- 0:10Speaker 1: Welcome to the favorites presented by DraftKings. The crown is yours.
- 0:14Speaker 1: We are an action network podcast. I'm Brandon Kravitz, your
- 0:18Speaker 1: host back at it. With the first lady of the pod,
- 0:20Speaker 1: Kendra Middleton. On today's episode, a single tear rolls down
- 0:24Speaker 1: my cheek as our divisional previews come to a close.
- 0:27Speaker 1: This has been so much fun, Kendra. Going piece by piece,
- 0:31Speaker 1: division by division, team by team. We've handed out a
- 0:34Speaker 1: ton of bets and hopefully we get over 50% of
- 0:38Speaker 1: these to cash. We've got some long shots in there too.
- 0:41Speaker 1: It's just been a ton of fun. I look forward
- 0:42Speaker 1: to chatting with Nick Lee today.
- 0:44Speaker 2: I really enjoyed some of the guests we've had. They've
- 0:46Speaker 2: definitely made the I love the football season. But as
- 0:51Speaker 2: people who work so much once it starts, I am
- 0:54Speaker 2: like for once kind of just like, ah, shit, like
- 0:56Speaker 2: it's starting crap. It's going to get cold and I'm
- 0:59Speaker 2: going to be miserable and inside. But our guests have
- 1:02Speaker 2: made me feel a sense of joy that we are
- 1:05Speaker 2: heading back into our grind season.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Yes, very much. So I start to really get antsy
- 1:12Speaker 1: around like right after the first week of August, I
- 1:15Speaker 1: think it's right after the hall of fame game. And
- 1:17Speaker 1: we still get that first taste of football is when
- 1:19Speaker 1: I really want to see the real stuff come back.
- 1:21Speaker 1: And I'm really diving deep into the prep side of it.
- 1:25Speaker 1: You can only prepare so much for an NFL season
- 1:28Speaker 1: because everything is going to change within two to three weeks.
- 1:31Speaker 1: So you don't want to It's kind of like I
- 1:34Speaker 1: used to tell myself this. I wasn't the best test taker,
- 1:37Speaker 1: so maybe take this with a grain of salt. But
- 1:39Speaker 1: I used to tell myself this going into a test
- 1:41Speaker 1: or I didn't know what the questions would be. It's like,
- 1:43Speaker 1: I don't want to over-prepare for this because I don't
- 1:45Speaker 1: want to get locked in on... I studied chapters one
- 1:49Speaker 1: through three and the test is on four through six.
- 1:52Speaker 1: That's kind of what the NFL season feels like.
- 1:53Speaker 3: Agreed. Yeah, 100%.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Or one out for the Pro Bowl, a sad day.
- 1:58Speaker 1: I have a prediction on the now deceased... all-star game
- 2:03Speaker 1: for the NFL. I think 10 years from now, people
- 2:06Speaker 1: are going to be, people are already drunk with nostalgia.
- 2:09Speaker 1: If you look at all the remakes and Hollywood and
- 2:11Speaker 1: all of that, people are going to miss it. People
- 2:14Speaker 1: are going to forget how bad the pro bowl was.
- 2:17Speaker 1: And in about 10 years, if we're still doing this podcast,
- 2:20Speaker 1: I'll try and remember this. There's going to be pressure
- 2:24Speaker 1: for the NFL to bring it back from fans that
- 2:26Speaker 1: don't remember or weren't around to see how awful it was.
- 2:29Speaker 2: I just think once you have Mac Jones and Shador
- 2:31Speaker 2: Sanders as pro bowlers, it's over. But it was really
- 2:34Speaker 2: over once they removed it from Hawaii. Like the whole
- 2:36Speaker 2: point of making a pro bowl was going on vacation
- 2:39Speaker 2: with your family to Hawaii.
- 2:40Speaker 3: It was like an honor. And it was a big deal.
- 2:43Speaker 2: And once you move it to Orlando, who wants to
- 2:45Speaker 2: go to vacation to Orlando?
- 2:47Speaker 3: Like nobody, dude.
- 2:49Speaker 1: It's funny that you say that I live in Orlando,
- 2:51Speaker 1: by the way. And I do think we kind of,
- 2:54Speaker 1: I think we kind of ruined it. I think I
- 2:56Speaker 1: do think I, I host a local sports talk show
- 3:01Speaker 1: in this city. And I will be saying this to
- 3:03Speaker 1: my audience later this afternoon. I think that our presence
- 3:08Speaker 1: and our lack of care for the event sucked the,
- 3:11Speaker 1: and the fact that we're not Hawaii sucked the joy
- 3:14Speaker 1: out of it.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:15Speaker 3: You guys are Disney and stop trying to be anything else.
- 3:18Speaker 1: And all these players are like, they don't need the
- 3:21Speaker 1: Pro Bowl to go to Disney, you know? So we'll
- 3:25Speaker 1: pour one out for the Pro Bowl. Nick Lee covers
- 3:27Speaker 1: the Seahawks, the Super Bowl champion Seahawks. We'll talk to
- 3:31Speaker 1: him about that squad and the other three in the
- 3:34Speaker 1: loaded NFC West in just a moment. But first, a
- 3:38Speaker 1: word about the champion of sports apps, DraftKings.

- 4:19Speaker 3: DraftKings, the crown is yours.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Let's stay west to the NFC West and put this
- 4:25Speaker 1: division under the microscope with our guest and good friend,
- 4:29Speaker 1: Nick Lee, writer for Emerald City Spectrum. You can follow
- 4:33Speaker 1: him on X at Nick Lee 51. Nick, the last
- 4:39Speaker 1: time that we talked to you, the Seattle Seahawks were
- 4:41Speaker 1: not Super Bowl champions. And now look at you. You
- 4:44Speaker 1: got a beautiful hat on that dome. What's this offseason
- 4:48Speaker 1: been like? Take me back to Super Bowl Sunday. What
- 4:51Speaker 1: a ride.
- 4:53Speaker 4: Yeah, a few things have happened since we last met.
- 4:58Speaker 4: I think most of the offseason, even with, yes, we'll
- 5:01Speaker 4: get to the NFC West and the arms race going on,
- 5:04Speaker 4: but really for Seahawks fans, there's a picture that I've
- 5:09Speaker 4: saved on my phone. I've made it a sticker, actually,
- 5:11Speaker 4: and I send it all the time to my friends
- 5:12Speaker 4: when they start to annoy me about their NFL teams.
- 5:15Speaker 4: It's Mike McDonald staring into the Lombardi trophy and his
- 5:18Speaker 4: reflection is in the trophy with a big old smile,
- 5:22Speaker 4: just a million watt smile on his face through the
- 5:24Speaker 4: Lombardi reflection. The aura.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Yes.
- 5:28Speaker 4: And that has been the feeling in Seattle and the
- 5:31Speaker 4: Pacific Northwest with all the other stuff going on in,
- 5:34Speaker 4: in the NFC West and the NFL and sports in
- 5:37Speaker 4: the world. Um, that picture has really kind of brought
- 5:42Speaker 4: us back to, Hey, times are good right now. And,
- 5:45Speaker 4: especially with other teams trying to catch up to him,
- 5:48Speaker 4: trying to dethrone him. It's that smiling Lombardi reflection face
- 5:52Speaker 4: of Mike McDonald like they did it. But also, I
- 5:55Speaker 4: think it's also a reflection of Mike McDonald's not going anywhere.
- 6:00Speaker 4: I don't think the Seahawks are going anywhere. I mean,
- 6:02Speaker 4: they might have some things here or there to take
- 6:04Speaker 4: care of. But overall, yes, I went into that Super
- 6:08Speaker 4: Bowl Sunday very confident. And they got the job done
- 6:13Speaker 4: with an elite defense. And I don't think that defense
- 6:16Speaker 4: is going anywhere. So it's a really fun time to
- 6:19Speaker 4: be covering the Seahawks, a Seahawks fan. It's beautiful up
- 6:22Speaker 4: here right now in the summertime. It's not humid. It's
- 6:25Speaker 4: low 80s. It's a nice time.
- 6:28Speaker 3: I have told this story 9,000 times.
- 6:30Speaker 2: So I'm sorry for anyone who's heard it, but I
- 6:32Speaker 2: need to tell this to you personally because you.
- 6:34Speaker 3: Will enjoy it.
- 6:36Speaker 2: I watched the Super Bowl at a Hooters in suburban
- 6:41Speaker 2: Boston and And it got so quiet there at one
- 6:45Speaker 2: point during the fourth quarter that you could hear the
- 6:48Speaker 2: guys in the back clanking the forks in the sink
- 6:50Speaker 2: as they were washing the dishes.
- 6:55Speaker 4: That is music to the 12s ears for sure.
- 6:59Speaker 1: You could probably sell that as a solo track to
- 7:02Speaker 1: Seattle Seahawks fans, just the clanking of dishes in Massachusetts.
- 7:06Speaker 4: Especially with how Super Bowl XLIX went. It was especially cathartic.
- 7:13Speaker 1: I have, um, I have a hot take on this division.
- 7:16Speaker 1: I'm curious to get your, your feel on this. This
- 7:19Speaker 1: could perhaps be the best division in the history of
- 7:23Speaker 1: football going into an NFL season. I don't know if
- 7:26Speaker 1: that's overstating things. You have a reigning super bowl champion.
- 7:29Speaker 1: You have the odds on favorite to win the super bowl,
- 7:31Speaker 1: which is a different team. and the 49ers who've been
- 7:35Speaker 1: to a super bowl within the last three years with it.
- 7:37Speaker 1: And they're ascending in quality. They were really banged up
- 7:40Speaker 1: last year. The Cardinals sort of, they're like the lead
- 7:43Speaker 1: boot of the division, but is that going a step
- 7:47Speaker 1: too far to say that this going into the season
- 7:49Speaker 1: could be one of the best divisions in the history
- 7:52Speaker 1: of the NFL?
- 7:54Speaker 4: I don't think that's all that hot. Honestly, they had,
- 7:57Speaker 4: I think the best year of any division last year,
- 7:59Speaker 4: they have The NFL MVP in Stafford. Comeback Player of
- 8:03Speaker 4: the Year in Christian McCaffrey. Offensive Player of the Year,
- 8:05Speaker 4: Jackson Smith and Jigba. And both participants in the NFC
- 8:09Speaker 4: Championship game. Yes, the Super Bowl champion and the current
- 8:14Speaker 4: Super Bowl favorite. Three teams with 12-plus wins. All three
- 8:18Speaker 4: teams also won at least one playoff game as well.
- 8:21Speaker 4: Six total playoff wins. And also, moving into more of
- 8:25Speaker 4: this year, I think they have the top three head
- 8:28Speaker 4: coaches in the NFL. in the same division. I know
- 8:32Speaker 4: Andy Reid stands will get on me for that, but
- 8:36Speaker 4: I think that this is, it's going to be an
- 8:39Speaker 4: absolute juggernaut. Once again, I know that the Cardinals are
- 8:42Speaker 4: kind of the derpy dragon of the four-headed dragon here,
- 8:44Speaker 4: but they're cooking something up that maybe in a year
- 8:47Speaker 4: or two, they're building something that could be redemption. But
- 8:52Speaker 4: I think I agree. And with having the division be
- 8:55Speaker 4: such a juggernaut, there unfortunately does need to be a
- 8:57Speaker 4: doormat to where the other three can just beat on them,
- 8:59Speaker 4: and that's been the Cardinals. But I think they're poised
- 9:03Speaker 4: to have another three 11-plus win teams again.
- 9:08Speaker 3: All right, let's start with Seattle.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Can you give us your kind of TLDR, too long
- 9:13Speaker 2: didn't read for the olds out there, of the team,
- 9:16Speaker 2: what your expectations are of the season?
- 9:19Speaker 3: And now Kenneth Walker is gone.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Do you expect Sam Darnold to be able to play
- 9:23Speaker 2: at the same level that he did last year? Give
- 9:25Speaker 2: us a little bit of just a, I guess, spark
- 9:28Speaker 2: notes on the Seahawks coming up for the season.
- 9:31Speaker 4: Well, the biggest delta, of course, is losing Clint Kubiak.
- 9:35Speaker 4: I think that's fair to say. And while going from
- 9:39Speaker 4: Clint Kubiak to Brian Fleury as offensive coordinator, I'm not
- 9:42Speaker 4: sure that's a bad thing yet. Or, you know, it's
- 9:45Speaker 4: just an unknown. He comes from the Shanahan, San Francisco tree.
- 9:49Speaker 4: And that is obviously a huge question mark because I
- 9:54Speaker 4: think Clint Kubiak and Sam Darnold were peanut butter and jelly.
- 9:57Speaker 4: That was a really nice pairing because people went into
- 10:01Speaker 4: last year thinking there's no way Sam Darnold can repeat
- 10:04Speaker 4: what he did in Minnesota, and he still doesn't have
- 10:06Speaker 4: playoff success. And then Clint Kubiak and him linked up,
- 10:10Speaker 4: and it was a match made in heaven. So that
- 10:13Speaker 4: is a big question mark. I think that's very fair.
- 10:16Speaker 4: I am not as sounding the alarm-y... about losing Kenneth
- 10:21Speaker 4: Walker because, yeah, he went on a heater. He went
- 10:24Speaker 4: on a heater to finish the year, Super Bowl MVP,
- 10:29Speaker 4: but his overall body of work, he struggled to stay healthy.
- 10:34Speaker 4: He was never really like a top five, top seven
- 10:36Speaker 4: running back in the NFL, and I think he really
- 10:39Speaker 4: benefited last year from staying healthy and also sharing carries
- 10:43Speaker 4: with Zach Charbonnet, and they kind of kept each other
- 10:45Speaker 4: fresh until, unfortunately, of course, Charbonnet went down. Um, so
- 10:50Speaker 4: I'm not as panicking about that loss and really the
- 10:54Speaker 4: Seahawks lost like only one of their top 10 in
- 10:58Speaker 4: offensive snaps and one or two of their top 20
- 11:02Speaker 4: defensive snaps. I mean, people don't realize how much is
- 11:06Speaker 4: coming back this year. So it's been kind of a
- 11:11Speaker 4: little bit annoying as well. I know I'm talking out
- 11:13Speaker 4: of both sides of my mouth with, Oh, it's been great.
- 11:15Speaker 4: You know, the reflection of Mike McDonald in the, Lombardi trophy,
- 11:19Speaker 4: but I also think they're one of the more disrespected
- 11:22Speaker 4: reigning Super Bowl champions I have ever seen.
- 11:25Speaker 3: That's a good take. Yeah, that's a good take. All right.
- 11:28Speaker 2: So you don't really seem that, you know, upset about
- 11:31Speaker 2: the loss of Kenneth Walker. So does that mean that
- 11:33Speaker 2: you have high expectations for Darian Price this season?
- 11:37Speaker 4: I do. I think that just the structure in place
- 11:42Speaker 4: in Seattle, they have a solid offensive line, which If
- 11:45Speaker 4: you fast forward three, four, five years and tell Seahawks
- 11:47Speaker 4: fans you're going to have a solid offensive line, they
- 11:49Speaker 4: would laugh in your face. But it's finally that way.
- 11:52Speaker 4: They have all starting five come back. And I think
- 11:55Speaker 4: that is huge for a run game. And yeah, the
- 11:58Speaker 4: terminology is going to be a little different. Fleury has
- 12:00Speaker 4: a little bit of a different style. But I do
- 12:04Speaker 4: think Jadarian Price is going to be RB1. Maybe they
- 12:08Speaker 4: ease him into it a little bit in the first
- 12:09Speaker 4: few weeks with George Helani and in there. But overall,
- 12:15Speaker 4: I do think he's going to be a top 20
- 12:18Speaker 4: running back in fantasy. I'm not sure you should be
- 12:21Speaker 4: throwing around top two round pick on him, but you certainly,
- 12:25Speaker 4: I think you can comfortably take him in the middle
- 12:29Speaker 4: tier of your running back starters because just the volume.
- 12:33Speaker 4: He's going to get the volume and Seahawks have a
- 12:36Speaker 4: solid offensive line and they really were high on them
- 12:39Speaker 4: in the draft and They drafted it for need with Price,
- 12:42Speaker 4: but also I think it was a perfect marriage of
- 12:45Speaker 4: need and one of the best players available. And I
- 12:47Speaker 4: think he's going to be really thriving in that system.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Something I've talked to all of our guests about through
- 12:52Speaker 2: these previews is the schedule. I think that there is
- 12:55Speaker 2: such a divide in the NFL media world between people
- 12:59Speaker 2: who think the schedule matters and the schedule doesn't matter.
- 13:02Speaker 2: I'm very much I think that the schedule absolutely plays
- 13:05Speaker 2: a major role in your season. I mean, we saw
- 13:07Speaker 2: the Patriots having such an easy schedule last year and
- 13:09Speaker 2: it did them a lot of favors. I think it
- 13:11Speaker 2: can be the same with a difficult schedule. How do
- 13:15Speaker 2: you convince me that this over is a good idea
- 13:18Speaker 2: on the season with a schedule like this?
- 13:22Speaker 4: Well, first of all, the Seahawks lost just three games
- 13:26Speaker 4: last year by a total of nine points. That's how
- 13:29Speaker 4: close they were to 20-0, which is kind of mind-blowing.
- 13:33Speaker 4: And like I mentioned, they haven't lost a ton from that. Yes,
- 13:37Speaker 4: the offensive coordinator is a fair assessment of a big
- 13:41Speaker 4: question mark. But yeah, they open up the Patriots. I
- 13:44Speaker 4: think we all know how that's going to go. And
- 13:47Speaker 4: at Cardinals, probably know how that's going to go. At Commanders,
- 13:51Speaker 4: that's going to be tough. Then you come home for
- 13:53Speaker 4: the Chargers and Niners. And then at Broncos, then Chiefs Bears.
- 13:56Speaker 4: That's a tough stretch for sure. I haven't looked at the,
- 14:01Speaker 4: as far as money lines or projected, you know, spread
- 14:04Speaker 4: for any of that. But I'd be pretty surprised if
- 14:07Speaker 4: the Seahawks, you know, don't go six and two in
- 14:10Speaker 4: that stretch. maybe 5-3 at absolute worst, and then they
- 14:14Speaker 4: kind of go on a run, but yeah, the schedule's fair.
- 14:18Speaker 4: I do think they got some decent breaks with them
- 14:21Speaker 4: being a division winner, and there's that schedule structure. There's
- 14:26Speaker 4: a couple breaks in there, I think, that are good.
- 14:31Speaker 4: The AFC West is going to be a strong division.
- 14:33Speaker 4: I was listening to your preview on the AFC West,
- 14:36Speaker 4: and it's nice that they get the Chiefs at home.
- 14:38Speaker 4: I think that's a plus for them. At Denver, I
- 14:41Speaker 4: think A lot of Broncos fans probably feel like that
- 14:43Speaker 4: should have been the Super Bowl, and they're maybe out for,
- 14:47Speaker 4: I don't know, revenge might not be the right word,
- 14:48Speaker 4: but revenge for Super Bowl XLVIII maybe. But that's going
- 14:51Speaker 4: to be a tough one. So I agree. Schedule is
- 14:55Speaker 4: a big question mark for better, for worse, for teams.
- 14:59Speaker 4: I think the Seahawks did get an okay draw for
- 15:02Speaker 4: being a division winner and Super Bowl champ, though.
- 15:05Speaker 1: That seems to be the trend is that when you
- 15:08Speaker 1: look at the teams that won the division last year,
- 15:10Speaker 1: it wasn't necessarily the best teams in the division going
- 15:12Speaker 1: into 2026. And that's helped with some of the division
- 15:15Speaker 1: and winning schedules. The Seahawks do rank 23rd in terms
- 15:20Speaker 1: of schedule ease. So they are on the other end
- 15:24Speaker 1: of the difficulty spectrum in terms of, uh, if you're
- 15:27Speaker 1: waiting their schedule on Vegas forecasted wind totals.
- 15:31Speaker 2: So.
- 15:31Speaker 1: They do have it tough for sure. Everybody in the
- 15:34Speaker 1: AFC West and NFC West have it tough because they
- 15:37Speaker 1: all play each other. So it's all going to, all
- 15:39Speaker 1: of these teams are going to cannibalize each other. It
- 15:41Speaker 1: is hard to get to the window on some overs
- 15:44Speaker 1: with these teams in terms of their winning totals, just
- 15:46Speaker 1: because they all have such tough schedules in front of them.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Before we get to best case scenario, best way to
- 15:52Speaker 1: bet the team, we got to talk about the other
- 15:54Speaker 1: side of the ball, the losses on defense, Kobe Bryant, Moffay,
- 15:58Speaker 1: Rick Wolin, Can they overcome that? Also, some news that
- 16:01Speaker 1: we found out today, Leonard Williams has been tied up
- 16:04Speaker 1: to a three-year $ 90 million extension. But what are you
- 16:07Speaker 1: expecting in terms of defensive quality going into this season?
- 16:12Speaker 4: Well, the nice thing about Mike McDonald and teams, the
- 16:15Speaker 4: Sean McVeighs of the world, the Andy Reeds of the world,
- 16:18Speaker 4: you're never going to have probably a down year on
- 16:20Speaker 4: that side of the ball that they specialize in. And
- 16:23Speaker 4: I fully expect Mike McDonald, he was literally hired to
- 16:27Speaker 4: be the the anti-Kyle Shanahan, anti-Sean McVay, the kryptonite. And
- 16:34Speaker 4: while he hasn't figured out Sean McVay, because the Rams
- 16:38Speaker 4: got some serious points and yards in those matchups, but
- 16:41Speaker 4: they did beat him twice down the stretch in a
- 16:43Speaker 4: big moment. I think he's kind of figured out Kyle
- 16:46Speaker 4: Shanahan a little bit. So schematically, that's going to be there.
- 16:50Speaker 4: I just think it is. Talent-wise, yeah, like you said.
- 16:53Speaker 4: And losing one big storyline, people I think nationwide aren't,
- 16:58Speaker 4: quite following that is unfortunate for the Seahawks is losing
- 17:01Speaker 4: Bud Clark. And they covered him in hard knocks, snapped
- 17:06Speaker 4: his ankle, unfortunately, in that preseason game against the Titans.
- 17:09Speaker 4: He was such an energizer bunny on that defense. And
- 17:12Speaker 4: he was going to be basically the Kobe Bryant replacement.
- 17:16Speaker 4: And it really sucks to see him go down. So
- 17:20Speaker 4: I think talent-wise, they're still one of the more talented
- 17:22Speaker 4: defenses in the league. Don't tell Madden because they have
- 17:24Speaker 4: him at 10th. in the Madden ratings. I'm still not
- 17:27Speaker 4: sure about that. I know talk about this. It's been
- 17:30Speaker 4: a season, an off season of disrespect. And then Madden
- 17:33Speaker 4: is chief among the offenders.
- 17:35Speaker 1: If you're a, by the way, if you're DVO, a
- 17:38Speaker 1: truther out there, the fourth best team in DVO, a
- 17:41Speaker 1: history was Seattle Seahawks and their, their secondary. I remember
- 17:45Speaker 1: multiple games last year. The one against the buck sticks
- 17:48Speaker 1: out the most where the secondary was banged up. So
- 17:50Speaker 1: it wasn't necessarily a team that had injury luck. on
- 17:54Speaker 1: their side. I think there's actually more upside with this team.
- 17:58Speaker 1: So I'm gassing up your Seahawks. I'm, I'm, I'm with
- 18:01Speaker 1: you on the disrespect train. It's, um, uh, everyone's fallen
- 18:04Speaker 1: in love with the Rams. Let's not forget what Seattle
- 18:06Speaker 1: brings to the table.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:08Speaker 4: And Ernest Jones, I think is the most underrated off
- 18:11Speaker 4: ball linebacker in the NFL. I think he's got a
- 18:14Speaker 4: little bit more love with the, the all pro votes
- 18:16Speaker 4: last year, but just he's the heartbeat. He lost his
- 18:19Speaker 4: father in the middle of last year. And that was
- 18:20Speaker 4: kind of an emotional rallying cry for him in the defense.
- 18:23Speaker 4: And so, um, he's, he is an absolute leader. Him
- 18:27Speaker 4: and Leonard Williams are just the alpha dogs in the room.
- 18:32Speaker 4: And then you got, of course, the uber talent of
- 18:34Speaker 4: Devin Witherspoon, Nicky Manwari, just stay healthy kid. And we're
- 18:37Speaker 4: talking Kyle Hamilton, Derwin James.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Is he playing week one, by the way, do we
- 18:41Speaker 1: have word on that yet?
- 18:43Speaker 4: That is the golden question. I, uh, if I were
- 18:46Speaker 4: to put, you know, if I were to put percentage
- 18:48Speaker 4: chance on that, I'd probably say right now it's 50, 50. It's,
- 18:51Speaker 4: it's close. Um, He's just, I think it was yesterday,
- 18:55Speaker 4: finally had cleats, didn't practice, has that non-contact jersey and stuff,
- 19:00Speaker 4: but he's on the field running through some stuff. We're
- 19:04Speaker 4: less than two weeks away now, which is really exciting,
- 19:06Speaker 4: but for him, had this been a normal Sunday game
- 19:11Speaker 4: instead of a Wednesday game, I might be more confident,
- 19:13Speaker 4: but I think it's kind of 50-50.
- 19:16Speaker 3: All right, you're a Seahawks guy.
- 19:17Speaker 2: We've gotten some good camp info out of our team-specific
- 19:21Speaker 2: guests this entire preseason. What is your biggest takeaway from
- 19:25Speaker 2: following camp for the Seahawks so closely?
- 19:29Speaker 4: Man, well, I kind of feel like the world has
- 19:33Speaker 4: gotten a decent look if you're a hard knocks consumer.
- 19:38Speaker 4: The overall prevailing thing in camp this year is Mike
- 19:42Speaker 4: McDonald is the dude. He's in charge. He's got the culture.
- 19:46Speaker 4: He toes that line perfectly between tough and demanding, yet
- 19:51Speaker 4: caring and kind of a father figure and vulnerable. I've
- 19:55Speaker 4: never seen an NFL head coach toe that line so well.
- 19:59Speaker 4: As far as players.
- 20:00Speaker 3: You sound like you want to kiss him.
- 20:01Speaker 1: I do. I do. He's a handsome fella.
- 20:05Speaker 4: He is handsome. He is handsome. I sent a screenshot
- 20:09Speaker 4: to one of my buddies the other day who's a
- 20:10Speaker 4: Seahawks fan. There's a shot of him in the meeting
- 20:13Speaker 4: room at Hard Knocks, and he's doing some pose where
- 20:15Speaker 4: his arms are enormous. Did he just put the Super
- 20:20Speaker 4: Bowl trophy down and just go in the gym and
- 20:22Speaker 4: never leave? Because he... I don't know what happened between
- 20:26Speaker 4: the Super Bowl and now, but he has been in
- 20:27Speaker 4: the gym. Anyway.
- 20:29Speaker 1: I need heart eyes coming out of Nick on the
- 20:33Speaker 1: YouTube channel.
- 20:34Speaker 4: I love him. And he's just such a likable guy.
- 20:37Speaker 2: You literally just gave the little mermaid, but daddy, I
- 20:40Speaker 2: love him.
- 20:41Speaker 1: I love him.
- 20:42Speaker 4: But it's true because we see it all the time.
- 20:46Speaker 4: Some head coaches are fake. It's the fake rah-rah stuff
- 20:49Speaker 4: or they're way too on the nerdy side and don't
- 20:52Speaker 4: connect with players. And, uh, and players see right through
- 20:57Speaker 4: that stuff. He is just genuine and the players seem
- 21:00Speaker 4: to connect with him. There's some like conversations he's had
- 21:02Speaker 4: with Nicky Manwari on the show about his frustrations with his,
- 21:07Speaker 4: with his, uh, rehab. He handled that so well. And
- 21:11Speaker 4: I think, like I was saying, I don't know if
- 21:12Speaker 4: I mentioned this in the show before the Superbowl, but
- 21:15Speaker 4: he brings out this like nice guy, kind of like
- 21:17Speaker 4: almost like middle-class fancy. If you follow that vibe to him,
- 21:21Speaker 4: like just the dad, the Costco dad, uh, But I
- 21:23Speaker 4: think behind closed doors, he is a stone cold killer.
- 21:27Speaker 4: I think he's got, he's schematically.
- 21:29Speaker 2: It's always the quiet, nice guys. I'm telling you that
- 21:31Speaker 2: the scariest motherfuckers.
- 21:33Speaker 4: Because the shrine they have of all the helmets on
- 21:38Speaker 4: a spike of the teams they beat last year, that
- 21:41Speaker 4: is like psychotic stuff.
- 21:43Speaker 3: I'm always the most scared of them.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Yep.
- 21:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:46Speaker 4: So I think he's got this nice guy persona. He's
- 21:48Speaker 4: really good at connecting with his players, but he also
- 21:51Speaker 4: runs a tight ship. and he'll get into his players' faces,
- 21:55Speaker 4: and I think behind Cole's doors, he is a, yeah,
- 21:58Speaker 4: that's a great description, Kendra, and so that is obviously,
- 22:03Speaker 4: I think, the prevailing storyline is Mike McDonald's a dude,
- 22:07Speaker 4: and he's in charge, but I think it's more, if
- 22:10Speaker 4: we're looking at other storylines besides that, the offense needs
- 22:14Speaker 4: to get on the same page. There are a few
- 22:16Speaker 4: hints of, like, different terminology. The offense is breaking the
- 22:20Speaker 4: huddle late, and There's a shot on hard knocks of
- 22:24Speaker 4: JSN and his receivers coach kind of going back and
- 22:26Speaker 4: forth on some differences like that needs to get ironed out,
- 22:30Speaker 4: which is why we have a training camp in preseason.
- 22:32Speaker 4: All right.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Well, let's see the best case scenario for Ted Bundy
- 22:37Speaker 1: and his group would be, I mean, going back to
- 22:40Speaker 1: the Super Bowl.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Right.
- 22:41Speaker 1: I mean, this is pretty easy. So, yeah.
- 22:44Speaker 3: Best case scenario is winning the division.
- 22:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:48Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:49Speaker 1: This is where the disrespect is coming from.
- 22:52Speaker 4: Kendra, I don't disagree. I do think that they can
- 22:56Speaker 4: win the Super Bowl without winning the darn division.
- 22:59Speaker 3: I agree. Yeah, hell yeah.
- 23:01Speaker 1: I'm almost wondering which would be more impressive at this point.
- 23:04Speaker 2: I was going to say, I feel like it's probably
- 23:07Speaker 2: weirdly very Seattle if they.
- 23:09Speaker 3: Don't win the division and win the Super Bowl.
- 23:12Speaker 4: Right.
- 23:12Speaker 1: That'd be like the team that goes into the playoffs
- 23:14Speaker 1: with the chip on their shoulder might actually have a
- 23:17Speaker 1: mental advantage. I like that idea. All right. Well, their
- 23:22Speaker 1: ceiling is sky high. They won the Super Bowl last year,
- 23:24Speaker 1: so I don't need to spend time on that. Kendra,
- 23:27Speaker 1: best way to bet them.
- 23:29Speaker 3: I'm sorry.
- 23:30Speaker 2: I think that this schedule is way more difficult than
- 23:33Speaker 2: it seems. I'm going to give them a little bit
- 23:34Speaker 2: of a Super Bowl hangover. I got to say the
- 23:36Speaker 2: under here. I think whoever wins this division is going
- 23:41Speaker 2: to be a 10-win team. It's not that I'm disrespecting Seattle.
- 23:45Speaker 2: I just think between them and the AFC West, they're
- 23:47Speaker 2: all about to beat the shit out of each other
- 23:49Speaker 2: for 18 weeks, and it's going to be bad.
- 23:52Speaker 3: I think whoever wins this division is a 10-10-10. That's it.
- 23:56Speaker 3: I just can't get to the 10.5 too far.
- 23:58Speaker 1: 10.5 juice to the over, so you can lose the
- 24:03Speaker 1: vig at the sportsbook if you go the way of
- 24:08Speaker 1: the under 10 and a half. I like them to
- 24:10Speaker 1: win the division. I'll bet them two to one to
- 24:12Speaker 1: win the division. I at least liked the bed. I
- 24:14Speaker 1: haven't actually bet it, but, uh, I would, if, if
- 24:17Speaker 1: you were saying gun to your head, who do you
- 24:19Speaker 1: take to win this division? Two to one on Seattle
- 24:21Speaker 1: seems pretty wild to me. I just haven't placed it.
- 24:23Speaker 1: It feels overly square. to bet on the super bowl
- 24:27Speaker 1: winner in any way. So I haven't bet the Seahawks,
- 24:30Speaker 1: but I do support them internally. All right, let's move
- 24:32Speaker 1: to the L a Rams. They're over under sitting at
- 24:36Speaker 1: 11 and a half juice to the over with one
- 24:39Speaker 1: of the highest wind totals that's out there. Everybody's darling
- 24:42Speaker 1: this off season. They're the odds on favorite to win
- 24:44Speaker 1: the super bowl. And honestly, they might even have shorter
- 24:48Speaker 1: odds soon when they add Aaron Donald, which could happen
- 24:51Speaker 1: by the time we're done with this preview. If they
- 24:54Speaker 1: don't go all the way, Nick, what holds them back?
- 24:56Speaker 1: What's the thing that stops the Rams from doing the
- 25:00Speaker 1: thing that everybody assumes they're about to do?
- 25:03Speaker 4: Well, I, I was, I like to compare, uh, divisions,
- 25:06Speaker 4: you know, cause it's a family. You get to know
- 25:08Speaker 4: each other really well in the division.
- 25:09Speaker 2: Right.
- 25:10Speaker 4: Um, and I gave each one of these a persona
- 25:13Speaker 4: of like a family member that shows up to a
- 25:15Speaker 4: Thanksgiving dinner or a family reunion. The Rams are the
- 25:18Speaker 4: golden child. The aunts love him and kiss their cheeks.
- 25:21Speaker 4: Grandma thinks they can do no wrong and hands him
- 25:24Speaker 4: money all the time. He's successful. He's handsome. And he
- 25:28Speaker 4: dresses nice. But you, I'm talking about Seahawks Niners, you
- 25:33Speaker 4: know there's something a little sinister under that. You know,
- 25:36Speaker 4: maybe he has an opiate problem. Or maybe he's got
- 25:39Speaker 4: three maxed out credit cards. The therapist is working overtime
- 25:43Speaker 4: for him, you know. Yes, I get it. I get
- 25:48Speaker 4: why they're the Super Bowl favorites. They were really close.
- 25:52Speaker 4: And a few things break their way against the Seahawks
- 25:56Speaker 4: in those two last games. And then just in general,
- 25:58Speaker 4: they're playing and probably winning the Super Bowl. I get it.
- 26:00Speaker 4: And then they add, all they did was add Miles
- 26:03Speaker 4: Garrett and Trent McDuffie and perhaps Aaron Donald. So it's
- 26:06Speaker 4: common sense. I'm not offended as a Seahawks person that
- 26:10Speaker 4: they are the favorites. I'm not offended by that because
- 26:12Speaker 4: I understand.
- 26:13Speaker 1: I get it.
- 26:15Speaker 4: People just look at the sheet of paper. Seahawks lost this.
- 26:18Speaker 4: Rams added this. You know, I get it. But I
- 26:22Speaker 4: do wonder about the age of the roster. They're one
- 26:25Speaker 4: of the older teams in the league. Matthew Stafford is
- 26:28Speaker 4: closer to getting his AARP benefits than his draft day.
- 26:33Speaker 4: And there's a few problematic, like I mentioned, some problematic
- 26:37Speaker 4: things under there. The Pukunukua is starting to show some interesting,
- 26:41Speaker 4: and he's a BYU guy.
- 26:42Speaker 1: I love BYU.
- 26:45Speaker 4: And he's starting to show some interesting sides to himself
- 26:48Speaker 4: and Lark Jackson's in trouble. So they haven't had the
- 26:51Speaker 4: cleanest offseason either. But I get why the Super Bowl favorites.
- 26:56Speaker 4: And I do also wonder about their special teams. Will
- 26:59Speaker 4: it be special in the way that my mom described
- 27:02Speaker 4: me after I broke the sliding glass door? That kind
- 27:05Speaker 4: of special. Because that was really what sunk them last year.
- 27:10Speaker 4: They had the offense. Their defense was pretty decent. Okay.
- 27:14Speaker 4: Their special teams, that muffed punt against the Seahawks, I
- 27:17Speaker 4: think really flipped the script in the NFC Championship game.
- 27:21Speaker 4: And that is, and I think that's what pushed the
- 27:24Speaker 4: Seahawks over the edge, was yeah, they had the solid defense,
- 27:27Speaker 4: the solid offense. They had, the Seahawks special teams was
- 27:30Speaker 4: on point last year. And Rams, I think that's still
- 27:34Speaker 4: a fairly big question mark. So if the Rams don't
- 27:37Speaker 4: win the Super Bowl, I think it'll be father time
- 27:40Speaker 4: saying time's up. to perhaps Stafford and company. And also, yes,
- 27:47Speaker 4: special teams blunders can just switch games up. And if
- 27:51Speaker 4: you don't have that locked in, that can really sink
- 27:53Speaker 4: you in the end.
- 27:54Speaker 2: How much of a difference do you think adding Aaron
- 27:57Speaker 2: Donald to this team is going to make? I'm kind
- 27:59Speaker 2: of in the camp that he doesn't really move the
- 28:02Speaker 2: needle for me that much. I think he's just old,
- 28:05Speaker 2: been away from the game for a bit, rehabbing the
- 28:08Speaker 2: whole nine. It doesn't move the needle for me personally,
- 28:10Speaker 2: but do you expect it to move the needle for Vegas?
- 28:12Speaker 2: And do you expect it to really push this team
- 28:15Speaker 2: over the top as much? I swear to God, every
- 28:18Speaker 2: single day we're seeing a tweet. That's like Aaron Donald
- 28:21Speaker 2: worked out today. Aaron Donald had his Cheerios for breakfast.
- 28:24Speaker 2: Aaron Donald had a whole glass of milk today. And
- 28:27Speaker 2: it's like, okay, we, I get it.
- 28:29Speaker 3: I promise.
- 28:30Speaker 2: Like, I don't need to know when you're changing his nappy. Um,
- 28:33Speaker 2: let me know when he's in pads.
- 28:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:35Speaker 4: It's like the, they have his Apple watch workouts on notification.
- 28:40Speaker 3: He just took a shit. Like, all right, cool. I
- 28:42Speaker 3: don't care. Let me know when he's hitting somebody. Yeah.
- 28:46Speaker 4: Uh, Great, great question, Kendra. I don't think it's going
- 28:49Speaker 4: to move the needle a ton for me or the national,
- 28:52Speaker 4: you know, like they're going to, they're going to move
- 28:56Speaker 4: from being Superbowl favorites to being the Superbowl favorites. Maybe
- 29:00Speaker 4: the odds change it a tick, but as far as
- 29:02Speaker 4: on the, on the field, they're going to go from
- 29:05Speaker 4: one of the more fierce defensive lines to one of
- 29:07Speaker 4: the more fierce defensive lines. Also one thing that's underrated
- 29:10Speaker 4: as well, Jared versus a stud and the fact that they,
- 29:15Speaker 4: traded him in that deal. I don't think people are
- 29:18Speaker 4: talking about that enough as a, not, not a net negative.
- 29:22Speaker 3: The receivers in that division.
- 29:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 29:25Speaker 2: Yeah. That's a really good point. I did not think
- 29:27Speaker 2: about that. I was very much in that. I think
- 29:29Speaker 2: they got fleeced in that deal because I love Jared
- 29:31Speaker 2: verse and they're going to be able to keep him long-term.
- 29:34Speaker 2: And maybe if that's who knows Cleveland's another issue, we
- 29:37Speaker 2: don't have to talk about that.
- 29:38Speaker 4: Okay.
- 29:39Speaker 2: Anyways, great point by you. Both sides of this roster
- 29:43Speaker 2: are loaded top to bottom. Like they are, this is
- 29:47Speaker 2: to me, the best roster in the NFL. if there
- 29:50Speaker 2: is a concern and things are to go South, I
- 29:52Speaker 2: know you mentioned the special teams are a big thing
- 29:54Speaker 2: for you. I don't want to talk about special teams.
- 29:56Speaker 2: Where does it go wrong? Is it Matt Stafford's age?
- 29:59Speaker 2: Is it, you know, their secondary just does wind up
- 30:02Speaker 2: getting torched.
- 30:03Speaker 3: Where does this go wrong? If it goes wrong?
- 30:07Speaker 4: Yeah. Age is fact is a factor, but it's kind
- 30:09Speaker 4: of hard to say, you know, that's kind of hard
- 30:12Speaker 4: to quantify.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Right.
- 30:14Speaker 4: Um, the defense is, I think certainly more suspect than
- 30:18Speaker 4: the offense. The offense is going to be there. Like
- 30:20Speaker 4: I mentioned with Mike McDonald on the defense and Seattle,
- 30:23Speaker 4: I think same thing is true with Sean McVay on
- 30:25Speaker 4: the offense for the Rams. It's just going to be there. Um,
- 30:29Speaker 4: so defensively, yeah. Um, yeah, you can have them all
- 30:32Speaker 4: the miles Garrett's in the world. And, um, Omar, Omar space,
- 30:36Speaker 4: I think is, is, is a pretty good player and
- 30:37Speaker 4: Byron young and Kobe Turner, like that defensive line, uh,
- 30:41Speaker 4: former CEO couldn't afford, but yeah, cam kitchens, um, is,
- 30:46Speaker 4: is it, uh, I think a little hot and cold
- 30:48Speaker 4: Trent McDuffie. Yeah, I get that, that addition, but he's
- 30:50Speaker 4: not exactly the most perfect corner ever produced either. Quentin Lake. Um,
- 30:55Speaker 4: you can, he can be had too. So yeah, you
- 30:58Speaker 4: make a good point. I think secondary is probably still,
- 31:00Speaker 4: even with the addition of Trent McDuffie, I don't think
- 31:03Speaker 4: he like just magically fixes all of the, the issues
- 31:07Speaker 4: in the secondary.
- 31:08Speaker 1: No, I, the, I think anytime you get a team
- 31:11Speaker 1: that's as top heavy, uh, In the NFL, it's hard
- 31:14Speaker 1: to be top heavy and have depth. It's one or
- 31:16Speaker 1: the other. And the Rams are as top heavy as
- 31:19Speaker 1: could be. If they stay healthy and everything goes well
- 31:23Speaker 1: on the field, they're going to be the best team
- 31:25Speaker 1: in the NFL. It does seem like the depth could
- 31:29Speaker 1: be a problem. And rather than addressing that in the draft,
- 31:33Speaker 1: I was just going to ask this question.
- 31:35Speaker 2: But he's better than I.
- 31:37Speaker 3: Listen, are we? Are we?
- 31:39Speaker 1: He's not even the backup yet. He's going to beat
- 31:42Speaker 1: Stetson Bennett. I know you looked good the first week,
- 31:47Speaker 1: but this is a preseason MVP, though. If they get
- 31:51Speaker 1: dinged up, I don't. I think that their stock will
- 31:54Speaker 1: drop precipitously. That's the knock against them. That's the only thing.
- 31:59Speaker 3: With the $ 10 word, Kravitz.
- 32:02Speaker 1: Yes, you do.
- 32:03Speaker 3: Well, that's on us today.
- 32:05Speaker 1: Um, the fact that Ty Simpson isn't even the backup
- 32:08Speaker 1: to me is problematic. I want to read off some
- 32:10Speaker 1: of the names that they passed on when you, so
- 32:12Speaker 1: now that we get to know these names a little
- 32:14Speaker 1: bit better, if you're not a college football geek, Ruben
- 32:17Speaker 1: Bain could have had him Casey's Concepcion could have had
- 32:22Speaker 1: him Kenyan Sadiq Kendra's favorite player could have had him.
- 32:26Speaker 1: And instead they took what right now is their third
- 32:29Speaker 1: string quarterback, uh, Did they screw up in the draft
- 32:33Speaker 1: by not going for it even more than it seems
- 32:37Speaker 1: like they already are? And could that end up biting them?
- 32:41Speaker 4: Uh, that was one of the more head scratching and
- 32:45Speaker 4: mouth gaping open. Like I had, I had the, I
- 32:49Speaker 4: had the draft on my phone. I was driving. So
- 32:51Speaker 4: I was listening to it. And so I didn't know
- 32:52Speaker 4: before the, because sometimes you get the notifications before Goodell.
- 32:55Speaker 2: Actually, you know, doesn't even matter anymore. If you have
- 32:57Speaker 2: your Twitter notifications on, it's so true. Everybody, dude, everybody's
- 33:01Speaker 2: just freaking rap sheet is tweeting them out five minutes
- 33:04Speaker 2: before somebody's even on the clock.
- 33:05Speaker 3: Like, just let me have this.
- 33:07Speaker 4: It can literally be an email now.
- 33:09Speaker 1: You got to turn off the notifications on draft day. Yeah.
- 33:13Speaker 4: That's probably smart.
- 33:14Speaker 1: D & D or something.
- 33:15Speaker 4: No, I D & D it. when I heard them
- 33:17Speaker 4: say Ty Simpson, I bust laughing. Like, cause you know,
- 33:21Speaker 4: as a Seahawks, you know, covering the Seahawks, liking the Seahawks,
- 33:24Speaker 4: you want to know, you want to peer over the
- 33:26Speaker 4: hedges and see what they're, I went, you know, just
- 33:29Speaker 4: one of those. Cause I'm like, I'm sure, you know,
- 33:32Speaker 4: it's great when Seahawks fans are celebrating and Rams fans
- 33:35Speaker 4: are doing the McVay in the face and the play
- 33:37Speaker 4: sheet thing. And he, he was had that, that vein
- 33:41Speaker 4: in his neck was very strained as yes, he, we
- 33:45Speaker 4: liked this guy and, He, he, we liked him in
- 33:48Speaker 4: the interviews that strained neck.
- 33:50Speaker 3: It was a great interview.
- 33:52Speaker 1: Yes.
- 33:53Speaker 4: Um, he he's great at PR. I'll tell them that, um,
- 33:55Speaker 4: he's done a great PR campaign. That was a disaster
- 33:58Speaker 4: and it could, you're right. End up biting them. If,
- 34:01Speaker 4: if they, if their depth is tested, there are, I
- 34:04Speaker 4: think deeper teams than the Rams. They are. Okay.
- 34:07Speaker 1: And I, and I want to be clear. I at
- 34:09Speaker 1: least need to bring some sensibility to this discussion because
- 34:12Speaker 1: we have all we have done in talking about the
- 34:15Speaker 1: the short shot to win the super bowl is shit
- 34:17Speaker 1: on them. We're just trying to present the other side
- 34:20Speaker 1: because every other pod.
- 34:21Speaker 3: The schedule dropped Kravitz.
- 34:24Speaker 1: Every other podcast is just going to glaze them to
- 34:26Speaker 1: death until the season starts. So we just wanted to
- 34:28Speaker 1: present the other side. And of course, Nick wasn't going
- 34:31Speaker 1: to fight us on it because he's a Seahawks guy.
- 34:33Speaker 1: The other thing I wanted to mention is I'm curious
- 34:36Speaker 1: to see how this develops in the season. They are
- 34:38Speaker 1: the 13 personnel Kings. They sort of started this trend
- 34:41Speaker 1: of throwing three tight ends on the field. 31% of
- 34:44Speaker 1: the time last year, which doesn't sound like a lot,
- 34:46Speaker 1: but I'm pretty sure that's an NFL record. Is this
- 34:49Speaker 1: still an advantage for them? Or is this now like
- 34:52Speaker 1: every other trend, you know, he did the two shell
- 34:55Speaker 1: high safety thing. And then, and then often it's just
- 34:58Speaker 1: figured out how to adjust to that, to that defensive style.
- 35:02Speaker 1: Now that this has become such a discussion, if we
- 35:05Speaker 1: know it, the coordinators have already been working on this
- 35:08Speaker 1: for months. Is this still going to be the advantage
- 35:10Speaker 1: that it's been for the McVay offense?
- 35:13Speaker 4: I think it's one of those easy to duplicate, hard
- 35:17Speaker 4: to replicate, or whatever that is. Teams are going to
- 35:21Speaker 4: try it for sure. I think the Rams do it
- 35:23Speaker 4: very well, taking the Seahawks angle again. That's why Nicky
- 35:26Speaker 4: Manwari is so... He is the skeleton key of facing
- 35:31Speaker 4: the 13 personnel. He can take the tight ends out
- 35:33Speaker 4: of the game, and he can handle himself in the
- 35:35Speaker 4: run game and be out in coverage. Not every team
- 35:38Speaker 4: has that. So I think the response for defenses is
- 35:43Speaker 4: going to be try to finding that positionless safety linebacker hybrid.
- 35:48Speaker 4: Not every team has that. So I do think the
- 35:49Speaker 4: Rams will find success there.
- 35:52Speaker 1: Best case scenario for the Rams, much like the Seahawks,
- 35:56Speaker 1: when the division win the Super Bowl. I don't think
- 35:58Speaker 1: we're going to get a lot of argument there, and
- 36:00Speaker 1: we shouldn't. I think we have properly presented the case
- 36:04Speaker 1: of why not to bet the Rams. Kendra? best way
- 36:07Speaker 1: to fade the team that you are not buying. I'm
- 36:10Speaker 1: going to assume that the 11 and a half.
- 36:14Speaker 3: I gave it out months ago.
- 36:14Speaker 1: Even money that you can get?
- 36:16Speaker 3: I gave it out months ago.
- 36:18Speaker 2: I know that this number is probably just going to
- 36:20Speaker 2: get better as time goes on, but I am very
- 36:24Speaker 2: much in the camp that whoever wins 10 games is
- 36:27Speaker 2: going to win this division.
- 36:28Speaker 3: I'm standing 10 toes down on that.
- 36:31Speaker 2: And also, like, I'm sorry, Matt Stafford is just old. Like,
- 36:35Speaker 2: he's got to start to look his age at some point. Like,
- 36:37Speaker 2: it comes for everybody, man. I love him to death,
- 36:40Speaker 2: but yeah, him too, man. And Pukunuku, I'm Can't get
- 36:44Speaker 2: out of his own damn way. So I just there's
- 36:46Speaker 2: too much crap going on here.
- 36:47Speaker 1: Plus 105 on DraftKings for the under 11 and a half.
- 36:53Speaker 1: That is tempting. That is tempting. I was also looking
- 36:57Speaker 1: at Blake Corum touchdowns. I really like him.
- 36:59Speaker 2: We talked about this in a week prior, and I also.
- 37:02Speaker 3: Agree with you on this.
- 37:04Speaker 1: So his touchdowns are off the board. But if you
- 37:07Speaker 1: really wanted to slingshot this, you can take him for
- 37:10Speaker 1: most rushing touchdowns in the NFL at 80 to one.
- 37:13Speaker 1: So get yourself a nice little, get yourself a nice
- 37:16Speaker 1: little payday. If Kyron Williams would have to go down
- 37:19Speaker 1: in order for that to come home. Well, let's talk
- 37:21Speaker 1: about the San Francisco 49ers and Kendra's favorite subject. The
- 37:26Speaker 1: substation nine and a half is the wind total juice
- 37:29Speaker 1: to the over or not even to the season yet.
- 37:31Speaker 1: And it already feels like this team is falling apart.
- 37:33Speaker 1: Health-wise their wide receiver room got so bad. They had
- 37:36Speaker 1: to bring Debo Samuel back and the substation. is so
- 37:40Speaker 1: ruthless and gobbling up souls. Even their head coach got
- 37:44Speaker 1: hurt this off season. It's just madness over there in
- 37:48Speaker 1: all seriousness, Nick, you're as serious as I can make this.
- 37:52Speaker 1: Is this team good enough and will they be healthy
- 37:55Speaker 1: enough to match up with the NFC West elite?
- 38:01Speaker 4: Well, to give them a persona in your, your family reunion, um, they're,
- 38:06Speaker 4: they're the one that's, And people like them. They're talented,
- 38:09Speaker 4: but they're so dramatic. They are just the drama kids.
- 38:12Speaker 1: We all have that family member that shows up with
- 38:15Speaker 1: the neck brace on. They got the thing on their knee.
- 38:19Speaker 4: That's actually what I was getting to. They've always got
- 38:23Speaker 4: something going on. They are always telling you about their
- 38:26Speaker 4: last doctor's visits. Yeah, they got a sling at Thanksgiving
- 38:29Speaker 4: dinner and they want you to ask about it. And
- 38:33Speaker 4: if you're in line at the drive-thru, there's a ton
- 38:35Speaker 4: of people that if you're behind them in the drive-thru
- 38:37Speaker 4: lane waiting for your whopper and you kiss the bumper
- 38:41Speaker 4: of their car, he already has a neck brace on
- 38:43Speaker 4: complaining about whiplash as he gets out. So, yeah, 100%. And, wow,
- 38:49Speaker 4: what a wild off-season that continued this week. Jed York's arrest.
- 38:54Speaker 4: Kyle Shanahan's frightening crash and kind of mysterious crash. Brandon
- 38:58Speaker 4: Ayuk's gestures to all of it. and uh you know
- 39:03Speaker 4: some electric conspiracy.
- 39:05Speaker 2: Theories are you are you in on the conspiracy theory
- 39:09Speaker 2: before i yap yes or no you don't have to
- 39:11Speaker 2: get into it i'm not.
- 39:13Speaker 4: A huge conspiracy theory guy um i do think there's
- 39:18Speaker 4: something to do it's it's weird it's very well.
- 39:22Speaker 2: The starters on their depth chart are injured right now
- 39:25Speaker 2: and that's just the starters.
- 39:28Speaker 4: I i mean obviously the law explanation is their training
- 39:31Speaker 4: staff sucks, but, um, the, I actually, I'm having, I
- 39:36Speaker 4: shouldn't say, I don't believe I'm having a lot of
- 39:38Speaker 4: fun with this supposed conspiracy theory. It's got its own
- 39:42Speaker 4: X account now.
- 39:42Speaker 3: It's so good.
- 39:44Speaker 4: It's so good.
- 39:47Speaker 2: Oh, so.
- 39:47Speaker 1: It might be the best account out there. It is.
- 39:49Speaker 1: It's hilarious. It could be the king of Twitter.
- 39:52Speaker 4: It really... Yeah.
- 39:52Speaker 2: It's definitely the main character right now. We get a
- 39:55Speaker 2: new good one every couple years. Like, there was, like,
- 39:57Speaker 2: the God and the Satan fights for a while. And
- 40:00Speaker 2: then there was, like, that one old lady that was, like,
- 40:02Speaker 2: tweeting really unhinged stuff.
- 40:04Speaker 3: And now it's, like, the electric substation.
- 40:06Speaker 4: For sure.
- 40:07Speaker 3: Like, every once in a while, they filter.
- 40:08Speaker 2: Just moving. It's my favorite thing right now. But despite
- 40:12Speaker 2: the fact that they have so.
- 40:14Speaker 3: many injuries.
- 40:16Speaker 2: I don't hate this team. I think that their win
- 40:19Speaker 2: total is a little too sharp for me. I know
- 40:22Speaker 2: that Robert Saul is gone, but I just, I think
- 40:24Speaker 2: that this team is so well coached. We saw it
- 40:26Speaker 2: last year, dude, I'm the biggest Mac Jones hater in
- 40:29Speaker 2: the world, but I'm willing to admit that like he
- 40:32Speaker 2: was kind of slinging darts last year. And I wish
- 40:34Speaker 2: that he was still the Jags backup as much as
- 40:36Speaker 2: I freaking hate his ass.
- 40:37Speaker 3: You can clip this if you want to Gifford.
- 40:39Speaker 2: Um i will say something nice about mac jones one
- 40:42Speaker 2: time uh but like i just they're so well coached
- 40:45Speaker 2: i think that the depth is like fine enough like
- 40:49Speaker 2: it's honestly impressive how much depth they have considering how
- 40:52Speaker 2: many names are on their roster i just there's nothing
- 40:56Speaker 2: you could convince me of that this team isn't going
- 40:59Speaker 2: to cause problems for not just their division but the
- 41:01Speaker 2: entirety of their schedule no matter how healthy they.
- 41:04Speaker 4: Are that's very fair very fair um I'm actually kind
- 41:08Speaker 4: of feeling very similar. It's, you know, the baseball with
- 41:13Speaker 4: the trade deadline. Some guys, some teams like have a
- 41:16Speaker 4: guy that's on the injured list all year and then
- 41:17Speaker 4: he's about to come back and like, well, our best
- 41:19Speaker 4: addition is the guy that's coming back that has been
- 41:22Speaker 4: hurt all year. And I kind of feel like that
- 41:23Speaker 4: with the Niners where their best additions are a healthy Kittle,
- 41:27Speaker 4: a healthy McCaffrey, Nick Bosa, Fred Warner, that BYU guy
- 41:30Speaker 4: who I've, as a Seahawks fan, I don't want, I
- 41:34Speaker 4: want to hate him, but he's just very unhateable guy.
- 41:38Speaker 4: and brought Dre Greenlaw back. So they made some nice moves,
- 41:41Speaker 4: and I promised myself that I would say at least
- 41:45Speaker 4: one nice thing about everyone in the division on this show,
- 41:48Speaker 4: and they're too talented, too well coached, and yes, they're
- 41:54Speaker 4: going to have to overcome some extra forces that maybe
- 41:59Speaker 4: are working against them. But DeJuan Stribling as well with
- 42:03Speaker 4: Mike Evans, I mean, that could be a nasty receiver
- 42:05Speaker 4: room as well. He's nice.
- 42:08Speaker 1: He's really nice.
- 42:09Speaker 4: And Stribling is kind of turning into a little bit
- 42:11Speaker 4: of a rookie fantasy darling. So I don't know. I
- 42:15Speaker 4: also don't know if there's a betting market for how
- 42:17Speaker 4: often the substation is going to be referred to in broadcasts.
- 42:21Speaker 2: There's probably like one of the freaking trader markets.
- 42:27Speaker 4: I'm sure. Traffic jam or something.
- 42:29Speaker 3: I'm sure that there is. Okay. I don't hate that.
- 42:32Speaker 3: I just.
- 42:34Speaker 3: What do you think about a head coach? Like, do
- 42:36Speaker 3: you think that Shanahan?
- 42:38Speaker 4: Okay.
- 42:38Speaker 2: I have so many questions right now. Is there a
- 42:40Speaker 2: window closed? I think that that's my first thing. Like
- 42:43Speaker 2: there's just a piggyback off of the injuries before I
- 42:46Speaker 2: look at an angle at this somewhere else.
- 42:48Speaker 3: Is there a window closed?
- 42:49Speaker 2: I don't want to write them off before the season
- 42:50Speaker 2: even starts, but like, how do you recover from, from going,
- 42:55Speaker 2: starting your season, which is the healthiest you're supposed to be.
- 42:58Speaker 2: How do you get into a rhythm? Like their window
- 43:00Speaker 2: has to be closed, right? Like they're going to cause
- 43:02Speaker 2: problems for people. But like, unfortunately, I think this cast
- 43:05Speaker 2: of characters that we know, it just, there's no way.
- 43:09Speaker 4: Yeah, it's, it's fairly closed. It might be open enough
- 43:12Speaker 4: just barely for a fly to fly into the crack
- 43:14Speaker 4: at the bottom. But yeah, it's talk about father time
- 43:19Speaker 4: and father time can be accelerated with injuries. And, you know,
- 43:23Speaker 4: Christian McCaffrey is, How, how bare are those tires? You know,
- 43:26Speaker 4: that he's, he's been battered and bruised and still want
- 43:29Speaker 4: one of the better, better players. I'm not touching him
- 43:31Speaker 4: in fantasy. I'll tell you that much.
- 43:33Speaker 2: I'm not touching any of them except for maybe Purdy.
- 43:36Speaker 4: Yeah. Purdy low, low level. If you get Kittle as
- 43:40Speaker 4: like a, as your back end tight end kind of option,
- 43:42Speaker 4: but yeah, it's, I think their window's closed. Certainly with the,
- 43:48Speaker 4: the injuries they fight, fight through, And Shanahan's a great coach,
- 43:52Speaker 4: and I think he's going to get the most out
- 43:54Speaker 4: of what he can with guys that are healthy. But
- 43:58Speaker 4: especially with the rapid ascent of the Seahawks, who have
- 44:01Speaker 4: now leapfrogged them emphatically with beating him twice in the
- 44:05Speaker 4: last two games. Oh, they were injured. Everyone's banged up
- 44:10Speaker 4: at that time. And then the Rams. I think both
- 44:13Speaker 4: those teams have really just built above them in talent
- 44:17Speaker 4: and depth. And Kyle Shanahan is going to get his.
- 44:22Speaker 4: I actually do like the over, but just 10 and 7.
- 44:28Speaker 2: I was going to say, I know that Kravitz is
- 44:31Speaker 2: going to ask me what the best way to bet
- 44:33Speaker 2: this division is. And I'm going to say week to
- 44:35Speaker 2: week for them to cover some spreads or upset some people.
- 44:38Speaker 2: I just need to get a vibe check of the
- 44:39Speaker 2: team before I do that.
- 44:41Speaker 3: But I want to.
- 44:42Speaker 2: Have an open discussion about another potential option that I
- 44:45Speaker 2: have recently kind of talked myself into.
- 44:48Speaker 3: What does Kyle Shanahan need to do to win coach
- 44:52Speaker 3: of the year?
- 44:52Speaker 2: Because if this roster truly is this hurt and, And
- 44:55Speaker 2: they go out there and they do something similar to
- 44:57Speaker 2: last year. I don't foresee a situation where there are
- 45:02Speaker 2: as a situation like the Patriots or as many injuries
- 45:06Speaker 2: as there were last year for big quarterbacks. What does
- 45:09Speaker 2: he need to do to kind of, if this is
- 45:11Speaker 2: what their roster is going to be, is that a
- 45:13Speaker 2: decent look?
- 45:15Speaker 4: Yeah. I feel like he should have been on the
- 45:17Speaker 4: short list last year. Cause you know, 12 and five
- 45:21Speaker 4: with that.
- 45:21Speaker 1: Yeah. I, I, if you ask me.
- 45:24Speaker 4: If, if, what, you know, he won coach of the
- 45:26Speaker 4: year in 2026. What happened? He doesn't even have to
- 45:29Speaker 4: win the division. I don't think, but certainly.
- 45:30Speaker 3: I don't either. That's why I think if like their
- 45:33Speaker 3: roster is going to be. Yeah.
- 45:37Speaker 4: If he wins the division, I'd say probably a 10,
- 45:42Speaker 4: 11 wins. Maybe I guess they don't really do playoff
- 45:45Speaker 4: success as far as the coach of the year, but yeah,
- 45:47Speaker 4: 10 to 11 wins right in the division race to
- 45:50Speaker 4: the very end. I don't, there's a scenario. I mean,
- 45:54Speaker 4: I don't think he's going to win coach of the
- 45:55Speaker 4: year if they go like nine and eights with, you know,
- 45:58Speaker 4: all the, everyone hurts. I don't think that's like optics wise.
- 46:01Speaker 4: That probably won't.
- 46:01Speaker 2: Happen, but for me, it's him or the floor. So,
- 46:04Speaker 2: I mean, we're going to talk, Mike LaFleur, we're going
- 46:06Speaker 2: to talk about that in a second.
- 46:07Speaker 4: And LaFleur and J love, right?
- 46:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:09Speaker 2: I think that that's pretty much, those are the options
- 46:13Speaker 2: for me.
- 46:13Speaker 3: If you're looking for a future.
- 46:14Speaker 1: 35 to one for Kyle Shanahan to win coach of
- 46:19Speaker 1: the year. And I do think it would take him
- 46:20Speaker 1: winning the division and asking the 49ers to do that.
- 46:23Speaker 1: This year is asking a lot. I do want to
- 46:26Speaker 1: flip to the other side. There's so much focus on
- 46:28Speaker 1: Purdy CMC. Is he going to stay healthy? The injuries
- 46:32Speaker 1: to wide receiver. And yes, we've all fallen in love
- 46:34Speaker 1: with Dijon shriveling defensively. Yes. You lose Robert Sala. They
- 46:40Speaker 1: bring in a former head coach in Raheem Morris. And
- 46:43Speaker 1: I think that that might be, Maybe not a net positive.
- 46:47Speaker 1: It's not a net negative. I think they can at
- 46:49Speaker 1: least withstand a defensive quality with him, but they're going
- 46:57Speaker 1: to get a lot healthier. Fred Warner's back on the field.
- 46:59Speaker 1: Nick Bosa's back on the field. This defense was terrible
- 47:02Speaker 1: last year, but it's not because they have a bad defense.
- 47:04Speaker 1: It's because all their best players weren't on the field.
- 47:07Speaker 1: I think defensively they can be a lot better. Do
- 47:09Speaker 1: you see that, Nick, that this is a team with
- 47:11Speaker 1: some serious defensive upside that we saw none of last year? 100%.
- 47:16Speaker 4: Yeah. Like you mentioned with Morris, just the schematics, like
- 47:20Speaker 4: everything else the same, just a different voice, different mind
- 47:24Speaker 4: in the room on defense, I think will be huge.
- 47:26Speaker 4: And yeah, Dre Greenlaw and Fred Warner coming back. I
- 47:31Speaker 4: don't see them being 24th in yards per play allowed again,
- 47:35Speaker 4: which is what they were last year. And I don't
- 47:38Speaker 4: see them allowing as many explosive plays if they can
- 47:41Speaker 4: stay healthy. Yeah. They got some solid guys in the secondary.
- 47:45Speaker 4: Demodore Lenore is just an absolute thorn in the side
- 47:48Speaker 4: of certainly Seahawks fans. They really do not like Lenore
- 47:52Speaker 4: just because he feels like he matches up really well
- 47:56Speaker 4: with Jackson Smith and Jigba, which the data is a
- 47:59Speaker 4: little suspect on that, but that's for another day. He
- 48:02Speaker 4: is very talented and very good. And Upton Stout is
- 48:06Speaker 4: a good slot corner. So I do think that there's
- 48:08Speaker 4: going to be a natural, even if they have normal
- 48:12Speaker 4: bad injury luck, during the season, I do think there'll
- 48:16Speaker 4: be a natural rising of the tide for the defense.
- 48:19Speaker 1: Best case scenario for the 49ers, is it just stay
- 48:23Speaker 1: healthy and hope for the best?
- 48:25Speaker 4: Stay healthy, 9-10 wins, wild card. One of those teams,
- 48:30Speaker 4: if they're healthy-ish and they're on the road in the
- 48:33Speaker 4: wild card, very similar to last year against the Eagles,
- 48:36Speaker 4: the home team will be a little nervous.
- 48:39Speaker 1: Andrew, if you had to bet that either one of
- 48:41Speaker 1: these two divisions is sending three teams to the playoffs
- 48:45Speaker 1: and FC North and FC West. Who do you think
- 48:48Speaker 1: is more likely to do it?
- 48:50Speaker 3: Oh, West for sure. West for sure. Not even close.
- 48:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 48:55Speaker 1: I mean, you got two autos and then it's just
- 48:57Speaker 1: about San Francisco showing up.
- 49:00Speaker 2: I think we're also going to get some surprises. I'm also,
- 49:02Speaker 2: I'm not as high on the North as everybody else.
- 49:04Speaker 2: I actually think I I'm not as high on the
- 49:07Speaker 2: North as everybody else. I think it's Detroit and then everybody.
- 49:10Speaker 1: I do love me some North. So I'm in that group.
- 49:15Speaker 2: Don't listen to me.
- 49:17Speaker 3: I'm enamored to watch the NFC South.
- 49:19Speaker 1: It's true could you imagine all we need to do
- 49:22Speaker 1: i feel i feel like the 49ers should enter the
- 49:24Speaker 1: transfer portal or something if they were in either of
- 49:27Speaker 1: the souths we would love them but there's a realignment
- 49:30Speaker 1: to us yeah they need realignment to hit.
- 49:32Speaker 2: Fast They need to get away from the magnetic fields.
- 49:37Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
- 49:37Speaker 1: I try not to be a conspiracy theorist. I'm not
- 49:39Speaker 1: even sure this is a conspiracy anymore. I think the,
- 49:41Speaker 1: it's hard to ignore.
- 49:43Speaker 4: I'll say that much.
- 49:43Speaker 2: Listen, when Pablo Tori is doing like sit down interviews
- 49:48Speaker 2: on your shit, you know, it's, did you listen to that?
- 49:52Speaker 3: I did. I listened to the entire thing. I did.
- 49:54Speaker 1: I think there was anything conclusive from that, that you
- 49:58Speaker 1: can share with us in the audience.
- 49:59Speaker 2: Not as conclusive as I would like, but the fact
- 50:02Speaker 2: that I'm still on this train, I think says enough.
- 50:05Speaker 2: I think it's a mix between the substation and Dr.
- 50:08Speaker 2: Chow's theory, which is probably correct that like, they're just,
- 50:12Speaker 2: they have such elite athletes on that team that getting bigger, faster,
- 50:16Speaker 2: stronger on the same human frame is just, and.
- 50:19Speaker 3: They're just that team. They're crazy athletes.
- 50:23Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 50:24Speaker 1: Uh, best way to bet them. What you got Kendra?
- 50:27Speaker 3: I think I'm going to say coach of the year.
- 50:29Speaker 2: I think that this team is just they could really
- 50:32Speaker 2: go on a weird run.
- 50:33Speaker 3: And that's my fear with them.
- 50:34Speaker 2: I can't I can't love them with the injuries and
- 50:38Speaker 2: really get on anything. It's going to be a vibe
- 50:40Speaker 2: check in season for them to upset some people for me.
- 50:43Speaker 1: Well, they were they were vibing last last year, 11
- 50:46Speaker 1: and 6 ATS. That's what I mean.
- 50:48Speaker 3: That's why they scare me.
- 50:50Speaker 2: Like they really have the ability to go on a
- 50:53Speaker 2: hot streak and go on a run, but like their
- 50:54Speaker 2: schedule is just, it's, there's not, I don't love the
- 50:58Speaker 2: pockets of it.
- 50:59Speaker 1: Yeah. Good coaching, good quarterback play, good organization outside of ownership.
- 51:05Speaker 3: Our fans are assholes.
- 51:07Speaker 1: I think we can definitely bet them throughout the year.
- 51:09Speaker 1: I'm in the awards market as well. Give me Dijon
- 51:12Speaker 1: Stribling offensive rookie of the year, 13 to one, put
- 51:14Speaker 1: it in the app.
- 51:15Speaker 3: Like it.
- 51:17Speaker 1: Arizona Cardinals. We can make this quick fam rebuilding year
- 51:20Speaker 1: for them.
- 51:21Speaker 4: They are over.
- 51:22Speaker 3: I love this roster.
- 51:24Speaker 1: Oh my God. Well, then you're going to love the
- 51:28Speaker 1: over four and a half juice to the under. I
- 51:32Speaker 1: don't think anyone is delusional enough to think that a
- 51:37Speaker 1: new coach, Mike LaFleur, the offense, you know, has a
- 51:41Speaker 1: chance to be good, but nobody's delusional enough to, pick
- 51:45Speaker 1: them to actually do anything, right? Kendra, you're not actually like,
- 51:48Speaker 1: I get if you like they're over, but you're not,
- 51:50Speaker 1: are you betting them to actually accomplish things this year?
- 51:53Speaker 3: I don't even, I gotta be honest.
- 51:54Speaker 2: I don't even like they're over, but once again, this
- 51:57Speaker 2: is one of my favorite teams to get a vibe
- 52:00Speaker 2: check of week to week. They're going to be teams
- 52:02Speaker 2: that they shouldn't at times. There's, I would, I literally
- 52:05Speaker 2: love this roster so much, but their schedule, this is
- 52:08Speaker 2: a schedule team for me.
- 52:09Speaker 3: Like I am married to hating teams. Their schedule, they.
- 52:12Speaker 1: Have the toughest schedule in the NFL.
- 52:15Speaker 3: I was going to say, they truly do not get
- 52:17Speaker 3: a break.
- 52:18Speaker 2: I want to love them so much because I think
- 52:20Speaker 2: that they're doing the right things. They're investing in the
- 52:23Speaker 2: right places and, you know, getting vets in the right places.
- 52:26Speaker 2: I really think that this team is moving in the
- 52:30Speaker 2: right direction. It's just their schedule for me, but I
- 52:33Speaker 2: do think that they're going to win some games.
- 52:35Speaker 3: I just don't know if it's going to be enough.
- 52:36Speaker 3: I think even if they win.
- 52:38Speaker 2: Five games this season, if I'm a Cardinals fan and
- 52:41Speaker 2: I know ball, I feel good about that. What I
- 52:44Speaker 2: do want to point to, just because I know we
- 52:47Speaker 2: want to be quick with this because nobody cares but me,
- 52:49Speaker 2: I am in the Carson Beck Offensive Rookie of the
- 52:52Speaker 2: Year market because I think we're going to see a
- 52:55Speaker 2: similar situation to what we saw with Tyler Shuck last
- 52:57Speaker 2: year where he didn't start the season, came out, was
- 53:00Speaker 2: a gunslinger.
- 53:01Speaker 3: Pay attention to Carson Beck, dude. He's played a lot
- 53:04Speaker 3: of football.
- 53:04Speaker 2: I know that he is inconsistent, and he looks like
- 53:07Speaker 2: a complete moron sometimes when he's looking downfield, can't read
- 53:10Speaker 2: the defense, and throws the ugliest pick you've ever seen
- 53:12Speaker 2: in a horrible moment. But he's an old man as
- 53:15Speaker 2: far as being a rookie. He's played a lot of
- 53:18Speaker 2: football on a lot of good teams. He knows how
- 53:20Speaker 2: to play high-level championship football and be under pressure.
- 53:23Speaker 3: I'm telling you, watch this kid.
- 53:25Speaker 1: Wow. Hender came out swinging on the Cardinals just now.
- 53:30Speaker 1: fair enough.
- 53:31Speaker 3: Great dude.
- 53:31Speaker 2: Like Johnson, Trey McBride, Marvin Harrison's going to have a
- 53:37Speaker 2: comeback season. Jeremiah love is going to be sick as hell.
- 53:40Speaker 3: Their defense. I get dude.
- 53:42Speaker 2: Shout out Buddha Baker. I wish the Jags would have
- 53:44Speaker 2: traded for him a couple of years ago when he
- 53:45Speaker 2: was available. Do we wing guard like huge vibes guy?
- 53:49Speaker 2: Like do I think he's the most talented guy in
- 53:51Speaker 2: the world, but massive locker room guy.
- 53:54Speaker 3: Watch them.
- 53:55Speaker 1: 100-1 to win the division. I would have to have
- 53:59Speaker 1: our stats hound, Evan Abrams, check if that has ever
- 54:01Speaker 1: existed before. It feels like the longest odds I've ever seen.
- 54:06Speaker 1: Is there anything, Nick?
- 54:07Speaker 2: The year after, they will be my P words for
- 54:09Speaker 2: the 2027 season. I'm telling you, they will be my
- 54:12Speaker 2: Panthers next year.
- 54:14Speaker 1: Well, we'll get to week one bets. I do like
- 54:16Speaker 1: them week one against the spread. But Nick, third team,
- 54:21Speaker 1: 100-1 or higher, according to our stats. hound, Evan Abrams. Nick,
- 54:26Speaker 1: is there anything about this team that intrigues you?
- 54:29Speaker 4: Well, to give them a persona from the Thanksgiving dinner,
- 54:33Speaker 4: they're the cousin that no one really knows super well.
- 54:37Speaker 4: They show up and you get there, oh yeah, the
- 54:39Speaker 4: Cardinals are here. I forgot about him. Nobody knows how
- 54:42Speaker 4: he got there, who gave him a ride. Now he's
- 54:44Speaker 4: all of a sudden eating a potato salad before everybody else.
- 54:47Speaker 4: Maybe he has a few problematic Facebook posts, but also
- 54:50Speaker 4: he's got a nice smile if he would clean up
- 54:53Speaker 4: And you learn randomly he's got a master's degree in, like,
- 54:57Speaker 4: electroengineering or something, and he just doesn't have his life together.
- 55:00Speaker 4: But like Kendra was mentioning, I also do like the
- 55:04Speaker 4: core talent. Can you find me a better wide receiver one,
- 55:09Speaker 4: RB one, tight end one combination than those three? I mean,
- 55:13Speaker 4: that's pretty– if there's a list, they're very high on
- 55:16Speaker 4: that list.
- 55:17Speaker 3: It's a prove-it situation, but I agree.
- 55:19Speaker 2: If they prove it– My brother, if they get a quarterback,
- 55:25Speaker 2: if Carson Beck can be a dude, like, watch out.
- 55:29Speaker 1: Don't need to stop drinking.
- 55:32Speaker 4: And first of all, yeah, the Jacoby Brissett holdout was hilarious.
- 55:36Speaker 4: Maybe the most hilarious holdout of all time.
- 55:39Speaker 3: Ridiculous. I kind of love him.
- 55:42Speaker 4: He's got some FU energy, which, you know, it's refreshing
- 55:47Speaker 4: in a little bit of a way. But really the
- 55:48Speaker 4: biggest question is, Is the introductory press conference for Arch
- 55:52Speaker 4: Manning going to be him holding a red jersey or
- 55:54Speaker 4: a black jersey?
- 55:55Speaker 3: Nah, he's going to Miami. Malik Willis is going to suck.
- 55:58Speaker 4: That's probably fair. And I do agree with you, Kendra,
- 56:02Speaker 4: as well. You mentioned on the AFC West show that
- 56:05Speaker 4: Brock Bowers is tied in one in the NFL. And
- 56:07Speaker 4: Trey McBride is a very close second. I know there's
- 56:10Speaker 4: some avenues where you could shoehorn him into number one. Yeah,
- 56:14Speaker 4: I think... This is what I feel like with the Cardinals.
- 56:18Speaker 4: They have the skill position talent of a contender. That's
- 56:24Speaker 4: like buying the smaller clothes before I lose the weight.
- 56:29Speaker 4: The trenches and the defense. The trenches and the defense
- 56:35Speaker 4: need to be solid. If you put those skill position
- 56:40Speaker 4: players on a team that has their defense and trenches
- 56:43Speaker 4: figured out, that's a Super Bowl team. That's like a
- 56:46Speaker 4: Super Bowl skill level. They bought the sexy new clothes
- 56:52Speaker 4: without losing the weight first with some of the skill
- 56:55Speaker 4: guys they got.
- 56:56Speaker 1: Just shut it down right now. That was the line
- 56:59Speaker 1: of the podcast.
- 56:59Speaker 4: I love that.
- 57:00Speaker 3: Yeah, that was good.
- 57:01Speaker 4: That was good.
- 57:02Speaker 3: That was a bar.
- 57:02Speaker 1: It's all about manifestation. You will it, you will it
- 57:07Speaker 1: into existence. All right.
- 57:08Speaker 3: We're not manifesting right now.
- 57:10Speaker 2: It's eclipse season boys, not to talk about, you know,
- 57:12Speaker 2: Mercury being in reverse cowgirl or anything, but we're not
- 57:15Speaker 2: doing that right now.
- 57:16Speaker 1: Best case scenario is they don't have the worst record
- 57:20Speaker 1: in the NFL, 26% probability to have the worst record
- 57:23Speaker 1: in the national football league. But this team does have
- 57:26Speaker 1: some talent to Kendra's point. So I don't think that
- 57:28Speaker 1: they will. And, uh, yeah, I don't know. I can't
- 57:32Speaker 1: go any further than that. They cover some spreads. That'll
- 57:34Speaker 1: be best case scenario.
- 57:36Speaker 3: Oh yeah. I think, no, I think best case scenario.
- 57:38Speaker 3: He's right. They have, you know, RB one wide receiver,
- 57:40Speaker 3: one tight end one.
- 57:41Speaker 2: That's, that's the best case scenario for them is that
- 57:44Speaker 2: their pieces gel.
- 57:45Speaker 1: Best way to bet them. I do like them week
- 57:47Speaker 1: one plus 10 and a half against the chargers.
- 57:50Speaker 3: Same pod bet.
- 57:52Speaker 1: Let's get it. All right. It is time to plant
- 57:55Speaker 1: the flag on the NFC West. Plant the flag, get
- 57:59Speaker 1: it set up.
- 58:00Speaker 4: I'm trying to plant my flag here, okay?
- 58:02Speaker 1: You're really planting your flag on that thing. The best
- 58:05Speaker 1: look in the division, top tier, top of the line. Nick,
- 58:10Speaker 1: you are our guest. We will start with you. What
- 58:12Speaker 1: do you like the best in this division?
- 58:15Speaker 4: Well, as far as the over-unders, I first want to
- 58:19Speaker 4: also sprinkle in the Jadarian Price Offensive Rookie of the Year,
- 58:22Speaker 4: especially with if the Cardinals crashed the Ferrari with Jeremiah Love.
- 58:28Speaker 4: But the Seahawks, like I said, are the most disrespected
- 58:31Speaker 4: Super Bowl champion I've ever seen. And I know how
- 58:35Speaker 4: that looks coming from a guy with an Emerald City
- 58:37Speaker 4: football shirt and the Super Bowl hat. I totally get that.
- 58:40Speaker 4: And I'm sure I'll get Rams fans angry at me
- 58:42Speaker 4: for some of the digs I've made. But people seem
- 58:45Speaker 4: to remember Sam Darnold is 31-6 in his last two years. And, um,
- 58:50Speaker 4: my persona for them, by the way, with the Seahawks,
- 58:52Speaker 4: I didn't get to that, um, was they are the,
- 58:56Speaker 4: the younger or the middle child who just got a
- 58:58Speaker 4: promotion and needs everyone to know about it. You know, there's,
- 59:01Speaker 4: they bought a, something irresponsible to show it off a
- 59:03Speaker 4: new boat. They got a hot new girl and kind
- 59:06Speaker 4: of dumped his longtime girlfriend or something like that. Middle child.
- 59:10Speaker 3: Energy is hilarious.
- 59:11Speaker 4: Yeah, and a little overcompensation, a little inferiority complex with
- 59:16Speaker 4: dealing with the Bay Area and LA media markets. That's
- 59:20Speaker 4: kind of the Seahawks vibe there. So a little overcompensation,
- 59:23Speaker 4: a little inferiority. Hey, look what I just did kind
- 59:26Speaker 4: of thing. I get it. That's going to be them. Um, however,
- 59:29Speaker 4: and Kendra, your, your takes on how the divisions are
- 59:32Speaker 4: going to cannibalize each other. That's a very fair point. Um,
- 59:35Speaker 4: but I do think the Rams are the favorite to
- 59:39Speaker 4: win the division for a reason. And I think they do,
- 59:41Speaker 4: if I had to pick a division winners, probably the Rams,
- 59:43Speaker 4: but the Seahawks 10 and a half, I'm going to
- 59:47Speaker 4: take the over. That's my, I'm planting my flag on that. Um,
- 59:50Speaker 4: 10 and a half. And I'm not saying they're going
- 59:52Speaker 4: to go, you know, 14 and three again, 11 and six.
- 59:56Speaker 4: can the Seahawks go 11 and six fair point with
- 59:58Speaker 4: the schedule? Um, I just think the defense is going
- 1:00:01Speaker 4: to keep them in every single ball game. Is there
- 1:00:04Speaker 4: going to be an adjustment period with their offense? Maybe,
- 1:00:06Speaker 4: but their defense is going to keep them in every
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: single game. And that's one of those teams constructed like that,
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: where a few things need to go your way and
- 1:00:13Speaker 4: you can win a ball game with a defense like that.
- 1:00:15Speaker 4: So 10 and a half, I'm going to take, I'm
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: going to my plant. The flag is the Seahawks get
- 1:00:19Speaker 4: over that, but yeah, not, I'm not going crazy. We're
- 1:00:22Speaker 4: going 11 and six, maybe 12 and five, but, um,
- 1:00:25Speaker 4: The Seahawks continue to be slept on, disrespected. They got
- 1:00:29Speaker 4: the trophy. Will it be a hangover? Maybe a touch,
- 1:00:32Speaker 4: but this is still a really talented football team that
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: really didn't lose a whole lot.
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: Kendra, what about you?
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: I'm staying all 10 toes down on the under on
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: the Rams, ladies and germs. I just can't get there.
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: Father time comes for everybody. Aaron Donald doesn't move the
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: needle for me.
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: I will look at the, um, the substation for my nom, nom, nom.
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: I am going to look the way of the MVP market.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: I like Brock Purdy to an NFL MVP. I think
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: when you look at his efficiency over the last couple
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: of years, he's been elite best quarterback in the NFL
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: in terms of pressure to sacrate wet means that when
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: he needs to complete a pass and he's got a face,
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: a guy in his face, he's able to do that
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: EPA per play. on third downs, number one in the NFL.
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: And when CMC inevitably gets hurt, he will get all
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: of the credit for their offensive success. Give me Brock Purdy,
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: NFL MVP. Plant the flag.
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: Can I tell you something before we go?
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: I have to give you some flowers for a second.
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: You have had some crazy futures through these previews and
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: you have stood on them you are either going to
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: have the best fu season ever or you are going
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: to come crashing down in flames and i love you
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: for it thank.
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: You um i love you too i have about 20
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: units right now on nfl futures and so uh the
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: season we'll have some fun weeks 1 through 18 and
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: into the playoffs the year will be made on all
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: of the discussions that we have already had on this podcast.
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: So thank you. Hopefully, hopefully you're right. Hopefully saying it
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: with the chest out as a turns into some profit
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: for us. Thanks so much to our good friend, Nick
