Today we're going to talk about places in the city. Two very useful ones: ሆስፒታል and ቤተ መጻሕፍት. Luna: Hospital and library! I think I've heard ሆስፒታል before — it sounds like 'hospital'. Lucas: Good ear. ሆስፒታል is borrowed from English, so it's easy to remember. Listen: ሆስፒታል. Luna: ሆስፒታል. Lucas: Great. Now ቤተ መጻሕፍት — that's library. It's made of two words: ቤት meaning house, and መጻሕፍት meaning books. So literally 'house of books'. Luna: Aww, that's cute. ቤተ መጻሕፍት. Lucas: Perfect. Now let's learn how to ask where they are. 'Where is the hospital?' is ሆስፒታሉ የት ነው? Luna: ሆስፒታሉ የት ነው? Lucas: Exactly. And 'where is the library?' — ቤተ መጻሕፍቱ የት ነው? Luna: ቤተ መጻሕፍቱ የት ነው? Lucas: You're a natural. Now let's say you are going somewhere. 'I am going to the library' is ወደ ቤተ መጻሕፍት እሄዳለሁ. Luna: ወደ ቤተ መጻሕፍት እሄዳለሁ. That's a mouthful! Lucas: Take it slowly: ወደ ቤተ መጻሕፍት እሄዳለሁ. Luna: ወደ ቤተ መጻሕፍት እሄዳለሁ. Lucas: Beautiful. Now a little scene. Imagine you're walking and someone asks where the hospital is. Luna: ሆስፒታሉ የት ነው? Lucas: And you reply: እዚህ ነው — it's here.
