- 0:21Speaker 1: You are listening to Eagles postgame analysis here at the
- 0:23Speaker 1: Philadelphia Sports Stable podcast show, the longest running weekly Philly
- 0:27Speaker 1: sports podcast show in the world, over eleven and a
- 0:29Speaker 1: half years strong, and week seventeen here of this Philadelphia
- 0:34Speaker 1: Eagles twenty twenty four twenty twenty five season now in
- 0:39Speaker 1: the Bugs. Boy they be actually they steamrolled the Dallas
- 0:43Speaker 1: Cowboys down at the Link by a score of forty
- 0:45Speaker 1: one to seventeen. This Philadelphia Eagles team have officially clinched
- 0:51Speaker 1: the NFC East and there have been no repeat winners
- 0:55Speaker 1: in the division the last twenty seasons. It's the longest
- 0:58Speaker 1: streak of any division in NFL history. Eagles are heading
- 1:02Speaker 1: to the playoffs, as we know, but still have the
- 1:05Speaker 1: opportunity to potentially get that number one seed. It's gonna
- 1:09Speaker 1: be interesting to follow these this next week, for sure.
- 1:12Speaker 1: I'm Jeff Warren and I am here with our good
- 1:14Speaker 1: friend from Philadelphia soccernow dot com and he helps us
- 1:18Speaker 1: out with some Eagles analysis here at the PST podcast
- 1:21Speaker 1: show as well. Mister Josh Schuster, buddy Man, thanks so
- 1:24Speaker 1: much for joining us, and it's nice to see that
- 1:27Speaker 1: this Philadelphi Eagles team has finally clinched the division and
- 1:30Speaker 1: they're thirteen and three on this season. It's great to
- 1:33Speaker 1: talk to you, my friend, and go Birds as we're
- 1:36Speaker 1: looking toward the last game of the season and then
- 1:38Speaker 1: the postseason.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Yeah, go Birds, for sure. It was Today was really
- 1:43Speaker 2: nice game in the sense of I can't remember the
- 1:46Speaker 2: last time we're basically, from beginning to end, it was
- 1:49Speaker 2: pretty relaxed. I had my brother in law and sister
- 1:52Speaker 2: over for the game. We watched it, and we were
- 1:55Speaker 2: just able to have fun dialogue in between because I
- 2:00Speaker 2: don't even really know that the score. As much as
- 2:02Speaker 2: I think they won by like thirty five, I don't
- 2:04Speaker 2: even think it was that close, to be perfectly honest. Yeah,
- 2:07Speaker 2: so really, and I had said this before we had started.
- 2:09Speaker 2: My only complaint from the game is I would have
- 2:11Speaker 2: liked to see Saquon get some more yards, just because
- 2:15Speaker 2: if they're going to go for the record next week,
- 2:17Speaker 2: one hundred and one yards is a lot to try
- 2:19Speaker 2: to get. I know they're playing against the Giants, but
- 2:23Speaker 2: I'm hoping they'll still try to go for it because
- 2:25Speaker 2: it would be it'd be really nice to be able
- 2:26Speaker 2: to witness history next week. But yeah, overall, there's really
- 2:30Speaker 2: no complaints.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean history was definitely made in this game.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Of course, you mentioned Saquon Barkley. He came into this
- 2:37Speaker 1: game needing two hundred and sixty eight yards to surpass
- 2:40Speaker 1: Eric Dickerson's all time season rushing record. He had one
- 2:44Speaker 1: hundred and sixty seven yards rushing in this game, which
- 2:47Speaker 1: put him over two thousand yards rushing. In fact, two
- 2:51Speaker 1: thousand and three yards was or is the official yardage
- 2:56Speaker 1: that he's rushed this season. Now he only needs one
- 2:58Speaker 1: hundred and one, one hundred and one. Yeah, like you're
- 3:02Speaker 1: mentioning next week against the Giants to break Dickerson's all
- 3:04Speaker 1: time rushing records. And speaking of really quick and you
- 3:08Speaker 1: kind of mentioned this before we hit the record button.
- 3:10Speaker 1: You were texting some of your friends who were Giants fans.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I would like to thank the New York Giants for
- 3:16Speaker 1: their incompetence and their complete ineptitude during this past off season,
- 3:22Speaker 1: during this holiday season. Here, Josh, what a holiday gift
- 3:27Speaker 1: Saquon Barkley has been for this entire Eagle season. I'd
- 3:30Speaker 1: like to thank the New York Giants for that.
- 3:32Speaker 2: My friend, yeah, me as well, you know. I Before
- 3:35Speaker 2: moving back down to South Jersey. I lived up just
- 3:39Speaker 2: outside of New York City, and I can't tell you
- 3:42Speaker 2: the number of people that were relentless with me, oh
- 3:45Speaker 2: in terms of knowing where I was from, and relentless
- 3:49Speaker 2: this offseason when they said Saquan's wash, so on and
- 3:51Speaker 2: so forth. So now they want sympathy, you know. I
- 3:55Speaker 2: text them a picture of him reaching two thousand yards
- 3:58Speaker 2: and they said, you know, enough is enough. I said no, No.
- 4:01Speaker 2: All offseason I heard that this man was overrated. So yes,
- 4:04Speaker 2: you know, I know that you didn't necessarily want him
- 4:07Speaker 2: to go, but you were burning his jersey and you
- 4:11Speaker 2: also said he was washed. So it's time to pay
- 4:14Speaker 2: the piper, yea. And I will gladly be the piper
- 4:17Speaker 2: and just remind you of all the wonderful things that
- 4:20Speaker 2: you said about Saquon Barkley. Yes, thank you to the
- 4:23Speaker 2: incompetence that is the New York Giants front off.
- 4:27Speaker 1: I love it. I love their incompetence. And you know what,
- 4:30Speaker 1: it was great that this Eagles team completely dominated the
- 4:34Speaker 1: Dallas Cowboys this season. How dominant have the Eagles been
- 4:38Speaker 1: against the Cowboys this year? They forced eight turnovers, four
- 4:42Speaker 1: in each of the two games and outscored them seventy
- 4:47Speaker 1: five to thirteen during each of those two games. I
- 4:51Speaker 1: love being able to face a Dallas Cowboys team where
- 4:54Speaker 1: you can absolutely obliterate them, steamroll them. That's what the
- 4:58Speaker 1: Philadelphia Eagles did in the not just this game, but
- 5:02Speaker 1: the game earlier in the season down in Texas. So
- 5:06Speaker 1: let's get into some of our themes of the game here,
- 5:08Speaker 1: because I really feel Josh as though like it didn't
- 5:13Speaker 1: feel like at times like it was as strong of
- 5:15Speaker 1: an opening half for Kenny Pickett, even though he went
- 5:19Speaker 1: nine to fourteen for one hundred and thirty three yards
- 5:21Speaker 1: one touchdown. He added a rushing touchdown right before the half,
- 5:26Speaker 1: and came out of the third quarter we saw Tanner McKee.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Then I really didn't think Kenny Pickett had quote a great,
- 5:35Speaker 1: great day. But you look at those stats and you say,
- 5:37Speaker 1: you know what, that's not too bad, I guess for
- 5:39Speaker 1: a backup quarterback. And it just it just some of
- 5:43Speaker 1: those I mean, the first drive of the game, the
- 5:45Speaker 1: second drive of the game, absolutely horrendous by the offense.
- 5:48Speaker 1: They only had nine total yards in their first two drives.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Their very first play of the game was a false
- 5:53Speaker 1: start penalty and you're thinking, oh, my gosh, the trains
- 5:56Speaker 1: are gonna cut or the Yeah, the train's gonna come
- 5:58Speaker 1: right off the track. Not happened, But Kenny Pickett did
- 6:02Speaker 1: what he needed to do. And then subsequently when he
- 6:04Speaker 1: went out with an injury, apparently with regard to his
- 6:07Speaker 1: ribs because he's been nursing rib injury, Tanner m Key
- 6:11Speaker 1: comes in. His first completion in the NFL was to
- 6:14Speaker 1: DeVante Smith for nine yards. Then his second completed ball
- 6:18Speaker 1: was a twenty yard touchdown past aj Brown. God, he
- 6:22Speaker 1: just throws one hell of a back shoulder ball for sure.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Then he hit his second touchdown of his career to
- 6:27Speaker 1: DeVante Smith in the fourth court or wait, no, did
- 6:30Speaker 1: he to yes to DeVante Smith in the fourth quarter? There? Yes,
- 6:34Speaker 1: So anyway, a great day for the Eagles backup quarterbacks
- 6:37Speaker 1: quite frankly, and you know they were able to get
- 6:40Speaker 1: it done against the lesser Dallas Cowboys team.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:44Speaker 1: You know.
- 6:44Speaker 2: For me, Jeff, this is one of the major themes
- 6:47Speaker 2: now having seen an entire week of preparation without Hurts.
- 6:51Speaker 2: As I say this, Hurts is the better quarterback. I'm
- 6:54Speaker 2: not even going to go down. There's a QB controversy.
- 6:58Speaker 2: We're we're not doing no no, But what I will
- 7:01Speaker 2: say is this goes to show my point of what
- 7:06Speaker 2: I've said all along. I judge a quarterback based off
- 7:09Speaker 2: their contract, meaning that Hurts has a middle third of
- 7:14Speaker 2: the NFL contract for quarterbacks. Fifty million dollars is a
- 7:18Speaker 2: lot of money to you and me, but by NFL standards,
- 7:22Speaker 2: by quarterbacks, it's not. It's middle of the road. All
- 7:26Speaker 2: they need is average to above average pay play, and
- 7:30Speaker 2: with the amount of players that they have paid on
- 7:33Speaker 2: defense and at the skill positions, it goes to show
- 7:37Speaker 2: that when Hurts was out, there wasn't much of a
- 7:39Speaker 2: drop ball. Hurts doesn't need to play hero ball. He
- 7:43Speaker 2: just needs to play ball where he is average to
- 7:47Speaker 2: above average and he's going to be fine. And that's
- 7:50Speaker 2: pretty much what you've gotten all season. You mentioned about
- 7:53Speaker 2: Kenny Pickett. Kenny Pickett's game today to me was very
- 7:57Speaker 2: similar in terms of Hurts. A really rough start right
- 8:01Speaker 2: where we're scratching our heads, we're frustrated, we're wondering how
- 8:05Speaker 2: things are going to turn around.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Tops. Yeah, tough first quarter is always yep.
- 8:09Speaker 2: The one thing I will say is there's two things
- 8:11Speaker 2: that really stood out about the quarterback play today. The
- 8:14Speaker 2: first is Hurts can make things happen when things break down,
- 8:18Speaker 2: and neither of the other two are able to do this.
- 8:21Speaker 2: And that's fine, that's what makes Hurts special. But the
- 8:24Speaker 2: other thing is it also highlighted a major deficit that
- 8:28Speaker 2: Hurts has. Both Picket and Tanner McKee get the ball
- 8:33Speaker 2: out fast and they use the middle of the field.
- 8:36Speaker 2: And that to me was I'm a pocket QB kind
- 8:39Speaker 2: of guy. That's just who I am. That's my preferred passer,
- 8:43Speaker 2: that's what I want. So it was very refreshing for
- 8:46Speaker 2: me today to see a quarterback get the ball out
- 8:49Speaker 2: in less than three seconds to wide open players over
- 8:52Speaker 2: the middle of the field that if Hurts were in there,
- 8:55Speaker 2: we would have been circling that second DeVante Smith touchdown,
- 8:59Speaker 2: he literally runs over the middle of the field and
- 9:01Speaker 2: all the way up the middle of the field because
- 9:03Speaker 2: he's wide open. Yeah, that happens every play when Hurts
- 9:07Speaker 2: is in there. But Hurts doesn't pull the trigger. It's
- 9:11Speaker 2: nice to have a quarterback that pulls the trigger. I
- 9:13Speaker 2: still want Hurts in my quarterback. I still think Hurts
- 9:15Speaker 2: is the better quarterback, but it did give me an
- 9:18Speaker 2: appreciation today for just how special Jalen Hurts can make
- 9:22Speaker 2: things while also making them a little frustrating, but how
- 9:26Speaker 2: special he can make things.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Absolutely, no, I absolutely agree with you, and I think
- 9:30Speaker 1: the other part of it, too is how the offense
- 9:32Speaker 1: and I talked. We talked about it last week on
- 9:34Speaker 1: the postgame show, our buddy Matt Rodgers and myself talked
- 9:38Speaker 1: about specifically how the offense had to adapt without Hurts
- 9:42Speaker 1: being under center, and we saw that. I think again today,
- 9:45Speaker 1: because when Hurts is not there, what it does to
- 9:47Speaker 1: the RPO game, what it does to the opposing defense.
- 9:52Speaker 1: They know Kenny Pickett is not going to necessarily be
- 9:54Speaker 1: a rushing threat. Tanner McKee not necessarily going to be
- 9:57Speaker 1: a rushing threat in terms of the RPO matchup in
- 10:01Speaker 1: the zone reads. So because of that, yes, there has
- 10:04Speaker 1: to be some alteration to the game plan, and I
- 10:07Speaker 1: was obviously because of what the result of this game was.
- 10:11Speaker 1: I'm absolutely fine with that. You had two quarterbacks throwing
- 10:14Speaker 1: a combined three touchdowns and ended with a combined quarterback
- 10:19Speaker 1: rating of one forty one point nine. Not too bad
- 10:22Speaker 1: ten point four yards per attempt. With regard to both
- 10:26Speaker 1: quarterbacks combined. But yes, you're You're absolutely right. You know,
- 10:30Speaker 1: I want Jalen Hurts to be the starter because there
- 10:33Speaker 1: are other intangibles that the other two quarterbacks don't have.
- 10:36Speaker 1: But and we'll get to it when we could get
- 10:38Speaker 1: to the grating Kellen Moore, Nick Sirianni having to alter
- 10:42Speaker 1: the offensive game plan based on the quarterback play of
- 10:45Speaker 1: Kenny Pickett and then in game alterations with regard to
- 10:49Speaker 1: Tanner McKee too. I thought it was it was just
- 10:52Speaker 1: incredible to watch what this team was able to do
- 10:56Speaker 1: given the challenges they had last week, especially from a
- 10:59Speaker 1: defensive point. Let's move over to the defense and the
- 11:03Speaker 1: one guy in this game that was on fire, and
- 11:05Speaker 1: he's been on fire the past few weeks quite frankly,
- 11:08Speaker 1: but CJ. Gardner Johnson, he oh boy, that pick six
- 11:12Speaker 1: that he had to start the game. He ended up
- 11:15Speaker 1: very promising opening drive by the Cowboys with that great
- 11:18Speaker 1: interception in pick six, he read Cooper Rush's eyes beautifully,
- 11:22Speaker 1: great interception, And it was at that moment I felt
- 11:25Speaker 1: as though the Eagles defense was back. They were back
- 11:27Speaker 1: after a tough last week outing against the Commanders. It
- 11:31Speaker 1: was their first pick six this year their first pick
- 11:34Speaker 1: six of this season. And while CJ. Gardner Johnson certainly
- 11:39Speaker 1: has not been perfect by any stretch of the imagination,
- 11:43Speaker 1: in his last twenty eight games with the Eagles, he
- 11:45Speaker 1: has had eleven interceptions. Today's pick six gave him at
- 11:50Speaker 1: the time, his second five interception season, both of those
- 11:53Speaker 1: seasons with the Eagles. Then he had another interception, his
- 11:56Speaker 1: second one right before the half that put him at
- 11:59Speaker 1: six interception this season. Again, defense having four takeaways in
- 12:04Speaker 1: this game. The defense is back and that and that's
- 12:06Speaker 1: huge in terms of where the team is going to
- 12:09Speaker 1: potentially go during the playoffs because, as we know, we
- 12:13Speaker 1: see it time and time again year after year. You
- 12:15Speaker 1: can have a high powered offense, you can have great
- 12:18Speaker 1: offensive productivity, but if you do not have a defense
- 12:20Speaker 1: to stop that high powered offense that you see during
- 12:24Speaker 1: the playoffs with any team, it's going to be a
- 12:26Speaker 1: rough go throughout the playoffs. So I think the defense
- 12:29Speaker 1: is back, Josh.
- 12:31Speaker 2: For sure. Jeff, did you know that it's possible for
- 12:34Speaker 2: the top defense in the NFL to have one bad week? No,
- 12:37Speaker 2: that doesn't mean that the sky is falling or that
- 12:40Speaker 2: the season is over right exactly. I'll start first with CJGJ. Yeah,
- 12:46Speaker 2: the only issue I have is the second interception Mitchell
- 12:50Speaker 2: was going to get. Yeah, I really would have liked
- 12:52Speaker 2: for him to get his first, but that's if we're
- 12:55Speaker 2: talking about, you know, things like we want Saquan to
- 12:58Speaker 2: run more so he's closer to a record and our
- 13:00Speaker 2: other My other big complaint is it would have been
- 13:03Speaker 2: nice for CJGJ did not walk away with two interceptions
- 13:06Speaker 2: and just one so somebody else can have one. I
- 13:08Speaker 2: think that means it was a pretty good week. Yes,
- 13:11Speaker 2: Fanjo knows what he's doing right. I don't want to
- 13:14Speaker 2: hear anything about they were playing a backup quarterback. You
- 13:16Speaker 2: know who also is playing a backup quarterback, the Dallas Cowboys.
- 13:20Speaker 2: In fact, the Dallas Cowboys were facing the third string
- 13:22Speaker 2: quarterback at one point, So like I don't, I don't
- 13:25Speaker 2: want to hear about the fact that it was a
- 13:27Speaker 2: backup quarterback because the Eagles hung seven touchdowns with a
- 13:31Speaker 2: backup quarterback on the Dallas defense. That from what I
- 13:34Speaker 2: had heard from Cowboys fans and all the pundits is
- 13:37Speaker 2: that their defense is playing much better, that their defense
- 13:39Speaker 2: has really turned things around. It's got to go both ways, right, like,
- 13:44Speaker 2: you can't say, well, Cooper Rush, who's been in the
- 13:47Speaker 2: Cowboys system for years now, you know you can't give
- 13:52Speaker 2: the defense a pass because he's in there. Kenny Pickett
- 13:56Speaker 2: has been in the Eagles system for months yep. So
- 13:59Speaker 2: like I don't want to hear and Tanner McKee started
- 14:01Speaker 2: as a practice squad player. I don't want to hear
- 14:04Speaker 2: the backup quarterback Nonsenseles. The Eagles did their job today, Jeff.
- 14:11Speaker 2: The Eagles defense did their job. We would have been
- 14:15Speaker 2: upset if they gave up thirty points again. I put
- 14:19Speaker 2: last week's game on the defense. The Eagles did enough offensively.
- 14:25Speaker 2: When you score thirty plus points in a game in
- 14:28Speaker 2: the NFL, that's enough to win. Your defense, especially the
- 14:31Speaker 2: number one defense, needs to be able to hold. It
- 14:33Speaker 2: was nice to see. Actually, I'm just gonna put this
- 14:37Speaker 2: for the whole team. It was so wonderful to see
- 14:40Speaker 2: the complete joy that they had while playing today. I mean,
- 14:44Speaker 2: they just looked like they were having so much fun.
- 14:47Speaker 2: The defense was just yeah, Jalen Carter at the end
- 14:50Speaker 2: of the game, that's like laughing at the Cowboys. Yes,
- 14:53Speaker 2: and it's fantastic. And Micah Parsons Man after he got
- 14:57Speaker 2: called for one of his penalties. That man looks like
- 15:00Speaker 2: he wants out of Dallas so bad, deflating, just so
- 15:03Speaker 2: he is so done with this.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Game season, completely deflated, completely done. Who knows, maybe it
- 15:09Speaker 1: was the Kelly Green game, you know, going back, you
- 15:12Speaker 1: know how many years, and and just you know, everybody
- 15:16Speaker 1: into wearing their Kelly Green. Look what we're doing our
- 15:19Speaker 1: postgame show. You've got your Jason Kelsey, Kelly Green, Jersey on,
- 15:23Speaker 1: I've got my new Merril Reese shirt forty eight at
- 15:27Speaker 1: the anniversary shirt and Kelly Green. It was just this
- 15:32Speaker 1: was the special game the nail and the coffin for
- 15:35Speaker 1: with regard to the NFC East, of course, but you
- 15:38Speaker 1: look again with the defense and talking about the defense.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Next man up. Oran Burks the top tackler in today's game,
- 15:46Speaker 1: filling in for Nakobe Dean. It was amazing to see
- 15:50Speaker 1: him and Zach Bond working together. Oran Burks eight total
- 15:53Speaker 1: tackles on the day. Zach Bond had seven total tackles
- 15:57Speaker 1: on the day. He also had a pass defended. You know,
- 16:00Speaker 1: Zach Bonn should be up for Defensive Player of the Year,
- 16:05Speaker 1: but he is. His name is Zach Bond and he
- 16:08Speaker 1: does not get the name recognition that a lot of
- 16:10Speaker 1: other defensive players get. Probably why he won't get it,
- 16:14Speaker 1: but Zack Bond. And this is not being biased, folks,
- 16:17Speaker 1: Zach Bond should be the defensive player of the Year
- 16:19Speaker 1: for sure in the NFL.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Yeah, And to me, Jeff, this isn't one player having
- 16:24Speaker 2: a good season. To me, the reason why the Eagles
- 16:27Speaker 2: linebackers were as good as they were today is because
- 16:30Speaker 2: of Zach Bond. I saw Howie on his phone. They
- 16:32Speaker 2: had one scene where he's like, you know, pecking at
- 16:35Speaker 2: his phone, and I had said to my brother in law,
- 16:37Speaker 2: I said, I really hope that that's how he get
- 16:40Speaker 2: in the contract on because today showed the value that
- 16:44Speaker 2: Zach Baughan has. Yes, that even when you move pieces around,
- 16:47Speaker 2: it doesn't matter as long as he's in. And you
- 16:50Speaker 2: could see him today. He was pointing, he was directing,
- 16:52Speaker 2: he was doing everything that you're inside linebacker needs to do.
- 16:56Speaker 2: And he did exactly what he needs to do and
- 16:59Speaker 2: the defense didn't skip and beat even with one of
- 17:02Speaker 2: their biggest playmakers this season out.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Yeah. I also love the fact that you can look
- 17:09Speaker 1: at this defensive unit stat sheet here and when you
- 17:14Speaker 1: look at it, You're like, boy, how did this Eagles
- 17:16Speaker 1: defense do what they did today? They only had one sack,
- 17:20Speaker 1: they only had two tackles for a loss, They had
- 17:22Speaker 1: five passes defended, and they only had three quarterback hits
- 17:26Speaker 1: on this Dallas Cowboys offense. But it was the pressure.
- 17:30Speaker 1: It was the pressure that was being put on, not
- 17:33Speaker 1: just by Zach Bonn or in Burgs. All those those
- 17:37Speaker 1: passes defended that were fantastic. I mean you had time
- 17:40Speaker 1: and time again, you had balls being batted at the
- 17:44Speaker 1: line of scrimmage. You just had pressure in front of
- 17:48Speaker 1: Cooper Rush's face all day. The stat sheet really didn't
- 17:52Speaker 1: matter in this game, as it hasn't mattered in a
- 17:55Speaker 1: lot of these games where this Eagles defense and the
- 17:58Speaker 1: pressure is constantly there. May not show up as sacks
- 18:01Speaker 1: all the time, may not show up as quarterback hits
- 18:04Speaker 1: all the time, but the pressure that this defense puts
- 18:06Speaker 1: on opposing quarterbacks, and it's going to be really interesting
- 18:10Speaker 1: to see what the stat sheet is going to be
- 18:11Speaker 1: if the Eagles were to win any of those games
- 18:14Speaker 1: in the future and the playoffs, because they're just bringing
- 18:18Speaker 1: tons of pressure. As I've just mentioned a number of times,
- 18:21Speaker 1: doesn't have to be a huge stat sheet for this
- 18:23Speaker 1: Eagles defense to be absolutely dominant.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Josh, Yeah, I think there's one word that can describe
- 18:29Speaker 2: the Eagles defense outside of last week. Fundamental.
- 18:32Speaker 1: There you go.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Yeah, fundamentals don't show up on the stat sheet, Jeff,
- 18:36Speaker 2: you just don't. Yeah, but if you go back and
- 18:39Speaker 2: you watch now. I had to go back and watch
- 18:41Speaker 2: the game because my wife and I were at the
- 18:42Speaker 2: Trans Hiberian Orchestra concert last week, so I missed it live.
- 18:47Speaker 2: But I had to go back and watch because I
- 18:49Speaker 2: like to be up to date as we're doing these
- 18:52Speaker 2: post games. They had a hard time tackling last week,
- 18:57Speaker 2: they had a really hard time tackling, but today, lopped up,
- 19:01Speaker 2: they tackled, and the fundamentals were there. And I have
- 19:04Speaker 2: a feeling that Vic Dangio probably put together a loop
- 19:07Speaker 2: of miss tackles and just let every player on the
- 19:11Speaker 2: defense have it and just said this is unacceptable because really,
- 19:15Speaker 2: if you look at what the last I would say,
- 19:18Speaker 2: twelve weeks, eleven of the last twelve games they played,
- 19:21Speaker 2: the fundamentals have been there. Like you would alluded to
- 19:24Speaker 2: the statu sheets, pop, they don't need a pop, right,
- 19:28Speaker 2: because They're doing their job and so really fun to watch.
- 19:32Speaker 2: I think we kind of forgot, especially after last year,
- 19:36Speaker 2: we really forgot what fundamental defense looks like. Seth Joyner
- 19:41Speaker 2: has to be very happy. I imagine he's in his
- 19:44Speaker 2: mansion wherever he is, licking his chops and just so excited.
- 19:49Speaker 2: But it's amazing what fundamental defense looks like.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Absolutely, I think that's a great way to end the
- 19:56Speaker 1: theme segment here, unless you got something else, buddy, before
- 19:58Speaker 1: we head to our grades. No, all right, sounds good. Well,
- 20:02Speaker 1: we actually are gonna take a little ad break here, folks.
- 20:06Speaker 1: We're gonna take a break, pay some bills. We're gonna
- 20:08Speaker 1: be back in just a bit where we're gonna get
- 20:09Speaker 1: grade the units and the coaching stick with us. We'll
- 20:13Speaker 1: be back in just a bit. All right, we are back,
- 20:16Speaker 1: and we are still with our good buddy Josh Shuster
- 20:19Speaker 1: from Philadelphia Soccer now dot com helps us out with
- 20:21Speaker 1: some Eagles analysis here on our postgame podcast every now
- 20:24Speaker 1: and again, Let's get into the grading of the Philadelphia
- 20:28Speaker 1: Eagles quarterbacks. To start Kenny Pickett, who went ten to
- 20:31Speaker 1: fifteen four, one hundred and forty three yards nine point
- 20:33Speaker 1: five yards per attempt one touchdown. He ended with a
- 20:37Speaker 1: rating of one nineteen point six. Tanner McKee then came
- 20:40Speaker 1: in only through the ball four times. He completed three
- 20:44Speaker 1: of those passes, two of them were for a touchdown
- 20:48Speaker 1: fifty four yards. On the day, he averaged thirteen point
- 20:51Speaker 1: five yards per attempt. He ended with a rating of
- 20:54Speaker 1: one hundred and fifty six point two. I am giving
- 20:57Speaker 1: the Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacks and a plus this week. I
- 21:01Speaker 1: can't believe I'm saying that with backups, but yes, folks,
- 21:04Speaker 1: that's where we're at, at least from my opinion, A
- 21:06Speaker 1: plus for me. Josh, what do you give them?
- 21:09Speaker 2: Two questions, Jeff, Yes, did the backups cause any turnovers? No?
- 21:14Speaker 2: Did the backups? Were they able to move the ball?
- 21:17Speaker 1: Yes? A plus for me. Yep.
- 21:21Speaker 2: My standard is based off of their contracts, which are
- 21:24Speaker 2: basically minimum contracts. I feel like they played well above
- 21:27Speaker 2: that they get an A plus.
- 21:29Speaker 1: All right, sounds good running backs on the day. Well,
- 21:32Speaker 1: we got Kenneth Gainwell rushing the ball for three three
- 21:35Speaker 1: times for four yards, averaged one point three yards per carry.
- 21:40Speaker 1: Tyron David Davis Pierre A price, sorry got in at
- 21:44Speaker 1: the end of the game. He carried the ball three
- 21:45Speaker 1: times for seven yards averaged two point three yards per carry,
- 21:48Speaker 1: and then Saquon Barkley thirty one carries on the day
- 21:52Speaker 1: for one hundred and sixty seven yards five point four
- 21:55Speaker 1: yards per carry, and as long was twenty three because
- 22:00Speaker 1: he went over two thousand yards. Man, I am giving
- 22:02Speaker 1: him an A plus this week. And by the way,
- 22:05Speaker 1: one hundred and sixty seven yards rushing five point four
- 22:07Speaker 1: yards per carry not too shabby in this game. What
- 22:10Speaker 1: do you give him, Josh?
- 22:12Speaker 2: Is this is this the Davis Price game? This is
- 22:14Speaker 2: two weeks ago Kenny Gamewell averaged like three yards of
- 22:17Speaker 2: carry and it was the Canny Gamewell game. I know
- 22:19Speaker 2: it was the Kenny Gamebow show. Yes, is this the
- 22:21Speaker 2: Davis Price game? Yeah? Okay, oh no, they get they
- 22:25Speaker 2: get into a for me simply because Saquon just every
- 22:29Speaker 2: week it starts out slow, it does You're like, I
- 22:34Speaker 2: really need to do more, and then you get to
- 22:36Speaker 2: the second half and the switch flips.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:39Speaker 2: And anyway, he.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Only had twenty five yards in the first half.
- 22:43Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, okay, and he had I think he had
- 22:46Speaker 2: negative receiving yards too. I was like, this is not good.
- 22:48Speaker 1: Yes, exactly as sounds good. All right, Well, let's get
- 22:53Speaker 1: to receiving and tight ends. Yes, Grant Calcatara, while his
- 22:57Speaker 1: blocking has been absolutely horrible over the past few games,
- 23:01Speaker 1: blocking was still not very good in this game. But
- 23:03Speaker 1: he caught one ball for thirty four yards, a key,
- 23:07Speaker 1: key play. It was a great, great catch. But you
- 23:10Speaker 1: had aj Brown who is just dominant in terms of
- 23:14Speaker 1: that touchdown catch and he, oh boy, he just missed
- 23:16Speaker 1: another touchdown catch with a one arm or a one
- 23:21Speaker 1: hand grab grabbing that ball rate out of the air.
- 23:23Speaker 1: He caught three balls for thirty six yards on the day.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Davante Smith, though targeted seven times, came down with six
- 23:29Speaker 1: balls for one hundred and twenty yards and two touchdowns.
- 23:32Speaker 1: I'm gonna give the receivers this week an A minus.
- 23:35Speaker 1: I thought they did what they needed to do in
- 23:38Speaker 1: this game. I really did. Ball was only thrown to
- 23:40Speaker 1: aj Brown five times, came down with three balls for
- 23:43Speaker 1: thirty six yards. But the receivers just haven't been asked
- 23:46Speaker 1: to do too too much over the course of the
- 23:49Speaker 1: past few weeks. But I'm gonna I'm gonna give him
- 23:51Speaker 1: a minus. What do you give him?
- 23:53Speaker 2: I mean, they get an a plus from me. The
- 23:55Speaker 2: ball was thrown nineteen times today between two quarterbacks. I mean,
- 24:00Speaker 2: at some point you have to look at the number
- 24:01Speaker 2: of you have to look at the play calling, and
- 24:05Speaker 2: there weren't really any drops. There weren't any turnovers, and
- 24:09Speaker 2: I would argue that they made plays when they needed to,
- 24:12Speaker 2: So they get an A plus for me.
- 24:14Speaker 1: All right, very good. All right, Let's move the offensive line.
- 24:17Speaker 1: Offensive line rushing in the first half, it was tough
- 24:21Speaker 1: for like we mentioned, Sakuon Barkley had twenty five yards
- 24:24Speaker 1: in the first half, then broke things open because the
- 24:26Speaker 1: offensive line I think was giving him those lanes a
- 24:29Speaker 1: lot more in the second half. Rough first half for
- 24:32Speaker 1: the offensive line in terms of the rushing game, but
- 24:35Speaker 1: in terms of pass protection. Thought they generally did a
- 24:38Speaker 1: pretty good job as well. I'm giving the offensive line
- 24:41Speaker 1: in a this week. What do you give them?
- 24:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I'd give him an A. I don't see really
- 24:47Speaker 2: any reason to give them, Okay, any different of a grade.
- 24:51Speaker 2: I thought they did a very good job. It kind
- 24:54Speaker 2: of takes a lot for me to give the offensive
- 24:57Speaker 2: line a worse grade than an A, just because they
- 25:00Speaker 2: are such a good offensive line unit.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely, all right, let's head over to the defensive
- 25:06Speaker 1: side of things. The defensive line this week, Boy, with
- 25:09Speaker 1: all those batted balls, it was it was beautiful to see.
- 25:13Speaker 1: I don't have the stats in front of me in
- 25:14Speaker 1: terms of how many batted balls there were, but it
- 25:16Speaker 1: was just it was beautiful. It was a beautiful thing.
- 25:19Speaker 1: And again, just the pressure that they were getting doesn't
- 25:22Speaker 1: show up on the stat sheet. You were talking about
- 25:24Speaker 1: the fundamentals earlier and them going back to those fundamentals
- 25:28Speaker 1: on defense, especially the defensive line. I mean they get Look,
- 25:32Speaker 1: they gave up some rushing yards. I mean Rico Dawell
- 25:35Speaker 1: had one hundred and four yards on the day on
- 25:37Speaker 1: twenty three carries. But I think overall, I'm gonna give
- 25:41Speaker 1: the defensive line an A minus this week. What do
- 25:43Speaker 1: you give them?
- 25:44Speaker 2: Did they get an as? For me? I mean, even
- 25:46Speaker 2: for Rico, most of his yards came in the fourth
- 25:48Speaker 2: quarter with they had backups, and I can't hold that
- 25:51Speaker 2: against the defensive line. For the most part. Really, outside
- 25:55Speaker 2: of that first, first and second drive, they really were unstoppable.
- 26:01Speaker 2: They really they closed up holes. I mean really, just
- 26:06Speaker 2: I give him an eight boss.
- 26:07Speaker 1: Yeah, and look the fact that Cooper rush he threw
- 26:10Speaker 1: the ball twenty eight times, completed fifteen balls. There's only
- 26:14Speaker 1: one hundred and forty seven yards five point three yards
- 26:18Speaker 1: per attempt. Yes, he threw a touchdown, but he had
- 26:21Speaker 1: two interceptions as well. A future day from him, and
- 26:23Speaker 1: a lot of that was because of the defensive line
- 26:26Speaker 1: and because of the linebackers, which I am giving the
- 26:29Speaker 1: linebackers and a plus this week again, Zach Baond did
- 26:33Speaker 1: a fantastic job and Aaron Burks getting doing what he
- 26:38Speaker 1: needed to do, filling in for to Kobe Dean. Is
- 26:41Speaker 1: zach Aron Burks a plus for me?
- 26:43Speaker 2: Man?
- 26:43Speaker 1: What do you give him?
- 26:46Speaker 2: Yeah? You know, I'm going to give him an A.
- 26:49Speaker 2: And just to highlight your point, you know, I just
- 26:51Speaker 2: pulled up Cooper Rush's stats. This is the lowest offensive output.
- 26:56Speaker 2: The Eagles have posted the two lowest offensive outputs for
- 27:00Speaker 2: Cooper Rush this season. So, like, I get that he's
- 27:03Speaker 2: a backup, but last week he threw for like three
- 27:06Speaker 2: hundred yards. Yeah, he was twenty six and thirty five
- 27:09Speaker 2: for two hundred and ninety two yards. His quarterback rating
- 27:12Speaker 2: was one hundred and eight point three. The week before that,
- 27:15Speaker 2: his quarterback rating was one hundred and nineteen like, I don't.
- 27:18Speaker 2: I don't want to hear that the Eagles defense was
- 27:22Speaker 2: as good as it is because Cooper Rush was in there.
- 27:24Speaker 2: Cooper Rush is a fine backup quarterback obviously. If they've
- 27:28Speaker 2: won four of the last five games, they're able to
- 27:31Speaker 2: win with him. So I don't want to hear any
- 27:33Speaker 2: of that nonsense. The linebackers continue to be great in coverage.
- 27:37Speaker 2: It doesn't matter who was next to Zach Bond. Yep,
- 27:41Speaker 2: he really is key. They get an a plus for me,
- 27:45Speaker 2: all right?
- 27:45Speaker 1: Man, how he should have gotten that contract done weeks
- 27:48Speaker 1: and weeks ago. At this point, man, he's gonna have
- 27:50Speaker 1: to pay through the nodes at this point.
- 27:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm also partial Zach Bond because I have his haircut,
- 27:56Speaker 2: you do, so, Yeah, you know I'm always here the
- 28:00Speaker 2: ball guys, all.
- 28:01Speaker 1: Right, Secondary this week, I mean you can you can't
- 28:04Speaker 1: go wrong with given at least for me, this secondary
- 28:08Speaker 1: with CJ. Gardner Johnson, we talked about him earlier before
- 28:11Speaker 1: the break. His two interceptions, he's just been such a
- 28:15Speaker 1: key component to the secondary over these past few weeks,
- 28:18Speaker 1: really has stepped it up. I'm going to give the
- 28:21Speaker 1: secondary and a plus this week. Yes, I know that
- 28:24Speaker 1: I know that Mitchell gave up yet another touchdown. He yes,
- 28:28Speaker 1: he is a rookie. Oh boy, though, folks, he gave
- 28:30Speaker 1: up two touchdowns so far this year, one last week,
- 28:34Speaker 1: one this week. It's okay, this guy's not falling. Not
- 28:36Speaker 1: that anybody has been saying that, but still it's okay
- 28:40Speaker 1: for them to give up a touchdown every now and again.
- 28:43Speaker 1: The secondary, I thought performed phenomenally in this game. I'm
- 28:45Speaker 1: giving them an A plus. What do you give them?
- 28:47Speaker 2: I'm going to give two separate grades for the safeties.
- 28:51Speaker 2: I'm going to give them an A. Okay, I thought
- 28:53Speaker 2: safeties were great and coverage I'm going to give a
- 28:56Speaker 2: B plus to the corners, okay, mostly because there were
- 29:00Speaker 2: a number of wide receivers that were running absolutely wide
- 29:04Speaker 2: open and that wasn't That wasn't great. But overall, there
- 29:11Speaker 2: were seven points scored by the Cowboys. Like, I'm not
- 29:15Speaker 2: going to be too hard on them. I think this
- 29:17Speaker 2: is probably the worst grade I've given them all year. Yeah,
- 29:21Speaker 2: not great, and I didn't do the post game last week,
- 29:23Speaker 2: so that would have been worse. Yes, but they go
- 29:26Speaker 2: to B plus from.
- 29:27Speaker 1: That, Yeah, sounds good. And look, I know Dallas Cowboy
- 29:29Speaker 1: fans are saying, well, ceedee Lamb wasn't out there. You know,
- 29:32Speaker 1: you play who you play, You play who you play.
- 29:34Speaker 2: At the end of the day, the Eagles had their
- 29:35Speaker 2: number one and number two wide receiver missing for parts
- 29:38Speaker 2: of the season. Yes, I don't want to hear it, yep,
- 29:40Speaker 2: and they won games like I don't. I don't want
- 29:42Speaker 2: to hear my philosophy Japon injuries much like officiating, it
- 29:46Speaker 2: is what it is, right right, Like I kept hearing
- 29:48Speaker 2: about officials being bad. The Eagles won by thirty five points. Yes,
- 29:52Speaker 2: let's stop with officiating and then with injuries. I think
- 29:56Speaker 2: every year when you look at the schedule, you have
- 29:58Speaker 2: to give one automatic loss injuries. Every team goes through them.
- 30:02Speaker 2: It's true for every team there's at least one loss
- 30:04Speaker 2: that happens because of injuries. Like, it's just what happens.
- 30:07Speaker 2: Both teams had a number of players out today. It
- 30:11Speaker 2: just goes the show the difference between a deep roster
- 30:14Speaker 2: and one that is very top heavy. That's what the
- 30:17Speaker 2: difference is.
- 30:18Speaker 1: Absolutely great, great points. Let's now move to the coaching.
- 30:21Speaker 1: We're going to be starting off with special teams as
- 30:24Speaker 1: we always do. You've got Kenneth Gainwell, who had two
- 30:29Speaker 1: kick returns. He averaged thirty yards on those two kick returns,
- 30:35Speaker 1: total of sixty yards total, as long as thirty six
- 30:39Speaker 1: Cooper dejen In terms of punt returns, he had two
- 30:41Speaker 1: of them for fifteen total yards. He averaged seven point
- 30:45Speaker 1: five yards per punt return. Jake Elliott nailed all of
- 30:48Speaker 1: his extra points today. He had two field goals. This
- 30:52Speaker 1: is long on the day, thank goodness. It didn't have
- 30:54Speaker 1: to be fifty yards or more. It was a thirty
- 30:56Speaker 1: one yarder. But I will say Braden Man had two
- 31:00Speaker 1: touchbacks today and one in particular. And maybe I'm being
- 31:03Speaker 1: a little too nitpicky here. On the Eagles second drive
- 31:06Speaker 1: of the game, Nick Sirianni decided to punt it on
- 31:10Speaker 1: fourth and one on the Eagles forty six yard line.
- 31:14Speaker 1: Braiden Man his subsequent punt rolls into the end zone.
- 31:18Speaker 1: It was for a thirty two net yards on the
- 31:21Speaker 1: change of possession. And that was after the second drive
- 31:24Speaker 1: of the game. And as I mentioned earlier, it's where
- 31:26Speaker 1: the Eagles had only had nine yards total up until
- 31:29Speaker 1: that point. I don't know braiden Man. He was taken
- 31:33Speaker 1: off of his kicking duties, the kickoff duties. So I
- 31:37Speaker 1: don't know if there's something going on with him that
- 31:39Speaker 1: leads me to my grade, which is I'm going to
- 31:42Speaker 1: be giving this team the special teams a B plus
- 31:46Speaker 1: this week. What do you give him, Josh?
- 31:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I think Jeff your comment that braidon Man and
- 31:51Speaker 2: being hard on him, I think it kind of goes
- 31:53Speaker 2: to show that with and kickers, when you have really
- 31:58Speaker 2: good ones, not only do you not really say much,
- 32:02Speaker 2: but you just kind of like take it for granted.
- 32:05Speaker 2: And so I think one of the reasons why you're
- 32:07Speaker 2: being hard on Brandon Man is because he's been a
- 32:10Speaker 2: really good punter.
- 32:10Speaker 1: For He's been solid, and so he's.
- 32:14Speaker 2: Allowed to have one off game, right, Like, this isn't
- 32:17Speaker 2: a Sason long thing. And honestly, Rianni maybe at the point,
- 32:22Speaker 2: because they've already clinched the playoff spot, he may be
- 32:26Speaker 2: at a point in trying players in different positions. In case,
- 32:29Speaker 2: let's say Jake Elliott gets injured in the first playoff game,
- 32:32Speaker 2: they need somebody to do kickoffs, or you know, insert
- 32:36Speaker 2: whatever reason it might be. They have to have a reverse.
- 32:40Speaker 2: Sorry Brady Man gets hurt, they need somebody to change
- 32:43Speaker 2: to do kickoffs. They want to make sure that they
- 32:45Speaker 2: have real game time experience. It is what it is.
- 32:50Speaker 2: I'm not reading too much into anything. Braidon Man has
- 32:52Speaker 2: been great this season. If you're not talking about your punter,
- 32:56Speaker 2: you know you have a good one. I'm not worried
- 32:58Speaker 2: about it. Can well, I know, I give him a
- 33:01Speaker 2: hard He did have one good return, yes, probably his
- 33:06Speaker 2: best return all season. So can he gain them? Well,
- 33:10Speaker 2: here's your flowers. I'll give them to you for your
- 33:14Speaker 2: one good punt return this year.
- 33:16Speaker 1: There you go.
- 33:17Speaker 2: Butpecially yeah, kick return I will give. I will give
- 33:22Speaker 2: special teams. They'll probably get my lowest grade of an A.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Okay, sounds good. Sounds good, Nick Fangio. As we were
- 33:30Speaker 1: giving out the defensive unit grades, I think there is
- 33:33Speaker 1: no other grade to give Vic Fangio than an A plus.
- 33:35Speaker 1: When you're holding a team in the NFL to seven
- 33:37Speaker 1: points at the end of the day, you see what
- 33:40Speaker 1: the quarterback stats are, we read through them earlier. What
- 33:42Speaker 1: Cooper Rush did do or what he did not do
- 33:45Speaker 1: during this game? Uh, A plus for Vic Fangio, per usual.
- 33:50Speaker 2: It seems like, yeah, you know, really the only gameless
- 33:55Speaker 2: year that I wouldn't give it to him is last week, yeah,
- 33:57Speaker 2: A plus.
- 33:58Speaker 1: Yep, yep, great points in Nick Sirianni and Kellen Moore.
- 34:02Speaker 1: The first couple drives of the game, I was like, well, well, well,
- 34:06Speaker 1: I guess they're gonna be getting a D minus from me. However,
- 34:10Speaker 1: things turned around and they were able to adapt, like
- 34:13Speaker 1: I said earlier, able to adapt able to make changes
- 34:17Speaker 1: not just throughout the week, but in game as well
- 34:19Speaker 1: when your backup quarterback then gets injured. I'm gonna give
- 34:23Speaker 1: Nick Siriani and Kellen Moore and a straight up A
- 34:26Speaker 1: in this for this matchup, could be an A plus two.
- 34:29Speaker 1: But they did a fantastic job per per usual. They
- 34:33Speaker 1: really have this offense clicking. So what do you give them?
- 34:36Speaker 2: Josh, Yeah, I'm going to give him an A plus.
- 34:40Speaker 2: And I really think it's time and I'm gonna call
- 34:44Speaker 2: myself guilty of this. You know, towards the beginning of
- 34:46Speaker 2: the season, maybe it was post game week three or
- 34:49Speaker 2: four where or no, I guess it was a little
- 34:51Speaker 2: bit later on me. It was like six, seven or
- 34:53Speaker 2: eight somewhere in there. I had talked about that the
- 34:57Speaker 2: Eagles were winning in spite of Nick Siriani.
- 35:00Speaker 1: Both talked about that, yeah.
- 35:02Speaker 2: And that they were now in a position where they
- 35:04Speaker 2: were winning and it was going to force Nick Sirianni
- 35:06Speaker 2: to keep his job. I really think given this season,
- 35:11Speaker 2: things could have really unraveled after last week, right, it didn't.
- 35:16Speaker 2: I genuinely believe that Nick Sirianni learned from from what
- 35:22Speaker 2: happened last year. Was it fun what the Eagles fans
- 35:25Speaker 2: went through last year? Absolutely not. But all I can
- 35:28Speaker 2: ask that you learn from mistakes that you made or
- 35:33Speaker 2: when things aren't going well, and he definitely has and
- 35:38Speaker 2: he has this Eagles team playing very well. My brother
- 35:42Speaker 2: in law talked about it. The Eagles are hot, and
- 35:45Speaker 2: they are and if I'm an NFC team, I absolutely
- 35:48Speaker 2: have zero desire to come into Philadelphia and have to play. Yeah.
- 35:53Speaker 2: And with the Lions, you know, talk about a team
- 35:56Speaker 2: that's riddled with injuries. I know they're having a great season.
- 36:00Speaker 2: But I think if you put the two rosters together,
- 36:04Speaker 2: the Eagles definitely have the better roster. And I think
- 36:08Speaker 2: the Eagles, because the lines will likely excuse me, have
- 36:11Speaker 2: the one seed. The idea of going into Detroit is
- 36:16Speaker 2: more favorable this year than last year. It had been
- 36:19Speaker 2: so long and they were talking about how loud it
- 36:23Speaker 2: was and how hard it was to do anything. I
- 36:25Speaker 2: just think Nick Sirianni has this team ready. I'm not
- 36:29Speaker 2: going to be upset if they give him an extension.
- 36:32Speaker 2: I think Nick Sirianni much like I had said with
- 36:36Speaker 2: Jim Curtin, it took me a while to win me over.
- 36:39Speaker 2: But I don't really view him as a dope. I
- 36:42Speaker 2: think how he interacts with the media and different people
- 36:46Speaker 2: is purely I should say. It's very different than how
- 36:51Speaker 2: he is in the locker room, and people like Brandon
- 36:53Speaker 2: Graham and Jason Kelsey have talked about it. He rips
- 36:56Speaker 2: players to shreds in these private meetings, but publicly you
- 37:01Speaker 2: know he'll defend it, and so I I think Nick
- 37:05Speaker 2: Sirianni has done a really great job for a coach
- 37:07Speaker 2: that came in knowing that he's on the hot seat.
- 37:10Speaker 2: They've lost three games this year, yeah, and next week
- 37:13Speaker 2: they may lose, But if they're resting all their players,
- 37:16Speaker 2: I don't really chop that one up to Nick. Yeah,
- 37:19Speaker 2: it's just rustling players. Yeah, So yeah, I'm I'm just
- 37:24Speaker 2: I'm very happy with Nick. I'm hoping that Kellen Moore
- 37:27Speaker 2: can stay because I really think the two of them
- 37:30Speaker 2: work very well together and are in sync.
- 37:33Speaker 1: You make such great points there, especially with regard to Sirianni,
- 37:37Speaker 1: and you know, we've said it a couple times on
- 37:38Speaker 1: these postgame shows. We've said it on the regular show
- 37:41Speaker 1: as well. The growth that Nick Sirianni goes through, and
- 37:44Speaker 1: I think I think a lot of us who are
- 37:46Speaker 1: open to whatever criticisms that there are out there with
- 37:50Speaker 1: regard to our jobs, or our professions or whatever the
- 37:54Speaker 1: case is. If we do have that open mind like
- 37:57Speaker 1: it seems Nick Sirianni has had this year, we're gonna
- 38:00Speaker 1: be successful if we're able to sit back, reflect and
- 38:04Speaker 1: even critique ourselves, as it appears Nick Sirianni has probably
- 38:08Speaker 1: done to then say, Okay, I'm going to implement a
- 38:11Speaker 1: different type of whether it's strategy or how I relate
- 38:16Speaker 1: to my players. That growth, I think is so incredibly
- 38:19Speaker 1: important and essential to this season. This season where this
- 38:23Speaker 1: team is three and thirteen I'm sorry, thirteen and three
- 38:28Speaker 1: on the season. You're not going to get there after
- 38:32Speaker 1: what happened last year, that monumental collapse without having internal growth.
- 38:38Speaker 1: And I think that's what Nick Sirianni has done and
- 38:40Speaker 1: like you, Josh, I think, and I hope that Kellen
- 38:43Speaker 1: Moore stays doesn't accept it coaching a position somewhere else,
- 38:48Speaker 1: because them meshing together seems to be working and clicking
- 38:52Speaker 1: to the point where they are just a steamrolling offensive
- 38:57Speaker 1: disaster for any defense in this league at this point.
- 39:00Speaker 1: And it's a beautiful thing to see that it's acted
- 39:03Speaker 1: that something like that has actually happened in the city
- 39:06Speaker 1: of Philadelphia with one of our teams that we love
- 39:08Speaker 1: so much. So yeah, I mean as straight up a
- 39:11Speaker 1: for me, for Nick Sirianni and Kellen Moore as I mentioned,
- 39:15Speaker 1: And dude, I can't wait to see what's gonna happen
- 39:17Speaker 1: next week with Saquon if he's gonna break Eric Dickerson's
- 39:20Speaker 1: single season rushing record. I can't believe that we're even
- 39:23Speaker 1: talking about the possibility of that happening. It's crazy. God,
- 39:28Speaker 1: thank you New York Giants for the gift, the holiday gift,
- 39:31Speaker 1: My goodness, I love it. And uh, where this team
- 39:35Speaker 1: goes in the playoffs, man, I mean I feel really good.
- 39:37Speaker 1: You know, we're watching a lot of our teams now,
- 39:40Speaker 1: whether it's the Philadelphia seventy six Ers, the Flyers, Flyers
- 39:43Speaker 1: have been doing some good stuff here and there, seeing
- 39:46Speaker 1: some decent things on the ice. But world of Philly
- 39:48Speaker 1: sports is very interesting right now. In the Philadelphia Eagles
- 39:51Speaker 1: are certainly at the top. It's really fun.
- 39:52Speaker 2: Man and the Union they signing players. Yeah, yeah, it's
- 39:57Speaker 2: just a crazy time to be alive the sports fan.
- 40:01Speaker 2: I think Hell is freezing over, frozen over. But you.
- 40:06Speaker 1: Spoken from the man of the cloth here folks, Josh, Buddy,
- 40:12Speaker 1: it was great talking to you. Thanks so much for
- 40:13Speaker 1: filling in for the guys. Very much appreciated. Anything else
- 40:17Speaker 1: before we head out here, Buddy, No.
- 40:19Speaker 2: I just think, well, two things. I really I really
- 40:24Speaker 2: would encourage Eagles fans to just reconsider their opinion on
- 40:28Speaker 2: make Sirianni. If you look at this year, I really
- 40:32Speaker 2: think we really need to get behind him. Sure he
- 40:37Speaker 2: doesn't always make the best decisions, but I don't think
- 40:39Speaker 2: any of us do right. We all make mistakes. He
- 40:43Speaker 2: owns them and he improves from them. The second thing
- 40:47Speaker 2: is thought some prayers out to the Carter family as
- 40:51Speaker 2: they are going through the loss of Jimmy Carter, as
- 40:55Speaker 2: we just found out before we started recording, so I
- 40:58Speaker 2: thought some prayers to them.
- 40:59Speaker 1: Great to end this Eagles postgame podcast show again Week seventeen.
- 41:05Speaker 1: Now in the books here in this Philadelphia Eagles twenty
- 41:07Speaker 1: twenty four, twenty twenty five season, beating the Dallas Cowboys
- 41:11Speaker 1: by a score of forty one to seven, clinching the
- 41:15Speaker 1: NFC East title. It's a great, great phrase to be
- 41:19Speaker 1: able to say here at the end of December twenty
- 41:22Speaker 1: twenty four, as we looked to twenty twenty five, got
- 41:25Speaker 1: a lot of great things coming here at the PST
- 41:27Speaker 1: podcast show. Head back in the feed, listen to some
- 41:30Speaker 1: of our recent shows. We had one of our good friends,
- 41:33Speaker 1: Mark lacass On recently. He's formerly of the band Gody Hook,
- 41:37Speaker 1: the punk band Gody Hook, and we, along with Eric
- 41:41Speaker 1: took a look at some best albums of two thousand
- 41:45Speaker 1: and four. Yes, we went twenty years back, and we
- 41:49Speaker 1: had a great discussion, a good hour over an hour
- 41:51Speaker 1: and a half discussion about those albums. We also talked
- 41:53Speaker 1: about some crap albums from that year as well. A great,
- 41:57Speaker 1: great show, very interesting during this holiday. Again, we close
- 42:00Speaker 1: out twenty twenty four wishing you and yours all the
- 42:03Speaker 1: best this coming week this coming year, twenty twenty five.
- 42:08Speaker 1: It's gonna do it for us. Folks. Take care, we'll
- 42:10Speaker 1: catch you next time.
