- 5:28Speaker 5: And that's just a college football with slate next week

- 5:50Speaker 5: lot better. I'll lost my te get ahead, lost my
- 5:53Speaker 5: train of thought. I know football is back.
- 5:55Speaker 1: You're excited. I'm very excited. The Huskers play this Thursday.
- 6:00Speaker 2: I do.
- 6:01Speaker 1: And it's here's the best television. And the thing that
- 6:04Speaker 1: fires Incinnati Bearcats go ahead, the thing they gives a
- 6:09Speaker 1: rule year three, the era.
- 6:12Speaker 5: Go ahead, history, history, Matt rule year three, and the fire.
- 6:16Speaker 5: The thing that fires me up is everybody's making this
- 6:18Speaker 5: out to be a big game because it's neutral site,
- 6:21Speaker 5: and Cincinnati was good four years ago, five years ago
- 6:24Speaker 5: when Fickle was there. I have no doubts right now
- 6:29Speaker 5: that Nebraska is covering minus six and a half. It's
- 6:32Speaker 5: almost that's as salting. Yeah, I know, I know. I'm
- 6:38Speaker 5: on that with you.
- 6:39Speaker 7: I'm on that.
- 6:39Speaker 5: I might not move the line as much as you,
- 6:42Speaker 5: but I am with you on minus six and a half.
- 6:44Speaker 5: That's more of a locker room thing. The locker room
- 6:47Speaker 5: can come out Yes Wednesdays, it comes out at six pm.
- 6:50Speaker 5: Comes out at six pm on Wednesdays. That's the college
- 6:52Speaker 5: football Thursday six am is when the NFL portion comes out.
- 6:57Speaker 5: That is how the locker room schedule is going to
- 6:59Speaker 5: work this season. Obviously, we have Thanksgivings, we have these
- 7:01Speaker 5: other things. We'll figure all that out as it goes.
- 7:03Speaker 1: If you're sitting there rocked up and you happen to
- 7:06Speaker 1: miss the locker room debut last week, we have Josh
- 7:10Speaker 1: Pate with the Boys college football. Taylor just said it.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Every Wednesday at six pm, the Boys and Josh Pate,
- 7:16Speaker 1: NFL's locker room. You got the Boys with Delaney Walker
- 7:19Speaker 1: and Clay Matthews. That's all season long, gentlemen, that is
- 7:23Speaker 1: all season long. Great news. Coming off of last week,
- 7:27Speaker 1: over a thousand people subscribe new subscribers when tuning into
- 7:30Speaker 1: those shows, Really, people are rocked up. They're ready to
- 7:33Speaker 1: go for this football po juice up.
- 7:34Speaker 5: I will say this, if we're playing a transparency game
- 7:38Speaker 5: every year, week one of the locker room or whatever
- 7:41Speaker 5: gambling show we're doing kind of has that big spike.
- 7:44Speaker 5: It's up to me. You everybody on this bus and
- 7:47Speaker 5: everybody who watches this show to make sure that we're
- 7:50Speaker 5: following the picks all year long.
- 7:53Speaker 1: But we deliver a great product.
- 7:55Speaker 5: You got to deliver a great box. I'd like to
- 7:57Speaker 5: think Week zero Futures Picks went very well. Yes, I
- 8:01Speaker 5: think everybody was dialed in. Everybody was locked in. Clay
- 8:04Speaker 5: Matthews came in with an absolute bang on the NFL
- 8:06Speaker 5: locker room. Josh Pate Encyclopedia guy is incredible. Any team
- 8:11Speaker 5: you want to talk about, I can just say a
- 8:13Speaker 5: team to him. He's gonna start rattling off transfers, transfers in,
- 8:17Speaker 5: transfers out. Oh see, changes DC changes, how the school looks,
- 8:21Speaker 5: the vibe, the culture, everything. Josh Pat's that guy.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Don't sleep on yourself. Now, you say Taylor one Arizona
- 8:26Speaker 1: State go you know everything about her? I am.
- 8:28Speaker 5: I did, But I'm more of like a I'm like
- 8:31Speaker 5: a I can sprinkle on a certain teams here and there.
- 8:34Speaker 5: I'm not as widely versed as Josh paid is.
- 8:38Speaker 1: That's why we got we.
- 8:39Speaker 5: Got him on because I know when it comes to
- 8:40Speaker 5: Nebraska football, you have an idea of what's going on
- 8:43Speaker 5: around there. Yes, you have an idea. Speaking of Nebraska football,
- 8:47Speaker 5: Speaking of podcasts, Matt Ruhle House Rules first episode just
- 8:52Speaker 5: came out. I watched ten fifteen minutes of it. I
- 8:54Speaker 5: want to know what you think.
- 8:56Speaker 1: Time out. I've got a place to Here's what its
- 8:58Speaker 1: Future's Day, It's futures. Also, Nebraska right now is plus
- 9:01Speaker 1: three twenty if you want to go ten plus wins
- 9:04Speaker 1: on the season.
- 9:05Speaker 8: People, we saw this was week zero of college football
- 9:09Speaker 8: on Future's Day. This was a past bet, present bet.
- 9:12Speaker 8: But we know there's a little bit of a Will
- 9:14Speaker 8: Compton curse out there. Sometime he goes on bad betting streaks.
- 9:17Speaker 8: And I couldn't help but be watching the Kansas State game.
- 9:20Speaker 8: Open up Twitter and he places a live bet and
- 9:23Speaker 8: he says, now.
- 9:23Speaker 9: We push money line. Kansas State doesn't hit. It was
- 9:29Speaker 9: so week zero.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Iowa State scores, so we're down, Kansas State's down ten,
- 9:35Speaker 1: and I'm looking like, okay, do I hedge? Here do
- 9:38Speaker 1: I go? You know, Kansas State to cover? I think
- 9:41Speaker 1: it was sitting around nine and a half. But the
- 9:42Speaker 1: odds just weren't tickling my pickle the way I wanted
- 9:44Speaker 1: it to jp and I just saw Kansas State plus
- 9:48Speaker 1: one thousand. It was a plus a thousand or ten
- 9:51Speaker 1: thous it was plus one thousand plus one thousand. And
- 9:54Speaker 1: you know, okay, am I gonna chase with mind stign
- 9:56Speaker 1: and have to cover like twot whatever my unit is?
- 9:58Speaker 1: Two fifty five hundred is kind of my unit range?
- 10:01Speaker 1: Or do I just take fifty and sprinkle the money
- 10:04Speaker 1: line on Kansas State? Right? And what do you know?
- 10:06Speaker 1: I pounded and they bomb sure when they get the ball,
- 10:11Speaker 1: and I'm like, oh my god, I might be a
- 10:13Speaker 1: fucking genius right now. And you know, Kansas State ended
- 10:16Speaker 1: up losing the ball game.
- 10:18Speaker 5: Now, in the Locker Room College Football Edition, you said
- 10:20Speaker 5: Kansas State is going to win the Big Twelve? Does
- 10:22Speaker 5: your opinion change it a lot? Watching?
- 10:25Speaker 1: I think the Big Twelve is so wide open. It's
- 10:27Speaker 1: a long season. And that does you sit there? You
- 10:29Speaker 1: look at Iowa State, you see, uh is it rock though?
- 10:34Speaker 5: Which coach cam fell with him?
- 10:37Speaker 1: Coach Campbell? They can run the ball? Well, that little
- 10:40Speaker 1: white boy in the backfield now he was he was talking.
- 10:42Speaker 5: Nothing gets you more rocked up than a white boy
- 10:44Speaker 5: tot in the rock.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Yeah, but they can run the ball a little bit.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Kansas State's got to figure out who they want to be. Like,
- 10:49Speaker 1: it's like, Avery Johnson has this ceiling and everybody wants
- 10:52Speaker 1: him to touch this ceiling. But after watching that performance,
- 10:54Speaker 1: the grace I give him is just that the elements
- 10:56Speaker 1: in the environment. There's a wet ball field, you're going
- 10:58Speaker 1: to Ireland, you're doing all these things. But the way
- 11:02Speaker 1: he handled handled himself in a couple couple of pressure situations,
- 11:05Speaker 1: it's like, are we just gonna get the same guy,
- 11:07Speaker 1: because if it's the same guy, you're gonna be looking
- 11:09Speaker 1: at a four lost season again, four or five, you're
- 11:12Speaker 1: gonna get that floor with the coach climbing every time.
- 11:14Speaker 1: He's a culture guy. They him going through the air.
- 11:17Speaker 1: You just gotta build it. In the run game, you
- 11:19Speaker 1: gotta lean on him. You gotta lean on him. I'll
- 11:22Speaker 1: give you an example. It was like, and also drop
- 11:24Speaker 1: balls everywhere week zero. You gotta assume there's gonna be
- 11:27Speaker 1: bad football being played.
- 11:28Speaker 9: A lot off the field stuff too, a lot off
- 11:30Speaker 9: the field.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, we'll get to the We'll get to the
- 11:33Speaker 1: Johnson scuffle, the Johnson coffee.
- 11:36Speaker 5: Date, Johnson and Johnson scuffle.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Yeah, the Johnson and Johnson scuffle after the game. But
- 11:42Speaker 1: there was one where it's like I always State pressured
- 11:44Speaker 1: them and they're running to zero blitz. Offensive line did
- 11:47Speaker 1: a poor job picking it up, but somebody came screaming
- 11:49Speaker 1: right down the middle. There's a dude, you know, wide
- 11:52Speaker 1: open on that slot. He doesn't or Johnson aver he
- 11:56Speaker 1: doesn't see it, and he gets an intentional grounding penalty.
- 11:59Speaker 1: To me, it's like those cool, calm poise quarterbacks that
- 12:02Speaker 1: are tapping into their ceiling in college football. They're gonna
- 12:05Speaker 1: know what to do with the ball if they see
- 12:07Speaker 1: the offensive line break down in front of them. They're
- 12:09Speaker 1: obviously they see pressures coming. You're assuming nobody's gonna come
- 12:12Speaker 1: Scott Free up the middle. I think the offensive line
- 12:15Speaker 1: had a brain fart there, but the quarterback usually knows
- 12:18Speaker 1: what to do when they are absolutely dialed the fuck in. Yeah,
- 12:22Speaker 1: they won't be you know, falling back, getting not to
- 12:25Speaker 1: the line of scrimmage and getting a grounding penalty. In
- 12:28Speaker 1: my opinion, yeah, I think seeing his head on a swivel,
- 12:31Speaker 1: it's like those moments right there. And there's also drop balls,
- 12:34Speaker 1: Like there's this cat I think his last name is
- 12:35Speaker 1: it Bradley, number five. It's like a fourth and seven,
- 12:39Speaker 1: fourth and eight guys wide open. He drops the ball,
- 12:42Speaker 1: no doubt, but they were not hitting the pantic buttons specifically.
- 12:44Speaker 5: Talking about that that play where Avery Johnson will kind
- 12:48Speaker 5: of screwed it over to the right a little bit,
- 12:49Speaker 5: didn't get it past the line of scrimmage, get an
- 12:51Speaker 5: intentional ground and call on the fourth and whatever. Avery
- 12:54Speaker 5: Johnson shows flashes of like amazing athletic ability. He can
- 12:57Speaker 5: run the ball really well in his career. He's got
- 13:00Speaker 5: he got some savviness on the east west category. But
- 13:03Speaker 5: when I look at him throw the football one his
- 13:05Speaker 5: motion doesn't. I mean, I'm not a quarterback coach. You
- 13:07Speaker 5: guys see me throw a ball. I'm not the greatest,
- 13:09Speaker 5: Like I don't have the greatest arm motion in the world.
- 13:11Speaker 5: We know, but if I'm watching a D one quarterback,
- 13:14Speaker 5: his release looks a little different to me. And he
- 13:17Speaker 5: has cats. This is after the weather subsides in the
- 13:19Speaker 5: first and second quarter. This is now you know, the
- 13:21Speaker 5: game is officially like people are getting into a groove
- 13:24Speaker 5: of the game. I'm watching Avery Johnson, I'm watching Rock
- 13:26Speaker 5: go beck I'm seeing Rock go becked. At one point,
- 13:29Speaker 5: he is five for twelve in completion. In his completions, however,
- 13:35Speaker 5: I saw four or five drops that were like right
- 13:38Speaker 5: in the bread basket, right in the hands where it's like,
- 13:40Speaker 5: especially when you could have in the film and it's
- 13:42Speaker 5: like the coach is there and he's like, our quarterback
- 13:44Speaker 5: can't give you a better ball. You have to come
- 13:46Speaker 5: down with this. That was in the first quarter and
- 13:48Speaker 5: a half. Avery. When I watch him, he had a
- 13:51Speaker 5: guy on an out, you know, not necessarily a routine play,
- 13:54Speaker 5: but a lot of separation. He's sailing that thing where
- 13:57Speaker 5: it's an un catchable ball for both of them. I
- 13:58Speaker 5: saw Avery kind of flinch a little bit when it
- 14:01Speaker 5: comes to putting the ball in the places you need
- 14:04Speaker 5: to be if you want to be a bag twelve champion,
- 14:06Speaker 5: if you want to be the school that's going through
- 14:07Speaker 5: the next step, not have the floor because you're gonna
- 14:09Speaker 5: lean on your culture of having four or five losses.
- 14:12Speaker 5: I didn't love that. I give grace because you're in Ireland,
- 14:15Speaker 5: the weather's bad. Anytime you go, you know, over to
- 14:19Speaker 5: Europe or the other side of the world, everyone's always bitching,
- 14:22Speaker 5: complaining about the field. You see that with the receivers,
- 14:24Speaker 5: they're slipping and sliding everywhere. But I like when I
- 14:28Speaker 5: walk away from that game, I look at Iowa State's
- 14:30Speaker 5: offensive line, I go, they've got a lot of holes.
- 14:32Speaker 5: They've got a lot of issues going on there. But
- 14:34Speaker 5: I look at rock O Beckt. He seems very decisive.
- 14:37Speaker 5: He gets the ball out really fast. He puts the
- 14:39Speaker 5: ball in a good place for guys to be successful.
- 14:41Speaker 5: I see Avery Johnson in that zero blitz, he with
- 14:45Speaker 5: all the athletic body in the world, kind of gets
- 14:46Speaker 5: scared and just just kind of muffins one over in
- 14:49Speaker 5: the right side. Avery, I think he needs to take
- 14:51Speaker 5: a look in the mirror a little bit. While if
- 14:53Speaker 5: you're an Iowa State fan, you're like, yeah, we have
- 14:55Speaker 5: obvious holes in certain areas, but I like our quarterback
- 14:58Speaker 5: and he's gonna give us a chance to win every
- 14:59Speaker 5: single time. Because once the run game started to get
- 15:02Speaker 5: going a little bit. You see the offensive line. They're
- 15:04Speaker 5: a little undersized, They're not the most athletic group in
- 15:06Speaker 5: the world. They were giving up some pressures, especially early
- 15:08Speaker 5: in the game versus that defensive line. But your quarterback, buddy,
- 15:12Speaker 5: I'm telling you, you got a little something, you little
- 15:14Speaker 5: creative with some bubble, some movement, stuff like that, he's
- 15:16Speaker 5: gonna put the ball where you wanted to. I don't
- 15:18Speaker 5: feel that way with Avery after this week, but you.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Got through the run game with Avery like Avery gives
- 15:23Speaker 1: me a feeling of like a I don't want to
- 15:26Speaker 1: come off as a shot in any type of way.
- 15:28Speaker 1: It's just warm my brain. His dad like like a
- 15:31Speaker 1: poor man. It's like a style of Taylor Martinez where
- 15:34Speaker 1: you can run the ball really.
- 15:35Speaker 5: Well, what like twenty twelve reference, Yeah.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Taylor Martinez. Yeah, but he was a monster.
- 15:40Speaker 5: Oh no, no, he was a study.
- 15:41Speaker 1: But yeah, ceiling awkward, you know, our motion, all that
- 15:44Speaker 1: kind of stuff. But you build it through the run
- 15:46Speaker 1: game with Avery Johnson more than you would obviously. The
- 15:48Speaker 1: opposing quarterback is rockebec Yeah. I just think I'm not
- 15:52Speaker 1: pushing the painted button on Kansas State. It's a lot
- 15:54Speaker 1: of that where they're going to get back over back
- 15:55Speaker 1: across the pond, and it's going to be a lot
- 15:57Speaker 1: of just playing team football.
- 15:58Speaker 5: And you, of all people should know with your team
- 16:00Speaker 5: weak zero doesn't count. Foreign soil, it doesn't count.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Doesn't mean it still haunts me.
- 16:06Speaker 5: I'm just looking at Iowa State and if I'm Aloway state,
- 16:08Speaker 5: I feel really good about my quarterbacks performance. I think
- 16:11Speaker 5: percentage wise, he was actually below fifty percent. But if
- 16:14Speaker 5: you watch the game, you're like, Okay, there's a lot
- 16:18Speaker 5: of dropballs there. There's a lot of Week zero, no
- 16:20Speaker 5: preseason guys feeling out and the weather.
- 16:23Speaker 1: I wonder what made Johnson and Johnson get into the scuffle,
- 16:26Speaker 1: like we're probably this conversation.
- 16:27Speaker 5: It's probably this conversation where the dad is feeling some
- 16:30Speaker 5: type of way he thinks his son is going to
- 16:32Speaker 5: be a first round pick when the season's over. A
- 16:33Speaker 5: lot of people are talking.
- 16:34Speaker 1: About the fact that they're on the ground fighting.
- 16:35Speaker 5: Which is just crazy. In a puddle too, They're just
- 16:38Speaker 5: fighting in a puddle.
- 16:39Speaker 1: It just means war in Ireland.
- 16:43Speaker 10: In Ireland, like I think, I think that's to me, Yeah,
- 16:47Speaker 10: that's just another to me, this is nothing to look at.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Yeah, this is a this is a getting the coffee
- 16:55Speaker 1: in Ireland. This is what happens. This is nothing even
- 16:58Speaker 1: to look at. I saw that they posted in all
- 17:00Speaker 1: we won't let it happen again. It means more to
- 17:03Speaker 1: this family. This family takes as their football very seriously.
- 17:05Speaker 5: One though I don't know which one's which.
- 17:09Speaker 9: Low key. I think dad had top control.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Dad had top is that dad who had top control?
- 17:14Speaker 1: All right?
- 17:15Speaker 9: All right on a great, great dub for the dad
- 17:17Speaker 9: if he was the winner.
- 17:19Speaker 1: What the stuff that I've heard in the college football world.
- 17:22Speaker 1: I saw that video. I saw that fight, and it
- 17:24Speaker 1: didn't come off surprising to me, because you know, you
- 17:26Speaker 1: got the you got the dad who's very involved with
- 17:29Speaker 1: the son who happens to be the starting quarterback in
- 17:31Speaker 1: Kansas State with a high ceiling. So when I saw
- 17:33Speaker 1: this video, I wasn't too surprised. I had a good laugh,
- 17:36Speaker 1: and it's like, hey, keep it moving.
- 17:38Speaker 5: Yeah, gotta know what's to set them off? Your city?
- 17:43Speaker 5: This is this is this is a family issue. Family
- 17:45Speaker 5: decide to handle stuff in public a little bit. Take
- 17:47Speaker 5: the cameras away, let him handle their business. Let's move
- 17:49Speaker 5: on and move forward. Let's get on out of here.
- 17:51Speaker 5: That's all it is.
- 17:52Speaker 8: I like to picture it the the brother, younger brother
- 17:55Speaker 8: was like saying like avery sucks or whatever, and the
- 17:58Speaker 8: dad was like, you're at to even.
- 18:00Speaker 9: Play college football?
- 18:02Speaker 2: Shut up?
- 18:02Speaker 9: And then they start fighting. Yeah, that's how I picture
- 18:04Speaker 9: it going down.
- 18:05Speaker 1: You know, Dad's at home right now, everybody's asking about
- 18:07Speaker 1: family fights right all the time. That's all that was.
- 18:11Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, thor and soil doesn't count anything you do
- 18:13Speaker 5: over there. It doesn't matter what do you do in
- 18:15Speaker 5: the continents of the United States or Hawaii where Stanford lost.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Yeah, they're having they're having.
- 18:20Speaker 5: The Stanford loses to Hawaii, bro, which is just when
- 18:24Speaker 5: are they going to come out of the gutter? Man,
- 18:26Speaker 5: When are they gonna get back to the harball area
- 18:28Speaker 5: where they're in, you know, forty six personnel, they have
- 18:31Speaker 5: all offensive linemen on the field in one running back
- 18:33Speaker 5: and they're just gonna shove it down your throat because
- 18:35Speaker 5: they just can't. They just can't fucking get it done.
- 18:38Speaker 5: You even have Andrew Luck who retired early, who is
- 18:41Speaker 5: a generational talent, your GM, and we just can't figure
- 18:44Speaker 5: it out.
- 18:44Speaker 1: And I hope they win just because Andrew Luck's there. Yeah, same,
- 18:47Speaker 1: But I don't really watch it. They Stanford football, I.
- 18:50Speaker 5: Mean, no doubt, they've got to have the worst schedule.
- 18:53Speaker 5: Every year, they fly to Hawaii, get have to six
- 18:56Speaker 5: hour fight from Stanford, they fly back, and then they
- 18:58Speaker 5: got to play five or six games on the East
- 19:00Speaker 5: Coast because of the acc We're setting these boys up
- 19:03Speaker 5: for failure you can't give them.
- 19:05Speaker 1: And a school that's.
- 19:06Speaker 5: Known for being so smart, what are we fucking doing?
- 19:10Speaker 5: What are we doing?
- 19:11Speaker 1: They're racking up the rewards points. Right here's what you do.
- 19:14Speaker 5: Fly to the East coast, get yourself a high school
- 19:17Speaker 5: football facility, zoom online classes, fix your program. Right there.
- 19:21Speaker 5: You just got you two more dubs in the season,
- 19:23Speaker 5: probably because we're not dealing with so much damn jet lag,
- 19:26Speaker 5: you know. Yeah, right, wind up this episode to bring
- 19:29Speaker 5: you Neutral. Have you tried Neutral? If not, you're missing out.
- 19:32Speaker 5: Neutral is so much better than any other seltzer I've tried.
- 19:34Speaker 5: It's made with a real vodka and real juice. That's
- 19:36Speaker 5: what makes it delicious. Neutral comes in a variety of flavors.
- 19:39Speaker 5: I've told you before. I'll tell you again, my fair
- 19:41Speaker 5: of flavors pineapple and lime. Neutral is a perfect drink
- 19:44Speaker 5: to brain when you're hanging with friends, and it is
- 19:46Speaker 5: such a crowd pleaser. Neutral, Keep it tasty.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Back to this episode, a team that looks solid and
- 19:52Speaker 1: don't know how good. Fresno stated, it seems like they
- 19:54Speaker 1: are asked, but Kansas look pretty good.
- 19:56Speaker 5: Yeah, I think presdo stage just asked? I mean I
- 20:00Speaker 5: to be honest. To be honest, I didn't really watch
- 20:02Speaker 5: the game, so that was kind of like that was
- 20:04Speaker 5: a floater. I just put that in the wind right there.
- 20:06Speaker 5: I probably shouldn't have no disrespect for the one of
- 20:08Speaker 5: the Jayhawks. I my brain sees basketball, that's all I'll say.
- 20:15Speaker 5: Show me, don't tell me.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Yeah, Jalen Daniels is he Yeah, he is a dog
- 20:19Speaker 1: for Kansas. It's truly all about him being healthy because
- 20:22Speaker 1: he's built again, not trying to take a shot at
- 20:24Speaker 1: the kids. Built a little lean, built a little frail,
- 20:27Speaker 1: hell of an athlete. But he's been on the injury
- 20:30Speaker 1: report several times from Kansas. Because you listen to uh Peyton,
- 20:34Speaker 1: you listen all the college football heads talk about it
- 20:35Speaker 1: like Kansas or Kansas could be a competitor in the
- 20:38Speaker 1: Big twelve, but it truly all depends on the quarterback.
- 20:42Speaker 1: Jalen Daniels Big Week, Man Bag Week. You were asking
- 20:46Speaker 1: about coach Rule in his podcast.
- 20:48Speaker 5: Yeah, I was. I want to know how you felt
- 20:50Speaker 5: about Matt Rule ten days before the kickoff of their
- 20:55Speaker 5: football seasons, has a podcast that comes out. I saw
- 20:59Speaker 5: the intro. He's got a lot of questions too. I
- 21:02Speaker 5: understand that he's in the building. I love Matt Yeah,
- 21:07Speaker 5: I love Nebraska football. Are we getting distracted? We had
- 21:12Speaker 5: the photo shoot a couple of months ago, we had
- 21:14Speaker 5: a podcast. Now I have no doubt year three Matt
- 21:18Speaker 5: rule is going to show up this year. That's not
- 21:20Speaker 5: going to be the issue. What's too much though, And
- 21:23Speaker 5: I'm not saying I'm in it or out of it.
- 21:25Speaker 5: I'm just worried about distractions. I know my boy's been
- 21:28Speaker 5: hurting for the good part of a decade, and I
- 21:32Speaker 5: just want everyone to be focused on your mental health.
- 21:36Speaker 5: And when I see the podcast, I get worried that
- 21:38Speaker 5: maybe we're not one hundred percent focused on well conference
- 21:40Speaker 5: mental health in Nebraska.
- 21:42Speaker 1: He doesn't need to be focused on my mental health.
- 21:44Speaker 1: I love the podcast. I think you know, he's a
- 21:46Speaker 1: pioneer in the space man.
- 21:48Speaker 2: He uh.
- 21:49Speaker 1: When he was talking about doing it, I was like, bro,
- 21:50Speaker 1: I think it's a great idea. You get an inside
- 21:53Speaker 1: looking everything going on with Nebraska. And again, he's got
- 21:55Speaker 1: a lot of questions. He wants to have a podcast.
- 21:57Speaker 1: Let me ask you, when we started our poto, would
- 22:00Speaker 1: you say that you were distracted? I would say no,
- 22:04Speaker 1: But I like, would you say you lost focus, You're
- 22:06Speaker 1: not focused on the task at hand.
- 22:08Speaker 5: No, it's a bad argument. But I understand what you're saying.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Why is it a bad argument?
- 22:12Speaker 5: Because I was a left tackle for a team, one
- 22:15Speaker 5: of eleven guys in the field at one time, knowing
- 22:18Speaker 5: my job, my circumstances, and basically evaluating the players that
- 22:22Speaker 5: I'm playing against and the scheme I'm playing against. This
- 22:24Speaker 5: is a head coach football team, who's managing recruiting guys,
- 22:28Speaker 5: who's managing transfer portals, who's managing quarterbacks who want more money,
- 22:31Speaker 5: receivers that they're bringing in to help their quarterback out.
- 22:33Speaker 5: Now they have to worry about their offense. Hogerson's doing
- 22:35Speaker 5: his thing. Well, how's our defense going to be this year?
- 22:37Speaker 5: We lost two guys in the middle that were like,
- 22:39Speaker 5: how do we replace that? So there's a lot more
- 22:41Speaker 5: on a head coach's plate than there is on a
- 22:42Speaker 5: left tackle plate. I'm not saying this is a bad thing.
- 22:46Speaker 5: I'm just worried distraction. Yeah, And it's only and Matt
- 22:50Speaker 5: said it in his podcast, there's only so many hours
- 22:52Speaker 5: in the day. There's only so many hours in the day.
- 22:54Speaker 5: There's only so much time you can focus on football
- 22:56Speaker 5: before you need to, you know, spread your wings into
- 22:58Speaker 5: your other stuff, invest in other things in your life.
- 23:00Speaker 5: So I'm with you on if you want to take
- 23:02Speaker 5: an hour out of your week and do a podcast,
- 23:04Speaker 5: sit there. I love that he's standing by the way.
- 23:05Speaker 5: Great for the body. I think that's awesome. I think
- 23:09Speaker 5: I think it's great. I just it's so new, right,
- 23:12Speaker 5: It's so it's very new.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Feels uncomfortable, feel uncompany. Is It's like when you come
- 23:16Speaker 1: to it, Hey, when you when you drop the first episode,
- 23:18Speaker 1: just be ready for the external noise, because it's going
- 23:19Speaker 1: to be there, especially if you don't win. The external
- 23:21Speaker 1: noise is going to be there. But you answered, you know,
- 23:23Speaker 1: you answered the question the same way when you were
- 23:25Speaker 1: coming on and doing bust on the boys. Is you
- 23:27Speaker 1: understand what your capacity is. I trust that he knows
- 23:30Speaker 1: what his capacity is. If he's taking an hour, hour
- 23:33Speaker 1: and a half to do a podcast, I'm sure there's
- 23:35Speaker 1: a lot of episodes that are already banked, then it's like,
- 23:37Speaker 1: you know, he's doing his thing.
- 23:39Speaker 5: I just hope that, uh, if the season doesn't go
- 23:41Speaker 5: the way that we expected to go with Nebraska, I
- 23:44Speaker 5: hope he just keeps doing it. I don't want it
- 23:47Speaker 5: to be a week where it's like, we're not going
- 23:48Speaker 5: to do it this week and then give an excuse
- 23:50Speaker 5: for it. That's a bad look. You got to you
- 23:52Speaker 5: gotta punch through no matter what. Similar to our first
- 23:54Speaker 5: year doing the podcast, right we start tune four, I'm suspended,
- 23:57Speaker 5: the whole world's burning into the ground, and we just
- 23:59Speaker 5: kept on going and it's like, you don't you want
- 24:01Speaker 5: you don't want to, but worst case scenario, you gotta
- 24:03Speaker 5: keep doing it, Matt, Yeah, gotta keep doing it throughout
- 24:06Speaker 5: the season, you.
- 24:07Speaker 10: Know, and will goes on though that episode is gonna
- 24:08Speaker 10: go crazy.
- 24:11Speaker 1: It'll be after the season when we you know, you
- 24:14Speaker 1: should do it, you should do it.
- 24:16Speaker 5: Bust and Bull week.
- 24:17Speaker 1: No, No, he's got He's again after the season, because
- 24:21Speaker 1: I'm sure he's got a lot of episodes that are
- 24:22Speaker 1: already backlog like that's not no, that's not the right time.
- 24:26Speaker 1: Timing is everything, and the timing for that banger will
- 24:30Speaker 1: be postseason when we ten plus wins ten.
- 24:34Speaker 10: Plus maybe like super Bowl week. He's got like a
- 24:38Speaker 10: setup at media row.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Yeah, all the haters that they're waiting for a little
- 24:41Speaker 1: drop and then the point to hey, this is a distraction.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Yeahda YadA, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.
- 24:45Speaker 5: The white noise. Yeah, it's a bunch of bullshit. I'm
- 24:48Speaker 5: just I was playing. I'm playing a little Devil's advocate
- 24:51Speaker 5: for you. I want, I want Nebraska to be Nebraska
- 24:54Speaker 5: for your sake. I can't see you go through it again, Taylor.
- 24:57Speaker 1: This is not we feel good. Listen, I am, I'm
- 25:00Speaker 1: It's football week. We're finally here since Cincinnati Cincinnati Week one,
- 25:04Speaker 1: Cincinnati Bearcats home game. Yeah. And Dana.
- 25:10Speaker 5: JP, isn't he understands Yeah, he absolutely understands.
- 25:13Speaker 2: Two.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Matt Matt Rule, Year three. Yeah, got a bunch of hogs.
- 25:16Speaker 5: Everything, everything's going your way. Everything's going your way.
- 25:20Speaker 1: Yet it feels good.
- 25:22Speaker 5: Everything set up to go every good right now, the
- 25:24Speaker 5: year three Matt Rule quarterback in year two, went to
- 25:28Speaker 5: the transfer portal. Got yourself a couple of wide receivers
- 25:30Speaker 5: to help out that offense a little bit, spicy defense,
- 25:34Speaker 5: hogs in the middle.
- 25:35Speaker 1: I'm with you, Yeah, I'm with you. Some youth on defense.
- 25:38Speaker 1: I'm excited to see the black Shirts run around out there.
- 25:41Speaker 5: Yeah. Other news, Brice Underwood is now the starter for
- 25:45Speaker 5: the University of Michigan golf up him.
- 25:48Speaker 1: I'm excited to watch right underwood Man. He looks like
- 25:51Speaker 1: an alien in a uniform.
- 25:53Speaker 5: He looks like an alien. The one practice we got
- 25:56Speaker 5: to saw, I think we all walked away impressed, like, Okay,
- 25:58Speaker 5: maybe this kid is who people of saying he is.
- 26:01Speaker 5: He had the one hiccup against Nico Shadow, our intern
- 26:03Speaker 5: Nico who uh what's his middle that's his last name? Ghetto? Yeah,
- 26:09Speaker 5: Andrew Ghetto Italian as fucking gets yeah, quick release. The
- 26:16Speaker 5: question mark going this is you get Mikey Keane from
- 26:18Speaker 5: Fresno State, you bring him in do you let Mikey
- 26:20Speaker 5: King take over while his kids kind of learning a
- 26:22Speaker 5: little bit unless you see something that's like, this guy's
- 26:24Speaker 5: got to be our starter right here, right now. I
- 26:27Speaker 5: think it's a good move long term for the University
- 26:29Speaker 5: of Michigan. You bring back a lot of stars in
- 26:30Speaker 5: the offensive line, a lot of things coming out of
- 26:32Speaker 5: that camp saying the offense line's gotten a whole lot
- 26:34Speaker 5: better from last year. At they ended the season really well,
- 26:36Speaker 5: much better than run game, much better protection. I'm excited
- 26:39Speaker 5: to see him New Mexico, but more than anything, I'm
- 26:42Speaker 5: excited to see that that Week two in Oklahoma.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I think Bryce Underwood's you brought him there to
- 26:47Speaker 1: be the future for the next however many years of Michigan.
- 26:49Speaker 1: If you throw him in the fire, if he's got
- 26:51Speaker 1: any type of ability that you recruited him for. I
- 26:53Speaker 1: don't like the juggling quarterbacks. I don't think you start
- 26:56Speaker 1: another cat. Let him get you know, let him feel
- 26:59Speaker 1: out the game. Dicks. I'm and you got Oklahoma on
- 27:00Speaker 1: week two, You're at Norman. Yeah, week two, I think
- 27:03Speaker 1: you just got to get him in. If he takes
- 27:04Speaker 1: his legs, he'll take him early. But he's going to
- 27:06Speaker 1: be a stud.
- 27:07Speaker 5: He's gonna be He's going to be a stud.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:08Speaker 5: The whole the phrase, if you got two quarterbacks, you
- 27:10Speaker 5: got zero quarterbacks? Yeah, you gotta you gotta stick with
- 27:13Speaker 5: one guy and get this kid, you know, in the
- 27:16Speaker 5: fire immediately. A big ten ball. I agree, big ten
- 27:18Speaker 5: ball with an again.
- 27:19Speaker 1: This weekend New Mexico.
- 27:21Speaker 5: I think we're favored by thirty eight and a half points.
- 27:25Speaker 5: That's that's nuts. Probably yeah, I'll probably just take it
- 27:30Speaker 5: to you know, support the voice. But last years, last year,
- 27:33Speaker 5: Week one, we're sitting in uh ted was it? Texas Station?
- 27:38Speaker 5: Station Station Texas? A and m there's Notre Dame and
- 27:41Speaker 5: I'm sitting there on my phone watching I don't know
- 27:43Speaker 5: if it was Bowling Green or something, just being like,
- 27:45Speaker 5: we can't it might have been Fresno, that's it. That's
- 27:50Speaker 5: a I think that might have been who it was.
- 27:52Speaker 5: But I remember sitting there, well, this electric game is
- 27:55Speaker 5: going on on my phone thinking to myself, Oh fuck,
- 27:58Speaker 5: but yeah, big trouble half, yeah, yeah, but we still
- 28:01Speaker 5: didn't cover. Yeah, still didn't cover and it was shaky.
- 28:04Speaker 5: We couldn't throw the ball.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Very come out of that game with some question marks.
- 28:07Speaker 5: And then I think the next week or the week
- 28:09Speaker 5: after that, we're play Texas and we all walked in there.
- 28:12Speaker 5: We knew it was a bit of a uh sacrificial
- 28:15Speaker 5: lamb out for a huge feeling.
- 28:16Speaker 1: It's a huge year for Michigan, pivotalivot. I think it goes.
- 28:22Speaker 9: You gotta hire good Well, I won't go there.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Who's at the helm, They're like, this is a big
- 28:29Speaker 1: year for coach Moore?
- 28:30Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, this is a big year. I don't think
- 28:33Speaker 5: this is like a hot let's say, worst case scenario,
- 28:35Speaker 5: we hit the floor with Michigan. It's it's bad, it's
- 28:37Speaker 5: it's seven and five or whatever it is. I don't
- 28:40Speaker 5: think you're looking at Sean Moore and being like, we're
- 28:41Speaker 5: replacing him after this year.
- 28:43Speaker 9: Hire fast, fire faster, you think so.
- 28:46Speaker 5: I think the biggest thing that colleges run into issues
- 28:49Speaker 5: is like hiring or firing guys way too quickly. I'm
- 28:52Speaker 5: with you, Yeah, I think like I think Matt rules
- 28:55Speaker 5: should typically still be a.
- 28:57Speaker 1: Lot of successful business owners say is like high fast,
- 29:00Speaker 1: fire fast. Yeah.
- 29:01Speaker 5: I just think that.
- 29:02Speaker 1: I do think if you guys have a you mentioned
- 29:04Speaker 1: seven to five, you go seven to five. Your in
- 29:05Speaker 1: tennas do have.
- 29:06Speaker 5: To be your intennas go up for the next year. No,
- 29:08Speaker 5: there's no doubt about it. Yeah, well, you're you have
- 29:10Speaker 5: a really short leash going into the following season is
- 29:12Speaker 5: a favor. This is other you know, Yeah, Oklahoma, you
- 29:15Speaker 5: got Nebraska, and then it's pretty favorable after that until
- 29:19Speaker 5: you get into officely the last game of the year,
- 29:21Speaker 5: which you can kind of just mark up as a
- 29:22Speaker 5: win at this point the way they played the last
- 29:24Speaker 5: four years. But yeah, it'll be fun. It'll be a
- 29:27Speaker 5: fun year to watch. I think we're all excited for
- 29:29Speaker 5: our teams.
- 29:30Speaker 1: Big year, big season, just for busting in general. We
- 29:32Speaker 1: just had a Rearview Mirror, the very first episode of
- 29:35Speaker 1: Rearview Mirror. If you guys like some little documentary style content,
- 29:39Speaker 1: Rearview Mirror just dropped last night on Sunday, looking back
- 29:43Speaker 1: at our Donald Trump interview, everything that went around the
- 29:45Speaker 1: Donald Trump interview, how we ended up getting him as
- 29:48Speaker 1: a guest to lead up into him coming in the room,
- 29:50Speaker 1: everything around it with the Busting with the Bust and Boys, Taylor, myself, Delaney,
- 29:55Speaker 1: the Boys in the Back. Jared Beeman, a producer at
- 29:58Speaker 1: Bust with Jobbs, did an incredib edible job. This is
- 30:01Speaker 1: his brainchild, something he's been one to do for a
- 30:03Speaker 1: long time, and we didn't really we didn't give him
- 30:06Speaker 1: any guardrails. It was just hey, make whatever he's going
- 30:09Speaker 1: on in your mind.
- 30:10Speaker 5: Right, this is his idea, this is his baby. He
- 30:12Speaker 5: went out and did it showed I mean when he
- 30:14Speaker 5: was showing it to me, will Be was like seventy
- 30:16Speaker 5: five eighty percent done. That was blown away by the production.
- 30:19Speaker 1: First time I watched it was last night. Really yeah,
- 30:22Speaker 1: and I called him up and I said, bro, that
- 30:24Speaker 1: is incredible work.
- 30:26Speaker 5: Yeah, he absolutely killed it. So if you like that,
- 30:29Speaker 5: if you like the rearview Mirror. It's very it's a
- 30:31Speaker 5: very new thing.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Sit down, confessional corner type like, Yeah.
- 30:34Speaker 5: Jared came in and at the end of at the
- 30:37Speaker 5: end of the episode, he's like, if you like this,
- 30:39Speaker 5: blah blah blah, and I'm more just wondering, who do
- 30:42Speaker 5: you want to see next? Obviously there's a lot of
- 30:44Speaker 5: other big guests that we've had on If you're wondering,
- 30:46Speaker 5: but the backstory again and leave in the comments, who
- 30:48Speaker 5: do you want to see in the rearview mirror?
- 30:50Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, drop comments. That feedback is really going to
- 30:52Speaker 1: help Jared because I think he's saying the cadence might
- 30:54Speaker 1: be like once every three months and just focus on
- 30:57Speaker 1: a moment in busting lore and busting history. That was
- 30:59Speaker 1: pivot for us. I think I feel like there's a
- 31:02Speaker 1: lot of different ship. JP's got so much footage from
- 31:05Speaker 1: the vlogs.
- 31:06Speaker 8: Yeah, I think like a busting Bowl one would would
- 31:08Speaker 8: be cool.
- 31:09Speaker 1: Busting Bowl be awesome. You got the vrabel like when
- 31:12Speaker 1: we took off with Vrabels signing with Barstool, leaving Barstool
- 31:16Speaker 1: fan duel, Jeffrey.
- 31:20Speaker 5: Jeffrey Starr, Jelly Roll. I think just how he got
- 31:23Speaker 5: the folded us because we kind of just stumbled upon
- 31:26Speaker 5: Jelly like came out of his own way just to
- 31:28Speaker 5: come and meet us and be like, hey, I'm a fan.
- 31:30Speaker 5: If you guys won't want to come on your show.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Yeah, starting as just a podcast and expanding in the vlogs,
- 31:35Speaker 1: expanding into different shows and content. Yeah no, then taking
- 31:38Speaker 1: the camera inside locker room like yeah, I think there's
- 31:41Speaker 1: a lot of there's a lot of meat on the bones.
- 31:44Speaker 5: Yeah, it was. It was awesome with the production it
- 31:47Speaker 5: was he it was like it was like a Netflix
- 31:50Speaker 5: documentary the way we put together.
- 31:51Speaker 10: I saw one that was like, y'all think ninety six bulls,
- 31:56Speaker 10: Yes we are yeap.
- 31:58Speaker 1: The one that I like the most is the one.
- 32:00Speaker 1: And as like the top comment with all the thumbs
- 32:02Speaker 1: up stuff is them just saying, like, you know, tipping
- 32:06Speaker 1: the cap to the production like this is something that
- 32:08Speaker 1: could be on like Netflix or HBO style, because it
- 32:10Speaker 1: wasn't like the production of it was that good. Yeah,
- 32:13Speaker 1: Jared did a really good job. Jerry came up with
- 32:15Speaker 1: the quiet, Jerry came up with a lot of the ship.
- 32:16Speaker 1: He did it.
- 32:17Speaker 5: I think he did it all.
- 32:18Speaker 1: Yea, Yeah, I know he was he was talking about
- 32:19Speaker 1: He's sitting with JP on a lot of different stuff,
- 32:21Speaker 1: like going over different moments way to kind of build
- 32:24Speaker 1: the storyline out, ways to kind of like just look
- 32:26Speaker 1: back at that moment and how it all transpired. It
- 32:29Speaker 1: was the perfect length too, Yeah, it was like twenty three.
- 32:32Speaker 5: Minutes, good, easy, digestible. You kind of want to, like
- 32:35Speaker 5: just the intro of it all. You're like, I got
- 32:36Speaker 5: to see what this is all about.
- 32:38Speaker 1: Yeah, how it all kind of went down?
- 32:40Speaker 5: The music.
- 32:40Speaker 1: I thought he crushed it with the music.
- 32:43Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I'm sure the watch time on that
- 32:45Speaker 5: video is going to be insane because there's no way
- 32:47Speaker 5: you click on that and not want to stick around
- 32:49Speaker 5: and just see how everything turns out. Yeah, like you
- 32:51Speaker 5: know the end result, but like, how did it all happen?
- 32:53Speaker 10: You' all talking about the madding ratings?
- 32:55Speaker 1: Brow was so fa Yeah, and then JP having that, Yeah,
- 32:58Speaker 1: having that sit down talking we're about to.
- 33:00Speaker 5: Have farting in the chair is crazy, and dude, us
- 33:03Speaker 5: just getting being stir crazy. We're in there for six hours, Yeah,
- 33:06Speaker 5: just eventually like you had just a couple of wild dogs.
- 33:09Speaker 5: I just need to get out of there.
- 33:10Speaker 1: About to sit down with the now president of the
- 33:13Speaker 1: United States, and we're arguing about Madden ratings.
- 33:16Speaker 8: Everyone lying.
- 33:20Speaker 5: Delanna saying he was a ninety nine is insane, and.
- 33:23Speaker 8: Then I'm saying, oh, no, no way, I was injured
- 33:25Speaker 8: that year. That has nothing to do with your Mad
- 33:28Speaker 8: right at all?
- 33:29Speaker 1: Right, no I was.
- 33:31Speaker 5: I do feel disrespected still my Madden rings we went
- 33:33Speaker 5: back on a couple weeks ago.
- 33:34Speaker 1: Ya or eighty two?
- 33:37Speaker 9: Speed was high or acceleration.
- 33:39Speaker 5: Acceleration was nasty. I think people are the seventy five
- 33:42Speaker 5: wait up this episode to bring you Lucy. Let's loove
- 33:47Speaker 5: up your nickeod team routine with Lucy. Go to Lucy
- 33:50Speaker 5: dot Co. Forward slash busting and use promo code busting
- 33:53Speaker 5: BUSSI N to get twenty percent off your first order.
- 33:56Speaker 5: Lucy has a thirty d refund policy if you change
- 33:58Speaker 5: your mind again, it's Lucy dot Co and use code
- 34:02Speaker 5: bust and BUSSI N to get twenty percent off. Let's
- 34:06Speaker 5: get back to the episode.
- 34:08Speaker 1: I don't want to beat a dead horse, but do
- 34:09Speaker 1: we need to, like, this is the biggest show in
- 34:11Speaker 1: the bust and universe, do we need to touch on
- 34:13Speaker 1: the first pitch from last week? Yeah?
- 34:17Speaker 9: We can.
- 34:17Speaker 2: If you.
- 34:18Speaker 5: I mean we did talk about in the locker room
- 34:20Speaker 5: with Josh correct.
- 34:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 34:22Speaker 5: It listen. If I go into Saint Louis and throw
- 34:27Speaker 5: that pitch the first time, I think we all just
- 34:29Speaker 5: walk away like, hey, Willstrow was better, and we all
- 34:32Speaker 5: kind of giggle.
- 34:33Speaker 1: At the end of the day.
- 34:33Speaker 5: It's like, yeah, it's a first pitch. It went in
- 34:35Speaker 5: the direction you want to go because of Saint Louis,
- 34:39Speaker 5: how much work we put in, and then the result
- 34:42Speaker 5: we had where you have to essentially get off your
- 34:43Speaker 5: feet to go get the ball.
- 34:44Speaker 1: I jump that's vertical.
- 34:46Speaker 5: Well, because you had to jump in the air, It's like, yeah,
- 34:50Speaker 5: it's disappointing. It's a disappointing deal. I wish it was
- 34:55Speaker 5: just a laser right down the middle. There's things I'm
- 34:58Speaker 5: proud of. There's things I'm proud of. I didn't shy
- 34:59Speaker 5: away from the speed. I didn't shy away just just
- 35:02Speaker 5: to lob it in. But yeah, I think the moment
- 35:04Speaker 5: was so funny.
- 35:07Speaker 9: Did you see Frank the tanks pitch?
- 35:09Speaker 5: I didn't see it. I did see it. It was nice.
- 35:11Speaker 1: I did.
- 35:11Speaker 5: I also noticed that he was strike. He wasn't on
- 35:14Speaker 5: the he was he wasn't on the mound. He wasn't
- 35:16Speaker 5: on the mound.
- 35:16Speaker 1: You're right, if you throw that pitch, there's really nothing.
- 35:19Speaker 1: They get nothing.
- 35:20Speaker 5: The whold talk nothing.
- 35:20Speaker 1: But since Saint Louis, it's like the question raises, does
- 35:24Speaker 1: Taylor have this athletic ability in his bag?
- 35:26Speaker 9: And are you right handed?
- 35:28Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 35:28Speaker 5: I think it's really just turned into like is the
- 35:31Speaker 5: moment become too big for me? And that's it.
- 35:34Speaker 1: That's it.
- 35:34Speaker 5: That's a tough thing to look in the mirror and
- 35:35Speaker 5: ask yourself that question, like is the moment too big
- 35:38Speaker 5: for you?
- 35:38Speaker 8: Because in the vlog you did say Will said, are
- 35:40Speaker 8: you nervous? You said nervous for what we've been playing
- 35:42Speaker 8: in front of big crowds our whole life.
- 35:44Speaker 1: Yeah, was that a lie?
- 35:46Speaker 7: Uh?
- 35:46Speaker 5: I'm sure at the time when I said it. But
- 35:48Speaker 5: once you get in and the lights are on, you
- 35:50Speaker 5: have all fifteen people in that stadium, it's like, yo,
- 35:52Speaker 5: I got to operate now. Yeah, And you get out
- 35:55Speaker 5: there and I think we're playing catch in the outfield
- 35:57Speaker 5: and I get like four or five and or rather
- 35:59Speaker 5: kind of just squirrel away from me. Where Will has
- 36:00Speaker 5: to essentially be like, hey, you got to lock in
- 36:03Speaker 5: and then I, you know, I go and we we
- 36:05Speaker 5: shored it up.
- 36:06Speaker 1: Legit stood up and it was like, hey, bro, come yeah,
- 36:08Speaker 1: this is like.
- 36:09Speaker 5: I think I got. I think I that guy little
- 36:13Speaker 5: too early. I think I was in a good headspace
- 36:17Speaker 5: before we do the FanDuel TV where the guy had
- 36:20Speaker 5: one hundred, three hundred and fifty four saves career He starts, yeah, yeah,
- 36:23Speaker 5: career leader starts coaching me on like over the top,
- 36:27Speaker 5: and I said it so many times I should have
- 36:30Speaker 5: stuck with my guns. If Hayes in the barn, it's
- 36:32Speaker 5: like you put the work in, you know the way
- 36:34Speaker 5: you're throwing, and you kind of know what feels right.
- 36:37Speaker 5: But to try to change the directory right before that pitch,
- 36:39Speaker 5: I think that's what put me into a position that
- 36:41Speaker 5: I'm not proud of. I'm not proud like that that
- 36:44Speaker 5: checked the box, but it's not it's not the result.
- 36:47Speaker 5: It's not the the exclamation point you want at the
- 36:50Speaker 5: end of the story. Am I going to do another
- 36:52Speaker 5: first pitch? I think the answer has to be.
- 36:53Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, And like you said, we'll put it on
- 36:56Speaker 1: the show.
- 36:56Speaker 5: We put on the show. Right now, we have a
- 36:58Speaker 5: whole football season ahead of us. Let's get into let's
- 37:01Speaker 5: get into opening day, Let's get into the start of
- 37:03Speaker 5: the next next year's baseball season. Let's go throw a pitch.
- 37:06Speaker 1: You had a bad week last week.
- 37:08Speaker 5: No bad days, maybe bad weeks, though what happened last week?
- 37:11Speaker 1: Well, not only did you have a bad first pitch,
- 37:13Speaker 1: you also ran out of gas, right Jesus. Yeah.
- 37:16Speaker 5: And it's like, at what age is that just unacceptable?
- 37:19Speaker 5: I think the I think the answer is eighteen. I
- 37:22Speaker 5: think once you are a technically an adult in America,
- 37:24Speaker 5: it's time to make sure your gas is always good.
- 37:27Speaker 5: A couple of disclaimers. My gas gauge doesn't work, and
- 37:32Speaker 5: so I'm thinking to myself, I literally, no joke.
- 37:34Speaker 9: This is not only you could get it fixed.
- 37:36Speaker 5: No joke, dude. I'm leaving the Titans facility and I
- 37:39Speaker 5: see it. I'm like, I'm pretty sure I like filled
- 37:41Speaker 5: up that tank like six days ago, seven days ago.
- 37:43Speaker 5: Maybe I'm I think I'm all right. And as I'm
- 37:45Speaker 5: getting on, I think I'm at the last little bit,
- 37:47Speaker 5: like I'm a quarter mile from the exit from our shop.
- 37:50Speaker 5: All of a sudden, the gas that kind of goes
- 37:51Speaker 5: You're like, what the fuck is going on? And I
- 37:53Speaker 5: look on my I fucking ran out of gas. This
- 37:56Speaker 5: is crazy.
- 37:59Speaker 1: Let's talk about this truck. This truck needs to get
- 38:03Speaker 1: put down.
- 38:04Speaker 5: Bro cool looking truck, looking truck. I have the most
- 38:10Speaker 5: unrealistic expectation in my life of having old vehicles that
- 38:14Speaker 5: work and run every single day. That's that's whatever, for
- 38:18Speaker 5: whatever reason, a goal. Except for myself, it is never
- 38:22Speaker 5: going to come true. Every person I cross is like god, God,
- 38:25Speaker 5: this had that. It always fucking broke on me. And
- 38:27Speaker 5: I think I'm gonna be the guy that changes it,
- 38:30Speaker 5: changes the game. I rented a gas the car break. No,
- 38:33Speaker 5: the dumb idiot who driving the car, he's the one
- 38:35Speaker 5: that fucked up.
- 38:36Speaker 1: But then you say the gas gage is just not correct.
- 38:39Speaker 8: Or yeah, yeah, we were, we were talking about it.
- 38:42Speaker 1: He got more, he got more car problems.
- 38:45Speaker 8: We were talking about it, though, is and this isn't
- 38:47Speaker 8: like a shot, because when you do, when it happens
- 38:49Speaker 8: to you, it is like you feel this way. But
- 38:51Speaker 8: is running out of gas the dumbest thing you can do?
- 38:54Speaker 1: A thousand to be up there? I think I did
- 38:56Speaker 1: it twice in the year of twenty twenty four. Oh really, yeah,
- 39:01Speaker 1: you know that you're you're the one that would tell me, hey,
- 39:03Speaker 1: I never let my vehicle get below one hundred miles
- 39:05Speaker 1: right on the.
- 39:06Speaker 5: New vehicles because it, yeah, it pucks up your fuel pump.
- 39:08Speaker 5: I did say that to you, and look at me right, like,
- 39:11Speaker 5: take your own coaching. Yeah, take your own coaching and
- 39:13Speaker 5: room with it. I like that. My week was tough
- 39:17Speaker 5: last week. I like the week before the football season
- 39:20Speaker 5: starting having some some more downs than I did. Ups.
- 39:24Speaker 5: Now I get to get in the season, I feel
- 39:25Speaker 5: I can wipe it away. Woke up this morning, threw
- 39:28Speaker 5: a little stage on myself, burn it, sat there, cleansed myself.
- 39:32Speaker 5: Let's get moving forward. Let's get this football season with
- 39:34Speaker 5: good vibes. Yeah, it's good to get away from that. Yeah.
- 39:38Speaker 1: Yeah. And we were coming off of some just some
- 39:40Speaker 1: good interviews that people are going to get to listen to.
- 39:42Speaker 5: Damn Ward cam Ward cam.
- 39:45Speaker 1: Ard, Tyler Lockett. By the way, I was very impressed with.
- 39:48Speaker 9: That your Saturday partner right thereeah Yeah.
- 39:50Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, oh yeah. Just loving to sit sit at
- 39:54Speaker 5: the house all day long.
- 39:56Speaker 1: Yeah, bench some shows not say a word you got
- 39:59Speaker 1: you got this snack? How but I can get it
- 40:01Speaker 1: for you.
- 40:01Speaker 5: Yeah, Tyler does have that vibe or you don't. There's
- 40:03Speaker 5: really no expectation love TV, which is the best kind
- 40:05Speaker 5: of person. You just sit there and hang out. You
- 40:07Speaker 5: don't want to talk. I guess we're not talking today.
- 40:09Speaker 5: It's all good man, whatever's on the tube, we're gonna
- 40:11Speaker 5: let it happen.
- 40:12Speaker 1: Yeah, and then yeah, the Biscuit.
- 40:16Speaker 5: Give him that last gear call.
- 40:17Speaker 1: He's probably talking about it on the game the other
- 40:19Speaker 1: night when we're going. But uh, he felt it seemed
- 40:23Speaker 1: like he was nervous sitting there.
- 40:24Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I thought he was like shake. I thought
- 40:28Speaker 5: he the mic was shaking a little bit too. I
- 40:30Speaker 5: just think, you know, being a part of our group, chat,
- 40:34Speaker 5: our friendship, I think he sees how Bussin's kind of
- 40:37Speaker 5: like done, you know, gone up a little bit. He's
- 40:39Speaker 5: probably made it a little bit bigger in his head.
- 40:41Speaker 5: I think the Risks thing, I think that all everybody was,
- 40:43Speaker 5: everybody besides you and me was pretty blindsided about the chat.
- 40:46Speaker 1: I also think he's just a true war dog when
- 40:49Speaker 1: it comes to football, Like this dude is in fight
- 40:51Speaker 1: or flight, has been in fight or flight his entire career. Yeah,
- 40:54Speaker 1: making rosters, he's going into year nine, He's he survived,
- 40:57Speaker 1: He's he's had a career that he's proud.
- 41:00Speaker 5: Of survive in advance is his mantra.
- 41:02Speaker 1: Yeah, and he's sitting there, he's probably got all the
- 41:04Speaker 1: you know, whats coach is gonna think like, I'm not
- 41:05Speaker 1: trying to I'm not trying to write be a distraction.
- 41:07Speaker 1: I'm not trying to make it seem like, you know,
- 41:09Speaker 1: all these things. Like he his anxiety was probably just
- 41:12Speaker 1: through the roof, he says, a football guy, that's all ball,
- 41:14Speaker 1: eas sleep, breath ball.
- 41:15Speaker 5: When we go in this training camp tour, you can
- 41:17Speaker 5: tell the guys that are more vested vets, and some
- 41:21Speaker 5: guys were a little little more new. One guy that
- 41:23Speaker 5: would surprise me a little bit was Cam. Like he's
- 41:25Speaker 5: the first overall pick. There's a lot of eyeballs on
- 41:27Speaker 5: a lot of people watching every move he makes. Seemed
- 41:29Speaker 5: very relaxed, very comfortable in who he is as a person,
- 41:31Speaker 5: which I was a big fan of a big fan
- 41:34Speaker 5: of what that kid's gonna do. Obviously, the Titans, I
- 41:37Speaker 5: feel like we're gonna have a better year than last year.
- 41:40Speaker 1: But we need to tell you I think the national media,
- 41:43Speaker 1: the national football casual fan, is sleeping on the talent
- 41:46Speaker 1: that the Titans can put out there, not in a
- 41:49Speaker 1: way that they win the division, but I think that
- 41:51Speaker 1: they're spicy. I think that they can be spicy as
- 41:53Speaker 1: long as they stay healthy. In fact, they got an
- 41:56Speaker 1: O line that's humming a little bit better than either
- 41:57Speaker 1: obviously had a lot of money for you Off made
- 41:59Speaker 1: a lot of money for up, but cam he it
- 42:01Speaker 1: seems like everything he's been advertised. They got talent on
- 42:05Speaker 1: the outside. They're gonna have a good defense again.
- 42:08Speaker 5: That that's where I worry about that. I think I
- 42:10Speaker 5: think their back end, they have very little depth right
- 42:16Speaker 5: back the other corner. I think it's a little up
- 42:18Speaker 5: and down Hooker. I think Titan fans are back and
- 42:20Speaker 5: forth on Hooker a little bit about like is he
- 42:22Speaker 5: the guy? Is he's not the guy?
- 42:25Speaker 1: Well, last year they've played good enough to win a
- 42:27Speaker 1: lot of games. Yeah, linebacker's got stronger. You're you're you
- 42:32Speaker 1: need somebody to rush the quarterback? Yeah yeah, yea Ard
- 42:36Speaker 1: and Key you lost Harold Landry obviously, Jeff Simmons an
- 42:38Speaker 1: episoute monster to and Andre Sweat. He's solid. But it's
- 42:42Speaker 1: like who's your bed, because they'll cleft They're gonna colefs
- 42:47Speaker 1: the pocket, but they're gonna be taking up the doubles
- 42:48Speaker 1: and you need the guys in the one right on
- 42:50Speaker 1: the outside, right.
- 42:51Speaker 5: Yeah, And if you just have if you don't have
- 42:53Speaker 5: somebody that can put pressure on the outside of the
- 42:56Speaker 5: offensive line, that's gonna be very difficult because you can
- 42:58Speaker 5: put as much pressure up the mill as you want.
- 43:00Speaker 5: If you don't have somebody to clean up as this
- 43:01Speaker 5: quarterback scrambling out, you're gonna run into a lot of issues.
- 43:04Speaker 5: So I think they'll be better than were last year.
- 43:07Speaker 5: I think we're gonna see from cam Ward. We're gonna
- 43:09Speaker 5: see a guy that doesn't make the same mistake twice.
- 43:11Speaker 5: You're gonna see a guy that makes a couple of throws.
- 43:13Speaker 5: You're like, holy shit, he's the guy. But at the
- 43:14Speaker 5: end of the day, he's also a rookie. Like he's
- 43:17Speaker 5: a rookie, He's gonna make rookie mistakes. One thing that
- 43:20Speaker 5: I've learned that I've talked to a couple of people
- 43:22Speaker 5: inside that building is he's he's a guy that when
- 43:24Speaker 5: he makes that mistake, you don't see that mistake again,
- 43:26Speaker 5: which is huge, huge for the brand. Keeping him up right.
- 43:30Speaker 5: He doesn't seem like a guy that's gonna fall into
- 43:31Speaker 5: the tank if he doesn't have a couple of good weeks.
- 43:33Speaker 5: So future wise, I feel really good about it. This
- 43:36Speaker 5: year is one of those we'll see's big We'll see
- 43:39Speaker 5: this year.
- 43:40Speaker 10: Yeah, do you go get Trey hendricks from Cincy Hendrickson?
- 43:45Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean you could. I think they have the capital.
- 43:48Speaker 5: They do have the capital. It's a lot of money.
- 43:52Speaker 5: It's a lot of money. What year is Trey in?
- 43:56Speaker 1: Don't off the top?
- 43:57Speaker 7: Were talks, but Terry mca Orange just turned a three
- 44:00Speaker 7: year ninety six million.
- 44:02Speaker 5: Oh, let's go turn the corn. That's big for the Commanders, big.
- 44:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:08Speaker 5: I mean they get ready, they get read of their
- 44:09Speaker 5: running back. They trade their running back to the forty Niners. Yeah,
- 44:15Speaker 5: so good move for the Niners.
- 44:16Speaker 1: I feel like the Niners really got some some upside
- 44:18Speaker 1: with that because you just don't know the health of
- 44:20Speaker 1: who's the backup to Christian say they get mitched, Yes, Grinda,
- 44:27Speaker 1: both guys that were on the injury report a few
- 44:30Speaker 1: times last year. But I just think Brian Robinson's just
- 44:32Speaker 1: started stut may. They got they got good depth, yes,
- 44:35Speaker 1: very physical inside the tackles.
- 44:38Speaker 10: Because now you can put it now you can put
- 44:40Speaker 10: Christian like in that Deebo kind of spot, you know,
- 44:43Speaker 10: bounce him outside, put b Rob in.
- 44:45Speaker 1: The backfield right to where they're both, push them out
- 44:47Speaker 1: like Christian running underneath.
- 44:49Speaker 10: You got options. Yeah, Eckler, you got Eckler, but they
- 44:54Speaker 10: got they drafted somebody who they can.
- 44:57Speaker 1: You moved their depth chart, sure, command they went and
- 45:02Speaker 1: paid some money for Tunssel, right.
- 45:05Speaker 5: They Yeah, they traded.
- 45:08Speaker 9: Von Miller.
- 45:09Speaker 1: Yeah, but they listen von Miller the team.
- 45:12Speaker 5: Von Miller had six six sacks and fourteen games.
- 45:14Speaker 1: But for Washington, again the worst run defense in the NFL.
- 45:17Speaker 1: For them, it's just going to be stopping the run
- 45:19Speaker 1: if they're going to close the gap in the NFC.
- 45:23Speaker 5: They got Jeremy McNichols. Can't kill McNichols can't kill them boys.
- 45:29Speaker 1: Damn.
- 45:31Speaker 5: He might do a little something this year. Eckler, I
- 45:35Speaker 5: backfield savvy, smart, uh Deebo.
- 45:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:39Speaker 5: I think that Lammy Tunzel trade is going to be
- 45:41Speaker 5: massive for them. That is such a huge win for
- 45:44Speaker 5: the Commanders.
- 45:45Speaker 1: They got a McCaffrey, Luke McCaffrey. Yeah, kJ Osborne with
- 45:50Speaker 1: some death Commanders will be tough this year.
- 45:51Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean good for Terry. Also, I know there
- 45:54Speaker 5: was a lot of back and forth between the franchise
- 45:55Speaker 5: and him this offseason getting that big deal. That's big time. Yeah, yeah,
- 46:00Speaker 5: you got you gotta have that football. We're here, We're here,
- 46:05Speaker 5: it's here. Boys, gotta juicy.
- 46:07Speaker 1: What do you think is gonna happen with Michael Parsons
- 46:09Speaker 1: and the Cowboys?
- 46:11Speaker 5: You gotta trade them?
- 46:13Speaker 10: If y'all watch the Cowboys documentary.
- 46:14Speaker 1: I haven't watched the documentary, but I've been consuming because
- 46:17Speaker 1: Jerry Jones has been doing a little it's a little
- 46:19Speaker 1: pressed tour talking about the negotiations basically and just posturing
- 46:23Speaker 1: up letting him know. I mean, we got him for
- 46:25Speaker 1: three more years. I hope you guys keep talking about
- 46:27Speaker 1: much how great Michael Parsons is because we love him
- 46:29Speaker 1: here and if you guys can see the contract we
- 46:31Speaker 1: offered him. Basically, shitting on the agent of Michael Parsons
- 46:34Speaker 1: for stepping in the documentary is unreal. It's very very Yeah, buddy,
- 46:39Speaker 1: I can't wait to consume because it's all this is
- 46:43Speaker 1: like my time, so like learning about it. Yeah, it's sick. Yeah,
- 46:48Speaker 1: this was my squad until I got to Washington, Dallas,
- 46:52Speaker 1: Cowboys nineties. Yeah, it's it's very, very well done.
- 46:56Speaker 5: As soon as you want about Jerry Jones or how
- 46:58Speaker 5: he's operating, that star on the helmet is different.
- 47:00Speaker 1: I enjoy seeing him speak so much, like on the
- 47:04Speaker 1: topic of the negotiation with Michael Parsons, because I just
- 47:06Speaker 1: feel like Jerry Jones loves the game, he loves the
- 47:10Speaker 1: game of business, loves the Cowboys.
- 47:14Speaker 5: Yeah, you gotta have Michael Parsons on the field though,
- 47:17Speaker 5: And I feel like Mike, Mike is a prideful guy
- 47:19Speaker 5: that I'll be like, all right, fuck you, I'm not
- 47:20Speaker 5: playing then.
- 47:21Speaker 1: Yeah, which I think Jerry also kind of kind of enjoyed.
- 47:24Speaker 1: He likes, he likes he likes to see a little
- 47:26Speaker 1: bagbone from He likes to see a little song and dance.
- 47:29Speaker 10: They had the same situation with Emmitt Smith. Just learned
- 47:33Speaker 10: this in the documentary.
- 47:35Speaker 5: Really he was holding out as well.
- 47:37Speaker 1: He held at like two games.
- 47:38Speaker 10: They lost the first two games, came back, he had
- 47:41Speaker 10: like four touchdowns and then they like went onto the
- 47:43Speaker 10: Super Bowl.
- 47:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 47:46Speaker 1: Drama keeps them young. Yeah, and it's been it's been interesting.
- 47:51Speaker 5: I have no clue that this year, if you're Titans.
- 47:54Speaker 10: That's what I'm saying either one of them.
- 47:57Speaker 5: Yeah, Trey is. He's such a unique rusher though, because
- 48:01Speaker 5: he's not overly fast. He does a great job of
- 48:04Speaker 5: getting around the edge somehow, He's much more of a
- 48:06Speaker 5: power rusher. He's savvy, plays the game very what's the
- 48:11Speaker 5: word I'm looking for, Like sound. He's very sound in
- 48:15Speaker 5: the run game like. He does a great job. Michael
- 48:18Speaker 5: Parts is one of those guys you kind of just go, hey,
- 48:20Speaker 5: Will linebacker, Sam linebacker, You guys gotta watch it he
- 48:23Speaker 5: does and cover up, cover his ass up. He's gonna
- 48:25Speaker 5: go make some places for yeah, go fuck up that party.
- 48:28Speaker 5: And he's much younger. I mean trade. Trade has been
- 48:30Speaker 5: in the game for a little bit, so, I mean
- 48:33Speaker 5: both of them would help your defense in a big way.
- 48:34Speaker 5: Go get both of them.
- 48:36Speaker 1: Go get both of them.
- 48:40Speaker 5: Now, you just changed the entire season. It doesn't matter
- 48:45Speaker 5: how your back end looks like, you're not getting the
- 48:48Speaker 5: ball off. You're not getting the ball off of that.
- 48:51Speaker 1: We interrupt this episode because this show is sponsored by
- 48:54Speaker 1: Liquid Ivy. The boys are gonna be on the road
- 48:56Speaker 1: a lot this season, and we're going to need our
- 48:58Speaker 1: electric lights and just once stick and sixteen ounces of water.
- 49:02Speaker 1: This hydrates better than water alone. Liquid IV has three
- 49:06Speaker 1: times the electrolytes of the leading sports drink and has
- 49:09Speaker 1: eight essential vitamins and nutrients always non GMO, vegan, gluten free,
- 49:13Speaker 1: dairy free, and soy fee soy free. Savor the last
- 49:17Speaker 1: bit of summer with Liquid IV. Tear Poor, Live more.
- 49:21Speaker 1: Go to liquidiv dot com to get twenty percent off
- 49:24Speaker 1: your first order with code busting at checkout. That's twenty
- 49:27Speaker 1: percent off your first order with code busting at liquidiv
- 49:31Speaker 1: dot com. Back to the episode, another exciting headline is
- 49:34Speaker 1: who's going to be the third third string quarterback for
- 49:37Speaker 1: the BROWNSDG people. The internet eats up that contest. Joe's
- 49:44Speaker 1: Joe Flacco. Who's to Picket Pickett on the depth chart
- 49:49Speaker 1: right now? Is Joe Flacco, It's Picket and then it's
- 49:51Speaker 1: Dylan Gabriel. Yeah, because there's conspiracies coming out of the
- 49:55Speaker 1: weekend that the Browns this is what they wanted to do.
- 49:58Speaker 1: They wanted to set up should dear Or for not
- 50:00Speaker 1: having success, they took him out. They removed him on
- 50:04Speaker 1: the two minute drill and put in Huntley, who they
- 50:06Speaker 1: knew what wasn't gonna be on the roster the next day.
- 50:08Speaker 1: Why not let you get those reps in. There's also
- 50:12Speaker 1: the conspiracy is going so deep. I mean, this is
- 50:14Speaker 1: Tim tebowesque type fandom, but the conspiracies are running so
- 50:17Speaker 1: deep that they're saying the old line wasn't gonna block
- 50:19Speaker 1: or didn't block for him. It was like trying to
- 50:23Speaker 1: sabotage his game by not blocking for him.
- 50:25Speaker 5: Okay, let's start there. Let's start there's I'm just saying
- 50:29Speaker 5: that is I don't know if you are a Browns
- 50:32Speaker 5: fan who believes that the offensive line look at it
- 50:34Speaker 5: like this is remember the Titans and the guards just
- 50:37Speaker 5: kind of like being a revolving door. That is the
- 50:39Speaker 5: dumbest fucking thing if you will ever hear. Yeah, you
- 50:42Speaker 5: have guys that are also getting paid. They also want
- 50:44Speaker 5: to make the team.
- 50:45Speaker 1: There you're telling yeah, you're telling me that there's five
- 50:50Speaker 1: guys on the third string. If I go back to
- 50:53Speaker 1: my rookie year, five Willy c type mentalities out there,
- 50:56Speaker 1: being like, oh I'm not gonna block.
- 50:57Speaker 5: For this, dude, fight for your life. I mean, you
- 51:00Speaker 5: keep nine offensive linemen and you're the third string, you're
- 51:04Speaker 5: the bottom, you know, fifteen guys. Yeah, and they're gonna
- 51:08Speaker 5: be like, hey, go ahead and want shaders out there.
- 51:10Speaker 5: Maybe just let it go a little bit. Yeah, because
- 51:12Speaker 5: you got thirty one other teams. Most of those guys
- 51:13Speaker 5: are gonna cut. You have thirty one other teams that
- 51:15Speaker 5: are evaluating you as well. Maybe your a pea squad guy.
- 51:17Speaker 5: Maybe you're good enough to be another team and be
- 51:18Speaker 5: like Cleeveland Brown's offense is that good. There is not
- 51:21Speaker 5: a fucking chance in hell that someone is making a
- 51:24Speaker 5: decision to not block for somebody because they will lose
- 51:26Speaker 5: their job. That is so dumb. And if you draft
- 51:29Speaker 5: a guy, it's like, yeah, you put yourself in a
- 51:32Speaker 5: peculiar situation with Gabriel, with Flacco being older, pick it
- 51:36Speaker 5: like you've got four quarterbacks and you're like, here it is.
- 51:40Speaker 5: We have a very unique situation. Also, Joshaun Deshaun Watson,
- 51:43Speaker 5: he's putting out film of him being ready to throw again.
- 51:45Speaker 5: He's got guaranteed too hundred sixteen million.
- 51:47Speaker 1: Most interesting quarterback room in the world right now.
- 51:50Speaker 5: But there's no way that the Browns are sitting there
- 51:53Speaker 5: being like, I know we don't ever make the playoffs
- 51:57Speaker 5: and we have a great defense, but we still can't
- 52:00Speaker 5: get over the hump from an office perspective, But let's
- 52:02Speaker 5: take the time to ruin this young man's career.
- 52:05Speaker 1: Where I will where I will fodder while throwing some
- 52:10Speaker 1: some fish food is I was listening to T J.
- 52:13Speaker 1: Hushman Zada and chatout Yo Sinko break it down, and
- 52:17Speaker 1: hushman Zada had a good point like, if you're if
- 52:19Speaker 1: you're in a tight race, compete for the threes and
- 52:21Speaker 1: you kind of know what your roster is gonna look like,
- 52:24Speaker 1: why in that last game would you not give them
- 52:26Speaker 1: equal opportunity versus Dylan Gabril playing Did he play the
- 52:30Speaker 1: first half and then she played the second half? Like
- 52:33Speaker 1: why not go a couple, you know, couple drives at
- 52:36Speaker 1: a time, kind of give them equal opportunity and let
- 52:38Speaker 1: it play out, versus you know you're you're just you're
- 52:41Speaker 1: putting shadder out there with all the bottom roster guys
- 52:44Speaker 1: and then also removing him from a two minute drill
- 52:46Speaker 1: where you could learn a little bit more about him
- 52:49Speaker 1: when you know Huntley's not going to be on the
- 52:50Speaker 1: roster the next day. That's the only one I can
- 52:53Speaker 1: sit there and be like, oh, I can understand that perspective. Totally.
- 52:56Speaker 1: But if you're going then if I challenge that and
- 52:59Speaker 1: then go complete business perspective of the front office of
- 53:02Speaker 1: everybody else, and you want to be proven right about
- 53:05Speaker 1: taking Dylan gar like Dylan Gabriel is a third round
- 53:07Speaker 1: pick to should hear and be in fifth Like, yeah,
- 53:09Speaker 1: that's a couple of rounds. But still if you want
- 53:11Speaker 1: this quarterback that he's gonna potentially be the future of
- 53:14Speaker 1: the Browns, you want him to be in the best
- 53:16Speaker 1: situation possible, So a place out that way, and that's
- 53:20Speaker 1: just you know, as my man on Bruce L. Mighty
- 53:22Speaker 1: would say, that's how the cookie crumbles, because when you
- 53:26Speaker 1: are a bottom roster type guy, you're not going to
- 53:28Speaker 1: be in the perfect situations. It's going to be you
- 53:31Speaker 1: have your opportunity, nobody cares worre harder, like nobody's coming
- 53:35Speaker 1: to save you. You're going to be on your own
- 53:36Speaker 1: island trying to create your own opportunities and the chances
- 53:39Speaker 1: that you do have. I thought dan Orlowski did a
- 53:41Speaker 1: good job breaking down Shoulder's game on actually talking football,
- 53:45Speaker 1: how he's drifted in the pocket, doing some things that
- 53:47Speaker 1: were question marks of him coming out of college. Actually
- 53:49Speaker 1: talking football but again, when you are a lower round
- 53:52Speaker 1: pickcorn undrafted guy, I'm telling you right now, there is
- 53:56Speaker 1: no chance for the staff and everybody's thinking, how do
- 53:58Speaker 1: we set up this lower round Are this undrafted guy
- 54:01Speaker 1: for success? Nobody's think of that. It's it's make your
- 54:03Speaker 1: own way when you get to the fucking NFL.
- 54:04Speaker 5: I don't disagree. You said a lot of words there.
- 54:06Speaker 5: Let's try to break it down one by one. Why
- 54:08Speaker 5: do you play one quarterback for a first half and
- 54:10Speaker 5: the other quarterback for the whole second half. My answer
- 54:12Speaker 5: to that is, when you're looking at a quarterback and
- 54:15Speaker 5: the praut they put on the field, it's not one
- 54:17Speaker 5: drive that's going to define them in that game. It's
- 54:19Speaker 5: the consistency of having them in. How are they operating
- 54:21Speaker 5: when they make the operation, How do they when they
- 54:23Speaker 5: make the mistake the next series? How do they operate?
- 54:26Speaker 5: How are they handling themselves when they have down, how
- 54:29Speaker 5: they bring themselves back up when they're up. How they
- 54:31Speaker 5: keep that consistency. So I think that's the reason why
- 54:33Speaker 5: you play one guy for a chuck of time and
- 54:35Speaker 5: the other guy for a different chuck of time.
- 54:36Speaker 1: And Dylan didn't play in the first game right, he
- 54:38Speaker 1: did not hit a hand shot.
- 54:40Speaker 5: So Huntley taking over a two minute drill and taking
- 54:42Speaker 5: Chador out. The logic in that is, you know that
- 54:46Speaker 5: Tyler Huntley is not going to be on your team.
- 54:47Speaker 5: This is the last preseason game of the year. This
- 54:49Speaker 5: is where teams would go, we need this guy. We
- 54:52Speaker 5: should give this guy a look as a tip of
- 54:54Speaker 5: the cap to be like, hey, he's still a viable option.
- 54:56Speaker 5: He keep trying to keep his dreams alive. We've kind
- 54:59Speaker 5: of made our decision. Let's get this guy out there.
- 55:01Speaker 5: So there's thirty one other teams that might want to
- 55:02Speaker 5: bring him in as a third quarterback.
- 55:03Speaker 1: And I love that thought because it's we know, we
- 55:06Speaker 1: know Shadur is going to be on the squad, we
- 55:08Speaker 1: know we trust him in a two minute drill. And
- 55:10Speaker 1: if you flip it to setting up somebody else for hey,
- 55:13Speaker 1: he's not gonna be on the squad, he can have
- 55:15Speaker 1: some tape before he goes out to the open market.
- 55:17Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 55:18Speaker 1: I like that thought of, hey, let's rip him out
- 55:20Speaker 1: there for a two minute drill.
- 55:21Speaker 5: People are scratching and calling for an answer about these
- 55:25Speaker 5: two quarterbacks, Gabriel and Sanders. You want the answer you
- 55:29Speaker 5: don't get the answer. Time is what's going to give
- 55:31Speaker 5: you the answer. Joe Flyhood goes down, who's gonna go in?
- 55:33Speaker 5: Kenny Picktt's gonna go in. Let's say he goes down
- 55:35Speaker 5: or he starts not playing very well. The next person
- 55:37Speaker 5: that's going to go in is Dylan. All Right, that's
- 55:40Speaker 5: how it's going to be. He's a third round pick.
- 55:42Speaker 5: He's going to get the nod before Sanders. That is
- 55:45Speaker 5: the answer. It's not because there's a conspiracy. Dion has
- 55:48Speaker 5: said all these things and boasted his kids up. That
- 55:51Speaker 5: is what is going to happen.
- 55:52Speaker 1: Because Dylan has operated well enough in training camp that hey,
- 55:55Speaker 1: we're gonna roll him out there.
- 55:56Speaker 5: Right and a third round you're being like, oh, it's
- 55:58Speaker 5: only two rounds. It's a big fucking those two rounds.
- 56:01Speaker 5: That first three rounds are guys that you know are
- 56:03Speaker 5: guaranteed to make your spot. Guaranteed is such a relative term,
- 56:06Speaker 5: but for the most part, your three first three rounds,
- 56:09Speaker 5: those guys are almost guaranteed a roster spot unless they
- 56:11Speaker 5: fuck up in a big way. After you get past
- 56:13Speaker 5: the third round, that's when question marks. The farther you
- 56:16Speaker 5: get towards that seventh and undrafted, the less guarantee or
- 56:19Speaker 5: chance you have of actually making the roster, you have
- 56:21Speaker 5: to do something. Shadiri Sanders is a talent, there's no
- 56:24Speaker 5: doubt about it. But to say that they are not
- 56:25Speaker 5: setting up for success is such a fucking lie. It's
- 56:29Speaker 5: not real. It's this is how.
- 56:32Speaker 1: Success.
- 56:33Speaker 5: It's we're trying to set up the team for success.
- 56:36Speaker 5: You're trying to make sure the Cleveland Browns are the
- 56:37Speaker 5: best team they can possibly be. If Shador is that answer,
- 56:40Speaker 5: we will find that out in the future. But our
- 56:42Speaker 5: job is not to coddle and make sure that this
- 56:44Speaker 5: kid gets the reps. So we can say he's a
- 56:46Speaker 5: finished product now, or he's not and we get rid
- 56:49Speaker 5: of him, or we make him the starting role player.
- 56:50Speaker 5: That's an answer that the fun media wants and the
- 56:53Speaker 5: fans want to know, but it's not the best thing
- 56:55Speaker 5: for your franchise. So that is it's so over drawn
- 56:58Speaker 5: and ridiculous. And you see how over drawn ridiculous it
- 57:00Speaker 5: is by the way Shoulder is being asked questions and
- 57:03Speaker 5: the way he's being clickbit. I thought you did a
- 57:04Speaker 5: great job with the obviously quote, and you're like, here's
- 57:08Speaker 5: the clip for context. I think that is a good
- 57:10Speaker 5: job being for the boys a massive you know, that's
- 57:13Speaker 5: the foundation of this show. I being like there, everyone's
- 57:15Speaker 5: trying to give a should or a gotcha moment and
- 57:17Speaker 5: you being like, no, no, no, here's the context of
- 57:19Speaker 5: anything that's going on. You got to watch out for
- 57:21Speaker 5: the smoking mirrors.
- 57:22Speaker 1: Because everybody wants is such an easy grab that everybody
- 57:26Speaker 1: it's they're so drawn to this story of Shader Sanders
- 57:30Speaker 1: and it's like, I'm in boat, Like to me, it's
- 57:33Speaker 1: the ball. It's like when everybody's bitching and complaining saying
- 57:35Speaker 1: they're intentionally setting him up not to fail. I'm just thinking, dude,
- 57:38Speaker 1: he's a fifth round pick. He's handled himself very well.
- 57:40Speaker 1: But it's like, man, you're not going to have all
- 57:42Speaker 1: of the best opportunities. Like that's just reality. That's real
- 57:45Speaker 1: everybody everywhere, And it's and then when you go with
- 57:48Speaker 1: this with these grabs of these media accounts, it's like
- 57:51Speaker 1: should he asked if he like belongs or I forget
- 57:54Speaker 1: what it was, And then they just use the one word.
- 57:56Speaker 1: Obviously they know that that's going to fodder the basis
- 57:59Speaker 1: of lookout and he is everything else without even looking
- 58:01Speaker 1: into anything. They just read that and think that and
- 58:04Speaker 1: it's like you see it there When Should has it,
- 58:06Speaker 1: he like grins and smiles. He's like, I know what
- 58:08Speaker 1: you're trying to do, but obviously I feel like, yeah, everybody.
- 58:10Speaker 5: In this lot, paster, they should ask all ninety four
- 58:13Speaker 5: guys on that roster, do you think he belonged. No
- 58:15Speaker 5: one's gonna be like, no, yeah, I think I think
- 58:17Speaker 5: my dream's over and I think I'm actually not built
- 58:20Speaker 5: for this NFL thing. Even if you are having question
- 58:23Speaker 5: marks about your talent level, you faking it to you
- 58:25Speaker 5: make it. No guy's gonna sit there and be like,
- 58:27Speaker 5: I'm not good enough to play in the NFL. It's
- 58:29Speaker 5: the same thing as a couple of weeks ago. They
- 58:30Speaker 5: have their reporter that keeps shorting bad things about Shoulder.
- 58:33Speaker 5: It's like Should Sanders confronts reporter and you watch the
- 58:37Speaker 5: video and he smiled like, Hey, you're gonna write some
- 58:39Speaker 5: good things about me?
- 58:40Speaker 1: Yeah, like you're gonna do.
- 58:41Speaker 5: It's like you have to tip your if you are
- 58:44Speaker 5: a Shugar Sanders hater, you gotta tip your cap to
- 58:47Speaker 5: the way he's handled this This kid no disrespect? Is
- 58:49Speaker 5: that a silver spoon? Shove so far up his ass
- 58:52Speaker 5: his entire life. His dad is Dean Sanders, his dad
- 58:54Speaker 5: is Prime Time. He has been in the spotlight, he's
- 58:56Speaker 5: been in reality TV shows. He has been probably given
- 59:00Speaker 5: a little bit more than he should have in college.
- 59:02Speaker 5: Go back to his jersey retirement thing. I think we
- 59:04Speaker 5: can all agree that, and Shane actually put it the
- 59:07Speaker 5: best at the SP's of being like whatever his record
- 59:08Speaker 5: is and winning the alimbule or losing the alimable, whatever
- 59:11Speaker 5: it was, that probably doesn't get you a jersey retirement
- 59:15Speaker 5: in your college. However, he's been punching the face from
- 59:19Speaker 5: following on the draft as far as he can. People
- 59:21Speaker 5: hating on him, hating on this much, and he still
- 59:23Speaker 5: continues to have a smile on his face and works
- 59:25Speaker 5: his ass off. For me, I've seen enough. I need
- 59:28Speaker 5: to see a bush or I'm I'm bought in, and
- 59:30Speaker 5: I hope he has success. But it's like to go
- 59:33Speaker 5: and try to grab all these things. It's just while
- 59:35Speaker 5: his brother, on the other hand, I'm sure he's a
- 59:38Speaker 5: great kid. I'm sure he's fantastic. But if you're an
- 59:41Speaker 5: undrafted cat and you're swinging on guys in the last
- 59:43Speaker 5: preseason game, you are going to get cut. There's there
- 59:46Speaker 5: is no offense or butts you. I was a first
- 59:49Speaker 5: round draft pick. I could almost murder somebody, and I'm
- 59:53Speaker 5: probably going to be on the team for the year.
- 59:55Speaker 5: That's the reality of the NFL we're dealing with. When
- 59:57Speaker 5: you're undrafted, you have to do everything right. You have
- 1:00:01Speaker 5: to be on time every single time. You can't be
- 1:00:03Speaker 5: getting in fights, and you have to show sparks where
- 1:00:05Speaker 5: they're like, wait, who's this kid over here. I could
- 1:00:08Speaker 5: fuck around my first year of camp and act like
- 1:00:10Speaker 5: an idiot, and they're gonna be like, give them time,
- 1:00:12Speaker 5: let him mature, he's a talent, blah blah blah blah,
- 1:00:14Speaker 5: all those things. If you're undrafted, Shiloh said, you cannot
- 1:00:18Speaker 5: be swinging on a tight end. That's just it's an
- 1:00:20Speaker 5: unforgivable move. It's dumb, and it might have hurt you
- 1:00:22Speaker 5: from getting into another team.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: Yeah, come on, you get caught up in the moment
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: there for sure. But yeah, I mean you said that,
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: I got I got no notes. You're right, you got
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: to do everything right, like do everything on you have
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: no you don't have nine lives, you don't have any
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: extra lives like you've got to be somebody. That's where
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: it's like, oh, hey, he's pretty good. Does he know
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: the playbook? Is he serviceable on special teams that do
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: you do all the things right? That's where you set
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: yourself up for the best chance. To me, what's the
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: saddest about this whole thing is not even about Shoulder.
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: It's not about Shiloh. It's about how everybody else feels
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: about fans that are on the other side, that are
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: arguing on fucking social media about the whole thing. Because
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: if you the way you put it, it's like, if
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: you watch the body of work Shader has put out
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: there since he's gotten into the NFL, since he's gotten
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: into the training camp, the way he's handled interviews, everything
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: he knows he's got to put his head down to
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: work and he has done that. Yeah, I think he's
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: gonna continue to get opportunities. But for everybody to make
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: it it's just it. Surely crowds arguing gets crowds. It's
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: not even about the actual player. Yeah, people being upset
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: about you know, it feels like a politicized fucking thing.
- 1:01:25Speaker 5: Yeah, it's too much. I mean, we're I mean, we're
- 1:01:28Speaker 5: the headlines and the fun storylines are about to start
- 1:01:30Speaker 5: coming out where we can all kind of grasp something.
- 1:01:32Speaker 5: Is this team good or this team's fumbling at all?
- 1:01:34Speaker 5: We're gonna have all those things July August. Everyone's looking
- 1:01:38Speaker 5: for a story. Every media outlet is trying to do it.
- 1:01:41Speaker 5: You'll watch Kim Wore podcast. What do I ask? I
- 1:01:43Speaker 5: ask about Shadarra Sanders?
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: Why?
- 1:01:45Speaker 5: Because I know you you guys are gonna go and
- 1:01:47Speaker 5: be like, oh wait, let's go look at that clip. Yeah,
- 1:01:50Speaker 5: we all fucking do it. But it's like, now we're
- 1:01:52Speaker 5: getting a real football where the real shit that actually
- 1:01:55Speaker 5: matters in that world is gonna happen. Yeah, you're gonna
- 1:01:57Speaker 5: be good this year or you're not gonna be good
- 1:01:58Speaker 5: this year.
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: Yeah, speaking, I don't speaking a good highlights of storylines.
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: We will be doing a watch party October fifth at
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: the Brooklyn Blow Brooklyn Bowl watch party with the Titans October.
- 1:02:10Speaker 5: Fifth, October fifth, Goody.

- 1:03:06Speaker 5: that people don't really talk about a whole lot, but
- 1:03:09Speaker 5: to have the end Nebraska go Big Red, if we die,
- 1:03:12Speaker 5: we die, To have all that on one shirt takes
- 1:03:15Speaker 5: a lot of work. Also, shout out g for working

- 1:05:13Speaker 1: Can I be honest?
- 1:05:14Speaker 7: Hand up?
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: Can I be honest?
- 1:05:15Speaker 5: Can I just get on guy to say something?
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: You?
- 1:05:17Speaker 5: Can I say that?
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: Guy?
- 1:05:18Speaker 5: Just want to pitch my wagon to you. Whatever you're
- 1:05:19Speaker 5: about to say, I'm probably the same.
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: Okay, go ahead. Not a deep bag, really not a
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: bag at all when it comes to role play. Same.
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: I've flirted with it, you know, you fantasize about the
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: role play stuff, and you know I've had a situation
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: or two and it's just I get awkward. I am
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: I can't deliver.
- 1:05:39Speaker 11: I know.
- 1:05:40Speaker 5: To me, it's like, you're just excited what happens anyway
- 1:05:42Speaker 5: you want me to put Like I feel like when
- 1:05:44Speaker 5: you're putting an expectation on it and then you go
- 1:05:45Speaker 5: when you put the clothes on or whatever is it
- 1:05:47Speaker 5: chop for I'd like to.
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: Stories with Taylor as far as it goes, is wife.
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: You might be thrown on some lingerie, but I'm sitting
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: there silent, like, oh you look good.
- 1:06:00Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:06:01Speaker 5: It's a heavy breathing because you know, once that blood
- 1:06:05Speaker 5: flow goes from your brain down below, there's not a
- 1:06:07Speaker 5: whole lot of I can't do a whole lot with myself,
- 1:06:09Speaker 5: you know. I will.
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: Sitting on the edge of the bed and you just.
- 1:06:18Speaker 5: Leaned up like this. He's kind of like just h
- 1:06:20Speaker 5: He's like fighting for his life to get his head out,
- 1:06:22Speaker 5: you love water ready for this? Maybe because we are
- 1:06:26Speaker 5: not well versed in this, we create our tier talk together.
- 1:06:30Speaker 5: It's just a thought. It's a brainstorm. No bad ideas
- 1:06:31Speaker 5: in a brainstorm. How do you feel about that?
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: I'm with it.
- 1:06:34Speaker 5: Okay, let's do that. Let's do that. I'm gonna go this.
- 1:06:38Speaker 5: Probably this would be my Tier one something about a
- 1:06:41Speaker 5: massage table. So you know what I'm saying.
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: Are we talking massage table like about.
- 1:06:47Speaker 5: You know, I honestly Tailor's family watches this show, so
- 1:06:50Speaker 5: I'm trying to be as respectful as possible, especially a
- 1:06:53Speaker 5: greppl Win. But it's like the idea this hasn't happened,
- 1:06:56Speaker 5: the idea of you know, are we talking with Robert
- 1:07:01Speaker 5: Kraft type of situation you get, you know, get a massage,
- 1:07:04Speaker 5: laying down, towel, the whole the whole kit boodle. What's happened?
- 1:07:08Speaker 5: I no idea this is happening, and then it happens.
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: Are we talking massage table like on the show Dave
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: where he's getting milked in the garage?
- 1:07:16Speaker 5: That's maybe sure, go ahead throw that one in there.
- 1:07:20Speaker 5: Two three, I.
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: Don't know if I'm thinking anything. It's like you just
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: get no do we call this one a gap? And like,
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: you know, Charlie walks in the room. She's got a
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: helmet on. She's got a Nebraska helmet on, and hey, Sweeter,
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: we're playing a gap ton. She comes in and I
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: got the I got the full suit on, an I
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: tackler and you know how they go to where they
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: roll around and they're starting to get up off the field.
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: She rolls around. We end up in doggy style and
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: we just called that. We're a gapping the night, sweetheart,
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: and she just keeps the helmet on.
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: Hey, because we're both uncomfortable with you, I'm with you,
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: or get her head set on. Maybe she plays Dana
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: Hoole Ogerson whereas a boys that she's got a Nebraska
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: jersey and she's got the head. We're in a two
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: minutes real, sweetheart, get me going give she starts.
- 1:08:07Speaker 5: You guys win the game. You're in the locker room
- 1:08:09Speaker 5: after and like, hey, you called the hell of a game.
- 1:08:11Speaker 5: You called the hell of a game.
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: Yeah, she calls the game and the commentator touchdown. We
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: start jumping, hugging, and then we just starting She's.
- 1:08:18Speaker 5: Sitting there, she just starts. She got the towel over
- 1:08:20Speaker 5: her shoulders and sitting there. Don't you hear the door
- 1:08:22Speaker 5: open and close behind her? Call it a good game today?
- 1:08:24Speaker 5: She looks back. You think so, I think a lot
- 1:08:27Speaker 5: of things, and then all of a sudden, stuffing starts
- 1:08:29Speaker 5: going down a little bit. Yes, sweetheart, sure what do
- 1:08:36Speaker 5: you got? Let's you tear one would be fantastic at
- 1:08:41Speaker 5: role play.
- 1:08:42Speaker 12: Yeah, now, now I kind of want to answer it seriously.
- 1:08:46Speaker 12: I was going to say pick six, that the Holiday
- 1:08:48Speaker 12: Ball would be pretty good.
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: The big another willie Ce like, I just roll the decks,
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: have a playbook of a fantasies I gotta play out? Yeah,
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: my best please, yeah, just starting after I go just
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: damn shut up the row.
- 1:09:00Speaker 12: I just I love so many movies I would want
- 1:09:03Speaker 12: to do like some kind of movie scene, some kind
- 1:09:05Speaker 12: of movie characters.
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: Oh how war to the rint?
- 1:09:08Speaker 12: If I'm aer Gorn, she's u awin. That's game over, dude,
- 1:09:13Speaker 12: I have How.
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: Would you handle being a like a teacher substitute teaching?
- 1:09:17Speaker 5: Why don't you guys try a little something real quick?
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: See now I get uncomfortable. I'm gonna be Jill.
- 1:09:24Speaker 12: Yeah you would you could crush it. And I'm the substitute.
- 1:09:27Speaker 5: Yeah, you're the substitute.
- 1:09:28Speaker 12: Okay, all right, class everybody. Uh, let's get our pencils
- 1:09:33Speaker 12: and papers out. It's quiet down.
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: Oh you right there in the front row.
- 1:09:37Speaker 7: You had a question.
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: Yeah we will, mister Young. What will we be learning today?
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: You can just call me.
- 1:09:43Speaker 12: You can just call me Sherman. Mister Young's my father.
- 1:09:46Speaker 7: Uh.
- 1:09:47Speaker 12: Today we're gonna be studying anatomy. You know what anatomy is?
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: Jill? Will you teach me what anatomy is?
- 1:09:57Speaker 12: You absolutely, that's the study of the hu and body.
- 1:10:01Speaker 12: Would you want to come up and I can demonstrate
- 1:10:03Speaker 12: something in front of the class.
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: Oh, I wouldn't mind that. Mister Young. You're looking real

- 1:10:32Speaker 12: I sure do, Jill. Uh And, and you've been misbehaving
- 1:10:38Speaker 12: in my class. I don't know if we can have

- 1:11:27Speaker 5: Yeah. I always try to make jokes and then I
- 1:11:29Speaker 5: was like, what are you doing?

- 1:11:55Speaker 1: the house.
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:11:57Speaker 5: This episode cam Ward first overall picked by Tansey Tyans
- 1:12:02Speaker 5: in this past draft. A lot of exciting stuff. First,
- 1:12:05Speaker 5: first interview, I think he's done. First long form interview
- 1:12:08Speaker 5: he has ever done. I had him Tyler Lockett, the
- 1:12:11Speaker 5: Boy of the Biscuit, Corey Levin on there. I think
- 1:12:14Speaker 5: everybody who is a fan of football will enjoy listening
- 1:12:17Speaker 5: to these three talk. Three very different personalities, all three
- 1:12:20Speaker 5: play for the same team. Big hugs, tiny kisses. Let's
- 1:12:23Speaker 5: enjoy this episode.
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: I love thinking that the Titans fans tuning in that
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: they just got to hear that before we.
- 1:12:29Speaker 5: Get Yeah, hopefully they made it to the interview. This

- 1:13:00Speaker 5: amazing to have you on the podcast. First overall, Pick incredible.
- 1:13:04Speaker 5: Talk to me about your relationship with Puff and how
- 1:13:06Speaker 5: difficult it was for him to get you on this podcast.
- 1:13:09Speaker 11: It really difficult for him. I try to get here
- 1:13:11Speaker 11: here very day. Yeah, somebody got to do it, you know.
- 1:13:14Speaker 11: On the team, I think the players don't do it enough.
- 1:13:16Speaker 11: I mean, Puff is a cool guy. I mean he's
- 1:13:18Speaker 11: someone that like being around. I'm glad he's doing our
- 1:13:21Speaker 11: our operation here. He tried to make me do much
- 1:13:25Speaker 11: more than I really want to do. Yeah, so you know,
- 1:13:27Speaker 11: I'm trying to put my foot down on him. But
- 1:13:29Speaker 11: I mean I like Puff, I'm glad he with us.
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: Yeah, no doubt.
- 1:13:34Speaker 5: It's got to be. It's got to be tough you
- 1:13:36Speaker 5: coming to this media market. Everybody wants a piece of you,
- 1:13:38Speaker 5: and really, at the end of the day, like you're
- 1:13:40Speaker 5: quoted having endless quotes of just being like, I am
- 1:13:42Speaker 5: so focused on football. All I want to do is
- 1:13:44Speaker 5: focus on football. So for you to sit and take
- 1:13:46Speaker 5: the time.
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: I do appreciate it appreciation. What's the learning curve been
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: like for you going from college to the NFL. How
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: do you feel like you've handled it personally? You have
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: quotes out there, waking up before thirty, getting to getting
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: to the facility early, Like, what has the process been
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: like for you? Retaining the offense and just finding your
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: own ways to learn through it.
- 1:14:07Speaker 11: I think the biggest learning curve was I would say
- 1:14:12Speaker 11: the time and the terminology of the NFL. And I
- 1:14:17Speaker 11: just think it's different from college because there's more communication
- 1:14:24Speaker 11: in certain plays, maybe sometimes over communicating a certain plays,
- 1:14:29Speaker 11: but it all comes down to each word means something
- 1:14:32Speaker 11: for everybody. In college, we can have one word and
- 1:14:35Speaker 11: everybody know what to do. So I think that's the
- 1:14:38Speaker 11: biggest learning curveage just learning that but also making it
- 1:14:42Speaker 11: make sense in your mind, getting reps at home on
- 1:14:45Speaker 11: a VR that we have here. And then I'll say
- 1:14:48Speaker 11: the biggest thing was saying the play call for me
- 1:14:51Speaker 11: and I did it my last year Miami, saying a
- 1:14:53Speaker 11: play call, huddling up, but just how the play call is,
- 1:14:58Speaker 11: how long, how worthy they can get. It's just very
- 1:15:01Speaker 11: different in college.
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: Your study habits have to be good, like even on
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: your own at home, because there's it's like you hear
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: stories about you. You could be talking shit with the
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: defender and coaches and you're giving you the play call
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: and you're retaining the entire play call and going out
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: and executing. I feel like that's very impressive for a
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: young age and a first year quarterback. So you're is
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: there anything creatively that you're doing at home that is
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: that you feel like people might not know on going
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: You have the VR stuff here. Anybody quizzing you, like,
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: what is your style of studying when you're by yourself.
- 1:15:34Speaker 11: I say, everyway, my style from watching it on tape
- 1:15:38Speaker 11: to because on table it will show you the play
- 1:15:40Speaker 11: call as well. And then I'll say the biggest thing
- 1:15:44Speaker 11: I have just whoever I'm with, even with Strepo, like
- 1:15:48Speaker 11: he would be up here with me, some of the
- 1:15:49Speaker 11: other receivers, they would read the play to me and
- 1:15:52Speaker 11: I'll tell them only read it once, so I got
- 1:15:54Speaker 11: to remember it the first time. Because whether who's calling
- 1:15:57Speaker 11: their practice, Coach Nick or coach Klah, I always read
- 1:16:00Speaker 11: it twice. But I think just having to hear from
- 1:16:02Speaker 11: somebody whoever I'm around and then saying it again. I
- 1:16:07Speaker 11: think that's the biggest way I learned to just spit
- 1:16:09Speaker 11: out the play call fast and then just get rolling.
- 1:16:12Speaker 5: I heard an interesting story about you when you went
- 1:16:14Speaker 5: to first gout to Miami. I don't know who it was,
- 1:16:17Speaker 5: but they talked about it was like the first two
- 1:16:18Speaker 5: or three days you were there, and they were there
- 1:16:20Speaker 5: to watch practice, see how spring ball was going, and
- 1:16:22Speaker 5: you were essentially motherfucking the team on how we're not
- 1:16:26Speaker 5: good enough, we got to be better. And it's like
- 1:16:27Speaker 5: your second third day in the building. Now I'm seeing
- 1:16:30Speaker 5: photos of you standing up in front of the team
- 1:16:32Speaker 5: of tessee Titans talk to you about your leadership mentality.
- 1:16:35Speaker 5: And then when you walk into an NFL program seeing
- 1:16:38Speaker 5: guys that are in year ten, you're eight nine, like
- 1:16:41Speaker 5: guys who have families and kids, and you're a young
- 1:16:43Speaker 5: cat who's coming as a first overall pick, putting yourself
- 1:16:46Speaker 5: in a leadership category with this team.
- 1:16:49Speaker 11: I was just thinking more about learning your teammates. As
- 1:16:52Speaker 11: a quarterback, you always going to be the leader, no
- 1:16:53Speaker 11: matter if you want the job or you don't want
- 1:16:55Speaker 11: the job. It comes with the territory. So I think
- 1:16:58Speaker 11: young quarterbacks got to understand that, and I understood that,
- 1:17:01Speaker 11: I would say as soon as I got to college,
- 1:17:04Speaker 11: and just being able to be in the locker room
- 1:17:07Speaker 11: with vents. They also helped me on becoming a better leader,
- 1:17:12Speaker 11: knowing how to interpret my words to the guys. They
- 1:17:16Speaker 11: also just being around the older coaches and the building
- 1:17:19Speaker 11: Coach Bush and Coach Rocker. I think those two guys
- 1:17:22Speaker 11: they sat me down and they also helped me, you know,
- 1:17:25Speaker 11: be a better leader just every day, just trying not
- 1:17:30Speaker 11: to I would say, over communicate, but get the things
- 1:17:34Speaker 11: that we really need to get done. And that just
- 1:17:36Speaker 11: all comes with work ethic end. I think, just the
- 1:17:38Speaker 11: grit that you want to have. Like in Miami, we
- 1:17:41Speaker 11: were a very talented, talented team last year, but when
- 1:17:44Speaker 11: I first got there, we weren't there mentally. So I
- 1:17:47Speaker 11: tried to get guys there mentally because the end the day,
- 1:17:50Speaker 11: I say, at least eighty percent of the game is mental. Yeah,
- 1:17:53Speaker 11: you gotta have some physical, you know, attributes to play
- 1:17:55Speaker 11: the game, but you got to have a mental attribute
- 1:17:57Speaker 11: as well. And just for here, I think just all
- 1:17:59Speaker 11: about playing together. I think we've got a great group
- 1:18:02Speaker 11: group of guys in the locker room. We're unselfished group,
- 1:18:05Speaker 11: and I think the best that we have in Jeff Coandre,
- 1:18:08Speaker 11: Tona Calvin, like they've helped me just in this short
- 1:18:11Speaker 11: amount of time, you know, get to at least being
- 1:18:14Speaker 11: able to play at a high level. I know, I
- 1:18:15Speaker 11: got a lot of work to do. I'm glad I
- 1:18:17Speaker 11: got those guys.
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: Boy me.
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: You mentioned like stepping into college and understanding the role
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: that you're playing leadership wise, and being the quarterback. Who's
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: been your biggest influence in leadership? Because it is uncomfortable
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: no matter how you spend it, the first time you're
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: standing up and speaking to the team or stepping out
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: of your comfort zone to be like, I'm gonna take
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: on this responsibility. Who's been your biggest influence when it
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: comes to leadership.
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: I wouldn't say I had an influence on that.
- 1:18:45Speaker 11: On being into leadership, I just always felt that I'm
- 1:18:49Speaker 11: always saying what's on my mind, no matter how it
- 1:18:52Speaker 11: comes out at any given moment. I just I'm gonna
- 1:18:55Speaker 11: say what I feel. If it touches you a certain
- 1:18:58Speaker 11: type of way, then it touch me.
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: I could give. I don't care.
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: So, but is that something you're observing from either your
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: parents growing up, they created a space where you could
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: have this confidence with yourself.
- 1:19:12Speaker 11: Uh yeah, yeah, I would say that, especially growing up.
- 1:19:16Speaker 11: My parents they real old school, so you know, they believe,
- 1:19:19Speaker 11: they believe in whoopings, they believe in taking stuff away,
- 1:19:22Speaker 11: So you ain't gonna get over on them, especially as
- 1:19:25Speaker 11: a kid. Over time, you know, they got a little
- 1:19:27Speaker 11: bit more leaning with me since I'm the I'm the
- 1:19:28Speaker 11: youngest of the family, so I got a lot, I
- 1:19:31Speaker 11: got a lot of way, you know, with a lot
- 1:19:33Speaker 11: of stuff in my house. So I just think, you know,
- 1:19:36Speaker 11: just it's it's a part of parduct of your environment.
- 1:19:39Speaker 11: I think my parents raised me well, and you know,
- 1:19:41Speaker 11: I think I think, you know, it shows in my leadership.
- 1:19:44Speaker 5: There's a I mean, there's new era of college football
- 1:19:47Speaker 5: or nil. Everyone's got money, everyone's making something, change cars,
- 1:19:52Speaker 5: Like it's really like a mini NFL. At this point,
- 1:19:55Speaker 5: you see a lot of guys allowing the distractions to
- 1:19:58Speaker 5: overcome them. But you're a guy that consistently you see,
- 1:20:01Speaker 5: whether it's some press conferences, that viral video of you
- 1:20:03Speaker 5: and Shaudure sitting there and is like, hey, let's do
- 1:20:06Speaker 5: let's do a song, and You're like I'm a football player.
- 1:20:08Speaker 5: All people to know I'm a football player. At what
- 1:20:10Speaker 5: point were you, like, were you not letting yourself be
- 1:20:13Speaker 5: distracted by all the new shiny things. Obviously, you have
- 1:20:16Speaker 5: one scholarship ball for coming out of high school, then
- 1:20:19Speaker 5: you go to Washington State and end up in a
- 1:20:20Speaker 5: place like Miami. There's a lot of opportunity there with
- 1:20:23Speaker 5: you making money to be distracted. But you just seem
- 1:20:26Speaker 5: like a guy that consistently is like the main thing
- 1:20:28Speaker 5: is the main thing, that's all that matters is football.
- 1:20:31Speaker 11: I just think that's how I always carried myself. Like
- 1:20:34Speaker 11: even now, even after signing the field, I still don't
- 1:20:37Speaker 11: have no crazy stuff. Eventually, I'm gonna get me some
- 1:20:40Speaker 11: crazy stuff because I worked for I want eventually, but
- 1:20:43Speaker 11: that's just never been my focus, you know, at that time.
- 1:20:47Speaker 11: Right now, still on my face my focus, and I
- 1:20:50Speaker 11: want to be known as a football player.
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: At the end of the day.
- 1:20:53Speaker 11: I just think, you know, that's what you know, at least,
- 1:20:55Speaker 11: I was put on this earth for one thing to
- 1:20:57Speaker 11: do is play football. I think I'm very good at it,
- 1:21:00Speaker 11: and I just I just believe in just showing you know,
- 1:21:04Speaker 11: my skill set and everything else. Take care of yourself.
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: I was just gonna say, why do you love football
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: so much?
- 1:21:13Speaker 11: I think I love it more now because it wasn't
- 1:21:16Speaker 11: my first love. So every day I'm constantly learning something different,
- 1:21:21Speaker 11: whether it's by myself, whether it's about what I need
- 1:21:23Speaker 11: to get better at, or just in offense particular. I
- 1:21:27Speaker 11: was a big time basketball player growing up. That's really
- 1:21:29Speaker 11: all I want to do. And then, you know, just
- 1:21:32Speaker 11: over time, football just became just better to me. The
- 1:21:36Speaker 11: atmosphere around at the crowd around it, the enthusiasm everybody
- 1:21:40Speaker 11: plays with, and I just think there's nothing in this
- 1:21:44Speaker 11: world like football, nothing, no other sport can relate to it.
- 1:21:47Speaker 11: And I really didn't start taking football serious until my
- 1:21:50Speaker 11: senior year of high school. And I think just after
- 1:21:53Speaker 11: that there wasn't a lot of kids, you know, who
- 1:21:55Speaker 11: could throw football like me, and you know, I just
- 1:21:57Speaker 11: took off and.
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: Ran with it.
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: Did you start picking up football because you're like, all right,
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: basketball might not be working out for me at the
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: next level.
- 1:22:04Speaker 2: Yeah, it was. It was sort of like that.
- 1:22:07Speaker 11: I wasn't really getting no no offers, or wasn't hearing
- 1:22:11Speaker 11: from those big time schools, you know, in basketball. I
- 1:22:14Speaker 11: played football my whole life. My dad was a quarterback.
- 1:22:16Speaker 11: He told me how to throw the football. But I
- 1:22:19Speaker 11: was just so in love with basketball that I wanted
- 1:22:21Speaker 11: to push it away. But then, you know, just over time,
- 1:22:24Speaker 11: I just had to get back to it because I
- 1:22:26Speaker 11: knew it was my opportunity to showcase my skills.
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: After you get wild, yeah it is.
- 1:22:30Speaker 5: After you get one offer, you end up going there
- 1:22:33Speaker 5: for a year. What is take me through the transfer portal?
- 1:22:36Speaker 5: Because Will and I were old, like there was no
- 1:22:38Speaker 5: like anil if you transferred, you'd have to sit out
- 1:22:41Speaker 5: for a year back when we played college. But like,
- 1:22:42Speaker 5: what is that process like when you have to look
- 1:22:44Speaker 5: at the team you're playing with me like, I'm out
- 1:22:46Speaker 5: of here. I'm going to find a better opportunity for
- 1:22:48Speaker 5: me in.
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: My future transferport A while it.
- 1:22:53Speaker 11: Was wild the first time I got in, and the
- 1:22:55Speaker 11: second time got even worse, and it's just gonna continue
- 1:22:57Speaker 11: to get worse and worse, and in regardless of why
- 1:23:01Speaker 11: the person is transferring, I was transferring for a better opportunity.
- 1:23:06Speaker 11: I played FCS for two seasons. I balled out both seasons.
- 1:23:12Speaker 11: I just think it was ready for me to take
- 1:23:13Speaker 11: that step. I wanted to go to a Power five.
- 1:23:15Speaker 11: I couldn't do that out of high school. So when
- 1:23:17Speaker 11: I got my opportunity, I would go. Then when I
- 1:23:19Speaker 11: left Washington State, I did two years there. I really
- 1:23:22Speaker 11: was just wanted to find a new place. I was
- 1:23:26Speaker 11: gonna leave at the end of season, no matter what,
- 1:23:28Speaker 11: whether it's gonna go to the draft or hit the portal.
- 1:23:31Speaker 11: I already had my mind made up. And just going
- 1:23:34Speaker 11: to Miami, I think just you know, just made everything
- 1:23:36Speaker 11: come to light. But I just I really think the kid.
- 1:23:40Speaker 11: It depends on why the kid is transferred. And majority
- 1:23:44Speaker 11: of the kids who are transferring where they're getting a
- 1:23:46Speaker 11: portal late or early, is because they're trying to get
- 1:23:48Speaker 11: on the field. Because the end of the day, the
- 1:23:50Speaker 11: goal is to try to get to the NFL, no
- 1:23:52Speaker 11: matter how hard it is, no matter how you can get.
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: It, that's the goal.
- 1:23:55Speaker 11: And uh, half the kids, I would say three four
- 1:23:59Speaker 11: kids are transferred because they need to see the field.
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: That's the only way you can get to the NFL.
- 1:24:03Speaker 11: And I think the NIL made it better, especially in
- 1:24:07Speaker 11: not only quarterbacks but everybody because now like we can
- 1:24:11Speaker 11: actually get paid for a job, like college football is
- 1:24:16Speaker 11: a job, you have a way different schedule than a
- 1:24:20Speaker 11: basketball player or you know, if it's a if it's
- 1:24:23Speaker 11: a soccer player or in college or just a regular
- 1:24:26Speaker 11: student college, Like, the job is actually different from early
- 1:24:29Speaker 11: mornings to late nights. The fall camp is where the
- 1:24:32Speaker 11: job really kicked. He into the season. So you know,
- 1:24:34Speaker 11: I'm glad. I'm glad, you know I was able to get,
- 1:24:36Speaker 11: you know, what I deserved in college. I'm glad the
- 1:24:38Speaker 11: young guys that will continue to get what they deserve.
- 1:24:41Speaker 5: You talked about every kid wants to go to the NFL,
- 1:24:44Speaker 5: wants to go to the draft. In twenty twenty four,
- 1:24:46Speaker 5: you declared for the NFL draft ended up going to Miami. Like,
- 1:24:49Speaker 5: what was that process like where you're like, you know what,
- 1:24:51Speaker 5: I Am going to take one more year and maybe
- 1:24:54Speaker 5: get my draft stuck a little higher or whatever it is.
- 1:24:56Speaker 5: Because you said, if the goal is the NFL Draft,
- 1:24:57Speaker 5: and you send it that paper and they're like, oh,
- 1:25:00Speaker 5: you could be whatever, first second, third round pick, it's
- 1:25:02Speaker 5: like you're It's like they're basically saying you can achieve
- 1:25:04Speaker 5: your goal right now. What was the reason to go
- 1:25:06Speaker 5: to Miami.
- 1:25:07Speaker 11: I think the reason going to Miami is I I
- 1:25:11Speaker 11: love college football so much I didn't think I was ready,
- 1:25:15Speaker 11: but also what they were telling me, I just thought
- 1:25:17Speaker 11: it was bs. I got a chance to compete with
- 1:25:20Speaker 11: some of the other guys you know, in camps in
- 1:25:23Speaker 11: the draft class before, and I've just always thought I
- 1:25:25Speaker 11: was better than those guys, and so going to Miami
- 1:25:28Speaker 11: was easy for me. I knew in that situation I
- 1:25:31Speaker 11: wanted to go somewhere where I wasn't part of a rebuild.
- 1:25:34Speaker 11: They returned the whole receiving cord, the whole offensive line,
- 1:25:37Speaker 11: they returned majority of the defense, and so really it
- 1:25:40Speaker 11: was just plug and play for us the whole time
- 1:25:42Speaker 11: I was there. Coach Dawson and myoci there. He's a
- 1:25:45Speaker 11: spread he's a spread guy. He got a coach NFL
- 1:25:48Speaker 11: guys and Geno Smith and Clayton too, so he has
- 1:25:51Speaker 11: some experience with you know, NFL quarterbacks, and so I
- 1:25:54Speaker 11: just think the the biggest thing for me going there
- 1:25:57Speaker 11: was just being myself, and then it to me, here
- 1:26:00Speaker 11: is also another opportunity to lead.
- 1:26:01Speaker 2: Coach Chris of Ball. He gave me the keys to
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: the kingdom there.
- 1:26:05Speaker 11: He let me, you know, run the team how I
- 1:26:07Speaker 11: thought it should be rare, but you know, we were
- 1:26:10Speaker 11: able to get a couple of weirds out that season.
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: Taking a quick break from the episode, because we are

- 1:26:54Speaker 1: You mentioned the NIL portal being wild. Is there a
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: story you look back on as the wildest story your
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: NIL portal days.
- 1:27:03Speaker 2: For me?
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: Or just yeah, or maybe something you witnessed.
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: Something I witnessed.
- 1:27:12Speaker 11: M I did see something it's about I was a
- 1:27:17Speaker 11: part of it actually, when I was going to Miami
- 1:27:20Speaker 11: and they wanted Jeremiah Smith and at the time I
- 1:27:26Speaker 11: didn't know who he was. Because he was young and
- 1:27:28Speaker 11: I'm trying to I'm trying to give me a place
- 1:27:30Speaker 11: to play. And so they they told me to just
- 1:27:34Speaker 11: look him up, watch him a little bit, and that
- 1:27:37Speaker 11: boy a baller. Yeah, And so they gave me his
- 1:27:40Speaker 11: phone number. I called him and I told him, like,
- 1:27:43Speaker 11: I'm going to Miami. It was before like it went out,
- 1:27:46Speaker 11: because I told him this maybe a week earlier before
- 1:27:49Speaker 11: I told him. So I been knew where I was
- 1:27:51Speaker 11: gonna go, but I'm always gonna do everything on my time.
- 1:27:55Speaker 11: And so you know, I called him. You know, we
- 1:27:57Speaker 11: chopped it up. He had to go to Ohio stay.
- 1:27:59Speaker 11: I was I was gonna talty, but you know, I'm
- 1:28:01Speaker 11: glad you went.
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: Oh So, you guys are about to be a package deal.
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: Like in your head, you're like, all right, i'm gonna
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: call I'm gonna call up, I'm gonna call Jeremiah Smith,
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: and I'm gonna let him know that I'm going to Miami.
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: And in thinking that we're going to be aligned and
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: both going together. When you're telling him, you're thinking, all right,
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: he's probably gonna fall suit based on our relationship. So
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: then when he chose Ohio State, you kind of felt.
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: Nah, I wouldn't.
- 1:28:31Speaker 11: I wouldn't say that because I already knew the offers
- 1:28:33Speaker 11: he had. But I tried to get him there for
- 1:28:36Speaker 11: for me, you know, a good pass catcher, but they
- 1:28:42Speaker 11: already had good receivers there. So I mean, he's he's
- 1:28:46Speaker 11: one of the best players to go out of high school.
- 1:28:47Speaker 11: I think I think he made a great sas going
- 1:28:49Speaker 11: to Hot State just because productively what they're doing in
- 1:28:54Speaker 11: the receiving room there, he's gonna have a chance, you know,
- 1:28:58Speaker 11: another year or two to be one of the best,
- 1:29:00Speaker 11: you know, receivers to come.
- 1:29:01Speaker 2: Out of there.
- 1:29:02Speaker 5: Yeah, hardline too that. I mean he was a wide receiver.
- 1:29:04Speaker 5: I think he's the OC now. Yeah he got like yeah,
- 1:29:07Speaker 5: they just produced wide receivers all the time. Do you
- 1:29:09Speaker 5: think you were close getting them? You got off that
- 1:29:12Speaker 5: phone call and was there, It's.
- 1:29:13Speaker 2: Like, yeah, I was.
- 1:29:17Speaker 11: I think if I would have committed earlier, I might
- 1:29:20Speaker 11: have had a better chance to get him. But I
- 1:29:21Speaker 11: just waited so long. I literally waited the last day.
- 1:29:25Speaker 11: It's just he got he got you know, Dres too.
- 1:29:28Speaker 11: He he got to make his decisions. I think I
- 1:29:31Speaker 11: think I think if I would have you know, waited
- 1:29:33Speaker 11: a little or did a little bit sooner.
- 1:29:35Speaker 2: I think I had a better.
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: Reflecting on his recruiting tactics, he's stopped dragging my feet. Yeah.
- 1:29:42Speaker 5: If I would have just yeah, if I would just
- 1:29:43Speaker 5: committed a little bit sooner, I could have had him.
- 1:29:46Speaker 5: You talked about going to these camps and seeing these
- 1:29:49Speaker 5: other quarterbacks and being like, I'm better than these cats.
- 1:29:52Speaker 5: So before your your final year at Miami, there's a
- 1:29:56Speaker 5: lot of conversations rolved around Seorge Sanders. He's the first
- 1:29:59Speaker 5: overall pack. Obviously, you guys, I'm assuming you guys have
- 1:30:02Speaker 5: a great relationship. Some of the clips you've seen and
- 1:30:03Speaker 5: stuff like that. What what is it like for you
- 1:30:07Speaker 5: to have like this rivalry with sh your door and
- 1:30:10Speaker 5: have it play out the way it has.
- 1:30:12Speaker 2: I don't have a rivalry rhythm. That's my boy.
- 1:30:16Speaker 11: So at the end of the day, this whole process,
- 1:30:21Speaker 11: we thought me and him were gonna be one to
- 1:30:23Speaker 11: two the whole time, whether he's one two where don
- 1:30:25Speaker 11: one he's two, and so that's just always been, you know,
- 1:30:28Speaker 11: our mindset. It didn't go that way, but I mean,
- 1:30:31Speaker 11: just coming out of college, even to the draft, I
- 1:30:34Speaker 11: thought he was one of the better quarterbacks in the
- 1:30:35Speaker 11: draft as well. Even throughout college, he's been productive. Where
- 1:30:40Speaker 11: he's been every time we both started fcs. He was
- 1:30:42Speaker 11: at you know, Jackson State. I was at Cardi Word
- 1:30:46Speaker 11: and that's where really we met for the first time
- 1:30:48Speaker 11: with our quarterback coach when we first got to college.
- 1:30:51Speaker 11: And then he's always been, you know, just a great
- 1:30:53Speaker 11: person to be around. A lot of stuff out there
- 1:30:56Speaker 11: all him ain't really you know the truth, just because
- 1:31:00Speaker 11: they spend it different ways, like they spend stuff about
- 1:31:02Speaker 11: me different ways. But I mean I've always thought he
- 1:31:05Speaker 11: was a productive quarterback. I mean a lot of people
- 1:31:08Speaker 11: may have your own opinion. I have mine as well,
- 1:31:11Speaker 11: But I mean when when he gets his chance, you know,
- 1:31:14Speaker 11: to become a starter, I know he's gonna make the
- 1:31:16Speaker 11: most of it. And you know, all ready to get
- 1:31:18Speaker 11: back to back to work with him, you know after
- 1:31:20Speaker 11: the season, you know, talk some more stuff to him,
- 1:31:23Speaker 11: you know, say some crazy stuff. I mean, we just
- 1:31:25Speaker 11: go keep on pushing each other.
- 1:31:26Speaker 7: Uh.
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: You talk about the media spinning things different ways. You're
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: leaving halftime? Was getting spun a lot of different ways
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: at the ball game in Miami? Was it always the
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: plan you go out there? Was it were you going
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: after the record, and then once you get the record,
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: you were gonna shut it down. Was it just play
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: one half of football? Was you try and get Miami
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: out to the fastest start as possible, and you were
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: gonna be done because obviously you have the net, you
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: have your you have this career to think about next.
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: But what what was the game plan going into that
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: Bowl game? That was crazy because it got spun everywhere.
- 1:31:59Speaker 2: I didn't even know how this.
- 1:32:00Speaker 11: Stuff was going on until I said, maybe two hours
- 1:32:03Speaker 11: after the game once I think my cousin sent me
- 1:32:06Speaker 11: a text message or some because I really don't be
- 1:32:09Speaker 11: checking my phone like that. And that's just always been,
- 1:32:13Speaker 11: you know, a part of playing. After we lost to.
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: Syracuse, by the way, crazy crazy, that was pain.
- 1:32:23Speaker 2: Yeah, pain, So sorry.
- 1:32:26Speaker 5: That's a full different conversation.
- 1:32:29Speaker 11: But after after that meet coach Dunston and Chris Ball,
- 1:32:31Speaker 11: we all had a conversation. They knew what I had,
- 1:32:35Speaker 11: you know and storing the future, and they also want
- 1:32:37Speaker 11: to you know, leave the program the right way, and
- 1:32:41Speaker 11: I respected it for it. That's always been a plan
- 1:32:44Speaker 11: for for me to play, you know, a half actually played,
- 1:32:47Speaker 11: you know more than me and the OC had talked
- 1:32:49Speaker 11: about and so I want to I want to get
- 1:32:53Speaker 11: out of there when it was my time, at least
- 1:32:56Speaker 11: up in the up in the game, we were up
- 1:32:58Speaker 11: by I think three points, and then at the end
- 1:33:00Speaker 11: of the time they were trying to find out who
- 1:33:02Speaker 11: their quarterback was going to be for next year. They
- 1:33:04Speaker 11: end up playing one of the young guys, so that
- 1:33:08Speaker 11: I think that let them know that, you know, they
- 1:33:10Speaker 11: want to go try to get a quarterback. They got
- 1:33:12Speaker 11: to go win and Carson back. But I also think,
- 1:33:14Speaker 11: you know, the guy who did play Emory, you know,
- 1:33:16Speaker 11: he's a good quarterback, and after this year, you know,
- 1:33:19Speaker 11: if it's Emmy time, I think he'll have a good
- 1:33:21Speaker 11: a good year onces his turn.
- 1:33:22Speaker 5: What is it like, like Will brought up the Syracuse
- 1:33:25Speaker 5: twenty up by twenty one, when you when you're walking
- 1:33:29Speaker 5: to a game in Miami and you're like, essentially have
- 1:33:30Speaker 5: to put up forty first win and things are not
- 1:33:33Speaker 5: going your way Sometimes, what is that conversation like from
- 1:33:36Speaker 5: you to the defense or to the team when it's like,
- 1:33:39Speaker 5: we're essentially wasting this offensive juggernaut that we have going
- 1:33:42Speaker 5: on here because you did the your offense was crazy.
- 1:33:45Speaker 11: Yeah, I think I think the end of the year,
- 1:33:49Speaker 11: we played team ball really majority all the time. Like
- 1:33:53Speaker 11: I can say the Virginia Tech game, I had two
- 1:33:57Speaker 11: books and the defense they kept us in the game.
- 1:34:01Speaker 11: The Georgia Tech game, we didn't have our best game offensively,
- 1:34:05Speaker 11: and the defense did enough to keep us in the game,
- 1:34:07Speaker 11: getting a two minute drive, and we didn't come through.
- 1:34:11Speaker 11: In the Syracuse game, we didn't lift up the defense
- 1:34:14Speaker 11: enough to be able to win that game and finish
- 1:34:17Speaker 11: it out. So I just think a key times, you know,
- 1:34:21Speaker 11: we didn't lock in and that that ended up results
- 1:34:24Speaker 11: us not making the playoff. But I mean we had
- 1:34:26Speaker 11: a good run.
- 1:34:27Speaker 2: We had. I think.
- 1:34:30Speaker 11: It was like five or six or seven, maybe seven
- 1:34:32Speaker 11: of us that got drafted. So that's a good draft
- 1:34:35Speaker 11: class for coach Chris of ball. All of us are
- 1:34:37Speaker 11: good places that we want to be in. But I
- 1:34:39Speaker 11: mean one of those we have a game like that
- 1:34:41Speaker 11: when you up that much and then you just end
- 1:34:46Speaker 11: up losing like that, That's that's something that you don't
- 1:34:49Speaker 11: want to go through as a competitor.
- 1:34:50Speaker 2: But end of the day, you gotta lose to win.
- 1:34:53Speaker 2: That's how I think of it.
- 1:34:54Speaker 11: And the guys who got drafted with all the good situations,
- 1:34:57Speaker 11: and I believe that might even gonna be able to
- 1:34:59Speaker 11: get some more d facing this next draft class.
- 1:35:01Speaker 5: What uh, when did you know that the Tanser Titans
- 1:35:05Speaker 5: is going to be your new home?
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: I knew, Like when did you know? When did you think?
- 1:35:11Speaker 5: I'm pretty sure this is gonna happen? And then when
- 1:35:12Speaker 5: we're like, all right this, I know for sure now
- 1:35:14Speaker 5: this is happening.
- 1:35:16Speaker 2: I think honestly pro Day, I think PROD.
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: We hear you, puff puff, don't worry like we see
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: you back.
- 1:35:24Speaker 5: He's enjoyed.
- 1:35:25Speaker 2: Yeah, a meeting, this ship over work. This ain't my
- 1:35:28Speaker 2: damn one. What you talking about? To check my one?
- 1:35:36Speaker 5: And you're free to go whenever you'd like.
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: I say, the last question, we're in the middle of
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: the Titans question.
- 1:35:44Speaker 5: You want to put the Titans?
- 1:35:47Speaker 2: They did you put the camera?
- 1:35:51Speaker 11: I would say I knew, at least in my mind
- 1:35:55Speaker 11: pro Day after pro Day, because that was the first
- 1:35:58Speaker 11: time to get to see me throw in person. And
- 1:36:01Speaker 11: then because all the draft is you you got the
- 1:36:03Speaker 11: idea where you're going. You see just stuff they put
- 1:36:07Speaker 11: on TV out there in the media, but you don't
- 1:36:09Speaker 11: know to your name get called. And so even like
- 1:36:12Speaker 11: we was at the draft. They was on the clock.
- 1:36:14Speaker 11: You know, they waited like two three minutes. I'm like,
- 1:36:18Speaker 11: I'm like, what's going on, what's going on? And so
- 1:36:20Speaker 11: they end were calling me, tell me that they're gonna
- 1:36:23Speaker 11: take me, buty. I mean, that's that's an unbelievable sperience.
- 1:36:25Speaker 11: I mean, it's something that you dream of every single
- 1:36:28Speaker 11: day of your life. For me, I want to be
- 1:36:30Speaker 11: a professional basketball player. But you know, I knew, you know,
- 1:36:33Speaker 11: the chips won't fall my way, but they feel my
- 1:36:35Speaker 11: way football. And so when you get a chance to
- 1:36:38Speaker 11: be a pro is something you don't take it for granted.
- 1:36:40Speaker 11: But I mean, that was that was an unbelievable moment,
- 1:36:43Speaker 11: not only for myself, all the other draftees, no matter
- 1:36:45Speaker 11: where you was first or seventh round, we all remember that.
- 1:36:48Speaker 11: You know, I'm glad I'm here, you know, and not
- 1:36:50Speaker 11: nowhere else.
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: What what individual defensive player are you most excited to
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: line up across from you know way to where it
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: might be Oh fuck, that miscared about to try and
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: get my ass. I would say like, oh that's pass Calvin.
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: I can't wait to watch you work today.
- 1:37:09Speaker 11: Individual, well, so I would say more d lineman because
- 1:37:19Speaker 11: I'm not really going against the dB for every play.
- 1:37:23Speaker 11: I'm going against the D lineman every play where they
- 1:37:25Speaker 11: trying to sack me, press me, whatever. So D lineman
- 1:37:29Speaker 11: I would easily have to say Max Crosby and Chris Jones,
- 1:37:33Speaker 11: those two, those two of the best football players in
- 1:37:37Speaker 11: the world, probably some of the grades of all times.
- 1:37:39Speaker 11: So I'm trying to be up there. You know, eventually
- 1:37:43Speaker 11: my when my time is done in the NFL. And
- 1:37:45Speaker 11: you know, if you if you want to be up
- 1:37:47Speaker 11: there with them guys, you know, you gotta be able
- 1:37:48Speaker 11: to compete with those guys, and you gotta be a
- 1:37:50Speaker 11: you know, say some crazy stuff to it.
- 1:37:51Speaker 2: You gotta be able to get there to play your game.
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: You have you have some crazy stuff that you say
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: with the With Jeff Simmons in practice, there's always some
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: you know, a fight broke out, cam Ward, Jeff Simmons,
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: you haven't fun with the D line of the Tennessee Titans.
- 1:38:04Speaker 2: I always have fun with those guys.
- 1:38:07Speaker 7: Jeff.
- 1:38:07Speaker 11: I think the sleeper is already key. That's my guy
- 1:38:10Speaker 11: right there. Even James Lynch, I'll be resting with him.
- 1:38:15Speaker 7: Bash.
- 1:38:16Speaker 11: We we all be having to a blast out there,
- 1:38:19Speaker 11: but I mean I'm ready. So you know, they think
- 1:38:22Speaker 11: everything is sacked of practice. I'm telling them it's not
- 1:38:24Speaker 11: a sack. So you know, if they ever get a
- 1:38:27Speaker 11: chance to, you know, play me the game, they gonna
- 1:38:28Speaker 11: find out.
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:38:31Speaker 5: But like questions, so anyone would do anything for an
- 1:38:35Speaker 5: ice cold bud? Like, what is something that cam Ward
- 1:38:37Speaker 5: would do anything for? Can't say family?
- 1:38:40Speaker 2: Would I do anything for? Yeah, I would do anything.
- 1:38:46Speaker 11: I'll probably say for football just from general. This is general,
- 1:38:52Speaker 11: this tout football is. I don't know where I'd be
- 1:38:55Speaker 11: without sports. That's why, you know, I think sports is
- 1:38:58Speaker 11: one of the greatest thing because to teach you so much,
- 1:39:01Speaker 11: whether you win or you lose, whether it's an individual
- 1:39:04Speaker 11: or team sport, but especially for football. I mean it's crazy,
- 1:39:09Speaker 11: how you know, just a little way, a little pisky
- 1:39:12Speaker 11: can change your person's life forever. No matter what sport
- 1:39:15Speaker 11: you play, Sports actually change your life, your family's life.
- 1:39:18Speaker 11: But I think I think it teaches you more outside
- 1:39:21Speaker 11: of just you know, giddy things that you want as well.
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: Cam Ward, Hey, thank you man, It's it's been cool
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: to watch them afar. I can tell that your parents
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: did a good job. You speak on them. I love
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: how you bring up examples of your dad and you
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: can see quotes from your dad. You can tell your
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: parents are proud and it fires me up. And thank
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: you for your time, Bro.
- 1:39:40Speaker 2: So I appreciate it.
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: Yeah, appreciate you man.
- 1:39:41Speaker 5: Thank you all the things he said, all things will says.
- 1:39:45Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:39:46Speaker 5: Hold on, do you want to ask a question?
- 1:39:48Speaker 2: Jack?
- 1:39:49Speaker 10: Oh?
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: Jack and Garrett.
- 1:39:51Speaker 5: I've been Titans fans their entire life.
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: Do you want to Jack?
- 1:39:55Speaker 5: Get the microphone in camp and in a preseason who
- 1:39:59Speaker 5: is shot to you the most on the new wide
- 1:40:01Speaker 5: receiver Core.
- 1:40:03Speaker 11: Mmm, there's not even a shock because I see it
- 1:40:10Speaker 11: every day. I say, I say gutter he would have he.
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: Snagged that one.

- 1:40:50Speaker 5: I'm gonna learn about you in the fly Man.
- 1:40:53Speaker 2: Well, yours is for you?
- 1:40:53Speaker 5: Eleven? Yeah, buddy, that's incredible.
- 1:40:57Speaker 2: Oh yeah, for sure.
- 1:40:58Speaker 5: I mean, how does it feel to be playing eleven
- 1:40:59Speaker 5: years in the NFL? Did you ever think that as
- 1:41:01Speaker 5: a kid?
- 1:41:01Speaker 2: No? I mean I just wanted to play eight.
- 1:41:04Speaker 13: So I mean, right now, I'm just in overtime pretty much.
- 1:41:07Speaker 5: So we're just bonus. We're in bonus hours right now.
- 1:41:10Speaker 5: Go drinking the next time you wake up in the morning,
- 1:41:12Speaker 5: You're like, I feel good.
- 1:41:13Speaker 13: Yeah, it's a little it's different, you know, obviously, like
- 1:41:16Speaker 13: your body changes and you got to be able to
- 1:41:18Speaker 13: adapt all that different type of stuff. But for the
- 1:41:21Speaker 13: most part, it's cool because I get to experience a
- 1:41:22Speaker 13: different city, different coaches, different teammates rather than just being
- 1:41:26Speaker 13: at the same place for so long.
- 1:41:28Speaker 5: Why did you just like, where did eight come from?
- 1:41:32Speaker 7: I just thought it was a good number.
- 1:41:34Speaker 13: My dad played for seven, and then my uncle played
- 1:41:36Speaker 13: for three, and so when people was just like, well,
- 1:41:39Speaker 13: how long would you want to play. I was just like,
- 1:41:40Speaker 13: I mean eight sounds yeah, eight sounds pretty both combined. Yeah,
- 1:41:45Speaker 13: he beat me when it came to getting drafted. He
- 1:41:47Speaker 13: got drafted in the second round and then I went
- 1:41:50Speaker 13: in the third. But for the most part, though, I mean,
- 1:41:52Speaker 13: I think it's been pretty cool. I think after eight
- 1:41:54Speaker 13: like the more that I played each year, I was like, man,
- 1:41:57Speaker 13: I want to play again, and I still got so
- 1:41:59Speaker 13: much that I could be to get better at. And
- 1:42:01Speaker 13: then even last year, when I looked at the film
- 1:42:03Speaker 13: and I was watching myself throughout the season, I thought
- 1:42:05Speaker 13: that I was still doing a lot of the same
- 1:42:07Speaker 13: things that I was doing with getting open. It was
- 1:42:09Speaker 13: just hard for the ball to find me with as
- 1:42:11Speaker 13: many great players that we had. And so that's why
- 1:42:13Speaker 13: I was like, well, I'm cool going into year eleven.
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: Yeah, what were some of the best What were some
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: of the best titbits of advice from your dad and uncle.
- 1:42:23Speaker 13: I mean, they gave me a lot of advice. It
- 1:42:25Speaker 13: just depends on the situation obviously. Like one of the
- 1:42:29Speaker 13: things that I would talk to my dad about is
- 1:42:31Speaker 13: just special teams. Like he was like, that's really the
- 1:42:34Speaker 13: biggest part about being able to play early because a
- 1:42:37Speaker 13: lot of times, if you're not first round or second round,
- 1:42:40Speaker 13: you got to be able to earn your way to
- 1:42:42Speaker 13: be able to play. And so when they drafted me
- 1:42:45Speaker 13: up in Seattle, I was already gonna be a starter
- 1:42:48Speaker 13: at punt return and kickoff return.
- 1:42:49Speaker 7: It was more just my job to lose.
- 1:42:52Speaker 13: And so the more that I was able to play
- 1:42:54Speaker 13: and I showcased what I could do if they dressed
- 1:42:56Speaker 13: four or they dressed five, I was also one of
- 1:42:59Speaker 13: those people that were dressed and at that point it
- 1:43:01Speaker 13: gave me the best shot to compete, to try to
- 1:43:04Speaker 13: be within those first three receivers. So I think that
- 1:43:07Speaker 13: was one of the biggest things my dad would always
- 1:43:09Speaker 13: talk about. And then another thing he said was just
- 1:43:13Speaker 13: don't worry about adjusting to them. Let them adjust to
- 1:43:15Speaker 13: you within the coaches, because a lot of times they
- 1:43:18Speaker 13: draft you because they loved what they.
- 1:43:20Speaker 7: Saw when they watched you in college.
- 1:43:22Speaker 13: And a lot of times when we get to the league,
- 1:43:24Speaker 13: we start trying to change our game to how we
- 1:43:26Speaker 13: think they want us to play. And he was like,
- 1:43:28Speaker 13: just go out there and just do the same things
- 1:43:30Speaker 13: that you were doing, and they'll, you know, kind of
- 1:43:32Speaker 13: like work around you, and so that was really one
- 1:43:36Speaker 13: of the biggest things.
- 1:43:37Speaker 5: What is the biggest difference culture that you've seen between
- 1:43:40Speaker 5: like the Tines in Seattle.
- 1:43:42Speaker 13: I mean, I think it just depends on the head coach,
- 1:43:44Speaker 13: because everybody's different, right, Like with Pete, it was come
- 1:43:48Speaker 13: as you are, like, I'm not gonna tell you what
- 1:43:50Speaker 13: you can and can't do, as long as it doesn't
- 1:43:52Speaker 13: become a detriment to the team. There was a lot
- 1:43:55Speaker 13: of like you had to be self aware and you
- 1:43:58Speaker 13: had to be self motivated because we did things that
- 1:44:02Speaker 13: was like in a competitive level, like shooting hoops and
- 1:44:05Speaker 13: doing all these things, and people can have so much fun,
- 1:44:07Speaker 13: but if you weren't doing the work, you weren't going
- 1:44:09Speaker 13: to be on the team. And so he would he
- 1:44:11Speaker 13: found ways to have fun but also to compete. And
- 1:44:15Speaker 13: the people who couldn't do both of those were the
- 1:44:17Speaker 13: ones that wouldn't make it because they just fell in
- 1:44:21Speaker 13: love with the fun and they didn't fall in love
- 1:44:23Speaker 13: with the competing aspect. And then you know when Mike came,
- 1:44:26Speaker 13: Mike's more of like a military style coach, so kind
- 1:44:29Speaker 13: of similar to when I was with Coach Snyder in college,
- 1:44:32Speaker 13: and so like a lot of his stuff and how
- 1:44:34Speaker 13: he goes about it is a lot different and it's
- 1:44:37Speaker 13: a lot more like time consuming and a lot more
- 1:44:40Speaker 13: work oriented. And then coming out here with Cali, it's like,
- 1:44:43Speaker 13: I think it's kind of the best of both worlds
- 1:44:45Speaker 13: because he's come from a lot of different places where
- 1:44:48Speaker 13: you know, he's been within the Peyton Manning systems, he's
- 1:44:52Speaker 13: been within Sensy and so kind of like understanding the
- 1:44:56Speaker 13: new age of how to be able to tailor things
- 1:44:58Speaker 13: to get the most out of your place. That's kind
- 1:45:00Speaker 13: of like what Calie is starting to do here.
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: You have a it sounds like you have a phenomenal
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: head on your shoulders and somebody who is you you
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: brought up the keyword being self aware. Like in the league,
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: I have a couple of different questions, but when it
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: comes to like you know your dad and uncle, I'm
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: sure you've got a lot of different types of game,
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: but you're you're you're known for like when you catch
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: the ball, if you get close to a hit, you'll
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: go to the ground. Like to me, I'm seeing that
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: by the way, I'm seeing that as like you understand
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: that your best abilities availability is probably a reason why
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: you've lasted so long in the game. You're also somebody
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: off the football field who optimized himself through poetry. You
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: also have a real estate portfolio in Tulsa, so it
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: seems like you've picked up a lot of things around
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: the game too. How can I allow the game to
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: work for me on the field and stay available at
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: all times and allow the game to work for me
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: off the field at all times. Was this something that
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: you were aware and trying to jump into and be
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: intentional about, like right out of the gate when you
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: came into the NFL.
- 1:45:58Speaker 13: I mean, well, I think football I's always been a
- 1:46:00Speaker 13: stepping stone of like what you should be wanting to
- 1:46:04Speaker 13: do whenever you're done. I think a lot of times
- 1:46:06Speaker 13: what we do is we put ourselves in a difficult
- 1:46:09Speaker 13: spot because as soon as we're done playing, then we
- 1:46:11Speaker 13: want to start the next thing, and it's a lot
- 1:46:14Speaker 13: more difficult because the fan bases start to leave because
- 1:46:17Speaker 13: they start tailoring and going to different players. Then all
- 1:46:20Speaker 13: of a sudden, maybe certain organizations may not help those
- 1:46:23Speaker 13: players out as much because they were, like you, never
- 1:46:25Speaker 13: took advantage of the opportunities in the stuff that they
- 1:46:29Speaker 13: had that was there with the marketing, the branding and
- 1:46:31Speaker 13: all that different type of stuff. And I think for me,
- 1:46:34Speaker 13: the more that I've just played. Obviously, one of the
- 1:46:37Speaker 13: coaches that I had in college, his name was Andre Coleman.
- 1:46:39Speaker 13: He would talk about how like, man, look at Isaac
- 1:46:43Speaker 13: Bruce and Tory Hunter, Tory Holt. I can't think of
- 1:46:49Speaker 13: it right now. He was like, look at Tory Hold
- 1:46:51Speaker 13: and Isaac Bruce, Like they catch the ball, they fall,
- 1:46:54Speaker 13: and you know, they get what they can get and
- 1:46:56Speaker 13: they live to play another play. And you know, even
- 1:46:58Speaker 13: in college, I'll still catch the ball running. I wasn't
- 1:47:01Speaker 13: falling as much unless it was like three or four people.
- 1:47:04Speaker 13: But it's not until you experience like some of those
- 1:47:06Speaker 13: gruesome injuries that make you start to reflect and do
- 1:47:09Speaker 13: some of those things. So like in college, even my
- 1:47:12Speaker 13: freshman year, I ended up having like a last rated kidney,
- 1:47:16Speaker 13: and you know, I think I still scored, but it
- 1:47:18Speaker 13: was just the fact that I was out like the
- 1:47:20Speaker 13: last two games or whatnot, just because I had a
- 1:47:23Speaker 13: lace rated kidney. And then all of a sudden when
- 1:47:25Speaker 13: I got to the league, even though it was one
- 1:47:27Speaker 13: of those freak incidents, I had caught a ball against
- 1:47:30Speaker 13: the Cardinals, and then he landed on my leg and
- 1:47:32Speaker 13: then I had a tip fib compound fracture, and then
- 1:47:36Speaker 13: all of a sudden, you know, you learn over time
- 1:47:38Speaker 13: that a lot of people don't come back from that,
- 1:47:41Speaker 13: and so now that I was able to come back
- 1:47:43Speaker 13: from that, you start to realize that the biggest availability
- 1:47:47Speaker 13: is durability, and you know, and vice versa, durability is
- 1:47:50Speaker 13: the best availability. So the more that you're out there,
- 1:47:53Speaker 13: the harder it is to be able to try to
- 1:47:56Speaker 13: replace you because they haven't been able to see. Certain
- 1:47:59Speaker 13: people take as many reps to be able to have
- 1:48:01Speaker 13: a chance to get in front of you, but as
- 1:48:03Speaker 13: soon as there's something wrong with the injury, or even
- 1:48:06Speaker 13: if it's minor or gruesome, it gives them a chance
- 1:48:09Speaker 13: to be able to look at everybody else. And so
- 1:48:11Speaker 13: I think for me, I just wanted to try to
- 1:48:14Speaker 13: be out there the most that I can. And sometimes
- 1:48:17Speaker 13: you sacrifice one, two, three yards, but if it's a
- 1:48:20Speaker 13: third down or a fourth down, you know, you got
- 1:48:22Speaker 13: to take those hits to be able to get it.
- 1:48:24Speaker 13: So you still got to be smart in the aspect
- 1:48:26Speaker 13: of when the fall and when not to. But it's
- 1:48:29Speaker 13: also based off of the quarterback, right, like, how fast
- 1:48:32Speaker 13: can they get the ball in your hands. The faster
- 1:48:34Speaker 13: they get the ball in your hands, the more you
- 1:48:35Speaker 13: could be able to make the move. There's sometimes when
- 1:48:37Speaker 13: it's third and four, you just need to secure the catch,
- 1:48:40Speaker 13: so you might body catch it just to make sure
- 1:48:42Speaker 13: you secure the catch, just to move the sticks, because
- 1:48:45Speaker 13: sometimes just when we want to get more that things
- 1:48:48Speaker 13: start to get taken away, like the ball.
- 1:48:51Speaker 5: You talk about quarterbacks getting the ball out, putting in
- 1:48:53Speaker 5: certain places. What have you seen from a guy like
- 1:48:55Speaker 5: cambe Ward this early in his career.
- 1:48:57Speaker 13: I think he does a great job and being able
- 1:48:59Speaker 13: to leave the receiver. He definitely knows how to throw
- 1:49:02Speaker 13: receivers open. And the more and more that we talk
- 1:49:04Speaker 13: and communicate and connect, we kind of get a feel
- 1:49:07Speaker 13: of what I like, what he likes, and what's gonna
- 1:49:10Speaker 13: be the middle ground to be able to get the
- 1:49:12Speaker 13: best out of both worlds. But you know, everybody knows
- 1:49:15Speaker 13: now he definitely comes in early. But I mean he
- 1:49:17Speaker 13: lives sleep breeze football, and I think as a rookie,
- 1:49:21Speaker 13: like the biggest thing that could be able to help
- 1:49:24Speaker 13: your growth is just the mentality of understanding defenses and
- 1:49:29Speaker 13: understanding how the league works because it is a copycat league.
- 1:49:33Speaker 13: And so the more that you can understand how defense
- 1:49:35Speaker 13: is playing the NFL and how the offenses work within
- 1:49:39Speaker 13: who's your first reads, your second read, your third read,
- 1:49:42Speaker 13: because even though they may be similar plays like college,
- 1:49:46Speaker 13: in certain systems, there's different reads depending on who the
- 1:49:49Speaker 13: coach says you should look at first, but then in
- 1:49:51Speaker 13: the league, it's a whole different read based off of
- 1:49:54Speaker 13: that same place. So the more he's able to understand
- 1:49:57Speaker 13: the logic of how the NFL works, which he's been
- 1:49:59Speaker 13: doing great job of, I think that's just gonna speed
- 1:50:02Speaker 13: up the process of him being more than ready.
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: What is your off the field between poetry and real estate?
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: What fulfills you the most? What do you look at
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: and you're like, oh, this is I'm proud of this
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: work that I've done.
- 1:50:15Speaker 13: You know, I never really paid attention to much of
- 1:50:17Speaker 13: the work. But I mean, if I'm not doing poetry
- 1:50:20Speaker 13: or if I'm not doing some type of real estate,
- 1:50:23Speaker 13: I mean I'm just watching TV. Like I grew up
- 1:50:26Speaker 13: in the way me and my mom were. We always
- 1:50:28Speaker 13: just watch TV. We watch shows, we would watch movies,
- 1:50:32Speaker 13: and so like that's literally what I do. Like my
- 1:50:34Speaker 13: wife gets mad because it's like she can't do it
- 1:50:36Speaker 13: all the time. But like I could literally sit at
- 1:50:38Speaker 13: the house from sun up to sundown and just watch
- 1:50:41Speaker 13: TV because I love watching shows. I wanted to be
- 1:50:45Speaker 13: like it's like growing up, I wanted to be like
- 1:50:48Speaker 13: a detective, like a cop, not a cop, but like
- 1:50:51Speaker 13: a lawyer. And so I would watch shows and movies
- 1:50:55Speaker 13: and try to figure out the whole point of what
- 1:50:58Speaker 13: this writer was thinking of before they would do it,
- 1:51:00Speaker 13: and it would get to the point where like I
- 1:51:02Speaker 13: already knew what would happen and I wouldn't even pay
- 1:51:04Speaker 13: attention and so like, but I love doing it because
- 1:51:07Speaker 13: it's almost like in football you're scouting. You're trying to
- 1:51:10Speaker 13: figure out what the coordinators are going to do and
- 1:51:12Speaker 13: how defenses play, and you try to figure out how
- 1:51:15Speaker 13: the story's going to end before you even started.
- 1:51:18Speaker 5: What kind of shows? What kind of shows were watching
- 1:51:20Speaker 5: right now? That we just love this guy first off?
- 1:51:22Speaker 5: Will every time, yeah have you seen this show? Have
- 1:51:26Speaker 5: you seen that show? And I'm always just three years
- 1:51:28Speaker 5: behind everybody else.
- 1:51:30Speaker 13: Oh yeah, I mean right now, I hadn't really been
- 1:51:34Speaker 13: I watched Love Island with my wife, so she wanted
- 1:51:38Speaker 13: to watch Yeah, So I was like, I'll watched that
- 1:51:42Speaker 13: a little bit. But I already had started this show
- 1:51:45Speaker 13: a while ago. But one of my homeboys is watching
- 1:51:47Speaker 13: Blind Spots, So I was like, all right, I'll watch
- 1:51:50Speaker 13: blind Spot a little bit. But I mean just some
- 1:51:53Speaker 13: of the shows that I loved watching, like at one
- 1:51:55Speaker 13: point like Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder, Money
- 1:52:01Speaker 13: heightst Definitely that that was in my top three.
- 1:52:04Speaker 1: For sure, especially during COVID.
- 1:52:06Speaker 13: Yeah, some of the sleepers that a lot of us
- 1:52:10Speaker 13: probably wouldn't watch. It's like the Originals, Vampire Diaries, like Legacy,
- 1:52:16Speaker 13: like all of.
- 1:52:17Speaker 7: That is fire. I ain't gonna lie.
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: That's pretty good.
- 1:52:22Speaker 7: Where do I want to go with this?
- 1:52:23Speaker 13: Prison Break figure feel like an all time favorite?
- 1:52:27Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:52:28Speaker 13: Lost, I mean I could go on for days because
- 1:52:31Speaker 13: next Yeah, you're crazy if you're watching.
- 1:52:35Speaker 5: It's a good show.
- 1:52:36Speaker 7: They just came up with another one.
- 1:52:40Speaker 5: I thought the acting was horrendous.
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: Dexter was my first Netflix show that I consumed. Then
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: it was Prison Break. That's kind of how I got
- 1:52:49Speaker 1: into the streaming services. How about Severance?
- 1:52:52Speaker 2: Severance, have you watched that yet?
- 1:52:55Speaker 9: No?
- 1:52:55Speaker 13: I don't think I watched severing. Shit, it's a lot
- 1:52:58Speaker 13: of shows that I've watched, and I'm like, I can't
- 1:53:00Speaker 13: think of right now because it's I can't think of
- 1:53:03Speaker 13: a one that's on Hulu. But it's a lot of
- 1:53:05Speaker 13: different shows. Nah, it's the one when it's like Paradise.
- 1:53:10Speaker 13: I had watched Paradise. It's like it's like something's about
- 1:53:14Speaker 13: to happen in the world. So they go down like
- 1:53:16Speaker 13: underground and it's a whole world there that they're living in.
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: Is that good?
- 1:53:21Speaker 7: Is that one?
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: Good?
- 1:53:21Speaker 2: G it's a good one?
- 1:53:24Speaker 7: Season two?
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: How many how many teammates that you up? Like eight
- 1:53:28Speaker 1: Tyler helped me buy a house? Man, let me get
- 1:53:31Speaker 1: in on what you got?
- 1:53:32Speaker 2: Oh, probably a couple.
- 1:53:34Speaker 1: Do you work with any current teammates or former teammates?
- 1:53:38Speaker 3: Oh?
- 1:53:40Speaker 13: Yeah, in a sense like I was able to help
- 1:53:43Speaker 13: about some probably don't want their names named. So I
- 1:53:47Speaker 13: probably helped one, two, three, four. I might have helped
- 1:53:51Speaker 13: like five or six players, maybe seven or eight buy
- 1:53:54Speaker 13: a house, and so I helped one of them. I
- 1:53:56Speaker 13: helped two of them sell house, like, so it just depends.
- 1:54:00Speaker 13: Even if I'm not able to help them, I can
- 1:54:02Speaker 13: go refer them to somebody and we could still get
- 1:54:05Speaker 13: it done, but as far as me like working for
- 1:54:07Speaker 13: them and helping them buy it or sell it, definitely
- 1:54:10Speaker 13: probably about six to eight.
- 1:54:12Speaker 5: Who is who is the guy that came on the
- 1:54:14Speaker 5: podcast had that incident with Percy Harbn Oh Golden Tate?
- 1:54:18Speaker 5: Golden Tate, were you in the locker room?
- 1:54:20Speaker 1: We're going I was still at k State.
- 1:54:23Speaker 13: Oh yeah, so when I ended up getting drafted, Golden
- 1:54:26Speaker 13: Tate had just signed to go to Detroit.
- 1:54:28Speaker 1: Got you Kse State? I got y'all taking the Big
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: twelve this year.
- 1:54:32Speaker 5: Yeah, we're gonna see.
- 1:54:33Speaker 11: We'll see what they look like versus Iowa.
- 1:54:35Speaker 2: State on Saturday in Ireland.
- 1:54:39Speaker 1: I feel good. Yeah, we're about We're one minute away,
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: and listen, I want to respect.
- 1:54:43Speaker 5: Respect Paul.
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: Mandatory breakfast.
- 1:54:46Speaker 5: Mandatory breakfast. We appreciate you. Take the time is hell
- 1:54:52Speaker 5: and so for you to come and sit here with us,
- 1:54:53Speaker 5: hang out for a little bit and get out of
- 1:54:55Speaker 5: your routine, it means a lot. So we really appreciate it.
- 1:54:58Speaker 7: Yeah, I appreciate you.
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: Man. All right, we interrupt this episode to bring you
- 1:55:04Speaker 1: dude wipes. Are you fumbling the ball when it comes
- 1:55:05Speaker 1: to getting a confident clean back in your end zone,
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: make the right play, call an audible and switch from
- 1:55:10Speaker 1: dry toilet paper to wet extra large dude wives. Why
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: it's simple. Wetter just cleans better, and dude wipes are
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: wet and extra large so they clear never smear your rear.
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: So when you got to go number two, be sure
- 1:55:22Speaker 1: to bring the number one product and clean Dude Wipes
- 1:55:25Speaker 1: the goat of cleaning your keyster available on Amazon and
- 1:55:27Speaker 1: that Walmart nation wide. Dude Wipes best clean pants down.
- 1:55:31Speaker 7: Back to the episode, you know how that feels?
- 1:55:34Speaker 2: Come on?
- 1:55:36Speaker 7: All right? All right?
- 1:55:39Speaker 1: No, no, he was born with the pads off.
- 1:55:43Speaker 5: Yeah, first round year, I played every preseason game, the
- 1:55:45Speaker 5: full game.
- 1:55:47Speaker 1: It was.
- 1:55:48Speaker 7: It was different back then. It was a little old
- 1:55:50Speaker 7: school for sure.
- 1:55:51Speaker 5: Yeah, but you know I'm with you guys. Yeah, under
- 1:55:54Speaker 5: Lesson was.
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: Guaranteed though as a first rounder.
- 1:55:56Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, his life was set up. How's it been.
- 1:56:01Speaker 5: How's camp? You're making friends?
- 1:56:03Speaker 7: Yeah, dude, it's the group is getting a lot more
- 1:56:06Speaker 7: tight knit. Camp's been great. Just been just been grinding,
- 1:56:11Speaker 7: like you know how I always have, and getting opportunities
- 1:56:14Speaker 7: with obviously Lloyd being down, he's coming back, so whatever
- 1:56:19Speaker 7: way I can help out, that's how I've been doing.
- 1:56:21Speaker 5: Man, it seemed like in that Bucks game you were
- 1:56:23Speaker 5: holding your own around there.
- 1:56:24Speaker 2: Seems like you're.
- 1:56:24Speaker 5: Tossing some kids over the yard.
- 1:56:25Speaker 7: Actually, I mean we we held up pretty good for camp.
- 1:56:29Speaker 7: He was able to have time to sling it. So
- 1:56:32Speaker 7: it felt good to stack a couple of weeks and
- 1:56:35Speaker 7: go against some good competition in practice.
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: What year is this for you?
- 1:56:39Speaker 7: This is year nine? Your training camp nine?
- 1:56:42Speaker 1: Let's go, bro. Isn't it fucking crazy that you're in
- 1:56:46Speaker 1: this building?
- 1:56:47Speaker 7: It is?
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: It's after you know, when'd you come here?
- 1:56:50Speaker 7: Twenty eighteen, twenty seventeen, seventeen was drafted under Malarkey?
- 1:56:56Speaker 2: That was? What year was that for you?
- 1:56:58Speaker 5: A third? Going to my third?
- 1:57:00Speaker 7: Fourth, fourth, like Derrick Henry's second year, Like I was
- 1:57:03Speaker 7: here with I tell people all the time, like the
- 1:57:06Speaker 7: first quarterback I snapped to is Matt Castle. And then
- 1:57:10Speaker 7: they're like, oh, dude, you're pretty old, and I'm like, yeah,
- 1:57:12Speaker 7: I'm getting up there, like I just turned thirty one.
- 1:57:14Speaker 1: Easy if you're in that locker room in two thousand,
- 1:57:17Speaker 1: if you're what's far? No? That was like I mean
- 1:57:21Speaker 1: and everything like, no, it could be a coffee too.
- 1:57:27Speaker 1: They don't want to yea, you don't want to risk
- 1:57:28Speaker 1: the coffee one? Yeah, did have it again. So back
- 1:57:33Speaker 1: in twenty eighteen, it's like you look around the locker room,
- 1:57:35Speaker 1: It's like, which dude in this locker room is going
- 1:57:37Speaker 1: to be here in twenty twenty five, Like, who's got
- 1:57:40Speaker 1: Corey Levin on the bingo card?
- 1:57:42Speaker 7: No one, there's nobody else.
- 1:57:45Speaker 2: There's nobody else.
- 1:57:46Speaker 5: Kind of the longest ten you're tying, you just shoe
- 1:57:48Speaker 5: a cooke a little break? Was that two years?
- 1:57:50Speaker 7: Uh yeah, twenty twenty, twenty nineteen and twenty twenty.
- 1:57:56Speaker 5: Corey is the one of those casts that like left
- 1:57:58Speaker 5: and came back and he's like, this is this offensive
- 1:58:00Speaker 5: line room is ten out of ten compared to everywhere
- 1:58:03Speaker 5: else out there?
- 1:58:03Speaker 7: Oh yeah, yeah, I don't know. It's the standard that
- 1:58:09Speaker 7: was kind of set and uh, just kind of the
- 1:58:12Speaker 7: camaraderie that was kind of built. I don't know, probably
- 1:58:15Speaker 7: when you first showed up and there was probably a
- 1:58:17Speaker 7: good room going before you.
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: That's a good locker room guy right there. Given credit
- 1:58:22Speaker 1: to just a past generation cat.
- 1:58:24Speaker 7: I mean, we're gonna try to uphold how it's been
- 1:58:26Speaker 7: year after year, and obviously new guys, new personalities come in.
- 1:58:30Speaker 7: But it seems like, you know, around here, they've always
- 1:58:34Speaker 7: got in linemen that generally enjoyed being around each other.
- 1:58:38Speaker 5: So you know what, you know what Cory's got, He's
- 1:58:40Speaker 5: got the like he's able to hit the cats out
- 1:58:43Speaker 5: like from urban areas all like every different part of
- 1:58:46Speaker 5: the world.
- 1:58:47Speaker 1: He's a gatekeeper.
- 1:58:48Speaker 5: He's a gate keeper. He's their new Ben Jones, because
- 1:58:51Speaker 5: our locker room was real shaky until Ben got their
- 1:58:55Speaker 5: year three Blue guy.
- 1:58:56Speaker 1: Glue Guy, glue Guy.
- 1:58:58Speaker 5: Blue Guy. You feel confident about the season, about everything
- 1:59:01Speaker 5: like that.
- 1:59:02Speaker 7: I feel good.
- 1:59:03Speaker 5: I mean yeah, I mean you be like fifty three
- 1:59:05Speaker 5: is locked.
- 1:59:06Speaker 7: I mean, you know it's not. I mean I was
- 1:59:10Speaker 7: not going for sure. Anything can happen, but I mean
- 1:59:12Speaker 7: I feel like I'm in a good spot as far
- 1:59:15Speaker 7: as my role on this team. I just like, again,
- 1:59:19Speaker 7: I just want to keep growing on it, see what
- 1:59:21Speaker 7: happens with it. I got. I have a lot of
- 1:59:24Speaker 7: tread on the tires still, so yeah, I just want
- 1:59:27Speaker 7: to play.
- 1:59:27Speaker 1: Obviously here going into a year nine, give remind remind
- 1:59:31Speaker 1: the listeners out there that, like, what was it that
- 1:59:33Speaker 1: one or two year period to where what was it
- 1:59:36Speaker 1: the Bears.
- 1:59:37Speaker 7: Right so I uh was that. I got released here
- 1:59:40Speaker 7: in twenty nineteen, went over to Denver, was put down
- 1:59:45Speaker 7: on peace squad after like two weeks, and then got
- 1:59:49Speaker 7: off their peace squad. Chicago picked me up with like
- 1:59:52Speaker 7: four games left in twenty nineteen, and then COVID hits
- 1:59:57Speaker 7: we don't do Ota is nothing, we just show up
- 1:59:59Speaker 7: for camp. They released me. I was like, Hey, I'm
- 2:00:02Speaker 7: going to go to the Patriots, be on their practice squad.
- 2:00:05Speaker 7: I was like, that's going to look good on my resume.
- 2:00:07Speaker 7: You know, someone's going to want to get me from there.
- 2:00:10Speaker 7: Ended up hating football, wanted to go home, went home.
- 2:00:13Speaker 1: Why j football so much after New England?
- 2:00:16Speaker 2: I mean it was just like, I.
- 2:00:19Speaker 7: Don't know, I had already gotten released and bounced around
- 2:00:22Speaker 7: a couple of times that in that past year, Like
- 2:00:25Speaker 7: my son was back home. He was maybe seven months
- 2:00:28Speaker 7: old at the time, my first son. I don't know.
- 2:00:31Speaker 7: I just started to kind of see the different side
- 2:00:34Speaker 7: of the league and I was like, man, I don't
- 2:00:37Speaker 7: have to do this anymore. But so I decided to
- 2:00:40Speaker 7: go home. And then that was the year that Derek
- 2:00:44Speaker 7: went for two K and I was just in here
- 2:00:47Speaker 7: in Nashville just watching them and being around the buzz,
- 2:00:50Speaker 7: and I was like, I still miss it. So then
- 2:00:53Speaker 7: I started training again, probably like after the New year,
- 2:00:57Speaker 7: and then signed with the Jets in April. But I
- 2:01:00Speaker 7: had already gotten down to like when I stopped playing.
- 2:01:03Speaker 7: I was maybe like two fifty five, two sixty within
- 2:01:07Speaker 7: like three months, and then I got back up to
- 2:01:09Speaker 7: like eighty five when I signed with the Jets.
- 2:01:13Speaker 5: Was there a defining moment when you're bouncing back and
- 2:01:17Speaker 5: forth of the idea of playing or you're maybe not
- 2:01:20Speaker 5: giving your own football where you're like, I'm gonna prove
- 2:01:23Speaker 5: the haters wrong. Like maybe you were late night playing
- 2:01:27Speaker 5: a risk game. Somebody comes at you and you're like,
- 2:01:29Speaker 5: I gotta show with these cats, I gotta I gotta
- 2:01:33Speaker 5: re energize my career.
- 2:01:34Speaker 7: Basically, Taylor tried to call me soft.
- 2:01:38Speaker 1: Muff and top Yeah you were, yeah, go ahead.
- 2:01:43Speaker 7: It was something along those lines, but it kind of
- 2:01:45Speaker 7: sparked something in me to be like, you know what,
- 2:01:47Speaker 7: fuck this guy, I'm not a muffin top whatever business.
- 2:01:51Speaker 5: That was kind of mean when yeah, no doubt, but
- 2:01:55Speaker 5: obviously it was needed at the time.
- 2:01:58Speaker 7: I mean, at the time, it sparked something, and it
- 2:02:01Speaker 7: definitely got me.
- 2:02:03Speaker 5: Say, we played risk until like two in the morning,
- 2:02:06Speaker 5: and at six am you did the group chat with
- 2:02:08Speaker 5: at the field.
- 2:02:09Speaker 7: I mean, I don't know. It was kind of it
- 2:02:12Speaker 7: helped me. It helped motivate me a little bit. I
- 2:02:14Speaker 7: was already kind of getting started back and then I
- 2:02:17Speaker 7: was just like, you know what, just add a little
- 2:02:19Speaker 7: bit of fuel.
- 2:02:20Speaker 5: It was.
- 2:02:20Speaker 2: It was great.
- 2:02:21Speaker 7: A little something, yeah, just a little something. Yeah.
- 2:02:26Speaker 2: What else?
- 2:02:27Speaker 1: What's your favorite snack during film?
- 2:02:29Speaker 7: My favorite snack during film? I don't really snack much,
- 2:02:32Speaker 7: but if it's afternoon, I got to have a coffee
- 2:02:35Speaker 7: so that I have energy for my kids when I
- 2:02:38Speaker 7: get home.
- 2:02:39Speaker 1: How is that balancing the football life and dad life.
- 2:02:42Speaker 7: It's kind of. I got to get back into it
- 2:02:44Speaker 7: because we were just on the road for like ten days,
- 2:02:47Speaker 7: so I was able to you know, practice, do whatever,
- 2:02:49Speaker 7: and then just bullshit after you know, and whatever. But
- 2:02:52Speaker 7: now when I go home, the boys are ready to
- 2:02:55Speaker 7: see me for like, I mean, we get home at
- 2:02:57Speaker 7: a decent time, so I have a good few to
- 2:03:01Speaker 7: there's just wrestling and doing whatever the hell they want,
- 2:03:05Speaker 7: you know what I mean.
- 2:03:05Speaker 1: Yeah, but your football you go home, you got to
- 2:03:07Speaker 1: be dead. They put them down. You probably got to
- 2:03:09Speaker 1: go back to the football mode to prepare for the
- 2:03:10Speaker 1: next day. Yeah, it's a different life than when you
- 2:03:13Speaker 1: have a gift and whatnot.
- 2:03:14Speaker 7: When you put the kids down and you check it
- 2:03:16Speaker 7: out if there's anything weird. But typically, you know, by
- 2:03:20Speaker 7: this point in camp nothing, We've installed everything, so you know,
- 2:03:24Speaker 7: it's not it's not too crazy. But obviously we're playing
- 2:03:28Speaker 7: Minnesota here Friday, so you take a look at the
- 2:03:30Speaker 7: rushers and stuff like that, and then you by that
- 2:03:33Speaker 7: time it's freaking ten o'clock. It's ready time to go
- 2:03:36Speaker 7: to bed.
- 2:03:36Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, wake up early.
- 2:03:38Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 2:03:39Speaker 5: Do you have any like superstitions locker room things you
- 2:03:42Speaker 5: have to do before a game?
- 2:03:45Speaker 7: I mean nothing, nothing major besides like putting the putting
- 2:03:49Speaker 7: the pants in the same you know, same way all
- 2:03:51Speaker 7: the time. You know, I'd always take like an ice
- 2:03:55Speaker 7: bath before a game. Nothing crazy like that.
- 2:03:58Speaker 5: Just you have a couple of check boxes.
- 2:04:00Speaker 7: They took away our our smelling salts, so we got
- 2:04:03Speaker 7: to provide our own, you know how that I don't know.
- 2:04:08Speaker 7: The club can't provide them for you. I think it.
- 2:04:11Speaker 7: I think they said it mass concussion symptoms, so they
- 2:04:16Speaker 7: don't want those anymore.
- 2:04:17Speaker 5: But they're like, hey, you can go buy your own
- 2:04:18Speaker 5: and put in your locker.
- 2:04:19Speaker 7: Yeah, so do you have your own? Josh Wiley provided
- 2:04:23Speaker 7: some last last week at all times there, I mean,
- 2:04:27Speaker 7: they're just not as strong as as the old ones,
- 2:04:30Speaker 7: you know what I mean.
- 2:04:33Speaker 5: Ones in a jar now where you kind of that's.
- 2:04:35Speaker 7: What you had. They were just loosing the jar and
- 2:04:37Speaker 7: it's just kind of but I think it's not the same.
- 2:04:39Speaker 7: It's not it's not the same as just cracking it
- 2:04:42Speaker 7: on the side. Especially you know that before kickoff, man,
- 2:04:46Speaker 7: that's like special, that's that's a special moment moment.
- 2:04:50Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like accepting the body of Christ before you
- 2:04:53Speaker 1: go out there, just.
- 2:04:56Speaker 5: Smelling at all time.
- 2:04:57Speaker 2: Movie.
- 2:04:57Speaker 5: All right, let's who's uh, number one bro on the team?
- 2:05:01Speaker 7: Number one bro on the team.
- 2:05:03Speaker 5: He's a guy that's like everybody would love this cat.
- 2:05:07Speaker 7: Everybody would love this. I mean, there's there's lots of
- 2:05:09Speaker 7: guys on that team, uh that are that are bro maybe.
- 2:05:16Speaker 7: I mean, I think everyone enjoys Mason Kinzie. He's one
- 2:05:20Speaker 7: of those guys.
- 2:05:21Speaker 5: That he's another guy that just can't kill.
- 2:05:23Speaker 7: Yeah, I think everyone enjoys him. I mean, I would
- 2:05:29Speaker 7: like to say myself. I think everyone enjoys.
- 2:05:35Speaker 1: All right, we're just a few boys sit on the
- 2:05:36Speaker 1: back of the tailgate just catching up. What are you
- 2:05:39Speaker 1: seeing out of cam Ward as a rookie? Like what
- 2:05:42Speaker 1: do you notice trait wise that you're like super impressed.
- 2:05:44Speaker 7: With, pretend cameras on just the bounce back, Like if
- 2:05:49Speaker 7: he has a bad throw or you know, a bad period,
- 2:05:53Speaker 7: the next one, he's trying to bounce back with the
- 2:05:55Speaker 7: same confidence that he went into the first period with
- 2:06:00Speaker 7: and he's confident to make any throw he wants to.
- 2:06:03Speaker 7: I'd say the confidence in the next play mentality, how
- 2:06:06Speaker 7: is it?
- 2:06:07Speaker 1: What have you seen from like leadership wise, being that
- 2:06:09Speaker 1: young coming into a locker room full of dads.
- 2:06:14Speaker 7: You know, I think we're all the main thing is
- 2:06:17Speaker 7: we're all bought in for, you know, the main goal.
- 2:06:21Speaker 7: And I think obviously, you know, anyone's going to listen
- 2:06:24Speaker 7: to the quarterback to the offense, and you know, being
- 2:06:27Speaker 7: the first overall pick, like staff did their due diligence
- 2:06:31Speaker 7: to make sure this guy had all the qualities he
- 2:06:33Speaker 7: needed to be the first overall pick. So there's merit
- 2:06:37Speaker 7: in that you know, we're going to listen to him
- 2:06:39Speaker 7: when he speaks. He brought us up after the first
- 2:06:43Speaker 7: Atlanta practice and kind of told us like, hey, that
- 2:06:46Speaker 7: wasn't our standard whatnot. And when he talks, we listened,
- 2:06:49Speaker 7: So we were all listening. We came back in the
- 2:06:51Speaker 7: second Atlanta practice and overall had a better day. So
- 2:06:55Speaker 7: I think, you know, it doesn't matter with this group
- 2:06:59Speaker 7: age wise. We we need leaders at all levels, at all,
- 2:07:05Speaker 7: you know, at all ages, and I think he's one
- 2:07:07Speaker 7: of them.
- 2:07:07Speaker 5: When you guys, when you see Cam and Jeff getting
- 2:07:11Speaker 5: into it that the media is probably blown away out
- 2:07:14Speaker 5: of proportion? Was the offensive line doing in that moment?
- 2:07:17Speaker 1: Did you get a couple in there? You get a
- 2:07:18Speaker 1: couple of blows?
- 2:07:19Speaker 5: Well, you gotta, you gotta. I mean, Jeff's a big
- 2:07:21Speaker 5: ass cat. You may be sneaking from the side like,
- 2:07:23Speaker 5: oh that.
- 2:07:23Speaker 7: Was yeah exactly was in there right away.
- 2:07:28Speaker 5: But I mean probably the guy you want to.
- 2:07:30Speaker 7: Say, yeah, he's he's big as ship, but we uh,
- 2:07:35Speaker 7: I don't know, Like there was just some push and
- 2:07:37Speaker 7: shoving and then all of a sudden it just kind
- 2:07:39Speaker 7: of you know, scrums up and obviously like there's guys
- 2:07:43Speaker 7: way bigger than me. I'm kind of outside, what the
- 2:07:45Speaker 7: hell's going on.
- 2:07:46Speaker 1: But Corey's like shoving backwards, like he.
- 2:07:51Speaker 5: Grabs one guy and goes you and me, we'll just
- 2:07:53Speaker 5: think doing something quit.
- 2:07:55Speaker 7: Hey, hey, knock it out, knock it out. But no,
- 2:07:58Speaker 7: the I to me, it kind of seems like the
- 2:08:01Speaker 7: relationship they have like a big brother little brother relationship,
- 2:08:04Speaker 7: and little brother just kind of upset Jeff a little
- 2:08:08Speaker 7: bit and you just kind of bark back. It wasn't
- 2:08:11Speaker 7: anything crazy. It was just a a little pushing and shoving.
- 2:08:15Speaker 1: I need to see you hitting. Hitting Whenever you get
- 2:08:20Speaker 1: a pancake in the game or something.
- 2:08:22Speaker 7: Yeah, I'll do it like you do that.
- 2:08:24Speaker 1: You hit that. It's like that's when you see somebody,
- 2:08:26Speaker 1: you see an offensive lineman hit that celebration Like, Okay,
- 2:08:29Speaker 1: the culture and the swag here is growing, look it off,
- 2:08:33Speaker 1: get a pancake and then just start.
- 2:08:35Speaker 7: It's a good sally for sure. It's nice. It's nice.
- 2:08:39Speaker 5: Miss you.
- 2:08:40Speaker 7: I miss you, guys man, I need to It's been great.
- 2:08:43Speaker 1: Pat the chat fire up more just getting on the
- 2:08:45Speaker 1: stream going for risk.
- 2:08:47Speaker 5: Brad does the best job of keeping that stream together
- 2:08:49Speaker 5: or that.
- 2:08:49Speaker 7: He's the he's the group chats glue guy.
- 2:08:51Speaker 1: He is. Then it will pop in every now and
- 2:08:54Speaker 1: then pop in, but it's mostly to shame us for something.
- 2:08:58Speaker 5: And then he's onward and upward.
- 2:09:00Speaker 2: Cork.
- 2:09:00Speaker 5: He's just always in the shadows.
- 2:09:02Speaker 7: I'm lurking. I'm lurking, sure.
- 2:09:04Speaker 5: Always, But we do got off season, we got hit
- 2:09:06Speaker 5: the restream for sure, Let's do it.
- 2:09:09Speaker 7: You're nine.
- 2:09:12Speaker 1: The league longer than guys sitting next to you.
- 2:09:15Speaker 2: How that feel.
- 2:09:18Speaker 1: He's in your nine? He had to go another one
- 2:09:20Speaker 1: after that.
- 2:09:21Speaker 9: Yeah, it's tough.
- 2:09:22Speaker 1: That's tough business, trying to get to them double digits.
- 2:09:25Speaker 9: Crazy first.
- 2:09:28Speaker 5: Next, Hey, next, nine attends the hardest. Everyone knows that
- 2:09:32Speaker 5: nine attends the hardest one.
- 2:09:34Speaker 7: I mean every year they're bringing in younger and these
- 2:09:37Speaker 7: young guys they bring in these days are so freaking
- 2:09:39Speaker 7: strong and fast. Dude, It's it's unreal. But you just,
- 2:09:42Speaker 7: I don't know. You gotta do what you do to
- 2:09:44Speaker 7: to hang on.
- 2:09:45Speaker 5: I guess, And is there a piece of you that's like,
- 2:09:48Speaker 5: I gotta get ten so I can tell Will and
- 2:09:51Speaker 5: Taylor I got ten.
- 2:09:53Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean it's not just for you guys, Like
- 2:09:56Speaker 7: I mean, I want to I want to play. I
- 2:10:00Speaker 7: have liked these different goals that I've been able to
- 2:10:02Speaker 7: set the last couple of years. But my newest one
- 2:10:05Speaker 7: is to try to be on the Titans when they
- 2:10:07Speaker 7: open in the new stadium.
- 2:10:09Speaker 1: So try, yeah, try to still be here, Yoda, do
- 2:10:13Speaker 1: or do not?
- 2:10:14Speaker 7: There is no try all right? Then I will be
- 2:10:16Speaker 7: on the Titans when they think I.
- 2:10:17Speaker 5: Had a goal to I had a goal. It was
- 2:10:19Speaker 5: make it to when we had the alternate jerseys.
- 2:10:23Speaker 7: Didn't make it, didn't make it, didn't make it, didn't
- 2:10:26Speaker 7: make it.
- 2:10:27Speaker 5: This thing looks so nice? Do you think the Titans
- 2:10:29Speaker 5: should go full time back to those jerseys?
- 2:10:31Speaker 7: I like the white helmets a lot. Are you talking
- 2:10:34Speaker 7: the oilers the oiler ones? I like those every couple
- 2:10:39Speaker 7: of games. But if we could go back to how
- 2:10:42Speaker 7: we had white helmets.
- 2:10:43Speaker 5: At least and when do we change at eighteen?
- 2:10:45Speaker 7: Yeah, when Vrabel's first year, I believe. Yeah, there's something
- 2:10:49Speaker 7: special about the all white uniform, you know, or the
- 2:10:52Speaker 7: way the white looks with the Navy with the white
- 2:10:55Speaker 7: pant you know. Classic.
- 2:10:57Speaker 1: I like the white helmets too, because it's like the
- 2:10:59Speaker 1: Navy ones. They're just at their best when you're going
- 2:11:01Speaker 1: like all Navy in my right, more versatility with the
- 2:11:05Speaker 1: white home.
- 2:11:05Speaker 5: Yea, you'd like to see a little more. If you're
- 2:11:07Speaker 5: gonna go white jerseys, go white helmet navy, if all
- 2:11:10Speaker 5: navy or the Navy helmet goes hard, very sick. Do
- 2:11:13Speaker 5: you miss the Smurfs the I never really wore the
- 2:11:17Speaker 5: you didn't get the color rushes.
- 2:11:18Speaker 7: We did, and I think Thursday Night in twenty seventeen
- 2:11:23Speaker 7: versus Pittsburgh it was the only time.
- 2:11:25Speaker 5: Yeah, we got Donkey that game and then I believe
- 2:11:28Speaker 5: that was it. That was the game ab went off right, Yes, yeah.
- 2:11:32Speaker 7: Yes, so did I think Cam Hayward had a good
- 2:11:35Speaker 7: one too. I can't remember you go off in that game.
- 2:11:39Speaker 7: It was it was tough sledding. Yeah, tough sledding.
- 2:11:42Speaker 5: There's tough times.
- 2:11:44Speaker 7: That was a good line though. You guys played very
- 2:11:47Speaker 7: well together.
- 2:11:48Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, I mean Josh Klin, Yeah.
- 2:11:51Speaker 7: Quentin, Benny, Jack Conklin. Jack was that Jack's first year,
- 2:11:55Speaker 7: That was the second year.
- 2:11:57Speaker 5: Yeah, Yeah, it was a good crew. Jack still doing
- 2:11:59Speaker 5: it out there, Jack still doing his thing out there.
- 2:12:03Speaker 5: Snekly Gumby is just doing his thing? Does he do
- 2:12:05Speaker 5: You to see the Browns play when you see the film,
- 2:12:07Speaker 5: is Jack still jackings?
- 2:12:09Speaker 7: Jack still jacking?
- 2:12:10Speaker 5: He's the most unique technique you've ever seen an offensivelignment
- 2:12:13Speaker 5: of all the time.
- 2:12:14Speaker 7: He's crazy. It defies all jack and all season.
- 2:12:19Speaker 5: He's jacket all season long. Buddy, We appreciate you coming
- 2:12:23Speaker 5: on man.
- 2:12:23Speaker 7: Thanks, appreciated you guys,
