- 0:04Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Hello, Baby Blue Nation, Welcome to Just the Cats. My
- 0:14Speaker 2: name is Michael Bennett. On this Friday, July thirty first,
- 0:18Speaker 2: the last day of July, which basically means to me,
- 0:21Speaker 2: some is over. I mean, soon as July is gone,
- 0:23Speaker 2: It's all done. Are you brady for some football boy?
- 0:26Speaker 2: Here we go? Uh five O two three eight four fourteen.
- 0:30Speaker 2: I went expecting that. H fourteen fifty. If you want
- 0:33Speaker 2: to call in five two four one four fourteen fifty,
- 0:36Speaker 2: if you want to text in on the Whiskey Thief
- 0:39Speaker 2: text line, or you can tweet me Just the Cat Radio,
- 0:41Speaker 2: which I need to do a better job. Good morning justin.
- 0:44Speaker 2: By the way, I need to do a better job
- 0:46Speaker 2: because I'm telling people to message me on my Twitter
- 0:50Speaker 2: account and then I completely forget to go look at
- 0:53Speaker 2: the Twitter account. O lord, I know I need to
- 0:55Speaker 2: go back and look at it. So I have. For
- 0:57Speaker 2: those of you that have been messaging me and about
- 1:01Speaker 2: topics we're talking about on the radio, I apologize, Okay,
- 1:04Speaker 2: I I pretty much concentrate on the text line and
- 1:08Speaker 2: I need to do a better job. It's it's that's
- 1:10Speaker 2: that's my fault. But fun. Admitting it is the first
- 1:14Speaker 2: first step to correcting it. Absolutely. Absolutely. By the way,
- 1:19Speaker 2: I got a good laugh yesterday by the one and
- 1:21Speaker 2: only Nick Rousch because he he tweeted something out. I
- 1:25Speaker 2: tweeted a video of an Asian horse race a couple
- 1:31Speaker 2: of days ago and where all the jockeys half the
- 1:36Speaker 2: jockeys fell off. I don't know if you saw that
- 1:38Speaker 2: or not. Hey, you showed it. Did I show it
- 1:40Speaker 2: to you? That's right. I did show it to you yesterday.
- 1:42Speaker 2: And then all of a sudden, I see Nick Rousch
- 1:46Speaker 2: commenting about it, and then he gets another video and
- 1:49Speaker 2: and there's a race where the tractors the horses are
- 1:52Speaker 2: out there on the track running around, and the tractors
- 1:56Speaker 2: are trying to groom the the race track, and then
- 2:01Speaker 2: all of a sudden they have all their jockeys fall off.
- 2:05Speaker 2: And then the quote is from Nick Rausch's my name
- 2:08Speaker 2: is Nick, and I am addicted to Asian horse racing videos.
- 2:12Speaker 2: I said. I literally laughed for five minutes after reading that. Good. Oh,
- 2:18Speaker 2: that was fantastic. That's that's where you know. I do wish.
- 2:23Speaker 2: I two people I've always wanted to work with since
- 2:26Speaker 2: I started at the station, t J. Walker and Nick Rausch,
- 2:30Speaker 2: because every time they come on the show, I have
- 2:32Speaker 2: more fun. And that sounds bad because it sounds like
- 2:36Speaker 2: I don't have much fun with you. And I'm sorry,
- 2:38Speaker 2: that's not what I mean. I get it. No, but
- 2:40Speaker 2: I get it is fun with them. And guys are
- 2:44Speaker 2: radio pros? Are they? Yeah? I'm not. I'm a radio
- 2:47Speaker 2: I mean, it doesn't get much better.
- 2:49Speaker 3: Nos.
- 2:50Speaker 2: No, but it's you were the radio pro too. I'm not.
- 2:54Speaker 2: I'm just I'm here having fun. Okay. There's nothing professional
- 2:57Speaker 2: about Michael Bennett when it comes to the radio. I
- 2:59Speaker 2: think everyone knows that. Okay, fine, I mean you didn't
- 3:02Speaker 2: have to say it that, Oh, Michael, you're a little professional. No,
- 3:04Speaker 2: you didn't have to say something. That's fine. You're you're
- 3:06Speaker 2: professional everywhere else, so it's fine. Am I really? Yeah?
- 3:10Speaker 2: I would imagine, right, I don't know. Am I professional
- 3:12Speaker 2: everywhere else?
- 3:13Speaker 1: No?
- 3:13Speaker 2: I'm a goof everywhere I go. Yeah, But I feel
- 3:15Speaker 2: like you're probably more professional. Like back when you were
- 3:18Speaker 2: doing your medical stuff, I'm sure you were way more
- 3:20Speaker 2: professional than than you treat radio. Same thing with your
- 3:24Speaker 2: horse racing venors. I'm sure you act more professionally in
- 3:26Speaker 2: that regard and sometimes, but most of the time, I
- 3:30Speaker 2: will say this back okay, when I was a professional
- 3:34Speaker 2: salesman uh and had my own business uh on the
- 3:38Speaker 2: orthphedic side, I had more doctors make fun of me
- 3:43Speaker 2: than anybody else because they knew I could have fun
- 3:47Speaker 2: with that. So then that's how I got more business,
- 3:49Speaker 2: because they liked me. I knew if they are teasing me,
- 3:52Speaker 2: Michael Bennett, I knew I had them and uh so no, no,
- 3:57Speaker 2: I just I joke just as much back in that
- 4:00Speaker 2: life then I uh than I do today, just as much.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Life you gotta keep fun exactly and I loved it.
- 4:08Speaker 2: I listen. I am still very close with majority of
- 4:11Speaker 2: the doctors that I worked with, very close, and I
- 4:15Speaker 2: I talk to a number of them every single week.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Even though we're not doing business together. We're still good friends.
- 4:22Speaker 2: My wives are good friends with their wives or absolutely well, no,
- 4:27Speaker 2: let me clarify that. And by the way, that's another
- 4:30Speaker 2: TikTok video. That's awesome. I don't know if you've ever
- 4:32Speaker 2: seen that or not. Okay, well you should be, no,
- 4:35Speaker 2: I should yes, you should be. I I don't care
- 4:37Speaker 2: if the Chinese are watching me. I have nothing to hide,
- 4:40Speaker 2: uh but except my stomach. I don't want them to
- 4:42Speaker 2: see my stomach because all I want to do is
- 4:44Speaker 2: eat their food. Uh No. There's a video going out
- 4:48Speaker 2: now where the husband has his wife next to them
- 4:51Speaker 2: and introduces them as their current wife, just to see
- 4:55Speaker 2: what their response would be. Oh, okay, you don't think
- 4:58Speaker 2: it's funny, Now I get it. Oh, I think it's hilarious. Yeah,
- 5:02Speaker 2: my wife did not think that was funny. I don't
- 5:04Speaker 2: know if funny's the right word. Oh, I'm sure it's entertaining.
- 5:07Speaker 2: It's one sided funny, okay, Because when I showed that
- 5:11Speaker 2: to my wife, she's like, yeah, okay, that's interesting. And
- 5:14Speaker 2: he's like, yeah, don't you dare do that to me?
- 5:17Speaker 2: So anyway, I just think it's funny. But not excited
- 5:21Speaker 2: about the weekend, are we? I mean I'm not excited
- 5:24Speaker 2: about the weekend weather? Yeah? Is it just me?
- 5:28Speaker 3: Or?
- 5:29Speaker 2: And I don't want to complain on a Friday, You
- 5:31Speaker 2: know how I am on Fridays. I'm always untiden and
- 5:33Speaker 2: jacked up. But I am so sick and tired of
- 5:37Speaker 2: this entire summer Monday to Friday being absolutely incredible, greatest
- 5:44Speaker 2: weather you can imagine, right, and then here comes Saturday
- 5:47Speaker 2: and Sunday and it's like, huh, how can we drum
- 5:49Speaker 2: up the worst weather possible? The fact, the fact that
- 5:52Speaker 2: this is the last day of July and I've been
- 5:54Speaker 2: to the lake one time is so unacceptable, really, and
- 5:58Speaker 2: it's all because of the weather. Wow, last year, it sucks.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Last year you were there almost every season. We probably
- 6:04Speaker 2: went to the lake thirty times last Yeah. Wow? Okay, uh,
- 6:10Speaker 2: And I think that's fair to gripe about. I don't
- 6:13Speaker 2: want to gripe about it, but I feel like it
- 6:14Speaker 2: we're at the point where I need was It's supposed
- 6:16Speaker 2: to be like seventy five percent tomorrow and eighty percent
- 6:18Speaker 2: on Sunday, and then it's like seventy five percent all
- 6:21Speaker 2: of next week. Also, you know what else I've noticed?
- 6:23Speaker 2: This is less of a complaint. Tell me, But am
- 6:26Speaker 2: I the only one that feels like the moon has
- 6:29Speaker 2: been full for a bout a week and a half? Well,
- 6:31Speaker 2: I was talking to a guy about it yesterday. I've
- 6:34Speaker 2: never heard of a buck moon and that's what they
- 6:37Speaker 2: call this, or it just lasts for weeks on end. Well,
- 6:41Speaker 2: so I'm only going from memory and I'm sure there's
- 6:44Speaker 2: texters out there that can help me. But I have
- 6:46Speaker 2: literally never heard of a buck moon. Supposedly they call
- 6:51Speaker 2: it a buck moon is because this is when the
- 6:53Speaker 2: deer bucks the boy bucks grow their antlers and the
- 6:59Speaker 2: moon is respond for it. It's the time of year.
- 7:01Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't see how that's the case.
- 7:03Speaker 2: But well, as long as the moon has been full,
- 7:06Speaker 2: that should bode well for hunt. So it's gigantic. Oh yeah, exactly.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Well it's not time to hunt yet though, right now,
- 7:12Speaker 2: is it. No, but if this is the time of
- 7:13Speaker 2: the year where the antlers are growing, and as long
- 7:15Speaker 2: as the moon has been full, there's gonna be some
- 7:18Speaker 2: big old bucks out there. Oh absolutely, I mean it is.
- 7:21Speaker 2: You're right though. And I watched the news last night.
- 7:24Speaker 2: They had some beautiful pictures of like a blood red moon.
- 7:28Speaker 2: It's just like every morning I'm driving a beautiful it's
- 7:31Speaker 2: a full moon. I love it. Wasn't it a full
- 7:33Speaker 2: moon two weeks ago? Isn't that? But that's pretty don't
- 7:36Speaker 2: know it, it's gorgeous. No, I'm not complaining at the
- 7:40Speaker 2: slasht I'm just yeah, I just can't help but notice
- 7:43Speaker 2: that it feels like the moon's been full for forever,
- 7:45Speaker 2: all right, But have you ever heard of a buck moon? Never?
- 7:49Speaker 2: I haven't either. It's just it's like they're making stuff
- 7:52Speaker 2: up now. It's like, well we need to call this
- 7:54Speaker 2: something else. It's like we're running out of things, the names.
- 7:58Speaker 2: I think, so at one point we got to run
- 8:01Speaker 2: out of names of hurricanes. No, probably not right because
- 8:05Speaker 2: they'll just recycle, you think so. Yeah, I mean if
- 8:07Speaker 2: they retire some of the names, yeah, you've got your
- 8:09Speaker 2: retired name, so those will never be brought back. But
- 8:12Speaker 2: like say, Abigail was not a bad hurricane, and we've
- 8:15Speaker 2: already had an Abigail, They'll they'll recycle back now Michael
- 8:18Speaker 2: has been retired, hasn't it. I did some damage, that's
- 8:21Speaker 2: fun absolutely, Ida, Oh my gosh, it was so funny.
- 8:26Speaker 2: I will say my you know, my former co host
- 8:29Speaker 2: did a picture of the hurricane going up towards his place.
- 8:33Speaker 2: He has a condo up in Panama City, and he
- 8:36Speaker 2: put my picture on the hurricane. It was funny. I
- 8:39Speaker 2: did enjoy that. But yeah, I've definitely did some damage
- 8:43Speaker 2: up there on the Panha hopefully knock on wood. What
- 8:47Speaker 2: is it this year that they're having where the hurricanes
- 8:50Speaker 2: are mostly over in the Pacific Ocean. La Nina, La Nina.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Thank you. By the way, I've had a cyclone, never hurricane,
- 8:59Speaker 2: but hypothetic hurricanes Wikipedia page, just predicting we'll get a
- 9:03Speaker 2: Justin in twenty ninety. See. I guarantee you don't think
- 9:06Speaker 2: this was funny. Chris Farley when he was on SNL
- 9:10Speaker 2: and he claimed he was El Nino and he was
- 9:13Speaker 2: like a wrestling in a wrestling outfit. I am El Nino.
- 9:17Speaker 2: It's just great. Okay, Sorry, I did watch the documentary
- 9:21Speaker 2: on him the other night. That's probably why I'm reminded
- 9:24Speaker 2: of a lot of this kind of stuff. My text phone.
- 9:26Speaker 2: My phone is going crazy now right now with text
- 9:29Speaker 2: for what. I don't know. People don't know I'm on
- 9:32Speaker 2: the radio. But that's okay. I'll answer them in a
- 9:35Speaker 2: little bit. But so, the one is from Lexington and
- 9:37Speaker 2: one is a doctor's office. So, by the way, hurricane
- 9:40Speaker 2: names are reused every six years. Oh, come on, so
- 9:44Speaker 2: we'll never run out. Well wait a minute, they do
- 9:47Speaker 2: retire something once they're retired. Okay, I was gonna say
- 9:51Speaker 2: that they should have a Hall of Fame of Hurricanes
- 9:56Speaker 2: I'm sure they probably do. Right. Who is the biggest
- 9:58Speaker 2: name hurricane that you remember? Katrina? Me too. That's probably
- 10:02Speaker 2: the one because my son went to two Lane down
- 10:06Speaker 2: in New Orleans, and you know, this was ten years,
- 10:09Speaker 2: twelve years after Katrina, and they still hadn't repaired everything
- 10:14Speaker 2: in New Orleans. It was kind of crazy. Ike's probably
- 10:16Speaker 2: the second one that comes to mind. That's a good one,
- 10:19Speaker 2: just not that it I don't think it caused all
- 10:21Speaker 2: that much damage down south, but the fact that it
- 10:24Speaker 2: got all the way up until into our area and
- 10:27Speaker 2: it was still basically hurricane conditions with the wind and
- 10:30Speaker 2: all that. That's That's something I'll never forget. Really. Okay, Uh,
- 10:36Speaker 2: I'm trying to think. I know there was a really
- 10:38Speaker 2: famous one here, Andrew. That's it down South Florida, wasn't it. Yeah,
- 10:43Speaker 2: that's the other one that I would remember, Yeah, Andrew.
- 10:47Speaker 2: And the other one in New Orleans you just mentioned,
- 10:49Speaker 2: which I've already Katrina. Thank you. Yeah, let's just color
- 10:52Speaker 2: cat Okay, kat I'm going with it. I like that.
- 10:56Speaker 2: I have always liked the name Katrina. It reminds me
- 10:59Speaker 2: of YOUU of l I don't know why, but oh,
- 11:02Speaker 2: is that what it is Oh okay, yeah, just kidding anyway,
- 11:07Speaker 2: But uh, all right, we got a lot to talk
- 11:08Speaker 2: about today because it's it's right before the weekend. It
- 11:10Speaker 2: seems like there's always a lot more to talk about.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Monday is a big day, you know, as far as
- 11:17Speaker 2: you got you had the whole weekend, you got all
- 11:19Speaker 2: kinds of topics talk about. Tuesday, you still have a
- 11:21Speaker 2: little left over from the weekend. Then Wednesday it completely
- 11:24Speaker 2: drives me. Thursday is a little the same way. Then Friday.
- 11:28Speaker 2: It seems like you got a lot of stuff to
- 11:29Speaker 2: talk about, and if you're getting ready for the weekend,
- 11:31Speaker 2: when it always comes from out of nowhere to yeah,
- 11:33Speaker 2: oh yeah exactly because I'm well aware what you're out
- 11:37Speaker 2: of nowhere was yesterday that you talked about this morning,
- 11:40Speaker 2: which we will be discussing as well a little later. Uh,
- 11:44Speaker 2: but uh, I think that Uh yesterday, when Jay Batt
- 11:49Speaker 2: was interviewed the new athletic director, uh, he did say,
- 11:54Speaker 2: all right, you all right, I'll let you start first.
- 11:56Speaker 2: What do you think The most interesting thing he said was,
- 11:59Speaker 2: oh my god, I knew you were gonna put me
- 12:01Speaker 2: on the spot. Well you said it. Don't don't ever
- 12:03Speaker 2: say it. Admittedly, let me put my hand up. That's okay.
- 12:06Speaker 2: I only watched about two of the clips. Okay, so
- 12:09Speaker 2: talk about the two clips. Then you don't even remember
- 12:13Speaker 2: the two clips. Don't you know how much video I
- 12:15Speaker 2: watched last night? I have no idea. I felt like
- 12:18Speaker 2: Kurt Signetty with as much film as I really. Okay, good,
- 12:20Speaker 2: all right, that's okay, you take your time. And here's
- 12:24Speaker 2: what I thought, because I thought this was a relatively
- 12:27Speaker 2: good question. Uh but uh J Batt was asked about
- 12:33Speaker 2: uh financial support? Can the UK football team do they
- 12:41Speaker 2: have the financial support succeed in this era of football?
- 12:45Speaker 2: And I thought that was a really good question and
- 12:48Speaker 2: a fair question because it seems like, well, I shouldn't
- 12:53Speaker 2: say that. I'm not even gonna say it. But that's
- 12:56Speaker 2: the one thing I always worry about. More of the
- 12:59Speaker 2: fans are more interested in the basketball than they are football,
- 13:04Speaker 2: and I don't know if that's necessarily true or not. Anymore,
- 13:08Speaker 2: do you still consider do you think the fan base
- 13:13Speaker 2: is more of a basketball fan base at UK or
- 13:16Speaker 2: do you think it's pretty much even up. I think
- 13:19Speaker 2: it's basketball and I don't think it's even close. See,
- 13:22Speaker 2: and that's where I think you're wrong. I still think basketball.
- 13:26Speaker 2: I think about the whole fan base. Yeah, I am
- 13:29Speaker 2: people everywhere. Yes, i'd say it's I don't know, sixty
- 13:36Speaker 2: forty that see, I think that's a good guess, so
- 13:38Speaker 2: do I. And it's that's that's close to me. That
- 13:41Speaker 2: is close. I was gonna say, wait a minute, now,
- 13:43Speaker 2: I thought you're gonna like seventy five, twenty five or
- 13:46Speaker 2: eighty twenty that wouldn't surprise. Sixty forty is more what
- 13:49Speaker 2: I feel like it. And we can put a lot
- 13:52Speaker 2: of credit to Mark Stoops for this and Vince meryld uh.
- 13:57Speaker 2: But I look at it today and I'm thinking, Okay,
- 14:01Speaker 2: here's how I related. Remember back in the day, you
- 14:04Speaker 2: had cat's paws thanks to Oscar Combs, who I love dearly.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Oscar comes, you could always tell when football season was
- 14:12Speaker 2: getting ready to start because the cat's pause would come
- 14:15Speaker 2: out and it'd be all football. But then you knew
- 14:19Speaker 2: the season wasn't going well when you started to see
- 14:22Speaker 2: basketball trickling in before basketball season started and before football
- 14:27Speaker 2: season was over, it was nothing but basketball. That's how
- 14:31Speaker 2: you knew football was not doing well. Now I feel
- 14:34Speaker 2: like with the higher with all the recruits that are
- 14:38Speaker 2: coming in with everything will Stein has going on, because
- 14:42Speaker 2: he got the hot hand right now, and not only
- 14:45Speaker 2: does he have the hot hand here for UK, but
- 14:47Speaker 2: he has a hot hand. He's getting a lot of
- 14:49Speaker 2: recognition throughout the country, not just the SEC, but throughout
- 14:53Speaker 2: the country. People are talking about him, and I think
- 14:56Speaker 2: a lot of it, what a lot of it that
- 14:59Speaker 2: helped him is that he came from a school across
- 15:02Speaker 2: the country, so Oregon. All the people out west are like,
- 15:07Speaker 2: how is will Stein doing? And they see what he's
- 15:09Speaker 2: doing at UK, and I think that's gotten a lot
- 15:11Speaker 2: of positive attention for him. Now, do I think that
- 15:16Speaker 2: has built up more excitement? Yes? But has it changed
- 15:21Speaker 2: from I would say before he got here, With how
- 15:24Speaker 2: the last couple of years went for Mark Stoops, I
- 15:27Speaker 2: would say the interest in UK football compared to UK
- 15:32Speaker 2: basketball had probably fallen to seventy thirty if not more. Maybe,
- 15:40Speaker 2: but I'm just gonna be conservative, Okay. I really believe
- 15:44Speaker 2: will Stein has built that up by ten percent with
- 15:47Speaker 2: no exception. I really do. And I think that is
- 15:51Speaker 2: a major positive because you still hear basketball trickle in,
- 15:56Speaker 2: but you're always going to hear that because the fact,
- 15:59Speaker 2: now you're recruiting all year long. And guess what that was.
- 16:04Speaker 2: One of those things I think Cal got a little
- 16:06Speaker 2: tired of is that during when basketball season started that
- 16:10Speaker 2: one year twenty eighteen, twenty nineteen, twenty twenty, you were
- 16:15Speaker 2: starting to hear a little more about football during the
- 16:18Speaker 2: start of basketball. That's all I was gonna say. Can't
- 16:20Speaker 2: you take this whole situation and compare it to the
- 16:23Speaker 2: end of Cal's time? Absolutely, although not really because football
- 16:28Speaker 2: wasn't great at that juncture. No it wasn't, but it
- 16:31Speaker 2: still was left over from the year before and the
- 16:33Speaker 2: year before that. So I do believe, and this is
- 16:38Speaker 2: not a knock on Cal, I do believe he got
- 16:41Speaker 2: a little jealous. In fact, I firmly believe that of
- 16:44Speaker 2: how the success of UK football was going, because that
- 16:48Speaker 2: just turred the attention that he liked to receive over
- 16:51Speaker 2: to the football side. And I get it. And that
- 16:55Speaker 2: is not a promise. That's not a knock at all.
- 16:57Speaker 2: But I feel like will Star has it really going
- 17:01Speaker 2: on right now to where if the season goes relatively well,
- 17:07Speaker 2: if he has a successful season, I think he bumps
- 17:10Speaker 2: that up even another five percent. I'm not gonna say
- 17:13Speaker 2: another ten percent, but I'm gonna say it might be
- 17:16Speaker 2: fifty five forty five. That UK fan base is getting
- 17:21Speaker 2: into will Stein and UK football. I think after media days,
- 17:26Speaker 2: how he did, I think that bumped it up. I
- 17:29Speaker 2: think the recruiting is bumped it up. It's just something
- 17:32Speaker 2: new and exciting, right, I mean absolutely it is. People
- 17:35Speaker 2: are always gonna be bought in at first with any
- 17:38Speaker 2: coach you bring in, right, I mean there have been exceptions,
- 17:42Speaker 2: but I mean when you get a new guy come in,
- 17:44Speaker 2: especially one that grew up a fan of the of
- 17:47Speaker 2: your team, that's huge and that that should be exciting
- 17:51Speaker 2: to the fan base. Well, when we come back, I
- 17:53Speaker 2: want to talk about what Jay Bett said as far
- 17:56Speaker 2: as how he answered that question. So let's talk about that.
- 17:59Speaker 2: Five O two three for fourteen fifty. Who want to
- 18:01Speaker 2: call in five two four one four fourteen fifty? You
- 18:04Speaker 2: want to text in on the Whiskey Pee text line
- 18:06Speaker 2: and I'll get to your texas soon as we get
- 18:08Speaker 2: back as well. But I want to talk about and
- 18:11Speaker 2: then you think about what were those things justin because
- 18:15Speaker 2: I want you to go back. Okay, good, You're good
- 18:17Speaker 2: to go. So we'll talk about that. Too, stay right
- 18:19Speaker 2: there a lot more of justic CAAT's coming right up. Brown,
- 18:43Speaker 2: You want to know the funny part. What's up? I
- 18:45Speaker 2: was intentionally asking you more questions, just as see if
- 18:48Speaker 2: we can get dead here and there? Stop, why are
- 18:51Speaker 2: you doing that?
- 18:53Speaker 3: Grow up?
- 18:53Speaker 2: See, I'm never gonna grow up. Just had the comment
- 18:57Speaker 2: last segment to you about how unprofessional you are radio
- 19:00Speaker 2: side of things, and that first break you prove it. Okay,
- 19:09Speaker 2: it doesn't make you look bad. It makes me look bad. No,
- 19:11Speaker 2: it doesn't. It doesn't make either one of us. It
- 19:14Speaker 2: just makes me have a laugh because I knew it
- 19:16Speaker 2: was going to kind of get to you a little
- 19:18Speaker 2: bit under your skin, and it just that makes me
- 19:20Speaker 2: because it's hard to get under your skin. It is,
- 19:23Speaker 2: it really is. And the fact that I was able
- 19:26Speaker 2: to do it just a few minutes ago and that
- 19:28Speaker 2: was the goal. I am very proud of myself right now. No,
- 19:32Speaker 2: I'm never going out. That makes me so happy. All right.
- 19:36Speaker 2: So let's go back to j Batt. The question was
- 19:41Speaker 2: ask UK football has the finance? Does UK Football had
- 19:46Speaker 2: the financial support to succeed in this hair? His answer
- 19:50Speaker 2: I thought was great. I thought he really did a
- 19:52Speaker 2: nice job on this here. He's good. I'm going to
- 19:54Speaker 2: answer that emphatically. Yes. In fact, I wouldn't be here
- 19:59Speaker 2: and Will I wouldn't be here if that wasn't a yes.
- 20:04Speaker 2: I love that answer. Just to let you know, I
- 20:06Speaker 2: thought Jay Bett did a phenomenal job yesterday and I
- 20:10Speaker 2: was thoroughly impressed. And I'm gonna tell you, I'm really
- 20:13Speaker 2: excited about it. I'm excited he just buy that one
- 20:16Speaker 2: interview I am. I'm hopeful. I'm not gonna say, listen,
- 20:20Speaker 2: this is the end all bll No, no, no, no,
- 20:22Speaker 2: not even close to that. Let's let's let him have
- 20:24Speaker 2: the job for at least a year before we say
- 20:28Speaker 2: how j batt but is doing. Because I'm going to
- 20:31Speaker 2: tell you right now, as far as will Stein how
- 20:35Speaker 2: he was done so far at uk Man, I'm hard
- 20:40Speaker 2: pressed not to give him an a so far, I
- 20:43Speaker 2: really am. Let's see how the season goes. But right now,
- 20:47Speaker 2: in the few months that he's been at UIs Kentucky,
- 20:50Speaker 2: he gets an eight and you agree with that absolutely
- 20:52Speaker 2: all right? You now remember the things you liked that
- 20:57Speaker 2: Jay Bett had to say. I want to hear what
- 20:58Speaker 2: you think for me. I was just really impressed with
- 21:04Speaker 2: how much praise he gave Big Blue Nation and just
- 21:07Speaker 2: the fan base as a whole, and how much of
- 21:09Speaker 2: an asset that they can be moving forward within this
- 21:12Speaker 2: whole athletic department. They can really be the fuel that
- 21:15Speaker 2: gets Kentucky Athletics back to where quite frankly it should
- 21:18Speaker 2: be exactly. So that's really That was my really only takeaway.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Like I said, I didn't see the whole interview. I
- 21:25Speaker 2: didn't hear the whole interview. Only saw a couple of
- 21:27Speaker 2: clips last night. But yeah, I went back and listened
- 21:30Speaker 2: to it. I didn't hear it live because honestly, I
- 21:33Speaker 2: didn't know he was going to be on there. Then
- 21:34Speaker 2: you get on Twitter and like, oh Jay bats on
- 21:37Speaker 2: the radio show. But anyway, good for them to be
- 21:40Speaker 2: able to get him, and glad he did the interview
- 21:42Speaker 2: because that was one of those things we didn't get
- 21:45Speaker 2: from our last athletic director for a while. I mean,
- 21:48Speaker 2: he had come on with me, but then he got
- 21:50Speaker 2: mad at me and never came back on, which is fine.
- 21:54Speaker 2: The other thing that Jay Batt said, he's already agreed
- 21:59Speaker 2: to Jersey Path Jersey Patch deal. Yeah, who was that with?
- 22:04Speaker 2: I didn't I never never said Oh really, we don't
- 22:07Speaker 2: know yet, so we're just supposed to guess exactly. That's
- 22:10Speaker 2: that's so uh central, it has to be, don't you think,
- 22:16Speaker 2: even though I would love it if it's big ass fans.
- 22:18Speaker 2: I mean, I'm just telling you right now. You know
- 22:21Speaker 2: the other company I thought of that U of L
- 22:22Speaker 2: should get who's that? Churchill Downs. Oh yeah, come on,
- 22:27Speaker 2: Churchill Downs. They're in the business of making money. They're
- 22:29Speaker 2: not gonna give money. Oh really? Oh so you think
- 22:32Speaker 2: they're kind of cheap By the way, they're selling a
- 22:34Speaker 2: bunch of casinos. Did you see that? They want to
- 22:37Speaker 2: they want to concentrate. It was in the Thoroughbred Daily
- 22:40Speaker 2: News yesterday Churchill Downs is selling uh four or five
- 22:44Speaker 2: six different casinos to concentrate solely on horse racing. Didn't
- 22:48Speaker 2: know they had that many casinos? Yeah, oh yeah. Did
- 22:50Speaker 2: see the plans for the infield? Oh did you I
- 22:53Speaker 2: miss that? Yeah? So they're gonna do like a cabana
- 22:56Speaker 2: section to the right of of where the dude blow
- 23:00Speaker 2: a little bugle and then I like that id to
- 23:03Speaker 2: the left, like further down the track, like closer to
- 23:06Speaker 2: where you would start. You're gonna do like infield seating
- 23:10Speaker 2: not I don't know. I couldn't tell if it was
- 23:12Speaker 2: bleachers or what. But yeah, they're gonna do a whole
- 23:15Speaker 2: section there for infield seating. Well they've already they've had
- 23:18Speaker 2: that in the past, temporary seating that they do there,
- 23:20Speaker 2: and it's just a horror. And then they have a
- 23:22Speaker 2: couple of suites out there. It's just a horrible seat.
- 23:25Speaker 2: I don't know why, no offense, I don't know why
- 23:27Speaker 2: anybody wouldn't buy that, but because then you're stuck out there.
- 23:31Speaker 2: I don't want to sit in the infield in general. No,
- 23:33Speaker 2: I have no interest in that at all. But all right,
- 23:35Speaker 2: going back to the whole patch thing. Do you really
- 23:38Speaker 2: think companies so Indiana does not have one yet? Right?
- 23:42Speaker 3: Not?
- 23:42Speaker 2: To my knowledge, we know Notre Dame has so far.
- 23:46Speaker 2: We were talking about Illinois has one. I don't remember
- 23:49Speaker 2: who it is. It's the Bank Bucy Bank. Why I
- 23:53Speaker 2: remember that, that's Gary Busey. But I'm trying to think
- 23:57Speaker 2: who else? Did we talk about? Ohio State one? It
- 24:00Speaker 2: has one? I don't chase, that's right, JP, JP Morgan Chase.
- 24:05Speaker 2: Do you really think these companies benefit from the patches
- 24:11Speaker 2: like I I I'm curious because like with Central Bank, uh,
- 24:18Speaker 2: do they really get customers because they advertise for UK.
- 24:22Speaker 2: UK would probably shoot me for asking this question, I know.
- 24:25Speaker 2: I mean it's a fair question to ask though, because
- 24:27Speaker 2: as someone who works in radio, I mean I have
- 24:31Speaker 2: to deal with sponsors and sponsorship all the time, and right,
- 24:36Speaker 2: it would be unfair if I said that I haven't
- 24:38Speaker 2: thought about that same thing hundreds of times, you know,
- 24:42Speaker 2: like I, especially the companies that don't need to advertise.
- 24:48Speaker 2: That's where that's where it really bothers me, and I
- 24:50Speaker 2: would maybe consider no. Central Bank probably does. They probably
- 24:54Speaker 2: do get people because everybody's probably not familiar with Central Well,
- 24:58Speaker 2: everybody that questions radio radio does work because anytime I
- 25:02Speaker 2: talk about a wholesopple, anytime I talk about whiskey thief,
- 25:06Speaker 2: I think people are, oh, there's whiskey thief that when
- 25:10Speaker 2: you're driving down I sixty four from Louisville towards Lexing,
- 25:12Speaker 2: we should go there someday. Now. I definitely think radio
- 25:17Speaker 2: radio watches are different. The patches are different because they're
- 25:20Speaker 2: not being It's not like you're shoving them down people's
- 25:24Speaker 2: throat like you are a radio commercial, right, so you're
- 25:27Speaker 2: just they if they don't want to look at the patch,
- 25:29Speaker 2: they don't have to look at the patch. Yeah, but yeah,
- 25:32Speaker 2: I don't know, that's a that's a great question that
- 25:34Speaker 2: The thing that bothers me with advertising is the people
- 25:37Speaker 2: that advertise that don't need it, Like why is why
- 25:40Speaker 2: is McDonald's or Walmart? Why are they spending thousands and
- 25:44Speaker 2: thousands and thousands of dollars on advertising campaigns? Everybody knows
- 25:48Speaker 2: those two businesses. Yeah, but you'd be surprised how quickly
- 25:53Speaker 2: people forget them too, So you always want to be
- 25:55Speaker 2: reminded those are two businesses that nobody's I don't know.
- 25:59Speaker 2: I mean if if if I did this, you know
- 26:03Speaker 2: exactly what I'm talking about exactly see, And if it
- 26:08Speaker 2: weren't for that advertisement, you would not have known that.
- 26:11Speaker 2: And it makes you think, Man, I hadn't had a
- 26:13Speaker 2: McDonald's breakfast in a long time on going to go.
- 26:16Speaker 2: I just think you need to stay in the eye.
- 26:18Speaker 2: Once you start getting successful, you still need to continue
- 26:22Speaker 2: to stay in the eye. The public just feels like
- 26:25Speaker 2: wasted money. I just just like that's where I think
- 26:28Speaker 2: UK has made some mistakes. I feel like Mitch Barnhardt
- 26:31Speaker 2: made mistakes towards the end of his tenure, if he had,
- 26:36Speaker 2: I wonder this, and I've won them several times, and
- 26:38Speaker 2: I'll bring it up right now, and I want your
- 26:40Speaker 2: which I know I'll get your honest answer. If Mitch
- 26:43Speaker 2: Barnhardt had continued to do interviews instead of just ignoring
- 26:49Speaker 2: everybody become this crotchety old grouch, if he had continued
- 26:53Speaker 2: to do interviews, go to radio shows and be interviewed
- 26:57Speaker 2: by all of them, do you think anyone would have
- 27:01Speaker 2: complained about the money he was about to get from UK,
- 27:04Speaker 2: the tickets, the club membership, all that stuff. I think
- 27:10Speaker 2: I kind of lean towards they wouldn't have been as
- 27:13Speaker 2: upset because they would have seen him because people started complaining, Well,
- 27:16Speaker 2: we never hear him interview. Do we never hear what
- 27:19Speaker 2: his response? We never hear anything from Mitch pont And
- 27:22Speaker 2: I think that's the mistake that Mitch Barnhart and sometimes
- 27:26Speaker 2: UK makes, is that we try to shy away from
- 27:28Speaker 2: the media, when that is the rule. When the bad
- 27:32Speaker 2: gets bad, that's the first thing you need to do
- 27:35Speaker 2: is go talk to the media, not when it's just
- 27:38Speaker 2: the positives out there. Am I wrong about that? Do
- 27:41Speaker 2: you think Mitch Barnhart could have gotten away if he
- 27:45Speaker 2: had continued to be on the positive side of the
- 27:48Speaker 2: UK fan base. I mean, it may have been a
- 27:51Speaker 2: little bit better, but I still think you would have
- 27:54Speaker 2: had a large faction of people like yourself, quite frankly,
- 27:57Speaker 2: who just felt like that was far too like why
- 28:01Speaker 2: are you giving this guy ten tickets? Why are you
- 28:03Speaker 2: giving him this? Why are you giving him that? I mean,
- 28:05Speaker 2: there was there was a lot of people with that mindset,
- 28:07Speaker 2: And I don't know that you're changing everyone's mind if
- 28:10Speaker 2: he's he's out doing interviews, Does it help?
- 28:12Speaker 3: Sure?
- 28:13Speaker 2: Probably, But because I mean, especially in today's day and age,
- 28:16Speaker 2: you I understand there's situations where you may not want to,
- 28:22Speaker 2: but there is no reason that the college athletics shouldn't
- 28:27Speaker 2: be working with the media and the media and and
- 28:29Speaker 2: vice versa. I mean, and those two, the media and
- 28:33Speaker 2: and college athletic programs could have such a good relationship,
- 28:37Speaker 2: such a good working relationship where the the athletics are
- 28:41Speaker 2: helping the media media can then in term relay information
- 28:46Speaker 2: to help these athletes and athletics and all that. So
- 28:49Speaker 2: I just think it could be such a good working relationship,
- 28:52Speaker 2: and especially in today's day and age. It's almost like
- 28:54Speaker 2: you need to have that. I had a very healthy
- 28:57Speaker 2: conversation with somebody, uh not too far in the distant paths,
- 29:02Speaker 2: talking about how it seems like UK and this made
- 29:06Speaker 2: me think, it seems like UK is trying to take
- 29:10Speaker 2: away the media from everybody else and for them to
- 29:14Speaker 2: have their own media and to control it themselves. Isn't
- 29:17Speaker 2: that a JMI thing? Yeah, very much so. A JMI
- 29:22Speaker 2: is very much a part of that. I mean, you know,
- 29:24Speaker 2: you got their radio broadcasts and their regular weekly shows
- 29:28Speaker 2: with football and basketball coaches. Then you got now the
- 29:32Speaker 2: television show that they have greatly beautifully produced, great host
- 29:37Speaker 2: great everything. But I have a problem with that. I'm
- 29:40Speaker 2: not going to criticize those people that do it, not
- 29:44Speaker 2: at all, because I think they have a definite need
- 29:47Speaker 2: and a definite positive job for the university. But don't
- 29:51Speaker 2: you sometimes want to hear a different angle because you
- 29:54Speaker 2: don't want company people constantly talking the ups of your company.
- 30:00Speaker 2: Sometimes you want to have critical thinking, and when you
- 30:06Speaker 2: shun the rest of the media, you forget about critical thinking,
- 30:11Speaker 2: you forget about the fan base. Is that sometimes is
- 30:14Speaker 2: going to be critical towards COACHESS towards your team, towards
- 30:19Speaker 2: the school. I think that's just equally, if not more
- 30:23Speaker 2: important than just having the company sale every single weekend,
- 30:27Speaker 2: week out. It's an interesting take because the way I
- 30:30Speaker 2: see it, anything controversial I don't want in the public eye.
- 30:37Speaker 2: I see that's wrong. And I know because all the
- 30:40Speaker 2: points you just brought up were pretty good points it
- 30:43Speaker 2: because it does allow for critical thinking. But my mindset
- 30:46Speaker 2: has always been, well, if it's negative or can bring
- 30:49Speaker 2: something negative from outside, then I don't want it out
- 30:52Speaker 2: there at all. See, once you get a little scratch
- 30:56Speaker 2: on your arm, guess what. You continue to scratch it
- 31:00Speaker 2: and scratch it, all of a sudden, it gets infected
- 31:02Speaker 2: and becomes a bigger problem. That's what you're trying to
- 31:05Speaker 2: do right there by not allowing some of that negativity coming.
- 31:10Speaker 2: You gotta address it every now and then. And when
- 31:12Speaker 2: you don't allow the rest of the outside media to
- 31:16Speaker 2: be a part of it, guess what that little infection
- 31:19Speaker 2: is going to be become a worse, worse issue, and
- 31:23Speaker 2: then it's going to blow up in your face. So
- 31:25Speaker 2: that's where I think it's important to keep the rest
- 31:28Speaker 2: of the media, including you and me as a part
- 31:31Speaker 2: of a university school whatever it is. Yeah, once you
- 31:35Speaker 2: close it out and it's only company people, people are
- 31:38Speaker 2: gonna get tired of that and get fed up with it.
- 31:40Speaker 2: And then when it's time to ask real questions, you're
- 31:43Speaker 2: not going to get those real questions. That's why John
- 31:45Speaker 2: cal Perry got mad at me, because I was asking
- 31:48Speaker 2: questions that the fans wanted answered. Well, cal didn't want
- 31:51Speaker 2: to face those, and that was a mistake. You always
- 31:54Speaker 2: want to face both sides, not just one side. You're right,
- 31:59Speaker 2: you're right, by the way. Good to squirrel on you
- 32:01Speaker 2: real quick. I'm Michael Beinimo, speaking of scratching that itches.
- 32:06Speaker 2: I learned something yesterday and I have something to go by.
- 32:09Speaker 2: Is it about You can get a spray at Walgreens
- 32:11Speaker 2: for that? No? No, no, no, all right. So the mosquitoes
- 32:15Speaker 2: in my backyard, for whatever reason, Yes, they've been horrible horror.
- 32:20Speaker 2: I mean, even though it hasn't even rain, they've been
- 32:23Speaker 2: so bad. Needless to say, my legs are covered in
- 32:29Speaker 2: mosquito bars? Are they really covered? And they're so freaking itchy.
- 32:34Speaker 2: But I learned something yesterday, ran across it by accident,
- 32:37Speaker 2: and I've got to go next door and get me
- 32:39Speaker 2: a banana Any idea, Why m does the banana peel
- 32:47Speaker 2: if you rub it on your leg do anything? Does
- 32:49Speaker 2: it really say that if you rub the inside of
- 32:52Speaker 2: a banana peel on your mosquito bite, Yes, it'll pull
- 32:56Speaker 2: that whatever it is that they put into your skin,
- 32:59Speaker 2: it'll really completely out. And they said within five minutes
- 33:02Speaker 2: you'll stop itching and not incredible, that is increasedb I have.
- 33:07Speaker 2: That is awesome. See, I love that's home. That's called
- 33:10Speaker 2: home remedy exactly. I love home remedies and there are
- 33:15Speaker 2: so many crazy ones that would be a topic we
- 33:18Speaker 2: could talk about literally for an entire show home Remedies.
- 33:22Speaker 2: So we need to have you have a big home
- 33:24Speaker 2: remedy guy before really well, I'm always self diagnosed for myself,
- 33:29Speaker 2: which is going to be a one day You don't
- 33:32Speaker 2: need to be self diagnosing yourself a dangerous way to live.
- 33:36Speaker 2: But yeah, the amount of home remedy Google searches I've
- 33:40Speaker 2: had in my life would blow your mind. I home
- 33:43Speaker 2: remedy everything, banana appeal, right, I'm ready to test it out,
- 33:49Speaker 2: So I listen, I think you should run over there.
- 33:52Speaker 2: I'll start the show in the next segment and you
- 33:55Speaker 2: go take care of it, take care of the business
- 33:58Speaker 2: of just listen. It is weird though, because I'll say this,
- 34:01Speaker 2: We'll be outside my wife and I will be and
- 34:04Speaker 2: she'll get eaten up by mosquitoes and I won't have
- 34:07Speaker 2: a single one. Well, but do not bite me. That's
- 34:11Speaker 2: because you must be sour. Is that what it is? Yeah?
- 34:14Speaker 2: My son was telling me, No, it's because your blood type.
- 34:18Speaker 2: They don't prefer your blood type. They like your mother's blood,
- 34:21Speaker 2: my mom's blood. But I have no idea. Really, I
- 34:24Speaker 2: have no idea what my blood type is. Do you
- 34:26Speaker 2: know I'm all positive? How do you know that? Because
- 34:30Speaker 2: I used to give blood all the time. Oh you did.
- 34:32Speaker 2: That's why I've never even No, I've been the one time. Yeah, no,
- 34:36Speaker 2: I just I don't know. I haven't positive the universal ones.
- 34:39Speaker 2: That's pretty it is. Yeah. My problem is my veins
- 34:43Speaker 2: are my blood veins, let me clarify, that are very small.
- 34:47Speaker 2: And they always have a hard time. What is it
- 34:50Speaker 2: of the bottomist or something? Is the person that takes
- 34:54Speaker 2: blood from you sounds right? Is that what it is?
- 34:56Speaker 2: I believe that's what And they always have a hard
- 34:58Speaker 2: time getting I into my blood vein that sucks. It's
- 35:05Speaker 2: oh it does. So you've never given plast oh my no, never,
- 35:09Speaker 2: because when it's happened, I mean, I'll never forget. I
- 35:12Speaker 2: was in an office a few years back and the
- 35:15Speaker 2: lady was digging around for my vessel, my blood vessel,
- 35:19Speaker 2: and all of a sudden, I didn't even realize I
- 35:21Speaker 2: was saying it. I yelled, you're hurting me, and the
- 35:25Speaker 2: doctor came running. It's like, Michael, you okay, and like,
- 35:28Speaker 2: oh crap. I didn't mean to yell that, and she
- 35:31Speaker 2: felt so bad. I had to apologize to her like
- 35:34Speaker 2: fifty times, even though she was apology to me probably
- 35:36Speaker 2: one hundred times. I did. I just blurted out, you're
- 35:39Speaker 2: hurting me anyway. Oh, we gotta take a break. Five
- 35:42Speaker 2: o two three eight four fourteen fifty. Uh, And I
- 35:44Speaker 2: promise I'll get to your text as soon as we
- 35:46Speaker 2: get back. Five oh two four one four fourteen fifty.
- 35:49Speaker 2: This is just a cat.
- 35:57Speaker 3: Well one. You got to all the world time and time.
- 36:35Speaker 2: Stories fasts, so only a come for all the I
- 36:47Speaker 2: love this song. Yeah good, Paul right here, they're really good.
- 36:51Speaker 2: All right. This would be another band I've never seen
- 36:54Speaker 2: before that I would love to go see I would.
- 36:57Speaker 2: I wouldn't mind. You wouldn't mind. Really, I mean they
- 37:00Speaker 2: don't have that many songs, No, they don't, and I
- 37:02Speaker 2: would care to see a concert. But they've definitely got
- 37:05Speaker 2: five or six that I think would. They're just unbelievable. Yeah,
- 37:08Speaker 2: and uh, because uh, his voice, the lead singers, I've
- 37:13Speaker 2: heard him sing a couple of times, sounds the exact same.
- 37:15Speaker 2: And that's a great song. You make fun of that,
- 37:20Speaker 2: but I like that song. I love it. Yeah, and
- 37:23Speaker 2: I hate that Creed gets the hate that they do. Yeah,
- 37:25Speaker 2: because they're awesome. Why do they man nickel back that
- 37:29Speaker 2: that was the other one? Yeah? I don't understand it either.
- 37:33Speaker 2: But uh, anyway, now my wife is texting me during
- 37:37Speaker 2: the radio show. Wow, come on, four people need to
- 37:40Speaker 2: stop texting me right now. It really does. I gotta
- 37:42Speaker 2: I tell you what, turning my phone over there we go. Uh,
- 37:45Speaker 2: Mark Pope, did you see what he was doing yesterday?
- 37:50Speaker 2: Maybe he was surprising season ticket holders and going to
- 37:54Speaker 2: their house. All right, so I would take you, Okay,
- 37:59Speaker 2: I thought it was kind of nice. But on the
- 38:01Speaker 2: other hand, it's just kind of this is different. So
- 38:03Speaker 2: the first people that signed up for tickets to renew
- 38:05Speaker 2: their season tickets. He went to their house. Go ahead,
- 38:08Speaker 2: I love the video, love the idea. Okay, I mean him,
- 38:13Speaker 2: him and that one guy just going back and forth
- 38:16Speaker 2: in him pushing his car back. That was pretty cool.
- 38:18Speaker 2: That was funny. That was a cool story to hear.
- 38:21Speaker 2: And he was like, oh, that was me and ship. Anyways,
- 38:24Speaker 2: when you found out, did do you know what was
- 38:27Speaker 2: in those bags? I have no idea? All right, So
- 38:30Speaker 2: I had seen this earlier this week. Inside those bags
- 38:35Speaker 2: are two T shirts and two hats. Okay, to my knowledge,
- 38:41Speaker 2: that's it. Yeah? What should there should be more? We
- 38:44Speaker 2: are a multimillion dollar university where a huge chunk of
- 38:50Speaker 2: that money is coming from the basketball program, and you're
- 38:54Speaker 2: gonna give your most value season ticket holders a T
- 38:57Speaker 2: shirt and a ball cap, Kevin Chinzi, shouldn't it be
- 39:02Speaker 2: like a Peter Malar golf shirt, something really nice, yeah,
- 39:07Speaker 2: and a halfway decent hats, something like maybe some shoes,
- 39:11Speaker 2: maybe some of Mark Pope's tennis shoot. I don't have
- 39:14Speaker 2: any idea what it should have been instead. But if
- 39:18Speaker 2: I'm the first one to renew my season tickets and
- 39:21Speaker 2: Mark Pope's coming to my house, granted, that's probably part
- 39:25Speaker 2: of the guilt, and that was actually probably really cool
- 39:28Speaker 2: for that guy and his wife to sit out there
- 39:29Speaker 2: and talk to Mark Pope for however long that lasted.
- 39:32Speaker 2: But and I opened my bag and that's what I see. Yeah,
- 39:35Speaker 2: I'm gonna fell I'm gonna feel like kind of slapped
- 39:37Speaker 2: in the face. Here's what I think, because I think
- 39:40Speaker 2: that's a great point here. What should have happened to
- 39:42Speaker 2: the first people that signed up. I mean, it's it's
- 39:44Speaker 2: kind of a lottery thing. You won. You were the
- 39:47Speaker 2: first ones to sign up. We want to show you
- 39:49Speaker 2: our gratefulness and how much we appreciate you being a
- 39:53Speaker 2: loyal fan. Would I would have done and say, you
- 39:55Speaker 2: know what, I'll take a pair of my shoes or
- 39:58Speaker 2: one of the players, maybe Malachama his practice shoes. I mean,
- 40:02Speaker 2: they got dozens of them. You're not gonna lose one,
- 40:06Speaker 2: Paar and say, hey, where's my pair of practice shoes.
- 40:09Speaker 2: Just take a pair of his shoes with the autograph
- 40:11Speaker 2: on it. Don't you think they would? Or a basketball
- 40:15Speaker 2: basketballs aren't much and have the entire team sign it
- 40:18Speaker 2: and give it to them. But I'm with you. A
- 40:21Speaker 2: T shirt and a couple of hats. Okay, I will
- 40:23Speaker 2: say the first couple was neat because they at least
- 40:26Speaker 2: got a picture with Mark Pope so they can get
- 40:28Speaker 2: that printed off and put it in a frame. And
- 40:30Speaker 2: that's a neat little side gift. But let me just
- 40:33Speaker 2: say this, the two houses at least in the video
- 40:37Speaker 2: where Trent and Noah and Jerome Morton showed up. Yeah,
- 40:42Speaker 2: no disrespect to Jerome Morton or Trent Noah, but you
- 40:46Speaker 2: know how angry I would have been if I got
- 40:48Speaker 2: a knock on my door and I opened it and
- 40:50Speaker 2: out of all the UK basketball players it was those two.
- 40:55Speaker 2: That's kind of great. Seriously, they're a part of the team.
- 40:58Speaker 2: I get it, But there are twelve other guys I
- 41:01Speaker 2: would rather see it. My oh my gosh, wow. Watch
- 41:05Speaker 2: Trent Noah be the player of the year in the SEC,
- 41:07Speaker 2: honestly going to the NBA in the probably one of
- 41:11Speaker 2: the top draft picks. Honestly, I would have rather seen
- 41:14Speaker 2: Rhys Potter because at least at least I can like
- 41:18Speaker 2: look at him and be like, dang, you're tall. Yeah,
- 41:20Speaker 2: I mean Trent Noah and Jeron Morton. I think you'd
- 41:24Speaker 2: be excited if ORB showed up to your house. Okay, wow, man,
- 41:29Speaker 2: that's kind of cold right there. It may be that
- 41:32Speaker 2: they it. Maybe you'd probably open the door, say I'm sorry,
- 41:35Speaker 2: what do you want, and then shut the door on him. Yeah.
- 41:38Speaker 2: Either y'all gonna play this year? Oh my gosh, man,
- 41:41Speaker 2: that it's getting worse that allright? Is that anything you
- 41:45Speaker 2: would realistic, realistically say to a player. No? Absolutely not. No,
- 41:51Speaker 2: I do mean it that. If I opened my door
- 41:52Speaker 2: and I saw those be disappointed, I'd be very disappointed. Yeah. Man,
- 41:56Speaker 2: that's kind of cruel. I don't want to have you
- 41:59Speaker 2: to have that mindset, but I feel like that needed
- 42:00Speaker 2: to be said. Okay, well it was said, and now
- 42:03Speaker 2: you have that mindset. My goodness. Uh, you're you were
- 42:08Speaker 2: kind of cold hearted today, and I'm kind of I'm
- 42:11Speaker 2: kind of intrigued by it. Uh, one person, I don't
- 42:14Speaker 2: get this, uh scoots. I feel like Michael needs to
- 42:17Speaker 2: know should I be reading this, Yeah, you can read.
- 42:20Speaker 2: Michael needs to know what a platypus enclosure is called
- 42:23Speaker 2: as well. Did you hear me say it? No? No,
- 42:27Speaker 2: I missed that. Do you know what a platypus enclosure
- 42:29Speaker 2: is called?
- 42:29Speaker 3: No?
- 42:29Speaker 2: I have no idea. I don't even know what a
- 42:31Speaker 2: platypus enclosure is. It's just where they dwell. Really, what
- 42:36Speaker 2: we're a platypus. You know what a platypus is, right,
- 42:38Speaker 2: A dinosaur. A platypus has an current animal it is. Okay,
- 42:43Speaker 2: I have no idea. I'm sorry, I don't know what
- 42:45Speaker 2: a platypus is. It's like it's like the rodent with
- 42:48Speaker 2: a duct bill. Yeah, it's got webbed feet. It's one
- 42:51Speaker 2: of the coolest animals ever. Really, is this one you
- 42:53Speaker 2: want to keep too? Okay? So, but it's enclosure is called, yeah,
- 42:58Speaker 2: a platypus ory. I did hear you? Pretty good? It's
- 43:02Speaker 2: pretty good. Yeah, it's true. It's a little dangerous word
- 43:05Speaker 2: for me, A little bit dangerous. Yeah, I know. No,
- 43:09Speaker 2: I think that was a setup by mister Illinois. I
- 43:12Speaker 2: looked up. Oh really, I think he just wants to
- 43:14Speaker 2: say it and mess up. So I'm not no, sorry,
- 43:17Speaker 2: mister Illinois. Thank you. I really appreciate that. Uh so,
- 43:22Speaker 2: but I will use that later on the night. So yeah,
- 43:26Speaker 2: with one Patricia uh Michelle texted out and said basketball.
- 43:32Speaker 2: He thinks UK is a basketball school. I just I'm sorry,
- 43:38Speaker 2: I can't agree with that anymore. Uh not. And it's
- 43:41Speaker 2: not not a basketball football thing. It's a basketball, football, volleyball, baseball,
- 43:48Speaker 2: it's everything you can think of women's basketball. I just
- 43:52Speaker 2: think we're we're more than just one sport anymore. And
- 43:55Speaker 2: I'm going to give those other teams and coaches credit.
- 43:58Speaker 2: But that's not You're you're changing yourarameters here. That wasn't
- 44:01Speaker 2: the discussion. True, we were football basketball. If you want
- 44:04Speaker 2: to throw all these other sports in, it changes completely. Yeah.
- 44:07Speaker 2: I just think we're we're maybe on the when it's
- 44:11Speaker 2: basketball football, I still I say sixty forty so, and
- 44:15Speaker 2: I think that could change because I'll use your school,
- 44:19Speaker 2: you're alumna, your your alma mater as that example right there.
- 44:25Speaker 2: Indiana I have known as a basketball school literally all
- 44:29Speaker 2: my life. Do you call Indiana a basketball school anymore?
- 44:33Speaker 2: I still think, do you really? But it's hold on.
- 44:37Speaker 2: You just won a championship. No, I know that, but
- 44:40Speaker 2: it's only I mean, we don't know yet even if
- 44:42Speaker 2: that's was a flash in the pan, or if that's
- 44:44Speaker 2: something that's going to be continued for the next decade. Yeah,
- 44:48Speaker 2: So as of right now, it is getting closer, but
- 44:50Speaker 2: it's still very much a basketball school. Okay, all right, then,
- 44:53Speaker 2: well I I got you John here by Gosh, Michael
- 44:57Speaker 2: and Justin. I found a song I I really like.
- 45:00Speaker 2: I do not agree with all the words because there
- 45:03Speaker 2: is something mentioning of smoking or something like that. You
- 45:06Speaker 2: all know I am not into that stuff. However, it
- 45:08Speaker 2: is called the Day I Hang It Up is the
- 45:11Speaker 2: Day I Lay It Down. Oh, it's a great title.
- 45:13Speaker 2: It's by David Adcock. It is just my line, just
- 45:17Speaker 2: my line of thinking, for sure. So all right, we
- 45:19Speaker 2: gotta take a break. Hour two coming up. I'll get
- 45:22Speaker 2: to more of your text as soon as we get back.
- 45:23Speaker 2: Stay right there. This is just Freeze. Thank you.
- 45:36Speaker 1: Oh, welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 45:52Speaker 2: All right, second hour, Just the Cats on this Friday,
- 45:55Speaker 2: July thirty. First, it's just hard to believe. Before you
- 45:58Speaker 2: know it, it's gonna be.
- 45:59Speaker 3: Uh.
- 46:00Speaker 2: My state fair is a great state fair. You know
- 46:03Speaker 2: that song? By the way, No, that's an old a
- 46:06Speaker 2: song my dad every time the Kentucky State Fair would happen,
- 46:09Speaker 2: my deb My state fair is a great state fair.
- 46:13Speaker 2: I don't know. I think it was from a movie
- 46:17Speaker 2: or a play or something like. You will always sing
- 46:19Speaker 2: it I mean, he was a horrible singer, but I
- 46:21Speaker 2: loved hearing my dad singing. Let me ask you this,
- 46:23Speaker 2: it was funny. Are you more excited that it's Friday
- 46:27Speaker 2: and we're approaching on the weekend? Are you more excited
- 46:30Speaker 2: that we're less than a week away from football? How
- 46:34Speaker 2: are we less than a week? The season starts on Thursday?
- 46:37Speaker 2: And I know that. I know preseason's not sexy and
- 46:40Speaker 2: nobody enjoys watching it. But the fact that we're a
- 46:43Speaker 2: week out, it's pretty awesome that I would happen to
- 46:47Speaker 2: agree with that. That is pretty awesome. I didn't. I
- 46:50Speaker 2: didn't realize that, So okay, good. Yeah, So next Thursday,
- 46:54Speaker 2: we'll have Thursday Night Football? All right? Is that a
- 46:56Speaker 2: part of the Hall of Fame game that they always have?
- 47:00Speaker 2: Oh that's a great question. I bet you it is.
- 47:03Speaker 2: And uh, I don't know if if you saw it
- 47:06Speaker 2: or not? Yeah, because yeah, it will be Okay, Mike, God,
- 47:10Speaker 2: never mind, I'm not excited. Who is it? Go ahead,
- 47:13Speaker 2: tell me quit laughing. Panthers and Cardinals. That's a terrible game, Okay, Yeah,
- 47:19Speaker 2: that's yeah. There there's probably some Pop Warner games. I
- 47:23Speaker 2: would rather watch that. Chris Collins exactly. I don't know
- 47:29Speaker 2: if you saw the video or not, but it was
- 47:31Speaker 2: really cool to see former Saints quarterback Drew Brees call
- 47:35Speaker 2: Sean because you know, Drew Brees has been elected to
- 47:38Speaker 2: the Pro Football Hall of Fame, right yep, and he
- 47:41Speaker 2: called his former coach Sean Payton to ask him to
- 47:46Speaker 2: present him to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Have
- 47:49Speaker 2: you seen that video? I saw a little bit of
- 47:51Speaker 2: Sean Payton talking about Drew Brees yesterday, all right, so
- 47:55Speaker 2: they showed the actual video of Drew Brees facetiming. Now,
- 47:59Speaker 2: a lot of people called out, yeah, well, where did
- 48:00Speaker 2: that canra come from? Well, maybe other people knew about it,
- 48:04Speaker 2: and they were going to just still surprise Sean Payton.
- 48:07Speaker 2: There's still ways to surprise, and I'm sure Drew Brees
- 48:10Speaker 2: wanted to see what other people, mainly Saints fans, wanted
- 48:14Speaker 2: to see what Sean Payton's response would be, and it
- 48:17Speaker 2: was really heartfelt. He got He literally got emotional by
- 48:23Speaker 2: Drew Brees asking him to present him to the Pro
- 48:25Speaker 2: Football Hall. Fay. I thought that was awesome. I mean,
- 48:28Speaker 2: you gotta think what Drew Brees meant to the career
- 48:30Speaker 2: of Sean Payton and vice versa exactly. So they they
- 48:34Speaker 2: were both very beneficial to want to know each other.
- 48:37Speaker 2: It was a it was a cool relationship. By the way,
- 48:39Speaker 2: do you any idea who else is being elected? I
- 48:42Speaker 2: do not remember who it is. So you got Roger Craig,
- 48:45Speaker 2: former running back. Not familiar with Roger Craig. Larry Fitzgerald,
- 48:49Speaker 2: well deserved there, Luke Keegley, hold on, slow down, Larry Fitzgerald.
- 48:53Speaker 2: All right, let's talk about him for a mint. Because
- 48:55Speaker 2: he played for the Cardinals. Correct, he had that long
- 48:58Speaker 2: long hair, right, yeah? Does he still have the long hair?
- 49:02Speaker 2: I would assume so, although I don't know, although Tim
- 49:06Speaker 2: Duncan was bald when he played. Now he has super
- 49:08Speaker 2: long hair, so maybe he cut it up. That is
- 49:10Speaker 2: kind of weird. Did you see the video of him
- 49:12Speaker 2: with his former coach pop uh? Oh? Shoot, what's his name? Greg?
- 49:19Speaker 2: Greg Popovich? And it was that was awesome. It's like
- 49:24Speaker 2: a coach and player goes deeper than just that. It
- 49:28Speaker 2: was the title of it. And it showed him a
- 49:31Speaker 2: Duncan helping Popovich, his former coach, at the Stroke Center
- 49:37Speaker 2: going through the rehab because you know Papa Greg Popovich
- 49:40Speaker 2: had a stroke and I thought Tim Duncan, man, I
- 49:43Speaker 2: have a new respect for you. I loved it that
- 49:47Speaker 2: he was there helping him out because you know, when
- 49:49Speaker 2: I think of Tim Duncan is not his NBA days,
- 49:52Speaker 2: it's when he played at wake Forest and UK beat
- 49:55Speaker 2: them and I think that was ninety six sounds about right,
- 49:59Speaker 2: yeah in this in this, uh, I think that was
- 50:02Speaker 2: like the Elite eight and that got UK after that
- 50:05Speaker 2: win got UK to the final four. It's sweet sixteen
- 50:08Speaker 2: or elite I think it was Elite eight. But anyway,
- 50:10Speaker 2: all right, I'm sorry, go ahead. Who else? Larry Fitzgerald
- 50:12Speaker 2: does still have his long hair, He does still have
- 50:14Speaker 2: his long fit.
- 50:15Speaker 3: Wow.
- 50:16Speaker 2: I got Luke Keiley linebacker from the Panthers while deserved there. Yeah.
- 50:20Speaker 2: And then Adam Pin and Terry kicker for the Colts.
- 50:23Speaker 2: Ah right yeah yeah, I mean who's he Moore remembered
- 50:27Speaker 2: for the Colts. I remember him more for the cold
- 50:30Speaker 2: so do I. Yeah, and he was a great kicker.
- 50:34Speaker 2: But I just I love that kind of stuff. I
- 50:36Speaker 2: do love and enjoy probably the speeches. I think usually
- 50:42Speaker 2: the guys do a lot of great jobs uh at
- 50:48Speaker 2: their speeches, and uh, I wish I could remember some
- 50:52Speaker 2: of them that I really enjoyed. I know there was
- 50:54Speaker 2: a baseball one I really enjoyed, and I can't think
- 50:56Speaker 2: of who it was. But uh, big Poppy. No, yeah,
- 51:00Speaker 2: that's right, because you couldn't understand anything he said. Now
- 51:03Speaker 2: I like him. I like him too. I think there
- 51:06Speaker 2: are so many times where I just do not know
- 51:08Speaker 2: what he's saying. He's a genuine guy. No, he was
- 51:10Speaker 2: the guy that was the actor comedian and then played baseball.
- 51:14Speaker 2: But he's more known for his uh uh being funny.
- 51:19Speaker 2: He was the Milwaukee Brewers play by play guy. See
- 51:24Speaker 2: you can't think of who I'm thinking of, and that's
- 51:26Speaker 2: a council huh no, no, no, no, no, no, this
- 51:29Speaker 2: is this is a guy. He was in uh Major League,
- 51:34Speaker 2: the movie. He was the baseball announcer in Major League. Okay,
- 51:39Speaker 2: don't worry about it. As soon as we say it,
- 51:41Speaker 2: and then you're gonna oh, I didn't realize that. Yeah,
- 51:44Speaker 2: you'll have to go back and watch his speech because
- 51:48Speaker 2: I'm telling you what uh it was. It was really funny.
- 51:53Speaker 2: But uh, anyway, Bob Buker, Oh there you go. Okay, Okay,
- 51:58Speaker 2: if you go back and watch Bob Buker's acceptance speech
- 52:01Speaker 2: into Coopertown. It's you're laughing the entire time. He is
- 52:06Speaker 2: so funny, and I because I grew up with him
- 52:10Speaker 2: and he's just really funny, and I appreciate it. Thank
- 52:13Speaker 2: you Texter in New Albany. You told me Bob Buker,
- 52:17Speaker 2: and I really appreciate that. So all right, let's go
- 52:20Speaker 2: back to some of the texts. Uh, John said, I
- 52:25Speaker 2: hope I also hope that laf Amelia wins. One more thing.
- 52:30Speaker 2: I do my final live rescue rescue exam. What is that?
- 52:36Speaker 2: Excuse me? With my SART team in Evansville, Indiana. CIRT
- 52:41Speaker 2: stands for Community Emergency Response Team. We are the individuals
- 52:46Speaker 2: that go out into your neighborhoods and assess the damages
- 52:50Speaker 2: and look to see if we can rescue and help
- 52:53Speaker 2: others while we wait for first responsors to show up.
- 52:56Speaker 2: If a major disaster were to happen and there was
- 53:00Speaker 2: his other major damage in the city, it might be
- 53:03Speaker 2: a while before some first responders could get to your
- 53:09Speaker 2: home and neighbors, so we are there to help everyone.
- 53:14Speaker 2: Everyone should check it out. Wish me luck everyone there
- 53:18Speaker 2: you go. Huh, Jozz, I didn't know there was such
- 53:22Speaker 2: a thing as if you needed something else to add
- 53:24Speaker 2: onto your resume. That's a good one though. I like that. Yeah,
- 53:27Speaker 2: that would be fun. Did you see the video of
- 53:30Speaker 2: the Amish people that went to the guy in Kentucky
- 53:33Speaker 2: after the tornadoes hit last week, helped clean his place up,
- 53:37Speaker 2: and now we're building him a home. He lost his
- 53:41Speaker 2: home and everything. Hopefully they're cooking for him too, because
- 53:43Speaker 2: that Amish food's good. Where is there the closest Amish
- 53:46Speaker 2: play restaurant? I know there's one. We passed one on
- 53:51Speaker 2: our way to Patoka Lake every time. Oh really, that's
- 53:54Speaker 2: probably an hour and a half from here. I don't
- 53:55Speaker 2: have too far. I don't know if there's one closer
- 53:57Speaker 2: or not. That's a shame, because you're right, take your boat,
- 54:00Speaker 2: take go to Potoco one weekend. Take your boat stop
- 54:03Speaker 2: in there. It's awesome, really really really good. Okay, Yeah,
- 54:06Speaker 2: because here's believe it or not, there's one south of
- 54:09Speaker 2: Saint Petersburg, down around the Bradenton area that we like
- 54:13Speaker 2: to go to and they always have homemade you name it,
- 54:16Speaker 2: and it's just it's unfreaking believable because you wouldn't think
- 54:19Speaker 2: Amish would be down there in Florida. You think of
- 54:22Speaker 2: him kind of in the Midwest is where I think
- 54:24Speaker 2: of Uh, does look like there's I'll do some digging,
- 54:32Speaker 2: one texter said. J Bett also said he was looking
- 54:34Speaker 2: into a GM for basketball. Sounds like that will happen.
- 54:38Speaker 2: What do you think about that, because that's one of
- 54:40Speaker 2: those things that the Farmer leaders said it would make
- 54:45Speaker 2: fun of. I like that idea. I think what will
- 54:49Speaker 2: happen here is that the basketball program will see that ooh,
- 54:54Speaker 2: the football program had a pretty successful recruiting year, and
- 54:58Speaker 2: maybe there is something to this, gentleman, and that's your thing.
- 55:01Speaker 2: And I love the fact that Jay Batt is now
- 55:04Speaker 2: thinking differently than the other leadership. I don't know why
- 55:12Speaker 2: you wouldn't have a GM in every sport. I say,
- 55:14Speaker 2: I'm with you. I'm absolutely with you. Even though nickmn
- 55:18Speaker 2: Jones had a great offseason and I hope it turns
- 55:22Speaker 2: out to be a great season for them next year.
- 55:25Speaker 2: But man, he is he is doing really well now. Granted,
- 55:28Speaker 2: you know, we talked about how they're tenth in the
- 55:31Speaker 2: country and recruiting this year, but they're eighth already in
- 55:35Speaker 2: the SEC. I mean they're halfway down, so it's just
- 55:39Speaker 2: one of those things. But I'm with you. I don't
- 55:41Speaker 2: see why you wouldn't have that either. Patrick texted out,
- 55:47Speaker 2: big bite equal might be cancer? What is that something
- 55:54Speaker 2: Mosquitoes will tell you? Wait? Hold on? What now? You got? Justin?
- 55:59Speaker 2: All scared? Patrick?
- 56:00Speaker 3: Who?
- 56:01Speaker 2: Patrick sent this? Yes, big bite equals might be camper.
- 56:07Speaker 2: I hope that's not the case. Is that true? Though? Also, Michael,
- 56:12Speaker 2: you can't get cancer from Mosquitos? Can you get West Nile?
- 56:16Speaker 2: Is it an indicator that you might have cancer? I
- 56:19Speaker 2: don't think. Listen, We're not gonna sit here and Diagno,
- 56:22Speaker 2: don't you start fighting out Patrick, My gosh, don't you
- 56:25Speaker 2: start freaking Also, Michael, what are your thoughts about Kurt
- 56:28Speaker 2: Signetti's comments? Justin already gave his opinion on the show. Michael, what,
- 56:37Speaker 2: I'm curious as well? Patrick? Okay, all right, then we're
- 56:47Speaker 2: I don't even remember what the comments were. Sure you
- 56:53Speaker 2: want me to read it. When we don't run a
- 56:56Speaker 2: hype machine up here in the Midwest, we believe everything
- 56:59Speaker 2: is earned, not given. When we fall short, we say
- 57:05Speaker 2: we fall short. When we don't win, we don't cry
- 57:10Speaker 2: a river. We don't complain. That's why we're the best.
- 57:20Speaker 2: What a shot? What a shot? I heard this in
- 57:23Speaker 2: real time yesterday, and did you really I stood up
- 57:26Speaker 2: out of my recliner and I just fist pumped. I
- 57:28Speaker 2: was like, oh, yeah, yeah, Okay, Well I think he's
- 57:33Speaker 2: forgetting where he came from. Yeah, but I mean it
- 57:39Speaker 2: is funny how all of a sudden we're here in
- 57:41Speaker 2: the middle. He's acting like he's been in the Midwest
- 57:44Speaker 2: for fifty years. And how long has he been in Indiana?
- 57:48Speaker 3: Oh?
- 57:49Speaker 2: Yeah, two years? And he's acting like this he's bought
- 57:53Speaker 2: in baby company. Mayl. That was almost, to me a
- 57:57Speaker 2: bit of a clown comment. I mean, you can say
- 58:00Speaker 2: whatever you want to say. I'm getting to the point
- 58:03Speaker 2: where why are we is the SEC living in the
- 58:08Speaker 2: heads of all these Big ten coaches? Because I'll fully
- 58:11Speaker 2: a bit, hold on, hold on, I know, I don't.
- 58:15Speaker 2: I think it's the Big ten, And honestly, Big Ten
- 58:20Speaker 2: right now is the best football conference the last two years? Three?
- 58:25Speaker 2: Is it? Three? Okay? Oh that's right. Indiana one last year?
- 58:30Speaker 2: Who won the year before it was Ohio State, I believe,
- 58:33Speaker 2: and then Michigan before that. Yeah, so you're right, three years.
- 58:37Speaker 2: Thank you for correcting me. The last three years. You
- 58:40Speaker 2: can't tell me the SEC is better. And I'm a
- 58:44Speaker 2: SEC company man, you know that, of all people justin
- 58:48Speaker 2: I am an SEC. But no, the Big Ten is better.
- 58:52Speaker 2: But it is funny these coaches are taking shots. Now.
- 58:57Speaker 2: I don't count drink wits. Okay, he's a clown anyway.
- 59:01Speaker 2: I don't even want him in the SEC. He took
- 59:04Speaker 2: a shot, but nobody else has. If I remember correctly,
- 59:08Speaker 2: at the SEC football media days, you got the Illinois
- 59:10Speaker 2: coach coach saying something, You got the Indiana coach saying something.
- 59:14Speaker 2: Who else said something? Because there's there was a third
- 59:17Speaker 2: one that said something about the SEC. It's like, why
- 59:20Speaker 2: does the SEC live in their heads? You are the
- 59:23Speaker 2: best football conference in the country the last three years.
- 59:28Speaker 2: You don't need to talk about any that's looking down.
- 59:31Speaker 2: You only look up. I honestly think it's fair to
- 59:34Speaker 2: say that both conferences live in both conferences because you
- 59:39Speaker 2: you do. You get comments from SEC coach. I don't
- 59:42Speaker 2: ever consider think about the Big Ten because I think
- 59:46Speaker 2: we're equals. Just because you don't doesn't mean others don't.
- 59:49Speaker 2: I just feel like, now Big twelve, yeah, but you don't.
- 59:53Speaker 2: You don't cut down. You always cut up, and to me,
- 59:58Speaker 2: it's like the Big ten is cut down. You're the
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: best conference right now. You shouldn't be saying anything about
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: any other conference now. Yeah. In his breakaway with the
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: media members after his time on the podium, he was
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: basically asked about it again and he was, oh boy.
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: He was very complimentary towards the SEC, said basically, there's
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: there's no question about it. Big ten and SEC or
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: the best two conferences and it's not even close. So yeah,
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: I agree with that. Kind of changed his tone a
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: little bit with the breakaways. But do you feel like,
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: do you feel like he might have thought maybe I
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: went a little overboard? No? Really, no, he that was
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: that's the way you indicated though by what you just said,
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: that's an indication that he believes maybe I went a
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: little too far. His little his smirk at the end
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: of that, AHA told me that was about as intentional
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: as oh okay, all right. He was having fun. I think, yeah,
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: because because that's that's something that the defending national championship
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: coach should never do. You don't go out and make
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: fun of other teams. You don't go out and make
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: fun of other conferences. You act professional, you support your
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: team and done. But according to him, they are not
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: defending champions because this is just the start of a
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: new year. That's his mindset. He is. He has trained
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: his brain and his all of his staff's brain and
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: the players that last year's championship didn't even happen. They're
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: not defending champions That's that's just why you just back
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: to work, get get better every single day. I don't
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: agree with that mentality. Why another title? You know why?
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: Here's why you're a championship team. You think like a
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: championship team. You remember the stupid sign that Notre Dame
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: has win like a champion. That's the mindset you should have,
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: and Indiana should have that mindset. I don't. I couldn't
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: disagree with him more. Well, I guess you have to
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: just go watch it then, because it may be I'm
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: not explaining it correctly, but it's it's like the way
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: Kurt Signetti operates and why he's able to have so
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: so much success year in and year out, no matter
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: where he's at. Yeah, is we're just turning the page. Man.
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: Every day is an opportunity to get a little bit
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: better and a little bit better and a little bit better.
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: And that's basically what he was saying yesterday. He's he
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: doesn't even he hasn't thought about the championship, he said.
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: He said, he took a day or two to revel
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: in it and realize what they've done. And sometimes he'll
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: think about it if somebody stops him on the street
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: or whatever and mentioned something. But other than that, it's
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: it's back to work, put your head down, get a
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: little better today. So you're telling me he goes home
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: and he doesn't think about that championship and national title
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: that he won last year. You're telling me nothing. It's
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: not even as there's no satisfaction there. All that's out
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: the door. He's human that that's not he will he
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: will celebrate all his accomplishments when he retires. But he
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: is not the type of guy that's gonna do that
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: right now. First of all, First of all, when he's
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: at Homie's sleeping because he's a psycho and he spends
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: eighteen eighteen hours a day in his office watching film. Yeah,
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: so's he said, he hasn't even seen the team this summer.
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: How wild, here we go and we got another John
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: Calipari on our hands. He I mean, he just lets
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: his coaching staff do all the coaching in the summer
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: while he's just taken in film because he said he
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: wants to know every single opponent like the back of
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: his hand. That's a guy that loves what he does.
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: He loves he has an absolute addiction. Just like with me.
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: I can go home and it drives my wife up
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: the wall. I'll go home and watch horse racing all
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: day long. That's how he is with film because I
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: love that. Yeah, he loves film. I am the same way.
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: I want to look up who owns that horse, what
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: does that horse him? What did he do at auction?
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: What does the workouts look? I look up everything because
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: I haven't. Kurt Zignetti is the exact same way. One
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: Texter texted in, Oh no, we got to take a break,
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: so I'll get to your text. And I appreciate all
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: the texts that are coming in, because you know, was
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: saying to you during break, it just seems like we're
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: not getting as many texts were loading it up to that,
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: and all of a sudden, we're loading it up, and
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: I appreciate that. So stay right there, keep them coming
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: in follow two four one four, fourteen fifty on the
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: Whiskey Thief text line, you don't need a pad from me.
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: You're hearing it from Michael Bennett Whiskey Thief. I love
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: those guys. Stay right there. More just cats coming up.
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: I'm dropping Black and Black. Just got my last Blacks
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: trains coming off the track. I'll ask them to row.
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: You're rocking to this one? It was this okay? Yeah,
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: you think they'll go down as their most famous act
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: of when they were in South America. You guys want
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: to rock or do you want to just leave? And
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: then they walk off the stage. Oh you don't know that,
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: thout nickelback walking off the stage only doing like three
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: songs in their set no wonder Oh yeah, absolutely, uh
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: got it. See all right, here's one right here. I
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: haven't read. Now I'll do it right. Big Blue Rando, sir,
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: thanks again for the shout on yesterday's show. Jay thought
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: it was the coolest thing. Huge smell on my face.
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: So I don't I don't remember Big Blue Rando, but
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: I'm gonna say your name again. So they go blue,
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: Big Blue Random. Yeah. John Geary, Hey, Michael John? Here?
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: Oh is this the John? Oh? This is on Twitter. Okay, okay,
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: I'll read this off air because it's more of an
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: off air type thing. Forty eight handle, he said. So
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: Churchill has come up with another what is this we
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: apportionment of space to create another special area which will
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: come at a jacked up price that will have to
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: be purchased as a package for with the Oaks. Their
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: main objective remains to squeeze every last egg out of
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: that golden goose called the Kentucky Derby. The answer is yes,
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: you are correct because and here's the problem, and this
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: is their opportunity, which they're extremely successful. They are a
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: publicly run company and they have a fidiciary response ability
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: to make certain it's shareholders get every ounce of the
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: fans' money. So yes, that is their responsibility. That is
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: the responsibility of a publicly owned company. So as much
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: as it upsets you forty eight handley, which I get,
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: and as much as it upsets all the people here
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: in the city of Louisville, that's their job. So I
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: can't sit here and blame my friend Bill Carstangan. He
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: is supposed to make certain his company makes money. So
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: and those are the two days they make the most money.
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: So anyway, But I get it, I really do. One
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: person texted in best Colts Kicker was Mike vander Jet,
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: even if he did get all liquered up one time.
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: And do you even know who Bob vander Jet is? No?
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: I have.
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: Now I want to know who he is, because evidently
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: Bob got liquored up. Did he get liquored up and
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: then go to the stadium and kick the field goals
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: or did he miss the field goal? Looks like he
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: was their kicker before Vinitary. Oh he was. He kicked
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: from two thousand or from ninety eight to two thousand
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: and five. I love this text, just the fact that
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: he throws them under the bus. My best Colts kicker
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: was Bob vander Jet, even if he got did get
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: all liquored up one time. He criticized his He criticized
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: Peyton Manning and Tony Duney. You've got to be getting
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: in a press two post iconic people in Coat's legacy.
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: He he criticized this, He said they were not fiery leaders.
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, well all right, honestly, and then Peyton responded,
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: we're talking about our idiot kicker who got liquored up
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: and ran his mouth. That's good. I didn't know about him.
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: That is awesome. I love the story. But he is
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: right about Tony Dungeee, I mean a great coach and listen,
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: what a great person. I could never say anything negative
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: about Tony Dungee except he doesn't get fired up. No,
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: and in football, don't you want a coach that gets
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: fired up? But for sure, yeah, I mean I think
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: a Harball. I mean, that's the first one that comes
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: to mind. I think of probably who else is one
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: that gets really fired up. Tony Dungee is not that guy,
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: Andy Andy what's his name? And Andy Reid is definitely
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: one of those guys that gets fired up.
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: God.
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: Just the response at Peyton Manning game, Thank you for
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: that reach in history right there, Texter. That made me laugh.
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: Bob Buker also had a TV show called Mister Beltanere.
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: That's right. I forgot about that, Bob Buker. If you
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: want to go back and laugh, go back and watch
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: the old Johnny Carson Show with Bob Buker. There you
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: can watch just his little segment. You'll be laughing really hard, Okay,
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: just to let you know, and then go watch the
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: Asian Horse racing, okay, because that's gonna make you that's
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: gonna make you laugh as well. Oh my gosh, one
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: test texter said, uh thoughts on compared to Manning, Brady,
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: far Rogers, Warner, et cetera. What you gotta read that?
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: All right? By the way, where does Drew Okay, I'm
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: sorry I missed it. Where does Drew Brees rank out
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: of all QB greats from two thousand till today compared
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: to Manning, Brady, far Or as I like to say, Farvy, Rogers,
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: and Warner. My answer is easy, Drew Brees is last
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: out of those guys. Yeah. See, yes, he's a pretty guy.
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: Suck it. Come on, now, take that out of it
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: all because because honestly, all right, let's go through this,
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: because I don't think Drew Brees is one of the
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: top two or three. I put him three. I put
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: Brady really yep, I put him three. I disagree Brady Manning, breeze,
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: Brady Manning, Breeze, Barv Rogers, warn Yeah, that's the order.
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: Obum hmm, man, I'm putting Brady Manning far maybe some
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: of the some of the stuff that Brett Farve's dealt
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: with since he retired has kind of left a stain
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: on me and what he was able to do in
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: his career. So admittedly I am working talking football. I know,
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: I know, and admittedly I am looking at you're a professional. Well,
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: I mean, if you want to like you hate to,
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: hear said, if you want to be honest, we were
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: just talking about that. Nobody. My wife tells me to
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: stop saying that because then she think, Michael Winnill, when
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: else are you lying to me? Well, if you want
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: me to be honest, That's how I responded to her.
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: I was laughing. She didn't think it was funny. Probably not. No,
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: she did not think I was funny at that time.
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: But I look at this and I mean, it's it's
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: it's definitely Tom Brady Peyton Manning, which just it kills
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: me to say because he went to Tennessee. But I'm
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: being honest because he went. Uh he was a great quarterback,
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: was awesome. Uh, but where's Eli Manning not in there?
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: I know he won super I know, but it's for me.
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: It's not all about the rings. I've always been that way, okay, Uh,
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: but no, it's Brady Manning far uh. And then I'm
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: probably gonna put uh Drew Brees Rogers, Kurt Warner, you
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: were giving me crap for putting Drew Brees three, and
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: you're gonna throw him at four. Yeah, get out of here. Yeah, hypocrite. Well,
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: because he didn't far is behead of him. There's no
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: way you put no, I'm from far behind him. I'm
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: fine with you having that mindset, but don't give me
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: all this crap for throwing him at number three and
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: then you put him a number four. Rogers. I throw
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: Rogers out of Kurt Warner. I was a big fan
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: of Yeah, and you're probably a big fan of Rogers.
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: Not really, Oh really, anybody with the last name Rogers.
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: You just don't like, do you? You're kidding me? We
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: talked about earlier this week Rogers. Come on, I can't
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: think of who he talked about. Oh stop it. I
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: love Paul Roger we go and you can't stand the guy.
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: That's not true at all. That is true, unbelievable. I
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: love giving you a hard time when nobody knows what
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: we're talking about. I meant to buy my text that
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: you look up stuff on the internet. What Oh, that's
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: what he meant by the big bite equals might be cancer. Yeah.
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: Oh oh, because let me tell you right now. Patrick,
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: as soon as I read that, mister, you know, miss
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: you're justin over here, started freaking out and trying to
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: Oh you, I saw it in your face. You were
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: freaking out. Probably what's going on here? I've probably got
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: five types of cancer at this Okay, Oh my gosh,
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: don't say that. One TEXTA said, I get the whole
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: Noah and Morton showing up being a disappointment. It would
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: be like Scoots showing up instead of Michael Bennett or
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: John Wong for being a fan of the station. This
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: text line has not falling short today. Oh my gosh. See,
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: I think people would mean more excited to see you
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: than they would be me. And I mean that sincerely.
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: I think that would vary with who. No, No, I
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: think more people would be more excited about you than me.
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: I bet we'd be. No, You're everybody's lovable, you know
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: Scoot sunrise with Scoots No, No, I disagree.
- 1:14:56Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: Bob Buker has a statue of himself. Patrick said, huh
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: where the Brewers play. That's pretty cool. That was built
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: before he passed. Also, when people look up whatever they
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: have wrong medically, it usually comes up with a terminal diagnosis.
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: That's so true. The reason is how the search engines
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: prioritize information. Algorithms are designed to prioritize completeness and relevance,
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: since cancer has the most extensive documentation, research and user engagement.
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: Just kid clicks. That does make sense. I had no idea, Patrick,
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: Thank you very much. Dundee is a Christian. I think
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: Dundee I think he means gunji. Oh yeah, yeah, he
- 1:15:45Speaker 2: is a devout one at that. My dad heard him
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: speak and said he was probably one of the best
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: speakers he ever heard speak. I'll take Phil Simms over
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: Eli and in breeze Ooh didn't we We had sims on,
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: didn't we. Yeah, And he's offered to come back on
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: that was great in it. I need to have him
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: come back, all right, So I'll tell you why. I'll
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: look into reaching out to Phil and see if he'll
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: come on next week or the week after, right, all right,
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: so we'll well, yeah, that'll be that will be a
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: lot of fun. Uh UFL announced yesterday the plan to
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: make uh out of the two markets to get to
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: move out out to markets Birmingham and Houston League plans
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: to expand the ten teams by twenty eight and twelve
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: teams by thirty. I saw that and I thought, first
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: thing came to my mind, is this league going to survive?
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: The first thing that came to my mind was why? Why? Yeah?
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: I mean you're Birmingham has been a staple in this
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: league since its inception, I believe, And if your plan
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: is to really expand up to ten or twelve teams,
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: why are we getting rid of two teams? Like what
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: addition by subtraction? But in this case, it just doesn't
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: make sense. Well, were they not well attended the games.
- 1:17:07Speaker 3: That?
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: I don't know? Yeah, I mean maybe I remember watching
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: didn't Louisville play Birmingham down in Birmingham And I remember
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: watching it? If I remember correctly, if my memory serves
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: me right, there weren't many people there. Maybe that's what
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: it is. Maybe they just weren't selling enough tickets. So
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: which makes more sense? I mean, Houston I think makes
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: sense because there's a lot. There's a lot to do
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: in Houston. As someone who's never been to just a
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: horrible city, there are all kinds of stuff to do though,
- 1:17:37Speaker 2: and especially in terms of sports, yeah, so I bet
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: they weren't heavily. Yeah, they got they got everything. I
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: mean as far as all the major sports. Birmingham kind
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: of surprised that they wouldn't because they're big football town.
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: I would have thought they kept them. Yeah, I just
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: I never thought it would survive in Louisville and it's been.
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: Have they been the most successful franchise in this league? Yeah,
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: they're one for one. Well no, I don't mean by
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: that as far as the fan support. I would love
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: to see what the ticket sales are between the franchises.
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: I don't know if they'd share that or not, but
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: uh uh. Anyway, all right, we gotta take our last break.
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: When we come back there you go, Hi, you like that?
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: What is the State of New Jersey doing to help
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: the n I L. We'll talk about that because this
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: seems to be on the edge and very controversial. That
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: needs to be talked about. So stay right there. One
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: more segment on this Friday, just the Cat's coming out.
- 1:18:53Speaker 3: So weird a Sunday underupt.
- 1:19:41Speaker 2: I'm sorry, you could play that whole song and I
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: would be happy. I don't have to say a word.
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: I just love listening to that song, right, there Wednesday night,
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: UH in Chicago. The band the Smashing Pumpkins Pumpkins was there,
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: UH in a concert, and I don't know if you've
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: seen this or not, but they had a special guest
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: singer come out with them and it was the one
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: and only Greg Brady. I don't know his real name,
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: but the actor that played Greg Brady from The Brady Bunch.
- 1:20:13Speaker 2: And they started playing an iconic song that the Brady
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: Butch sang back in the day on their show called
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: It's a Sunshine Day and he's singing it as the
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: Smashing bump Up. I'm gonna say Pumpkins Pumpkins are playing
- 1:20:27Speaker 2: the song. It's the wildest video I've ever seen. It's like,
- 1:20:31Speaker 2: you know, Smashing Pumpkins. I call them kind of a
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: rock alternative. They're a great band. I've always been a
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: big fan, but for them to have Greg Brady come
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: out and play this cheesy song might be might have
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: been one of the coolest things seen. And then the
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: video guy that was taking this video right down just
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: a few seats from him. This is what's so wild
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: and weird about this video. I mean it's almost apocalyptic.
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: Flavor Flave was there rocking with them. You have the clock.
- 1:21:02Speaker 2: I didn't see the clock. I don't know what, but
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: this is like, what's going on here? You got Greg
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: Brady singing his song with the Smashing Pumpkins and Flavor
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: Flave out in the audience rocking to it. It's just
- 1:21:15Speaker 2: a crazy thing. By the way. I don't know if
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: you saw it or not, but Flavor Flame's kind of everywhere.
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: Is he He was up at Saratoga Springs a week
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: ago last Saturday. Is he in the horse game. He's
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: getting into the horse game evidently. And he got to
- 1:21:28Speaker 2: meet Cherie Devout Okay, yeah, and gave her a big hug.
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: It's so nice to meet you, Shre, he called her Sherry.
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: Clearly he's not really big in the game. But I
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: mean that is the funniest thing, though, because you know,
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: I got to meet Greg Brady about five or six
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: years ago. He was here in town over at the
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: other studio, the station I used to work at, and
- 1:21:53Speaker 2: Tony Venetti said, Michael, you come meet this. I got
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: my picture with him and it was really nice.
- 1:22:00Speaker 3: Ah.
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: But it's just like this is crazy to see. But
- 1:22:04Speaker 2: I can't tell you the last I can't tell you
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: a single song flavor flav is done. I just know
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: his name, yea, and yet he's everywhere. He did call
- 1:22:14Speaker 2: to the riders up a week ago Saturday. I mean
- 1:22:18Speaker 2: forty eight. Handle will tell me, because you know forty
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: eight handily as much as I doubted him in the beginning.
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: He knows horse racing. Oh yeah, the dude knows it.
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: And he'll probably know what the race was that happened
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: up at Saratoga Springs. No his last Saturday it happened.
- 1:22:33Speaker 2: But anyway, Jim Dandy, that's right. It was a tank.
- 1:22:37Speaker 2: It was a Jim Dandy. He was up there for
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: the Jim Dandy, sleeping on my horse. Now there you go.
- 1:22:41Speaker 2: And so he called the riders up for the Jim Dandy.
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: All right, let's talk. Well, let me get to this
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: the Jim Dandy, because I just threw that out. I
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: think it was the Jim Dandy. Yes, this textter is
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: Texas twice and I apologize it wasn't intentional, but I'll
- 1:22:58Speaker 2: read it right now because I'm getting a bunch of
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: texts today and I'm trying to get through all of them. Uh,
- 1:23:02Speaker 2: Paige Bukers and TMU Barbie what Okay? Well, it says Buker.
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: Oh it is okay, well tough, it's gonna be Buker
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: and TMU Barbie betting on themselves should be proof that
- 1:23:15Speaker 2: the w NBA is a thriving organization, in extremely profitable
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: and shows that players are indeed paid fairly. I agree.
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: Did you see what with all this? No? I didn't
- 1:23:28Speaker 2: see anything. So Page, I hate to tell you, I
- 1:23:30Speaker 2: don't pay attention to the w NBA. So Page, Beckers
- 1:23:33Speaker 2: and angel Rees supposedly bet four hundred dollars against each
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: other on a head head to head game. Oh wow,
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: which they're not going to get in trouble for it,
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: but it is why not w NBA rules? But I don't.
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: I don't have a problem with that. I do, do you?
- 1:23:49Speaker 2: If you want to keep it completely fair? Uh? Where where?
- 1:23:53Speaker 3: Uh?
- 1:23:53Speaker 2: Players are getting banned from sports? Players are getting banned
- 1:23:58Speaker 2: from games. Yes, they should be banned, they should be penalized,
- 1:24:02Speaker 2: they should be fine, they should be everything. I just
- 1:24:04Speaker 2: I don't agree with that. Like it. I don't know how.
- 1:24:06Speaker 2: I mean. You want to keep it fair. Women's sports
- 1:24:09Speaker 2: and men's sports the exact same, then they need to
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: be treated the exact same way men would be treated
- 1:24:15Speaker 2: in their perspective. I am saying, I personally am saying,
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: just across the landscape of sports, I don't. I don't
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: care if it's men or women that that part doesn't
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: matter to me one bit. But if Baker Mayfield is
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: getting set to play the Chiefs and wants to have
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: a thousand dollars bet with Patrick Mahomes on who wins
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: the game, I don't, I don't. That doesn't bother me
- 1:24:34Speaker 2: at all. And I don't think and I don't think
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: that ruins the integrity of the game in any shape
- 1:24:39Speaker 2: or for its just it's one more step into gambling.
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: It's gambling. No, I understand that, but I don't. I don't.
- 1:24:46Speaker 2: That's specific situation. I don't understand how that's wrong. Okay,
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: all right, then, well that's because you're a gambler, like
- 1:24:52Speaker 2: the Pete Rose situation. Yeah that was wrong. Because you're
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: a manager, you have control over the game. But if
- 1:24:58Speaker 2: you're a player, you're going is to win the game anyway.
- 1:25:01Speaker 2: So is he a player? Play up? So if you
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: if you got money on the line, that I don't care. Okay,
- 1:25:07Speaker 2: how I feel? Well? Uh, well, I bet the PGA
- 1:25:11Speaker 2: guys bet on each other. Yeah, but that that's I
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: bet they're out there gambling. Uh I, I guarantee you
- 1:25:17Speaker 2: there Tiger Woods is out there gambling with whoever he's
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: playing with that day. Let's play for some money today
- 1:25:24Speaker 2: like on the tour or is that just a friendly round? Uh? No,
- 1:25:27Speaker 2: between each other? Yeah, they can't do that. Okay, So
- 1:25:31Speaker 2: if they can, they do it, can they? Why can
- 1:25:33Speaker 2: they do? In the n b W n b A again,
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: there you go, it's illegal. It's illegal. My point. Oh,
- 1:25:40Speaker 2: by the way, Jim Dandy is this Saturday? It was
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: not they, it was something else. It was a big race,
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: honorable miss. No, I wouldn't it. It was a big
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: race though, But don't worry about it. You can stop
- 1:25:51Speaker 2: paying attention to that. Pay attention to me. No.
- 1:25:55Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: The state of New Jersey are you ready for this?
- 1:25:58Speaker 2: Is now finding loops and getting creative to pay for
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: a n i L deal at the one and only
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: Rutgers Uh exactly, redcash. But that was a pretty good
- 1:26:13Speaker 2: invitation right there.
- 1:26:14Speaker 3: For me.
- 1:26:15Speaker 2: It was totally unintentional, the state's budget and using taxpayer
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: money to help with their ni L. So here's what
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: they're doing. The n CBLA has been very specific about
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: uh this, saying states can't directly pay n i L deals.
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: So New Jersey lawmakers have done this. They are now
- 1:26:36Speaker 2: calling it in this here's what they've given. They claim
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: it is under events, attraction and marketing, and they are
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: now giving and it's very specific that it goes to
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: Rutgers nil and they're fully admitting this is this fair
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: and this is only opening the door for other states
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: to do the exact same. Oh, I've already got my
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: wheels turned. If we're gonna do this and allow this
- 1:27:08Speaker 2: sort of thing. You all know how I feel about
- 1:27:12Speaker 2: the the RiverLink system and all that freak. But if
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: a portion of that my money that I'm giving RiverLink
- 1:27:22Speaker 2: goes to Indiana n i L bill, then that changes
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: my mind the completely about RiverLink. You kidding me. I'm
- 1:27:31Speaker 2: totally fine with tolls if it if it goes and
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: kicks back in. And on top of that, what that's
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: gonna do is none of that money is gonna go
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: to Kentucky because they wanted to end the tolls, and
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: the Kentucky residents are gonna get so pissed off that
- 1:27:47Speaker 2: that money's going to Indiana n I L. That the
- 1:27:50Speaker 2: tolls will be abolished. That's how we do it. That's
- 1:27:52Speaker 2: how we abolish RiverLink. I'm curious. I got the I
- 1:27:57Speaker 2: gotta figured out. Okay, well, I'm pumped. No more tolls
- 1:28:02Speaker 2: bebe well, I'm telling you right now, I'm trying to
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: figure out right now what state has the most tolls
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: and who could benefit from this the most. Florida exactly.
- 1:28:12Speaker 2: You just nailed it right there, to in Florida, thirty
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: in Orlando a lot. Florida and the United States, followed
- 1:28:17Speaker 2: closely by Oklahoma and New York. Florida contains over six
- 1:28:21Speaker 2: hundred and fifty to seven hundred and ten miles of
- 1:28:24Speaker 2: toll highways. That's insane. So can you imagine if if
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: they do your idea, that means it's going to be
- 1:28:31Speaker 2: beneficial to Miami, Florida and Florida State. Yeah, I'm fine,
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: I know I think it's a so but all you're
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: gonna do is help Indiana, Purdue and Notre Dame. Purdue
- 1:28:43Speaker 2: needs all the help they can get. Man, clearly they do.
- 1:28:46Speaker 2: I wonder how much they wish they could get Jeff
- 1:28:48Speaker 2: Brown back. But uh man, I hate that idea. I
- 1:28:53Speaker 2: don't like Yeah. Absolutely, because you said Kentucky's not gonna
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: benefit from because Kentucky wanted to in the tolls. This
- 1:28:59Speaker 2: is all it's want Kentucky to end the tall well exactly.
- 1:29:03Speaker 2: So it's only gonna be a thing for a year
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: until Kentucky residents get mad enough to do something about it. Yeah,
- 1:29:08Speaker 2: and then then, like I said, RiverLink will be abolished.
- 1:29:12Speaker 2: Sounds like a great plan. Well, I don't like what
- 1:29:15Speaker 2: New Jersey's doing and how blatant they're being about this
- 1:29:19Speaker 2: that uh, they're gonna give this money to Rutgers because
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: you know it's opening the door for everybody else. Okay, Well,
- 1:29:24Speaker 2: if they're doing this, and guess what events an attraction
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: here we come and marketing for the state of Tennessee, Alabama,
- 1:29:30Speaker 2: Georgia there, and it's not going to be five million dollars,
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: it's going to be ten, fifteen to twenty twenty five
- 1:29:37Speaker 2: thirty million dollars. Isn't this what you should be trying
- 1:29:39Speaker 2: to do? Invent new ways to get nil because the
- 1:29:42Speaker 2: NC DOUBA has shown that they're not gonna do anything.
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: Nor if you don't like it, and you don't you
- 1:29:47Speaker 2: don't want New Jersey to do this, then do something
- 1:29:49Speaker 2: about in NC double A. Oh wait, you're not going
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: to They're going to go after a player at the
- 1:29:54Speaker 2: University of Tennessee that paid two hundred and forty seven
- 1:29:56Speaker 2: dollars for a plane ticket, which is the dumbest thing
- 1:29:59Speaker 2: in the world. Seriously, you need to sit out two
- 1:30:03Speaker 2: games because of that less than five hundred dollars plane ticket? Really,
- 1:30:08Speaker 2: and then you're gonna let New Jersey get away with
- 1:30:10Speaker 2: us anyway. Texters says came across a random toll and nowhere,
- 1:30:13Speaker 2: Oklahoma and was so confused. That's what they charge, right,
- 1:30:18Speaker 2: charge it when you get into Lexington. You got to
- 1:30:21Speaker 2: pay a toll to get into Lexington, Kentucky. A told
- 1:30:24Speaker 2: to get into Keenland. Ever, they'll tell everything. Mm hmm,
- 1:30:28Speaker 2: oh my gosh. By the way, Cam Cam Williams states
- 1:30:33Speaker 2: that his foot procedure was for cleanup from the initial procedure.
- 1:30:38Speaker 2: That's what I assumed, which will help guarantee that he
- 1:30:41Speaker 2: will be on the floor in a timely manner, but
- 1:30:44Speaker 2: also help him stay there. My question is, can't they
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: just do the procedure right the first time and not
- 1:30:51Speaker 2: have to rely on clean up the second time, because
- 1:30:53Speaker 2: you know you've had Cam Williams and JQ both say
- 1:30:57Speaker 2: they had cleanup procedures. I mean, aren't aren't every isn't
- 1:31:01Speaker 2: every human body different? Don't they all heal different? I guess,
- 1:31:04Speaker 2: but that seems awfully question well when you have two
- 1:31:07Speaker 2: basketball players. I don't know if the procedure was done
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: by the same person or not, but they both had
- 1:31:12Speaker 2: to go do cleanup work to follow up their initial procedure.
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: I mean it is a little weird. Yeah. By the way,
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: forty eight Handily said, I appreciate that, Michael I spent
- 1:31:23Speaker 2: a lot of time and energy crafting my trade. I
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: bet you did. And forty eight Handley, I bet you
- 1:31:29Speaker 2: were addicted to that trade and that's why you loved
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: it so much, because that was your thing. But yeah,
- 1:31:33Speaker 2: you know horse racing, and I'll fully admit I want
- 1:31:36Speaker 2: to say that. I don't want to say it was
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: similar to you, like that was his dad's thing. It was, well,
- 1:31:41Speaker 2: this wasn't my dad's. That's true. Your dad was in healthcare,
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: that's true. Yeah, no, no, no, but no, it's I'd
- 1:31:50Speaker 2: love to know my because my two mentors were my
- 1:31:53Speaker 2: dad and my uncle. They're the brothers and h both
- 1:31:58Speaker 2: of them were from the mid Month. Yes, absolutely, bothly
- 1:32:02Speaker 2: immensely successful, and I've always wondered, all right, we hadn't
- 1:32:05Speaker 2: even talked about lo Familia. Gee, we don't need to
- 1:32:08Speaker 2: loaf Familia is gonna win it. I don't even know
- 1:32:11Speaker 2: that it's gonna be even particularly close. Really, I'm looking
- 1:32:14Speaker 2: for a repeat of Jayhawks from the other night. They're
- 1:32:17Speaker 2: just they're locked and loaded. Archie's gonna go out and
- 1:32:20Speaker 2: get revenge against his old team, and I think they
- 1:32:22Speaker 2: run away with it. Well, did you see where this
- 1:32:24Speaker 2: company is based in Kentucky?
- 1:32:25Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:32:26Speaker 2: How crazy is that? Lot on the line for I
- 1:32:29Speaker 2: didn't realize that that there's a player that's from Bowling
- 1:32:32Speaker 2: Green on that team on Davis Steel. There's another player
- 1:32:35Speaker 2: that played for Bellerman and Uh, Anyway, I can't believe
- 1:32:40Speaker 2: I just screwed up and didn't even talk about Lofa MI. No,
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: there's nothing to talk about. They're gonna roll. You're predicting
- 1:32:45Speaker 2: a win, which I'm gonna say now because of that,
- 1:32:48Speaker 2: UH is gonna lose the title game and we're all
- 1:32:51Speaker 2: gonna blame and put a multiple tolls out for Justin Kalin. Okay,
- 1:32:55Speaker 2: turns out you're gonna be wrong again, mister Bennett. I
- 1:32:57Speaker 2: hope so. I hope so, but I uh, I think
- 1:33:00Speaker 2: it's gonna be a fun game. One o'clock and Archie
- 1:33:03Speaker 2: Goodwin's asking for everybody to come to this game, which
- 1:33:05Speaker 2: I think they will. I think they'll pack the house
- 1:33:08Speaker 2: one o'clock Monday on the Fox Ton for Sunday. We'll
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: see you Monday, every I have a great weekend. We'll
- 1:33:12Speaker 2: see you then.
