- 0:00I'm talking about autism and ADHD and some of the things that
- 0:03I've personally experienced coming up.
- 0:05I'm discussing five things that I feel are super insightful
- 0:09about autism and Asperger's syndrome and how they kind of
- 0:12interlock with ADHD. So yeah, they didn't like my
- 0:15personal kind of like background bits to it.
- 0:18I think it's going to be super interesting.
- 0:20Okay guys, so, you know, I have a condition of autism spectrum
- 0:24disorder and ADHD now that is really interesting.
- 0:28I know a lot of people have that as well.
- 0:30Well, but this my diagnosis my diagnosis is autism ADHD OCD and
- 0:34dyslexia, and it's a very interesting mix and it's quite
- 0:38common you obviously this mix it happens a lot, but I just wanted
- 0:41to discuss it because I feel like a lot of people are
- 0:43searching for it and they want to talk about it.
- 0:45And so I thought I'd discuss five things that I kind of like
- 0:47super interesting to me from my point of view of having both
- 0:50ADHD and Asperger's Syndrome. So here are five things.
- 0:54I want to discuss. The first thing is that ADHD and
- 0:57Asperger's or ADHD and and ASD Just autism spectrum disorders.
- 1:01They are commonly comorbidities are commonly called occurring
- 1:04together. So using this one has a
- 1:06diagnosis or an official diagnosis of autism.
- 1:10They would out about 90% of the time they'll have a diagnosis of
- 1:14like add or ADHD. Now this is super interesting.
- 1:18Like I find this is fascinating because they conflict and I'll
- 1:22talk more about the convictions later on but it's really
- 1:24interesting that when I when I meet someone who is on the
- 1:26spectrum they all say like here I don't want special more
- 1:29artistic. And oh, yeah.
- 1:30Oh, yeah. I have ADHD like most of the
- 1:32time that happens. It's quite interesting actually
- 1:34that you know, so I know a couple people who don't have
- 1:38ADHD, but I think it's just that they haven't been diagnosed with
- 1:41ADHD, but they have been diagnosed with autism and a lot
- 1:44of the time I guess, you know what they'll diagnose autism.
- 1:47They're kind of like the not really getting the ADHD part
- 1:50because they think it's on the autism part of the how they test
- 1:52I'll be it's S4 and lots of spectrum condition.
- 1:56I find it just fascinating. Okay, so number two the second
- 2:00To talk about is how food and drink impact my ADHD versus my
- 2:06Asperger's Syndrome. So with autism I find that like
- 2:11it comes with like GI issues and gastrointestinal issues.
- 2:14Like anybody who does like an Autism Spectrum condition
- 2:16watching this for all know all about the IBS and all the other
- 2:18kind of fun lovely get issues that come with an Autism
- 2:21Spectrum Disorder. I don't know why but it just
- 2:24does and it's a right pain in the backside, but in terms of
- 2:27food and drink sugar, ER directly impact me so if I have
- 2:32sugar or something that is like heightened with like sweeteners
- 2:35or something like that, like basically anything it's sugary
- 2:37like even juice to a certain extent.
- 2:39I just hit the roof. I get super hyper active my
- 2:42parents band orange juice in my house when I was growing up
- 2:45because the effect it had on me and especially Sunny Delight the
- 2:47English only delight and I was a climbing the walls of crazy, but
- 2:51I kind of stay away from sugar and you know now as well the
- 2:55past 10 years. I haven't had any caffeine
- 2:57because I caffeine also impacts me because the weird Okay.
- 3:00So this is how it happens when I have caffeine.
- 3:03I am just super like just you know hyperactive is hacked.
- 3:07I think I'm hyperactive now when I like caffeine I'm hyperactive
- 3:10is ever like I can I can't sleep.
- 3:12So if I have caffeine I'll be laying in bed like, you know,
- 3:14like shaking because I can't go to sleep.
- 3:16And also when I have like sugar it's anything up and I can't go
- 3:18to sleep. I think melatonin to go to
- 3:20sleep. Sometimes we get so hyper active
- 3:21during the day having caffeine and sugar just super directly
- 3:25impacts my life. It's so bizarre, but it's
- 3:28something that I've had to live. Live with and learn to live with
- 3:31and something that I've kind of overcome by just making sure to
- 3:33shake my body well and that kind of replace like Juices Flow like
- 3:36water and stuff like that and I don't have like caffeine and
- 3:39fizzy soda pop and stuff like that.
- 3:41I don't know. It kind of works.
- 3:42I didn't miss Coca-Cola and Mountain Dew and stuff like
- 3:44that. But you know the past 10 years
- 3:47you can get mugged you 10 years ago here in the UK anyway, so
- 3:49we're one of it. Okay, so I really want to talk
- 3:51about this next subject number three.
- 3:53I want to talk about how ASD and ADHD conflict with each other
- 3:56because I have both conditions. It's very interesting to them
- 3:58conflict now. When I want to try and
- 4:01hyper-focus on an obsession because if anybody has an Autism
- 4:04Spectrum condition will know that you have a hyper Focus
- 4:07where you'll find an obsessive topic or interest or something.
- 4:10You want to hyper focus on and you'll like really get into that
- 4:13and you really want to learn about it and you want to get
- 4:15onto that one thing do it really really well now that's all well
- 4:18and good. But when my ADHD kicks in it's
- 4:21like you don't agree that you want to do this.
- 4:22I'm also this and also that also this and also that and also this
- 4:25is also done with it and you get all these things just like
- 4:27around me. I have like a million Products
- 4:30project I have a million unfinished project because my
- 4:33brain is just splitting me all over the place.
- 4:35My MacBook window has like Anna million tabs open at any one
- 4:39time. I have like anyone like maybe
- 4:41four or five projects on the go. I edit like two videos at a time
- 4:44because my brain is just like split and divided down the
- 4:46middle and I'd rather just focus on one thing but then the other
- 4:49time I'm like no but I can do so much more and it's so weird.
- 4:52Like it's the most weird thing I can I could try and explain.
- 4:55I mean, I don't know if I'm explaining this like well
- 4:57enough, but it's how it is and that's what I experienced.
- 5:01Okay guys number four and this one is interesting number four
- 5:03is like how ADHD impacted me in a classroom, right?
- 5:08So where I was in a classroom, I had ADHD and it made me like
- 5:12super irritable. Like I didn't want to be there
- 5:14because all I care is it that you want to sit down on this
- 5:15chair for too long? And then like I couldn't like
- 5:17focus and stuff and really super unhappy because like I'm just
- 5:20irritated the whole time while to get up and just like let off
- 5:22some energy, you know, and it was just mad and you look at
- 5:25like being destructive if teachers caught you like getting
- 5:27up off your chair. You have to sit down with who?
- 5:30Either kids in general. It makes you sit down for such a
- 5:32long time in these little plastic chairs.
- 5:34It's horrible. Like they really need to kind
- 5:36of, you know realize that not all kids are going to be a
- 5:38sit-down for that amount of time especially kids on the Spectrum.
- 5:40I mean, it's stupid to think otherwise, but that was really
- 5:42interesting because like that made me like anyone to focus on
- 5:45stuff. I couldn't focus on the board
- 5:46like writing stuff down or learning like certain techniques
- 5:48and stuff like that. But my autism also made me super
- 5:51bored in costumes because like as a kid, I was like Super Bowl
- 5:55because I knew a lot of the stuff that teachers are talking
- 5:57about already like learn a lot of the stuff actually cracked.
- 5:59The teachers a few times so it does conflict of like being with
- 6:02really irritable and really bored and it wasn't a good
- 6:04combination and I really didn't enjoy primary school or the
- 6:08first few years of high school until I found music but like the
- 6:11first day it was just it it didn't work.
- 6:13You know, I get that the school system.
- 6:14What I went to was never set up for anyone with autism ADHD
- 6:17autism and ADHD to didn't work. Okay guys, the number five is
- 6:22this is interesting actually. So as I was saying before like
- 6:25ASD and ADHD are commonly called morbid or co-occurring when they
- 6:28get diagnosed on the Contrary to that ASD sometimes is
- 6:31misdiagnosed as ADD. Now.
- 6:34This is really fascinating. So people who actually have ASD
- 6:38actually getting diagnosis of ADHD or EDD because the
- 6:42assessors are finding it really interesting that they have the
- 6:45same traits like zoning out obsessive interest hyper-focus
- 6:48that super smart the very creative all that kind of stuff
- 6:51adds to the fact that they go. Oh, no, this person actually has
- 6:53ADD and but they go. Okay.
- 6:55Well, we're about the social aspect and social aspect
- 6:57actually determined that the autism But it's the other parts
- 7:00like the hyperactivity and the and the other things that I like
- 7:03more links or like ADHD or add switching from topic to topic
- 7:07very quickly and not really deciding on those things that
- 7:09again is ADHD and add so rather than really pick out the bitter
- 7:14between us say, oh, it's ADHD and autism or ESD.
- 7:18They're actually saying it's one or the other a lot of the time
- 7:20and this is a big issue for kids who have both but not getting
- 7:23the support for both if if that makes sense.
- 7:25So it's a very interesting one to think about this is really
- 7:27common misdiagnosis. Just like in girl.
- 7:29Girls, you know girls on the Spectrum was diagnosed with
- 7:31bipolar disorder before they get their actual official diagnosis
- 7:34of autism, and it's just very interesting but hopefully
- 7:37communities like ours are going to help build that kind of
- 7:40understanding and help build a secure structure.
- 7:43So people can get correctly diagnosed as and when they need
- 7:45it. Okay guys, they were like my
- 7:47five things. I thought you needed to know
- 7:49about ADHD and autism together and autism and ADHD and how they
- 7:53relate to each other and I have super fun telling you like
- 7:56reliving some more like my memories from the past and going
- 7:57down the relay in and do all those kind of things.
