- 0:19Speaker 1: It is time believe your warriors outside and laugh with
- 0:23Speaker 1: us inside the Treehouse. I'm Daniel Mallley along with Trey
- 0:27Speaker 1: Trendholm and Raj Sharma. Today is Monday, May twenty six,
- 0:32Speaker 1: twenty twenty five, also known this year as Memorial Day.
- 0:39Speaker 1: We'll talk about Memorial Day coming up just a little
- 0:41Speaker 1: bit later. We'll also talk about another reason why today's
- 0:46Speaker 1: date is very important inside the Treehouse, and also we
- 0:52Speaker 1: will discuss about whether or not you would save someone
- 0:56Speaker 1: in a very dire situation. Talk more specifically about that
- 1:01Speaker 1: later on, but first today inside the Treehouse. We will
- 1:05Speaker 1: start today with this. When you guys were kids, did
- 1:13Speaker 1: your mom or dad ever ask you the classic question
- 1:16Speaker 1: of so if your friends jumped off a bridge, would
- 1:19Speaker 1: you do it too?
- 1:20Speaker 2: Yep?
- 1:22Speaker 1: Well a guy on meth said yes, yes. Say what
- 1:29Speaker 1: you want about alcohol and how it gives you liquid courage.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Meth I think gives you quite a bit of courage
- 1:38Speaker 1: as well. A twenty nine year old man from Vancouver,
- 1:44Speaker 1: British Columbia had to be rescued after he jumped off
- 1:48Speaker 1: a bridge on a dare and he got stranded on
- 1:52Speaker 1: the side of a river. He wasn't trying to offer himself.
- 1:57Speaker 1: He just told police. He told police he was just
- 2:00Speaker 1: on meth and someone dared him to jump. Someone called
- 2:03Speaker 1: it in. A fireboat made contact, gave him a life
- 2:06Speaker 1: jacket and the coastguard had to scramble and pick him up,
- 2:10Speaker 1: and paramedics took him to a hospital. Police talk. Police
- 2:13Speaker 1: spoke with him, thinking he might have been trying to
- 2:16Speaker 1: kill himself, but no, he told him he jumped off
- 2:19Speaker 1: the bridge because someone dared him too. They also believed
- 2:23Speaker 1: that the fact he was on meth might have been
- 2:25Speaker 1: a factor. They treated him for minor injuries. It's not
- 2:28Speaker 1: clear what kind of charges he might be facing because
- 2:32Speaker 1: it's Canada, and they're probably wondering, well, should we should
- 2:35Speaker 1: we not? Should we apologize?
- 2:39Speaker 2: But at least he landed in water, right, Like, Hey,
- 2:44Speaker 2: that's a good thing because if he were to jump
- 2:46Speaker 2: off a bridge here in most places in the United States,
- 2:51Speaker 2: this would be a very different story.
- 2:54Speaker 3: Yeah, because we we win at Darwinism.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Clearly, Canada loses.
- 3:00Speaker 1: America always goes for gold.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Hey, they are only three percent populated. They're trying to
- 3:06Speaker 2: keep as many people around.
- 3:09Speaker 1: They need all they can get. Yeah, as Americans, we
- 3:13Speaker 1: know we're expendable, so we'll jump off the bridge. We'll
- 3:16Speaker 1: say hold our beer.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:21Speaker 1: I do think though, that we might be onto something here.
- 3:29Speaker 1: I like to look at the positive side of things
- 3:31Speaker 1: on occasion. So if you get a guy that's high
- 3:34Speaker 1: on meth that jumps off a bridge because he was
- 3:36Speaker 1: dared to by somebody, I think there's an opportunity here.
- 3:41Speaker 1: I think there's an opportunity here for a new game show.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Perhaps Double Dare can make a comeback Double Dare Meth
- 3:48Speaker 1: Edition mm hm, or better yet, a new game show
- 3:53Speaker 1: titled What's that myth Do? And really all you do
- 3:58Speaker 1: is you get people that are high on met and
- 4:00Speaker 1: just get them to do stuff and see what they do.
- 4:04Speaker 2: I think that would be a nice twist for fear factor.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Yeah really, it would just be like Jackass, but on meth.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Then again, a lot of the guys on Jackass probably
- 4:12Speaker 1: were on meths, So just Jackass three point.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Zero or you know, I think you could revent press
- 4:18Speaker 2: your luck.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Oh instead of instead of a whammy, you get a methy.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Is it still pressure luck or is it pressure meth?
- 4:30Speaker 2: You know, shoot your luck? I don't know.
- 4:35Speaker 4: Yah.
- 4:37Speaker 2: I like this. I like if we took if we
- 4:40Speaker 2: took a pressure luck and combined it with the Hunger
- 4:43Speaker 2: Games on meth. Oh, i'd watch I'm in I would
- 4:48Speaker 2: definitely watch that. But they didn't interview the friend, which
- 4:52Speaker 2: I think is very weird because was there really a
- 4:55Speaker 2: friend there he was, Oh.
- 4:58Speaker 1: That's a great question. For all we know was imagined
- 5:01Speaker 1: and it might have just been his imaginary meth friend.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Yeah, that's his Tyler Durden.
- 5:08Speaker 1: When I was a kid, I had Little Timmy John.
- 5:10Speaker 1: That was my imaginary friend. I wasn't on meth that
- 5:13Speaker 1: I'm aware of. I did live in rural Oklahoma at
- 5:16Speaker 1: the time, but yeah, I didn't have a Tyler Durden
- 5:19Speaker 1: as an adult. I just had Little Timmy John. And
- 5:21Speaker 1: Little Timmy John never tried to get me to jump
- 5:23Speaker 1: off a bridge.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Yes, because when Timmy John was alive, bridges weren't built
- 5:27Speaker 2: back then. That was science fiction.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Oh so, anyway, new game show right here inside the treehouse. Uh,
- 5:44Speaker 1: just to see what you can get someone high on
- 5:45Speaker 1: meth to do. And it doesn't even have to be
- 5:48Speaker 1: for money because they're on math. What does it matter.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Yeah, you can just dare. You can just dare them
- 5:54Speaker 2: and walk away. Exactly.
- 5:59Speaker 1: It's just just see what they do.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Just throw a twinkie down and let it see what happens.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Then it will be like the Hunger Games.
- 6:13Speaker 3: There's a knife, a switch blade, and a twinkie and
- 6:17Speaker 3: that's what.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Then that's when Wesley Snipes pops up. It's like always
- 6:23Speaker 2: bet on men.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Yeah, but then John Wick shows up and kills a
- 6:29Speaker 1: man with a twinkie.

- 8:13Speaker 1: Right there is Raj Sharma. On Memorial Day, May twenty six,
- 8:16Speaker 1: twenty twenty five, I have a troubling study for you
- 8:22Speaker 1: about Memorial Day. What percentage of people do you think
- 8:26Speaker 1: truly know what Memorial Day is about?
- 8:32Speaker 2: Interesting? I didn't know what it was about until many
- 8:38Speaker 2: years ago, but I'm gonna go with fifteen percent.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Fifteen okay, tray six, all right. I'm actually glad to
- 8:52Speaker 1: report that the numbers higher than the ones you guys
- 8:56Speaker 1: just guessed. It's still on the low side of where
- 8:59Speaker 1: I would like to see you, though, fifty of Americans
- 9:02Speaker 1: think Memorial Day has lost its original meaning. Okay, According
- 9:10Speaker 1: to a new pole half of Americans think Memorial Day
- 9:12Speaker 1: has lost its original meaning. Fifty two percent think it's true,
- 9:16Speaker 1: and they might be right. Forty percent say remembering America's
- 9:19Speaker 1: fallen troops is not the first thing they associate with
- 9:23Speaker 1: Memorial Day anymore. Sixty percent say it still is so
- 9:28Speaker 1: in reality, sixty percent of people in this study still
- 9:32Speaker 1: know what Memorial Day is supposed to be about and
- 9:35Speaker 1: what it is about. Not surprisingly, age plays a major
- 9:42Speaker 1: factor in this. Only forty eight percent of gen Z's
- 9:48Speaker 1: say Memorial Day is still about fallen soldiers. Seventy six
- 9:54Speaker 1: percent of baby boomers, however, realize what it's meant for.
- 10:00Speaker 1: So what is it that people are confusing Memorial Day with?
- 10:03Speaker 1: It's just a three day weekend. To a lot of people,
- 10:07Speaker 1: Memorial Day is barbecues and drownings. But it's actually more
- 10:11Speaker 1: than that. It's supposed to commemorate and honor the one
- 10:16Speaker 1: point two million people that served and sacrificed in the
- 10:23Speaker 1: over two hundred and fifty years of military service in
- 10:27Speaker 1: the United States.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Yeah, see like when I was like, that's why I said,
- 10:31Speaker 2: I didn't figure out what it was. Like, I didn't
- 10:33Speaker 2: realize what it was for until many years ago, because
- 10:36Speaker 2: you know, growing up as a kid, there were block
- 10:38Speaker 2: parties and cookouts and I'm like, oh, this must be
- 10:41Speaker 2: a very joyous occasion and that's what you equate it to.
- 10:45Speaker 2: And especially with my parents being from India, like it
- 10:47Speaker 2: was like, Okay, let's just go out and join the party.
- 10:50Speaker 2: And you hear party enough times you're like, oh, this
- 10:52Speaker 2: has got to be And then years later, you know,
- 10:55Speaker 2: when I was talking to a buddy of mine's dad
- 10:58Speaker 2: who was in Vietnam, he really didn't ever participate in
- 11:02Speaker 2: like the block parties and stuff, and I kind of
- 11:04Speaker 2: asked he was a sniper, and I was asking him, like,
- 11:06Speaker 2: you know, what's the you know, you make the best
- 11:08Speaker 2: burger on the blog, Like why aren't you out there?
- 11:10Speaker 2: And he's like, that's not really what it's abount. He's like,
- 11:12Speaker 2: I'll go out there later, but you know, he's gonna
- 11:15Speaker 2: remember his buddies. And he then explained to me what
- 11:17Speaker 2: it was and I was like, oh, okay, I think
- 11:20Speaker 2: we're getting a little like off track because everybody out
- 11:23Speaker 2: there is just hammered eating hot dogs. That's that's all
- 11:27Speaker 2: they were doing. Yeah, lots of music.
- 11:31Speaker 3: I would have honestly bet that, especially gen Z, if
- 11:34Speaker 3: you gave them a choice of what is Memorial Day,
- 11:36Speaker 3: you know, you know, to honor the people that have
- 11:41Speaker 3: lost their lives fighting for our country or the weekend
- 11:44Speaker 3: the Lake opens, I would have Yeah, I guess the
- 11:47Speaker 3: Lake opens would have been a more popular answer.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Absolutely, And that's that really is. It's become sort of
- 11:54Speaker 1: the unofficial start of summer is Memorial Weekend, and then
- 11:58Speaker 1: the unofficial is the Labor Day weekend in September. So
- 12:06Speaker 1: and it's not their fault. I only know what they
- 12:09Speaker 1: get brought up with. So it's a lot of what
- 12:13Speaker 1: we have a tendency to do, which is take our
- 12:15Speaker 1: holidays and morph them into other things for a lot
- 12:19Speaker 1: of people. I've made this joke for years, and it's
- 12:22Speaker 1: a sad one. I think a number of people think
- 12:27Speaker 1: the memoriam part of Memorial Day is remembering all the
- 12:31Speaker 1: people that died over the three day weekend in lakes
- 12:36Speaker 1: as opposed to the actual military service members for the
- 12:40Speaker 1: United States. Sad, but I think that's accurate. For a
- 12:45Speaker 1: number of people, but I am glad that the number
- 12:48Speaker 1: is higher than all suspected it would be. So there
- 12:53Speaker 1: is that little bit of you know, silver lighting there,
- 12:56Speaker 1: but we certainly know what we reckonognize it. And one
- 13:01Speaker 1: of the things I've always thought is interesting about Memorial
- 13:04Speaker 1: Day is you can you can do both. You honor
- 13:08Speaker 1: and remember and appreciate all those sacrifices that make it
- 13:13Speaker 1: possible for us to have a barbecue, drink a beer
- 13:17Speaker 1: and enjoy being with people around us.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Yeah, and do that.
- 13:23Speaker 1: Many people think if those I think if those service
- 13:26Speaker 1: members were here, that's what they'd want to do. They'd
- 13:28Speaker 1: be like, man, I want to go. I want a burger.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Yeah, but also going back to do that. Many people
- 13:36Speaker 2: drown over this. I mean I haven't seen the numbers,
- 13:40Speaker 2: but is it a really high number of people drowning.
- 13:44Speaker 3: I believe it's an annual event at Lake Louisville.
- 13:57Speaker 1: You guys going to the drowning this year?
- 13:59Speaker 4: Are you? You are in the treehouse?

- 14:54Speaker 1: the Treehouse Show. I'm Dan, he's Trey, that's Raj. Today
- 14:57Speaker 1: is Monday, MA twenty twenty five. A day that has
- 15:04Speaker 1: lived in infamy for thirteen years because it was thirteen
- 15:08Speaker 1: years ago today that my wife became my wife. Thirteen
- 15:14Speaker 1: years ago Tara and I got married.
- 15:16Speaker 2: Ya, congratulations, thirteen years ago.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Relationships were forged, relationships were broken, memories were made, and
- 15:32Speaker 1: memories were broken underneath a white tent in Johnson County,
- 15:37Speaker 1: thirteen years ago on Tara's parents property. My god, what
- 15:41Speaker 1: a day. That was fine and I appreciate the fact
- 15:45Speaker 1: that you were there.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Yeah, Tray just leaves.
- 15:52Speaker 1: I don't know where where Trey went going to get
- 15:55Speaker 1: my anniversary gift or like he didn't even say he
- 15:58Speaker 1: was going here. He just walked out, Like where do
- 15:59Speaker 1: you go? Yeah, Trey, are you by my anniversary?
- 16:06Speaker 2: No? A little show and tell oh yeah, oh, look
- 16:09Speaker 2: at that.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Groomsman Tray, Dan and Tara five twenty six, twenty twelve.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Tray still your your groomsman flask? Uh huh oh the
- 16:20Speaker 1: irony of you having a flask.
- 16:22Speaker 2: I know.
- 16:24Speaker 1: What do you put in it? Water? Diet, coke?
- 16:28Speaker 2: Uh yeah, it's just just decorative at this point tears. Oh,
- 16:32Speaker 2: that would be hilarious if you just filled that up
- 16:34Speaker 2: with water and took that to the gym and every
- 16:37Speaker 2: now and again just took a swing out.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Of it, just huffing away on the treadmill.
- 16:42Speaker 2: You know, people were like, who's the Irish guy.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Working out?
- 16:50Speaker 2: Tray's really healthy and fell off.
- 16:57Speaker 1: It's pretty surprising he can. He can Bene two seventy five,
- 17:00Speaker 1: I've take take a twig out of a flask in
- 17:03Speaker 1: the middle of his workout.
- 17:04Speaker 2: He's really on his diet, but really off the wagon.
- 17:10Speaker 2: He's the Anti Knight of working out.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Well, that right there is a quick reminder why you
- 17:19Speaker 1: need to subscribe to Treehouse Plus, because if you did,
- 17:21Speaker 1: you would have heard today's Treehouse Plus episode and you
- 17:24Speaker 1: would know who Annie Knight is and why that was
- 17:27Speaker 1: so fitting. Thank you, Trey, so yeah, happy anniversary to me.
- 17:31Speaker 1: And Tara thirteen years ago we got married and very happy,
- 17:36Speaker 1: very lucky that she's still with me and I and
- 17:43Speaker 1: look we still we had such a great time at
- 17:46Speaker 1: our wedding that will occasionally reminisce about things that happened
- 17:52Speaker 1: at the wedding besides the wedding itself, because our idea
- 17:58Speaker 1: of that day was to just throw a you know,
- 18:00Speaker 1: is to get married and then and then throw a
- 18:02Speaker 1: big party for everybody. And that's what we did. I mean,
- 18:07Speaker 1: my god, I mean it when I say relationships ended
- 18:15Speaker 1: during that reception. And the next day, our buddy Jason
- 18:19Speaker 1: was dating a girl and he brought her to the wedding.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Jason was also one of one of my groomsmen. The
- 18:26Speaker 1: next day they broke up because that at the day
- 18:30Speaker 1: after the wedding, everyone goes back to Dallas and he's like, hey,
- 18:33Speaker 1: do you want to go to brunch? We're all going
- 18:34Speaker 1: to be up for brunch and she's like, you guys
- 18:37Speaker 1: are going to do more and he's like yeah, she
- 18:40Speaker 1: said I she said, I can't do this anymore, and
- 18:42Speaker 1: then they broke up the very next day.
- 18:44Speaker 2: Wow.
- 18:45Speaker 1: Yeah, there were friends that were at that wedding that
- 18:49Speaker 1: are no longer friends for various reasons. I know, my
- 18:53Speaker 1: cousin and his wife hooked up across the pond.
- 18:57Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, they hooked up a upon and then they
- 19:02Speaker 2: weren't married at the time.
- 19:03Speaker 1: He said, you're oh, no, they were married at the time,
- 19:05Speaker 1: but they just took the opportunity to go across the
- 19:07Speaker 1: pond and enjoyed themselves and they come back to the party.
- 19:12Speaker 1: So while we were doing the Cupid shuffle.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Yeah, that's kind of a weird thing to do at
- 19:18Speaker 2: somebody I don't know any and and share it with you.
- 19:22Speaker 1: I was glad for him. Actually, I think I think
- 19:25Speaker 1: it was I think it was his wife that told us.
- 19:28Speaker 1: It's because we were hanging out with them one time
- 19:30Speaker 1: and they were like, oh, you know what, we had
- 19:31Speaker 1: so much fun at your wedding.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Yeah, we had so much fun. We had sex across it.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Were like, oh wow, yeah.
- 19:36Speaker 2: I mean, I guess it's different from my perspective, like
- 19:38Speaker 2: you guys, you know, it was a big giant party.
- 19:41Speaker 2: Like with Indian people, it's you know, arranged marriages, so
- 19:43Speaker 2: nobody's hooking up across the pond. Everybody's just like, man,
- 19:46Speaker 2: I hope he gets to know her you know.
- 19:50Speaker 1: See, that's where the Indian weddings have the stereotypes. But
- 19:54Speaker 1: like for our wedding, there aren't necessarily a whole lot
- 19:56Speaker 1: of stereotypes because every every couple is to typically different
- 20:00Speaker 1: for the wedding. Some people want to fancy your time,
- 20:03Speaker 1: and some people do what we did, which have a
- 20:06Speaker 1: field party in an unexed in an une. Damn it,
- 20:12Speaker 1: we had a field party in an unannexed part of Cleebird.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Now you can hear why that's such a hard word
- 20:19Speaker 1: to say in an un annexed. I'm still feeling the
- 20:24Speaker 1: effects of that reception thirteen years later.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Yeah, so that's uh, yeah, so that I mean, you
- 20:31Speaker 2: guys have the party like we do the seven days
- 20:33Speaker 2: of receptions before seven days after, because there's got to
- 20:35Speaker 2: be some incentive to go to a wedding where the
- 20:38Speaker 2: other guy doesn't know the other person. The other person
- 20:40Speaker 2: doesn't know that guy either. That's you know, that's uh.
- 20:43Speaker 2: That's when I used to make the joke on stage
- 20:45Speaker 2: when if they had a TV show called, uh, how
- 20:48Speaker 2: I Met Your Mother in India would be one episode. Yeah,
- 20:52Speaker 2: at the wedding.
- 20:56Speaker 3: I just remember how thankful we are we were that
- 20:58Speaker 3: someone didn't show up.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Yeah, oh yeah, they all were relieved.
- 21:05Speaker 2: There was a message sent. I believe like a was
- 21:08Speaker 2: it a congratulatory message or a shade?
- 21:14Speaker 1: But yeah, and it really was. It's like, and we're
- 21:17Speaker 1: now old enough that when we celebrate an anniversary, I'm
- 21:20Speaker 1: starting to wait for other people to start asking what's
- 21:23Speaker 1: your secret for being married so long?
- 21:25Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 21:25Speaker 1: And if you guys ever get married and you want
- 21:29Speaker 1: to ask me, hey, what's your secret for staying married
- 21:34Speaker 1: so long? I'm going to be honest with you, and
- 21:37Speaker 1: I'm going to tell you that don't take advice from
- 21:40Speaker 1: someone that's been married for a long time about how
- 21:42Speaker 1: to be married for a long time. And the reason
- 21:44Speaker 1: why is because you're not in that relationship. Because if
- 21:49Speaker 1: you ask any two people or any one person their
- 21:54Speaker 1: secret to happy marriage for so many years, it doesn't
- 21:59Speaker 1: matter what they say because you're not that person and
- 22:02Speaker 1: you're not married to that person. Everyone's situation is going
- 22:04Speaker 1: to be a little bit different, so you're gonna get,
- 22:07Speaker 1: you know, different answers, and they're not necessarily going to
- 22:09Speaker 1: apply to your relationship. So my best marriage advice on
- 22:12Speaker 1: my thirteenth wedding anniversary is don't take marriage advice from
- 22:15Speaker 1: other people. Learn as you go, learn from your mistakes.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Interesting because I asked that question quite a bit on stage,
- 22:23Speaker 2: and I always get it doesn't matter the number of
- 22:26Speaker 2: years it could be, you know, newlyweds to people that
- 22:29Speaker 2: have been married sixty years, and a lot of it
- 22:31Speaker 2: comes down to very similar answers, which like it's communication, honesty, patience,
- 22:40Speaker 2: understanding and growing in that relationship.
- 22:44Speaker 1: See there you go. You just said like five or
- 22:46Speaker 1: six different reasons. So there is no one thing that
- 22:50Speaker 1: is a secret to a happy marriage because one thing
- 22:53Speaker 1: cannot be the source of contentment in a relationship for
- 22:59Speaker 1: all people. Every relationship is different, every person is different.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Therefore every relationship is going to be different.
- 23:05Speaker 2: I just figured strap on it would be such an
- 23:07Speaker 2: awkward answer. Yeah.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Also that Yeah, your.

- 24:29Speaker 1: That's Raj. Today is Monday, May twenty six, twenty twenty five.
- 24:36Speaker 1: If you saw a fly on a spider web, would
- 24:39Speaker 1: you try to set it free?
- 24:43Speaker 2: No?
- 24:44Speaker 1: No, me either.
- 24:47Speaker 2: This is his dinner. That's his dinner.
- 24:49Speaker 1: This is really is one of the weirdest surveys I've
- 24:53Speaker 1: ever heard of. But a random poll asked people if
- 24:57Speaker 1: you saw a fly on a spider web, would you
- 25:00Speaker 1: set it free? And three percent of people said they would.
- 25:06Speaker 1: I wouldn't set a person trapped in a spider web free.
- 25:10Speaker 1: I'm certainly not going to try to set a fly free.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Are you? Are you that afraid of spiders or you
- 25:18Speaker 2: just don't want.
- 25:19Speaker 1: To If you think about it, if if if a
- 25:21Speaker 1: human got caught in a spider web. That would have
- 25:23Speaker 1: to be a bitty that would have to be a
- 25:25Speaker 1: pretty big spider and I'm I'm I'm not gonna tangle
- 25:28Speaker 1: with that. You like that scene in Lord Lord of
- 25:32Speaker 1: the Rings, you know when Frodo gets poked by the
- 25:35Speaker 1: spider wrapped up and then uh Sam goes and saves him.
- 25:40Speaker 1: If I'm Sam, that movie's over. Sorry, no more.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Have you seen Lord of the Rings? I have. I've
- 25:47Speaker 2: also read them as well, So that's where the that's
- 25:49Speaker 2: where the nerd side comes in. And that's when I
- 25:52Speaker 2: realized I don't like the fantasy stuff because we were
- 25:56Speaker 2: forced to read it in high school, you know, and
- 25:58Speaker 2: a ap English.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Yeah, is that something in the movie that was accurate
- 26:03Speaker 1: in the books, because I've never read the Tolkien books.
- 26:07Speaker 1: So when Frodo gets almost eaten by the spider that
- 26:11Speaker 1: was in the books. Yeah, it's a good thing. It wasn't,
- 26:16Speaker 1: was it, Sam Wise Gamgee, it's a good thing it was?
- 26:18Speaker 1: And Wise Gamgy, Yeah it was Dan Wise Gamgy. I'd
- 26:22Speaker 1: be alive for it will be dead and sorrow would
- 26:25Speaker 1: be you know, partying. I'm not fighting massive spiders. It's
- 26:32Speaker 1: not happening.
- 26:34Speaker 2: I mean, you go to the gym, you work out.
- 26:36Speaker 2: I think you could. I think you could just kind
- 26:37Speaker 2: of toss it and save your buddy.
- 26:39Speaker 1: And because of that, I'll I'll my legs will be
- 26:42Speaker 1: fresh as I run away, and you get eaten in
- 26:45Speaker 1: the spider web that you should have seen. I am.
- 26:48Speaker 1: I am really surprised. Though three percent of people said
- 26:50Speaker 1: they would actually try to save a fly in a
- 26:52Speaker 1: spider web.
- 26:54Speaker 2: I'm surprised it's that low. Yeah, really, yeah, I mean
- 26:59Speaker 2: I know people that we'll catch like we'll we'll like
- 27:02Speaker 2: wasps and like scorpions and like put them back outside
- 27:06Speaker 2: and I'm like, what are you doing?
- 27:07Speaker 1: Why are you touching that?
- 27:09Speaker 2: Yeah, so they're like, oh, I don't want to kill it.
- 27:11Speaker 2: It's you know, blah blah blah whatever. And they're all
- 27:14Speaker 2: almost all very very young and believe in like this,
- 27:18Speaker 2: the sanctity of that scorpion soul. They they want to
- 27:23Speaker 2: make sure that they're right in the eyes of God,
- 27:26Speaker 2: they're not killing in one of his creations. And I've
- 27:28Speaker 2: seen that as well. So I'll f a wasp.
- 27:32Speaker 1: Up, yes, amen. So when it comes to like spiders
- 27:37Speaker 1: and scorpions, I'll try the cup method. To scoop it
- 27:39Speaker 1: up and take it outside and then try to take
- 27:42Speaker 1: it four or five miles away and dump it. I
- 27:46Speaker 1: remember one night I got home and Tara's telling me.
- 27:49Speaker 1: She's like, there's a spider. There's a spider in the
- 27:51Speaker 1: lund room. Spider and laund room. So I went and
- 27:52Speaker 1: got the Dicki's cup and the Fuzzies cup, the two
- 27:55Speaker 1: you know, big cups, and try to get in there.
- 27:56Speaker 1: And she wasn't being crazy female because it was a spider.
- 28:00Speaker 1: And he's like e because she's not like that. But
- 28:03Speaker 1: it was a big spider. It was it was it
- 28:05Speaker 1: was one of those wolf spiders. So it's a house spider,
- 28:07Speaker 1: but it was a big one. And I scoop it
- 28:10Speaker 1: up and she's like, where are you gonna take it?
- 28:12Speaker 1: I'm taking it out the front door. I said, I'm
- 28:14Speaker 1: gonna take it like, you know, two or three houses down.
- 28:16Speaker 1: She's like, no, go four or five, Like oh okay.
- 28:19Speaker 2: Yes, that's when you that's when you find out she
- 28:22Speaker 2: doesn't like the neighbor four or five houses down and
- 28:24Speaker 2: has nothing to do. Bite that bitch over there.
- 28:31Speaker 1: So I kind of get how some people may not
- 28:34Speaker 1: want to just smush things right, away, especially if they're larger,
- 28:38Speaker 1: like like just a couple of weeks ago, there was
- 28:40Speaker 1: a tarantula outside the front door. Yes, I'm not gonna
- 28:45Speaker 1: smash a tarantula. That's gonna be gross. That's gonna like it.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Stuff's gonna shoot out, it's gonna be nasty. I'm gon
- 28:51Speaker 1: have to clean that up. I'm never gonna look at
- 28:53Speaker 1: that shoe the same way again. That's just gonna be gross.
- 28:55Speaker 1: I don't want to see it. I'd rather I'd rather
- 28:57Speaker 1: shoe it away like I did as a is to
- 29:00Speaker 1: have that gross mess in my hands. But I'm with you, uh,
- 29:03Speaker 1: if it's a if it's a wasp or something like that, Yeah, yeah,
- 29:07Speaker 1: I'm with you. That wasp right up.
- 29:10Speaker 3: Yeahs actually get a bad rap. I mean they're they're
- 29:13Speaker 3: for the most part, really fairly harmless to humans and
- 29:17Speaker 3: and just big and gross looking. But they eat bugs
- 29:20Speaker 3: and everything else. Yeah, and wasp and especially a scorpion.
- 29:27Speaker 3: That scorpion is gonna go meet it's maker.
- 29:30Speaker 1: I believe that's I believe that's the reason why there's
- 29:33Speaker 1: a hold currently on the flamethrower that I'm trying to
- 29:36Speaker 1: purchase from Amazon, because it's technically for the weeds. But
- 29:44Speaker 1: let's be serious. If I see a scorpion that flamethrowers,
- 29:51Speaker 1: that flamethrower is going to be dual purpose.
- 29:53Speaker 2: Now would you take the would you take the flamethrower
- 29:56Speaker 2: to the tarantula? No? No, no, okay.
- 30:01Speaker 1: And you have to be careful though, because I mean,
- 30:04Speaker 1: if I set fire to the scorpion, I have to
- 30:07Speaker 1: keep in mind that I may have just made it
- 30:09Speaker 1: angrier and now it's coming at me on.
- 30:12Speaker 2: Fire fire scorpion. Yeah, that's a that's a horrible way
- 30:17Speaker 2: to go. That's even explaining that in the emergency room
- 30:21Speaker 2: would be hilarious. Like, okay, So here's the deal.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 30:24Speaker 2: I set that bastard on fire.
- 30:28Speaker 3: Just so we know ahead of time when we see
- 30:31Speaker 3: the alert that Saint Thomas is on fire, do we
- 30:34Speaker 3: do we just delete.
- 30:35Speaker 2: All these shows.
- 30:40Speaker 1: Just assumed that it was me.
- 30:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll get away. I'll tell you what.
- 30:44Speaker 1: Here's what I'll do if if if that flamethrower order
- 30:49Speaker 1: goes through Amazon and gets delivered, I'll let you know
- 30:53Speaker 1: so we can time stamp the shows so we can
- 30:57Speaker 1: legally protect me.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll just I'll just throw on the Indian accent
- 31:01Speaker 2: and pretend to be Vickram from Bombay. I don't know
- 31:05Speaker 2: any Dan.

- 32:03Speaker 1: the Treehouse Show. I'm Daniel Malley along with Trey Trenholman
- 32:05Speaker 1: Raj Sharma. Today is Monday, May six, twenty twenty five.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Let's celebrate with some birthdays today. Brandy Cyrus turns thirty
- 32:17Speaker 1: eight today. That is Miley's less famous older sister. M
- 32:24Speaker 1: and Tara and I were talking about this just the
- 32:26Speaker 1: other day, wondering about, uh, Miley Cyrus's voice and why
- 32:30Speaker 1: it sounds that way. I just assumed it was from
- 32:33Speaker 1: cocaine and smoking. But I just read a couple of
- 32:38Speaker 1: days ago that she's got some type of a I
- 32:42Speaker 1: forget what it's called, like a Ryankey's syndrome or something
- 32:48Speaker 1: like that, that affects her vocal cords. And she has
- 32:51Speaker 1: a polyop on her vocal cord. So the reason why
- 32:54Speaker 1: Miley Cyrus's voice sounds the way it does is partly
- 32:58Speaker 1: because of Apollo that's on the vocal cord that she
- 33:01Speaker 1: doesn't want to have removed because if she does, it'll
- 33:05Speaker 1: change her voice. I thought she did have it removed,
- 33:09Speaker 1: and the deal was that she had to quit smoking.
- 33:11Speaker 2: That's what I thought. I read when she was talking
- 33:14Speaker 2: about a duet that she was doing with Dolly Parton,
- 33:16Speaker 2: and she kind of brought it up, like what's going on?
- 33:18Speaker 2: Your voice keeps getting raspier and deeper, and it's because
- 33:23Speaker 2: she was apparently a chain smoker. And I thought, if
- 33:27Speaker 2: I read, maybe that's the same thing that she didn't
- 33:30Speaker 2: want to have it removed. But I thought it was
- 33:31Speaker 2: said that she went and had the surgery done, but
- 33:34Speaker 2: that's what got her to quit the she's I think
- 33:36Speaker 2: she's sober now. I don't think she does alcohol drugs
- 33:40Speaker 2: or cigarettes. But that could be wrong. But yeah, good
- 33:45Speaker 2: for her. I mean to quit all that stuff to
- 33:49Speaker 2: keep the voice. Like I always wondered stuff like with
- 33:52Speaker 2: like Freddie Mercury was like a massive chain smoker, Like
- 33:54Speaker 2: what his voice would have sounded like had he lived
- 33:57Speaker 2: and Queen went on for another twenty years, Like what
- 34:00Speaker 2: that would have sounded like? It's not gonna be the same.
- 34:04Speaker 1: Like instead of Freddie Mercury, it sounds a little more
- 34:06Speaker 1: like Tom Waite, like they just they just don't have
- 34:15Speaker 1: the same sound.
- 34:16Speaker 2: What is what is her? What does her sister do?
- 34:20Speaker 1: I have no idea.
- 34:21Speaker 2: Interesting, that's good, okay. I mean she's out of the limelight,
- 34:24Speaker 2: so I mean I didn't know that there was I
- 34:26Speaker 2: know there's a couple of I think she has a
- 34:28Speaker 2: brother that's a musician as well.
- 34:31Speaker 1: I just clicked to see on Instagram Brandy Cyrus one
- 34:37Speaker 1: million followers. It says here she'll be at the Las
- 34:42Speaker 1: Vegas Sphere or she's at the Las Vegas Sphere now
- 34:45Speaker 1: until June twenty First she's oh, she's the resident DJ
- 34:49Speaker 1: at the wind Is.
- 34:50Speaker 2: Your actress DJ and podcast host? So unemployed? Nut? Yes?
- 35:00Speaker 1: Yes, that's accurate. Sorry, I'm looking at the other birthdays. Okay.
- 35:08Speaker 1: So the lead singer of the Fray, Isaac Slade, is
- 35:11Speaker 1: forty four today. He plays Morgan Brody on CSI, or
- 35:16Speaker 1: she plays Morgan Brody on CSI. Elizabeth Harnwa or Hornoy's
- 35:21Speaker 1: you say she's forty six, Lauren Hill turns fifty. Matt Stone,
- 35:25Speaker 1: co creator of South Park, is fifty four today. And
- 35:30Speaker 1: I'm going to take this opportunity to tell you about
- 35:33Speaker 1: a lesser known project that the South Park guys did
- 35:36Speaker 1: years and years ago. If you've not seen it, you
- 35:38Speaker 1: need to see the movie or Gasmo. That's the story.
- 35:43Speaker 1: That's the story where Trey Parker is a Mormon missionary
- 35:50Speaker 1: and he knocks on a house in the San Fernando
- 35:52Speaker 1: Valley that just so happened to be shooting some adult
- 35:55Speaker 1: films and he gets sucked into the Tawdrey adult film
- 36:00Speaker 1: world of Los Angeles as a Mormon missionary and turns
- 36:05Speaker 1: into a superhero in the process. Well, I highly recommend it.
- 36:10Speaker 1: I saw that in the movie theater my senior year
- 36:12Speaker 1: of high school.
- 36:14Speaker 2: Was it a double feature with Ice Pirates beforehand?
- 36:17Speaker 1: Now, Ice Pirates came out in nineteen eighty four. This
- 36:20Speaker 1: came out in nineteen ninety eight.
- 36:22Speaker 2: So and yes, for the people that are there's the
- 36:28Speaker 2: movie is a little bit accurate. All of the porn
- 36:30Speaker 2: that you see is filmed in the San Fernando Valley.
- 36:34Speaker 2: I know that because I lived in the San Fernando
- 36:36Speaker 2: Valley for twelve years.
- 36:38Speaker 1: And you were you an extra? Were you an unwitting
- 36:42Speaker 1: extra in multiple adult films? Like just in the background.
- 36:45Speaker 2: Nope. But a buddy mine came to visit and we
- 36:47Speaker 2: went to El Toedo to get some Mexican like Mexican
- 36:50Speaker 2: food and have their happy hour. I think it was
- 36:52Speaker 2: like two dollars Margarita's. And he started nudging, like, hey man,
- 36:56Speaker 2: you know who that is? And I'm like no, He's like,
- 36:58Speaker 2: that's mister Marcus. And I was like what is Is
- 37:01Speaker 2: he an actor? And he's like no, it's an adult
- 37:04Speaker 2: film star and I was like oh. And then he
- 37:05Speaker 2: started looking around the room and that's where they all
- 37:07Speaker 2: go for happy hour, apparently after a rough day's work.
- 37:11Speaker 1: I guess, well, look, if you're shooting with mister Marcus
- 37:15Speaker 1: on any given day, that is a rough day of work.
- 37:18Speaker 2: I'm not familiar with his his his catalog, I don't
- 37:22Speaker 2: think everybody to I think all you need to know
- 37:24Speaker 2: is that he's is that he's a male porn star
- 37:26Speaker 2: and his first name is mister.

- 38:21Speaker 1: is the Treehouse Show. I'm Daniel Mally. That's trade trendhom
- 38:24Speaker 1: Heat is Raj Sharma. One more important story here on
- 38:29Speaker 1: Memorial Day twenty twenty five. Important because it's important that
- 38:33Speaker 1: we mention our service members and our military, our branches
- 38:39Speaker 1: of the military, and how important they are to the
- 38:41Speaker 1: safety and security of this great nation. And the way
- 38:44Speaker 1: they do it sometimes is not the prettiest way, but
- 38:48Speaker 1: that doesn't mean it's the only way. What I'm referring
- 38:51Speaker 1: to is there is an army battalion that has recently
- 38:55Speaker 1: banned the use of profanity. Okay, luck enforcing that in
- 39:02Speaker 1: the middle of a war. But let's see the forty
- 39:06Speaker 1: third a judent battalion issued a memo last month instructing
- 39:11Speaker 1: military personnel to refrain from uttering expletives. The Army confirmed
- 39:15Speaker 1: this an April seventeenth memo with a subject line that
- 39:19Speaker 1: read Profanity Free Campus made it clear that the use
- 39:22Speaker 1: of profanity, vulgar language, or rude gestures or remarks is
- 39:26Speaker 1: prohibited for soldiers operating during duty hours at the unit,
- 39:30Speaker 1: which is stationed at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri. The
- 39:35Speaker 1: memo specified that bad language will not be tolerated during meetings, briefings,
- 39:39Speaker 1: or training exercises, and cannot be used when speaking with peers, trainees,
- 39:43Speaker 1: or superiors. Clothing will not be allowed to depict any
- 39:46Speaker 1: offensive language either. According to Fort Leonard Wood spokesperson Tiffany
- 39:51Speaker 1: wood wheneverse you got that job, She says, this is
- 39:55Speaker 1: a policy to correct actions that took place within the
- 39:57Speaker 1: unit based on results of an investigation can abducted earlier
- 40:01Speaker 1: this year. What were they saying in that Army unit?
- 40:05Speaker 1: That was so bad that the United States Army said, yeah,
- 40:09Speaker 1: we can't have them with the body mouths anymore.
- 40:14Speaker 2: I don't know if it would be like somebody complained, right,
- 40:17Speaker 2: it's got to be that. You got to be that
- 40:18Speaker 2: person where you're like, hey, I don't like the way
