- 0:01SRI aurobindo is able to illustrate the different ways
- 0:04that Seekers wind up facing and dealing with difficulties or
- 0:08obstacles that arise during the yogic process.
- 0:13This is not a one-size-fits-all process due to the differing
- 0:17backgrounds starting points capacity and social environment,
- 0:22governing each separate individual, no matter how
- 0:26advanced a particular Sadiq, or practitioner me.
- 0:30Maybe the difficulties are there whether overt on the surface of
- 0:35the being or hidden within and constituting an inner struggle.
- 0:42We learn of difficulties faced by great, spiritual leaders of
- 0:46the past to show us the universality of this truth.
- 0:50Jesus struggled with the devil. Buddha was confronted, by Mara
- 0:56each of them had to live with extreme hardships.
- 0:59Having abandoned either for a time or completely direct
- 1:03involvement in the social, and economic life of the society, in
- 1:08some cases, living in the desert, with privations, or in
- 1:12the forest with privations, Miller a was tasked with hard,
- 1:16physical labor by his Guru for an extended period of time
- 1:22during which he was not allowed to participate in any teachings
- 1:25or meditation practices and thereafter.
- 1:29He lived a life of extreme austerity meditating in caves
- 1:34naked with Nettles for sustenance.
- 1:39SRI aurobindo himself. Spent time in the olive for a
- 1:42jail, as a guest of the British Raj under extreme circumstances.
- 1:48Until he was exonerated at trial, yet in these notably
- 1:53extreme cases. The spiritual process continued.
- 1:57And yielded results that resonate even today from those
- 2:01examples, as illustrations of the difficulties that attend
- 2:06spiritual practice. What we are not fully seeing
- 2:11here are the intense inner struggles.
- 2:14As sincere Seekers grapple with the weaknesses difficulties and
- 2:19limitations of the human instrument, the physical vital,
- 2:24emotional, and mental elements, and the impacts on these that
- 2:28come from external sources. All while trying to overcome
- 2:33habits, develop new directions, and powers of action and refine.
- 2:40And redirect the focus and action of the individual, under
- 2:44the guidance of the psychic being SRI aurobindo notes,
- 2:49quote, yoga has always its difficulties, whatever yoga it
- 2:54be. Moreover it acts in a different
- 2:57way on different speakers. Some have to overcome the
- 3:01difficulties of their nature first, before they get any
- 3:04experiences to speak of others, get a splendid beginning and all
- 3:09the difficulties afterwards. Others.
- 3:13Go on for a long time. Having alternate risings to the
- 3:16top of the wave, and then a descent into the gulf's.
- 3:21And so on, until the difficulty is worked out, Others have a
- 3:25smooth path, which does not mean that they have no difficulties.
- 3:30They have plenty, but they do not care.
- 3:33A straw for them because they feel that the Divine will help
- 3:37them to the goal or that he is with them.
- 3:40Even when they do not feel him, their faith makes them
- 3:44imperturbable. And quote, reference SRI,
