- 0:00Speaker 1: Toby and Chili Mornings on Demand on ninety seven point one.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Why shut out in the Port.
- 0:06Speaker 3: Of Chiliamar this morning, Kat Harris is here. It's me
- 0:10Speaker 3: Toby Napp. Welcome to Toby and Chilly in the morning
- 0:12Speaker 3: on this day two of a snow events. Today is
- 0:15Speaker 3: kind of like the big cleanup day. So the kids
- 0:17Speaker 3: are feeling some joy this morning because they're not awake,
- 0:20Speaker 3: and teachers are probably feeling the same way KT because
- 0:23Speaker 3: they're not awake either.
- 0:25Speaker 4: Boy, can you blame them? I mean, this is this.
- 0:27Speaker 3: Is the dumbest sleep in absolutely it is. If only
- 0:31Speaker 3: we could get so lucky. But no, no, no, however,
- 0:35Speaker 3: I am feeling some joy this morning. Let me tell
- 0:37Speaker 3: you why because over the last couple of days, I've
- 0:40Speaker 3: worked on an experiment because you know, my knee is
- 0:42Speaker 3: like at fifteen percent mobility right now, and you know,
- 0:47Speaker 3: having an injured knee and the ice, they don't mix
- 0:50Speaker 3: so well. Ice and sleet and snow and a roll later.
- 0:54Speaker 3: So I took an uber to the hotel the other night,
- 0:58Speaker 3: crashed at the hotel and I called another uber to
- 1:02Speaker 3: literally take me around the block to our parking garage.
- 1:06Speaker 3: It was an experiment to see if they'd number one
- 1:09Speaker 3: take the ride number two? How I would, you know, do,
- 1:13Speaker 3: how I would do maneuvering out of a hotel and
- 1:15Speaker 3: all this stuff and it worked, kat I couldn't believe it.
- 1:19Speaker 3: I don't know how much it's cost. I don't even
- 1:21Speaker 3: want to look at the credit card bill. But you
- 1:22Speaker 3: know what, Hey, at least I made it to work
- 1:25Speaker 3: on time.
- 1:26Speaker 5: You seriously had an uber kick you up from the
- 1:31Speaker 5: hotel to take you to the radio station.
- 1:35Speaker 3: Do you know how hard it is for me to walk,
- 1:37Speaker 3: let alone to walk on on ice and snow and
- 1:41Speaker 3: stuff up angles and around things, and.
- 1:45Speaker 4: Yeah, yes, considering you've had a knee surgery.
- 1:49Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, you've got You've got your get out of
- 1:52Speaker 5: jail card on that one.
- 1:53Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:54Speaker 3: And it's about the only time I'll ever be able
- 1:55Speaker 3: to use it, because people right now are going, you're ridiculous.
- 1:58Speaker 3: So why are you feeling good this morning?
- 2:00Speaker 5: I am feeling great because yesterday my power went out.
- 2:04Speaker 4: And when your power goes out, you kind of have that.
- 2:07Speaker 4: I mean, it's an instant panic.
- 2:09Speaker 5: And I had invested years ago in this little battery pack.
- 2:13Speaker 5: I'm like, you know what, in case anything ever happens.
- 2:16Speaker 5: I want to have at least a couple hours to
- 2:18Speaker 5: charge stuff up. And you know what that thing was, clutch.
- 2:21Speaker 5: I am so glad I bought the battery pack back up.
- 2:25Speaker 3: It's the little things, especially when the weather has other
- 2:28Speaker 3: plans for your life. Eight sixty six ninety two, seven
- 2:31Speaker 3: forty three sixty when it's the number of talkbacks open,
- 2:33Speaker 3: tell us why you're feeling good today. We always love
- 2:37Speaker 3: hearing from you with Toby and Chilly in the morning
- 2:39Speaker 3: and on the way the news Toby and Tilly's top
- 2:42Speaker 3: stories at the top of the hour, hang out and
- 2:44Speaker 3: get your news update in minutes. Toby and Chilly in
- 2:48Speaker 3: the morning. It is ninety seven point one wash FM,
- 2:51Speaker 3: day two of us snow Day. Feel free to check
- 2:53Speaker 3: in with us and let us know how you're doing.
- 2:55Speaker 3: Tap the talk back microphone, send this quick voice note
- 2:57Speaker 3: everything good where you are? We hope so. And if
- 3:00Speaker 3: it's not going okay, then maybe you'll need this.
- 3:04Speaker 5: We need some positive words, words of inspiration.
- 3:07Speaker 4: Give it to us.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Toby. Your morning mindset today comes from JP Morgan. The
- 3:12Speaker 3: first step towards getting somewhere is to decide you're not
- 3:16Speaker 3: going to stay where you are. The first step towards
- 3:20Speaker 3: getting somewhere is to decide you're not going to stay
- 3:24Speaker 3: where you are, Jp Morgan. And this could be anything.
- 3:29Speaker 3: It could be what you're going through right now, what
- 3:31Speaker 3: the world's going through right now. It could be something personal,
- 3:35Speaker 3: something the family member, maybe a friend. A job. Change.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Does not start with a plan. It starts with a decision.
- 3:43Speaker 3: You've got time to plan later. But if you want
- 3:45Speaker 3: to make that first step towards getting somewhere right decide
- 3:50Speaker 3: you're not going to stay where you are. Make that
- 3:52Speaker 3: decision today, especially if this applies to you, and that's
- 3:56Speaker 3: your morning mindset for this Tuesday. And if you've got
- 3:59Speaker 3: some words that I've spoken to you, hit us up,
- 4:02Speaker 3: tell us what they are. We always love hearing from you.
- 4:05Speaker 3: With Toby and Chilly in the morning here at ninety
- 4:07Speaker 3: seven point one wash FM playing the part at Chili
- 4:09Speaker 3: You mar Kat Harris is in today and Kat's got
- 4:13Speaker 3: an ice hack for us. Some people say you should
- 4:16Speaker 3: do this, but Kat investigated it. In what she found
- 4:20Speaker 3: will teach us something. We'll learn something and oh, it's
- 4:23Speaker 3: so telling for what we're dealing with in the aftermath
- 4:27Speaker 3: of all of this weather in the DMV. You don't
- 4:30Speaker 3: want to miss this. Next Toby and Chilly in the morning,
- 4:33Speaker 3: it's Kat, Harris and Kat. Given the weather we've experienced
- 4:37Speaker 3: in the DMV over the last seventy two hours or so,
- 4:40Speaker 3: I understand you have an ice hack that we need
- 4:43Speaker 3: to all listen very closely to and then probably adopt.
- 4:48Speaker 3: What did you find?
- 4:49Speaker 7: So?
- 4:49Speaker 5: I was watching TikTok and I see people spraying hair
- 4:53Speaker 5: spray on the bottom of their shoe, and immediately I'm
- 4:55Speaker 5: thinking aquinet on the bottom of your shoe seriously, but
- 5:00Speaker 5: they're saying that it helps you from slipping on the ice.
- 5:04Speaker 5: Did some research, This, my friends, does not work.
- 5:10Speaker 3: So AquaNet on the bottom of the shoes is a farce.
- 5:13Speaker 3: Don't believe what you see on the TikTok.
- 5:15Speaker 4: You say instead, what experts recommend.
- 5:18Speaker 5: If you have to walk on icy surfaces, Walk like
- 5:22Speaker 5: a penguin. You know how a penguin kind of like
- 5:25Speaker 5: waddles a little bit with its feet like an opposite direction.
- 5:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm actually doing the steps right now. It's like
- 5:31Speaker 3: a weird, funky dance crash. The producer is looking at
- 5:34Speaker 3: me through through the camera like I'm on something. I
- 5:38Speaker 3: love it.
- 5:38Speaker 4: Because it's just it's cute.
- 5:40Speaker 5: But the other thing that you can do, Toby, is
- 5:44Speaker 5: you can take paper towels or gauze and wrap them
- 5:49Speaker 5: on the bottom of your feet using rubber bands.
- 5:53Speaker 4: So I started thinking about it.
- 5:55Speaker 5: I said, I bet you that would work with a
- 5:58Speaker 5: green brillowpad, which I am gonna try this afternoon.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Why wouldn't you just get some shoes that are like
- 6:04Speaker 3: boots with good traction.
- 6:05Speaker 5: Well, I mean it's not quite as fun as walking
- 6:08Speaker 5: around with a brillo pad and rubber bands on your feet.
- 6:11Speaker 3: Or waddling like a penguin. Yes, I get it, I understand.
- 6:15Speaker 3: Well stay safe, all right, people, stay safe. Get to
- 6:18Speaker 3: where you're going, however you choose to get there waddling
- 6:21Speaker 3: with brillo pads and paper towels and rubber bands or
- 6:25Speaker 3: boots boots. Who knew there are other ways? Well, thank
- 6:30Speaker 3: you for that ice hack this morning. They're Kati Harris.
- 6:33Speaker 3: Now stay with Toby and Chilly in the morning, because
- 6:35Speaker 3: coming up top stories at the top of the hour,
- 6:38Speaker 3: the news you need as we get this Tuesday started,
- 6:41Speaker 3: or as you begin to remote work on Tuesday, or
- 6:44Speaker 3: as you go back to sleep and hit snoos because
- 6:46Speaker 3: the kids have today off from school.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Traffic with Toby and Chili in the morning.
- 6:51Speaker 3: A little later on this morning, right around nine ten,
- 6:54Speaker 3: you've got to be listening to ninety seven point one
- 6:56Speaker 3: Wash FM with Toby and Chilly in the morning. Katie
- 6:59Speaker 3: Harris tell everyone why they should listen.
- 7:01Speaker 5: Because you will have an opportunity to get some money
- 7:05Speaker 5: to buy that vaca. Imagine your toes in the sand
- 7:07Speaker 5: drinking of margarita.
- 7:09Speaker 4: Do you want that money?
- 7:10Speaker 5: Thousand dollars work day Payday? Your next chance to win
- 7:13Speaker 5: with Jenny Chase.
- 7:14Speaker 4: Right after nine.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Ninety seven point one WASHFM, Washington, an iHeartRadio station, coming
- 7:21Speaker 1: up on Top Stories, Top of the Hour.
- 7:23Speaker 5: What do you need to know if you're going to
- 7:25Speaker 5: be driving in DC? I will tell you in minutes.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Top Stories, Top of the Hour.
- 7:32Speaker 5: Top Border Official Greg Bovino is leaving Minneapolis and returning
- 7:38Speaker 5: to his previous position at El Central, California. Bovino has
- 7:42Speaker 5: been serving as a Custom and Border Protection Commander at Large,
- 7:45Speaker 5: a position scene is temporary. Around three dozen people are
- 7:50Speaker 5: dead across multiple states after this weekend's massive winter storm.
- 7:55Speaker 5: According to Poweroutage dot US, hundreds of thousands of customers
- 8:00Speaker 5: mostly in the South are still without electricity after ice
- 8:03Speaker 5: and freezing rain took their toll on the power lines.
- 8:07Speaker 5: DC is extending its snow emergency for another day. DC
- 8:11Speaker 5: Emergency Management says that cruise are still working to remove
- 8:14Speaker 5: snow and ice from primary roads, with some of the
- 8:17Speaker 5: two way streets currently reduced to one lane traffic. Drivers
- 8:21Speaker 5: are not allowed to park along snow emergency routes until
- 8:25Speaker 5: the emergency ends. DC officials are encouraging drivers to stay
- 8:30Speaker 5: off the streets unless absolutely necessary. The Brandon Banfield murder
- 8:35Speaker 5: trial going to be delayed another day. Fairfax County government
- 8:39Speaker 5: facility is going to be closed for a second day
- 8:40Speaker 5: is clean up from the winter continues. Banfield is accused
- 8:45Speaker 5: of conspiring with his family's au pair to carry out
- 8:49Speaker 5: a plot to kill his wife and another man. Banfield
- 8:52Speaker 5: is expected to take the stand in his own defense
- 8:55Speaker 5: once the trial resumes. Not surprisingly, most men would prefer
- 9:01Speaker 5: to receive a gadget rather than candy or flowers from
- 9:04Speaker 5: their partners on Valentine's Day. Of the six hundred and
- 9:07Speaker 5: seven male and female respondents, sixty one percent of men
- 9:11Speaker 5: said that they wanted a tech gear gadget as their gift.
- 9:15Speaker 5: Of choice, and the poll also found that an increasing
- 9:18Speaker 5: number of women twenty three percent would rather receive a
- 9:22Speaker 5: tech item than bouquets or suits. On Valentines partly cloudy
- 9:27Speaker 5: with a high of twenty two today. Right now we
- 9:30Speaker 5: are at fourteen degrees in Arlington.
- 9:33Speaker 3: That's our producer Crash to join us for this conversation
- 9:36Speaker 3: Toby and Chilly in the morning Katie Harris playing the
- 9:39Speaker 3: part of CHILIAMR. Today it's ninety seven point one wash
- 9:41Speaker 3: CHEFM and of course we want to know what you
- 9:43Speaker 3: think about this at eight sixty six nine two, seven
- 9:45Speaker 3: forty three sixty one to tap to talk back microphone
- 9:48Speaker 3: if you're signed in this early morning on a snow day,
- 9:51Speaker 3: Part two more like an ice day listening to us
- 9:54Speaker 3: here at ninety seven point one wash CHEFN. The question
- 9:57Speaker 3: I have is kind of appropriate for the weather we've
- 9:59Speaker 3: been dealing with. Would you rather be stuck with your
- 10:03Speaker 3: ex or your boss during a snowstorm? Would you rather
- 10:10Speaker 3: be stuck with your X or a boss during the
- 10:14Speaker 3: snow storm? And I'll say it can be any X.
- 10:17Speaker 3: It doesn't have to be the immediate past X. Since
- 10:19Speaker 3: he's standing right here in front of me, We'll start
- 10:22Speaker 3: with you, our producer Crash. What say you, Well, I
- 10:26Speaker 3: was stuck with an X once during a snowstorm, and
- 10:29Speaker 3: it was just as miserable as you would think. Oh lord, uh,
- 10:33Speaker 3: boss or X.
- 10:34Speaker 4: There's no way either one of those is going to
- 10:36Speaker 4: end well.
- 10:37Speaker 3: You think, yeah, well, what if the boss takes the
- 10:41Speaker 3: you know, the TNE card down to the bar or something,
- 10:44Speaker 3: you know, while you're stuck snowed into a hotel or something.
- 10:47Speaker 3: I would go with the boss. Then all right, gotchat
- 10:50Speaker 3: of it. Yeah, but I like what he said. There's
- 10:52Speaker 3: no way either one of those would end well. Kat
- 10:55Speaker 3: Harris thoughts X or boss. Gosh that you know what
- 10:59Speaker 3: that's that that's really tough.
- 11:00Speaker 5: But I am one gonna say I'd rather be stuck
- 11:05Speaker 5: with the X for the pure reason that you see
- 11:10Speaker 5: your boss every day. I mean that that's who you
- 11:14Speaker 5: work with and that's where your money comes from.
- 11:16Speaker 4: Now your X.
- 11:17Speaker 5: This is pretty difficult because, like I said, I mean,
- 11:20Speaker 5: I would just be just fuming the whole time, going
- 11:22Speaker 5: do you remember back in the day when you did.
- 11:25Speaker 4: This, Oh, it'd be miserable.
- 11:27Speaker 3: You have to learn to let some of that stuff go. See,
- 11:30Speaker 3: I'm with you. On the X thing. I love my boss,
- 11:32Speaker 3: And by the way, Boss, if you're listening to this,
- 11:34Speaker 3: no offense. But you're the boss, and we have to
- 11:37Speaker 3: keep a line of separation between the workplace and whatever,
- 11:39Speaker 3: and well, you know, I would want the ex to
- 11:44Speaker 3: be one of the exes that I'm still friendly with.
- 11:47Speaker 3: And if I didn't get that lucky, it might be
- 11:49Speaker 3: tough and miserable, but I would make the best of it,
- 11:51Speaker 3: and I would suck it up. I wouldn't bring up
- 11:53Speaker 3: the past, but I would probably have a better time
- 11:56Speaker 3: being stuck with an X, provided we still got along.
- 12:00Speaker 3: And I'm sure my current significant other is probably going
- 12:02Speaker 3: to kill me for saying this, but I would choose
- 12:05Speaker 3: the X, and I would leave all the other entanglements
- 12:08Speaker 3: to just happen the way that they're supposed to happen.
- 12:11Speaker 3: So you've heard from us, Now what do you say,
- 12:15Speaker 3: X or your boss? Who do you want to be
- 12:17Speaker 3: stuck with? During a snowstorm eight sixty six, nineteen seven
- 12:20Speaker 3: forty three sixty one call us tap the talk back.
- 12:22Speaker 3: Mike can't wait to hear from you. Coming up as
- 12:25Speaker 3: Toby and Chili in the morning continues ninety seventy point one,
- 12:28Speaker 3: Wash FM, Toby and Chili in the morning. We've asked
- 12:31Speaker 3: our producer Crash to join us for this conversation and
- 12:34Speaker 3: we would love to know right now what you think.
- 12:36Speaker 3: What would you rather choose when it comes to the
- 12:38Speaker 3: snowstorm we just had. If you had to be stuck
- 12:42Speaker 3: in a snowstorm and you couldn't leave, and you had
- 12:45Speaker 3: to be stuck with somebody, would you want to be
- 12:46Speaker 3: stuck with an X or a boss? Katie and I
- 12:50Speaker 3: both said we would deal with the xes. Our producer Crash,
- 12:54Speaker 3: he said, no, it's none of it's going to end well,
- 12:58Speaker 3: but he'd probably rather take boss if the boss is
- 13:01Speaker 3: buying drinks the bar at the hotel. So what would
- 13:03Speaker 3: you choose? Tap the tug back microphone. It's wide open
- 13:06Speaker 3: if you're signed into your Iheard app and tell us
- 13:08Speaker 3: really quickly. You can leave us a voice note, or
- 13:10Speaker 3: you can call us at eight six six nine two
- 13:12Speaker 3: seven forty three sixty one like Emily did. Emily and Damascus,
- 13:17Speaker 3: good morning. So what's your choice?
- 13:19Speaker 8: I want have to say my ex because my boss
- 13:21Speaker 8: is gonna fire me.
- 13:22Speaker 5: I can so relate girl. I am with you one
- 13:26Speaker 5: hundred on that.
- 13:27Speaker 3: But why though I mean maybe maybe that's maybe that's
- 13:30Speaker 3: like the worst case scenario.
- 13:31Speaker 8: I feel like if they get to know me that
- 13:33Speaker 8: well and they see the things that I do whenever
- 13:36Speaker 8: I'm under stress outside of work, they'll be like, I
- 13:39Speaker 8: don't know that this person is who we thought they were,
- 13:43Speaker 8: And I think it would give them some questions like
- 13:45Speaker 8: about me, And it wouldn't even necessarily be work ethic.
- 13:48Speaker 8: I just think I would surprise them. They'd be so
- 13:50Speaker 8: weird it out.
- 13:50Speaker 3: They might be like, h I don't know about that, Kat,
- 13:54Speaker 3: what do you think?
- 13:55Speaker 5: One hundred percent? I agree there's there's a work you
- 13:58Speaker 5: and there's a home you and I. The two shall
- 14:01Speaker 5: not meet.
- 14:02Speaker 3: That's fair, Emily, thank you so much. Eight six, six, nine, two,
- 14:05Speaker 3: seven forty three sixty one is the number would you
- 14:08Speaker 3: rather be snowed in with your ex or a boss?
- 14:11Speaker 3: Good morning, Mikayla. Thank you so much for listening to
- 14:15Speaker 3: us in false Church.
- 14:16Speaker 8: Oh God, I think I would be stuck with my.
- 14:19Speaker 4: Boss your boss? Why? Like you're the second person that said.
- 14:22Speaker 8: That, because I like my boss right now and my
- 14:26Speaker 8: ex not so much.
- 14:27Speaker 3: Mickayla making a very valid point on that as well.
- 14:32Speaker 3: Thank you for jumping in over here, Richard, what's going
- 14:35Speaker 3: on over in Oxen Hill this morning? What do you think?
- 14:38Speaker 3: Who would you rather be stuck with your boss or
- 14:40Speaker 3: an ex?
- 14:41Speaker 6: I would probably want to be stuck with my boss
- 14:44Speaker 6: during a snowstorm, because then at least I have a
- 14:46Speaker 6: reason not to go into work and plug proof.
- 14:49Speaker 3: You know, will you have spoken DMV snowed in with
- 14:52Speaker 3: the boss beats out being snowed in with an X
- 14:55Speaker 3: and we can understand why on both sides. Toby and
- 14:59Speaker 3: Tilly in the morning, it is ninety seven point one

- 20:14Speaker 3: that you are just overseeing from the snow? What if
- 20:18Speaker 3: people posted it's caused you to feel some sort of way.
- 20:20Speaker 4: Well, there are two things.
- 20:21Speaker 5: One people posting eating the snow, going outside eating the snow.
- 20:25Speaker 4: The snow is nasty, Okay, there's a lot of RM
- 20:28Speaker 4: particles in it. I would not do it.
- 20:30Speaker 7: And number two, I do not understand why people are
- 20:33Speaker 7: putting on their bathing suits and going outside and either
- 20:38Speaker 7: dancing or making snow angels in their bikinis and then
- 20:41Speaker 7: posting it.
- 20:43Speaker 4: Seriously, I get cold and almost sick looking at it.
- 20:47Speaker 3: It's just why why, I can tell you why, but
- 20:51Speaker 3: I agree with you, it's kind of crazy. Why is
- 20:54Speaker 3: because guys look at that stuff. And the other reason
- 20:58Speaker 3: is because people will do anything anything to find validation
- 21:03Speaker 3: on social media. It seems, I mean like I'm over that.
- 21:06Speaker 3: I'm overseeing people trying to sled behind cars on the
- 21:10Speaker 3: ice on a street that's just not safe, you know.

- 21:18Speaker 3: like why? And you know what else? I'm tired of

- 21:45Speaker 3: I get it, But do you really have to post
- 21:47Speaker 3: it and rub it in? It's gonna get you muted
- 21:49Speaker 3: from my timeline.
- 21:50Speaker 4: Tell it like it is, Toby, because that is the truth.
- 21:53Speaker 3: This is my testimony on this Tuesday morning. But perhaps
- 21:57Speaker 3: maybe you've seen something on social media that you're just

- 22:03Speaker 3: the snow and it kind of rubbed you the wrong way.
