- 0:00Speaker 1: You've been pretty clear that you think Republican Congressman Max
- 0:02Speaker 1: Miller from Ohio needs to go following the abuse physical
- 0:06Speaker 1: abuse allegations by his ex wife, not to mention two
- 0:09Speaker 1: other women. Miller was on our show yesterday. Here's a
- 0:12Speaker 1: little bit of what he had to say on the lead.
- 0:16Speaker 2: In twenty sixteen, when President Donald J. Trump faced the
- 0:19Speaker 2: most extreme allegations, he stayed in and he was resilient.
- 0:22Speaker 2: And what the American people can see is that they
- 0:25Speaker 2: can see that somebody is fighting who is resilient, and
- 0:28Speaker 2: that is a quality that the American people cherish.
- 0:31Speaker 1: So he thinks that if he follows the Trump playbook,
- 0:35Speaker 1: he can emerge victorious.
- 0:36Speaker 3: What do you think.
- 0:39Speaker 4: The American people have given Donald Trump a pass on
- 0:41Speaker 4: a lot that they don't give anyone a pass on.
- 0:43Speaker 4: Max Miller is no Donald Trump. And Donald Trump, by
- 0:47Speaker 4: the way, he didn't have physical abuse allegations against women
- 0:49Speaker 4: despite the various allegations. I mean Max Miller has physical
- 0:53Speaker 4: abuse allegations, not just against the next wife. People can
- 0:55Speaker 4: say this is some sort of messy divorce. He's got
- 0:58Speaker 4: physical abuse allegation multiple women. He's no gram Plantner. I
- 1:03Speaker 4: mean the Democrats push Platner out, They pushed Eric Swallwell out,
- 1:06Speaker 4: they pushed Joe Biden out of a presidential race. The
- 1:09Speaker 4: fact that Republicans won't push him out he could cost
- 1:12Speaker 4: the GOP not just his congressional race, but also the
- 1:15Speaker 4: Senate race in Ohio and the governor's race in Ohio,
- 1:18Speaker 4: where by the way, Republicans are behind. Right now, you
- 1:20Speaker 4: got multiple hundreds of thousands of Republicans in his district
- 1:24Speaker 4: who may just sit it out because they didn't want
- 1:25Speaker 4: to vote for him. I can't imagine why the GOP
- 1:28Speaker 4: isn't going to the links the Democrats were willing to
- 1:31Speaker 4: go to just to make sure a race is one
- 1:33Speaker 4: in their column.
- 1:34Speaker 1: I think there were some allegations of physical abuse against
- 1:37Speaker 1: President Trump. Not to put too fine a point eg
- 1:40Speaker 1: and Carroll and others, but I take your larger point
- 1:42Speaker 1: that Maxim Miller is not Donald Trump. Explain why you
- 1:45Speaker 1: think that he could not only cost Republicans his congressional
- 1:50Speaker 1: seat but also hurt vivek Ramaswami, who's running for governor
- 1:56Speaker 1: in Ohio and Senator Hohostad who's running for election to
- 2:01Speaker 1: the Senate in Ohio. How could he this hurt him
- 2:05Speaker 1: hurt them.
- 2:07Speaker 4: This is a point Rerepublican's going to pay attention to.
- 2:09Speaker 4: There're seven hundred and eighty nine thousand people in Max
- 2:12Speaker 4: Miller's seventh congressional district. Of those, over three hundred thousand
- 2:16Speaker 4: are registered voters, and of those, the majority of them
- 2:18Speaker 4: are Republicans. Hosted and Ramaswami are running slightly behind their
- 2:25Speaker 4: Democratic candidates. If one hundred thousand Republicans in Max Miller's
- 2:29Speaker 4: district decide, you know what, I'm not going to go vote.
- 2:31Speaker 4: This is disgusting. They're not going to go vote for
- 2:34Speaker 4: Ramaswami or whostd either. And if they lose by fifty
- 2:37Speaker 4: to seventy five thousand votes, I mean that could cost it.
- 2:40Speaker 4: I mean, look up in Michigan, Mike Rodgers last has
- 2:43Speaker 4: lost his twenty twenty four election to Elise Luck and
- 2:46Speaker 4: by I think thirty thousand votes. You could have this
- 2:49Speaker 4: happen in Ohio. Every vote counts, and suppress the vote
- 2:52Speaker 4: with a bad candidate, you cost three seats, not one
- 2:56Speaker 4: seat in Ohio.
- 2:56Speaker 3: So, David max Miller, we hear what he has told. Manu.
- 3:02Speaker 3: If you're advising Maximullan right now, what do you what
- 3:04Speaker 3: are you what are you advising?
- 3:06Speaker 5: Get some help this one thing. I mean, look this.
- 3:10Speaker 5: First of all, I'd say, think about your family and
- 3:13Speaker 5: what this is doing to your family. Uh. And I
- 3:17Speaker 5: think his father and his ex father in law made
- 3:19Speaker 5: an important point. I mean, how much do you value
- 3:22Speaker 5: your political career versus the well being of your child? Uh?
- 3:26Speaker 5: But listen, Uh, you know, I said, we spoke about
- 3:30Speaker 5: this earlier in another place in this building. But and
- 3:35Speaker 5: I said that, and I still you know, he is
- 3:39Speaker 5: doing what his mentor taught him to do. He is denying.
- 3:44Speaker 5: He is denying. He is denying. And you know, as
- 3:47Speaker 5: for the speaker, the Speaker is a very moral man,
- 3:50Speaker 5: and he consults higher sources on questions like this, like
- 3:53Speaker 5: the President. That's the source he consults. And if Donald
- 3:56Speaker 5: Trump said he has to go, they would ask him go.
- 4:01Speaker 5: But this MAXI Miller is close to him. He touched
- 4:05Speaker 5: all of Donald Trump's funny bones yesterday on Jake's interview
- 4:09Speaker 5: and said, I'm just doing what I learned from the
- 4:11Speaker 5: President and so on. And so he didn't. But I
- 4:15Speaker 5: think it could cost them a seat because that is
- 4:19Speaker 5: a plus five partisan lean for Republicans. But that's not
- 4:25Speaker 5: an insuperable barrier. Now I will say last thing, sorry,
- 4:28Speaker 5: see you the last thing. In the Washington Post, they
- 4:31Speaker 5: did an interview and his constituents said, no, we're not gonna.
- 4:34Speaker 3: That's exactly what I was looking at today too.
- 4:36Speaker 5: I know it's reading your note, thank you so. But
- 4:39Speaker 5: this one woman said she would probably separate his personal
- 4:43Speaker 5: foibles meaning domestic abuse, from her political considerations, as she
- 4:48Speaker 5: has done for President Donald Trump. I know there are
- 4:51Speaker 5: things in his past that people aren't happy with, and
- 4:53Speaker 5: I've had to set it aside if it comes to that.
- 4:56Speaker 5: That's where I stand. So you know this is this
- 5:00Speaker 5: is the kind of environment that the president has created,
- 5:05Speaker 5: and it's not limited, as you point out, Democrats have these,
- 5:08Speaker 5: but in terms of discipline, there really isn't.
- 5:12Speaker 3: Any What do you think of what David's raising because
- 5:15Speaker 3: the Washington Post, the way they put it is that
- 5:18Speaker 3: the scandal is barely registering back at home, and they
- 5:21Speaker 3: talked to dozens of voters in his district. They said,
- 5:25Speaker 3: and to David's points, yes, some said I can't any
- 5:29Speaker 3: I can't back him anymore. But it seems that the
- 5:31Speaker 3: take is, the general take is either they're not paying
- 5:34Speaker 3: attention to it. It hasn't broken through there yet, or
- 5:37Speaker 3: one woman who described herself as a Trumpelkin said, they
- 5:40Speaker 3: can say all they want, but it's not going to
- 5:42Speaker 3: sway my vote. I'm not perfect and I'm not that
- 5:44Speaker 3: great of a person all the time, So I can't
- 5:46Speaker 3: judge him. I'd have to vote for him even if
- 5:48Speaker 3: I can't stand him. Her kind of suggesting, because I've
- 5:51Speaker 3: got it's Republican or bust. Right, it's Trump's person or bust.
- 5:57Speaker 3: I don't know what do you do with that.
- 6:00Speaker 6: Well, that's a group of people and I feel like
- 6:04Speaker 6: they're impenetrable. But I think there's a larger group of
- 6:08Speaker 6: people that with every time they see this guy talk right,
- 6:13Speaker 6: and he did Jake yesterday. He also went on news
- 6:16Speaker 6: Max yesterday. He is talking and talking, and he will
- 6:18Speaker 6: not be able to campaign in a vacuum. I think
- 6:22Speaker 6: more and more people will be turned off because when
- 6:24Speaker 6: you watch this guy, when you listen to this guy
- 6:27Speaker 6: and we know he's denied all the allegations, he sounds creepy.
- 6:29Speaker 6: He sounds really really creepy, and so I think he's
- 6:33Speaker 6: going to be his own worst enemy here, his defiance,
- 6:37Speaker 6: his ego, his refusal to do the right thing for
- 6:41Speaker 6: his family, to David's point, or for his party politically,
- 6:45Speaker 6: I think is going to be the thing that imperils
- 6:48Speaker 6: the scene. And David's right, Ohio is competitive, and people
- 6:52Speaker 6: like me, whose job it is to go out and
- 6:54Speaker 6: talk about this, are going to tie him to Ken Paxton,
- 6:58Speaker 6: to you know, all the other Republicans facing this kind
- 7:03Speaker 6: of scrutiny and asking is it worth it? Is he
- 7:07Speaker 6: worth it to keep backing him? And I don't really
- 7:10Speaker 6: understand what the meaning of leadership is.
- 7:13Speaker 3: I was gonna ask that too too for.
- 7:14Speaker 6: Mike Johnson, jd Vance, Donald Trump, any of these guys.
- 7:18Speaker 6: If you're not going to lead on these issues of character,
- 7:22Speaker 6: and you're gonna push it right up to the very
- 7:24Speaker 6: edge and make voters decide, you know where the line is,
- 7:29Speaker 6: You're not leaders your followers, right.
- 7:31Speaker 5: And that's the reason that the speaker is there because
- 7:34Speaker 5: he is a follower and he follows the president and
- 7:36Speaker 5: if the President said he has to go, he has
- 7:37Speaker 5: to go.
- 7:38Speaker 3: Think about this. But the little yes, it's taking insight
- 7:43Speaker 3: even further that Manu ads is because of the existing
- 7:47Speaker 3: bad frosty, as Monu described it, relationship between Max Miller
- 7:51Speaker 3: and the speaker. There might be a calculation here of
- 7:54Speaker 3: the speaker being like, if I come out and say
- 7:56Speaker 3: get out, he's going to say I'm not going to
- 8:00Speaker 3: Is that should that be a calculation for a person
- 8:02Speaker 3: in leadership?
- 8:03Speaker 5: You know? I here's what I wonder. I wonder if
- 8:05Speaker 5: I'm a member of the House and I'm fighting my
- 8:08Speaker 5: ass off to try and keep the majority against great
- 8:11Speaker 5: odds that have been made more difficult because the president's
- 8:14Speaker 5: so unpopular, how do I feel about a speaker who's
- 8:17Speaker 5: willing to give up a seat and not confront the
- 8:21Speaker 5: issue that would really anger me if I were them?
- 8:29Speaker 3: What do you think that when it comes down to it,
- 8:33Speaker 3: We know that the speaker it seems as the Speaker
- 8:35Speaker 3: doesn't move unless he's going to hear something from the president.
- 8:38Speaker 3: We know the President's been I don't know the reporting
- 8:40Speaker 3: is that he's privately does not think that Miller can
- 8:42Speaker 3: win given the accusations publicly, Well, let me play what
- 8:46Speaker 3: he said actually publicly just overnight.
- 8:55Speaker 5: I'll be able to work it out. I feel badly.
- 9:01Speaker 3: Is this dynamic really not changing unless Donald Trump just
- 9:06Speaker 3: I don't know what he sees, but he sees something
- 9:08Speaker 3: and decides that he's now going to say Max has
- 9:10Speaker 3: got to go.
- 9:11Speaker 6: Well, that would be out of character for him. He
- 9:13Speaker 6: has a long and consistent record of defending guys who
- 9:16Speaker 6: have been accused of this kind of stuff, from herschel
- 9:19Speaker 6: Walker to Roy Moore.
- 9:21Speaker 3: Now the good.
- 9:23Speaker 6: News to Donald Trump, to Donald Trump. But the good
- 9:25Speaker 6: news in that, Rob Porter, I mean, there's a lot,
- 9:27Speaker 6: But the good news in that is those people didn't win, right.
- 9:31Speaker 6: The voters ultimately decided. So even though these guys want
- 9:34Speaker 6: to shirk their responsibilities and their moral obligations to guide
- 9:38Speaker 6: their party and their voters to the right place, the
- 9:41Speaker 6: voters ultimately will make that call. And I truly believe,
- 9:46Speaker 6: I truly believe that the more people here from Max Miller,
- 9:50Speaker 6: the more they will decide they cannot in good conscience
- 9:55Speaker 6: give this guy their vote.
- 9:56Speaker 5: When he says he's not going anywhere, that's the thing
- 9:58Speaker 5: he's ignoring. The people of his district can dispatch him,
- 10:03Speaker 5: and I think there's a very good chance to say will.
- 10:05Speaker 5: But the odd thing about that quote that you played
- 10:08Speaker 5: from the President was he said, I feel badly for him.
- 10:12Speaker 5: What about for his wife? What about for his child?
- 10:15Speaker 5: What about for Senator Marino and the family. You know,
- 10:19Speaker 5: that sort of absence of empathy for them is very telling.
- 10:25Speaker 3: It is remarkable. How I mean the fact that the
- 10:28Speaker 3: sitting Republican senator is the former father in law and
- 10:31Speaker 3: the one that's taking a stand against another Republican from
- 10:33Speaker 3: the state in the congressional delegation. I mean this whole
- 10:37Speaker 3: thing again, I've said that I just can't. It is
- 10:40Speaker 3: just it's awful. It is awful. It's awful.
