- 0:00Speaker 1: There's something about the warm summer air and a cold
- 0:02Speaker 1: corona with lime that makes the roar of the crowd
- 0:05Speaker 1: sound a lot like the roar of the waves.
- 0:07Speaker 2: That's because this is our playa, and the best seats
- 0:09Speaker 2: are always wherever you're sitting.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Whether it's a weeknight game under the lights or a
- 0:13Speaker 1: Sunday afternoon in the sun, you know baseball isn't about
- 0:16Speaker 1: rushing around. It's about settling in, letting the game come
- 0:19Speaker 1: to you. And nothing pairs better than an ice-cold corona.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Nothing. So find your seat, your corona, and your lime.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Because real fans know the only thing better than nine
- 0:32Speaker 2: innings is extra innings, especially on La Playa. Corona. La
- 0:37Speaker 2: Playa awaits.

- 0:48Speaker 1: by Crown Imports, Chicago, Illinois. What up, y'all? I need
- 0:53Speaker 1: to tell you about this new sports trading app called Polymarket.
- 0:57Speaker 1: It's the best new way to trade in sports. In
- 0:59Speaker 1: the past, you wanted action on the game, you put
- 1:02Speaker 1: some money in, and if your team was doing well
- 1:04Speaker 1: and you wanted to cash out, they'd lock the trade
- 1:07Speaker 1: and take a huge fee. But Polymarket is a prediction market.
- 1:11Speaker 1: It's a stock exchange for sports, buying in and selling
- 1:14Speaker 1: out on your terms. When your team goes down to 20%,
- 1:17Speaker 1: you can buy in and sell it off at 40%
- 1:20Speaker 1: when your team comes back to double your money. I've
- 1:22Speaker 1: tried them all and Polymarket is simply the best. Better
- 1:26Speaker 1: than DraftKings, FanDuel, Kaoshi, you name it. They're so confident
- 1:30Speaker 1: you'll never go back to the other guys. They're giving
- 1:32Speaker 1: you a free $ 50 on your first trade when you
- 1:35Speaker 1: deposit $ 10. And now they've launched a new feature, squads,
- 1:40Speaker 1: a group chat where you can see what everyone is
- 1:43Speaker 1: trading on. So download the Polymarket app today and you'd
- 1:46Speaker 1: code Ross Rizzo when you sign up. That's code Ross
- 1:51Speaker 1: Rizzo to get $ 50 free after you trade just $ 10.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Let's go Polymarket. Trade them up.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Welcome back to another episode of Ross and Rizzo Unfiltered.
- 2:03Speaker 2: I'm Anthony Rizzo with my partner David Ross. This is
- 2:07Speaker 2: our last regular season show before Rossi. We go live
- 2:14Speaker 2: every day during the playoffs with series previews, game breakdowns
- 2:19Speaker 2: every day, releasing their show at 10 a.m. If you're
- 2:23Speaker 2: into October like we are, follow along with us. We
- 2:27Speaker 2: will give you our Expert advice.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Expertise. Expertise.
- 2:35Speaker 2: That's the word I was looking for. I'm still new
- 2:36Speaker 2: to this whole new, you know, getting used to this thing. Rossi,
- 2:41Speaker 2: what's going on? How was your week? How was your Friday?
- 2:44Speaker 1: Bro, great week. It feels like I had Boston, Cleveland.
- 2:48Speaker 1: It was cold up there. It was like packed house.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Cleveland's fighting for a playoff spot. Boston just clinched. It
- 2:56Speaker 1: felt like playoff baseball out there. We had a 1-0 game.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Great game. Good pitching. Chapman back. He looked phenomenal in
- 3:02Speaker 1: his outing. It felt like playoff baseball because of the weather.
- 3:07Speaker 1: It started to get a little cool, so I wore
- 3:10Speaker 1: my hoodie today. It was nice. What about you? You've
- 3:12Speaker 1: been running. I checked the gram. Did you get 16
- 3:16Speaker 1: miles in, bro?
- 3:17Speaker 2: Yeah, 16 miles.
- 3:18Speaker 1: What?
- 3:21Speaker 2: Yeah, we got the marathon coming up October 11th in Chicago.
- 3:25Speaker 2: I'm running on behalf of my foundation. Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation.
- 3:29Speaker 2: If anyone wants to donate, everything helps for pediatric cancer. But, bro,
- 3:34Speaker 2: this 16 miles was a grind. I did 20 last week,
- 3:37Speaker 2: 16 this week. That was the end of the long runs.
- 3:39Speaker 2: But I'll tell you what. This is not an ad.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Wish it was. Shout out, Bob, from Bob Does Sports.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Bro, I need....
- 3:48Speaker 2: The people's feedback on what to do for this chaffage
- 3:52Speaker 2: whole situation.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Oh, God.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Between the legs on the thighs. Bro, my arm, my
- 3:58Speaker 2: whole arm right now, completely just chaffed. So whatever the
- 4:05Speaker 2: special sauce is, I know you can buy some stuff
- 4:07Speaker 2: to rub on there. Maybe it's Vaseline or whatnot, but
- 4:10Speaker 2: I need help.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Yeah, let's take the line from... from major league little
- 4:14Speaker 1: bard all vagisil you know just get a little.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Get a little lube get a little lube under there yeah.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Like kramer jesic and uh put it under there to
- 4:25Speaker 1: to flow i bet i bet we'll get some hopefully
- 4:27Speaker 1: get some good uh marathoners on here that can give
- 4:29Speaker 1: you some good advice because i know that's a whole
- 4:30Speaker 1: world out there that uh i definitely know nothing about
- 4:33Speaker 1: and you're kind of coming into to i bet the
- 4:36Speaker 1: shoes the socks like everything i bet matter.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Oh yeah Bro, a lot happened this last few days
- 4:45Speaker 2: since our last show. We got both Chicago teams clinching,
- 4:52Speaker 2: which hasn't been done, I don't think, ever on the
- 4:55Speaker 2: same day. Shout out to the White Sox for their
- 4:58Speaker 2: incredible season against the playoffs. And then the Cubbies, not easy.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Ever since I said they should maybe tank and play
- 5:05Speaker 2: the Braves, they decided to not really score any runs,
- 5:07Speaker 2: so I was getting a little nervous.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Hey, I got a good line about that. You told
- 5:11Speaker 1: him to tank and I text Happer yesterday and a
- 5:14Speaker 1: couple of the boys, I said, Hey, congrats. And, uh,
- 5:17Speaker 1: Happer hit me back. He's like, just, just trying to,
- 5:20Speaker 1: trying to, to make Rizzo's prediction not come true. So
- 5:24Speaker 1: it was, it was funny. He's listening. Uh, shout out Happer,
- 5:28Speaker 1: you know, shout out Happer. Longest 10 year. Cub. His
- 5:33Speaker 1: last game at home. Uh, and during the regular season,
- 5:36Speaker 1: a true staple in Chicago, uh, Shout out to him.
- 5:40Speaker 1: That had to be an emotional day. Yeah.
- 5:42Speaker 2: So Ian Happ every day, every year, his last game
- 5:46Speaker 2: of the season in left field, he takes a baseball,
- 5:49Speaker 2: he signs it, and he puts a couple hundred dollar
- 5:51Speaker 2: bills in there and throws it out to the left
- 5:53Speaker 2: field bleachers to show his gratitude for them, for their support.
- 5:58Speaker 2: And this year I thought it was awesome that the
- 6:01Speaker 2: bleacher bums were all showing their support to Ian. They
- 6:04Speaker 2: signed a ball to Ian, throwing it to him. And
- 6:08Speaker 2: just the love there. You know, when you play in Chicago,
- 6:12Speaker 2: when you play for any fan base for a long time,
- 6:13Speaker 2: but especially the Cubs, you get, you know, ingrained in
- 6:17Speaker 2: that culture. And these fans come to know you and
- 6:20Speaker 2: love you. And the bleacher bums there at Wrigley are amazing.
- 6:26Speaker 1: They're loyal.
- 6:27Speaker 2: So that was a really cool moment for him.
- 6:29Speaker 1: That was cool. That was cool. I thought that was
- 6:31Speaker 1: really cool.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Show the love to the fans.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:34Speaker 2: And then, I mean, bro, the Cubbies, man, they clinch.
- 6:38Speaker 2: PCA joins the 40-40 club. We knew it was going
- 6:42Speaker 2: to happen, right? I mean, 45 homers, 40 stolen bases.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Here's the video. I mean, modified pitch out, too. And
- 6:57Speaker 2: safe by a mile.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Man, you could tell the fans were into it. As
- 7:02Speaker 1: soon as he took off, you heard cheers. And everybody
- 7:05Speaker 1: just kind of waiting on this moment. You know, this
- 7:07Speaker 1: guy has brought so much joy. And back to Wrigley
- 7:12Speaker 1: and the Cubs. But what a stud. The way he's
- 7:14Speaker 1: handled a lot of situations this year. You know, some good,
- 7:17Speaker 1: some bad. He's such a great model for baseball, I think.
- 7:23Speaker 1: And a good, so much young talent. And he's one
- 7:26Speaker 1: of them. And definitely, I feel like he's got the
- 7:28Speaker 1: MVP locked up, obviously. But 40-40 is an impressive stat.
- 7:34Speaker 1: to put on your resume and just going to be
- 7:36Speaker 1: one of many that this special year is going to
- 7:38Speaker 1: be in his trophy case. That's pretty cool.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Yeah, it's incredible. We had friends there sending us pictures
- 7:45Speaker 2: and videos of the whole scene there at Wrigley. And
- 7:47Speaker 2: this time of the year at Wrigley Field, it's electric.
- 7:49Speaker 2: So congrats, Pete. Seventh member of the 4040 Club. Let's
- 7:53Speaker 2: go over these names, Rossi. Barry Bonds, Alex Rodriguez, Jose Canseco,
- 7:59Speaker 2: my personal favorite, Alfonso Soriano. Ronald Acuna Jr. and Shohei Otani.
- 8:05Speaker 2: That is as elite as you can join right there, Pete.
- 8:10Speaker 2: So congratulations to you and your family that moment. Did
- 8:14Speaker 2: you see that moment after the game, him and his
- 8:17Speaker 2: mom hugging? It was like an extended hug and just
- 8:20Speaker 2: the love. After you clinch, it's such a great moment
- 8:25Speaker 2: with all your families when you get that time.
- 8:27Speaker 1: Yes, such a great moment in Wrigley. Matthew Boyd, seven innings.
- 8:32Speaker 1: looked really good, sharp, you know, Cubbies win two to ones,
- 8:34Speaker 1: a tight game, a perfect day at Wrigley, all the
- 8:38Speaker 1: celebrations you watched, you know, like that's, it took me back, right?
- 8:43Speaker 1: Like that's the stuff you miss, like being able to
- 8:44Speaker 1: party with the boys, such a grind over the 162
- 8:47Speaker 1: that you mentioned. And you get to celebrate, do the
- 8:50Speaker 1: beer and champagne, you know, all the, all the speeches,
- 8:53Speaker 1: all the fun stuff. I felt bad for Breggy. He
- 8:55Speaker 1: couldn't get any champagne in his eyes. So he was
- 8:57Speaker 1: dry and, But, you know, I'm sure he's ready for
- 9:02Speaker 1: another round and celebrate again. I do want to go.
- 9:05Speaker 1: I thought it was really cool that they pointed out
- 9:10Speaker 1: and brought to the center of the circle before they
- 9:11Speaker 1: popped bottles the training staff and the support staff. And
- 9:16Speaker 1: with what they've dealt with injuries, I've got a list
- 9:19Speaker 1: for you. And it's elite when we're talking about how
- 9:21Speaker 1: many days on the IL. Like, can you imagine if
- 9:25Speaker 1: the Cubbies had Justin Steele healthy, Cade Horton? Um, Matthew
- 9:29Speaker 1: Boyd was on the IL twice. Jameson Tyon, Eric Cabrera, uh,
- 9:33Speaker 1: Ben Brown, like the, I mean, they've dealt with some
- 9:36Speaker 1: serious injuries to the pitching staff along with Saya and
- 9:39Speaker 1: Dansby and, you know, the guys that have also been
- 9:42Speaker 1: on the IL and then the bullpen, uh, Porter Hodge,
- 9:46Speaker 1: Hunter Harvey's been out all year, Daniel Palencia twice on
- 9:50Speaker 1: the IL and Phil Maton. So like shout out PJ Manville, uh, Frange,
- 9:56Speaker 1: like all the guys in that training set. The training staff.
- 10:00Speaker 1: the guys, man, that, that was cool that they got
- 10:02Speaker 1: recognized because they dealt with some adversity. I liked what
- 10:06Speaker 1: Alex Bregman said. He said, we're calloused and ready to go.
- 10:09Speaker 1: You know, they've had some adversity they've went through. Uh,
- 10:12Speaker 1: and it's nice to have some, some of that during
- 10:14Speaker 1: the season and still come out in a wildcard spot
- 10:17Speaker 1: that they'll be in and be able to get to
- 10:19Speaker 1: the postseason and play October baseball.
- 10:22Speaker 2: No doubt. I mean, they're one of the best teams
- 10:24Speaker 2: in the National League, hands down. They have the best offense,
- 10:27Speaker 2: best defense. Their pitching is not so great, right, on paper. But,
- 10:32Speaker 2: you know, you got Gaussman and Clay Holmes at the
- 10:34Speaker 2: top of that line with Matthew Boyd, the three of them. Like,
- 10:37Speaker 2: they can take you deep, right? I think a couple
- 10:41Speaker 2: bullpen guys can get hot.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:43Speaker 2: So they have a good combo. When you clinch, what
- 10:48Speaker 2: I don't think fans understand is it's so many emotions clinching.
- 10:53Speaker 2: I think that's why you see guys celebrating so much
- 10:56Speaker 2: because you start this journey at spring training of 162 game.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Voyage, right?
- 11:03Speaker 2: And there's gonna be so many ups and downs and
- 11:05Speaker 2: it literally takes every single person on the inside, behind
- 11:09Speaker 2: the scenes to make it happen, right? It takes... Like,
- 11:14Speaker 2: I remember so many times before a game, I would
- 11:16Speaker 2: just be saying to myself, man, there's so many people
- 11:18Speaker 2: up in the concourse getting this game ready. People, the ushers,
- 11:23Speaker 2: seeing people to their seats, the food vendors, right? The
- 11:27Speaker 2: parking attendants to just make it so we can go
- 11:30Speaker 2: and play a two-and-a-half, three-hour game. So I always love clinching.
- 11:34Speaker 2: I love when I see teams clinch and really enjoy
- 11:36Speaker 2: the moment. With the Cubbies, though, I mean, last– Last
- 11:42Speaker 2: show I said about them playing the Braves, maybe it's
- 11:45Speaker 2: an easier route to get deeper. And it just had
- 11:48Speaker 2: me thinking, Rossi, and this is kind of a, I'm
- 11:53Speaker 2: talking to Cubs fans. We are not settling for a
- 11:58Speaker 2: three-game wildcard series at Wrigley. We are not settling for, oh,
- 12:02Speaker 2: we get to the DS again and our team's exciting.
- 12:05Speaker 2: That is not, Rossi, in my opinion, I'd take it
- 12:08Speaker 2: a little personal, that is not what we established there
- 12:11Speaker 2: with our group. of turning a franchise around and expecting
- 12:14Speaker 2: to win every single year.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Right.
- 12:16Speaker 2: We were expecting the world series and that's it. And
- 12:20Speaker 2: I know the guys on the inside there are expecting
- 12:22Speaker 2: that as well, but you know, they get to that LCS.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Great.
- 12:28Speaker 2: But we want a world series. Like I want a world,
- 12:31Speaker 2: another championship in Chicago. I said it when we did
- 12:33Speaker 2: the champions gate, hopefully there's a few more of those
- 12:35Speaker 2: champions there because the city deserves it. So, I hope
- 12:38Speaker 2: fans are not getting complacent with just a wild card
- 12:42Speaker 2: or a DS round for the Cubs because this team
- 12:47Speaker 2: is good enough to go deep.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Yeah, no doubt. No doubt. You hit it on it.
- 12:50Speaker 1: I mean, that's well said. And you hit it, too.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Those guys in that dugout see the ultimate goal as
- 12:57Speaker 1: being the World Series. So it's fun to talk about.
- 13:00Speaker 1: It's fun to try to plan it all. I still
- 13:03Speaker 1: think that the home field advantage is so important. These
- 13:05Speaker 1: guys got to switch from partying and celebrating to like,
- 13:10Speaker 1: we still have three games to play with.
- 13:11Speaker 2: They have a double header tonight.
- 13:14Speaker 1: What's that? Yeah. Yeah.
- 13:17Speaker 2: In Boston after celebrating and you know, that had to
- 13:20Speaker 2: be fun.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. They got some work to do and some,
- 13:23Speaker 1: some adversity still within the season. But I want to
- 13:27Speaker 1: go back to, we're talking about the city of Chicago,
- 13:30Speaker 1: the white socks. I mean, What a great turnaround. 2024,
- 13:32Speaker 1: they were 41-121. 121 losses two years ago. And then
- 13:34Speaker 1: 25-60 in 102. And then Will Venable coming in last year,
- 13:37Speaker 1: having that season, making the moves in 2026. They're 81-77
- 13:39Speaker 1: and playing for an AL Central first round bye and
- 13:41Speaker 1: a championship in their division. So Congrats to the White Sox.
- 13:58Speaker 1: They have been a young team that's been exciting to watch,
- 14:01Speaker 1: and nobody had on their playoff radar, and these guys
- 14:05Speaker 1: have done nothing but go out, again, have some adversity,
- 14:08Speaker 1: young players stepping up. The development of the pitching staff
- 14:12Speaker 1: has been really good. They've got some good young arms
- 14:14Speaker 1: that can be completely dominant, and it's been fun. Congrats
- 14:18Speaker 1: to Will Venable. I'm anxious to see. I heard Jesse
- 14:22Speaker 1: Rogers on TV yesterday saying, that Will Venable should be
- 14:26Speaker 1: the runaway manager of the year. I don't know about
- 14:28Speaker 1: that with what Chad Tracy has done in Boston, but
- 14:33Speaker 1: there's two really good candidates right there that aren't deserving
- 14:38Speaker 1: of manager of the year.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Dude, Morikami, Montgomery, and Vargas all have 30-plus home runs
- 14:45Speaker 2: for the White Sox. Maybe guys that the national baseball
- 14:51Speaker 2: fan aren't Under the radar, these guys are under the radar.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Morikami's been huge coming over from Japan and what he's done.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Montgomery and Vargas, 30-plus home runs. I don't know if
- 15:01Speaker 2: a lot of people know that. Look, on the other
- 15:04Speaker 2: side here, if you're a White Sox fan, you're happy
- 15:06Speaker 2: to be in. You're happy for a three-game set or
- 15:10Speaker 2: home playoff games, and you're excited going into next year.
- 15:14Speaker 2: It's crazy the expectations, how they're so different when you're
- 15:18Speaker 2: a team that's excited to be in. And whatever happens, happens.
- 15:21Speaker 2: But no matter what, it's a good year to where
- 15:24Speaker 2: you're the Cubs or the Yankees, Dodgers. It's all or nothing.
- 15:28Speaker 2: All or nothing.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Do you think the White Sox, I'm interested in this
- 15:31Speaker 1: Cleveland White Sox race. Do you think they've got enough
- 15:34Speaker 1: to overcome the Guardians? Guardians got a one-game lead on
- 15:38Speaker 1: the White Sox with three to play. I think the
- 15:42Speaker 1: Guardians have the Royals who are playing decent baseball. And
- 15:46Speaker 1: the White Sox got the Rockies who absolutely stink right now. But,
- 15:51Speaker 1: you know, it seems on paper that you would think
- 15:53Speaker 1: the White Sox would overtake it and the White Sox
- 15:55Speaker 1: own the tiebreaker. So, you know, they're in pretty good
- 15:59Speaker 1: position to win the division, which is another cool step
- 16:02Speaker 1: to get a bye for the first round of the playoffs.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, with the teams they're playing on paper,
- 16:11Speaker 2: you want to say yes, they do. But I just
- 16:13Speaker 2: think the Guardians, this is what they do every year.
- 16:16Speaker 2: And they're so battle tested, I feel like, with their
- 16:18Speaker 2: experience that these three games aren't going to phase them.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Steven votes going to play these games as one game,
- 16:23Speaker 2: playoff games and make sure they win one game at
- 16:26Speaker 2: a time.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Right.
- 16:26Speaker 2: So, um, not to say we'll Venable isn't, but I
- 16:30Speaker 2: just feel like the guardians are so they've been there
- 16:33Speaker 2: and done that. So I have to lean towards the
- 16:36Speaker 2: guardians in this situation, but it would be nice to
- 16:39Speaker 2: see the white socks. I think it would be, it
- 16:41Speaker 2: would cap off a great story for them all year.
- 16:43Speaker 2: And what I love about this white socks team is
- 16:47Speaker 2: whenever I see videos of them, um, circulating online, you
- 16:52Speaker 2: just see a group of guys that genuinely seem like
- 16:55Speaker 2: they love each other. And you don't always get that, Kate.
- 17:00Speaker 2: There's so many years where you're on good teams and
- 17:02Speaker 2: a lot of the team likes each other, but not
- 17:04Speaker 2: the whole team. And it just seems like that entire
- 17:07Speaker 2: White Sox team has really come together. And I believe
- 17:10Speaker 2: that's a huge part of why they're having so much
- 17:12Speaker 2: success this year, for sure. Yeah.
- 17:14Speaker 1: And they've got every guy on the roster is 26
- 17:17Speaker 1: or younger, which is crazy, right? And then They do have,
- 17:21Speaker 1: it does feel like they like each other, the culture there.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Not to keep quoting Jesse Rogers, but he was talking about,
- 17:28Speaker 1: he doesn't talk about culture too much, but that team,
- 17:30Speaker 1: it feels like they've got the right culture and all
- 17:33Speaker 1: the guys are on the same page and like each other.
- 17:35Speaker 1: And they've got some edge. I love some of the
- 17:37Speaker 1: young guys they have that have this edge and kind
- 17:40Speaker 1: of a grit to them. And I'm excited. I'm excited
- 17:43Speaker 1: for this postseason and the AL Central race is fun
- 17:47Speaker 1: all the way down to the wire, which is makes
- 17:49Speaker 1: it more exciting for us. Yeah.
- 17:51Speaker 2: How about, how about I just crazy, the white socks
- 17:54Speaker 2: or the guardians are going to get a first round
- 17:56Speaker 2: by and the red socks and Yankees to, to pretty
- 17:59Speaker 2: much 90 win teams are going to be going at
- 18:01Speaker 2: it to play the Tampa Bay race in the next round.
- 18:05Speaker 1: So that's crazy.
- 18:07Speaker 2: And then you have the American league West with the
- 18:11Speaker 2: Astros and the Rangers, the Rangers currently have a, uh,
- 18:14Speaker 2: they're tied with three to play. So that's going to be,
- 18:19Speaker 2: I mean, Astro's on the tiebreaker, so the Rangers need
- 18:22Speaker 2: a little bit of help. But that side, that bracket
- 18:27Speaker 2: of the AL seems like a cakewalk if you were
- 18:30Speaker 2: the Yankees, Red Sox, or Rays. You want that side.
- 18:34Speaker 2: But the side that the Yankees, Red Sox, and Rays
- 18:36Speaker 2: are on, any team can come out of it.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Well, that'll bring us to our polymarket pick of the day.
- 18:46Speaker 1: It's not too late to pick a side in the
- 18:49Speaker 1: AL West. A trade on the Astros currently is at 70%
- 18:53Speaker 1: to the yes. So $ 100 gets you $ 139. A trade
- 18:57Speaker 1: on the Rangers is only 34% to the yes. So
- 19:01Speaker 1: $ 100 would get you $ 281. I agree with the odds
- 19:06Speaker 1: and I'm going to go with the Astros. I just
- 19:10Speaker 1: feel like that little bit of playoff experience they have
- 19:15Speaker 1: around there. And, you know, if they pitch to Jordan,
- 19:18Speaker 1: we'll see if they do that. But, you know, Jordan Alvarez,
- 19:23Speaker 1: the year he's having, you know, it's always nice when
- 19:25Speaker 1: you've got an MVP caliber. I feel like caliber player
- 19:28Speaker 1: puts you over the edge. But the Rangers won't go away.
- 19:31Speaker 1: The Astros just can't seem to take– neither team can
- 19:34Speaker 1: seem to take off. So my polymarket pick of the
- 19:38Speaker 1: day or pick of the week, let's say, would go
- 19:40Speaker 1: to the Astros.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Well, Astros play the Twins. I'm sorry, Astros play the
- 19:45Speaker 2: A's and the Rangers play the Twins. So, I don't know.
- 19:49Speaker 2: I was talking to Jock Peterson yesterday saying, come on,
- 19:54Speaker 2: we got to get me in. We got to get
- 19:55Speaker 2: the Rangers in. I'm dangerous. He's a problem. Shout out
- 19:58Speaker 2: to Jock. 20, 25 plus pumps this year.
- 20:01Speaker 1: Friend of the program.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Friend of the program. I always tell Jock on a
- 20:04Speaker 2: contract year, he's always dangerous. So, but yeah, I mean that...
- 20:10Speaker 2: They get in, right? They play the last wild card seed,
- 20:14Speaker 2: which is either going to be the Guardians or the
- 20:16Speaker 2: White Sox. And then either the Guardians or the White
- 20:19Speaker 2: Sox have a bye, so whoever wins that plays them.
- 20:23Speaker 2: So it's like, God, MLB needs a receipt so bad
- 20:29Speaker 2: to break all this up, right? You want the best
- 20:31Speaker 2: teams to be playing as long as they can, and
- 20:34Speaker 2: the best teams don't even have a chance when they
- 20:36Speaker 2: have to play each other so early in the playoffs.
- 20:37Speaker 2: So that's going to be an interesting one. I mean, look,
- 20:40Speaker 2: this is what makes the beauty of baseball so amazing,
- 20:46Speaker 2: in my opinion, right? It's April 25th. You lose two
- 20:51Speaker 2: out of three. You're the manager, Rossi. The media is saying, man,
- 20:54Speaker 2: that's tough. You lost two of three to the Colorado Rockies,
- 20:58Speaker 2: a team that's not supposed to be good this year.
- 21:00Speaker 2: And you're like, yeah, it's just one series. We'll get
- 21:03Speaker 2: back on it. It's not just one series. It's not
- 21:07Speaker 2: every single game matters. Every one of them. And it's
- 21:13Speaker 2: coming down. It's proving again. It's going to come down
- 21:16Speaker 2: to the last game of the season, which there's going
- 21:20Speaker 2: to be tiebreaker scenarios all in play. It's the beauty
- 21:23Speaker 2: of 162, man. It's a long game. It's a marathon.
- 21:26Speaker 2: We're going to have a good finish here.
- 21:29Speaker 1: We love it. We love it.
- 21:31Speaker 2: Padres clinch a playoff spot. They're back in the playoffs,
- 21:35Speaker 2: back in the dance after their I mean, atrocious start
- 21:39Speaker 2: to the season, right? It seemed like none of their
- 21:42Speaker 2: superstar players were going to ever get another hit again,
- 21:45Speaker 2: and they are all well on their way. Manny has
- 21:49Speaker 2: been doing what Manny does. Tatis is hitting a home
- 21:52Speaker 2: run every other night, it seems like. That's, I mean,
- 21:57Speaker 2: they clinched at Dodger Stadium, which I know has to
- 21:59Speaker 2: feel good for them after seeing the Dodgers have all
- 22:03Speaker 2: their success, so.
- 22:05Speaker 1: And they're playing well, right? They're in that race for
- 22:07Speaker 1: home field advantage. They're leading the wild card right now.
- 22:10Speaker 1: I think the Cubs would have to go to San
- 22:12Speaker 1: Diego as how it sits right now, but they still
- 22:15Speaker 1: got a tough, I mean, Arizona's, they finish in Arizona.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Arizona's playing really good baseball, was chasing the Padres and
- 22:23Speaker 1: making it hard on them, but the Dodgers went in.
- 22:25Speaker 1: I thought the Padres, excuse me, the Padres went into
- 22:27Speaker 1: Dodger Stadium. I thought the Padres had the toughest schedule
- 22:30Speaker 1: the last six with the Dodgers in Arizona, and They
- 22:33Speaker 1: took two or three from the Dodgers after getting blown
- 22:34Speaker 1: out the first night. So they're hitting on all cylinders.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Their pitching looks good. Like you said, their lineup's deep.
- 22:40Speaker 1: They still got to go into Arizona and play good baseball,
- 22:43Speaker 1: and I'm sure the Arizona Diamondbacks would love to knock
- 22:45Speaker 1: them out. But home field advantage, I think, is the
- 22:48Speaker 1: most important here in this NL Central or in the
- 22:53Speaker 1: NL wildcard scenario.
- 22:56Speaker 2: I agree, bro. Just think about the three home field
- 22:59Speaker 2: advantages are Literally game-changing. At Wrigley, at Petco, or at
- 23:06Speaker 2: the bank in Philadelphia. I mean, no one wants to
- 23:10Speaker 2: go in there as a visitor in the playoffs. But,
- 23:14Speaker 2: you know, A.J. Preller, man, the Padres president of baseball operations,
- 23:21Speaker 2: he just keeps doing it. And if you're on that team,
- 23:25Speaker 2: you have to respect him. that he just continues to
- 23:28Speaker 2: believe in his team. They were dead at the deadline.
- 23:30Speaker 2: There was talks about Mason Miller getting traded. You know
- 23:33Speaker 2: what I mean? And he said, no, no, no, no, no.
- 23:36Speaker 2: I believe in this team. He goes out and gets
- 23:38Speaker 2: starting pitching, and the team turns it around. They've been
- 23:41Speaker 2: the hottest team in baseball for a while now. I mean,
- 23:44Speaker 2: if they get in and they host home field advantage,
- 23:48Speaker 2: it always seems like the Padres are a streaky team.
- 23:52Speaker 2: So if they can get that home field and get
- 23:55Speaker 2: the momentum– early in the playoffs I mean last year
- 23:58Speaker 2: they lost to the Cubs at Wrigley there was no
- 24:00Speaker 2: momentum right so another team in the National League that's
- 24:05Speaker 2: definitely a threat to make it to the World Series
- 24:07Speaker 2: and not win it.
- 24:08Speaker 1: And you know as well as I do momentum is
- 24:10Speaker 1: everything going into the postseason feeling good the guys having
- 24:13Speaker 1: good at bats feeling good in the box and the
- 24:15Speaker 1: pitching the pitching is going to make or break it
- 24:17Speaker 1: but their bullpen to me is one of the best
- 24:19Speaker 1: in baseball I mean they're absolutely dominant with Mason Miller
- 24:22Speaker 1: on the back end of that more home They've got
- 24:25Speaker 1: some absolute studs back there. And if they get past
- 24:30Speaker 1: the first round, I feel like they know the Dodgers
- 24:31Speaker 1: the best. When you're in division, you know those guys best.
- 24:34Speaker 1: And so I think that might be the best second
- 24:36Speaker 1: round or after the wild card would be the best
- 24:41Speaker 1: little kind of matchup. Not that I'm rooting for those guys,
- 24:44Speaker 1: but it is definitely a star-studded lineup that I feel
- 24:47Speaker 1: like can go toe-to-toe with the Dodgers, who seem to
- 24:50Speaker 1: be the Dodgers kind of come back to life a
- 24:52Speaker 1: little bit. Shohei's still struggling a little bit, but So
- 24:55Speaker 1: Mookie's starting to turn it around. Freddie Freeman's hot. Their
- 24:57Speaker 1: pitching's good. I thought Glass now looked really good last night.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Gave up some runs late that weren't his, but he
- 25:03Speaker 1: gave up. He looked really good. Let's see where Blake
- 25:07Speaker 1: Snell's at after kind of coming off. I don't know
- 25:10Speaker 1: if he's pitched since he came off the mound, but
- 25:13Speaker 1: the Dodgers look good. We're in the thick of it, baby.
- 25:16Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Yeah, yeah.
- 25:18Speaker 2: How about that?
- 25:19Speaker 1: Totally forgot about Tarek Scooble. That's a shame on my part.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Yep. But, I mean, Rossi and I are going all
- 25:27Speaker 2: in on the MLB playoffs. Every series, every game, every reaction.
- 25:31Speaker 2: We're going to be doing shows. We're going to be
- 25:33Speaker 2: doing preview shows. So, I'm really excited for these matchups
- 25:38Speaker 2: coming up, especially this wild card round because there's so
- 25:40Speaker 2: many different scenarios. That's going to be so much fun
- 25:43Speaker 2: to break down. A couple other big stories from this
- 25:48Speaker 2: week I feel like that are kind of getting lost
- 25:50Speaker 2: in the sauce is– The Red Sox and the Mets
- 25:54Speaker 2: hiring their interim managers and making them their full-time managers.
- 25:58Speaker 2: Congratulations to Chad Tracy and Andy Green on their new deals.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Congratulations to them and their families. I know a lot
- 26:06Speaker 2: of hard work to become a manager. Rousey, as you know,
- 26:09Speaker 2: there's only 30 of them.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Those guys getting, well, let's talk about Trace
- 26:15Speaker 1: real quick and coming into all that adversity and just
- 26:18Speaker 1: feeling like a calming force when things, you know, in
- 26:22Speaker 1: that market, as you know, it's a New York, Boston,
- 26:25Speaker 1: some of these media markets can be really negative and
- 26:28Speaker 1: it got pretty, pretty dark there for Craig Breslow and
- 26:31Speaker 1: that group. And for them to, to get on that run, uh,
- 26:34Speaker 1: actually when we were there doing Red Sox Yankees and
- 26:37Speaker 1: they swept the Yankees and just went on that, that
- 26:39Speaker 1: amazing run to get them back in the race. And
- 26:40Speaker 1: then I played real steady baseball. Uh, they need Wilson back.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Wilson Contreras having a career year for him, uh, highs.
- 26:48Speaker 1: He's over 900 OPS, uh, and career highs. And, Home runs, average, RBIs, runs,
- 26:54Speaker 1: all kind of stats is career high for him. So
- 26:57Speaker 1: I think he'll be back this weekend against the Cubs
- 27:01Speaker 1: and get him back locked in. They need that bat,
- 27:04Speaker 1: but their pitching is elite. Garrett Crochet, I watched him
- 27:08Speaker 1: throw a live BP up to 94, 96. They're talking
- 27:12Speaker 1: about maybe him being a bridge guy, if he can
- 27:14Speaker 1: bounce back in the bullpen, adding to Garrett Whitlock and
- 27:19Speaker 1: Broadus Chapman look phenomenal, as we talked about. Like, that
- 27:23Speaker 1: Red Sox team is really in on a cylinder. So,
- 27:26Speaker 1: congratulations to Chad Tracy. And my guy Andy Green in
- 27:29Speaker 1: New York. So pumped for him. Getting back in the dugout. Well-deserved.
- 27:35Speaker 1: He's such a calming force. Knowing... those guys that have
- 27:38Speaker 1: come in from the Meyer leagues, directing those guys, uh,
- 27:41Speaker 1: or watching them kind of get drafted and developed. And
- 27:43Speaker 1: now he's got a lot of those guys, um, on
- 27:46Speaker 1: his team and watching those guys perform young, young studs. So, um,
- 27:50Speaker 1: congrats to the two managers got extensions. Uh, we always
- 27:53Speaker 1: like to give shout outs there. It's hard to, it's
- 27:55Speaker 1: hard to, like you said, get that job and then
- 27:57Speaker 1: have some success. So, um, congrats to both.
- 28:00Speaker 2: I think what Chad Tracy's done there in Boston has
- 28:03Speaker 2: been really incredible. That, that whole turnaround, um, doing games there.
- 28:08Speaker 2: I did a game there with NBC early in the
- 28:11Speaker 2: season where this team was just completely dog shit. Sell them.
- 28:16Speaker 2: Sell the team. People going after John Henry's head, calling
- 28:21Speaker 2: for Craig Breslow. They fire Alex Cora. Then I'm there
- 28:25Speaker 2: when they sweep the Yankees. We were there, Rossi, which
- 28:29Speaker 2: was kind of their turnaround. I think it was their turnaround. Really,
- 28:32Speaker 2: they had a weird game in Colorado and some flight
- 28:34Speaker 2: issues that turned it around, and Caleb Durbin had a
- 28:38Speaker 2: broken pinky, I believe it was, and they were going
- 28:41Speaker 2: to give him off, and he said, no, I'm playing,
- 28:43Speaker 2: and then goes, hits a home run the next day
- 28:44Speaker 2: versus Cam Schlitter, which is a lot of people on
- 28:47Speaker 2: the inside there saying that was a big turnaround for
- 28:49Speaker 2: that team, but what Chad Tracy's done, how he's gotten
- 28:53Speaker 2: his guys together, saying, hey, this is what we're not
- 28:55Speaker 2: doing well, let's talk about it, right? It seems like
- 28:58Speaker 2: his communication from what I've gathered talking to him, as
- 29:03Speaker 2: a former player, Rossi, I was I was lit up like, wow,
- 29:07Speaker 2: this guy gets it, man. I know his dad. Jim
- 29:11Speaker 2: was a manager for a long time, played in the
- 29:14Speaker 2: game for a long time, and he grew up in
- 29:15Speaker 2: the game, but it is not easy to.
- 29:17Speaker 1: Yeah, Jim Tracy was my first... Black and white TV. Yeah, oh, God.
- 29:27Speaker 2: I love you so much. The communication is everything, right,
- 29:30Speaker 2: for big leaguers, and it seems like Trace has done
- 29:35Speaker 2: that and congrats to him and Greeny coming in. with
- 29:40Speaker 2: the Mets, this one for me, and I love Andy Green,
- 29:44Speaker 2: this one for me is kind of a head-scratcher, Rossi,
- 29:48Speaker 2: because they started out saying this is just a two-month rental, right?
- 29:54Speaker 2: I'm not taking the job afterwards. I'm just here to
- 29:57Speaker 2: fill the gap. and I'll be back in the front office, right?
- 30:02Speaker 2: That's what David Stern says. That's what Andy Green said. Obviously,
- 30:05Speaker 2: this is what they say. That's not what anyone knows.
- 30:07Speaker 2: Obviously not. But why not wait till the offseason and
- 30:13Speaker 2: go and interview a few people and then name Greeny
- 30:18Speaker 2: the manager, right? Which they believe in Andy Green that much,
- 30:23Speaker 2: and the player feedback must be that high of him,
- 30:27Speaker 2: that the players love him, that He got that job,
- 30:29Speaker 2: so shout out to Greeny. That was a head-scratcher to me, thinking,
- 30:32Speaker 2: why not go out and see who's available? Maybe call D.
- 30:36Speaker 2: Ross over there. That one just seemed a little weird.
- 30:42Speaker 1: I talked to Andy a little bit. We did their
- 30:45Speaker 1: game two weeks ago with Baltimore. I talked to him
- 30:49Speaker 1: a little bit. He's a buddy, and I don't think
- 30:53Speaker 1: anything changed on his end. I think it was a
- 30:56Speaker 1: big family decision. He's got two his twins, his youngest
- 31:00Speaker 1: to our seniors and graduating and wanted to like, you know,
- 31:05Speaker 1: I think if he would have went back to the
- 31:07Speaker 1: front office, there's a good chance he was going to
- 31:09Speaker 1: get the GM job. Uh, and they just hired, uh,
- 31:13Speaker 1: I'm blanking on the name. Um, but from, from the twins, um,
- 31:18Speaker 1: I'll think about that guy, Chris Trantho in the chat, but, um,
- 31:22Speaker 1: you know, he was going to have to move to
- 31:24Speaker 1: New York to be the GM, um, in theory, uh,
- 31:28Speaker 1: be around David Stearns all the time. And I think
- 31:31Speaker 1: his family got on board more than he changed his mind.
- 31:34Speaker 1: I think they were enjoying seeing his success. He probably,
- 31:37Speaker 1: at the end of the day, loved being down there.
- 31:39Speaker 1: I think it was less about his decision and more
- 31:42Speaker 1: about his family and making sure they're on board. Derek Falvey.
- 31:46Speaker 1: Thank you. Thanks.
- 31:47Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, that's awesome for him. We had Greeny
- 31:50Speaker 2: in Chicago. He was your bench coach and I loved him.
- 31:55Speaker 2: He was awesome. And I saw his comments. when he
- 31:57Speaker 2: first had the job, his first open presser with the Mets,
- 32:01Speaker 2: and he was like, look, I've learned a lot from
- 32:03Speaker 2: my first time managing. There's things I'm going to do differently.
- 32:07Speaker 2: I've had a lot of time to reflect on it.
- 32:09Speaker 2: So I feel like a lot of time for these managers,
- 32:12Speaker 2: the second time around, they kind of can really look
- 32:15Speaker 2: back at what went on the first time and pick
- 32:19Speaker 2: and choose what they want to take with them. So
- 32:22Speaker 2: hopefully for the Mets, this is, you know, he's there
- 32:27Speaker 2: for a long time and the Mets can turn it
- 32:29Speaker 2: around because I just do feel like when, when the
- 32:32Speaker 2: big markets are good, seeing the Mets be good, um,
- 32:37Speaker 2: and competing for, for championships year in and year out
- 32:40Speaker 2: just makes the game better.
- 32:41Speaker 1: So, yeah. Well, we went in there in 15 when
- 32:44Speaker 1: that place is rocking, it's tough. It's a tough place
- 32:47Speaker 1: to play.
- 32:48Speaker 2: So, Oh, no doubt, bro.
- 32:49Speaker 1: No doubt.
- 32:50Speaker 2: And they, and coming from a, coming from a, um,
- 32:54Speaker 2: a Miami dolphins fan. I know what it's like to
- 32:57Speaker 2: be starved of greatness. So I can relate to the
- 33:00Speaker 2: Mets fans and most Mets fans here are also jets fans.
- 33:04Speaker 2: So they have nothing really to look like the Mets
- 33:07Speaker 2: are all they have to look forward to.
- 33:09Speaker 1: So, well now with Jackson dark and hurt, even if
- 33:11Speaker 1: you're a giant, like it's, it's, it's not, it's not
- 33:14Speaker 1: looking good, but yeah, shout out, shout out green. The
- 33:18Speaker 1: one thing I want to comment on, you made a
- 33:20Speaker 1: really good point right there just from sitting in the seat. Like,
- 33:23Speaker 1: When you get out of the seat of being a
- 33:26Speaker 1: manager and you're able to reflect and watch kind of
- 33:29Speaker 1: unbiasedly and without that trying to win every second and
- 33:32Speaker 1: every pitch from the manager and every little angle you
- 33:35Speaker 1: can possibly wrap your brain around, there is this kind
- 33:40Speaker 1: of like, oh, I would do this differently or I'd
- 33:42Speaker 1: do that differently or watching other guys, how they do things.
- 33:46Speaker 1: I think even I talked to Scott Harris a little bit,
- 33:49Speaker 1: as I know you do, And he had Gabe Kapler
- 33:53Speaker 1: in San Francisco in his second time. And we've talked
- 33:55Speaker 1: a little bit like, you know, they've had deep conversations
- 33:58Speaker 1: about second time managing. You definitely look at things a
- 34:01Speaker 1: little bit differently and learn a lot when you're able
- 34:02Speaker 1: to step back for a minute.
- 34:04Speaker 2: Yeah, no doubt. And I'm sure Greeny has. And look, Greeny,
- 34:07Speaker 2: I love him. Bright man for the job. He's been
- 34:10Speaker 2: great since he's been there. So hopefully they go into
- 34:13Speaker 2: the offseason and gain a lot of momentum because it
- 34:15Speaker 2: seems like the guys love him there.
- 34:16Speaker 1: Guys.
- 34:16Speaker 2: Guys.
- 34:17Speaker 1: We were on the number one team in the world,

- 35:13Speaker 2: A couple of controversial things going on around the league, Rossi.
- 35:16Speaker 1: Drama for your mama.
- 35:18Speaker 2: Which I think is just blown out of proportion. But
- 35:20Speaker 2: when you're a superstar, these things happen. Vladdy Guerrero Jr.
- 35:24Speaker 2: 's comments about his $ 500 million contract saying that they're
- 35:30Speaker 2: paying me for what I already did, not what I'm
- 35:32Speaker 2: going to do. How about that? I think Rossi, my
- 35:39Speaker 2: take is.
- 35:42Speaker 2: It got lost in translation. I think if you're going
- 35:45Speaker 2: to question Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 's work ethic, I mean,
- 35:50Speaker 2: he posts every day. He plays. He seems to play hurt.
- 35:53Speaker 2: He's the heartbeat of that team. He comes from a
- 35:56Speaker 2: baseball family. His dad played until he was like 50, right?
- 36:02Speaker 2: I don't think questioning his integrity and how much he
- 36:05Speaker 2: cares about being a superstar is there. I think maybe
- 36:09Speaker 2: getting a little bit lost in translation is later on
- 36:12Speaker 2: in that interview, he was like, look, I didn't have
- 36:14Speaker 2: a great year, but I tried every day my hardest, right?
- 36:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:17Speaker 2: So, these things happen, man. They played the last game
- 36:20Speaker 2: of the season last year. You go into the offseason,
- 36:24Speaker 2: sometimes you just don't have good years. Now, his year
- 36:27Speaker 2: for a superstar is unprecedented, right? Like, down years are,
- 36:33Speaker 2: you're still popping 25 homers and driving in at least 70,
- 36:37Speaker 2: 80 runs, right? But, I don't think there's anything to
- 36:43Speaker 2: worry about with Vladdy as far as work ethic and
- 36:46Speaker 2: all of that. But what do you think?
- 36:49Speaker 1: I mean, he's only got nine home runs and I'm
- 36:52Speaker 1: sure first time going all the way to game seven
- 36:55Speaker 1: of the world series, you know what a toll that
- 36:57Speaker 1: takes on your body. I don't care how old you are.
- 36:59Speaker 1: And I know, I think he signed a 14 year deal.
- 37:02Speaker 1: Like they're expecting him to be good for the long haul,
- 37:04Speaker 1: but you know, there, there is a point to the
- 37:07Speaker 1: reason why you get the, the contract is because you're
- 37:11Speaker 1: banking on the player being a version of himself, you know, that,
- 37:16Speaker 1: that they've seen leading up to that. And, you know,
- 37:18Speaker 1: the front offices are trying to figure out the law
- 37:20Speaker 1: of averages and how good they're going to be for
- 37:23Speaker 1: the long haul. And he's young, a dominant player, but
- 37:26Speaker 1: they're also investing in the person when you get that
- 37:28Speaker 1: kind of contract and their work ethic and how they
- 37:30Speaker 1: post and how they, what they do in the community.
- 37:33Speaker 1: And when you give somebody that much money, the one
- 37:36Speaker 1: thing that I would say is like, this should be
- 37:38Speaker 1: a poly market. hard take is freaking... I'm betting on
- 37:42Speaker 1: Vladimir Guerrero next year. I don't know about you guys,
- 37:45Speaker 1: but I guarantee you he goes into the offseason with
- 37:48Speaker 1: a chip on his shoulder, and he's going to come
- 37:50Speaker 1: back with a vengeance. And, you know, could he have
- 37:55Speaker 1: worded that better? Sure. But he's kind of right as well. Like,
- 37:59Speaker 1: the reason why he got the long-term deal is because
- 38:00Speaker 1: of what he put up before. It's not an excuse
- 38:03Speaker 1: for the bad year he's had, but I'm banking on.
- 38:06Speaker 2: You know what?
- 38:06Speaker 1: Polly market in the yes. I'm going in the yes.
- 38:09Speaker 2: Shout out Polly market. But to his point, Rossi, right?
- 38:14Speaker 2: Like when, when, when I was in a slump personally,
- 38:17Speaker 2: I would, I would lean on my resume. I would say, look, man,
- 38:20Speaker 2: like I drive in a hundred almost every year. I
- 38:24Speaker 2: hit my home runs, right? I I'm going to put
- 38:26Speaker 2: up my numbers.
- 38:27Speaker 1: Okay.
- 38:27Speaker 2: I'm not having the greatest month or couple of weeks,
- 38:30Speaker 2: but I would rely on what I did in the
- 38:32Speaker 2: past for my future of, You know, psyche.
- 38:36Speaker 1: Sure.
- 38:37Speaker 2: I think it's just taken way out of context. I
- 38:39Speaker 2: don't think there's anything that anyone in Toronto needs to
- 38:41Speaker 2: worry about. You have a great franchise player. So, Vladdy,
- 38:45Speaker 2: on the Ross and Rizzo unfiltered show, we have your
- 38:48Speaker 2: back here.
- 38:49Speaker 1: We got you, Vlad.
- 38:52Speaker 2: The Marlins, Rossi, are... First off, we're talking about the
- 38:57Speaker 2: Marlins in late September, so I guess that's a good thing.
- 39:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I think so, man.
- 39:01Speaker 2: Good young team, man. They were up and down all year.
- 39:05Speaker 2: Really good, really bad, really good, right? Up and down.
- 39:08Speaker 2: That's kind of the definition of a young team. But
- 39:11Speaker 2: what they're doing, have you been paying attention to what
- 39:13Speaker 2: they're doing with Sandy Alcantara?
- 39:15Speaker 1: Alcantara? Yep.
- 39:17Speaker 2: Two saves in September while starting games as well. Yuri
- 39:23Speaker 2: Perez came out of the bullpen. So what they're doing, Rossi, right,
- 39:27Speaker 2: is their starters are going five or six innings, and
- 39:31Speaker 2: then on their bullpen day, which is two days later,
- 39:34Speaker 2: they're using them in the game instead of practice, right?
- 39:41Speaker 2: What the fuck are we doing?
- 39:44Speaker 1: Well... The one thing I know, Daniel Moskos, their pitching coach,
- 39:49Speaker 1: was one of my staff. And I feel like the
- 39:54Speaker 1: Marlins have to be outside the box, right? No, they don't.
- 39:59Speaker 2: What do you mean by that? Hold on.
- 40:00Speaker 1: I mean, like, they're not going to sign... these big
- 40:03Speaker 1: free agent pitchers. They don't go out and sign.
- 40:06Speaker 2: They trade them all away.
- 40:07Speaker 1: I know. That's my point. I'm a Marlins fan, Ross.
- 40:11Speaker 2: I'm from South Florida.
- 40:12Speaker 1: Hey, I'm rooting for them. I love what their manager
- 40:16Speaker 1: down there is doing. You knew they were going to
- 40:19Speaker 1: be a little bit more like the Rays when they
- 40:21Speaker 1: hired their president of baseball operations and Gabe Kapler as
- 40:26Speaker 1: the GM. They're going to be outside the box and
- 40:27Speaker 1: think outside the box. He's always been a little bit
- 40:29Speaker 1: that way. I think the true test is this is
- 40:35Speaker 1: either groundbreaking and everybody's going to copy it in some way,
- 40:40Speaker 1: maybe not the big market teams, and I don't know
- 40:42Speaker 1: if pitchers would be on board, or it's going to
- 40:44Speaker 1: be a disaster and guys are going to get hurt
- 40:46Speaker 1: and they're going to lose the good pitch they have.
- 40:50Speaker 2: It has to be a disaster, bro. There's too much
- 40:53Speaker 2: wear and tear and stress on your body to expect
- 40:55Speaker 2: a starting pitcher to go out there and compete and
- 40:59Speaker 2: throw up to 100 pitches At the highest level in
- 41:03Speaker 2: the big leagues. And then two days later, you're going
- 41:05Speaker 2: to put them in a fire situation to come and
- 41:09Speaker 2: close out a game or pitch high leverage for one
- 41:12Speaker 2: inning where they're just going to go blow it out.
- 41:15Speaker 1: It's risky.
- 41:15Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe. Right now, okay, a couple times. In the playoffs,
- 41:19Speaker 2: I can see this happening, right? But what, like, I
- 41:24Speaker 2: don't know, man.
- 41:25Speaker 1: It does feel a little bit like playoff baseball for them,
- 41:28Speaker 1: and they've only started it at the back end of
- 41:31Speaker 1: the year. So is it these guys are built up
- 41:34Speaker 1: and they have more confidence in it? You wouldn't do
- 41:36Speaker 1: it at the beginning of the season when guys aren't
- 41:38Speaker 1: built up and stretched out and their routine. I think
- 41:42Speaker 1: knowing pitchers' individual routines is going to be really important
- 41:45Speaker 1: because some guys go to the pen and they're either
- 41:50Speaker 1: working on some stuff or they're really letting it eat.
- 41:52Speaker 1: And some guys just want to do a little touch
- 41:54Speaker 1: and feel every couple, you know, a couple of days,
- 41:57Speaker 1: a real light workload and pitchers getting on board with
- 42:00Speaker 1: that is really tricky. I think you have a guy
- 42:03Speaker 1: in Sandy Alcantara that's like, I'll do anything. I love
- 42:06Speaker 1: this organization. And, you know, personally, does it feel like
- 42:10Speaker 1: they're taking advantage of that a little bit? Yeah, it does. Right.
- 42:14Speaker 1: It does.
- 42:15Speaker 2: And he's coming off Tommy John surgery too.
- 42:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 42:17Speaker 2: A couple of years ago.
- 42:18Speaker 1: Right. So, yeah.
- 42:19Speaker 2: Man, I don't love it. I mean, bro, like what
- 42:25Speaker 2: you said, the Marlins have the Marlins. The Marlins have had,
- 42:28Speaker 2: the Marlins do a good job historically of having really
- 42:32Speaker 2: good players.
- 42:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 42:33Speaker 2: Right? They just traded Pablo Lopez a few years ago.
- 42:36Speaker 2: They've traded Christian Yelich, MVP. Giancarlo Stanton, one MVP. JT Realmuto,
- 42:41Speaker 2: Jazz Chisholm, Luis Uribe, Jorge Soler they had.
- 42:45Speaker 1: Edward Cabrera for the Cubs. Cabrera, right?
- 42:48Speaker 2: They always have a good back-end bullpen.
- 42:51Speaker 1: So....
- 42:54Speaker 2: I don't understand why they would be risking players' health
- 42:58Speaker 2: right now. And I don't understand why the players are
- 43:01Speaker 2: saying yes to this. There has to be something that
- 43:04Speaker 2: we're not seeing and the numbers that they're looking at
- 43:06Speaker 2: has to have the players bought in.
- 43:08Speaker 1: That's what I would say. That's a great point.
- 43:09Speaker 2: I mean.
- 43:13Speaker 2: Dude, Sandy's coming off. I don't know. I don't know.
- 43:17Speaker 1: I want to learn more about what they're looking at,
- 43:19Speaker 1: to your point, and what the messaging is. I think
- 43:23Speaker 1: it's a lot easier without a true veteran. Max Scherzer's
- 43:27Speaker 1: not doing that, I would assume, if he's there. But
- 43:31Speaker 1: they don't get a lot of those guys, and they've
- 43:32Speaker 1: got young guys that are bought in. And so, yeah,
- 43:36Speaker 1: it's tricky. But I think to comment deeply– on this.
- 43:40Speaker 1: I'd love to know what they're looking at and, and
- 43:42Speaker 1: are they trendsetters? Are, are they setting themselves up for,
- 43:45Speaker 1: you know, everybody to, to make fun of it so far?
- 43:48Speaker 1: It's been a pretty good success. A couple of good
- 43:50Speaker 1: outings from, um, no doubt.
- 43:54Speaker 2: Short term. I think it's short term. I think it works.
- 43:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 43:57Speaker 2: The guy's super healthy, but post-season, I love it. Post-season,
- 44:01Speaker 2: I love it.
- 44:02Speaker 1: 162.
- 44:03Speaker 2: Look at Shohei, man. Shohei can't stay healthy. He's a
- 44:06Speaker 2: two-way player. Like he, historically he's having a problem staying
- 44:11Speaker 2: healthy and they, they pitch him once every seven to
- 44:14Speaker 2: 10 days.
- 44:15Speaker 1: Yeah. Right.
- 44:16Speaker 2: Yeah. So now you're asking the guy that's throwing a hundred, again,
- 44:19Speaker 2: a hundred pitches to go two days later. Maybe if
- 44:22Speaker 2: he's on six days rest, again, the numbers you'd have
- 44:24Speaker 2: to really dive in and see what they're thinking, but
- 44:27Speaker 2: you get organizations like this.
- 44:29Speaker 1: I don't know if free agents and not that they
- 44:31Speaker 1: go out and get a lot of, but I don't
- 44:32Speaker 1: know if free agents would go there or there. You
- 44:34Speaker 1: would definitely, the agents would, would have conversations with, within that.
- 44:37Speaker 1: And I think the other thing that stands out to
- 44:39Speaker 1: me about Sandy is that he leads major league baseball
- 44:42Speaker 1: in innings. Like, you know, most organizations are backing off
- 44:46Speaker 1: rather than, I mean, we can go right into like,
- 44:50Speaker 1: this is a whole, like the WBC thing, like with schemes.
- 44:54Speaker 1: And I heard Logan Webb the other day, um, talking
- 44:56Speaker 1: about a little bit, you know, and, and the innings and,
- 44:59Speaker 1: and how much they put just the taxing of an
- 45:02Speaker 1: extra month on themselves. And, and, I get that, but
- 45:07Speaker 1: I also like, and this is a side note, kind
- 45:09Speaker 1: of off topic, but also I think we always choose
- 45:14Speaker 1: what the organization wants and the organization always has the say.
- 45:18Speaker 1: And if it was up to the organizations, they would
- 45:20Speaker 1: never let guys throw extra. It doesn't matter what time
- 45:23Speaker 1: of year it is. There's all this talk of like,
- 45:24Speaker 1: let's do it in the middle of the season because
- 45:26Speaker 1: of the Olympics. The organizations are going to be like,
- 45:28Speaker 1: hell no, I don't want my horses going in the
- 45:30Speaker 1: middle of the season when I'm on a playoff push
- 45:32Speaker 1: and I want them in September. I don't know if
- 45:35Speaker 1: there's ever a good time. But to a man, the
- 45:38Speaker 1: guys you talk to, it's like, okay, maybe you sacrificed
- 45:42Speaker 1: a year where you didn't have such a great year
- 45:44Speaker 1: to do something really unique and special and play for
- 45:46Speaker 1: your country. And I think to a lot of those guys,
- 45:49Speaker 1: if you asked them, Paul Skeens was as bought in
- 45:51Speaker 1: as anybody and as mad as anybody I've ever seen
- 45:53Speaker 1: losing to Venezuela there in the last game. It's a
- 45:58Speaker 1: big deal to play for your country and an honor.
- 46:01Speaker 1: I definitely got to feel like those guys, I know
- 46:03Speaker 1: those guys took a lot of pride in that and
- 46:06Speaker 1: You know, hindsight. Here's another point. I'm jumping all over
- 46:09Speaker 1: the place, but Garrett Crochet was one of the pitchers
- 46:14Speaker 1: that were, you know, maybe going to be on WBC.
- 46:17Speaker 1: He chose not to because of how many innings he
- 46:19Speaker 1: threw last year. Career high last year for the Red Sox. Well,
- 46:22Speaker 1: he got hurt. If the same thing would have happened
- 46:25Speaker 1: to him this year and he would have pitched in
- 46:27Speaker 1: the WBC, everybody would have been blaming the WBC. I
- 46:30Speaker 1: don't know that the two coincide. I definitely think it's
- 46:33Speaker 1: more workload. but I'm just saying we look at it,
- 46:36Speaker 1: we look at such a negative, and some of these,
- 46:40Speaker 1: I think, guys are getting, you know, they're having to
- 46:44Speaker 1: answer questions about the WBC where I heard Daniel Polizzi
- 46:48Speaker 1: has been on the IL twice, and I hadn't heard
- 46:51Speaker 1: a whole lot of questions about his WBC appearances because
- 46:54Speaker 1: he was throwing BBs.
- 46:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, they had to make a huge decision
- 46:57Speaker 2: there to let him pitch back-to-back, right?
- 47:00Speaker 1: Yeah, and they were going to say, I know the
- 47:01Speaker 1: Cubs weren't happy about that.
- 47:04Speaker 2: No, absolutely not.
- 47:05Speaker 1: And these guys love their country. I love it.
- 47:08Speaker 2: I love it.
- 47:09Speaker 1: These guys love playing. It's great to put that USA
- 47:11Speaker 1: across your chest.
- 47:12Speaker 2: No doubt. Let's get to our Tim Boss Ball Back
- 47:16Speaker 2: questions of the week, our daily mailbag questions where our
- 47:21Speaker 2: listeners can send us questions to rossandrizzo at gmail.com or
- 47:26Speaker 2: leave a comment on YouTube. Also want to plug next week.
- 47:30Speaker 2: when we are doing our preview series for the wild card,
- 47:33Speaker 2: if fans from that team want to send in questions
- 47:36Speaker 2: for that series or for their team, we're going to
- 47:38Speaker 2: answer on each breakdown we're doing.
- 47:42Speaker 1: Let me read this from, let me read this first one.
- 47:45Speaker 1: Cause he's got a, he's got a little love for
- 47:46Speaker 1: you at the end of it. Emails from Brian Tanner.
- 47:49Speaker 1: Question is at the beginning of the season, did you
- 47:51Speaker 1: guys think the Cubs would be this good? Why? And
- 47:55Speaker 1: if not, what changed for them to become the team
- 47:58Speaker 1: they are today? P.S. Rizzo, I was there for your
- 48:01Speaker 1: retirement ceremony, and it was probably the best game of
- 48:04Speaker 1: my life. Thank you for everything you have done for
- 48:07Speaker 1: the Cubbies. So shout out.
- 48:09Speaker 2: Thank you, Brian.
- 48:10Speaker 1: Brian loves him some Riz.
- 48:12Speaker 2: Yeah, that was a fun time. The retirement was special.
- 48:14Speaker 2: They did it. The Cubbies treated me right there. No,
- 48:20Speaker 2: I did not think that the Cubs were going to
- 48:22Speaker 2: be a 90-plus win team this year because of their pitching.
- 48:28Speaker 2: I didn't think that they went out and did enough
- 48:30Speaker 2: in the off season to solidify their bullpen. Um, I
- 48:34Speaker 2: thought their starting pitching was, was decent, but for 162 games, it's,
- 48:39Speaker 2: it's not going to be easy to win their offense.
- 48:43Speaker 2: I mean, Rossi, we talked about this. It feels like yesterday.
- 48:46Speaker 2: Their offense is great. Their defense is great, but pitching
- 48:49Speaker 2: wins championships, right? So, um, It's a shout-out to Jed.
- 48:56Speaker 2: Shout-out to that entire organization, Craig Council, all the way
- 49:00Speaker 2: down for going through the adversity they went through with
- 49:04Speaker 2: all their starters getting hurt, their relievers getting hurt, and
- 49:08Speaker 2: still winning baseball games. That's a lot of pressure on
- 49:11Speaker 2: that position player group to continue to day in and
- 49:16Speaker 2: day out and go grind and score six runs give
- 49:20Speaker 2: up eight type thing and still win 90 plus games.
- 49:22Speaker 2: So I thought they were going to be good. I
- 49:24Speaker 2: didn't think they'd be this good. And on top of
- 49:26Speaker 2: everything they went through, they're way better than I expected.
- 49:29Speaker 1: Well, we had this debate being you off off camera
- 49:33Speaker 1: early in the season of like, you know, I think
- 49:35Speaker 1: I probably believed him in them a little bit more.
- 49:38Speaker 1: I thought Cabrera was going to be on the mound
- 49:40Speaker 1: a little bit more and do some things. I didn't think–
- 49:43Speaker 1: I thought Valencia was a legit closer coming off the WBC.
- 49:46Speaker 1: And I knew, like, the pickups of Bregman and some
- 49:50Speaker 1: of the moves they made there. I just– I thought
- 49:54Speaker 1: the offense was going to be great. I thought it
- 49:56Speaker 1: was really deep. But those injuries, you know, like Steele
- 50:00Speaker 1: and Cade Horton, for them to overcome those injuries and
- 50:04Speaker 1: credit to the offense, one of the best in the game, like,
- 50:06Speaker 1: that's what's carried them because– They've definitely dealt with some adversity,
- 50:09Speaker 1: as we've mentioned.
- 50:12Speaker 2: Nice. This email is from William Menon.
- 50:18Speaker 1: Menon.
- 50:18Speaker 2: Both of you had some heated moments in your careers. Example,
- 50:22Speaker 2: me charging the Reds. What's a moment either of you
- 50:25Speaker 2: had where you were so heated you thought about charging
- 50:27Speaker 2: the mound or getting into it with an umpire where
- 50:30Speaker 2: you didn't? What's running through your mind at that time?
- 50:35Speaker 1: I mean, I got one that came... to mine first
- 50:38Speaker 1: probably the maddest I've been and it has to do
- 50:40Speaker 1: with you I was managing and we were having a
- 50:44Speaker 1: good year you were having a good year and you
- 50:47Speaker 1: went into Cincinnati and I think you hit like two
- 50:50Speaker 1: home runs the first game and then the second game
- 50:54Speaker 1: it was I think it was a day game on
- 50:56Speaker 1: a Saturday and you hit another home run in your
- 50:58Speaker 1: first at bat or second at bat and then third
- 51:01Speaker 1: at bat they threw one behind your head and I
- 51:04Speaker 1: was so fucking mad like I was seeing red, and
- 51:09Speaker 1: it felt like, for me, and I don't know, I
- 51:12Speaker 1: don't know their, I've heard great things about their pitching coach,
- 51:15Speaker 1: but it felt like it came from the dugout. It
- 51:17Speaker 1: felt like somebody told him, we got to make Anthony
- 51:20Speaker 1: Rizzo uncomfortable. And it was behind your freaking head, and
- 51:22Speaker 1: I think I got tossed out of the game because
- 51:24Speaker 1: I was just screaming at the umpire, like, what are
- 51:27Speaker 1: we doing? This guy's absolutely dominating his team. And when
- 51:31Speaker 1: I argue with umpires, I black out. I don't know
- 51:34Speaker 1: what I'm saying. it just is diarrhea. The mouth is
- 51:37Speaker 1: coming out in an angry version of me. And, um, that,
- 51:41Speaker 1: that one's the first one that popped in my mind
- 51:43Speaker 1: where I just was seeing red and like wanted to,
- 51:45Speaker 1: I was a manager and the manager's supposed to have
- 51:47Speaker 1: the cool head. And I wanted to charge the mound
- 51:49Speaker 1: at that moment. I don't remember who was pitching, but
- 51:51Speaker 1: it was, it just was so disrespectful. It was so
- 51:54Speaker 1: fucking Bush league that, uh, excuse my language, but you
- 51:57Speaker 1: can tell I'm getting a little heated right now.
- 51:58Speaker 2: Don't, don't mess with my boy, Anthony. Don't mess with Tony.
- 52:03Speaker 1: You have one?
- 52:04Speaker 2: Yeah, my moments with umpires, it really was like the
- 52:09Speaker 2: 3-1 pitch that they call a strike or 3-0 that
- 52:12Speaker 2: they call a strike, and then you end up striking out.
- 52:14Speaker 2: 3-1 to go to 3-2. That was clearly a ball.
- 52:17Speaker 2: That would have been ball four, right? And I'm just like, hey, man,
- 52:21Speaker 2: a ball's a fucking ball, right? And there's one time
- 52:24Speaker 2: in San Francisco where I believe it was a 3-0
- 52:29Speaker 2: or 3-1 count, and Jordan Baker was behind me. the
- 52:33Speaker 2: home plate umpire and he calls it a strike i'm
- 52:35Speaker 2: like what the fuck jordan i just turned around we
- 52:37Speaker 2: have a great relationship jordan and i basically came up
- 52:39Speaker 2: together right jordan's great yeah we talk all the time
- 52:42Speaker 2: we talk i'm like what the fuck was that and
- 52:44Speaker 2: he looked at me ah and then i swung and
- 52:47Speaker 2: missed the next pitch it fouled it off and i
- 52:49Speaker 2: just screamed fuck right like pissed because that goes from
- 52:54Speaker 2: starting your day with a or i don't know if
- 52:56Speaker 2: it was starting my day but A walk to a strikeout, right?
- 52:59Speaker 2: That's a huge difference on psyche, stat line, everything.
- 53:02Speaker 1: Sure.
- 53:03Speaker 2: And he tossed me. And I'm like, what the fuck
- 53:07Speaker 2: was that for? Oh, you can't show me up like that.
- 53:10Speaker 2: I go, well, then call the fucking game the right way, right?
- 53:12Speaker 2: I'm screaming at him, pissed off. Like, you just took
- 53:15Speaker 2: the bat out of my hand. You knew that was
- 53:18Speaker 2: a ball. You admit it. And he tossed me. And
- 53:21Speaker 2: I was like, are you being sensitive today? Like, I
- 53:24Speaker 2: asked him if he wanted a candy bar. i love
- 53:27Speaker 2: this this is what you're talking i.
- 53:30Speaker 1: Love them i love that i would say like why
- 53:32Speaker 1: are you so sensitive you know why are you so
- 53:35Speaker 1: sensitive i should i used to say that i.
- 53:37Speaker 2: Get why they're sensitive all the time because they just
- 53:40Speaker 2: are constantly getting chirped at but yeah there are times
- 53:43Speaker 2: in games where you want to go crazy against another
- 53:46Speaker 2: team if you think they hit you or team you
- 53:48Speaker 2: don't have bad bad blood with or um, umpires, but
- 53:52Speaker 2: you have to be mindful of where you're at in
- 53:54Speaker 2: the game, the situation where the team's at. So there's
- 53:57Speaker 2: a lot that goes through your head in that moment
- 53:59Speaker 2: that you really need to, keep under.
- 54:01Speaker 1: Control guys guys like me can get tossed guys like
- 54:04Speaker 1: you can't get tossed like they've got plenty of other
- 54:06Speaker 1: catchers to come in we don't have freaking all-star gold
- 54:10Speaker 1: glove first baseman to replace you so you needed you
- 54:13Speaker 1: needed this like you think about how many at bats
- 54:15Speaker 1: you would have got back on the challenge system you
- 54:17Speaker 1: would have got like you were you controlled his own
- 54:19Speaker 1: well you controlled his own back in my day back
- 54:22Speaker 1: in my day that was good stuff well man We
- 54:25Speaker 1: got postseason coming up, baby.
- 54:27Speaker 2: Well, we got one more, Rossi. We got one more.
- 54:28Speaker 1: Oh, we got another one?
- 54:29Speaker 2: We got one more. Email from Luke. This is a
- 54:31Speaker 2: good one for you because you manage the Cubbies and
- 54:33Speaker 2: a lot of guys in that room. Do you have
- 54:35Speaker 2: one glue guy to pick from this Cubbies team this year?
- 54:39Speaker 2: Who would it be?
- 54:41Speaker 1: Man, one of my favorite players I've ever managed is
- 54:44Speaker 1: Nico Horner. He got paid, but he's not the guy
- 54:49Speaker 1: that is the face of the franchise anymore. But the
- 54:53Speaker 1: way he plays, the way he thinks about the game,
- 54:56Speaker 1: the way he talks about the game, his intensity every
- 54:59Speaker 1: single day, work ethic. Like, he is the exact example
- 55:03Speaker 1: of the guy you want setting the tone for your team.
- 55:06Speaker 1: I know Breggy's got leadership skills. I know Dansby, Happer
- 55:09Speaker 1: leads in his own way. Like, there's a lot of
- 55:11Speaker 1: guys they have there that are awesome guys. But for me,
- 55:15Speaker 1: Nico Horner has got to be the guy I would
- 55:18Speaker 1: go to.
- 55:19Speaker 2: Well, you know what the cool thing about Nico? What?
- 55:23Speaker 2: We first clinched in 2020. We did a little celebration
- 55:29Speaker 2: and talked to him about when we were popping champagne
- 55:33Speaker 2: and whatnot, or we almost all got in trouble for, uh,
- 55:37Speaker 2: I was like, dude, no goggles, especially your first time.
- 55:40Speaker 2: You never know when your next one's going to be.
- 55:43Speaker 2: And he's told me he never wears goggles now during
- 55:45Speaker 2: the champagne celebrations. Cause you really don't know when the
- 55:47Speaker 2: next one's going to be. You got to feel the
- 55:48Speaker 2: burn and how good it feels. So I love Nico. Um,
- 55:53Speaker 2: I got to give a shout-out to a guy behind
- 55:54Speaker 2: the scenes that I know is a glue guy. His
- 55:57Speaker 2: name is Danny Mueller. He is the head clubhouse attendant
- 56:00Speaker 2: for the Cubbies.
- 56:01Speaker 1: Nice.
- 56:02Speaker 2: He brings energy to a team on a daily basis
- 56:06Speaker 2: that makes it light, has fun, and you need that
- 56:09Speaker 2: throughout the year. I know he's not one of the players,
- 56:12Speaker 2: but Danny Mueller, shout-out to you.
- 56:15Speaker 1: I was watching a clip last night of him. They
- 56:18Speaker 1: were interviewing Happ, and he was talking about just what
- 56:20Speaker 1: the emotions he was going through. And Danny Mueller just
- 56:23Speaker 1: is in the background pouring champagne on him going, this
- 56:26Speaker 1: guy's a Cubs legend. He's a Chicago legend. You know,
- 56:29Speaker 1: he was, he was, uh, he was screaming for the boys.
- 56:32Speaker 2: Danny, he does.
- 56:33Speaker 1: And he's always got a positive attitude. He was one
- 56:36Speaker 1: of my, even as a manager, he would come and
- 56:39Speaker 1: check on you and lift you up. And, uh, definitely
- 56:42Speaker 1: a glue guy. That's a great call. I love that
- 56:44Speaker 1: call risk.
- 56:46Speaker 2: Uh, well, thank you everyone for watching Rossi Monday preview show.
- 56:49Speaker 2: That will be released on Tuesday morning. And then what
- 56:53Speaker 2: do we got? Wednesday, Thursday, or we'll release it Monday afternoon.
- 56:57Speaker 2: And then Wednesday and Thursday will be on doing all
- 57:01Speaker 2: of the postgame coverage, our live reactions, our thoughts. I
- 57:06Speaker 2: can't wait, Rossi. I can't wait for October baseball. It's
- 57:09Speaker 2: going to be a hell of a run. And you
- 57:10Speaker 2: and I are just getting started, partner.
- 57:12Speaker 1: Keep the emails coming. We want to answer all the
- 57:14Speaker 1: questions and talk baseball with you guys. Such good questions.
- 57:17Speaker 1: And I can't wait either partner. We're going to have
- 57:19Speaker 1: some fun this postseason. We got to, It's our in-season month.
- 57:23Speaker 1: We got a month of just playoff baseball. Playoffs!
- 57:27Speaker 2: Ross and Rizzo out.
- 57:29Speaker 1: Peace!
