- 0:21Speaker 1: all their support. Okay, so had I told you a
- 0:24Speaker 1: year ago that Florida and Ole Miss would meet in
- 0:27Speaker 1: Gainesville in September of 2026... and both teams would be undefeated,
- 0:32Speaker 1: Ole Miss would be ranked in the top 10, and
- 0:34Speaker 1: one of the biggest storylines surrounding the game would be
- 0:36Speaker 1: the quarterback matchup, you probably would not have believed most
- 0:41Speaker 1: of that. Maybe you would have believed Ole Miss being
- 0:44Speaker 1: a top 10. That's probably it. I am pretty sure
- 0:47Speaker 1: you would not have guessed the two quarterbacks that we
- 0:49Speaker 1: would be talking about would be Aaron Philo and Trinidad Chambliss.
- 0:55Speaker 1: One was sitting behind Hayes King at Georgia Tech. The other,
- 0:58Speaker 1: you know, a year ago made the jump from Division
- 1:01Speaker 1: II Ferris State to the SEC. And yet, here we are.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Florida's 3-0. Ole Miss is 3-0. And Saturday in the Swamp,
- 1:09Speaker 1: two quarterbacks with completely different journeys and two very different
- 1:13Speaker 1: styles are going to have a huge say in who
- 1:16Speaker 1: walks out of Gainesville undefeated. It might be one of
- 1:19Speaker 1: the most interesting quarterback matchups in the SEC this weekend.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Trinidad Chambliss is an established star. Is Aaron Filo maybe
- 1:29Speaker 1: going to become one? Saturday could tell us a lot
- 1:32Speaker 1: about just how far Aaron Filo has come. So let's
- 1:35Speaker 1: start there. I think we have to remember just how
- 1:37Speaker 1: different the conversation surrounding quarterbacks for Florida was just a
- 1:41Speaker 1: few months ago. Aaron Filo was not some massive portal
- 1:44Speaker 1: addition who arrived in Gainesville with everyone automatically assuming that
- 1:47Speaker 1: he was, like, the guy. He transferred from Georgia Tech
- 1:51Speaker 1: after spending most of two seasons behind his pink. In
- 1:54Speaker 1: eight appearances at Tech, he'd thrown for fewer than 1,000
- 1:57Speaker 1: career yards. He'd started one game. When he arrived at Florida,
- 2:01Speaker 1: there was a legitimate quarterback competition with Trammell Jones Jr.
- 2:05Speaker 1: John Summerall eventually named Philo the starter, and one of
- 2:08Speaker 1: the big reasons was his familiarity with offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Philo had already spent two seasons in Faulkner's offense at
- 2:15Speaker 1: Georgia Tech. He knew the terminology. He understood the checks.
- 2:18Speaker 1: He understood what Faulkner wanted at the line of scrimmage.
- 2:21Speaker 1: And Through three games, man, I think we're starting to
- 2:25Speaker 1: understand why Florida trusted him. Through the first two games
- 2:29Speaker 1: against FAU and Campbell, Philo was 32 of 42 passing
- 2:32Speaker 1: for 517 yards, five touchdowns, and just one interception. Then
- 2:37Speaker 1: against Auburn, which is his first SEC start, his first
- 2:41Speaker 1: SEC road game, and his first truly hostile environment that
- 2:45Speaker 1: he has faced as Florida's quarterback, he went 15 of
- 2:48Speaker 1: 22 for 204 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. That
- 2:53Speaker 1: puts him at 721 passing yards, six touchdowns, and two
- 2:57Speaker 1: interceptions through three games while completing a little over 73%
- 3:00Speaker 1: of his passes. And y'all, those two interceptions, both freak ones,
- 3:06Speaker 1: both on the receiver. Definitely not something. It almost makes
- 3:10Speaker 1: me feel bad that those have to count in the
- 3:12Speaker 1: interception category for him because not his fault. Now, I
- 3:15Speaker 1: know that the Auburn stats for Philo don't really jump
- 3:19Speaker 1: off the page. 204 yards, a touchdown, an interception. It
- 3:23Speaker 1: wasn't some 400-yard performance where Philo put Florida on his back.
- 3:27Speaker 1: But I kind of think that that's what I liked
- 3:29Speaker 1: about it. We talked a lot last week about how
- 3:32Speaker 1: we needed Philo to not try to do too much.
- 3:34Speaker 1: He needed to be like a point guard. We didn't
- 3:37Speaker 1: need him to be Superman. And he didn't try to
- 3:39Speaker 1: become Superman. Florida had Jaden Baugh running the football. They
- 3:42Speaker 1: had a lead. They were controlling possession. And Philo largely
- 3:46Speaker 1: played within what the offense needed from him. He made
- 3:49Speaker 1: enough throws. Florida had six passing plays of at least
- 3:52Speaker 1: 15 yards. He hit Dallas Wilson for the touchdown that
- 3:55Speaker 1: put Florida up 34-17. And most importantly, he managed his
- 3:59Speaker 1: first SEC road environment well enough for Florida to leave
- 4:02Speaker 1: Jordan Hare with a win. There's huge value in that,
- 4:06Speaker 1: especially for a quarterback making essentially the fourth start of
- 4:09Speaker 1: his entire career. And Philo's story is actually pretty fascinating.
- 4:12Speaker 1: This is the guy who broke Trevor Lawrence's Georgia high
- 4:15Speaker 1: school passing record. He finished his high school career with 13,922
- 4:20Speaker 1: passing yards, so the talent has always been there. It's
- 4:23Speaker 1: just taken him a little while to get his opportunity
- 4:25Speaker 1: at the college level. Now, compare that to Trinidad Chambliss,
- 4:29Speaker 1: and this is where the quarterback matchup gets really fun,
- 4:31Speaker 1: I think. Chambliss' path is even crazier. He was playing
- 4:34Speaker 1: Division II football at Ferris State, sitting behind a Power
- 4:37Speaker 1: Four starter, you know, Once he got to Ole Miss,
- 4:42Speaker 1: you know, Division II, though, is where he started. Not
- 4:44Speaker 1: some SEC school, not, you know, not anywhere. A Division
- 4:48Speaker 1: II school. And in 2024, he helped Ferris State win
- 4:51Speaker 1: a national championship. He threw for 2,901 yards, 26 touchdowns
- 4:54Speaker 1: that season. And if that wasn't enough, he ran for
- 4:58Speaker 1: more than 1,000 and scored another 25 touchdowns on the ground.
- 5:02Speaker 1: So 51 total touchdowns if you're counting at home. So
- 5:04Speaker 1: then he transfers to Ole Miss. And instead of looking
- 5:07Speaker 1: like a guy trying to adjust from Division II football,
- 5:11Speaker 1: he basically takes off. Last season, he threw for 3,937 yards,
- 5:15Speaker 1: 22 touchdowns, and only three interceptions. He completed 66% of
- 5:19Speaker 1: his passes in the SEC. He also added more than
- 5:23Speaker 1: 500 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on the ground. He
- 5:25Speaker 1: was named the SEC Newcomer of the Year, so we're
- 5:29Speaker 1: not talking about a nice story anymore. We're talking about
- 5:31Speaker 1: one of the best quarterbacks in the conference, somebody that
- 5:34Speaker 1: Ole Miss is touting as a potential Heisman hopeful this year.
- 5:37Speaker 1: He's continued his great play into this season. Through three games,
- 5:41Speaker 1: he has thrown for 924 yards and seven touchdowns. He's
- 5:44Speaker 1: completing 70% of his passes. Against LSU Saturday night, 33
- 5:48Speaker 1: of 48 touchdowns. 363 yards, two touchdowns. And when Ole
- 5:54Speaker 1: Miss needed the biggest play of the game, it was
- 5:56Speaker 1: Chambliss who used his legs. LSU had come all the
- 5:59Speaker 1: way back from a 24-7 deficit and tied the game
- 6:01Speaker 1: at 24-all. Ole Miss needed an answer. Chambliss led a 13-play,
- 6:06Speaker 1: 75-yard drive, and he finished it himself with a 14-yard
- 6:09Speaker 1: touchdown run. Ole Miss won 32-24. That's a veteran quarterback.
- 6:14Speaker 1: And that's probably the biggest difference between the two guys
- 6:16Speaker 1: right now. Chambliss has seen more. He's experienced more. He's
- 6:20Speaker 1: played in postseason games. He's played in massive SEC games.
- 6:23Speaker 1: He has already proven he can carry an offense when
- 6:26Speaker 1: the game demands it. Philo's still going through those experiences
- 6:30Speaker 1: for the first time. Saturday night at Auburn, first SEC start, check.
- 6:34Speaker 1: First hostile SEC road environment, check. Now here comes another first.
- 6:39Speaker 1: A top 10 SEC opponent walks into your stadium in
- 6:42Speaker 1: a game where Florida may eventually need its quarterback to
- 6:45Speaker 1: go win it. And that's part of this matchup that
- 6:47Speaker 1: I keep coming back to. Against Auburn, Florida could lean
- 6:51Speaker 1: heavily on Jaden Baugh. 26 carries, 162 yards, three touchdowns.
- 6:55Speaker 1: As a team, Florida ran for 243 yards. That allowed
- 6:58Speaker 1: Florida to control the game for more than 39 minutes.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Take a short break from this video with Jake to
- 7:04Speaker 1: give some love to Alumni Hall. Guys, it's not too
- 7:07Speaker 1: late to buy all the latest gear you're gonna need
- 7:10Speaker 1: for the rest of the game days of the fall.
- 7:13Speaker 1: You can shop at Alumni Hall online at alumnihall.com or
- 7:17Speaker 1: if you're in Gainesville, you can check out their store
- 7:19Speaker 1: on Archer Road But we have a code, and it

- 7:27Speaker 1: save you 15% off your entire purchase. They've got all
- 7:29Speaker 1: the best brands that you're looking for. Nike, Cutter & Buck,
- 7:32Speaker 1: Peter Millar, Jordan, everything you could possibly want all in
- 7:36Speaker 1: one place. So either check them out online, alumnihall.com, or
- 7:39Speaker 1: in person at their store on Archer Road. But don't
- 7:42Speaker 1: forget to tell them that Allie sent you. That code
- 7:45Speaker 1: is PEAK15. That's P-E-E-K-1-5. Appreciate Alumni Hall for all their support.
- 7:50Speaker 1: If Ole Miss looks at that tape, what do you
- 7:52Speaker 1: think their first priority is going to be? Stop Jaden Baugh.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Make Aaron Filo beat you. And that is where this
- 7:58Speaker 1: quarterback matchup becomes incredibly important. I think we already know
- 8:02Speaker 1: Trinidad Chambliss can be the guy. We've seen it. If
- 8:05Speaker 1: Ole Miss needs him to throw it 40-plus times, they're
- 8:07Speaker 1: going to do it. He threw 48 times against LSU.
- 8:10Speaker 1: He completed 33 of them. If the pocket breaks down,
- 8:13Speaker 1: he can create magic with his legs. If Ole Miss
- 8:17Speaker 1: needs a fourth down– fourth down attempt in the fourth quarter,
- 8:22Speaker 1: he's already shown he can deliver that. The question Saturday
- 8:26Speaker 1: is whether Florida can ask Aaron Philo to do the
- 8:29Speaker 1: same thing if it becomes necessary. Not necessarily throw it
- 8:32Speaker 1: 48 times. I don't think Florida wants that. But what
- 8:35Speaker 1: happens if Ole Miss slows Vaughn down? What happens if
- 8:37Speaker 1: Florida gets behind 10-0? What happens if it's third and
- 8:41Speaker 1: eight late in the fourth quarter and everybody in the
- 8:43Speaker 1: stadium knows Philo has to throw it? What happens if
- 8:46Speaker 1: the game comes down to Florida needing a 75-yard touchdown
- 8:48Speaker 1: drive with five minutes left? We know what Chambliss looks
- 8:51Speaker 1: like in that situation. We are still finding out what
- 8:55Speaker 1: Philo looks like. And that's not a criticism of Aaron
- 8:57Speaker 1: Philo at all. That's just where he is in his
- 9:00Speaker 1: career at the moment. He has basically gone from career
- 9:02Speaker 1: backup to starting SEC quarterback overnight. And so far, he
- 9:06Speaker 1: has passed every test. But the tests are going to
- 9:09Speaker 1: keep getting harder. And I think these two quarterbacks also
- 9:12Speaker 1: show us two very different ways to play the position.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Chambliss is chaos. I mean that in the best way possible.
- 9:19Speaker 1: But he can run the offense exactly as designed. He
- 9:21Speaker 1: can sit in the pocket and throw for 363 yards.
- 9:24Speaker 1: But when the play breaks down, he becomes incredibly dangerous.
- 9:27Speaker 1: He can escape. He can extend the play. He can
- 9:29Speaker 1: turn a third and eight into a first down with
- 9:31Speaker 1: his legs. He can make a defense defend for five
- 9:33Speaker 1: or six seconds instead of three. You saw it in
- 9:36Speaker 1: that opener against Louisville. Ole Miss was trailing the fourth quarter.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Chambliss scrambles for 17 yards to move them into Louisville territory.
- 9:43Speaker 1: Two plays later, he throws a 35-yard touchdown. Later in
- 9:47Speaker 1: the quarter, he runs for another touchdown. Ole Miss won 41-38.
- 9:49Speaker 1: That's Chambliss. He can beat you inside the offense, and
- 9:54Speaker 1: he can beat you when the offense breaks down. Philo's different.
- 9:57Speaker 1: He's much more of an operator, and that's okay, operator.
- 10:00Speaker 1: I think that's a good word. I think that's the
- 10:02Speaker 1: word I want to use. Operate. Get Florida into the
- 10:04Speaker 1: right look. Make the correct read. Use the RPO game.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Get the ball out. Allow Florida's skilled players to create
- 10:11Speaker 1: after the catch. Take the explosive throw when the defense
- 10:14Speaker 1: gives it to you. And above all else, keep the
- 10:16Speaker 1: offense on schedule. And I think that style fits what
- 10:19Speaker 1: Florida is trying to do perfectly because this offense doesn't
- 10:23Speaker 1: need the quarterback to dominate the football. They have Jaden Baugh.
- 10:26Speaker 1: They've got VB3. They've got Dallas Wilson. They've got Duke Clark.
- 10:29Speaker 1: You have legitimate playmakers around him. Philo's job is to
- 10:33Speaker 1: make sure all of those pieces work together. And I
- 10:35Speaker 1: think the biggest compliment you can give him right now
- 10:38Speaker 1: is that through three games, the offense looks comfortable. It
- 10:42Speaker 1: doesn't look chaotic. Players are constantly knowing what they're supposed
- 10:46Speaker 1: to do instead of constantly looking towards the sideline confused.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Florida lines up, Philo makes checks, the ball gets where
- 10:52Speaker 1: it needs to go, and Florida scores. I know that
- 10:55Speaker 1: sounds super simple. But guys, we know that's not something
- 10:59Speaker 1: that's always been simple around these parts. And that's why
- 11:01Speaker 1: I think Saturday is such a fascinating quarterback game. Because
- 11:04Speaker 1: when these guys may not be playing against each other technically,
- 11:09Speaker 1: both offenses are not out on the field at the
- 11:12Speaker 1: same time, Aaron Filo is playing the Ole Miss defense.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Trinidad Chambliss is playing the Florida defense. But quarterbacks absolutely
- 11:19Speaker 1: influence the pressure on the guy standing on the other sideline.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Imagine Chambliss hits two explosive plays early. Ole Miss goes
- 11:25Speaker 1: up 14-3. Suddenly, Florida's plan changes. Now Ole Miss can
- 11:29Speaker 1: become more aggressive defensively. Now Pete Golding can bring pressure.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Now Filo is throwing because he has to throw instead
- 11:36Speaker 1: of because that's what Florida's choosing to do in that moment. Now,
- 11:39Speaker 1: on the other hand, imagine Florida does what it did
- 11:41Speaker 1: at Auburn. Baugh gets rolling. Philo converts third downs. Florida
- 11:44Speaker 1: holds the football. The Gators jump out to a lead.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Now Chambliss becomes the quarterback pressing to keep up. That's
- 11:50Speaker 1: what quarterback play can dictate in this game. It can
- 11:54Speaker 1: change the entire personality of the game. And turnovers may
- 11:57Speaker 1: be enormous. Philo has thrown two interceptions through three games.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Chambliss has thrown two as well. Neither guy has been
- 12:04Speaker 1: particularly careless with the football. But in a game between
- 12:07Speaker 1: two undefeated SEC teams where both offenses are capable of scoring,
- 12:11Speaker 1: one turnover can completely change everything, especially if it's a
- 12:15Speaker 1: short field. And I think that's where Philo mentally has
- 12:18Speaker 1: to remain exactly where he has been. He does not
- 12:21Speaker 1: have to beat Trinidad Chambliss statistically. If Chambliss throws for
- 12:24Speaker 1: 350 and Philo throws for 225, but Florida wins, nobody
- 12:28Speaker 1: in Gainesville is going to care. Philo doesn't have to
- 12:30Speaker 1: match every big throw. He doesn't have to answer every
- 12:33Speaker 1: Chambliss scramble by trying to make something happen himself. He
- 12:36Speaker 1: has to play Aaron Filo's game. Let Jaden Baugh be
- 12:39Speaker 1: Jaden Baugh. Get the football to Florida's receivers. Stay ahead
- 12:42Speaker 1: of the chains. Take calculated shots. And when Florida gets
- 12:45Speaker 1: into the red zone, finish drives. Because that is where
- 12:48Speaker 1: this game could get really interesting. Chambliss has demonstrated that
- 12:51Speaker 1: Ole Miss can score in a hurry. Florida, on the
- 12:54Speaker 1: other hand, has shown that it can play a much
- 12:55Speaker 1: more methodical style. At Auburn, Florida held the football for
- 12:59Speaker 1: 39 minutes and 16 seconds. You know the best way
- 13:02Speaker 1: to defend a quarterback like Trinidad Chambliss? Huh. Make him watch.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Make him be on the sidelines. Let Aaron Filo stand
- 13:08Speaker 1: at the line of scrimmage. Check the defense. Hand it
- 13:11Speaker 1: to Baugh. Complete an eight-yard pass. Move the chains. Hand
- 13:14Speaker 1: it to Baugh again. Take six minutes off the clock.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Finish the drive with seven points. And send Chambliss back
- 13:19Speaker 1: onto the field knowing now he's got to answer. That
- 13:22Speaker 1: would be Florida's ideal game. But I suspect that there
- 13:25Speaker 1: will be a point on Saturday when Florida needs more
- 13:27Speaker 1: from Aaron Filo. And that might end up being the
- 13:31Speaker 1: story of this game. Because we know a lot more
- 13:33Speaker 1: about Trinidad Chambliss. He was one of the breakout stars
- 13:36Speaker 1: of college football last year, nearly 4,000 passing yards, SEC
- 13:39Speaker 1: Newcomer of the Year, one of the most productive returning
- 13:41Speaker 1: quarterbacks in the country. And this year, he's already gone
- 13:45Speaker 1: into the fourth quarter against LSU with the game tied
- 13:47Speaker 1: and delivered the winning touchdown drive. Philo, we're watching his
- 13:51Speaker 1: story happen right now. Three weeks ago, we were still
- 13:54Speaker 1: wondering exactly what Florida had at quarterback. Could the production
- 13:57Speaker 1: against FAU translate? Okay. Campbell looked good, but it's Campbell.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Then Auburn. Can he handle Jordan Hare? Can he handle
- 14:04Speaker 1: SEC speed? Can he operate with 80-something thousand people screaming
- 14:08Speaker 1: at him? Florida scored 44 points and won. Question answered.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Now comes another one. What happens when the quarterback standing
- 14:15Speaker 1: on the other sideline is good enough to force you
- 14:17Speaker 1: to keep scoring? What happens when three points isn't enough?
- 14:20Speaker 1: What happens when running the ball isn't as easy? What
- 14:23Speaker 1: happens when Florida needs Philo to make the play? And
- 14:26Speaker 1: that's why I think this is one of the most
- 14:27Speaker 1: intriguing quarterback matchups of the weekend. Trinidad Chambliss is what
- 14:31Speaker 1: Aaron Philo is trying to become. Not statistically. Their games
- 14:34Speaker 1: are very different. But in terms of becoming the quarterback
- 14:37Speaker 1: your team completely trusts when the game is on the line.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Chambliss has earned that. Philo is working on earning that.
- 14:43Speaker 1: And the funny thing is, neither of these guys took
- 14:46Speaker 1: the path anyone would have drawn up. Chambliss went from
- 14:48Speaker 1: a D2 Ferris State to becoming an SEC star. Philo
- 14:52Speaker 1: went from backing up Hayes King at Georgia Tech to
- 14:54Speaker 1: following his offensive coordinator to Florida, winning a quarterback competition
- 14:58Speaker 1: and becoming the starter for an undefeated Gators team. Two quarterbacks,
- 15:01Speaker 1: two very different paths, two very different styles. And Saturday,
- 15:05Speaker 1: one of them is going to leave the swamp 4-0.
- 15:07Speaker 1: A year ago, Aaron Philo versus Trinidad Chambliss probably would
- 15:11Speaker 1: have sounded like the most random quarterback matchup imaginable. Today,
- 15:16Speaker 1: it might actually be the matchup that decides Florida versus
- 15:19Speaker 1: Ole Miss. Guys, let me know down in the comments,
- 15:23Speaker 1: what do you think this matchup is going to come
- 15:25Speaker 1: down to? Do you think that I've gauged it correctly
- 15:27Speaker 1: that quarterback play is going to dictate the outcome or
- 15:30Speaker 1: is it going to be something else? Don't forget, all
