:53Speaker 3: thanks Google for listening to me. It is eight fifty
- 44:57Speaker 3: am right now.
- 44:58Speaker 4: So yeah, and we're about to jump into our third ad, y'all.
- 45:06Speaker 4: We promise we'll be right back.
- 45:07Speaker 2: We promise. Oh God, we're gonna have to watch this
- 45:11Speaker 2: over the like in the middle of the night.
- 45:13Speaker 3: I'm not watching it live. I will watch Twitter the
- 45:17Speaker 3: next day and saved my butt.
- 45:22Speaker 2: I mean, and and that's and that's the other thing. Like,
- 45:25Speaker 2: there has been a lot of people in the community
- 45:30Speaker 2: that graciously will stay up to the wee hours of
- 45:36Speaker 2: the day or spend an entire day at some of
- 45:39Speaker 2: these conventions including Celebration and say hey, I'm gonna break
- 45:43Speaker 2: down this entire panel in these threads, and they do
- 45:48Speaker 2: the entire thing. So you guys are doing the Lord's work.
- 45:52Speaker 2: Thank you very much.
- 45:54Speaker 3: We appreciate your sacrifice.
- 45:56Speaker 2: Yes, of course, but yeah, yeah, uh the did we
- 46:03Speaker 2: already talk about the scheduling for.
- 46:06Speaker 3: No, we talked a lot about books, but we did
- 46:08Speaker 3: not have talked about the schedule.
- 46:09Speaker 2: Okay, okay, and.
- 46:11Speaker 3: You said this was going to be a short episode.
- 46:13Speaker 3: I know, so uh so big picture items off of
- 46:20Speaker 3: the schedule. So we have two publishing panels. On Friday,
- 46:25Speaker 3: we have LUCASILM publishing Mega Mania featuring all new announcements
- 46:31Speaker 3: and reveals, and then we also have Lucasfilm publishing The
- 46:36Speaker 3: Stories from a Galaxy Far Far Away. So that one
- 46:40Speaker 3: also says, join us in Japan for the latest publishing news.
- 46:44Speaker 3: The prequel trilogy to the sequel trilogy and beyond, including
- 46:47Speaker 3: news on the grand finale of the Higher Public with
- 46:51Speaker 3: Adam Christopher. Add up, what are you writing for us?
- 46:55Speaker 3: Tell us? Please? I'm so excited. Please come back to
- 46:59Speaker 3: Star Wars end of story. Uh. Tessa Gratton, Mark Gugenheim,
- 47:04Speaker 3: Lydia kang ethan Zach's Phil Sozak, Alyssa Wong, and Marvel's
- 47:09Speaker 3: Cebe Silbuski, which I believe that they are an artist
- 47:15Speaker 3: for Marvel Comics, so that that that's your panel right there.
- 47:23Speaker 3: I'm very excited for this one. Obviously. I can't wait
- 47:27Speaker 3: to not have to wait on those and just wake
- 47:29Speaker 3: up everything.
- 47:30Speaker 2: Sabowski is a writer, but more importantly because I was like,
- 47:36Speaker 2: that name sounds familiar. Why does that sound so familiar?
- 47:38Speaker 2: He's the editor in chief of Marvel Comics.
- 47:41Speaker 3: So oh, very impressive.
- 47:44Speaker 2: Yeah all right.
- 47:45Speaker 3: So also Friday, we have Lucasfilm Animation's twentieth anniversary with
- 47:52Speaker 3: Dave Filoni, Chief creative Officer and Nathena Portillo, Vice President
- 47:56Speaker 3: of Anime Production.
- 47:59Speaker 2: Uh.
- 48:00Speaker 3: And there will be a sneak peak at what's to come.
- 48:05Speaker 3: How much money is on a Clone Rebellion show.
- 48:08Speaker 2: So that's the thing. Everybody's freaking out about this sneak peek.
- 48:13Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh, what's it gonna be?
- 48:16Speaker 2: And a little bit of me believes that it's going
- 48:25Speaker 2: to be Clone Wars adjacent. So we got Clone Wars,
- 48:31Speaker 2: we had Rebels. I guess you can say we got Resistance.
- 48:38Speaker 2: I'm still watching season two. I still need to watch
- 48:40Speaker 2: season two. I enjoyed season one, but it just didn't
- 48:45Speaker 2: feel like it was a part of that same family.
- 48:56Speaker 2: I think quite possible believe either I'm gonna put my
- 49:04Speaker 2: money down either High Republic or it's going to be
- 49:16Speaker 2: within the Mando Verse timeline between Return of the Jedi
- 49:25Speaker 2: and for.
- 49:27Speaker 3: I could see that, and maybe doing like a mando
- 49:31Speaker 3: Verse era gives them an opportunity to tie that into
- 49:34Speaker 3: the air of the Empire movie. If that's still going
- 49:38Speaker 3: to be a thing, that could be a good process.
- 49:44Speaker 3: I know they said a sage is going to come
- 49:46Speaker 3: back into play. A massage was there in Bad Batch,
- 49:51Speaker 3: so I feel like whatever it's going to be is
- 49:55Speaker 3: going to include a sage.
- 49:59Speaker 2: You think it'll on Omega.
- 50:02Speaker 3: I don't think it's Omega. I think it's going to
- 50:04Speaker 3: focus in on the Clones. But Assage is going to
- 50:10Speaker 3: be roped in or it's going to be like a.
- 50:12Speaker 2: Path out legitly was just about to say, do you
- 50:15Speaker 2: think it'll be the Path? I think that would be
- 50:18Speaker 2: a very fun anthology. We've seen like the uh oh, shoot,
- 50:26Speaker 2: what is the Stories the animated anthology that we've been getting,
- 50:36Speaker 2: Tales of the Jedi, Tales of I think Tales of
- 50:40Speaker 2: the Path would be a perfect title.
- 50:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I could see that. Yeah, Okay. So Saturday we
- 50:52Speaker 3: have uh an and Or panel, and then we have
- 50:56Speaker 3: an Ahsoka panel. There's also going to be a panel
- 51:00Speaker 3: with Oscar Isaac celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Force Awakens,
- 51:07Speaker 3: and then Sunday, the biggest panel of the day really
- 51:12Speaker 3: is uh vision of First Look at Visions volume three,
- 51:19Speaker 3: So that's kind of your big highlights. The surprise to
- 51:24Speaker 3: me is they are doing a Revenge of the Fifth
- 51:29Speaker 3: twentieth anniversary return to theaters screening worldwide, and they don't
- 51:37Speaker 3: have a twentieth Anniversary or Revenge of the Fifth panel
- 51:40Speaker 3: on here. That's probably my only surprise out of this.
- 51:46Speaker 2: I hmm, I wonder if the only reason why, and
- 51:54Speaker 2: correct me if I'm wrong, is Hey, Hayden, a part
- 52:01Speaker 2: of the celebrity list.
- 52:06Speaker 3: I don't know. I didn't see anything specifically, because.
- 52:16Speaker 2: If I could see them saying, hey, if we can
- 52:21Speaker 2: get both Ian and Hayden to come back for this
- 52:29Speaker 2: screening and panel, we will make a panel. If they
- 52:33Speaker 2: can't make it, then we're not gonna put it on
- 52:35Speaker 2: the schedule.
- 52:37Speaker 3: Hayden Christiansen right there front and center, Oscar Isaac Grossario, Dawson,
- 52:42Speaker 3: I'm d Best, John Nole, Diangio, Luna, Sam whit Wer,
- 52:46Speaker 3: Matt's Michelson, Alan tudic Manny Just Sento Daniels, Logan, Anthony Daniels,
- 52:52Speaker 3: Timor Morrison, Doug Sheeng, Ashley Eckstein. That looks like the
- 52:57Speaker 3: biggest announcement so far. So Hayden is coming, but no
- 53:03Speaker 3: Ewan Vanessa Marshall is also coming, so uh, Ewan is
- 53:08Speaker 3: not currently scheduled to come. I think that hasn't been announced.
- 53:16Speaker 2: Yeah, they're getting kind of you know, it's it's it's
- 53:23Speaker 2: gonna happen soon. Like I I think, if there's any
- 53:26Speaker 2: more announcements, they need to make them pretty soon.
- 53:29Speaker 3: Well, and there might be some that aren't announced that
- 53:34Speaker 3: are going to be like special reveals and stuff like that.
- 53:39Speaker 3: At the soaka panel like Ewan might step out as like, hey,
- 53:43Speaker 3: I'm gonna make a cameo here kind of thing. Yeah,
- 53:47Speaker 3: So because like I think that's what Daisy Ridley was,
- 53:52Speaker 3: like she wasn't announced to come to celebration and then
- 53:56Speaker 3: for the movie announcement. So uh, it just kind of
- 54:01Speaker 3: all depends. I mean, we'll see yeah, very very too,
- 54:07Speaker 3: Qui gon.
- 54:09Speaker 2: Yes, our last topic of tonight will be Star Wars
- 54:14Speaker 2: Hyperforce stories quite hyper Space Star Wars Hyperspace stories.
- 54:22Speaker 3: You said hyper Force?
- 54:23Speaker 2: Did I say hyper Force? Jesus Christ hyper Space stories? Now, Katie,
- 54:34Speaker 2: do you remember what our predictions were for this book?
- 54:40Speaker 3: I don't remember what our predictions were this book because
- 54:44Speaker 3: it was announced. Oh like, are you talking about like
- 54:47Speaker 3: the look of it?
- 54:48Speaker 2: No, no, no, we we got the covers and because
- 54:53Speaker 2: it was this one, it was and grievous and I
- 55:01Speaker 2: believe Obi Wan I believe was the four of them. Yeah,
- 55:05Speaker 2: and we're like, okay, well, what are these hyper Space
- 55:09Speaker 2: stories gonna be? Like, what do you think it's going
- 55:12Speaker 2: to be? And it was going into that whole conversation
- 55:16Speaker 2: that we were having about how oh I think we're
- 55:19Speaker 2: going to take a deeper dive into the timeline between
- 55:24Speaker 2: The High Republic and the prequel trilogy yep, And we're like, oh,
- 55:34Speaker 2: that would be kind of cool. I think it would
- 55:36Speaker 2: be really cool if they were somehow able to bridge
- 55:39Speaker 2: the gap between High Republic and the prequels, so that
- 55:47Speaker 2: way there's a little bit more fluidity. And we're just
- 55:49Speaker 2: not going to completely ignore the fact that there is
- 55:53Speaker 2: like newly in our minds found information that is the
- 55:59Speaker 2: High Republic and what is this book about?
- 56:02Speaker 3: Sorry, I know this is completely off topic, but this
- 56:07Speaker 3: makes me so happy. Coyote versus ACME has been saved
- 56:12Speaker 3: and is going to be distributed by Ketchup Entertainment.
- 56:17Speaker 2: Oh yeah, okay, I'm sorry that you're not really in
- 56:21Speaker 2: the chat anymore. Uh. The GUA has already talked about this.
- 56:27Speaker 3: Oh I think we just shared it. I thought it was.
- 56:33Speaker 2: Oh okay, so it's been talked about all day as
- 56:36Speaker 2: far as like it's been in the news cycle all day.
- 56:39Speaker 2: Maybe it wasn't shared in the GUA.
- 56:41Speaker 3: But you know what, if Elon could get their shit together, because.
- 56:47Speaker 2: Like none of us have been getting notifications correctly.
- 56:51Speaker 3: Well, I can't log in on my phone anymore, Like
- 56:54Speaker 3: it's hit or missed like it says like, oh wow,
- 56:56Speaker 3: privacy blocked, like you would have to enable like privacy
- 57:03Speaker 3: tracking stuff, and I'm like, I'm not doing that. I'll
- 57:06Speaker 3: just stay off Twitter. So anyways, sorry, go ahead.
- 57:13Speaker 2: We predicted, we predicted what this story would be about.
- 57:19Speaker 3: Yep, you're right. I do remember that now.
- 57:21Speaker 2: And we did a damn good job at it, by
- 57:24Speaker 2: the way, yep, because that's exactly what this does. This
- 57:30Speaker 2: literally has Qui Gon and Obi Wan, but it also
- 57:39Speaker 2: has flashbacks.
- 57:40Speaker 3: From when the Count Do and Qui Gon.
- 57:43Speaker 2: To Count and Qui Gon, most notably when they were
- 57:48Speaker 2: on a mission in Jedna, yep and they encountered the.
- 58:00Speaker 3: I want to get the name right, Guardians of the Wills.
- 58:03Speaker 2: Guardians of the Wills, but also specifically.
- 58:07Speaker 3: They're artifact from the Brotherhood of the Ninth Door.
- 58:11Speaker 2: The Brotherhood of the Ninth Door is what is what
- 58:13Speaker 2: I was trying to find. Yes, so I really dug
- 58:18Speaker 2: this because there's also a small lesson that is learned.
- 58:25Speaker 2: So for me, I've said this more times that I
- 58:29Speaker 2: can even count on on both hands, not only on
- 58:33Speaker 2: this podcast, but on multiple podcasts. I despise non linear storyteller.
- 58:44Speaker 2: I despise it because in my brain, my brain thinks, hey,
- 58:50Speaker 2: if there is a timeline, it should follow the timeline.
- 58:53Speaker 2: The events of this should be before this, and that
- 58:57Speaker 2: should be before that.
- 58:59Speaker 3: I feel like they did the non linear storytelling here
- 59:02Speaker 3: very well.
- 59:03Speaker 2: And that's what I was gonna say with these flashbacks though.
- 59:07Speaker 2: It works very well in telling the story of how
- 59:12Speaker 2: Qui Gon has learned his lesson yep. And the really
- 59:19Speaker 2: big thing about that is we've always known Qui Gon
- 59:25Speaker 2: from of course, literally just in the Phantom Menace and
- 59:29Speaker 2: these small pockets of him storytelling in Clone Wars as well. Yeah,
- 59:39Speaker 2: in just random spots. But in these small moments, people
- 59:43Speaker 2: are like, oh, Qui Gon is the best Jedi in
- 59:46Speaker 2: the war, like in the entire galaxy and all of
- 59:48Speaker 2: Star Wars, She's like the best of the best. Blah
- 59:50Speaker 2: blah blah. It's like, Okay, wow, we don't really know
- 59:54Speaker 2: much about him. We there's some books out there as
- 59:58Speaker 2: well that also share a little bit information. We got
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: Tales of the Jedi that gave us more information, but
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: we're starting to see his character more and more, and
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: in here, I like the lesson he's learning because it
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: literally reflects the person that we see in Phantom Menace.
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: Yep.
- 1:00:21Speaker 4: And this should be our final ad break. So y'all
- 1:00:25Speaker 4: thanks for bearing with us. We appreciate y'all. We'll be
- 1:00:28Speaker 4: right back.
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: And I think that's what I enjoy more so because
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: this is literally a let's actually just turned the pages
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: and see a eighty six page graphic novel. It's not
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: very big. It's a very quick read in all honesty,
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: which by the way, I'm not a fan of the
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: designer of this book. Yeah, because they did not the
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: panel layout was not traditional. They treated every single page
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: like a double splash page, so the panels went from
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: left to right, yeah, on the entire spread of both pages.
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: Especially as somebody who doesn't read who is getting into comics,
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: I say getting into comics, but like as a new
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: reader to comics doesn't read them frequently, it was very
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: confusing and disorienting because I would be like, Okay, I'm
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: going down the page. Oh wait, that doesn't make sense,
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: go to the next page. It's like this, Yeah, And
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: that was the thing.
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: It was not consistent. There was sometimes where it was traditional,
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: you know, one page to the next, whereas in some
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: random spots where it wasn't even like a big action
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: scene or anything. It would go from left to right
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: on the entire two pages, and it hurt my brain
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: a little bit.
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: Didn't love that, especially as a scan reader. Sometimes like
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: I read through for the dialogue story elements, and I'm
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: briefly looking at the artwork, but I go back through
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: to look at the artwork afterwards, and I know that's
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: not how you're supposed to read comics. That's just how
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: my brain works, so to me, I know, But like,
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: especially when I'm like okay, like they're separate, it's not
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: crossing over. But then I go back and I find, oh,
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: there's this one panel that's like your key is like, hey,
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: this runs over into the next page.
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: Yep. Yeah, I was not a fan of it. But
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: what I did like is the fact that we own
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: see Qui Gon in Phantom Menace. The stories that we
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: do get need to reflect the character that we do know.
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: So learning this lesson here and then remembering who he
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: is as the Jedi Master of Phantom Menace totally makes
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: sense and it clicks.
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I would love to see George Mann write more
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: Qui Gon stories. I think he would be gone.
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: I would be told.
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: Very well, and I'd like to see like a book
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: I wouldn't want to see other comic because I also
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: really wasn't a fan of the artwork in those The
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: artwork didn't feel finished.
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: Me. Yeah, it was. Uh I'm looking at one page
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: right now. It was a bit muted in some places.
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: I didn't love the artwork either. I did feel like
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: the art did look rushed in the sense of it
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: being that like not completed look.
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: Which is wild because this is another one of those
- 1:04:12Speaker 3: things that this was announced a year and a half
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: ago and just kept getting delayed.
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: Yes, now I will say this, we now know the
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: reason why it was being delayed because of George Mann's incident.
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: So yep, we're not saying it's reasonable. Yeah.
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: One, I would have rather seen it delayed further and
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: gotten what I felt like was a more finished book.
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: I love the story. The artwork is the only thing
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: I feel like that's lacking here.
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: Yeah, And I also really love the fact that prior to.
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: This we.
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: Read no no uh uh uh oh, what's the other?
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: Qui gon uh qui gon and obi wan story Master
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: and Apprentice. We've read Master and Apprentice, We've read Padawan,
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: reading this knowing that, like it's it's adding on to
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: the story of Douku and Qui Gon going on their
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: own little small missions to like look for these like
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: special artifacts that that are are Like we know Douku
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: is looking for something a little bit more, whereas somebody,
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: uh like his persona of that being a Jedi in
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: the Council, is looking for artifacts for the Jedi to
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: keep safe. So like, I love that it touched on
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: that And how Qui Gonna learned this lesson of you know,
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: with this member of the Ninth Door uh cult, I
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: can't remember say it again, what was it?
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: The the Brotherhood of the Ninth Door.
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: Brotherhood of the Ninth Door. They were quote unquote dark
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: Side users, dark Side of the Force users, and there
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: was a lot of prejudice in this book for that,
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: and like Obi Wan was like, hey, if they use
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: the dark Side, we should stop them, Like we can't
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: do this, blah blah blah. And the lesson that I
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: keep referencing to that Obi Wan has or that Qui
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: Gon has learned, is just because he uses the dark
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: Side of the Force doesn't mean not mean he's a
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: bad person. Yeah, now I know that's widely controversial, widely,
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: but we had a character in this book literally prove
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: it to be true.
- 1:07:14Speaker 3: Minkotsu. I loved him.
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: I love the kind of like relationship that him and
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: Qui Gon like assumingly grew throughout this story and the
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: years that they've been bumping into each other.
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: Like.
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: I love the reveal of him at the very end,
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: being like eguay Gon has been a while, like what's up?
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: You know? So I love that. And I dug the story,
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: like you said, didn't really dig the art. I do
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: think George Mann has a very good grip on what
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: Star Wars is, who these characters are, the feelings that
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: we are supposed to get alongside these characters. I think
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: this was a great fit for him.
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: Yeah, one hundred. I'm kind of excited to see I
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: think just you know, Ireland's Mace Windy book is going
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: to be next. I'm kind of excited to see what
- 1:08:24Speaker 3: will come of that and continue on this Hey explore
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: a character deeper and tell us how they got to
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: who they are in the Phantom Menace. So yeah, pretty excited.
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: So Clay tell us where they can find you.
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: Yeah, of course you can always find me at Fanboy
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: Clay nowadays a little bit more on Instagram and Threads. Also, Katie,
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: this is gonna be hot take. I don't know if
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: you saw my my Threads post last night, but I
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: haven't even touched Fourth Wing. I'm kind of getting tired
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: of dragons.
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: No, you have to read Fourth Rae.
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: I'm going to read Fourth Wing. But I like fantasy
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: is my genre. I'm just gonna say this out into
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: the ethos people, there's more mythical creatures other than dragons.
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: Please write about them. I want to read something that
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: isn't just dragons because that's like the only thing people
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: are pushing at bookstores. Oh this one has dragons. Oh
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: this one has dragons. Oh this one has dragons. Hey, dragons, dragons, dragons, dragons.
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: It ah, like I want and I need something more
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: than just dragons. So uh, there's that. But uh, of course,
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: with my new adventure of buying all these books, I
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: am going to be getting into possibly posting a little
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: bit more about those. What my thoughts are on that.
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: I still have Blue Sky. It is very much still
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: a part of my job. So if you like comic books,
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: follow me on there. But yeah, Ranger Alliance, the other
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: show on the GUA took a hiatus from the new
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: show last week because the new show didn't have a
- 1:10:23Speaker 2: new episode last week. From time to time throughout the year,
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: they follow certain holidays and so they'll be like, Hey,
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: this is a holiday, we're not going to post a
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: new episode of anything. This is the time that you're
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: supposed to be spending with your family, blah blah blah.
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: So I think it's really cool we should have a
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: new episode coming out this upcoming Monday. And then there's
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: also news that Disney Plus is getting a Power Rangers series,
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: so be on the lookout for me and Jake talking
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: about that. So very very fun, Katie, what about you, y'all?
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: You can find me on the social media platforms. That

- 1:11:16Speaker 3: Probably a good thing.
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: So, but Katie, sanity I am.
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: I am. So once I get back to the social
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: media site, I promise, if you've sent me a message,
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: I will get back to you. Otherwise, just shoot Clay
- 1:11:34Speaker 3: a message and he'll tell me and I'll go check it.
- 1:11:38Speaker 3: That's what Nathan used to do to me, so now
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: you can do.
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: It for me.
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: Don't bug Clay like that. But y'all, next week, we
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: will be back here talking about Resistance Season one as
- 1:11:51Speaker 3: well as they're on alliances, So that's what you could
- 1:11:55Speaker 3: expect next week. With that, y'all, I want to wish
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: everyone akad day or night, whatever time that you're listening
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: or watching, and we will see you next time. It
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: forced to be with you
