- 0:04Good morning, this is the Sacramento Brief, your
- 0:08weekday roundup of overnight headlines and what's
- 0:11ahead across the city. I'm Carol, it's Thursday,
- 0:16November 27th, 2025, Thanksgiving morning. Let's
- 0:22ease into the day together. I'd regale you with
- 0:27the latest crime and chaos swirling around Sacramento.
- 0:31But today, I'm giving your nervous system and
- 0:35mine a little holiday seduction break. No sirens,
- 0:40no manhunts, no machetes. Just a smooth, thankful
- 0:45moment to breathe. Sip something warm and remember,
- 0:48we are human. And speaking of gratitude, Sacramento
- 0:52has given us plenty of reason to feel it this
- 0:55year. From neighbors stepping up for one another
- 0:59to small acts of kindness tucked behind the big
- 1:02headlines. There's a whole lot of quiet good
- 1:06going on in this city. Across the city this week,
- 1:10volunteers have been packing meal boxes at the
- 1:13Sacramento Food Bank. Churches and community
- 1:16centers have been serving up hot plates to anyone
- 1:19in need. And neighbors have been checking in
- 1:22on the unhoused as well as their shut -in neighbors
- 1:26because we know at this time of year, we don't
- 1:30want to be left alone. And whether you're gathering
- 1:32with family today, working a holiday shift, or
- 1:36just taking a quiet moment for yourself. I'm
- 1:39thankful you're here. I'm thankful for the community
- 1:43that always shows up when it counts. I hope you
- 1:47relax and enjoy your day. We can catch up on
- 1:52the heavy stuff tomorrow. Here's what's rolling
- 1:56around Sacramento today. Most federal, city,
- 2:01and county offices are closed today, with many

- 2:28to drive fully autonomous vehicles in more of
- 2:32the golden state that footprint includes northern
- 2:36california and eastward towards the sacramento
- 2:39region bottom line you may see a waymo driverless
- 2:44vehicle on local roads while the company still
- 2:48needs to parse out what's going on before they
- 2:51can fully charge passengers in these zones This
- 2:56marks a major step towards bringing self -driving
- 2:59rides to our hometown. In weather, we're starting
- 3:05off with that thick fog across the valley. So
- 3:08if you're traveling, give yourself a little extra
- 3:10time. Skies should clear by midday with a high
- 3:14around 57. And we look to cool off quickly into
- 3:18the evening in the low 40s with light winds and
- 3:22dry conditions. but it's a calm backdrop for
- 3:26the holiday. If you're looking to get out for
- 3:30a bit, here's a few little local options. The
