- 0:00Hey sis, let me ask you something real. Have you ever met a man who looked like
- 0:04everything you prayed for, but something in your spirit whispered, slow down, watch this?
- 0:11In today's episode, we're breaking down the top red flags women overlook when dating.
- 0:16Not because we're desperate, not because we're weak, but because we're hopeful.
- 0:33Hey sis, welcome to Girl Date the Good Guy podcast, the space where we strip
- 0:37away the noise and get real about toxic cycles, healing, and stepping into the love God has for us.
- 0:43I'm your host, Emily Jordan, and I've been where you are, heartbroken,
- 0:48confused, and chasing love that didn't come from God.
- 0:56Hey sis, welcome back to the show. I am so excited that you're here with me again.
- 1:02Welcome, welcome to Girl Date the Good Guy.
- 1:06Because why? You deserve the best. That's why. That's it. Period.
- 1:12There's nothing more to it. So today, this episode is all about helping you
- 1:17protect your heart while you pursue God's best.
- 1:20We're uncovering the signs that a man is not ready, not healthy,
- 1:24or not aligned with the relationship God wants to bless you with.
- 1:27These are the red flags we excuse, the ones we justify, the ones we pray into
- 1:33potential instead of recognizing the truth.
- 1:35Today, you'll hear the spiritual signs, the emotional signs,
- 1:39and the practical signs that the man you're dating may not be safe for your
- 1:44heart, even if he's charming, fine, and knows a scripture or two.
- 1:48By the end of this episode, you'll know what to look for, how to trust your
- 1:53discernment, and how to choose a man who loves with integrity, not just intention.
- 1:59Let me tell you a quick story. There was a time I met a man who checked every
- 2:03surface level box. He was charismatic, romantic, knew how to talk,
- 2:08but my spirit never settled.
- 2:10Every time he told a story, details didn't match.
- 2:14Every time I brought up accountability, he got defensive. and every time I shared
- 2:19something vulnerable, he dismissed it or redirected the conversation back to him.
- 2:25Yet there I was trying to believe the best, trying to be understanding.
- 2:31Trying to be the bigger person.
- 2:32But one night the Holy Spirit whispered, this is not confusion, this is revelation.
- 2:38Red flags you ignore become pain you live through. I wanna say it again.
- 2:44Red flags you ignore become pain you live through.
- 2:49Sis, that moment taught me a lot that I needed to know about discernment.
- 2:54And today, I want to teach you the same.
- 2:58So here are 10 flags to watch for when dating a man. Number one, he's inconsistent.
- 3:05Consistent communication, consistent behavior, consistent pursuit, they matter.
- 3:10If he's hot today and cold tomorrow, that's instability.
- 3:15Number two, he avoids accountability.
- 3:19He never apologizes. Everything is someone else's fault.
- 3:23He talks about his exes like they're villains. he plays the victim in every story.
- 3:30Number three, he moves too fast, too soon.
- 3:34Love bombing feels like a blessing until it becomes a strategy for control. I'm repeating that one.
- 3:42He moves too fast, too soon.
- 3:46Love bombing feels like a blessing until it becomes a strategy for control.
- 3:52Number four, He has no real community, no mentors, no brothers in Christ,
- 3:58no one who can correct him.
- 4:00A man with no accountability is a man with no growth.
- 4:04Number five, he doesn't respect boundaries. If you say slow down and he pushes,
- 4:10if you say I'm not comfortable and he dismisses, run.
- 4:14Run for the hills, sister. Run. up.
- 4:18Number six, he's emotionally unavailable, guarded, shut down,
- 4:24distant, acts deep, but can't go deep with you.
- 4:28Says a man who can't name his emotions can't nurture yours.
- 4:33Let me say that again. A man who can't name his emotions can't nurture yours.
- 4:40Number seven, he's spiritually performative. He knows scripture but doesn't live it.
- 4:46He says, God told me you're my wife after the first date.
- 4:50He uses spirituality as a tactic, not a lifestyle.
- 4:548. He has anger issues. Short temper, road rage, irritability.
- 5:02Even if it's not directed at you yet, it will be.
- 5:069. He talks but doesn't follow through. Bold promises, little action.
- 5:13Intentions are cute, but fruit is the truth.
- 5:1610. You don't feel safe. You feel anxious. You overthink.
- 5:21You walk on eggshells, your body and spirit keep warning you.
- 5:25And I'm talking about when you're around this person, okay?
- 5:30If you can't excel around him, he's not your person. He needs to be able to
- 5:36calm your nervous system.
- 5:38That's how I knew my guy was really healthy for me, is he could calm my nervous system.
- 5:45So here's your call to action, your homework. You ready?
- 5:48Tonight, I want you to sit down with a journal and answer these questions.
- 5:52Number one, which red flags have I ignored in past relationships?
- 5:57Number two, which ones am I ignoring right now?
- 6:01Number three, what part of me thought I had settled for less than peace?
- 6:07Number four, what boundaries do I need to reinforce moving forward?
- 6:13This is your season of clarity, sis. Your heart deserves truth.
- 6:19I love you. I want you to hear this. There is a man out there who won't make you beg for clarity.
- 6:26He won't confuse you. He won't drain you. He won't violate your peace.
- 6:32You don't have to fear missing out. You don't have to compromise to be chosen.
- 6:37And you don't have to ignore red flags to keep someone around.
- 6:42God's best will never require you to abandon yourself. All right?
- 6:48So let's get those standards up. Right?
- 6:52And let's get clarity so we can move forward into the man that God has for us.
- 7:00All right, sis, I love you so much. I will see you next week.
- 7:05Have a wonderful rest of the weekend. Talk soon.
- 7:08Thank you for tuning in to Girl Date the Good Guy. Until next time,
