- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on, uh huh, I sure will. Good morning everybody,
- 0:07Speaker 1: you all listening to the voice, come on, dig me now,
- 0:11Speaker 1: One and only Steve Harvey got a radio show. Man,
- 0:13Speaker 1: old Man, oh Man symbolizes just one thing to me. Man,
- 0:18Speaker 1: It's just a constant remind of exactly how good God
- 0:21Speaker 1: has been to me over the years. And I'm thank
- 0:23Speaker 1: him for it too, because I realize every day that
- 0:26Speaker 1: I wake up that I would be nothing without him.
- 0:29Speaker 1: That everything I am, that's any good in me, I
- 0:33Speaker 1: owe to him. Now. Have I made some mistakes along
- 0:35Speaker 1: the way? Yep, bunches, bunches and bunches. And will I
- 0:41Speaker 1: continue to make mistakes along the way? Yep? Not as many,
- 0:46Speaker 1: hopefully as I have in the past, because a lot
- 0:50Speaker 1: of stuff I know better now. But you're still going
- 0:54Speaker 1: to make mistakes now, you know. Hopefully I've limited the
- 0:59Speaker 1: amount of intentional errors in my life. I've wiped quite
- 1:04Speaker 1: a few of those out, but from time to time,
- 1:06Speaker 1: because we're human, we're going to make a mistake every
- 1:10Speaker 1: now and then. The trick, what it is, y'all, is
- 1:13Speaker 1: not to let the devil deceive you into thinking that
- 1:15Speaker 1: once you make that mistake that that's it. You can't
- 1:18Speaker 1: do it. And you falling off the wagon, you can't
- 1:22Speaker 1: reboard it. That's the biggest trick that he uses. He
- 1:25Speaker 1: makes you think that if you keep stumbling, that you
- 1:31Speaker 1: can't run the race. It kind of reminds me of
- 1:36Speaker 1: a marathon runner. From time to time, I watch them
- 1:39Speaker 1: on TV, and you'll see some people who finish the race,
- 1:45Speaker 1: you know, in a nice pace. You see people finish
- 1:49Speaker 1: the race sprinting towards the finished line. But every now
- 1:53Speaker 1: and then you'll watch a marathon and you'll see a
- 1:57Speaker 1: runner and the runner is in really, really bad shape.
- 2:03Speaker 1: The key is they finish the race. See, you don't
- 2:09Speaker 1: get disqualified in the marathon because you stumble, You don't.
- 2:15Speaker 1: They don't. They don't take your opportunity to finish the
- 2:19Speaker 1: race because you keep falling. That's not the key. The
- 2:25Speaker 1: key is finishing. And a lot of times what the
- 2:28Speaker 1: devil does is he makes you think that because you
- 2:31Speaker 1: keep stumbling, because you're swaying from side to side, that
- 2:36Speaker 1: you know you out the race. Well, that's not the case.
- 2:40Speaker 1: And see and then this thing called life, let me
- 2:42Speaker 1: help you understand something. Everybody falls, Nobody sprints to the
- 2:46Speaker 1: tape in this one, nobody just runs free and clear.
- 2:50Speaker 1: That as some people running faster than you and all
- 2:53Speaker 1: like this, and some people gonna get to the end
- 2:55Speaker 1: before you let them go ahead. And when the end come,
- 2:58Speaker 1: the end come. I ain't in a rush. You get
- 3:00Speaker 1: to the end. But in this race, though, when you're
- 3:03Speaker 1: stumbling and you're falling, it's a part of it. No
- 3:07Speaker 1: one gets through this race without stumbling and falling, swaying
- 3:10Speaker 1: from side to side. So don't let the enemy to
- 3:15Speaker 1: see you in the thinking that it's over. I try
- 3:19Speaker 1: to be encouraging to people because I don't want people
- 3:23Speaker 1: to get stuck on this thing, you know. And my
- 3:26Speaker 1: walk is very different from a lot of people's walks.
- 3:28Speaker 1: And then I know a lot of people who walking
- 3:30Speaker 1: in faith the way I'm walking in faith. But my
- 3:33Speaker 1: thing in the morning is just to remind those that
- 3:36Speaker 1: is not a perfect walk man, that it's not something
- 3:40Speaker 1: that's set up where you're gonna be skipping through life
- 3:44Speaker 1: scott free without any pitfalls. You know. I keep saying
- 3:47Speaker 1: it over and over and over again, because, like I said,
- 3:50Speaker 1: when I was in DC, my boy Hondo said this
- 3:54Speaker 1: to me, and it just kind of stuck with me
- 3:56Speaker 1: that the road to construct the road to successes. Always
- 4:00Speaker 1: the construction. You have to figure and count on the
- 4:04Speaker 1: setbacks and the pitfalls. But it's those people that that
- 4:08Speaker 1: that that are that fight through will be the victors
- 4:12Speaker 1: in the end. You cannot give up, man, Stop going
- 4:15Speaker 1: somewhere and sitting down every time something goes down. It's
- 4:20Speaker 1: going to go down. It's a part of it. It's
- 4:24Speaker 1: going to happen. It's going to occur that are going
- 4:27Speaker 1: to be setbacks. If you go and sit down every
- 4:30Speaker 1: time there's a setback, that's not how this works. It
- 4:35Speaker 1: is designed that way. If success were easy, everybody would
- 4:40Speaker 1: be successful. But success is just reserved for those who
- 4:45Speaker 1: are willing to fight through, who refuse to settle for mediocrity,
- 4:50Speaker 1: who wants something more. Now, don't get me wrong. Success
- 4:54Speaker 1: is defined by each individual. So what I may consider
- 4:59Speaker 1: to be successful, you may not consider that. You know
- 5:02Speaker 1: what Bill Gates considered successful. I might not consider what
- 5:07Speaker 1: Michael Jordan considered successful. I might not consider what you
- 5:11Speaker 1: consider successful. Your boss might not consider. You have to
- 5:14Speaker 1: define what that is for yourself. It may not be
- 5:18Speaker 1: monetary at all. You know, your level of success could
- 5:22Speaker 1: be tied up in community service. It could be tied
- 5:25Speaker 1: up in family, It could be tied up in the church.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Your level of success could be tied up into boys clubs,
- 5:32Speaker 1: It could be any number of things. Whatever your level
- 5:35Speaker 1: of success is, you have to determine what that is
- 5:39Speaker 1: you and the best way to determine that is to
- 5:42Speaker 1: get in touch with your maker, who created you, to
- 5:46Speaker 1: find out what your mission and your purpose is so
- 5:50Speaker 1: he can put you on track. I just had this
- 5:53Speaker 1: conversation with my son and we were talking about getting
- 5:57Speaker 1: on the path that God has set up for you.
- 6:01Speaker 1: So many times we find ourselves fighting through life because
- 6:05Speaker 1: of so much uncertainty, because we have no idea where
- 6:09Speaker 1: we're headed. It's like one of my sayings that I
- 6:15Speaker 1: have at my mentoring camp for boys is is that
- 6:19Speaker 1: a boy without a male role model is like an
- 6:23Speaker 1: explorer without a map. See if you don't have a
- 6:28Speaker 1: map laid out in front of you of where you're
- 6:32Speaker 1: going when you wake up every day. That pretty much
- 6:37Speaker 1: explains the feeling of confusion, the lasadaisical attitude, the lack
- 6:44Speaker 1: of purpose, to not understanding your mission because you don't
- 6:50Speaker 1: have not gotten in touch with your creator to find
- 6:54Speaker 1: out exactly what your path in life is what are
- 6:58Speaker 1: you supposed to be doing? The more the moment you
- 7:00Speaker 1: can identify that is the moment that you get started
- 7:04Speaker 1: waking up with purpose, with the sense of direction. When
- 7:08Speaker 1: you kill the sense of I don't know what's next
- 7:11Speaker 1: or what to do. Now, there's going to be some
- 7:13Speaker 1: confusing moments no matter what happened, it's going to be
- 7:16Speaker 1: some uncertainty. But at least you'll know where you're going.
- 7:19Speaker 1: So if you're tied, awaking up, feeling loss, abandon, confuse,
- 7:24Speaker 1: don't know what to do, don't know what you're supposed
- 7:27Speaker 1: to be doing, refer back to your maker because when
- 7:33Speaker 1: he created you, he had a plan for you. When
- 7:36Speaker 1: he created you, he had a path for you. Now
- 7:40Speaker 1: we've made some decisions to get off of both of those,
- 7:43Speaker 1: the mission and the path. But God can get you
- 7:46Speaker 1: right back on track. Do that today, Ask him what
- 7:50Speaker 1: you're supposed to be doing and listen. God has all
- 7:55Speaker 1: the answers if you form the relationship okaying as the
