  afternoon here glorifying our Lord Jesus, talking about him
• 4:54
  today. Doug, another song that you
• 4:56
  wrote theologically sound talking about our relationship
• 5:00
  with Christ and how we're to build that every single day.
• 5:03
  And I know we hammer that home often, Doug.
• 5:05
  We talk about it all the time because it's so vital and it's
• 5:07
  so important, you know, as we've used in reference before talking
• 5:11
  about even building a relationship with somebody who
• 5:13
  you just meet, in order to get to know them, you have to spend
• 5:16
  time with them and spending time with God.
• 5:19
  You know, a lot of people think it's a an arduous task, as it
• 5:21
  were. But when you get to know the
• 5:23
  heart of God and when you develop that relationship, it
• 5:26
  becomes a great passion and joy for us to to serve our Lord.
• 5:30
  And that's what we do here every day, all the day, all week.

  And no, no time off be hot or cold, right, Doug?

  Right. And that's the problem, Kev.
• 5:39
  It's it's people don't realize then that's the main goal.
• 5:44
  See, I speak for myself. I grew up in a I grew up in a
• 5:46
  Catholic school from kindergarten on.
• 5:49
  It's like I always believed in God, never realized about
• 5:53
  building a relationship with him.
• 5:55
  So I would have missed the mark because if I died Matthew 7, 21
• 6:00
  through 23, I prophesied in the name I can't sell demons.
• 6:03
  I did children's church. I went to church every Sunday.
• 6:06
  I I did feed my sheep on the weekends to feed the homeless.
• 6:10
  I tithed. I gave money and the main thing
• 6:14
  Jesus says What does he say? I never knew you away from me,
• 6:18
  you evildoer. Now Jesus knows everyone, right?
• 6:22
  He, Jesus, is our creator, so he knows his creation, what he says
• 6:27
  when, what he means, when he says, I never knew you.

  He never had a deep intimate relationship with us.

  Go back to the basics. I wish I knew this from the
• 6:38
  beginning, before I met my wife, preferably when I was young.
• 6:41
  Preferably it would have been ingrained in me.
• 6:43
  Why? Like I said, my dad has 13 dogs.
• 6:48
  Why so many dogs? Is he a dog lover?
• 6:50
  No, he's a hunter. He lives in Kni.
• 6:53
  So he got trackers, he got grabbers.
• 6:55
  Now, if people come to say he, my dad passes away, somebody,

  the whole family does, somebody buys the property, everything
• 7:03
  included, dogs included. Now they take that dog and they
• 7:06
  go to the dog park, let's say, or they're walking around with
• 7:11
  other dogs in the neighborhood. These dogs are fighters.

  They're bred to fight. They fight boars, wild pigs, you
• 7:18
  know, male pigs. I mean, they're, they're wild,
• 7:20
  they're tough. So one of the main things with
• 7:23
  his trackers is when they get caught, he wants to see if they
• 7:25
  still go out and catch the pigs. German shepherds, they're good
• 7:30
  police dogs. They're not good hunting dogs
• 7:32
  because when they get cut, they're smart dogs.
• 7:33
  They don't mess around with the boys, They don't mess around
• 7:36
  with the pigs. So my point is, if you take
• 7:39
  those 13 dogs and you use them for what they're not, what
• 7:43
  they're not bred for, they will malfunction.

  So in our lives, when we don't do what we're supposed to do,
• 7:53
  what Our Calling is what we're created for, the purpose of life
• 7:57
  as the smartest person in the world.

  What is the purpose of life? The 10 smartest?

  You get 10 different answers. The purpose of life is to build
• 8:07
  an intimate daily relationship with you.
• 8:09
  How do I know Adam and Eve? That's why God created Adam in
• 8:13
  his own image. Angels He didn't create in his
• 8:16
  own image. He has legions of angels saying
• 8:18
  glory, glory, glory, or holy, holy.
• 8:21
  Holy is the Lord. He can boss them around all day
• 8:23
  if he wants. They praise and worship him way
• 8:26
  better than us. Yeah.
• 8:27
  Why does he want to spend time with us?
• 8:29
  Because he created us in his own image.
• 8:32
  So it's the daily intimate relationship with him.
• 8:36
  If I do that, if I do that, if I do that, I function correctly.

  Exactly, Doug. And we always talk about, you
• 8:45
  know, automobile manufacturers, airplane builders, people who
• 8:50
  build technology, you know, they have a code that's written into
• 8:53
  those things that they build, the things that they create.

  And, you know, when we have error codes like our check
• 9:00
  engine light, you know, check engine light is basically for us
• 9:03
  in our hearts. You know, that as we talked
• 9:05
  about our hearts being, you know, healed and, and, and
• 9:08
  following Jesus, when we have those check engine lights in our
• 9:11
  heart or you, we also refer to them as the clogged arteries or,
• 9:15
  you know, the cancer cult center in our life.
• 9:17
  When when those things should, you know, rise their head in our
• 9:20
  life? How do we deal with those
• 9:22
  things? How do we how do we process
• 9:23
  them? I mean, we have our own way of
• 9:25
  doing a lot of people cope. A lot of people, you know, have
• 9:28
  their guys. We say they're coping cocktails.
• 9:29
  But you know, with having a relationship with God, We have
• 9:33
  that answer about how to find that way to kind of come back as
• 9:37
  it were, to the designers code of what he's created us for and
• 9:41
  how to live within that and get those check engine lights fixed
• 9:45
  and turned off so we can live effectively and have a great
• 9:48
  relationship with God. Correct, and I remember I was
• 9:51
  telling you back in the day in the 80s, that's how old I am.
• 9:55
  It's we had we had mud bogs, right, right.
• 9:58
  And then I had a Jeep ACJ 5 that I, I lifted up.

  I put 3838 inch tires on in monster mudders.
• 10:06
  I put AI actually put a 350 Chevy in that, you know,
• 10:10
  overhauled the engine, plopped it in there so I could have
• 10:13
  power, but one of the cylinders, one of the one of the Pistons in
• 10:19
  the cylinders are blown. So I was only running on 8
• 10:22
  cylinders. It was never was never right.
• 10:25
  And no matter what mechanic I took it to, they couldn't find
• 10:27
  the problem. So it always malfunctioned at
• 10:30
  higher speeds. When I really laid down on the
• 10:32
  gas, it malfunctioned, never finding out what the problem
• 10:36
  was. See that engine represents our
• 10:38
  hearts. If our hearts are clogged, we
• 10:41
  have unforgiveness. We got hurt growing up,
• 10:44
  offended, picked on. Our heart starts to harden, it
• 10:48
  starts to change us. The cruelty of the world, the
• 10:52
  things that we faced in the world change who we were created
• 10:57
  to be. So no matter how what kind of
• 11:00
  gas I put in my engine, how safely I drive it, the engine is
• 11:04
  the problem. What is our problem?
• 11:07
  Our hearts, our code, our innermost thoughts and feelings.
• 11:11
  If I was picked on when I was young, guess what?
• 11:15
  I'm accidentally looking for a scene now not and I'm not the
• 11:18
  small guy. I I'm not the young guy anymore.
• 11:22
  Pick on me now. In my head I have my own
• 11:26
  challenges. So what the problem is, is
• 11:30
  people try to follow God without building their intimate
• 11:34
  relationship with God. God is the master mechanic.
• 11:38
  He's the one that overhauls the engine.
• 11:41
  He fixes the parts. He gives me a new piston.
• 11:45
  He unclogs the arteries. I receive fresh fuel, fresh
• 11:49
  love, unconditional love in me. Now when I go out to function, I
• 11:56
  want to. I'm looking for things to do for
• 11:59
  him. Why?
• 11:59
  Cuz I appreciate when everybody left me and abandoned me.

  He was there and he's the one I owe my life to.
• 12:07
  When you actually know what Jesus did for you, you owe him
• 12:11
  your life, literally. And it's not a command.
• 12:14
  It's my pleasure and our love that we have from God.
• 12:18
  Now it has to come from God. I don't have enough love to give
• 12:21
  and my love is conditional. My wife don't love me back.
• 12:25
  It's over come on now I'm going to be upset.
• 12:27
  I need return on my investment Come on now when we get our love
• 12:31
  from the source that never runs dry.
• 12:33
  God we can always give. Come on, not expecting anything
• 12:37
  in return. Absolutely.

  You know, I find an interesting also, Doug, when you in
• 12:40
  correlation to that story you're talking about your Jeep is that
• 12:44
  you only found out later after the fact what was really wrong
• 12:48
  inside the engine when you tore it apart down to the very, very
• 12:54
  core of that engine and you found out what was wrong inside
• 12:57
  that engine, wasn't it? It was a crack cylinder, broken,
• 13:00
  broken piston. But you wouldn't have known that
• 13:03
  because on the outside, Doug, that engine looked like I
• 13:06
  remember you're, you're very particular.
• 13:07
  You Polish your stuff, you keep it clean.
• 13:09
  It looked amazing, but yet the internal core of that motor was
• 13:13
  malfunctioning. Because one of the things is
• 13:15
  that just like our hearts, when our hearts are broken, you know,
• 13:19
  and there's something deep inside of us that we can't see
• 13:22
  on the outside. It's only till we go deep into
• 13:25
  our hearts and actually have that way to find out what's
• 13:28
  really going on. And God's the one that's going
• 13:30
  to reveal that stuff to us through the Holy Spirit and how
• 13:33
  because we read God's word, we get to know him, what he loves,
• 13:36
  what he hates. And just that's the way we find
• 13:39
  out where, why we're malfunctioning, why we're
• 13:41
  coping, why we're not living a life that, you know, we truly
• 13:45
  are called to live. And that's it Kevin, the only
• 13:48
  way we can fix our engine or our hearts, only person that can is
• 13:53
  God. And the great thing is not just
• 13:55
  reading His word, no, it's the Holy Spirit.
• 13:58
  God the Holy Spirit is there while we read His job or his
• 14:04
  main purpose is to help us to understand what we read, to
• 14:08
  comprehend that, to feel the pain that God felt when Israel
• 14:13
  turned their backs on him when he got them out of Egypt and
• 14:15
  they grumbled, Do I grumble? I used to say, wow, how
• 14:19
  ungrateful is them? I'm worse than them.
• 14:22
  When I look at my life and my heart, I'm worse than them.
• 14:26
  So it's the Holy Spirit helping us.
• 14:29
  He's the master teacher, helping us understand, helping us apply
• 14:33
  God's Word to our lives, and when we get bumped, helping us
• 14:37
  recognize what's coming up. When we put our engine on the
• 14:41
  diagnostic machine that mechanics use, it tells you what
• 14:45
  the problem is. God's Word is our diagnostic
• 14:49
  machine. It tells us what our issues are
• 14:52
  so the Holy Spirit can help us correct.
• 14:55
  It yeah, exactly, Doug. And that takes time too, Doug,
• 14:58
  because building a relationship and that trust and that
• 15:01
  understanding of how the Holy Spirit works in US, you know,
• 15:04
  just reflecting on our journey together, whereby, you know,
• 15:08
  it's interesting because I, I, I wanted to get it.
• 15:10
  We talked this morning about, about learning how to interpret
• 15:14
  God's word through the Holy Spirit.
• 15:16
  And he used a very, very great analogy and core example about
• 15:20
  that is about, you know, going to school, you know, showing up,
• 15:23
  you're not going to get A's right out of the gate.
• 15:25
  You're not going to get, you're not going to figure that out
• 15:27
  right away. But the thing about that is is
• 15:29
  that with we continue to make that sacrifice and show up and
• 15:34
  and and ask and sit in that those places of trying to get
• 15:37
  that. It's when we continue to apply
• 15:39
  ourselves to that is when now the Holy Spirit shows up and
• 15:43
  starts to, you know, kind of give us that idea how to how to
• 15:47
  interpret God's word. Correct.
• 15:49
  And and that's what I was was so confusing when people say stop
• 15:52
  by works, stop by works, stop by works.
• 15:54
  When Paul is talking about works, he's talking about works
• 15:57
  of the Old Testament law. See, the Jews were doing more
• 16:00
  than they had to do. They wanted to do more.
• 16:03
  They wanted to add rules and regulations on to salvation.
• 16:07
  You can't do it. It's by it's by grace through
• 16:10
  faith, meaning it's by the sacrifice.
• 16:14
  Just like you said, Kev, God doesn't look for you to get what
• 16:17
  grade you're going to get. He wants you to give up your
• 16:20
  time and come and kneel at the foot of the cross.
• 16:24
  As a father, I love you. I'm ready to learn.
• 16:27
  Teach me. It's spending that time with
• 16:30
  him. Just like your children when
• 16:32
  they're older, you'd love them to come over and visit you miss
• 16:35
  them. God loves us way more than we
• 16:37
  love our children. Now the relationship that He
• 16:40
  wants with us is closer than a husband and a wife.
• 16:43
  So why? Why when I ask people that,
• 16:46
  yeah, you have, you have marital relations, let's put it that
• 16:49
  way, since we're on the radio with your spouse.
• 16:52
  But even if you do that physically, they're not with you
• 16:56
  at times. They go to work or they they go
• 16:58
  traveling. The Holy Spirit is in you when
• 17:00
  you believe His Spirit dwells in you.
• 17:04
  Nothing closer than that. And you're not alone.
• 17:09
  Yeah, that's one of the things that in white, my personal
• 17:12
  testimony is that when I started to develop that relationship
• 17:15
  with the Holy Spirit and understanding that I remember
• 17:18
  coming over to fellowship one morning and I just had this
• 17:21
  overwhelming sense in my life that, you know, I've been a Lone
• 17:24
  Ranger a lot with a lot of my life, you know, just bearing my
• 17:28
  stay in bevities as it were, you know, 2 divorces, you know, not
• 17:32
  having any close relationship with my kids, all that stuff.
• 17:35
  So I became a hermit. I became a a Lone Ranger, as it
• 17:38
  were. And then when I started
• 17:39
  fellowshipping and started learning and started sitting
• 17:42
  with you guys, learning that about God's truth about God's
• 17:46
  character, God's love, most of all, remember coming over to the
• 17:49
  house 1 morning and just was like I expressed to you, I said
• 17:52
  I in my heart and soul and by who I am.
• 17:55
  I don't feel alone anymore. I really, really feel that I and
• 17:58
  it's not again, we don't go by feelings all the time, but
• 18:00
  there's that sense of, of, of knowing that God is close to us
• 18:05
  because when we pursue that every day, you know, he shows up
• 18:08
  for us, you know, and it's not some obscure Mystic thing where
• 18:11
  God's just going to. But when we make that willing
• 18:14
  choice to our life to lay it, lay it down, submit to him,
• 18:18
  follow him, there's that overwhelming sense that I have.
• 18:21
  I don't feel alone anymore, Doug.
• 18:22
  Yeah, and there's a pattern that he sets for us to see.
• 18:25
  No, he, he communicates with us. Like I told you, Kev, watch how
• 18:30
  God communicates with you 'cause he has his own unique way of
• 18:33
  communicating. So with me, He'll impress
• 18:38
  something on my heart where it's in, in that voiceless, I'll call
• 18:41
  it a voice in her head. It's not a voice, it's not
• 18:43
  audible, It's an impression. Like it's not Doug, Doug, Doug,
• 18:47
  Doug, this is God, God. So it's an impression.
• 18:51
  So I can't tell if it's the Holy Spirit, if it's my own
• 18:55
  conscience, or if it's Satan saying something to me and
• 18:58
  pressing something on on my heart.
• 19:01
  So I test it. I don't move.
• 19:03
  I look at the through the lens of scripture.
• 19:05
  Does it flow according to his character?
• 19:07
  I love forgiveness, but I wait for confirmation.
• 19:10
  And usually he confirms it. The bigger things in life, not
• 19:13
  the smaller things, we have to make the decision right there.
• 19:16
  The bigger things, he confirms it.
• 19:19
  And that's in time and time and time again.
• 19:21
  There's a pattern that he sticks to because he knows that I'm not
• 19:25
  the brightest bulb on the shelf. So he communicates where we can
• 19:30
  understand it. So what we can't understand the
• 19:33
  mysticism that that faith is like COVID.
• 19:37
  When you're standing in a certain area, you just get
• 19:38
  COVID. You don't know how you got it.
• 19:40
  You can't trip into into faith trusting in God.
• 19:45
  See, trust is you'll live on your life for someone if he
• 19:50
  tells you to get up and move just like a child trusting their
• 19:53
  parent. They won't say why, why
• 19:55
  depending what age, right, why they won't ask you 500
• 19:58
  questions. They'll just do it.
• 20:00
  You give them medicine to take. They won't say is this poison,
• 20:05
  They'll just take it because they know you love them.
• 20:08
  So as we spend time with God, His Holy Spirit, which
• 20:11
  transcends all understanding in that area, we don't know
• 20:13
  mathematically how He. Like Kevin said, makes us know
• 20:18
  his presence, but we know his presence and we can have some
• 20:23
  factual evidence alters we call it that prove his presence.
• 20:28
  And after you got five of them see they can still explain it
• 20:31
  away like it just happened. But when you get 2550, you start
• 20:37
  to see that Lord is in your life.
• 20:39
  Come on, Doug, you ain't exactly, you know, we started
• 20:41
  working together, he said. You know, God will show up.
• 20:44
  You know, we, you know, talking about your neighborhood, you
• 20:47
  know, we live in a cul-de-sac. We'll show you up at the
• 20:49
  beginning of the cul-de-sac and then down the road and then down
• 20:52
  by the park and then so. But the reason why that happens
• 20:55
  is because our altars are there to show that he's there for us.
• 20:58
  But the distance between them is to build our faith that he's
• 21:01
  going to show up again. Correct, Doug.

  Correct. So basically what Kevin is
• 21:05
  saying in the beginning, you'll see his presence close, let's
• 21:09
  say every 50 yards, you'll see his presence meaning alters,
• 21:14
  meaning a blessing. When you pray specifically, it
• 21:17
  happens. You get a raise, you get a
• 21:19
  bonus, something that you prayed for exactly happens, and you see
• 21:24
  His presence. And then it gets a little
• 21:26
  farther. Get 75 yards, That's the next
• 21:28
  altar, then 100, then 200 yards. What's the difference?
• 21:32
  Because now he wants you to walk in faith, not fact.
• 21:35
  If he has an altar every 50 yards, I know I'm walking.
• 21:39
  In fact, I know He's there. It's when you don't see the
• 21:42
  altars, you don't see His presence.
• 21:45
  Then we'll see how deep our roots are.
• 21:48
  How how strong our faith is? How long will you still follow
• 21:53
  me, God says, and not give up on me like people give up on you.

  Yeah, what a great analogy, Doug.

  So and the and the and and it's so funny because no one
• 22:08
  recognizing God's patterns in my life.

  When you say pray specifically, it's always funny because when
• 22:13
  we're talking, it's like I'll pray for something and it's
• 22:16
  literally within a day or so I'll hear you repeat that same
• 22:20
  thing I prayed for. And that is the confirmation
• 22:23
  that, you know, we're building our relationship with God daily
• 22:26
  so we can actually understand that he's there with us.
• 22:30
  And that's what we do here at Christ Built Ministries, as
• 22:32
  we're, we're providing, we want to provide tools for for men and
• 22:36
  women out there in our community to build that relationship with
• 22:39
  God so they know they're not alone, that we're there's
• 22:41
  somebody here and God's there for them.

  And then and that, and we want to bring you to a place where
• 22:47
  you understand that daily to come to God, lay your life, put
• 22:50
  yourself before the cross and know that he's going to be there
• 22:53
  for you. And we got some great things

  in his house, building an intimate relationship with him

  face to face every day. You make the choice now you

  can't make it when you die and say, OK, I'm going to hell.

  I want to, I want to be with you guys.

  That's the problem with millionaires and billionaires.

  That's the problem they have. They don't, they don't know if

  it's loyal people are loyal or not.

  But our love that we can give our wives, our our, our, our

  family, our kids has to come from having that really deep

  like I said about the Jeep, when it's not running right, he's the

  always, I was my biggest fan in my own head thinking I can do

  nothing good without the Lord helping me first.

  I have to go to him every single day so He can adjust my heart.

  I have so many things that pull me away and are bad habits and I

  can't, I can't change that. I can't pull the hook out.

  I can't get rid of my thoughts, but they cannot control me

  anymore. I can be led by love, by

  forgiveness, as long as I stay Christ built.

  the islands whereby here you're, you're, you're taught to fight

  to solve your problems. You know, I'm a Canadian.

  I mean, I'm not saying this is a general statement, but my coping

  mechanism was rather than fight, I'd run, I'd hide because that

  pain became too much for me to deal with.

  And what then I would do is I'd build layer upon layer upon

  layer of calluses, those wounds to the point where I didn't know
• 35:45
  how to deal with anything anymore.

  And I had to run away from them. Because if I was confronted what
• 35:51
  those things, the shame, the guilt, the remorse, the
• 35:54
  inadequacy, all those things would come up.

  And those are the layers of my heart that are being healed with
• 36:00
  building my relationship being Christ built going way down deep
• 36:05
  inside as you refer to as the Kiave root, way down deep, way,
• 36:10
  way, way to clean those recesses of my heart out so I can be
• 36:14
  loving and forgiving, which is one of the biggest evidence of

  building that love relationship with God every day.

  And everybody has their own way of dealing with hurt.

  Yours was was was removing yourself from the situation and

  locals, certain certain families, I'm the oldest.

  So I had more pressure on me than anybody else.

  I had to kind of protect the brothers and sisters below me.

  And I was right under my dad. So my dad was my older brother,

  so to speak. And he was the one guiding me

  and, and threatening me so that if there is no hiding from him,

  if he fallen out, I ran and I hide, he would, he would give me

  the worst licking that could I could ever get from any person

  and he any boy, so to speak. So there was no choice.

  It's, it's, it's do or die. You got to go out there and

  fight, no matter how scared you are, no matter how small I was

  or smaller than most growing up. So I had that like I said, that

  that failure I, I can't protect my family, the wrong

  I look for revenge. And Satan, he capitalized on

  hand remember I said I was in prison bank from my, my house

  went into foreclosure. Wife was having me and my wife

  was having issues again, you know, and she's a first born as

  well. So she's hard headed just like

  me. So 2 hard headed people

  together. So she didn't pay the mortgage,

  We didn't pay the mortgage. It was in foreclosure.

  Long story short, took money out of the bank, not stealing from

  taking from the insurance company.

  They didn't make it any better once the feds got wind of that

  federal prison. So, but that was my training

  try to see I even if things weren't working out.

  And you did find that right way. And it was those moments where

  you were isolated and locked alone and nobody else to turn to

  because we talked about this, Doug and, and I hear the stories

  about Paul being locked up in prison.

  And it's almost the same parallel, you know, with, with

  your story about your life, Doug, whereby it's where you in

  those moments when you're locked up is when you found a, the real

  pathway to how to build this relationship with God and, and,

  and you correlate the, your experience in jail.

  You've said this many times whereby if, if, if, if as hell

  is anything remotely close to what jail is, I mean, it's going

  to be a million times worse than that experience of you being
• 43:20
  locked up. And so that's why we have this

  opportunity while we're here. Now listen, that's it's that you

  know, your opportunity to to heal and and have a better life
• 43:34
  is not just so you can have better life here, but for your

  eternal eternal soul and your eternal relationship whereby

  you're going to spend eternity, billions and trillions of years,

  And, and just like you see, God communicates to us through the

  way we can understand the means which we can understand.

  So who would you let live, guys? Who would you let live in your

  house? You let a stranger live in your
