- 0:00Speaker 1: There. I'm confused. Whenever you're punctual, I'm confused. So good
- 0:05Speaker 1: to see you. Wait, here's your new theme song? I don't,
- 0:11Speaker 1: I don't. I'm limited in what I have. Do you
- 0:13Speaker 1: like this better? Yes? Wait better? That's your game showy,
- 0:20Speaker 1: that's hers baby. The other one sounds like an interlude
- 0:23Speaker 1: in between. You could also have this. This literally single
- 0:25Speaker 1: sounds like interving single. Yeah, this is labeled monk, do
- 0:29Speaker 1: you want this? Do you want this one? I thought
- 0:38Speaker 1: that was when we came back from Yeah. I know,
- 0:40Speaker 1: we're still figuring it out. Baby, Come on, man, Hey,
- 0:43Speaker 1: let's tell I gotta say. I haven't watched my musical
- 0:47Speaker 1: in so long. I've only seen Guy Love nine jillion times.
- 0:51Speaker 1: And not to pat ourselves in the back, this is
- 0:54Speaker 1: fucking one of the best episodes of TV comedy. Every
- 1:00Speaker 1: absolutely think it's brilliant. It is, and we can say
- 1:03Speaker 1: that because we didn't write it. And I want to
- 1:05Speaker 1: give kudos to the writers right off the bat, Jeff Mars,
- 1:08Speaker 1: Robert Lopez, Paul Perry, and I'm sure a few others
- 1:11Speaker 1: I don't know about. Obviously. Deb Fordham, who wrote the episode,
- 1:13Speaker 1: wrote a lot of the lyrics, um with the whole
- 1:16Speaker 1: writing staff Will mackenzie, brilliant director um Bill Lawrence of
- 1:22Speaker 1: course overseeing the whole thing. But it is so tight.
- 1:25Speaker 1: I mean, first of all, it's so short, and and
- 1:28Speaker 1: to think of all those songs and all that in
- 1:31Speaker 1: what is it? Twenty twenty two minutes twenty two minutes?
- 1:36Speaker 1: And Donald, you are particularly amazing in it too, I
- 1:40Speaker 1: I every time. I mean because because you really are
- 1:42Speaker 1: a sing singer and a dancer, you shine so bright
- 1:45Speaker 1: in this. Thank you man. That's very nice of you
- 1:48Speaker 1: to say. You know who really shined in this for
- 1:50Speaker 1: me was Judy? Yeah, because I know she broke her
- 1:53Speaker 1: back or her hip. I found this trivia for those
- 1:57Speaker 1: of you. Here's your first bit of the show. Six
- 2:02Speaker 1: about show we made about nurses, stories around yea, around
- 2:23Speaker 1: m m okay, tell us about the trivia. There's some
- 2:26Speaker 1: trivia I learned on on Scrubs Wiki, which is that
- 2:29Speaker 1: Judy Rays had a broken hip. Yes, and other than
- 2:33Speaker 1: the tango that she does what does with Donald? Which
- 2:35Speaker 1: was shot two months after the fact, they had to
- 2:40Speaker 1: come back and shoot it. Remember that you'll notice that
- 2:42Speaker 1: she's always sitting Yep, We're gonna miss you. Carla the
- 2:47Speaker 1: whole woman. Gonna miss you, Carla. She's sitting in a wheelchair,
- 2:49Speaker 1: I believe, right, or no, why would she be in
- 2:52Speaker 1: a wheelchair now, she's sitting in a regular chair. Okay,
- 2:55Speaker 1: But anyway, there is some mega trivia for you trivia
- 2:58Speaker 1: aboves out there. Judy Rays spent the whole time in
- 3:03Speaker 1: the sitting except for the tango, which was shot two
- 3:05Speaker 1: months later. She was also out for a bit while
- 3:08Speaker 1: she healed because she so we we didn't see her
- 3:12Speaker 1: for a while and when she do you remember how
- 3:13Speaker 1: she broke her hip? Was it sexually related? Oh? I
- 3:17Speaker 1: wish it was sex By the way, her voice is
- 3:26Speaker 1: first of all, I don't know, I don't even begin okay,
- 3:28Speaker 1: And I'm sure if you're a mega Scrubs fan and
- 3:30Speaker 1: you're listening to this podcast, you probably feel the same
- 3:33Speaker 1: wearing because I haven't seen it. I don't think i've
- 3:36Speaker 1: seen it in twenty years. It is so good. And
- 3:39Speaker 1: Judy Rais's voice, first of all, amazing. Everything you do
- 3:44Speaker 1: Donald and this is amazing. But the tango I hadn't
- 3:47Speaker 1: seen for the last time. Turk, I'm Dominican. That is
- 3:50Speaker 1: so fucking funny. And the dancing is so good. Do
- 3:55Speaker 1: you remember, like you guys wants to rehearse a long
- 3:57Speaker 1: time for that. No, we didn't. Don't rub it in
- 4:01Speaker 1: for us non dance, she was hurt for ten minutes.
- 4:05Speaker 1: We had like half a day of rehearsal so we
- 4:08Speaker 1: could get the blocking and everything down. But for the
- 4:10Speaker 1: most part she was I mean she had to come
- 4:13Speaker 1: back and like kudos to her man because she had
- 4:15Speaker 1: to come back and learn it really fast. Where we
- 4:18Speaker 1: rehearsed for a week or two before we even started
- 4:22Speaker 1: blocking this show. This episode, this was a huge for us.
- 4:27Speaker 1: I mean, this was just one of the biggest things
- 4:29Speaker 1: we ever did. We prerecorded, so not only did these
- 4:33Speaker 1: genius writers that I mentioned write all this music and
- 4:37Speaker 1: then it was orchestrated, and then we had to go
- 4:39Speaker 1: and prerecord all the songs so that we could sing
- 4:42Speaker 1: and dance to them, you know, and have them be filmed.
- 4:47Speaker 1: And so we had never done anything this epic, I
- 4:49Speaker 1: mean before this was by far the biggest. I'm sure
- 4:54Speaker 1: this and maybe the Princess Bride one were the most
- 4:58Speaker 1: expensive ones ever. But this was so fun. And Will mackenzie,
- 5:04Speaker 1: I mean, he's such a talented director. I mean, he
- 5:08Speaker 1: loved musicals, and he had a Broadway background and and
- 5:12Speaker 1: he's directed a zillion episodes of television and he just
- 5:15Speaker 1: was the perfect man for this assignment. The way this
- 5:18Speaker 1: is photographed, the way it goes in and out of
- 5:20Speaker 1: every time. Stephanie de Bruzzo, I believe she was in
- 5:23Speaker 1: Avenue Q and she's been in a lot of Broadway things,
- 5:26Speaker 1: and she's wonderfully talented. But you know, we only sing
- 5:30Speaker 1: when she's around. And then it also takes on this
- 5:32Speaker 1: little sort of heightened glow of like a Technicolor musical,
- 5:36Speaker 1: you know, little little things like that. And just all
- 5:39Speaker 1: the camera moves, I mean the camera's dancing too, and
- 5:42Speaker 1: those overheads, the lights are dancing in this bad Boy. Yeah,
- 5:46Speaker 1: it's John And when we got to give a shout
- 5:48Speaker 1: out to John Wood, who shot it beautifully. I mean
- 5:51Speaker 1: it was nominated for five Emmies. Now Scrub's barely ever
- 5:53Speaker 1: won Emmy's no bitterness, but I have no I have
- 5:57Speaker 1: no hate towards anyone I do. We should have won it.
- 6:02Speaker 1: We should have won all five. But um I get
- 6:05Speaker 1: we lost to Dick in the Box. No, we won
- 6:08Speaker 1: one Emmy for this episode. Do you know what it was?
- 6:10Speaker 1: What the Emmy was for no. I try to look
- 6:13Speaker 1: at it sound sound mind because close to Dick in
- 6:19Speaker 1: the Box. I just want you to know that guy
- 6:22Speaker 1: Love lost to Dick in the box. Oh for song, Well,
- 6:25Speaker 1: Dick in the boxes it was was more seen. I'm
- 6:28Speaker 1: wise enough to know when a gift needs given, and
- 6:32Speaker 1: I got just the one to let her know that
- 6:37Speaker 1: she's second to none. It's my dick in a box,
- 6:46Speaker 1: My Dick in a box. Girl. Well you shouldn't be
- 6:50Speaker 1: singing this song that beat us. Well you know I'm
- 6:54Speaker 1: not a sore loser. It was years ago. Um so yeah,
- 6:57Speaker 1: sound mixing, that's the way. That's the Emmy we won.
- 6:59Speaker 1: So there you go. Um the open the opening dance number,
- 7:03Speaker 1: I mean that took a long time to shoot. They
- 7:06Speaker 1: have those overhead beautiful. What do they call those swimming shots?
- 7:10Speaker 1: Um crane? No? No, no, right, no, you guys aren't
- 7:14Speaker 1: talking about buzz buzzby Berkeley. What's that expression? Do you
- 7:17Speaker 1: know what I'm talking about? Berkeley's top shot technique. Okay,
- 7:23Speaker 1: I guess it's buzz Berkeley, buzzby Berkeley. What's Berkeley's first name, Joel,
- 7:27Speaker 1: can you find that? Yeah? Berkeley Berkeley. So he would
- 7:32Speaker 1: do those top shot down things and then in an
- 7:34Speaker 1: elaborate dance move so you'd see it. So that's what
- 7:36Speaker 1: that's what Will is is they do it at Indiana
- 7:39Speaker 1: Jones and the Temple of Doom in the opening number.
- 7:42Speaker 1: It's done in blazing saddles when they are busting through
- 7:46Speaker 1: all the sets and stuff like that at the end
- 7:48Speaker 1: of the movie. But I'm talking about in a moving
- 7:50Speaker 1: dance sort of seeing in a beautiful choreography. That's what
- 7:54Speaker 1: it's done. That's what it's used. What's the Cohen Brothers
- 7:56Speaker 1: movie where where where um Scarlett Johnson rises out of
- 7:59Speaker 1: the water they do it Caesar Yeah, wow, nice pulled Joel. Yeah. Solo,
- 8:08Speaker 1: they did the new Han Solo. What are you talking about? Caesar? Yeah?
- 8:13Speaker 1: Do you like him as Han Solo? Yeah? Why not? Man?
- 8:16Speaker 1: Look man, other than you. Do you think there is
- 8:19Speaker 1: a better choice for Han Solo out? I do, But no,
- 8:22Speaker 1: no disrespect to him, because I think he did a
- 8:24Speaker 1: great job. But I think the person who should have
- 8:26Speaker 1: got the Han Solo character is the dude that was
- 8:27Speaker 1: in West that story, ansel El Great. Yeah, no, I
- 8:32Speaker 1: think it should be Um ansel El Gret is a
- 8:34Speaker 1: better Han solo. I promise you, dude, he's got that.
- 8:37Speaker 1: I would have liked Andrew Andrew Garfield really really really
- 8:43Speaker 1: really yeah, really really yeah. I went to some of
- 8:46Speaker 1: the Oscar parties, saw lots of famous people. Um, I
- 8:52Speaker 1: brought my friend Preston and um when we when we left,
- 8:55Speaker 1: I high fived him and I said, I think we
- 8:57Speaker 1: didn't embarrass ourselves in front of anyone, you know, because
- 9:02Speaker 1: Donald told that story of we've both definitely embarrassed ourselves
- 9:06Speaker 1: in front of celebrities several times. I've done that. But
- 9:10Speaker 1: there were lots of cool actors and it's cool. You know,
- 9:12Speaker 1: you go to these parties and you get to walk
- 9:14Speaker 1: up to people you really admire and say, hey, I
- 9:17Speaker 1: just you know, sometimes you know them, sometimes you don't,
- 9:19Speaker 1: but um, you can say, like, hey, I you're That
- 9:23Speaker 1: performance was incredible and that's the thing I like about it.
- 9:26Speaker 1: It's cool. And I didn't I didn't be doing that stuff. Again,
- 9:31Speaker 1: that's the question. I felt great, break it felt great.
- 9:35Speaker 1: It felt great. I mean, you know, yeah, obviously you
- 9:37Speaker 1: haven't done any of that since COVID, and UM, it
- 9:39Speaker 1: just felt cool. You know. I'm literally I still feel
- 9:41Speaker 1: like the little kid in the room who can't believe
- 9:43Speaker 1: he's invited to the party. Yeah. So that's what's so
- 9:46Speaker 1: fun about it is to look around the room and go,
- 9:48Speaker 1: oh my god, it's so and so, it's so and so,
- 9:51Speaker 1: and then you know, my agent would like sometimes introduce
- 9:53Speaker 1: me to some mega person and that was cool, and
- 9:57Speaker 1: we just had we just had some good laughs. But
- 9:59Speaker 1: mostly we were excited that we escaped the party without
- 10:02Speaker 1: embarrassing ourselves. The biggest name you ran into that you
- 10:06Speaker 1: were like, holy shit, conversation. Well, I did see Leo.
- 10:12Speaker 1: I did see I did see Leo. But we didn't.
- 10:15Speaker 1: We didn't have a long conversation. We had a more
- 10:17Speaker 1: of a fist bump, a fist doc if you will,
- 10:21Speaker 1: you guys, doctor, We didn't. Yeah, we had a fist.
- 10:26Speaker 1: We had a fist doc um. I spoke to Andrew Garfield,
- 10:30Speaker 1: who I know a little bit, and I and I
- 10:31Speaker 1: went on and on a mount partectic boom and I
- 10:34Speaker 1: but I made sure Donald I didn't embarrass us. I know,
- 10:37Speaker 1: I know, I know. I could picture you over my
- 10:38Speaker 1: shoulder being like, okay, buddy, back away, You've done enough
- 10:43Speaker 1: for you. But I did. But I did give Andrew
- 10:45Speaker 1: Garfield some love Um, because I did think, truly that
- 10:49Speaker 1: that performance was fucking unbelievable and I think he's one
- 10:51Speaker 1: of the best there is. And I told him, anyway,
- 10:55Speaker 1: let's get back to our musical Donald. Let's open with
- 10:59Speaker 1: So we talked to the opening number, which is incredible
- 11:01Speaker 1: and just so well written. Then we go into our
- 11:03Speaker 1: poo song um, which is just so funny and the
- 11:07Speaker 1: choreography is so funny. Yeah, we had kicking our heads
- 11:11Speaker 1: in Hey, miss Miller, we just need a stool sample?
- 11:16Speaker 1: Why sample? If you think I'm just a nut your head,
- 11:22Speaker 1: my dear, it's you. You See, everything comes down to pooh.
- 11:30Speaker 1: This show should really should really just be me and
- 11:32Speaker 1: Donald singing all the songs for you guys here for it,
- 11:36Speaker 1: whether it's a tumor a touch at the flu. Please,
- 11:40Speaker 1: won't you pinch us off a big fat clue? Our
- 11:43Speaker 1: number one guess is your number two? If there's no
- 11:48Speaker 1: priest slide on match please, Everything comes down to doo
- 11:52Speaker 1: doo doo doo doo doo doo. So there's a moment
- 11:55Speaker 1: in that song that's very funny, and that's the break
- 11:57Speaker 1: where you go check the pooh. Yes, Mike Schwartz as
- 12:00Speaker 1: homeless guy through Pooh in my eye. Check the check
- 12:04Speaker 1: the Pooh minor his first him, then you venue. But
- 12:13Speaker 1: the way that the way that Mike schwarts because if
- 12:15Speaker 1: he doesn't have anything in his Pooh, you're gonna be fine.
- 12:19Speaker 1: It's pretty much. But the way that Mike Schwartz asked
- 12:22Speaker 1: minor hiss so funny first is then you, um, it
- 12:31Speaker 1: may seem gross, it may you may see it used
- 12:37Speaker 1: to be it originally it was. It may seem gross,
- 12:41Speaker 1: it may be crass, but we need to see what
- 12:44Speaker 1: comes out of your ass. Before that, it was a
- 12:49Speaker 1: currently or a letter JA as long as it's undud. Yeah, yes,
- 12:55Speaker 1: everything of that po NBC put their foot down on
- 12:58Speaker 1: describing fecal matter as a letter J or curly curly
- 13:05Speaker 1: just so funny. It's so funny what they allowed. But
- 13:13Speaker 1: they didn't allow a curly or a letter jay. How
- 13:24Speaker 1: many letter jay's have you had? No, that's the truth
- 13:27Speaker 1: thought think about it. I guess so because it was
- 13:31Speaker 1: in the song at one point, curly or a letter jay,
- 13:35Speaker 1: as long as it seduced, yes, and then we cheer it.
- 13:40Speaker 1: It was sick bumber when we get when we get
- 13:43Speaker 1: lyrics and we were so funny, and then by the
- 13:46Speaker 1: time we recorded, we had to change some of them
- 13:47Speaker 1: because NBC didn't approve them. Well, this episode is completely
- 13:51Speaker 1: chopped up also, man like, there were so many storylines
- 13:54Speaker 1: that had or it's a funny tarts that had to go. Yeah,
- 13:57Speaker 1: that had to go because they wanted to get all
- 13:59Speaker 1: the songs. There's really only two plots. There's Carlo's deciding
- 14:03Speaker 1: whether she's going to be a working mom and come
- 14:05Speaker 1: back to work or be a state at home mom.
- 14:08Speaker 1: And and uh, Sarah's moving into her new house and
- 14:12Speaker 1: doesn't want me and doesn't want me to move in.
- 14:15Speaker 1: And then and then the woman of course who has
- 14:17Speaker 1: a who has an aneurysm that's causing her to hear
- 14:20Speaker 1: people singing. But but the thing that's taken the plot
- 14:24Speaker 1: that takes over most of the show so we could
- 14:27Speaker 1: is the music obviously, because we wanted to tell that story.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Are you okay? Are you all right? Now? There's they
- 14:34Speaker 1: all have like a little bit of an homage to
- 14:36Speaker 1: a genre. I was going to ask you this year, Yeah,
- 14:39Speaker 1: see some more than others, but name them where I
- 14:44Speaker 1: will see how I do. I wrote down some thoughts
- 14:46Speaker 1: on it, um so the blanks, We're gonna miss you, Carla.
- 14:51Speaker 1: I don't know what do you think? That's an homage too?
- 14:52Speaker 1: It's sort of like a it's like a song from
- 14:54Speaker 1: Grease kind of thing, but there's a clear Grease song later.
- 14:58Speaker 1: But I'm not exactly sure what that is. We're gonna
- 15:00Speaker 1: miss you it maybe barbershop barbershop quartet, ish, you know
- 15:04Speaker 1: what I mean? Right, that's such a good tune I
- 15:07Speaker 1: had forgotten about. We haven't gonna it kind of sounds
- 15:11Speaker 1: like a barbershop quartet when we made the choice to
- 15:21Speaker 1: be at home and not I work you. That was
- 15:23Speaker 1: your entrance, dude. I had to like rewind to watch
- 15:26Speaker 1: it again. It was so good, Thank you very much.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Little homage to uh, you know, yeah, what was your
- 15:33Speaker 1: manage though? You know the king of pop back in
- 15:36Speaker 1: the day, right, Oh yeah, oh yeah, yeah, you did that.
- 15:40Speaker 1: You did that later when in in in Guy Love.
- 15:43Speaker 1: But um, I know it's not probably gonna happen, But
- 15:47Speaker 1: I wish you'd do a Broadway musical because they don't
- 15:50Speaker 1: want me. Man ain't nobody offering me? No damn Broadway musicals.
- 15:53Speaker 1: They don't want me. If they did want me, I
- 15:55Speaker 1: would have done one by now listen, man, talk, you
- 15:57Speaker 1: could talk, we could talk my audition from the one
- 15:59Speaker 1: I did. They're not gonna, They're not gonna do you
- 16:02Speaker 1: audition for Bullets over Broadway? Yeah? Hell yeah? Nice. Um,
- 16:07Speaker 1: I'm gonna. I'm gonna tell you something. Those that go ahead,
- 16:10Speaker 1: hold on, hold on? Is it? Is it something that's
- 16:11Speaker 1: really Let me ask you a question. When you auditioned
- 16:14Speaker 1: for it? Yes? Did you audition against other Broadway performers
- 16:19Speaker 1: and stuff? Um? What I did was I didn't go
- 16:23Speaker 1: to the actual audition. I had to leave town and
- 16:26Speaker 1: I was very terrified to go in an audition. And
- 16:29Speaker 1: so what I did was I had a piano player
- 16:32Speaker 1: come over my house and we videotaped me singing the songs.
- 16:37Speaker 1: And that was the first audition, was singing this song.
- 16:41Speaker 1: And I then forgot about it, like every actor should,
- 16:44Speaker 1: because the best way to get a part is to
- 16:47Speaker 1: is to submit your audition and never think about it again.
- 16:49Speaker 1: So they call you, and I said, I'm never gonna
- 16:51Speaker 1: get this. And then they called me and said Woody
- 16:55Speaker 1: and um, Susan Stroman, who directed it, really liked you.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Now will you read the scene? And then I had
- 17:02Speaker 1: a second audition on tape from LA and I read
- 17:04Speaker 1: the scene and they said they're gonna do a workshop
- 17:06Speaker 1: of it and they want you to play the John
- 17:09Speaker 1: Cusack part. It was, you know, because it's based on
- 17:11Speaker 1: a John Cusack movie, Boody Allen movie. And so I
- 17:16Speaker 1: did the workshop and then officially got the part after
- 17:19Speaker 1: the workshop. Did you listen to any of that? I did.
- 17:24Speaker 1: All I heard was you had like a boutique audition
- 17:27Speaker 1: and then another boutique audition. No, I just videotape myself, right,
- 17:31Speaker 1: And then they were like, it's no different than you
- 17:33Speaker 1: videotaping yourself for a role at home. I just didn't
- 17:35Speaker 1: go in now. Ain't nobody called me and asked me
- 17:38Speaker 1: to videotape myself for this ship? Is what I'm trying
- 17:40Speaker 1: to say. You're sitting here saying you should be a
- 17:42Speaker 1: part of a Broadway. They gotta want you to be
- 17:44Speaker 1: a part of These things have to happen. I can't
- 17:48Speaker 1: just be like, you're right, I'm now on Broadway. Everyone.
- 17:51Speaker 1: It doesn't work that way. Listen. Do you have your
- 17:54Speaker 1: agency has a theater department? Okay, yes, you're gonna go
- 17:57Speaker 1: to your theater agent and you're gonna say hate the
- 18:00Speaker 1: agent Zach Braff, the amazing, amazing that he is, the
- 18:08Speaker 1: amazing actor, director, singer, dancer says. Broadway star Um says,
- 18:14Speaker 1: I should do Broadway? Can you can you if if
- 18:18Speaker 1: a musical that's right for me comes up, can you
- 18:20Speaker 1: flag it out? Because then here's a problem, because then
- 18:23Speaker 1: all of a sudden, Shrek comes up and they're like,
- 18:25Speaker 1: they want you to play Donkey Donald. That's how it works,
- 18:28Speaker 1: how this shit happens. I see how this shit works,
- 18:31Speaker 1: zib I know how this shit works. I know how
- 18:36Speaker 1: they don't call me and say, YO has the next
- 18:38Speaker 1: freaking uh part in Bullets o er Broadway. They go, Donald,
- 18:43Speaker 1: we want you to play uh Mufossa in the Lion King.
- 18:47Speaker 1: That's how it goes. I know how this works. What
- 18:50Speaker 1: we could all be so lucky playing there every fucking night.
- 18:53Speaker 1: If you were saying, I would have to learn how
- 18:56Speaker 1: to fucking work puppets. Man, I'm not gonna do shit.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Bro't you think they're only we're only being they only
- 19:06Speaker 1: audition puppeteers. I mean, when I saw the show, it
- 19:09Speaker 1: was magical like that, it was the puppetry was amazing
- 19:12Speaker 1: that was really the show. Let's keep it. We know
- 19:15Speaker 1: the music we've seen in the movie. All Right, we're
- 19:18Speaker 1: gonna gonna break, let's talk. Just say it, and when
- 19:21Speaker 1: we come back, we're gonna talk more about the legendary
- 19:24Speaker 1: episode that I'm so honored and proud to be a
- 19:27Speaker 1: part of. We'll be right back and we're back. Go Donald,
- 19:43Speaker 1: Go Donald, Go Donald. I gotta I gotta tell you, man,
- 19:47Speaker 1: I was very happy to watch Doctor Cox rap. You know,
- 19:52Speaker 1: that was kind of so that I believe is Gilbert
- 19:54Speaker 1: and Sullivan, if I'm not mistaken. That's sort of that
- 19:56Speaker 1: that like Pirates of the Panzana, Pirates of the Penzans. Yea,
- 20:00Speaker 1: that was awesome. He killed it. He did a great job.
- 20:08Speaker 1: And what about it all started with a penny. There
- 20:15Speaker 1: was that tree I never felt before. Amazing, amazing, um
- 20:24Speaker 1: and then he calls me a moose haired something. I
- 20:27Speaker 1: don't know. I loved it. I loved it. A lot
- 20:32Speaker 1: of it was a lot of it was very like,
- 20:37Speaker 1: there's no way she could yell at you, and all
- 20:39Speaker 1: of a sudden, you're he's going to give her the
- 20:40Speaker 1: surgery or the MRI that she wants. You know, she
- 20:44Speaker 1: yells at you to shut up, and then all of
- 20:46Speaker 1: a sudden she gets the MRI. Well, I think you
- 20:50Speaker 1: can complain. I mean I've I've definitely, like I had
- 20:53Speaker 1: my back problems and they're like, oh, you don't need MRI.
- 20:55Speaker 1: And I'm like, please for the for the for the
- 20:58Speaker 1: for the safety, for the comfort of my mind. But
- 21:02Speaker 1: you pay for it though, no, it's covered by insurance.
- 21:05Speaker 1: I'm lucky enough in this country that has a very
- 21:09Speaker 1: messed up health system to be one of the insured.
- 21:12Speaker 1: There you go, so anyway, yeah you can, you can?
- 21:15Speaker 1: You can say, I mean your doctor can I'm I'm
- 21:17Speaker 1: sure say no. But I've had a doctor say yeah.
- 21:21Speaker 1: I think she could convince him and say please, from
- 21:23Speaker 1: from my peace of mind, can I can you do
- 21:25Speaker 1: the cat scan? I did that with my colonoscopy. I
- 21:27Speaker 1: was like, he was like, you're too young, you don't
- 21:29Speaker 1: need it yet. I was like, please do it. I
- 21:31Speaker 1: don't care. You wanted you wanted that ship. And then
- 21:33Speaker 1: while you're doing it, you were like deeper. He said,
- 21:35Speaker 1: we don't go any deeper, and I was idiot, I
- 21:38Speaker 1: was asleep. I got the real deal, Holy Field. You
- 21:42Speaker 1: were like deeper. Listen, everybody likes a little ass play,
- 21:45Speaker 1: and everybody likes a little ass play. He was like,
- 21:47Speaker 1: this is the girth of the camera even like you
- 21:49Speaker 1: don't like a little ass play though they were like,
- 21:53Speaker 1: they were like, this is the girth of the camera tube.
- 21:55Speaker 1: And you're like, got anything girth here? You're hasten right now,
- 22:01Speaker 1: everybody likes a little ass flight. Don't even act like
- 22:03Speaker 1: you don't. Can I have that, Daniel as one of
- 22:05Speaker 1: the new my new sounds. I'm gonna I'm gonna mark
- 22:08Speaker 1: that one down, thank you. Please? Do they do, whether
- 22:12Speaker 1: it be taking a poop, whether it be a finger,
- 22:16Speaker 1: whether it be a tongue, whether it you know, everybody
- 22:19Speaker 1: likes a little ass flight. I need all of that,
- 22:20Speaker 1: Daniel for the for my sound back to FU say
- 22:25Speaker 1: to stop talking about your willis we're talking about an asshole. Asshole.
- 22:33Speaker 1: What you're trying to get it into? What you're trying
- 22:37Speaker 1: to do. I think we've already established what we're trying.
- 22:42Speaker 1: You know what you're trying to get into. Okay, So
- 22:45Speaker 1: um do not Okay, that's no try. Yeah, that's true.
- 22:49Speaker 1: I read something online. I'm sorry I got excited about
- 22:54Speaker 1: all my buttons. Um, you've read some line at what
- 22:57Speaker 1: I read it. They had this thread. I always send
- 22:59Speaker 1: you guys, you and Juell these threads that I'm sure
- 23:01Speaker 1: you don't read. But it's like Reddit. Heead this thread
- 23:03Speaker 1: that was like what's your most unpopular Star Wars opinion
- 23:07Speaker 1: or something like that, and someone said, Yoda, UM barely
- 23:12Speaker 1: did the backwards talking in the beginning, and then it
- 23:15Speaker 1: became like out of control. M Oh wow, that's pretty good.
- 23:21Speaker 1: I'd see it. You see it, Joel's going through dialogue?
- 23:28Speaker 1: What did you say? Yes? So when the song when
- 23:32Speaker 1: the Truth comes out? Um is sort of a lame
- 23:34Speaker 1: is homage. M hmmmm, which I thought, Yes, it's that
- 23:41Speaker 1: end of Act one, do you hit No, Actually it's
- 23:45Speaker 1: a one more day end of Act one, one more
- 23:48Speaker 1: day but one. Yeah, the same thing, same lame is
- 23:51Speaker 1: big full company number, that kind of thing. Mhm. But
- 23:56Speaker 1: I thought it was so well done. I mean, did
- 23:58Speaker 1: you get excited? I got so excited. All right, this
- 24:01Speaker 1: is the song I was talking about. I'm sure you
- 24:08Speaker 1: must be scared, not knowing what this test will bring
- 24:11Speaker 1: go ahead. It could prove that you are crazy. Do
- 24:14Speaker 1: you still hear people sing yep? It's best to know
- 24:18Speaker 1: the truth of that I have no doubt, but you'll
- 24:22Speaker 1: have to face the future when the truth comes out.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Test that's a waste of our time. But aliciall except
- 24:30Speaker 1: that she's medically find she'll admit that she's nuts. Are
- 24:32Speaker 1: all to say, Oh, it's so good, it's really good.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Can we play thirty of each songs? You will as
- 24:40Speaker 1: long as you guys are analyzing the song and talking
- 24:43Speaker 1: about it specifically. Yes, Okay, well I'm learning something, but
- 24:46Speaker 1: most importantly i'm learning let's face the facts about me
- 24:52Speaker 1: and you. Specified though I'm proud to call you chocolate
- 25:00Speaker 1: there the crowd always tall and stay exactly those feelings too,
- 25:07Speaker 1: and that's why I keep them inside fire. Can't bear
- 25:12Speaker 1: the girls to stay. And sometimes it's kizy, you're too
- 25:16Speaker 1: high and explain my guy love. It's so beautiful now mine,
- 25:26Speaker 1: I'm there's some funny as ship in that. Now. I mean,
- 25:30Speaker 1: you're the only man who's ever been inside of me, right,
- 25:33Speaker 1: And I hold up my fist. Took it, yeah, meaning
- 25:36Speaker 1: insinuating that I fisted your butthole. But I'm saying I'm saying, dude,
- 25:42Speaker 1: I just took your stitches out. I just put stitches. Yeah,
- 25:45Speaker 1: But I like, I like, I go, and I go.
- 25:46Speaker 1: I like that I go. There's no need to clarify
- 25:49Speaker 1: and oh no, sure, are you sure? Because you put
- 25:56Speaker 1: your fist up. That ship is so funny. My other
- 26:00Speaker 1: favorite thing is that when we go, let's go and
- 26:03Speaker 1: we and we just go to bed. Yeah, we go
- 26:06Speaker 1: right to the end of the bed. I love how
- 26:11Speaker 1: I point you guys were with that. Also, the facial
- 26:13Speaker 1: expressions you give, like both of you throughout, it's so
- 26:17Speaker 1: really selling the moment. I love. I hate to tell
- 26:20Speaker 1: you this, but we were really trying to sing the
- 26:22Speaker 1: shit out of this song too. Like we're sitting there
- 26:25Speaker 1: like everybody looks at it like it's a joke, because
- 26:27Speaker 1: it obviously is a joke, and we are making a joke,
- 26:30Speaker 1: but we're sincerely trying to fucking say, Okay, this is
- 26:36Speaker 1: real deal, Holy Field. This wasn't no fucking let's that
- 26:39Speaker 1: was a pre record though Donald wasn't it. Yeah, it
- 26:41Speaker 1: was a pre record, but we weren't in the pre record.
- 26:44Speaker 1: They had bet they had Mike's on us too. So
- 26:45Speaker 1: when we said when like when Donald did his like
- 26:50Speaker 1: and then and then and then when I go, when
- 26:53Speaker 1: he go, when he puts his hand, I go no hand, hands, dude,
- 26:59Speaker 1: I still use no hands. I still use that no
- 27:01Speaker 1: hands baby hugs hugs. Now, this is a much underappreciated,
- 27:06Speaker 1: not talked about song in this particular episode. I've had
- 27:12Speaker 1: it to hear, so let me make it very clear,
- 27:15Speaker 1: because I swear I'll never could you win again every
- 27:18Speaker 1: time that you profess that come from Puerto Rico? Yea
- 27:21Speaker 1: for the last time, I'm domit again. Don't make a
- 27:27Speaker 1: big to do. I was simply testing you. Then why'd
- 27:31Speaker 1: you tell j DR babies black Sican? Soulless boy? Though
- 27:38Speaker 1: about me? Were no sex again? Oh my god, that
- 27:41Speaker 1: shit was amazing. Your name is Carla. You got that
- 27:45Speaker 1: day that I sent you. I emailed you all the lyrics,
- 27:49Speaker 1: by the way, if you wanted to reference them. I
- 27:52Speaker 1: love that song, that song. I laughed so much when
- 27:55Speaker 1: I first read that song and we sang it like,
- 27:58Speaker 1: why'd you tell jd Our baby black Xicin? Then why
- 28:01Speaker 1: do you tell j d our babies black Ican? I
- 28:03Speaker 1: think that's a great way to scribe ethnic children. What
- 28:09Speaker 1: are you you know right away? I'm black Xican, have black,
- 28:13Speaker 1: have Mexican. That's a Blackxican baby right there? Baby, that's
- 28:16Speaker 1: a Black Sican baby. That shit is hilarious to me.
- 28:21Speaker 1: That ship, dude, it was so funny. I was so funny.
- 28:25Speaker 1: And the lyrics, I'm I want to I think it's
- 28:29Speaker 1: Deb before them. I don't know, I'm of course it's
- 28:32Speaker 1: all the writers, but Deb, you were the head writer
- 28:34Speaker 1: on this episode. Um, the lyrics are so funny and um,
- 28:39Speaker 1: and you guys are just amazing, Like I would you
- 28:41Speaker 1: know there was there was talk of making a Scrubs musical. Um. Yeah,
- 28:45Speaker 1: Branda was trying, Randall Winston was trying to develop it.
- 28:48Speaker 1: I'm sure there'll probably be one one day. Um, and
- 28:51Speaker 1: we can go see it, and I would, I would cheer.
- 28:54Speaker 1: You know, they made a clueless musical. Uh, and Dove
- 28:57Speaker 1: Cameron played share and did wonderful job, you know what
- 29:01Speaker 1: I mean. Like Amy Heckling was involved and directed it
- 29:05Speaker 1: in everything, you know, I don't see why they couldn't
- 29:07Speaker 1: do a Scrubs musical. And it doesn't even have to
- 29:10Speaker 1: be this musical episode. It could be any episode you
- 29:13Speaker 1: could well you would, you could have only that's right.
- 29:18Speaker 1: I get you. You'd have to add, yeah, a lot
- 29:21Speaker 1: more songs because there's not enough. But you could create
- 29:24Speaker 1: a whole brand new episode doesn't necessarily have to be
- 29:27Speaker 1: about someone hearing sing, even though that works, and you know,
- 29:31Speaker 1: make a I totally see this happening, or see a
- 29:35Speaker 1: version of this happening. I don't necessarily see us in it,
- 29:38Speaker 1: but I see it happening. We're not gonna be in it.
- 29:40Speaker 1: We're too old. It has to be about young people,
- 29:43Speaker 1: like if they did screw like, that's what sucks. If
- 29:46Speaker 1: they did scrubs. Now, how many fingers do you see? Emergency?
- 29:54Speaker 1: I'm really not your thirty second? Is there someone here
- 30:01Speaker 1: with you, someone that we could talk? I said, I'm
- 30:06Speaker 1: by myself. I know y'all saying that's what she would
- 30:21Speaker 1: really be doing. The fuck is everybody saying? What the
- 30:24Speaker 1: fucking saying? You know? It'll be funny if the character
- 30:31Speaker 1: hated musicals, that'd be even better. Oh no, not another one,
- 30:38Speaker 1: another one? No hands um? All right, then we get
- 30:43Speaker 1: this classic hold on um, remember this one, Donald, hold
- 30:47Speaker 1: on We French be French, forever, always be true forever.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Alway there you fer as close as the orta best friends.
- 31:12Speaker 1: Just like, why are you trying to Sarah singing? She says,
- 31:24Speaker 1: I love Sarah. Oh there's our girl. I love Sarah,
- 31:28Speaker 1: but I have to say, amongst her many talents, and
- 31:31Speaker 1: she has many talents, she's a phenomenal actress. She's beautiful,
- 31:36Speaker 1: she's so kind, she's an amazing mom. Singing is not
- 31:41Speaker 1: in her top six things. No, I would say it's
- 31:48Speaker 1: sports and singing that she's probably now she can snowboard.
- 31:52Speaker 1: I know that she's a good snowboarder because she's Campian.
- 31:55Speaker 1: You know, Sarah was looking for a school sport when
- 31:59Speaker 1: she was younger and had settle for shot put. Can
- 32:04Speaker 1: you imagine Sara and shot put? No, and only mean
- 32:07Speaker 1: why she got shot puts because there wasn't enough interest.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Shot Put is the dumbest sport. No, I disagree. I disagree.
- 32:19Speaker 1: I'm sorry if you're into shot put, but can you
- 32:21Speaker 1: imagine putting that much time into shot put? It's a
- 32:24Speaker 1: technique that is yeah, and it goes nowhere. The thing
- 32:28Speaker 1: it comes after you after you've become the best shot
- 32:32Speaker 1: put her in the world. This stunts the moment the
- 32:34Speaker 1: ball where you spent around. Come on, you got to
- 32:38Speaker 1: take someone out from far away? Though, right right, right right,
- 32:45Speaker 1: there was an attack. No, maybe if they added an
- 32:48Speaker 1: element to shot put like hit a dude, right, moving targets.
- 32:54Speaker 1: Moving targets is a good idea. That's well, and then
- 32:58Speaker 1: it's no longer. It's what's another funny one? Throwing the hammer,
- 33:03Speaker 1: then throwing the hammer. Is that the same one? Or
- 33:05Speaker 1: is that a different that's different? There's javelin, javelin? Okay,
- 33:12Speaker 1: job one's is John One's still in the Olympics. I've
- 33:16Speaker 1: always and I've always disc that's another dumb one. I'm sorry,
- 33:20Speaker 1: dis because players heavy frisbee. Yeah, what about what about
- 33:26Speaker 1: Hackey Sack not in the Olympics on the Olympics, that's
- 33:30Speaker 1: just stoner. Hackey Sack is in the Olympic. Hold on,
- 33:33Speaker 1: Hackey Sack has been in the Olympics before. Look it up. No, yeah,
- 33:37Speaker 1: look it up. But you know what I've always you know,
- 33:39Speaker 1: who I've always been jealous of is those people who
- 33:42Speaker 1: can do U stick thing Hija running stick him running stick.
- 33:53Speaker 1: There you go, Oh my god, oh my god, running stick.
- 34:01Speaker 1: I think pole vaulting is cool. Oh yeah. Vacouver Olympics
- 34:07Speaker 1: twenty ten Hackettack footage crazy skilled Vacouber Olympics. I think
- 34:11Speaker 1: this is simply at the Olympics. I don't know if
- 34:13Speaker 1: this is due I played it in the video game, Dude,
- 34:21Speaker 1: I know it. Well, maybe in the video game it
- 34:23Speaker 1: was was that Joel. I'm seeing a lot I digress.
- 34:29Speaker 1: I'm seeing a lot of love for the new Star
- 34:31Speaker 1: Trek video game Daniel and Joel and dance Star Trek
- 34:35Speaker 1: video Games. There is a new Star Trek video game out.
- 34:39Speaker 1: I don't know one which console, but for some reason
- 34:42Speaker 1: it keeps coming up in my feed saying it's getting
- 34:44Speaker 1: good reviews. Interesting. I have not seen a trailer. Let
- 34:50Speaker 1: me see you start reviews, I said, said the best
- 34:52Speaker 1: video game ever to be made about the property. I
- 34:57Speaker 1: definitely are you intrigued? Yes, a little bit. And the
- 35:02Speaker 1: article I saw had a had an image of the
- 35:05Speaker 1: sparking character. Oh, Ubi Soft Start Surgeons is friends and
- 35:12Speaker 1: yeah yeah and two all right, all right, well can
- 35:18Speaker 1: you ask our friends at Ubisoft to send me the
- 35:20Speaker 1: spot game? Because I don't want to. I need I
- 35:22Speaker 1: think I might need to get into video game. I
- 35:24Speaker 1: have a little downtime. Donald, come on, you want to
- 35:27Speaker 1: get into dude, you didn't want to listen to me Zelda.
- 35:31Speaker 1: I don't think Zelda is gonna be my thing. I
- 35:32Speaker 1: don't want to have a I don't want to I'm
- 35:34Speaker 1: weigh into more than natural, like like Hitman or the
- 35:37Speaker 1: Cowboy one you mentioned I liked. Yeah, I just that
- 35:42Speaker 1: it was the story of that game is so gripping,
- 35:46Speaker 1: it's so so so good. Yeah, I think that's more
- 35:48Speaker 1: my speed. Now I do have the latest hit Man,
- 35:51Speaker 1: and it made me really scared. I was. I was,
- 35:55Speaker 1: I really it was so realistic. Yeah that I I
- 35:59Speaker 1: was frightened. I was. I panicked. Okay, it hasn't been
- 36:03Speaker 1: in the Olympics, but okay, find long enough. Okay, let's
- 36:10Speaker 1: just drive by the way. Okay, we're gonna let the
- 36:12Speaker 1: guest in in a second. But I want to give
- 36:13Speaker 1: a shout out to that you're going to be Okay.
- 36:15Speaker 1: That was more like a rent song. That's what's going
- 36:18Speaker 1: to happen. Everything's okay. Five thousand, twenty five thousand, six
- 36:24Speaker 1: hundred ninety five thousand, little emotional this to happen. It's
- 36:49Speaker 1: so pretty, it's really lovely. This would not have worked
- 36:52Speaker 1: at all if all of these creative groups didn't come together.
- 36:56Speaker 1: It's you know, all I kept thinking about was how
- 36:59Speaker 1: many of these dances were in La La Land. A
- 37:01Speaker 1: lot of those dancers are all the background people were
- 37:05Speaker 1: professional dancers, and well, keep in mind, this is twenty
- 37:09Speaker 1: I don't know if it's twenty how many years ago,
- 37:11Speaker 1: two thousand and six. I'm bad at Matthew sixteen years ago.
- 37:15Speaker 1: So some of them man have retired, but La Land, Okay,
- 37:19Speaker 1: don't yell about some of them even sang in La
- 37:21Speaker 1: La Land. Listen, can sang, well, I'm gonna see that
- 37:26Speaker 1: Donald found. Donald's connection to this was trying to figure
- 37:29Speaker 1: out how many people from this may have been in
- 37:32Speaker 1: La La Land. That's right. I think about that day
- 37:36Speaker 1: because this is the this is the opening number all
- 37:39Speaker 1: over again. I met, I left him at a Grayhound
- 37:43Speaker 1: stationed weston Santa Fe. We were seventeen and he was young,
- 37:49Speaker 1: and it was true. I knew what I had to do.
- 37:54Speaker 1: She didn't even give him a chance to come to Paris.
- 37:57Speaker 1: Give him a chance. I was jazz blubbling Paris in Paris. Yeah,
- 38:03Speaker 1: why can't Why why not invite him as huge in Paris? Yeah,
- 38:07Speaker 1: like we have, we have this insane connection, and why
- 38:11Speaker 1: don't you come work? Did you ever watch the Aristocrats?
- 38:14Speaker 1: Did you ever watch the Aristocrats? Were freaking Cruella to
- 38:18Speaker 1: build the one hundred and one Dalmatians jazz was huge
- 38:21Speaker 1: Cruella del Okay, that's a weird reference. But I just
- 38:25Speaker 1: want to say that there's no reason that he couldn't
- 38:29Speaker 1: have gone to Paris. All right, let's go to break
- 38:31Speaker 1: and when we come back, we're gonna have a guest
- 38:33Speaker 1: and they better have a good musical question Joel or
- 38:36Speaker 1: I'm all I'm saying is he could have went to
- 38:39Speaker 1: Paris with him. Yeah, we'll be back. We got it.
- 38:49Speaker 1: We're back. We are back. Welcome to a show. All right, kids, Um,
- 38:58Speaker 1: we're back. Let's bring in um the caller. I'm so
- 39:01Speaker 1: excited we didn't we missed a caller last week. I
- 39:03Speaker 1: apologize it was my fault. And now we have a caller.
- 39:06Speaker 1: Let's do it. Play that song? Can talk, you know,
- 39:14Speaker 1: like a booke z maybe talking about the episode. So
- 39:21Speaker 1: come on, let's get Oh ladies and gentlemen, give it
- 39:28Speaker 1: up for Ryan and Jenna before you even say an even.
- 39:40Speaker 1: I just wanted the audience to know that they couldn't
- 39:43Speaker 1: have a more perfect background for this podcast. One is
- 39:47Speaker 1: a poster of Star Wars, and one is a poster
- 39:50Speaker 1: of Cosette and Lames rob and Um, you get us,
- 39:54Speaker 1: you get us. You guys should just come before you
- 39:59Speaker 1: even speak. You should just joined the show as regular
- 40:02Speaker 1: co hosts because you understand us. I should die now
- 40:09Speaker 1: she goes across the sea. Life without Cosette means nothing
- 40:13Speaker 1: at all? What's that if I were to fall? See that?
- 40:26Speaker 1: All right? Hi guys, welcome to the program. Um. We
- 40:28Speaker 1: obviously have shared interests. Um Um, tell us about yourselves
- 40:33Speaker 1: and how Joel chose you. What did you write? You
- 40:35Speaker 1: must have written something juicy. I don't know about juicy. Um.
- 40:40Speaker 1: You know we've been fans of the party. Sound like
- 40:43Speaker 1: Elvis man, he came in smooth and it didn't he
- 40:46Speaker 1: he came in real smooth. But okay, Ryan, I don't know.
- 40:50Speaker 1: I don't know about it. I don't know all that.
- 40:54Speaker 1: But I'll tell you I did have a I did
- 40:56Speaker 1: have a brief call with Joel and real, Oh my gosh,
- 41:01Speaker 1: I was able. You want to get get that, get
- 41:09Speaker 1: that recorded for me and so I can play my
- 41:11Speaker 1: students and up my street credit a little bit. That
- 41:12Speaker 1: because I send an email, I asked Joel to hop
- 41:17Speaker 1: on the phone. So now I've got so now I've
- 41:24Speaker 1: got you know, with the beard. It's a bit different,
- 41:26Speaker 1: but a lot of my life I've been given the
- 41:29Speaker 1: you look a little like Zach Braff, and now I've
- 41:31Speaker 1: got Tack doing an impression of me. That's pretty surreal. Well,
- 41:34Speaker 1: you're gonna have it because this podcast will be out
- 41:36Speaker 1: there for all the world and you can make it
- 41:38Speaker 1: your ring tone. Can't wait? All right, guys, what's your question?
- 41:43Speaker 1: Go ahead? Tell us, tell us about yourself. So we
- 41:45Speaker 1: we wrote in because, you know, asides from being great
- 41:49Speaker 1: fans of the show, we thought it would be really
- 41:52Speaker 1: neat if you had a couple of music teachers on
- 41:55Speaker 1: to for the my musical episode. That's one of them.
- 41:59Speaker 1: Is good? All right, I'm not gonna have to flip
- 42:01Speaker 1: the desk. Thank god, thank god, thank god. You're both
- 42:05Speaker 1: music teachers. And for what? For what grade I teach?
- 42:09Speaker 1: Or or I guess what ages? Yeah, I'm a middle
- 42:11Speaker 1: school teacher. I teach band in orchestra and jazz, and
- 42:15Speaker 1: I do a choir with six through twelve grade six
- 42:18Speaker 1: through twelve. Oh my god, is it as fun as
- 42:21Speaker 1: it seems on Glee? Because it just looks like they're
- 42:24Speaker 1: having such a good time. I can't stand Glee because
- 42:26Speaker 1: it's so not real. I love the music. The music
- 42:31Speaker 1: of it is really really great. And I've done some
- 42:33Speaker 1: of those arrangers, arrangements and with my groups before, so
- 42:36Speaker 1: there's that's always now you must have a kid, both
- 42:38Speaker 1: of you who you I imagine this is exciting when
- 42:43Speaker 1: so many of the children have good talent and average
- 42:45Speaker 1: talent and it's just they're they're living their best selves
- 42:48Speaker 1: because they're expressing themselves through music and song. But it
- 42:52Speaker 1: must be so thrilling when you go, oh my god,
- 42:55Speaker 1: we got one on the hook. We got a kid
- 42:56Speaker 1: that's extra special. Got a few of those. And the
- 43:02Speaker 1: really rewarding part is when that that creates a feedback
- 43:05Speaker 1: loop with other kids and they see that passion and
- 43:08Speaker 1: it becomes contagious. They get inspired. They go, I want
- 43:12Speaker 1: to be as good as so and so right very much.
- 43:15Speaker 1: It's fun to watch. Oh, I want to I want
- 43:17Speaker 1: to be a teacher. Donald, you are a teacher. I
- 43:21Speaker 1: occasionally would go to Northwestern where I went to college,
- 43:23Speaker 1: and uh and and give a try and give you know,
- 43:27Speaker 1: speeches and and give back to the to the college
- 43:30Speaker 1: kids in some way, which I should do again because
- 43:32Speaker 1: I got so much out of it. It's so fulfilling.
- 43:34Speaker 1: But but, um, you're doing this at such a young
- 43:37Speaker 1: age where you're really shape. You're these kids who are
- 43:40Speaker 1: in your classes, they must love it. This is probably
- 43:41Speaker 1: their favorite class, right for many of them? Yeah, for
- 43:44Speaker 1: for for so many it's the reason that they choose
- 43:47Speaker 1: to come to school, you know, particularly now when we're
- 43:50Speaker 1: all going through various struggles over the last couple of years.
- 43:54Speaker 1: If you can tell a kid, hey, you know, we'll
- 43:56Speaker 1: get you out of a textbook and we'll get you
- 43:58Speaker 1: out of, you know, all the rigors of your typical subjects,
- 44:01Speaker 1: and you can come in and create and and be
- 44:04Speaker 1: who you are and be accepted for who you are.
- 44:06Speaker 1: And um, that's that's mostly mostly what everybody needs. How
- 44:11Speaker 1: are you as a teacher? Um? Um, are you able
- 44:16Speaker 1: to teach any instrument? I mean, how does that work?
- 44:18Speaker 1: That's a good question. So we actually the short answers, Yes,
- 44:22Speaker 1: we compliment each other pretty well. Um. Part of our
- 44:25Speaker 1: clear your training is learning how to play all these instruments,
- 44:28Speaker 1: so we can be effective instructors. But whatever I don't play,
- 44:32Speaker 1: she plays, and vice versa. So it's sort of just
- 44:35Speaker 1: it worked out. Are there kids in your class that
- 44:37Speaker 1: play any of the instruments better than you. That's the
- 44:41Speaker 1: end goal. That's I would like. Yeah, yeah, no, they will,
- 44:46Speaker 1: they will eventually, eventually, they will eventually. I just wondered
- 44:50Speaker 1: if there's anyone who's like a mega standard. They definitely
- 44:52Speaker 1: have a few. Absolutely. I love that. I love that
- 44:56Speaker 1: you're you're sharing music because it can be taught in
- 44:59Speaker 1: so many ways. There's so many instruments, there's so many
- 45:02Speaker 1: ways to use your voice, there's so many ways to
- 45:04Speaker 1: be musical, and you know, just opening the door for
- 45:09Speaker 1: someone like you guys are talking about. Yeah, sure there's standouts,
- 45:13Speaker 1: but there's going to be somebody that takes what you
- 45:16Speaker 1: teach them and take it to a level that you
- 45:19Speaker 1: guys never expected to ever ever see. And the impact
- 45:23Speaker 1: you're going to have on these children because of course,
- 45:25Speaker 1: of course a few may pursue music, but also the
- 45:29Speaker 1: skill sets you're giving them to stand in front of
- 45:31Speaker 1: an audience, to have the courage to put themselves out there,
- 45:35Speaker 1: to perform, to work with each other. I mean, think
- 45:39Speaker 1: of all the different skills, you know, you think about
- 45:42Speaker 1: all the bullshit. There's an old Paul Simon lyric. When
- 45:45Speaker 1: I think back on all the crap I learned in
- 45:48Speaker 1: high school. It's a wonder I can think at all.
- 45:52Speaker 1: And you know, there's a lot of stuff you learned
- 45:54Speaker 1: that you're like, why the fuck that I learned that.
- 45:57Speaker 1: I would have rather learned how to fix my car.
- 45:59Speaker 1: I'd rather learn how to do my taxes. I'd rather
- 46:01Speaker 1: learn how to play a fucking instrument, for the love
- 46:03Speaker 1: of God. Um. So my point is is that you're
- 46:08Speaker 1: teaching them a skill set that isn't just singing and
- 46:12Speaker 1: and and we're playing an instrument. It's collaborating with their peers,
- 46:16Speaker 1: having the courage to stand in front of a group. Um,
- 46:19Speaker 1: you know. So that's so important anytime you want to
- 46:22Speaker 1: come on behind, give the pitch man. We love. It's
- 46:27Speaker 1: like you guys are doing good on your own. Where
- 46:29Speaker 1: where are you? Where are you? Where? Where? What? Where
- 46:31Speaker 1: is this happening? We live in a very little town
- 46:34Speaker 1: called burn, Indiana, near the Fort Wayne area, and I
- 46:37Speaker 1: teach him and she's here in town from Chicago and
- 46:41Speaker 1: I'm from Ohio. We kind of ended up in the
- 46:42Speaker 1: middle Fort Wayne, Indiana. In the middle. We have a
- 46:46Speaker 1: friend that was on a show about the Middle Indiana,
- 46:52Speaker 1: Neil Flynn. Flynn Indiana to consider the middle Well, that's
- 46:57Speaker 1: what that's where the show takes place, isn't it. I
- 46:59Speaker 1: think I guess it's a middle class that they're talking
- 47:01Speaker 1: about on that one. Why I think, yes, I think
- 47:04Speaker 1: they're referencing being but not in the middle of the
- 47:07Speaker 1: country because the middle of the country isn't I don't know,
- 47:11Speaker 1: I don't know. Um, all right, so do you guys
- 47:14Speaker 1: have a question for us? Yes? Absolutely, Um, we kind
- 47:17Speaker 1: of had a thought we'd start with a fun one. Um,
- 47:20Speaker 1: you know, for my musical. You guys turned the sitcom
- 47:23Speaker 1: Scrubs into a musical. What musical would you then try
- 47:29Speaker 1: to turn into a sitcom? And who wouldn't cast? Oh shit? Wow? Um?
- 47:38Speaker 1: If I could turn a musical into a sitcom, well,
- 47:41Speaker 1: that's a really hard that's a tough one. They do
- 47:45Speaker 1: it a lot, you know, uh h if Okay, So
- 47:50Speaker 1: let's go Disney musicals because that's probably ones that are
- 47:53Speaker 1: easily viewed, like they did Cinderella and they made it
- 47:56Speaker 1: so it wasn't a musical and that worked kind of.
- 47:59Speaker 1: I guess any of those fairy tales could work, uh
- 48:03Speaker 1: not as musical, but if you like talking traditional Broadway
- 48:09Speaker 1: is Way more verse than now. Yeah, Donald just knows
- 48:11Speaker 1: Disney musicals. I'm trying to think of what would be
- 48:13Speaker 1: a good what's a um Something Rotten was a great
- 48:18Speaker 1: musical that I really loved. I know this is sort
- 48:21Speaker 1: of a weird reference because most people won't get it
- 48:23Speaker 1: unless you're a Broadway geek. But I think that could
- 48:27Speaker 1: make a good That would have made a good series.
- 48:31Speaker 1: Um Noise Bringing the Funk would be a great live
- 48:37Speaker 1: action from a series. Just take out all the tapping
- 48:42Speaker 1: and all the music and just have people talk, oh
- 48:45Speaker 1: my gosh, he's he's. And then what if you were
- 48:53Speaker 1: to take you know, something that's been on TV, you know,
- 48:56Speaker 1: if it was mash or Cheers or I Love Lucier,
- 48:58Speaker 1: you know, something like that, and put it on Broadway.
- 49:01Speaker 1: What would you what would you pick there? Oh? Well,
- 49:04Speaker 1: that's I mean, you could do anything with that. Buffy
- 49:06Speaker 1: the Vampire Slayer is a great Broadway show. All of
- 49:08Speaker 1: these things, like, when you really think about it, any
- 49:11Speaker 1: any any television you could turn into into a musical
- 49:15Speaker 1: because you're adding an extra exciting element. And the Buffy
- 49:19Speaker 1: I didn't see it, but Buffy did him. It's one
- 49:20Speaker 1: of the best. It's one of the best TV. Yeah,
- 49:23Speaker 1: it's one of the best TVs ever. It's like this
- 49:25Speaker 1: uh this uh witch or not a witch. It's like
- 49:28Speaker 1: a demon comes to town or something like that and
- 49:31Speaker 1: makes it so everybody has to sing the shit scary too.
- 49:34Speaker 1: It's not like some there's a silent episode. Yo. You
- 49:37Speaker 1: want to talk about dope television. Buffy the Vampire Slayer,
- 49:41Speaker 1: That Yo, that's some dope TV. Be Joel is furiously
- 49:45Speaker 1: gnawing her head. I've never seen an episode of Buffy,
- 49:50Speaker 1: have you, Dan? Oh? Dude, it's good, man, it's good,
- 49:53Speaker 1: like straight of a vampire guy. As soon as you
- 49:56Speaker 1: say vamp, I don't show I started this is the
- 49:59Speaker 1: show would have started it all though, you know what
- 50:01Speaker 1: I mean. Buffy the movie, uh started all of that shit.
- 50:05Speaker 1: And then and then to tell them other than doctor Acula,
- 50:08Speaker 1: I'm not much interested in anyone else's tell Dracula would
- 50:12Speaker 1: be a great music Doctor Accula the musical, great musical.
- 50:15Speaker 1: Maybe guys can have the Jackson the musical Alabama Jack.
- 50:19Speaker 1: I'd love to make that musical. A don't swim, let's
- 50:22Speaker 1: make it. Um, all right, what's your next question? Um?
- 50:28Speaker 1: We we love watching shows repeatedly and tracking character development
- 50:33Speaker 1: and evolution, you know, through those shows. Sometimes Jad and Turk,
- 50:36Speaker 1: as you guys have said, are indistinguishable from Zach and Donald. Um,
- 50:41Speaker 1: in what unexpected ways did these characters evolved during the show?
- 50:44Speaker 1: And I guess, in what unexpected ways did portraying these
- 50:48Speaker 1: characters change you as people? It became it's a great question,
- 50:51Speaker 1: and it became more and more me and Donald because Um,
- 50:55Speaker 1: Bill would like, you know, run on the storylines, and
- 50:57Speaker 1: he would just be like, what did you and Donald
- 50:58Speaker 1: do this weekend? The next episode? The next episode? No,
- 51:07Speaker 1: we really, you know, because the characters. I think one
- 51:09Speaker 1: of the reasons we got the parts was we were
- 51:11Speaker 1: we were similar to the characters, really, I mean, um
- 51:16Speaker 1: and and then and then we leaned into it, and
- 51:19Speaker 1: Bill evolved the characters around us and around our strengths
- 51:23Speaker 1: and around what we found funny and thank god, you know,
- 51:27Speaker 1: Bill and and and we is that the way say it?
- 51:30Speaker 1: We and Bill, Bill and Bill and us have the
- 51:33Speaker 1: same have the same sense of humor. I'm not going
- 51:35Speaker 1: to get upset about it. I don't think that we. Um.
- 51:38Speaker 1: Here's a great question. I'm gonna build off of yours.
- 51:41Speaker 1: Down is there any way any way that you're nothing
- 51:44Speaker 1: like Turk. No, I mean feel like I'm not a
- 51:55Speaker 1: doctor like No, I'm I mean, I mean other than
- 51:58Speaker 1: the obvious, I mean like personality wise, I think you're pretty.
- 52:02Speaker 1: I mean, he is a a family man, You're very funny.
- 52:09Speaker 1: Everything that I played in Turk was I don't like
- 52:11Speaker 1: Apple teenis and that upsets people. So I'm sorry to
- 52:13Speaker 1: have to tell you that. Um, I love sports like
- 52:18Speaker 1: I once tweeted that. I once tweeted that, and everyone
- 52:21Speaker 1: someone wrote everything I believed is a lie. That's a
- 52:27Speaker 1: little Um. Yeah, I mean I think that. Yeah, I think.
- 52:33Speaker 1: I think as you see from as you hear from
- 52:37Speaker 1: listening to the podcast, we are we are quite similar,
- 52:39Speaker 1: I think to the to the characters. That's probably why
- 52:41Speaker 1: the reasons this has been so popular for people because
- 52:45Speaker 1: it's kind of like just chilling with with j D
- 52:48Speaker 1: and Turk in a lot of ways, except we're allowed
- 52:50Speaker 1: to curse now and um and uh. We we sometimes
- 52:54Speaker 1: get explicit, like when we had that couple on Joel,
- 52:58Speaker 1: we're due for them to come back. We need to
- 53:00Speaker 1: check in see if there's been any evolution. Mention them
- 53:04Speaker 1: every single episode. No, we don't. We don't fascinating maybe
- 53:09Speaker 1: fascinating situation maybe once a month. It's it's the most
- 53:13Speaker 1: Jerry Springer we ever got, and we're kind of don't, don't, don't, don't.
- 53:17Speaker 1: I don't think it's Jerry Springer. It's just the most
- 53:19Speaker 1: fascinating situation. We both are into what they were talking about,
- 53:24Speaker 1: and so we want to hear more. It's more curious.
- 53:26Speaker 1: They're very good guests, but you guys are better. All right,
- 53:29Speaker 1: it's time for Fort Wayne, Indiana's favorite segment. Donald, it's
- 53:33Speaker 1: time to fix your We have some new sound effects
- 53:43Speaker 1: to go along with that one you just heard. Um,
- 53:46Speaker 1: I might try this one, or I might try this one.
- 53:52Speaker 1: All right, that's Jerry Springer that one. Listen to the
- 53:58Speaker 1: last episode that you posted like this morning, like whatever
- 54:01Speaker 1: came up this? Okay, so you've heard some of these
- 54:04Speaker 1: signs of the sound pity, Yeah, pretty much. My whole
- 54:10Speaker 1: desk is sound pads. Now, all right, go ahead, how
- 54:14Speaker 1: do we fix your life? We're good at this. We're
- 54:15Speaker 1: all rusty. You haven't had a guest in a moment,
- 54:17Speaker 1: so we're ready. Donald lean forward. Here we go go
- 54:20Speaker 1: like Donald, lean forward and go like this. So art
- 54:24Speaker 1: fix your life is on behalf of fine arts teachers
- 54:27Speaker 1: and students everywhere. We feel that, you know, a lot
- 54:30Speaker 1: of our students are stressed and drained. Mental health is
- 54:33Speaker 1: suffering in our schools. And the arts, as we said earlier,
- 54:37Speaker 1: give students and communities a creative outlet and an escape.
- 54:40Speaker 1: But nationwide, a lot of these programs are facing cutbacks.
- 54:44Speaker 1: You both clearly had meaningful arts experiences as part of
- 54:48Speaker 1: your education. Drawing on those, how would you advocate for
- 54:52Speaker 1: fine art programs in school or help us advocate? Tell u,
- 54:57Speaker 1: I mean, tell us, First of all, you've got a
- 54:59Speaker 1: whole a ton of people listening right now, So tell
- 55:02Speaker 1: us and them, um, what to do. I know that
- 55:07Speaker 1: this is a problem. I know that schools are cutting
- 55:09Speaker 1: back on these programs because of budget cuts, particularly public schools. Um,
- 55:16Speaker 1: that's where the hits are really taken it. You know,
- 55:18Speaker 1: we go to private because of all of the budget
- 55:20Speaker 1: cuts that are happening in public schools, which is it's
- 55:23Speaker 1: it's it's you know, for people that are in public
- 55:27Speaker 1: school and have to deal with some of these cutbacks,
- 55:30Speaker 1: it's very very scary. Like, yeah, you know, the schools
- 55:33Speaker 1: in La there's a nurse that comes once a month,
- 55:35Speaker 1: you know what I mean, there's no nurse stationed in schools.
- 55:38Speaker 1: So if your child has a nut allergy, or if
- 55:40Speaker 1: something happens and a nurse just doesn't happen to be
- 55:43Speaker 1: there that day. You know, it's like there's so many
- 55:45Speaker 1: there's so many things, Jim, that's that's that's on its
- 55:49Speaker 1: way out the door, you know what I mean, Physical
- 55:52Speaker 1: physical education that's out the door, you know. Uh, and
- 55:55Speaker 1: music that you know, we've been fighting for music for
- 55:58Speaker 1: how long now and and and it still can't you know,
- 56:02Speaker 1: the bill still can't get past to keep music in
- 56:04Speaker 1: all schools. It's such a it's so it's draining, especially
- 56:09Speaker 1: for someone who's in the arts. You guys are in
- 56:11Speaker 1: the arts and you're trying to teach the arts to kids.
- 56:14Speaker 1: I can't imagine all of the barriers, you know, Like
- 56:18Speaker 1: I don't know what your school is like, but how
- 56:20Speaker 1: do you get music into the school? Like it? Maybe
- 56:22Speaker 1: if you tell people you know about the problems that
- 56:25Speaker 1: you're dealing with, maybe that'll help people. Maybe that'll make people,
- 56:28Speaker 1: I mean to invest What comes to my mind is
- 56:31Speaker 1: getting people to show up to these these meetings, these
- 56:37Speaker 1: budget meetings where these decisions are made. Um, I know
- 56:42Speaker 1: they're all gone. Those meetings or can get pretty wacky.
- 56:46Speaker 1: But if you have, um, if you have people that
- 56:51Speaker 1: come and can add, if you can rally the people
- 56:54Speaker 1: in the community whose children have been affected positively by this,
- 56:57Speaker 1: and especially not and probably bizarrely not even just like,
- 57:01Speaker 1: oh my god, these amazing teachers made my son an
- 57:04Speaker 1: incredible pianist or or or guitarist or horn player. That
- 57:11Speaker 1: that they've changed him. He's got confidence, he's got he's
- 57:14Speaker 1: got this, he's got that, he has friends who he's
- 57:17Speaker 1: never made before talking about the impact like that. Rant
- 57:20Speaker 1: I went on before and and and having people advocate
- 57:23Speaker 1: for the budget appropriation towards towards it, I assume would
- 57:28Speaker 1: be the best route, right. I mean, unfortunately, we're trying
- 57:31Speaker 1: to fix your life. But you guys know the world
- 57:33Speaker 1: of this better than we do. Yeah, it's just it's
- 57:37Speaker 1: it's so much more than just I go to class
- 57:39Speaker 1: and play an instrument for forty five minutes and then leave.
- 57:42Speaker 1: Like That's how a lot of people see it. Even
- 57:44Speaker 1: the other teachers sometimes see it that way. But um,
- 57:47Speaker 1: but the kids will tell you also that that's not
- 57:49Speaker 1: the case, and it's really hard to convince anyone in
- 57:53Speaker 1: the community sometimes or in communities that it's it's not
- 57:58Speaker 1: just that, it's so much more these things. I decided,
- 58:00Speaker 1: you know, there there there are um. I guess it's
- 58:03Speaker 1: the school board or it's the city council. I don't know.
- 58:05Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I'm naive in this area, but I would.
- 58:08Speaker 1: I would. I would rally if you're facing this in
- 58:11Speaker 1: your town, you're listening to these two amazing music teachers,
- 58:15Speaker 1: it's it would be about rallying people to show up
- 58:17Speaker 1: at those hearings and and and and give testimonials and
- 58:21Speaker 1: and I'm really discuss why it makes such a difference.
- 58:26Speaker 1: The other thing I know this the public school in
- 58:29Speaker 1: my neighborhood does, is they they fundraise to augment the
- 58:32Speaker 1: program um with the parents. Um. Because it just wouldn't
- 58:37Speaker 1: I don't even know if it would exist without without
- 58:40Speaker 1: hardcore getting sponsors, getting um. You know. You know that's
- 58:45Speaker 1: why the the school is outside is covered with like
- 58:49Speaker 1: ads for realtors and and and things, because they've they've
- 58:53Speaker 1: given money to have their giant I'm a realtor in
- 58:56Speaker 1: the neighborhood poster um. You know, anything like that that
- 59:01Speaker 1: that's outside the box, that that raises that helps raise
- 59:04Speaker 1: the money. So the program, Uh well that's the only way,
- 59:07Speaker 1: that's the only way things are getting done is parents
- 59:09Speaker 1: have to get involved. Even though you're going to a
- 59:11Speaker 1: public school, you got to treat it like a private
- 59:13Speaker 1: school and put the money and invest back into the
- 59:15Speaker 1: school in order to get some of these programs going. Yeah,
- 59:18Speaker 1: that's that's the honest to goodness truth. You can have
- 59:22Speaker 1: a government ain't gonna do it. They're trying to stop
- 59:26Speaker 1: public broadcasting. Yo. I'm just saying, man like, I don't
- 59:29Speaker 1: want to get political. I'm gonna shut the fuck up.
- 59:32Speaker 1: But you can have a fundraising um a fundraising concert
- 59:36Speaker 1: where um where you know, maybe you guys play a
- 59:40Speaker 1: little bit, maybe the kids play a little bit. Maybe
- 59:42Speaker 1: some of your adult friends who are like, uh, you know,
- 59:45Speaker 1: a really talented play and and and and then and
- 59:49Speaker 1: then the children, the children play, maybe some particular standouts
- 59:53Speaker 1: have solos and that kind of thing, just to just
- 59:56Speaker 1: to and then maybe even at the fundraiser, the kids
- 59:59Speaker 1: share why the program has meant so much to them.
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: And then you do, like you know, you do let
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: you auction off things like um, a personal piano lesson
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: from one of you guys, or you know, things like that,
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: things that are in the community thing you get people
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: that you get parents to donate things, and I don't know,
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: I know these are these aren't like like revolutionary ideas,
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: but um, it's just tough when you don't have the
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: instruments and stuff like that to put on some of
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: these shows. I know that that's what happens a lot. Also,
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: you know, I bet they could get a local place
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: to to to to donate some amps and some instruments
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: and lucky ye. Yeah, they could say this this event
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: is sponsored by so and so's music rental place or
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: that'd be great. That's actually a great idea, I know,
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: but it doesn't happen that way. Also all the time.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: You know, sometimes kids have to share instruments. Yeah, right,
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: and that sucks. You don't want to share a recorder
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: with somebody. I don't want to share, right, I don't
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: want to share. We have to remember those sticks with
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: the grooves. Do you still love this sticks with the
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: grooves on them? Yeah? I remember that from my childhood.
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: That was the first thing the game was two sticks
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: with the grooves in them. Oh yeah, Like the rhythm, yeah,
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: and I was like, this is fun, this is well,
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: just right, Daniel, what are you gonna say? It's I mean,
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: it's it's a it's a you know. I think playing
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: to the strengths of things like social media can also
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: help you. Like I see so much kind of advocacy
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: happen on things like TikTok right now because people take
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: in so much media and listen to so much stuff
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: via that and sharing the powers of music and music
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: teaching through things like TikTok and just you know, I
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: hate to put it this way, but like going viral
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: with teaching people about music is a way to really
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: show the power of teaching music in public schools and
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: how underfunded it is. So I think if you can,
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: just if you do a fundraiser, put videos of it
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: on TikTok. If you see kids that are, like, you know,
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: espousing the values of music teaching, throw that on TikTok
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: as well, and just create a presence for yourself in
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: a social media that people are taking in all the time.
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: It's it's free, it's on your phone, and I think,
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: you know, that's a way that you can get yourself
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: out there. That's that's smart Dale. And I also think,
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: you know, not to be a dead horse, but to
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: to to really highlight because some parents will be some
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: parents will be like, Okay, great, I'm glad he's having
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: a good time, but he needs to get a job.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: He's not gonna be a guitar player. Um. You need
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: to highlight the ways that these classes are are shaping
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: them and and and and and making them better young
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: men and women, boys and girls, whatever, um, in ways
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: that aren't even related to the instrument. You know, I
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: think that parents who aren't who are like, oh great,
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: I'm glad he likes it, but he's not going to
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: be a trombone player. You know that you're you're you're
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: explaining like, no, you don't understand the value this child
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: is getting out of this class. You know, Yeah, all right,
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: you're welcome, You're welcome. I don't know how well we
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: I mean it. We didn't really help that much they
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: helped up anything, Like I feel, I know, I know
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: what you're going through, and I I don't understand how
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: this is such a U why this not how but
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: why this is such an issue? Music opens up so
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: many doors, so much. Uh, it's mathematical. There's so many
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: things that you can teach through music, and for some reason, uh,
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: people don't think it's it's it's useful, or at least
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: the government doesn't think it's useful as far as educational goes,
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: And that just makes no sense to me. For me,
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: most of most of my education was in theater camp,
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: but that's no different. It was a teacher teaching me
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: and I it's where all my self confidence for public
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: speaking and being in front of people came from. All
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: of it. I didn't learn that in a math class.
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: I didn't learn that in a in any other class.
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: I learned it from from having the the wavos to
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: get on stage in front of people and and have
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: a great teachers push me and encourage me, and and
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: it made me someone who could um perform and speak
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: in front of people, which is an incredible skill to
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: have for whatever you're going to be in your life.
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: You know those aren't That's not a skill set you're
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: going to learn in any other class. Yeah, true, true,
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: lencey preach m chuch. You know what my favorite instrument is,
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: but nobody gives a fuck. But your favorite instrument is zach.
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: Nobody cares, No one gives two jack ass shits. You
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: honor me, you honor me. Um, I really like the
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: oboe Okay, yeah, yes, beautiful. It's beautiful when done well
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: us Yes, I um, I like you here and scores
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: a bunch, and I like music movie scores and a
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: well placed obo is uh is beautiful. Let's go out
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: on that note. How can you beat the sentence a
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: well placed obo? He's so beautiful? Well, I think I
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: think Jenny got you beat what you want to say.
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: I was just wondering. I wondered if either of you
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: play any instruments at all, because I don't. All plays
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: the skin flute open and on that note, Basic seven eight,
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: about show we made about a bunch of doctor nurses,
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: said he's a story never so get around you here,
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: yead around here, Eve,
