- 1:08Speaker 2: you Adam Larsen to be saluted for his one thousandth
- 1:12Speaker 2: career NHL game. He achieved that against the Florida Panthers
- 1:17Speaker 2: on the previous road trip March twenty fourth, becoming the
- 1:20Speaker 2: twenty third suite in NHL history and third skater the
- 1:24Speaker 2: twenty eleven NHL Draft class to reach that milestone. Larsen

- 1:59Speaker 2: through Cracking team stores as well.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Well.
- 2:01Speaker 2: The Kracking ending their road trip with a bit of
- 2:04Speaker 2: a thud three nothing in their loss to the Edmonton
- 2:06Speaker 2: Oilers on a night where you figure you keep Connor
- 2:09Speaker 2: McDavid and their power play off the board, you're in
- 2:12Speaker 2: pretty good shape. Unfortunately, the Kraken found nothing as far
- 2:16Speaker 2: as offense and squandering three power play chances. It led
- 2:19Speaker 2: to Edmonton claiming two of three in the regular season
- 2:22Speaker 2: series and leaving the Kraken with just a one to
- 2:24Speaker 2: three and two record ending their six game road trip.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Now with nine games to play, five at home and
- 2:32Speaker 2: four on the road, here's reaction before we get to
- 2:34Speaker 2: al Koniski from Crackingead coach Lane Lambert in Edmonton.
- 2:38Speaker 3: I thought there were some good things. You know, we
- 2:41Speaker 3: know that they you know, they're a bit of a
- 2:45Speaker 3: handful of the so I thought we for the most part,
- 2:49Speaker 3: kept their opportunities to a minimum. I think we had some,
- 2:56Speaker 3: you know, not a lot, but we had some good
- 2:57Speaker 3: enough chances to score low scoring game, and we did
- 3:02Speaker 3: not convert on our opportunities.
- 3:04Speaker 4: You seem to increase the offense and the scoring chances
- 3:07Speaker 4: after the first period. What was a messaging after that
- 3:11Speaker 4: that opening period?
- 3:12Speaker 3: Yeah, well, you know, clearly wasn't the start we wanted
- 3:18Speaker 3: in terms of, you know, they dump the puck end
- 3:22Speaker 3: and we you know, we end up trying to bat
- 3:24Speaker 3: it out goes off there, it's going to eight feet widen,
- 3:27Speaker 3: it goes off their back. You know this kind of
- 3:29Speaker 3: the way it's going right now. Certainly wasn't anything necessarily structural.
- 3:36Speaker 3: A bit of a fortune to break for them, and
- 3:39Speaker 3: then you know we'd make a mistake offensive blue line
- 3:42Speaker 3: when we've got complete control of the puck ends up
- 3:44Speaker 3: in the back of Ournett. So you know you come
- 3:47Speaker 3: in as a year down too. I thought again, I
- 3:51Speaker 3: thought we I didn't think we played terrible in the
- 3:53Speaker 3: first period, but you know, we find ourselves down again. Jason,
- 3:57Speaker 3: a game it's not easy to do. Why do you
- 3:59Speaker 3: think they had trouble scoring?
- 4:01Speaker 4: I know that you said, and Jordan also said that.
- 4:03Speaker 3: You know you like the chances, but is there something
- 4:05Speaker 3: that you point to as to why it was hard
- 4:07Speaker 3: for them to find the back of the net. Well,
- 4:09Speaker 3: you know their goalie made some saves and were missing
- 4:11Speaker 3: having a couple of good opportunities.
- 4:13Speaker 4: You would jar it up to the top line. What
- 4:15Speaker 4: were you looking to get out of him and what
- 4:17Speaker 4: do you think he was able to give you there?
- 4:20Speaker 3: I thought, I thought we had again. I thought Maddie's
- 4:23Speaker 3: line had a slow start to the game. I switched
- 4:25Speaker 3: it up a little bit to try and create a spark.
- 4:29Speaker 3: You know, I thought they created some opportunities, certainly in
- 4:32Speaker 3: the second period, Yeah, you know, and I thought that,
- 4:37Speaker 3: you know, I thought we had a couple of good
- 4:39Speaker 3: opportunities Ebbs had at one point that they missing that on.
- 4:42Speaker 3: So you know, there was some there was a little
- 4:45Speaker 3: bit offense out of that line.
- 4:46Speaker 4: You mentioned the opportunities and some of the misses and
- 4:49Speaker 4: the bad breaks at times, like, how do you how
- 4:51Speaker 4: important is it for the team not to carry this
- 4:54Speaker 4: with them now into the following games, to let this
- 4:57Speaker 4: build with nine games to go, I.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Mean, you can't. You gotta have a short term memory here,
- 5:03Speaker 3: you know, Like I said, I thought we did some
- 5:06Speaker 3: good things in the hockey game, and we have to
- 5:10Speaker 3: build off of that, and we've got to find a
- 5:11Speaker 3: way to put the buck in the back of the
- 5:12Speaker 3: net and get some wins.
- 5:13Speaker 5: All right.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Here we go nine games left in the regular season,
- 5:16Speaker 2: two coming up at home, and as we said on
- 5:19Speaker 2: Cracking Weekly, you have got to make every ounce of
- 5:23Speaker 2: hay as possible in this playoff race. Al Kiniski joining
- 5:27Speaker 2: me right here on Cracking this morning to talk about it.
- 5:30Speaker 2: But Al first, off Adam Larson one thousand NHL games.
- 5:34Speaker 2: To you, what defines his legacy.
- 5:36Speaker 5: Yeah, backbone of the blue line, backbone of the team.
- 5:40Speaker 5: He's a guy that doesn't celebrate things too high and
- 5:43Speaker 5: doesn't get up seven things are too low. To me,
- 5:46Speaker 5: he's he's definitely a big part of the leadership of
- 5:49Speaker 5: this team. Leads in block shots. I'm probably more excited
- 5:54Speaker 5: than any other player on the team when I see
- 5:55Speaker 5: Adam Larson score. I think that he is so excited
- 5:59Speaker 5: when it happens. I like his humor around to putting
- 6:01Speaker 5: him on the shootout. He's just a great human being.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Coming up, this will be the final matchup of the
- 6:06Speaker 2: season against the Utah Mammoth, and we have seen as
- 6:09Speaker 2: far as the kind of damage that Clayton Keller can do,
- 6:12Speaker 2: Nick Schmaltz can do. I mean, their back end got
- 6:15Speaker 2: better with not just Mikhail Sergachev but also with McKenzie Wieger.
- 6:19Speaker 2: But again, I go right back to what played the
- 6:22Speaker 2: krack in here for this last road trip, and it
- 6:24Speaker 2: was falling behind four of six games and then finding
- 6:30Speaker 2: ways to let a team like Buffalo right back into it.
- 6:32Speaker 2: So for me, I would think again, we talked on
- 6:36Speaker 2: Cracking Weekly about the value of getting production out of
- 6:40Speaker 2: your top line guys, and there was some shuffling here,
- 6:44Speaker 2: but I think for me, it's just find a way
- 6:46Speaker 2: to seize control first five minutes, first ten minutes. If
- 6:50Speaker 2: you get out of the first period scoreless, totally okay.
- 6:54Speaker 2: This team's mo has been kind of like an eighteen wheeler,
- 6:57Speaker 2: start out slow, gradual pace and then really get rolling
- 7:01Speaker 2: in the second and third period.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:04Speaker 5: I mean, if you watch the first two periods of
- 7:07Speaker 5: the Edmonton game. The first period, there was a real
- 7:10Speaker 5: hesitation to shoot the puck, there was a real lack
- 7:12Speaker 5: of shots on goal, and then you saw some switch
- 7:16Speaker 5: get flipped between the first and second and all of
- 7:18Speaker 5: a sudden, they're shooting from all over the ice. And
- 7:21Speaker 5: I think they put up thirteen in the second period
- 7:24Speaker 5: as opposed to six in the first, and I think
- 7:27Speaker 5: the krack and have to find a way to have
- 7:29Speaker 5: that second period mentality they had an Edmonton right from
- 7:32Speaker 5: the puck drop. They've got to come out on the attack.
- 7:35Speaker 5: They've got to come out with that intensity, with that
- 7:38Speaker 5: for check, with that physicality, put the other team on
- 7:41Speaker 5: their heels. Yes, you're going to have to play defense,
- 7:43Speaker 5: and yes, they're going to attack when they can as well.
- 7:45Speaker 5: But I think if you jump on them quickly, it
- 7:48Speaker 5: does not give them many opportunities in that first period,
- 7:51Speaker 5: and there's a much higher likelihood that you end that
- 7:53Speaker 5: first twenty either tied or in the lead.
- 7:56Speaker 2: There's often an indicator of the value of a goals
- 8:00Speaker 2: in the NHL by often times we talk about in
- 8:05Speaker 2: his ability to quote drive a line end quote. Bobby
- 8:09Speaker 2: McMahon came in proverbial guns blazing, playing with Matty Beniers
- 8:15Speaker 2: and Jordan Everley, Lane Lambert switching things up, then putting
- 8:19Speaker 2: McMahon with Chandler Stevenson and Coppocaco newest flash. Nickcmahon is
- 8:24Speaker 2: still scoring, he's helping drive play. But what about Coppocco
- 8:28Speaker 2: with now four points last three games. He has a
- 8:31Speaker 2: great since the Olympic break. And I thought Lane Lambert
- 8:34Speaker 2: had a great point on this about a couple of
- 8:36Speaker 2: games ago. I want to say, where in contrast to
- 8:40Speaker 2: other players going into the Olympic break maybe helps them
- 8:44Speaker 2: with some rest. This was a benefit to Copocaco to
- 8:48Speaker 2: continue the rhythm he's had in the Olympics and then
- 8:51Speaker 2: coming right back out and picking up right where he
- 8:54Speaker 2: left off.
- 8:55Speaker 5: Yeah, that second line of Stevenson, Cocko and McMahon, I
- 8:59Speaker 5: think is your your power line. I mentioned before that
- 9:02Speaker 5: Bib McMahon is a prototypical power winger on this team.
- 9:06Speaker 5: Coppo Cocco is as well. I think the difference is
- 9:08Speaker 5: is McMahon might be a little faster on his feet,
- 9:11Speaker 5: but Coppo Cocko plays that same kind of game as well.
- 9:14Speaker 5: He wants to work the boards, he wants to be
- 9:16Speaker 5: in front of the net, he wants to get his
- 9:18Speaker 5: shot off, he wants to drive to the net. And
- 9:20Speaker 5: I think, you know, if I'm Chandler Stevenson and I
- 9:22Speaker 5: got guys like that on either of my wings, I'm
- 9:25Speaker 5: looking to get them the puck all over the ice
- 9:27Speaker 5: so they can do that, and I can follow it
- 9:29Speaker 5: up with maybe putting in the rebounds or resetting. And
- 9:32Speaker 5: that's exactly the way Chandler Stevenson's been playing with these
- 9:35Speaker 5: two guys.
- 9:36Speaker 2: So nine games left here in the regular season, eighteen
- 9:38Speaker 2: points in the table, you're still calling this the same
- 9:41Speaker 2: fourteen points? I then gets the job done.
- 9:44Speaker 5: I think, so fourteen points now, it doesn't have to
- 9:46Speaker 5: have to be you know, seven wins. There could there
- 9:48Speaker 5: could be some some extra points in there for ots,
- 9:51Speaker 5: but I think fourteen points gets you in.
- 9:54Speaker 2: All right for the Seattle crack In. For that goal.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Let's get cracking. By the way, Al, we'll talk about it.
- 9:59Speaker 2: More than I appreciate you, buddy, Thank you.
- 10:00Speaker 1: You got to make you beat awesome.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Thanks Al tot tonight. Appreciate you, Al Koniski joining us
- 10:06Speaker 2: the Krack and will need it appears each and every
- 10:09Speaker 2: one of those points because the climb just got a
- 10:12Speaker 2: bit steeper uphill. Last night, only three games in the NHL,
- 10:17Speaker 2: two bearing significant consequence in the Western Conference playoff race.
- 10:21Speaker 2: The San Jose Sharks beat the Anaheim Ducks for three
- 10:25Speaker 2: after the Sharks scored two goals in the span of
- 10:27Speaker 2: one minute and nine seconds get this, in the final
- 10:31Speaker 2: two minutes of regulation. Then the Los Angeles Kings took
- 10:34Speaker 2: Saint Louis to overtime three point game at play, the
- 10:38Speaker 2: Kings surviving the Blues to one the final in sudden
- 10:42Speaker 2: depth overtime at Crypto dot Com Arena, which now puts
- 10:45Speaker 2: the crack In three points out of the playoff picture
- 10:48Speaker 2: in the Western Conference again, with nine games to play,
- 10:51Speaker 2: they have seventy five points the Kings have seventy eight,
- 10:54Speaker 2: and now the krack And have two leapfrog Winnipeg, who
- 10:57Speaker 2: was one point ahead, Nashville who was two points ahead,
- 10:59Speaker 2: and the Sharks, who are also two points ahead. The
- 11:03Speaker 2: Kraken have faced to Utah twice at Climate Pledge Arena.
- 11:07Speaker 2: They won both those meetings back last season. This is
- 11:10Speaker 2: the first and only visit for the Mammoth into Climate
- 11:13Speaker 2: Pledge Arena all season long, as the crack And look
- 11:16Speaker 2: to salvage a win in the three game head to
- 11:18Speaker 2: head series. Utah comes off a six to two win
- 11:21Speaker 2: in Los Angeles last Saturday. This is game two of
- 11:24Speaker 2: a three game road trip on their side. After that,
- 11:27Speaker 2: the Mammoth home for five of their final six regular
- 11:29Speaker 2: season games. Utah right now with a pretty solid lead
- 11:33Speaker 2: into Wildcard spot number one eighty two points and that
- 11:37Speaker 2: clearing San Jose and Nashville by five. We'll talk more
- 11:41Speaker 2: about this one, including Adam Larson's build up here to
- 11:44Speaker 2: the ceremony to salute one thousand games of his NHL career. Tonight,
- 11:49Speaker 2: We're on air six thirty face offs a little past
- 11:51Speaker 2: seven o'clock Pacific time. Everet now on the call. I'll
- 11:55Speaker 2: join you bank by the course light landing in section twenty. Meanwhile,
- 11:58Speaker 2: join Al and for postgame right across the street at
- 12:02Speaker 2: Tom's Watchbar, up to an hour after the final horn.
- 12:06Speaker 2: We'll look forward to having you once again. Big thanks
- 12:08Speaker 2: to Al Kadiski. We'll talk to you this evening for
- 12:11Speaker 2: Kraken this morning, I'm Mike Benton. Have a happy Thursday.
