- 0:06Hello, what's your least favorite scary movie?
- 0:10Mama don't like tattletales? Welcome to What's Your Least
- 0:13Favorite Scary Movie? The podcast where we talk about
- 0:16the good, the bad, the ugly and the absurd and all of our
- 0:18favorite. And least.
- 0:19Favorite scary movies? Because we believe every horror
- 0:21movie rightfully has its fan base.
- 0:23Even if we don't always get it. My name is.
- 0:25Travis, my name's Jesse. And welcome everybody to our
- 0:29Patreon picked episode this. Month.
- 0:31Yes, it was the battle of the wrestlers.
- 0:34Yeah, Battle of the Wrestlers. We had it go up between They
- 0:37Live and See No Evil and Roddy Piper beat Kane.
- 0:43You won. I won the title.
- 0:45I'm very grateful because of See No Evil and See No Evil 2.
- 0:49I find to you to be vastly superior, a point of contention
- 0:52in our household. Well man, we haven't even
- 0:55watched the first one together. That's true.
- 0:57I've watched it as a kid and I remember being very much
- 1:03interested in Jacob. Good boy.
- 1:06I mean, we get Jacob, good boy, in the second one, but we also
- 1:10get who we get like a star-studded cast.
- 1:15You get Daniel Harris, Catherine, Isabel.
- 1:18Thank you. I could not remember her name.
- 1:19I didn't want to sing Danielle Harris and then forget who the
- 1:22other person was. He also the Saska sisters
- 1:24directed. That, yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 1:26It's so much fun. Could have been everybody, but
- 1:29no, today it wouldn't have been even that one.
- 1:31Yeah. No, it wouldn't have been.
- 1:33So No, it couldn't have been. Yeah.
- 1:34It couldn't have been but because.
- 1:36Travis posted the survey to keep me honest because there's a
- 1:41highlight. I would have snuck a little two
- 1:43on there. Anyways, we are talking about
- 1:47They Live. Yeah, another John Carpenter
- 1:51movie. It's been a while since we've
- 1:52talked about that boy, so it's time.
- 1:55It's time we get a little bit more of JC up in this piece.
- 1:59Yeah, I think it's warranted because Talia just came in here
- 2:03and knocked over your Michael Myers mask and you said that man
- 2:06never did anything to anyone. And I said there are multiple
- 2:10movies indicating that that's not the truth and so.
- 2:13They made Jason part of the mayor.
- 2:15Would be OK, so announcement, the only announcement is that we
- 2:20did our two beer not to be this past weekend and it was on evil
- 2:23tunes and we have thoughts and it's a movie.
- 2:27Yeah, we go terrifically off the rails with that when we had fun.
- 2:32So listen to it if you like having fun.
- 2:34Maybe don't listen to it if you really love the movie or if you
- 2:37love podcasts that stay incredibly on topic, which, in
- 2:40what case, what are you doing here?
- 2:43That's not what this show's about.
- 2:45We. Stay fairly on topic generally.
- 2:48And in that episode, we really, we, we never strayed too far
- 2:51from the path, but we do go out there and you kind of have to
- 2:54with that movie. It's, it's a bonkers little
- 2:58experience right there. So, yeah, we absolutely check it
- 3:01out. Yeah.
- 3:03In the meantime, I have our poll results.
- 3:05Oh yeah. We did a poll, we talked about
- 3:07hostile part three last week. So we wanted to know where would
- 3:11you guys like for the next Hostile movie to take place?
- 3:14Or this series I suppose. So the four options were
- 3:18Germany, Mexico, Japan in space. And I want you guys to know that
- 3:24Travis texted me. He was like, here are my
- 3:26thoughts for the poll. And he had all of that, except
- 3:30instead of space, he had South Sudan.
- 3:32And I said put space on there, you coward.
- 3:34Look, you want to know the truth?
- 3:36I picked the other three because I thought that they would be
- 3:38interesting locations. And then whenever it came to the
- 3:40final one, I was like, what's the place that has like a
- 3:43history of like being bad for tourists And also like, it's
- 3:48just marked as like a very dangerous country to visit.
- 3:51And South Sudan is the 4th most that's dangerous country to
- 3:53visit. So I was like, all right, let's
- 3:56still South Sudan. But when Jesse said space,
- 4:00because of that episode, we talked about the whole space
- 4:02thing. It just felt so right.
- 4:04You either go to Vegas or you go to space.
- 4:06And yeah, I think AI think a brave franchise would do both.
- 4:11I'm brave and stupid franchise which is hostile.
- 4:14Yeah, exactly. Stupid.
- 4:16Exactly. OK, so the answer is over on
- 4:19Instagram, nobody wanted Germany, 42% wanted Mexico,
- 4:24Nobody wanted Japan, 58% wanted space.
- 4:29Over on Twitter, nobody wanted Germany 22%, Mexico 11%, Japan
- 4:3567% space. I'm not going to lie, originally
- 4:40my idea for a good one would be Mexico, but then whenever you
- 4:44said space, I kind of thought I kind of wish you also in space.
- 4:48So I space is my vote too, yeah. Obviously I want space.
- 4:53Hostile in Space just seems the right amount of absurd for that
- 4:56series. The next one It doesn't even
- 4:59have to make it to the 7th sequel.
- 5:00The 4th one is perfectly fine. To go exactly, exactly this
- 5:04franchise is already way off the walls.
- 5:06Bonkers. We're good, we're fine.
- 5:09All right. So thanks everybody for
- 5:10participating in that poll. Yeah.
- 5:12So what's good end of day with? Yay.
- 5:15By the way, why can I ask why did you choose that as the
- 5:18opening line? I do love that line.
- 5:20Because I thought that the bubble gum one would be too
- 5:23expected. Yeah, but it's expected because
- 5:28it's so great. I know it is so perfect.
- 5:31I listen. I like to pick iconic and
- 5:35important lines in the movie, but I also want to see how much
- 5:39I can surprise you with what I do with the opening.
- 5:42That's so. OK, you did a good job.
- 5:44Yeah. Yeah, I love that one.
- 5:47What was it again, Mama? Mama don't like tattletales.
- 5:51Yeah. Rowdy, Rowdy Piper.
- 5:54Just every line is delivered Florida State.
- 5:57So yeah, including that line. I was trying to think of like
- 6:01what the full quote would be and I don't know why but in my mind
- 6:05it's like I'm here to spank tablers and kiss Mamas and Mama
- 6:09don't like tattle tales Like what?
- 6:13I know I confused so many people in the bank.
- 6:21My God. Alright alright, let's let's go
- 6:23into They Live. So They live released November
- 6:274th, 1988. We watched this on our Scream
- 6:31Factory 4K. If you want to watch it
- 6:35currently, you pretty much have to watch it on Stars.
- 6:37There's no other place to stream an episode.
- 6:39Stars. With AZ.
- 6:40With AZ, yeah you can. Premium streaming service Stars
- 6:43with AZ. Or maybe up in space with the
- 6:46next Hostel movie. You can maybe watch it up there
- 6:48too. It's possible.
- 6:50You can rent it on Apple, Amazon, YouTube, or Fandango at
- 6:53home though. Fandango at home, formerly
- 6:55Voodoo. Noted streaming service Fandango
- 6:59Apple, formerly Voodoo. Featuring other movies from
- 7:02stars with AZ? Yes.
- 7:05Premium streaming service Stars with AZ.
- 7:08The very same. It's worth the money, y'all, If
- 7:12you've never seen it or if you have seen it and it hasn't been
- 7:15a while, or if you watched it last night and you're just like,
- 7:17man, do I wanna watch it again. It's worth the money.
- 7:19It's worth it. Although at that point, if
- 7:21you've watched it very recently, just buy.
- 7:23Just buy it on physical media. There's a lot of additions out
- 7:27there. You don't even need to get the
- 7:284K, but there's plenty of ways to get this thing out there.
- 7:32I can't wait for like 20 years from now the documentary on
- 7:35streaming wars and how they basically shot themselves in the
- 7:38foot and cannibalized themselves and pushed people back to
- 7:41pirating and physical media ownership.
- 7:44Yeah, You know, it really is kind of one of the I like having
- 7:49things. I like having it's, I like to
- 7:51collect it. It's one of the things that I
- 7:53like to collect. But I also like it because I
- 7:55don't have to rely on a streaming service exactly.
- 7:57It is nice to have that as an option.
- 7:59And I do Speaking of this, I do want to follow up and say that
- 8:03Travis has finally conceded that Xbox may in fact be slightly
- 8:07Xbox. She was actually have.
- 8:09Moved our Blu-ray player from the bedroom back out into the
- 8:12living room. It's a Boy Ray player that I've
- 8:16had since I can't even remember how long.
- 8:19But yeah, we moved it out to the living room in this play.
- 8:22It played. You had it.
- 8:22My mom got it for us for Christmas like 10 years ago.
- 8:27I'm thinking of the TVI. Had Yeah, you're thinking of the
- 8:29TV. Yeah, whatever.
- 8:30Yeah. So yeah, thank you for that blue
- 8:32ray player. It's saved our ass because we
- 8:34are actually able to watch some things.
- 8:36Now that we want Travis also has a very special thank you for him
- 8:40Mama Naomi a couple months ago on Tubi and on to be with wolf
- 8:44cop Travis made the beautiful glorious pun I'm Sasquatch and
- 8:48you and I said please somebody put this on a T-shirt and what
- 8:51arrived two days before his birthday, but a customized U
- 8:55shirt from none other than my mother that said it says
- 8:57sasquatching you. Yeah, Sasquatching you.
- 9:00Yeah. Oh my God, that was pretty
- 9:02amazing. Like it took a minute for it to
- 9:04quick for me. I was like what does?
- 9:05That mean? Yeah, it says.
- 9:06Squatching you wolf God. Yeah, that was a good surprise.
- 9:11So thank you. That a plus listener status
- 9:14right there. Yes, and you want a plus, you
- 9:16know. Mama.
- 9:17Status, Mama. Status.
- 9:19Yeah. Mama don't like Tatlers.
- 9:21Mama do not like tattle sales, Yeah.
- 9:24All right, so where was it? All right, here we go.
- 9:27Written by. Yeah, no, we have not gotten
- 9:29anywhere with this yet. We're off the road again.
- 9:32Like our Tiny Tunes episode? Evil tunes.
- 9:35Yeah, Tiny Tunes is the show shit.
- 9:36Tiny Tune Adventures now the shows written.
- 9:39By. Written now.
- 9:41Our song is done. Yes, written by.
- 9:46Written by based on a short story is what I have written
- 9:50here. By based on the shorts.
- 9:52For you. OK, All right.
- 9:53So it's based on a short story called 8 O Clock in the Morning,
- 9:56which is a short story and a comic by Ray Nelson.
- 10:00John Carpenter took that and took the inspiration from that
- 10:04and adapted the screenplay into this, Although he has himself in
- 10:08the movie credited as Frank Armitage because he had so many
- 10:14influences on the story and he had so much input from the cast
- 10:17and crew that he didn't feel comfortable taking soul riding
- 10:20credit for this. Wow, OK.
- 10:22Yeah, which is cool. I remember seeing in the opening
- 10:25tracks that it had not his name. I'm like, that's weird.
- 10:28I could have sworn that this was a John Carpenter ridden movie,
- 10:31but yeah it. Is Frank garbage?
- 10:34Directed by him though. Directed by John Carpenter,
- 10:37music by John Carpenter and Alan Howarth, who has done all of the
- 10:42other Halloween movies that were like 4-5 three, a lot of the
- 10:47ones that he was quasi involved in as like a producer.
- 10:50Or a writer, Alan Howarth do that.
- 10:54Yeah, that was him. Yeah, he did the soundtrack.
- 10:56Good job, Alan. Yeah, special effects.
- 10:59We have Roy Arbages who did the special effects and then the
- 11:05prosthetics was designed by Sandy Kane.
- 11:08OK, Did John Carpenter reveal it as his wife now?
- 11:12Oh, OK. Good for them.
- 11:13Yeah, in the interviews on the desk.
- 11:15At least that's what he. Said which of the interviews?
- 11:17Because there were interviews from various stages on there.
- 11:19Because I looked up at one point and I was like, oh, this is
- 11:23earned the right to be cranky, John Carpenter.
- 11:25And then at one point I looked up and I was like, was has just
- 11:29always been cranky. John Carpenter.
- 11:31Yeah, he he didn't change too much in 30 years.
- 11:36I love the man's brutal honesty. There was one point that he
- 11:40somebody asked if the fight scene, if they ever thought they
- 11:43were gonna cut it down, and his answer was just no.
- 11:46Yeah, I love it too. And that's the right answer for
- 11:49that fight scene. He he's earned it and I love how
- 11:53he's just no bullshit. He's like, this is like Mujah,
- 11:56how I feel about. Things if you've never seen his
- 12:00his labio like test. It's in a labo.
- 12:03Labo yeah. If you've never seen him testing
- 12:06the piano for that, that footage is fucking amazing.
- 12:10I'm look. Oh God, we're going off the
- 12:12rails again. But I love John.
- 12:14Carpenter, we have to. I no, I'm talking about Nintendo
- 12:17here. I love the idea of the Nintendo
- 12:19Labo because it's such an accessible thing.
- 12:22You don't even need to buy that. It's just like, go get a
- 12:27cardboard box from the back of a store and now you've got an
- 12:31accessory for your Nintendo. It's awesome.
- 12:34However, John Carpenter, as John Carpenter does, is like, this is
- 12:37fucking shit. Just because.
- 12:39They gave him like a little tiny piano and they're like composed
- 12:42something and he's like, what the fuck is this?
- 12:45That's what it is. He plays video games.
- 12:47He's a weird. He's a big gamer now.
- 12:48Yeah, he plays Destiny all the. Time, man, I love that man.
- 12:52And he's Kentucky. Yeah, he's a big basketball boy
- 12:54too, of course, because he's Kentucky.
- 12:56Yeah, he's Kentucky. He's he's from my neck.
- 12:59Lewitz. Yeah, Bowling Green.
- 13:01Yeah. Yeah.
- 13:02All right, I've only got three people written down in the cast
- 13:04because that's really all you need to know for this movie.
- 13:06So we have Roddy Piper is not a Keith David is Frank.
- 13:11Meg Foster is Holly. Yep.
- 13:14And then everybody else is just kind of side characters that
- 13:17have importance but aren't majorly.
- 13:19Important. Yeah.
- 13:20No, I I honestly like Roddy. Roddy and Keith David steal the
- 13:25fucking show. Yeah, they absolutely do.
- 13:28All right, time for a favorite game on the show.
- 13:30Budget or budgeted? Prime John Carpenter here.
- 13:36This is prime John Carpenter. But also I'm going to be
- 13:39completely honest and I did hear some of the discussion about the
- 13:43budget when you were doing this earlier.
- 13:45How dare you? Well, you waited until I woke up
- 13:48and started drinking my coffee this morning to watch the
- 13:51interviews, so I don't know what you.
- 13:53Expected. I watched this whenever I was
- 13:55awake too. I'm just saying like you were up
- 13:59a while before me, you could have watched it before then.
- 14:01I'm like John Carpenter. I had to play some video games.
- 14:05Talk about how it sucks. Bug Ted.
- 14:08OK, Yeah. Because I remember I'm being
- 14:11surprised because if I hadn't heard that, I would have guessed
- 14:13budget. Really.
- 14:14Yeah. Yeah.
- 14:15Just based on like the amount of fight scenes and like the the
- 14:18fact that they would have had to double all of their set props
- 14:21for everything. Like, you know, when you see
- 14:24like, not even just the black and white, but like, you know,
- 14:27the billboards and the magazines and everything changing, like
- 14:29they have to like redress those sets and they have to have props
- 14:32for all of them twice. And it just.
- 14:35I would have guessed a lot more. He said out of the entire movie,
- 14:38The most expensive scene in the movie was when he went into the
- 14:43grocery store. I could see that because he
- 14:45really fucked some shit up in there.
- 14:47He fucks shit up in. There and there's a.
- 14:48Lot of people in there that are aliens.
- 14:51But yeah, there's a lot of like special effects makeup that they
- 14:54have to do. There's a lot of again, it's
- 14:56like the double set dressing thing.
- 14:59Yeah, because he's he, he's mostly with the glasses for that
- 15:02scene, but there are glimpses of him without it.
- 15:04And yeah, yeah, you're right, there's a lot going on there, he
- 15:07said. Also, because it was a tight
- 15:09space, it was kind of difficult. Yeah.
- 15:11So, all right, so the budget it's $4 million.
- 15:15Wow. So, so it's it's not terrible
- 15:19like for 88, I think that it's still.
- 15:21Pretty for 88. And this is a pretty tight movie
- 15:24too, yeah. So yeah.
- 15:25For sure opening box office 4.8 million.
- 15:29Rude. Worldwide gross 13.4.
- 15:32Also rude, but I'll accept it. I don't know how true this is, I
- 15:38just read this like I was curious and read it in the IMDb
- 15:43trivia, but allegedly this movie opened at #1 and was quickly
- 15:50removed from theaters. I don't know if that has to do
- 15:54with the messaging in the movie and they didn't want that to get
- 15:56out there. Obviously, Travis.
- 15:59Yeah. They're silencing him.
- 16:02I'm just, I mean, that's, that's what is said, but I don't know
- 16:05how true that is. But it's still made some pretty
- 16:07good. But also, if the movie is making
- 16:09you money, consume baby, consume it's.
- 16:11True, it's it's a part of the problem in a sense.
- 16:16OK IMDb 7.2. Hell yeah.
- 16:21Yeah, that's a really high score.
- 16:22Hell yeah. All right, so I have a theme for
- 16:27this week. I'm very curious.
- 16:30It's fuck the man. Fuck the man.
- 16:33Yeah, fuck the Bruins. What the fuck is a?
- 16:37Bruin. Yeah, fuck the man, Fuck the
- 16:39machine, fuck it all. OK, all right.
- 16:43Which men? Which men are we fucking?
- 16:46Let's go fuck some men. Well, the first one is the
- 16:48maniac cop. OK, Yeah.
- 16:51He's a large man with a large chin, so.
- 16:53A cap even Charlie Swan, unfortunately.
- 16:57Yeah, so maybe a cop released May 5th or no May 13th, 1988
- 17:04Budget of 1.1 million worldwide gross 671,000 IMDb. 6 outs in.
- 17:11But I was thinking the same thing.
- 17:14You made like a little E face like, but this is a time when
- 17:20and this is a time that no longer exists, but you can make
- 17:23these movies and they would still have a good beefy enough
- 17:27budget like that and you would make plenty with the home media
- 17:31sales. Yeah, I guess.
- 17:33So you don't have to worry about worldwide growth so much anymore
- 17:36because it always makes its money back with the home media.
- 17:39It's kind of like also when we talk about, like, movies around
- 17:41the COVID era to how a lot of those went straight to
- 17:44streaming. So that kind of fucks up our box
- 17:46office numbers. Exactly.
- 17:48Yeah. And that's part of the reason we
- 17:49like to look at, you know, movies from the same era.
- 17:52Yeah. Exactly.
- 17:52So that actually it does make the box office numbers look
- 17:55better for They would, they would, Yeah.
- 17:57And it looks. Pretty impressive, honestly.
- 17:59All right, the next movie. What's right?
- 18:02The IMDb. No, I said that 6000. 6000 OK, I
- 18:06just couldn't remember, OK. Yeah.
- 18:08That's a good movie. I like that movie a lot.
- 18:10Yeah, I like that one. I like the second one.
- 18:13Yeah, I've not watched the 3rd but we have it.
- 18:16We have the third we need to watch.
- 18:18It I need to watch it all right the next movie.
- 18:20Thanks Mutant Fan the. Brain The.
- 18:23Brain. That was on the.
- 18:25Last drive recently I. Think it was the Christmas
- 18:27episode there was. The whole point of that is the
- 18:31brain is an alien that is using the TV to take over people.
- 18:37Yep, that feels kind of a similar.
- 18:39Message to What's going on with thematic?
- 18:41Yes. So the release for that was
- 18:45November 4th, 1988, the same day as they live.
- 18:48OK, OK, so that's man. Can you imagine the double
- 18:52feature that weekend? You just leave the cinema
- 18:55cynical as hell, OK? Yeah, you're saying cinema now?
- 18:58No shout out, Kendra. Yeah.
- 19:01Yeah. Well.
- 19:03I'm excited because in just a couple of days, from the day of
- 19:05the release of this episode, we will be in the cinema with our
- 19:08Kentucky mutant fans. That's true.
- 19:11I imagine that this time though, it seems like it was very much a
- 19:17lot of people fed up with the current climate.
- 19:19I I heard John Carpenter say Reagan a few times.
- 19:25That motherfucker hates Reagan. He like, yeah, the entire time.
- 19:29He's like bitching about Reaganomics, which is totally
- 19:32warranted. Do you think Do you think John
- 19:35Carpenter listens to Killer Mike?
- 19:38I could see him listening to Killer Mike.
- 19:40Honestly, he, I, he had an interesting take about the
- 19:46movie. He's like, honestly, I, he said.
- 19:48I feel like the 80s never left. I feel like we're still in the
- 19:5280s, like Reaganomics never left.
- 19:55Everything is still trickled down down the rich or richer
- 19:58than they ever have been. Absolutely.
- 19:59It's like he, yeah. Which I, you know, it was really
- 20:04interesting hearing him talk about.
- 20:06His whole thought process behind this.
- 20:08He's a man I want to get a whiskey with at a bar.
- 20:10I'd be afraid to because I don't know.
- 20:11I don't want to know what he thinks.
- 20:15Honestly. Like God, man, I respect you and
- 20:17I don't want to have you hate me.
- 20:19Yeah. I want you to respect me also.
- 20:22Yeah. You would be going to bring up
- 20:24Hot Rod again. You'd be like Rod fighting
- 20:27Frank. I need to.
- 20:28You'd have to fight John Carpenter and beat him.
- 20:31Kick your ass John Carpenter, make you respect me all.
- 20:39Right. This could like find this way
- 20:41out there and it could be one of those YouTube boxing matches
- 20:43where I box John Carpenter. Don't make that ever happen,
- 20:46please. I don't want to box him.
- 20:48They finally announced John Carpenter for Scare Fest and he
- 20:51shows up and he like does a whole WWE promo.
- 20:55He's like. And I'm going to kick Travis's.
- 21:00I would love that. He's a big wrestling fan too.
- 21:03OK, don't I say the IMDb because the IMDb is 5.2 on the brain.
- 21:07OK, OK, All right. And the final movie, it's not
- 21:11one that we've watched, but it seemed to fit thematically.
- 21:14It's called Prison. It's about a guy that was
- 21:17convicted, and I'm assuming wrongfully so.
- 21:21And he is, he either breaks out or he gets released and he's
- 21:25gonna go fuck over the guy that fucked him over, which was the
- 21:29governor of the the prison. OK, so apparently something
- 21:33happened there. The system was suppressing him,
- 21:35keeping him down. He's going to fuck some shit.
- 21:37Up, yeah, as systems like that are kind of designed to do,
- 21:40basically. It's like legal slavery, yeah.
- 21:43Basically. Yeah, yeah, for profit prisons
- 21:45are like a fucking abomination on this earth.
- 21:48Yeah, so yeah, fuck the system that released March 4th, 1988
- 21:53with a $4 million budget, same as they live worldwide.
- 21:57Gross 345,000 IMDb 5.8 OK, so apparently it's a pretty decent
- 22:05little movie there. Seems like maybe we should watch
- 22:06it. Seems like it.
- 22:08Seems like a law abiding citizen of Jamie Foxx wasn't such a
- 22:11prima Donna. Yeah.
- 22:13That that pisses me off every time I read about that cuz it'll
- 22:17come up like, you know, times like stars influence the end of
- 22:20a film or whatever. He wasn't supposed to win at the
- 22:23end of law abiding season, by the way.
- 22:25Spoiler or. Yeah, well, it's like over 10
- 22:28years. That's fine.
- 22:29Yeah, that's. True.
- 22:30You you can bleep that out if you want though.
- 22:32But yeah, no, it's just one of those.
- 22:34Like it completely changed the whole tone of the movie.
- 22:37OK, ready for some taglines? Yes.
- 22:40It's funny, I. I was so nervous because I saw
- 22:42your worksheet was blank in the tagline section and I was like,
- 22:45that can't be true. No, I got him on my phone.
- 22:47OK, and it's funny. The main reason I did it is
- 22:49because the one on the poster is long.
- 22:51And it's funny because I had to zoom in and crop out his
- 22:54forehead. So I'm just looking at his
- 22:55forehead with text on it right there.
- 22:58So the tagline on the poster is you see them on the street, you
- 23:02watch them on TV, you might even vote for one this fall.
- 23:06You think they're people just like you.
- 23:08You're wrong. Dead wrong.
- 23:12Especially frightening in an election year.
- 23:15It was an election year that year.
- 23:17Yeah, one, I mean right now too for us looking at it, yeah.
- 23:19Exactly. Yeah.
- 23:20Isn't that it's wordy? I know generally we don't like
- 23:24those, but I like that one a lot.
- 23:25Yeah, no, it it works. And especially with the whole
- 23:27like element of like, is this a cult?
- 23:30Are we being indoctrinated? Like, yeah, I feel like it ties
- 23:34in well with the themes of the movie.
- 23:35I like it a lot. Yeah.
- 23:37All right. I got a couple of others here.
- 23:38Cat. Next up, obviously I have come
- 23:42here to chew bubble gum and kick gas.
- 23:45And a bubble out of bubble gum. Such a classic one, I love it so
- 23:49much. I want on AT shirt or a hat.
- 23:54I've come here to chew bubble gum and pet dogs, and I'm all
- 23:57out of bubble gum because I've. I make that joke literally every
- 24:00time we go to Thursday Night Live.
- 24:03That's true. Yeah.
- 24:04Travis can tell you like, anytime I'm a little sad.
- 24:06He's like, do you want to go to Thursday Night Live and pet
- 24:08dogs? I kind of want this as like a
- 24:09tattoo of Roddy Piper doing that.
- 24:12That'd be sick as well. That might be one of my next
- 24:16tattoos. All right, Next up, obey.
- 24:19Or else. Alien invasion of the subliminal
- 24:22kind. Oh.
- 24:25I like that, yeah. They control what you see.
- 24:29They decide what you hear. You think they're people just
- 24:31like you. You're wrong.
- 24:32Dead wrong. There's a variation.
- 24:34There's a variation on the theme.
- 24:36The final one, who are they and what do they want?
- 24:41We kind of know them by the time we watch the movie, and they're
- 24:44aliens and they want you empower your resources.
- 24:49They want your money. Yeah.
- 24:52They want to bleed you dry. Yeah.
- 24:55Just like all the other billionaires.
- 24:58Fun. Backs All right, so as we
- 25:03discussed before, it was originally based off of a short
- 25:07story by Ray Nelson. The whole premise of the short
- 25:11is this guy George Nada, which Nada is the name of Roddy
- 25:16Piper's character I have. A question, yeah.
- 25:19Is that ever explicitly said in the movie?
- 25:21OK, never said because I in my notes he was just RRP for Rowdy
- 25:25Roddy Piper because I was like I don't know this guy's name.
- 25:28No, it's Nada. His name is Nada, and it's based
- 25:31off of the character from the original story, George Nada.
- 25:34So the premise of that story is George Nada wakes up, realizes
- 25:39everybody is hypnotized, and he has until 8:00 in the morning to
- 25:42fix it. OK, that's frightening.
- 25:44Yeah, John Carpenter saw that. I was like, I, I like this.
- 25:48It's entertaining. It became a comic also, and
- 25:50that's where he initially was exposed to it.
- 25:52He's like, I don't necessarily think that the hypnotize thing
- 25:56works so well. So I'm going to just take this,
- 25:58take the inspiration from this and make it about just people
- 26:02being controlled subliminally, OK?
- 26:06Essentially. OK, so again I said before he
- 26:10used a pseudonym because too many sources for the rioting, so
- 26:14he just didn't want to take full credit for it.
- 26:17I respect that too. I respect that a lot.
- 26:20Yeah, I didn't. Yeah.
- 26:21And it would be great to like be able to track down all of the
- 26:24different sources for it. But if you can't do it, next
- 26:25best thing like not. I mean, he lists a few people,
- 26:28like, you know, Roddy Piper contributed lines in this movie.
- 26:31And there's like so many people, like so many influences for this
- 26:35right here. There's a comic book, there's a
- 26:36short story. There's all kinds of things.
- 26:39Well, and there's it was something that was discussed on
- 26:41this ends at prom last week where they were talking about
- 26:44how it's a lot harder, especially like as a woman
- 26:47writer to get your like recognition, like your your
- 26:50input recognized in the script, especially not just as a woman
- 26:55writer, but as a woman director. And the film that you're talking
- 26:57about specifically had a woman director, and they were like,
- 27:00based on her other works, it and interviews and everything, it
- 27:04seems likely that she had a lot of involvement in the script,
- 27:06but she didn't even get a writing credit.
- 27:09Oh, that's so. Yeah.
- 27:10And I hope I'm not misquoting that, but it was like a really
- 27:13interesting discussion that they had about that, so.
- 27:15About blockers, right? Yeah, yeah.
- 27:17So it's God, I love the Colangelos.
- 27:21I know I've mentioned them plenty of times, but go listen
- 27:23to that episode. It's a fun movie.
- 27:25It's got John fucking Cena and Catherine Newton.
- 27:28And Ike Barinholtz. And Ike Barinholtz and Leslie
- 27:32Mann, it's just, it's a really good movie.
- 27:34It's a good. Yeah, it's a good movie.
- 27:36The director is really good. She's done a lot of other shit.
- 27:39But yeah. And listen, the wives,
- 27:41Colangelo, have a lot of really good background information on
- 27:43it. And they talk about things like
- 27:45that. You know how it is harder for a
- 27:46woman to get their their contributions recognized in
- 27:49writing credits like that? So that sucks.
- 27:51So it does suck, but it does make me feel good to hear that
- 27:56my favorite little grumpy old man didn't want to take sole
- 27:59credit but didn't have a way to credit everybody that was
- 28:01involved. He gives Fred where Fredits do.
- 28:05For those who listen to our Evil Tunes episode, that's a callback
- 28:09right there. So John Garber had cast Roddy
- 28:12Piper because one, he's a big wrestling fans Madam at
- 28:15WrestleMania. I can't remember which one it
- 28:18was, but he met him back there and then he was just so inspired
- 28:23by how real he was. He didn't want to cast a typical
- 28:28Hollywood actor because Hollywood actors, a lot of them
- 28:31don't give off real people vibes.
- 28:33But Roddy Piper's got scars. He's got the whole persona of a
- 28:37working man. He's a real down to earth guy
- 28:39and he liked that about him. He is a real American and he
- 28:42fights for the rights of every man.
- 28:45Wrong guy, but probably more appropriate to be going to him.
- 28:49Yeah, yeah. I was trying to tie, do a tie
- 28:52in. Yeah, I was tying a tie in.
- 28:54You did a good job there. Yeah, Hulk Hogan kind of turned
- 28:56out to be a piece. Of shit, yeah.
- 28:57Hulk Hogan probably would have voted for Reagan.
- 29:00Probably did. He was.
- 29:01He was alive then. Yeah, he came out of the womb
- 29:05like Hulkamania right there. Hulkamania.
- 29:08Rigamania. He cast Keith David, though,
- 29:13because he wanted somebody to not feel like a sidekick.
- 29:18He wanted somebody to like, be able to hold their own with
- 29:22Roddy Piper. And that is just, it's such
- 29:24beautiful casting. I'm never mad when I see Keith
- 29:27David Keith David on my screen. He's amazing.
- 29:29He's an amazing. He's an amazing actor and I
- 29:32can't pick their their chemistry together.
- 29:35Like I just, if the whole movie was them I would be happy.
- 29:40Like I feel like there's far too many scenes of Roddy alone.
- 29:44Yeah, it takes a long time for Frank to join up with him, but
- 29:49when it does, I like the dynamic of the two of them together.
- 29:52Yes, it's fun. I like it a lot.
- 29:53Yes. So Roddy Piper came up with the
- 29:57one liners himself. I know this is probably common
- 30:00knowledge for a lot of people, but for those that don't know,
- 30:02he proposed it to John Carpenter.
- 30:04He's like, look, I've got this list of one liners that I use.
- 30:08I'm a wrestler. Yeah.
- 30:10As you may know. Yeah, these are things that I
- 30:12say and these are things that I've prepared.
- 30:14So here are some of them. And then he saw that I'm here to
- 30:18kick ass and chew bubble gum and a mall on a bubble gum line.
- 30:21He's like, that's perfect. I didn't, he didn't even want
- 30:23credit. He's like, I did not come up
- 30:24with that. That was all righty.
- 30:25So that's probably part of the writing right there that he
- 30:28credited to him. And that's one that's the most
- 30:30iconic thing for this. Movie, that's the way.
- 30:32Everybody remembers. Yeah, Roddy Piper and Keith
- 30:36David rehearse that fight scene for three weeks.
- 30:40I like I was watching that and it definitely it has like fields
- 30:44of pro wrestling, like those specific flips they do and even
- 30:47down to like the sounds like there's one point where he like
- 30:52flips Keith David over his shoulder and lands him on the
- 30:55ground. And it's the same sound that you
- 30:56hear when they, like, land on the mat in the ring where it's
- 30:58like. Yeah, it was apparently super
- 31:02well done because Roddy Piper is obviously super experienced with
- 31:06that type of stuff right there. Dude and he's like a surprising
- 31:09bulk, you know what I mean? Like you can tell like he's an
- 31:12in shape person. But then when he had his shirt
- 31:14off, I was like, boom. It was funny because I was, as
- 31:17part of this right here, there's an interview that was listening
- 31:20to with him talking to Howard Stern and Howard Stern's like,
- 31:23you did steroids. I was like, Oh yeah, Oh yeah, I
- 31:25did. Steroids like.
- 31:26Everybody did. I don't see a problem with it.
- 31:28Yeah, it's not a natural body. Like you don't get that by like
- 31:31being a home again, that's the. Realness that John Carpenter's
- 31:34telling. Yeah, I appreciate the.
- 31:37Like, it's refreshing to be like, oh, yeah, I just steroids.
- 31:40Yeah, everybody does steroids like that.
- 31:41Yeah. So yeah, they rehearsed it for
- 31:44three weeks. It runs for 5 minutes and 20
- 31:47seconds. The whole reason that he wanted
- 31:49it, John Carpenter just told the stunt guy, I want classic fight
- 31:54scene that is reminiscent of John Wayne stuff.
- 31:59OK. And apparently it just kept
- 32:03rolling and rolling and rolling after they rehearsed it and he
- 32:06didn't want to cut any of it down.
- 32:07He's like, it's just let's let it play out because it's a lot
- 32:10of fun to watch them do that. And I don't know how true it is,
- 32:14but apparently they actually got to a point to where they were
- 32:17like trading boys for real except for hitting the face and
- 32:19hitting the groan. But they were actually doing the
- 32:21wrestling moves all themselves. And Keith David was a boxer, so
- 32:25he had that fighting with him to the some man said he had to, he
- 32:30had to take him and put him up a little bit to Roddy Piper's
- 32:35level. And he had to take Roddy Piper
- 32:36and bring him down a little bit to make them both me in the
- 32:38middle equilibrium. Yeah.
- 32:41And we got a. Balanced fun fighter.
- 32:42What's that? Oh God, it's so.
- 32:44Iconic. It's one of my favorite that I
- 32:46look forward to it every time we watch this movie.
- 32:48I'm like two of my like favorites there on screen and
- 32:52just having a good fucking time and giving the audience a show.
- 32:56It's a highway and it. It includes wrestling moves like
- 33:00from Yeah, Piper. He's like, all right, here's
- 33:01some of my shit right here and like, let's just do that.
- 33:04It's fun. So interesting.
- 33:07Thing that. Happened with this because Roddy
- 33:10Piper did this movie. Vince McMahon who runs WWF at
- 33:15the time was not a fan. He did not endorse this movie.
- 33:19And Roddy Piper, you said Vince McMahon.
- 33:22In my entire mouth sucked in because he's a litigious man,
- 33:26he's a litigious man. He's a.
- 33:28Terrible bastard man too. He's a lot of nasty things have
- 33:32come out about him here recently, which makes me this.
- 33:35All that follows here makes me respect Roddy Piper even more.
- 33:39But he he told Roddy Piper, I don't like you doing that movie.
- 33:44Don't do that movie. I will line you up with another
- 33:47movie myself in four weeks. Just do that.
- 33:50And Roddy Piper said, yeah, but it's not going to be with John
- 33:53Carpenter. And then he's like, I'm going to
- 33:55do it. He's like, I don't like it.
- 33:57He's being a control freak. He sent him a message in the
- 34:00mail. He sent him a letter, all caps,
- 34:02saying I don't want to do that movie that you're wanting to do.
- 34:06I want to do this movie instead. I don't care.
- 34:09And because of that, he ended up being booted from the WWF.
- 34:13He lost ties. He had a following out with
- 34:15Vince McMahon. So he ended up coming back to it
- 34:20later. Well, as many.
- 34:22Wrestlers do, yeah, but as a. Result he like because of his
- 34:28fame from this movie and all kinds of other things, he became
- 34:30a much popular character than he was previously.
- 34:33So he actually thanks John Carpenter for making him as
- 34:37successful as he was later down the line, which led to him being
- 34:42the Maniac and It's Always Maniac Sunny in.
- 34:45Philadelphia I've. Got kids?
- 34:47And somewhere, the final thing I'm going to.
- 34:52Say for fun facts is it was originally scheduled to go up
- 34:55against Halloween 4 on October 21st.
- 34:58Just funny because John Carpenter was a producer for
- 35:01that movie but they decided to move it because of that and they
- 35:04rescheduled it for its date of November 8th also to align with
- 35:08the election that came. I would have watched.
- 35:11That double feature too though. Halloween for into they live.
- 35:15Oh my God, I would too. I mean, I would do that like
- 35:17today, yeah, we can do. We can do that on Halloween if
- 35:22we want. That's true.
- 35:23Nobody's stopping us. It's not illegal.
- 35:25It doesn't even have to be Halloween.
- 35:26Yeah. Tomorrow what's going to?
- 35:27Happen. Is John Carpenter going to come
- 35:29here and kick your ass? Maybe, But we can still watch it
- 35:33if you don't think. Three hour drive he.
- 35:35Can do it. He's like I watched.
- 35:38That fight from a very close perspective, I know the moves I
- 35:44will he. Will find me.
- 35:45Hard. He could probably.
- 35:47Kick your ass he would. He like he would kill my spirit
- 35:52and he would also break me physically.
- 35:55I wonder what? I'm literally.
- 35:58Picturing him being Bane and picking me up and breaking my
- 36:01spine, that's what John Carpenter would do to me.
- 36:06All right. So that's it for fun facts, OK.
- 36:09So let's get. Into our discussion.
- 36:11Good. Bad, away.
- 36:12Absurd. Jesse, what did you like about
- 36:15this movie? Oh God.
- 36:17Like I've already said, Roddy and Keith steal the fucking
- 36:21show. They're just absolutely Dynamo
- 36:24together. They, they have such a charisma
- 36:29each individually, and then when they're together instead of it,
- 36:34it's not like a Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson situation.
- 36:37Yeah, they they don't. Have egos that get in the way,
- 36:40yes. Yeah, they are allowed to exist
- 36:43in both. They both have the spotlight.
- 36:45Neither one of them steals a show.
- 36:46Yes, and. I love that.
- 36:48I love the one liners. I love that it almost feels like
- 36:51a video game in some ways because it starts off, it feels
- 36:54like a very long like cut scene, you know, like where you're,
- 36:58you're at the beginning of the video game and you're getting
- 37:00the lay of the land. Like this is what's happening.
- 37:03You know, at an all time high, you've got to go try and find
- 37:07Twerk and you're going to stay here at this place.
- 37:10And then you get the glasses and that's when you start doing like
- 37:13the tutorial piece and then it cuts into the actual game.
- 37:15And that's when he's in the bank and the grocery store and he's
- 37:18just going buck wild. Like that's how it feels.
- 37:22And it just it makes no goddamn sense.
- 37:24But it's so much fun. And like The thing is that even
- 37:27though it makes no goddamn sense, it is like a very deep
- 37:30movie. And you sit here and you watch
- 37:32it and you're like, Oh my God, this is like critiquing so much
- 37:35of like how we spend our lives. You're making me sad that.
- 37:38They never made a video game if they live right, but I would
- 37:41play the shit. Absolutely.
- 37:43We're just gonna have to settle for like, pulling up some like
- 37:46vintage raw 64 and yeah, well, we no, we can do.
- 37:51We can do the WWE now. They have classic characters.
- 37:54They might have Roddy Piper, and then we can do a build your Own
- 37:56of Keith David. I just have that fight.
- 37:59Yeah, let's do it that. Sounds like a great time.
- 38:01Yeah. But yeah, I think it's so much
- 38:04fun. And I love the ambiguity around
- 38:07Meg Foster's character. She isn't Meg Foster.
- 38:12Meg Forster, I feel like I should know her name because it
- 38:15feels like a foster. Yeah, Meg Foster.
- 38:17It feels like a well known name. And I'm sure she's in other
- 38:19things. I'm sure there are people.
- 38:21She is now like a a collaborator of Rob Zombie movie.
- 38:25She's in a lot of those. OK.
- 38:27Yeah, yeah. So I should know her among more.
- 38:29Famous, yeah, but. Yeah, yeah, OK, that should be a
- 38:33name. I know.
- 38:33And that's why it rings familiar.
- 38:35But she honestly like her character is important but isn't
- 38:40on the screen a whole lot. But there's also some ambiguity
- 38:42because it feels like she's one of them.
- 38:43But in the glasses, you don't see it.
- 38:45And even after, like, the signal goes out, you don't see it.
- 38:47But like, it feels like there's something there with her.
- 38:49It makes sense like that, the fact of everything.
- 38:52Yeah. And I like that it's.
- 38:53Left ambiguous there at the end still, even though she's clearly
- 38:56on the bad guy's side. But it's like, not sure if she
- 38:59was, like, recruited or if she's like, maybe like a head Mama,
- 39:03you know what I mean? Yeah.
- 39:04Or a force. Yeah, against her.
- 39:06Own will. Yeah, I.
- 39:09Just yeah. So I, I like what this movie
- 39:12does. I like that it talks a lot about
- 39:14propaganda. And I like that it takes like
- 39:17more marginalized people, you know, people in like, we've got
- 39:19this little encampment, you know, and they're all like
- 39:23building their own community and working together.
- 39:25And that's targeted by the cops. And you think it's just because,
- 39:28you know, like, you know, racism and classism and things like
- 39:34that. But part of it is also because
- 39:36they're trying to make sure that they're not being exposed
- 39:38because so many of the people in the like, what they call the
- 39:41terrorist group. But I really like the rebels for
- 39:45us, like when we see them like they're the rebels, that's
- 39:50really why they're being targeted.
- 39:52And it's it, it parallels so much that is still relevant,
- 39:55even heartbreakingly today. Yeah.
- 39:58And it's kind of. Impressive, yeah.
- 40:01It's it's. Impressive and it's also bleak.
- 40:04So I just I got there's a reason this movie is still, you know,
- 40:09so widely renowned and so widely talked about today for like
- 40:12horror fans. And you know, that's one of the
- 40:14things though, that bums. Me out is how it's still
- 40:17relevant today. Like you would have hoped that.
- 40:20Like maybe? Calling shit out and making
- 40:24getting the message out there would have, but no, let's still
- 40:26pass. Laws that makes it even harder
- 40:28for unhoused folks to find a safe place to sleep at night
- 40:31Yeah, that's a local thing that's.
- 40:33Happening here. God, yeah.
- 40:35All right, you. Got any other good stuff I I
- 40:37mean? That's that.
- 40:39Those are the big points. Go ahead and share yours I.
- 40:42Feel like this movie walked a very a very tight line, like a
- 40:51delicate balance of beating you over that with the message and
- 40:57making it still entertaining and not feel like it's beating you
- 41:02over the head. Yes, it's one of those.
- 41:04Movies that it's very blunt with its message, but you don't feel
- 41:07like you're being preached at. Yeah, exactly.
- 41:09And. That's the thing that kills me
- 41:11with some movies, like some of the Purge movies, they kill me
- 41:14with that. Like I I like the message that's
- 41:16being said, but a lot of the times when you just keep
- 41:19outright saying it and like doing that it, it just takes me
- 41:23out of it. But this movie, it doesn't do
- 41:25that. I think a good part of it.
- 41:27Is that Rowdy Roddies character I I don't know why I can't just
- 41:30call him Roddy. Roddy Piper, yeah, He, he's
- 41:35optimistic. He still thinks things are going
- 41:37to get better. He's like, if I if I keep my
- 41:39head down and I work hard, things will eventually get
- 41:41better. And he, we're on that journey
- 41:44with him as his, like, eyes are opened, he's awake again.
- 41:49And I think that's really interesting.
- 41:52That is interesting. And I.
- 41:53Think that kind of. Helps to some of it because
- 41:55you're going on that you're not just like all of a sudden like,
- 41:58oh, bad things are happening. Oh, are these the bad guys?
- 42:01But it's more like, oh, hey, everything's still the same as
- 42:04it was. It's just now I've got a
- 42:05different perspective on it. I think personally the thing.
- 42:08That works most for me is how it's presented.
- 42:11I think the way that they do it with the glass is where you're
- 42:13able to see through the bullshit and you're able to see the
- 42:16messages that are being hidden. That's like, that's a fun way to
- 42:19do it. And then making them aliens.
- 42:21Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's making them not.
- 42:24Human. It dehumanizes them in a way
- 42:28because I mean, they're kind of being not human.
- 42:31And that also helps with like. Our human nature because we can
- 42:33root against a bad guy that is very definitively othered.
- 42:38Yeah, exactly. And unfortunately as.
- 42:40Humans, we love to other. It does, yeah.
- 42:44It helps with that. It helps with that a lot.
- 42:47It just, it takes the message, it retains the message and keeps
- 42:53the core that we know that the message is grounded, but the
- 42:56presentation is not. And I think that that's a great
- 42:59way to balance that out. Yeah, I.
- 43:02Definitely agree with that. It's definitely a different
- 43:04presentation from how a lot of other movies choose to go about
- 43:07it. Yeah, it's a good way to do.
- 43:09It and God, I don't know what else to say that we haven't
- 43:12said, but like, yeah, like the acting, the characters are
- 43:15fantastic. I watch this movie and I feel
- 43:20like I pick up different things every single time I watch it.
- 43:22Absolutely. It's just, yeah.
- 43:24God, it's so good. OK, So what are some bad things?
- 43:29I think for me the main bad is that it just ends so abruptly.
- 43:33It does. Yeah, it ends very abruptly.
- 43:35And I mean, I kind of like. The note that we're ending on
- 43:38that like, OK, all of a sudden chaos maybe is about to erupt.
- 43:41But, you know, we've spent all of this like, we're fighting to
- 43:44take down the bad guys. And then what happens?
- 43:47We see Rowdy and Keith are killed off and we, I mean, yeah,
- 43:52the bad guys are exposed. But what happens after that?
- 43:55We don't know. We don't get that, like,
- 43:57ultimate payoff. It could have been worse than
- 43:58that, John. Carpenter was talking about how
- 44:00he's like, I like bleak endings. I know audiences don't like
- 44:04them, so I kind of wanted to give people a little bit of
- 44:07something, showing the good guys one.
- 44:09But I still wanted to take away a little bit of something.
- 44:11So he like had to kill Roddy, Piper and David.
- 44:15I mean I. Like a bleak ending too.
- 44:17But I almost wish that the ending, it almost feels too
- 44:20ambiguous, like if we had maybe cut to like one of the aliens
- 44:24being like, all right, Plan B, you know, something that shows
- 44:26that like, they're still gonna like take over and win.
- 44:29Like, that's a bleak ending I can get on board with.
- 44:31It's just, and so like, you don't know what's gonna happen
- 44:34next, other than that one alien's not getting his Dick wet
- 44:38no more. But like, that's true.
- 44:40Beyond that, I'm worried. That it would be like real life
- 44:44where people would have should like spell it out for them so
- 44:48blatantly and they would be like, well, OK, I don't care.
- 44:50Well, they'd be like that one the.
- 44:52Real country guy that was in the encampment with them and then he
- 44:56got recruited and he was like well, you know, it's all
- 44:58business partners. Well, he's actually getting.
- 45:01Something from it that there's so many people that do, but they
- 45:04think that someday. They will get something from it.
- 45:06They're deluded. They think that, you know, if
- 45:09they pay their dues, they're they're going to get, I guess
- 45:12you're right. The big piece.
- 45:14Of the pie, you know. Yeah, I suppose that's true.
- 45:19Bad things, man. What are some bad things about
- 45:21this? I will say there are things like
- 45:24I, I feel like a lot of the plot progresses very unnaturally.
- 45:28It's all very much like walk after walk after walk of things.
- 45:32I know the movies are like that a lot for sure, but that's why.
- 45:35I I have to think of this as like a video game because
- 45:38otherwise it falls apart for me. But like the all of a sudden he
- 45:40goes like his world's upended and he goes balls the wall, like
- 45:44I'm going to go into a bank and a grocery.
- 45:46I'm going to fuck shit up. Like that's wild.
- 45:49That's wild. And then he like.
- 45:51Escapes and he goes falling through like a fucking building
- 45:54and falls down a whole hill and he's like, all right, I'm OK,
- 45:57yeah. Again, Hot Rod.
- 46:00Yeah. He's like when he leaves his
- 46:02angry place. That's true.
- 46:03Yeah, I would have. Killed to see Roddy Piper do a
- 46:06punch dance. OK, ugly.
- 46:10Stuff. I mean, the ugly is pretty.
- 46:11Yeah, the uglies. Really.
- 46:13Are I don't feel like we really necessarily need to spell it out
- 46:15because so much of it is still true in in today's time.
- 46:19Like there are people out there that you know, they they do
- 46:22their best, they try and work they try and do, you know, the
- 46:26best they can to provide for themselves and their families.
- 46:29And because of whatever reason, sometimes it's because the
- 46:34barrier for entry is so high, you know, like today, you have
- 46:38to like, especially in the United States, you have to have
- 46:40a car to be able to transport yourself to and from work.
- 46:43You have to have a safe guaranteed place to live where
- 46:47you can properly sleep and shower and charge your phone
- 46:51because a phone is a necessity these days.
- 46:53That way you can be reached. It's most of our alarm clocks.
- 46:57We have to have e-mail. We have to have Internet like
- 46:59the barrier for entry to even get like a minimum wage like
- 47:04like. Entry level job.
- 47:08Is so high and we do have a lot of people that are facing us and
- 47:12that's not even taking into account any like physical or
- 47:15mental health issues that come into play that compound these
- 47:18types of issues so it. And the fact that.
- 47:25Society as a whole tends to be like, well, I've got mine, I
- 47:27don't need to worry about yours. You're hurting my interests, I
- 47:30think, Keith. David's character worded it
- 47:32perfectly when he's talking to nada and he's like, look man,
- 47:36it's like they start us at the finish line and they put us
- 47:39against each other. Like I'm gonna do my best.
- 47:42We're both going to go out there and do our best, but I'm going
- 47:44to do my best to fuck you over and make sure you don't beat me.
- 47:47Absolutely. That's the whole.
- 47:48Point. That's the whole.
- 47:49Game that's been established, absolutely, because if we're
- 47:52fighting each other. We're not going to fight the
- 47:54bigwigs that are making the rules that are controlling us
- 47:56all. Exactly.
- 47:58God, it's like shit like that. Like whenever they say that
- 48:01stuff it just hits. Now I'm sad.
- 48:04That's what the movie. Does can we talk about
- 48:06something? Absurd now?
- 48:08Yeah, let's do some absurd. OK.
- 48:10Five minute fight scene. It's amazing.
- 48:13It's not necessary, but we love it.
- 48:15Do another. That's an It's like Meg
- 48:17Forster's. Eyes.
- 48:19Are those her foster? God damn it I want her to have
- 48:22more Rs in her name. Merge.
- 48:26Forrester. Her eyes are.
- 48:31You asking if? Those are her actual eyes.
- 48:32Yeah. Yeah, they are.
- 48:33John Carper even commented on it.
- 48:35They're beautiful. And hypnotizing and they do not
- 48:37look real. He grew up, he said he.
- 48:39Grew up like watching her and being a big fan of her too and
- 48:42said I don't even know if like growing up and he was like an
- 48:45old older dude by the time that he was but.
- 48:48He was like, yeah, like everybody.
- 48:50Just like is always focused on her eyes and like, yeah, like
- 48:53her eyes are beautiful and stunning, too, but there's a lot
- 48:54more. Yeah.
- 48:55No, I mean she does a. Lot it's just like her eyes like
- 48:58it. It does beg the question like
- 49:00are that is real? It's insane blue.
- 49:02Yes, like I. Don't even know how.
- 49:04That shade is they're like almost like a.
- 49:05Blue silver. Yeah, it's, yeah, it's really
- 49:08like, it's beautiful. And let's see Roddy's fall down
- 49:13the hill. Yeah, so.
- 49:16Many shots. Of him just walking across a
- 49:18train track. You know.
- 49:23There's just, there's a lot of absurd here and it's all fun
- 49:27Them, just like all of the people from their little
- 49:30encampment found the same abandoned department to huddle
- 49:34in. See, that's one of the things I
- 49:36was. Talking about like that and then
- 49:38whenever they all imagine or all managed to meet up for the big
- 49:42meeting for the group because yeah, Keith.
- 49:45David's character. Is in the lobby of the hotel
- 49:47wearing sunglasses, like, hey, wait a minute, Come over here.
- 49:51Yeah. Also the ambiguity of the
- 49:53timeline, cuz in some ways it feels like it's been 3 days and
- 49:57in some ways it feels like it's been six months.
- 50:00That's true. So yeah, there's, there's a lot
- 50:04of absurd here and I honestly, I don't care about any of it cuz
- 50:07I'm having fun. Yeah, OK.
- 50:09Well, you, you said a lot of them.
- 50:12Mine. Is it's funny cuz I grew up
- 50:16playing double O 7 Goldeneye OK and for those of you who played
- 50:21that game and know that game will be very familiar with the
- 50:24sound effects in that game and whenever they shoot guns in this
- 50:27whenever they are going through the radio station and just like
- 50:30firing non-stop it's the sound effects from Goldeneye the
- 50:34entire time. Well, I'm pretty sure they.
- 50:36Reused that same shot and sound over and over and over again
- 50:39because every time there's a shot it's just a close up of the
- 50:42the noozle of the gun. Not even that.
- 50:45Like throughout the movie, Yeah, it's just that.
- 50:47But I know what you're talking about.
- 50:48They use that Yeah, yeah, yeah, the entire.
- 50:50Time but. Like it's just like the like, I
- 50:54don't know if you hear it and you know what I'm talking about,
- 50:57you know exactly what I'm talking about and that shit.
- 51:00Is just burned. Into my brain playing that game
- 51:02as a kid growing up, so maybe some other people will be
- 51:06familiar with it. OK, OK.
- 51:08So what do you rate it? 8.75.
- 51:14OK. Yeah, I'd give a.
- 51:18Solid 9.25. So we've got a starting average.
- 51:22Of nine. Beautiful, wonderful.
- 51:24Love it. Very good.
- 51:25It feels appropriate. Yeah.
- 51:28All right, let's go. All right, so we kick it off.
- 51:35We see the rail yard. Rowdy Roddy Piper is walking
- 51:40along the rails. He's gone to a city.
- 51:43He's just, he's just a little mullet haired flannel dude bro
- 51:48in the big city. God bless.
- 51:49Much like Travis and last week's Travis.
- 51:54God bless them boys. Listen, if we don't remember
- 51:58this on our own, somebody at us and remind us to post the
- 52:02picture where Travis is posting standing right next to the TV in
- 52:06his flannel shirt with his little plastic wiffle ball bat.
- 52:11It wasn't just like Rowdy Rowdy. It's it's a beautiful, it's a
- 52:15work of art photo, if I may say so.
- 52:17So just if we haven't posted it by now, just remind us to post
- 52:21it so. Nada is walking through town.
- 52:26He goes to the unemployment. Office.
- 52:28Yeah, and they don't have any. Drops.
- 52:29Yeah, he said he. Worked in Denver.
- 52:31He worked there for 10 years. But like everything kind of just
- 52:34like shut down and there's nothing available for him now
- 52:37for his qualifications. Yeah.
- 52:40So he's. More shots of him walking around
- 52:43town. He's he's the street preacher
- 52:45who's speaking the truth. This is the first time my.
- 52:47Skin hasn't like, curled away from a street preacher.
- 52:51Yeah, 'cause this guy's. Like actually saying good
- 52:53things. Yeah.
- 52:54I don't know if it's. Different in other cities, but
- 52:56generally in Kentucky, if you see a street preacher, they're
- 52:59condemning the queers and I think generally when that.
- 53:02Happens. It's because one, that's during
- 53:04pride, or two, you're on a college campus, which that's
- 53:08just kind of like a common thing at college campuses.
- 53:11Yeah. And he passes ATV.
- 53:13Display. There's a great moment on the TV
- 53:15display. This is one that I caught for
- 53:17the first time last night that now Travis is going to be
- 53:21watching for the next, next watch.
- 53:23There is that there is like a movie or TV show or something,
- 53:27and it's like a couple of guys and they're like celebrating
- 53:31winning, like a touch football game or something.
- 53:33Like, yeah, we did it. It comes up later.
- 53:36So this is important. You know, it's something cool.
- 53:38You weren't in the room during this, but on our Blu-ray they
- 53:42have. They had the footage from those
- 53:46and they assembled it and you can just watch what was on the
- 53:49TV. That was the fullest segments.
- 53:52Oh, that's cool. Yeah.
- 53:53So whoever's doing a. Speech or the commercials or the
- 53:56live events that were taking place.
- 53:58You can watch them on if you have the Blu-ray.
- 54:00That's cool. Yeah, it is.
- 54:01Cool. And then we cut.
- 54:02To like later that night he's kind of sleeping in an alley and
- 54:05he's watching ATV through an apartment window and it's
- 54:07somebody talking about the smut filth on TV these days yes and
- 54:11they specifically. Call.
- 54:13So here's a cool thing about this.
- 54:15They are. The characters are, maybe this
- 54:19is later that they do this, but one of the moments when they are
- 54:23criticizing violence and sexuality and media, Yeah, it's
- 54:29based off of the likeness of of Roger Ebert and one of the other
- 54:33dudes on one of their shows. Shit.
- 54:35Yeah. So it's them.
- 54:36And like, it's that character calling out John Carpenter.
- 54:39And I think there's another director that they call out.
- 54:42So I can't remember who exactly, I forget which.
- 54:44Movie it was that we were talking about not too long ago,
- 54:47but you're like, yeah, Roger Ebert probably fucking hated
- 54:49this movie too. OK yeah.
- 54:50And I looked it up and it was like.
- 54:52And Noah's child's play too. Oh yeah.
- 54:53And it was one of his least favorite movies of 1990.
- 54:55Yeah, exactly. Yeah, the dude fucking.
- 54:57Just hated horror for the sake of it.
- 54:59Yeah, and he and. The thing.
- 55:03The motherfucking thing. Also John Carpenter.
- 55:06Also who? Who?
- 55:08Keith motherfucking David and Kurt Russells.
- 55:11And Kurt Russells. Kurt Russells with his beard, as
- 55:14the Lord intended. I did not appreciate when we got
- 55:18to the Fast and Furious franchise, the movies with him
- 55:21in it, and we saw his entire face.
- 55:23We're not meant to see Kurt Russell's face.
- 55:25Jesse then. I've got a John Carpenter movie
- 55:28that you should probably never watch.
- 55:29Escape from New York? Yes.
- 55:31He he has. Beardless and that.
- 55:33But it has Loomis. Donald Pleasants as the
- 55:36President of the United States of America.
- 55:39I do like Donald Pleasants. I hate Loomis, but I like Donald
- 55:42Pleasants. He's fantastic.
- 55:43You need to watch that movie. God, okay, so.
- 55:48He arrives at. A construction site seeking
- 55:52work. The guy's like, all right, this
- 55:53is a union job. He's like, all right, that's not
- 55:55a problem. Do you mind?
- 55:56He like, takes. He's like, can I talk to the?
- 55:59Shop Person Shot mask Shot mask. Yeah.
- 56:04Yeah, he says. It a lot better than we're.
- 56:06Saying it, Yeah. And he gets yeah, he gets hired.
- 56:09And then the the person run the show is like, listen, you can't
- 56:13sleep here you so you got to find some place to go.
- 56:15And Frank's like, hey, listen, I know a place you can go if you
- 56:18want to follow me. And Nada says Nope.
- 56:21And then he just like follows him covertly, but not that
- 56:24covertly because Frank's like, hey, like, why?
- 56:27Like I told you, you could follow me.
- 56:29It's weird that you're doing. It's like I don't like.
- 56:32When people follow me and he's like, I don't like following
- 56:34people unless I know where they're going.
- 56:36This and he told. You where you're where you're
- 56:38going. It's like pleasant little
- 56:39pleasant town, they call it. Something I imagine considering.
- 56:42The history of these people in the current situation that
- 56:45trusting people based off of word alone is probably not he
- 56:48get that but. Also, he's got very much the
- 56:51energy of Talia where we're like, hey, Talia, it's time to
- 56:54go outside and go potty. And she's like, no.
- 56:56And we're like, OK, well, we're going to go outside and get some
- 56:59fresh air and we step outside and she's like, hey, open the
- 57:02fucking door and let me out here so and then.
- 57:06We're like, what are you? Doing out here and she goes
- 57:07nothing. I just, you know, I just, I
- 57:09wanted some fresh air stuff. Just, yeah, I'm just looking at
- 57:12the carpet here. So.
- 57:17They arrive at the encampment and there's food, there's all
- 57:20kinds of people there. It's cool.
- 57:21Frank's being a good guy hooking a dog, and he explains.
- 57:24He's got a wife and two kids in Detroit.
- 57:26He's been gone six months. He used to work at the steel
- 57:29factories, but he got laid off because there's just a lack of
- 57:32work. And he was like, you know, those
- 57:33fat cats, They get richer and richer and richer, and then what
- 57:36happens? Like, we get kicked out to the
- 57:38streets. Yeah, you can tell.
- 57:40He's at the point in the cycle where he's fed up with the shit,
- 57:43but not he's like, I don't know man.
- 57:44I still believe in America, you know, You just put your work.
- 57:49Into everything and. Things will come up.
- 57:51It's like the positive. It's like what people were
- 57:53promised when they heard the Reaganomics stuff.
- 57:56And here's the thing. If you're watching this maybe,
- 57:58and you know nothing about Rowdy Roddy Piper, and you're hearing
- 58:01Keith David talk about his wife and two kids at home, and you
- 58:04see that Nada has a wedding ring on his finger.
- 58:08And as you understand that that's not Nada the character
- 58:10having a wedding ring on his finger, that is Rowdy Roddy
- 58:13Piper, the man who will not take off his wedding ring when he
- 58:16films, even in movies where it would make sense to not have a
- 58:19wedding ring, such as how it comes to Frogtown.
- 58:21Yeah. And that's one more reason that
- 58:23I love this little man. I respect that too, Yes.
- 58:26Big man. Yeah, so it's not yeah, big man,
- 58:29but it like it's it's not like a character choice.
- 58:33It's it's an actor choice. He keeps his his wedding ring
- 58:36on. Don't read into it just because
- 58:38Keith David's character has a wife and kids so later.
- 58:42That night he's just out there playing harmonica and that's how
- 58:45he unwinds. And then he sees you do some of
- 58:48the group of there watching TV and the TV station is hijacked
- 58:52by a rogue broadcast of a man that's trying to wake up the
- 58:56sheeple he's talking about. There's a movement that began 8
- 59:01months ago. Scientists accidentally
- 59:02discovered blank like it cuts in and out throughout.
- 59:06They created a repulsive or a repressive society walled into a
- 59:10trance. Focus only on our own game.
- 59:12Yep. And then no.
- 59:14Everybody. You see that one guy who becomes
- 59:17the supporter later, but yeah, gets up.
- 59:19He's like, what is this shit? The the.
- 59:21Redneck guy, Yeah, he's got a real thick accent.
- 59:25Yeah, yeah, he's trying to shut it.
- 59:27Down and just make it seem like it's a bunch of bullshit.
- 59:29He'd be one of those. Far below the poverty MAGA
- 59:32types. Yeah, for sure.
- 59:34In in. Today's society, yeah, so.
- 59:38Nada gets up and he decides to go wonder and he looks over at
- 59:43the church nearby and he sees one of the guys from the
- 59:46encampment, Gilbert. Gilbert, Yeah.
- 59:48And he takes the street preacher from before and leads him.
- 59:52Another thing that's going on during this, The street preacher
- 59:56is saying exactly what the guy is saying on the TV, and he's
- 1:00:00not even close. So it's like stuff is being
- 1:00:02broadcasted through him even. Yes.
- 1:00:04So they take him and they whisk him into the church.
- 1:00:07Yeah. And then the next.
- 1:00:08Morning Nada talks to Gilbert and he was like what's going on
- 1:00:13at the church last night and Gilbert was like oh, choir
- 1:00:16practice he goes well it ran pretty late.
- 1:00:17I heard it going till about. 4:00 AM And he goes.
- 1:00:20Well, we're doing an important work there and the church knows
- 1:00:22that and they let us use our facilities.
- 1:00:24And of course, Nada, being who he is, doesn't buy that.
- 1:00:27And he he barters for some binoculars from somebody else in
- 1:00:32the little their little town. Yeah, you can see Frank is kind.
- 1:00:35Of eyeing him, keeping an eye on him.
- 1:00:37He brought this guy here and he's noticing some suspicious
- 1:00:39shit going on. Dude it but.
- 1:00:41That's so real. It's like when you give
- 1:00:43somebody, like, a job recommendation, you vouch for
- 1:00:46the. Yeah.
- 1:00:46And then you're like, this guy fucked this up.
- 1:00:48Yeah. And especially because, like,
- 1:00:49that's his living place, you know?
- 1:00:51And especially in a place like that where so much of it relies
- 1:00:54on, like, goodwill and being an important, like, being good to
- 1:00:57each other, a contributing member of society.
- 1:00:59We live in a society, people. Yeah.
- 1:01:01Like it just, I can see him and he even at one point, he's like,
- 1:01:05listen, you mind your own business.
- 1:01:08You don't worry about this. Just do what you got to do.
- 1:01:10I'm trying to get back to my wife and kids.
- 1:01:12You need to focus on what's right in front of you.
- 1:01:14Yeah. Yeah, exactly so.
- 1:01:18He goes over there, he takes the binoculars and he's just
- 1:01:21watching the church for a little bit.
- 1:01:23He sees some more activity over there and then.
- 1:01:27That night. Oh, no, OK, sorry.
- 1:01:31He does end up going into the church that day.
- 1:01:36He follows them over there and he.
- 1:01:38He sees like a wire going through a hole in the wall.
- 1:01:40And he realizes that the choir practice is actually just a
- 1:01:43tape. Yeah.
- 1:01:44It's just like stuff that's being.
- 1:01:45Piped through on speakers and it's covering up.
- 1:01:47There like covert meeting where they're talking about how they
- 1:01:50need to recruit more people and not enough people are part of
- 1:01:52this movement. They've got to make moves like,
- 1:01:55oh, we've got to make them see, no, they're not ready yet.
- 1:01:59And so there's like this box of something he's also before like.
- 1:02:02When he first walked in, he saw a lab equipment on the table.
- 1:02:05And then next to all of, like, the beakers and stuff, he saw
- 1:02:08glasses. Yes.
- 1:02:10Yeah. So then he pulls away that false
- 1:02:12door, that hidden door, and he finds the boxes that are full of
- 1:02:16all kinds of shit he doesn't know yet.
- 1:02:17Yeah. But he makes a note of it and
- 1:02:19puts the wall back and gets out of there.
- 1:02:21And that. Yeah.
- 1:02:21The street preacher. Like sneaks up on him and he's
- 1:02:24like, you'll be back. They all come back.
- 1:02:26So that night there is a raid on the church and the encampment
- 1:02:34and everything is like dozed to the ground.
- 1:02:37The street preacher and Gilbert are being harassed by the cops.
- 1:02:41They're being beaten. And we see at one point, like,
- 1:02:48not a seas Frank from across the camp, but they're kind of
- 1:02:51separated by the cops. And they end up running separate
- 1:02:53ways. Nada's running through an
- 1:02:55alleyway where he sees, you know, the church people are
- 1:02:57being attacked by the cops. He finds this like, older kid,
- 1:03:01like teenager age who's like huddled in a corner, terrified.
- 1:03:05And he's like the binoculars. From yeah, he's like come with.
- 1:03:07Me and they sneak into the apartment that happened to have
- 1:03:10the rest of the guy's family and that's where they stay for the
- 1:03:13night and then the next morning we see them all like they're
- 1:03:16just checking the remains. Of the encampment, everything
- 1:03:18has been completely demolished and nobody knows where to go
- 1:03:21next. Yeah.
- 1:03:22So this is where Nodded goes back to the church and he gets
- 1:03:27the box hidden from inside the wall.
- 1:03:29And when he like looks at it, he's like, that's just some
- 1:03:31glasses. He takes out a pair and he puts
- 1:03:34the box like he hides it in a trash can.
- 1:03:37Bad move. That's not like a solid hiding
- 1:03:40place. I'm not at all surprised by what
- 1:03:42happens later. No, it all makes.
- 1:03:44Sense so yeah, he takes a pair and then he puts them on and he
- 1:03:48goes walking down the sidewalk and he notices everything's
- 1:03:51suddenly black and white and then he looks up and then he
- 1:03:54sees the Billboard and the Billboard just says we've got
- 1:03:58like all of the. Billboards and signs and
- 1:04:00everything. It's like Marian reproduce, it
- 1:04:02says so the. Billboard says yeah, obey.
- 1:04:05And then he looks at another one.
- 1:04:06Yeah, Marian reproduce. And then he goes over to a
- 1:04:09magazine rack which has all kinds of things, saying things
- 1:04:13like no independent thought, consume, buy, stay asleep,
- 1:04:17submit, things like that. So.
- 1:04:20It's just based off of the. AD or whatever is being shown it
- 1:04:23just it's subliminally and when he takes off.
- 1:04:26The glasses, it's like, it's unassuming things like travel,
- 1:04:32you know, travel advertisements or like a GQ article or, you
- 1:04:36know, there's like it makes you like think about like, oh, man,
- 1:04:40like I kind of almost wanted to pause in on like the magazine
- 1:04:43and read what the article is about.
- 1:04:45I know, yeah. Tie it into.
- 1:04:46The message it'd. Be kind of interesting.
- 1:04:48Yeah. And there's one guy at.
- 1:04:49The magazine rack, that is an alien.
- 1:04:52Yeah, and he is like a. He looks like a fuck you money
- 1:04:55kind of type because he's in a real nice suit and he's in a
- 1:04:58hurry and he's got a big wad of cash that he just hands to the
- 1:05:02guy the stands super uneasy with.
- 1:05:05Nada. Just watching him the entire
- 1:05:06time, he's like getting suspicious, yeah.
- 1:05:10Well, yeah, I mean, to be fair. That also, I don't care how
- 1:05:13normal of a person you are, if somebody's like exactly it's
- 1:05:16gonna. Be like what?
- 1:05:17The fuck is this guy? Yeah, it's being weird over
- 1:05:19here, but because. We know that this guy is an
- 1:05:21alien. We can.
- 1:05:22He's getting paranoid. Yeah, he's.
- 1:05:23Reasonably. Paranoid, but also, even without
- 1:05:26an alien, somebody looking like that is reasonable.
- 1:05:28Yeah, exactly. So and when he's doing that, he
- 1:05:32looks at the money and the money says this is your God, Yes.
- 1:05:37I there was a part of me that was like, it would be fun to
- 1:05:39print a bunch of these for Scarefest.
- 1:05:42Then when you go for like that. 'D be awesome.
- 1:05:47I would. You know, You know what?
- 1:05:48Hand that to John Carpenter. If he ever did that, like, all
- 1:05:52right, here you go buddy, and this is your guy, he'd be like,
- 1:05:54get the fuck out of my. Line maybe like.
- 1:05:57Maybe I respect that. I might wrestle you, but get the
- 1:06:00fuck out of here. Yeah, like meet me.
- 1:06:02Over at Lex Live later and buy me a shot of whiskey and then
- 1:06:04we'll talk, Yeah. So yeah, this is a.
- 1:06:10He he goes like searching throughout the town and he's
- 1:06:15just like seeing all of this kind of stuff.
- 1:06:17He gets into the grocery store and this is where we're seeing
- 1:06:21like a bunch of this type of stuff and somebody finally is
- 1:06:24like, why are you staring? And he goes, you're real fucking
- 1:06:28ugly format a high face over here.
- 1:06:31You see, it's funny, when I take off the glasses, you look fine
- 1:06:33and then when I put them on, can't stand to look at you.
- 1:06:36You're we're fine either way and he's just going off and he's
- 1:06:39like you. You're OK, This one real fucking
- 1:06:43ugly. It's just like being super mean
- 1:06:45to everybody there. Yeah, so.
- 1:06:48That's when a bunch of people pick up their wrists and they
- 1:06:50talk into their watches, which, again, this movie has a lot of
- 1:06:54longevity. I feel like this would play out
- 1:06:57very differently in 2024 because so many people have smart
- 1:07:01watches. Yeah, it's a yeah.
- 1:07:03Completely different situation, but they like like this one can
- 1:07:06see. So yeah, he is starting.
- 1:07:08To get the. Attention of the police around
- 1:07:10there. So he gets the hell out of there
- 1:07:13and yeah, as he's running away the cops, he gets hassled by
- 1:07:16some. Cops and they run into a
- 1:07:18network. He punches one of them and takes
- 1:07:20their gun, shoots the other one, and then he shoots the first one
- 1:07:24that's starting to stand back up.
- 1:07:26And then he goes running. He gets a shotgun out of their
- 1:07:30cop car and he enters the bank. And he said, I came here to kick
- 1:07:33ass and chew bubble gum, and I'm all out of bubble gum.
- 1:07:36And then I sees them starting to lift up to their little watches
- 1:07:39again. He said, mom don't like
- 1:07:41tattletails, blasts them. And then he shoots out a camera.
- 1:07:46And then he sees a human cop and he's like, go.
- 1:07:49And the human cop does. So he spares them.
- 1:07:52Yeah, so then he carjacks a woman.
- 1:07:55And this is Holly, played by Mac Foster.
- 1:07:58Merge Forester. And.
- 1:08:03He he says you're gonna just need to take me to your house.
- 1:08:06And she's like, what? I don't feel comfortable with
- 1:08:08that. And he goes, well, you don't
- 1:08:09really have a choice. And she goes, you have two guns,
- 1:08:12you can feel comfortable doing whatever you want.
- 1:08:14No, he's like. I'm sorry, she's like, you're
- 1:08:17not sorry. You have two guns, you're in
- 1:08:19control. And did you like the neighbors?
- 1:08:21Out there that are like hi Holly and like.
- 1:08:27And so they get in there. And he takes off the glasses and
- 1:08:29he's like, man, this thing is like coming down for real
- 1:08:32intense high. And he's, like, trying to
- 1:08:35explain everything that he saw. And none of it makes any sense
- 1:08:39to her because the like, why would it?
- 1:08:43Why would it make any sense? And, you know, she's trying to
- 1:08:47do the like, OK, we're going to appease this person that's
- 1:08:50taking me hostage. We're going to be kind.
- 1:08:52And then she's like, can I get up and get a drink?
- 1:08:55So she gets up and get a drink, and he starts to ask about her
- 1:08:57because generally, he's not like, I'm going to kill people.
- 1:09:00I see kind of guy like yeah. And he's seen that she's.
- 1:09:04Not got a formaldehyde face, so he's willing to hang with her
- 1:09:09and she's an assistant program director for Cable 54 and he's
- 1:09:14like, oh hey, we can get the message out from the cable show
- 1:09:18then that's a great idea. He gets really excited and.
- 1:09:21Stands up real quick and then she takes that opportunity to
- 1:09:24take the wine bottle and bash him in the head.
- 1:09:27He. Flies through this window and.
- 1:09:31Rolls. Down 50 cartoon hills at like it
- 1:09:35just he just keeps going it's like if you've ever seen Kung
- 1:09:38Pao like at the beginning where the baby's going down the hill
- 1:09:41and the woman goes oh baby and. Just bye.
- 1:09:44Bye, yeah. Rolls it down there.
- 1:09:47Yeah, it's kind of like that. Yeah, he he takes a little
- 1:09:50beating down there and he makes it to the bottom of the hill.
- 1:09:53He's OK, but he's like, I'm not going back there.
- 1:09:56So he ends up sleeping under a bridge for the rest of the
- 1:09:58night. Yeah.
- 1:09:59And then he sneaks to. The work site, he worked there
- 1:10:02for approximately a day before he didn't show up.
- 1:10:04So I kind of get why the the guy was hesitant to hire him in the
- 1:10:071st place. Yeah, he's over.
- 1:10:10There, trying to get Frank's attention, but Frank doesn't
- 1:10:12want anything. Yeah, he's like you.
- 1:10:14Killed people and also quit your job.
- 1:10:16And also, yeah, I put my home in danger so bye.
- 1:10:21Yeah, so. He then goes and returns to the
- 1:10:24alley where he left the glasses, but the trash can is empty
- 1:10:28because people collect the trash.
- 1:10:30Go figure. But fortunately, they just
- 1:10:32collected the trash. So he climbs into the dumpster
- 1:10:36truck, which could have been a much worse scene than it was.
- 1:10:38It's funny because he gets in there, he finds the box right
- 1:10:40away and he grabs an extra pair of glasses and then the truck
- 1:10:44starts to move. And at first you think maybe
- 1:10:46he's going to be compacted, but all it's doing is dumping him
- 1:10:48back out. But the way he's trashed, yeah,
- 1:10:51the way he's reacting, he's like, no.
- 1:10:53And then he just falls on the alley floor.
- 1:10:55He didn't want to fall. Again, he just had a rough one.
- 1:10:59Not again. Through his trauma, he speaks
- 1:11:05so. He pulls himself back together.
- 1:11:07He stands up and he goes to walk back out.
- 1:11:09And then what do you know if Frank's standing there and
- 1:11:11Frank's like, here's one week. 'S pay.
- 1:11:13This is the best I could do because Frank's a good guy.
- 1:11:15Yeah, he's also a good guy. Generally wants to hollow people
- 1:11:17out. And he's like, you know, maybe
- 1:11:18go get out of here, go someplace else, make this work for now.
- 1:11:23And then Rowdy Roddy Piper chooses violence.
- 1:11:26And I mean that in the most literal sense.
- 1:11:28Well, he's like here. Man, like he tries to explain to
- 1:11:31him like he's been doing, he's like, you need to put these
- 1:11:33glasses on. You need to see it like things
- 1:11:35are weird with these glasses on. He does not want to wear those
- 1:11:39glasses, but he's tired of people not seeing what he's
- 1:11:42seeing. So he you know what would have
- 1:11:43been fun? Is in school, you know where
- 1:11:46they do like the drunk driving thing to like make you
- 1:11:49understand how bad it is to drive drug.
- 1:11:52If like, somebody denied putting on the glasses and the
- 1:11:56instructor just starts fucking punching them, you got to fight
- 1:11:59them, yeah? Oh man, we're going to.
- 1:12:01Get a German suplex going here. That'd.
- 1:12:06Be a rough man. Yeah, yeah, it's also those
- 1:12:10drunk. Driving goggles.
- 1:12:12They distort things. It's not.
- 1:12:14To be fair, I don't think I've ever driven drunk.
- 1:12:17I've never driven. Drunk either, but I've also I've
- 1:12:20been drunk and that's not what it's like.
- 1:12:22It's like when you play Grand Theft Auto and.
- 1:12:24Yeah, drive drunk, I guess. Just like the car swerves and
- 1:12:27something like that's not what it does.
- 1:12:29I will say the. Best like distracted driving
- 1:12:32demonstration we ever had was in our defensive driving class and
- 1:12:35we had to do like the dial the phone because it was supposed to
- 1:12:38be like propped up on a like a hands free type thing in the
- 1:12:41phone. Anyway.
- 1:12:43Do you not remember this where it was like the little arcade
- 1:12:45driving thing? Yeah, I remember that.
- 1:12:47Yeah. And it was like, you have to.
- 1:12:48Type in this number while also driving out of the parking lot.
- 1:12:51I don't remember that part. Oh, I remember it.
- 1:12:53And I was like trying to type it and drive.
- 1:12:55And it was. That was the most realistic
- 1:12:57experience I've ever had for like a distracted or impaired
- 1:13:01driving scenario. But those goggles?
- 1:13:04No, no. So.
- 1:13:07We had this big 5 minute 22nd fight scene between the two of
- 1:13:11them. It's fucking amazing, yeah.
- 1:13:13Like when? You think it's about the end.
- 1:13:15It keeps going, it just refuses to stop and it ends ultimately
- 1:13:21with them both on the ground. Not a winning.
- 1:13:24Taking Frank and then forcing the glasses on him.
- 1:13:26He's like, look at this shit. And then he actually sees what
- 1:13:30he's talking about. The thing is watching.
- 1:13:31This fight last night, I just kept laughing because it just
- 1:13:35made me think of our cats fighting because like we'd think
- 1:13:38that they would be done and then all of a sudden they go at it
- 1:13:40again and we're like, can you guys just not?
- 1:13:43It's like. That but these guys are quieter
- 1:13:46when they fought the. Cats yell.
- 1:13:49Yeah. The cats are like, oh.
- 1:13:50My God, are one of you dead? Time out, time out.
- 1:13:55That's what they're saying, yeah.
- 1:13:56All right, so. The fights.
- 1:13:57Wrapped up, they're both on board.
- 1:13:59They both walk out with a pair of sunglasses, and they're both
- 1:14:02skeptical. Yeah, so they check into a.
- 1:14:04Hotel together and he warns Frank about wearing the glasses
- 1:14:09too because Frank's just woken up, you know, and he's going
- 1:14:11through the same kind of thing where he's like looking at
- 1:14:13everything and he's like hey, you're going to get a bad
- 1:14:15hangover if you keep those on TI you're going to want to take
- 1:14:18them off so we get a little. Bit of back story on Nada here.
- 1:14:21He actually opens up to Frank. He was a runaway at 13 years old
- 1:14:25because his father was fucking. Abusive.
- 1:14:27His dad turned me in. Suddenly he actually held a
- 1:14:30knife to AI doubt his dad. Turned me and I bet his dad was
- 1:14:33always mean and it just took him growing up a little bit to
- 1:14:36understand it. It could be, yeah.
- 1:14:39I I. Strongly suspect that so.
- 1:14:43Yeah, he had a bad life, and he's just been a homeless man
- 1:14:47ever since he was thirteen years old.
- 1:14:49He's just been roaming around the entire time.
- 1:14:52Yeah. And you know, that's all we we
- 1:14:55just get a little perspective on the character.
- 1:14:57It cuts to the next day. Frank's walking around and he's
- 1:15:00getting. Yeah, he's.
- 1:15:01Getting like groceries or something.
- 1:15:03And he's coming back to the hotel and Gilbert's there and he
- 1:15:05sees Frank with the glasses and he's like, hey, right of a
- 1:15:08meeting, Don't let anybody follow you.
- 1:15:14But you know, just just come to this meeting.
- 1:15:15It's fine. So at the meeting that night,
- 1:15:18they get they're wearing their glasses when they get in there
- 1:15:20and like they're seeing people that they recognize from the
- 1:15:23encampment and everything. And they're like, here, put
- 1:15:26these in. And you know what?
- 1:15:28I should have put this as my absurd, honestly, put in the
- 1:15:31fucking contact. I can't do it without a mirror.
- 1:15:34And I don't even watch myself when I'm doing it, but like I
- 1:15:37still, there's still like an element of meeting to see where
- 1:15:39you're like, I don't know. I don't do that shit because I
- 1:15:43refuse to. It's because you need 2.
- 1:15:45Eyes to have depth perception is part of it so just like seeing
- 1:15:49your finger come towards your eye you still don't get like
- 1:15:52perfect and you want to do it one eye it's it just doesn't
- 1:15:55really work without mirrors and I know there are people out
- 1:15:58there that can do it but these two people that we have no
- 1:16:01indication to believe that they've ever worn glasses or
- 1:16:04contacts are just shoving little flimsy plastic lenses into their
- 1:16:09eye holes are just comfortable with this.
- 1:16:11Also, they're not washing their hands.
- 1:16:13Jesse, hold on. Video game.
- 1:16:18Video game. Yeah, that's like one of those
- 1:16:20that you're like gently, like with the little joystick, like
- 1:16:23press X to contact. Yes.
- 1:16:25Yeah, that's what they did there.
- 1:16:26They. Pressed X Yes I.
- 1:16:28Need to ground this a little. Bit here for you because you're
- 1:16:30getting very caught up in that right there.
- 1:16:32Thank you. I think it doesn't.
- 1:16:33Help that I just recently had my like annual eye appointment so
- 1:16:37it's like it's OK. All right, so fresh wound and.
- 1:16:41The. Thing is, they they they have
- 1:16:42less interference with the yeah, So it doesn't.
- 1:16:45Give them like the same kind of like hangover type situation.
- 1:16:49So they are, they're talking about how they're basically just
- 1:16:56a source of fuel. Like they're resources for the
- 1:16:58aliens. The aliens are on this planet.
- 1:17:01They're treating them as like a third world to suck the
- 1:17:04resources dry. And then the human cops are
- 1:17:07telling. Groups that they are commies, so
- 1:17:10that's how they're rationalizing, attacking them
- 1:17:13all the time. Yeah, Gilbert.
- 1:17:14Says that they need to keep up their appearances so that way
- 1:17:17the movement can grow. They can't give their hand yet
- 1:17:20because they don't have enough numbers to fight them off, but
- 1:17:23they need to work on locating where the signal is coming from
- 1:17:26and turn it off. Holly then appears and she is
- 1:17:31talking to Nada. She's like she's she queries the
- 1:17:34radio. Station's name first because you
- 1:17:36think that. The radio.
- 1:17:37Station. Whichever one she works at.
- 1:17:39KRDR. They have this device. At the top of their building
- 1:17:43where that may be transmitting the stuff.
- 1:17:44And actually they are not. I work there and it's OK.
- 1:17:47Yeah. And.
- 1:17:49So he goes over to talk to her and then they're like
- 1:17:51reconciliation is interrupted by explosions and gunfire.
- 1:17:56The police are raiding this underground meeting area and it
- 1:18:00should have been a. Giveaway that it was.
- 1:18:02Her when she and like. Also, because we didn't mention
- 1:18:05this, but when after she, like, knocked him out the window and
- 1:18:09down a fucking mountain, she called the cops and she was
- 1:18:11like, no, this is Holly. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, No, I'm
- 1:18:15pretty sure. Like, she was way too cash.
- 1:18:18You're right. Yeah.
- 1:18:19You're right, there are all the signs were there.
- 1:18:21The signs were there and we're. Just like we're just mesmerized
- 1:18:24by her strong voice and pretty eyes, beautiful eyes, so.
- 1:18:29They are and it's like full on fight here.
- 1:18:31There's Gilbert shot. Yeah, so the.
- 1:18:35Nada and Frank are making their way through the alley.
- 1:18:37Frank takes one of the. Watches.
- 1:18:39Yeah, cuz one of the rebels was like working on understanding
- 1:18:43the mechanisms in the watch that how they communicate and how
- 1:18:46they do the teleportation. Yes, I was gonna say telekinesis
- 1:18:52and I knew that wasn't correct. So they're in an alley and it
- 1:18:56seems like we're in the all this lost moment.
- 1:18:59And then he like hits a button and it's like portal will be
- 1:19:02disappearing in 10 seconds. No, he, he causes.
- 1:19:06The watch to malfunction yes and this is a fell safe.
- 1:19:09So it's like all right here's a temporary portal for like a hole
- 1:19:12for you to jump through This will go away in 10 seconds.
- 1:19:15So this is your chance which made me think if they were ever
- 1:19:19out and their technology was flawed and just out in public
- 1:19:23and their one of their watch just like randomly malfunction,
- 1:19:26all of a sudden the portal is going to open up and people are
- 1:19:28going to have questions. Would.
- 1:19:33You jump into a. Portal, if you saw that, yes.
- 1:19:37I feel like I. Would too and I.
- 1:19:38Feel like that's part of why I'm not built to survive or.
- 1:19:43Maybe why I am? Built to survive, Exactly.
- 1:19:45You don't know until you're tested in the elements
- 1:19:48themselves, right? That was.
- 1:19:49Doing that was the key to Yeah, that's that's what.
- 1:19:52Saved them, yeah. So they get in there and when
- 1:19:54they get they're like underground and they overhear
- 1:19:58some of the aliens talking about how they.
- 1:20:01You know, the reports are coming in that they killed the entire
- 1:20:04rebel base and they celebrate. And this mirrors the, like
- 1:20:07little touch football winning celebration from the TV at the
- 1:20:12beginning where they like they're like, yeah, we rule and
- 1:20:15they like high five and mirrors that.
- 1:20:17Yeah. And I went like, I was like, oh,
- 1:20:19that's like the beginning. And you're like, what?
- 1:20:20And I was like, we'll just rewatch it.
- 1:20:23OK. Wow.
- 1:20:23OK. Yes, yeah.
- 1:20:25And I think that I thought that was like a real funny.
- 1:20:27Like it wasn't super over, but it was there.
- 1:20:30I never noticed that. Yeah, That's interesting.
- 1:20:33That's really cool. Yeah, Yeah.
- 1:20:35Because I was just like, why are they being so over at the top?
- 1:20:37And then I remembered the like, college Bros from the beginning
- 1:20:40of the TV high fiving. And I was like, oh, they're
- 1:20:42doing that thing. Could have been them.
- 1:20:45Maybe. Now we have to really rewatch
- 1:20:48it, yeah. So yeah, they're making their
- 1:20:50way through. The place and then they stumble
- 1:20:52upon this reception that's going on.
- 1:20:55It is a place where people have brought their human counterparts
- 1:20:59that are there helping with the movement.
- 1:21:01It's the RNC. It's basically the RNC.
- 1:21:04Yeah, like it's just like it's the aliens mixed with humans
- 1:21:09that they have recruited. Yeah.
- 1:21:11And. It's, I thought it was really
- 1:21:13interesting. He's like, all right, so we've
- 1:21:16done the numbers. By 2025 we will be under control
- 1:21:20fully. This was.
- 1:21:22OK, I talked earlier about how like alarming it was to hear
- 1:21:26that tagline in an election year, but then hearing the 2025
- 1:21:31with the Project 2025 stuff being like a very real looming
- 1:21:35threat right now, That's so fucking crazy.
- 1:21:37That that ended up lining up like that if I got a mysterious
- 1:21:40period. Of sunglasses.
- 1:21:41And I looked at the screen and I saw some of these people.
- 1:21:45Yeah, with purple faces. I wouldn't be shocked.
- 1:21:49I would not be. Wouldn't be.
- 1:21:50Shocked. They're basically out there in
- 1:21:52the open at this point and they're not even.
- 1:21:54Trying to hide it, they are not. So while they're there, the guy,
- 1:21:59the homeless man from the encampment before that was all
- 1:22:02about fuck this TV program. Remember they got the the.
- 1:22:05Hillbilly one. Yeah, he's, he's got his.
- 1:22:07Hair slicked back. And he's one of them.
- 1:22:08He's like, hey, I didn't know you guys were recruited too.
- 1:22:11Yeah. Have you all seen this place?
- 1:22:13I can give you a tour real quick.
- 1:22:14And she is one of those. New money people so excited to
- 1:22:18show off his wealth and I think this is also cuz it's so well
- 1:22:22done because he's like a character that we know and
- 1:22:25recognize from before yeah. So he's an easy in for these
- 1:22:29two. But also, it's such a realistic,
- 1:22:31like, prototype of somebody who is not afraid to, once they get
- 1:22:36theirs, like, shove it down the people, you know, show off.
- 1:22:39Yeah. Like be happy about it and not
- 1:22:42be modest whatsoever. Yes, Yeah.
- 1:22:44So. He's just taking.
- 1:22:45Them around the place and then they end up making their way to
- 1:22:49the radio station and they're like hey do you think that you
- 1:22:51can get us in there and maybe get us a closer look at it and
- 1:22:55he's like well I. Know a few people and so he
- 1:22:58starts to ask the guards, and then Keith and Roddy pull out
- 1:23:02the guns and start blasting Yeah.
- 1:23:03And they're like, do you have your?
- 1:23:04ID badges like we got them right here and they just blast them.
- 1:23:08Yeah. So I don't think did they kill
- 1:23:11that guy? I don't remember.
- 1:23:13No, he teleports. I think he, yeah, he can't.
- 1:23:16I didn't really write what happens to him because it
- 1:23:18ultimately it doesn't matter. He's on the.
- 1:23:21Well, ultimately it's ambiguous because we don't know if the
- 1:23:25aliens win or lose at the end of this.
- 1:23:27Yeah, but they. He's just.
- 1:23:30Yeah, he's. Saying like the aliens own it
- 1:23:32all already, this is just business.
- 1:23:34I want you guys to understand it's just business.
- 1:23:36Yeah, which? There's a.
- 1:23:38Part of me that kind of almost sympathizes that, like because
- 1:23:42you go from being in a place where you were literally
- 1:23:44sleeping in a park in a tin shack to being with the
- 1:23:50wealthiest of the elites. I think he was a.
- 1:23:52Plant, I don't think, I don't think that he was recruited
- 1:23:57after the fact. I think that he was a plant
- 1:23:59there. That's why he was saying oh fuck
- 1:24:01this shit. I think he was trying to like,
- 1:24:04sow doubt in that message, I think.
- 1:24:06Honestly I think he was just a person that didn't believe in
- 1:24:09that like conspiracy theory stuff and it was easier for him
- 1:24:13to be recruited that way. Well, they already.
- 1:24:16Were aware of the situation because they had choppers, yeah,
- 1:24:19so I think. He was.
- 1:24:20There get gathering Intel. I think he could be.
- 1:24:24Either way, it could be either way like I.
- 1:24:25Said it's ambiguous. We don't know for sure, so.
- 1:24:29They blast their way through the studio.
- 1:24:31And when I say blast their way through the studio, I mean
- 1:24:33they're like shooting guns and people and cameras and computers
- 1:24:37and TV's. It's a video.
- 1:24:39Game. Yes, it is.
- 1:24:40Very much, yeah. Like we are no longer doing my
- 1:24:44stealth mission. This is get through and survive.
- 1:24:47Get to the next save point. Yeah.
- 1:24:50Any. Anybody.
- 1:24:50Shooting at you cannot hear you. This is resident.
- 1:24:53Evil 4 when you are in the barn with the zombie horde coming at
- 1:24:57you, except the. Zombies are shooting at you.
- 1:25:00Except, well. The zombies don't need to shoot
- 1:25:02at you in Resident Evil 4. They're plenty of deadly on
- 1:25:05their own, I know, but in this case, they're.
- 1:25:07Shooting at Yeah, yeah. And they make their way.
- 1:25:11They they find Holly and you have Keith David.
- 1:25:14Instead of Ashley with you. Oh yeah, you gotta.
- 1:25:18Well, they pick up their Ashley here, they get Holly.
- 1:25:20Yeah, Holly is like. Get up to the roof, that's where
- 1:25:23the signals coming from. And then Nada climbs up and then
- 1:25:27Holly turns around and shoots Frank.
- 1:25:30Fuck you. Holly.
- 1:25:31That's the last. That's how he goes.
- 1:25:33It feels so anticlimactic that he dies like that.
- 1:25:36It sucks. He deserved better.
- 1:25:38He. Did so.
- 1:25:39Nada makes it up to the top and he makes it to the antenna.
- 1:25:42He's like all right, Frank, Holly, are you guys back there?
- 1:25:45Are you guys good? And Holly goes I.
- 1:25:47AM And he goes, what happened to Frank?
- 1:25:48And she's like, I shot him. And then everything happens so
- 1:25:52quickly from this point, but basically he was like, Oh no,
- 1:25:55you're with them. And then he tries to shoot at
- 1:25:57the signal and she shoots at him.
- 1:25:59And So what she. Instructs him to put his gun
- 1:26:04down and he takes his gun and throws it down and then she
- 1:26:07thinks that she has them dead to rights but she doesn't know that
- 1:26:10he has a tiny gun hidden up his sleeve so he which she should
- 1:26:13know he had. Two guns the first time she met
- 1:26:15him. Yeah, well, no, he has three.
- 1:26:17Yeah, so he takes that gun, gets it out real quick, shoots her,
- 1:26:21she's dead, turns around real quick, blast the satellite.
- 1:26:24So the satellite's going down, and there's the people in the
- 1:26:26chopper. Yeah, they surrounded him.
- 1:26:29And he's dead now and he's dead. But like the signals gone out.
- 1:26:33So then we see all around town, all of a sudden everybody's
- 1:26:36seeing the same thing that Roddy was singing with the glasses on.
- 1:26:40So they're seeing the aliens. They're seeing like the TV show.
- 1:26:43Like we hear people off camera going, oh, man, you guys look
- 1:26:46terrible to the newscasters that were on before, which I love to
- 1:26:50those newscasters, by the way, the like little clips of them on
- 1:26:53TV. And they're like, is this a 30
- 1:26:54second or two-minute break? Yeah.
- 1:26:56Like, it's really funny. Like everybody's.
- 1:26:57Just like evacuating, running, you get people out in the bars
- 1:27:00that are just watching TV and people are just like, what the
- 1:27:03fuck is happening? Yeah, there's somebody that's.
- 1:27:05Like having sex with an alien and she's and he goes what's the
- 1:27:08matter baby? What's wrong, baby?
- 1:27:11And he looks. So gross and like this one is
- 1:27:14one of the worst aliens because they also had to body paint him
- 1:27:17too and I was just like he was a stunt guy.
- 1:27:22He was a stunt. Coordinator.
- 1:27:23Well, good for him. But it was just that was a very
- 1:27:26alarming moment. He played most of them.
- 1:27:28Actually, good for him, or a lot of them at least.
- 1:27:31Yeah. But yeah, that's that's how
- 1:27:33this. Ends.
- 1:27:33We don't know if the aliens recuperate, we don't know if
- 1:27:36people take over. Like we don't know what happens
- 1:27:38from here. Yep, it just ends it.
- 1:27:40Just ends. I kind of like that though.
- 1:27:43I do kind. Of like it like I said, I want
- 1:27:45like. OK, I don't know if I want.
- 1:27:51It to be like more bleak or more ambiguous.
- 1:27:53I kind of want like maybe to see that aliens have like something
- 1:27:57to come back from with it. So you're like, what will happen
- 1:28:00now? You know what I mean?
- 1:28:02I like. I like the idea of like.
- 1:28:03What's going to happen next? And I like the idea that it
- 1:28:06ended in such an absurd tone. Yeah, it's just.
- 1:28:10Being like a guy and. A girl having sex and they're
- 1:28:12like, hey, what's wrong baby? And it's just like, cut the
- 1:28:14black. This is very much.
- 1:28:16Like your love of perfectly cut screens.
- 1:28:19Kind of yeah, cuz it's. Just like it's.
- 1:28:21So abrupt you cut it off at the. Peak of the chaos.
- 1:28:25Yeah. Yeah, it is kind of interesting
- 1:28:27to do like that. All right, so you change your
- 1:28:31rating any. I'm gonna bump it up to 9.
- 1:28:33OK, cuz that feels more appropriate.
- 1:28:36Winky Minor 9. 25 all right. So 9.125 is our final average,
- 1:28:44all right, so. Talia last.
- 1:28:46Night, she was oh, hold on, do we have any changes?
- 1:28:50I just, you know, I'd. Like to like I was saying about
- 1:28:53the ending, like maybe just like a minute longer just to see
- 1:28:59maybe if there's some other groups with plan BS, maybe even
- 1:29:02like the rebel group has like another survivor somewhere.
- 1:29:05OK, you. Know that way they're still.
- 1:29:08Like, oh, this is like going to keep going.
- 1:29:12OK, so. You want to know.
- 1:29:14You want to have some indication of what I want to know.
- 1:29:19Yeah. I want to know if people had
- 1:29:21backup plans with all of this. You know what I mean?
- 1:29:23Like I want to know like is it just?
- 1:29:26Going to be. Chaos are they going to like try
- 1:29:28and re ring control you know what I mean I gotcha yeah and
- 1:29:31I'm. Fine with it being done.
- 1:29:32In an ambiguous way. It just, it cuts off so abruptly
- 1:29:35and I'm just like, oh, I need a little bit more.
- 1:29:37I can get that. Yeah.
- 1:29:38OK. So OK.
- 1:29:39What the time you think of this So she.
- 1:29:41Was just She was having so much fun.
- 1:29:44She was squeaking around, she was showing off her belly, she
- 1:29:48was whining at you a lot. She wanted all kinds of
- 1:29:51attention with it. She did.
- 1:29:53Eventually she got a. Little bit sleepy, but it wasn't
- 1:29:55until very close to the end where she was like, well, he's
- 1:29:59paired. Up with.
- 1:30:00With Keith David now, Super, he's OK, Yeah.
- 1:30:03So I think Talia's going to give this.
- 1:30:05Honestly, I think she's going to give it a ton out of tanks.
- 1:30:07There were no alien dogs. There were no alien.
- 1:30:10Dogs. Wow, there's not a single dog in
- 1:30:13this movie. Because the dogs.
- 1:30:15Are all good. Yeah, the dogs are OK.
- 1:30:18I wonder if there were any alien dogs though.
- 1:30:20Like if like do you think other species were maybe do you think
- 1:30:23like there was like influence? I.
- 1:30:25Would have loved. It if at one point he looked at
- 1:30:27a dog on the street and they put on the glasses and it's one of
- 1:30:30the aliens, just like on all fours.
- 1:30:33That would have been amazing are.
- 1:30:36You kidding me? We were.
- 1:30:36Denied that. OK, who is?
- 1:30:40Zoe's ultimate warrior. Oh, it's got to be rowdy, rowdy.
- 1:30:46Right. Like it's got to be not.
- 1:30:48It's got to be that because Zoe. Was a homeless cat that fended
- 1:30:51for herself and she believed in the system.
- 1:30:53She did, until she found out that the system is not what it
- 1:30:58seems. But.
- 1:31:00If she may be frank, because every morning she's violently
- 1:31:04angry that we haven't fed her the second she wants it, that's
- 1:31:08true. That's true.
- 1:31:12Yeah. Frank.
- 1:31:13She's Frank. She's Frank.
- 1:31:15Yeah, she's. Frank.
- 1:31:18It's a close call though. I, I can see, I can see the
- 1:31:21merits in both of those from her.
- 1:31:24I think you make. A strong argument there with
- 1:31:25that final bit right there. Yeah, like.
- 1:31:27She's she's angry at the system, she fought it, she's putting in
- 1:31:31her dues and it's still not paying off the way she needs it
- 1:31:33to. She.
- 1:31:35Will. Bust one of our fancy cars If we
- 1:31:39shut down another food time. She's like, are you kidding?
- 1:31:43Me. Yeah, if we reduce her food.
- 1:31:44Portions. Yeah, we got 12.
- 1:31:46Minutes, in fact, before she starts getting really angry.
- 1:31:49So OK. All right.
- 1:31:52Do we? Oh, wait, no.
- 1:31:54Who did you relate to? I guess.
- 1:32:02I probably relate to as I probably relate to God.
- 1:32:10I feel like a combination between not and Frank, OK?
- 1:32:14Like kind of wanting to fight the system a little bit and also
- 1:32:18being optimistic that if I work hard enough, it'll work out.
- 1:32:21Yeah, I can. Understand that too.
- 1:32:25It's tough because there's not a lot of characters.
- 1:32:30I guess if I had to relate. To one of them I'd relate to
- 1:32:32nada. Yeah, I.
- 1:32:37I don't know, there's just a quality.
- 1:32:38About him, I feel like they kind of made him a blank slate in
- 1:32:40ways to make him a little bit more relatable.
- 1:32:44Yeah, they. Do.
- 1:32:46He's a bit of a Gary. Stew, not necessarily a.
- 1:32:50Gary Stew because he's got his flaws.
- 1:32:54I said we had 12. Minutes, Zoe.
- 1:32:58It's been 2. I.
- 1:33:03I I think the flannels and the the hair edges out that pushes
- 1:33:08you over the edge. I did that photo.
- 1:33:10Where I post like yeah, so I'll just, I'll make it nada, OK.
- 1:33:16Dream sequel. Oh man, God.
- 1:33:19What would we do for a sequel for this?
- 1:33:24Well, you can't have any of those.
- 1:33:25You can maybe make one of them survive.
- 1:33:27You can make know how to survive.
- 1:33:29Frank unfortunately got headshot unless she's a terrible shot,
- 1:33:33and it just kind of went through a brain part that didn't really
- 1:33:37have much importance, neuroplasticity.
- 1:33:40Baby, you can maybe. Survive.
- 1:33:42You can make both of them survive if you want.
- 1:33:44Both of them survive. OK, because that's what I want.
- 1:33:48This is a dream sequel. It's not a reality sequel.
- 1:33:54Maybe one of the? Aliens is like.
- 1:33:58They. Have technology that can save
- 1:34:02them and they're tired of the system too, and they want rebel.
- 1:34:06Inside of the. Aliens.
- 1:34:07Yeah, they're like. They're they were born in it,
- 1:34:10but they don't agree with it. And they found, they found a
- 1:34:14moment where they can strike and help turn the tides.
- 1:34:18So they take Frank and nada and they nurse him back to health.
- 1:34:23I like it. And they?
- 1:34:25Have their own rogue group they had.
- 1:34:27They've re gathered the rebellion and they've made it
- 1:34:31stronger. OK yeah.
- 1:34:34And then we can tie it. Into modern times because they
- 1:34:36talk about like the stay asleep thing.
- 1:34:38We can tie it into the whole like woke liberal thing.
- 1:34:41Oh yeah. And.
- 1:34:43We get to see an alien on on floors acting as a dog.
- 1:34:47You gotta include that too, yeah?
- 1:34:48That's gotta be in there. I won't have any other.
- 1:34:52No, absolutely not. All right.
- 1:34:55So time for reviews, tagline, Time for tagline.
- 1:35:01I've got one. You do OK.
- 1:35:04I'm here to spank. Tattlers and kiss Mamas and
- 1:35:07Mamas don't. Like no.
- 1:35:09Tattletales, I'm here to spank. Tattlers and kiss Mamas and Mama
- 1:35:13don't like tattletales. You said that I wrote it.
- 1:35:17Down I wanted to save it oh man, thank you for.
- 1:35:20Writing that. OK, we'll make that the tackling
- 1:35:22then. OK.
- 1:35:26Now it's time for reviews. Yeah, OK, all.
- 1:35:29Right, I have an IMDb review. OK, let's see that is for.
- 1:35:38I've got a lot of things. Here.
- 1:35:40OK, here we go. So it's one out of 10.
- 1:35:43On IMDb it was reviewed back in December of 2019.
- 1:35:48OK and the title is maybe all the fans should put on the
- 1:35:51glasses first. So interesting.
- 1:35:55Has anyone ever noticed that the worst a movie is the more ardent
- 1:35:59of cult following? They Live is not a good movie.
- 1:36:01Half a movie is the message, the other half is the movie itself.
- 1:36:05Just because it has a topical message doesn't make the movie
- 1:36:08well executed. Most Spike Lee joints have an
- 1:36:11urgent message. That does not mean most Spike
- 1:36:15Lee movies are good. They live as literally just
- 1:36:17Invasion of the Body Snatchers parentheses.
- 1:36:20Desertly aliens look like us and blend in with society to
- 1:36:24propagate conformity. Only instead of an allegory for
- 1:36:28commies, this time it's an allegory for Reaganites.
- 1:36:31This is the like the edgiest movie ever when you're 13.
- 1:36:37A cheesy Ali fight that manages to be boring with its bad WWE
- 1:36:41theatrics and seemingly goes on forever and refuses the in corny
- 1:36:45one liners and sound like they were said by a middle schooler
- 1:36:48that the more you think about it.
- 1:36:51And of course our newly I really really can't stand the phrase
- 1:36:54woke heroes rally to take down the man man.
- 1:36:59Also when they teleport to Alien HQ I'm really confused about the
- 1:37:03layout. It seems like they're in a
- 1:37:04station overlooking earth with aliens being teleported down
- 1:37:07there. But when they reach the roof and
- 1:37:09of course have this typical cliche rooftop standoff and a
- 1:37:12helicopter hovers up, they're clearly on Earth to all fanboys
- 1:37:17before smugly telling others to put on the sweet Roddy Piper's
- 1:37:21shades. Take off this nostalgic glasses
- 1:37:23first. Talia does not like this review.
- 1:37:25No, she disagrees. How dare a movie be a movie and
- 1:37:31also have a message? Look, I get it.
- 1:37:35I get they're like, you know, you don't like some of the ham
- 1:37:40facedness of some of the Purge movies.
- 1:37:42You still generally enjoy the Purge movies, but you know that
- 1:37:45is a criticism you have. I hate messages and.
- 1:37:48I suppose you could see. That with this, because it's not
- 1:37:50like it's not subtle it it just introduced you to it in a way
- 1:37:56that you were much more OK with it.
- 1:37:58I wouldn't 1000. Percent understand where they're
- 1:38:00coming from with that yes because whenever something beats
- 1:38:03you over the head like that it drives me crazy too but I
- 1:38:07already said I like the way that they handled it because they
- 1:38:09took that and then they made it absurd but also like.
- 1:38:13The thing about like. There are only.
- 1:38:18So when it comes down to the basics, basics of storytelling,
- 1:38:22there are only so many stories in the world, and everything's a
- 1:38:25variation on that theme. So calling this a rip off of
- 1:38:28Invasion of the Body Snatchers feels like you don't really
- 1:38:31understand storytelling at its core, you know what I mean?
- 1:38:34Like, yeah, I mean, I get it. Like you can call it the
- 1:38:36influence, but I don't know. I wouldn't, but I I can't really
- 1:38:40speak. I've not seen that movie so I
- 1:38:42don't know how close this is also different.
- 1:38:44Too, Because they're not like snatching the bodies.
- 1:38:47They're actually like recruiting full people.
- 1:38:49They're not taking them over. They're luring them in.
- 1:38:52And it's different. Yeah, it's.
- 1:38:54It's different if that's the premise, so I.
- 1:38:58I don't know. I get it.
- 1:38:59I like, I get it. I get it.
- 1:39:02And I appreciate that they weren't just mad because it
- 1:39:05feels like a woke movie. Like I like that they were like,
- 1:39:08you know, that's not even the purpose of that.
- 1:39:10Like I can get how somebody doesn't like it.
- 1:39:12I don't agree, you know, I, I think.
- 1:39:17It's fantastic and I thought that they did a great job
- 1:39:19getting the message without it being so obnoxious.
- 1:39:23But, you know, plenty of people probably hear the message in the
- 1:39:28Purge and be like, fuck yeah, I mean.
- 1:39:31And that's where we have a difference in it too.
- 1:39:33Cuz I I think it's over in a way that it needs to be for
- 1:39:39audiences, I don't think. When you ground a.
- 1:39:43Movie like the. Purge.
- 1:39:44And I know it gets bizarre and absurd, but when you do that,
- 1:39:48and it's very clear when you watch the movie that that's
- 1:39:51what's happening, you don't have to repeat the message over and
- 1:39:54over again. But with this right here, when
- 1:39:57you involve aliens and shit in the mix, you might need to
- 1:40:00outwardly say it a few times to get that cross.
- 1:40:05So point to be, I understand where they're coming from with
- 1:40:09us. Yeah, I do.
- 1:40:12OK, listener. Reviews OK.
- 1:40:15All right. We'll start off over on.
- 1:40:16Instagram First up, Cube saves. Weird how deeply ingrained this
- 1:40:22movie became in pop culture. It rules, yeah.
- 1:40:26It's one of those that like, I didn't realize that I recognized
- 1:40:29so many of the references until I watched it.
- 1:40:31And I was like, oh shit, that's the thing.
- 1:40:33It's crazy during. COVID.
- 1:40:35I remember I was working from home one day and there was
- 1:40:38somebody above our apartment and I walked outside and they were
- 1:40:41doing the like, the message writing with a plane, like with
- 1:40:46the smoke and like up in the sky.
- 1:40:48It just spread. Obey.
- 1:40:49Yeah, I remember that. Yeah.
- 1:40:51That was really cool. I was.
- 1:40:52Like, oh man, that's awesome. Alright, Next up we have Justin
- 1:40:573000 Stewart. He says Roddy Piper and Keith
- 1:41:01David have the best fight scene in cinema, or ever in cinema as
- 1:41:06fucking lately. Yeah, I.
- 1:41:08Fucking love it man. I like it's hard to top that.
- 1:41:12It's just it's and. Like I said, it's one of those
- 1:41:14things that I look forward to when we watch this movie, and
- 1:41:16I'm not like a huge action person, so the fact that like, I
- 1:41:20get excited for a fight scene says a lot.
- 1:41:22And Travis can attest to that. Because it's like wrestling.
- 1:41:24You got in there. I like wrestling.
- 1:41:26Yeah, you like whenever it's choreographed, Yes, they.
- 1:41:29Understand the importance of. It being choreographed and not
- 1:41:31just punch, punch, punch. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:41:33It's like a. It's a show, yes.
- 1:41:35Yeah, it's. Meant to be entertaining.
- 1:41:37All right. And Michael Lee Howard says Big
- 1:41:40Lever was a fun movie. Cheesy, adventurous, funny and
- 1:41:43about alien invasions. Not every movie can boast a
- 1:41:46wrestler as a star and John Carpenter as a director.
- 1:41:48Seven nights in. I like that last one.
- 1:41:51Not every, like not every movie can do that, man.
- 1:41:54It's it's fucking crazy. He that's like, that's the hat
- 1:41:58trick. Man, it's a magical pairing.
- 1:42:00For sure, yeah, He he said. Roddy John Carpenter says that
- 1:42:07he believes Roddy Piper was the beginning of the transition of
- 1:42:13wrestlers becoming actors. I can't see that he.
- 1:42:16He like started. The whole movement with that, I
- 1:42:19can kind of see it too. I don't know.
- 1:42:20I'm sure they were like Andre the Giant was a big one, but,
- 1:42:25you know, maybe he popularized it.
- 1:42:27I don't know. All right, moving over to
- 1:42:30Twitter. First up, we have.
- 1:42:33Ward Zombie who says true classic?
- 1:42:35Have not seen it in a while but I do remember the 80s.
- 1:42:38She's the acting, the special effects and the longest fight
- 1:42:41scene ever. A great one.
- 1:42:43Everyone should see my friend go.
- 1:42:45Rewatch it. Yeah, absolutely, if you can.
- 1:42:47Yeah. I love how I like.
- 1:42:49The fight scene is the main take away here.
- 1:42:51Yeah, Aquila. Oh L Aquila boobs.
- 1:42:55OK now. Says.
- 1:42:57Put it on the glasses. Another Carpenter banger.
- 1:43:02Man, this and Big trouble in Little China where in my
- 1:43:05childhood VHS rotations. Love this movie.
- 1:43:08Man, the South Park episode that paid homage to the fight was
- 1:43:11fucking hilarious. To rest in peace Roddy I that
- 1:43:15is. Have you.
- 1:43:16Do you know what he's talking about?
- 1:43:17No, I was nodding about. The rest in peace, Roddy.
- 1:43:20It's an episode. Where Jimmy and Timmy get into a
- 1:43:24fight. Oh, OK, I.
- 1:43:26Knew what you're talking about. Yeah, OK.
- 1:43:28He's like triple fight. And they just like, they
- 1:43:30actually have, like, the fight play out almost as long as it
- 1:43:33does in this movie. Yeah, that's really good.
- 1:43:35I love that, too, Doc Farks says.
- 1:43:39Why hasn't Keith David and David Keith ever teamed up for a buddy
- 1:43:42Whatever movie? And I was yesterday years old
- 1:43:45when I were in that. The madcap director of
- 1:43:48Eraserhead is named David Keith Lynch.
- 1:43:50Imagine a Lynch directed David Keith David blockbuster.
- 1:43:55We need grounds. Well, doc, are you?
- 1:43:58OK, I love because they always go in places.
- 1:44:03I never I don't expect it. I.
- 1:44:04Love it. Also that that opening reminded
- 1:44:08me of one time I opened up my old man's computer and I was
- 1:44:12like looking at his music files and two folders right next to
- 1:44:16each other was a Buck Cherry and Chuck Berry.
- 1:44:19And I was like, that's amazing. That's.
- 1:44:22Funny. OK, David.
- 1:44:25David, Keith. Directed by David Keith, he
- 1:44:28broke my fucking head with. That man, I already thinking
- 1:44:31about that for a. While oh, oh, is it am I hearing
- 1:44:38am I hearing that we. Got live.
- 1:44:40News coming? In reported Travis coming.
- 1:44:45In with a live feed of our Twitter review that we received
- 1:44:50very last second from Chad. He just sent this in mid
- 1:44:53recording of the episode. All right, so Chad says they
- 1:44:57Live is one of those rare perfect films.
- 1:44:59Carpenter at the helm, Cundi on camera, a protagonist you can
- 1:45:03root for gratuitous Keith David, though there is no such thing as
- 1:45:07too much Keith David I. Was literally about to say it
- 1:45:09doesn't exist. Kinetic pacing.
- 1:45:12A bitchin score and it's A1 percenter horror.
- 1:45:15It's like the cinema gods were like yo Chad, here's a movie
- 1:45:19specifically made for you and Meg Foster's eyes piercing.
- 1:45:24Perfect film. Dude, you fucking nailed it.
- 1:45:26I. Agree with everything you said
- 1:45:28Chad, and I believe that was my entire list of kids.
- 1:45:31It pretty much. Was yeah, other than it being
- 1:45:34like. Failure made for Chad, but you
- 1:45:36know, it's, it's fine. It is because it's a very Chad.
- 1:45:40Movie. Absolutely.
- 1:45:41Oh, man. All right, cool.
- 1:45:42Well, then that's it for our reviews.
- 1:45:44OK for our reviews. Thank, guys.
- 1:45:46Thank guys. Thanks, guys.
- 1:45:49We appreciate all the input on that.
- 1:45:51We're excited. Everybody's excited about this
- 1:45:53movie because it's so much fun and we're excited about it.
- 1:45:55Yeah. But you know what else we're
- 1:45:56excited about? What?
- 1:45:58We're going back to Child's Play next.
- 1:46:01We're going to military. School, yes.
- 1:46:04So Child's Play Three, should you want to rewatch it, it's on
- 1:46:09Netflix. Should you want to watch it for
- 1:46:10the first time, they just have them on the Netflix.
- 1:46:12Yes, you can watch it on Netflix.
- 1:46:14You can also rent it from YouTube, Google Play Prime, or
- 1:46:17Fandango at home. Travis, I hate to tell you, but
- 1:46:21we're about to start getting ads on our Netflix.
- 1:46:25Why? Because.
- 1:46:26I am on the cheapo plan. They're eliminating that.
- 1:46:30And they said. You're getting ads or you're
- 1:46:32paying twice as much as you're currently paying.
- 1:46:34And I said not with the way this fucking app glitches on our
- 1:46:37Roku, it was bad. We might have to unsubscribe.
- 1:46:40From them again. Here's the thing.
- 1:46:42Though is that we need, we need their Christmas movie selection
- 1:46:46only during that time of year. Yeah, I.
- 1:46:49Understand. It's also got Trailer Park Boys.
- 1:46:52Yeah, yeah. And it's got The Good Place and
- 1:46:55Seinfeld. Yeah.
- 1:46:56So there's a lot of. Reasons we need to keep it.
- 1:46:58It's just we're going to have to deal with ads, which we do on
- 1:46:59all the other apps anyway because I just we don't want to
- 1:47:02pay premium prices for all those.
- 1:47:04So yeah, fuck it. It is what it is.
- 1:47:06But we're back to like the cable days again, going back to I
- 1:47:10can't wait to see the documentary series detailing the
- 1:47:14streaming wars. Yeah, and how they've, the
- 1:47:16services have basically cannibalized the whole industry.
- 1:47:20OK, OK. So anyway, we're going back to
- 1:47:22talking about murderous dolls. Yeah, so.
- 1:47:25Be watching that if you can. I'm sure there's plenty of
- 1:47:30options out there. We're very excited about it.
- 1:47:32Very. Fun.
- 1:47:35Yeah, yeah. So.
- 1:47:36Now we would like to thank our patrons.
- 1:47:40We have Joe Freakatron as. Is his name.
- 1:47:43Amber, Michael Ward, Zombie, Tyler and Chad, Yes, thank you
- 1:47:49guys very much. You keep our website running,
- 1:47:51you keep us buying fun games, you keep us buying equipment.
- 1:47:56Makes a big difference for us. We also want to thank the people
- 1:48:01that support us in other ways. If you can't do so through
- 1:48:03Patreon or choose not to do so, that's fine.
- 1:48:05We totally get it. If you rate US, review us,
- 1:48:09subscribe to us, that makes a big difference.
- 1:48:11So leave comments on Spotify. Yeah, Yeah, we get little
- 1:48:15notifications for that. Yeah.
- 1:48:16Now. So that's fun.
- 1:48:17Thank you for doing that. We're glad that everybody else
- 1:48:20gets as much fun and joy from the AI generated chapters as we
- 1:48:24do. That's so stupid.
- 1:48:26Mikey is 28, Taylor Swift's and we never.
- 1:48:29Discussed. Taylor Swift, I don't.
- 1:48:31We will listen to that. Yes, we listen to the.
- 1:48:33Entire clip because like we're trying to figure out where they
- 1:48:36got Taylor Swift's and it was Swift's like possessive like and
- 1:48:41we're like where did they get this from?
- 1:48:43Because it's not that I don't talk about pop music
- 1:48:45occasionally. It was a big to big aside on our
- 1:48:48two beer not to be, but the chapter LED us to the.
- 1:48:51Beginning of our tagline discussion, which there was no
- 1:48:53mention of Taylor Swift and there was nothing that.
- 1:48:55Sounded like it could have been misinterpreted as Taylor Swift.
- 1:48:58Sometimes it sometimes. It gets it so right with Mike
- 1:49:01ES28 and then sometimes it gets it so wrong with Taylor Swift's.
- 1:49:04That's just the duality of Spotify chapters.
- 1:49:07Yeah, that's what makes it magical.
- 1:49:08Yes, our scout freaking. Lives swimming pool.
- 1:49:11Swimming pools, Yeah. We're gonna.
- 1:49:13Censor me down or. Howard takes the bull penis.
- 1:49:19Not my favorite one, yes. That was that's when we
- 1:49:21discovered the chapter Generations.
- 1:49:24That's witchcraft for. Anybody curious if you haven't
- 1:49:27listened to our witchcraft? Episode or Ben beholden to the
- 1:49:31joy that is witchcraft. Please do yourself a favor,
- 1:49:34yeah? So yeah, thanks guys for doing
- 1:49:37that and I appreciate those of you that share the episode
- 1:49:40whenever we do posties out there.
- 1:49:42That really helps a lot when you guys do that, spreading the good
- 1:49:45word. Also thanks to the people.
- 1:49:47That share our trailers or share our call for reviews so that way
- 1:49:51people have the chance to talk about movies that they like
- 1:49:54because that's what we want here.
- 1:49:55We want a community of people who love horror for all of it's
- 1:49:59good, bad, ugly and absurd. And we, you know, like people
- 1:50:03knowing that we're going to be talking about movies that they
- 1:50:05feel strongly about that and we, I like.
- 1:50:07Getting people's reviews on movies because I like I like
- 1:50:11checking the IMDb reviews, but I like getting a filler for like
- 1:50:14the current vibes for things too, because a lot of times I'm
- 1:50:17pulling these from like decades ago, which is also interesting
- 1:50:21in its own way. But I I like current like I want
- 1:50:23to know what you guys think too. Yeah.
- 1:50:25So thank you guys. When you guys do that, we really
- 1:50:27appreciate it and if you want to be able to see.
- 1:50:29Things like our call for reviews and our trailers.
