- 0:02Speaker 1: This is a bramble Jam podcast.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast. I'm
- 0:25Speaker 2: Megan and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan.
- 0:27Speaker 1: I'm Wendy. I'm a former Hallmark hater.
- 0:30Speaker 2: It's time for a listener mailbag featuring your emails and
- 0:33Speaker 2: voice memos on all things Hallmark. But before that, just
- 0:37Speaker 2: a reminder. If you want to participate in a future
- 0:40Speaker 2: listener mailbag, the best way to do that is by
- 0:42Speaker 2: emailing us we are Girls Gone Hallmark at gmail dot com.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Or you can send a voice memo. You're gonna hear
- 0:48Speaker 2: one in just a minute, and you can do that
- 0:50Speaker 2: by calling nine four nine three two nine eight zero
- 0:55Speaker 2: nine zero and leaving us a message. Let's just hop
- 0:59Speaker 2: right in with our first voice memo from listener Don
- 1:04Speaker 2: Are you ready?
- 1:04Speaker 3: I am Hi? This is Don Barris.
- 1:08Speaker 4: I am a longtime listener but first time caller. I
- 1:12Speaker 4: was listening to your recap today of Missiletoe Murders and
- 1:14Speaker 4: I do have to agree that so far this season
- 1:17Speaker 4: is by far better than last season, and I thought
- 1:19Speaker 4: that would be hard to top. Overall, if Hallmark is
- 1:23Speaker 4: looking to gain new viewers, especially in those younger demographics,
- 1:26Speaker 4: I think this season has proved to be a real winner.
- 1:31Speaker 4: Even my niece, my fourteen year old niece, has decided
- 1:33Speaker 4: to start tuning in.
- 1:34Speaker 3: She's watched the Missiletoe Murders and actually sat through Ted
- 1:37Speaker 3: Cooper twice. We've made it a tradition to kind of
- 1:40Speaker 3: watch the different shows, and I think the quality of
- 1:42Speaker 3: the shows has gotten much better now that there's fewer
- 1:45Speaker 3: movies and it's a lot easier for us to keep
- 1:48Speaker 3: up with. So I've been really pleased so far with
- 1:50Speaker 3: everything that the Hallmark has offered for the Christmas season,
- 1:53Speaker 3: and my whole household is now watching instead of just
- 1:56Speaker 3: me with them kind of popping in every now and
- 1:58Speaker 3: then talk to y'all later.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Bye. What do you think? Let's talk Mistletoe Murders first.
- 2:03Speaker 2: I agree that this season is really good. I also
- 2:09Speaker 2: think it's so smart of them too, Like Don says, like,
- 2:12Speaker 2: if they want to reach a wider demographic, I think
- 2:14Speaker 2: it's so smart for Mistletoe Murders to feature a teenager.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Hmmm.
- 2:20Speaker 2: I think that's one of the best ways you're going
- 2:22Speaker 2: to get a younger demographic if you're looking to add
- 2:24Speaker 2: teenagers to your watching audience, Like the way home right
- 2:30Speaker 2: there exactly. They're younger stars do a ton of social
- 2:34Speaker 2: media content, yeah, ton, which I love, Like, that's where
- 2:37Speaker 2: the people are. They're posting tiktoks constantly and then posting
- 2:40Speaker 2: on Instagram as well. So yeah, you want to get
- 2:43Speaker 2: the people, You want to find the people where they are. Yeah,
- 2:46Speaker 2: it's smart, it's smart, and it's a really good, great show.
- 2:51Speaker 2: I wish there were more episodes. I'm going to talk
- 2:53Speaker 2: about it in our review of episodes three and four.
- 2:59Speaker 2: It is I agree with you. I agree. I would
- 3:01Speaker 2: love to get into that. That'll come out next week
- 3:02Speaker 2: for the listeners, but we will be talking about that.
- 3:06Speaker 2: A friend recently asked, She was like, should I start
- 3:09Speaker 2: Missilestalme Murders. Is it as good as you guys are
- 3:10Speaker 2: saying it is. I'm like, yeah, I think you'd actually
- 3:12Speaker 2: really like it. I'm out. I'm hurt that a listener
- 3:16Speaker 2: or a friend is asking if something is as good
- 3:21Speaker 2: as we say it is. Well, this person isn't a
- 3:23Speaker 2: Hallmark watcher, so I think they're like, if I'm not
- 3:27Speaker 2: in on all things Hallmark, would I like it? Okay?
- 3:31Speaker 1: And I think the answer is yes.
- 3:32Speaker 2: I think so too. She's also watching Finding Mister Christmas
- 3:35Speaker 2: and enjoying it and messaging me each week with her thoughts.
- 3:39Speaker 2: But season one of Mistleto Murders is on Amazon Prime.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Because she doesn't have Hallmark Plus. She's like, where can
- 3:45Speaker 2: I get episode one? So I found it. I didn't.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Did we know that it was on Amazon Prime? I
- 3:48Speaker 2: don't know, but I looked and it is there. So
- 3:52Speaker 2: if you want season one and you don't have Homemark Plus.
- 3:55Speaker 2: As a reminder, you can get Hollmark Plus for free
- 3:58Speaker 2: if you want to binge a season, live that by
- 4:00Speaker 2: using your library card and the Hoopla digital app. But
- 4:05Speaker 2: I want to talk really briefly about the number of
- 4:08Speaker 2: movies we have this year. I absolutely do not feel
- 4:13Speaker 2: like we're missing out by not having forty plus movies.
- 4:19Speaker 2: For me, there's plenty of holiday content, and I, as
- 4:24Speaker 2: someone who's consuming all of the Hallmark content, kind of
- 4:26Speaker 2: like that we have a little bit of an opportunity
- 4:29Speaker 2: to catch the Netflix content, Like there's a little bit
- 4:31Speaker 2: of room in my schedule. I can watch our favorite
- 4:35Speaker 2: holiday movies as well. I imagine we might ramp back
- 4:39Speaker 2: up to a bigger catalog next year. Yeah, I think so,
- 4:42Speaker 2: but maybe not. Maybe not with the series. I think
- 4:46Speaker 2: Mistletoe Murders is doing well.
- 4:48Speaker 1: I don't.
- 4:49Speaker 2: I'm curious to see how twelve Dates Till Christmas does.
- 4:54Speaker 2: But I'm not at all bothered by the number of
- 4:57Speaker 2: movies we have this year. I'm trying to figure out
- 5:02Speaker 2: considering the number of hours I spent over the last
- 5:05Speaker 2: two days consuming Homewark Entertainment and prepping for a podcasts right,
- 5:10Speaker 2: I don't think it would be possible if there was
- 5:13Speaker 2: a forty plus slate this year. No, it wouldn't be possible.
- 5:17Speaker 2: So I think it's I think it's plenty. And you know,
- 5:20Speaker 2: we've been talking for years and years about quality over quantity.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Do you think we're getting quality movies. I've been very
- 5:30Speaker 2: pleased by the quality of the movies we've seen this year.
- 5:33Speaker 2: I don't I can't really explain it, but I feel
- 5:37Speaker 2: like a proud parent about the success of The Keller
- 5:40Speaker 2: Christmas Vacation. For some reason, I think it was kind
- 5:43Speaker 2: of an unexpected success.
- 5:45Speaker 1: It wasn't one of the.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Movies that I think people were like, Oh, I'm waiting
- 5:49Speaker 2: for the new Russell Hanlin, I'm waiting for the new
- 5:51Speaker 2: Three Wiser Men. I'm right for me. It kind of
- 5:55Speaker 2: surprised me how much I liked it and the fan reaction.
- 5:57Speaker 2: And I've seen people share their ranking of the movie
- 6:00Speaker 2: so far, and they're putting it at one in two.
- 6:02Speaker 2: I know, I know, which I'm so happy about. Because
- 6:05Speaker 2: we recorded our review before anybody had seen that movie,
- 6:08Speaker 2: and so I had no idea how it was going
- 6:10Speaker 2: to be received. Right well, it has been I think
- 6:15Speaker 2: mostly well received. I do see the comment here and
- 6:17Speaker 2: there about people who didn't like it, and I think,
- 6:20Speaker 2: frankly they're wrong. We got an email from Christa who says,
- 6:26Speaker 2: as I was reading through one of my favorite blogs,
- 6:29Speaker 2: I saw this picture that the author took of a
- 6:32Speaker 2: creamer she bought at Trader Joe's. It immediately made me think,
- 6:35Speaker 2: of you, Maybe you already know about this, but if not,
- 6:38Speaker 2: maybe you can try and enjoy it. So we were
- 6:41Speaker 2: recently talking about and how much I love an oat
- 6:44Speaker 2: milk latte as featured in a Newport Christmas and she
- 6:49Speaker 2: sent a picture of a Trader Joe's non dairy oat
- 6:52Speaker 2: creamer and gingerbread flavor. Now that does sound delicious. I
- 6:57Speaker 2: wonder if it's a little sweet and little spicy. I
- 7:00Speaker 2: love a gingerbread latte. In fact, I had one this morning,
- 7:04Speaker 2: and I have purchased this in the past, and I
- 7:06Speaker 2: will be repurchasing it. I like the Trader Joe's oat
- 7:10Speaker 2: creamers a lot, and they're not too overly sweet. Did
- 7:13Speaker 2: you get a gingerbread latte from Starbucks? I did. I
- 7:16Speaker 2: thought they stopped making though they did and they brought
- 7:18Speaker 2: it back. Oh, like this year or has it been
- 7:21Speaker 2: brought Has it been brought in? Well, last year they
- 7:24Speaker 2: had the gingerbread chi and so I think you could
- 7:28Speaker 2: order I don't know if it was on a gingerbread
- 7:29Speaker 2: latte was on their menu, but this year it's in
- 7:31Speaker 2: the app, like gingerbread latte is in the app. Fun fact,
- 7:36Speaker 2: it doesn't show up on their like here's our holiday
- 7:39Speaker 2: lineup of drinks. I never saw it on any of
- 7:42Speaker 2: those images, but then I went in the app and
- 7:43Speaker 2: it's right there. So yes, you can get a gingerbread
- 7:46Speaker 2: latte at Starbucks this year.
- 7:48Speaker 1: I gotta tell you.
- 7:48Speaker 2: I went last week when they dropped the the Christmas drinks,
- 7:53Speaker 2: the holiday drinks, and I got a sugar cookie something
- 7:55Speaker 2: or other.
- 7:57Speaker 1: It's gross.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not actually the biggest fan of most of
- 8:01Speaker 2: their holiday drinks. But I love the gingerbread, but I
- 8:03Speaker 2: was reminded once again today that I need to order
- 8:05Speaker 2: it half as sweet as it comes. Oh yeah, yeah,
- 8:08Speaker 2: that was probably the problem with the sugar cookie latte
- 8:10Speaker 2: that I got. It was too sweet. Yeah, I'm a
- 8:14Speaker 2: little bit of a princess. My daughter was mobile ordering
- 8:16Speaker 2: for me and I was like, Okay, I need you
- 8:18Speaker 2: to change the cup size, and I need you to.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Add extra eyes.
- 8:20Speaker 2: And I need to because they make their lattes with
- 8:23Speaker 2: hot espresso. Oh, and then it melts the ice and
- 8:26Speaker 2: then I like a lot of ice in my drink,
- 8:28Speaker 2: So I order a larger cup with extra ice. Got it,
- 8:32Speaker 2: That's my trick. Next up, we have an email from
- 8:43Speaker 2: Tracy on what Scott Speedman from Felicity is up to you,
- 8:46Speaker 2: and I cannot for the life of me. I know
- 8:47Speaker 2: we recently talked about Team ben versus Team nol Oh
- 8:51Speaker 2: was it on Patreon?
- 8:53Speaker 3: No?
- 8:53Speaker 1: What were we talking about?
- 8:54Speaker 2: I don't remember. I don't remember.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Do you remember we had that conversation.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Yeah, we said Scott's Speedman should be in a Hallmark movie. Yeah,
- 9:02Speaker 2: but I'm talking about Felicity. I don't remember why. But
- 9:06Speaker 2: Tracy says, I love listening to your podcast. Your movie
- 9:08Speaker 2: reviews are always spot on and so much fun. You
- 9:13Speaker 2: mentioned Scott Speedman, and we're wondering what he's up to.
- 9:16Speaker 2: My daughter works in film production in Wilmington, North Carolina,
- 9:19Speaker 2: where she just started working on Scott's news series r J.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Decker.
- 9:23Speaker 2: It's going to air on ABC. She jokes that she
- 9:26Speaker 2: could work on an Academy Award winning movie, but I'd
- 9:29Speaker 2: be more impressed if she worked on a Hallmark Christmas movie.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and insight in
- 9:34Speaker 2: such a delightful way. Enjoy the holiday season. So I
- 9:36Speaker 2: guess Scott Steven is not on Cray's Anatomy anymore. He
- 9:39Speaker 2: didn't sweep Bin from Felicity go to medical school at
- 9:42Speaker 2: the very end, I think I think you did. That's nice,
- 9:44Speaker 2: So you know, it's a nice little continuity piece right there. Hey,
- 9:48Speaker 2: I have an email from Paula regarding Christmas on Duty.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Before I talk about the email, I did ask in
- 9:54Speaker 2: our Facebook group like for people to rank their movies.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Oh so far from best to worse, and Christmas on
- 10:01Speaker 2: Duty was in the bottom for many many. You know what,
- 10:06Speaker 2: I was surprised by. I saw that list, and I
- 10:10Speaker 2: think I saw some people if I'm remembering correctly, ranking
- 10:14Speaker 2: the Angel movie below Christmas on Duty.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't get it.
- 10:17Speaker 2: I like that movie, which I was surprised by. I
- 10:20Speaker 2: wonder why people didn't like it. Hey, if you didn't
- 10:23Speaker 2: like a Christmas Angel Match, is that's what it was called?
- 10:27Speaker 2: With Benjamin Ayers and Meg and Mary email us. I'm
- 10:30Speaker 2: just curious why, like what didn't work for you in
- 10:33Speaker 2: that movie? I liked that movie. Do I think it
- 10:37Speaker 2: was the best of the season so far? No, but
- 10:39Speaker 2: I thought it was super enjoyable. I agree with you.
- 10:42Speaker 2: I agree with you. This is interesting. One person ranks
- 10:46Speaker 2: Christmas on Duty above both a Christmas Angel Match and
- 10:49Speaker 2: a Royal Montana Christmas. Everybody's entitled to their opinion. Yeah,
- 10:55Speaker 2: very interesting. Pop into our Facebook group, girls, go on
- 10:57Speaker 2: Hallmark if you want to see there's everyone's rankings are here. Well,
- 11:00Speaker 2: let's hear from Paula. She writes, Remember when I told
- 11:03Speaker 2: you I was wary of Christmas on Duty? My worst
- 11:07Speaker 2: fears were realized. First of all, the plot was stupid
- 11:10Speaker 2: and the relationship between the two leads was unbelievable. Bases
- 11:14Speaker 2: have huge morale welfare and wreck departments funded by the
- 11:18Speaker 2: Navy exchange a large retail department store. They could have
- 11:22Speaker 2: done everything.
- 11:23Speaker 3: Woo.
- 11:24Speaker 2: The biggest problem, once again is how clueless Hallmark is
- 11:27Speaker 2: about the Armed Forces. Everything about it is off as usual.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Everyone is too old. Colonels are in their mid forties.
- 11:37Speaker 2: They're most likely not grandparents. Zoe is a captain. She
- 11:41Speaker 2: would not be intimidated by a retired sergeant major. She
- 11:45Speaker 2: should be his boss. There would be a mutual respect.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Getting into the infantry isn't hard. If you're a good officer,
- 11:52Speaker 2: you'll probably get to be a company commander at the
- 11:55Speaker 2: basic school. You don't brown nose to get it. Lastly,
- 11:58Speaker 2: only once did I hear one person call it the core.
- 12:00Speaker 2: That's absurd. Marines use that term constantly. The Army is
- 12:04Speaker 2: the military, The Marines are the Core and also part
- 12:08Speaker 2: of the Navy.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Paula fired Up. Paula's fired Up.
- 12:12Speaker 2: I obviously didn't know any of this, but I did
- 12:16Speaker 2: kind of assume that it wouldn't have been the job
- 12:18Speaker 2: of these two people to go make Christmas happen right right.
- 12:22Speaker 2: That was one of my biggest complaints about the movie.
- 12:24Speaker 2: You know it, It is interesting I hadn't thought about
- 12:27Speaker 2: like those who are watching this movie, like those who
- 12:30Speaker 2: are into armed forces, are they just like God, they
- 12:33Speaker 2: got this all wrong, and someone like me who doesn't
- 12:38Speaker 2: know all that information just kind of washes over me. Right, sure,
- 12:41Speaker 2: but if they were if I was watching a movie
- 12:43Speaker 2: that was like heavily about like a stay at home
- 12:46Speaker 2: mom or oh we've even talked about it, like volunteers
- 12:48Speaker 2: at school, Like we'll be like, that's not how that works,
- 12:51Speaker 2: you know. So Paula has every right to be. I
- 12:53Speaker 2: think it's like medical professionals watching medical shows, right, And
- 12:56Speaker 2: how many came out of the woodwork with the pit
- 12:57Speaker 2: saying it was the most realistic medical show they had
- 13:00Speaker 2: first seen on television. So it was fun to watch
- 13:03Speaker 2: for them because they were like, this is what it's
- 13:04Speaker 2: really like. Yeah. Well, Paula wrote a follow up email
- 13:07Speaker 2: and she says, I'm not watching Mister Christmas or the
- 13:10Speaker 2: Mystery Show since I was so the Mystery Show Mistletoe Murders.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Yeah cute. Since I was so negative on Christmas on duty,
- 13:18Speaker 2: I wanted to say the opposite about Newport Christmas. For
- 13:20Speaker 2: all it's ineptitude with the Armed Forces, they know how
- 13:23Speaker 2: to make a Christmas time travel movie. This was great.
- 13:28Speaker 2: I agree, But Paula, you should definitely be watching Finding
- 13:32Speaker 2: Mister Christmas and the mystery movie The Mystery Show Stree
- 13:36Speaker 2: Show Mistletoe Murders. I should definitely be watching it. I agree.
- 13:41Speaker 2: I agree. Those are two of my favorite things. Our
- 13:43Speaker 2: next emails from Sarah, and it's about a Newport Christmas.
- 13:46Speaker 2: She says, Hi, Megan and Wendy, I just finished a
- 13:50Speaker 2: Newport Christmas and I'm completely blown away. Two absolute hits
- 13:54Speaker 2: already this Christmas season, the first being Ted Cooper. I'm
- 13:58Speaker 2: with y'all about qual being way more important than quantity,
- 14:02Speaker 2: and I think we're getting that this season. Keith Costumes
- 14:06Speaker 2: did a stunning job both with the modern and period costumes.
- 14:09Speaker 2: I hope you can get him back on the podcast
- 14:11Speaker 2: to hear about his experience with this movie. I'd love
- 14:14Speaker 2: to know how he sourced the period costumes, the inspiration
- 14:17Speaker 2: for the modern and final gowns, and working with Jenna
- 14:21Speaker 2: Claire Mason and Wes Brown. I'd give this a nine
- 14:24Speaker 2: point five on the smootra meter. Two great kisses and
- 14:27Speaker 2: a forehead kiss. I can't wait to hear what you
- 14:30Speaker 2: have to say about this one. One part did confuse me.
- 14:33Speaker 2: When Francis is taking a tour group through the atrium,
- 14:36Speaker 2: he says that the space was an addition. It gives
- 14:38Speaker 2: herm Lord to Lady Grafton in eighteen ninety one. But
- 14:41Speaker 2: how could that be possible if they didn't meet until
- 14:43Speaker 2: nineteen oh five. I have no idea who Lord and
- 14:46Speaker 2: Lady Grafton are. They're talking about her parents. They're not
- 14:49Speaker 2: talking about Ella and rex A. See how it's possible?
- 14:55Speaker 2: All right, that makes more sense. We would love to
- 14:57Speaker 2: have Keith Costumes back on the podcast in the future.
- 15:00Speaker 2: He's a friend of the show. He is not doing
- 15:02Speaker 2: press this season, so he will not be back during
- 15:05Speaker 2: the holidays, but we won't try and talk him into
- 15:08Speaker 2: coming back sometimes. Yeah, I mean, I think if people
- 15:11Speaker 2: are interested in wanting to know to details.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Did you hear that Keith?
- 15:15Speaker 2: Elisa emails regarding our review of Snowbride. She says, I
- 15:18Speaker 2: listened to your lady's review of Snowbride today. It's one
- 15:22Speaker 2: of my favorite movies. It's so funny that you said
- 15:25Speaker 2: Jordan Belfi didn't have a lot of sex appeal or
- 15:27Speaker 2: bad boy vibes. We're both clocking our heads. I don't
- 15:29Speaker 2: remember saying that at all, but maybe we did. I
- 15:32Speaker 2: was in yki Key Beach and got on an elevator
- 15:34Speaker 2: and he and another guy were on the elevator. I
- 15:37Speaker 2: don't know who he was, but I knew he was
- 15:39Speaker 2: an actor, so I asked him and he said yes.
- 15:41Speaker 2: I asked him what I would have seen him in,
- 15:43Speaker 2: and he named off a few shows and I was like,
- 15:45Speaker 2: don't watch that, don't watch that. Then he looked at
- 15:48Speaker 2: me and said, do you watch Hallmark Christmas Movies? And
- 15:50Speaker 2: I said yes, And then I realized he was in Snowbride. However,
- 15:56Speaker 2: I have a major crush on Bobby Campbo, so I said,
- 15:59Speaker 2: you played's brother, which I think kind of insulted him.
- 16:03Speaker 2: He said, I was the lead, I got the girl.
- 16:06Speaker 2: And I said yes, yes, And he was great and
- 16:07Speaker 2: sucked up to him and made him feel better. He said,
- 16:10Speaker 2: Katrina lat is wonderful to work with, an even more
- 16:12Speaker 2: beautiful in person. In fact, he was there filming a show.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Was this recent? She was recently in Waikiki Beach and
- 16:20Speaker 2: saw him there and he was filming a show great
- 16:23Speaker 2: follow up for now like a upcoming forthcoming show. Great
- 16:28Speaker 2: questions Lisa right in. Indeed, I don't, honestly I remember
- 16:34Speaker 2: that movie. In like that movie. I don't remember Dardan
- 16:36Speaker 2: Palfy is though he's the lead, but I'm not sure
- 16:39Speaker 2: I could pick him out of a line. I remember
- 16:41Speaker 2: thinking maybe they might have like toned him down a
- 16:43Speaker 2: little bit in terms of his appeal. M M, I don't.
- 16:48Speaker 2: I don't remember, but I did like that movie a lot.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Our next emails from Mackie. She's our Facebook moderator by
- 16:54Speaker 2: the way, just all around great human being. Thank you
- 16:58Speaker 2: Mackie for all your work you do, and I love
- 17:01Speaker 2: all your emails too, she writes, Hi, Megan and Wendy.
- 17:05Speaker 2: I happened to notice on my second viewing of the
- 17:07Speaker 2: movie that Ella's company in Christmas Above the Clouds is
- 17:11Speaker 2: named Great Expectation Trips. Christmas Above the Clouds is adapted
- 17:15Speaker 2: from a Christmas carol by Charles Dickens, and Great Expectations
- 17:19Speaker 2: is another novel written by Charles Dickens. I did not
- 17:23Speaker 2: catch that there were a lot of Charles Dickens' references
- 17:27Speaker 2: throughout the movie. The Little Boy who Jake gives Math
- 17:33Speaker 2: problems to turns around one point, says Pleasa can I
- 17:35Speaker 2: have some more, which is an Oliver Twist Charles Dickens thing.
- 17:38Speaker 2: There were quite a few. My neighbor was talking about it.
- 17:42Speaker 2: He had a whole list that he had noticed from
- 17:45Speaker 2: that if you want to come on the show talk
- 17:47Speaker 2: about it, probably, he would Roberty listening. They're also watching
- 17:53Speaker 2: Mistletoe Murders and he wanted me to let Hallmark know
- 17:57Speaker 2: that the fake felt snow in Mistletoe Murders is distracted,
- 18:00Speaker 2: which honestly I have.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Not noticed, haven't even noticed at all. I haven't either.
- 18:05Speaker 2: It is filmed in the summer, though, Yeah, I've seen worse.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Oh for sure.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Our final email is from Eliza. She sent a long,
- 18:15Speaker 2: thoughtful email about the television series Event Providence Falls. I'm
- 18:20Speaker 2: just including a few snippets here. She says, I too
- 18:23Speaker 2: am taking people's negative reviews of this show personally. It's
- 18:27Speaker 2: giving me trust issues with people and their opinions, like
- 18:29Speaker 2: they don't know a good thing when they see it.
- 18:31Speaker 2: I personally loved the Angels. I thought it was comedic
- 18:34Speaker 2: to have some outdated version of Heaven. The two Angels
- 18:36Speaker 2: were amazing comedic relief and added an element of fun
- 18:39Speaker 2: to the movie that was super unique. Next up, the flashbacks.
- 18:42Speaker 2: I'm not sure why these bothered people so much. I
- 18:45Speaker 2: was blown away by how seamless, perfectly timed and truly
- 18:48Speaker 2: relevant the flashbacks were. Every one of them was necessary
- 18:52Speaker 2: to understanding the story. I liked how they used Agon's
- 18:55Speaker 2: VCR moments, Cora's dreams, and Liam's memories as ways to
- 18:59Speaker 2: go back in time to show who these two characters were,
- 19:02Speaker 2: to give context to their deep connection and love, and
- 19:05Speaker 2: to present the idea that history was repeating itself sometimes
- 19:09Speaker 2: with such a niche audience like Hallmark viewers are. I
- 19:11Speaker 2: think they get stuck in their ways and can't appreciate
- 19:13Speaker 2: anything outside of the box. It's one of my biggest
- 19:16Speaker 2: annoyances with the Hallmark fandom. Like if this was put
- 19:19Speaker 2: on Netflix as a top ten movie of the week,
- 19:21Speaker 2: I think people would have loved it so much more.
- 19:24Speaker 2: I don't think she's wrong there. I agree. I think
- 19:28Speaker 2: it would do really well on Netflix. Yeah, for sure.
- 19:32Speaker 2: What are your thoughts about the Hallmark viewers and being
- 19:34Speaker 2: stuck in their ways?
- 19:36Speaker 1: Well? I think I.
- 19:36Speaker 2: Think Providence Falls was a misstep in promotion. I think
- 19:44Speaker 2: calling it a three part special event, it's a movie
- 19:46Speaker 2: trilogy Yeah, people know what a trilogy is.
- 19:49Speaker 1: They understand that.
- 19:51Speaker 2: I don't know if it was asking too much of
- 19:53Speaker 2: the Hallmark viewer to require them to watch all three movies,
- 19:57Speaker 2: whereas when you have The Groomsmen or The Wedding Veil,
- 20:02Speaker 2: you really could watch any one of those individually and
- 20:05Speaker 2: understand it and enjoy it without the backstory. But I
- 20:10Speaker 2: would encourage the listeners. I do know that that wasn't
- 20:13Speaker 2: the biggest hit on Hallmark, but I do think it
- 20:15Speaker 2: was incredibly well made, and I think a lot of
- 20:17Speaker 2: people who watched it enjoyed it, and so I would
- 20:19Speaker 2: encourage you to go in without expectation and give it
- 20:23Speaker 2: a try, because I think it's incredibly well made, and
- 20:26Speaker 2: the storytelling is well done, and the acting is high caliber.
- 20:30Speaker 2: I agree.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Cool.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Well, if you want another listener mail bag from us,
