- 0:43Search for Elon Musk podcast. So Elon Musk is currently
- 0:47defined a Brazilian Supreme Court order aimed at censoring
- 0:51certain user content under the guise of combating fake news.
- 0:55This legal conflicts shows that there's a huge issue regarding
- 0:59freedom of expression and freedom of speech and the role
- 1:02of social media in Brazil. Now, the Brazilian judiciary has
- 1:07demanded that X block content from Brazilian users, which the
- 1:10court labels as false information are fake news.
- 1:13And Musk's refusal to comply with these demands has led to
- 1:17significant legal scrutiny, positioning him against Brazil's
- 1:21federal judiciary. Now, the inquiry, known as
- 1:25Digital Militia Investigation, does not concern the common
- 1:29issues of controlling Big Tech's influence, safeguarding
- 1:32democracy, or child protection online.
- 1:34Instead, it focuses on a political clash involving the
- 1:38Supreme Court and critics of Brazil's president.
- 1:42This indicates A politicized judicial system as of right now.
- 1:48Now, critics argue that the Supreme Court's actions
- 1:51represent a departure from democratic norms, suggesting
- 1:54that the Brazilian judiciary no longer operates independently.
- 1:59The scenario portrays A grim situation for democracy in
- 2:03Brazil, which they claim is deteriorating publicly.
- 2:07The controversy stems from the court's attempts to silence
- 2:09commentators with opposing political views, though,
- 2:12especially those who command significant influence through
- 2:15social media platforms. Musk and many Brazilians regard
- 2:18these actions as undemocratic and indicative.
- 2:21Of a tyrannical. Approach to governance now
- 2:24Historically, though, Brazil has championed civil liberties, with
- 2:28the constitution upholding freedom of speech.
- 2:30This principle has been foundational since Brazil's
- 2:32return to democracy all the way back in 1985, making the current
- 2:37judicial actions against free speech particularly jarring.
- 2:41Now, the situation escalated following scandals involving the
- 2:44Workers Party and former President Lula, who was
- 2:47imprisoned in 2017 due to corruption charges.
- 2:51These events tarnished the party's image and LED to a shift
- 2:54in political power with the election of Bolsonaro in 2018.
- 2:59Now. Bolsonaro, a former.
- 3:01Army captain, known for his straightforward style, was
- 3:04elected on promises to uphold privacy, private property
- 3:08rights, restore order and freedom of speech, and
- 3:11challenging prevailing social and political norms.
- 3:13In Brazil, the support largely came from that was disillusioned
- 3:17with the previous regime's corruption of policies, and
- 3:20despite his controversial manner and rhetoric, Bolsonaro's
- 3:23administration made significant strides in fiscal management,
- 3:26deregulation, and improving the business environment through
- 3:29digital initiatives. Now, by 2021, though,
- 3:32Bolsonaro's potential re election seemed threatening
- 3:34enough to his opponents that efforts were intensified to
- 3:38rehabilitate Lula's political image.
- 3:40The Supreme Court annulled Lula's conviction, enabling him
- 3:44to participate in the 2022 presidential race.
- 3:47This judicial intervention sparked widespread dissent,
- 3:50particularly online, where Brazilians express their
- 3:53disapproval now. The Electoral Tribunal responded
- 3:56by increasingly censored online speech and targeting digital
- 3:59platforms to comply with their directives.
- 4:02The punitive measure is extended to financial sanctions and also
- 4:06social ostracism, with some critics facing severe
- 4:09repercussions like imprisonment and exile, often without due
- 4:13process for merely questioning the legitimacy of Luda's
- 4:17election victory. Now, despite the absence of
- 4:20legislation supporting the judiciary stance on fake news,
- 4:23the court persists in its demands for social media
- 4:26platforms to block alleged misinformation, a stance that
- 4:29Musk has publicly challenged. Now on April 6th, Musk
- 4:33highlighted the opaque nature of these judicial orders on X,
- 4:37emphasizing the lack of transparency about the reasons
- 4:40behind the blocking orders and the identity of the missing
- 4:43authority. He also noted the legal threats
- 4:46posed by non compliance, including potential fines.
- 4:50Now, Musk's resistance took a more active form when he
- 4:53recently unblocked several users and threatened to disclose his
- 4:56communications with a Brazilian court, arguing that the public
- 4:59deserves transparency about these judicial interactions.
- 5:03There's another thing going on at X.
- 5:05We'll touch on that real quick. It's significant for its
- 5:08operations. The platform's brand safety
- 5:11score, as rated by Double Verify, was mistakenly low due
- 5:15to a display error, affecting advertiser confidence and
- 5:19investment in the company. Now they have to keep the lights
- 5:22on in order to keep this fight going with Brazil now.
- 5:26The misinformation about X's brand safety persisted for
- 5:29several months though, influencing advertising
- 5:32decisions detrimentally. The correction of this error in
- 5:35Musk's ongoing public fight against censorship in Brazil
- 5:39shows that X is in a tough spot right now.
- 5:42They're not making a lot of money, they're doing OK, but
- 5:47this brand awareness from double verify the brand safety score
- 5:52could hurt them and it was months in the making.
- 5:54So I'm expecting a lawsuit from Elon Musk and X in the.
- 5:59Future for this Let's talk about some SpaceX news here.
- 6:05The FAA and SpaceX are working. Very hard together to make sure
- 6:10that the next. Flight of Starship.
- 6:12Happens without a hitch now. Starship IFT 3 the integrated
- 6:18flight test that just. Happened a little while ago, was
- 6:22pretty much a success, right? So now they're moving forward
- 6:24with the IFT 4 launch, and hopefully everything goes well
- 6:29with that launch. Now the FAA has to work with
- 6:32SpaceX in order to give them a flight license.
- 6:35They have to make sure that everything's safe for SpaceX,
- 6:38the rocket, the workers and also people in the way of the Rockets
- 6:43flight. That's important.
- 6:45They don't want to hurt anybody, any property or anything going
- 6:49forward. With these flights.
- 6:50Now it's important because SpaceX launches the Starship
- 6:55over the Gulf of Mexico and apparently, according to the I
- 7:00FT3 flight. Path.
- 7:02It was going to land in the Indian Ocean.
- 7:04The Starship was. The booster is going to land in
- 7:06the Gulf of Mexico. OK, so the Starship might land
- 7:09in the Indian Ocean. Again, we're not 100% sure
- 7:12what's going on with this. We are guessing everyone's
- 7:15guesstimating that it will happen similarly.
- 7:19But there is some FAA hinting at what may happen for this next
- 7:24one. So before anything happens, FAA
- 7:29and SpaceX will be working together to make sure to safe
- 7:33the whole operation. They have to make sure that
- 7:36SpaceX uses the time between this flight, the last flight,
- 7:40IFT 3 and IFT 4 to safe the area and make sure that they put
- 7:45anything in place that they found was wrong in the last
- 7:50flight. So anything in the booster or
- 7:51anything in the ship, they have to fix it.
- 7:53They have to change it in order to make it a safer flight.
- 7:56For the future. Now there's a possible flight in
- 7:59May. But it's not guaranteed.
- 8:01Right now, the FAA needs to modify the launch license due to
- 8:05changes potential changes in the flight profile.
- 8:08We don't know exactly where this is going to land, but it might
- 8:10land similarly close to where it was going to land in the Indian
- 8:13Ocean, depending on the mission. Now, the FAA will prioritize the
- 8:18public safety over anything else.
- 8:21And public safety is paramount, for one thing.
- 8:24Mainly, but mostly there, there's two things.
- 8:28One mainly is the booster in the Gulf of Mexico, because that's
- 8:32going to try to do a soft landing on a virtual tower,
- 8:37according to Elon on flight. 4. And I made a video about flight
- 8:414 in flight 5 of Starship. So flight 4 they want to do a
- 8:45virtual tower in the Gulf of Mexico.
- 8:49This means that they're going to do the normal flight like
- 8:53normal, like IFT 3, fly the ship to the Indian Ocean, get the
- 8:58booster, hot stage separation, all of that stuff.
- 9:01But after the hot stage separation, they're going to
- 9:03send the booster into the Gulf of Mexico, land it vertically.
- 9:07In the Gulf. Similar to what they would do
- 9:11with a launch tower. Land it.
- 9:13They're going to make a virtual tower.
- 9:15Maybe they're going to use some sort of a?
- 9:17R. VR set up so they know exactly
- 9:19what's going to happen. I don't know.
- 9:21What they're going to do at that point?
- 9:24But hopefully they have a really good understanding of the
- 9:27landing mechanics of the booster because they haven't even gotten
- 9:30it close to landing now. IFT 1, IFT 2, IFT 3.
- 9:34We haven't even seen the booster get close to landing in the Gulf
- 9:37of Mexico. So IFT 4 if they can nail this.
- 9:40Elon has said in his latest talk that he wants to land the
- 9:45booster at Starbase, and I don't know if this is a great.
- 9:50Idea I'm. I don't know, I'm so scared of
- 9:54this. I don't want them to move back
- 9:55six months because. They landed a.
- 9:58Booster and it wasn't prepared to land yet.
- 10:01I'm just I'm terrified that they could blow something up or
- 10:04something could happen. They haven't got a Rudd at
- 10:06Starbase and they could set themselves back six months.
- 10:09Now, I know this is a thing that they have thought about.
- 10:12They're rocket scientists after all.
- 10:14They're engineers. They're scientists.
- 10:16They do this for a living. They make a bunch of money doing
- 10:18this. And I'm not that guy.
- 10:20I am a coder, I know how difficult code is, but landing a
- 10:25rocket, not 100% an expert at that.
- 10:28And that's why I default to the engineers and the scientists at
- 10:34SpaceX. And I trust them that they'll do
- 10:35the right thing. But I'm also scared that they're
- 10:38going to set themselves back. I just don't want them to do
- 10:40that. But the landing attempt in the
- 10:42Gulf of Mexico, let me know what you think about it in the
- 10:45comments below. I think it's scary.
- 10:47That's all I'm going to say. It's got to be a wild ride.
- 10:49It's got to be excitement guaranteed, as Elon says.
- 10:51But we do have some information from an FAA spokesperson, Jim
- 10:55Coleman said that I think we could possibly get there, which
- 10:59means a launch in May. I'm not going to say we will get
- 11:02there, absolutely, but I won't say it's out of the question
- 11:05either. On the possibility of a May
- 11:08launch. He said that the other day,
- 11:09three days ago. He also said they're going to do
- 11:12some different things with this particular missions, referring
- 11:14to changes in the flight profile.
- 11:17So IFT 3, they did normal flight profile booster back to the Gulf
- 11:22of Mexico and it did a Rudd and today it exploded over the Gulf
- 11:26of Mexico, which is fine. They expected something like
- 11:28that and they did hot stage firing was great.
- 11:31They did the Starlink door, they opened up the Starlink door,
- 11:35which was fantastic. And they did some communications
- 11:39with the ground we've heard about.
- 11:40They did some live video feeds, which we didn't expect them to
- 11:43do, but it was fantastic as well.
- 11:45And then they try to land the Starship in the Indian Ocean.
- 11:49Now I have T. 4, they're going to, as Elon said as well,
- 11:53they're going to try to get the Starship to the height,
- 11:55basically a melting point of the Starship as it reenters the
- 11:58atmosphere into the Indian Ocean and then it's going to there.
- 12:02I think they're going to explode Indian in the Indian Ocean.
- 12:06So we're expecting that. Now, there's other things.
- 12:09The virtual tower landing, not exactly sure what that is, but
- 12:13Elon has said it. They might do a public safety
- 12:16review. The FAA might do a public safety
- 12:18review with a full mishap investigation or from the full
- 12:23mishap investigation that SpaceX does just to speed up the
- 12:26process. But I think that's what's going
- 12:28to happen from here on out. Elon and SpaceX and company will
- 12:32do a full mishap investigation form the previous launch and
- 12:35then the FAA will look at it and do a public safety review
- 12:39depending on that mishap information and investigation
- 12:42information that they send over. They're both willing and able to
- 12:46do this. Fast.
- 12:48FAA said they are willing to go fast by may they want to in the
- 12:53separation of the public safety review.
- 12:55Hence it a potential difference between public safety flaws and
- 12:59broader mishap investigation details.
- 13:02Now SpaceX is going to have to do some things though before
- 13:05they launch this rocket. Pre launch checks FAA likely
- 13:09conducts conducts a thorough review of the launch vehicle and
- 13:14launch procedures to ensure that they meet safety standards as
- 13:17normal. They should do this.
- 13:19It can involve inspections, simulations, and analysis of new
- 13:23potential risks for IFT 4 and IFT 5 going forward.
- 13:27The flight path. If it's changed the trajectory,
- 13:29FAA might assess the flight path a trajectory to ensure a minimal
- 13:34risk to populated areas and also debris.
- 13:37What could happen? Debris and blast radius.
- 13:40So if they read somewhere in the Gulf of Mexico, what's that
- 13:43blast radius look like? What's the debris going to look
- 13:46like and where's the good debris going to end up since the ocean
- 13:49is so huge, The debris from it's a big rocket to us, but to the
- 13:54ocean it's nothing. Don't think Elon and company and
- 13:58the FEA are going to worry about A1 rocket booster or one rocket
- 14:02in the Gulf of Mexico or the Indian Ocean.
- 14:05Now another thing that the FEA works on.
- 14:07Is the launch abort system. The Rudd system, basically the
- 14:11FTS, basically this thing blows up a rocket if something goes
- 14:14wrong, and Elon and company have shown that it works.
- 14:17After the IFT one mishap where it didn't work and the thing
- 14:21spun out of control. Now they know what they're
- 14:24doing. FT-2, IFT 3, both worked great.
- 14:27The they're working forward, They're working with SpaceX on
- 14:31the CFA and SpaceX, they're working on this critical safety
- 14:34flaws. Elon and company are working on
- 14:36those. The FAA might want to confirm
- 14:38there aren't any critical safety flaws for the next rocket flight
- 14:41profile. Like I said before, overall
- 14:44public safety is a paramount for the FAA and SpaceX as well.
- 14:48If anything happens public safety wise, Elon and company
- 14:52are going to be pushed back possibly for months, maybe a
- 14:57year or two depending on the severity of the public safety
- 15:01incident. Now, IFT 5, this is going to be
- 15:06a wild ride. If they do that booster landing
- 15:09in the Gulf of Mexico, what's going to happen?
- 15:12I want them to go as fast as possible.
- 15:15And of course, iterative design is the best way to do rocket
- 15:19design, apparently, because we know that Elon and SpaceX,
- 15:23they're killing it right now. They're doing great work.
- 15:26So there's no reason why they should not continue doing this
- 15:29in the future. Let me ask.
- 15:31You a question Would you pay to be part of a social media
- 15:36network? More importantly, would you pay
- 15:40to be a user on elonmusksx.com? So Elon Musk has just announced
- 15:48a plan to charge new users on the social media platform X,
- 15:51formerly known as Twitter. Of course, a fee to post
- 15:54content. Would you pay for that?
- 15:57That's the question. This aims to address the ongoing
- 16:01issue about accounts that plagued the platform.
- 16:03Musk believes that imposing a small fee on new users is
- 16:06essential for combating the influx of these fake accounts
- 16:11now. Since acquiring Twitter, though,
- 16:13in 2022, Musk has repeatedly floated the idea of a user fee.
- 16:17He suggests that such a fee could effectively deter the
- 16:20creation of spam accounts driven by artificial intelligence and
- 16:24coordinating with troll farms, which can easily bypass
- 16:28traditional security measures such as CAPTCHA.
- 16:31Now, as part of an experimental policy implemented in October of
- 16:352023, X began charging new unverified users in New Zealand
- 16:40and the Philippines an annual fee of $1.00.
- 16:45Now, this fee enabled these users to engage fully with the
- 16:48platform, allowing them to post and interact with other content
- 16:51which was otherwise restricted. Now, the issue of bots on X has
- 16:55been a persistent challenge, one that Elon Musk has vowed to
- 16:58conquer even before finalizing his purchase of the platform.
- 17:01His strategy has involved various initiatives aimed at
- 17:04reducing these unwanted accounts, which not only distort
- 17:08user engagement metrics but also compromise the overall user
- 17:11experience. On April 15th of this year,
- 17:15attention was drawn to a change in X's policy that indicated a
- 17:19potential expansion of the annual user fee to additional
- 17:22countries. This update was first spotted by
- 17:25an automated tracking account on X.
- 17:27And was later. Confirmed by Elon Musk in a
- 17:29series of posts, Musk said unfortunately a small fee for
- 17:33new user write access is the only way to curb the relentless
- 17:37onslaught of bots. Current AI and troll farms can
- 17:41pass the quote Are you a bot test with ease.
- 17:45Now he shows that he's using some rationale for the policy
- 17:50shift, highlighting the ineffectiveness of conventional
- 17:54security measures against sophisticated automated AI
- 17:58systems. Now, despite the introduction of
- 18:00a user fee, must clarify that new users would not be
- 18:03indefinitely bound to this fee. You mentioned that after an
- 18:06initial three months, new users would gain full access to the
- 18:09platform without any payment, thus providing a balance between
- 18:12initial security measures and eventual.
- 18:15User freedom now. Let me ask you a question.
- 18:19If the bots are so powerful that they can bypass everything,
- 18:23$1.00 fee doesn't seem like a lot if you can gain 1000 dollars
- 18:30$10,000 a $100,000 from using the platform with your bot.
- 18:35Of course, on the black market, on the Gray market, there are
- 18:38credit cards that are stolen and possibility that they could use
- 18:42those credit cards with their bots to use their influence to
- 18:47make more money than $1.00 on the platform per year.
- 18:51The introduction of fees for new users coincides with broader
- 18:54efforts by X to cleanse the platform of spam and bots
- 18:57accounts, though earlier in the month, X initiated a major purge
- 19:01aimed at reducing these accounts, though the impact on
- 19:04the platform's bot population remains to be seen.
- 19:07There's no data out there yet from Elon Musk or from X.
- 19:12Now. Musk's approach to managing X
- 19:14also involves leveraging the platform's data for his other
- 19:16ventures. For instance, his AI company, X
- 19:19AI, utilizes public posts from X to train its machine learning
- 19:23algorithms. This integration shows that Elon
- 19:26is using his broader vision and all of his companies combined to
- 19:30make XAI better. But if there are bot accounts on
- 19:34X, he's not getting clean data for his AI models, and that's
- 19:39going to be a huge problem in the future.
- 19:41You know, X's strategy to monetize and also, let's say,
- 19:46enhance user engagement includes making its advanced chatbot,
- 19:50Grok, available to premium users.
- 19:52And like I said, if that's trained on bot information.
- 19:55There's no real upside to it. Because if there's millions of
- 19:59bots, bot accounts compared to human accounts, it's going to be
- 20:05a a tough go for Grok at this point.
- 20:07Now Grok used to be offered at a higher subscription tier and is
- 20:12now more accessible, potentially increasing its use and relevance
- 20:15within the user base. Now the financial aspect of
- 20:18these changes is significant. X has been facing financial
- 20:21challenges with a reported 71%. Drop in its value since Musk's
- 20:25takeover. The.
- 20:26Introduction of a posting fee could provide a new revenue
- 20:29stream at a time when the platform has experienced
- 20:31significant advertising revenue losses.
- 20:34Now, the decline in advertising dollars was particularly stark
- 20:37following a backlash from advertisers over content
- 20:40moderation issues. Companies like Comcast, Apple
- 20:43and the Walt Disney Company withdrew their ads after reports
- 20:47service of ads appearing next to inappropriate content including
- 20:51pro Nazi and hate speech. Now Musk's direct responses to
- 20:56advertisers concerns have been controversial.
- 20:58In an interview, he bluntly criticized those withdrawing
- 21:01their advertising from X, which reflects his unconventional
- 21:04approach to business and public relations in response to the
- 21:09ongoing challenges with brand safety.
- 21:10Though third party firms like Double Verify have been involved
- 21:13in assessing the suitability of content on X for advertisers,
- 21:17there been discrepancies in these assessments, indicating
- 21:19ongoing issues with maintaining a brand safe environment.
- 21:23The bot problem at X is not just a nuisance, but it's a huge
- 21:28operational challenge impacting everything from user experience
- 21:31to advertising, trust and revenue.
- 21:33And Musk's decision to impose a posting fee on new users is a
- 21:37strategic move to mitigate these issues.
- 21:40Albeit we don't know how effective this is going to be,
- 21:43and neither does Elon at this point.
- 21:45Could drive some users away. I know to post on X.
- 21:50There's no reason for me to pay a dollar for that.
- 21:52I'll just move to a different platform.
- 21:54Most people think the same way and these platforms have been
- 21:58historically free and we can post whatever we want whenever
- 22:03we want to. Facebook, even Threads, now all
- 22:06of these platforms, Instagram. YouTube.
- 22:09Spotify for podcasters where we post this podcast, everything's
- 22:12free to post. Why would I pay even a dollar to
- 22:15be able to post on this platform now?
- 22:18This policy change has sparked a variety of reactions like mine
- 22:21right there, and I would love to hear what you say about it.
- 22:25Because if you're a user of X, you should be concerned about
- 22:28this. Some view the feat as a
- 22:30necessary evil. Though and I.
- 22:31Totally understand that if there are hundreds of millions of bots
- 22:36running around doing malicious things.
- 22:39Putting a barrier. To entry in front of them is.
- 22:42One of the best. Ways to mitigate this now?
- 22:47These the quality of interactions on X, while others
- 22:51are concerned about the potential barrier it creates for
- 22:53new users. I can understand that too.
- 22:57Maybe you don't have a dollar to interact with these platforms.
- 23:01Maybe you're in a financial situation.
- 23:02Maybe you're in a different country than the United States
- 23:05and you don't make a lot of money.
- 23:07You don't make a dollar. That you can put towards social
- 23:09media, so I can understand that too.
- 23:12And you'd probably move platforms like I was talking
- 23:14about before, move over to Threads or just move to
- 23:17Instagram or some other platform, Facebook, et cetera,
- 23:21so you can post your content. And that's understandable.
- 23:24And as X continues to evolve under Musk's leadership, the
- 23:28effectiveness of this new fee system in combating bots will be
- 23:32important all over. Stakeholders from users to
- 23:35advertisers, will be watching closely to see what happens with
- 23:39his imposed $1.00 fee for X. On today's episode, we're going
- 23:46to be talking about Spacex's HLS mission to the moon, NASA's
- 23:51Orion spacecraft, and how things may completely change for the
- 23:57Artemis missions going forward. Now, originally NASA wanted
- 24:02SpaceX to launch the lunar HLS Starship to Moon orbit, where it
- 24:09would dock with the Orion spacecraft and the HLS ship
- 24:13would take the astronauts down to the surface of the moon.
- 24:18Now, something drastic may be changing in the near future.
- 24:24There's been murmurings that behind closed doors, NASA is
- 24:28discussing a low Earth orbit transfer of astronauts between
- 24:33the Orion spacecraft and the Starship HLS.
- 24:38Now, these are unconfirmed right now.
- 24:41They haven't released anything about this yet, but Ars Technica
- 24:45posted an article about it and Eric Berger is very reputable
- 24:49and he was the one that posted this article.
- 24:51What may be happening with the Starship in the Orion?
- 24:55So let's just wind it in a little bit because we have to
- 24:59understand what the process is of getting the HLS.
- 25:02Starship. To the moon first.
- 25:04OK, so first they have to launch a fuel depot or a fuel fuel, a
- 25:08few fuel depots for the actual Starship to fuel up in low Earth
- 25:15orbit before it gets to the moon, before it launches to the
- 25:18moon. In NASA, it said somewhere
- 25:21around 10:00-ish. In SpaceX, Elon Musk said
- 25:25somewhere around 10 to 15. So we're going to go on the low
- 25:29side. We're going to say about 10
- 25:31depots will be launched to low Earth orbit where the HLS
- 25:34Starship will dock with them and fuel up before it goes to the
- 25:38moon. Then the HLS will be fueled up
- 25:41and possibly in between the fuel and going to the moon.
- 25:45Like that step right there? Astronauts will fly on an SLS
- 25:51rocket to. Low Earth orbit.
- 25:54And then dock with the Starship. Now, we're not sure if this is
- 25:59even feasible right now. We know that this is going to be
- 26:02a thing in the future, but there are some caveats to this that
- 26:07could make this a more impressive mission and also
- 26:11could save NASA billions of dollars in the future.
- 26:15You're asking yourself, why do they need the SLS rocket if it's
- 26:17not going all the way to the moon?
- 26:19That's what I'm asking myself too.
- 26:22If the Orion capsule could be retrofitted to be on top of a
- 26:26Starship or on top of a Dragon or Falcon 9 instead of a Dragon
- 26:31capsule, that's a possibility. But you're also probably
- 26:35thinking, why don't they just use a Dragon capsule and dock
- 26:38that with the Starship? Because Dragon capsules already
- 26:42go to low Earth orbit and they can dock with the International
- 26:46Space Station. So that seems like the logical
- 26:50next step, right? Not quite yet.
- 26:54So there will be a possible mission with the Orion
- 26:58spacecraft and the HLS Starship? Because they need to test this
- 27:03out to see if the Orion can actually.
- 27:05Dock with the Starship. While in space, because that's
- 27:08what they're going to be doing in the Moon's orbit, and the
- 27:12Dragon capsule cannot go to the Moon and dock with the Starship
- 27:17and come back to Earth. It just isn't feasible.
- 27:19It doesn't work like that. The physics don't work.
- 27:22The Dragon capsule is not built for that.
- 27:24So they need to use the Orion capsule or some other capsule
- 27:27that could be created in the future for docking with the
- 27:30Starship and then coming back to Earth.
- 27:33So once the astronauts are on board the Starship, then three
- 27:39or more astronauts would fly their way to the moon's orbit,
- 27:43where they would land on the moon's surface.
- 27:45And then when they're done with their science and
- 27:47experimentation on a lunar surface, they would fly back up
- 27:51and dock with the Orion capsule or the Moon station, transfer
- 27:56the astronauts again, and then from the Orion, they would come
- 28:01back down to Earth. The HLS rocket would stay either
- 28:03in the lunar orbit or docked with the Moon station until the
- 28:08next mission and possibly just land on the moon and wait for
- 28:13another HLS rocket to come up because there's a limited shelf
- 28:17life for these things while they're in space and orbiting in
- 28:19the moon. So could land it on the moon and
- 28:22it could become a habitat for future astronauts.
- 28:26Now, the good thing about going to the moon in the HLS is that
- 28:30you're not cramped like the Orion spacecraft.
- 28:33The Orion spacecraft, even though it is a modern marvel of
- 28:37engineering, there's not a lot of room.
- 28:40You can't really move around a lot.
- 28:42You can't really do much, and you can't really stretch a lot.
- 28:45There's no, there's no room for activities there.
- 28:50With the HLS Starship. It's 9 meters around, 30 feet
- 28:53around. It's a massive ship and if they
- 28:56can construct this so the astronauts could just fly all
- 29:00the way to the moon on the HLS rocket, seems like it's totally
- 29:03doable. Then they could land the
- 29:07Starship with the astronauts on board and it would be a much
- 29:10better experience for the astronauts.
- 29:13They could have more experimentation time because the
- 29:16HLS rocket could have more room for experiments and so low Earth
- 29:20orbit experimentation while they're waiting.
- 29:22Or. They could do experimentation
- 29:24all the way to the moon and while they get to the moon,
- 29:27while they orbit the moon and when they land on the moon.
- 29:30So the experimentation time and the experimentation mass of
- 29:35experimentation could be much bigger than just going in the
- 29:40Orion space capsule. Because it seems, I don't know,
- 29:42it seems like this is the win win.
- 29:44We've been talking about this for a long time.
- 29:46I know a lot of space reporters were like, why do we need Orion
- 29:49when Starship's going to low Earth orbit anyway and they're
- 29:53going to dock with Starship and then go didn't make a lot of
- 29:56sense. So we've been talking about this
- 29:58for a long time. But since there's murmurings
- 29:59within NASA now about this happening, it's this totally a
- 30:03possibility. They're going to need to launch
- 30:06a few SLS, few more SLS rockets before they change completely
- 30:09over to the Starship because Starship can do everything that
- 30:13SLS can and possibly even more. It's, it looks like a bright
- 30:18future for HLS Starship. Now the first mission that these
- 30:23astronauts may do because they can't go into the Starship
- 30:28immediately then fly to the moon, this they need to test
- 30:31this thing out. So the Polaris program was going
- 30:35to test a docking from a dragon into a Starship and do some low
- 30:41Earth orbit experimentation and check out to see if the Starship
- 30:45is feasible for low Earth orbit or moon travel.
- 30:48And that was going to be the initial docking and testing
- 30:53phase. So there's a possibility that
- 30:57the Orion could, or maybe even a Dragon could do this docked with
- 31:01the HLS. 2 astronauts would transfer into the HLS Starship,
- 31:08while two others would stay inside the Dragon capsule and do
- 31:12testing from there. From a distance.
- 31:13They could do maneuvering, they could do some burns, they could
- 31:16do orientations, they could possibly even do an.
- 31:20Eva, which doesn't make. A lot of sense from a Starship
- 31:24standpoint, but it might be something they do in the future
- 31:27just for testing. Then they could redock with the
- 31:30Dragon capsule and then come back down to Earth.
- 31:32So they have to test the Starship out before they get it
- 31:35to the moon. So the HLS Starship is that
- 31:40might be the first Test of this series of tests.
- 31:43Then that HLS Starship could fly to the moon and do a test
- 31:47landing on the lunar surface, just to make sure that there's
- 31:51no astronauts on board in case something bad happens.
- 31:54So. Let me know down the commas
- 31:57below what you think about this 'cause it seems like a logical
- 32:00step forward. Like why would they even use the
- 32:02Orion capsule in low Earth orbit to test this when they have a
- 32:07Dragon capsule? But they do need the Orion
- 32:09capsule to go to the moon and come back down to Earth, so I
- 32:12could totally get that. I totally get that part.
- 32:14But everything else seems very logical.
- 32:17Dock in Earth orbit and make sure that everything's OK with
- 32:21the Starship and command a gigantic spaceship between the
- 32:25Earth and the moon. That sounds like a no brainer to
- 32:28me. 150 to 200 feet long Starship.
- 32:33It's a massive ship. Can do all sorts of sciencing
- 32:36all sorts of engineering on your way to the moon and in low earth
- 32:39orbit while you wait and then head to the moon.
- 32:42Sounds sounds great to me. Let me know what you think down
- 32:45in the comments. Now, does this make the SLS
- 32:49rocket unsustainable for the billions and billions of dollars
- 32:53per launch that it costs? I think it does.
- 32:57I think it does because if the Orion spacecraft only has to go
- 33:00to the Earth orbit. They can launch it from another
- 33:02rocket, whether it's a ULA rocket, what it whatever.
- 33:06It could be a star or it could be another SpaceX rocket, who
- 33:08knows. I'm not sure exactly what the
- 33:10configuration would be, but the SLS rocket is a jobs program it
- 33:15makes. America, a bunch of money, and
- 33:19these people are spread across the whole nation making and
- 33:23designing, building, engineering, all of these parts
- 33:25to build this massive SLS rocket.
- 33:28So the SLS rocket is a jobs program as well.
- 33:32So they would lose tax money and they would lose funding if they
- 33:36get rid of the SLS rocket. So I don't think they're going
- 33:38to get rid of the SLS rocket. They may use it for deep space
- 33:41exploration or something like that in the future and just
- 33:45shift over to Starship and SpaceX for the time being for
- 33:48the moon launches and maybe SLS will be more Mars and further
- 33:53out into the solar system in the future.
- 33:55But we know that Starship will be.
- 33:57Capable in the future of going to Mars as well so.
- 34:00There's really no reason to use SLS anymore if this is true.
- 34:07Other than super far out space like science missions, it's a
- 34:11massive rocket and Starship can do everything the SLS can do and
- 34:14then more. So I think this might be the end
- 34:17of the SLS program. This might be the beginning of
- 34:20the end of the SLS. Program.
- 34:21Today we're gonna be talking about a company named Max Space
- 34:25and the idea of building massive, massive, massive
- 34:30inflatable space stations on Mars.
- 34:39What is this? What is this thing?
- 34:41I'm not 100% sure that this is even feasible, but according to
- 34:45Max Space, within the next 10 years we're going to have
- 34:48stadium sized space stations in the orbit of the Earth, but also
- 34:54space stations on the surface of Mars, possibly in Mars orbit,
- 34:58anywhere in the solar system. And most of these, every
- 35:03component could be flown on a SpaceX Falcon 9 and in the
- 35:08future for the stadium, the massive ones could be launched
- 35:13out of SpaceX Starship. Now these things have been tried
- 35:16in the past and some of them successful and some of them not
- 35:20so successful. But right now there are two that
- 35:23we know of. One of the Co founders of this
- 35:25company actually has two inflatable modules in space
- 35:30right now and they've been orbiting the Earth for a while
- 35:34now. I want to tell you about
- 35:35Maxspace they just released. Kind of a.
- 35:37Press release recently and I'm going to talk about some of the
- 35:42points of this press release. 40 years of building successful
- 35:46space companies is Maxspace 2 entrepreneurs.
- 35:51Aaron Kemmer who's the Co founder of Maxspace and said
- 35:56that they're going to bring this technology to light in the next
- 36:01few years. I don't even understand this
- 36:05because it's so wild. I'd love to bring you wild
- 36:09stuff. Let's roll the clip.
- 36:12Here you can see they're building a Lunar Module mock up,
- 36:16but also they have a clip. Of the interior of.
- 36:19One of these modules, absolutely massive amount of space for
- 36:24anybody that's travelling to space.
- 36:26So that was wild, right? You can see that there's an
- 36:29inflatable space station ready to be built.
- 36:32All of these modules can be connected.
- 36:34You can get different sizes, different shapes.
- 36:37They can do different things like medical, they could be a
- 36:42sleeping pod, there could be something like a workout pod.
- 36:47These things could be built into anything you wanted.
- 36:49Or maybe like they want to do, they want to do a space hotel,
- 36:55they want to make it into a tourism destination, put a
- 36:58couple of these pods up in space in orbit, fly people up there on
- 37:02a Falcon 9 dock with it. It'll be sturdy enough to do all
- 37:05this stuff. By the way, it's not inflatable
- 37:07like, you know, like a. Pool.
- 37:09Toy or something like that. It's very structurally rigid, so
- 37:12it can handle anything the space station can handle and then
- 37:16some. It's actually more protected
- 37:19from projectiles in the space station, which is incredible.
- 37:25They want to disrupt space, the Space Flight industry.
- 37:29They want to disrupt space tourism.
- 37:33Because right now there's only a few things you can do in space.
- 37:37You can fly the space and orbit the Earth.
- 37:39You can go to the space station, and that's about it.
- 37:43But in the future, if Max Space is successful, they're going to
- 37:48allow people to go to space and live in a space hotel for a
- 37:52little while. It's like an Airbnb in space.
- 37:54How cool is that? Or maybe, you know, maybe
- 37:56there's a shorter duration where you do get to orbit the Earth a
- 37:59bunch of times, then come back down, dock with the Falcon 9,
- 38:04come back down, or with the dragon, sorry, the Crew Dragon,
- 38:06then come back down to Earth. You know, when your mission is
- 38:10done and think about the scientific benefits of having a
- 38:16massive space station. Not only can you have space to
- 38:20do things, room to do things, but you can bring up equipment,
- 38:24say on a SpaceX Starship, massive equipment.
- 38:27That you could. Feed into this thing in the
- 38:30future or masses of equipment, not massive because we don't
- 38:34know what the ports are going to be like on this in the future,
- 38:37but masses of equipment, tonnage of equipment that you can put
- 38:42into low Earth orbit inside of one of these modules.
- 38:46Sounds pretty impressive, right? And the Co owners or the Co
- 38:50founders and Aaron Kemmer and maximum of Dejong.
- 38:58Max is a visionary in this space.
- 39:01Designer, engineer, manufacturing, space deployment.
- 39:05Everything is already been done by Max and he's built first two
- 39:09inflatable spacecraft pressure halls, Genesis One and Genesis 2
- 39:13which are circling the globe right now.
- 39:17So there's a. Proven track record from.
- 39:19From at least Max going forward and also Aaron as sort of like a
- 39:25Aaron's the kind of the business guy behind this as far as I know
- 39:29and Max is the engineering brains behind it.
- 39:31But they do have a small. Team that they're working with
- 39:34to get this done. Medicine and space engineering
- 39:38and space space construction. Think about that.
- 39:42This could be a way for them to store like a storage modules as
- 39:46well in space. So if you bring up pieces for, I
- 39:50don't know, a habitat in space, some other sort of habitat in
- 39:54space, or some spacecraft where you need.
- 39:56There's a bunch of small parts that you need to put into one
- 39:59spot. This could be the way to do.
- 40:02It and you can transport them from either a Starship or a
- 40:04Falcon 9 and you could transport them and store them there until
- 40:08they're needed after you build the rest of the platform until
- 40:13you put all these modules together.
- 40:14The thing is you can build these modules according to them kind
- 40:19of as big as you want to. And what's really cool about
- 40:23this is that they can build something as big as the space
- 40:27station or a little bit bigger for a fraction of the cost.
- 40:33The space station costs $100 billion to run over the time
- 40:37that it's been up in space, and they think that they can get it
- 40:41down to about $1 billion in operational cost.
- 40:47To. Build this thing in space, fly
- 40:49these and put them in space. So if they could cut it down to
- 40:53a billion dollars, imagine the cost savings for that.
- 40:56And also imagine what else they could put into space for $100
- 41:01billion. How?
- 41:02Large. That space station would be so
- 41:05they're saying a stadium size like a like a football or soccer
- 41:10field size to begin with. Like, that's what's what they're
- 41:13aiming for, bigger than the ISS. They want to be bigger than the
- 41:17ISS, and there's more room inside than the ISS.
- 41:20And also, there's no reason why they can't go bigger than that.
- 41:25They're in microgravity. So the gravity isn't going to be
- 41:29yanking down on either end of this thing.
- 41:31It's gonna float around the whole orbit of the Earth.
- 41:36I mean, the possibilities are endless up here, you know, with
- 41:40these modules. So I just want to let you know
- 41:43about it because I think it's a really impressive idea and they
- 41:47have a really impressive track record as well, Max, especially
- 41:52Aaron as well. Aaron is.
- 41:53He's had a couple. Space programs, space companies
- 41:57in the past made in Space, which is space manufacturing Magic,
- 42:01which is an AI assistant. He's also a former board member
- 42:04of Red Wire Space and he exited in 2021.
- 42:08He's a board member of Outpost Space in a prolific space Angel
- 42:11investor. That's what Aaron is.
- 42:14And Max is a visionary and design engineering and
- 42:16manufacturer of space deployment architecture.
- 42:19So he built the first two inflatable spacecraft and
- 42:22they're in orbit still. So that's pretty good as of
- 42:26right now. So Aaron prestigious 30 under 30
- 42:31Forbes list as well. So business is in Aaron's blood.
- 42:36Let's see, Aaron LED Made in space.
- 42:39To fly dozens of. Successful space missions and
- 42:41over $250 million in NASA contracts.
- 42:44Aaron holds 6 patents in space related tech with four
- 42:47additional patents pending. So I may have gotten a little
- 42:50bit wrong about Aaron. I thought Aaron was an Angel
- 42:52investor to begin with here and I know he's he's run some
- 42:55businesses in the past and he has some patents.
- 42:57So I didn't, I didn't say that at the beginning.
- 43:00So I'm like coming back. Full circle here.
- 43:03To let you know about this and then red wire space, of course,
- 43:08working right now with Max space, wild, wild, wild, wild.
- 43:13I hope we have cameras. Hope there's a, a dragon capsule
- 43:17or something up there that can film this or they they pop out a
- 43:22little module with a with a camera.
- 43:23That would be great. But we'll see.
- 43:26We'll see what happens in the near future and I hope it's
- 43:28successful. That's all I got to say.
- 43:29I hope it's successful. It's going to be wild.
- 43:31Tesla has issued a recall for all 3878 cyber trucks.
- 43:36It is delivered due to a defect where the accelerator pedal can
- 43:40become stuck, increasing the risk of accidents for the
- 43:44drivers and the people inside the vehicle, as well as other
- 43:47vehicles on the road. Now, the issue has been
- 43:49identified by the National Highway Traffic Safety
- 43:52Administration or the NHTSA, which noted the potential for
- 43:55the pedal to lodge in the trim around the footwell, posing a
- 43:59serious safety risk. Now, this recall makes a
- 44:02challenging period for Tesla following workforce deductions
- 44:06exceeding 10% or 14,000 people and the departure of key
- 44:10executives earlier in this week. Now, these events were
- 44:13compounded by a legal set back involving CEO Elon Musk's
- 44:17compensation package, which shareholders are now
- 44:20reconsidering after a judge's ruling.
- 44:24Now, complaints about the Cybertruck's faulty accelerator
- 44:26pedal emerged recently, prompting Tesla to halt
- 44:29deliveries temporarily as it addresses the defect.
- 44:33On social media, Musk emphasized the company's cautious approach,
- 44:36stating that there have been no incidents or injuries reported
- 44:40in relation to this defects. And nobody's been hurt yet,
- 44:43which is great. And Tesla confirmed the
- 44:46technical cause of the problem to the NHTSA, linking it to an
- 44:49unauthorized use of lubricant during the assembly process,
- 44:53which compromised the pedal's attachment.
- 44:56This discovery led to the decision on April 12th to
- 44:58proceed with a full recall of the Cybertrucks.
- 45:02Company plans to rectify the issue by replacing or repairing
- 45:06the accelerator pedals on all affected Cybertrucks.
- 45:09Additionally, Tesla has begun incorporating a redesigned pedal
- 45:12in new vehicles and is addressing units currently in
- 45:15transit or at delivery centers. Now, despite the Cybertruck only
- 45:20beginning shipments late the previous year, this isn't its
- 45:23first recall. An earlier, less severe recall
- 45:26involved updating software across all Tesla models due to a
- 45:31font size of the warning lights. Now, Tesla's first revealed the
- 45:36Cybertruck in 2019, but its launch was delayed until last
- 45:39year due to production challenges and supply issues
- 45:43related to its batteries. The recent recalls and other
- 45:45setbacks have not only affected Tesla's operational momentum,
- 45:48also its stock value, which saw a significant decline in the
- 45:51past week. The Drive reported that drivers
- 45:54experiencing stuck pedals could still halt their Cybertrucks
- 45:57using the brake, although the vehicle will continue to move
- 46:00slightly now. This flaw raised concerns over
- 46:03the vehicle's safety during operation.
- 46:06Social media posts from Tesla owners indicated temporary halts
- 46:09in Cybertruck deliveries, with some reporting issues with the
- 46:12accelerator pedal getting wedged.
- 46:14The community response included sharing videos on social media
- 46:17and photos that highlight the defects impact on pedal
- 46:21functionality, which grew greater attention to this
- 46:25defect. Now, despite no injuries or
- 46:29accidents, the seriousness of the potential risk prompted
- 46:32Tesla to take swift action about this.
- 46:35Musk reiterated on X that the company's focus on safety and
- 46:38the precautionary steps being taken are all about safety being
- 46:43the priority. A Recently, Tesla Cyber Truck
- 46:46customers noted on X that deliveries have resumed with
- 46:49updates on Vins and scheduled delivery dates, indicating that
- 46:52Tesla is progressing with fixes and addressing customer concerns
- 46:56effectively. Tesla's proactive measures in
- 46:59resolving the pedal issue show that they maintain high safety
- 47:04standards going forward with the Cyber Truck.
- 47:07The automaker has historically emphasized safety in his vehicle
- 47:10designs, aiming to position his models as leaders in the
- 47:13respective categories. Now, as Tesla addresses the
- 47:16recent challenge, it's implementing both hardware
- 47:18replacements and production adjustments and will update
- 47:21software when needed. And the approach aims to ensure
- 47:24that all new and existing cyber trucks meet stringent safety
- 47:27criteria before they are delivered to customers.
- 47:31And in response to the recall, Tesla has announced that
- 47:33affected vehicle owners will receive notification letters in
- 47:36June outlining the details and instructions for remedying the
- 47:39accelerator pedal issue at no cost to the owners.
- 47:43The first quarter of 2024 has seen Tesla recall approximately
- 47:462.4 million vehicles across various models for different
- 47:50issues, according to Busy Car. While most of these recalls are
- 47:53typically resolved with software updates, the current situation
- 47:57requires a more hands on approach where you have to take
- 47:59it to the shop or they can come to you.
- 48:01And besides the accelerator pedal recall, Tesla has recently
- 48:05addressed other safety concerns through recalls, such as a
- 48:08significant recall in February concerning warning light font
- 48:11sizes. Furthermore, an ongoing
- 48:13investigation into power steering issues by US safety
- 48:16regulators has been escalated to an engineering analysis, but
- 48:21Tesla was swift about this. They are concerned for the
- 48:24safety of their drivers. That's one of the major.
- 48:28Key. Features that Tesla offers that
- 48:30some other automakers don't. But they have ongoing efforts to
- 48:34innovate and approve the vehicle lineup, and they're resilient in
- 48:38the face of operational changes. The company continues to adapt
- 48:41its production and quality assurance processes to prevent
- 48:45future issues for the Cybertruck and all other vehicles in their
- 48:49lineup. Tesla Inc recently announced A
- 48:52substantial reduction of its workforce, cutting approximately
- 48:5514,000 jobs, or about 10% of all of its employees.
- 49:00That's a ongoing financial challenge at Tesla right now.
- 49:03It's a shift in the company's strategic direction and there's
- 49:07cost reductions at foot at a new.
- 49:09Focus on specific. Technological advancement such
- 49:12as a robo taxi in development and the manner in which these
- 49:15layoffs were conducted has drawn significant criticism.
- 49:19And that means that there's issues in corporate
- 49:21communication and management empathy at this point.
- 49:25Now, the layoffs were communicated via e-mail, with
- 49:28many employees learning about their job loss in less than
- 49:31ideal circumstances. And reports indicate that some
- 49:34employees receive their termination notices in the
- 49:36middle of their work shift or upon attempting to access their
- 49:40workplace, only to find their security credentials
- 49:43deactivated. This method of notification has
- 49:45been perceived as impersonal and indicative of poor planning and
- 49:49poor management, and also poor consideration for the impacted
- 49:53employees emotional and professional well-being.
- 49:56Now, an incident at Texas Gigafactory illustrated the
- 50:00harsh reality of these layoffs. An employee shared their
- 50:02experience with the local news outlet stating.
- 50:04I was literally standing outside trying to figure out why my
- 50:08badge wasn't working. Why is it that I can't log in
- 50:11only to find out that they had been laid off?
- 50:14Such instances show that this is abrupt and disorganized, and
- 50:19it's not to be taken lightly. Now, the official communication
- 50:23from Tesla cited A thorough organizational review and the
- 50:26different decisions to globally reduce headcount as the reasons
- 50:30behind the layoffs. The affected employees were
- 50:33informed that their positions were eliminated due to this
- 50:35restructuring, adding to the high stress situation and the
- 50:38uncertainty of this time. Now, the reaction to this layoff
- 50:42has been overwhelmingly negative, with critics pointing
- 50:45out the lack of foresight and empathy in Tesla's layoff
- 50:48strategy. Comparisons were made to
- 50:51previous layoffs conducted by other companies by Elon Musk,
- 50:54where similar patterns of abrupt and minimally communicated job
- 50:58cuts were observed. From a business perspective,
- 51:01Tesla maintains that the layoffs are a necessary step towards
- 51:03adjusting to current market demands and financial realities.
- 51:07The company is navigating decreased sales and a
- 51:09significant shift in project focus, moving away from some
- 51:12early automotive plans in favor of developing new technologies
- 51:17like robo taxis. We've heard about this for years
- 51:20and it looks like it may be happening now.
- 51:22Despite legal compliance offering laid off employees
- 51:25compensation through June 15th, which aligns with a 60 day
- 51:28notice period, the approach taken by Tesla has been
- 51:31questioned. The focus appears to be on legal
- 51:34adherence rather than genuinely supportive practices that
- 51:37consider the well-being of the individuals affected.
- 51:41Now, personal accounts and broader reports suggest that the
- 51:43layoff process added significantly to the emotional
- 51:46distress experienced by employees.
- 51:48Losing a job abruptly destabilizes personal and
- 51:51financial plans. In the manner in which these
- 51:53layoffs were executed only intensified these difficulties.
- 51:57And while Tesla is known for its innovation and has been
- 52:00significant success in the electric vehicle market,
- 52:03company's internal practices, particularly in human resources,
- 52:07have often been criticized. Situation shows that Tesla and

- 52:34This restructuring shows that the market is changing and the
- 52:37operations at Tesla are also changing, including missed
- 52:40delivery dates that have happened recently and reported
- 52:44issues with the launch of new models like the Cybertruck.
- 52:47Additionally, rumors about the cancellation of the low cost
- 52:50Model 2 vehicle have added to uncertainty, although Elon Musk
- 52:54has disputed these claims. Financially, Tesla has
- 52:57experienced a significant downturn, with a 37% drop in
- 53:00share prices this year and a notable decline in sales.
- 53:03The first quarter report showed a 8.5% decrease in deliveries
- 53:07compared to the previous year, marking the first such decline
- 53:11since disruptions caused by the 2020 global pandemic.
- 53:15Amidst these strategic and operational upheavals, Tesla has
- 53:18also proposed A substantial pay package for CEO Elon Musk.
- 53:23Similar to a previous compensation plan that was

- 53:29This proposal is likely to be scrutinized in light of the

- 53:34It's $58 billion, by the way. And in response to criticisms of
- 53:38the layoff process, Elon Musk acknowledged that some severance
- 53:42packages were incorrectly low and assure that these errors
- 53:45will be corrected. This acknowledgement, however,
- 53:48it does little to mitigate the broader concerns about how the
- 53:51layoffs were managed and communicated.
- 53:53Now, Musk's e-mail to employees attempted to address some of the
- 53:56fallout, stating as we reorganize Tesla, it has come to
- 53:59my attention that some severance packages are incorrectly low.
- 54:02My apologies for this mistake. It is being corrected
- 54:05immediately. And despite these efforts, the
- 54:08damage to employee morale and public perception may be harder
- 54:11to mend. And looking forward, Tesla's
- 54:13management faces the challenge of rebuilding trust not only
- 54:16with its workforce but also with investors in the public.
- 54:19The company must navigate the strategic pivot while ensuring
- 54:22more consideration and strategic handling of its workforce,
- 54:25especially during transitions that involve job cuts of the
- 54:29layoffs at Tesla have thus sparked a broader discussion
- 54:32about corporate responsibility and the ethical implications of
