- 0:33Guys, what is going on? Good to have you all here,
- 0:37everybody thinking differently to the aspy world where we think
- 0:40differently daily. You know it.
- 0:41Guys, I'm super pumped to be doing this video.
- 0:43I've never really done a video talking about the bad traits of
- 0:46autism before, so I think it's going to be quite interesting.
- 0:47It's a new one, isn't it? If you haven't already, make
- 0:49sure to download my Autism Life Hacks PDF book completely free
- 0:53from autismhacks.net. Yeah, awesome.
- 0:56OK, so let's come with this video.
- 0:59So being autistic is fantastically awesome and
- 1:02uniquely different, but at the same time, it can be challenging
- 1:06and it can also add some daily life impact and stress to people
- 1:10and it just really can just impact your life in so many
- 1:14ways. So I've listed out some good
- 1:15points and bad points so you guys can really get to grips
- 1:17with what's going on. So I have the list in front of
- 1:21me right here. There's three of each and I'm
- 1:23going to go through the good points 1st and I'll go through
- 1:24the bad points, OK, so buckle up.
- 1:27Enjoy. You guys are awesome.
- 1:29You're here for the ride. It's going to be dope.
- 1:32OK, so good points, right? So the autism brain is good at
- 1:36problem solving. Now artistic people will see
- 1:39solutions where typically people cannot see solutions, like
- 1:42problem solving, mathematics, problem solving, situational
- 1:45problem solving. And this is an awesome ability.
- 1:47You know like that's why autistic people are hired by
- 1:50Microsoft to do a lot of their you know problem solving for
- 1:53their new products software launches and stuff like that.
- 1:56And they look for errors and things and they test all the
- 1:58equipment. It's just great because it down
- 2:00to that attention to detail that they they really like to to home
- 2:04in on and we really like to home in on And that attention to
- 2:06detail allows for problem solving to just kind of roll off
- 2:09the tongue. It comes out of the mind.
- 2:10It's just like just there it is. I'm.
- 2:12I'm problem solving without even knowing it, Which is super,
- 2:14super dope. And that's a good thing, #2 is
- 2:17focus. Autistic people can focus really
- 2:20intensely on a subject that they really enjoy.
- 2:22Like, I pretty much love anything to do with like
- 2:26conspiracy theories. And I love anything through
- 2:28social media, social media marketing, entrepreneurship
- 2:30through social media. And I could no doubt about it
- 2:32all day, just like completely. I just love it and you can ask
- 2:36me anything on it and I'll. I'll tell you that.
- 2:37And I can really focus on it, which is a really good skill to
- 2:39have because you know, say you're really into history.
- 2:43You could be a really good historian or a librarian or
- 2:44something like that, and you'd be really good at answering
- 2:46those questions. And it's just really cool.
- 2:49It's like a cool thing to to have, you know, That's a good
- 2:51point. It's a good trick.
- 2:52And #3 is honesty. Now, most autistic people are
- 2:56honest and genuine. It's what you see is what you
- 2:58get, you know, taking things literally, but being open,
- 3:00honest and genuine at the at the point of communication.
- 3:04And that's great because you want to be around people who are
- 3:06genuine. You want to be around people who
- 3:08care, who are open and honest and that just honest, nice
- 3:11people. And you get that with autistic
- 3:13people. It's super dope.
- 3:14OK, so after we have all the fluffy love good points, we have
- 3:18to unfortunately encompass all the bad points because it is an
- 3:21actual thing. You know, autism doesn't come
- 3:24with just good things. It comes with a bunch load of
- 3:26bad things. And I do like to try and keep
- 3:28this this channel positive and all these videos I do positive.
- 3:31But sometimes you've got to just be honest and talk about the
- 3:33things that are not so positive, right?
- 3:35So bad points, Number one is meltdowns.
- 3:39A meltdown occurs at when things change and even the smallest
- 3:43change in the routine can upset an autistic person, right?
- 3:45So I could be doing something, a small change happens, I have a
- 3:48crazy meltdown and I'm done for like 3 or 4 days, which is just
- 3:51horrible and it just like it's just horrible.
- 3:55You know? It like just a meltdown is this
- 3:57outburst of our overload of of emotional communication that you
- 4:03can't deal with and it's just it's not good.
- 4:05So the next one is communication issues.
- 4:08Now autistic people have issues understanding how to communicate
- 4:11their emotions and their needs and wants.
- 4:13It's so true. I literally was just talking
- 4:14about this in my blog today that like, you know our needs and
- 4:18wants. We all have needs and wants in
- 4:20our life, right? And we all have emotions.
- 4:22But communicating those is super difficult for people who are
- 4:25autistic, and it it causes so much friction, especially in
- 4:28relationships and especially with family members or with
- 4:30anybody really. You know, that discussion is
- 4:32going to be quite annoying for people because they don't really
- 4:34understand. And if you can't portray your
- 4:37emotions properly, they're not going to be able to understand
- 4:39you. And it's just, yeah, I find it
- 4:40really difficult and it's probably one of the biggest
- 4:42stresses I have okay. So the last one is overload.
- 4:45So the sensory world that we live in can be so triggering for
- 4:48people in the autism spectrum, and it can send them into a
- 4:51sensory overload really easy, which then could lead to a
- 4:53meltdown or a shutdown or a burnout because they're trying
- 4:56to keep on top of all of this, like, sensory stuff.
- 4:58So, you know, overloads happen. They're not good, but they do
- 5:02happen. And it's just something that we
- 5:04have to deal with as autistic people.
- 5:06And that's just how it goes. But with the good comes the bad.
- 5:10And All in all, it's life. And I think that's life in
- 5:13general. If you guys have anything to add
- 5:15to this list of good and bad points, pop it in a comment down
- 5:17below. I'd love to see what you guys
- 5:18would pick up on. Also, if you think this video is
- 5:20fun, please share it on your Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
