- 1:15Donenberg Mountain. Original air date April twenty second of nineteen forty four, nineteen
- 1:21forty five. Excuse me, The Linux Show starring Nick Carter, Master Detective,
- 1:26resented by ACME America's great producer of fine quality paints. This is the
- 1:44story of a man known the world over as one of the most daring and
- 1:48resourceful characters in the history of detective fiction. A man whose name has become
- 1:53a symbol of the triumph of right and justice over the sinister forces of crime
- 1:57and lawlessness, and recognized as one of the great masters of deduction. Nick
- 2:04Carter Master detectives today's baffling case, The Witch of Dunderberg Mountain, another exciting
- 2:23chapter dramatized from the life story off Nick Catter. In just a moment,
- 2:32we'll find how a curious old Moley coin lured Nick Carter into a strange community,
- 2:38brooded over by Dunderberg Mountain and a collection of macabre superstitions. But now
- 2:44millions of American families are happier these days because women who run their homes wisely
- 2:50have learned about kem Tone, the miracle wall finish which makes every home more
- 2:54bright than inviting. Now those same wise homemakers are learning the modern way to
- 3:00new beauty for woodwork, furniture, and floors. The three great Linax Home
- 3:04Brightness, Linux Clear Gloss to give lustrous, longer lasting protection to every wood
- 3:09and linoleum surface, LINEX Cream Polish to renew the sleek, gleaming beauty of
- 3:15fine furniture, and Linax self Polishing Wax the amazing new wax finish to lend
- 3:21Rich satiny loveliness to any floor, wood, linoleum, moretile. Take the
- 3:27modern shortcut to new home beauty with the three great Linax home brightness. You
- 3:31will find them all at your hardware, paint or department store your headquarters.
- 3:36Also for kemtone, the miracle wall finish. And now for today's exciting case
- 3:46from the life of Nick Carter. Today's thrilling adventures starts in the usual place,
- 3:53the gloomy old brownstone mansion at the corner of Fourth and Fifth. Yes,
- 3:59looking at that company below victorian mansion with its gay flowered window boxes,
- 4:02its shiny brass door knocker, and the bright and glistening windows, no one
- 4:08would ever guess that those panes are bulletproof, the doors, windows, and
- 4:13Chimney's burglar proof, and that on the top floor is probably the world's best
- 4:16equipped laboratory for the scientific study of crime. As a matter of fact,
- 4:21our master detective is at this moment closeted in his laboratory, while Patsy Bowen,
- 4:27his efficient and long suffering secretary, holds the world at Babe, his
- 4:30second story office and consulting room. Finally, the hidden door that leads to
- 4:35a secret passageway creaks open and enter. Nick Carter, get that flame thing
- 4:43mix not me. The way you gums you around without making a sound gives
- 4:47me the jumps every time I think I'm in a perfectly empty room and suddenly
- 4:51look up and see you at that olverall top desk, which you won't let
- 4:54me throw out, as if you just materialize out of thin air. It
- 4:57makes my heart do nip ups? I g yes, Patsy Grammar's a bit
- 5:00pumbediddle, but I think I get your dripped. You want me to stamp
- 5:02around a bump of the furniture like the average made. I do not tell
- 5:08me? Did you finish whatever it was you were puttering around him up on
- 5:11the laboratory, I did. I examined the shirt the man accused that the
- 5:14Pemberton murder was wearing a night Daily permitted was killed, but that shirt had
- 5:17been washed in iron here quite so. Murderer made the common mistake of believing
- 5:21that a thorough washing and boiling would eliminate traces of his crime, but not
- 5:26with the modern benzadine pas sweetart Oh took me less than three drops to reveal
- 5:30the presence of bloodstains. Mister Pemberton's blood. She needn't look so pleased.
- 5:33I'm always pleased when I've managed to wind a criminal career, and murder so
- 5:38often becomes a habit. Anything happened when I was upstairs? Anything? Everything?
- 5:43Then they are called they had a Freedom from Arabia? Call who cann't
- 5:46Riley? Call the butcher car trivia, all trivia, anything worth bothering about.
- 5:49Down in the waiting room, this is the lady Trump's pearls? What
- 5:53about them? Stolen? Can her report to insurance company? She can?
- 5:56Seems some Jigglos liked him. She doesn't want a husband to find out.
- 6:00Not interested. Oh, mister DeWitt, Hemingway's second wife is run away.
- 6:03You should have done it years ago. Not interested. Mister Roger Winthrop,
- 6:06author and lecturer, has taken a house in some Forsakens, bought up the
- 6:10river. He's writing a history of the folklore and superstitions of the Catskills.
- 6:15He wants you. I never collaborate, decides what I know about the River
- 6:17Valley superstitions and the plenty gory. He can dig out of the records for
- 6:21himself. Not interested? Would you not jump to conclusions? Nick? He
- 6:25does not want you to collaborate. His servant has been hexed. The local
- 6:28witches put a curse on him, and he's that a succession of headaches or
- 6:30corns or something. Bag. I believe it's too late. The servant,
- 6:36whose name was Jacob, died about dawn this morning, a violent and horrible
- 6:41death. His last words was something about a descent into hell Bo. Why
- 6:45didn't you say so? You wouldn't let me then, mister Winthrop, pop
- 6:48well, send him up? What are we waiting for? Take your shirt
- 6:50on, Nick? I can't have him shot out of a cannon? Whit?
- 6:54Can I click my inner office gadget? Can't you? But I ain't
- 6:58no faith? Which mister Carter was in? Mister Roger Winter? You mean
- 7:00the guy with a river glasses right the very first time we up to staves
- 7:08ready athletic for an author? Come in, mister Cotton and mister Nick Carter.
- 7:15Where is he right behind you? Mister Carter, I know Roger windor
- 7:19author. I am now engaged in collecting data for my latest novel. In
- 7:23fact, I have already has this never anything to do with your servants death?
- 7:26Why no have skipp it? Of course? But if it went for
- 7:30the novel. I never would have rented the old Brocken house and we never
- 7:32have met the old witch. You said, witch, he did you keep
- 7:35out of this Betsy? What old witch do you mean? Mister Winter?
- 7:39Who is this servan? I'm Nickcotter's secretary. And then you wents this general
- 7:42fact totem and the lady who sews the buttons on his shirt. Let's get
- 7:46back to the witch. She sounds more interesting. Thanks, of course,
- 7:49I don't actually think she is one. Still, the natives who live around
- 7:53the brock And farm are quite convinced of the fact. It seems she's placed
- 7:56to kiss on people Before this, mostly young boys who taunted Hart have fruit.
- 8:01Young William Tappan was thrown from his father's farm horse and dragged twice around
- 8:03the barn. Henry Vanderbolt fell out of an apple tree and broke his arm,
- 8:07and Johnny Upsendyke had scarlet fever and john us both at the same time.
- 8:11And to me, I've heard of accidents like that happening to kids even
- 8:15without their being he des persy. But that's not the significant part of the
- 8:18narrative. What is the boys' last name? It happened fand of work upsendyke.
- 8:22I take it, mister Winthrop. The old Brocken farm you run,
- 8:26It is in a Dutch community. It is up the river at the foot
- 8:28of the Dunderberg wild hag ridden country. Those families settled there before the Revolution
- 8:33and had married and intermarried ever since, all but the Brockens. They seem
- 8:37to have been disliked right from the beginning. Some say they aren't Dutch at
- 8:41all, but Hessians. Let you see, Brocken. Isn't that the name
- 8:46of that mountain in Germany where all the witches are supposed to gather and Wildbourg
- 8:50is not? Yes, that's why the Brockins are said to have settled where
- 8:52they did, because Old Dunderberg, the local mountain, bears a strange resemblance
- 8:56to the Brocken. I say, local Docip has it that on the eve
- 9:00of May Day, which as you know, is while Carcus not, all
- 9:03the family and their cats they've always had black cats would swoop up the chimney
- 9:07on broomsticks and fly away to Dunderberg Mountain for some sort of witch's sabbath.
- 9:11And this witch was supposed to have hext Your servant, Jacob is i gallo
- 9:15one of the famous Rockens. She's the last of them. Miss Hermina Broughton
- 9:18is an old maid and when she dies the family would be extinct and high
- 9:22time too. If you ask me now, you don't really think she's a
- 9:26witch? No, but she's a vindictive, highly neurotic, I might even
- 9:30say dangerous female. And you think she killed Jacob? I do. She
- 9:33laid a hex on him last week, made a rag doll out of those
- 9:37scarf of here she managed to steal. She named the doll Jacob, of
- 9:39course, and then began sticking pins into it. And last night, or
- 9:43rather early this morning, he died. Tell me exactly what happened. Well,
- 9:48I rented the Brocken House for the summer. It seemed to have the
- 9:50sort of weird, not to say sinnister background I needed for my novel.
- 9:54Did Miss Hermina go to the house, mister, Oh no, No,
- 9:58She and her cat moved out to a sort of fire cottage. I insisted
- 10:01on that I can't abide cats. Well, as I was saying, last
- 10:05night, I was in my study scribbling away the better part of the night.
- 10:07It was a peculiarly black night. You may remember. This is what
- 10:11is called the dark of the moon. Well, finally I became aware that
- 10:16everything was unusually quiet, and then I realized I'd worked through the entire night,
- 10:20and this was that queer, unearthly silence that comes just before the dawn.
- 10:24Suddenly I was conscious of a dull, muffled thud, a bud that
- 10:28was almost a play. What was that? Curious how strange sounds become at
- 10:37night. Sounded like the clang of a cotton lid. Better lay off work
- 10:43for tonight, winter, old boy, First thing, you know, you'll
- 10:46be imagining ghostly footsteps. Good lord, what's there? Something's coming around the
- 10:52corner of the house. That's the toolhouse door. Someone's trying to get in.
- 10:58This is ridiculous. Better go see what it is before my imagination makes
- 11:01a fool of me. I'll take the lamp. It's probably nothing at all,
- 11:07just the wind rattling the lock. But there isn't any wind tonight.
- 11:11Put yourself together, windthrop down the steps to the woodshed. Yes, something
- 11:20is moving the lock. Someone's out there, So wait till I am locked
- 11:24the door. And Jacob, what are you doing out here this time of
- 11:33night? Jacob? What's wrong with you? Here? Go right go straight
- 11:41o, good lord, he's having confunctions. Jacob, Jacob. And what
- 12:03happened then, mister wendor Jacob died right there in my arms. It was
- 12:07horrible as the death rifle left his throat, his right hand relaxed, and
- 12:11something rolled to the floor with a metallic clink. I picked it up and
- 12:13brought it here, thinking it might serve as a clue to this whole horrible
- 12:16business that I say here, Hm, black with age, looks like a
- 12:22metal slug of some kind. Fatty, how about giving this a going over
- 12:28with that metal polish you keep around for polishing him up the door knot were
- 12:30pleasure right here in this draw. I keep it hand in, mister Winter,
- 12:33because all the hardware in this old house is bressed, And I always
- 12:37say, what's the good of having real breast furnishing unless they postponed the house
- 12:41giving Well, mister Winthrop, from your description of Jacob's death panting and dragging
- 12:46footsteps and the final compulsions, I'd say it was probably poisoned. No possibility
- 12:52of suicide, I suppose, of course not. It was the witch,
- 12:56Miss Hermina Brocken. I told you she'd put a curss on him. Curses
- 12:58don't cause convulsion, mister Windor, I never said they did. The point
- 13:03was she hated Jacob enough to want him dead. Why, Well, I
- 13:07suppose it was my fault in a way. I told Jacob to make up
- 13:11to the Gold Girl in order to get her to tell him all the local
- 13:13ghost stories he unearthed twenty. Some of them, like the headless horsemen and
- 13:18the cool Hendrick Hudson who go bowling in the mountains whenever there's a storm,
- 13:20have already been recorded by Washington Nervy. Yes. Then there's the two Specful
- 13:26Riders who are supposed to be the ghosts of Major Andre and General Benedict Arnold.
- 13:30They met and rode through that territory, you know, the knight Arnold
- 13:31sold out to the enemy. Yes. Then there's the story of a lost
- 13:35treasure that's supposed to be cursed, not to mention a batwoman and a black
- 13:39culture who appears whenever there's to be a death in the valley. Interesting but
- 13:41irrelevant. Why did mister rock and hate Jacob certainly enough to go the word
- 13:46these stories out of her? Well? No, as a matter of fact,
- 13:48I rather imagine Jacob overdid his attentions to the old girl when she discovered
- 13:52he had a wife and five children in the bronx while she turned on him
- 13:56like a vixen. It was all Peter and I could do to have him
- 14:00away from her. She was trying to scratch out his eyes. Hell has
- 14:03no fury and so forth quiet. That's who is Peter. Mister Wndor,
- 14:07a local character who does the gardening for me. He's well, not exactly
- 14:11bright, but he can make anything grow. How does he get on with
- 14:15Mitt Brocken? Scared to death of her? Carries a piece of cold iron
- 14:18in his pocket all the time is around the place. If you touch cold
- 14:22iron, you know a witch can't harm you. Speaking of coal metal,
- 14:24how's this very handsome hunk of stuff? It tign's better than I do not
- 14:28now that I've got the Tarny show. Very interesting. That coin Patsy is
- 14:33gold what I'm very skinny to be exact, meant it In the reign of
- 14:37George the Third in those days, coins like this were called trader's gold.
- 14:41Why everybody's soldier who brought in a member of Washington's army received one of these,
- 14:46and every member of Washington forces who gave himself up got one too in
- 14:48the world, is the bout Jacob to answer that, we'll have to make
- 14:52a visit to the Dunderberg. Yes, Master Windor, I think you brought
- 14:56us a problem that's even more interesting than you suspect. Well, just what
- 15:11is the significance of the piece of breaker's gold found clutched in the dead man's
- 15:16hands? Is it connected in any way with the strange events which are happening
- 15:20in the shadow of old Underberg Mountain? We'll see in just a moment.

- 16:55and kem Tom the Miracle Wall Finish at hardware, paint and department stores every
- 17:00where. And now back to today's exciting case. As we pick up Nick,
- 17:11Carter and Patsy, they are following Roger Winterrop along a desolate country road
- 17:15to the Brocken Farm, where Winthrop's servant Jacob has recently died of violent death.
- 17:19It is twilight, and the sinister hawk of the Dunderberg Mountain broods over
- 17:23the landscape. I'm not surprised that people who live around here believe in witches
- 17:29and curses and hidden treasures. If you'd spend a couple of months around the
- 17:33other way I have, miss Bowen, you've believe in superstitions too. Things
- 17:37like that don't seem possible back in the midst of the city's traffic, but
- 17:40up here time seems to stand still. Here people are still living in the
- 17:45dark ages. I noticed as we came along more to the barn, had
- 17:48hech signs spanded on them. Nick, Have you noticed the clouds gathering behind
- 17:52that mountain? Yeah, I imagine the old dustin start that game of nine
- 17:55tens any time now. I hope you reached your house for the winter before
- 17:57the storm breaks. It's over the next rise in mister Carta. Here's the
- 18:02gate behind the lilac bush. That's what you call him, very good with
- 18:06hair. After that's the house down there in the hollow, and that's Peter
- 18:11sitting outside the toolhouse door. I gave him strict instructions not to let anyone
- 18:15move the body until you arrive. I know you detectives prefer to find your
- 18:18clues undisturbed. It's sometimes helpful. Why doesn't Peter sit inside the tool out
- 18:23because he's afraid of the dead. There's a superstition around here that the soul
- 18:26of anyone who's died a violent death is afraid of being alone and always tries
- 18:32to take along a companion. What's that nothing up there in that tree?
- 18:37That's fair, celebrate it against the sky. That's right, cat, it's
- 18:40miss Brockin's hecktibba. They're inseparable. If that cat's around, then the Brocken
- 18:44female isn't far behind. I wondered, who's been following us the last quarter
- 18:48mile? The guy didn't see her hear a thing. You don't mean she's
- 18:52invisible or something. I'll admit she's kept out of sight, But no disembodied
- 18:57spirit breaks twigs and russells dead Lee. He's in perfectly at about what I
- 19:00want. Took the trouble to listen. Hey, let's he got stepped on
- 19:03a little head. My teeth a chattering still, I couldn't hear an avalanche.
- 19:07Oh, Nick, I don't like this place. Easy fat. Here
- 19:11comes Peter, poor guy. He looks relieved. I thought you were stuff
- 19:15for coming. I told you I couldn't stay if you couldn't get back before
- 19:19nightfall. But we did, Peter. This is mister Nick Carter, the
- 19:23famous protecting. He'll find out what he'll Jacob. I's fading fast that I
- 19:27make her examination. The courts completely dark. Oh, Katy, may not
- 19:32be nice. I want to stay out here for that woman and her cat
- 19:34crawling through the bos, the stone coming up beside. Thank you. I'm
- 19:38coming inside, no matter what's in there. All the flashlight, it's horrible,
- 20:00extreme rate and mortars and marked panic constrictions and muffles yours who firmly clanked
- 20:06together to permit any investigation of the oral tervity. We can't take a look
- 20:10at the inside of the lips, not the poison. Whatever it was,
- 20:15it was violent, but I don't think it was administer them. Now,
- 20:18let's see rest on the instep of the shoes between the stone and heel,
- 20:25heavy boots and toward red trousers and the lower limbs, A hands fair,
- 20:30yes, yes, look here the two small punkers of the right thumb,
- 20:34whether help me roll back a sleeve? Right these tocto? Here we are
- 20:41two more, and here again and again, and all the punctors have already
- 20:45started the Gangreen, that's how the poison entered the body. It's the evil
- 20:49eye. Those too dense, it's the mark of the evil eye. They
- 20:53burned straight prolid. Interesting idea, Peter, But what killed Jacob with quite
- 20:59a bit more deadly than any evil eye? Do you mean you know who
- 21:00killed me? Definitely quest to now to find what a killer's hiding. But
- 21:04Na, let's see if we can get a line on how Jacob spent his
- 21:07last twelve hours. Get a small microscope out of my zippertate pay or when
- 21:11you might prepare a few slides, right, just exactly what you're doing that
- 21:17for, mister Carter. Cleaning the dead man's nails, A good scientific detective
- 21:21mister can pretty well deduced and what he finds under any person's nails, where
- 21:26that person has been, and what he's done for some time previous. Oh,
- 21:29slide police said, Hey, this is my most powerful ends. Of
- 21:33course, a splash light isn't as strong as one could wish you you had
- 21:40anything? Yes, quite a few things. He ate a piece of chocolate
- 21:45take for dinner with a figure depot, saw quite a bit of wood minute
- 21:51bitch of starwduck. That was yesterday afternoon. They also plucked the chicken reasons
- 21:53very in polished the furniture finey glow bills are very fine. Oil had the
- 21:57most interesting ingredient into the whole collection. There's a certain timey sport more the
- 22:03funger, great deal of it. As a matter of fact, maybe he
- 22:04went out picking wildflowers in the wood. No, this particular fungers only grows
- 22:08in places where there's a great deal of moisture and where sunlight never reaches any
- 22:14places like that around him at the winter basement spring house. No, no,
- 22:17the basement's bone dry and there is no spring house. How about it,
- 22:19Well, there are few enough improvements on the place, no electricity,
- 22:22no telephone. But we do have a hand humping the kitchen sink, which
- 22:26means are well under it. The Jacob couldn't very easily get down into it.
- 22:29I'd say it would be absolutely impossible. Wait a minute, there's some
- 22:33sort of boarded up stonework with a padlock out back of the barn. I
- 22:37remember someone told me. It's a condemned system or well of some sort.
- 22:41Yeah, that's the witches. Well, you'll be wise to stay away from
- 22:45it. It's the way straight down to hell, a way to hell.
- 22:51Yeah, weren't those Jacob's last word before he died. One, Yes,
- 22:53mister Carr, come on tow me the place, unless I'm very much mistaken.
- 22:56That's where we'll finally answer to this problem. At the I'm a well
- 23:15down to the Henry Hudson's crew had started a game of nineteen Oh that means
- 23:19this evil abroad tonight, nick? Nick? I just remember now what is
- 23:25the first nay? That means it is small treats night when witches ride and
- 23:29graves give up their dead. That one sounded like a strike. This is
- 23:36the system, mister Carter or whatever it is. I thought you said it
- 23:38was Padlock's maletter, you know, always has been, not now a lot.
- 23:44I'm on the brow. They both are bent and christen if someone broken
- 23:48it when the cover has been moved recently too, But Pinni, these crass
- 23:52on the stone that thing. I do believe you're finally beginning to notice things,
- 23:55you know, where you can go down to Yeah, that's just where
- 23:57you will go if you get too interested in that well now here here you're
- 24:04a big boy. Now, you don't really think it's Brocken the witch.
- 24:07I know she is ever say a right at bruins. No, but I've
- 24:11seen her go down this well one winter nights. He and my brother Timmy
- 24:18put hide in the hay of that old pond and wait for her to come
- 24:21along. Forced it here to scrape as she pulled off the lead, and
- 24:25then we'd see her climb down inside, put the lantern and her teeth on
- 24:30that old black cat sitting on her shoulder. Why do you think she didn't
- 24:36limb down inside? I mean to get warm. Of course, it's dice
- 24:40and cousy in hell on the winter's nine. He never went down in summer.
- 24:45Oh why should she? It's hot in the right here in the valley
- 24:48in summer time. Very interesting observation, Peter, And it verifies my hunt.
- 24:52Just how Jacob was killed? And why what do you mean, mister
- 24:56God? Help me pull a little up as well, and I'll show you
- 25:00take that side? Did it? Cassy? Give it that last night?
- 25:07You are thanks, Let's see what we've got. Yes, noticed those lusty
- 25:15spikes driven into the stone work to form a sort of ladder, and noticed
- 25:18for the rush has done scraped reasonably. That's how Jacob got him in his
- 25:22boots. He followed Miss Brocken's example and climbed down into the well. You'll
- 25:26also notice that the stones are covered with that furious fungus we found under his
- 25:30neck. Mick's watching him over there under that apple tree, his hat standing
- 25:36on her shoulder. We've been waiting for you, Miss Brocken. I think
- 25:41you can tell us how Jacob died. I can. It was his own
- 25:45breed killed him. I warned him no man could go down there and live.
- 25:48You knew he died. He went down into the well and let you
- 25:51let him go. I did not. I refused him the key. I
- 25:53did, but he broke off in the lock like a thief where no one
- 25:57was looking. He wouldn't list, and then so he had to die.
- 26:00And I'm not sorry you killed him. More easy went up that rock and
- 26:04hasn't been funsible for Jacob's death? Then who is you? Said yourself?
- 26:08He was poisoned by right And I think if I dropped this rock down into
- 26:11the well, we may rouse the killer. If you don't play that devil's
- 26:17tattoo. Make me careful here, Alice, good lord, what is it
- 26:30rattlesnakes? Forget? This is rattlesnake country, and I rather imagine there's a
- 26:33rattlesnake nest down there. That there is old ones and the young ones,
- 26:40the darlings. I told Jacob not to go down in that well. I
- 26:44told him to go to hell, but only care for his gold. You
- 27:07know, Nick, There's one thing I still don't understand about that down to
- 27:11durd New Street. Why did Jacob go down in the well, And why
- 27:14wasn't Miss Brocken And when she did the same thing? I answered the last
- 27:18question. First, Miss Brocken was careful to make all her descents into the
- 27:22well and winter. So what you see when snake's hibernate, they become cold
- 27:26and almost lifeless. Asking a snake's commerce an old trick of the trade to
- 27:29put snakes on ice af before a show, makes them quite harmless. Oh
- 27:32and as for the reason that drew both Miss Drocken and Jacob into the well,
- 27:36I deduced to miss Samples Jacob had in his hands that the Brocken Well
- 27:40is a hiding place of Benedict Arnold's famous lost treasure. What's that? Well?
- 27:44Major Andre is supposed to have given Arnold a golden guinea for every man
- 27:47then garrisoned at West Point. Arnold undoubtedly hid the money and didn't have time
- 27:51to dig it up when he had to flee for his life after this treachery
- 27:53was uncovered. But if the broccn family knew where it was, why didn't
- 27:57they use it themselves? Probably because, as they thought, it was painted
- 28:00money with a curse on it. I see well, thanks Nick. Now,
- 28:03in just a moment, I want you and Patsy to give us a

- 29:22from Nick Carter himself. Well, Nick, what about next week's story?
- 29:26Next week, can I think I'll tell you the story of how and air
- 29:29mysteriously disappeared before it was born and a curious and frantic paint It was when
- 29:34a woman who's going to have a baby any minute disappears into thin air right
- 29:38on the threshold of a famous maternity hospital. Thank you, persually, don't
- 29:41give the whole plot away, wait until next week. What do you call
- 29:45a story, Nick, I call it the Vanishing Ladies. Nick Carter,
- 29:56Master Detective is featured in Street and Smith magazines. Clark is starred as Nick,
- 30:00with Helen Choate as Patsy. Original music is played by Lou White.
- 30:04The programs are written by Edith Miser, and any resemblance they're into actual persons
- 30:08living or dead is purely coincidental. The entire production is under the direction of
- 30:14Jock McGregor. Nick Potter. Master Detective is presented at this time and over
- 30:22these same stations each week by the three great Linax Home Brightness, Linux Clear
- 30:29Gloss Varnish, Linax Cream Polish, and Linax Self Polishing Wax created by ACME,
- 30:34America's great producer of fine quality paint. This is Ken Powell speaking for
- 30:41the thousands of Linux dealers all over America and saying, so long until next
- 30:45week. This is the mutual broadcasting system, Welcome back. This episode definitely
- 31:06had a very different tone from the traditional Nick Her episode, And I don't
- 31:12mean that in a good way, because you had Nick probably at his most
- 31:17condescending, and you had this case taking on much more of a mastermind sort
- 31:22of a way of telling a story. Well, there's a reason for that.
- 31:26Finder of this week's show was Edith Miser was best known for her work
- 31:33on the New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, and she did pretty well there.
- 31:38Here, she doesn't seem to have much as much of a grasp of the
- 31:41character, so they don't come off quite as well, but she doesn't write
- 31:45too many episodes, so hopefully we'll see some change and improvement in this regard.
- 31:52By the way, the programs that we don't have in existence death at
- 31:56the Studio, Death at the toll Bridge, uh, the Missing Dad kind
- 32:04of in a macabre titling scheme, and the Truth Machine. Those are the
- 32:09four episodes that we missed. All right, Well, that we'll do it
- 32:14for now. Oh the funny thing I should note, I use the otrside
- 32:19dot com for my episode log source on this program, and it lists this
- 32:23as a Halloween episode. And this is funny timing for a Halloween episode given
- 32:29that this was in April. But anyway, all right, well, that'll
- 32:31do it for today. We'll be back tomorrow with yours truly, Johnny Dollar,
- 32:37and join us back here next Thursday for another episode of Next Nick Carter.
