- 0:02podcast. Woo woo woo.
- 0:05Let's go. Welcome in everyone too, Bangor
- 0:08Management, The fantasy hockey podcast with Jake, Josh and
- 0:12Kevin. Kevork.
- 0:13As always, today we're going to be doing our Week 18 News and
- 0:17updates episode. We're going to be going over
- 0:19topics such as the trades around the league, namely the JT Miller
- 0:22trade, as well as some other ones, and unfortunately tons of
- 0:25injuries to discuss. Yeah.
- 0:27And as always, if you want to follow us on social media, you
- 0:30could check the linked tree, which is in the podcast
- 0:32description. So let's dive right into it.
- 0:35JT Miller has been traded. Does the value grow up on the
- 0:39Rangers? With the worst playoff schedule,
- 0:41would you sell high right now? And how does Heidi's value
- 0:44change on the Canucks? This is a huge trade.
- 0:48Finally it happened. I feel we've been talking about
- 0:50this for weeks. If.
- 0:51We knew it was going to be the yeah.
- 0:52Yeah, we knew it was going to be the Rangers, but yeah, I think
- 0:55this is pretty great for everyone.
- 0:58I don't think there's many players.
- 1:00There's only one player in my mind that loses out big time and
- 1:04that's whoever gets bumped off New York Power Play 1.
- 1:06And that would either be Crider or no.
- 1:08I think it's Trocheck actually has been has been bumped.
- 1:11Off. So it was Laugh got a chance
- 1:13there. He didn't really work out.
- 1:15Then they put Cryder back on. Then they bumped Trojak.
- 1:18They bumped cried at first. Then they bump.
- 1:20Yeah, check. And then it worked better when
- 1:21they bumped Trocheck. Yeah.
- 1:22So I. Think, I think Trocheck guys
- 1:24lost his spot on that first place.
- 1:25I think out of this whole trade, he's the big loser.
- 1:27Miller, it's a huge win for him. He.
- 1:29Looks so good on the Ranger. He's already what 2 multi point
- 1:32games and it's like 2 games on the.
- 1:33Right off the bat, we can say Jake was wrong.
- 1:35Yeah, exactly. As expected as value went way up
- 1:40after the trade. I will say that Rangers have the
- 1:43worst playoff schedule if your playoffs are week 22 to 24,
- 1:46which is why I wasn't targeting him in a in a Bilo trade.
- 1:49But ignoring the playoff schedule, it's a huge boost to
- 1:52JT Miller owners. And then in terms of Vancouver,
- 1:55I don't think we've seen yet that boost to Peterson that I'm
- 1:58expecting to see. But I mean, there's also the
- 2:00fact that Hughes has been out the past couple games, which
- 2:02coincided with the trade. So we'll see what happens when
- 2:05Hughes is back healthy and the dust has settled from the trade,
- 2:07but I expect Peterson's value to go up.
- 2:09Yeah, I think if you're AJ Miller owner, you're thrilled,
- 2:12especially if you need him to make the playoffs, because I
- 2:15think he's just going to be a stud rest of season.
- 2:18His hits, his shots, his face off wins, his points, they're
- 2:21all going to be excellent. But I do want to raise the point
- 2:26that is this where you trade him high because of that playoff
- 2:30schedule? Like if you're a playoff team,
- 2:31if you're a top three team, you're a top four team, you
- 2:33know, you're you're surely making the playoffs.
- 2:35Do you try to make a lateral move for a guy that has a better
- 2:39playoff schedule? I would 100% this is it doesn't
- 2:42matter how good a player is if he only plays two times in a
- 2:45week, he has a lot less value than a guy at a similar tier who
- 2:48plays three times or four times in that week.
- 2:50This is the point in the year I mean really like I plan for
- 2:54playoff schedule starting from day one, you know, but if you
- 2:57don't think that far in advance, that's OK.
- 2:59And this is the point where if you're comfortable in a playoff
- 3:01spot, you should be planning for playoff schedule and making all
- 3:03sorts of trades to buff up. You know it doesn't matter how
- 3:06good your opponents team is, if you play 10 more games than
- 3:08them, you're going to beat them. So now's the time.
- 3:10I would definitely sell. High Who's the best player you
- 3:12think you can get one for one? I think you can get a lot of
- 3:16like round one draft picks. He Miller was probably around
- 3:19one draft pick in in any league in most bangers leagues at
- 3:22least. And he's showing that he's going
- 3:25to be kind of crazy for at least you know of his short stint with
- 3:29Rangers right now. And I think it's going to last.
- 3:31So you get a top tier guy. You can't get, you can't get me
- 3:34David, you can't get McKinnon, you can't get dressed at all.
- 3:36I think those guys are all going before hurt rent and just got
- 3:41traded. You can get ranted and easily
- 3:43though. Would you rather have Rantanen?
- 3:45No, I'd rather have Miller. I'd rather have Miller only
- 3:48because rather than one schedule, Brandon like the
- 3:51schedule is not better enough to warrant the trade.
- 3:54So I would keep Miller just because Brandon also doesn't
- 3:56have a great post schedule. Pass it for sure.
- 3:58Yeah, I'll take that have been absolutely ridiculous.
- 4:01I don't think people are gonna treat.
- 4:02Him. He has two games in the
- 4:04semifinals. I'm pretty.
- 4:04Sure. Yeah, he's a 424, but they have
- 4:07really good matchups. So if you could, if you think
- 4:10you have a lot of four-game guys for that semi and you can make
- 4:13up for the two game week, then either way it's better than the
- 4:16332 that Miller is. So I'll take that.
- 4:20Yeah, you can't get no Austin Matthews.
- 4:24Yeah. When I was there, but he has two
- 4:25games in the 24 so not really getting better there but you.
- 4:28Are getting better. One more game in the two weeks
- 4:30prior. Yeah.
- 4:32So kill Makar, I think Makar would be.
- 4:34That's probably a smart. Move.
- 4:35Yeah, I would do that. That feels like the worst I'd go
- 4:38though at this point. Yeah, I mean, also, like, you
- 4:42don't have to do one for one. You can do like a get a package
- 4:45of two guys with good playoff schedules who are like, you
- 4:47know, slightly worse. But essentially, yeah, I would
- 4:49definitely be looking at improving the playoff schedule.
- 4:51Anyone on the ring. I don't want anyone on the
- 4:53Rangers on my team if my playoffs are Week 22 to 24, let
- 4:56alone my most. Important What's gonna happen?
- 4:58Whoever has the Rangers on their playoff team is gonna just be
- 5:01blessed while with them somehow getting like 3 points each.
- 5:04Yeah. Like those two games, they're
- 5:06gonna average like 3 points over two games.
- 5:08Like it's always possible but I like stacking the deck in my
- 5:11favor so more games is more. Chance do we think that's a
- 5:14Banjo stays as a winger on line one with Miller and Panarin?
- 5:19I mean they been doing so well I don't see why they would change.
- 5:21It I I told you two games, right?
- 5:22I mean, like, who knows? Because The thing is, if that's
- 5:25the case, then it doesn't really manage that are gonna play line
- 5:29two or three because that what happens there is that whoever
- 5:32gets line 3 is kind of screwed. But the only difference is just
- 5:35not getting face off wins, which mostly don't have face off wins.
- 5:38And we already assumed that it was going to be that line.
- 5:41We just thought it would be managed in the middle and J on
- 5:43the right. And the increasing points he's
- 5:45gonna get from having Miller on his line.
- 5:46It's more than make up for. Must be so much better.
- 5:49Yeah it sucks cause the 1st place guy in our league has
- 5:51advantage. Ads So the only thing is that I
- 5:53think that the Rangers now have a chance to have like the best
- 5:56centre depth in the league and Brodzinski doesn't really cut
- 6:00it. Johnny Broadway.
- 6:02If they could put some bandage out there instead, then I think
- 6:04that. Why would you want a bandage on
- 6:06their bottom like in their bottom?
- 6:07Still, with Crowder and Cooley, there's nothing wrong with that.
- 6:10It's an amazing line. It really balances it out and I
- 6:12think. He just wishes because he has.
- 6:13No, I don't even care. It's just at the end of the day,
- 6:16it's like something that I would think that whoever those two
- 6:19line 3 probably is, their value would go down.
- 6:23Yeah. So this is good for Miller, but
- 6:25it's a situational thing if. You mean this is like the
- 6:27Rangers are fighting for a playoff spot?
- 6:29They're gonna do whatever wins them games.
- 6:30So whatever configuration it is when they start winning games,
- 6:34which I think they've been doing pretty well lately, so they're
- 6:36going to stick with that until things start going wrong.
- 6:38So I don't see any reason for them to change things up until
- 6:40they start losing. Yeah, that's fair.
- 6:43That's fair. It's gonna be it's gonna be an
- 6:45interesting ride to the rest of the season.
- 6:47So let's move on to the next one.
- 6:48We got Frost and Ferrabee to Calgary and Kuzmenko to.
- 6:52Philly and Pelletier. Yeah, Kuzmenko and Pelletier to
- 6:55Philly. What do we think about this?
- 6:57It's a fun trade I think in terms of actual hockey, not
- 7:00fantasy. I like this for Calgary more
- 7:02than Philly. Calgary's all in and did you see
- 7:04that? He said.
- 7:04They're not trading any of their other win now pieces.
- 7:07They were not trading card, we're not trading and they're
- 7:09not trading weaker. This doesn't like, what I like
- 7:11about this move for Calgary is this isn't like an all these
- 7:14aren't rentals, you know, These are young players who haven't
- 7:16been reaching their potential under a Tortorella team, you
- 7:18know, and now you're giving them the chance like more feed him
- 7:21more ice time. People love therapy like the
- 7:23actual NHL. I mean, last year he had our
- 7:25streak where he was like on fire.
- 7:26Remember Jake, you picked him up and he was just crazy.
- 7:28He was like point over point per game for like a solid month.
- 7:30So and Frost has been really good also and like times like
- 7:33the last couple of years. So both of them have the
- 7:34potential. I think they're given the chance
- 7:36to shine. There's a lot of gaps in that
- 7:38lineup where guys could come in and make a big difference.
- 7:41So I like it a lot for Calgary. I immediately would have both
- 7:44these guys on my watch list. I wouldn't necessarily jump to
- 7:46pick them up immediately and. Spent $4.00 on.
- 7:49Figured it was fine but yeah I will say that the Athletic had a
- 7:53player pulled like an NHL player poll and it was what coach would
- 7:56you least like to play for? Tortorella was a 38.5 and then
- 8:00in second was Bruce Cassidy at 12 point.
- 8:02Three. That doesn't surprise.
- 8:03Me so the fact that like not only is it a fantasy relevant
- 8:06thing, it's a real life thing. I mean he he gets his teams to
- 8:10win like they do win. It's just there's no consistency
- 8:13in real life for the players individually and for fantasy it.
- 8:16Translates. I think he's like, he's really
- 8:18good at, like you said, like making the team do well, but he
- 8:21does not care about any individual player doing well,
- 8:24you know, Like he'll, he'll, he'll scratch your starting guy,
- 8:27you know, yeah, that's it. Like sometimes you need to like
- 8:29let your stars be stars, you know?
- 8:31But he'll like, we've seen him scratch his like top point guy,
- 8:33you know, and multiple seasons in a row there was like, it was
- 8:36either last year, two years ago, Kevin Hayes was leading the team
- 8:38in points scratched. This year, Mitch Gov scratch,
- 8:40you know, like he's not afraid to do that.
- 8:42And sometimes it is the right move.
- 8:44But for fantasy, it sucks. So any team, any guy leaving a
- 8:46Tortorella team immediately jumps up in value.
- 8:48Like now, Now we're talking about Kuzmenko going the other
- 8:51way. This is like the worst guy
- 8:52starter relay. Yeah, it's amazing and.
- 8:55Help make lineups on non Tortorella teams.
- 8:58Like was he over under on games until he gets scratched?
- 9:02He's one. Yeah. 1 1/2.
- 9:04He's having visa issues right now, so it's like -1 and this
- 9:07one. Game he's looking to backtrack
- 9:09on a shift in Torias gonna like say like trade him.
- 9:13These issues is like the most ice time he's gonna get.
- 9:15I can't understand this move for the.
- 9:16Floor, I think maybe they want some chemistry with Michkov,
- 9:19like I don't know if that's a long term, you know, potential,
- 9:22but as long as. It was a good prospect so I
- 9:27think Flames fans were much more upset to lose penalty than they
- 9:30were to. Lose.
- 9:30But The thing is, Kuzmenko was almost waved.
- 9:33Waved and no one claimed him. Kuzmenko, I'm pretty sure.
- 9:36I think Peltier was waived and nobody claimed him and I think
- 9:40it was Michael was is very possible like both of these
- 9:44guys, you know? This is a big thing for Calgary
- 9:47and I don't really see the direction Philly's going with,
- 9:49but I guess we'll see. But.
- 9:51They got rid of these guys because they didn't want to have
- 9:53to pay them what they were gonna have to pay them.
- 9:55Yeah. So they would rather like keep
- 9:57that money and use it elsewhere as opposed to like paying Frost
- 9:59as a $4 million for to be there like two or three C.
- 10:03Yeah. Yeah, it's interesting because,
- 10:06well, Peltier was a first round pick, but so was Farabee, and so
- 10:11was. Frost.
- 10:12So I think that this is gonna do pretty well for you in deep
- 10:16leagues if you have Frost or Farabee.
- 10:17I don't like the guys going to Philly for fantasy purposes.
- 10:20Yep. So we'll see.
- 10:22Grandland 2, Dallas playing line 2, Power play 2 with Marchment
- 10:27and Duchene. Oh my God, Josh.
- 10:33The douche. Douche man.
- 10:39I like to leave little Easter eggs in the in the show doc for
- 10:42Jackie to stumble into alive. You gotta read it.
- 10:45Though unfortunately, oh God, I had to pivot.
- 10:48Yeah. Marchment and the douche man.
- 10:50That is exactly so it shall be written.
- 10:53So it shall be done. OK Yeah.
- 10:54So I think that this is really good for Dallas for real life
- 10:57purposes. Incredible.
- 10:58And I. Think it sucks for grand do?
- 11:01You think so? Yeah.
- 11:02The only good thing about it for grand orders is that Dallas has
- 11:05a great playoff schedule. But he's gonna be, you know, in
- 11:09San Jose, like he was the guy, you know, like, obviously like
- 11:12celebrity coming in is like the new guy.
- 11:13But like Grantland was playing with him on power play 1.
- 11:15You know, like Grantland was line one over Solimini.
- 11:18Like he was really like the guy. I mean, yeah, air quotes line 1
- 11:21and it was like, whatever, same ice time.
- 11:22But but yeah, I know Brandon was the guy in San Jose.
- 11:25And you see this a lot when like guys are having great seasons on
- 11:28a kind of garbage team and then they get traded like around the
- 11:31deadline to like a contending team.
- 11:32And then they get like dropped into the, you know, middle 6.
- 11:35And then they just lose a lot of their value.
- 11:37So I don't like this as a grand as a grandmother.
- 11:40I be trying to sell high if you can.
- 11:41Yeah, I agree, especially because Dallas is like a bigger
- 11:44name. So you can say that OHT, now
- 11:46he's on a better team that scores more.
- 11:47So yeah, he's good. He'll be a part of that.
- 11:49But no, it's very common that a formerly good or above average
- 11:54player gets, you know, shuffled into the mid 6, as you said, and
- 11:56then it just doesn't, it doesn't go well.
- 11:58That's actually why I'm not as high on JT Miller as both of you
- 12:01in this two game sample size. It's looking pretty bad for my
- 12:04perspective, but for the general idea, like I don't usually like
- 12:07when players get traded mid-season because there's a lot
- 12:09that goes into it, like yeah, for them to really get
- 12:12acclimatized. Whereas if you get traded in the
- 12:14offseason, you have like a month plus to training game chemistry
- 12:17with. The team, yeah, but it's a
- 12:18little different when it's like a star like Miller getting
- 12:20traded because then he's like getting traded to go immediately
- 12:22line one, power play one, whereas like it's more of a
- 12:25yeah, exactly. But I will say sorry before like
- 12:28one more thing I will say it is not necessarily the end of the
- 12:31world to be Middlesex on Dallas because we've said this like a
- 12:34ton throughout the year. Dallas is a team that they
- 12:36really play their top three lines very evenly and they're
- 12:39both power play units are pretty split pretty evenly.
- 12:41So if there's a team to get lost in the mix, Dallas is a better
- 12:45one. So I think it's a dip for him,
- 12:46but not the end of the world. I was going to say that we saw
- 12:48right away, which is really unfortunate for Johnson owners.
- 12:51He got bumped down all the way to line 3C, which is just wild
- 12:54with how much success he's been having before.
- 12:56Like why? Why even mess with that?
- 12:58And I think this helps Duchene a lot the most because he got
- 13:00bumped up to the douche bag. I thought the P1, which is great
- 13:05for his value and his linemates already on 5/5 just got
- 13:09significantly better. Yeah.
- 13:10And he's been he's been like low Kia stud for fantasy for a long
- 13:13time this year. So I think for him, his value
- 13:16kind of like the baseline of it goes up for the rest of the
- 13:19season and he's the guy that be targeting to try to trade 4
- 13:22given the playoff schedule. You just kinda gotta be careful
- 13:25not to overpay because his game log is pretty nuts.
- 13:27Yeah, this is such a good team. Yeah, such an amazing team.
- 13:31OK, we have Shane Pinto day-to-day with an upper body
- 13:34injury. Norris is out week to week and
- 13:37Giroud is taking the spot on power.
- 13:38Play one with Ridley. Ridley, Greg playing line 2.
- 13:42Centre I also thought it was. Great.
- 13:44I think it's Greg. I'm gonna say Greek.
- 13:47We could. We could try.
- 13:48This Ridley, Greg, either gonna Ridley Scott.
- 13:50Sorry, great. Scott.
- 13:52Scott. Yeah, I, I just remember when he
- 13:56was in the World Juniors, they said, Ridley, Greg, that's how I
- 13:59made. But maybe they were all
- 14:00mispronouncing. It yeah, that's it so great,
- 14:02right and. They're yeah.
- 14:03Exactly. The main thing the main take
- 14:05away from this I think is I mean Pinto wasn't on most fantasy
- 14:08rosters beforehand, nor is week to week is a huge blow for them
- 14:12in the top 6. I think he was, you know a guy
- 14:14that was potential line 1 for them.
- 14:16But Giroud gets the most value out of this.
- 14:17Bumping up to P1 is huge for his value because without the P1 on
- 14:21Ottawa it's like you know your value can only get so high and
- 14:24green getting some line 2 ice time and power play two time
- 14:27it's nice but he's like a very deep deep league play.
- 14:31I would not roster him besides that.
- 14:33Yeah, agreed. It's Ottawa.
- 14:36Really interesting cause they have one of the best playoff
- 14:37schedules also. So I've been trying to target a
- 14:39lot of Ottawa guys, specifically Norris.
- 14:40So now I'm kind of happy that, yeah, I didn't get him, but but
- 14:43yeah, no, this is huge. For Norris is squishy, we've
- 14:46said. This before so there's a lot of
- 14:47times. So it seems like a lot of that
- 14:49team is squishy. So yeah, no, it's definitely
- 14:52just pretty much impacts you. We'll pick up here.
- 14:56Yeah, don't forget to mention Tage Thompson.
- 14:57I think we skipped over that point, Ricky.
- 14:59Yep. Yeah, Tage Thompson day-to-day
- 15:02with an upper body injury. Alex Tuck is taking his spot on
- 15:05power play one. As we record this tough.
- 15:07Got three points against me last night.
- 15:09Yeah, devastated. He did the same thing when I
- 15:11played him like weeks ago. He got after like 0 points for
- 15:15like 2 weeks, got gets a hat trick and then doesn't play me
- 15:18gets another zero points for two weeks.
- 15:19And then plays me and gets 3. Points.
- 15:22Modern day Adam Lowry and Mark Stone.
- 15:24Yeah. Done that to me in the past 2.
- 15:27Years unfortunate. Yeah.
- 15:29So, yeah, obviously this is huge for talk.
- 15:32This is terrible for the rest of the Sabres because Thompson is
- 15:35the best player, but. We're still guys.
- 15:37I think it's I saw the hit. It looked pretty bad.
- 15:40But I mean, I think he played a bit more like, yeah, he's not
- 15:44gonna be out for long, so I wouldn't take too much talking
- 15:46to this. But if you and Alex Tuck, he's
- 15:47gonna get a nice little bump for a couple days, so that's fun.
- 15:49Yeah, you think they're going to sell players, you were saying?
- 15:52Yep, I think cousins for. Gone.
- 15:55Like the question is very good. He's definitely gone.
- 15:57They just like he's not playing his day-to-day because he's
- 16:00banged up, so. Air quotes yeah, yeah, I will
- 16:03say that kind of how we said that anyone who leaves it
- 16:06Tordella team immediately gets a lot of value.
- 16:09We've seen in the past years anyone who leaves Buffalo
- 16:11immediately wins a Stanley Cup and becomes an All Star.
- 16:13So keep an eye out because whoever gets traded out of
- 16:16Buffalo, I think they got a big. Guy, he's gonna go, he's gonna
- 16:19be a 2. See on the team.
- 16:20It just depends on which team. Yeah.
- 16:22So I'm looking forward to that. The Cousins owner, I just hope
- 16:25the team with a good playoff schedule, Well, not a terrible
- 16:27playoff schedule. Yeah.
- 16:28The teams are bad, playoff schedules aren't in first centre
- 16:31anyways I don't think. That's fair.
- 16:32Yeah, I'm just thinking where he would go, but yeah.
- 16:35Cousins like Nashville, it's Carolina.
- 16:38Montreal. That would be fun.
- 16:40That would be. Fun.
- 16:40What's the team that recently made a move to get rid of some
- 16:44cap? I don't know, imagine Vancouver.
- 16:46That could be fun. Colorado.
- 16:47Colorado. You have a bunch of getting
- 16:50around in there, definitely making another big move.
- 16:52So yeah, they. Are be that it could be.
- 16:54Treated with Buffalo last year. They needed they needed that for
- 16:57Byron. They need to see cause middle
- 16:58that's not working out Yeah they.
- 17:00Don't give us another one. They got Parson in out of the
- 17:03trade for. Nashville.
- 17:07The the person and he's like line 4 see.
- 17:09Right now, yeah. Casey, Middlesex.
- 17:11Huh. OK.
- 17:14Bottom four, Yeah. Bottom four Line 4.
- 17:16Sorry. Next we've got Logan Cooley is
- 17:21out indefinitely. Huge blow.
- 17:22Dylan Gunther's back. Dylan bumped off power play 1.
- 17:26Hayden has coolly spot there for now.
- 17:29They see me rolling. They played their Gunther.
- 17:33That's not it and I'm sorry. Been line 1 as of Cooley being
- 17:38out. There not power play one.
- 17:39Not power play one, but line 1. So he's actually been like
- 17:42decently really deeply that also counts faceoffs.
- 17:45But this is just bad for most players because.
- 17:48Well, I feel like the Cooley out guenther back kind of just
- 17:51cancels out. Yeah, actually gets better than
- 17:53Cooley. So it's like this is a slight
- 17:54win, but obviously role, yeah. So that's definitely a blow.
- 17:59While it's like, you know, the Aladdin, you know, you're
- 18:02smiling, but you're not smiling. But yeah, I know.
- 18:07So this is, it's interesting. I knew Don was going to get
- 18:10bumped off play one. I called that a few weeks ago.
- 18:12But it's interesting that Hayden kept the spot there.
- 18:14We started off, yeah. He started off the season really
- 18:16good, really well. And he went on like kind of like
- 18:19a hot streak like a week or two ago.
- 18:21So he's an interesting pickup in a league that has a face.
- 18:24He wins a lot of faceoffs and he takes a decent amount of shots,
- 18:27so. I'm kind of worried for Utah
- 18:28now. I feel like they're just getting
- 18:29so banged up. But yeah, it's just going to
- 18:32fall apart soon. Do you see they have like a some
- 18:34final names for? Yeah.
- 18:36And then like one of them just got eliminated.
- 18:38Yeah, right away. And there was some.
- 18:42Yeah. And what is like, What is it?
- 18:44And then like Utah, people had to explain it's like a super
- 18:47niche thing in Utah, but they're like, but I had to look that up
- 18:49too. Yeah.
- 18:51And then they replaced it with. You would have been sick, but
- 18:54did you see what they're gonna do about that because they
- 18:56couldn't get the trademark for? Yeti Yeti coolers.
- 18:58So yeah, which is dumb, but they said that they're gonna just
- 19:02like call it something else and still like Loki use a Yeti as
- 19:05their logo, just like not call it the Yeti.
- 19:08So it's just like, yeah, the Yeti is part of our marketing,
- 19:11but we're not saying it's daddy or whatever, so.
- 19:14They could just call themselves the Bigfoot, yeah.
- 19:17These next two points suck, but let's start Marner day-to-day
- 19:21with a lower body injury. Morgan Riley taking his spot on
- 19:24power play one, which is a funny thing.
- 19:25There's, you know, defenseman replacing Riley is awful.
- 19:28He said, yeah, he's not ideal. This sucks.
- 19:31This is like a true data day though.
- 19:33I know Jake is a Mitch Marner owner, so he's.
- 19:35Doing blooming. But yeah, no, he's gonna be
- 19:37back. At the very least he'll be back
- 19:39after the break. And there's only like one or two
- 19:41more games between now and the break.
- 19:42So it's not, it's not the end of the world.
- 19:44It does suck. I think that's why we're seeing
- 19:46so many injuries happen right now.
- 19:47It's kind of like ohhhhh. I don't wanna play in the Four
- 19:49Nations. I'm injured.
- 19:51It's like, well I think people want to play in the Four
- 19:53Nations. I guess it depends on the
- 19:55player, but one or two games before the Four Nations starts.
- 19:57So people are just like if your little hurt like might as well
- 20:00just take. The extra 100%.
- 20:02So that's what we're seeing. That's really annoying.
- 20:04Though illnesses going around everywhere.
- 20:06Yeah, so that too, all the NHL players need to stop, like
- 20:08making out with each other and getting.
- 20:11I hope that's pretty serious. The whole team's going to cloud.
- 20:15Marshawn, like looking at you. Yeah, Werenski is out to
- 20:21day-to-day, Marchenko out six to eight weeks.
- 20:24That's a huge blow for. Columbia.
- 20:25Awful. Yeah, Pro Provorov took Werenski
- 20:28spawn on power play one. Cylinder took Marchenko spot on
- 20:31line one, power play one. And yeah, this makes everybody
- 20:36on the team worse. I think those two guys that we
- 20:38took that we look at as replacements instantly get
- 20:41fantasy value. However, like they can
- 20:43definitely be relevant. You just got to take a look like
- 20:45Provera. I put them in the same rank as
- 20:47like, you know, the total D'angelo's, Yeah, whoever you're
- 20:49kind of picking up as. That I mean warranties really
- 20:51day-to-day it's more like the Marchenko replacement exactly,
- 20:53but also like. Slender looks good though he's
- 20:55had stretches where he's, yeah, high shot volume guy through the
- 20:58season as well. So him getting better deployment
- 21:00and more minutes on the ice I can.
- 21:01See, I will say though, that like we, you know, Columbus is
- 21:03like line one power play one has been unreal this year, right.
- 21:06But you know that like the ship of Theseus or something where
- 21:10like they replace one piece at a time and then at one point does
- 21:12it become like a different ship? Yeah.
- 21:14You know, it's kind of like that with Columbus's first line.
- 21:16You know you're still you replace like Marchenko cylinder.
- 21:20You know your place, you place. China Gov with born covets Like
- 21:22at what point? Chris Monaghan with.
- 21:23Pencils like yeah, exactly. So at what point is it like, you
- 21:26know, is it actually that good to be on that line or is it just
- 21:28a complete, is it just the second line that got bumped up
- 21:30to line one because all the first line guys are out, you
- 21:32know what I mean? So I think it just depends.
- 21:33Those guys also played the most minutes.
- 21:35So maybe for sure production, right and.
- 21:37I do think that all that first line is worth rostering right
- 21:40now, but I do think they are significantly worse than they
- 21:43were before. You know who this is good for?
- 21:45Boone Jenner. Yeah, that's true.
- 21:48People ahead of him in the line of just keep getting knocked
- 21:50out. He's walking around breaking
- 21:52ankle breaking kneecaps. You're not taking my spot.
- 21:57German offer you can't refuse. I actually just watched The
- 21:59Godfather this week for the first time.
- 22:01Really. Yeah.
- 22:01I had to rewatch. Before even I watched it.
- 22:04And yeah, it was. It was awesome.
- 22:06Just the first one I got. Yeah, just we're gonna watch the
- 22:08next one, like probably this weekend.
- 22:09But yeah, so good. Like them, you know, for those
- 22:15who are not watching because none of you are watching, but
- 22:17Josh is doing a little mafia mafia face.
- 22:21Ask me about my business. You know, you know Modern
- 22:25Family. If you're, you know what it
- 22:27does? Episodes.
- 22:28Yeah, yeah. So back to hockey.
- 22:35We got Quinn Hughes out day-to-day heroic, taking his
- 22:39spot on power play one. I'm playing against Chronic this
- 22:41week. This guy's been useless for
- 22:42months. One week where he's signing out
- 22:46two assists last night. Anyone who's you know with
- 22:48Hughes out, he's the guy who benefits.
- 22:50So you know, he's definitely the pick up until he comes back.
- 22:52Hopefully he uses back soon. He's gonna be back after the
- 22:55Four Nations face off. He might not play in the
- 22:56tournament. They.
- 22:57Said that's crazy. Because he's obviously for team.
- 22:59USA huge blow the whole week, but so frustrating.
- 23:02Yeah, this is like when people held on to Harley for the entire
- 23:05season. Another like benefiting and it's
- 23:07like you're wrong. Decision worked out, but it
- 23:09doesn't mean it was a good decision.
- 23:10Yeah. I think Ronnie is definitely
- 23:12valuable as long as users own, yeah.
- 23:14Yeah, it's the Hughes is probably one of those guys
- 23:18who's, if not the guy who's most important to his team in the
- 23:21recent like we saw with Darlene when like he was out.
- 23:23But there's no one more than when he was like this year
- 23:26especially like what's the heart is for most valuable to your
- 23:30team? I think it's crazy if Hughes
- 23:31doesn't win it really. I don't think first of all,
- 23:34having unreal season. But it's not about book.
- 23:37It's not about who's most important to their team.
- 23:39Sorry. It's not about who's doing the
- 23:40best. It's about who's most important
- 23:41to their team. And I don't think anyone is
- 23:43important to them as help is definitely in.
- 23:44The think you just need to be like, you have to be like a top
- 23:48five to 10 team as well to like be in the console, yeah.
- 23:51If they make the playoffs, he's probably gonna be in.
- 23:54Concert, they were expected to make the playoffs before it was
- 23:56just like, I know everybody ahead of him is yeah, I wanna
- 24:01say what you have to bleep out, but yeah.
- 24:03It is crazy how I saw a stat that I think 80% of all their
- 24:07goals he's involved. In which is nice.
- 24:09That's just insane. That's more.
- 24:10Than their team Hughes or Warenski?
- 24:14Well, I. I think, I think Hughes, I think
- 24:17we're monkey's unreal and I think he's the most important.
- 24:20Well, The thing is there's also Marchenko who's been really
- 24:22good, you know, So I say that's like the two pillars for
- 24:23Columbus. Whereas with Vancouver, you
- 24:26know, the guys who other than Hughes who are supposed to be
- 24:28really good, like Miller or Peterson have been pretty
- 24:31garbage. So it's really been just used.
- 24:33Still think they're going to give it to like McKinnon or a
- 24:35drive is in the name but you're. Right.
- 24:37It won't be. It won't be an Edmonton guy this
- 24:38year. I don't think no, no, I think
- 24:40McKinnon has a chance, but I don't think he's gonna want to.
- 24:43Either getting it. Interesting.
- 24:45I really think it should be used, but I agree that I don't
- 24:47think it will be. But I think I think Hellebuyck
- 24:50has a strong. Yeah, I think he realized.
- 24:53He deserves it with how he's been playing.
- 24:55Yeah, if it's just if you wanna give it to a goalie.
- 24:57Yep, Miro Heiskanen out for the season.
- 25:00Pick up Harley yesterday. If only they were possible.
- 25:05If you're listening to this, you can't pick them up yesterday.
- 25:07Why did you write that, Josh? No, I didn't see the trade offer
- 25:10you just got. Now, do you want to see it?
- 25:12Yes, I. Do I can't see?
- 25:14I'm blind? What is it?
- 25:15From who? Never mind we don't get into.
- 25:17That Jewelers and egg 4 backland.
- 25:20Hmm, that's job. That is a tantalizing offer.
- 25:23I would definitely strongly consider that one.
- 25:26Yeah, that's bad. That's really bad.
- 25:31That's that's an easy rejection. Yeah, yeah, I know Thomas Harley
- 25:35is it's kind of like exactly the way you just put it, right?
- 25:38I mean, it wasn't paying off. He was high roster percentage.
- 25:41We didn't know why. And now it makes like now
- 25:44obviously. Great power play quarterback
- 25:46like he's actually really good at it so.
- 25:48When he's buried behind he's and he shouldn't be owned because he
- 25:50doesn't put up enough cats to or points to really be like held.
- 25:54Do you think you can trade them for anything?
- 25:56I think so. Because he's going to like
- 25:58they're saying he might come back for like the last week of
- 26:01the playoffs, well, the the last week before the playoffs or
- 26:04whatnot. So he might, partly might carry
- 26:06you all the way to the championship in fantasy and then
- 26:09not be there for you. So there's a chance, but it's
- 26:12just free value right now if you're able to pick him up or if
- 26:14you were stashing them for some reason.
- 26:16That's if you were holding on to all.
- 26:17Season your advice, Don't advise that.
- 26:19But it worked out. Yeah, I wonder who you can
- 26:21actually get back value wise for Harley but.
- 26:24I think you have to wait like a week or something like for it to
- 26:26kick in. You know him to put up some
- 26:28points and stuff. And at that point, you probably
- 26:30have a clearer timeline for asking as well.
- 26:31Yeah, yeah. How was recovery is going or
- 26:33whatever? Yeah, he should definitely be
- 26:35rostered and you can even trade for him now at the same time
- 26:39like before things. Pick up whoever has him is.
- 26:41We're not treating them. Yeah, if they held on to him
- 26:43this long, then they're gonna, they're not gonna trade.
- 26:45Him yeah, Matt Barzal yeah, that's that's bad.
- 26:50Barzel probably out for the season.
- 26:51Do Clear has taken his spot on line one, power play one.
- 26:55The others have been on a crazy. Role.
- 26:57It makes no sense to. Me, they've won so many games
- 27:00recently which out of nowhere and we kind of expected them to
- 27:03be a competitive team. The fact that they were looking
- 27:05bottom five team this whole year, they were not a bottom
- 27:08five team. They're not supposed to be a
- 27:09bottom five team. But it didn't surprise me that
- 27:12they were. I felt for years that they were
- 27:13overperforming. And when they finally you.
- 27:16Know crash players and a great goalie they.
- 27:19Do they have a great goalie all? The great player Barzel is a
- 27:21great player. And.
- 27:24Dobson Solid Dobson. Road Wilson is.
- 27:27Decent. Nelson's good.
- 27:28He might get traded. Yeah.
- 27:30I mean, actually Mr. and I'm. No, I don't understand it at
- 27:33all. Like I've always thought they
- 27:35were bad, but they, I mean with Trots as their head coach, like
- 27:38yeah, he was amazing to lead them to success in the playoffs,
- 27:41but I'm just like. We're not gonna make the.
- 27:44Playoffs. But The thing is that's crazy is
- 27:46they were bad to start the year, then they lost all their best
- 27:48players and now they're going crazy.
- 27:50It doesn't make sense. I, I like Tony DeAngelo there.
- 27:54I do, yeah. I.
- 27:55Realize yeah, that was a good pick up.
- 27:56I like that. One yeah, I I think that he's
- 27:58just always. As long as I'm not P1, sorry.
- 28:01As long as he's on that P. One.
- 28:03Yeah, because he always succeeds until he does something stupid.
- 28:06Office. Which I mean last year he was in
- 28:08the league and he was pretty bad to be honest.
- 28:10Yeah last year he was averaging .3 points per game with 1.4
- 28:14shots and no hits or blocks. Like you can't roster.
- 28:17That no, no, for sure. But historically he's been
- 28:20pretty good, and I think he did. A classic like like that, that
- 28:24archetype of player. Was gonna hit your PowerPoint.
- 28:27Yeah, pretty much. Yeah, yeah, and yeah.
- 28:30Patrick Kane is healthy and retook his spot on power play
- 28:33one, but he is line 3. Do you guys see that he beat the
- 28:36record for most shootout goals? NHL last night, both of them
- 28:42made. Yeah, that's pretty wild.
- 28:45Yeah, I, I, I think that the Red Wings are, are really kind of
- 28:49coming into their. Own Yeah, like came out of
- 28:51nowhere. We were suggesting to sell their
- 28:53players high for awhile because I still, yeah, I still think
- 28:56they're overperforming, but I do think that.
- 28:59Just wouldn't be as adamant as trying to get them off my roster
- 29:02because. I would because of that playoff
- 29:04schedule. It's a very bad playoff
- 29:06schedule. So I mean, you're getting yeah,
- 29:09why do all of my guys have bad but.
- 29:12It's Kevin traded you all his bad playoff schedule.
- 29:14I think I no. I know.
- 29:15Just kidding. OK, Yeah.
- 29:17Yeah. Anyways, Patrick Kane's really
- 29:19nice if you're in a deeper lease specifically his shot volume is
- 29:22there and he's as long as his PP one, he'll get you some points
- 29:24as well. Do.
- 29:24You think they make the playoffs?
- 29:26No. I think they couldn't have been,
- 29:28really. Good.
- 29:28I mean, it's very close right now.
- 29:30I don't think those. Huh.
- 29:32Yeah, the Atlantic is nuts. It's extremely close, except for
- 29:35Buffalo. But honestly, like, I don't know
- 29:37if this is a crazy take, but I could see New Jersey in the
- 29:40playoffs. That would be wild.
- 29:42I don't even. Really, really bad lately and
- 29:45by. Lately for awhile.
- 29:46I don't know. I think it's, I don't think it's
- 29:48that out of the question. That would be nuts.
- 29:50The team behind them is Columbus, and there's seven
- 29:53points behind. OK, you know what I would pre
- 29:56where NC Marchenko injury. I think I think they could.
- 30:00Make the playoffs over New Jersey.
- 30:01They are right. If Columbus's injuries, I think
- 30:03they don't have a shot anymore, so that's fair.
- 30:06OK, let's move on to the wood, the Rangers.
- 30:11The Rangers could make. It I think the Rangers could.
- 30:12Passengers there are three games behind.
- 30:15They would be if they won all three games they have in hand.
- 30:17They'd be 6 points behind New Jersey with 30 ish games left in
- 30:21the Definitely happened that could happen.
- 30:24Something to monitor, sorry. Yeah, the two wild cars look
- 30:29like they're gonna come from the Atlantic, though, so it's true.
- 30:31It's really the Metropolitan you need to be 12/3.
- 30:34Anyway, we'll see. Alright, Kevin, start us off
- 30:36with The Wood Brothers. Alright, would you rather?
- 30:39I thought this week my goal was to involve players that were
- 30:43recently in trades. Or you always have a theme.
- 30:47I try. I try as the master.
- 30:49Thank you, Josh. I really appreciate that.
- 30:52But yeah, I tried to include some traded players.
- 30:54So that would be nice for, I think good information for a lot
- 30:57of people that are, you know, on these guys are curious about
- 30:59them. So my first one is a
- 31:01blockbuster. We talked about it earlier in
- 31:03the episode. First thing off the list, we
- 31:05were naming some players who would rather have JT Miller or
- 31:09Brady Kuchuk. That's actually I was going to
- 31:11say like we just talked about this and this name didn't come
- 31:13up, but it should. Have I wanted to?
- 31:15I didn't want to say. I deliberately avoided it.
- 31:18Because I didn't really like giving authentic immediate
- 31:24response. And my my media response is
- 31:26Brady Kuchuk. Really.
- 31:27Yeah, I'm making. The playoff weeks.
- 31:29Right. Yeah, Well, OK, big thing is the
- 31:30playoff schedule. Ottawa has possibly the best
- 31:32playoff schedule and Rangers have the worst playoff schedule,
- 31:35so that's a big one. But let's take the playoff
- 31:36schedule out of it for a second. Miller's gonna get you more
- 31:38points, there's no doubt about that.
- 31:40But. Like a lot, probably.
- 31:41By a lot. Yeah, it's going to be a big
- 31:43difference. But if you're playing in a
- 31:44league with Pimm's shots and hits like could, Chuck is just
- 31:48unreal. He's putting up in the last
- 31:50month almost 3 Pimms, 4 shots, three hits.
- 31:53This is just insane like that just like that's disgusting.
- 31:56It doesn't make any sense like he's a human Wrecking Ball.
- 31:58So and I expect his points to go up a lot.
- 32:00I think like right now he's a great buy low.
- 32:02I think we had mentioned him a few weeks ago as.
- 32:03It's hard to buy local is peripheral, but.
- 32:05Always so elite at the other stuff.
- 32:06That one is even when his points aren't there, everyone's happy
- 32:08to have him on their roster. But but yeah, no.
- 32:11So I'm going with Chuck over Miller.
- 32:12Sam, Sam. I think you can get that trade
- 32:15done though. I think.
- 32:16That's great for Brady. I think Brady's points have not
- 32:19caught up enough that JT's recent trade hype, plus how good
- 32:23he's been after the trade. I think if you're playoffs are
- 32:25week 22 to 24 and you have Miller, you'd be doing yourself
- 32:28a disservice not making this one for one offer.
- 32:30Yep, I wouldn't even. I would even add in another
- 32:32piece to be honest if. I don't think you have to.
- 32:35Though you probably don't have to, but there's probably some
- 32:37managers out there that are aware of the playoff schedules,
- 32:39right? I don't want for that reason.
- 32:41If this gets you over to hum. Yeah, if you're in a league with
- 32:45faceoffs especially, then you absolutely don't need to offer
- 32:48more, I would say, because JT's so elite at that.
- 32:52But anyway, this is a really fun one.
- 32:54You're going Brady, too, Kevin. Yeah, pretty.
- 32:57Alright. Alright, next one.
- 33:00Another recent acquisition by the Colorado Avalanche, Marty
- 33:04Natures or Travis Konecny. OK.
- 33:07Now I think playoff weeks also play a big factor here because
- 33:11Philly also plays two games in the Week 24 championship,
- 33:15whereas Colorado plays four games.
- 33:16So that's already a pretty big discrepancy.
- 33:18But we're seeing nature kind of get accustomed to this Colorado
- 33:21top line and power play and the, I mean, the Flyers are the
- 33:26Flyers. Obviously at first glance it
- 33:28seems like an easy connect me like, but is it easy?
- 33:33It should be in theory, but I, I actually think I'm gonna go with
- 33:36natures because I really like him rest of season.
- 33:38The playoff schedule does make a difference.
- 33:40And I, I mean, I think point wise between now and the rest of
- 33:45the season, regardless of the playoff schedule, nature is
- 33:48going to outpace connect me. So over the last two weeks as a
- 33:51recording, connection has been pretty not good and Nature is
- 33:56just finding his groove on Colorado.
- 33:58So I don't think it's crazy rest of the season for Nature to get
- 34:00more, you know, points overall, more power play, points, more
- 34:03shots and connecting is not really a hitter anymore, so.
- 34:07Yeah, I actually agree completely what Jackie said like
- 34:10you would think looking at this, you know, looking at this and
- 34:13start a season is a no brainer connect me like I wouldn't even
- 34:15like, you know, consider them the same tier.
- 34:17But right now I think I really like the trade for niches as
- 34:20well getting to play with McKinnon and I think that it's
- 34:23only going to get better with intrusion coming back.
- 34:25We had spoken about this earlier, Kevin, but, and I don't
- 34:27know if you don't necessarily feel the same way as me as I do,
- 34:30but I think the. Feel the same about strongly.
- 34:31OK, but I think the cooking coming back is a major, major
- 34:35bonus for the Abs and it's gonna just make the entire, you know,
- 34:38top six and 1st power play like a lot better.
- 34:40I've seen a lot of analytics about it and just the ABS with
- 34:44nutrition in the lineup versus the Abs without him in the
- 34:46lineup is night and day. So if nature is already doing
- 34:49well, then I think the gonna get worse.
- 34:52Exactly. I think it's going to get
- 34:53better. And I think he's definitely get
- 34:55more points than connecting the rest of the season.
- 34:57I think that's why you traded. You can maybe do if you know
- 35:01you're looking at, I mean, if you just open up their ranks and
- 35:04if you're looking at season ranks, Total Connect is going to
- 35:06be super high rated in your league most likely.
- 35:08He has been a little bit of a dry slump these last few weeks,
- 35:12but I mean, that's just a good opportunity to maybe get rid of
- 35:14him. But yeah, I think I think nature
- 35:17is for me as well. But Connect is not one of those
- 35:19guys. I feel like he has like a good
- 35:22reputation for fantasy, but still underrated.
- 35:24Does that make sense? I agree.
- 35:25Like people just kind of forget about.
- 35:26Him I fully agree, but I think it's tough.
- 35:29Just being on the Flyers doesn't do you any favors for how people
- 35:32rate you. It does not, but he's like by
- 35:35far their best fantasy assets. So all right, we're all aligned
- 35:39once again. Yep.
- 35:40Alright, next one, Mikael Granlund's newly acquired Dallas
- 35:44star or Alex Tuck, my nemesis. Ah, hmm, I don't know.
- 35:51This is tough too. These are good.
- 35:54There's a good. One, because Tuck obviously is
- 35:56benefiting right now from being on P1 with Tage Thompson out,
- 35:59but with the Dylan Cousins trade on the horizon and the People
- 36:03one obviously has guys that shouldn't be there also.
- 36:05So you kind of wouldn't be surprised if Tuck ends up there,
- 36:08especially with how he's having success right now.
- 36:11I think that I might lean towards Grantland on this one,
- 36:15actually. The one thing that I love about
- 36:18Tuck is that he blocks like almost like a.
- 36:20Defence, he's one of the best forwarding, blocking.
- 36:22Exactly, so that I think is a really rare archetype.
- 36:25I also think that usually he's good for him.
- 36:26He hasn't been doing it that much lately so but the Pimms and
- 36:29blocks combo is really nice. I do think that when Thompson
- 36:33comes back, I don't really see him cracking power play 1.
- 36:36And I think like Buffalo isn't a deep enough team to be happy
- 36:40about being on power play 2 or not on the top line.
- 36:43Whereas with Grand spoken about this earlier, you know, even
- 36:45though he's lying too powerfully to unless they split the time
- 36:48pretty evenly. And his linemates I think are
- 36:50gonna be a lot better than Tux. So I think I'm going with the
- 36:53Grand. Are think I'm gonna do talk
- 36:56actually because of the blocks and stuff in a categories like
- 36:59it's really cool. This is so close though.
- 37:01I just don't really trust grandland shots so as like kind
- 37:05of a base value. I don't love it and I mean he is
- 37:07new to this team and like we were saying, if you're.
- 37:10Also going to PT2, it's not like he's getting.
- 37:13One. And he's like not gonna get that
- 37:15eternity like JT Miller's getting.
- 37:16He's going to be in the mid 6. What it is in Power Play 2?
- 37:19So Dallas is mid 6 is not a terrible place to be.
- 37:21No for sure. Anyway, I can't fault you for
- 37:23saying Island, but. I think there's less chance that
- 37:25Grandma gets P1 than Talk gets P1 because he has to beat out
- 37:31like Jack. Quinn I just I don't think
- 37:33either of them getting P1. I think and I think that I
- 37:36wouldn't be able to talk out. There, I don't think he will.
- 37:39It's not crazy to think and I do think he's more likely than
- 37:41grand, but I don't see either. I'm getting it, and I think
- 37:43powerfully too. On Dallas is like way better
- 37:45than perfect on Buffalo. Absolutely, it's true.
- 37:46It's such a good power play, actually.
- 37:48Yeah, category. Coverage, though, he's getting
- 37:51you a lot of shots and. Blogs really like the category
- 37:54coverage from a tuck. Point per game without any power
- 37:56play points over the last. Two weeks.
- 37:58That's crazy. I mean, he did.
- 37:59Is that like 1-3 point game against you?
- 38:01And that's because Thompson was out and so crying inside.
- 38:03Yeah, who are you picking, Kevin?
- 38:05I'm going. Alex stuck.
- 38:06OK, alright. Josh were outnumbered.
- 38:11All right, goalie time. This is my boy, the best goalie
- 38:15in the league. Ilya Sorokin or Stuart Skinner.
- 38:20I'm gonna go Sorokin. I just think Skinner kind of
- 38:23sucks. Like quite astute observation.
- 38:28He's just not very good, obviously.
- 38:30Like the comparison here is like bad goalie good team versus good
- 38:33goalie bad. Team and Sorokin has been the
- 38:35best goalie for like the last three weeks in fantasy.
- 38:40But I mean, I don't expect them to win every game like they've
- 38:43been doing right, like they have been beating some good teams.
- 38:46But I mean the honors are are still the Islanders.
- 38:49I think no doubt I'd bet on Stuart Skinner getting more wins
- 38:52the rest of the season, but due to percentages make up for it.
- 38:55Like, we know broken is a beast, right?
- 38:57We know that he's one of the best goalies.
- 38:58He's just on a team that doesn't score many goals.
- 39:02So yeah, where where do you draw the line?
- 39:03That's kind of the question. Yeah, like I think that
- 39:06Sorokin's floor is a lot safer because he's just so much
- 39:08better. Like that's what it is.
- 39:09I mean, at the very least. You're we know he has no chance
- 39:11of losing his job either, right? Where we have seen that where, I
- 39:14mean, I'd be surprised as stewards Kenner lost the job.
- 39:16But like, it's definitely in the realm of possibilities.
- 39:19They have to bring in someone new.
- 39:20He's not losing it to Calvin Pickard or Picard or whatever,
- 39:23but like. He's gonna lose it to anybody if
- 39:26he plays really bad, like if he plays like he was last year,
- 39:28yeah, Yeah. But we haven't seen, like, that
- 39:31level of play this year. So yeah.
- 39:32I feel confident things are working on this one.
- 39:34Yeah, I would say stroking too. I mean, I think we have to, you
- 39:38know, keep out the recency bias. But at the end of the day, even
- 39:41if you go on full, if you look at the full season, Skinner's
- 39:44just not that great. You know, I think you could have
- 39:46done like you could have done a higher tier of goalie versus
- 39:49broken and made it like more of a, you know, a difficult
- 39:52conversation. Yeah, cause we've been talking
- 39:54about how bad the owners have been.
- 39:55I still don't believe in the Islanders.
- 39:56I just think that despite I think Skinner.
- 39:59'S gonna get more. I know, but I think Skinner gets
- 40:02more wins than Sorokin rest of season.
- 40:03I don't think that's a that's too hot of a take, but I think
- 40:06smokin' rate stats and he gets more saves and he'll probably
- 40:08get more starts. So I think, I think Sorokin for
- 40:11those reasons. Yeah, you also have to take into
- 40:14account what your team archetype is like.
- 40:16On my team I have Sorokin and Kemper and they both fit really
- 40:19good together because they're on good defensive teams.
- 40:22So they're saves, goals against average and percentage is really
- 40:26high. So they pair well together even
- 40:27if I'm not getting the win. So you have to take that into
- 40:30account. Alright, last one.
- 40:32Obviously gonna take Sorokin over like any.
- 40:35Yeah. No, I think the guys that I take
- 40:37for sure over Sorokin is like, you know, Hellebuyck, obviously,
- 40:40Vasilevski, Ottinger, Igor, probably.
- 40:43Yeah, those are the four. Really.
- 40:46Yeah. Yeah, I get that.
- 40:47I think the Rangers are gonna win a lot the rest of the
- 40:49season. Yeah, alright, one last one.
- 40:53Defensive picks time. Sorry, I stumbled on my thoughts
- 40:58there. But he lagged again.
- 41:00Josh's boy, Evan Bouchard, or the category God most cider.
- 41:06OK, so in a points league, I'm gonna go with pop.
- 41:11Out answer. But I think it's it's actually
- 41:15nice because it's a no brainer. But but cider has been good.
- 41:19No, it's no brainer for points, I'm sorry.
- 41:23For categories I would go cider. I think, I think even in points
- 41:26leagues is still a conversation that's.
- 41:27Why? I just like nine shots the other
- 41:30day from Bouchard, Like that's crazy.
- 41:31And those shots are getting valued in points leagues.
- 41:34Over the last month, Bush has a .86 points siders at .6 siders
- 41:39getting more power play points, which is not only for sure for.
- 41:43Sure. And averaging 4.
- 41:44Three shots over the past he's getting, yeah.
- 41:46Averaging two more shots a game. I don't think Bush averages over
- 41:50four shots for us this season. Having like a 3.5.
- 41:53Like over 3 for sure, but Snyder will stay where he's at.
- 41:56Like 2.22 point, 3:00-ish, but three hits, two blocks.
- 42:00Like that's the best category defenseman in the.
- 42:03League, yeah, for sure. No, I like for for a standard
- 42:06categories league or deeper 1, whatever it is like I'm going
- 42:10slider. I have to take Cider here, I
- 42:11think just because the categories are two elite and
- 42:15it's not like he's getting zeros in power plays or points as
- 42:18well. I think that the the baseline
- 42:20that he has there is still super high that the difference there
- 42:23in the point doesn't make up for how elite he's getting your hits
- 42:26and blocks every week. I think that the difference in
- 42:30points is gonna be bigger than what you're seeing.
- 42:33Right, Give me a .3 and I think that's going to be what it is.
- 42:36It's like a .3 right now. I think it's gonna be bigger
- 42:38than that. So .25 right now.
- 42:40Yeah, so I think it's gonna be more than .3.
- 42:42I mean, you love to say this. Look, his point average includes
- 42:45power play points. Average.
- 42:46I know it's super. High it's almost all power play
- 42:48points and that's not sustainable.
- 42:50So I think that the points difference is gonna be bigger
- 42:52than you guys are giving credit for and the shots difference is
- 42:56gonna be. I think about two shots
- 42:57difference. I think this is or maybe like
- 42:581.5. But Cider is a monster for
- 43:01categories. I don't think this three and two
- 43:03is abnormal for him. I think that's completely like
- 43:05in line for how he is. And I think this year is a huge
- 43:08stepping stone for Sider because in the past they keep bringing
- 43:10in random guys to play power play one over him.
- 43:12Even this year they brought in Gustafson and people were like,
- 43:14why are you doing? They have a perfectly good, you
- 43:16know, franchise player right here waiting to take power play
- 43:18one. Yeah.
- 43:19And finally they changed coaches and he realized why don't we put
- 43:22our best defence on power play 1.
- 43:23And so I think it's a huge, huge boon for Cider.
- 43:26I think he's gonna be one of the top banger cat guys for for
- 43:29years to come. It really depends if it if
- 43:32ciders, if it wasn't for the shot difference, I'd say Cider.
- 43:35No, no brainer because I take those hits and blocks over the
- 43:38difference in points in power play points that I think are
- 43:40going to be the shots makes it a bit more difficult because now
- 43:43you're looking at, you know, points, PowerPoints, shots.
- 43:45That's like 3 different categories versus hits and
- 43:47blocks which is 2 categories. So I think I might lean
- 43:51Bouchard. Also he has one more game in the
- 43:53finals versus Cider so that's like something to note.
- 43:55But I can't blame anyone for taking Cider.
- 43:57He's ciders are more unique archetype for sure.
- 43:59Does have one more game in the finals.
- 44:00Yeah, blue shirts are 333 and I think siders. 332
- 44:04all-encompassing three-week final.
- 44:05Yeah. Yeah, I'm gonna go cider, but I
- 44:09yeah, that's tough. These are these are good, Kevin.
- 44:12I almost like I could tell. Yeah, no, no, because really,
- 44:15like I've been looking at how she's been doing and it's
- 44:18incredible to see. So yeah, who are you picking
- 44:20Slider? Alright, Wow, Kevin and I were
- 44:24all on the same one for all of. These and that just to show that
- 44:27these are usually tough. I think usually Josh and I are
- 44:29pretty aligned. Yeah.
- 44:30No, I've they're Scott Wedgewood in there.
- 44:33Maybe be a different story. Yeah.
