Transcript
- 0:17Speaker 1: Welcome to jags Am. It's practice day seven. We're officially
- 0:20Speaker 1: in week two of Jaguars training camp at this point.
- 0:23Speaker 1: No fans in the house today, but a lot of
- 0:25Speaker 1: we're gonna get done and they're getting prepped for their
- 0:27Speaker 1: mock game that's gonna take place tomorrow. So we welcome
- 0:30Speaker 1: you into jags Am. Brought to you by Field Daughter Group.
- 0:32Speaker 1: I'm Pat Nanni Stevens, Brian Sexton and John Oser are
- 0:35Speaker 1: with me today. Let's get into our big things. We
- 0:37Speaker 1: got a whole week to recap for you.
- 0:39Speaker 2: They're brought to you by g eh A Government Employees
- 0:41Speaker 2: Health Association.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Big thing number one is the pads went on on Monday,
- 0:45Speaker 1: and Jacobe Myers talked a little bit about his philosophy
- 0:48Speaker 1: for the offense.
- 0:48Speaker 2: When the pads go on, Well.
- 0:50Speaker 3: I'm gonna just tell to God the aggressive first, and
- 0:53Speaker 3: then if you got to pull it back, it's easy
- 0:54Speaker 3: to go backwards and then try to go out there
- 0:56Speaker 3: fill it out. If you're hitting your mouth and now
- 0:58Speaker 3: you think you about to go hit somebody's work like that,
- 1:01Speaker 3: be aggressive first and let them pull you back.
- 1:04Speaker 1: So pads went on on Monday, and I think day
- 1:05Speaker 1: one fair to say, the offense looked a little bit
- 1:07Speaker 1: better than the defense. Normally it's the opposite. But that's
- 1:10Speaker 1: a good philosophy to have. You never want to go
- 1:12Speaker 1: in halfing it. You want to go full one hundred
- 1:14Speaker 1: percent and then pull back.
- 1:15Speaker 4: If you hack to one hundred percent. You rather deliver
- 1:18Speaker 4: the blow than have the blow delivered to you. And
- 1:20Speaker 4: the first place that I went and I was really
- 1:23Speaker 4: gratified to see that Liam Cohen put the pass rush
- 1:26Speaker 4: party down in front of the fans. Right you had
- 1:29Speaker 4: the offensive line against the defensive line. And that's to me,
- 1:32Speaker 4: that's always the most fun part of training camp. Because
- 1:35Speaker 4: we've talked all through the offseason John about waiting till
- 1:38Speaker 4: the pads come on to be able to evaluate the
- 1:40Speaker 4: big guys.
- 1:41Speaker 5: And of course we had a story.
- 1:42Speaker 4: Immediately with Anton Harrison and how well he has transitioned
- 1:46Speaker 4: from the right side to the left side. And listen,
- 1:50Speaker 4: I think that's permanent. They're not necessarily going to say
- 1:52Speaker 4: that now, but it's contract here for Anton. He's motivated.
- 1:55Speaker 4: He told me walking off the field after the first
- 1:58Speaker 4: day in pads he liked it. He enjoys being back
- 2:00Speaker 4: on the left side, and it's a big move for
- 2:02Speaker 4: the Jacks.
- 2:03Speaker 5: Yeah. I didn't have a chance to talk to Jacoby
- 2:05Speaker 5: after he spoke, but it sounds like at some point
- 2:07Speaker 5: he got knocked on his butt.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Real quick.
- 2:10Speaker 5: And so absolutely one of the sort of percolating stories
- 2:17Speaker 5: of training campus, which you just talked about Anton Harrison,
- 2:20Speaker 5: it feels like they've been sort of having that move
- 2:25Speaker 5: on the back burner for some period of time with
- 2:29Speaker 5: Van Lannon out. This time, it sounds like they just
- 2:31Speaker 5: kind of said, hey, see how you like it, See
- 2:33Speaker 5: if it's okay, we'll see what it's And now all
- 2:35Speaker 5: of a sudden, you're, what four or five days into it.
- 2:37Speaker 5: I'm with you. I can't guarantee that he's over there
- 2:41Speaker 5: full time, but if he's your best, most talented tackle,
- 2:46Speaker 5: if he likes it there, if it's starting to happen,
- 2:49Speaker 5: so much has happened since this regime has gotten here
- 2:51Speaker 5: organically where it just feels right, all of a sudden,
- 2:54Speaker 5: the move with Anton Harrison the left, somehow it feels
- 2:59Speaker 5: like it's happened organically, and maybe that sticks.
- 3:01Speaker 4: One other guy that stood out Kai and I'm sure
- 3:03Speaker 4: you saw him too, and it's a story because last
- 3:06Speaker 4: year at this time he wasn't on the field Eric Armstead.
- 3:08Speaker 5: Really that first day of pass rush party.
- 3:10Speaker 4: He dominated and it was good to see because he's
- 3:12Speaker 4: a twelve year guy and he's going to be important
- 3:14Speaker 4: for them to get pushed in the pocket. So immediately
- 3:17Speaker 4: with the pads coming on, practice got a lot more interesting.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Yeah, seeing him healthy is also key as well. Our
- 3:21Speaker 2: second big thing is going to be bounced back.
- 3:23Speaker 1: When we talk about day two of pads, that was
- 3:26Speaker 1: certainly a dominant defensive day, and coach Campanelli said he
- 3:29Speaker 1: likes to be honest with his players more than gassing
- 3:32Speaker 1: him up too much.
- 3:34Speaker 6: I just believe in being honest. And you know, even
- 3:36Speaker 6: what anybody perceives is a great day as an all
- 3:38Speaker 6: sunshine of rainbows. You know, you got to tell the
- 3:40Speaker 6: truth and you got to see around corners and see
- 3:42Speaker 6: what the problems lying ahead are. You know, it might
- 3:45Speaker 6: not get you here, but my college coach, coach Ciano's
- 3:48Speaker 6: told about that all the time. You'll get to you
- 3:49Speaker 6: when he gets you, and you got to be on that.
- 3:52Speaker 6: And I think that's a huge part of coaching. So
- 3:55Speaker 6: never as good as you think it is, never as
- 3:57Speaker 6: bad as you think it is. But you gotta be honest.
- 3:58Speaker 6: It's the only way for anything to get better. If
- 4:00Speaker 6: so way anything approves.
- 4:02Speaker 1: There's a little bit of a dose of reality John
- 4:04Speaker 1: from camp, and he keeps it real, of course. But
- 4:06Speaker 1: day two defense looks amazing. Jarion Jones is out there
- 4:10Speaker 1: flying around Eric Murray. The DB's not uncommon to see
- 4:13Speaker 1: early on in training camp, but kind of good to
- 4:15Speaker 1: see it go back and forth because.
- 4:16Speaker 2: That means, you know, you're not totally one sided.
- 4:19Speaker 5: Yeah, I laughed because I got a question from somebody
- 4:22Speaker 5: after the was that Tuesday when the defense looks so good,
- 4:27Speaker 5: are you worried about the offense?
- 4:29Speaker 2: Well?
- 4:30Speaker 5: I saw the offense for ten games at the end
- 4:32Speaker 5: of last season look like one of the best in
- 4:34Speaker 5: the NFL. I saw it for the first four or
- 4:37Speaker 5: five days of practice looked like one of the best
- 4:38Speaker 5: in the NFL. And so they had one bad day. So, uh,
- 4:42Speaker 5: that's the world we live in, Brian.
- 4:44Speaker 4: You know, I've been talking to a lot of the
- 4:47Speaker 4: ticketing folks that are the prospects who were here before
- 4:50Speaker 4: the day begins, and I always challenged them, Hey, where's
- 4:53Speaker 4: the weak spot on the roster?
- 4:54Speaker 5: Right?
- 4:55Speaker 4: You guys, tell me where you see a spot that
- 4:57Speaker 4: you're worried about, and nobody really up with one. I
- 5:01Speaker 4: mean they talk about the running back because Travis is
- 5:03Speaker 4: not here, and the linebackers. But the fact of the
- 5:06Speaker 4: matter is, on any given day, you're going to find
- 5:08Speaker 4: a spot where you're like, whoa, you know what was that?
- 5:11Speaker 4: And as you said back and forth, Kai, we have
- 5:13Speaker 4: seen a bad day for the quarterback turn into a
- 5:17Speaker 4: good day the next day. We've seen things where the
- 5:20Speaker 4: offensive line or the defensive line has rebounded. And that's
- 5:23Speaker 4: what training camp is all about. It's about figuring out
- 5:25Speaker 4: that rhythm and building the consistency. If you ever have
- 5:29Speaker 4: a perfect practice, please let me know. Thirty three years
- 5:31Speaker 4: of doing this, I've never seen one.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:33Speaker 5: You also don't want it to be perfect offensively every
- 5:38Speaker 5: day because this is practice, meaning you want to practice
- 5:43Speaker 5: things that maybe you're not as good at. You want
- 5:45Speaker 5: to throw situations at them that they're not ready for.
- 5:49Speaker 5: If if he's going twenty five for twenty five every day,
- 5:52Speaker 5: then you wonder are you testing things to see if
- 5:56Speaker 5: they're going to work. So, look, it was not a
- 6:01Speaker 5: great practice Tuesday. I don't know if you guys remember
- 6:03Speaker 5: or not last year's mock game was Yeah, I mean
- 6:07Speaker 5: a mess it and it it was panic at the
- 6:11Speaker 5: gates after that. Oh, they're gonna be awful, They're gonna
- 6:13Speaker 5: be This is a long process and one practice. It's
- 6:17Speaker 5: good for the defense, that's okay. That's okay, and I
- 6:20Speaker 5: think it bears mentioned. At least from my point of view.
- 6:22Speaker 5: I didn't feel like Trevor's making mistakes or there was
- 6:24Speaker 5: a lot of error. It was like some of the
- 6:26Speaker 5: defensive plays were very impressive. So I feel like you
- 6:29Speaker 5: have to give credit where credit is due there. It's
- 6:31Speaker 5: not always a mistake by somebody. Sometimes it's another person
- 6:33Speaker 5: playing really well or Trevor delivering it to the perfect spot.
- 6:36Speaker 5: You can't defend it. So it's a little bit of
- 6:37Speaker 5: both there. Somebody's got to win, kay, you know what happens,
- 6:39Speaker 5: then somebody's gotta some.
- 6:40Speaker 2: One's gotta lose.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Our final big thing today is gonna be the mock game.
- 6:44Speaker 1: We mentioned it last year was very telling. They had
- 6:46Speaker 1: some troubles getting going, penalties issues. So what they're gonna
- 6:49Speaker 1: do is basically have a scrimmage out here at practice,
- 6:51Speaker 1: and fans are invited, so sign up and come out
- 6:53Speaker 1: if you can tomorrow and they set it up like
- 6:56Speaker 1: a game, and they really run it that way.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Timeouts all that and try.
- 7:00Speaker 1: To get the most out of it because obviously these
- 7:02Speaker 1: guys have been in the building for quite some time
- 7:04Speaker 1: working out OTA's offseason program, but there is something to
- 7:08Speaker 1: actually play a game, dealing with it as it comes along,
- 7:10Speaker 1: and seeing how they deal with those situations.
- 7:13Speaker 5: Yeah, and I think not every fan follows it the
- 7:18Speaker 5: way we do, Brian. Not every team anymore does something
- 7:23Speaker 5: like this. Sometimes you'll see on the schedule mock game
- 7:27Speaker 5: and then you go out and it's barely recognizable. There's
- 7:31Speaker 5: really no game format to it. Liam does it much
- 7:34Speaker 5: more old school in that sense. Again, part of it
- 7:39Speaker 5: obviously they get a lot out of it, and he
- 7:41Speaker 5: also likes to give the fans something from time to
- 7:44Speaker 5: time when they're out here. So it's another example of
- 7:47Speaker 5: his franchise trying to do things that way.
- 7:49Speaker 4: And they also they prepare for everything right, And you've
- 7:52Speaker 4: got a lot of guys who are here who don't
- 7:54Speaker 4: know how it works on the sidelines. They don't understand
- 7:57Speaker 4: the process that the coach goes through on the sideline,
- 8:00Speaker 4: and he wants them to be up to speed so
- 8:04Speaker 4: that next week in New Orleans. It doesn't appear new
- 8:07Speaker 4: to them. The scenarios they go through, not just on
- 8:11Speaker 4: the field, but on the sidelines are important for them
- 8:14Speaker 4: to be a cohesive team. We both have seen times
- 8:17Speaker 4: where the Jaguars in their history have not looked all
- 8:19Speaker 4: that cohesive on the sidelines.
- 8:21Speaker 5: I've never seen that.
- 8:21Speaker 4: Yeah, this team is not going to have that problem.
- 8:25Speaker 1: I do want to mention as well, you don't read
- 8:27Speaker 1: entirely into what the lineups look like in these practices,
- 8:29Speaker 1: but offensive lines specifically, we've seen Anton move to left tackle,
- 8:34Speaker 1: so this could give us a little bit of a
- 8:35Speaker 1: preview what they might be working out on offensive line
- 8:38Speaker 1: and what they want to do there well.
- 8:40Speaker 4: And so you're not gonna have Cole van land and
- 8:41Speaker 4: at least in the preseason. And where does the right
- 8:44Speaker 4: tackle position land? Then? I mean you mentioned Cole and
- 8:47Speaker 4: he feels comfortable on the right Walker Little's had a
- 8:49Speaker 4: pretty good camp on the right side. We've seen Tchuma
- 8:51Speaker 4: Adoga over there on the right side as well. You know,
- 8:55Speaker 4: the offensive line is a really great story because there
- 8:58Speaker 4: are a lot of answers for questions that you have.
- 9:01Speaker 4: If Patrick mccary's back doesn't allow him to play. Here's why.
- 9:04Speaker 4: At milam right, we've seen Jodan Manheim have a really
- 9:07Speaker 4: strong camp with Robert Hainsey as the established starter. He's
- 9:10Speaker 4: pushing there and Walker Little has worked at both guard
- 9:14Speaker 4: spots at various times throughout camp as well.
- 9:16Speaker 5: Yeah, I keep on getting emails better. They're going to
- 9:18Speaker 5: trade Walker a little, walk a little this wooh that
- 9:21Speaker 5: you need seven or eight good offensive linemen in the
- 9:25Speaker 5: NFL to get through the season.
- 9:26Speaker 4: And he's a versatile guy. He can do a lot
- 9:28Speaker 4: of different things, a lot of starts in this league,
- 9:30Speaker 4: and he's working at a pretty reasonable number about fifteen million.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't think we're at a point where we're
- 9:34Speaker 1: trading anybody right now. Just got to figure out what
- 9:36Speaker 1: that starting five is gonna look like come September. But
- 9:38Speaker 1: say with this here on jag Zamory to talk about
- 9:40Speaker 1: some of our players of the week that we saw
- 9:42Speaker 1: show out and also break down some of the defense
- 9:57Speaker 1: at Overtonsfields Auto dot Com.
- 10:01Speaker 7: Absolutely, I mean he's I told him yesterday, he's a
- 10:03Speaker 7: beast man going back and forth. You've got you got
- 10:05Speaker 7: camp two times, man, you gotta do you got to
- 10:07Speaker 7: do it as a receiver, in a corner and I
- 10:09Speaker 7: think he's he's he's handled it really well.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Man.
- 10:12Speaker 7: I haven't seen it going you know, full time on
- 10:15Speaker 7: both sides, and I think he's doing an excellent job
- 10:17Speaker 7: of it. He's taking the coaching on defense, you know,
- 10:20Speaker 7: the techniques. I mean, it's it's definitely, you know, different
- 10:23Speaker 7: than last year. It's very technical as far as you know,
- 10:26Speaker 7: corner play, and I think he's doing a really good
- 10:28Speaker 7: job of it, and you know, taking in his stride
- 10:29Speaker 7: and of course we all know he's the exceptional athlete
- 10:32Speaker 7: that he is, just you know, his mind, you know,
- 10:35Speaker 7: it impresses me.
- 10:37Speaker 2: It's a veteran cornerback.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Jordan Lewis talking there about Travis Hunter, of course, and
- 10:42Speaker 1: some made mention.
- 10:43Speaker 2: We've talked about this already.
- 10:44Speaker 1: He's put on about ten pounds of muscle, and as
- 10:46Speaker 1: Jordan liked to put it, it is true. He's got
- 10:48Speaker 1: two training camps because he's doing offense and defense. He
- 10:50Speaker 1: never really gets a break, doesn't want one. But it's
- 10:53Speaker 1: been impressive to see. And last Sunday he really showed out.
- 10:56Speaker 1: That was an impressive day for fans and attendance for
- 10:59Speaker 1: us as the media, where he really showed off his
- 11:01Speaker 1: skill set.
- 11:02Speaker 2: It's funny.
- 11:03Speaker 4: It's only knows. It's all he's done. And it's a
- 11:06Speaker 4: question he gets at every news conference that he does.
- 11:09Speaker 4: John And on Friday again the questions come and you
- 11:12Speaker 4: could kind of see him remis a little bit and
- 11:15Speaker 4: he smiled through it. But then he goes out on
- 11:17Speaker 4: Sunday and answered the question with, oh, here's a touchdown,
- 11:20Speaker 4: Oh here's the interception. Oh here's another touchdown. It was
- 11:23Speaker 4: probably his best day as a Jaguar on the practice field.
- 11:27Speaker 5: Yeah. And look, I don't know how national, local media
- 11:32Speaker 5: whatever is going to judge him. They'll probably fall into
- 11:36Speaker 5: stats because that's easy thing to do. You saw the
- 11:39Speaker 5: other day the interception, the two long passes. To me,
- 11:46Speaker 5: if he does that enough to make the other team
- 11:50Speaker 5: scared of him, and does it four or five times
- 11:53Speaker 5: with impact, then he has a huge impact on offense.
- 11:57Speaker 5: I would just be surprised if he doesn't matter a lot.
- 12:01Speaker 5: And what's the number? Right Like, if you told me
- 12:05Speaker 5: right now, if you've pointed a player and said he's
- 12:07Speaker 5: going to make a difference in winning two games this year,
- 12:10Speaker 5: I'd say that's guy's a really important player. Yeah, And
- 12:13Speaker 5: I think with Travis, people are going to look and say, oh, well,
- 12:15Speaker 5: he only won you two games because there's such there's
- 12:18Speaker 5: this high bar and he's under such scrutiny. I think
- 12:23Speaker 5: he's going to matter a lot this year, and everything
- 12:26Speaker 5: here inside the building is they think he is going
- 12:29Speaker 5: to have a major impact both sides of the ball.
- 12:31Speaker 4: Felt that way on Stide. I felt like he was
- 12:33Speaker 4: Superman that day. He could do anything he wanted.
- 12:36Speaker 1: The defensive back group is an interesting one. We've talked
- 12:38Speaker 1: about it a little bit, but there's so much competition there.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Caleb Bransaw, who we hadn't seen all of last year
- 12:43Speaker 1: because he got hurt in training camp, has also looked impressive.
- 12:45Speaker 1: And then specifically Jarre and Jones last Tuesday had a
- 12:49Speaker 1: really good day out there. So the competition in that room,
- 12:53Speaker 1: to me, I couldn't tell you the starters right now.
- 12:56Speaker 4: And it's like the wide receiver room. You talk about
- 12:58Speaker 4: having those guys at the top, and now you had
- 13:00Speaker 4: Travis Hunter back in the secondary. You've had Antonio Johnson
- 13:04Speaker 4: who had a big pick the other day, and you
- 13:05Speaker 4: mentioned Jarian and Jordan Lewis is back and now you
- 13:08Speaker 4: have Travis Hunter back into the mix. He makes two
- 13:10Speaker 4: rooms better. That group in particular has had a really
- 13:14Speaker 4: strong start to camp.
- 13:15Speaker 5: And I think the guy that, it seems from the questions,
- 13:18Speaker 5: I get that people have sort of forgotten somehow that
- 13:22Speaker 5: Jordan Lewis plays with his team because he was out
- 13:24Speaker 5: late last year in a couple of ins. He's still
- 13:28Speaker 5: the guy that they look at as the glue back
- 13:32Speaker 5: there who gets everybody in the right position. It's not
- 13:35Speaker 5: like the other guys are running around their heads cut off,
- 13:37Speaker 5: but he is the veteran. Him being back healthy should
- 13:45Speaker 5: negate some of the errors that happened late last season.
- 13:47Speaker 4: The name that we haven't said yet is the guy
- 13:49Speaker 4: they paid in the off season, mon Terrek Brown.
- 13:51Speaker 2: Right.
- 13:51Speaker 4: I mean, so they've got a lot of again answers
- 13:53Speaker 4: to potential questions in the secondary.
- 13:55Speaker 5: And the thought is their secondary out of all the
- 13:57Speaker 5: position groups that may be where they're significantly and noticeably
- 14:02Speaker 5: better early.
- 14:04Speaker 1: One position group I wanted to mention because we haven't
- 14:05Speaker 1: talked a ton about it linebackers. Obviously, Devin Lloyd leaving
- 14:08Speaker 1: in the offseason still got Foya Luik out there, but
- 14:11Speaker 1: Branson Combs has kind of showed out a little bit.
- 14:14Speaker 1: John who have you seen in that group that's impressed
- 14:16Speaker 1: you a little bit through the first month.
- 14:18Speaker 2: A week, I should.
- 14:19Speaker 5: Say, well, Foyer is always impressed. I mean, I got
- 14:21Speaker 5: a question from somebody this week. Do you think they
- 14:23Speaker 5: would try to get Foyle off the field in certain spots?
- 14:25Speaker 5: And I said, well, they might try, but it's hard
- 14:27Speaker 5: because he's so smart. Every time you try to get
- 14:30Speaker 5: him off the field. For Rest, you want him on
- 14:32Speaker 5: the field because he's the guy who keeps everything in order.
- 14:36Speaker 5: I think Branson Combs may be the guy that if
- 14:40Speaker 5: you're not really paying close attention, you don't grasp how
- 14:43Speaker 5: good he is in coverage. There's a lot of angst
- 14:46Speaker 5: because you're without Devin Lloyd and Devin Lowy is a
- 14:48Speaker 5: great interception guy. They get better in coverage with Branson
- 14:54Speaker 5: Combs on the field compared to last year. And I
- 14:57Speaker 5: think Ryan you may see heavy passing situation, Branson Combs,
- 15:02Speaker 5: heavy running situation. Ventro Meller well.
- 15:04Speaker 4: And I think you'll see a combination of the two
- 15:07Speaker 4: and you could into the future have those two guys
- 15:09Speaker 4: as the anchor inside because Foye is not going to
- 15:11Speaker 4: play forever. I'll give you a name of a guy
- 15:14Speaker 4: and that's Rashan McLeod, who we didn't see last year.
- 15:16Speaker 4: Was a draft pick out of Auburn, and you haven't
- 15:19Speaker 4: seen a ton of him, but when he's on the field,
- 15:23Speaker 4: his athleticism, his size, he's in the guard deck role, right,
- 15:27Speaker 4: I mean, that's the position that he's going to play
- 15:28Speaker 4: as Jayala mcconne as a pass rusher, strong guy. Didn't
- 15:34Speaker 4: see him at all last year, and yet every time
- 15:36Speaker 4: he's out there, he wears thirty five. He flashes with
- 15:38Speaker 4: his athleticism. So they've got some answers to those questions too.
- 15:42Speaker 2: We'll talk a.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Little bit about the pass rush when we come back
- 15:44Speaker 1: after the break, but we do want to mention that
- 15:46Speaker 1: the practice is open to fans tomorrow and it's going
- 15:48Speaker 1: to be the mock game as well, so you can

- 16:21Speaker 2: Please God, welcome back into jags am.
- 16:28Speaker 1: Lots of questions now that training camp has begun. John
- 16:32Speaker 1: does his best to answer them with all the wisdom
- 16:35Speaker 1: and experience.
- 16:37Speaker 2: And knowledge that's up there in your nugget.
- 16:41Speaker 1: So Tim Tim from Fort Wayne, Indiana, asks John, based
- 16:46Speaker 1: on what you've seen so far, which four lineman would
- 16:49Speaker 1: you put on the field to rush the passer on
- 16:51Speaker 1: a third in lawn Long. It seems like Josh Henin's allan,
- 16:54Speaker 1: Trayvon Walker, Ruca Rowroro and bj Green might be mighty
- 16:57Speaker 1: tough to stop. But am I over looking a better combination?
- 17:01Speaker 5: Well? I think as long as Josh and Trayvon are
- 17:06Speaker 5: on there looking at some of the other sort of
- 17:09Speaker 5: interchangeable I think, and what you'll see. Ideally you would
- 17:15Speaker 5: like Eric Armstead to be playing like Eric Armstead and
- 17:18Speaker 5: be there in the middle. So I think those three
- 17:22Speaker 5: would be the key to MEDJ Green's look very good.
- 17:25Speaker 5: It's it's been practiced. I don't know that he's automatically
- 17:29Speaker 5: your fourth yet. Uh, don't overlook gard Deck in that
- 17:33Speaker 5: he's a guy that people don't think a lot about.
- 17:36Speaker 5: He gives them a lot of versatility and he'll be
- 17:38Speaker 5: on the field a lot in passing situations. But Ruke
- 17:41Speaker 5: is intriguing. I'm not I'm not going to try to say.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Right.
- 17:46Speaker 4: I'll give you a name and I'll get it right
- 17:47Speaker 4: this time. Wesley Williams okay from Duke. He I was
- 17:52Speaker 4: stayly talking to Jeff Loghman the other day talking about
- 17:54Speaker 4: about him.
- 17:55Speaker 5: And he he's violent.
- 17:57Speaker 4: You know when the Pats came on, you could see
- 18:00Speaker 4: when he was rushing the past or what he brings.
- 18:02Speaker 4: He's quick, he has some bend to him, you know,
- 18:05Speaker 4: where the guys can get low and get around, but
- 18:08Speaker 4: he hits and guys go backwards. He's a violent player.
- 18:12Speaker 4: And I asked Trayvon about him and he goes, oh, yeah,
- 18:14Speaker 4: he's got something. So I think the young man from
- 18:17Speaker 4: Duke is someone that you will also see and we'll
- 18:19Speaker 4: see a lot of him in the month of August
- 18:21Speaker 4: to get a feel for it.
- 18:22Speaker 5: And I think it'll be interesting early in the season.
- 18:25Speaker 5: You sort of wonder if they will have a chance
- 18:28Speaker 5: to know out of Williams, Strigau, bj Green the young guys.
- 18:35Speaker 5: Will they have enough in preseason to know for sure
- 18:38Speaker 5: or will they still be experimenting a little bit with
- 18:40Speaker 5: the third and fourth A third and fourth with a
- 18:43Speaker 5: rotation guy early in the season. I think it'll it'll
- 18:46Speaker 5: take him a while to find the right guy.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Ryan, and you mentioned some of those hybrid guys, and
- 18:50Speaker 1: I think this gives a little more credence to when
- 18:53Speaker 1: they talk about moving Trayvon into the middle, because we've
- 18:56Speaker 1: talked about it for a long time. We don't always
- 18:58Speaker 1: see a ton of it, but now with some of those,
- 19:00Speaker 1: whether it's Gardak, McLeod, Wesley Williams as you mentioned, they
- 19:03Speaker 1: have some of that athleticism they can use in different ways.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Gives them the options.
- 19:07Speaker 4: Can you imagine having Eric Armstead at six foot seven
- 19:10Speaker 4: and Trayvon Walker with six', five with long arms, inside
- 19:14Speaker 4: putting their hands up and clogging the. Lanes you'll see
- 19:17Speaker 4: tip balls which create, interceptions and you know they're gonna
- 19:20Speaker 4: be looking for. Them after last year having twenty seven,
- 19:22Speaker 4: takeaways they're gonna have to create some of, those and
- 19:24Speaker 4: that's how you manufacture.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Them let's go To bruce From cameron And Saint Simon's island,
- 19:27Speaker 1: says trying to get your Opinion john as an expert
- 19:31Speaker 1: observer as to how many games into the twenty twenty
- 19:33Speaker 1: six season would the fans be able to tell how
- 19:35Speaker 1: The jaguar season is going to. Go the league is
- 19:37Speaker 1: obviously week to, week but when would the team's weaknesses
- 19:40Speaker 1: and strengths become?
- 19:41Speaker 5: Apparent, well nobody ever wants to hear this On september,
- 19:45Speaker 5: third but it's usually five or six. Weeks that's when
- 19:49Speaker 5: you get a feel For that's WHEN nfl people believe
- 19:53Speaker 5: that the ups and downs sort of drift and you
- 19:59Speaker 5: can start seeing. Trends so five or six weeks in,
- 20:03Speaker 5: now if you're looking great, early that's a good. Sign
- 20:07Speaker 5: but if you're not looking great, early think about last
- 20:11Speaker 5: year this team after six games would would we look
- 20:16Speaker 5: back on that season as being. Memorable if we had
- 20:19Speaker 5: taken the first six, games they got, better they. Peaked
- 20:23Speaker 5: the great teams are going to look better in the
- 20:25Speaker 5: last ten. Games so give it a month and a
- 20:29Speaker 5: half before you write new Panicking brian.
- 20:31Speaker 4: AND i will, Say i'll go To. Thanksgiving how healthy
- 20:34Speaker 4: are you With? Thanksgiving? RIGHT i, mean because all the
- 20:36Speaker 4: trends that you see in the first six weeks can
- 20:38Speaker 4: go off the rails if you're Playing Nick mullens a
- 20:41Speaker 4: quarterback Around thanksgiving, time, right if you don't Have Trayvon
- 20:44Speaker 4: walker And Josh Heinz allen on the field and you're
- 20:46Speaker 4: having to rush Bj green And Wesley. Williams so the
- 20:50Speaker 4: health side of, it too is an indicator of the
- 20:53Speaker 4: trend towards The thanksgiving day.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Break all, right AND i picked this one just for, you,
- 20:58Speaker 1: Guys michael From Orange. Park for our, Final i'll question
- 21:01Speaker 1: three days on the, field then a day, off no,
- 21:03Speaker 1: pads one practice each, morning forgive, me but when do
- 21:06Speaker 1: we really?
- 21:07Speaker 5: Start John, well this is a common thing from old,
- 21:11Speaker 5: people AND i could easily fall into.
- 21:14Speaker 2: That.
- 21:15Speaker 5: Look it's not the same as it was fifteen to
- 21:18Speaker 5: twenty years. Ago it's not two a day. Practice it's
- 21:20Speaker 5: not the. Sun we're not standing out On Bay street
- 21:22Speaker 5: with the dust that's not coming back through the. Door
- 21:25Speaker 5: so they've, started they're getting into. It but if you're
- 21:28Speaker 5: old like, us it's never going to feel as tough
- 21:31Speaker 5: as it.
- 21:32Speaker 4: Did i'll use a word That Gerald, ingram the running
- 21:35Speaker 4: backs coach THAT i mentioned last, week the longtime jaguar
- 21:38Speaker 4: In New York Giants city, said you used to stress
- 21:41Speaker 4: guys by putting them in pads twice a day on
- 21:43Speaker 4: back to back to back, days practicing in the heat
- 21:45Speaker 4: of the afternoon in full, pads which they don't do here.
- 21:48Speaker 4: Anymore he, says the stress has become very, strategic. Right
- 21:52Speaker 4: these guys all wear these exo vests and they can
- 21:55Speaker 4: tell where their bodies are all throughout, Practice so they're very.
- 21:59Speaker 4: Strategic and when they hit how they stress. Them it's
- 22:02Speaker 4: not as if they don't try to make it. Difficult
- 22:04Speaker 4: it just doesn't look as difficult as it once.
- 22:06Speaker 5: Was because.
- 22:09Speaker 4: Three o'clock practice and the heat of the afternoon In, Jacksonville,
- 22:11Speaker 4: florida in full, paths everybody looked like they were.
- 22:14Speaker 5: Stressed well something that's by. Necessity you have to be,
- 22:17Speaker 5: healthy and they've known that for thirty. Years they've worked
- 22:21Speaker 5: toward this for thirty, years trying to figure out how
- 22:24Speaker 5: to stay healthy going into going into the regular, season
- 22:27Speaker 5: not only healthy in terms of not being on the injury,
- 22:30Speaker 5: report but having your body. Peaking is. Everything, look just
- 22:36Speaker 5: because we sit there and say it wasn't like it
- 22:38Speaker 5: used to, be that doesn't mean that was. Better it
- 22:39Speaker 5: just means different AS i, say.
- 22:41Speaker 4: None of the old guys who come, back coaches or,
- 22:43Speaker 4: players SAY i wish it was like it used to.
- 22:44Speaker 4: Be they all, say why couldn't have been like when
- 22:47Speaker 4: we were? Playing, sure so that tells you that they've got.
- 22:49Speaker 4: It the science and the technology obviously is so. Different you,
- 22:52Speaker 4: know thirty years, on they've got it dialed.
- 22:54Speaker 2: In sure do say it was.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Here we'll tell you what's coming up the rest of
- 22:57Speaker 1: the week for training camp and On jacksam next week
- 23:10Speaker 1: the second week of training. Camp but games are right
- 23:13Speaker 1: around the. Corner you want to get your twenty twenty six.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Tickets they are on sale. Now in two, weeks we're
- 23:18Speaker 1: going to be back in that stadium for the preseason
- 23:20Speaker 1: against The panthers On august twenty. First this limited capacity
- 23:24Speaker 1: though the eupper deck is, gone so head over To
- 23:26Speaker 1: jaguars dot com get your.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Tickets. Crazy we got games coming up, already, guys they're right.
- 23:31Speaker 5: There there's one.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Tonight there's one tonight NFL's officially back Preseason hall Of
- 23:35Speaker 1: fame game and Jag zamas of course with you. Again
- 23:39Speaker 1: we'll be back twice next, week hopefully to talk to
- 23:40Speaker 1: you a little bit about. Practice But the mock game is,
- 23:43Speaker 1: tomorrow so that's what we're looking forward. To what do
- 23:45Speaker 1: you hope to take out of that or what are
- 23:47Speaker 1: you gonna watch during the game, tomorrow BRAND.
- 23:48Speaker 5: I want to see the running. Game.
- 23:49Speaker 4: Uh we talked a little bit About travis leaving and
- 23:51Speaker 4: now you've Got Chris, Rodriguez Bacial, tutons you'll look good this.
- 23:56Speaker 4: CAMP i want to see the young man From taylor
- 23:58Speaker 4: From virginia Who Jeff logaman has obviously, yeah obviously a.
- 24:03Speaker 2: Little bit of a, homer but fair he has. Looked
- 24:05Speaker 2: he has looked good.
- 24:05Speaker 4: And put a big numbers in THE acc last. Year
- 24:08Speaker 4: So i'm gonna look at the running game because everything
- 24:10Speaker 4: That Liam cohen does is based on getting that running game,
- 24:12Speaker 4: going and it's been a major area of focus to
- 24:15Speaker 4: be better this. Year and most people Don't john think
- 24:18Speaker 4: that's possible Without travis etn but the Jag wars believe it.
- 24:21Speaker 5: IS i think it will be better because of what
- 24:24Speaker 5: they want to do With Chris rodriguez and getting a
- 24:27Speaker 5: little more on first, down et, cetera et. Cetera, Uh
- 24:29Speaker 5: i'll look at the rookie tight ends the. Man it's
- 24:31Speaker 5: a big. Storyline, uh maybe get a chance to see
- 24:34Speaker 5: a little wrinkle of how they're gonna use. Them Although
- 24:37Speaker 5: i'm not sure they'll show everything in the.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Preseason i'm gonna hone in on the.
- 24:40Speaker 1: LINES i THINK i want to see what offensive line
- 24:41Speaker 1: combos they end up going, with and then also some
- 24:44Speaker 1: of the versatility on pass RUSH i think will be
- 24:46Speaker 1: interesting if camp shows us a little razzle dazzle of
- 24:48Speaker 1: some some of what pat make it. Fun we'll be out,
- 24:52Speaker 1: here of, course training cam for the next couple of.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Weeks come join us for some of the open, practices
- 24:57Speaker 1: and we'll be back On Jags dam next week to
- 24:59Speaker 1: fill you in
