- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is spoil Me,
- 0:08Speaker 1: covering one Piece episodes eight twenty six through eight twenty eight.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Sanji comes back, crash the tea party from Hell, a
- 0:19Speaker 1: secret meeting Loufy versus the fire Tank Pirates, and the
- 0:24Speaker 1: deadly packed Loofy and Beij's allied forces. In these episodes,
- 0:34Speaker 1: Loofy is deciding to put away his personal feelings regarding
- 0:40Speaker 1: Beget and sign up with him to double cross Big Mom.
- 0:48Speaker 1: But does it count as a double cross coming from
- 0:50Speaker 1: Luvi when that was his whole thing? Anyway, I kind
- 0:56Speaker 1: of I don't know what to expect here. Welcome to
- 1:00Speaker 1: spoil Me, Welcome to the show everyone. I am Natasha.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Thank you very much to Florian for commissioning this episode.
- 1:27Speaker 1: This is a this is a very surprising direction things
- 1:34Speaker 1: are taking. I'm a big fan of this reveal. I
- 1:38Speaker 1: didn't consider because you guys know that, like in the
- 1:43Speaker 1: last recording with Florian, I was saying that a part
- 1:47Speaker 1: of me had wondered if maybe Sanji's family was planning
- 1:51Speaker 1: on double crossing Big Mom, and so there was possibly
- 1:56Speaker 1: going to be a kind of crossed wires situation with
- 2:00Speaker 1: everybody trying to double cross everybody else. But I didn't
- 2:04Speaker 1: even think of the concept that somebody outside of the
- 2:10Speaker 1: two families that are directly involved here would be part
- 2:14Speaker 1: of the double crossing. It just it didn't occur to
- 2:17Speaker 1: me as a possibility. So I'm kind of like, I
- 2:24Speaker 1: approve because throwing more chaos into this, I think is
- 2:27Speaker 1: one of the only ways that you're going to get
- 2:29Speaker 1: this situation sort of what you need to do if
- 2:32Speaker 1: you are this out of control of the situation is
- 2:39Speaker 1: you have got to make it so that Big Mom
- 2:42Speaker 1: is also not in control somehow. And the only way
- 2:47Speaker 1: to do that that I can think of, because she's
- 2:51Speaker 1: so powerful and she has such a lock on the
- 2:53Speaker 1: location and the people in the on the island surrounding it,
- 2:57Speaker 1: is to hit her with a surprise attack from an
- 3:02Speaker 1: Like an attack from the people who are on Soanjy's side,
- 3:05Speaker 1: whether you mean his family or the straw Hass would
- 3:08Speaker 1: be expected, but coming from BEGGI is like the I
- 3:14Speaker 1: don't know, maybe she did predict it. It's hard for
- 3:17Speaker 1: me to know exactly how much info she's working with,
- 3:21Speaker 1: but it feels like, out of the options, this is
- 3:24Speaker 1: a pretty good one, you know. I don't know. I guess,
- 3:28Speaker 1: I guess we'll have to see. So let's start off
- 3:32Speaker 1: with Sanji comes back, and it's like, you know, the
- 3:37Speaker 1: name of it is Crashed the Tea Party from Hell,
- 3:40Speaker 1: which really makes it sound like we are crashing this
- 3:44Speaker 1: tea party. And unfortunately, I got my hopes up that
- 3:48Speaker 1: we were about to like fucking do the thing, and
- 3:52Speaker 1: it's not. That's not what's happening in this episode, and
- 3:55Speaker 1: I feel like it's a real misnomer, and I don't
- 4:01Speaker 1: I would not be surprised if I wasn't the only
- 4:03Speaker 1: one who sort of went into it with an expectation
- 4:06Speaker 1: only to be like, oh, so we're not even doing
- 4:09Speaker 1: that this time? Why did you call it that? But
- 4:12Speaker 1: we start off the episode with Lufy and Soanjy still
- 4:17Speaker 1: next to the body of King Boum, which I hadn't
- 4:20Speaker 1: even like clocked that that's where they were sitting until
- 4:22Speaker 1: Florian says in the last episode, and there's a moment
- 4:28Speaker 1: here of Soanjy like thinking about everybody that he has
- 4:33Speaker 1: put in danger by coming here, and he feels a
- 4:37Speaker 1: lot of shame surrounding the fact that like everybody is
- 4:44Speaker 1: in this mess because of him. Which I mean, it's like,
- 4:49Speaker 1: it's technically, I guess true, but it's just so not
- 4:53Speaker 1: his fault at all that I just want to pat
- 4:56Speaker 1: him on the head and be like, sweetie, nobody feels
- 4:59Speaker 1: this way. It's okay. And yet despite the fact that, like,
- 5:06Speaker 1: I don't think that he is right about that, we
- 5:09Speaker 1: do have a surprising reaction from Nammy. And I say surprising.
- 5:14Speaker 1: It may not be surprising to you anyone else, but
- 5:18Speaker 1: I am on record as having said that I think
- 5:21Speaker 1: that Nami will pretty much get over it. And it's
- 5:25Speaker 1: not untrue. It's she does set aside what's been going
- 5:33Speaker 1: on with them personally because she is she's eyes on
- 5:38Speaker 1: the prize as always. That's just her mo, right, So
- 5:43Speaker 1: it is true that she decides to sort of like
- 5:47Speaker 1: prioritize what we need to get done right now. And
- 5:51Speaker 1: let's just not even think about the implications of the
- 5:54Speaker 1: way that, you know, you turned on us for a second,
- 5:57Speaker 1: even though it's a really interesting thing to ask this
- 6:03Speaker 1: question for me, because you could say that Sanji was
- 6:12Speaker 1: kind of being what's the word I want, not truthful exactly,
- 6:21Speaker 1: but that Soanji's attempt to put off the straw hats
- 6:28Speaker 1: is was actually sincere that he was trying to get
- 6:33Speaker 1: away from them and get them out of his hair
- 6:38Speaker 1: for their own sakes, granted out of fear for them.
- 6:43Speaker 1: But nevertheless, I almost said, you know, Sanji was only pretending,
- 6:50Speaker 1: and he was pretending, but it wasn't like I was
- 6:54Speaker 1: only pretending until I could get to a point where
- 6:57Speaker 1: I could enact my plan, my alternative idea of how
- 7:00Speaker 1: we could handle this. It was fully like I am
- 7:04Speaker 1: pretending because I really want you to go away. I
- 7:09Speaker 1: really want you to get the fuck out of here.
- 7:12Speaker 1: And so I don't know if it counts as pretending
- 7:18Speaker 1: when a great deal of the motivating factors behind it
- 7:22Speaker 1: were sincere. You know what I'm saying, It's just a
- 7:27Speaker 1: different thing than like, oh, I was only pretending so
- 7:30Speaker 1: that I could double cross them, Like that's not really
- 7:31Speaker 1: what's happening there, though. You were pretending because you wanted
- 7:37Speaker 1: to save us, and you weren't really giving us a
- 7:41Speaker 1: choice in the matter, because we were already here and
- 7:44Speaker 1: you don't. You can't save us. That's not part of you,
- 7:49Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Like, that's not up to you.
- 7:51Speaker 1: We made the choice to come here, and you just
- 7:55Speaker 1: decided to sort of like pull the rug out from
- 7:58Speaker 1: under us. So I don't agree obviously with Nami's whole
- 8:06Speaker 1: attitude here, which is to say simply, I will never
- 8:09Speaker 1: forgive you. I am not feeling this way personally at all,
- 8:16Speaker 1: but I will say that I understand in a sense
- 8:24Speaker 1: where she's coming from. I think it's misguided. I think
- 8:28Speaker 1: that it's almost like her just being kind of protective
- 8:33Speaker 1: of Loofy in a way and just being like, how
- 8:36Speaker 1: could you do that to him? If you get what
- 8:38Speaker 1: I'm saying, which I do kind of respect, but I
- 8:43Speaker 1: just don't. I feel like he was doing something for
- 8:50Speaker 1: the good of the crew, he thought, because he was
- 8:54Speaker 1: aware of the danger that you guys were in in
- 8:58Speaker 1: a way that y'all weren't. You know, you decided to
- 9:01Speaker 1: come here. You made this choice, yes, but not with
- 9:04Speaker 1: full information, which I think is a pretty big distinction.
- 9:08Speaker 1: So while I get how she's feeling and where she's
- 9:12Speaker 1: coming from, and I can understand the feeling of like,
- 9:19Speaker 1: if you've got if you're so quick to just turn
- 9:21Speaker 1: your back on us like this, how what will happen
- 9:24Speaker 1: in the future. In the end, this was still him
- 9:29Speaker 1: trying to work to protect everybody, and it shows how much,
- 9:33Speaker 1: in my opinion, he cares about the straw hats. And
- 9:36Speaker 1: so what it comes down to finally is simply that
- 9:40Speaker 1: like he is prioritizing their well being, and that is
- 9:45Speaker 1: something that you want in a cohort as of like
- 9:51Speaker 1: with your partner in crime, you want them to be
- 9:55Speaker 1: very for real about prioritizing the well being of their people. So,
- 10:01Speaker 1: you know, I'm just I'm just saying, I really I'm
- 10:05Speaker 1: not mad at her for this at all, but I
- 10:07Speaker 1: just really do feel like it's sort of misguided and
- 10:11Speaker 1: that's fine. So the kind of bit that happens here,
- 10:19Speaker 1: which I found very funny because there was a part
- 10:21Speaker 1: of me that was not expecting this to work but
- 10:24Speaker 1: it does, is in the mirror world, Chopper has, you know,
- 10:29Speaker 1: this fragment of mirror that was like, I guess it
- 10:34Speaker 1: looks out on this it's like a piece of the
- 10:37Speaker 1: same mirror I think that was used to trap him
- 10:42Speaker 1: and Carrot, or that there was a piece of mirror
- 10:46Speaker 1: left mirror king bomb that they are aware of or whatever.
- 10:50Speaker 1: So he's like yelling into it, trying to get Lufy's attention,
- 10:54Speaker 1: and it actually works. Lufy hears his voice and just
- 10:57Speaker 1: sort of wanders around until he finally finds Chopper, which
- 11:02Speaker 1: I just was sort of thinking that it was going
- 11:05Speaker 1: to take a lot longer for Lufi to understand what
- 11:07Speaker 1: was happening here, and I was glad that we did
- 11:09Speaker 1: not have to sit through that because I, frankly don't
- 11:10Speaker 1: really have a lot of interest in that. And they
- 11:15Speaker 1: explain like the situation of everybody being in here and
- 11:21Speaker 1: everyone is safe, and this is when Nami says something
- 11:23Speaker 1: about how like I, but I am not going to
- 11:26Speaker 1: be able to forgive you so and we have that
- 11:29Speaker 1: like fun bit where she says this, and her eyes
- 11:33Speaker 1: get really dark the way they do in anime when
- 11:36Speaker 1: somebody is being kind of badass. And then there's like
- 11:39Speaker 1: an arrow that comes out of the mirror and jabs
- 11:45Speaker 1: Sanji right through the heart. And this was a line
- 11:50Speaker 1: that had me laughing so hard. You guys, she says
- 11:55Speaker 1: to Sanji, but we'll worry about that later. For now,
- 12:03Speaker 1: let's focus on what we need to do. I have
- 12:06Speaker 1: the rest of my life to resent you, to which
- 12:13Speaker 1: or Sanji replies, is that a marriage proposal? And you guys,
- 12:21Speaker 1: I fell out laughing so hard, because, like, there is
- 12:26Speaker 1: some truth to this whole interpretation in a way, and
- 12:31Speaker 1: it's you know, it's like just a fact. It's just
- 12:34Speaker 1: part of any long term relationship. There's going to be
- 12:37Speaker 1: a whole stretch of resentments that is sort of unavoidable
- 12:41Speaker 1: on a certain level, you know. But I lost my shit.
- 12:46Speaker 1: It was just not how he was so devastated a
- 12:50Speaker 1: second earlier with this arrow going right through his heart
- 12:53Speaker 1: that for him to follow it up with is that
- 12:57Speaker 1: a marriage proposal? It was I thought it was going
- 13:01Speaker 1: to be that he would follow it up with like
- 13:02Speaker 1: a plea for forgiven or something, you know what I mean.
- 13:06Speaker 1: And also I want to point out that like when
- 13:10Speaker 1: Lufy is saying, Okay, well we can get involved in this,
- 13:13Speaker 1: in this whole thing, he also Lufy is saying this,
- 13:19Speaker 1: and Sanchi interrupts and says, no, I'm not going to
- 13:22Speaker 1: risk Nami's any of your lives for mine. And I
- 13:27Speaker 1: just really appreciated that it was obvious he had been
- 13:32Speaker 1: gonna say just her life and then had to adjust
- 13:35Speaker 1: it and be like, no, no, no, it's about everybody. And
- 13:38Speaker 1: I take this with a grain of salt, because as
- 13:39Speaker 1: we have seen, he fully was trying to protect all
- 13:44Speaker 1: the straw hats this whole time. This was not ever
- 13:47Speaker 1: just about I would like to get my dick wet, please,
- 13:50Speaker 1: So I'm not mad at it. I just found it
- 13:52Speaker 1: funny because it's been a minute since we really got
- 13:55Speaker 1: to see him being his horn dogs self. And I
- 13:58Speaker 1: never thought I would say that I'm miss but I
- 14:01Speaker 1: guess I missed it. I guess I did, shocking to
- 14:06Speaker 1: me as well as anybody. So, oh, I'm so sorry
- 14:12Speaker 1: Seraphim is in the chat. Uh. There's a reason most
- 14:15Speaker 1: people don't pay attention to episode titles. Yeah, normally I
- 14:18Speaker 1: don't even watch the episode card, but for this one,
- 14:23Speaker 1: I did, And I think it was because my dogs
- 14:25Speaker 1: were sitting with me and I was very distracted, and
- 14:27Speaker 1: so I was I didn't like fast forward the way
- 14:30Speaker 1: that I usually do. He's a horn dog, but he's
- 14:34Speaker 1: our horn Dog's a Seraphim exactly. So they talk here
- 14:41Speaker 1: about the possibility of being able to throw in with
- 14:45Speaker 1: somebody else, and this is where Jimme gets, you know part.
- 14:51Speaker 1: He reveals what it is that Beggie was about to do,
- 14:57Speaker 1: and this is a the look. I have talked a
- 15:04Speaker 1: lot of shit about Jimbay and I stand by absolutely
- 15:12Speaker 1: all of it. But this is the first moment where
- 15:18Speaker 1: it's not really that he feels like a Diosex machina.
- 15:23Speaker 1: He's actually contributing something in terms of very like information
- 15:28Speaker 1: that is really valuable because the you know, the moment
- 15:33Speaker 1: of him like swooping in and saving our people. I
- 15:37Speaker 1: Am not going to say like that doesn't count for anything,
- 15:40Speaker 1: but it does feel, I admit, really really convenient in
- 15:44Speaker 1: a way that's almost eye rolling, especially when he has
- 15:49Speaker 1: just been so Mia and I have grown so bored
- 15:52Speaker 1: of him. For him to just like ultimately rescue and
- 15:58Speaker 1: in such a like you get what I'm saying, it
- 16:02Speaker 1: just felt sort of okay, so like we're giving him
- 16:05Speaker 1: something to do, but it still just kind of feels
- 16:09Speaker 1: like anybody could have shown and done this, but Jim
- 16:12Speaker 1: may here with this information. It's got a different energy
- 16:17Speaker 1: to it because we know that he is on allegedly
- 16:20Speaker 1: Big Mom's side, like he is part of her crew,
- 16:23Speaker 1: and that he would not have this information at all,
- 16:27Speaker 1: probably if he weren't one of her pirates. So he's
- 16:31Speaker 1: genuinely bringing something to the mix right now that is
- 16:36Speaker 1: a double agent. Like it feels like he's actually doing
- 16:43Speaker 1: the double agent thing, rather than simply falling into circumstances
- 16:49Speaker 1: that allow this to happen. I don't know if you
- 16:52Speaker 1: get what I'm saying, guys, but I just think that
- 16:55Speaker 1: it's different and it makes me appreciate him a little
- 16:59Speaker 1: bit more because I I have just really not given
- 17:01Speaker 1: a shit about him as we know. So this is
- 17:06Speaker 1: evidently the reason behind him shooting Peckhams, which like it
- 17:15Speaker 1: the whole thing on that cliff side and him shooting Peckhams.
- 17:19Speaker 1: I thought that this was like Peckhams was refusing to
- 17:23Speaker 1: cooperate with Big Moms somehow and turning on her. And
- 17:28Speaker 1: once we see him kind of working with the straw
- 17:31Speaker 1: Hats later, that feels valid that that's what was going
- 17:35Speaker 1: on there, and that he was like essentially turning his
- 17:40Speaker 1: back on Big Mom in favor of the the Mink
- 17:48Speaker 1: tribe because he feels that kinship with them, and to
- 17:52Speaker 1: a point, there is like a little bit of that
- 17:55Speaker 1: still in him obviously. But what it really was, as
- 18:00Speaker 1: it turns out, is Jim not Jim bay Begie is
- 18:06Speaker 1: coming to him with this plan that he's got and
- 18:09Speaker 1: it's like, hey, so do you want in? I'm gonna
- 18:13Speaker 1: totally turn on her and you know, try and take
- 18:17Speaker 1: this whole thing for myself, which considering the considering the
- 18:24Speaker 1: reputation that we find out that Begie has, isn't really
- 18:29Speaker 1: that surprising, you know, Like I have to wonder if
- 18:36Speaker 1: Big Mom doesn't see this coming, if she wasn't like,
- 18:39Speaker 1: if she's not aware his entire history has been all
- 18:44Speaker 1: about turning on people, taking people down. Does she She's
- 18:50Speaker 1: got to have like an inkling, I would imagine. I
- 18:55Speaker 1: don't know. In any case, Packham's fully was not on
- 19:03Speaker 1: board and just was like, dude, you don't even know
- 19:06Speaker 1: what you're saying. Are you serious? Like you don't stand
- 19:11Speaker 1: a chance. I don't feel like you get what it
- 19:14Speaker 1: is that you're even trying to do right now, like
- 19:17Speaker 1: what you're about to get into with her. I don't
- 19:20Speaker 1: get the sense that you fully grasp the scope of
- 19:24Speaker 1: the can of worms you're about to open. And that
- 19:28Speaker 1: is why Beggie got shot, and that is why Peckhams
- 19:32Speaker 1: is rescued by the fishmen because of falling over the
- 19:36Speaker 1: edge and YadA YadA. So this is Jimmey's you know, information,
- 19:44Speaker 1: and like you know now that I say this, the
- 19:46Speaker 1: information is that Jimbay doesn't even really get the info
- 19:51Speaker 1: from being insiders on Big Mom's group. It's really because
- 19:57Speaker 1: of this incident and the fishman who rescue Peckhams. So
- 20:01Speaker 1: I don't know if this even really counts, but whatever,
- 20:04Speaker 1: it's fine. And the like solution that Jim Bay comes
- 20:15Speaker 1: to here is simply, if we are going to try
- 20:22Speaker 1: and take Big momb down, we've got not a snowball's
- 20:28Speaker 1: chance in hell with just us. It's simply not going
- 20:32Speaker 1: to happen. And it's time that we look at this realistically.
- 20:38Speaker 1: So if we really want to, we are going to
- 20:41Speaker 1: have to get in bed with some people who have
- 20:44Speaker 1: questionable reputations and motives. And are we okay with that?
- 20:51Speaker 1: Is this something that we are going to be willing
- 20:53Speaker 1: to do? It's basically, are you going to compromise your
- 20:58Speaker 1: own integrity to get this done? In a sense? You know,
- 21:03Speaker 1: And it's a question that many people throughout the ages
- 21:07Speaker 1: have had to ask themselves. It comes up a lot,
- 21:11Speaker 1: you know, this idea of like, I can't accomplish this
- 21:15Speaker 1: thing without the help of people I fucking despise or
- 21:18Speaker 1: never thought I would have to align myself with or whatever,
- 21:22Speaker 1: and I really really wasn't sure if Lufy was going
- 21:29Speaker 1: to agree to this. It's it was sort of like,
- 21:35Speaker 1: Loofy is so willing to go to the mat for
- 21:40Speaker 1: his friends that a big part of me suspected, Yet
- 21:44Speaker 1: he'll do it, He's down with it. But there was
- 21:47Speaker 1: also another part of me that felt like Loofy is
- 21:53Speaker 1: also like very black and white about how he sees
- 21:57Speaker 1: a lot of things, and there was a part of
- 21:59Speaker 1: me that was expecting him to be like, I'm not
- 22:01Speaker 1: teaming up with that guy, are you fucking kidding me?
- 22:04Speaker 1: Like I just sort of it could have gone either
- 22:10Speaker 1: way for me, and ultimately his deciding that, like, he
- 22:16Speaker 1: is going to agree, I was very pleasantly surprised, because
- 22:21Speaker 1: I wouldn't even have been really mad at him if
- 22:24Speaker 1: he had decided that he wasn't going to team up
- 22:26Speaker 1: with Beggie, But it would have been, in my opinion,
- 22:33Speaker 1: not a good call. I think teaming up with Beggie
- 22:36Speaker 1: is pragmatically speaking, a much better idea. But I could
- 22:42Speaker 1: absolutely have seen Lufy being like, look, we can take
- 22:46Speaker 1: advantage of the fact that Beggie will also be attacking
- 22:49Speaker 1: her and just like lean into that because it's happening
- 22:53Speaker 1: at the same time and is very convenient for us,
- 22:56Speaker 1: But I'm not gonna like work with the guy, you
- 22:59Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Like, we're doing this ourselves and
- 23:01Speaker 1: we'll just figure out a way. And honestly, when I
- 23:07Speaker 1: get around, like when I think about this as a
- 23:13Speaker 1: bigger picture and think about, like, you know, Louviy agreeing
- 23:19Speaker 1: to work with Beggie and agreeing in the end, like
- 23:22Speaker 1: we get to that episode where he agrees to be
- 23:25Speaker 1: basically bait, I can't help but think that maybe whether
- 23:33Speaker 1: he agrees to work with Beggie or is like I'm
- 23:36Speaker 1: not working with him but will just take advantage of
- 23:38Speaker 1: the fact that he is also attacking, are going to
- 23:41Speaker 1: end up looking the same in the end anyway, because
- 23:44Speaker 1: as we know, Luviy can say he's willing to work
- 23:47Speaker 1: with somebody, and that does not, by any means indicate
- 23:50Speaker 1: that he is going to actually stick to the plan
- 23:54Speaker 1: they formulated together, as law would attest, you know, Loufy
- 24:00Speaker 1: will be like, Hey, I'm glad I've got some people
- 24:02Speaker 1: backing me. Great now I shall proceed to do whatever
- 24:08Speaker 1: the fuck I originally had wanted to do. I don't care,
- 24:12Speaker 1: so I am going to be very interested to see
- 24:16Speaker 1: how much of whatever they decide is going to go
- 24:19Speaker 1: a certain way is going to actually go that way.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Because Lufy has been in some ways, it feels to
- 24:26Speaker 1: me kind of growing a little bit, but like fundamentally
- 24:31Speaker 1: he's who he is, and I wonder also like his team.
- 24:39Speaker 1: I don't know how this is going to be played
- 24:42Speaker 1: in terms of storytelling, because there are different ways that
- 24:46Speaker 1: you can do this. You could have either the whole
- 24:49Speaker 1: plan is outlined in front of us the viewer, We
- 24:54Speaker 1: go into the scene knowing what is supposed to happen,
- 24:58Speaker 1: and then we wind up like watching it either not
- 25:02Speaker 1: go to plan, or we see that somebody got inside
- 25:08Speaker 1: information that there was somebody who betrayed us, and thus
- 25:12Speaker 1: there is a twist added into the mix that we
- 25:14Speaker 1: didn't see coming. Or the other way that you can
- 25:18Speaker 1: play it is we we skip over the whole like
- 25:24Speaker 1: planning segment of this episode. We get very very basic
- 25:31Speaker 1: information and not really anything in detail, so that things
- 25:38Speaker 1: can play out in front of us the viewer, and
- 25:39Speaker 1: there will still be a twist because we didn't actually
- 25:43Speaker 1: get to be privy to the entire plan, which is
- 25:47Speaker 1: that's the way that it is often played in things
- 25:49Speaker 1: like Dressden Files, for example, We'll get to hear like
- 25:52Speaker 1: most of the plan and then there will have been
- 25:55Speaker 1: some sort of contingency that he handles off page and
- 26:00Speaker 1: gets you know, this person, like gets called in at
- 26:03Speaker 1: the final moment and arrives like on the third day
- 26:08Speaker 1: at dawn, like Gandalf. So the way that this show
- 26:14Speaker 1: has normally gone is that we get to see the
- 26:18Speaker 1: planning stage. But then the twist is that Loufy fucking
- 26:22Speaker 1: doesn't do the planned thing because he just is who
- 26:26Speaker 1: he is. I wouldn't be mad if we did something
- 26:30Speaker 1: a little different this time and it was like that.
- 26:33Speaker 1: He actually does stick to the plan because it's very
- 26:36Speaker 1: simple and also somehow speaks to him in a very
- 26:40Speaker 1: specific way. That is because the thing with Lufy is
- 26:45Speaker 1: like I described him when we very first met him
- 26:48Speaker 1: as being Adhd, like in one of the first episodes
- 26:50Speaker 1: of Coverage, And part of the whole thing with being
- 26:56Speaker 1: Adhd is that your brain is craving dopamine to such
- 27:01Speaker 1: a degree that you will do very dumb shit that
- 27:05Speaker 1: is not helpful to your ultimate goal for your immediate
- 27:10Speaker 1: hit of dopamine right now that makes you happy in
- 27:13Speaker 1: this instant, even though you're shooting yourself in the foot.
- 27:16Speaker 1: Long term, it doesn't matter because your brain is just
- 27:20Speaker 1: drowning in sad and you need something. So if we
- 27:24Speaker 1: could come up with a plan that somehow speaks to
- 27:29Speaker 1: that part of lufy where it's like it's a plan, yes,
- 27:33Speaker 1: but you also do kind of get to be let
- 27:36Speaker 1: completely off the leash right away, then maybe he follows
- 27:41Speaker 1: the plan because it's what he wants in the end, regardless,
- 27:45Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So I don't know, I am.
- 27:49Speaker 1: I'm just, like I said, very very curious to see
- 27:53Speaker 1: because truly, this could go a few different ways, and
- 28:00Speaker 1: any of them could be interesting. But I think that
- 28:03Speaker 1: the thing I'm down for the most is just something
- 28:05Speaker 1: that is different than what we have usually seen. It's
- 28:10Speaker 1: just that you have to figure out a way to
- 28:12Speaker 1: do something different without people acting completely out of character.
- 28:16Speaker 1: So how to bridge that gap there a little bit?
- 28:21Speaker 1: Because having movies suddenly completely follow a plan, I think
- 28:24Speaker 1: all of us would be kind of like, huh, that
- 28:27Speaker 1: doesn't seem like him, you know, So you have to
- 28:29Speaker 1: find a way to like, if you're going to do it,
- 28:33Speaker 1: you need to explain why that would ever happen. We
- 28:38Speaker 1: also get like kind of this history of Veggie here
- 28:43Speaker 1: and the whole way that he came up through the ranks,
- 28:46Speaker 1: and long story short, it's just that he started off
- 28:50Speaker 1: as like an assassin, and it's sort of it's sort
- 28:54Speaker 1: of hilarious to you, guys, because I'm not even saying
- 28:57Speaker 1: that this is not believable, because if you catch a
- 29:00Speaker 1: bunch of people totally off guard like this, maybe this
- 29:03Speaker 1: would work. But I am just saying that in this moment,
- 29:07Speaker 1: I felt kind of like, huh, okay, but they have
- 29:14Speaker 1: I'm sorry, guys, I do just I do find this funny.
- 29:16Speaker 1: They have him like at a party and he's the
- 29:20Speaker 1: waiter serving line to all of these people sitting around
- 29:24Speaker 1: this table. And I should mention too that like a
- 29:26Speaker 1: lot of whenever Beg's on screen, we've got we've got
- 29:30Speaker 1: a lot of like uh either I think it's accordion music,
- 29:38Speaker 1: but it's that sort of that sound that's very like
- 29:41Speaker 1: Mobster Godfather kind of soundtrack, you know what I'm saying,
- 29:48Speaker 1: which I won't lie, I do think is very very
- 29:53Speaker 1: amusing anytime that kind of look. Accordions are just funny.
- 29:57Speaker 1: It's part of why weird Aw went for accordions, like
- 30:00Speaker 1: as a primary thing for so long, they're just there
- 30:03Speaker 1: is something very funny about them. I'm I'm I understand,
- 30:06Speaker 1: but uh, this is definitely a thing where I'm like,
- 30:10Speaker 1: is this anti Italian propaganda? Like? How should I feel
- 30:14Speaker 1: about this? I can't really beat youo mad about it?
- 30:16Speaker 1: It's okay, but yeah, he's the waiter at this table
- 30:23Speaker 1: and he's like, how's the flavor of the wine? And
- 30:26Speaker 1: the guy says it's not really bitter enough for me?
- 30:31Speaker 1: And Begi says, how about this? Stabs the guy and
- 30:37Speaker 1: all his henchmen are here also, they're all standing around,
- 30:40Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. He stabs him, turns and
- 30:48Speaker 1: pulls a gun and then shoots every other person in
- 30:53Speaker 1: the room, just immediately puts them all down, And like,
- 31:01Speaker 1: it's just such it's such a huge action to take.
- 31:05Speaker 1: It's crazy. It's crazy. The idea that he would be
- 31:11Speaker 1: able to pull this off. I don't even think it's
- 31:14Speaker 1: like necessarily out of the realm of possibility. I feel like,
- 31:18Speaker 1: probably he could. I buy it, because this dude is
- 31:22Speaker 1: obviously bonkers. But if I were like the boss here
- 31:29Speaker 1: that got got like this, and my whole team winds
- 31:33Speaker 1: up getting taken out at once by this dude, I
- 31:38Speaker 1: would be so livid. I mean, I know that it's
- 31:40Speaker 1: supposed to be that this guy died, and I am
- 31:42Speaker 1: assuming that he did die, but it like I would
- 31:46Speaker 1: rather because how do you survive the embarrassment of one
- 31:51Speaker 1: dude evidently taking down your entire squad. You better die,
- 31:57Speaker 1: Like that's kind of the only thing that you can
- 31:58Speaker 1: do at this point, because other there's no respect remaining
- 32:01Speaker 1: for you in the criminal underworld after this. That's it.
- 32:04Speaker 1: That's a wrap on your career. Like, I don't make
- 32:07Speaker 1: the rules. This is just how this shit works, you
- 32:09Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. So anyway, VEGGI, it's noted specifically,
- 32:16Speaker 1: which I thought was very interesting. He is not going
- 32:20Speaker 1: after anybody's like titles or positions. It's not a power
- 32:28Speaker 1: grab for him. He just takes their possessions. He just
- 32:33Speaker 1: wants like the goods. He's here for the prize money.
- 32:38Speaker 1: It's a very like Nami coded sort of motivation. And
- 32:44Speaker 1: so he has managed to work his way up, not
- 32:47Speaker 1: because he was really trying to work his way up
- 32:52Speaker 1: so much as that in taking out other people, he
- 32:55Speaker 1: just wound up being on top. Because everybody else was
- 33:00Speaker 1: is the impression that I'm getting, which winding up on
- 33:05Speaker 1: top by a kind of accident honestly is hilarious. Like
- 33:13Speaker 1: it's like I didn't even try. It was like a
- 33:15Speaker 1: side effect of the thing I really wanted wild Okay,
- 33:20Speaker 1: Like I won't say that I don't find him intimidating
- 33:24Speaker 1: at all, because that's not really true. It's just more
- 33:28Speaker 1: like the way that I see him shifted a little bit,
- 33:39Speaker 1: and I just expected there to be, like, you know,
- 33:43Speaker 1: him going after Big Mom. Now, is this indicating that
- 33:49Speaker 1: there's a change in his motivation, that there is like
- 33:53Speaker 1: a power grab happening now that he is actually wanting
- 33:58Speaker 1: but or is he just I want her stuff as well?
- 34:05Speaker 1: You know? And he's not an idiot either, Like he's
- 34:11Speaker 1: saying as he is talking to his own people about
- 34:14Speaker 1: whether or not they should team up with Lufy, he
- 34:16Speaker 1: says something like, if the kid tries anything funny, we'll
- 34:21Speaker 1: fucking nail him. So we're not letting him get away
- 34:25Speaker 1: with shit. I am worried about what it looks like
- 34:30Speaker 1: to him when when Lufy quote tries something, because like
- 34:35Speaker 1: as we have seen, because he doesn't stick to a
- 34:38Speaker 1: plan that could be seen that could be misinterpreted as
- 34:42Speaker 1: him like backstabbing, and we know that's unlikely, but I
- 34:49Speaker 1: do understand from his perspective why he might take it
- 34:52Speaker 1: that way. Ooh, Seraphim says, I wonder if that's a
- 34:58Speaker 1: translation slash dub thing. I recall when I watched, the
- 35:02Speaker 1: focus was more on him just wanting to enjoy the chaos.
- 35:05Speaker 1: He caused, Okay, maybe it is, like that's what I
- 35:09Speaker 1: remember specifically because I found it sort of arresting in
- 35:13Speaker 1: the storytelling. I was just like, oh, really, but maybe
- 35:18Speaker 1: maybe that part, just that line caught at me in
- 35:21Speaker 1: such a way that Jimbey goes on to explain that
- 35:24Speaker 1: it's the chaos, and I was just kind of hyper
- 35:27Speaker 1: focused on the first part of what he said. So
- 35:33Speaker 1: let's see, I'm trying to find the spot here, because
- 35:35Speaker 1: like our I'm trying to remember exactly how our friends
- 35:39Speaker 1: wind up reuniting with. Do they climb into the mirror world?
- 35:45Speaker 1: Is that what happens or do they just know they
- 35:47Speaker 1: just meet at this other castle it's the headquarters of
- 35:52Speaker 1: the fire tank pirates, Is that right? Really weird name kids,
- 36:02Speaker 1: This one is a bit like I don't get the
- 36:06Speaker 1: naming convention sometimes in this world, because usually people will
- 36:10Speaker 1: just be called after the captain and it'll be the
- 36:14Speaker 1: I I'm expecting, like the Bejie Pirates or the Capone
- 36:18Speaker 1: Pirates or something like that. The fire Tank Pirates is
- 36:22Speaker 1: not anything to me. I don't know what this is referencing,
- 36:27Speaker 1: but yeah, I just wanted to acknowledge that because it
- 36:32Speaker 1: was confusing when they first arrived there, I was like, wait,
- 36:35Speaker 1: who are they meeting? Is this a third person they're involving?
- 36:38Speaker 1: And no, it is not. It is simply that there
- 36:41Speaker 1: is this other name for them that I wasn't expecting.
- 36:45Speaker 1: So everybody is getting cleaned up because they are a
- 36:51Speaker 1: disaster from all of their adventures. And I would like
- 36:56Speaker 1: to just take a moment to to stop and talk
- 37:02Speaker 1: about Chopper with no hat on. I don't like this
- 37:08Speaker 1: at all. I don't know what it is. Guys, you
- 37:12Speaker 1: know and love my boy, You know that I would
- 37:14Speaker 1: like just like die for his little self, But what
- 37:22Speaker 1: is this? What is this? It's I think part of it.
- 37:33Speaker 1: I think what part of it is that's very uncomfortable
- 37:35Speaker 1: for me is that his ears are kind of in
- 37:41Speaker 1: front and down the sides of his head. In front
- 37:45Speaker 1: of his antlers in a way that works when he's
- 37:48Speaker 1: got a hat on, but which I assumed was a
- 37:51Speaker 1: result of the hat pushing his ears down, not that
- 37:56Speaker 1: this is where his ears simply sit even when he
- 38:00Speaker 1: has no hat on. So the removal of the hat
- 38:05Speaker 1: and his ears are still there is very bizarre looking
- 38:10Speaker 1: to me. It's super weird, and I don't like it.
- 38:14Speaker 1: I really have. I don't recall another time that we've
- 38:21Speaker 1: seen him without his hat on, and it's probably happened it,
- 38:25Speaker 1: but like, I just didn't notice it. So this was
- 38:28Speaker 1: the first time that I remember being like, what is
- 38:31Speaker 1: going on? And I expected Loofy or Sanji to comment
- 38:37Speaker 1: on it, and they don't. But he looks so strange,
- 38:42Speaker 1: and he's in like a little pair of he's in
- 38:45Speaker 1: his shorts, but he's got no shirt on and a
- 38:47Speaker 1: towel draped over his shoulders, and he's drinking from a
- 38:51Speaker 1: milk carton, which I thought was going to be sort
- 38:54Speaker 1: of I thought that was meant to be a kind
- 38:56Speaker 1: of Oh, he's like a little kid, the way that
- 39:00Speaker 1: we do with like the candy and stuff, you know,
- 39:02Speaker 1: and a milk carton thing just feels very elementary. School
- 39:06Speaker 1: kid codd. But it turns out there's like a whole
- 39:09Speaker 1: cooler in there full of milk, which obviously Brooke is
- 39:13Speaker 1: just delighted by because this is what he needs to
- 39:17Speaker 1: repair himself. And apparently it's also going to be understood
- 39:21Speaker 1: that this is something Loofy uses to fix his tooth,
- 39:27Speaker 1: which I don't know. I don't think I knew that
- 39:32Speaker 1: that was something that was supposed to be how it
- 39:37Speaker 1: worked for human beings as well, But I guess that's
- 39:43Speaker 1: just the lore in this world is that milk fixes
- 39:47Speaker 1: bones and it does not matter, you know, like what
- 39:52Speaker 1: in real life happens. That's just what it's going to be. Okay,
- 39:57Speaker 1: you know, that's fine, just sort of weird. I just
- 39:59Speaker 1: didn't remember it. And so they're all, like I said,
- 40:04Speaker 1: getting cleaned up. And we have this thing where Chiffon,
- 40:08Speaker 1: who is the one who is married to Begi, is
- 40:12Speaker 1: talking with Nami about her sister, asking what happened with Lola,
- 40:18Speaker 1: and you know, the details on when Nami ran into her,
- 40:23Speaker 1: what was going on with her, et cetera, et cetera,
- 40:27Speaker 1: And the story that she tells is interesting because it's
- 40:34Speaker 1: sort of pointing to what was going on when it
- 40:38Speaker 1: came to the giant thing with Big Mom, it's it
- 40:47Speaker 1: is sort of still weird to me, but like I
- 40:51Speaker 1: don't feel like this fully explains it for me, And
- 40:55Speaker 1: I don't know if it's just that I am I
- 40:58Speaker 1: don't have all the information yet, and that's part of it,
- 41:01Speaker 1: is that I have to wait to hear the rest
- 41:02Speaker 1: of it. Or if there was like a conclusion I
- 41:04Speaker 1: was meant to come to that I didn't come to,
- 41:06Speaker 1: So forgive me if that's the fact, Like I just
- 41:10Speaker 1: I didn't get there. But basically what it was was
- 41:14Speaker 1: Lola had been approached by a giant who was in
- 41:19Speaker 1: love with her and come to find out that giant
- 41:24Speaker 1: was like a prince among giants, and had Lola married him,
- 41:32Speaker 1: it would have been a game changer for Big Mom.
- 41:39Speaker 1: She would have wound up with this bonker's amount of
- 41:42Speaker 1: power because having these giants on her side and the
- 41:48Speaker 1: whole army of them, it just there would be no
- 41:52Speaker 1: stopping her. So the fact that her daughter decided she
- 41:57Speaker 1: didn't want to marry this guy and took off, it
- 42:01Speaker 1: was like just having a dream come true whisked away
- 42:08Speaker 1: from underneath her with no warning, and it made me
- 42:12Speaker 1: really kind of. I couldn't help but laugh a little
- 42:16Speaker 1: bit because a big part of me was like, oh,
- 42:19Speaker 1: you know what, Big Mom, I'm not even really that
- 42:23Speaker 1: mad at you now for being as angry with Lola
- 42:26Speaker 1: as you are, Like obviously her being a controlling monster,
- 42:30Speaker 1: of course I do not approve of or like, but
- 42:35Speaker 1: I have to say that, like, once I understood the
- 42:39Speaker 1: extent of what Lola could have given her and it
- 42:45Speaker 1: being taken, it made it was less about just oh
- 42:50Speaker 1: I could have had more power, more power, vague unsatisfying
- 42:56Speaker 1: whatever I could have had the giants. That's a big deal,
- 43:00Speaker 1: literally and figuratively. So not to say, of course, again
- 43:06Speaker 1: that I approve of Big Mom's attitude here, obviously not,
- 43:13Speaker 1: but I will just say that it gave more scope
- 43:18Speaker 1: to her overall attitude regarding everything, and it made me
- 43:23Speaker 1: understand the the full extent of her reaction. It made
- 43:30Speaker 1: it feel less like over the top and like she's overreacting,
- 43:34Speaker 1: and I was sort of taken back down to like, oh, actually, okay,
- 43:40Speaker 1: I get it. That's a pretty that's a big one. Yeah, fair,
- 43:43Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So anyway, they're talking about
- 43:48Speaker 1: this as they're uh getting ready, and on the other
- 43:56Speaker 1: side of things, we have this weird moment of about Caesar,
- 44:01Speaker 1: like the reminder here that she is trying to it seems,
- 44:08Speaker 1: sidestep the difficulty of not having the giants on her
- 44:13Speaker 1: side by making her own giants using this thing that
- 44:17Speaker 1: Caesar is supposed to have invented, which as we know,
- 44:22Speaker 1: does not really work in the way that she thinks
- 44:27Speaker 1: it works. And he is not really disabusing her of
- 44:31Speaker 1: this notion that it works this way. He is fully
- 44:35Speaker 1: meaning into it, and I can't like at this point,
- 44:43Speaker 1: Caesar is just such a disaster that I sort of
- 44:48Speaker 1: want to see if she were to find out how
- 44:51Speaker 1: much he is full of shit, how she reacts. But
- 44:55Speaker 1: it doesn't look like that's going to happen because he
- 44:58Speaker 1: got scooped up and taken out of the by Veggie
- 45:01Speaker 1: as we see later, and has changed his hair and
- 45:05Speaker 1: seems to think that's all it's gonna take for nobody
- 45:09Speaker 1: to recognize him, which is extremely hilarious. This is one
- 45:15Speaker 1: of my favorite bits is anytime somebody overestimates their own
- 45:21Speaker 1: ability to play a roller blend in because you know
- 45:25Speaker 1: the other on the other hand, a lot of stuff,
- 45:29Speaker 1: it will be like, this person looks identical except they
- 45:32Speaker 1: have a wig on, And I love Lucy comes to
- 45:36Speaker 1: mind for this, right it's literally Lucy with like some
- 45:41Speaker 1: tooth blackener and a wig, standing a little weird with
- 45:45Speaker 1: like shabby clothes on, pretending to be a hobo, and
- 45:48Speaker 1: her own husband doesn't recognize her, you know, and we
- 45:51Speaker 1: go with it for the bit. It's fine, but we're
- 45:54Speaker 1: sitting there going like, come on, dude, really, and there's
- 45:58Speaker 1: plenty of stuff where that's kind of supposed to be
- 46:00Speaker 1: the thing. Somebody otherwise looks pretty much exactly how they
- 46:03Speaker 1: always look, and yet we're supposed to believe that nobody
- 46:07Speaker 1: knows who they really are. And it's just not like
- 46:12Speaker 1: you can't buy it. And I love the fact that
- 46:16Speaker 1: even Loofy, who is such a ding dong, clocks who
- 46:20Speaker 1: this is right away. And then when Caesar gives the
- 46:27Speaker 1: worst explanation of who he really is, Chopper, who had
- 46:32Speaker 1: previously been like, that's not Caesar, it is like, oh
- 46:35Speaker 1: it is Caesar. Oh wow, he's not even very good
- 46:38Speaker 1: at this. But Loofy is the one going, oh my bad,
- 46:42Speaker 1: I'm mistaken. I thought you were. Which I love that
- 46:48Speaker 1: joke very very much. That's just extremely that's just so
- 46:53Speaker 1: funny to me. I love it. It's it's just very funny.
- 46:58Speaker 1: I don't know. So anyway, this dude, I had been
- 47:05Speaker 1: wondering what the deal was with Big Mom and the
- 47:09Speaker 1: giants and why she was so obsessed with them, and
- 47:13Speaker 1: the way I was interpreting it was like, she is
- 47:16Speaker 1: herself a giant almost, like not really in terms of
- 47:20Speaker 1: what we have seen of the size of giants, but
- 47:25Speaker 1: it's she is certainly way larger than like the average
- 47:30Speaker 1: person in this world. So I was thinking fully that
- 47:35Speaker 1: it was her just wanting other people that were like
- 47:38Speaker 1: the same size as her, because she was sort of
- 47:41Speaker 1: wanting to establish a whole new world order with giant people.
- 47:45Speaker 1: And it's very funny now to look at that and
- 47:48Speaker 1: be like, that's what I thought was going on there,
- 47:50Speaker 1: because that's like it was the best I had at
- 47:53Speaker 1: the time, I guess, But ultimately, what a weird motivation
- 47:58Speaker 1: that would have been. I kind of still would have
- 48:00Speaker 1: liked it. I won't, why do you guys? It still
- 48:02Speaker 1: would have been kind of fun if she was just like,
- 48:05Speaker 1: I'm lonely, I'd like some other big people have tea with,
- 48:09Speaker 1: you know, But and I think part of it was that,
- 48:12Speaker 1: like in her little fantasy when she's talking to Caesar
- 48:15Speaker 1: that first time, and she's describing this like tea party,
- 48:18Speaker 1: and she's sitting around a table with all these people
- 48:20Speaker 1: who are the same size as her, it doesn't look
- 48:24Speaker 1: to me like any of them are really the same
- 48:27Speaker 1: size as the giants either. They all look like they
- 48:32Speaker 1: are pretty much the same size as Big Mom specifically,
- 48:37Speaker 1: So I think that's also part of why it was
- 48:40Speaker 1: just like the size they were as shown to us.
- 48:43Speaker 1: Plus the fact that there is a real camaraderie in
- 48:47Speaker 1: the scene itself of her sitting and having a nice
- 48:50Speaker 1: time with everybody, that made it feel like that was
- 48:55Speaker 1: her goal. This is what it was that she was after,
- 48:58Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So anyway, that's evidently she's
- 49:03Speaker 1: basically like, Okay, I can't get them on my side.
- 49:07Speaker 1: I'm going to go ahead and make a whole new
- 49:10Speaker 1: race of giants using science, which is unhinged for sure,
- 49:19Speaker 1: But also I guess, you know, like I suppose, if
- 49:24Speaker 1: you're gonna be mad with power, do it that way
- 49:27Speaker 1: feels like a decent idea in a hypothetical kind of sense,
- 49:33Speaker 1: you know, So then we have a lovely sequence where
- 49:38Speaker 1: everybody is getting dressed in their like semi formal attire
- 49:43Speaker 1: to go meet with Beggie, and there is there's like
- 49:48Speaker 1: this weird cosplay costume of this robot that Loofy finds
- 49:54Speaker 1: and gets dressed up in for a second, and I'm
- 49:56Speaker 1: wondering if this is gonna be something that comes into play.
- 49:58Speaker 1: A little bit later, Nami is in this like dress
- 50:03Speaker 1: with her hair all done up, and she, you know,
- 50:07Speaker 1: gives loof or gives Sanji the cold shoulder, and I'm
- 50:13Speaker 1: trying to find the bit where she says something about
- 50:16Speaker 1: I'll rake you over the coals, and he follows her, Nammy, sweet,
- 50:21Speaker 1: you really want to spend the rest of your life
- 50:24Speaker 1: with me, don't you. I am so curious what they're
- 50:29Speaker 1: gonna do with him in the live action, because it's
- 50:33Speaker 1: such a tricky thing to like thread this needle where
- 50:36Speaker 1: he is a complete creep in the show so often,
- 50:42Speaker 1: and you got like, that's such a major part of
- 50:46Speaker 1: his personality that you can't leave that out when you
- 50:49Speaker 1: do a live action, But actually behaving in a way
- 50:53Speaker 1: like this in live action would be repellent. So how
- 50:58Speaker 1: do you, like, you know what I'm saying, we don't
- 51:02Speaker 1: have a ton of time with him and Nami on
- 51:05Speaker 1: the screen together in this first season, so we haven't
- 51:08Speaker 1: had a lot of like we haven't had to deal
- 51:12Speaker 1: with that too much. And I really am curious, as
- 51:16Speaker 1: we have more time with them together, how that's going
- 51:20Speaker 1: to materialize. So let's see. I'm sorry, I'm trying to
- 51:27Speaker 1: oh right. And there's this message here about Chiffon when
- 51:32Speaker 1: she's talking about how big Mom actually beat her as
- 51:39Speaker 1: like a release for her anger toward Lola. She took
- 51:41Speaker 1: it out on Chiffon. Cheffon looks a lot like Lola,
- 51:44Speaker 1: so I'm assuming that's part of it, and that when
- 51:46Speaker 1: Beji told her he was planning to double cross her mom,
- 51:50Speaker 1: Chiffon didn't feel anything. And it's like, I don't know
- 51:53Speaker 1: if that makes me a bad person, but like she's
- 51:55Speaker 1: really awful. And we've got the train guy and Brue
- 52:00Speaker 1: tied up still in the mirror world. There's nobody overseeing them,
- 52:05Speaker 1: but they are listening and thus know what this whole
- 52:09Speaker 1: plan is. And I'm assuming that they are going to
- 52:12Speaker 1: be a big part of things going wrong at some point.
- 52:18Speaker 1: And I forgot that her son's name is pez. This
- 52:22Speaker 1: kid with the fucking cigar is absolutely hysterical to me.
- 52:27Speaker 1: So then we have the actual meet with Beggie, and
- 52:33Speaker 1: you know, I feel like I've talked a lot about this,
- 52:36Speaker 1: like indirectly already, but he is. There's this like long
- 52:46Speaker 1: table that everybody is sitting at, Lufy at one end,
- 52:49Speaker 1: him on the other, and all their cohorts down each side,
- 52:52Speaker 1: and we have lots of like slow camera draws as
- 52:56Speaker 1: we absorb everyone who is here. And I can't remember
- 53:03Speaker 1: exactly how it is because we get to see a
- 53:05Speaker 1: flashback of when Caesar was released from his cell by Beji,
- 53:13Speaker 1: and there had been I can't remember if it's this
- 53:16Speaker 1: or at a different time. There's a guy who turns
- 53:19Speaker 1: up at one point and he has this like smoke
- 53:25Speaker 1: monster that kind of comes out of him and is
- 53:27Speaker 1: opening doors and getting into places, and I'm trying to
- 53:31Speaker 1: see when that happens. I feel like maybe it's at
- 53:33Speaker 1: the end of this episode. But yeah, that's not the
- 53:38Speaker 1: way that they wind up getting Caesar out of here.
- 53:40Speaker 1: That's a completely separate thing, I guess. So sorry, guys.
- 53:45Speaker 1: I remember that because the imagery of the smoke monster
- 53:49Speaker 1: thing was so cool, but I just didn't remember the
- 53:51Speaker 1: context of it really, but yeah, they start talking here
- 53:56Speaker 1: just about like the overall role of everybody, and Caesar
- 54:04Speaker 1: still trying to like pretend he's not who he is,
- 54:07Speaker 1: and then pretty much dropping the whole act because he
- 54:10Speaker 1: wants to share this cool weapon that he came up with.
- 54:13Speaker 1: Apologies for my cat. She'll get out in a second,
- 54:17Speaker 1: she's fine, and so he can't resist. You know, he's
- 54:22Speaker 1: got it's like these rocket launcher type things, and there's
- 54:26Speaker 1: he's made a bunch of them, and they do a
- 54:29Speaker 1: whole lot of damage. And there is a great bit,
- 54:32Speaker 1: guys where Beggi is holding one of these. But then
- 54:37Speaker 1: he gets like over excited and talking quite loudly, and
- 54:40Speaker 1: his son starts crying, and he chucks the rocket launcher
- 54:45Speaker 1: away and picks up his son and starts apologizing about
- 54:52Speaker 1: making him cry and how I can get really loud
- 54:55Speaker 1: sometimes and I'm so sorry, and he's really really like
- 54:59Speaker 1: sweet and into it with his kid, and then he
- 55:02Speaker 1: comes out of this and starts talking to the straw
- 55:05Speaker 1: hats again, but he keeps using baby talk, and I
- 55:09Speaker 1: think it's Brooke, or maybe it's Caesar, who's like, I
- 55:12Speaker 1: think I think you forgot to switch out of the
- 55:15Speaker 1: baby talk there, buddy. I found this very funny. I'm
- 55:19Speaker 1: kind of an easy mark when it comes to like
- 55:22Speaker 1: the dude loves his children. You know, it's such a
- 55:25Speaker 1: low bar, and I recognize that, but I have to
- 55:27Speaker 1: admit that it does work on me and Veggie, especially
- 55:31Speaker 1: being like this tough guy. The way he absolutely let
- 55:35Speaker 1: his like guard down and melted for the sake of
- 55:38Speaker 1: his kid. It was very cute. I just thought it
- 55:41Speaker 1: was a very fun little moment. And let's see IM
- 55:47Speaker 1: trying to find this other Okay. So yeah, at the
- 55:49Speaker 1: end of this is when he says something about how
- 55:55Speaker 1: he wants to use Lufy bait, and everybody is sort
- 56:01Speaker 1: of like, why would you ever think that we're going
- 56:06Speaker 1: to do that. Lufy is like very important and a
- 56:08Speaker 1: good fighter, and he is part of this with you,
- 56:11Speaker 1: and you really plan to use him in that way,
- 56:15Speaker 1: And of course Lufy undercuts everybody by just being like, yeah, okay,
- 56:18Speaker 1: I'll do that, and it just of course he would.
- 56:23Speaker 1: I love it. I love it so much. So then
- 56:27Speaker 1: we have this moment where Copona's talking about how he
- 56:31Speaker 1: has seen so many people come at big mom so
- 56:35Speaker 1: many times she's had like buildings fall on her, She's
- 56:39Speaker 1: been shot like should have been Swiss cheese by the
- 56:46Speaker 1: time these guns were done and no bullets even penetrated.
- 56:52Speaker 1: He saw her get hit by an actual cannonball and
- 56:57Speaker 1: she basically was like you think that's a cannonball and
- 56:59Speaker 1: cannonball to her whole body into the other ship and
- 57:01Speaker 1: thank it and was like she didn't even have a bruise.
- 57:06Speaker 1: She was fucking fine. So when you called her a
- 57:10Speaker 1: metal blimp earlier, that's not actually too inaccurate to what
- 57:15Speaker 1: she's really like. She is practically impenetrable. But there is
- 57:19Speaker 1: one thing that I have seen render her completely bonkers.
- 57:27Speaker 1: And it's not even like it took her out and
- 57:29Speaker 1: like a way that is necessarily helpful. It's not like
- 57:35Speaker 1: this was something that made it so, oh yeah, we can,
- 57:39Speaker 1: you know, take advantage of her being unconscious or distract
- 57:45Speaker 1: you know what I mean. I guess it's distracted, but
- 57:46Speaker 1: like it seems like so anyway, there's this tea party
- 57:52Speaker 1: and he was there and he saw that there was
- 57:55Speaker 1: a portrait that was in a frame facing her with
- 58:00Speaker 1: a mother Caramel's portrait in it. That object is Mama's
- 58:04Speaker 1: Oh Oh my god, Sorry, guys, what is going on?
- 58:09Speaker 1: Oh my god, my cat is on the window sill,
- 58:12Speaker 1: and my other, my dog, Arwin, is on the other
- 58:15Speaker 1: side of the window, clawing at the Oh. I'm so sorry, guys. Jesus,
- 58:19Speaker 1: she sounds like she's being ripped up. She can't even
- 58:23Speaker 1: get to you would calm down anyway. This picture was
- 58:30Speaker 1: facing her, and he says, we don't know the details,
- 58:34Speaker 1: but Mama seems indebted to her. She's a mystery otherwise,
- 58:39Speaker 1: and apparently she disappeared, but nobody knows what happened to her.
- 58:45Speaker 1: Like the whole family is completely in the dark on this.
- 58:48Speaker 1: And at this one tea party, a servant accidentally knocked
- 58:54Speaker 1: the mother caramel frame off the table and Big Mom
- 59:00Speaker 1: lost her entire shit as soon as it was knocked down.
- 59:06Speaker 1: You just get this like close up of her eyes
- 59:09Speaker 1: as she starts like crying and then erupts into screams,
- 59:15Speaker 1: and they're like, you know, we've seen her when she's
- 59:19Speaker 1: getting one of her cravings and she starts to go
- 59:21Speaker 1: on this complete rampage before this was not that. Like,
- 59:26Speaker 1: she screamed in a way that we had to cover
- 59:29Speaker 1: our ears until it was over because it was about
- 59:33Speaker 1: to knock us all down and cause a lot of
- 59:35Speaker 1: people to pass out. And Beggy says she also unleashed
- 59:42Speaker 1: hockey on the party goers all because someone dropped the picture.
- 59:49Speaker 1: Now we're just getting to the good part, and we
- 59:52Speaker 1: get to see her like bent over and sobbing, crying
- 59:55Speaker 1: at the table alone everybody, like, you know, they're just
- 59:59Speaker 1: sort of bodies in the background that are still unconscious.
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: And I saw that when she fell to the ground,
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: she'd scraped them enough to bleed. I stopped dead in
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: my tracks because I just thought she didn't bleed. When
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: she breaks down like that, her body loses its defensive properties.
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: So at the tea party today, what do you suppose
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: will happen when we smash that picture to pieces? So
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: this is the plan, and I really I want to
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: know very very much why this works. Who Carmel is, like,
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: how all of this is even connected to each other?
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. So the plan is like,
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: get her into this state of shock and then we
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: hit her with a bazooka and that should take care
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: of it. And he says the news about the assassination
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: will spread through the whole world, and Chopper is like,
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: but the won't that just paralyze all of us, and
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: Capone says, not to worry. We have these the Invisible
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: Symphonious system and they are ear plugs, but it seems
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: like they are high tech ear plugs. So this is
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: when Sanji is like, okay, then if we do that,
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: we can take that time to also rescue Sanji's family,
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: and beij is like, We're only going to have three
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: seconds to take her down before chaos completely ruins everything,
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: so you need to keep your head together. And this
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: is where he says, that's when your part is going
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: to come in, and Lufy agrees to it. So I'm
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: assuming that this is probably going to be the thing
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: where stuff doesn't go quite to plan. Is that Beije
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: wants to simply take down Big Mom, but Lufy has
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: a whole other, like part of the mission that he
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: wants to accomplish that does not aligned with Begie's goals
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: at all. But I have really got to go because
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: I'm over time. So this was a fun section though,
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: and I'm very very interested in seeing where this is
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: gonna go. So I guess guys, I will see you
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: next week. I hope that y'all are enjoying the coverage.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: Thank you Florian for commissioning this one and until next time.
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: TOTALU motherfuckers. That was an unspoiled network podcast.
