- 0:00Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Thanks to Craveworthy Street Food.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Freshly made with Reburger.
- 0:09Speaker 3: Welcome to the Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike
- 0:14Speaker 3: Minogue and Keezy. Oh, g'day you mad bastards. Great to
- 0:19Speaker 3: have your company this Tuesday afternoon. It is the 22nd
- 0:22Speaker 3: of September, 2026. And you, my friends, as always, listening
- 0:26Speaker 3: to the Big Show brought to you by Reburg Air.
- 0:29Speaker 4: Craveworthy street food freshly made with Reburg Air.
- 0:32Speaker 5: Reburg.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Yeah, great stuff.
- 0:35Speaker 3: We're back on the Arvos, fellas, after doing a little
- 0:38Speaker 3: stint on breakfast. Have you fully recovered, Mogi, you massive stallion?
- 0:43Speaker 1: I've got to be honest with you, man. I'm going
- 0:45Speaker 1: pretty grousey, mad dog. Sick son of a bee. But
- 0:48Speaker 1: I was a little bit low energy until I heard
- 0:50Speaker 1: you do the top of the hour because that means
- 0:53Speaker 1: we're back on drive, baby. This is where we belong, Keezy.
- 0:56Speaker 1: I don't want you getting ahead of yourself, getting above yourself,
- 0:58Speaker 1: getting beyond your station and thinking breakfast is where it's at, man,
- 1:01Speaker 1: because it's not it. Man, you've read my mind, Mogi.
- 1:04Speaker 4: I was like, shit, I have to find a way
- 1:06Speaker 4: to get off this shot and get on to breaking.
- 1:08Speaker 3: I was getting those vibes as well.
- 1:09Speaker 1: I've already looked into it, man. It can't be done.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Not at all? Unfortunately, nah, sadly. 15, 20 years? I'll
- 1:16Speaker 1: be gone.
- 1:16Speaker 3: You know, you may have a shot.
- 1:19Speaker 5: 20 years?
- 1:19Speaker 3: 15 to 20, I reckon.
- 1:21Speaker 1: And on this station?
- 1:22Speaker 3: On this station. Either that or Coast or something.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I think so, man.
- 1:27Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, with Sam Wallace in there.
- 1:29Speaker 5: 100%.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. Good stuff.
- 1:30Speaker 1: I think it'll be you and Simon Barnett. Oh, well,
- 1:35Speaker 1: I tell you what, he's pretty good at radio.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Yeah, he is.
- 1:37Speaker 1: He's very good. You've got a lot to learn off him. Hey, Jase. Yes, Keezy.
- 1:40Speaker 1: How are you today? Yeah, good, thank you. You've got
- 1:42Speaker 1: your puffer jacket on, man.
- 1:43Speaker 3: Well, we were just discussing before we went on air,
- 1:46Speaker 3: the studio has a habit of going up and down
- 1:48Speaker 3: in temperature. One moment you're sweating your ass off, the
- 1:52Speaker 3: next moment you're freezing your tits off. So, you know
- 1:55Speaker 3: what I mean? It's almost ripe. to get ill. You
- 1:58Speaker 3: know what I'm saying? That constant fluctuation of temperature, Mogey.
- 2:01Speaker 1: I completely agree with you, man. But, you know, look,
- 2:03Speaker 1: we've been here for five and a half years and
- 2:05Speaker 1: nothing's changed. You've just got to suck it. You've got
- 2:06Speaker 1: to shut up and get on with it, man.
- 2:08Speaker 5: Totally, man.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Be a goddamn backbone.
- 2:13Speaker 3: What's happening on The Big Show with Old Mogey.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Well, another day. It's another opportunity to hear about Jase's
- 2:22Speaker 1: inability to plan trips. You've got a holiday coming up, man.
- 2:25Speaker 1: You've had an absolute shocker. Yeah, I have. We're going
- 2:28Speaker 1: to be hearing all about that. I'm also going to
- 2:30Speaker 1: be having a look at What we can do around
- 2:34Speaker 1: this WAZ situation, now I know people think there's a
- 2:36Speaker 1: bit of, you know, sour grapes banging on about it.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Haven't we talked about it enough? And frankly, the answer
- 2:41Speaker 1: is yes. But we've got a new idea, a way
- 2:44Speaker 1: that we can impact Grand Final Day. Even though we're
- 2:47Speaker 1: not going to be there, we can find a way
- 2:49Speaker 1: to actually be there and have a presence at the
- 2:50Speaker 1: ground on that day.
- 2:51Speaker 3: Show our rage.
- 2:53Speaker 1: And coming up next, O'Keezy. 24 hours on from his
- 2:58Speaker 1: come down with the fellas scores. Are you going to
- 3:00Speaker 1: process your thoughts for us, mate?
- 3:02Speaker 4: Yeah, because if our afternoon listeners didn't hear, O'Keezy got
- 3:06Speaker 4: put through the ringer there in the scoring department from
- 3:08Speaker 4: a certain member of the big show. And I think
- 3:10Speaker 4: I've had time to process it, and I've got some
- 3:13Speaker 4: thoughts now.
- 3:14Speaker 1: I've got to say, I am interested to see what
- 3:16Speaker 1: happened when you got home and how the conversations with
- 3:18Speaker 1: your wife went and how she's feeling about that. It
- 3:20Speaker 1: was chill, Mo. You don't worry about it, mate.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Here's Kings of Leon in the meantime, you backbones.
- 3:27Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Yes, indeed.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Smashing pumpkins there on the Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon.
- 3:36Speaker 3: The time is 11 minutes past 4 o'clock.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Come dine with.
- 3:43Speaker 5: The fearless. Yes, indeed.
- 3:46Speaker 3: We posted the video last night of the Come Dine
- 3:49Speaker 3: With The Fellas Keezy edition. That's going off. As all
- 3:52Speaker 3: of them have, fellas, people love a bit of Come
- 3:55Speaker 3: Dine With Me action from the big show.
- 3:57Speaker 1: 100% Jase.
- 3:58Speaker 4: It was a massive effort, obviously, but it was also
- 4:01Speaker 4: a massive joy and privilege to have you and your
- 4:03Speaker 4: lovely partners at my house.
- 4:04Speaker 5: Yes.
- 4:05Speaker 4: Yesterday morning on The Breakfast Show, the scores were dealt
- 4:08Speaker 4: out and, I mean, look, Did one of the hosts
- 4:12Speaker 4: of the big show give me the lowest score anyone's
- 4:14Speaker 4: given anyone else on this?
- 4:15Speaker 3: Yes.
- 4:16Speaker 5: Yes.
- 4:16Speaker 1: It did happen.
- 4:19Speaker 4: Did that member of the big show happen to sound
- 4:21Speaker 4: exactly like old Mogi?
- 4:23Speaker 1: Yes, it did.
- 4:24Speaker 4: But I've done some thinking, Mogi. You slammed me there.
- 4:28Speaker 4: You gave me a 6 out of 10 for one.
- 4:30Speaker 1: I didn't slam you. I gave you a fair score. Yeah.
- 4:33Speaker 1: And I've come to terms with it. It's all G.
- 4:36Speaker 1: You do your best.
- 4:37Speaker 4: And if it doesn't all, it's not always going to
- 4:39Speaker 4: work out. My wife, on the other hand, is fuming.
- 4:44Speaker 1: I was waiting for your wife. My wife's fuming.
- 4:48Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Hey, look, if she wanted a better score, she should
- 4:50Speaker 1: have helped you out. Well, I mean, that's a rule.
- 4:52Speaker 1: But she hung you out to dry. Well, to be honest,
- 4:55Speaker 1: that was a rule.
- 4:56Speaker 4: So this is the thing she's fuming about is– She
- 4:59Speaker 4: was going to help me, and she sort of did,
- 5:02Speaker 4: but then we heard the rule, which we didn't know,
- 5:04Speaker 4: that I had to cook everything.
- 5:06Speaker 1: We were like, oh, God, okay. Oh, no, I don't
- 5:07Speaker 1: know if it was the rule, because I thought it
- 5:09Speaker 1: was the rule, so I did everything myself, and then
- 5:12Speaker 1: Jase and his missus worked together.
- 5:16Speaker 5: Right.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Wow. Yeah. I mean, she made all the pavlova. Yes.
- 5:20Speaker 3: Well, I did some of the pavlova stuff.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. But she was a help.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Yes.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Would be my point.
- 5:26Speaker 3: Yes.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Right, okay. Yeah.
- 5:29Speaker 4: And then I guess it was the late reference to, oh,
- 5:32Speaker 4: it has to be done on the day. That's really
- 5:34Speaker 4: thrown a cat amongst the pigeons, not only with my wife,
- 5:38Speaker 4: but in my wife's family chat.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Oh, really?
- 5:40Speaker 4: And also my own family chat as well. But everyone
- 5:44Speaker 4: is just like.
- 5:46Speaker 1: But you weren't told. You weren't told. That's not fair.
- 5:49Speaker 4: And I'm like, Mom, don't worry about it.
- 5:51Speaker 1: It's fine, Dad.
- 5:52Speaker 3: It's okay, Don. It's okay.
- 5:54Speaker 1: He was fuming. I was talking to the in-laws as well,
- 5:56Speaker 1: and they were like, wait, but you didn't know. And
- 5:58Speaker 1: I'm like, it's fine.
- 5:59Speaker 4: It's just made a lasagna for the fellas.
- 6:00Speaker 1: That's all it is. They're a pretty highly strung bunch,
- 6:02Speaker 1: aren't they? Very much so. You have a little bit
- 6:04Speaker 1: of fun, a little bit of a dinner party. You
- 6:05Speaker 1: chuck out a six. Anyone complaining about the 10 I
- 6:07Speaker 1: handed out? Also the only person to hand out a 10.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Anyone moaning about that?
- 6:11Speaker 5: No.
- 6:11Speaker 1: No, I don't think so. I.
- 6:13Speaker 3: I was going to say, actually, one of the things
- 6:14Speaker 3: that impressed me by your Come Dine With Me was
- 6:17Speaker 3: your family or your wife's family's cookbook. They take their
- 6:22Speaker 3: food very seriously.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Chase, this is going to fix it. No, it's not.
- 6:26Speaker 1: You being nice.
- 6:28Speaker 3: No, I was just very impressed. It was like a
- 6:30Speaker 3: proper cookbook.
- 6:31Speaker 1: It was, yeah. It's very nice the way they've done that.
- 6:35Speaker 4: But unfortunately, I'm now at a crossroads where I have
- 6:37Speaker 4: to choose between family or the big show.
- 6:39Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 6:40Speaker 1: So my wife and I are getting divorced. Yeah, I
- 6:41Speaker 1: think so. I think that's the only thing for it.
- 6:43Speaker 1: But it's the right call. The right call. You know,
- 6:47Speaker 1: I love the big show.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Yeah. This is my whole.
- 6:49Speaker 1: That's the thing. This is it. This is my family.
- 6:51Speaker 1: That's what I said to her this morning. Yeah.
- 6:54Speaker 4: And to be honest, you know, I felt like a
- 6:56Speaker 4: weight has been lifted.
- 6:59Speaker 3: Yep. Because she rang me in tears and she was fuming, Mogi.
- 7:02Speaker 1: And understandably so, man. Her husband has let her down terribly.
- 7:06Speaker 3: Hey, hey, hey, listen, listen, it's going to be okay.
- 7:09Speaker 3: Is that what you said?
- 7:10Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 7:11Speaker 3: It's going to be all right. And everyone had a
- 7:13Speaker 3: terrific time. That's the important thing.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Exactly. So I just thought I'd fill you guys in.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Although actually now, you know, I've got a really bad
- 7:22Speaker 1: taste in my mouth and not just because of the entree.
- 7:24Speaker 5: Mogi. Mogi.
- 7:31Speaker 3: It's good stuff.
- 7:32Speaker 1: It's SheHard.
- 7:35Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 7:38Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Collective Soul there on the Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon.
- 7:46Speaker 3: The time is 4.37. And as you can imagine, after
- 7:49Speaker 3: Sunday's debacle with the Waz, a lot of very, very
- 7:54Speaker 3: grumpy fans, fellas. And actually, incidentally, you were talking yesterday, Mogi, about...
- 7:59Speaker 3: how the Australians were banging on about it as well.
- 8:02Speaker 5: Yes.
- 8:03Speaker 3: And I was watching a few videos. You were bang on, mate.
- 8:06Speaker 3: They weren't happy about it.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Nobody's happy about it, Jase, least of all Warriors fans.
- 8:09Speaker 1: And the fact of the matter is, and I know
- 8:11Speaker 1: a lot of people feel like they might have heard
- 8:12Speaker 1: enough about this, but the Warriors were robbed.
- 8:14Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 8:15Speaker 1: We were dudded. Ripped off.
- 8:18Speaker 3: Short changed.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Short changed. Thank you very much. And we're probably the
- 8:23Speaker 1: best fans in the world. Everybody knows that. We're always
- 8:26Speaker 1: telling ourselves that. And we prove it by throwing things
- 8:28Speaker 1: at referees. And that's what I love about us. That
- 8:30Speaker 1: was sick, man. Instead of just losing quietly, we talk
- 8:32Speaker 1: about all the ways that we've been darted and ripped off,
- 8:35Speaker 1: even though we didn't play particularly well anyway. And it
- 8:37Speaker 1: saved us getting flogged next week by 40 by Penrith. Yeah.
- 8:40Speaker 4: Well, I don't care that Tain Tua Piki and Sharnzooka
- 8:42Speaker 4: Cluckstar and Kirk Capel are all out next week.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Nah, nah, nah. We still would have won. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Because that's how good we are, because it's next man up.
- 8:49Speaker 6: Yes.
- 8:50Speaker 1: It's next man up.
- 8:50Speaker 3: And they've shown that all season, quite frankly.
- 8:52Speaker 1: But the beauty of the Warriors is, you know, we
- 8:56Speaker 1: are the best fans out there. Another way that we
- 8:57Speaker 1: display this is because over 25% of the tickets sold
- 9:01Speaker 1: for the grand final were sold to Kiwis, to Warriors fans,
- 9:05Speaker 1: who were sure that the Warriors were going to get there.
- 9:07Speaker 1: And so now, of course, you would expect that everybody
- 9:09Speaker 1: would sell those tickets to the people that are going
- 9:11Speaker 1: to be in the grand final. And we say here
- 9:13Speaker 1: at the Hauraki Big Show. Warriors fans, do not sell
- 9:16Speaker 1: your tickets for the grand final. There is an opportunity
- 9:19Speaker 1: for us to have a real impact, even though our
- 9:21Speaker 1: team is not going to be there on the day.
- 9:23Speaker 1: And the way that we have that impact is none
- 9:26Speaker 1: of us sell our tickets. We keep it. Eat the loss.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Eat it. You've got 80,000 tickets, 80,000 seats at that stadium. 25%
- 9:34Speaker 1: of those are sold to Warriors fans. If 25% of
- 9:37Speaker 1: Warriors fans that have got those, if 100% of those
- 9:39Speaker 1: fans don't sell those tickets... 25% of that stadium is
- 9:42Speaker 1: going to sit empty. We are going to rob the
- 9:46Speaker 1: fans of the teams that are in the grand final
- 9:48Speaker 1: of the opportunity to see their own team win a premiership.
- 9:51Speaker 1: And how bloody good was that? How on brand would
- 9:54Speaker 1: that be for Warriors? Yeah, totally. Backbone.
- 9:57Speaker 3: And can I just say, Mogi's in that situation and
- 10:01Speaker 3: he's leading the charge.
- 10:02Speaker 1: He's not selling it. I've got a ticket. I'm not
- 10:05Speaker 1: selling it, man. I want that seat to sit absolutely empty.
- 10:07Speaker 1: I want nobody in it. That's a seat that a
- 10:09Speaker 1: seven-year-old kid could sit in and watch their team win.
- 10:12Speaker 5: Yes.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Why should a seven-year-old get to see their team win
- 10:14Speaker 1: when I've been waiting for 32 years? Bugger that.
- 10:17Speaker 3: Yeah, agreed.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Not on my watch. A seven-year-old Roosters fan or Panthers
- 10:21Speaker 1: fan or something.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Nah.
- 10:22Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Get out of here.
- 10:23Speaker 3: Yeah, whatever.
- 10:24Speaker 1: So we want you all to come together on this, 3483,
- 10:25Speaker 1: see if you'll do it for us. We want you
- 10:28Speaker 1: to share the news, spread the word. If you've got
- 10:31Speaker 1: mates over in Australia, friends, whanau, whatever it might be,
- 10:34Speaker 1: tell them, hold on to your tickets, take the loss.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Just take it. Take the loss.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Just take it.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Take it. Good stuff.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Give us your thoughts on that idea, by the way,
- 10:46Speaker 3: on 3483. In the meantime, there's Iggy Pop.
- 10:49Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Cage the elephant there on the Hauraki Big Show this
- 10:56Speaker 3: Tuesday afternoon. The time is 4.47. Fellas, let's talk TV.
- 11:03Speaker 3: What's on the telly with Mike Minogue?
- 11:09Speaker 4: Yeah!
- 11:10Speaker 3: That's correct.
- 11:11Speaker 5: Woo!
- 11:13Speaker 1: Hey, fellas, I've started watching a new show. I'm just
- 11:16Speaker 1: looking at a review here, and it says Good Bones
- 11:19Speaker 1: is a hilarious, mysterious home renovation nightmare. It is a comedy.
- 11:24Speaker 1: It's a sitcom, a Kiwi comedy, and it's got our
- 11:27Speaker 1: mates Josh Thompson.
- 11:29Speaker 3: Yes.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Aidy Walker and Wesley Dowdle are in it. Great cast.
- 11:32Speaker 1: It's a great cast.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Yes.
- 11:34Speaker 1: And it's a story of a man who's sort of
- 11:36Speaker 1: forced by his pregnant wife. He's got to step up, Keezy.
- 11:39Speaker 1: You know, sometimes you've got to step up. Yeah. And
- 11:42Speaker 1: so he ends up buying an old shitter of a house.
- 11:45Speaker 1: They're desperate to get into their first home. And the
- 11:47Speaker 1: house is hiding a lot of secrets. Does it have
- 11:50Speaker 1: good bones, though?
- 11:51Speaker 4: Because I've heard that phrase so much while looking at houses.
- 11:54Speaker 1: It might have good bones. It's got terrible skin.
- 11:57Speaker 3: Yes.
- 11:57Speaker 1: The skin is hideous.
- 11:58Speaker 3: A lot of muscle wastage.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely. So he sort of goes about renovating it
- 12:04Speaker 1: with some weirdo that turns up, played by Wesley Dowdle.
- 12:08Speaker 1: And as they go along, the house reveals its secrets.
- 12:11Speaker 1: A woman may or may not have been buried somewhere
- 12:14Speaker 1: on the property. You know what I mean? Bricked up somewhere.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Bricked up, exactly.
- 12:18Speaker 3: Right, okay.
- 12:19Speaker 1: I've watched the first couple of episodes. It's on three now,
- 12:22Speaker 1: or TV three. I think the whole series is available
- 12:24Speaker 1: to watch now. I'm two in, so hard to know.
- 12:28Speaker 1: But so far, four buzzies out of a possible five buzzies.
- 12:31Speaker 3: Wow, that's good stuff.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Good bones.
- 12:34Speaker 3: Hey, well, last night I was doing the classic Samsung
- 12:38Speaker 3: TV shuffle.
- 12:40Speaker 5: Sheena. Wow.
- 12:43Speaker 3: Funnily enough, that's where I ended up again. You know,
- 12:45Speaker 3: and what I, because, you know, it's just on Rotate.
- 12:48Speaker 1: If you want, I could talk about a TV show
- 12:49Speaker 1: I watched.
- 12:50Speaker 3: No, I just want to say, you know, because often people,
- 12:55Speaker 3: you know, they go, well, I've already seen this three times.
- 12:58Speaker 3: I need to see it a fourth. But actually, I
- 13:00Speaker 3: find there's always something new that you find in every viewing.
- 13:03Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 13:04Speaker 1: If you watch it carefully enough. Correct, Mogey.
- 13:08Speaker 4: Do you ever pause it and notice stuff?
- 13:11Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Exactly that. It's like, oh, I never
- 13:14Speaker 3: saw that before.
- 13:15Speaker 1: That's pretty good. You know, that came out in 3D.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Did it?
- 13:20Speaker 4: Hey, that's Sheena. It's on Samsung TV. And it's a
- 13:23Speaker 4: mid-80s film with lots of nudity in it. Last night
- 13:26Speaker 4: we watched another episode of the TV show I was
- 13:28Speaker 4: talking about with the fabulous guy who goes on these
- 13:30Speaker 4: amazing trains overseas.
- 13:32Speaker 6: Yes.
- 13:33Speaker 4: It's called Jonathan Fang's, P-H-A-N-G, Gourmet Trains.
- 13:38Speaker 1: And it's on YouTube. I'm disappointed to say I like
- 13:41Speaker 1: the sound of this.
- 13:42Speaker 4: It's great because last night he went on a train.
- 13:44Speaker 1: And he's great.
- 13:44Speaker 4: He's this British broadcaster, really big fella. He's obviously a
- 13:47Speaker 4: food critic or something. And he went on a train
- 13:50Speaker 4: from Venice to London. And it's like an Orient Express
- 13:54Speaker 4: type train. The carriages are like 100 years old. It's
- 13:58Speaker 4: all exactly like an Agatha Christie novel.
- 14:00Speaker 5: Yes.
- 14:01Speaker 4: And along the way he hopped out and ate food
- 14:02Speaker 4: here and here and here and there. And then my
- 14:04Speaker 4: wife and I was like, let's look up the price
- 14:06Speaker 4: of a ticket on that train. fully sold out, but
- 14:08Speaker 4: for an entry-level cabin just to go there.
- 14:12Speaker 1: It's like a one-and-a-half-day trip. Is that all it is?
- 14:14Speaker 4: I think so.
- 14:15Speaker 1: You sleep overnight and make your way there.
- 14:18Speaker 4: $ 18, 000 New Zealand dollars for my wife and I to go.
- 14:20Speaker 5: Wow.
- 14:21Speaker 4: That's for the entry-level without adding any champagne or anything.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Wow. But I was like, that's bloody. And then I think,
- 14:27Speaker 1: do you pay for food? I'm not sure. Yeah, God knows.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Well, you'd hope for that.
- 14:31Speaker 1: That's a bit of a dampener.
- 14:32Speaker 3: You know, you'd have that all spread out for you.
- 14:35Speaker 3: Definitely a buffet breakfast, sure. Well, it's not buffet.
- 14:38Speaker 4: It's like, you know, the dishes are all like something
- 14:41Speaker 4: lobster this and like really decadent amazing.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Yeah, right.
- 14:44Speaker 4: And beluga caviar and stuff like that.
- 14:48Speaker 3: I might have a look into that, actually. Sounds like
- 14:51Speaker 3: right up my alley.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Have you got your pen? Do you want to write
- 14:53Speaker 1: it down? You know, that'd be a good place for
- 14:54Speaker 1: our Christmas party this year.
- 14:55Speaker 3: Yes, good thinking, Moby.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Do you know what, though?
- 14:57Speaker 4: We figured out you could recreate that by eating Reburger
- 15:00Speaker 4: on the City Rail link.
- 15:01Speaker 1: So why don't you just do that?
- 15:04Speaker 3: Come on, Keezy, man.
- 15:06Speaker 1: It's on YouTube, by the way, if you want mindless
- 15:08Speaker 1: TV watching. What's his name again there? Jonathan Fang's Gourmet Trains. Righto,
- 15:12Speaker 1: it's on the list. You love trains, eh, Moby? I do, man.
- 15:15Speaker 3: It's Faith No More.
- 15:17Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 15:22Speaker 3: Faith No More there on the Hauraki Big Show this
- 15:25Speaker 3: Tuesday afternoon, the time 456.
- 15:27Speaker 4: Hey, a reminder that we are currently running a promotion
- 15:30Speaker 4: with Emerson's. It's called Name Our Beer, and you can
- 15:32Speaker 4: win a sweet Emerson's hoodie, bloody high-quality hoodies.
- 15:35Speaker 1: We've just been sent them.
- 15:37Speaker 3: They're bloody good, actually.
- 15:38Speaker 1: They are bloody good.
- 15:39Speaker 4: All you have to do is name a beer that
- 15:41Speaker 4: they are making for the Dunedin Craft Beer and Food
- 15:44Speaker 4: Festival to celebrate the big show. It's a tropical, hazy,
- 15:46Speaker 4: pale ale.
- 15:47Speaker 1: It needs a name.
- 15:48Speaker 4: Text it through to 3483. You instantly get in the
- 15:51Speaker 4: draw for one of these hoodies. We've got a whole
- 15:52Speaker 4: heap of them to give away, so get stuck.
- 15:54Speaker 3: Yeah, bloody great stuff, Kesey. Hey, now, listen, plenty coming
- 15:57Speaker 3: up after 5 o'clock. I'm off to Aussie in a
- 15:59Speaker 3: couple of weeks, and we were planning a big roadie,
- 16:02Speaker 3: and it's turned into an absolute debacle. Also.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Speaking of debacles.
- 16:07Speaker 3: Speaking of debacles, we're going to be speaking to Pigeon
- 16:11Speaker 3: Tim about Keezy's racing pigeon.
- 16:13Speaker 1: It was the final race of the year.
- 16:15Speaker 3: Yes, it was.
- 16:16Speaker 4: There were eight races it's competed in. It's been absolutely
- 16:18Speaker 4: shithouse in seven of them. But I've got a good
- 16:21Speaker 4: feeling about this final race, fellas.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Right, okay. We might be in the money here. Yeah,
- 16:25Speaker 1: good stuff.
- 16:26Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 16:29Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 16:32Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 16:34Speaker 3: Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope you're surviving your Tuesday afternoon.
- 16:38Speaker 3: You're listening to The Big Show brought to you by ReBurger.
- 16:42Speaker 4: Handcrafted burgers, loaded fries and gourmet eats that will change
- 16:46Speaker 4: the game.
- 16:52Speaker 5: Yes, indeed.
- 16:53Speaker 3: I tell you what, fellas, spring has well and truly sprung,
- 16:56Speaker 3: hasn't it? What the hell does that even mean?
- 16:59Speaker 1: I don't even know anymore.
- 17:00Speaker 3: Well, classic spring weather at the moment. I got drenched
- 17:03Speaker 3: about half an hour ago just going out for a
- 17:05Speaker 3: quiet vape, and it just was pissing sheets of rain.
- 17:10Speaker 4: Yes.
- 17:10Speaker 3: Really? Sheets of rain. You know, I'm looking at the
- 17:14Speaker 3: temperature gauge at the moment, and it says it's 23
- 17:17Speaker 3: degrees in the studio. Feels like 18 to me.
- 17:20Speaker 1: It does.
- 17:21Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 17:22Speaker 1: But that's air conditioning. I was in the toilet just before,
- 17:25Speaker 1: and it said in there that it was 25 degrees,
- 17:28Speaker 1: but it felt like 9. In the toilet? Are you
- 17:31Speaker 1: sure you were in the toilet? Yeah, but I had
- 17:32Speaker 1: my pants off. That always chills me out a little bit,
- 17:35Speaker 1: you know? Yeah, right.
- 17:37Speaker 4: Is there a temperature gauge in the toilet?
- 17:39Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, there is. Have you not seen that?
- 17:40Speaker 3: No.
- 17:40Speaker 1: You're too busy looking at other people's downstairs, man.
- 17:42Speaker 5: Yeah, that'll be it.
- 17:43Speaker 1: You've got to get your eyes up, man.
- 17:45Speaker 3: Yeah, that'll be it.
- 17:45Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 17:46Speaker 3: By the way, tell us how the weather is where
- 17:49Speaker 3: you are in New Zealand on 3483. We love a
- 17:51Speaker 3: bit of weather, Jack. Hey, coming up.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Especially if you're in Auckland.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Because that's all we care about. Yeah, totally.
- 17:58Speaker 3: I'm about to embark on a trip very soon, and
- 18:01Speaker 3: I've already turned it into a debacle. We'll be talking
- 18:03Speaker 3: about that next. In the meantime, here's the cranberries. Here
- 18:06Speaker 3: we go.
- 18:07Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 18:11Speaker 3: News there on the Hodaki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon.
- 18:15Speaker 3: The time is 5.13. But right now it's time for
- 18:18Speaker 3: a bit of Hoity J vacation chat.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Doosh, doosh. With Hoity J. Doosh, doosh.
- 18:28Speaker 3: Now, fellas, in about a week and a half, just
- 18:30Speaker 3: over a week and a half, I'm off to Aussie
- 18:32Speaker 3: for a couple of weeks.
- 18:33Speaker 1: God, you are. You're a hard-working son of a bitch, man.
- 18:36Speaker 1: You've earned it.
- 18:37Speaker 3: Thank you, man.
- 18:38Speaker 4: I'm just impressed by your... Is it intrepid nature?
- 18:43Speaker 5: Yeah, that's right.
- 18:44Speaker 1: He's got a curiosity in him, doesn't he? Yeah.
- 18:46Speaker 5: I do.
- 18:46Speaker 1: You're always a globetrotter.
- 18:48Speaker 3: I've always wanted to see the other side, you know
- 18:51Speaker 3: what I mean?
- 18:52Speaker 4: And the thing about where you're going in Aussie, it's
- 18:56Speaker 4: super different to here.
- 18:57Speaker 3: Yes, so I hear. But that doesn't scare me, Keezy.
- 19:00Speaker 3: That doesn't scare me, man. Now, listen... But already it's
- 19:05Speaker 3: turned into a massive debacle.
- 19:08Speaker 1: That said.
- 19:09Speaker 3: Now, what we were planning on doing, right, we've got
- 19:11Speaker 3: family in Sydney.
- 19:12Speaker 1: You're going with your missus.
- 19:14Speaker 3: My wife and my youngest daughter. Oh, right. So we've
- 19:17Speaker 3: got family in Sydney, and I've got three of my
- 19:21Speaker 3: daughters who live in Melbourne. So my wife and I
- 19:23Speaker 3: had this great idea. How about we do a massive
- 19:25Speaker 3: roadie from Sydney all the way down to Melbourne, stops
- 19:30Speaker 3: all along the way.
- 19:31Speaker 1: For like, what, a week?
- 19:33Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 19:33Speaker 1: That sounds great.
- 19:34Speaker 3: Seven or eight days sort of thing. And I went, yeah,
- 19:38Speaker 3: that's a great idea. So my wife said to me,
- 19:40Speaker 3: so I reckon it's about, I think it's about, excuse me,
- 19:44Speaker 3: nine to ten hours from Sydney to Melbourne. And I went, okay.
- 19:51Speaker 3: So that was the basic premise of our travel. Nine
- 19:54Speaker 3: to ten hours. A little bit further than, say, Auckland
- 19:57Speaker 3: to Wellington.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Yes.
- 19:58Speaker 3: So.
- 20:00Speaker 3: The situation was further complicated by the fact that one
- 20:03Speaker 3: of my daughters was starting a new job in Melbourne
- 20:07Speaker 3: around that time. And she said, I can only get
- 20:09Speaker 3: these days off, Dad. And it was like the 7th
- 20:12Speaker 3: and 8th and 9th in order to join us. And
- 20:15Speaker 3: so we went, okay, well, let's meet you somewhere out
- 20:18Speaker 3: of Melbourne. Not too far so you don't have to
- 20:20Speaker 3: travel too far. And we found this great place called
- 20:25Speaker 3: Golden Beach.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:27Speaker 3: Found a nice little Airbnb there. So anyway, the plan
- 20:30Speaker 3: is we go from Sydney and we drive to a
- 20:32Speaker 3: place called Jervis Bay, which is apparently beautiful.
- 20:35Speaker 1: A lot of sharks.
- 20:36Speaker 3: And it's about a three-hour drive from Sydney to Jervis Bay.
- 20:41Speaker 5: Right.
- 20:41Speaker 1: And then the next day.
- 20:42Speaker 3: And then the next day we were going to meet
- 20:44Speaker 3: our daughter.
- 20:45Speaker 1: In Golden Bay.
- 20:46Speaker 3: In Golden Beach, it's called.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Right, Golden Beach.
- 20:48Speaker 3: Which is about three hours out of Melbourne. So my
- 20:50Speaker 3: reckoning is, okay, so three hours out of Melbourne, three
- 20:54Speaker 3: hours out of Sydney. So that would leave us about
- 20:55Speaker 3: three hours to travel down to my daughter.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Sweet as.
- 20:59Speaker 3: Perfect. So I do a little bit more investigating. And
- 21:03Speaker 3: I said, how far is it from Jervis Bay to
- 21:07Speaker 3: Golden Beach? Just out of interest, because I've already booked
- 21:10Speaker 3: the place there. And it said it's a nine hour
- 21:13Speaker 3: drive or about 780 kilometers.
- 21:15Speaker 1: And I was like, what the fuck? Are you waiting
- 21:21Speaker 1: for the beep? Yeah, don't worry about it. Okay.
- 21:24Speaker 3: So it was a nine-hour drive, and I was like,
- 21:26Speaker 3: the last thing we want to do is go, okay, great.
- 21:31Speaker 3: We're going to get up really early in the morning
- 21:33Speaker 3: and drive nine hours, get down there, eventually be exhausted
- 21:38Speaker 3: and grumpy. My daughter will be spitting tacks in the
- 21:40Speaker 3: back seat there.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:43Speaker 3: So then I went, well, that doesn't even make sense.
- 21:45Speaker 3: How could it possibly be nine hours if it's only
- 21:48Speaker 3: nine hours from bloody Sydney to Melbourne?
- 21:50Speaker 1: That's not right.
- 21:51Speaker 4: So you double-checked the entire trip?
- 21:52Speaker 3: So I double-checked and went back on the interweb and said,
- 21:56Speaker 3: how long is the coastal trip from Sydney to Melbourne?
- 22:00Speaker 3: And it said 14 to 15 hours. So my whole
- 22:03Speaker 3: premise from the start was fundamentally flawed. So you're just
- 22:09Speaker 3: going to can your... Yeah, I said just got to...
- 22:13Speaker 3: I blamed my wife, obviously, because she was the one
- 22:16Speaker 3: that gave me that advice. And I trusted her with that, Moggy.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Jase. Yes.
- 22:20Speaker 4: You recently purchased a coffee table without checking the dimensions.
- 22:23Speaker 3: Yes.
- 22:24Speaker 1: You then almost purchased a lamp without checking the dimensions.
- 22:26Speaker 3: Yes, I did.
- 22:27Speaker 4: You haven't checked the dimensions of Australia before your flight.
- 22:30Speaker 1: No. Start checking the dimensions of stuff, please.
- 22:33Speaker 3: Yeah, okay. But, no, what we're going to do is
- 22:36Speaker 3: we're going to, we're extending it by a day, and
- 22:39Speaker 3: we're going to do a break between Jervis Bay into
- 22:42Speaker 3: a place called Eden.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Oh, God, not Eden.
- 22:44Speaker 3: Oh, really?
- 22:45Speaker 1: That's shocking for us, isn't it?
- 22:46Speaker 3: Yeah, couldn't find a B & B there either, to
- 22:48Speaker 3: be honest.
- 22:49Speaker 5: Eden?
- 22:49Speaker 3: Yeah, it's called Eden.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Oh, Eden D's?
- 22:54Speaker 5: Is it?
- 22:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it might be.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Yeah, even D's. Even D's nuts. No, have fun though, man.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Sounds great. Yeah, thanks, man.
- 23:02Speaker 3: Here's Pearl Jam.
- 23:04Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 23:07Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 23:10Speaker 3: The Blakey's there on the Hodaki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon.
- 23:14Speaker 3: The time is 5.24 and we're having a bit of
- 23:16Speaker 3: holiday chat at the moment. Keezy, you're about to go
- 23:18Speaker 3: to Japan.
- 23:19Speaker 1: That's right.
- 23:19Speaker 3: For a couple of weeks as well. I'm going to Australia,
- 23:22Speaker 3: planned a big road trip. Got the fundamentals wrong, i.e.
- 23:26Speaker 3: how far it was from Sydney to Melbourne by about
- 23:28Speaker 3: six hours.
- 23:29Speaker 1: So you're planning for a nine-hour trip. It's actually 15.
- 23:31Speaker 3: It's actually 15 hours. So that was a debacle. Had
- 23:34Speaker 3: to go and cancel various Airbnbs, et cetera, et cetera.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Speaking of Airbnbs, because I know you guys are, you know,
- 23:41Speaker 3: very seasoned travellers. Yeah. And so I'd like to, you know,
- 23:45Speaker 3: use your experience to help hold Horty J out.
- 23:48Speaker 5: Sure.
- 23:48Speaker 3: And one of the things I've not, yes.
- 23:50Speaker 4: Just before you even start, I'm glad you're asking us
- 23:53Speaker 4: stuff because my first piece of advice is it's not
- 23:55Speaker 4: called Airbnb. It's called Airbed and Breakfast.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Oh, right.
- 23:58Speaker 5: Okay.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Don't shorten it. Even if it's not
- 24:00Speaker 1: an airbed? It's still called air bed and breakfast. Yeah,
- 24:04Speaker 1: that's right.
- 24:05Speaker 3: Oh, air bed and breakfast.
- 24:06Speaker 1: That's one word, air bed and breakfast. And breakfast, yeah.
- 24:09Speaker 3: Oh, my God. Because that's how it started out.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Originally, the first thing they did was tents.
- 24:14Speaker 3: Right, okay.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Just a tent in someone's backyard. That's right. And then
- 24:16Speaker 1: it's sort of gone on from there.
- 24:18Speaker 3: So it's air bed B & B.
- 24:20Speaker 1: No, air bed and breakfast.
- 24:22Speaker 3: Oh, air bed and breakfast. So they're all air beds?
- 24:25Speaker 5: That's right.
- 24:25Speaker 3: Oh, okay. Well, as opposed to your solid mattress.
- 24:28Speaker 1: That's right. That's right. They would have to be air beds.
- 24:30Speaker 3: Because one of them, I'm sure, had a water bed.
- 24:32Speaker 5: Oh, yeah?
- 24:33Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Well, they might have expanded a bit, but you don't
- 24:35Speaker 1: want to start messing with the name of the company,
- 24:37Speaker 1: you know? Yeah.
- 24:38Speaker 3: Okay, God, I better pass that on to my wife.
- 24:40Speaker 3: I don't want to turn up looking like a deer brain. Now,
- 24:43Speaker 3: one of the things I've noticed a lot, and it's
- 24:45Speaker 3: just baffled me, fellas, there's a lot of places advertising
- 24:50Speaker 3: one and a half baths.
- 24:52Speaker 1: Yes.
- 24:52Speaker 3: Oh, bathrooms.
- 24:53Speaker 1: One and a half bathrooms.
- 24:54Speaker 3: Well, what the hell is one and a half baths?
- 24:56Speaker 3: I mean, you can't have half a bath.
- 24:59Speaker 1: No, that got me. That used to get me until
- 25:01Speaker 1: I went to Europe. That's right.
- 25:03Speaker 3: It's big in Europe.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Half a bath.
- 25:06Speaker 4: No, it's not half a bath, Jase. It's half a bathroom.
- 25:08Speaker 4: So you have your full-size bathroom. What have you got
- 25:11Speaker 4: in there, Keezy? That's a good question. You've got your shower,
- 25:14Speaker 4: your toilet. Sometimes it's over a bath. Sometimes it's a shub.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Have you heard of a shub? No, write that down.
- 25:20Speaker 1: Right there. Shub.
- 25:22Speaker 3: S-H-U-B-B.
- 25:23Speaker 1: That's it. Two Bs. Two Bs.
- 25:26Speaker 3: Yeah, good.
- 25:27Speaker 4: And so you'll have your shower, your tub there. You'll
- 25:29Speaker 4: have a sink and maybe a mirror.
- 25:31Speaker 1: Yeah, oftentimes. It's a full bathroom. Handrails or towel rail,
- 25:35Speaker 1: I should say. Yeah, extractor fan.
- 25:37Speaker 3: And the other room will have half a bath.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Sorry?
- 25:39Speaker 3: The other room will have half a bath.
- 25:41Speaker 4: It's not half a bath, man. If you go around
- 25:43Speaker 4: saying that, you're going to look silly. What it is,
- 25:44Speaker 4: and it's big in Europe, is the bottom half of
- 25:47Speaker 4: a toilet.
- 25:47Speaker 5: Yep.
- 25:48Speaker 4: And then they'll just have a showerhead over the top
- 25:50Speaker 4: of it.
- 25:51Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 25:51Speaker 3: Oh, so you can shower while you're doing a steamer.
- 25:53Speaker 5: 100%.
- 25:53Speaker 1: Right, okay.
- 25:54Speaker 4: And they just save space by putting the sort of
- 25:56Speaker 4: toilet-showerhead hybrid.
- 25:58Speaker 3: Wouldn't your toilet paper get wet?
- 25:59Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah. But over there, of course, they
- 26:01Speaker 1: don't use toilet paper.
- 26:03Speaker 3: Oh, what do they use?
- 26:03Speaker 1: They use the showerhead.
- 26:05Speaker 3: Oh, okay.
- 26:06Speaker 1: What do they call that thing? A bidet. Oh, a bidet. Yeah,
- 26:09Speaker 1: that's right.
- 26:09Speaker 3: Do they do that in Aussie?
- 26:11Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. That's the thing about Aussie. Aussie is like
- 26:14Speaker 1: a really close Europe. Okay, yeah, no good.
- 26:18Speaker 4: And in fact, I would even say you don't even
- 26:19Speaker 4: need to go to Europe if you've been to Aussie.
- 26:22Speaker 1: No, 100%.
- 26:22Speaker 3: So the one and a half bar thing, don't worry
- 26:25Speaker 3: about it, it's all good?
- 26:26Speaker 1: Oh, it's great. It's really good.
- 26:28Speaker 4: So the three important things you want to make sure
- 26:30Speaker 4: that your accommodation has is an airbed, a shub, and
- 26:35Speaker 4: one of them toilets with a shower on the top
- 26:37Speaker 4: of it.
- 26:37Speaker 3: Right, okay, yeah. Talk about bloody... I should have been
- 26:42Speaker 3: speaking to you fellas earlier. Also, is it normal? Because
- 26:45Speaker 3: I've noticed, because I've, you know, signed up for these
- 26:48Speaker 3: places and made the payment. All of a sudden, the
- 26:52Speaker 3: price just goes through the roof.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Through the roof, yeah, that's sandy.
- 26:56Speaker 3: Is 750 bucks pretty sandy for your cleaning fee?
- 27:00Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely.
- 27:00Speaker 5: Oh, it is?
- 27:01Speaker 1: Isn't that cheap? God, you've got a good one there.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Far out.
- 27:04Speaker 3: Well, what are you normally paying?
- 27:06Speaker 4: Oh, you know, if they're cleaning, you know, the one
- 27:08Speaker 4: and a half bath and the shub and that, you're
- 27:10Speaker 4: upwards of 1500.
- 27:11Speaker 3: Seriously?
- 27:12Speaker 1: Yeah, Euro.
- 27:12Speaker 3: Well, I mean, there was one place, there was one
- 27:15Speaker 3: place that was like 250 a night.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Right.
- 27:18Speaker 3: And the cleaning fee was like 780 bucks. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 27:21Speaker 1: 250 a night, that's quite steep, actually. That's where they
- 27:24Speaker 1: get you. It should be about 230.
- 27:25Speaker 3: Right, okay. And it didn't have half a bath either.
- 27:28Speaker 1: Yeah, they've done you there, man. They've done you there, mate.
- 27:30Speaker 1: You've been done.
- 27:30Speaker 3: Can I cancel that?
- 27:32Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 27:36Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 27:38Speaker 3: He's indeed bushed there on the Hodaki Big Show this
- 27:41Speaker 3: Tuesday afternoon. The time is 5.38. Now, you'll recall a
- 27:44Speaker 3: little while ago, old Keezy bought himself a racing pigeon.
- 27:48Speaker 5: Keezy on all wings looking over his beak with me, Keezy.
- 27:56Speaker 4: Yeah, that's right, Jase. I gave $ 400 to a man
- 27:59Speaker 4: in Timaru, which I've done before. And boom, a racing
- 28:04Speaker 4: pigeon was assigned to me. It's had seven races. The
- 28:08Speaker 4: eighth was the weekend just gone. And up until now,
- 28:11Speaker 4: it's been pretty shithouse. Twice it finished in the 90s
- 28:14Speaker 4: out of 115 birds. And then 73rd, 38th, 31st, 19th.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Back to 27th again.
- 28:22Speaker 4: And look, it's a $ 400 investment. Final race was over
- 28:25Speaker 4: the weekend. We've got Pigeon Tim on the line because
- 28:28Speaker 4: I don't know what the final result was.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Okay?
- 28:31Speaker 3: Yeah, of the final race?
- 28:33Speaker 4: I've got no idea, but I am hoping that I
- 28:35Speaker 4: have come somewhere and I'm in some sort of money
- 28:38Speaker 4: to make this investment at least a little bit worth it.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Yeah, sure.
- 28:42Speaker 4: Pigeon Tim joins us now from Timidoo.
- 28:44Speaker 1: G'day, Tim. How you going?
- 28:45Speaker 2: Hi, guys.
- 28:46Speaker 6: How are you going?
- 28:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:47Speaker 1: Good, thanks, mate. Don't complain, Tim. I'm freaking out, man.
- 28:50Speaker 6: You'll be celebrating.
- 28:51Speaker 1: Really? You're joking. Tim, lay it on us, mate. How
- 28:54Speaker 1: did my bird go?
- 28:56Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 28:57Speaker 6: I can't believe you don't know. You were 11th, guys.
- 29:00Speaker 6: You've made it.
- 29:01Speaker 1: 11th.
- 29:02Speaker 3: Now, from my understanding.
- 29:04Speaker 2: Shut up, Jase.
- 29:05Speaker 1: Hang on a sec.
- 29:06Speaker 5: Woo!
- 29:08Speaker 6: You're in the money.
- 29:09Speaker 3: From my understanding, it's the top 15 birds that sort
- 29:14Speaker 3: of pay out. Am I right there, Tim?
- 29:15Speaker 6: Absolutely. You're bang on there, guys.
- 29:17Speaker 1: You're at number 11. Is there 100 big ones coming
- 29:20Speaker 1: Keezy's way?
- 29:22Speaker 6: Absolutely.
- 29:23Speaker 3: $ 100. Wow.
- 29:24Speaker 1: How about that?
- 29:26Speaker 3: Once you split it between all of us, obviously that'll
- 29:30Speaker 3: be $ 33 each.
- 29:31Speaker 4: We'll chat about that next, what we're going to do
- 29:34Speaker 4: with this money, my money.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Yeah, how good.
- 29:36Speaker 4: Our money, how good. Tim, it was the final race
- 29:39Speaker 4: out of eight. My bird does seem to show a
- 29:42Speaker 4: sort of development curve. It was getting better and better.
- 29:45Speaker 4: Is there any chance we could do a few more races, man,
- 29:47Speaker 4: just to see how good it could get?
- 29:49Speaker 1: Well, sorry, guys.
- 29:50Speaker 6: The season has finished for these birds.
- 29:52Speaker 1: Right, okay.
- 29:53Speaker 6: It looks like we're going to do a race from
- 29:54Speaker 6: the Canterbury AMP show in November. But, hey, we might
- 30:00Speaker 6: be able to get you in on that. Who knows?
- 30:02Speaker 1: Will I have to give you more money, Tim?
- 30:04Speaker 3: Oh, absolutely. Yeah, of course.
- 30:08Speaker 1: He's no fool. Yeah, yeah.
- 30:10Speaker 6: Welcome to the racing game, guys.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Can you tell us, Tim, did any pigeons lose their
- 30:14Speaker 1: lives over the course of this series of races?
- 30:18Speaker 6: Oh, hell no. All birds come home. They're all healthy,
- 30:21Speaker 6: wealthy and wise.
- 30:22Speaker 1: Good.
- 30:22Speaker 3: Yeah, nice.
- 30:23Speaker 6: And ready for next season.
- 30:24Speaker 3: Was there an outstanding pigeon through the series of races there, Tim,
- 30:30Speaker 3: that really stood out from the flock?
- 30:34Speaker 6: There were a couple of pigeons that stood out, but
- 30:36Speaker 6: one in particular. And these were guys from Hunterville, the
- 30:39Speaker 6: Hunterville Express. It was their syndicate. It was called Just
- 30:43Speaker 6: Got In. These fellas had a great work. They had
- 30:46Speaker 6: three wins in total and they took out the trophy
- 30:49Speaker 6: at the end as well. They came down, they came
- 30:50Speaker 6: to Hector Black.
- 30:51Speaker 3: Wow.
- 30:52Speaker 6: We had a big night. Let me tell you what
- 30:54Speaker 6: a big night that was.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Yeah, nice, nice.
- 30:58Speaker 4: So that's Hector Blacks and Timidoo there, which Tim runs,
- 31:00Speaker 4: and that's where he runs the bird racing out of.
- 31:02Speaker 4: So that bird, every week there's a video that goes
- 31:04Speaker 4: up and it says, Tim reads out who's placed where.
- 31:07Speaker 4: That stupid bird won it three times and would place
- 31:10Speaker 4: and stuff. They've made, I don't know, like $ 1, 500 out
- 31:14Speaker 4: of that $ 400 bird.
- 31:15Speaker 1: Like, that's awesome.
- 31:16Speaker 6: No, no, more like $ 3, 000, guys.
- 31:18Speaker 3: Yeah, $ 3, 000.
- 31:18Speaker 1: Three wins is $ 1, 000 a pop, plus all the places
- 31:21Speaker 1: it got as well. So, yeah. Holy shit. Yeah.
- 31:24Speaker 4: Meanwhile, my bird, Keezy on all wings, looking over his
- 31:26Speaker 4: beak with me. Keezy's brought home $ 100.
- 31:27Speaker 1: You got a 25% discount on your fee.
- 31:29Speaker 3: Can I ask if this standout bird here, Tim, has
- 31:33Speaker 3: been drug tested?
- 31:35Speaker 6: Absolutely, all birds went through a drag test, and yours
- 31:38Speaker 6: as well. Maybe in the earlier races that was the issue.
- 31:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:43Speaker 3: Not enough drugs.
- 31:45Speaker 1: Yeah, well, too much of the wrong ones. Well, look, Tim,
- 31:48Speaker 1: I'm stoked, mate.
- 31:49Speaker 4: I've got $ 100 to play with. We'll discuss what we
- 31:52Speaker 4: do with that next, fellas. But, Tim, thank you so
- 31:54Speaker 4: much for organising everything, mate, and enjoy that extra $ 300
- 31:57Speaker 4: that you've taken off me.
- 32:00Speaker 6: Yeah, congratulations, guys. Well done. Really appreciate it.
- 32:02Speaker 1: Good on you, mate. Backbone.
- 32:05Speaker 5: Eh?
- 32:05Speaker 3: Yeah, good stuff.
- 32:06Speaker 1: Well, look, I mean, it's not nothing. You know what
- 32:08Speaker 1: I mean? Well, it's a nice little injection for me. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 32:11Speaker 1: I could do with a little bit of extra money.
- 32:12Speaker 1: That's good stuff. No, okay, we've got to discuss this.
- 32:14Speaker 3: I'll tell you what, actually, that's probably a night of
- 32:16Speaker 3: re-burger for me.
- 32:17Speaker 1: Yep.
- 32:18Speaker 4: We're discussing this, fellas, because, nah, no way.
- 32:22Speaker 3: There's Lincoln Park.
- 32:23Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 32:27Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 32:29Speaker 5: Keezy on all wings looking over his beak with me. Keezy.
- 32:37Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the name of my racing pigeon. Hard cut
- 32:39Speaker 4: from Lincoln Park there.
- 32:41Speaker 5: Yeah, man.
- 32:41Speaker 1: Into that excellent sting.
- 32:43Speaker 4: So we just found out final race of the season
- 32:45Speaker 4: that my racing pigeon down in the South Island there.
- 32:48Speaker 4: I finished 11th out of 115 birds, and if you
- 32:51Speaker 4: finish in the top 15, you get money.
- 32:53Speaker 1: Wow. 11th gets $ 100.
- 32:55Speaker 4: Now, fellas, you've been giving me a lot of jerk
- 32:58Speaker 4: about this bird, and you refuse to actually.
- 32:59Speaker 1: Only because it sucks. Well, yeah, and it did suck. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 33:03Speaker 3: I wasn't happy, you know, having put the money in. No.
- 33:06Speaker 1: No, that's the one I want to talk about.
- 33:08Speaker 3: At the results. Obviously. What a stupid thing to do.
- 33:13Speaker 1: You didn't put any money in, man. That's what I'm saying.
- 33:15Speaker 4: So now that it's in the money, you guys can't
- 33:17Speaker 4: come sniffing around for it because, Mike, you wouldn't buy
- 33:19Speaker 4: in either.
- 33:20Speaker 1: Yeah, but only because it sucks.
- 33:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:23Speaker 1: But now it's good. So I'm keen. Do you want
- 33:25Speaker 1: to buy in? Yeah. Okay, well, it's $ 100.
- 33:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:30Speaker 4: Okay, do you want the $ 100?
- 33:32Speaker 1: No, I just sort of think that it seems, I
- 33:36Speaker 1: don't know what the word is, Jason, evil for Keezy
- 33:40Speaker 1: to deprive us of the sheer joy that this victory
- 33:43Speaker 1: brings because we've been doing content around this now for weeks.
- 33:46Speaker 6: Yes.
- 33:46Speaker 1: And it feels like, well, what do we get out
- 33:48Speaker 1: of it? And it sort of feels like it should be,
- 33:50Speaker 1: you know, 50 bucks each.
- 33:54Speaker 3: I always find it really interesting how people react sometimes
- 33:58Speaker 3: when the money comes in.
- 33:59Speaker 1: How things change. Don't they? Thank you.
- 34:02Speaker 3: Don't they just?
- 34:03Speaker 1: Look at how you've changed, Casey. You've won 100 bucks.
- 34:06Speaker 1: And I don't even recognise you anymore.
- 34:08Speaker 3: What do you mean?
- 34:08Speaker 1: It's me, old Keezy.
- 34:09Speaker 3: All I can see is dollar bill signs in your eyeballs.
- 34:13Speaker 1: Oh, have I got that?
- 34:15Speaker 3: There's another thing you need to consider too as your agent.
- 34:18Speaker 5: What?
- 34:18Speaker 3: Any earnings you make, I get a 15% cut off. Yes.
- 34:21Speaker 4: Earnings in the realm of like media and stuff and
- 34:24Speaker 4: jobs that you get me.
- 34:25Speaker 3: Excuse me. Have we been doing media on this?
- 34:29Speaker 1: He's got you there. He's done you. So we've been
- 34:31Speaker 1: talking about it on the radio show. Well, hang on.
- 34:34Speaker 4: If that was true, then you'd be getting a percentage
- 34:35Speaker 4: of my radio contract as well.
- 34:37Speaker 3: Oh, and I do. Really? Yeah, yeah, because whatever you
- 34:41Speaker 3: think you're earning, add another 50K on there, Keezy. Wow, 60K.
- 34:46Speaker 1: Okay, well, now hang on. You guys didn't buy in. No. Okay,
- 34:50Speaker 1: I bought, I spent 400 bucks. Absolutely not, but again, Keezy,
- 34:53Speaker 1: only because it sucks. And we were proved right week
- 34:56Speaker 1: after week after week after week. So our instincts were
- 34:59Speaker 1: completely correct. But what a great way to end it,
- 35:02Speaker 1: on a high.
- 35:02Speaker 5: Yes.
- 35:02Speaker 1: $ 50 each.
- 35:04Speaker 5: What?
- 35:04Speaker 1: That's not how it works.
- 35:06Speaker 3: I'm stoked.
- 35:07Speaker 1: I couldn't be happier because I really thought there was
- 35:09Speaker 1: no chance that it was going to win anything at all.
- 35:11Speaker 1: And yet here we are, $ 50 each. Stop saying $ 50.
- 35:14Speaker 3: How about this? How about this? I take you all out.
- 35:19Speaker 3: for a bit of a feed.
- 35:20Speaker 1: You take everyone out.
- 35:21Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 35:22Speaker 1: So you take the credit.
- 35:22Speaker 3: So we can use my, and I'm sure Mogi would
- 35:25Speaker 3: be the same.
- 35:26Speaker 1: Yeah, man, absolutely.
- 35:27Speaker 3: You'd be happy to use your 50 for us all
- 35:29Speaker 3: to go have a feed.
- 35:29Speaker 1: Keezy, I'm more than happy to let you share in
- 35:32Speaker 1: the winnings, man. Totally. Share in the spoils.
- 35:34Speaker 3: Really?
- 35:35Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 35:35Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 35:36Speaker 3: Totally, man.
- 35:37Speaker 1: Okay, thanks, fellas. Guys, it does feel good to get
- 35:41Speaker 1: some cash, doesn't it?
- 35:41Speaker 5: Oh, man.
- 35:42Speaker 1: For you guys to treat me lunch.
- 35:43Speaker 5: Lunch?
- 35:43Speaker 1: Are you thinking lunch?
- 35:45Speaker 3: Oh.
- 35:46Speaker 1: Well, no, hang on.
- 35:47Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 35:51Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 35:53Speaker 3: Jane's Addiction there on the Hodaki Big Show this Tuesday evening,
- 35:57Speaker 3: the time 5.57.
- 35:59Speaker 4: Fellas, on Friday we gave away, well Tony who was
- 36:02Speaker 4: hosting our show, he gave away two barbecues to a
- 36:04Speaker 4: chap named Blaine.
- 36:06Speaker 5: Really?
- 36:06Speaker 4: Yeah, his old barbecue he got off the street for free.
- 36:09Speaker 4: So we hooked him up with two brand new ones.
- 36:11Speaker 4: And when I say we, I mean Hodaki and also
- 36:13Speaker 4: Trade Tested. We're running a competition with them once again.
- 36:17Speaker 4: It's called Big Deck Energy. All you have to do

- 36:24Speaker 4: around two and a half grand's worth of stuff. Don't
- 36:26Speaker 4: go over that two and a half grand sort of
- 36:28Speaker 4: buffer there. Then screenshot that shopping list, head to hodaki.co.nz,
- 36:34Speaker 4: give it to us.
- 36:35Speaker 1: You're in the draw.
- 36:35Speaker 4: We could be calling someone this Friday and giving away
- 36:37Speaker 4: two and a half grand's worth of stuff. It's all
- 36:39Speaker 4: stuff for your deck, barbecues, backyard stuff.

- 37:10Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 37:12Speaker 3: Welcome back MS of Backbones. Hope your Tuesday night's absolutely
- 37:16Speaker 3: going off. You're listening to The Big Show, incidentally, brought
- 37:19Speaker 3: to you by Reburgier.
- 37:21Speaker 4: Serving good times and good food. Dine in or take
- 37:23Speaker 4: away Reburgier today.
- 37:25Speaker 3: The name's burger. Dish, dish, dish. Reburgier.
- 37:32Speaker 1: Great stuff.
- 37:34Speaker 3: Any idea, Mogi, what's on the plate tonight at the
- 37:37Speaker 3: Mogi household?
- 37:38Speaker 1: No idea whatsoever, mate. I've had a little muslin curry today. Oh, yes, nice.
- 37:44Speaker 1: Which was a leftover from last night. A few patatis
- 37:46Speaker 1: in there. Your favourite tofu there as well, jizz. And
- 37:50Speaker 1: scoff that up. That got me through two meals today.
- 37:53Speaker 1: So that's good eating. God knows what's going to be
- 37:55Speaker 1: waiting for me at home.
- 37:57Speaker 3: Yeah, what about you, Kesey?
- 37:59Speaker 1: God only knows, Mogi.
- 38:00Speaker 3: Party beef lasagna still?
- 38:03Speaker 4: Well, I'm going to be honest. Last night, we were
- 38:05Speaker 4: supposed to have a hearty beef lasagna, like leftovers.
- 38:07Speaker 5: Right.
- 38:08Speaker 4: And we just literally sat down. We're just like, I
- 38:09Speaker 4: can't eat any more lasagna.
- 38:10Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 38:11Speaker 1: Because I've just eaten so much lasagna. Because I made
- 38:13Speaker 1: a big portion. Yeah, you did. So we ended up
- 38:15Speaker 1: getting takeout. How would you have?
- 38:17Speaker 3: No, no.
- 38:18Speaker 1: I want to talk about this tomorrow on the show. Okay, okay.
- 38:20Speaker 1: This particular takeout. Okay.
- 38:22Speaker 4: But tonight, we're having, I think, chicken enchiladas or something.
- 38:25Speaker 3: Enchilada!
- 38:28Speaker 1: That's the one. What are you having, Jase?
- 38:31Speaker 3: I tell you, it was very exciting last night. I
- 38:33Speaker 3: cooked my wife some salmon and some duck fat potatoes
- 38:37Speaker 3: and a nice green salad. But listen.
- 38:39Speaker 1: Have you got a duck?
- 38:41Speaker 3: Yeah, I just give it a squeeze into the pan.
- 38:43Speaker 1: You use so much duck. Do you just rub a
- 38:46Speaker 1: naked duck around the hot pan?
- 38:47Speaker 3: I tell you what, man. I have totally nailed the
- 38:50Speaker 3: old crispy roast potatoes.
- 38:52Speaker 1: Do you remember when Jase had a duck living with him?
- 38:54Speaker 5: Yes, I do.
- 38:55Speaker 1: And now he's using duck fat?
- 38:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:57Speaker 1: Disgraceful.
- 38:58Speaker 3: But I cooked a salmon, and for the first time,
- 39:00Speaker 3: I successfully got a crispy skin on my.
- 39:03Speaker 1: You're not allowed to do that.
- 39:04Speaker 3: Well, you know, last night it was perfection. Tonight we're
- 39:08Speaker 3: having my.
- 39:09Speaker 1: Duck fat goose.
- 39:10Speaker 3: My wife's homemade fried rice, which is pretty good, actually.
- 39:15Speaker 5: Oh, no.
- 39:16Speaker 3: And chicken skewers with salsa.
- 39:19Speaker 4: You know what makes chicken skewers bloody good?
- 39:21Speaker 1: A hack?
- 39:23Speaker 3: Duck fat?
- 39:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 39:27Speaker 3: Hey, keep those texts. coming, by the way, for what's
- 39:31Speaker 3: on the dinner with me, Keezy, in the meantime. Here's
- 39:34Speaker 3: a bit of Velvet Revolver.
- 39:36Speaker 1: 3483.
- 39:39Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune

- 40:24Speaker 1: The cyclist.
- 40:25Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 40:25Speaker 1: Sarah Ulmerapiti.
- 40:27Speaker 3: How awesome was she, by the way?
- 40:28Speaker 1: She was good at riding the bicycle, wasn't she? She
- 40:30Speaker 1: was very good on a bicycle.
- 40:32Speaker 3: I always remember her winning the gold and being in
- 40:34Speaker 3: what they call oxygen deficit after the race, where she
- 40:38Speaker 3: was just like heaving on the side after the finish line.
- 40:42Speaker 1: What a backbite.
- 40:43Speaker 3: Powerful stuff.
- 40:44Speaker 5: G'day, guys.
- 40:45Speaker 4: Sarah Jessica Parker here.
- 40:47Speaker 1: Oh.
- 40:50Speaker 4: We've got homemade calzone, ham, and Mediterranean veg on the
- 40:54Speaker 4: menu tonight.
- 40:55Speaker 1: I've never had a calzone. Calzone. Yeah, that's like a
- 40:58Speaker 1: pastry-type setup, isn't it?
- 40:59Speaker 4: It's like a pizza that you then fold in half
- 41:02Speaker 4: and seal, and all the.
- 41:03Speaker 1: Fillings are on the inside.
- 41:04Speaker 3: Oh, okay. That sounds bloody good, then.
- 41:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I know.
- 41:06Speaker 3: Why have I never eaten that?
- 41:08Speaker 1: I don't know, man. You've eaten everything else a billion times.
- 41:11Speaker 1: I feel like I have, but.
- 41:13Speaker 3: What's that about?
- 41:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know.
- 41:15Speaker 3: That sounds really good.
- 41:16Speaker 1: You like that?
- 41:16Speaker 3: Maybe a nice green salad on the side.
- 41:19Speaker 1: Mediterranean veg.
- 41:20Speaker 5: Oh, right, yeah.
- 41:20Speaker 1: By the way, the Mediterranean, Jase, is a C in Europe.
- 41:24Speaker 3: Oh, okay.
- 41:24Speaker 1: Mediterranean C. G'day, guys. Leighton here.
- 41:29Speaker 5: Hewitt.
- 41:31Speaker 1: That's the one. Sausage surprise. Oh, surprise. Surprise. It tastes
- 41:38Speaker 1: like shit. G'day, guys. Nick here. Oh, what's his name there?
- 41:45Speaker 3: Kyrgios.
- 41:46Speaker 1: Kyrgios. That's the one I was thinking of. It's Nick Kyrgios.
- 41:49Speaker 5: Kyrgios.
- 41:50Speaker 3: Kyrgios. Pardon? G'day, guys.
- 41:52Speaker 4: Nick Kyrgios here. Baked beans on toast.
- 41:55Speaker 1: Nah.
- 41:56Speaker 3: Nothing wrong with that.
- 41:58Speaker 1: I love it. I love baked beans.
- 41:59Speaker 3: As long as it's white toast. All right? That's my only.
- 42:02Speaker 1: You're always stressing that, eh?
- 42:04Speaker 3: White toast. It's got to be white.
- 42:06Speaker 1: God, banging on about it.
- 42:08Speaker 3: And I like to chop a little bit of bacon
- 42:10Speaker 3: in there, too, if I have a bit of bacon.
- 42:12Speaker 1: Oh, rich guy. Rich guy, eh?
- 42:13Speaker 3: Rich guy.
- 42:14Speaker 1: Cost of living. Ain't touching hoity-toity.
- 42:16Speaker 3: And just finish it off with a little lobster tail.
- 42:18Speaker 5: G'day, guys.
- 42:19Speaker 3: Lee here.
- 42:20Speaker 1: Harvey Oswald.
- 42:20Speaker 5: Lee here.
- 42:21Speaker 1: Jessica. G'day, guys.
- 42:25Speaker 4: Jessica Lee here. Sweet and sour vegan chicken.
- 42:40Speaker 3: Oh, no.
- 42:41Speaker 1: What the hell is vegan chicken? You know, I used
- 42:47Speaker 1: to do that sort of stuff. I used to be
- 42:49Speaker 1: eating that stuff. There's a whole bunch of different ones.
- 42:52Speaker 1: They make some in New Zealand. It was actually, I
- 42:54Speaker 1: say it was really good. It was really good enough,
- 42:56Speaker 1: you know, to make you feel like you were getting
- 42:58Speaker 1: the meats.
- 42:59Speaker 6: Yes.
- 42:59Speaker 1: But in hindsight, you know, God knows what it's made of.
- 43:03Speaker 5: No.
- 43:04Speaker 1: You know, and I don't.
- 43:05Speaker 3: Neither.
- 43:06Speaker 5: Neither.
- 43:07Speaker 4: What about this one here? It doesn't say who the
- 43:10Speaker 4: person is, but it's very.
- 43:12Speaker 1: Detailed, all right? Go on. G'day, guys.
- 43:15Speaker 4: Tonight we're having leftover chicken and bacon nachos. Layered that
- 43:19Speaker 4: in a dish, then made a solid mash with seasoned cumin, paprika,
- 43:23Speaker 4: garlic powder, spring onion, sour cream, and chive dip, and
- 43:26Speaker 4: lots of butter. Three layers of three different types of cheese, baked,
- 43:30Speaker 4: served with salsa, guacamole, and sour cream.
- 43:37Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 43:40Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 43:47Speaker 3: Smashing pumpkins on the Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday evening.
- 43:51Speaker 3: The time is 6.27. Now, listen, fellas. Our good mates
- 43:55Speaker 3: at Emerson's Brewery are back on board with the big show,
- 43:58Speaker 3: and they've sent us some of their spanking brand-new sweatshirts.
- 44:02Speaker 3: They're bloody good.
- 44:03Speaker 1: Gorgeous.
- 44:04Speaker 3: They're really bloody good.
- 44:06Speaker 4: The new hoodies.
- 44:07Speaker 2: Yes, man.
- 44:07Speaker 4: These are, of course, celebrating the Dunedin Craft Beer and
- 44:10Speaker 4: Food Festival, which is back again. It's happening tomorrow. November
- 44:13Speaker 4: 27th and 28th. That is a Friday and a Saturday.
- 44:16Speaker 4: It's at Forsyth Bar Stadium. And to celebrate the event,
- 44:18Speaker 4: they've made a beer, but it just needs a name, fellas.
- 44:21Speaker 1: I think.
- 44:24Speaker 3: I'll have myself a beer.
- 44:28Speaker 2: The Radio Hodaki Big Show. Name our beer.
- 44:31Speaker 4: There's a lot going on there, isn't there?
- 44:33Speaker 1: Yeah, there is. It's very confusing.
- 44:35Speaker 4: The way you win one of these hoodies is very easy.
- 44:37Speaker 1: You text us 3483. Name the beer.
- 44:40Speaker 4: It is a Tropical Hazy IPA. We've already got some
- 44:44Speaker 4: great suggestions coming through, fellas. We've had word from Emerson's,
- 44:48Speaker 4: by the way. Their favourite one so far is Hazy Bastard.
- 44:51Speaker 5: Oh, really?
- 44:52Speaker 1: Yeah, for some reason they really like that one.
- 44:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:54Speaker 4: But keep the text coming.
- 44:55Speaker 1: I like that one.
- 44:56Speaker 4: And we've got a few hoodies to dish out tonight
- 44:58Speaker 4: and tomorrow and the next day as well.
- 45:00Speaker 1: What about this one? I was thinking about this one, Keeley.
- 45:01Speaker 1: Can I do one, man? Yeah, of course, man. Wet Dreams.
- 45:05Speaker 1: Wet Dream. Because it's wet like beer, and it's dreamy,
- 45:11Speaker 1: it's delicious like beer. Wet Dream. What do you think
- 45:14Speaker 1: of that, Jase? Because I hate it. What do you think?
- 45:18Speaker 3: I think it's bang on.
- 45:21Speaker 4: I'll give that name a 6 out of 10. Looking
- 45:25Speaker 4: at the text, Virginia3483, how about this for your beer?
- 45:30Speaker 4: What's on the beers with.
- 45:31Speaker 5: Me, Hazy?
- 45:33Speaker 3: Mm-hmm. Moving on.
- 45:36Speaker 5: Shitter.
- 45:38Speaker 4: The Big Show Breakfast Special. Is that a shitter?
- 45:42Speaker 1: Hey, Evan, are you there? Yeah, mate. That was your one,
- 45:46Speaker 1: wasn't it?
- 45:47Speaker 6: Yeah, I did wonder how that one was going to go.
- 45:49Speaker 1: Which one was it again? Give it to me one
- 45:52Speaker 1: more time, Evan. What's on the beers with me?
- 45:55Speaker 3: Hazy.
- 45:56Speaker 1: Shit.
- 45:57Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a shocking one.
- 45:58Speaker 1: No, that's a good one, man.
- 45:59Speaker 3: I'm almost tempted to not give him a sweatshirt.
- 46:01Speaker 1: No, Evan, you've got yourself a sweatshirt, brother. Come on, Jase,
- 46:05Speaker 1: it's pretty cold in Auckland tonight.
- 46:06Speaker 3: Yeah, it is, man.
- 46:07Speaker 5: You're right.
- 46:07Speaker 3: Actually, they are bloody nice sweatshirts, mate, so you'll enjoy that.
- 46:12Speaker 1: And you're absolutely right. It is cold in Auckland. I'm
- 46:14Speaker 1: going to be wearing one of the sweatshirts myself on
- 46:17Speaker 1: my walk home because she's a freezing bastard. Actually, Evan, just.
- 46:21Speaker 4: Before we dish you your sweatshirt, man, what do you
- 46:22Speaker 4: do for a crust?
- 46:25Speaker 6: I work in financial services, guys.
- 46:28Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, how good.
- 46:29Speaker 1: Sounds like you're some kind of a rip-off merchant. Are
- 46:32Speaker 1: you a loan shark, Evan? Are you a shocking bastard?
- 46:35Speaker 6: I'm definitely not that, mate.
- 46:37Speaker 1: I'm a man of the people. I feel like he's
- 46:39Speaker 1: hiding something, Evan, I've got to say.
- 46:40Speaker 4: All right, Evan, you've got yourself Emerson's hoodie, mate. You
- 46:42Speaker 4: hold the line all right?
- 46:44Speaker 6: Thanks, guys.
- 46:44Speaker 1: Good on you, mate.
- 46:46Speaker 3: Yeah, good stuff.
- 46:46Speaker 1: Nothing personal against old Evan there. It's just, you know, backbone, backbone,
- 46:50Speaker 1: hashtag backbone, but, you know, shocking bastard. I love that call-up.
- 46:54Speaker 1: The name you came up with was shit, and your
- 46:56Speaker 1: job sounds shit.
- 46:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:58Speaker 1: I didn't say that. It sounds like he's up to
- 47:01Speaker 1: no good. Financial services, you know? What are we doing?
- 47:04Speaker 3: Now, if you just give me $ 85, 000, I'll invest it
- 47:08Speaker 3: in this for you, and then I'll be off to Bali.
- 47:11Speaker 4: All right, just a few more here. Fellas, that's why
- 47:13Speaker 4: we've got a lot of them.
- 47:15Speaker 1: Fellas? They want to call it Fellas?
- 47:17Speaker 5: No.
- 47:17Speaker 1: That's from Linz. Okay, just because a pint of Fellas. G'day, Fellas.
- 47:22Speaker 1: Is it Fellas or Fellas? Fellas. Why do you prefer Phallus?
- 47:29Speaker 1: Do you enjoy... G'day, guys. Dino here.
- 47:32Speaker 4: What about what's in the hazy bottle with.
- 47:34Speaker 1: Me, Bearzy? The key thing they miss in there is
- 47:38Speaker 1: it's got to mention Keezy.
- 47:39Speaker 3: Keezy, yes.
- 47:40Speaker 1: Well, no, it doesn't at all. It does. No, it doesn't.
- 47:44Speaker 1: What about Big Show Breakfast? The best way to start
- 47:47Speaker 1: the day. What? Because we were on breakfast recently. Who
- 47:51Speaker 1: was that? Was that Evan again? Dish.
- 47:57Speaker 3: Dish. But ACDC?
- 47:58Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 48:03Speaker 2: in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaki.
- 48:12Speaker 3: Well, there you go, you man bastards. That's your Tuesday
- 48:15Speaker 3: show done and dusted. In the podcast outro, otherwise now
- 48:21Speaker 3: known as the disclaimer, we chatted... I have no idea.
- 48:25Speaker 3: What's the clip, Keezy?
- 48:27Speaker 4: This chat comes out at 7.30 tonight, wherever you get
- 48:30Speaker 4: your podcasts from, and this particular clip is about the cops.
- 48:35Speaker 4: My wife was like, I feel like I would enjoy
- 48:39Speaker 4: being a police person.
- 48:40Speaker 1: Who said that? My wife.
- 48:42Speaker 4: And then I was like, we were watching Highway Patrol.
- 48:45Speaker 4: And then instantly an officer was getting confronted by this
- 48:48Speaker 4: person who was very angry and being very offensive and
- 48:50Speaker 4: very racist. And I was like, so you'd deal with that?
- 48:53Speaker 4: She said, oh, maybe not that sort of stuff. And
- 48:54Speaker 4: I'm like, that's 1960s stuff.
- 48:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 48:58Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just funny chit-chat about my wife there.
- 49:00Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 49:01Speaker 1: She's funny, eh, guys? Yeah, she is very funny. Bit
- 49:03Speaker 1: of a character.
- 49:04Speaker 3: I actually think she'd be a good cop.
- 49:06Speaker 1: And I'd be a bad cop?
- 49:07Speaker 3: Yes.
- 49:09Speaker 1: No, like as in good cop. I'd be a good
- 49:11Speaker 1: police officer if I was a.
- 49:12Speaker 3: I don't know. nah I think you'd be hiding in
- 49:15Speaker 3: the bushes.
- 49:15Speaker 1: And And do what? As part of a sting operation?
- 49:18Speaker 3: I'll cover you. You go in and I'll cover you. Doosh, doosh, doosh, doosh.
- 49:22Speaker 1: My hamstring became.
- 49:24Speaker 3: It doesn't make any sense. Nogi, your plans for the night, please.
- 49:29Speaker 1: Well, walking home, man.
- 49:30Speaker 5: Yeah, same.
- 49:30Speaker 1: That's number one, but it's good because I get to
- 49:32Speaker 1: crack my 10,000 steps. You get addicted to the steps,
- 49:35Speaker 1: don't you?
- 49:35Speaker 5: You do.
- 49:35Speaker 3: You do a bit.
- 49:36Speaker 1: Yeah, which is good. It's better than being addicted to
- 49:38Speaker 1: other stuff, which I also am. Just for your information there. Same, same.
- 49:43Speaker 1: And I'm feeling a bit under the weather, and it
- 49:45Speaker 1: occurs to me that I haven't been sick all year,
- 49:47Speaker 1: which is unlike me. I normally get the flu a
- 49:50Speaker 1: few times and a whole bunch of other things, my
- 49:53Speaker 1: nasals thingies. Yeah, they pack in. Been good as gold
- 49:56Speaker 1: this year, so I'm hoping surely, surely, we're nearly in October,
- 50:00Speaker 1: surely the flu season is finishing up now.
- 50:03Speaker 5: Surely.
- 50:03Speaker 1: Maybe you just need a bloody good sleep. Yeah, well,
- 50:05Speaker 1: I wouldn't mind that. I wouldn't mind that. What can
- 50:07Speaker 1: you do about that? Circadian rhythm stuff.
- 50:11Speaker 3: Maybe.
- 50:11Speaker 1: We'll chat about it tomorrow.
- 50:12Speaker 3: Why don't you go over and give him a bit
- 50:13Speaker 3: of a rub down before he.
- 50:14Speaker 1: Goes to sleep?
- 50:15Speaker 3: That's true.
- 50:15Speaker 1: Why don't you? That's a good question. Why don't you
- 50:17Speaker 1: give me a rub down? What the hell does that mean?
- 50:19Speaker 1: Like a massage?
- 50:20Speaker 5: Yes.
- 50:21Speaker 1: Like a massage. Exactly a massage.
- 50:22Speaker 4: Drive to Mogi's house, give him a massage.
- 50:24Speaker 3: Yes. And then he can nod off.
- 50:26Speaker 1: We could just zoom it. Did you say nod off?
- 50:28Speaker 1: We could just do a zoom to start. Okay. Cool.
- 50:32Speaker 1: Are you going to ask me what I'm doing?
- 50:33Speaker 3: What are you doing, Keezy?
- 50:34Speaker 1: Eating enchiladas. Yeah, yeah. Giving Mogi a massage. Rubbing down Mogi.
- 50:38Speaker 3: Yeah, good.
- 50:39Speaker 1: And then eating an enchilada. Yeah, nice. If you know
- 50:44Speaker 1: what I mean. Totally, totally. What are you doing, Jase?
- 50:46Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a good question, actually.
- 50:48Speaker 1: No, it's not.
- 50:49Speaker 5: No, wait.
- 50:49Speaker 1: No, it's not.
- 50:50Speaker 3: Wait. All right, just check out the podcast. Check out
- 50:53Speaker 3: the Instagram. We'll be back tomorrow. Until then, goodbye.
- 50:56Speaker 5: Bye.
- 51:01Speaker 1: Thank you.
