  When we think of demonic possession, oftentimes it
• 0:38
  involves images of Hollywood films.

  But according to psychiatrist Richard Gallagher, very few
• 0:46
  cases are actually the real deal.

  And of those rare few, some of them are so over the top with
• 0:54
  what takes place. Who sees the supernatural
• 0:57
  manifestations and truly effects all those involved?

  This case is one of them. This is the untold story of the

  Amon's family haunting, also known as the Exorcism of Latoya
• 1:14
  Amon's or the House of 200 Demons.

  In November of 2011, Latoya Ammons moved her three small
• 1:38
  children and her mother, Rosa Campbell, into a new home in a
• 1:44
  seemingly quiet neighborhood on Carolina St. in Gary, IN.
• 1:50
  The family was ready for a new start and the children couldn't
• 1:54
  wait to move in. What they would discover is the
• 1:58
  home of their dreams would turn out to become something more
• 2:02
  reminiscent of their nightmares. At first, all seemed to be
• 2:08
  normal and life was going well for the family.
• 2:12
  It wasn't until December that they began to experience strange
• 2:16
  and unexplainable happenings in the dead of winter.
• 2:21
  Latoya Amens had noticed the large swarms of horseflies
• 2:25
  invading her screened in front porch.
• 2:28
  She and her mother would kill them, but every single day they
• 2:31
  would return in what appeared to be greater numbers.
• 2:36
  After some time, the flies disappeared, loling Latoya into
• 2:40
  a false sense of security and filling her with a feeling of
• 2:44
  relief. But despite the absence of the
• 2:47
  flies, the strange happenings would persist.
• 2:52
  Every night around midnight, when everybody was in bed, they
• 2:57
  would hear footsteps climbing the basement stairs.
• 3:01
  In a state of terrified shock, Latoya and her mother would
• 3:05
  listen as the steps got louder and louder, eventually reaching
• 3:11
  the top. Once at the top of the stairs,
• 3:15
  the door from the basement to the kitchen would open, even if
• 3:19
  the door had been previously locked.
• 3:22
  But when the unexplained noises were investigated, all that
• 3:26
  would be found is the basement door open to the pitch black
• 3:31
  void below. 1 quiet night, Latoya was awoken by the sound
• 3:38
  of her closet door opening. As she turned to inspect the
• 3:42
  source of the disturbance, she saw a tall shadowy figure emerge
• 3:49
  from her closet and then it exited through her door and into
• 3:55
  the living room. Latoya leapt from her bed and
• 3:59
  followed the figure and what she would discover would make her
• 4:03
  blood run cold. In the living room, she saw a
• 4:08
  silhouette of a very large man who was pacing back and forth
• 4:13
  throughout her living room. Who was this man?
• 4:17
  What did he want, and more importantly, what was he doing
• 4:21
  in her home? Latoya instinctually turned on
• 4:25
  the light in an attempt to confront the intruder, but to
• 4:28
  her surprise, the man had disappeared.
• 4:33
  Scared and confused, Latoya investigated further, and what
• 4:37
  she would find defied all logic. On the floor, in the same spot
• 4:43
  where the figure had been pacing, were a series of large,
• 4:47
  muddy boot prints. How could something that was
• 4:50
  conceivably hallucinated have left a physical mark?
• 4:54
  Was this an entity attempting to convey a message, and if so,
• 5:00
  what was it trying to say? These manifestations, mysterious
• 5:05
  and off putting as they were, did not scare the family.
• 5:09
  If anything, it just made them generally uneasy.
• 5:13
  It wasn't until March 10th of 2012 that those feelings would
• 5:18
  transform into pure, unadulterated horror.
• 5:23
  On the date in question, Latoya and Campbell were hosting Awake,
• 5:28
  mourning the loss of a family member, which was attended by a
• 5:32
  small group of friends and family.
• 5:36
  The wake had lasted long into the night and at around 2:00 AM
• 5:41
  was abruptly interrupted by the sound of screaming.
• 5:45
  Latoya had been in her mother's room with her 12 year old
• 5:49
  daughter and her daughter's friend when suddenly Latoya
• 5:54
  began screaming for her mother. Rosa sprinted into the room to
• 5:59
  find her 12 year old granddaughter unconscious and
• 6:03
  levitating over the bed. After gathering their bearings,
• 6:08
  the family and friends surrounded the bed and began to
• 6:12
  pray. As they prayed, the girl was
• 6:15
  slowly lowered back down and onto the bed.
• 6:19
  What is going on? Campbell thought.
• 6:21
  Why is this happening? When the girl awoke, she had no
• 6:26
  recollection of what had just taken place.
• 6:29
  Soon after, the visibly shaken and traumatized visitors left
• 6:33
  the house and would ultimately refuse to ever return.
• 6:39
  What began as a place of family and safety had overnight become
• 6:43
  a place of terror and loneliness.
• 6:48
  Unsure of where else to turn, Latoya and Rosa called a slew of
• 6:52
  local churches, but most refused to listen.
• 6:56
  Eventually, they would get a hold of a church that was
• 6:59
  willing to hear their story, and once it was heard, the
• 7:03
  circumstance was undeniable. To the family's shock, officials
• 7:09
  at the church informed them that what they were dealing with was
• 7:13
  in fact a demonic occupation of their home.
• 7:18
  At the recommendation of the church, Latoya and her mother
• 7:21
  cleaned out the entire home with bleach and ammonia, poured olive
• 7:26
  oil on the children's hands and feet, and smeared oil in the
• 7:31
  shape of a cross on their foreheads.
• 7:34
  Seeking further guidance and expertise, they reached out to
• 7:38
  two clairvoyants who told them that their home was beset by
• 7:43
  over 200 demons. The family was instructed that
• 7:48
  their best course of action would be to move.
• 7:52
  However, they were strapped for cash and moving was not an
• 7:57
  option at the time. Instead, Latoya, at the advice
• 8:02
  of the clairvoyance, made an altar in the basement.
• 8:06
  The altar consisted of an end table covered in a wide sheet,
• 8:11
  and on the sheet was placed a candle and the statues of Mary,
• 8:16
  Joseph, and Jesus. She also covered the walls in
• 8:20
  the basement in salt, which was believed to add an extra layer
• 8:25
  of protection from the demonic. Dressed in white clothing,
• 8:30
  Latoya and a friend conducted A cleansing ritual inside of the
• 8:33
  house. They burned sage and sulfur,
• 8:38
  starting upstairs and working their way all the way to the
• 8:41
  basement, drawing crosses in the smoke in every room.
• 8:47
  Her friend read Psalm 91 as they proceeded.
• 8:51
  You will not fear the terror of night, or the arrow that flies
• 8:55
  by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the
• 9:01
  plague that destroys it midday. After the ritual was performed,
• 9:07
  nothing out of the ordinary happened for about 3 days, and
• 9:12
  after those three days passed, the situation became infinitely
• 9:17
  worse. Latoya started to notice that
• 9:21
  her children were acting strange for seemingly no reason
• 9:25
  whatsoever. They began talking in sinister,
• 9:29
  deep voices, and their smiles became twisted and curled.
• 9:36
  She also reported that their eyes appeared to bulge.
• 9:40
  Her children were acting like completely different people.
• 9:45
  When the children's appearances would return to normal following
• 9:48
  these episodes, they would have no recollection of anything ever
• 9:53
  having been different. Latoya's youngest son would sit
• 9:57
  in the closet and talk to another boy that nobody could
• 10:01
  see. The boy would say, I've been
• 10:04
  here long enough, I came to kill and I'm going to kill and spoke
• 10:10
  with her son so very descriptively about what it was
• 10:14
  like to be murdered. Once, Latoya's son was thrown
• 10:19
  from the closet, almost as if he had been tossed, hitting his
• 10:24
  sister and knocking her into a headboard, which gave her an
• 10:28
  injury that required stitches. Her daughter would later tell a
• 10:33
  psychiatrist that sometimes she felt as if she was being held
• 10:37
  down and choked, unable to speak or move, while voices would say
• 10:45
  to her that she would never see her family again and that she
• 10:50
  would be dead in 20 minutes. Latoya believed that she and her
• 10:55
  children were being possessed. Randomly, Latoya's body
• 11:00
  temperature would rapidly raise and she would begin to shake,
• 11:05
  falling in and out of consciousness.
• 11:08
  Rosa, however, never experienced anything demonic or strange
• 11:13
  towards her. To this, she credits her
• 11:16
  guardian Angel. Some nights, what happened to
• 11:20
  the family was so severe that Latoya opted for them to spend
• 11:24
  the night at a hotel. Fearing the worst for her
• 11:27
  children, Latoya and her mother took the children to see their
• 11:31
  doctor in April of 2012. Upon entering the exam room, the
• 11:37
  doctor said he was immediately overtaken by sense of terror and
• 11:42
  dread, and this was entirely unexplainable.

  As Latoya told the story of what the family had been
• 11:50
  experiencing, the doctor was writing down notes that said
• 11:54
  delusional, delusional, ghosts in the home and hallucinations.

  Out of nowhere, the youngest son began aggressively cursing at
• 12:05
  the doctor and a demonic voice. Then he was lifted high into the
• 12:11
  air and thrown into a wall without a single person having
• 12:16
  touched him. The boy passed out and at the
• 12:20
  same time, so did his older brother.
• 12:23
  Medical staff tried shaking them awake, but they were completely
• 12:27
  unconscious. Someone working at the doctor's
• 12:30
  office called 911 and eight police officers, along with
• 12:35
  paramedics arrived and took the boys to the hospital.
• 12:39
  Latoya followed and asked hospital personnel to put olive
• 12:43
  oil on her sons, to which they simply just laughed in her face.
• 12:49
  Unable to talk to her children or even to decide what she would
• 12:53
  do or where she was going to start, she began to pray.
• 12:58
  At this moment, their nightmare resumed.

  Once again, both boys awoke. The oldest of the two acted
• 13:06
  normally, but the youngest began screaming and attempted to
• 13:11
  attack everybody near him. In total, it would take 5 grown
• 13:16
  men to fully restrain him. A hospital employee who believed
• 13:20
  that the boys were being abused contacted the Department of
• 13:24
  Child Safety, citing Latoya's seemingly obvious mental
• 13:28
  illness. DCS sent out family case manager
• 13:33
  Valerie Washington, who concluded in her report that
• 13:38
  neither Latoya nor her children were in bad health or suffered
• 13:43
  from any bruises, cuts or burns. The psychiatrist at the hospital
• 13:49
  also evaluated Latoya and found that she was, in fact, sane.
• 13:54
  As Washington interviewed the family, Latoya's youngest son
• 13:58
  began to growl and his eyes rolled back into his head.

  He grabbed his brother around the neck, squeezing tightly and
• 14:08
  refusing to let go until his hands were physically pried from
• 14:13
  one another. Later that same day, Washington
• 14:18
  and RN and the boy's grandmother took them into a small exam room
• 14:23
  to interview them alone. While in the room, the youngest
• 14:28
  son began to growl yet again, looking into the eyes of his
• 14:32
  older brother. In a deep demonic voice he said
• 14:37
  it's time to die and I will kill you.
• 14:42
  At this moment, the older brother been into a running
• 14:46
  stance and sprinted directly at his grandmother head butting her
• 14:51
  in the stomach as hard as he possibly could, over and over
• 14:56
  again. Rosa grabbed the boy's hand and
• 15:00
  said that you are not my grandson, you are a demon.
• 15:06
  Then something terrifying happened.
• 15:09
  With that same twisted smile and look of pure malevolence, he
• 15:15
  walked backwards towards the wall, into the shock and awe of
• 15:19
  everybody, walked backwards up the wall and onto the ceiling,
• 15:25
  still holding his grandmother's hand the entire time, before
• 15:31
  flipping off the ceiling and back on to the floor, landing on
• 15:36
  his feet. After a few moments of stunned
• 15:39
  silence, Washington and the RN ran out of the room and found
• 15:45
  the doctor. They explained what they had
• 15:48
  just witnessed, but the doctor did not believe them, stating
• 15:53
  that he thought it had to be some sort of trick.
• 15:56
  The doctor entered the room and requested the boy to do the
• 16:00
  trick again so that he could see it.
• 16:03
  The boy replied that he did not remember what had happened and
• 16:07
  was unable to recreate it. The RN, who was far from a
• 16:11
  skeptic of the demonic, said that he fully believed what was
• 16:16
  happening to the boys was the product of possession and the
• 16:22
  case manager agreed, stating that there was an evil influence
• 16:27
  affecting the Amon's family. Latoya's youngest son was
• 16:32
  admitted to the hospital and she spent the night with him while
• 16:36
  Rosa took the two older children to stay with a relative.
• 16:41
  The next day was the youngest boy's 8th birthday.
• 16:45
  DCS told Rosa to bring the other children back to the hospital as
• 16:49
  they could further discuss what had happened.
• 16:52
  The family celebrated with cake and even sang songs, but once
• 16:57
  the party was over, Latoya received soul crushing news.

  Washington told her that DCS would be taking custody of her
• 17:06
  children as they believed they were being spiritually and
• 17:11
  emotionally neglected. The family cried together.
• 17:15
  They did not want to be separated, and they didn't
• 17:18
  understand why DCS had come to this decision, but
• 17:22
  unfortunately, there was nothing that they could do.
• 17:26
  On the morning of April 20th of 2012, Latoya would receive some
• 17:32
  rather unexpected assistance. The hospital chaplain contacted
• 17:37
  Reverend Magineau. The reverend had never performed
• 17:40
  an exorcism before, nor had he ever been asked, but he agreed
• 17:46
  to help as much as he could. Visiting Latoya and Rosa at
• 17:50
  their home on Carolina St. he interviewed them.
• 17:55
  While they spoke, Rosa commented on a flickering light in the
• 17:58
  bathroom, which stopped each time the reverend walked over to
• 18:03
  him. It must be scared of me, he
• 18:06
  thought. The interview would be
• 18:08
  interrupted once again when Rosa pointed out that the window
• 18:12
  blinds in the kitchen kept swinging even at the absence of
• 18:16
  an air current in their home. Maginot also said that he saw
• 18:22
  wet footprints in the living room, and during the interview,
• 18:26
  Latoya complained of a migraine. The reverend wondered whether
• 18:30
  this could be attributed to the demonic activity, so he placed a
• 18:34
  crucifix on her head. She then began convulsing.
• 18:39
  After interviewing the two women for four hours, Reverend
• 18:43
  Maginell was convinced that the family was being tormented by
• 18:47
  demons and that they had overtaken their home.
• 18:51
  He blessed the house and told them the house wasn't safe and
• 18:55
  that they needed to leave immediately, so the two moved in
• 19:00
  with a relative. A week later, DCS sent
• 19:04
  Washington to the Carolina St. home to verify whether or not
• 19:08
  the home was safe for the children to live in with her.
• 19:12
  She had a Lake County police officer and two other assisting
• 19:16
  officers, one being the Gary Police Captain.
• 19:20
  Latoya refused to go inside, so Rosa took the group into the
• 19:24
  home to inspect it. In the basement underneath the
• 19:28
  stairs was a dirt patch from which Rosa said that she
• 19:33
  believed the demons emanated from.
• 19:37
  The captain said that he believed in ghosts but not in
• 19:40
  demons and would later say that changed after he visited the
• 19:45
  home on Carolina St. During the interview with Rosa,
• 19:51
  multiple electronic devices carried by the officers
• 19:55
  malfunctioned even though the batteries had just been
• 19:59
  replaced. An audio recording taken by one
• 20:03
  of the officers, when played back revealed A disembodied
• 20:07
  voice whispering to them. They also took multiple photos
• 20:12
  which contained silhouettes and when enhanced.
• 20:17
  One even contained a face at his home.
• 20:21
  The police captain said that his garage door refused to open and
• 20:25
  the driver's seat of his personal vehicle began moving
• 20:29
  erratically on its own. After it was inspected by a
• 20:33
  mechanic, it was revealed that the motor that controlled the
• 20:37
  seat was broken and that if it malfunctioned while the captain
• 20:42
  was driving it could have resulted in a distraction which
• 20:46
  would have caused a serious accident.
• 20:49
  Some time would pass before the same group, accompanied by two
• 20:53
  other officers as well as DCS case manager Samantha Illick
• 20:59
  would return to the home. Illick went in place of
• 21:02
  Washington as Washington refused to re enter the home.
• 21:08
  As they entered the basement, Ilik noticed a strange liquid
• 21:12
  dripping. When she touched it, I noticed
• 21:15
  that it felt both slippery and sticky between her fingers.
• 21:20
  Magino wanted to check the dirt spot under the stairs for items
• 21:24
  that may be cursed, as this would offer a solid explanation
• 21:28
  as to what the family was dealing with, but upon
• 21:32
  searching, he would find nothing of significance.
• 21:36
  Magino blessed some salt and spread it throughout the
• 21:40
  basement, and the group went back upstairs.
• 21:44
  While in the living room, Ilik began to notice something
• 21:47
  strange happening. Her pinky finger on her left
• 21:51
  hand began to tingle and turn white.
• 21:55
  She complained that her finger suddenly began to feel as if it
• 21:59
  was broken. Then out of nowhere, she began
• 22:04
  to feel as if she was having a panic attack and was unable to
• 22:08
  breathe. The police captain, who had many
• 22:11
  times before seen the true horrors of society, refused to
• 22:16
  stay in the house past dark and requested that the inspection of
• 22:21
  the house be hurried. Ilick and Latoya left the house
• 22:26
  and the officers continued their investigation.
• 22:30
  On the main floor of the house, they noticed an oil like
• 22:33
  substance dripping from the blinds.
• 22:35
  Thinking that Latoya or Rosa may have poured oil on them to sell
• 22:39
  their story, they wiped it up and sealed the room for 25
• 22:44
  minutes. To their confusion, the oil had
• 22:49
  reappeared. Could this have been the same
• 22:52
  liquid that Ilik had encountered in the basement?
• 22:56
  Upon speaking with Maginot, they were told that the liquid was in
• 23:00
  fact a manifestation of the demonic.
• 23:04
  The Reverend would take notes of his findings and requested
• 23:08
  permission from a Bishop to perform an exorcism on Latoya
• 23:13
  herself, but his request was denied.
• 23:19
  Instead, the Bishop told him to contact priests who have
• 23:22
  themselves performed exorcisms, but they were no help either.
• 23:28
  That night, Magino blessed the home in order to cleanse it
• 23:32
  before proceeding. A minor exorcism would follow,
• 23:37
  for which he did not need church approval.
• 23:40
  The ritual consisted of prayers and appeals for the demons to be
• 23:44
  cast out. Ilik and the two officers were
• 23:49
  in attendance. After the ritual had finished,
• 23:53
  Ilik said that something unexplainable was definitely
• 23:56
  going on, but stopped short of admitting that it was demonic.

  Regardless, she had chills the entire time, stating that it
• 24:07
  felt like something was in the room with them and breathing
• 24:11
  down their necks. Within a week of attending the
• 24:14
  exorcism, she too began to experience problems, but hers
• 24:20
  were medical in nature. She suffered third degree burns
• 24:24
  from a motorcycle, broke three ribs jet skiing, and broke her
• 24:28
  hand as well as her ankle all within the same month.

  It is believed that these injuries were a result of her
• 24:37
  attendance during the ritual performed by the reverend.
• 24:41
  After the minor exorcism was successful, the Bishop would
• 24:46
  give Maginot permission to conduct a proper exorcism on
• 24:50
  Latoya. He stated that the ritual was
• 24:54
  the same as the one he had originally conducted, however,
• 24:58
  it was stronger because this time he had the backing of the
• 25:03
  Catholic Church. Before the exorcism was to be
• 25:06
  performed, Maginot tasked Latoya with researching the names of
• 25:12
  the demons that were tormenting her.
• 25:15
  During the research, Latoya complained of a physical illness
• 25:19
  and that her computer kept forcibly shutting itself down.
• 25:24
  After some time, she was able to locate the names of the demons
• 25:29
  who she believed were causing her and her family so much
• 25:33
  trouble. One of them was Beelzebub, the
• 25:38
  Lord of Flies. Others were demons that she
• 25:42
  found which specifically torture and harm children.
• 25:47
  Magineau would go on to perform 3 exorcisms on Latoya at his
• 25:52
  church. The first two were conducted in
• 25:56
  English and the last was in Latin.

  During these exorcisms, Maginot pressed a crucifix to her head
• 26:05
  and chanted. I cast you out, unclean spirit,
• 26:10
  along with every satanic power of the enemy, every specter from
• 26:15
  hell, and all of your companions and the name of the Lord Jesus
• 26:21
  Christ. Each time his voice became
• 26:24
  louder and more forceful, which worked in weakening the demons.
• 26:31
  Latoya convulsed violently, showing off the demons true
• 26:35
  strength to Majino. During this time, Latoya prayed
• 26:41
  with him until it became too physically painful for her to
• 26:44
  continue. She equated the pain that she
• 26:47
  was feeling to the pain of childbirth, but stated that the
• 26:52
  pain was nowhere near natural. Eventually, Latoya fell asleep
• 26:58
  and the ritual had ended. And between the 2nd and 3rd
• 27:03
  exorcism, which were conducted several weeks apart, a woman who
• 27:08
  had helped with the rituals was tasked with setting up a backup
• 27:12
  plan in case Latoya had issues. The woman who wrote the name of
• 27:17
  a demon on a piece of paper, put it in an envelope and surrounded
• 27:22
  it with salt that had been blessed.
• 27:26
  If Latoya had problems, the woman was to burn the envelope
• 27:30
  containing the name of the demon.
• 27:32
  Within that time, Latoya and her mother had moved into a new home
• 27:36
  in Indianapolis, a home which Magino had previously blessed.
• 27:42
  One night as the storm raged outside, Latoya would call
• 27:47
  Magino, complaining that she was having horrifically bad
• 27:51
  nightmares pertaining to demons. So the woman was instructed to
• 27:58
  burn the envelope and after this, the nightmares would
• 28:03
  cease. Time would pass and new tenants
• 28:07
  would eventually occupy the home on Carolina St., and the
• 28:11
  landlord would say that since the incidents involving the
• 28:15
  Amon's family, no other paranormal activity had been
• 28:19
  reported at the residence. Latoya would eventually regain
• 28:23
  custody of her children in November of 2012, and DCS would
• 28:29
  regularly check up on them until January of 2013 when they would
• 28:34
  ultimately close their case. They noted that there were no
• 28:38
  demonic presences reported at their home in Indianapolis and
• 28:44
  that her children felt much safer within its walls.
• 28:48
  Amos thanked God for guiding them through, and the family
• 28:52
  would go on to live happily and quietly without any semblance of
• 28:58
  demonic intervention. So if we accept at face value
• 29:03
  those who witnessed these bizarre and demonic
• 29:06
  manifestations, we must ask just what could have caused the
• 29:11
  haunting or the summoning of the entities?
• 29:15
  Did Latoya mess with something that she shouldn't have?
• 29:19
  Was it something indeed invoked within the property itself at
• 29:23
  some point? Or could it have been
• 29:25
  generational? It's hard to tell, but what is
• 29:29
  incredible is that nurses, officers and other officials of
• 29:34
  the state bore witness to these happenings.
• 29:38
  Although not descriptive as some of my other videos, the
• 29:42
  information at times is scarce, so I did the best I could to
• 29:46
  piece everything together. It is believed that the other
• 29:49
  199 demons were under or serving Beelzebub, which certainly made
• 29:55
  himself present with the swarms of flies in the depths of
• 30:00
  winter. Ultimately, I am glad that this
• 30:04
  family was able to free themselves from the ensnaring
• 30:07
  trap of the devil in his minions.
• 30:11
  Not everyone is so lucky, and in due time we'll cover cases that
• 30:16
  reflect that. So my advice?

  If you enter a home, let alone live there and feel as if eyes
• 30:24
  are boring a hole into the back of your head and you feel scared
• 30:29

  controversial cases of the 20th century and possibly ever.

  Today we will be examining the life and death of a young woman
• 31:21
  named Annalise and the six demons and supposedly took her.

  This is the untold story of the Exorcism of Annalise Michelle,
• 31:32
  and what a terrible and truly horrifying story it is.

  Before I begin this dark and extensive story, there's a few
• 31:59
  things that I would like to say. Whether this is a true case of
• 32:02
  demonic possession or the results of malpractice due to
• 32:07
  religious extremism is not up for me to decide.

  I will simply present the case as chronologically accurate and
• 32:15
  full of details I can, and ultimately the conclusion is up
• 32:20
  to you. So let us first start at the

  beginning. Joseph Michelle, who had served
• 32:26
  in the military during the war, was thankful to have returned to
• 32:30
  his family's small village following his imprisonment by
• 32:34
  the Americans and sequential release in late 1945.
• 32:40
  Having seen the horrors and ravages of combat, he thanked
• 32:44
  God that his small village of approximately 3000 souls hadn't
• 32:49
  been attacked during foreign army occupation or the
• 32:53
  devastating air raids that leveled most major cities in
• 32:57
  Germany. He would be reunited with his
• 32:59
  family and would assume a job within his family's business and
• 33:04
  during this time he would meet a woman named Anna, a local girl
• 33:09
  and within two years the couple would be married.
• 33:12
  Born as Anna Elizabeth Michelle on September 21st of 1952 and
• 33:18
  Leipfing, Bavaria, West Germany, Anna was a very shy and somewhat
• 33:24
  sickly child as she grew up. Michelle was raised along with
• 33:28
  her three sisters as very religious and as a family.
• 33:32
  They would all attend mass twice a week and although frequently
• 33:35
  sick, she was known for being very sweet but also very shy,
• 33:41
  usually keeping to herself and her studies while at school.
• 33:45
  All was going well for Anna, who had become known by the name of
• 33:49
  Annalise, a combination of her first and middle names.
• 33:54
  This was until she turned 16 years old.
• 33:57
  Shortly after her birthday. Annalise had a moment where she
• 34:01
  fainted in front of her younger sister and upon her sister
• 34:05
  calling her name and poking her in the arm.
• 34:08
  When she came to, she believed that she was just exhausted from
• 34:12
  studying too much and decided to lay down for the night.
• 34:17
  But that night, little did she know that her torment would
• 34:21
  begin as she slept in her bed. Shortly after the clock had
• 34:26
  struck midnight, Annalise would awaken in a panic as a giant
• 34:32
  force, as she would later describe it, was holding her
• 34:36
  down. She felt the area around her and
• 34:39
  dent as if a very large person or creature was sitting on top
• 34:45
  of her. This entity then began to press
• 34:48
  on her stomach, which caused her to urinate.
• 34:52
  Panicking and unable to breathe, the poor woman called out to God
• 34:56
  in a desperate attempt to stave off whatever this thing was.
• 35:00
  Convinced that she was dying, she pleaded to be freed.
• 35:05
  However, upon the nearby church clock tower sounding the quarter
• 35:09
  hour, it was all over. All pressure had ceased as if it
• 35:15
  was blown away by a wind. Whimpering in terror now,
• 35:19
  Michelle changed her linens and would barely sleep that night.
• 35:23
  She would inform her mother the following morning that she felt
• 35:27
  very ill and was exhausted, and who can blame her?
• 35:31
  So her mother allowed her to stay home from school.
• 35:34
  Nearly one year later, during the day of August 24th of 1969,
• 35:40
  whatever it was decided to strike again.
• 35:43
  Just as what had happened before.
• 35:45
  She had blacked out earlier in the day.
• 35:48
  And later that night, right after midnight, yet again, she
• 35:53
  felt the familiar but terrifying large force begin to hold her
• 35:58
  captive yet again. She was unable to breathe and
• 36:01
  unable to call for help again. She would be freed by the
• 36:06
  tolling of the church clock bell tower.
• 36:10
  Upon informing her mother of this second incident, her mother
• 36:13
  was unsure of what was happening to her poor daughter, so she
• 36:17
  decided to take her into the family physician, a man named
• 36:21
  Doctor Vogt. At the recommendation of Doctor
• 36:23
  Vogt, they would board a train to Aufschenberg to meet with a
• 36:28
  neurologist by the name of Doctor Siegfried Luthi.
• 36:31
  Dr. Luthi that day would run a variety of tests, all which
• 36:35
  would come back negative and unsure of the results.
• 36:39
  He asked them to return on August 27th for a follow up
• 36:42
  appointment and more tests. One of the tests ran upon their
• 36:46
  return in August was an EEG which recorded normal alpha type
• 36:51
  brain activity. Coming up yet again empty
• 36:54
  handed. The doctor still had to account
• 36:57
  for the convulsive episode that his patient said she was
• 37:00
  experiencing, so he diagnosed her with temporal lobe epilepsy
• 37:05
  and from here should be placed on a drug known as Zentra pill,
• 37:11
  an anticonvulsion. And this worked for a time, but
• 37:16
  as 1969 would progress, she would become very sick.
• 37:21
  In December she would contract pneumonia, which would be
• 37:24
  further complicated by a tuberculosis infection.
• 37:29
  She became too I'll to further attend her studies and was
• 37:32
  forced to drop out of school at that time.
• 37:35
  She would remain back at home in her bed until January of 1970,
• 37:40
  at which point her condition still hadn't improved.
• 37:44
  So as a result of this, she was transferred to the hospital in
• 37:48
  February. From here, she was placed in a
• 37:51
  sanatorium in Middleburg, one that specialized in bronchial
• 37:56
  and lung disease. She made some improvement there,
• 37:59
  but would also have other issues diagnosed.

  When spring came, she longed to go home to see the beautiful
• 38:07
  lush hills of her village instead of the jagged and
• 38:11
  ominously Gray mountains that surrounded her.
• 38:15
  Unfortunately for her sake, she was not yet permitted to leave
• 38:20
  due to her conditions still needing to improve as well as
• 38:23
  new diagnosis of cardiovascular circulatory problems.
• 38:29
  Although sad, Michelle understood what was happening.
• 38:32
  However, this all too persistent and familiar force that had come
• 38:36
  to plague her would visit her yet again on June the 3rd of
• 38:41
  1970. The same massive, paralyzing
• 38:45
  entity would grip her with ice cold and unseen hands.
• 38:52
  This time however, Annalise tried everything she could to
• 38:55
  free herself, and in her desperate attempts, a lone
• 38:59
  scream would finally manage to tear loose from her lips.

  And this scream was heard by the night nurse as well as the young
• 39:08
  doctor that was on duty that night, both of which rushed to
• 39:12
  her aid. As the two entered the room, the
• 39:15
  spectre released its grip on Michelle.
• 39:17
  By this point, all of the commotion had woken up the other
• 39:20
  girls in the wing of the sanatorium that she was in.
• 39:24
  Michelle would be assisted with changing her pajamas and bedding
• 39:28
  and tried to sleep under nurse supervision that night.
• 39:31
  The following morning, the girl's gossip had reached a
• 39:34
  fever pitch. They began to speculate if
• 39:37
  Annalise had previously had a head injury or if she had water
• 39:41
  on the brain. Annalise herself, however,
• 39:44
  didn't pay much attention to them.
• 39:47
  She was becoming withdrawn and was still weak from the previous
• 39:50
  night's episode. She was more concerned with what
• 39:53
  was going on with her health as the day progressed and dust
• 39:58
  settled on the horizon. While the other girls were
• 40:01
  headed to the cafeteria, Annalise opted to stay in her
• 40:04
  room, stare out her window and say her evening rosary as she
• 40:10
  prayed. The voices of the returning
• 40:12
  girls seemed louder than usual. However, what once appeared as
• 40:17
  massive and foreboding mountains appeared more beautiful this
• 40:22
  time. Their peaks glistened with pink
• 40:25
  and Violet as the sun hit them. One of the girls would approach
• 40:29
  her as she was admiring and praying, and would ask if she
• 40:33
  was all right. She then would comment on her
• 40:36
  blue eyes being black. Annalise, unsure of what to make
• 40:40
  of this, shook off the girl's remarks.
• 40:43
  She would go on to finish her rosary.
• 40:46
  The following day. She would be sent to another
• 40:48
  specialist who would attempt to figure out just what was going
• 40:51
  on inside of her head. After a day's worth of tests,
• 40:55
  including EE GS, yet again they would find no evidence of
• 40:59
  anything being wrong. However, with her now documented
• 41:03
  history of epileptic seizures, the doctor, Doctor Keller would
• 41:08
  recommend a new anticonvulsive drug be prescribed to her.
• 41:12
  Upon returning to the sanatorium, Annalise would begin
• 41:15
  to experience a new and terrifying manifestation in her
• 41:20
  normal waking life. She would begin to see horrible
• 41:24
  demonic looking creatures that were seemingly stalking her from
• 41:28
  the shadows. They would appear in the
• 41:30
  mountains, in her corridors, and even in her room.
• 41:36
  Upon seeing their gnarled faces, she would often fall to her
• 41:40
  knees and beg the Virgin Mary for Grace to make these terrible
• 41:45
  visions go away. After six more weeks at the
• 41:48
  sanatorium, she would be examined once again by a
• 41:51
  physician and again have more tests ran.
• 41:55
  And yet again she would be found to have no abnormalities in her
• 41:59
  brain scans. With this conclusion, she would
• 42:02
  finally be allowed to return home to her family.
• 42:06
  Her return home was happy at first, being back in her own bed
• 42:10
  surrounded by familiar faces, but yet Michelle found herself
• 42:14
  soon worrying about going back to school and readjusting, and
• 42:18
  of course, about her persistent health problems.
• 42:21
  However, she would end up returning to school to finish.
• 42:25
  This time, of course, she would be visited by multiple doctors
• 42:29
  all throughout the year to monitor her health.
• 42:31
  She would have several more seizures, although seemingly not
• 42:35
  as severe as the ones previously experienced, and although those
• 42:39
  had seemed to be pretty minor, she was still experiencing
• 42:42
  horrific disfigured visions. She began to share this with her
• 42:46
  mother and after time and time again of the doctors not finding
• 42:51
  anything abnormal about her, Anna began to think that
• 42:55
  something supernatural was taking place.
• 42:58
  One evening the two parents discussed this matter in
• 43:01
  particular and to try to convince her husband that what
• 43:06
  was plaguing their daughter was of the devil, she told him that
• 43:09
  Annalise had been seeing horrible and twisted faces all
• 43:13
  throughout the day and night, sometimes in the mirror or
• 43:17
  looking out a window, or even through the faces of other
• 43:21
  people. One vision in particular that
• 43:24
  Annalise had relayed to her mother disturbed her so much
• 43:29
  that she had to share it with her husband, Joseph.
• 43:32
  Annalise had told her that upon seeing the statue of the Virgin
• 43:36
  Mary in their living room on their mantle that her eyes
• 43:40
  turned black, a hideous grin appeared on her face and her
• 43:44
  small delicate hands began to twitch and then morph into
• 43:50
  thick, grotesque claws. Seeing the sincerity in his
• 43:54
  wife's eyes, Joseph, although silent for a few minutes,
• 43:58
  decided that the family should ask for guidance through prayer.
• 44:02
  Was school finally finished for Annalise before university?
• 44:07
  A summer trip was in order. After consulting with the
• 44:09
  doctors about his daughter's condition and discovering her
• 44:13
  depressive thoughts that she had shared with them, Joseph decided
• 44:17
  to take his daughter to the Shrine of San Damiano in Italy
• 44:22
  in hopes of not only aiding her spiritually, but hopefully
• 44:25
  mentally as well. The shrine had been created by a
• 44:28
  woman named Rosa Quatrini who overtime experienced multiple
• 44:32
  miracles and received messages from the Virgin Mary, including
• 44:37
  to have the shrine built, later becoming known as Mama Rosa.
• 44:41
  She would work alongside Padre Pio for many years.
• 44:44
  So in due time, with the assistance of a teacher, they
• 44:48
  organized a trip to the shrine and we're on a bus headed
• 44:51
  through the Italian countryside. Upon their arrival and exiting
• 44:56
  of the bus, amidst the beautiful vineyards that surrounded the
• 45:00
  location of the garden in which the shrine was located, in a
• 45:04
  dark presence would envelope Annalise.
• 45:07
  Surrounding the shrine was an open space which crowd for
• 45:11
  pilgrims to kneel and pray. A small crowd was present as
• 45:15
  Annalise approached the shrine at the insistence of her father.
• 45:20
  However, she seemed like she couldn't approach the Holy
• 45:23
  Mother. She began to walk around the
• 45:25
  shrine in a wide arc and to her, her feet began to burn as if she
• 45:31
  was walking on hot coals and each person she glanced at,
• 45:35
  although in the praying position, were gnashing their
• 45:38
  teeth and their faces were distorted and awful.
• 45:44
  This is where she began to really first display her
• 45:47
  adversion to holy objects such as medals of Saints, statues,
• 45:52
  and Insignia that represented Jesus Christ.
• 45:56
  Those present couldn't help but notice how strange the young
• 45:59
  woman was behaving, and upon heading back onto the bus, she
• 46:02
  was then being asked by the teacher, a woman named Frau
• 46:06
  Hein, about what was going on with her.
• 46:09
  She expressed that her will was not her own and that someone
• 46:12
  else was manipulating her. Almost as soon as those words
• 46:17
  left Michelle's mouth, her personality would completely
• 46:21
  change, and a voice that sounded like a man's Annalise began to
• 46:25
  belittle Frauhine, Making fun of her for being unsure of herself.
• 46:30
  She then snatched a blessed metal off of her neck.
• 46:33
  Simultaneously, Frau, Joseph and others present on the trip began
• 46:39
  to smell a stench exuding from Annalise unlike anything they
• 46:44
  had ever experienced before. The smell was that of fecal
• 46:48
  matter and something burning and it permeated the entire buzz.
• 46:54
  She would eventually calm down and the occupants would return
• 46:58
  back to their native Germany after their visit to San
• 47:02
  Damiano. Annalise seemed to feel quite
• 47:04
  well despite what had taken place, but this would only last
• 47:08
  for about two weeks. She was set to attend college
• 47:11
  for the first time in several weeks time, but felt that she
• 47:15
  was in no condition to do so and she complained to her mother
• 47:18
  that she was horribly depressed and constantly plagued by these
• 47:22
  horrible faces, believing it to be a result of her daughter's
• 47:26
  seizures and it would make an appointment with Doctor Luthi.
• 47:29
  Several days later, Annalise would troop to that very
• 47:32
  appointment. It would be determined that she
• 47:34
  had been seizure free in between their appointments together and
• 47:38
  another EEG would determine that her brain was indeed normal.
• 47:43
  However, Doctor Luthi, who was non religious, would essentially
• 47:47
  belittle Annalise for telling him that she was seeing these
• 47:51
  horrible visions on a daily basis.
• 47:53
  Now he believed personally that she was an overly superstitious
• 47:58
  Catholic girl and with this he would clear Annalise to go to
• 48:02
  university. This would be the last time that
• 48:04
  she would see Doctor Luthi and the last time she would mention
• 48:08
  the demons to any medical professional, becoming more
• 48:12
  depressed and withdrawn. Her mother would finally
• 48:15
  confront Annalise, telling her that her whole life she's wanted
• 48:19
  to be a teacher and now that the opportunity is here, she's not
• 48:23
  taking it. Annalise would explain that she
• 48:26
  was depressed, empty and tired, that the drugs were not helping
• 48:31
  her and that the demons and their manifestations or only
• 48:35
  getting worse still considering her daughter's issues to
• 48:39
  possibly be spiritual in nature, and it would arrange for her to
• 48:42
  begin meeting with priests in an effort to aid her.
• 48:46
  The two priests that would begin to receive letters from both
• 48:49
  Anna and Annalise were Father Herman and Father Alt.
• 48:54
  After reading the letters, their interests not only piqued by the
• 48:57
  descriptions of what poor Annalise was experiencing, but
• 49:01
  Father Alt began to feel very ill, seemingly out of nowhere.
• 49:05
  After this happened, he would retire back to his dormitory
• 49:08
  room for the night and would try to sleep it off.
• 49:11
  Shortly after the clock struck midnight, father all would
• 49:14
  awake, soaked and in a cold sweat.
• 49:17
  A storm reached outside. Lightning illuminated the room
• 49:21
  around him as he laid in his bed.
• 49:23
  Feeling awful he began to pray, but as he prayed he would feel
• 49:28
  someone or something press on his bed as if they had walked
• 49:33
  onto it. This deeply frightened the
• 49:35
  Father as he jumped off his bed began to pray out loud.
• 49:40
  As the words left his mouth, a horrendous burning smell began
• 49:44
  to fill his room. Alt then rushed out of his door
• 49:48
  and into the hallway. His vision began to narrow and
• 49:52
  his color perception was changing as he rushed down the
• 49:56
  stairs and headed toward the exit door of the building.

  Within the shadows cascading on the walls and the stained glass
• 50:04
  that surrounded him, horrible distorted faces began to reveal
• 50:09
  themselves. Father Alt now knew that what he
• 50:13
  was dealing with was indeed very real.
• 50:16
  Evil forces. He would run outside and into
• 50:20
  the rain, falling to his knees and gripping his rosary as he
• 50:25
  attempted to catch his breath. He would eventually return back
• 50:29
  to his room once he felt that the force had passed.
• 50:32
  However, the scent of burning fecal matter still filled the
• 50:36
  entire parish. Even the following day it was
• 50:40
  still there would be experienced by all of the priests and staff.
• 50:46
  This event would further the interest in Annalise's case and
• 50:50
  further motivate the priest to act quickly, fearing that the
• 50:54
  young woman was indeed being affected by the demonic father.
• 50:58
  All would begin to meet with Annalise when he could, and it
• 51:01
  would accommodate her school schedule.
• 51:04
  At this particular point, she seemed to be doing fairly good,
• 51:08
  despite still seeing the manifestations most days.
• 51:11
  She would begin classes on November 1st of 1973, going to
• 51:16
  lectures day in and day out and seeking various churches and
• 51:20
  chapels to relax and pray in as she remained A diligent student
• 51:25
  and her life, despite these awful visions that bothered her,
• 51:28
  still, was about to change. At the end of November, Annalise
• 51:32
  would meet a fellow student by the name of Peter.
• 51:35
  He was somewhat like herself, was very shy and friendly, but
• 51:40
  was outgoing when you got to know him.
• 51:42
  The 2 shared many classes together and would soon fall in
• 51:45
  love. Several weeks into their
• 51:47
  relationship, however, Annalise would tell Peter to stop seeing
• 51:51
  her, fearing that when the demons came back, he wouldn't
• 51:54
  want her anyways. But despite what his new
• 51:57
  girlfriend was telling him, Peter denied this and still
• 52:00
  refused to leave her side. Soon after this, Annalise would
• 52:04
  go in for a checkup evaluation or she would have an EEG yet
• 52:07
  again, except this time the doctor administering the Eega
• 52:12
  woman named Doctor Schleipe would find patterns of epilepsy.
• 52:16
  This is significant because this is the first time out of all of
• 52:20
  the other times that any patterns of epilepsy had ever
• 52:23
  been found. As a result of this, Doctor
• 52:26
  Schleip would change Annalise medication to yet another
• 52:30
  anticonvulsant drug known as the Lanten in hopes that it would
• 52:34
  improve her condition. Following this appointment,
• 52:37
  Peter and Annalise would continue their relationship, in
• 52:40
  which Annalise would confide in Peter more so about what she was
• 52:43
  experiencing with the demonic figures and faces that still
• 52:48
  plagued her. Peter had also become aware of
• 52:50
  the awful stench that seemed to follow her, especially when she
• 52:54
  was experiencing the supposed hallucinations and as their
• 52:58
  relationship progressed, he wanted her to join him in
• 53:01
  meeting his family and friends, but Annalise refused, worrying
• 53:05
  that they may not be as understanding as Peter.
• 53:08
  Michelle would ultimately express that, but she did have
• 53:11
  moments of clarity where she did feel like herself.
• 53:14
  But every so often, those devils would reappear despite taking
• 53:18
  her medication daily rigorously. The faces would remain and soon,
• 53:24
  coupled with the faces, she would begin to experience
• 53:27
  debilitating headaches. Father Alt, checking in on her
• 53:31
  with the local Bishop there on campus, would discuss that her
• 53:35
  complaints and ailments continue to be the same despite her
• 53:38
  taking her medication every single day.
• 53:41
  He would arrange to have Annalise meet him in a nearby
• 53:44
  town for the two to pray together.
• 53:46
  Peter would ultimately take Annalise to this appointment and
• 53:49
  would be surprised at how quickly she seemed relieved
• 53:52
  after with the two began praying.
• 53:54
  Although very skeptical, Peter began to believe that possibly
• 53:59
  this could be a spiritual problem.

  I did want to take a moment here and say that there's so much
• 54:04
  information about what happened to Annalise and her life, and
• 54:08
  I've been pretty thorough up to this point, but I'm going to do
• 54:11
  a few briefer sections leading up to the paranormal
• 54:14
  manifestations that worsened her life, just because if I sat here
• 54:20
  on every painstaking detail, we'd be here all day.
• 54:24
  Following the meeting with Father Alt, Annalise's
• 54:27
  depression would return. She told Peter that the clanking
• 54:31
  of knives and forks sickened her that the demons wouldn't let her
• 54:36
  eat. Coupled with her losing weight
• 54:38
  and becoming ever more reclusive, other witnesses to
• 54:42
  the strange behavior she exhibited began to grow as well.
• 54:46
  One incident in particular, a mutual friend of both Annalise
• 54:50
  and Peter named Anna Leipert, witnessed something that she
• 54:53
  would never forget. In July of 1975, with Anna,
• 54:58
  Annalise, and Peter sitting in Annalise's dorm room having a
• 55:03
  casual conversation. Suddenly, out of nowhere,
• 55:07
  Annalise's face contracted and contorted into something demonic
• 55:13
  in appearance. Her entire body then went stiff
• 55:16
  as a board, as if she was entering A catatonic state.

  Obviously freaked out by this, Anna asked Peter what was
• 55:24
  happening and Peter simply replied.

  It's the demons, she's under possession.

  Not knowing what else to do, the two prayed with Michelle and it
• 55:33
  would take an hour and a half for this episode to be over.

  Following this happening, it became clear that Annalise could

  no longer be by herself and attend school.

  The two would reach out to her parents and several days later
• 55:47
  they would move the young woman back to Klingenburg.

  Upon arriving, Annalise was able to start eating again, but her

  other problems continued unabated.

  If anything, they worsened greatly in a very short period

  of time. During a phone call between

  Father Alt and Michelle's mother, the two would be

  interrupted frequently by the horrendous screams of Annalise

  in her room, screaming obscenities and overall acting

  abhorrent. Father Alt would ask a fellow
• 56:21
  priest closer to Annalise to assist him in aiding her
• 56:24
  spiritual battle, a man named Father Roth.
• 56:28
  Upon reaching out to the family to arrange his meeting with
• 56:31
  them, Father Roth was surprised when Annalise's mother answered
• 56:35
  the phone and said Father Roth. The two had never met before,
• 56:40
  nor had she been previously informed that Father Roth was
• 56:44
  going to call. Bewildered, he said yes, that's
• 56:48
  me. He was then informed that
• 56:50
  Annalise had told her that he was going to phone, that right
• 56:54
  there to the priest was an indication of the demonic
• 56:58
  knowledge of the unknown. He would arrive a week later and
• 57:02
  upon entering the house, he could hear the girl scream from
• 57:06
  her room above. A horrible stench like something
• 57:10
  burning like dung and sulfur filled the room that he and
• 57:14
  Misses Michelle chatted in the main living room of the house,
• 57:18
  trying to find the source of the scent.
• 57:20
  He checked all the other rooms. He checked outside in the
• 57:24
  kitchen everything that he could think of and yet he could find
• 57:28
  no explainable origin for this horrible smell.
• 57:32
  Misses Michelle would inform him that Annalise had been in the
• 57:35
  living room roughly 20 minutes before his arrival, stepping
• 57:39

  house at exactly 5:00 PM, not a minute earlier or a minute

  after, but exactly on time. Wanting to prove his competence

  to his fellow Co workers, Bill went ahead and accepted the job.

  He kept an eye on his watch as he drove through the suburban
• 1:41:20
  streets of Arlington to make sure that he would arrive right

  on schedule. When he reached his destination,

  outside of an ordinary looking home, the first noises he heard

  upon approaching the door were the screams of a woman coming
• 1:41:34
  from inside. Raising an eyebrow and feeling

  that something wasn't quite right and hoping that they would

  just cancel the appointment altogether, he went ahead and

  walked to the front door at exactly 5:00 PM.

  Upon knocking, at first there didn't appear to be any sort of

  an interruption, then the woman's yelling.

  However, through the muffled screams, he was able to
• 1:41:55
  unmistakenly make out and the name of Christ.

  I command you to leave these men, which he thought was
• 1:42:02
  peculiar to say the least. Then the door opened.

  A strange woman stood in the small crack that had now been
• 1:42:09
  created with just a blank expression on her face.
• 1:42:13
  Without saying a word she pointed a long Bony finger at
• 1:42:16
  him and then slammed the door. A feeling of strangeness and
• 1:42:21
  dread overtook Bill and he went ahead and ran to his company
• 1:42:24
  vehicle as fast as his legs could carry him.

  He then would call his employer and tell him that he would never
• 1:42:30
  take a call from this client again.

  As he went about his day, he couldn't help shake the events
• 1:42:36
  from earlier in the day from his mind.

  Against his own rational judgement, he felt as though the
• 1:42:41
  woman had been trying to warn him in some strange way.

  After his shift ended that evening, he went home and got
• 1:42:48
  settled in for the night. Bill was sound asleep when he
• 1:42:52
  felt himself jolted awake by what he thought was an
• 1:42:55
  earthquake. His bed shook violently, almost
• 1:42:59
  to the point of knocking him off of it.

  Then, as suddenly as it had began, the shaking stopped.

  Still in a daze but now wide awake, Bill set about attempting
• 1:43:11
  to see just what had happened. Nothing else in his house

  appeared to have been shaken by the quake.

  The clocks in his home read around 3:00 AM and he wasn't

  terribly convinced that it was in fact an earthquake, that it
• 1:43:25
  caused the disturbance. He attempted to recreate the
• 1:43:29
  shaking of his bed himself, but was unable to.

  Deciding that he must have just been dreaming, he went ahead and
• 1:43:36
  just laid back down and decided that he would check the
• 1:43:38
  following day if an earthquake had indeed happened.

  However, upon checking the following day, no such quake had
• 1:43:46
  occurred. After this incident, doves and
• 1:43:49
  other birds would begin gathering in the trees outside
• 1:43:52
  of his home. So much so that the realtor who
• 1:43:55
  had sold him the house was baffled.

  He soon started to notice the pervasive, almost smothering
• 1:44:01
  smell of bacon in his home. Which is kind of odd if you
• 1:44:05
  think about it. Just something cooking and bacon

  has a very particular scent. It was if someone was constantly

  cooking an entire package on his stove.

  Walking through mysterious cold spots at his house became a
• 1:44:16
  regular occurrence as well. Although Bill would try his best
• 1:44:20
  to find a rational explanation, such as something being caused
• 1:44:24
  by his air conditioner or poor insulation or a draft, nothing
• 1:44:30
  he could come up with made rational sense to explain what
• 1:44:34
  he was experiencing. At night, he would experience
• 1:44:37
  things that would only get darker and more sinister as time
• 1:44:42
  went on. He would awaken the early
• 1:44:44
  morning hours to the sensation of small creatures like cats or
• 1:44:49
  dogs running across his feet, but his dogs slept in their
• 1:44:53
  kennels at night. When they were out.
• 1:44:56
  However, they would also growl and even bark at seemingly
• 1:44:59
  nothing at random areas in the house.
• 1:45:03
  The activity, however, began so slight that it could easily be
• 1:45:08
  ignored. And even if it couldn't be
• 1:45:11
  ignored, Bill would try to write it off by finding some sort of a
• 1:45:14
  logical explanation and just dismissing it in his mind.

  However, Bill would soon experience a watershed moment
• 1:45:22
  when he was watching TV one evening in his house.
• 1:45:25
  Suddenly, he watched as a water bottle, which had been sitting
• 1:45:29
  on his kitchen counter, flew across the room and bounced off
• 1:45:34
  the wall next to his head. It was at this point that Bill
• 1:45:38
  and all of his logic and experience finally had to admit
• 1:45:43
  that what he was dealing with had to fall under the realm of
• 1:45:46
  the paranormal, for he had no other explanation, no other
• 1:45:51
  reasoning that would make sense of the months of unseen forces
• 1:45:54
  toying with him. However, at this final
• 1:45:57
  acceptance that it was something supernatural in nature, the
• 1:46:01
  phenomena began to kick into a higher gear.

  The phenomena deepened beyond just sights and affecting Bill's

  surroundings. Electronic technicians

  frequented his house often due to the constant flickering of

  lights, failure of his computer and television, and many of them

  stated that they had never experienced anything like they
• 1:46:23
  did inside Bill's house and their entire careers.

  Alongside the strange fluctuations and the
• 1:46:30
  electricity, Bill's phone also began calling people by itself
• 1:46:35
  throughout all odd hours of the night.

  Usually around 3:00 AM, Bill called his phone company to
• 1:46:41
  attempt to find a solution to the problem, and during his
• 1:46:45
  phone call with the representative, a strange and
• 1:46:48
  aggressive voice could be heard in the static, speaking in a
• 1:46:52
  language that neither of them could understand.
• 1:46:56
  The representative confirmed that he had heard it as well and
• 1:46:59
  was baffled because they used a secure line that a third party
• 1:47:04
  could definitely not access or hijack.
• 1:47:07
  While calling his friend Michael, who happened to be a
• 1:47:10
  sound engineer, the same voice appeared on the phone line.
• 1:47:14
  Bill told Michael to hang up because he believed that there
• 1:47:17
  was something evil about this voice, but Michael had already
• 1:47:20
  began recording the conversation.
• 1:47:23
  However, upon the phone call ending and then upon Michael
• 1:47:26
  reviewing the audio that he had recorded, no such voice could be
• 1:47:31
  found. Bill soon needed more
• 1:47:34
  confirmation that other people were seeing what he was seeing
• 1:47:38
  so that he can rule out if he was crazy or not.
• 1:47:41
  He invited his brother Bob over and asked him to stand in his
• 1:47:45
  bedroom closet with the lights off.
• 1:47:48
  Bob thought it was an odd request, but he went ahead and
• 1:47:50
  agreed and went and stood in his brother's closet with the door
• 1:47:53
  closed. Bob would emerge a little while
• 1:47:56
  later, a bit disgruntled, but when Bill asked him if he had
• 1:48:00
  experienced anything, all he had to say at that time was that I
• 1:48:04
  think the closet needs to be cleaned.

  However, later Bob would reveal that during his time in the
• 1:48:11
  closet, two large boxes had fallen behind him and the cord
• 1:48:15
  for the overhead light had smacked him across the face.
• 1:48:19
  It spooked him enough at the time to where he didn't want to
• 1:48:21
  speak about it. At one point when Bob was at
• 1:48:25
  Bill's house in his den, sitting at the bar while writing down
• 1:48:28
  information for an upcoming appointment of his, he began to
• 1:48:32
  hear something rustling around in the trash can and out of his
• 1:48:36
  line of sight. He ignored it for a time and
• 1:48:39
  soon thought that possibly it could be Bill's dogs that were
• 1:48:42
  getting into the trash. So concerned, he stood up and
• 1:48:46
  went over to inspect it. However, not only was the trash
• 1:48:49
  untouched, but as he passed by to where it was, he noticed that
• 1:48:54
  Bill's dogs were all crated in their kennels.
• 1:48:57
  On another occasion, he briefly used Bill's house as a pit stop
• 1:49:01
  on the way to an appointment, and after using the restroom,
• 1:49:05
  Bob noticed that the sway light from the ceiling was moving back
• 1:49:09
  and forth quite erratically and on its own.
• 1:49:12
  Dismissing it. At the time, he thought that it
• 1:49:15
  was just the AC unit that was making it move.
• 1:49:17
  It was only later, upon asking Bill, that he learned, in fact,
• 1:49:22
  that there was no AC unit or ductwork that went anywhere near
• 1:49:26
  where that light was. On another night, Bob and his
• 1:49:30
  wife were at Bill's house for dinner and Bill watched the
• 1:49:33
  television and saw something move out of the corner of his
• 1:49:36
  eyes. He stood up immediately, wanting
• 1:49:39
  to make sure that he wasn't the only one seeing it.
• 1:49:41
  He quickly had Bob sit down and watch the TV to see if he
• 1:49:45
  noticed anything out of the corner of his eyes.

  Soon, a look of shock came over Bob's face as he saw something
• 1:49:52
  move in his closet. When Bob's wife sat down, she
• 1:49:57
  too gasped after a moment as well.

  All three of them would sketch out what they saw and they all

  drew the same thing, a small 2 to 3 feet tall being that looked

  like an imp. For those unaware, Imps are

  demons from European folklore and myth that are depicted as

  small and mischievous goblin like and they were familiar

  spirits of witches or even the devil's personal attendance.

  After this, Bill told him everything that he had been

  experiencing, and Bob then offered to let his brother stay

  with him until they figured out just what exactly was taking

  place. However, appreciating the offer,

  Bill decided to decline it. His reasoning was that he felt

  that if he left, he would be giving in to whatever was

  tormenting him like it had won over him.

  Following these events, his bedroom became a constant source

  of torment as the bed would sometimes shake violently and

  other times just enough to keep him awake.

  Small hands would depress his mattress and even hit him from

  underneath. He would feel invisible beings

  slide into bed next to him and would often hear loud knocks,

  bangs, and scratches from inside his walls.

  He would receive scratches and bruises without explanation, and

  he then began to see the apparition of a ghost cat as

  well as strange cold mists within his house.

  The home quickly became a place full of a dark and foreboding

  inviting groups of strangers into his home to investigate the

  happenings inside of his house. He had seen many come and go,

  usually only for a night, and none of them were truly able to

  time, there was only one man standing there to greet him and

  his name was Brian Hall, the founder of DYSTA Paranormal team

  that claimed they did not search for ghosts, but they searched

  the rest of the team and any of the equipment.

  Brian quickly noted the oppressive atmosphere in the

  house, and once he made his rounds, he gave the OK for the

  rest of the team to come in and begin the second phase.

  The team was full of various experts in their fields, with a

  critical eye for anything that could possibly cause noise or

  strange phenomena in an ordinary house.

  They searched the house from top to bottom, and once they were

  satisfied that they had identified any possible areas of

  false evidence, they went outside and returned with their

  equipment. They set up a command post in

  the living room with cameras and audio recorders throughout the
• 1:54:46
  house, trying to pick up anything that could be lurking
• 1:54:50
  within its depths. That night, however, was fairly

  uneventful. After the team had departed with

  little to go on, Bill called his mother to tell her how the

  investigation had gone. During the call, Bill heard

  three distinct knocks, as if the House were declaring its own

  malevolent victory. Unlike the previous

  investigator, Dyst would eventually return over several

  months to continually probe the home for its dark and sinister

  secrets. Activity began to reveal itself

  to the members of the team over time.

  Shadow people, Imps, and even the disembodied apparition of a

  ghost like cat were experienced by the crew.

  On one occasion, the team brought in lasers for a

  particular experiment. The tech was designed to cast a

  laser grid and a darkened bedroom.

  This technique is intended to detect even the slightest
• 1:55:49
  movement that might be invisible to the naked eye.

  The first night came and went with nothing noteworthy
• 1:55:56
  happening. The second was much like the
• 1:55:59
  first, but the third when they used the laser grid.

  Bill, Brian, and the team were sitting in the command center

  when they all heard a loud crashing noise coming from
• 1:56:12
  Bill's bedroom. Upon inspecting the bedroom,

  they found the laser device on the floor.

  The device had been thrown by a powerful and unseen force.

  It had been flung so hard that it had struck the bed, bounced
• 1:56:27
  off of it, and then hit a nearby dresser.

  They first checked the cameras only to find that their
• 1:56:33
  batteries have been drained of all of their power.
• 1:56:37
  This was a common occurrence during investigations at the
• 1:56:40
  house, and it was a pervasive obstacle to finding any visual
• 1:56:45
  evidence. And we often hear this in many
• 1:56:48
  paranormal investigations, especially darker ones.

  For some reason, they tend to drain battery life as if they're
• 1:56:55
  feeding off of it. The team noted times to where
• 1:56:59
  they could audibly hear the moment that their cameras were
• 1:57:01
  switched off by something that they couldn't see.
• 1:57:05
  Luckily, they found out that the audio recording devices were
• 1:57:09
  still functioning when the phenomena occurred.

  When they played back the audio, not only did they hear a loud
• 1:57:16
  crashing sound, but they heard something else entirely.

  They heard a disembodied voice say He's coming back.
• 1:57:23
  Time to put it back on just before the laser crashed and hit
• 1:57:28
  the floor. Despite the lack of visual
• 1:57:31
  evidence, Brian was determined to catch the phenomena on video.

  The next time they arrived at the house, they brought even

  more cameras and more laser grids.

  They set up the equipment as before and let the newest
• 1:57:45
  teammate, Sean, lay in bed in the master bedroom.

  And he called out into the darkness.

  If you're there, give us a sign. Within an instant, the laser

  moved with a violent force, causing Sean to cry out in

  surprise. The rest of the team then rushed

  into the bedroom to gather the equipment and to assess the

  evidence. All but one camera had been

  completely drained of power. The device had been pointing

  directly at the laser. The footage it caught not only

  showed the laser being shoved, but a strange miss that formed

  around the laser, turning it into a violent and aggressive

  vortex before the activity occurred and then finally

  dissipating after its conclusion.

  During another investigation, Bill and his brother Bob and his

  wife Cindy would attend and in addition he invited a friend,

  Chuck and his wife Melissa. Chuck Kelly had been long time

  friends with Bill through golfing.

  To call him a skeptic to the paranormal would be an

  understatement. His wife Melissa, however, was a

  woman who not only believed in the paranormal but was sensitive
• 1:58:58
  to it and that allowed her to see beings that were invisible

  to the naked eye. For a long time, she had refused
• 1:59:06
  to go near Bill's home for this reason, but not knowing that,

  Chuck eventually confronted her about this.

  And she said there's something in that house that's intelligent

  and evil, something that knows that I know, and I'm afraid of

  what will happen if I go there. After Bill reached out to Chuck,

  Chuck told his wife that she needed to speak with him because

  he needs her help. When she met with Bill, he
• 1:59:33
  revealed everything that had been happening.

  Despite knowing the danger of the entity in his home.

  Melissa was moved by Bill's plight and agreed to attend the
• 1:59:43
  next investigation with Chuck. The day of, she fell
• 1:59:48
  apprehension. She sensed that the entity was
• 1:59:50
  furious at her coming and wanted to harm her.

  Her mind's eye saw a beast like that of an ape throwing itself
• 1:59:59
  against the walls and windows of the house, daring her to come

  inside. So, with a deep breath, she did.

  Upon entering and being greeted by Bill, she saw several small

  and hideous creatures at his feet.

  They stood on 2 legs and they looked like hunched over little

  men disturbed. But seeing that no one else was

  noticing these beings, she ignored them as best as she
• 2:00:26
  could and continued her journey through the home.

  When she got to Bill's bedroom, she said that the Imps were at
• 2:00:33
  their most comfortable in his room and played across the
• 2:00:36
  furniture and on the floor. Halfway into the room, however,

  she froze. She searched every corner of the
• 2:00:44
  room, wide eyed and with her hair standing on end.

  She sent something horrible and intelligent lurking out of her
• 2:00:52
  sight and out of the corner of the room in the closet.

  She didn't want to know what it was, and honestly, I can't blame

  her. She left the bedroom and refused

  to ever set foot in it ever again.

  When the Dyst team arrived, she sat in the living room to wait

  while the team set up their equipment.

  Then she observed as the small creatures gathered around her in

  a group of six. They were curious, sniffing her

  and testing their boundaries while not letting her get too
• 2:01:26
  close. She believed that they were

  trapped by the dark entity who used them for more mischievous
• 2:01:34
  activities such as tormenting Bill in his bedroom, the noises
• 2:01:40
  and subtle happenings. While pondering this, she heard
• 2:01:44
  a commotion from the bedroom where the team was setting up.

  She saw a large black shape leap from that direction and onto the
• 2:01:51
  chandelier, causing it nearly to swing and collide with the
• 2:01:55
  ceiling. It jumped down into a corner to
• 2:01:58
  hideaway from the investigation team before lunging onto the
• 2:02:02
  chandelier again and bouncing it to the opposite hallway.

  The large figure took up the entire hallway entrance before
• 2:02:10
  it disappeared, and unsure of how to process what she had just
• 2:02:14
  witnessed, she simply collapsed into her chair.

  The DYST team convinced her husband Chuck to sit in the
• 2:02:21
  closet in Bill's room, and he had utter confidence that
• 2:02:25
  nothing would happen. The lights were turned off and
• 2:02:29
  Chuck just sat and waited. After several minutes, he became
• 2:02:35
  impatient and spoke loudly at whatever they told him was
• 2:02:39
  supposed to be there, attempting to provoke whatever it was.
• 2:02:44
  For a few minutes nothing changed, but eventually Chuck
• 2:02:49
  felt the atmosphere change and become heavy and oppressive.
• 2:02:54
  He heard bangs and things clicked together around him.
• 2:02:58
  His every instinct told him to get out of there as fast as he
• 2:03:02
  possibly could. The team saw Chucky merge with
• 2:03:05
  wide eyes and a face as wide as a ghost.

  All he could say was that there was something in that closet,
• 2:03:12
  and neither he nor Melissa stayed long after this happened.

  Brian Hall, after thorough investigation, enlisted the help

  of any experts that he could find to try and help Bill.

  Reiki Masters, Buddhists, Wiccans, Occultists, anyone and

  everyone who would attempt to drive out entities was

  contacted, but sadly none of them worked.

  Bill became used to the look of defeat upon the people's faces
• 2:03:44
  who earnestly tried to help him but accomplished nothing.

  Eventually, Brian reached the end of his ideas and he sent a

  single e-mail to Bill. It was straightforward and to
• 2:03:55
  the point. It said.

  You Sir, need a priest. Throughout the trials that Bill

  was forced to face, he found himself struggling with
• 2:04:06
  borderline PTSD. He was constantly in a state of
• 2:04:10
  hyper vigilance, looking over his shoulder and watching his
• 2:04:14
  peripheral vision for even the slightest sign of something
• 2:04:19
  supernatural. He was dealing with an opponent
• 2:04:22
  he couldn't see, but one which could see him and even attack
• 2:04:27
  him at a moment's notice. The suspense kept him from
• 2:04:31
  sleeping and he met each evening with dread.
• 2:04:35
  He could no longer distinguish his nightmares from reality.

  He would have a habit of laying down and then closing his eyes

  for a few seconds, then opening them again to search for
• 2:04:48
  anything that had gone amiss. The fatigue would take its toll.

  He often took naps in the daytime to offset the sheer

  exhaustion that he was experiencing, but it was all

  getting to him. The months turned to years and

  the activity inflicted a cost upon Bill's health.

  He had two bouts of pneumonia, 2 heart attacks requiring stents,
• 2:05:11
  and the emergence of cluster headaches which Bill had never
• 2:05:15
  experienced prior. He only wanted the constant
• 2:05:18
  torment to stop. Yet he did his turmoil quite
• 2:05:22
  well and became good at pretending that things were
• 2:05:26
  better than they really were, putting up a front of normalcy
• 2:05:30
  despite the reality of his situation.
• 2:05:33
  It also affected those who visited Bill's home to the point
• 2:05:36
  that few stopped by, effectively isolating him.
• 2:05:41
  At night, he would hear loud crashes inches away from his
• 2:05:45
  head. He'd awakened to find scratches
• 2:05:48
  all over his body and always in threes.
• 2:05:53
  He'd get touched while laying in bed, would be hit and shoved,
• 2:05:58
  and even felt the sensation of being electrocuted.
• 2:06:03
  He would look around his room one night just wondering just
• 2:06:06
  what this entity was that was plaguing him.
• 2:06:10
  Suddenly his covers were torn off his body.
• 2:06:14
  He sat up in bed and saw black shape at his foot board looming
• 2:06:20
  over him. It stood about 6 feet tall with
• 2:06:24
  the body of a man, and the man was wearing a large trench coat
• 2:06:29
  and the fedora hat, all as dark as the abyss.
• 2:06:35
  When he noticed it, it moved towards him, or rather, it
• 2:06:39
  floated. He felt an experience that went
• 2:06:42
  beyond mere fear or dread. He described it as the sensation
• 2:06:48
  of pure evil. It traveled the length of the
• 2:06:51
  bed, got within 2 feet of his face, and then vanished.
• 2:06:58
  During the investigations, they had taped a dark mass in the
• 2:07:02
  very location that this entity had just disappeared at.
• 2:07:06
  It darted rapidly across the room, rose above the bedroom
• 2:07:10
  window, and then simply dissipated.
• 2:07:13
  Bill was so disturbed by this new threat that he could not and
• 2:07:17
  did not speak about it to any of his friends or family at the
• 2:07:21
  time. However, Bill was not the only
• 2:07:24
  person that this entity that he referred to as the Hat Man would
• 2:07:30
  reveal itself to. A friend of Bill's name, Devin,
• 2:07:33
  claimed to see the entity, it had revealed itself to him, but
• 2:07:37
  he believed it to be friendly and as a result of this, he
• 2:07:41
  wasn't scared of it. After apologizing for not
• 2:07:45
  warning him and showing Devin other examples of the Hat Man
• 2:07:48
  entity appearing to others on the Internet, he cautioned him
• 2:07:52
  that if he sees it again to not communicate with it.
• 2:07:56
  It is not a friend. And unfortunately, Devin did not
• 2:08:00
  take his advice. The Hat Man will continue to
• 2:08:03
  appear to Devon, and at one point, Devon described it as
• 2:08:07
  appearing in Bill's closet with glowing red eyes uttering and a
• 2:08:12
  deep growling voice that felt like it was scratching the
• 2:08:16
  interior of his skull, and it kept saying Kill Bill.
• 2:08:22
  After this, Devon began to change.
• 2:08:25
  He transitioned from frightened to angry and finally to violent
• 2:08:30
  frenzy. Bill would often come home to
• 2:08:34
  find his house torn apart, and he would later learn that the
• 2:08:38
  hat man had appeared more times to Devon and had motivated him
• 2:08:43
  to do this. It wasn't until Devon threatened
• 2:08:47
  Bill with a large kitchen knife in his hand that he began to see
• 2:08:51
  just how serious the situation had become.
• 2:08:55
  One evening after Devon had a tantrum of throwing and breaking
• 2:08:59
  things within Bill's house, he told Bill that he's here and
• 2:09:05
  he's come to kill you. Bill saying to himself that this
• 2:09:10
  creature can't kill me, was trying to keep calm.
• 2:09:13
  Devin responded with turn out the lights and you'll see.
• 2:09:18
  With a malevolent and evil grin on his face.
• 2:09:22
  Bill was unsure whether he had lost his fear or no longer
• 2:09:26
  cared, simply wanted to shake Devon out of the throes of this
• 2:09:30
  strangeness. Regardless, he shut off the
• 2:09:35
  lights. Although nothing happened and
• 2:09:38
  Bill proved that the hat man had no authority over him, Devon's
• 2:09:42
  personality only grew more aggressive.
• 2:09:46
  Eventually, neither Bill nor the police, who were often seen at
• 2:09:50
  his home, could resolve the issue, and their friendship came
• 2:09:55
  to a sudden and terrible conclusion.
• 2:09:58
  Bill believed that the hat man was the general, the main source
• 2:10:02
  of evil power to which all the other activity orbited around.
• 2:10:07
  He began to learn from his experiences, accepting that he
• 2:10:10
  was in a war with an unseen foe that was using tactics and
• 2:10:15
  strategy as well, that it utilized scare tactics and fear
• 2:10:20
  to wear him down and a war of attrition.
• 2:10:23
  But the more Bill learned, the more that he was becoming an
• 2:10:27
  adversary against their assault. Bill returned from a meeting and
• 2:10:31
  decided to lay down for a nap. He saw indentions like hands and
• 2:10:36
  feet and his mattress, so much that it became impossible to
• 2:10:41
  sleep. Then he heard a massive crash,
• 2:10:45
  as if something had hit the side of his house.
• 2:10:49
  He shot up and went inspecting, looking for damage that
• 2:10:53
  ultimately found nothing. Feeling a pure white rage well
• 2:10:57
  up within him, he screamed. I've had enough, and you don't
• 2:11:02
  scare me anymore. I'm not the same person that you
• 2:11:05
  picked on years ago. Show yourself and fight me.
• 2:11:09
  One of us is going to hell tonight.
• 2:11:13
  He then heard another crash and ran towards it, continuing to
• 2:11:17
  yell at the entity to show itself.
• 2:11:20
  Hell was unleashed inside of his home like a hurricane.
• 2:11:23
  Crashes and booms filled the air.
• 2:11:26
  Suddenly, the missing puzzle piece clicked into place.
• 2:11:31
  He knew that no amount of anger or desperation or earthly
• 2:11:35
  knowledge would save him from this evil, so he called upon
• 2:11:38
  Christ to intercede. He screamed.
• 2:11:41
  You're not invited and under the authority of Christ.

  I demand you leave or be bound by your worst fears until final
• 2:11:50
  judgement. He kept repeating these words as
• 2:11:53
  new crashing sounds emanated around him.

  Eventually, 30 minutes of unrestrained malice ceased and a

  new peace finally filled his home.

  In the days afterwards, he felt a new sensation amidst the
• 2:12:07
  peace, like that of a chained up rabid dog in the distance, just
• 2:12:12
  watching and waiting for a chance to break those chains and
• 2:12:17
  come back into his life. While occasional things would
• 2:12:21
  happen afterwards, Bill no longer felt the evil that
• 2:12:24
  dwelled within his home or his life.
• 2:12:28
  However, the encounter left scars both physically and
• 2:12:32
  mentally. He still struggled with looking
• 2:12:35
  over his shoulder and being comfortable sleeping at night.
• 2:12:40
  His health effects from the ordeal also never truly
• 2:12:43
  improved. Whether it was from the evil
• 2:12:45
  presence or simply the stress of the events, one can't be sure.
• 2:12:51
  In the years since, Bill has studied and become an expert in
• 2:12:55
  demonology. In order to help others fight
• 2:12:58
  against an unseen foe in their own lives, he founded an
• 2:13:03
  association called United Paranormal International.

  human history on their side when they wage war on us.

  Having always wanted to relocate back to Pennsylvania where they

  grew up. An unexpected opportunity for a

  transfer presented itself, and the Cramers seized it.

  Although having just built a house in 1987, the couple now

  found themselves shopping for homes in Brentwood, PA.

  While looking at potential buys, Bob comes across a home that he
• 2:18:22
  never thought he'd be able to live in for sale an old historic
• 2:18:27
  home from his childhood. This wasn't just any home,
• 2:18:31
  however. It was the home that Bob himself
• 2:18:34
  grew up seeing almost every day. He'd always felt a pull to the
• 2:18:39
  home, to what it represented to him, the history, its style and
• 2:18:46
  way of living, as well as it being a symbol of success.

  Bob would make contact with the sellers and arrange a

  walkthrough for him and his family.

  As the crane MERS arrived and began to tour the inside of the

  house, their son, Bobby Junior wandered off by himself as the

  group went into the basement. When they returned, they found

  the poor young man crying and hyperventilating as if he had
• 2:19:16
  seen a ghost, thinking that perhaps due to the boy's young
• 2:19:20
  age and imagination, that he had just scared himself in such a
• 2:19:24
  big house. Bob and Lisa wrote the behavior
• 2:19:28
  off as they concluded the tour. Despite his wife's misgivings
• 2:19:33
  about the size and feel of the house that it gave her the
• 2:19:37
  creeps, Bob dismissed her, seeming almost mesmerized by the
• 2:19:42
  home. He continued to question the
• 2:19:45
  realtor and would ask the question almost no one asks in
• 2:19:49
  these types of situations. Is there anything wrong with the
• 2:19:53
  house? Understanding exactly what he
• 2:19:56
  was hinting at, the realtor said that nothing was wrong with the
• 2:20:00
  house and that Catholic Mass had been conducted several times in
• 2:20:04
  the living room. Realtor would then simply move
• 2:20:07
  on with the conversation. Bob found this response to be
• 2:20:11
  odd, but nonetheless took the reassurance that had been
• 2:20:14
  implied later. According to Bob, the couple
• 2:20:19
  seemed very anxious to move out, almost as if their very lives
• 2:20:23
  depended on it. Thinking initially that they
• 2:20:26
  would want to haggle, he submitted A lowball offer to
• 2:20:29
  them and to his shock and amazement, they accepted it
• 2:20:34
  without any further negotiations.

  Not only excited to live in the childhood home of his dreams,

  but to get it at such a good price almost seemed too good to
• 2:20:44
  be true to Bob, and perhaps it was.

  The year was 1988 and it's a cold December day, but this day

  is filled with warm feelings. The Cranmer family has just

  closed on the purchase of their new home, a designated
• 2:21:05
  historical landmark by Pittsburgh History and
• 2:21:08
  Landmarks, and in due time they would travel from New Jersey.

  Bob, Lisa and their four kids, Jessica who was four years old

  at this time, Bobby Junior who was 3, David who was two, and
• 2:21:26
  Charles who was just two months old, would move into and begin
• 2:21:31
  living in the home on Brownsville Rd.

  All seemed normal at first, but this calm normalcy would not
• 2:21:40
  last. The family began to notice small
• 2:21:44
  but bizarre things happening at their home.
• 2:21:47
  Doors began to open on their own, objects began to move and
• 2:21:52
  go missing, faucets would turn on by themselves, and many of
• 2:21:58
  times, even if the family had been out during the evening when
• 2:22:03
  they would leave the home with the lights being off, they would
• 2:22:07
  return to not only the lights being on, but after a quick
• 2:22:11
  sweep of the house, every door and window being secured would
• 2:22:16
  have no rational explanation for it.

  Every single light, including those in the basement, would be

  on, and this was enough to make the family think, although it
• 2:22:29
  was weird, they weren't really scared at the time.

  Lisa and Bob did come to the conclusion that they had a

  ghost, thinking it could have been due to the age and
• 2:22:40
  potential history of the home they were in, but they simply
• 2:22:43
  considered it to be Casper the Friendly ghost.

  Not a threat and nothing to worry about.

  Or so they thought. Things weren't always incredibly
• 2:22:54
  active though. Soon, things calmed down

  somewhat. In the months that followed, the

  family started to settle into their normal everyday lives.

  The occasional strange happening here and there quickly became

  commonplace, but every so often things would pick back up

  alongside the previously mentioned activity.

  They soon began to hear mysterious banging noises all

  throughout their house and at all hours of the day and night,

  as well as disembodied footsteps echoing all around.

  And although weird, the family ultimately grew to accept these

  happenings again as normal. Over the years, Bob would go

  into politics and would hold political office in the 1990s,

  first as a Councilman and then a county commissioner, gaining

  local notoriety and status in the Western Pennsylvania area.

  But despite his career achievements that his family was

  slowly falling apart year by year, it seemed as though things

  became increasingly dysfunctional for the Kramer
• 2:24:07
  family. Bob and Lisa would fight

  frequently, and all of which would contribute to Lisa and two
• 2:24:14
  of the children experiencing serious mental health issues
• 2:24:19
  that would require hospitalization.

  During the ensuing chaos that was becoming his family, Bob had
• 2:24:26
  the fleeting thought that whatever was in the house
• 2:24:29
  perhaps had contributed to the mental distress of his family,
• 2:24:34
  but whenever this feeling would come up, he would simply dismiss
• 2:24:38
  it. One night in 2003, his oldest

  son, Bob Junior, would attack Bob in his sleep, a vicious and
• 2:24:49
  unprovoked attack as if his son was in the throes of madness.

  At this time, it was Bob, Lisa, and all of the kids except for

  Jessica living at the house along with Bob's elderly aunt.

  Bob Junior would be restrained and arrested following the
• 2:25:10
  aftermath of this night. The next morning, Bob's aunt

  would be found deceased of natural causes in her bed.

  Thankfully for Bob Junior, all charges would be dropped

  associated with the attack. But these series of unfolding

  events seem to break the dam that have been holding back the

  paranormal within the Cranmer home.

  As if the levees had been breached, A tidal wave of

  spiritual energy would now be unleashed the following year in

  2004. Despite her chaotic and scary

  childhood, Jessica, the oldest, moves back home with her husband

  Tom and her son Colin. There was an apartment up on the

  top floor of the house that Bob felt like would be a good fit

  for the young family. He offered to let them live

  there so they could save money, get everything they needed to in

  order, and eventually buy a House of their own, something
• 2:26:16
  that was becoming increasingly more difficult to do.

  He also felt that this was a good healing opportunity for the
• 2:26:23
  family, allowing them all to be united and together once again.

  As his daughter and family moved their things in, Bob would take

  off his coat and go to hang it in the large walk in closet

  underneath the main staircase. But as he opens the closet door,

  he notices that the pull chain for the light is wrapped all the
• 2:26:48
  way around the fixture. Thinking it was just the usual
• 2:26:52
  weirdness and being rather used to the unusual by this point,
• 2:26:57
  Bob dismisses it and unwraps the chain.

  Being raised Catholic and continuing to be a spiritual man
• 2:27:04
  into his adulthood, Bob for the first time decides to do
• 2:27:08
  something about the activity. On a side table near the closet.

  He had a Bible and a rosary. Believing that this would calm
• 2:27:17
  things down, he took the rosary beads and tied them to the chain
• 2:27:21
  of the light. Upon closing the door and
• 2:27:25
  starting to walk away, he hears the clinking of beads.
• 2:27:31
  Rushing back to the door, he opens it only to find the rosary
• 2:27:36
  and the chain wrapped completely around the fixture yet again.

  Dismissing things at first, but now thoroughly alarmed, Bob
• 2:27:46
  grabs his Bible, steps into the closet and begins to pray out
• 2:27:51
  loud. He continues to do so for half
• 2:27:56
  an hour. During his time in the closet,

  he can't help but notice that he feels a heavyweight upon his
• 2:28:03
  body and the sensation of eyes boring a hole into the back of
• 2:28:09
  his skull. After the half hour, he finishes
• 2:28:13
  and leaves the closet, closing the door behind him.

  In the weeks that follow, Jessica and her family begin to
• 2:28:21
  settle into their new home, the apartment on the 3rd floor.

  As Tom goes to check on his stepson, he opens his door to

  find a woman standing over him. Believing it to be his wife, he

  calls out to her. The woman then turns and takes
• 2:28:42
  several steps towards him and then disappears before his eyes.

  Tom wastes no time in protecting the boy.

  He rushes and scoops Colin up and quickly rushes to him and

  Jessica's room. Jessica at the time tried to

  dismiss what Tom had seen. She thought that if she didn't

  acknowledge it as reality, then it couldn't be real.

  Tom rushes down the stairs and consults Bob immediately.

  Bob, not wanting to take any chances with his grandson,

  decides to sleep in the room for the night.

  After going up the stairs into Colin's room and closing the

  door behind him, he turns on a lamp and takes a seat in a

  nearby chair and begins to pray. Just an hour or so of reading
• 2:29:38
  scripture, he decides to try and get some sleep.

  Laying on his grandson's bed, he slowly drifts off, sound asleep.
• 2:29:49
  He is soon woke up by massive bangs coming from inside the
• 2:29:54
  walls near his head. Waking up in a panic at the
• 2:29:58
  sound, his eyes dart back and forth searching for the source.

  He then feels a sharp stinging sensation on the side of his
• 2:30:10
  neck. Jumping up, he runs over to the
• 2:30:13
  mirror in the room and what he sees shocks him.

  From underneath the right side of his ear, down his neck and
• 2:30:23
  onto his torso, there were three long and now bloody scratch
• 2:30:29
  marks as if something had clawed him.
• 2:30:34
  Frightened and unsure of how to deal with this new situation and
• 2:30:38
  the emotions he felt himself experiencing, Bob, for the time
• 2:30:42
  being, decides to not discuss the matter with his family, not
• 2:30:47
  wanting to further concern them. The following day, Bobby Junior,
• 2:30:53
  the oldest son of the family, was in the living room studying
• 2:30:57
  for an exam. As he sat on the couch taking
• 2:31:01
  notes from his textbook, he suddenly began to feel as if he
• 2:31:05
  was being watched. This made him uncomfortable, so
• 2:31:10
  he decided to step outside to get some fresh air.

  He made his way towards the front door and as he got several
• 2:31:18
  feet away from the door, he heard something fly past his
• 2:31:22
  head with a sharp tone and crash into the wall beside him.

  Bewildered and glancing down at his feet, he finds ACD from a

  nearby stack near the entertainment center, shattered
• 2:31:37
  into a dozen fragments. There is no one else in the
• 2:31:42
  room. Unsure of what else to do, he

  quickly heads to the front door and leaves, fearing for the
• 2:31:51
  safety of their family. The Cranmer's now at their wit's
• 2:31:55
  end with the reoccurring supernatural events taking place
• 2:31:59
  in their home, decide to contact a Catholic priest for help.

  A man named Father Mike Sylvania is who they speak with and he
• 2:32:10
  agrees to assist them by coming to bless their house in due
• 2:32:15
  time. He arrives as the priest begins
• 2:32:19
  his blessings. In an effort to sanctify the
• 2:32:23
  home. He travels from level to level
• 2:32:27
  and room to room, starting from the main floor to the basement
• 2:32:32
  and then to the upstairs. But it's when he heads upstairs
• 2:32:38
  that he begins to realize just what this family has been
• 2:32:41
  dealing with. As he walks up each step, he too
• 2:32:46
  begins to feel the Stair of 1000 eyes upon him and the hair on
• 2:32:50
  the back of his neck stands on end.

  He knows then that they're dealing with an infestation,
• 2:32:58
  whether it's human spirits or non human, he can't discern at
• 2:33:04
  the time. He finishes his blessings and
• 2:33:07
  encourages the family to persevere and then he leaves.

  Weeks later, when the rest of the family is out, Jessica finds
• 2:33:18
  herself alone and asleep in the upstairs apartment.

  As she lays in her bed with the large moon hanging overhead,

  it's light piercing the windows, she is suddenly ripped out of a
• 2:33:33
  dream state. Her eyes open but she is unable
• 2:33:39
  to move. It's as if she is paralyzed but

  completely coherent. Along with being frozen, she

  suddenly feels as if someone or something is sitting on her
• 2:33:54
  chest. Then she sees it.

  A large shadowy figure is at the foot of her bed as it starts to
• 2:34:05
  climb on top of her. She tries with every fiber of
• 2:34:09
  her beam to scream, but all that comes out is silence, to her
• 2:34:17
  anyways. Her mother, who had just
• 2:34:20
  returned from running errands, heard her screams from the
• 2:34:23
  moment she entered the house. Running upstairs, she finds her
• 2:34:28
  grown daughter almost inconsolable.

  She's shaking and crying. Whatever it was that is
• 2:34:36
  tormenting her, it disappeared. However, regardless of age, the
• 2:34:44
  love of a mother eventually brings her back to reality.

  The family is now beyond worried.

  Petrified is almost an understatement.

  Their every waking moments are filled with anxiety and dread.

  They had hoped that word wouldn't get out, but

  unbeknownst to them, their situation had caught the

  attention of the Bishop of the Catholic Church of Pittsburgh,

  who in response, assigns an experienced priest by the name

  of Ron Linguine to their case. Upon reaching out to Bob on
• 2:35:21
  behalf of the church, Father Linguin concluded that based on
• 2:35:25
  what Bob had told him and the sound of his voice, the overall
• 2:35:30
  feel of the call, that this case needed to be investigated
• 2:35:34
  further, that this family needed help.
• 2:35:38
  He gave the Kramer family two options.
• 2:35:42
  One, they could stay and fight and have the backing of the
• 2:35:46
  church, or two, they could leave, but it wouldn't be
• 2:35:51
  guaranteed that whatever these entities were wouldn't continue
• 2:35:55
  to haunt them. So as a family, they decide to
• 2:35:59
  stay and fight. As preparations are made by the
• 2:36:03
  church to send help, the family tries to hold on.
• 2:36:09
  One morning shortly after the phone call, as the family
• 2:36:13
  convenes in the dining room for breakfast, Bobby Junior comes
• 2:36:17
  down and sits at the table. As he explains to his mom that
• 2:36:21
  he didn't sleep much that night, that he tossed and turned, he
• 2:36:26
  started to feel a burning sensation on his back.

  Before Lisa's very eyes, she watched as scratches formed on
• 2:36:35
  her son's back like an invisible hand had taken a razor and
• 2:36:41
  sliced him. Each one was approximately 6
• 2:36:45
  inches long. Calling for Bob, he takes one
• 2:36:50
  look at his son's back and immediately begins to panic.
• 2:36:55
  He then starts checking all of the children's bags and all of
• 2:36:59
  the boys have the same 3 markings.
• 2:37:03
  Remembering back to when he was scratched, he asked the children
• 2:37:07
  calmly to go and wash their cuts while he spoke to Lisa.

  He then finally comes clean about his own attack.

  He discovers that it's not just him and the children who have
• 2:37:21
  been physically marked. His wife, who had been nursing
• 2:37:26
  her own wound, comes clean as well.

  Located on her left shoulder was a bite mark, one that was so
• 2:37:35
  deep that it drew blood. It, in fact, had continued to
• 2:37:40
  bleed underneath her shirt. Upon further analysis, the bite
• 2:37:45
  wasn't like that of a human. It was as if whatever the
• 2:37:49
  creature was had fangs of some sort.

  They were puncture wounds. Refusing to wait, Bobby
• 2:37:58
  immediately calls the priest back.
• 2:38:01
  Later that day, after receiving special permission, Father Mike
• 2:38:06
  returns to perform Mass inside the Brownsville home, believing
• 2:38:10
  the scratches to be 1 of several indications that the infestation
• 2:38:14
  within the home was demonic rather than human spirits.

  Following mass, as Bob and Lisa are sitting at the dinner table
• 2:38:25
  eating together, they receive a call from upstairs, Jessica not
• 2:38:31
  wanting to intrude on their time together.
• 2:38:33
  As if Colin can come down. He wanted to see his grandpa and
• 2:38:37
  grandma. Saying that it was no problem,
• 2:38:41
  Jessica sends him headed downstairs.

  From the top floor to the second level is three sets of stairs
• 2:38:49
  and as the young man descends headed towards his grandparents,

  they suddenly hear him shriek. Bob gets to him first and finds

  Colin shaking like a leaf. The poor child is screaming
• 2:39:04
  monster and pointing at an open door.

  It was at this moment that Bob knew that whatever this thing
• 2:39:12
  was wasn't going to stop, that in order to keep part of his
• 2:39:16
  family safe, he would have to move them out of the house.

  The feeling is bittersweet. The family has grown to love the
• 2:39:25
  house, but at the same time, Jessica's relieved to get her
• 2:39:29
  son out of the situation. Bob, Lisa, and their three sons,
• 2:39:35
  however, remain. Several days after Jessica and
• 2:39:40
  her family depart the house, Bob returns home from work.

  Walking through the hallway headed towards the kitchen, he
• 2:39:50
  gets that sense that he's being watched.

  He stops dead in his tracks and slowly turns around to face
• 2:39:58
  whatever could be there. However, he sees no figure.

  Instead, he sees streams of what appears to be blood on the
• 2:40:08
  walls, fresh blood leaking down. As if to mimic how the priest
• 2:40:15
  had blessed the home using holy water, Wanting to make sure he
• 2:40:21
  wasn't crazy, Bob calls out to Bobby Junior to come and see
• 2:40:26
  what he was seeing. The two share a moment of shock
• 2:40:31
  and, umm, ease. The walls were indeed bleeding
• 2:40:36
  and it was unlike anything that they had ever seen before.

  At the wit's end of his Wit's end again calls the Church.
• 2:40:47
  He speaks with Father Linguine, who tells him that he's about
• 2:40:50
  ready to make the recommendation to the Bishop to sanction a
• 2:40:53
  proper exorcism of the house, but that the family had to
• 2:40:58
  endure one more test. He told him that they needed to
• 2:41:02
  have an outside third party non religious group come in and
• 2:41:08
  document their findings and then turn those findings into the
• 2:41:12
  church. So Bob makes several calls and
• 2:41:17
  arranges for such a group to come out.
• 2:41:21
  A paranormal investigation crew that originated out of Penn
• 2:41:25
  State. They would arrive in January of
• 2:41:28
  2005. As the two other members set
• 2:41:32
  things up, the main leader, a man named Adam Bly, finished up
• 2:41:38
  a tour of the home with Bob. Unbeknownst to Bob, his main job
• 2:41:43
  was to perform an informal psych evaluation on the family to
• 2:41:48
  determine that they were of sound mind and not just spinning
• 2:41:52
  fantasies. He would determine that they
• 2:41:56
  were indeed sane. Upon further inquiry, he asked
• 2:42:01
  Bob. When things started to get bad,
• 2:42:03
  if there was a catalyzing moment or area of the home, Bob,
• 2:42:09
  thinking back, immediately thought about the closet.

  Upon explaining what had taken place and how things had
• 2:42:17
  escalated since that day, Adam believed that this demon was
• 2:42:22
  originating from underneath the stairs in or near the closet,
• 2:42:29
  knocking on the wood exterior of the stairs.
• 2:42:32
  It sounded hollow, believing that the origin could
• 2:42:36
  potentially be found there. Bob agreed and assisted him with
• 2:42:40
  opening it up to look inside. It was no easy task, but the
• 2:42:47
  best way was to cut the wall from the inside of the closet.
• 2:42:51
  So they did. Among the cobwebs and dust was
• 2:42:56
  indeed an open space, a hidden room of sorts.
• 2:43:02
  And in the center of this room, covered in even more dust, as if
• 2:43:07
  it had been sealed in what's a strange looking altar.
• 2:43:12
  And to the right side of this altar was an incredibly old
• 2:43:17
  piece of paper. Upon further examination, the
• 2:43:21
  paper contained drawings, the name of the original owner as
• 2:43:26
  well as the name of the word Malik.
• 2:43:31
  Malik would turn out to be the last name of the original owner
• 2:43:34
  of the home. It's also just one letter off
• 2:43:37
  from Moloch, a demon from the Old Testament most commonly
• 2:43:41
  associated with the Canaanites who worshipped this deity and
• 2:43:46
  sacrificed children to it. After making this discovery,
• 2:43:51
  Adam wanted to take a moment, so he wandered off back into the
• 2:43:55
  main living room space to breathe.
• 2:43:58
  He then suddenly, out of nowhere began to see the letters SA THI
• 2:44:06
  appear before him, and then something invisible scratched
• 2:44:12
  his forehead. Adam screams quickly garnered
• 2:44:15
  the attention of the rest of the crew who quickly rushed to his
• 2:44:19
  aid. They try to console him, but
• 2:44:22
  he's more driven to figure out what the word may mean.

  Running to the home base set up for the investigation, he
• 2:44:29
  quickly begins searching the Internet, and what he finds
• 2:44:34
  bewilders him further. Satie is the name of a female
• 2:44:39
  demon that is said to serve under Moloch.
• 2:44:43
  Her primary function was to encourage women to sacrifice
• 2:44:47
  their children to him. Based off of this new
• 2:44:50
  information, Bob begins searching the history of the
• 2:44:53
  home for anything that could be out of sorts, and one such piece
• 2:44:58
  of history soon catches his eye. Where the property now stood was
• 2:45:04
  once the site of a grisly native in settler war, which took place
• 2:45:10
  in the 1790s. One such story was that a woman
• 2:45:15
  and her two children had been killed by the tribesmen near
• 2:45:20
  Fort Pitt and her house was roughly 6 miles from the Fort,
• 2:45:26
  placing it almost directly where their home would be now.
• 2:45:31
  All of his death and sorrow, Bob wasn't surprised that a demon
• 2:45:36
  now called the land its home and further efforts to uncover the
• 2:45:40
  cause. Bob also hired professionals who
• 2:45:43
  scanned the property with ground penetrating radar and an effort
• 2:45:48
  to ensure that no bodies were buried there.
• 2:45:52
  However, as the crew scanned the earth, they would find the
