- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello, gorgeous. It's Lala Kent. Welcome to Untraditionally, Laala, Hello, gorgeous,
- 0:06Speaker 1: Welcome back to the bonus episode of Untraditionally Lala. I
- 0:10Speaker 1: have my new bestie, Christi b Allen. Most of you
- 0:15Speaker 1: will know her from. Well, you're an actress, You've got
- 0:18Speaker 1: many talents. We talked about all of it on the
- 0:20Speaker 1: regular episode that was on Wednesday. So for the bonus
- 0:24Speaker 1: because you made your excellent debut on thirteen, going on
- 0:30Speaker 1: thirty and then Revenge, which is one of my most
- 0:33Speaker 1: favorite series. But thirty, flirty and Thriving. I remember when
- 0:37Speaker 1: I turned thirty and I was like, I'm flirty and
- 0:40Speaker 1: I'm fucking thriving, and then shortly after my life went
- 0:44Speaker 1: to shit. But it's okay as it finds too, Yes,
- 0:47Speaker 1: it tends to. So that's one of the most iconic
- 0:50Speaker 1: movie lines ever. And I have a list of things
- 0:56Speaker 1: that I'm going to ask you, and you're going to
- 0:58Speaker 1: tell me which ones you're working on, which ones you're
- 1:01Speaker 1: thriving at. And I want to start because if you
- 1:05Speaker 1: do this, then I need to set my game up
- 1:07Speaker 1: meal prepping on Sundays.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Oh absolutely not, absolu not are you opposed to it. No,
- 1:17Speaker 2: I just personally, I've never been a drawn to meal prepping,
- 1:21Speaker 2: Like who wants to eat the same thing every day?
- 1:23Speaker 1: I don't get the meal prepping. I'm also very weird.
- 1:25Speaker 1: I used to be addicted to leftovers, and now if
- 1:28Speaker 1: it's not like fresh, then I don't really want Do
- 1:32Speaker 1: you cook girl? Now the worse? Can I cook?
- 1:39Speaker 2: Yes?
- 1:39Speaker 1: If I have to cook for my family, I can definitely,
- 1:41Speaker 1: like do work in the kitchen. I don't enjoy it.
- 1:44Speaker 1: And now with Postmates, why would I do something that
- 1:46Speaker 1: I don't have to do?
- 1:47Speaker 2: Sponsored by Postmates?
- 1:49Speaker 1: Sponsored by the Postmates I wish, hey, yeah, get the
- 1:51Speaker 1: plug please sponsor this episode. Do you like eating out?
- 1:56Speaker 1: Are you an order in type of chick?
- 1:59Speaker 2: I listen. If left to my own devices, I would
- 2:02Speaker 2: never leave my house, okay, but when friends pull me
- 2:05Speaker 2: out of the house, I'm quite happy to be out. Okay.
- 2:09Speaker 2: But I love to cook. I just I don't cook
- 2:11Speaker 2: a whole lot for just myself.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Like it is so hard to cook for one person,
- 2:16Speaker 1: and then you add kids into the mix and everyone
- 2:18Speaker 1: wants something different and it's just like post.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Mates, that's gotta be hard. Yeah, dating apps definitely not
- 2:26Speaker 2: really Is it because you're famous? Oh, it's just I
- 2:31Speaker 2: don't know. There's one theory that dating apps mess with
- 2:34Speaker 2: the algorithm of the universe, like you're supposed to meet
- 2:37Speaker 2: who you're supposed to meet, not force it together.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Oh okay, so you're more about like the organic connection
- 2:46Speaker 1: in person old school.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I like a magical meet cute, cute, love it.
- 2:52Speaker 2: But I also yeah, it's just like overwhelming the apps.
- 2:56Speaker 2: I've been on them before, okay, but the apps feel
- 2:58Speaker 2: like another inbox that needs tending to. It feels like
- 3:04Speaker 2: another task totally. They just start piling up, you know,
- 3:08Speaker 2: and you feel bad if you don't respond to them.
- 3:10Speaker 2: So it's an unclosed loop in your brain. I don't know,
- 3:13Speaker 2: it feels like a task.
- 3:15Speaker 1: You're right, So then do you tend to be the
- 3:19Speaker 1: aggressor or do you fall back? If you're like out
- 3:22Speaker 1: at dinner and you see a cute guy across the
- 3:24Speaker 1: bar and you're into it, do you give him a look?
- 3:28Speaker 1: Do you approach? Do you wait to see if the
- 3:31Speaker 1: universe is like wanting this to happen and have him
- 3:35Speaker 1: come to you?
- 3:35Speaker 2: What's the game plan? I have historically never been the aggressor.
- 3:41Speaker 2: I don't make any effort whatsoever. I let them come
- 3:45Speaker 2: to me, and then they make a massive effort. As
- 3:50Speaker 2: we've talked about, wow, and that I thought was working
- 3:54Speaker 2: for me, but clearly does not. Okay, So I'm trying
- 3:56Speaker 2: to flip that and be a little more of the aggressor. Okay,
- 4:00Speaker 2: So I flirted with the guy at a party the
- 4:01Speaker 2: other day.
- 4:02Speaker 1: And how did it go?
- 4:02Speaker 2: Well, we exchange numbers and then I let him take
- 4:05Speaker 2: me to coffee, and that's about as far as we've
- 4:06Speaker 2: got enough.
- 4:09Speaker 1: I'm always the aggressor. Really, don't come to me. If
- 4:14Speaker 1: I'm interested, I'll let you know. Otherwise leave me. B
- 4:16Speaker 1: How doesn't work out? Not well? A lot of sex
- 4:21Speaker 1: is happening, but not much more than that.
- 4:24Speaker 2: But celibate. I was celibate.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Here's the thing. I was celibate for quite a bit
- 4:29Speaker 1: of time. And then I always tell people cut me
- 4:33Speaker 1: some slack because I was also attempting to get pregnant
- 4:38Speaker 1: and was pregnant for nine of those months and then postpartum.
- 4:42Speaker 1: So people were like, you were celibate for over over
- 4:46Speaker 1: a year and a half. I'm like, well, cut me
- 4:48Speaker 1: some fucking slack. I was carrying a baby and then
- 4:52Speaker 1: who wants to have sex right after.
- 4:54Speaker 2: They have a baby.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Nobody? Yeah, so now and what happens with me is
- 4:59Speaker 1: like once you rip the band date off, I'm like
- 5:00Speaker 1: all in. I'm like, okay, this is fun. Who's next.
- 5:04Speaker 1: I'm definitely safe, But I like to be the aggressor
- 5:07Speaker 1: because I don't if I'm not into it. I don't
- 5:10Speaker 1: want to have to pretend to be nice. Yeah, I
- 5:12Speaker 1: will let you know if I'm interested.
- 5:14Speaker 2: I like the strategy. Yeah, I might start using it. Yeah,
- 5:18Speaker 2: you know.
- 5:18Speaker 1: It's working for now, but the universe is going to
- 5:21Speaker 1: do its thing. I have no control over my life. Yes,
- 5:24Speaker 1: she'll take care of God. We give it up to God.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Nine pm bedtime. I don't need to work on that
- 5:32Speaker 1: at all. Yes, my favorite.
- 5:34Speaker 2: In fact, if you want to flirt with me, tell
- 5:36Speaker 2: me you want to be home and in bed by
- 5:37Speaker 2: nine pm.
- 5:38Speaker 1: I'm like, oh so hot, marriage material. If you want
- 5:42Speaker 1: to get in bed with me, you know, let's just
- 5:45Speaker 1: go really wild. Let's say seven pm, get in the bed,
- 5:48Speaker 1: watch our favorite show, and eat Gouda cheese and crackers
- 5:51Speaker 1: without spilling a crumb in my fucking bed. Okay, there
- 5:55Speaker 1: are rules. There are rules to the fun you are
- 6:00Speaker 1: my soulmate.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, that's hot.
- 6:03Speaker 1: That's so hot. Hangovers in your thirties.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Oh no, absolutely not. I had one glass of wine
- 6:10Speaker 2: the other night and I was like, no, why why
- 6:13Speaker 2: why is your next day?
- 6:15Speaker 1: For what?
- 6:15Speaker 2: It's not even that fun.
- 6:17Speaker 1: I know every time I look at someone and here's
- 6:20Speaker 1: where I always get the drooly mouth and not like
- 6:23Speaker 1: I'm going to like give in to it, right, but
- 6:27Speaker 1: I my mouth will water. If I'm on a rooftop
- 6:29Speaker 1: like during the day and someone's like, I'll take a
- 6:31Speaker 1: glass of rose, I'm like, I totally get that. But
- 6:34Speaker 1: then I tap into I know where this goes. It's
- 6:37Speaker 1: like one will lead into two. Tomorrow is shot, Sunday.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Scari yes, tomorrow the next day the next like it's
- 6:46Speaker 2: just not worth it.
- 6:46Speaker 1: No, the hangovers as you get older are like days
- 6:49Speaker 1: of recovery.
- 6:50Speaker 2: And I like what you said there, because what you're
- 6:53Speaker 2: actually tapping into is how refreshing it might taste. Yeah,
- 6:58Speaker 2: you know, it's a cold glass is something on a
- 7:00Speaker 2: hot day.
- 7:01Speaker 1: So yeah, we're like, we're like, you start feeling like
- 7:03Speaker 1: uninhibited and your cheese get a little warm.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Yeah, so perhaps you know, we could all be more
- 7:09Speaker 2: mindful about what we're seeking. Mm when we reach for
- 7:13Speaker 2: a glass of alcohol, are you seeking connection? Are you
- 7:16Speaker 2: seeking presence? Are you seeking intimacy? And maybe find a
- 7:21Speaker 2: way to find that elsewhere?
- 7:22Speaker 1: Well, let me tell you something. I've now done this
- 7:24Speaker 1: thing where I'm like, Okay, the equivalent of a glass
- 7:28Speaker 1: of rose for me is a diet cocone ice. The
- 7:32Speaker 1: equivalent for me if I'm like out at a nightclub,
- 7:36Speaker 1: if I've ever been in one of those in the
- 7:38Speaker 1: past few years, but nighttime where people are getting buck wild,
- 7:41Speaker 1: I'm like, Okay, I guess I'll have a red bowl
- 7:43Speaker 1: and get really buck wild with a shot of pineapple juice.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that's when. That's like the equivalent to like
- 7:50Speaker 1: a vodka soda for me.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Okay.
- 7:51Speaker 1: So I find my equivalents, and once I tap in
- 7:54Speaker 1: mentally to like, this is what we're doing, this is
- 7:56Speaker 1: what it is for you, I start feeling the same
- 8:00Speaker 1: everyone else is feeling. Except tomorrow I'm gonna be up
- 8:02Speaker 1: at seven am ready for breakfast in my coffee.
- 8:05Speaker 2: It's all a mental game anyway, Yeah.
- 8:07Speaker 1: It truly is.
- 8:08Speaker 3: It's all just a placebo effect if you ask me, right,
- 8:22Speaker 3: therapy thriving, thriving.
- 8:26Speaker 2: I love my therapist. I recommend her to everyone. She
- 8:31Speaker 2: is a goddess.
- 8:33Speaker 1: And do you feel like she speaks Christa She does. Yeah.
- 8:39Speaker 2: And it was working with my therapists that made me
- 8:43Speaker 2: recognize one of the most powerful forms of love is
- 8:49Speaker 2: understanding and that I mean that is her business. Like
- 8:54Speaker 2: she sees you, right, she understands your pain and really
- 8:58Speaker 2: it's not you know, it's not training, it's not performance.
- 9:02Speaker 2: She really understands where you're coming from. And she deals
- 9:04Speaker 2: with a lot of people in you know, very really
- 9:07Speaker 2: varied circumstances like different industries and whatnot.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Yeah, love therapy.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Okay, so you're killing it. So if people are going
- 9:17Speaker 1: to murder me for this, I because of my past experiences.
- 9:22Speaker 1: I've had very bad experiences with therapists. That is a
- 9:27Speaker 1: trauma that I'm having to heal from and learn that
- 9:32Speaker 1: not every therapist is like that, and I will get
- 9:37Speaker 1: over it where I can trust somebody again.
- 9:42Speaker 2: I will send you mine. Yeah, please do wonderful.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I would love that. So I need to work
- 9:48Speaker 1: on it that. In my thirty flirty and thriving, I'm
- 9:52Speaker 1: flirting with the idea of therapy not quite thriving right?
- 9:56Speaker 1: Tracking your steps? I'm an I don't need to know.
- 10:00Speaker 1: I would track my sits. I always win at sits
- 10:05Speaker 1: ten thousand sits a day.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Bitch. Wait, that's amazing.
- 10:11Speaker 1: I always meet that number.
- 10:14Speaker 2: I know so little about this. Does it actually track
- 10:17Speaker 2: when you sit down?
- 10:17Speaker 1: Here's the thing is most people track it on their phone,
- 10:19Speaker 1: and I'm like, do you know what I My phone
- 10:22Speaker 1: is hardly ever on me unless it's necessary, So like,
- 10:26Speaker 1: it's not going to track my steps because I don't
- 10:28Speaker 1: even know where it is half the time.
- 10:30Speaker 2: I love that You're the only person I know that
- 10:33Speaker 2: is not glued to their phone.
- 10:35Speaker 1: No, I really don't love the phone. It just feels
- 10:38Speaker 1: very unnecessary.
- 10:39Speaker 2: That's why you're so present.
- 10:41Speaker 1: I try to be. You know, life is short. You
- 10:43Speaker 1: blink and it's over, So we need to be present,
- 10:45Speaker 1: saying no without guilt. I'm working on it. Are you
- 10:49Speaker 1: good at it? The boundary?
- 10:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm thriving in that department. Wow? Yeah?
- 10:55Speaker 1: How old are you again?
- 10:56Speaker 2: Thirty three?
- 10:57Speaker 1: Thirty three? I just turned thirty five. Well you're a
- 11:00Speaker 1: what's your sun sign?
- 11:00Speaker 2: Scorpio?
- 11:01Speaker 1: That's right, you're rising Pisces. Because I remember we had
- 11:06Speaker 1: I think your sun is my rising because I'm a
- 11:11Speaker 1: Scorpio rising, but my sun is Virgo. So the constant
- 11:17Speaker 1: conflict I feel between who I came into the world
- 11:20Speaker 1: as and who I project to the world is like
- 11:23Speaker 1: very intense. Yeah, what's your moon? My moon is Aquarius.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Oh I love that very watery. Yes, a lot of
- 11:32Speaker 1: tuias air. Aquarius is air. Then I think I'm not that.
- 11:38Speaker 2: I think I was like aliens because they're so.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Then I think, but then I think I might be Pisces.
- 11:44Speaker 1: I need to look into that because I know that
- 11:46Speaker 1: I'm a water sign for emotion.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Well, if you're you're rising as Pisces, that's that's water.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Oh my rising is Scorpio.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Oh, you're rising a scorpio. Also, I know that.
- 11:55Speaker 1: My I know that my moon, which is emotion right, yes, water,
- 12:02Speaker 1: so it's not Aquarius. I think maybe that's what I'm
- 12:04Speaker 1: thinking about, is our We have a Pisces that's the same,
- 12:07Speaker 1: and then the Scorpio.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, those into things, they'll get you.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Oh, I know, I cry about everything. It doesn't even
- 12:16Speaker 1: mean anything to move emotion. The last one I want
- 12:20Speaker 1: to know about because you have gorgeous skin, face masks,
- 12:24Speaker 1: and serums.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Oh, thriving, thriving too.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Yeah, did you try the Haley Beaber one on Amazon?
- 12:30Speaker 1: The metacube, Oh, I love meticube so good. But then
- 12:35Speaker 1: I saw you have to leave it on for one
- 12:37Speaker 1: to three hours and I was like, oh, okay, I'm
- 12:39Speaker 1: one of those last night. Actually you can tell, just
- 12:42Speaker 1: going to pop in today.
- 12:43Speaker 2: It's so sweet. But no, there's there's a metacue one
- 12:46Speaker 2: specifically that has what is it called. They're called like ampules.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Or said, the tap, like the things that go into
- 12:54Speaker 1: the skin. Yes, yeah, the best.
- 12:56Speaker 2: The pink one. Yes, it's extraordinary it.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Yes, I only recommend.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Yes, I love that mass. We are thriving in this department.
- 13:05Speaker 1: We are thriving, and it's really the only one that
- 13:07Speaker 1: matters you.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Guys.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Thank you so much for listening to another episode of
- 13:11Speaker 1: the Bonus for Untraditionally La La. Thank you for joining
- 13:14Speaker 1: me again. I will now release you into the wild.
- 13:16Speaker 1: I'm going to catch you guys on Wednesday and again
- 13:18Speaker 1: next week.
