- 0:01In the beginning, there was two friends.
- 0:07I was going to say there was a beginning.
- 0:10After the beginning there was a middle.
- 0:14That's normally called the climax after the beginning.
- 0:19In the middle there is the end. The Big Bang.
- 0:24The big what? The Frick.
- 0:27And that's how babies are made. Thank you.
- 0:29You're welcome. Hope you have a great day.
- 0:32Bye everyone. Just kidding.
- 0:35We're back. We're back.
- 0:37Hey guys, welcome back to the the Bailey.
- 0:41The Bailey, JB. Guys, I'm drunk.
- 0:46Welcome back to the Daily BJ. I'm Brian and he's Jerry.
- 0:49No, he's. Jerry, I'm Brian.
- 0:52You're Jerry. And this is the Daily BJ Welcome
- 0:56back. Happy Thursday.
- 0:57Happy Thursday, it's good to be back.
- 1:00How you been? Better than last week, because
- 1:03last week you were being real weird.
- 1:05I was not you, the listener. Oh, that's right, you were
- 1:08judging them a little bit. Was I too harsh?
- 1:12I think you should be honest with your friends.
- 1:14I think you should be honest, but you should also be
- 1:17empathetic. I'm very empathetic.
- 1:21Not last week. OK, towards them, what was I?
- 1:24There was something I was showing dulce or we were, we
- 1:29were watching something and I was like, I can't, oh, it was
- 1:32the soccer when they were doing the little bit of what, I don't
- 1:36know what channel we were watching, but they had a section
- 1:38of soccer where they were talking about this couple that
- 1:41met in Estadio Azteca and she was Mexican and he was English.
- 1:45And they fell in love and then he was crying and then I started
- 1:48crying. It was like 2 micheladas deep.
- 1:52Yep, Yep, Yep. And I got real sentimental.
- 1:53Brought to you by me. Yeah, Jerry Bryant.
- 1:58I yes, I like making Micheladas, but yeah, they they met at the
- 2:021986 World Cup, I think. OK.
- 2:04Yeah, they wherever they saw the hand of God.
- 2:06Thing, yeah, the day you look at Brian knowing all these.
- 2:09Guys, I don't know. What's soccer terms?
- 2:12Oh my God. It's Jerry.
- 2:13Jerry's taught me so much. You guys are here to witness it
- 2:15too. Like you sounded so confident.
- 2:17Like if, if you, if I would have have not known you before this,
- 2:20I would have known like, oh, this guy knows ball.
- 2:22Like he knows soccer. He knows football.
- 2:24Maradona. Look at that.
- 2:26What's really funny is later in the week, last last night or the
- 2:31night before. I've been really into watching
- 2:33little tutorials on how to do like video effects and stuff a
- 2:38little a little T drop right there.
- 2:41And one of them was about that moment, they were using it as an
- 2:44example, and I was like, that's Maradona and that's the hand of
- 2:46God. Crazy.
- 2:48Everything happens for a reason. Nothing is random.
- 2:53This is a random video you pulled up I'm sure in the World
- 2:55Wide Web for a cool video effect which had nothing to do with
- 2:58soccer. Nope, that's crazy.
- 3:01And my friend Jerry taught me two days before.
- 3:03Look at that and that's on retainment.
- 3:06If only that game was better. This is the podcast following
- 3:13the Mexico loss to England. Two to three to two in a
- 3:17heartbreaking defeat when all odds were against the English.
- 3:23Mistakes were made and we just couldn't capitalize on those
- 3:27mistakes. It was a hard watch.
- 3:29I did post on Instagram that at least now the drinking for me is
- 3:33over. Nothing is pushing me to
- 3:36celebrate every couple days for a game.
- 3:40The happy drinking is over, but the sad drinking commences.
- 3:43Oh, true, That is what we're doing today.
- 3:44We. Both have to all dance,
- 3:47remember? Last week where he said, oh,
- 3:48let's take shots before we start and we weren't going to tell
- 3:52them poops, they didn't take shots.
- 3:53What happened? We got a beer.
- 3:55Who? Who put those there?
- 3:57They were not in my fridge. They were dropped by a messenger
- 4:01pigeon. Oh, it wasn't a a Osprey.
- 4:07It was close, could have been an osprey.
- 4:10But no, this time around it was not a pandy and haliatus.
- 4:14It was a pigeon. A rock pigeon.
- 4:15Damn legal name. Yeah, I had to drop it after
- 4:19that heartbreaking loss. Very hopeful for what's to come.
- 4:23This isn't a soccer football podcast, but if you understand
- 4:27the struggle and that pain that we felt after watching them
- 4:29lose, you know what I'm talking about.
- 4:31Take a drink with us. Cheers, cheers, Cheers to the
- 4:35Mexican national team. They did great.
- 4:37They look great. They're so handsome.
- 4:41And fuck FIFA. Overall though, I hope you are
- 4:45enjoying your day, cause yeah, besides the game I mean.
- 4:50What else has transpired over the past week?
- 4:55Saturday I went to the beach. I was a.
- 4:57Boys, it was so crowded. It was a holiday and I have not
- 5:02been to the beach on 1/4 of July since I was like 7-8.
- 5:07So I was not prepared for the amount of people just kind of
- 5:11overstepping each other. It's a gay beach, there's not
- 5:13that many. So the gays like to congregate.
- 5:17So what started with enough room for us to be laid out, real
- 5:20comfortable. We're not like brushing
- 5:22shoulders with anyone became everyone's towels are just
- 5:26touching each other. There is no path to get to the
- 5:28water, which honestly is fine because allegedly there was a
- 5:31sewage leak in Laguna and that's where we were.
- 5:35Yeah, I didn't touch the water. I did it a little bit with my
- 5:37toes, but I did not go in. That's touching the water.
- 5:40There was, but I didn't go deep. There was this random white man
- 5:44who we thought was a lifeguard. No, he was just a man with the
- 5:48white savior complex being like, be real careful here.
- 5:51If we go in too deep, the water is going to pull you in.
- 5:54We were like, Oh my God. OK, thanks.
- 5:56Lifeguard walking away. Wait, that's not a lifeguard.
- 5:59It was just a man. Who knows, maybe that was a
- 6:03sign. No, because the lifeguards were
- 6:04further away and they were aggressive about people being
- 6:08too far in. And I I support that.
- 6:09Yeah, for sure. Because you never know until
- 6:12it's too late. Especially with the ocean.
- 6:14Yeah, unforgiving. And I can't swim.
- 6:17I can't swim. You lost me at the beach when
- 6:20you first started, and then you lost me again when you were
- 6:23saying everyone was touching towels and everyone was at, you
- 6:25know, was there at least bread? Was there bread at Pride?
- 6:30Yes, there was. I had a sandwich.
- 6:31Wow. Hell yeah, there was bread.
- 6:33Nice that that. That a lot of bread, a lot of
- 6:36speedos, a lot of swim thongs, whole lot of skin.
- 6:38And no path to get to the. Water, no path to the water, dry
- 6:41as hell. Sandy well.
- 6:45I'm just further convincing me to not go to the beach.
- 6:47Thank you. You did it.
- 6:49You did it, you did it. I'm going to take Jerry to the
- 6:52gay beach. I'm going to scar him.
- 6:54I don't know, scar him. It was, it was really like
- 6:56liberating so many different body types.
- 6:58Yeah, for sure. Shades of colour.
- 6:59Of course, that's amazing. That's that's what the beach
- 7:02promotes. You know, different lengths of
- 7:04towels. I'm sure there's so many, like
- 7:06different providers, circumference.
- 7:09Of umbrellas. For sure yeah, there's different
- 7:11types, you know, different girth, titanium alloy of
- 7:14penises. Oh I'm just kidding.
- 7:17You lost lost me there again. I I just.
- 7:21But someone else's? Add in a drum thingy.
- 7:27Enough, enough of me. There is something that you
- 7:31really wanted to share with everyone.
- 7:33So on that Saturday, we, I felt, I just felt spontaneous.
- 7:39I didn't want to be in the house all day.
- 7:41I was like, I want to go do something, but just to get out
- 7:43of the house, not to celebrate anything, whatever.
- 7:46So I found a location. There was a rooftop bar that was
- 7:50open. So I put that I, I dropped it in
- 7:54the chat and I was like, yo, who's trying to come?
- 7:56Let's go. Obviously, Brian.
- 7:58Brian was rallied. Yeah, I was not down at first.
- 8:01I was like, I'm tired and I got sand between my cheeks.
- 8:03I need to chill. After the beach like shout out
- 8:06to you because I would have gone home and slept after I ate a
- 8:09sandwich with chips. And I got Del Taco.
- 8:13Close, very close. So we get to the spot, and I had
- 8:18read online that it was free up until 8:00 because then after 8
- 8:22there's a cover charge. I'm like, cool, if we get there
- 8:24early, we don't have to pay that cover charge.
- 8:26We get there, of course, everything's reserved, there's
- 8:29no tables. So we get to the standing area.
- 8:32Very limited. The bartender was cool.
- 8:35Well, the late 1st, the lady, yeah.
- 8:37At the at the little stand, the Hostess.
- 8:40Yeah, yeah. It's like, are you going to be
- 8:41here past 8? That's right.
- 8:44And we're like, maybe. Yeah, it depends.
- 8:48And then? It's only free until 8.
- 8:51After 8 you'll have to pay uncovered.
- 8:53Do you want to pay it now? That's where they threw me off.
- 8:55I'm like, wait, so we still have to pay it if we want to stay
- 9:00and. Yeah, and it's standing room
- 9:01only. And we're like, and I think it
- 9:04was like, oh, let's check it out.
- 9:06I'm like, yeah, let's just check it out for now.
- 9:07We'll we'll see. And she's like, OK, cool.
- 9:09Like if you decide come back or. Something we can charge you
- 9:12later. There you go at.
- 9:13Eight. There you go, exactly like that.
- 9:16So we walk, we get a drink. Lovely bartender, super nice.
- 9:20Not a lot of standing room, very limited.
- 9:23Any tables or chairs that were aren't there were already taken
- 9:25table. We're already wearing the
- 9:26wristbands. Yep.
- 9:27So we were like, not the vibes, not like not exactly what we're
- 9:32looking for. I'm not going to pay 20 bucks to
- 9:34just stay in here. Exactly so if we had gotten a
- 9:36table. I would have considered maybe,
- 9:38yeah. I would have considered it, but
- 9:40because no tables everything, everyone was kind of scavenging
- 9:43for a table. Waiting for people to leave.
- 9:45Waiting, not realizing that everyone was already
- 9:47wristbanded. Wearing a wristband, Yeah.
- 9:49And then to pay an additional fee after already being in
- 9:52there, we're like, Nah. So we were like.
- 9:54Expensive too. They were 20 bucks minimum.
- 9:57So everything just kind of added up.
- 9:58The vibes weren't there. I'm on us.
- 10:00What's right next door, Downtown Disney.
- 10:03Woo. And we already paid for parking
- 10:04so might as well stay in the area.
- 10:06It was across the street. So we're like, you know what,
- 10:08let's just go. And we might even see the Disney
- 10:11fireworks, which I'm sure are going to be special for it being
- 10:14a holiday. So we went, we went to this, we
- 10:17walked to the down to Downtown Disney.
- 10:20Very chill. A lot of people, of course.
- 10:22But they were already kind of waiting around because we left
- 10:25right on the dot at 8:00 and they were going to charge us.
- 10:27We said, OK, we're leaving. OK, bye.
- 10:29Thank you. Yeah, so then walking towards
- 10:31Downtown Disney, they had like special areas for viewing.
- 10:34So we cross, we do all that stuff, we end up at a
- 10:36restaurant, we get seated super, super fast.
- 10:39Yeah, 'cause they said standing room at the bar.
- 10:41Yeah. Or first come, first serve.
- 10:42Exactly. So we found some seasons at the
- 10:43bar. Vibes at the bar were
- 10:45Immaculate. The food was good.
- 10:48I had like a like a breaded. What was it you had fish?
- 10:52I had something I had like breaded fish.
- 10:53It was like. Stinky.
- 10:55It was not stinky. It was really good.
- 10:57It was, it was good tilapia or something.
- 11:00It was not tilapia. So I got a pizza that was really
- 11:02good and then we kept the drinks go and had.
- 11:05The drinks and we were just there having a good old time.
- 11:08It started with a very, like, iffy rooftop bar, turned into,
- 11:12honestly, a pretty chill evening sitting at the bar.
- 11:16Disneyland. Practically, yeah.
- 11:17'Cause at 9:30 we get off our butts, start walking back to the
- 11:20car, make it just in time for the fireworks to start, and we
- 11:23get caught up in the viewing area.
- 11:25And we get to the climax of the story.
- 11:27Yes, if you're thinking this all was leading up to the this part,
- 11:30it was we find a spot after pushing through people to get a
- 11:35good spot at the fireworks and we're also walking towards the
- 11:37car already. So we were like towards that
- 11:39like back end of that whole crowd.
- 11:41I'm like, I got to take a video of this.
- 11:43Yeah. It's beautiful.
- 11:44The finale is about. The finale is about to happen.
- 11:46As I'm pulling out my phone. The finale starts.
- 11:49Perfect seconds. I open my phone, it takes long
- 11:53because my phone is garbage and it takes forever to open.
- 11:56My camera doesn't work. It finally turns on.
- 11:58I hit record. I get the last little sparkle of
- 12:02fireworks and it ends. Music stops.
- 12:06It's. Over, people are running.
- 12:09And Dulce and Brian are laughing at me.
- 12:12It was so funny to see in person because, yeah, he's like trying
- 12:15to unlock his phone and the fireworks are going off like
- 12:17crazy. It's a beautiful show.
- 12:19And as soon as he presses record, it's just the embers,
- 12:24the relationship. Of the last firework that popped
- 12:27off and I was like wow this is very Jerry of me to just get the
- 12:30ending literally the ending and not even the ending so that was
- 12:36fun and I thought it was a laugh out loud moment we will share
- 12:39that video with you so you can see it cause yes it is still on
- 12:43my phone we'll. Put it on the Instagram.
- 12:45That killed me. But once again, just just a
- 12:47huge, you know, I'm, I'm used to it.
- 12:50That has been sitting in my head all week.
- 12:52It is so funny. But amigo, what is haunting you
- 12:55this week? IPhones that don't work, that's
- 13:00been killing me every time I need my phone for my camera it
- 13:04just never. It never pulls through for me.
- 13:06I'm so sad. How are you going to take your
- 13:07thirst straps? Exactly.
- 13:09We've been Jimming because we we've been Jimming.
- 13:11Yes, we have. But what really haunted me this
- 13:13week was Lechusas. That sounds so familiar.
- 13:18A Cryptid that I'm positive once I start getting into it you will
- 13:22remember. But Lechuzas have been part of
- 13:25my lore like as a as a kid as a kid since I could remember.
- 13:31So I need you to answer carefully.
- 13:34OK, like real answers? Or is this when I ask questions
- 13:38that I don't let you answer? That's so funny, like a real
- 13:40answer. OK, if you're driving down a
- 13:43lonely road in South Texas at 2:00 in the morning and you see
- 13:48a giant owl land on a fence next to you, are you stopping your
- 13:53car? No, because I'm in Texas and I'm
- 13:57alone, but you're. Probably armed.
- 14:01Oh really? You're open, Carries just.
- 14:03Kidding. OK, that changes everything.
- 14:05Yes, and I'm investigating. No, you're not armed gun.
- 14:08Pointing. At an owl.
- 14:10I don't know if it's an owl. That's true.
- 14:12I'm gonna go with your first answer because that's a good
- 14:16answer. I don't think I'm stopping.
- 14:18I don't know what that might be. Yes, a giant owl.
- 14:21What is this, DND? Yeah, probably Sounds like
- 14:23something Jerry would do. It's probably La La Chusa.
- 14:29Before you say wait, doesn't la Chusa just mean owl in Spanish?
- 14:33Oh, is that what I'm thinking? Yes.
- 14:35Oh, OK. That's what it means.
- 14:37La Chusa is owl or bool, which is another way to say owl.
- 14:41But in Mexican and Mexican American folklore, La La Chusa
- 14:45isn't just any owl, it's one of the most feared supernatural
- 14:48creatures across northern Mexico and the Texas Borderlands.
- 14:53It's usually described as a witch, a bruja that transforms
- 14:58into an enormous owl, sometimes with the face of a woman.
- 15:02Glowing eyes. Brian is fist pumping right?
- 15:05Now I've heard of this. I have a book about this in my
- 15:08bookshelf. Oh, we got to find it.
- 15:10And a wingspan way bigger than any real bird should have 15
- 15:13feet up to 15 feet. OK, note for the future is
- 15:17something that I got caught up. Caught up on Crystal Zoology.
- 15:21Thunderbird. A Thunderbird?
- 15:22Yeah. You ever heard about that in
- 15:24that picture? No, I know there's a.
- 15:26Car. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's what I
- 15:27think. Maybe huge bird, like a massive
- 15:31like the size of a pterodactyl. But it's a bird.
- 15:33Interesting. Is it an albatross?
- 15:35A wandering albatross? Anyways, according to the
- 15:38legend, it whistles outside your house, follows travellers at
- 15:43night and sometimes calls people by name.
- 15:46If you answer, you've already made a mistake.
- 15:51Question. OK.
- 15:54If you heard something outside your window calling your name at
- 15:563:00 in the morning, are you going to check the blinds or
- 16:00pretend you didn't hear anything?
- 16:02Or are you snoring too loud to hear?
- 16:04I realistically I'm snoring too loud.
- 16:06I sleep like a log. I would only check if it's a
- 16:09voice that seems familiar. OK.
- 16:11That's what would get me OK. If for some reason, especially
- 16:14now that it's really hot and I've been sleeping in my living
- 16:16room because I have AC out there, if I hear Jerry's voice
- 16:20calling me, I'm going to at least peeb out the window.
- 16:23OK, check your location. That's smart.
- 16:26I I think waking up being having having that fog brain, I
- 16:29wouldn't even think about checking location.
- 16:32I would check the blinds. Yeah, yeah.
- 16:35And me too, yeah, I have my glasses on though 'cause you're
- 16:40not going to catch me slipping without glasses or contacts
- 16:44would be like wait, wait, go put my contacts on.
- 16:47Clank, you're dropping everything on the way to the
- 16:49bathroom. Come back, it's too late, I can
- 16:51see everything now. One thing I found really
- 16:55interesting is that the legend isn't exactly the same
- 16:58everywhere. Makes sense.
- 17:00Regional in Mexico, especially in the northern states.
- 17:03La Lechusa is almost always a bruja.
- 17:06Stories say she was a woman who practiced witchcraft or made a
- 17:09deal with the devil. Sometimes she's out for revenge
- 17:13after her child was killed. She's related to.
- 17:16Like Yorona. Like Yorona killed her child
- 17:20with her children. Oh, that's a that's a good
- 17:22theory. And that's write that down.
- 17:23Write that down. Yeah, Beef.
- 17:24I didn't write the fan fiction. Other versions say she punishes
- 17:28people who wronged her family. She's intelligent, personal, and
- 17:33supposedly chooses her victims carefully.
- 17:36The owl isn't the monster, it's the disguise.
- 17:39The witch is the actual monster. But once the legend crossed into
- 17:43Texas, especially the Rio Grande Valley and South Texas, it
- 17:48started evolving. Texas people still describe the
- 17:52giant owl. They do say how my exes live in
- 17:54Texas. So what if it's just like a
- 17:56scorned woman and this man is just like she's an owl?
- 18:00He's pissed, he's just jealous and.
- 18:02They're like who exactly? Who exactly?
- 18:07But the stories become much more like campfire tales, meant to
- 18:10keep people out of trouble. Parents warn kids not to wander
- 18:14at night because La Lechusa might snatch them away.
- 18:17Adults warned each other not to drive lonely roads after
- 18:20midnight or whistle into the darkness.
- 18:23That's a common thing when I was doing some research into the a
- 18:29Redwood forest like a comic thing I was seeing was people in
- 18:32Reddit comments saying don't whistle at night.
- 18:34I think that's also a thing for like the Appalachian woods where
- 18:37it's like never whistle at night.
- 18:39You don't know what you're going to draw out.
- 18:40Exactly. I mean, that's what you do with
- 18:43a dog whistle. You're going to call your dog.
- 18:46Yeah, and the freaking dog man is out.
- 18:47There and the Cryptid La La Tusa basically became the
- 18:52supernatural neighborhood watch. That's cute.
- 18:56The Texas versions also lean into revenge.
- 18:58Many stories say the witch targets hunters, drunk drivers,
- 19:02unfaithful spouses or people who disrespect elders.
- 19:05It's less random monster and more she remembers what you did.
- 19:10She's related to the Santa. He knows what you did.
- 19:12Oh my God, she's got a list. She buys the data.
- 19:15She buys the data from Big North Pole.
- 19:18And she's checking it twice. I have a question for you again.
- 19:21OK, what's scarier? A monster that attacks
- 19:23everybody, E for everyone, or one that specifically knows your
- 19:28search history. Oh no, that's targeted.
- 19:30I believe in equal opportunity scaring.
- 19:34I don't want to be. I don't want to be targeted.
- 19:37OK, it's valid. That's valid 'cause I was
- 19:39searching. For owl memes on the Internet.
- 19:43That's who exactly. Oh my God.
- 19:45Not me. Not me.
- 19:46It wasn't me. It wasn't me.
- 19:48They were Osprey memes I swear. I swear it.
- 19:52Some stories get even stranger. Witnesses describe hearing an
- 19:56owl whistle before seeing anything.
- 19:58Others claim it can imitate the sound of a crying baby to lure
- 20:02people outside. If I heard a crying baby in the
- 20:06middle of like the forest or campsite, like I'm going to go
- 20:09check. But at the same time I know a
- 20:11lot of animals sound like humans just based off of their cries.
- 20:16Or, you know, exactly I was going to do a hyena laugh and I
- 20:20can't. If you've ever heard a real barn
- 20:23owl, it's already nightmare fuel.
- 20:26Barn owls don't hoot like owls in cartoons.
- 20:29Oh, I wish you had a sound effect ready.
- 20:32I do, but it's I have to like, open another page and have it
- 20:34ready. They make this long, raspy
- 20:37screeching hiss that sounds like somebody dragging a violin
- 20:41across the sheet metal. If you didn't know what made
- 20:44that sound, you'd probably invent a Monster. 2 One detail I
- 20:49loved is how different communities added their own
- 20:51rules. Some people say never whistle
- 20:53back, others say don't make eye contact.
- 20:56Some insist that you carry a cross to protect you.
- 20:59From the owls or from the lechuza specific?
- 21:01From the lechuza in. My mind, I'm thinking you're.
- 21:04Like OWL just, well, we'll get to that.
- 21:06Me versus the barn owl. We will get to that Brian.
- 21:08Thank you. Others swear cursing at it sends
- 21:11it away. This one sent me because just
- 21:13like seeing a giant owl and just start cursing at it.
- 21:17Just start roasting it. Your mom's a hoof.
- 21:20Who? And then they get you.
- 21:22Oh shit, there's even a tradition that if La La Chusa
- 21:26lands on your roof or calls your name three times, somebody in
- 21:30your family is going to die. Of course, the thing about
- 21:34folklore, it always grows. Every town has another chapter.
- 21:38It's almost impossible to find two families that tell you the
- 21:41exact same La Chusa story. The details will forever change,
- 21:46and the fear will stay the same. Now, something we've talked
- 21:50about in previous episodes. Researchers who study South
- 21:54Texas folklore point out that La La Chusa isn't just a scary
- 21:56monster. The story reflects history,
- 21:59culture and survival. These were communities living in
- 22:02isolated ranches and farming towns.
- 22:04Nights were dark. Roads were dangerous.
- 22:06Children could disappear if they wander too far.
- 22:09Wild animals are everywhere. The story about a giant which
- 22:13owl kept kids close to home after sunset.
- 22:16Fear became a safety lesson. The legend survives because
- 22:19every generation had someone willing to tell it around the
- 22:22fire or at the kitchen table. Our culture loves a lesson and
- 22:27stories told in riddles and allegories and nonsense.
- 22:33You know what? What I've just dawned on me as
- 22:35I'm listening to you talk. A lot of cryptozoology maybe.
- 22:39Maybe I'm making a far reaching thought right here that a lot of
- 22:44folklore, a lot of myths, is just some a child being told
- 22:48what to be afraid of and they never grow out of it.
- 22:50Yeah, yeah. And then they pass that along.
- 22:53Yeah, the other younger ones. Exactly, that's funny, like
- 22:57you're told about Liorona and then you're just fearful of it
- 23:00for your entire life 'cause no one told you that it was fake.
- 23:02Yup. Fear mongering.
- 23:06So now after learning all this, maybe not for the first time,
- 23:10have you heard of La La Chusa? Like was that a story told in
- 23:13your family or cousins or? I think the name was just
- 23:16familiar. And then when you mentioned that
- 23:17it's a witch owl, it reminded me that I think Andrew recommended
- 23:22me a book where that is a topic. I haven't read the book, but I
- 23:26think that might be part of the plot.
- 23:27It's like an old witch lady, like a healer, and I think an
- 23:31owl's involved. OK, I don't think I mention it
- 23:34here, but I think an Aztec mythology, I was meant like
- 23:41death and like negative things and the like demons and stuff
- 23:45like that. So it would make sense that
- 23:46they're associated with something very supernatural and
- 23:51negative in, in, in these cultures.
- 23:53So that I, I want to learn about that.
- 23:55I want to know what the book he's talking about or he gave
- 23:57you. Yeah.
- 23:58No, I bought it at the store. Yeah, I have it on my bookshelf.
- 24:00I'll show you later. Before we wrap this up, there's
- 24:04one main thing worth talking about.
- 24:07OK, the real animal most people connect to La Lechusa is the
- 24:11American Barn Owl. That's the brown one, right?
- 24:14Yeah, brown and white or tidal fricata.
- 24:17What another scientific name? Oh, focaccia.
- 24:21Not focaccia, Tidal fricata. Fricata.
- 24:25According to allaboutbirds.org, American Barn owls are
- 24:29restricted to the Americas. The Eastern barn owl stretches
- 24:33from South Asia to Australia and the Western barn owl is found in
- 24:38Europe, Africa, and Western Asia.
- 24:40So the owl that we are correlating the story to is the
- 24:43American Barn Owl. OK, yes, these birds can look
- 24:47eerie and scary. They have a pale white
- 24:50heart-shaped face. Their eyes almost glow in the
- 24:54moonlight. They fly almost silently.
- 24:57Their eyes are dark. They can have a wingspan ranging
- 25:00from three feet to just over 4 feet, which is pretty huge if
- 25:04you think about it. Oh these are so scary looking.
- 25:07No, they're not. They're beautiful, Brian.
- 25:08No, it looks like they're wearing masks.
- 25:10Reframe that question that that statement right now and that
- 25:14awesome screech. It sounds like something that
- 25:16escaped a haunted. House Oh, this is cute.
- 25:18I will play that at the end for you.
- 25:21It's easy to. Understand how people centuries
- 25:23ago looked at 1 flying across the field and thought that thing
- 25:27isn't natural. But here's the reality.
- 25:30Barn owls are one of the best natural pest controllers we
- 25:33have. A single barn owl family can eat
- 25:35thousands of rodents in a single breeding season, helping farmers
- 25:39and keeping rodent populations under control.
- 25:41They're an essential part of a healthy ecosystem throughout
- 25:44Mexico, Texas, and other parts of the world.
- 25:47Unfortunately, folklore has sometimes had a darker side
- 25:51because of beliefs linking owls to witches, death or bad luck.
- 25:56Some communities have historically killed or driven
- 25:59away barn owls simply for existing.
- 26:01They're too scary to look at, and that's apart from pesticides
- 26:04and urbanization. Conservation groups continue to
- 26:07stress that these birds are harmless to people and
- 26:09incredibly valuable to agriculture and local
- 26:12ecosystems. If you ever see a barn owl
- 26:14perched on a fence, maybe don't assume it's an ancient witch
- 26:18plotting revenge. No, I will, I'm going to read
- 26:21that again. Maybe don't.
- 26:24It's probably just looking for a mouse that doesn't realize it's
- 26:27about to become dinner. But the mouse.
- 26:31That might not be as scary as La Lechusa, but for the mouse, it's
- 26:36a Horror Story. Anytime I get to talk.
- 26:41About conservation of our flora and fauna, especially native.
- 26:46I'm going to I'm going to go hard.
- 26:47I loved reading about this every rabbit hole I get it sent me
- 26:51down a different one. And then I was just about
- 26:52rabbits at all. I know well game like food for,
- 26:56you know, game. I know game.
- 26:58It was really fun. And then obviously I got to
- 27:01reference a couple websites I use on a day-to-day basis.
- 27:03Really. Which one?
- 27:04The Cornell Lab of Ornithology, which is the bird ID app that I
- 27:08have. Oh, Jerry loves.
- 27:10That app. I fucking live on that app.
- 27:11He's like everyone be. Quiet.
- 27:12Yeah, my. Favorite show is on playing a
- 27:15bird call. Wait, shut up.
- 27:17But yeah, it was super fun because once it links Krypton
- 27:21and a cultural belief to like real, real animals and real
- 27:26things that I'm into. So it's just so cool.
- 27:29I did grow up with that thought that like these owls in general
- 27:32are witches and that because of their screech on the videos that
- 27:35I've seen, there's always a barn or like some sort of perched owl
- 27:40in like a warehouse and it's screeching like crazy and it's
- 27:42like moving side to side, but it's just doing what it's
- 27:45supposed to, their characteristics.
- 27:47Are just inherently kind of eerie like the ability to turn
- 27:50their head almost 180 that's a little scary nocturnal huge eyes
- 27:55like. Yeah, for sure.
- 27:56Anything that moves in the. Night, I think you're as a you
- 27:59as a human are more predisposed to be kind of fearful of 'cause
- 28:02that's resting time. That's like sleepy time.
- 28:05You're not supposed to be worried about anything, at least
- 28:08now in modern society where everyone is mostly sleeping
- 28:10indoors. But growing up in the texting
- 28:14friends here back in the early days like.
- 28:18You you would. Definitely be scared if you hear
- 28:20a creepy screeching sound and you're just asleep like outside.
- 28:24Yep, I think foxes. Also make a very similar like
- 28:26human sound when alert or trying to defend its its Cubs or
- 28:30something. But anyways, conservation become
- 28:32educated on this stuff. Yeah, watch the movie.
- 28:34Who? Watch the movie.
- 28:36Who love that movie as a child. But if you do see a 15 foot
- 28:40witch faced owl then run. Yeah, don't.
- 28:46Don't start conversation. Don't try to like, talk your way
- 28:50out of it because owls know everything.
- 28:53They won't. They're not asking you questions
- 28:55because they want answers. They're asking you questions to
- 28:58buy time to eat. You who?
- 29:02I have to go. That's so interesting, friend.
- 29:07Yeah. Thank you.
- 29:08Thank you. What haunted you this week?
- 29:11Dancing. Dancing.
- 29:12I just been thinking about dancing a lot.
- 29:14That's so cool. You know what's been haunting?
- 29:16Me for at this point. More.
- 29:20Than a year dancing. It's when we were.
- 29:24Front row at Lady Gaga and she yelled to the crowd dance.
- 29:30Or die. Wow.
- 29:33For some people. You do.
- 29:35Dance until you die, dance till you're dead.
- 29:41It's not just the lyrics to the song.
- 29:42Heads will roll by the yeah yeah, yeah.
- 29:44It's an actual thing that has occurred a few times throughout
- 29:47history. Think of Flash.
- 29:50Mob, but deadly. Imagine this, Jerry.
- 29:54I see you're a little confused. Very.
- 29:57It's a hot summer day. You're walking around the
- 30:00neighborhood. You see a lone woman just
- 30:02dancing in the town square. I'm doing a little body.
- 30:06Roll so you can get the. The image there's no.
- 30:09Music though. She's at it for.
- 30:12Hours. Eventually someone.
- 30:15Else joins. They dance the day.
- 30:17Away by sunset, more people have joined and a crowd has gathered
- 30:23to watch. There's still no music, just the
- 30:26sound of footsteps tapping the floor and the heavy breaths of
- 30:29dancers getting more and more tired by the minute.
- 30:32But still. They don't stop.
- 30:35The next morning. They're still at it.
- 30:38More people have joined, replacing those who collapsed
- 30:40overnight due to exhaustion and dehydration.
- 30:43That's crazy. However, once they're awake,
- 30:47they continue, their bodies forced to move to an imaginary
- 30:50beat. This goes on for days, and 1 by
- 30:541, the dancers drop dead. If Gaga told you to dance or
- 30:59die, how long would you last? I think I.
- 31:03Would run out of. Moves and like 15 minutes.
- 31:06OK, don't think. Choreography.
- 31:08Think. Just Dance.
- 31:09Just wild, feverish. Just like oh.
- 31:13The music's taking over me. I have to dance.
- 31:16Doing a little one. Two step in a arm, swing around.
- 31:23I'm tight. I'm.
- 31:24Searching something up really quick because it's going to help
- 31:26me decide my answer, but I'm going to say about 3 days
- 31:32because if it takes three to seven days for the average human
- 31:35to die without drinking water, dancing and burning calories and
- 31:40getting dehydrated will probably get me closer to three days.
- 31:43You're so. Brave and so strong to think
- 31:46that You Can Dance non-stop for that many days because I could
- 31:50give it maybe 40 minutes before I'm heaving over trying to catch
- 31:53my breath. You also.
- 31:54Have like asthma so that makes Yeah, but for three days you.
- 31:59Will dance non-stop, no break. No, I realize that's also like
- 32:02overnight and stuff yeah nothing.
- 32:04There's no breaks. You dance until you collapse
- 32:06like that. Like.
- 32:07Not die. No, you're collapsing any
- 32:09moment. That you're able to be fully
- 32:11awake and coherent. You're dancing.
- 32:12OK, I'm going to say 2 days. Wow, probably towards that
- 32:16night. I'll probably collapse.
- 32:18OK, I would love. To test this out, I'm sitting, I
- 32:21I even think 40 minutes for me is a stretch, maybe like 15
- 32:25minutes of like constant moving. Listen, I've barely.
- 32:28Been hitting the gym, I need to work on my cardio.
- 32:30If I was a little bit more advanced than that, maybe I'd
- 32:33last a little more, but for now we're sticking 40 minutes back.
- 32:36OK, valid. Sorry.
- 32:38The whole time when you started telling the story, I'm like, oh,
- 32:41that's that's seems normal. It reminded me of that episode
- 32:44and I've never seen it. I've just seen clips of it of
- 32:46the kid from Rosa de Guadalupe who's like also just like
- 32:49dancing, but he's like crying. So keep.
- 32:54That. In mind, Jerry, because maybe
- 32:56this, this is an inspiration because believe it or not, this
- 33:00happened. The most prolific death by dance
- 33:04anomaly occurred in July of 15181518.
- 33:09That's more than 5. 100 years ago that was like. 500 years
- 33:13ago? Yep, and it occurred.
- 33:14In the city of Stroudsburg, which is located in what is
- 33:18currently France along the Rhine River, well, doesn't.
- 33:21Strauss mean dance and I don't know I'm.
- 33:24Kidding, I totally made. That up?
- 33:25I thought it was somewhere in Germany.
- 33:26In Germany? Well, doesn't Germany mean
- 33:28dance? The Strasbourg community was
- 33:31infected by dance. Wow.
- 33:36The moving and grooving. Plague started when Frau trofa
- 33:41trofu Trofia. I don't remember how to
- 33:45pronounce that last name. I'm so sorry.
- 33:46I think you like disrespected. Me in like 3 different languages
- 33:49when Frau. Stepped onto a quiet St. and
- 33:52started dancing Jerry lock in there's a woman and she's
- 33:55dancing in the street I'm. Sorry, silently.
- 33:59She shuffled from left to right, tapping her feet, flailing her
- 34:04arms. She twisted and she shook and
- 34:07she twirled all morning as townspeople just walked by.
- 34:11They're probably a little confused, but someone dancing
- 34:14isn't something super alarming to witness.
- 34:17I've personally seen people. Dancing alone in public a few
- 34:19times, mostly for TikTok for sure, but.
- 34:22I just like. Look and Oh my God, they're so
- 34:25good. Yeah, and just go.
- 34:26About my day, yeah. They're so brave, like.
- 34:28That's so cool. The thing was miss.
- 34:30Girl danced non-stop for about a week.
- 34:34And by then she. Had been joined by around 40
- 34:36other people. By August, it would multiply to
- 34:40over 400 people all around the city dancing.
- 34:46Dance till you did. Crazy, mind you, no.
- 34:49One signed a waiver, do you think Jerry?
- 34:52That this is the first example of mosh pitting.
- 34:59Was there anyone like hitting each other?
- 35:01Well, there's. Like flailing.
- 35:03I I'd imagine sure. Like I'm going to say sure.
- 35:06It's like an arm if they're. Flailing and.
- 35:07Flailing. If they're flailing and kicking
- 35:10and doing all this movement that could potentially land a hit and
- 35:14hit someone, sure, that's moshing.
- 35:15Yeah, I agree. I'm kind of envisioning like.
- 35:17Slave for You by Britney Spears, where they're all just kind of
- 35:19like sweaty slave Who are you? But it was not like that.
- 35:25Apparently was really terrible. I bet.
- 35:27I mean, it's 15. 18 Not many moves were invented, and they
- 35:29don't have deodorant. That's.
- 35:31Wild. I don't even think of that.
- 35:32Oh, that's the worst part. It just hit me that's.
- 35:35Crazy 1518 were they still using like they did not have aluminum?
- 35:40Deodorant back there? No, they didn't they.
- 35:41Didn't have antiperspirant. Oh my God, glad I wasn't there.
- 35:45Middle Ages am I right? Dude wearing like 6 layers of
- 35:48clothing? Fuck no.
- 35:50So what? Was going on.
- 35:53No one really knew. A lot of theories floated around
- 35:57the local hierarchy trying to figure out the cause for this
- 36:00dancing frenzy. The crowd was growing.
- 36:03Rambunctious and was a massive safety hazard for the area.
- 36:08Imagine 400 people jumping around, swaying their arms back
- 36:10and forth aggressively. People fainting from fatigue.
- 36:14It was bound to be deadly and. Unfortunately, it.
- 36:17Was. Some local doctors.
- 36:21Believe that the dancing disease was caused by hot blood.
- 36:24That the people flopping around, we're only doing so because the
- 36:27blood inside of them was fighting to cool down.
- 36:30They knew exactly. What they had to do?
- 36:33Bleed them out. What?
- 36:36Or so they thought. For a hot minute before changing
- 36:40their minds and deciding that the Cure was to dance it away,
- 36:43no matter how long it might take.
- 36:46Of course, the locals ended up. Building a stage for the crowd
- 36:51for them to dance until they were cured local.
- 36:53Guild Halls. Were clear to give people indoor
- 36:55spaces to dance. For those that remained outside,
- 36:58they built large platforms in the market areas.
- 37:02Professional. Dancers were even brought in
- 37:04along with a band to facilitate the dancing.
- 37:08Wow, they added. Music, yeah.
- 37:09They got sick and tired of just hearing.
- 37:13And. And and huffing and puffing and
- 37:15grunting. They got.
- 37:19So fed up with that. They thought maybe the good.
- 37:22Vibes would cool down the blood faster.
- 37:25They really wanted to get the people going.
- 37:29I bet the dancers are hot too. Just to like get your heartbeat
- 37:31like racing a little bit, maybe big.
- 37:35Butts, but wouldn't. That like increase the
- 37:37temperature of your blood. Well, they thought like.
- 37:40Eventually they would like sort it out like with enough moving,
- 37:43yeah, you would just stop. OK, OK.
- 37:45It didn't work. Wow.
- 37:49Wow, really? People kept.
- 37:51Collapsing, some suffering strokes and heart attacks.
- 37:55Remember, this was in the middle of summer.
- 37:56It was July through August. Amazing.
- 38:02The plan was a total. Disaster.
- 38:05No one was. Dancing out the disease.
- 38:09Other theories involved potential poisoning.
- 38:14Some believe that the. Bread had been poisoned by
- 38:17ergot, A fungus that can grow, and rye.
- 38:21Symptoms of that include dizziness, convulsions and
- 38:25psychosis and dance. Any time I think of.
- 38:28Some sort of rye bread poisoning.
- 38:29I do think of the Salem witch trials from a documentary I
- 38:33watched on like the sci-fi channel when I was like 9.
- 38:36And I'm like that's that's it. One day I'm going to have
- 38:39poisoned bread and I'm going to think people are witches.
- 38:42Wow. That has stuck with me.
- 38:44Since that was crazy, so little national.
- 38:46Geographic. Honestly, yeah, probably.
- 38:49I don't think I was watching sci-fi until.
- 38:51I was older. However, this.
- 38:55Fungus also cuts off blood supply when you're poisoned,
- 38:59specifically to your hands and feet.
- 39:02So they would make it. Extremely hard to dance if
- 39:04you're not getting blood flow to your hands and feet.
- 39:06So they ruled that out. They're not poisoned.
- 39:09There is. Also, the belief that the
- 39:10dancers are part of a secret cult, that they were willingly
- 39:13dancing until they passed out to serve some higher power.
- 39:17Ultimately this was tossed aside as many of the dancers expressed
- 39:21desire to stop dancing and the misery it caused.
- 39:25So like you said, Rosa de Guadalupe episode.
- 39:28Was moving. All about was not happy about it
- 39:30Yeah and I was questioning as I was reading the articles cause
- 39:36by. That point I.
- 39:37Have not. I hadn't read anything that said
- 39:39that they were upset to be dancing.
- 39:41But then one really good article of someone who did like a whole
- 39:44research paper was like, no, they any time they were able to
- 39:48take a break or like would be on the brink of like passing out,
- 39:51they were expressing how miserable they are and how bad
- 39:53they wanted it to stop. OK.
- 39:57This is so wacky dude. Like.
- 40:00What are y'all doing in? 1518 like this this this is
- 40:04great. I'm also envisioning it in the
- 40:06modern day understanding of a flash mob.
- 40:10So the idea of it, I mean, this is sad.
- 40:12People died, but in my mind I has just, it seems so silly.
- 40:15Yeah, yeah, yeah. For sure huge.
- 40:19Crowd at the mall just. Doing like the High School
- 40:21Musical dance or something? That's what I'm imagining, OK.
- 40:24But then just some. Like old old attire, old attire
- 40:28in peasant clothes. What if they were hitting moves?
- 40:30That are like moves now they. Were doing the whip and the.
- 40:34Nae, nae. Yeah.
- 40:34And then like, that's so crazy. They were doing the Duggy.
- 40:39They were, they were dugging and they were shuffling.
- 40:42They were doing the jerk. They were.
- 40:44They were jerking jerk. Yeah, they were doing all.
- 40:46That stuff before we even knew they were skipping they.
- 40:49Were hopping. They were dropping it like it's
- 40:51hot because they were. They were dropping.
- 40:53Like it's hot like. Dead.
- 40:56The final theory. Was that the dancers were cursed
- 40:58by Saint Vitus? Saint Vitus.
- 41:02Is a Catholic priest who people in the Middle Ages believe that
- 41:05he had the power to curse people with dance.
- 41:08It is important to. Note that in the years leading
- 41:11up to this epidemic, the. Epidemic of dance.
- 41:15That area of. Strasburg had been suffering
- 41:18with actual disease and famine. Researchers looking back at this
- 41:22event believe that the trying times mixed with already
- 41:24established superstitions was the tipping point in the
- 41:27hysteria. A big dance mic.
- 41:33A dance mic took that some time, of course.
- 41:38Saint Vitus had cursed everyone. We're already suffering famine
- 41:42and disease, so in 1518 it just kind of made sense.
- 41:46Like we were already not eating. Everyone is sick.
- 41:50Well, the poor are getting poorer.
- 41:53Of. Course, we're stuck.
- 41:53Dancing because we've been cursed by a Catholic St.
- 41:56Yep. Sounds like it.
- 41:58Sounds like it. Was intentional wipeout?
- 42:01Believing that it indeed was a curse, dancers were taken on a
- 42:05three day trip to a mountain top shrine and it made to pray for
- 42:09forgiveness and freedom from the dancing curse.
- 42:12Those in charge. Outlaw dancing at any music
- 42:15until September in order to stop the pandemonium.
- 42:18They said we got to get this shit figured out by September.
- 42:20Yeah, we're losing our hot girl summer to this.
- 42:24Literally OK, Imagine being. Forced to pray.
- 42:28As a final. Like Hail Mary.
- 42:29Like please, please stop me from dancing.
- 42:31Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's kind of giving.
- 42:34Exorcism, right? It sounds like they're.
- 42:36Reaching at everything and anything to just make it stop.
- 42:41Also, what's really funny? With the music band is it was
- 42:43mostly for drums because drums give you more of a beat to dance
- 42:49to and they still want to have music at church so they said
- 42:52strings are fine but no drums. No drums at.
- 42:55The end of the day, they. Were still dancing to no music
- 42:58at all because they told the band to leave.
- 43:00Like we're done. We don't.
- 43:01Need your services anymore? They're still.
- 43:03Dancing. They're so dancing.
- 43:04Why are we? Paying you, Yeah.
- 43:06It is typically. Agreed that instead of a curse,
- 43:08this was a very prominent example of mass hysteria.
- 43:12As I stated previously, this community had never experienced
- 43:15such intense hardship with disease and famine.
- 43:18It's as if they manifested the curse themselves, kind of
- 43:22because they kind of anticipated the curse.
- 43:25All it took was for one shoe to drop before a crazy domino
- 43:29effect happened. It took one person, Miss Miss
- 43:32Frow, to just. Start shaking.
- 43:34A little in the streets for everything to just kind of go to
- 43:36shit and the rest were sheep. They just also believed sheep
- 43:40with good dance moves. Sheep, they can hit a.
- 43:42Bee They were hitting the sheep, the lamb.
- 43:47By. September the panic did die out.
- 43:49Allegedly, Miss Frow had been cured up at the mountain, so
- 43:54they started sending more and more dancers.
- 43:56Within a week, the dancing finally stopped.
- 44:00At its prancing. Peak the Dancing Plague of 1518.
- 44:03That's what it's called. Caused around. 15 deaths a day,
- 44:07but an accurate total of deaths is not recorded.
- 44:11This is also not the. First time something like this
- 44:13has happened about. 10. Other outbreaks were reported in
- 44:18the same area prior to this event.
- 44:22Like along the river? Like more north Yeah, same
- 44:25decades prior, similar events 'cause they all believed in this
- 44:28Catholic Saints that was cursing people to dance.
- 44:32Curse you Dancing St. 500 years later.
- 44:35We're still kind of left wondering what happened.
- 44:38Could this happen today in modern times, with a better
- 44:40understanding of psychosis and less superstition?
- 44:44I kind of doubt it. And I wonder if Gaga knew.
- 44:47This if the opening tour tour would still be dance or die, or
- 44:52instead it'd be dance. And die.
- 44:54Yeah, exactly, exactly. Dance because.
- 44:57That's going to be. The ultimate goal?
- 45:01Death by dance. Death.
- 45:02By dance and the reason I. Was so interested in this is
- 45:05it's topical. It happened in July, over 500
- 45:07years ago, but it reminds me of a book that I read a couple
- 45:11months back called Hymn to Dionysus, where that is the
- 45:14entire plot of the book, where the God Dionysus is arrives in a
- 45:20community and the only way people are kind of catching on
- 45:24to the fact that there's a God amongst them is because people
- 45:27start dancing. And partying.
- 45:31And it's uncontrollable and they can't stop.
- 45:33And it's because that's what his power is.
- 45:36It's revelry, it's celebration. But these people are going
- 45:39crazy, like they're conscious that.
- 45:41Yes, they can't stop partying and the government or.
- 45:44Were those in charge at the time?
- 45:45Whatever city it is, I don't remember if it's thieves or
- 45:48something, they're trying to like, hush it away.
- 45:51Like, no, there's no God here. We're in control.
- 45:54Because yes, they believe in. Gods, but everything that
- 45:57they're doing is still. Like corrupt.
- 46:00Corrupted government. Yeah, yeah, Like, yeah, we want
- 46:02them to keep believing in gods, but we're actually the ones in
- 46:05charge and everything is fine. And everything is fine.
- 46:07But then the main character is like, oh hey, things are being
- 46:10weird. And then it gets gay and it's so
- 46:11good. Wow.
- 46:12Because even that and ISIS. They get all domestic and they
- 46:15party. In the bedroom.
- 46:17I'm just kidding, it doesn't and I wish it did, but it doesn't
- 46:20write the fanfic. But that's what haunted me.
- 46:22This week, I mean, wow, that is so.
- 46:25Wacky, like I didn't know whether it's to like laugh or
- 46:30like be concerned that that that was a thing before it just I'm
- 46:36sure these communities are also smaller in 15-18.
- 46:38Yeah, OK. Well, 4. 100 people with a lot
- 46:40of people, that's true. That's true.
- 46:42I'm sure there's some, like small towns.
- 46:45Now I will never look at a flash mob again.
- 46:48I'd have to leave because what if the power overcomes me and I
- 46:51have to join them? You get sucked in and.
- 46:53Then you Just Dance till you die, dance till you.
- 46:56Dead. I've seen a couple.
- 46:58Flash mobs in person. In person.
- 47:00Yeah, yeah, yeah, like. At the mall like.
- 47:03Back when malls were a thing. Back when malls were a thing.
- 47:05I know. I know Dulce was a part of one.
- 47:07That makes so much sense. Probably organized it.
- 47:09I wouldn't doubt it. But yeah, I, I.
- 47:14I've never been. Encouraged to join a a flash
- 47:17mob. They're cool.
- 47:18I yeah, that's so sick. I need to be good at.
- 47:20Dancing and I'm not I've been practicing.
- 47:22I was trying to learn K pop dancing with.
- 47:25Mismatch. So I've genuinely been.
- 47:26Haunted by dance moves? That's amazing.
- 47:29And dance. That's so cool.
- 47:31Friend, thank you. That is, I can't believe that's
- 47:34a real story. And then it happened a couple.
- 47:37Times in history, It's so wild. But I mean, hey, music has the
- 47:42power. I mean, I know they didn't have
- 47:43music. Yeah, I was insane, but.
- 47:44Music just has the. Power to overtake you in in the
- 47:48same. Realm of Music Brian, last week
- 47:51I forgot to mention the biggest life changing event that I went
- 47:55through your marriage. You.
- 47:57Did that two years ago. The second.
- 47:59Biggest event that I lived. But.
- 48:04It was with the love of my life we saw the Phantom of the Opera
- 48:08at the Pantages. Wow.
- 48:10And I think I was still. So shook last week where it just
- 48:13completely slipped my mind. I just could like it didn't feel
- 48:15real. You were experiencing psychosis.
- 48:17I was experiencing psychosis without the dance but with the
- 48:21singing. But with the singing, because he
- 48:22was playing after 4th of July, he said, can you please put on
- 48:25Phantom? The like living that music being
- 48:29present for the voices and the iconic piano.
- 48:35It just it. Took me to another world I
- 48:37transcended that day. We were both shook.
- 48:40I think we were both clutching at each other's arms, like
- 48:42throughout multiple times of the show, trying to stop yourself
- 48:45from. Dancing, I understand we.
- 48:46We wanted to dance so bad but those aisles were too tiny and
- 48:50me being a bigger dude it's just impossible.
- 48:52I was already like brushing up against the person next to me
- 48:55shoulder. It was life changing.
- 48:57Like the the main cast which we got to see was outstanding and
- 49:02this is the second. 3rd. Play that I've seen, but this is
- 49:10like the first like musical, like masterpiece that I've seen.
- 49:13Big production, big production that I've seen.
- 49:14So this was life changing. I've never I, I want to go see
- 49:18it again. It was amazing.
- 49:21The Phantom of the Opera literally runs in my life right
- 49:23now, so I love that. You got to experience that
- 49:27music. They freaking love that musical.
- 49:29I love that music. They were that for Halloween.
- 49:31We were that for. Halloween.
- 49:33It was so good. Who knows?
- 49:36Who knows what this Halloween has in store for us?
- 49:39Wow. Thank you for sharing that,
- 49:41Fred, of course. Thank you, makes me happy to see

- 49:53You just see. I let me reiterate that if you
- 49:56see me just dancing, no expression in my face or just
- 49:59pain, but I'm not responding to you and I'm just dancing
- 50:02non-stop, punch me in the face, OK?
- 50:05Punch me in the stomach or the gut as far as you can with the
- 50:08Gaga set. Can I see that in writing?
- 50:11OK, if she if you don't see her signature in writing which you
- 50:14have a reference signature, I do.
- 50:16You can validate. Whether it's real and then you
- 50:18can decide to punch let me look at my.
- 50:20Documents, they're like hold up I need.
- 50:22An album? Uh huh, Uh huh.

- 50:27this episode, Jerry. Do you have a song

- 51:20recognize. Yeah, every song.

- 51:40of. Change, of course.
