- MidThoughtChris: Good evening everybody. Welcome to the MidThought Crisis podcast. My name is Chris. He's Eric. Let's see where this one goes. What's happening, bud? How are you? Midthought Eric: Hey I'm Eric. It will go far. I'm good, I'm living the dream. We had a little bit of a break, but we filled in for it with some good, from the archives. For all of our fans out there, don't get too complacent, because you never know what you're gonna get. And you just might get our very first episode MidThoughtChris: Unless it will go far. Living the dream, huh bud? What's new? We're on a break. from the archives. You just never know what you're gonna get. Midthought Eric: with many guests before you knew what hit you. MidThoughtChris: Many guests. Some four-legged, some two, some old, some young. Midthought Eric: I thought that was great. It was so refreshing ⁓ Yeah, that was what what blew me blew my mind the most was how long ago that was like that was what four months ago already MidThoughtChris: Yeah. Yeah, those before Christmas. And if you're not sure what Eric's referring to, because you're just tuning in, ⁓ you're out of the loop. Eric is there it is. ⁓ We we released the first first episode we ever recorded. Eric came down here a little bit before Christmas for a concert, a ⁓ mammoth show, ⁓ and we decided to ⁓ hit record when he came down here. Midthought Eric: Who's Devember? You're a loser! You're out of the loop. Mm-hmm. MidThoughtChris: ⁓ And that was the episode that we that we pushed actually I think it ⁓ pushed what today would say last night something to that effect ⁓ but yeah, we decided to just let it go, know, we were hanging on to it is kind of in the archives and ⁓ We were like, hey, this is pretty this is pretty Eric came up with a great title. It was ⁓ telling me to tell him your title, bud Midthought Eric: It was the first time. Yesterday. Look look how far we haven't come Was that it Yeah, look how far yeah because you would think you would think in four months we'd come far we go far but What's funny what I thought was funny was? ⁓ all the things that you said you were gonna edit out and None of it happened MidThoughtChris: Yes. That was it. Look how far we haven't come. Yeah, just kind of... Yeah, still. ⁓ I just let it go. Yeah. I didn't edit anything out. think the more I think about the more I think about it, the less I want to like over edit everything. I mean, we there's like the app that we program the software, whatever the heck you want to call it. The software that we use allows you to like, you know, take away some of the, you know, spacing and crap like that. But I don't know, I really don't even like using that because I don't know, it seems a little bit less authentic. Midthought Eric: It's got to be raw and emotional and powerful. MidThoughtChris: And I'd rather be, you know, I think that's what, I think that's what in our day and age, I think that's what people are craving the most. I don't know about you, that's, yeah. Midthought Eric: People want MidThoughtChris: Yeah, yeah, I think I think that's what I'm coming coming to. So, yeah. So, that that it was that was it was a fun episode. And I think again, just kind of how we've done these things is, you know, just nothing planned, just like like we would on our drive home. ⁓ You know, we had both my my daughters were involved. They came in and you know, chatted with us for a little bit. did some taste tests on some crumble cookie, which is great. My senile old yellow lab destroyed the entire studio. He knocked over. I have three lights. I have one over here, one over here. He wanted the food and so he's just kind of oblivious and came running in. ⁓ Midthought Eric: He was so excited to be part of the set. ⁓ No, what he wanted was not the food, it was the studio, he wanted to be on the set. MidThoughtChris: He wanted to be on the set. He wanted to be the face. He saw Uncle Eric. He's like, he'll give me food. He'll give me food. Midthought Eric: And the company he wanted me he saw uncle Eric The mascot Crumble cookies. Yeah, no, it's good MidThoughtChris: Yeah, with some crumble cookies. What was ⁓ your favorite part about ⁓ watching that? What did you like best? Midthought Eric: ⁓ What I liked best was just how like it was the very first one we did we had no idea we were we still have no idea we're doing but ⁓ Looking back on it for the first time. I did listen to it initially ⁓ Once we first recorded that ⁓ but it's been a while and I think what MidThoughtChris: Yeah. No idea. Right, right. Yeah. Midthought Eric: What is cool about it is we were together, of course. It was the only one we have recorded together. So yes, we were right next to each other. MidThoughtChris: Yeah. In the same room. And if there's one thing that I could change, it's that I would change your geographic location. I would help you come to your senses and bring you down to the land of palm trees so that you could, so that we could get some storefront and record and save building. Midthought Eric: I am in the land of milk and honey. MidThoughtChris: The land of snow and cold. Midthought Eric: Hey, it was 84 degrees today. MidThoughtChris: And what's it going to be in two days? Midthought Eric: like 41. But there's hope. MidThoughtChris: I took a guess two days. didn't have Midthought Eric: Actually, yeah, think it does. think you're right. Let's see. so yesterday was 79. Today, yesterday was 79. Today was 84. Tomorrow goes to 76. And then Thursday's 47. MidThoughtChris: I didn't have any specific intel. I just took a wild guess that in two days you would probably have garbage weather. ⁓ Okay, okay, okay. That's not terrible. Midthought Eric: And then next Tuesday is back to next Tuesday 31. We're the wrong way here, weather. It's just like a little bit of everything. So this morning when I woke up and went to work, it was 42. But it was one of those, I didn't feel like it was 42 because you knew how warm it was going to get. The sun was shining. It was on its way up, right? So it was 42. And then it was, yes, yes, like down there, it's like way too much. MidThoughtChris: ⁓ jeez! my god! Turn around! Okay. that sun makes all the difference. That sun makes all the difference. Midthought Eric: It's like the sun is right here on top of me. It's too hot. MidThoughtChris: No, it's perfect. No, it's not. It's at least one foot higher than that. Midthought Eric: But yeah, 80, when I went to work, 42. When I came back from work, 84. That's a 42 degree difference. MidThoughtChris: That's a football score. ⁓ man. One day. That is such a great bonus. There are so many of these things that are so intrinsic to our friendship. Intrinsic. Do like that? That might be the new Genesis. ⁓ Midthought Eric: That's a football score! 12 to 4! Yeah, that's crazy though, isn't it? 42. That was a good word. ⁓ you had to say it. I was just waiting for Genesis. MidThoughtChris: intrinsic to our friendship that like if you're if you're just casually listening along you like the heck is wrong with these dudes which you're probably gonna say anyway but Midthought Eric: Yeah, 42 degrees in one day is a big jump. MidThoughtChris: Yeah, that is a football scorer. That is a route. Midthought Eric: And we wonder why everybody is everybody is getting $50. MidThoughtChris: I almost spit my bourbon! You got me. only seven minutes in, you got me. Midthought Eric: We're wondering why everybody's getting sick around here. Our poor little lungs, they can't handle it. MidThoughtChris: because you have a 40 degree swing. Yeah, are you getting sick? Are you sick? Midthought Eric: ⁓ So, yes, now I just got over being sick. MidThoughtChris: Okay, I'm glad. Midthought Eric: I had my bi-annual belt of the sinus infection. MidThoughtChris: Sorry. I don't know what made me laugh. Anyway, continue. That's it. Midthought Eric: That's it. Anyway, so to answer your question, my favorite part of our first episode was the complete authenticity of it. It was completely unplanned. You had kids walking in that we didn't even know were there yet. We had a dog ravage the studio. was just pure. was unadulterated and it was natural, all natural. MidThoughtChris: Yeah. Losing his mind. All natural. Midthought Eric: What about you? What about you? What was your favorite part? MidThoughtChris: ⁓ I hate to say the same thing, but honestly that is truly it. think it was, I think that was the first time that we like got together and actually hit play on something, right? Because before that, I don't even think, that was the first time, we hadn't even tried it out yet, right? Like we didn't try it out. No, you opened up your crap here, right? That was the first time you opened it up and it. Midthought Eric: being with me, having me come down there. No. Yeah, it was brand new. Yep. Yep. MidThoughtChris: may or may not have taken us seven hours to get your all of our stuffs like figured out a glitches, right? So we didn't have two laptops. And so we're trying to run it all through one and long story short, these ⁓ boomers over here finally got it figured out. And ⁓ yeah, I think that's that was one of the my most favorite parts is that, you know, it ⁓ was kind of ⁓ a confirmation that ⁓ there were at least two people Midthought Eric: ⁓ There were a few glitches, if you will, a few glitches. Yeah, yep. MidThoughtChris: that we're going to be entertained by this. And it was you and it was me, Clyde. Yeah, and Bonnie, who is right below me right now. And so my wife's going to get home from picking up Haley from dance here in a second. And I'm sure this dog is going to lose her mind and go sprinting out the door. But yeah, neither here nor there. But that was truly, truly my favorite part about it was that we ⁓ Midthought Eric: Clyde? ⁓ You That's right, I'm well familiar, I'm well acquainted with that. MidThoughtChris: You know, I don't know about you, but for me it was like, oh man, this is this this is going to be a lot of fun because it's just zero plans. Just for some reason or other, we decided to put, you know, our phone calls home on recording. So, yeah. On our phone calls on our commute home. Yeah. Midthought Eric: Yeah, I I brought this microphone. I brought this microphone out there and all that stuff. MidThoughtChris: Yeah, you brought it out there. Yeah, two days, ⁓ two days prior to that, ⁓ you've got a shirt on there from heart of seltzer. We watched, ⁓ you know, drinking bros podcast, which is a lot of fun. We want to go watch the USF. Watch the USF game with those guys. ton of fun. And I'm not normally a seltzer guy, but that stuff is just outstanding. Midthought Eric: It was all natural. Plug, plug. MidThoughtChris: Like those things taste like Jolly Ranchers. if you're like me, you're typically a bourbon guy, but you're kind of in the market for ⁓ something to ⁓ kind of shake it up a little bit, ⁓ heartache seltzer is delicious. ⁓ Midthought Eric: Same. Same. to wet your whistle. MidThoughtChris: So yeah, that was two days before that. And then the night before we recorded, there was the Mammoth show just, yeah, it just really kind of kicked off our time with a great weekend. So it was great having you down here. ⁓ Midthought Eric: Yeah, we should do that again. MidThoughtChris: We should, and I think there's a potential in a, what was that, April, I think. Midthought Eric: Well, one was in April, one was in May. You still have for action to get back to me. MidThoughtChris: April or May. I do have that for action. will I will reach out to you. I said I was going to put a pin in it and I would reach out to you Sep core. We're going to we're going to figure that out. Midthought Eric: You said you were gonna put a thumbtack in that. Put a pin in that. Subcore. Yeah, so ⁓ hey, I have a quick update on, I don't know if it's an update, but I have another development on Chicken. MidThoughtChris: ⁓ boy. you have a new chicken place. Midthought Eric: No, but ⁓ there was another. MidThoughtChris: No, do we need a do we need a do we need a quick or do our listeners just going to have to go back and find the episode where we talked about chicken? Midthought Eric: Well, we happen to talk about chicken a lot on this show for some reason. ⁓ MidThoughtChris: We kind of do. Take a wild guess what I had for dinner. Midthought Eric: Was it the the sauce one the sauce chicken? MidThoughtChris: ⁓ No, was Zaxby's. had, but yeah, I had, ⁓ they have like a toast, like a toast, like fried chicken sandwich thing. It was good. Continue, sorry, I derailed. I don't mean to derail. Midthought Eric: Zaxby's I know what you're saying You're good. Mm-hmm. Yeah, but ⁓ so we were no we were talking about like We were talking about ⁓ boneless chicken not being boneless and chicken wings are just yeah chicken wings are just like a a Style, right? Is that what that crazy lawsuit said? So MidThoughtChris: The lawsuit, yes. the boneless chicken wings. Midthought Eric: What was the lawsuit that you had shared? I forget. Let's remind the audience and me. MidThoughtChris: Yeah, it was, it was, there was a lawsuit brought out. I can't remember what I think was some part of the Midwest where a gentleman ended up choking on some boneless wings because a bone got lodged somewhere on his esophagus or, somewhere in it. And it caused a massive affection. had all sorts of complications from it. And the Supreme court and whatever state this was in said that ⁓ determined that this was a Style of chicken and that they that he should have reasonably expected to find bones in the boneless chicken So our judicial system is broken to say the least when you know some boneless chicken wings Can actually have bones in there. Are you sharing your screen? Midthought Eric: That's a style. Whoo, yeah, that's rough. Yes, can you see it? MidThoughtChris: I do not see it yet, but I'm sure it will make its way up soon. What am I seeing here whenever I see it? Midthought Eric: ⁓ MidThoughtChris: It's loading. It doesn't mean the audience can't see it, but I can't see it quite yet. Midthought Eric: You will see. ⁓ Anyways, there was a new development in... ⁓ MidThoughtChris: That lawsuit. Or chicken. ⁓ boy. Midthought Eric: Not that one, but there was another lawsuit. So a judge in Illinois, this is as of February 20th, 2026, a judge rejected lawsuits over Buffalo Wild Wings boneless wings. ⁓ Illinois judge rolled against a Chicago man who sued Buffalo Wild Wings, alleging that the chain's use of the term boneless wings was deceptive marketing. MidThoughtChris: Illinois, okay? B. Dubs got a box, huh? this. If there could be boneless chicken wings in there, then it's deceptive. Midthought Eric: A man Halim filed a lawsuit against Buffalo Wild Wings in March 2023, challenging what he called a false interceptor marketing and advertising of bonus wings that actually were not wings. The suit alleged the product's name misleads customers into thinking that they are made of D bone chicken wing meat rather than fried chicken breast meat. Mm hmm. Mm hmm. MidThoughtChris: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Midthought Eric: He claims that he unknowingly purchased a serving of buffalo wings and would not have otherwise done so had he known they weren't actually wing meat. MidThoughtChris: This is so stupid. Midthought Eric: Did you hear about this? This is Buffalo Wild Wings. So the suit was back in 2023 and I vaguely remember this because it was all over the news and then like in 24, like 24 it kind of died out a little bit and then so like the Supreme Court judge or whatever in Illinois finally made like a final ruling on it. But the funny thing, the funny thing is that Buffalo Wild Wings is MidThoughtChris: Ha ha ha! Goodness. Midthought Eric: Trolling in here and they're saying it is true our buffalo wings are all white meat chicken and our hamburgers contain no ham ⁓ MidThoughtChris: I kind of hate buffalo. I kind of hate well, buffalo wild wings now. ⁓ geez. Yeah, but they probably your bonus wings probably shouldn't have bones in it, you dumb dumbs. Midthought Eric: Our buffalo wings are 0 % buffalo meat. No Buffalo Meat. MidThoughtChris: Is that what that that's what it is, right? They're doing the boneless wings again like he's he got like a bone stuck in whatever. I don't know why that's great. Like I don't know why that screen isn't working. You can unshare that I guess. ⁓ then great. ⁓ That's great. Well, let the viewers decide. It sounds great. Midthought Eric: It looks like it's working on my end. We'll let the viewers decide if this You guys let us know whether it's a sharing or not MidThoughtChris: You let us know. I'm sure I'll be able to tell after this is uploaded, but. Midthought Eric: Here's the last sentence here says, despite his best efforts, Mr. Halim did not drum up enough factual allegations to state a claim. MidThoughtChris: Ugh, now they're making fun of it. Midthought Eric: Get it. Yeah, you can't make fun of chicken wings. That's blasphemy. MidThoughtChris: ⁓ I get it. There's a blast for me. I know what you're saying, but it says boneless in the actual name. Like that's kind of weird, right? Midthought Eric: doing that. Yeah, wings, chicken wings. It doesn't say boneless chicken meat. MidThoughtChris: Right. We all know that it's not actual chicken wing meat, right? But we do assume that when you're we we do assume that when you say boneless, we're not going to come across some flipping, you know, ⁓ wing bone in there, right? Like you're not. Midthought Eric: While we do now, initially, Yeah. Well, that was a separate ⁓ issue. MidThoughtChris: separate issue. you just go British on me? He's British royalty. Is that in your background too? I found out you were a shrink a few weeks ago and now are you like royalty as well? Have you been hanging? Have you been? Midthought Eric: Issue. Yes. I'm glad you got that. No, actually that, ⁓ so I was, ⁓ I used to make fun of the Patriot. Remember the movie, the Patriot? that that's how they talked on that. Yeah. Yeah. He's like, that's a separate issue. So yeah. it was, ⁓ Lord, Lord Cornwallis. MidThoughtChris: Yes. ⁓ the guy's like the issue. ⁓ the king, right? wasn't the general, whatever that stuffy white haired dude. Not Farquaad. Midthought Eric: Not for a quad, but similar. But so yeah, there's the chicken wings. That was good. I have a lot of news. We haven't met for a while. MidThoughtChris: This very similar. Hmm. But we haven't talked for a while. Yeah, we missed an entire what week? We missed a week. Midthought Eric: We missed a week. Yeah, well, we missed. Yeah, we did. ⁓ It was, well, ⁓ on tomorrow it would be two. No, just one week of recording. No, no, no, no. Look, look, it's been too much time. MidThoughtChris: Was it a week or two? Not, Midthought Eric: Yeah, so lots of current events. Kids are done with their sports. MidThoughtChris: Way too much time. Okay, let me have it. ⁓ because you had swimming, right? You had swimming for a while. Midthought Eric: Swimming yes, birdie birdie made the ⁓ the district's championship ⁓ So he was up there swimming in York and then ⁓ Aliyah just happened to have Her gymnastics championship moved up a week. They're supposed to be next weekend ⁓ also in York, so we were in We're in York the whole weekend not New York just the regular York MidThoughtChris: Heck yeah, buddy! Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. ⁓ Just regular York, just York, but not the new kind. Midthought Eric: Do you remember Braveheart? Remember Braveheart where he's like Wallace has sacked York Remember that that's what I keep thinking of No, there's not really much there to sack MidThoughtChris: Yes. Huh. Did he sack York, Pennsylvania? He sailed all the way across. Midthought Eric: The best part about York, Pennsylvania are the soft pretzels. MidThoughtChris: Ooh, are they better than the ones in the Hagerstown Regional Airport? Midthought Eric: They have really, well it's... Yes, and listeners, if you don't know what he's talking about, go check out our last episode, because that is a gem. MidThoughtChris: Were they cooked in a microwave? ⁓ It's a joke. Eric shows up, Eric shows up and he's like, I've got a story. ⁓ man, and I think I lost your bud. Please be here. Please still be here. Please still be here. Please still be here. I think you're still there. Midthought Eric: uh... no i mean hannover I'm here. Hi. MidThoughtChris: You're frozen! You're frozen! I'm sure it's gonna work and everything's gonna be fine, but you're frozen. Midthought Eric: Are we good? I'm here. I'm here. Hello? Check, check, check, check, check. Uh-oh. MidThoughtChris: You're still frozen. ⁓ I see you moving. OK, I see you moving. Thank God. OK, continue. He shows up and says, I have a story for you. I don't know. Standard. We are good. We need to we need to get you some. We should probably get you some lighting. I can I'll send you the link to these things if you're interested. Midthought Eric: Hi! Are we okay? What just happened? Are we good? All right, standard. I need to move the bunker. This is not a good. You don't like my lighting? What's wrong with my lighting? Do I look too dark? MidThoughtChris: You just have the over top lighting. don't have any like, no, you don't have like these fancy stuff. And then it's not a requirement, but I can. Midthought Eric: I didn't know that was a requirement. I thought my pretty face spoke for itself. MidThoughtChris: Your pretty face is all I need, I mean, I want to accentuate it a little bit more. I want to focus in on it. You'll see that like the it's like focused in on this pretty much. You don't need any help, but I need all the help I can get to make this thing look somewhat presentable. Midthought Eric: I have redskins back here, okay? All I see is your little guy behind you. MidThoughtChris: This little dude Should we should we make it a habit of showing this to the audience every single time we talk And drop no not drop a thunder I don't know if you can hear there is again You were saying you love going to York because of the pretzels is it correct Midthought Eric: Yes, and Tropic Thunder. There he is. I never said I love going to New York. Those words never came out of my mouth. MidThoughtChris: No. What's wrong with York? It's a beautiful town. Midthought Eric: I said the best part about York is the soft pretzels You know, it's that whole hand hand over Pennsylvania Dutch all that stuff Yeah, soft pretzels MidThoughtChris: I heard you love going to York because of the soft pretzels. ⁓ I know what you're saying. They've got like those like, they've got like those buildings that like pop up everywhere like, you know, Halloween party supply thing, like the you know, the Dutch markets and stuff, right? Midthought Eric: ⁓ yeah, yeah. And all the old like run out buildings like where Toys R used to be or where like, ⁓ where like ⁓ Boss Cops or something used to be and they left. That's where you have those. MidThoughtChris: Yeah. It's it's between the Pennsylvania Dutch slash Amish and ⁓ I'm probably offending eight gazillion people or the Halloween store. Like it's they fight it out to have primacy of that particular store, don't they? Midthought Eric: Mmm. Yes, I know what you're saying. Yeah, I think they do. Yeah. MidThoughtChris: You know what saying? Okay, so you love going to New York for the pretzels and then we got derailed. Midthought Eric: Yeah. MidThoughtChris: What were you saying about York? ⁓ kids. had competitions in York. Midthought Eric: Yeah, yeah, so they're done. Birdie moves on to baseball. MidThoughtChris: Nice. The baseball. Midthought Eric: the base this game of the baseball. have you seen the so current events the world baseball classic is going on right now. Did you see that at all? MidThoughtChris: ⁓ I've seen some highlights. Midthought Eric: Yeah, this is the stage where you have all the, this is, can you hear me? Hello? Woo. Test, test one, two. ⁓ This is, this, this is a stage where you have all the countries that don't belong in a baseball tournament. ⁓ MidThoughtChris: What's that buddy? Yeah, ish. I think you're in here. You're in a little bit. Right, this guy's from like... Midthought Eric: I'm looking at you Great Britain, I'm looking at you Israel, Brazil, and Australia. Yeah, they're getting smoked. All those teams are getting smoked. MidThoughtChris: Yeah ⁓ Yeah, this dude from Chile was just driving a truck and, ⁓ you know, appeared on like Dancing with the Stars and like had all these like Chile is probably, I'm not sure how they're doing in the world baseball classic, but like there's probably some other countries that would have been more funny to make that reference about. What did you say? Great Britain? You cut out. I have no idea. Midthought Eric: And a baseball? Let's give me the baseball. See you later. Hold on, is Chile even in the world? ⁓ MidThoughtChris: You made, you laughed about a country and you cut out and I couldn't hear you. Did you say Great Britain? Midthought Eric: ⁓ I said Great Britain and Israel and Brazil. MidThoughtChris: ⁓ jeez. Midthought Eric: In Australia, those are the ones I called out. And if you're from there, I love you, your baseball's not working. MidThoughtChris: Brazil didn't have a good team? Brazil's not good? I thought Brazil would be, I mean, I don't know. Midthought Eric: They are Ellen Four. MidThoughtChris: ⁓ I guess that's not good. Midthought Eric: Today they lost to Great Britain 8 to 1. That's how bad they are. MidThoughtChris: ⁓ geez, who does Great Britain have? Midthought Eric: Nobody good. MidThoughtChris: Who's their big star? Midthought Eric: Let's see. ⁓ they have jazz chism somehow as British. MidThoughtChris: I, ⁓ okay. Midthought Eric: Hehehehehe ⁓ MidThoughtChris: I'm going to reserve all commentary to myself. Goodness. For so many different reasons. ⁓ Midthought Eric: ⁓ For those of you just listening and not watching you just missed a great facial expression ⁓ That's the only person I know The rest of the team I have no idea who they are who knew jazz schism was British MidThoughtChris: What was the expression? What did I do? Huh. Midthought Eric: Never would have come for me. MidThoughtChris: Not I. ⁓ Could have fooled me. Why could it have fooled you Eric? I don't know what you're saying. Midthought Eric: I don't know. It's not very British. ⁓ Anyways, so yeah, there's that. The Olympics are over. MidThoughtChris: Hmm. Tweet. Olympics are over. We talked about that last time or the time before. can't remember. Talked about that for a little while. Midthought Eric: So I have a funny, not really funny, but I have a crazy news story that I heard. not even a news story, but I came across this factoid, if you will. MidThoughtChris: I am in. I don't know why I'm laughing already. Midthought Eric: ⁓ Yeah, so this is I don't even know why I think it showed up on my Facebook. By my book face page. ⁓ MidThoughtChris: Factoid. Hmm, it knows you. Midthought Eric: Yeah, maybe, but it's about this octopus. MidThoughtChris: ⁓ Argonauts, world's weirdest octopus. All right, I'm in. Midthought Eric: Do you see it? So let me just give you like a Cliff note version of this thing. Okay. The female version is ⁓ six inches long, not very big. MidThoughtChris: Sounds great. How big is this thing? It's pretty big. Midthought Eric: 6 inches. MidThoughtChris: Pretty big. Midthought Eric: It's an octopus. MidThoughtChris: It's pretty big. ⁓ Midthought Eric: The male is about one inch. The whole body. MidThoughtChris: You What? What? Midthought Eric: Yeah, these things are tiny. They look right here. This is the most confused game that I'm knowing. MidThoughtChris: This is confusing. Seriously. What the heck? How does never mind. Midthought Eric: where does it say? MidThoughtChris: What is dimorphic mean? Midthought Eric: So when you ⁓ think of an octopus, you think of like a giant squid type thing. But these things are only like a tiny little thumbnail. ⁓ Anyways, I heard about this or saw this. It was an article about the world's weirdest mating rituals. MidThoughtChris: What is? They have shells? Yes. That's so wild. ⁓ no. Midthought Eric: And this one was this one was number one for meeting ritual. OK. And the whole and out of all the animal species, this was the weirdest meeting ritual. OK, so you hear about that. You hear about the pretty man is right. So like. Was that she eats him apparently. Allegedly ⁓ so like they come together and then they. MidThoughtChris: Okay. Does she murder him or something? Yeah, that just gets murdered, right? Right, Allegedly. Midthought Eric: do their thing and then she eats them and he's dead, right? Sounds a lot like, sounds a lot like humans, right? ⁓ Microphone? MidThoughtChris: Hey, what microphone are you using? It certainly does. Yeah. Midthought Eric: Bye night. MidThoughtChris: It just switched. I don't know why it switched. Midthought Eric: My, no, it still says it's my USB audio device. MidThoughtChris: Huh. Huh. Just how you sound then, huh? Midthought Eric: I guess that's how I sound. MidThoughtChris: Sorry to interrupt, continue. Midthought Eric: All right, no problem. Thanks for your help. All right, so let me give you the Eric version of how these things meet, okay? And then you can, the audience can read the article and decide for themselves. All right, but ⁓ the female of course rolls the roost. So the female is like floating around and she goes up to the surface and she takes this deep breath and it creates this little air bubble. MidThoughtChris: Ha ha ha! Okay, I'm listening. Okay, okay. course. Okay. Midthought Eric: Okay. And then she ovulates or whatever. And there's like this little egg in an air bubble. All right. And then the male comes floating around. Again, this is the weirdest. Um, this is the weirdest mating ritual in the entire animal kingdom. Keep that in mind. Um, so the male, the male comes floating around and he has a third MidThoughtChris: ⁓ boy. Yep. Okay. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Midthought Eric: Well, not really a third, but he has like an extra arm type thing There's no there's no penis involved MidThoughtChris: K. Midthought Eric: Okay, he has an extra arm type thing that is kept under his eye, his eyeball. MidThoughtChris: Well, he's got like eight of them. Midthought Eric: Yeah, but this is like a special arm. Yeah, and it's under the eyeball and it has sperm in it. And whenever he's ready, he just, whenever he's ready, he just releases that thing. Okay. And once he releases that thing, he swims away and dies. MidThoughtChris: An extra, extra one. Okay. It's under the eyeball. ⁓ my gosh. What? Midthought Eric: Yeah, that's it. And then the females are floating around and they pick up the arm and I guess they like put it inside of them or something and they go off and they fertilize and they go on to live a happy life. MidThoughtChris: And the dude just dies. Midthought Eric: Yeah, he swims away and dies. Yep. So that's the, she, yeah, there's just an arm floating around and she grabs it and just does whatever. And that's how they procreate. They never get together or anything. Isn't that weird? MidThoughtChris: Huh. And then she grabs the arm from him. Huh? The Argonaut. Go read about it. You learn something new every single day, especially when you tune in here. Midthought Eric: So that reminds me of a joke I heard. MidThoughtChris: ⁓ boy. Tell me more. Midthought Eric: So we need to have a section that's like, we need music like, be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be-be- MidThoughtChris: Sounds good. I'll see what I can find. Right now, how much is clapping? Midthought Eric: All right, so did I tell you my Adam and Eve joke? MidThoughtChris: ⁓ tell me. Midthought Eric: Adam, it had scriptural. This joke is scriptural. MidThoughtChris: Okay, okay. I'm listening. Of course it is. Midthought Eric: Just like coffee, you know coffee's scriptural, right? Coffee is. Right, there's a whole book in it, a whole book in the Bible, Hebrews. MidThoughtChris: I love dad jokes. Continue. Midthought Eric: ⁓ So Adam is ⁓ the beginning creation. Adam's walking the earth with God. And they're talking to one another and God is like, hey Adam, how's it going? And Adam's like, it's really good. He's like, I have all these animals and stuff and the garden, everything's pretty. God's like, can you, what else do you want? Like, is there anything else you want? And Adam's like, well, I'm kind of lonely, you know? ⁓ MidThoughtChris: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Right. Midthought Eric: I would really appreciate the companion. God says, well, what kind of companion do you want? And Adam just describes, I mean, he's just shooting for the stars, right? Adam is given a wish list. ⁓ He's given basically like a model, right? Like imagine Victoria's Secret, whatever, okay? Use your imagination, okay? MidThoughtChris: Yeah, who wouldn't? Yes. Midthought Eric: Use your imagination to determine what Adam asked God for, for a woman. Okay. Traits, body types, measurements. Okay. Anyways, God says, ⁓ Adam, that's, ⁓ I can do that, but that's, that's, that's pretty, that's a pretty tall order. mean, that's, that's going to cost you. MidThoughtChris: or don't. Mm hmm. Okay. Yeah. I know what you're saying. Thanks. Midthought Eric: And Adam says, what's it going to cost me? And God says, it's going to cost you an arm and a leg at least. And Adam says, well, I don't know if I can do without that. Tell you what, what can I get for a rib? MidThoughtChris: Ha ha ha ha ha And that's it. And that's the joke. That's the joke. The conniving witch is going to backstab you. There it is. Midthought Eric: That's it. Creation. That's it. That's how creation work. That's what we get for a rib. Now listen, all the females, if you're mad, come on, it's just a funny joke. MidThoughtChris: It's just a funny joke. He didn't mean anything by it. It's all good fun. Showtime with Eric. Midthought Eric: It's all in fine. It's joke time with Eric. Did you hear about this one? Hold on. Let's see if I can share my screen. There it is. Can you see that? MidThoughtChris: ⁓ boy. We got another one. another one. tell you in a second. Wanted a man has been just stealing wheels off of police cars. Police are working tirelessly to catch him. For the audio listeners, this is a police car on blocks, ⁓ which refers to the fact that it doesn't have any tires. And the caption says wanted a man has been stealing wheels off of police cars. Police are working tirelessly. ⁓ fun to catch him. That was great. I love that. I love that. Midthought Eric: Mm-hmm. Yeah. All right. Now, I mean, we were just talking about like, you know, we were talking about weather and stuff the other day and like, it's getting warm now, right? MidThoughtChris: Hmm. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know what you're saying. Midthought Eric: And I do like, I like the seasons, I like cold weather. I really do like cold weather, but only to a certain degree. MidThoughtChris: Huh. certain degree. Is that need another one? No, think I think it one or two an episode. That is great. Only to a certain degree. And joke time with Eric is now over. Midthought Eric: Okay, we're done. Joke Time with Eric is now over. MidThoughtChris: And we've already had a little bit of news and some nonsense and I don't know deep. Midthought Eric: Well, I don't know if the arm-detaching squid was news. MidThoughtChris: I don't... it's a... what did you call it? An anecdote? You smart person, you. Midthought Eric: No, I didn't call it an anecdote. Isn't an anecdote like something that you like, like when you're sick, you give somebody an anecdote to a virus? MidThoughtChris: What'd you call it? No, you said it was a... ⁓ That is called an antidote. And you said a funny. ⁓ The word you use was a funny ⁓ anecdote. Didn't you say the word anecdote? Did you say anecdote? What did you actually say? I can't remember now. Midthought Eric: ⁓ Potato, potato. I don't remember saying that, it's highly possible. Rewind the tape. Hey, producer Mike. Producer Mike, did I say a He says now. MidThoughtChris: It sounds like Eric. Producer Mike rewind that tape. He says no. looking at? He's not that way. Midthought Eric: He says no. No, he's over there. He's out the window. To the wall. MidThoughtChris: Mmm. He's out the window. Turn from the window. ⁓ Midthought Eric: We're not doing that. This is a family friendly... MidThoughtChris: We're not doing that. Where's that sweat? This is a family friendly show. Where did that window? Where did that? Where did that sweat go? That's all I'm going to say. That's it. That's it. Midthought Eric: Poor Britney Spears got arrested again. MidThoughtChris: What happened to her? Midthought Eric: Yeah. So I don't know, I saw like multiple stories, but the last one I saw, she, she led a police chase for like a long time. MidThoughtChris: Did she go OJ on us? Midthought Eric: Yeah, but there wasn't as much fanfare and then her official crime was DUI and drugs or something. But anyways, maybe she just went crazy again. MidThoughtChris: in. Does she have a shaved head this time? Midthought Eric: No, her hair was there. you know she was, Britney Spears was married to that one guy for like 36 hours? No, before him, there was somebody, she was at, she actually had kids with him. MidThoughtChris: Her hair is there. Kevin Federline, I remember. I don't know what. Midthought Eric: Yeah, she had kids with Federline. KFed. KFed. It's KFed. She had kids with KFed. But there was the one before him. They were married for like 36 hours. Can you imagine? Like, oh, no, I changed my mind. Never mind. We're not doing that. MidThoughtChris: I Federline was the one that she was only married. Huh. Sorry, I messed that up. calm. Amen. How long how long was the guy on? Was it the hangover? How long was he married to Heather Graham? Midthought Eric: Oh, stew. Classic stew. Like a day and a half. MidThoughtChris: How long was he married to Heather Graham? Like a day and a half. I mean, that might have the record. Midthought Eric: I don't know. They had Carlos, the baby Carlos. MidThoughtChris: Such a classic. Midthought Eric: Do you remember Do you remember when Stu Stu woke up and he went back to the locker room where he met the person he Was with the night before What a surprise that was MidThoughtChris: Hmm ⁓ yes, it just clicked. It's like, wait, what? it always goes back there. Midthought Eric: It was beautiful You loved it I loved it we were a match made in heaven It always goes back to the hangover I feel like we have that in every episode hangover South Park American treasures or the office 50 dar Yep every time MidThoughtChris: Every episode. Yes. 50 dollar. So so great. Midthought Eric: What kind of news do you have today, Chris? I feel like I stole your thunder. MidThoughtChris: ⁓ that is very important. You didn't steal any thunder. ⁓ Midthought Eric: Is it better than a squid who rips his arm off and dies? MidThoughtChris: Most certainly not. Most certainly not. I had one of two things and I think I'm going to go this other route. Midthought Eric: I mean, would you really rip your arm off and give it to Leanne? MidThoughtChris: I mean, what would be, ⁓ what would be the reason? Midthought Eric: Just a mate. MidThoughtChris: Just to me. I don't know. ⁓ goodness. I'm out. I punched out. I'm out. This is over. ⁓ Here's another. It's actually a great question. ⁓ Midthought Eric: Here we go! It's floating around, do what you want with it. Alright, sorry. Proceed. MidThoughtChris: Going back to what would you do for your spouse slash the success of your family? Eric question for you. What? What would you do for a barrel of ale? Midthought Eric: Mmm. Yes, Mid-Tot Chris. MidThoughtChris: What would you do if the prize was a barrel of ale? Midthought Eric: I don't even know how much ale costs. maybe how about like a barrel of bourbon? MidThoughtChris: Barrel of Barrens, sure. I mean, it's your story. I mean, or it's your world. Yeah, I mean, this doesn't, as you know, this doesn't really have anything to do with shame necessarily. It's more having... Midthought Eric: I would do a lot of stuff. I mean, I don't have much shame. As you know, I don't have much shame. What would I do for just nothing? Get them! A shame, much shame upon your family. MidThoughtChris: It's more, hey, what type of training would you go through for ⁓ the sake of winning a barrel of ale? So this is a story. ⁓ What's that? Midthought Eric: ⁓ I would do that. I would do that. MidThoughtChris: ⁓ Title here from ⁓ Associated Press. ⁓ The Finnish pair wins a barrel of ale in an annual wife carrying contest in England. ⁓ I'm not sure who has the raw deal in this particular situation. Look where her head is located at. And I mean, when you're running as fast as you can and moving as fast as you can, like you you kind of. Midthought Eric: Finish. Definitely her. They're both wearing leggings. MidThoughtChris: Right. I love the leggings. Those those look wicked comfy. Is he I think he might just have shorts on. ⁓ Midthought Eric: Mmm, maybe. MidThoughtChris: The wife carrying race in where's that? What is that? What is that word? What is that town, Eric? What does that say? Right there. Midthought Eric: Talking. MidThoughtChris: Dorking England dorking. No, it's dorking Yeah for the audio listeners Yes, you and me both for the audio listeners I am sharing a photo right now of a dude Who looks like he is carrying his wife over his shoulders and her face is squarely in the range of his rear end Which is why I said, I'm not sure who Midthought Eric: dorking. That's where I should live. his buttocks. MidThoughtChris: Really has the raw deal in this particular case ⁓ But yeah, so it looks like they this finished pair wins a battle a barrel of ale in annual wife carrying contest To have it to hold to got a new meaning for about two dozen couples who put their relationships to the test on a grassy hill in southern England Wives and girlfriends clung on for dear life as their partners carried them up and down a hillside for the UK wife carrying race one of the country's quirkiest annual sports events Midthought Eric: Who doesn't? MidThoughtChris: On Sunday, Timu Tuvanen and Jatta Leonen from Finland were crowned the winners at one minute and 45 seconds. They must not have had to go that far. They must not have had to go that far. I don't know. Their prize, a barrel of local ale. I mean, that's a pretty solid prize. ⁓ Awkward foot race and Midthought Eric: How far did they go? How far did they go? MidThoughtChris: Dorking Suri is said to be inspired by a 19th century Finnish legend about a gang that pillages villages and steals the women. That got better. Midthought Eric: Dorking. Oh dear. We didn't ruin the mood. You just come with me. Hold still. We'll be there soon. MidThoughtChris: Steals the win. You're mine now. These days the emphasis is on light-hearted fun. Silly costumes are encouraged. The racers can be males or females carrying anyone over 18 key and weighing at least 50 kilograms or 110 pounds. Those under that weight need to wear a rucksack filled with flour or water to bring them to the minimum weight. Midthought Eric: That key. ⁓ geez. Rucksack. I'm too light. Put on a rucksack. MidThoughtChris: ⁓ my gosh, listen to this. You don't have to carry your own wife. It could be somebody else's or a mate, girlfriend, boyfriend, sister or brother, organizers said. They should ideally weigh less than you do. ⁓ Midthought Eric: What if you're just still in the whole village? MidThoughtChris: I just steal somebody else. I don't know how like. You're with me now like. Good day to you. That's it. I don't think that would go over too well if you're like if you say to whoever you're with that you're like hey, I could carry you, but I'm going to pick that person over there like this. Midthought Eric: You come with me! I said good day. That's crazy. because they're 50 pounds lighter than you. Oh, 110 pounds? All right, that one. MidThoughtChris: It's never gonna go well. I think that's up there with like that one. It goes back to the historical premise of like just putting a random person on your shoulders and running down a hill. You're with me now. We're about to win some ale. Anyway, that's my nonsense. Yeah. Midthought Eric: Yeah. Yeah. That's crazy. That's good. That's good. MidThoughtChris: That is my nonsense my friend. What up? Midthought Eric: ⁓ So in high school, what kind of sports did you play in high school? MidThoughtChris: baseball. Midthought Eric: the baseball they gave me the baseball so I was a I was a wrestler I used to wrestle MidThoughtChris: The baseball I was not very good. I was a I was a pitcher We talked about your singlets I Wish I still need to see pictures. Can we how much okay? How much would the audience need to rate? I'd need to raise in order to how much money would the Oz is Need to raise already see pictures of Eric and a singlet What's your Midthought Eric: Yes, ⁓ I still have, I think. Raise! Now or in high school? because I have footage. MidThoughtChris: Give me both. Give me scenarios of both. Give me like one now and then give me a dollar amount for one of you in high school. Midthought Eric: Well, in high school they should pay a pretty penny because I was Jack. MidThoughtChris: Pretty penny. Okay, so what's your dollar amount? We get a certain amount in that buy me coffee account and what's that amount? Midthought Eric: in high school ⁓ per are we talking about still shots or are talking about live footage? MidThoughtChris: Yeah, what's that dollar amount? You have live footage of you in a singlet. Midthought Eric: Actually, you know what? It's still on VHS. I should probably get that over to a DVD. MidThoughtChris: You should probably get that DVD. You should probably digital. USB. OK, what is your dollar amount? How much? How much would have to get raised in order for you to figure out some way to put that out ⁓ to our supporters? Midthought Eric: USB. I still have VHS tapes. Who, dear? I don't know. put me in a spot Chris. MidThoughtChris: I think we've already established how much that would be. Midthought Eric: What? MidThoughtChris: We say it all the time. We say it all the time. Midthought Eric: Worldwide platinum. MidThoughtChris: We say it all the time. It's $50. Come on. ⁓ Midthought Eric: $50? $50 per shot. MidThoughtChris: So. Is it okay? it 50 per picture or 50 per video? Did you? Per picture or per video? I don't know. I don't see. I haven't seen the video. Midthought Eric: Fifty dollar! How long is the video? What are we talking about? But it's literally on VHS. It's still on VHS. MidThoughtChris: Eric and a singlet. Do think you could get that moved over? Midthought Eric: Yeah, I could for a fee. MidThoughtChris: Yeah. Okay. For a fee. Is it 50? I think it's got to be 50 bucks. Midthought Eric: I mean, I could put one on right now, but that's going to go for a high price. MidThoughtChris: At high price. What do you, what do you, what, do you have a video app? You still have a video that's not a VHS? Midthought Eric: I think I still have them. No. MidThoughtChris: No, it's all on VHS. Okay. Midthought Eric: No. Yeah. the technology wasn't quite there yet. MidThoughtChris: Either way, either way, Eric provides a video of him in a singlet for 50 bucks after our audience raises and puts $50 in that buy me a coffee account. Midthought Eric: 50 dollar! Yes, our audience. MidThoughtChris: our audience. Courtney's like, just let it be over with. Eric's like, wait, what did we just spend $50 on? Anyway, ⁓ so Eric. Midthought Eric: Yeah Please stop. Now I gotta find it. Yeah, it's out there somewhere MidThoughtChris: Or, I mean, do you have stills? Do you have still photos? Midthought Eric: I... So I know... I know I have photos of me in college. MidThoughtChris: This is very important in a singlet. Midthought Eric: But in high school, yes, but in high school, think it was all a one year division three. Wasn't nobody. MidThoughtChris: You wrestled in college? ⁓ my goodness, you're famous. Were you jacked in college too? Midthought Eric: I was, I was very fit. MidThoughtChris: Do you have any video of you in a singlet? No. Midthought Eric: You mean now like in this body? MidThoughtChris: No. Do you have video currently that you wouldn't need to transfer over? Midthought Eric: No. No. MidThoughtChris: I heard a no. So, but we have pictures. We have pictures though. Okay. Do you think the pictures are worth $50? Midthought Eric: No. Negatorial. I have some pictures. I think so, but that's up to the people to decide. MidThoughtChris: Okay. So is it $50 for the stills and then like $100 for the video? Midthought Eric: Well, the videos, they don't exist yet. I mean, they exist on the HS0. MidThoughtChris: So we'd have to do some we'd have to do some legwork. So that might be why don't we why don't we say fifty dollars for the stills? Midthought Eric: What does this a GoFundMe? MidThoughtChris: 50 dollars for the stills This is borderline This is Midthought Eric: We are so desperate, I'm selling myself on a singlet. MidThoughtChris: Gotta pay for this Riverside account, dang it. I'm tired. No sponsors, our pets' heads are falling off. bleeding money here. Eric Scott, no lights. No lights. I took all the light budget, apparently. Midthought Eric: We don't have any sponsors. Come on, Hard AF, I'm wearing your shirt. Clyde is running into all this stuff. No lights. Just old Redskins portraits. ⁓ You ⁓ MidThoughtChris: It's funny. All right, fifty dollars. Eric and a singlet. Buy me a coffee. I'll put that link on this episode. Midthought Eric: Alright $50 per per view. So see if. MidThoughtChris: New websites called only singlets No, it's only singlets we don't want to take away for it we're not yes, I Wanted not affiliated that's not doing that. ⁓ I took a turn. ⁓ Midthought Eric: It's like. Only fans in singlets. Only singlets. Yes. We are not affiliated with Billy fans. Not doing that. ⁓ It will be a pay per view. MidThoughtChris: I get it! ⁓ man. ⁓ that was great. Midthought Eric: You pay, you get the view. That was fun. Yeah, they're the wrestling pictures. MidThoughtChris: The wrestling pictures. Midthought Eric: You're going to be amazed by what you see. MidThoughtChris: You'd be amazed by what you see. Midthought Eric: You're gonna look at that, you're gonna look at this here, me, and you'll be like, what? That's not the same person. That's not the same person. Is that Arnold Schwarzenegger? MidThoughtChris: What happened? That's not the same guy. Who is that? Who is that? Did you eat that guy? ⁓ Mine would be the same. You'd say the same. Midthought Eric: And it happens to the best of us. MidThoughtChris: It does. Anyway. All right, man. Well, that is I think so. We got some nonsense. got we got Eric selling himself to try and pay for our Riverside account. Don't be that. Don't chop off your arm. Hand over your procreation material. Midthought Eric: Alright, did we get enough news today? We got some news, we got some jokes. Go be an arugula. Don't I was gonna say go be an agronaut, but don't be an agronaut you It is the craziest thing. MidThoughtChris: That is that is some wild stuff. I'm excited to put together a thumbnail for that Midthought Eric: Okay. MidThoughtChris: I mean, I'm excited to have producer Mike put together a thumbnail for that. Midthought Eric: Producer Mike's pretty busy. MidThoughtChris: He is pretty busy. He's traveling a lot. He's working hard. He's doing a lot. Alright Eric, I don't know about you, I think that's all the brain cells I've got. How about you? Midthought Eric: Yeah, ⁓ definitely. Same bro, same. MidThoughtChris: All right. ⁓ I think I've got a new sign off. Not only are we going to do the brain cell thing still, but I think it's so long. It's so long little dubs. Midthought Eric: Ooh. So long, hey that's like Hey You Cats and Kittens, remember that? Who was that? The Tiger Movie from Netflix. Remember the tiger thing with Joe, not Joe Dirt. Yes, Joe Exotic. MidThoughtChris: Who was that? I don't know. I don't know if I've seen it. Exotic? I never saw, I was away during all that, do remember? Midthought Eric: Yeah, that was COVID. MidThoughtChris: You were writing me love letters on your typewriter during that time. Midthought Eric: Yes, yes, and Courtney and I were watching Joe Exotic streaming it. Yeah. MidThoughtChris: I did not see that. I was locked away in a other place. Midthought Eric: Anyways, their opener was, all you cats and kittens. So we can. MidThoughtChris: No, I'm not saying that, but I am going to say, I'm going to say, so long, sleep well, little doves. I think that's the sign off. That's the new sign off. I think that's it. Midthought Eric: No cats. So long, sleep well little doves. We have lots of little doves. Fly away. Go get that little tree bark. Come back to the ark. MidThoughtChris: fly away little dubs. So that's all the brain cells we've got. So long little dubs. Sleep well. Is it so long or sleep well? Midthought Eric: Sleep well, and sleep well. MidThoughtChris: It's sleep well. think it is sleep well. All right. That's all the brain cells we've got. Sleep well, little doves. Have a great week. Midthought Eric: Sleep well, little dev. Peace.
