- 0:19Speaker 1: It is time you leave your worries outside and laugh
- 0:23Speaker 1: with us inside the treehouse. I'm Daniel Malley, along with
- 0:27Speaker 1: Trey Trenholm and Raj Sharma. Today is Thursday, April twenty fourth,
- 0:34Speaker 1: two thousand and five. Trey, If you don't mind, I'd
- 0:40Speaker 1: like to quote you from earlier this week, just when
- 0:45Speaker 1: you thought it was gonna be a boring week, the
- 0:47Speaker 1: pope dies.
- 0:49Speaker 2: You can get a conclave.
- 0:51Speaker 1: I'm gonna skirt it up. Yeah, just when you think
- 0:54Speaker 1: it's gonna be a boring week, we get a conclave. Well,
- 1:00Speaker 1: I forgot that. There's you know, there's the eventual conclave,
- 1:05Speaker 1: which is it's all the cardinals of the Catholic Church
- 1:10Speaker 1: all come together into one room. They get locked inside
- 1:13Speaker 1: of it and they have to decide on who the
- 1:15Speaker 1: new Pope is going to be. But before and then
- 1:19Speaker 1: we all start watching Chimney smoke like crazy. But before
- 1:22Speaker 1: all that happens, I forgot about all the other traditions
- 1:27Speaker 1: that take place. Where where did it go here? It is?
- 1:37Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a lot of ancient traditions that really seemed
- 1:45Speaker 2: to be redundant at this point because of modern technology,
- 1:48Speaker 2: but they still do them.
- 1:50Speaker 1: For example, with the death of Pope Francis. We're learning
- 1:55Speaker 1: about the selection of a new pope, but there are
- 1:58Speaker 1: also some very interesting things they do with the dead pope.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Historic rites and rituals are performed after the death of
- 2:06Speaker 1: a pope, including three blows to the head with a
- 2:10Speaker 1: silver hammer. Well they say it's supposed to be three
- 2:15Speaker 1: gentle taps on the forehead, but the silver hammer part
- 2:19Speaker 1: is accurate. And I know what you're thinking. Are they
- 2:23Speaker 1: checking to see if anyone's home? Is this some really
- 2:28Speaker 1: weird Catholic version of a werewolf test? It's actually the former.
- 2:36Speaker 1: They're making sure he's dead. Look, I like traditions, you know,
- 2:45Speaker 1: I like routine, but I think that's one that you know, Like,
- 2:52Speaker 1: like you said, Trey, technology exists that you can find
- 2:55Speaker 1: out if there's anyone still at home inside the You
- 3:01Speaker 1: don't need to use the silver hammer method, although it
- 3:05Speaker 1: is very entertaining.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Well it also it also the other interesting thing about
- 3:11Speaker 2: it is when they're doing that, they use his first
- 3:14Speaker 2: name now, so he's been going by Pope Francis for
- 3:20Speaker 2: it since eleven years, So now they go pack or hey,
- 3:28Speaker 2: you in there.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Frank, Frank, you in there? Frank?
- 3:35Speaker 3: What if you're a What if you're a really heavy
- 3:37Speaker 3: sleeper and the three taps.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Don't work, well, that's when you, you know, the strength
- 3:42Speaker 1: test at the arcade or or at the state fair
- 3:46Speaker 1: with the really big hammer. Frank in there, Hey, look,
- 3:52Speaker 1: high score, I get a free turkey leg Frank, wake
- 3:57Speaker 1: up the lady in here.
- 4:04Speaker 3: If he's like, how long have you been? How long
- 4:06Speaker 3: have I been out?
- 4:12Speaker 1: What a miss? No, you're right, yeah, they actually uh,
- 4:21Speaker 1: they tap him on the head. Certain rights and rituals
- 4:25Speaker 1: follow the death of a pope, including tapping his forehead
- 4:28Speaker 1: with a silver hammer. It is the carme lingo's duty
- 4:31Speaker 1: to perform the right, administering three gentle taps on the
- 4:40Speaker 1: pope's forehead and calling him by his first name. It's
- 4:43Speaker 1: the traditional way of making sure a pope has died.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Thank you, Thank you Catholicism for keeping certain traditions alive.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Did they air that, by the way, have they done
- 4:58Speaker 1: that test? Or is that the last thing they do
- 5:00Speaker 1: before they take it out of lying in the state. Oh?
- 5:05Speaker 2: No, this is done in his like typically the pontiff
- 5:09Speaker 2: eyes in his quarters and so it's it's all done
- 5:12Speaker 2: while he's in.
- 5:13Speaker 1: His bed and behind closed doors like hind closed doors.
- 5:17Speaker 2: I want to watch that, the breaking of the seal.
- 5:20Speaker 1: The I want to see the tapping of the pope
- 5:25Speaker 1: carry that live on cable news.
- 5:29Speaker 3: They got to crush his ring, like the ring that
- 5:31Speaker 3: he the papal ring that hes.
- 5:32Speaker 2: They have to break it cruse, you just have to
- 5:35Speaker 2: break it. Then melted down to a new one. But
- 5:40Speaker 2: this pope. Typically those are gold rings. This one shows
- 5:44Speaker 2: sterling silver, which a may prove harder to break.
- 5:49Speaker 1: But uh, which also served as another test that he
- 5:52Speaker 1: was in fact not a werewolf.
- 5:55Speaker 3: Yes, but all these all these things happened for a reason.
- 6:00Speaker 3: The tapping of the head that had to happen for
- 6:02Speaker 3: a reason, Like they thought someone was dead.
- 6:06Speaker 1: There was one time some dude woke up. They're like, okay, yeah, yeah,
- 6:12Speaker 1: did you got to start tapping these guys?
- 6:14Speaker 3: You know, they're like they're putting the holy water on
- 6:17Speaker 3: them and it gets splashed in the and it's like, hey,
- 6:18Speaker 3: what's going on? We thought you were dead?
- 6:22Speaker 2: Oh?
- 6:22Speaker 1: Isn't that the old uh the old grave uh, like
- 6:26Speaker 1: the old grave worker type thing and where a body
- 6:32Speaker 1: gets buried and then they tie a string or something
- 6:35Speaker 1: somewhere in the hole and then there's a bell that
- 6:37Speaker 1: sits on top of the grave for just in case
- 6:40Speaker 1: they wake up after being buried and be like little
- 6:43Speaker 1: hell please. Yeah.
- 6:45Speaker 3: And there have been instances. I believe there was like
- 6:47Speaker 3: one or two where the bell rung and they had
- 6:51Speaker 3: to get this person out of the ground.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Another ritual sees the destruction of a papal symbol known
- 7:01Speaker 1: as the annulus piscatoris or episcatory ring. I feel like
- 7:06Speaker 1: they should have renamed that. But whatever. The ring represents
- 7:09Speaker 1: the first Pope, Saint Peter, who was a fisherman. Usually
- 7:12Speaker 1: the remnants of the destroyed ring are used to make
- 7:15Speaker 1: a new one for a late pope's successor. This is
- 7:19Speaker 1: just lord of the ring stuff.
- 7:20Speaker 3: Now that's as precious.
- 7:31Speaker 1: When the late Pope Francis assumed the papacy, is it
- 7:34Speaker 1: papacy papacy, Papa papacy. In twenty thirteen, he opted for
- 7:40Speaker 1: a ring made of gilded silver rather than the traditional
- 7:43Speaker 1: ring of yellow gold. Just like you said, there tree,
- 7:45Speaker 1: here you go. This right includes certain steps leading up
- 7:49Speaker 1: to the rings being destroyed. See this is lord of
- 7:51Speaker 1: the Rings. I feel like this Pope's death is being
- 7:54Speaker 1: directed by Peter Jackson be really interesting though, if the
- 8:02Speaker 1: Pope gets to the gates and Saint Peter's St. Peter's
- 8:06Speaker 1: standing there with a big staff and says you shall
- 8:08Speaker 1: not pass, and would he be shocked, like really, not
- 8:16Speaker 1: even me. The destruction symbolizes the end of a pope's rule,
- 8:20Speaker 1: with the creation of a new ring representing a new pope,
- 8:26Speaker 1: assuming the papacy the new ring to rule them all
- 8:29Speaker 1: is my assumption.
- 8:31Speaker 2: That's I mean, it's, you know, the the the person
- 8:38Speaker 2: you want to be pope is the person who doesn't
- 8:40Speaker 2: want to be pope. And but the problem is, I
- 8:44Speaker 2: mean it's it's as much as they want to think
- 8:46Speaker 2: it's a holy process, I mean, it's a bunch of
- 8:50Speaker 2: you know, power hungry cardinals that all, you know, jockeying
- 8:55Speaker 2: for position.
- 8:56Speaker 1: To roomful the dude swearing up down left rights. I
- 9:00Speaker 1: don't want to beat a pulp not at all, or no, no, no,
- 9:03Speaker 1: what to all right? One of you's got at least
- 9:05Speaker 1: say yes, well, and that you've got to say all right,
- 9:08Speaker 1: I'll do it.
- 9:09Speaker 2: That That is the fascinating thing. The thing about Pope
- 9:11Speaker 2: Francis is he came, like to the story, he was
- 9:18Speaker 2: in the process of resigning when Benedict and he wanted
- 9:23Speaker 2: to be transferred back to it from Argentina. I believe
- 9:28Speaker 2: he wanted to be you know, basically demoted and not
- 9:32Speaker 2: be a cardinal anymore, or or basically go back to
- 9:34Speaker 2: Argentina when Benedict was resigning and Benedict was like, you know,
- 9:38Speaker 2: you need to be pope and he didn't want it.
- 9:42Speaker 1: See that tells me that the three taps to the
- 9:44Speaker 1: forehead are not gentle taps. He knows he's going to
- 9:48Speaker 1: get smacked in the head with a silver hammer three
- 9:50Speaker 1: times and he doesn't want to have to endure that.
- 9:57Speaker 3: I think, you know, he'll be dead. That's the It's
- 10:02Speaker 3: just one of those like Well was saying, like some
- 10:05Speaker 3: people that that's why they vote. That's why they vote,
- 10:08Speaker 3: because you don't have a choice. Then, so if if
- 10:10Speaker 3: it's a unanimous vote, then it's you. Even if you
- 10:13Speaker 3: don't want it.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Even even if you're trying to take the Nazi way
- 10:17Speaker 1: out and run to South America, the Catholic Church will
- 10:21Speaker 1: find you. And you know what, maybe maybe the three
- 10:24Speaker 1: smacks to the head with the silver hammer. Look, it
- 10:27Speaker 1: clearly works. Maybe it's not only a tool to see
- 10:31Speaker 1: Maybe it's not only a test to see if you
- 10:34Speaker 1: are in fact dead, but if you wake up after
- 10:37Speaker 1: the first or second, then then you get two more,
- 10:40Speaker 1: just to make sure the job is finished. Because we've
- 10:42Speaker 1: already started up the smoke and the fire and we're
- 10:45Speaker 1: already printing out little pieces of paper for ballots.
- 10:49Speaker 2: I mean, maybe we're overthinking it. Maybe they just like
- 10:53Speaker 2: the game of.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Whack a Pope, the best of the State Fair games.
- 11:04Speaker 4: You're in the treehouse. Listen us online on a freehouse on.

- 11:25Speaker 1: We got a recent reminder, Daniel that storm season is
- 11:28Speaker 1: no longer one season out of four. It is year
- 11:31Speaker 1: round in North Texas and a severe storm can pop
- 11:35Speaker 1: up anytime, and that means at any moment you may
- 11:38Speaker 1: have some roof damage.
- 11:40Speaker 5: Yeah, Dan, we stopped being uh, you know, springtime storms
- 11:45Speaker 5: years ago and so now and I try to educate
- 11:48Speaker 5: everybody that you shouldn't protect your roof from the storms.
- 11:51Speaker 5: You should protect your roof because it's the thing that
- 11:54Speaker 5: you need to do. Where we live. We've all made
- 11:56Speaker 5: a conscious decision about leott living here in Texas and
- 12:00Speaker 5: exactly the DFW metroplex. We have our strong storms, but
- 12:04Speaker 5: we also have extreme temperatures, we have extreme wins, we
- 12:08Speaker 5: have all kinds of things that our homes take a
- 12:10Speaker 5: beating on. So you really need to protect your roof
- 12:12Speaker 5: year round because it's the right thing to do for
- 12:14Speaker 5: your home. And so it's really easy. You call us out,
- 12:17Speaker 5: We come out, We inspect your roof. If you don't
- 12:19Speaker 5: need anything, we high five each other. We say see
- 12:22Speaker 5: you next year. If you do, we take some pictures,
- 12:25Speaker 5: we take some measurements. We show you what your home needs.
- 12:28Speaker 5: It may not be a whole roof, it may be
- 12:30Speaker 5: just some small repairs that will extend your roof life.
- 12:34Speaker 5: But when you let small things go on your home,
- 12:36Speaker 5: they always turn into larger and that's where it goes
- 12:39Speaker 5: down here really fast. So all you have to do
- 12:42Speaker 5: gives a shout, We'll come out, We'll give you an
- 12:44Speaker 5: honest opinion about it, and then you can make a decision.

- 13:40Speaker 1: This is the Treehouse Show. I'm Daniel Maley along with
- 13:42Speaker 1: Trey Trenholm and Raj Sharma. Today is Thursday, April twenty fourth,
- 13:47Speaker 1: twenty twenty five. Do you guys ever miss your school days?
- 13:54Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah?
- 13:56Speaker 1: What about what about substitute teacher school days? Weren't those
- 14:01Speaker 1: the best when they rolled in that television? Oh god? Yeah,
- 14:06Speaker 1: those days are obviously gone for the three of us,
- 14:09Speaker 1: But that doesn't mean substitute teacher days aren't still fun.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Like this substitute teacher day in Florida. It was truly
- 14:19Speaker 1: action packed. A former substitute teacher in Florida. That should
- 14:27Speaker 1: give you a pretty big clue right there. A former
- 14:29Speaker 1: substitute teacher in Florida is facing felony charge just after
- 14:33Speaker 1: she allegedly encouraged two middle school students to fight. Taysha
- 14:40Speaker 1: Holmes is twenty. She was arrested by. Seems kind of
- 14:44Speaker 1: young for a substitute teacher, doesn't it.
- 14:48Speaker 3: The departments are weird because it's I think you have
- 14:51Speaker 3: to have thirty hours and a like a CEA average
- 14:56Speaker 3: if you want to just be a substitute.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Okay, not sure what the requirements are in Florida, but
- 15:03Speaker 1: that sounds like Texas stuff. Maybe I would assume similar anyway.
- 15:07Speaker 1: Taja Holmes was arrested by Hendry County School Resource officers
- 15:11Speaker 1: on April sixteenth after a parent showed officials a video
- 15:14Speaker 1: on her child's cell phone of an n class altercation
- 15:17Speaker 1: between two students the day before. The censored video appeared
- 15:21Speaker 1: to show Homes, the substitute teacher, holding back one student
- 15:25Speaker 1: who was being taunted by another. As both students continue
- 15:28Speaker 1: to argue, Homes can be heard telling them to deal
- 15:31Speaker 1: with their issues outside of school at the park. One
- 15:36Speaker 1: of the kids wasn't even a student in the class.
- 15:41Speaker 1: I had this kid get in here. That part doesn't
- 15:44Speaker 1: seem to come up again in the story. One of
- 15:47Speaker 1: the kids wasn't a student in the class. Holmes had
- 15:52Speaker 1: requested that the front desk send the student who wasn't
- 15:55Speaker 1: even in the class into her classroom. Although it's unclear
- 15:58Speaker 1: why now they're saying they're really taken aback by the
- 16:02Speaker 1: behavior of what we saw, what we heard on this video.
- 16:04Speaker 1: This is according to police department spokesperson. At one point,
- 16:08Speaker 1: she tells the students in one of the videos that
- 16:10Speaker 1: they need to take it outside or take it off
- 16:13Speaker 1: school campus and take it to the park. That the
- 16:16Speaker 1: police captain went on to say, you don't encourage children
- 16:20Speaker 1: to fight. Yeah, you do. I for one give the
- 16:27Speaker 1: teacher credit. She did not break the first rule of
- 16:29Speaker 1: student fight club, which is, of course you do not
- 16:35Speaker 1: talk about student fight club. I mean, how it was
- 16:38Speaker 1: video evidence that took her down. I mean, Tyler Durden
- 16:41Speaker 1: would be proud. The district says she passed background checks
- 16:49Speaker 1: and has been working in the district for the past
- 16:51Speaker 1: two years, so that means conceivably. She started working at
- 16:56Speaker 1: the district when she was eighteen. The superintendent hold the
- 17:00Speaker 1: local news that the district is continuing to add safety
- 17:03Speaker 1: layers to our schools, had said that Holmes has since
- 17:06Speaker 1: been fired and banned from all Hendry County schools.
- 17:12Speaker 3: That's so unfortunate. Like that's an old that's an old saying,
- 17:16Speaker 3: Like take it to the yard. Like that's an old
- 17:18Speaker 3: that's an old saying. And that's what she did. She said,
- 17:20Speaker 3: don't do this in my class, take it outside. Yeah,
- 17:24Speaker 3: I'm okay with that.
- 17:26Speaker 1: You know what I am too. But the truly alarming
- 17:28Speaker 1: thing is when we were in school, the substitute teacher
- 17:31Speaker 1: would roll into television with this substitute teacher, she rolled
- 17:35Speaker 1: in the bully who doesn't even go to the school,
- 17:38Speaker 1: isn't even in the class, to confront the kid, and
- 17:41Speaker 1: then had the gall to say, y'all need to take
- 17:43Speaker 1: this outside.
- 17:46Speaker 3: Where did she find that kid?
- 17:49Speaker 1: I'm wondering did they know each other? Was I mean,
- 17:52Speaker 1: there's so many questions with this story.
- 17:54Speaker 2: I mean sounds like she was running a you know,
- 17:58Speaker 2: undercover fight club, that she had money, she had money
- 18:02Speaker 2: on the on the outside kid, that she did she
- 18:04Speaker 2: had money on the ring.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Yeah, we have like a Florida version of Fight Club
- 18:11Speaker 1: which turns into basically a mashup of student fight Club
- 18:15Speaker 1: and student blood Sport at the Kumi te at the Park.
- 18:19Speaker 2: I'm sure there's a gator in there somewhere.
- 18:26Speaker 1: It's two middle school students and a gator. Can we
- 18:31Speaker 1: put that on TV? Right after the smacking of the
- 18:34Speaker 1: pope with a hammer? ESPN The oo is going to
- 18:38Speaker 1: be great this weekend.

- 19:32Speaker 1: Dan along with Tray and Raj. Today is Thursday, April
- 19:36Speaker 1: twenty fourth, twoenty twenty five. How do you know that
- 19:41Speaker 1: you had a good Easter? I'll tell you how these
- 19:45Speaker 1: Texas residents got a surprise Easter gift packages at Cocaine
- 19:50Speaker 1: washed up on their coastline. Yeah, party time. The packages
- 19:56Speaker 1: were reportedly tossed into the ocean by smugglers hoping to
- 19:59Speaker 1: evade CA during a drug raid. Police urged the public
- 20:03Speaker 1: to contact police immediately if they find anything unusual during
- 20:07Speaker 1: their beach visits. Meanwhile, upon hearing the news, raj Is
- 20:10Speaker 1: Alma Mater Texas State students have declared spring break too
- 20:15Speaker 1: cocaine boogaloo. All right, Yeah, there might be another possibility
- 20:24Speaker 1: to this story and might not have been panicked drug smugglers.
- 20:28Speaker 1: You know, maybe some countries just celebrate Easter differently. Colombian
- 20:32Speaker 1: kids might not have the Easter bunny. Maybe they have
- 20:34Speaker 1: Peter cocaine tail and maybe instead of Easter egg hunts,
- 20:39Speaker 1: maybe they have eight ball searches. Just trying to keep
- 20:41Speaker 1: an open mind.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Maybe it's the Galveston Chamber of Commerce just going, you know,
- 20:49Speaker 2: come enjoy our dirty ass water. But you know, you
- 20:51Speaker 2: might walk away with kelo.
- 20:54Speaker 1: You might. And let's be honest, Texas beaches are not
- 20:59Speaker 1: exactly up there as far as the tourism demand like
- 21:03Speaker 1: other American beaches they they I mean, have you ever
- 21:08Speaker 1: seen advertisements for the Texas coast. It's not close ups
- 21:14Speaker 1: of the beach like in Florida or what is it,
- 21:19Speaker 1: Orange Beach, whatever it is. In Alabama, they'll have nice
- 21:23Speaker 1: pretty photos and videos of up close of the sand
- 21:27Speaker 1: and the water. In Texas, it's usually like a drone
- 21:30Speaker 1: shot a mile high that just shows sand and water.
- 21:34Speaker 1: It's like they we got it, but it's not very pretty,
- 21:37Speaker 1: but it's there. That's kind of it's I don't know
- 21:42Speaker 1: what the Texas beach you know slogan is for tourism,
- 21:46Speaker 1: but it's got to be up there with the one
- 21:48Speaker 1: from the eighties. Oklahoma is okay? Texas beaches, Yes.
- 21:54Speaker 2: We have some.
- 21:57Speaker 1: I mean, Florida has some beautiful beaches with white sand
- 22:00Speaker 1: and greenish turn turquoise ish waters. You're right, Trey, I mean,
- 22:08Speaker 1: come to the coast. You might get a kilo of
- 22:10Speaker 1: drugs to sell. You might, you might, you might, you
- 22:12Speaker 1: might make it rich.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Come for the beach, stay for the blow.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Yeah, you don't even need the metal detector. You don't
- 22:21Speaker 1: have to look like a nerd. You can actually just
- 22:23Speaker 1: comb the beach and like, look at you what I found?
- 22:26Speaker 3: Texas beaches. You have no idea what our street value is.
- 22:32Speaker 1: And since and since the beaches are not white powdery sand,
- 22:35Speaker 1: you won't be able to see the cocaine very clearly.
- 22:43Speaker 1: The problem is it's Texas and you've got to get
- 22:45Speaker 1: there before Michael Irvin and any other NFL players here
- 22:48Speaker 1: about it.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Come to the beach. It's like living living living a
- 22:54Speaker 2: scratch off, get a shark bite, might get a k.
- 23:01Speaker 1: You might get both. In the story, I saw one
- 23:08Speaker 1: of the packages that had supposedly washed up on the beach.
- 23:12Speaker 1: It's big. I mean, this is this is not like
- 23:17Speaker 1: you know, this is not like a random party in
- 23:20Speaker 1: Addison on a on a Thursday night type of thing.
- 23:22Speaker 1: I mean, this is It's not an eight ball No, no,
- 23:26Speaker 1: this is like it's the whole table. Yeah, it's the
- 23:29Speaker 1: whole table. And yeah, it absolutely is. That is outstanding.
- 23:37Speaker 1: This is not the first time packages of cocaine have
- 23:39Speaker 1: washed up on the shores of coastal communities. Last year,
- 23:42Speaker 1: more than one hundred pounds of narcotics were discovered along
- 23:46Speaker 1: Florida's shores in the wake of Hurricane Debbie. See that's
- 23:50Speaker 1: one way a hurricane is not so bad, because you
- 23:54Speaker 1: go outside and your house might be gone, but it
- 23:56Speaker 1: might have been replaced by a whole lot of cocaine.
- 24:00Speaker 3: Yeah, then you sell the cocaine and you build a
- 24:02Speaker 3: new house.
- 24:02Speaker 2: I wonder if this is has sparked a industry of
- 24:08Speaker 2: you know, especially post storm people rushing down to the
- 24:11Speaker 2: beaches to see if they can find drugs better than
- 24:15Speaker 2: a metal detector.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Yes, you don't have to look like a nerd with
- 24:18Speaker 1: a metal detector. You can go down there, like what
- 24:21Speaker 1: are the Japanese sandgarden things that you're supposed to keep
- 24:24Speaker 1: on your desk. You just go down there with like
- 24:25Speaker 1: a big, big rake and you just do that and
- 24:28Speaker 1: like look here, here, there's what I found.
- 24:31Speaker 3: And who do you sell it? Like, okay, let's see
- 24:34Speaker 3: you do pick up a kilo of cocaine?
- 24:36Speaker 2: Uh huh, what do you do?
- 24:37Speaker 3: I mean you and you don't do cocaine because if
- 24:41Speaker 3: you do cocaine, you're set for a while, you're solid. Yeah,
- 24:46Speaker 3: but who do you sell it to?
- 24:48Speaker 1: Here's what you do if you love drugs, if you
- 24:52Speaker 1: love cocaine and you find a huge, huge shipment of
- 24:56Speaker 1: it that has washed up on the Texas coast, you
- 25:00Speaker 1: take it to Brenham, Texas, which is home to blue
- 25:02Speaker 1: Bell because blue Bell has the slogan we eat all
- 25:06Speaker 1: we can and we sell the rest. Use the same
- 25:09Speaker 1: mentality with your drugs. Okay, I snored all I could
- 25:15Speaker 1: and you can have the red all the rest also
- 25:18Speaker 1: would make a hell of an interesting flavor out of
- 25:21Speaker 1: blue Bell. I don't know what it is on the
- 25:26Speaker 1: top of my head, but it's gonna.
- 25:27Speaker 3: Be fun confetti cocaine. Un like confetti cake cocaine flavor paths,
- 25:37Speaker 3: that's always a half pine of partying.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Blowberry.
- 25:44Speaker 1: There it is. That'll due.

- 26:34Speaker 1: That's YouTube dot com slash at Treehouse on Air. Treehouse
- 26:37Speaker 1: TV is on. This is the Treehouse Show. I'm Dan,
- 26:41Speaker 1: He's Trey. That is Raj. Today is Thursday, April twenty fourth,
- 26:46Speaker 1: twenty twenty five. I saw something alarming this morning and
- 26:50Speaker 1: I realized, yep, I should probably share that with the
- 26:53Speaker 1: guys and everyone here inside the treehouse. Are you guys
- 27:02Speaker 1: familiar with the video game slash television show The Last
- 27:06Speaker 1: of Us?
- 27:08Speaker 2: Yeah? Yes, fact I just started watching season two last night.
- 27:12Speaker 1: All right, good, well, uh let's see. Hang on a second,
- 27:20Speaker 1: there is I need to find my bleep here.
- 27:24Speaker 3: Uh.
- 27:24Speaker 1: Here's something that should absolutely scare the out of you.
- 27:28Speaker 1: The science behind the Last of Us is real. The
- 27:33Speaker 1: wildly successful video game and hit TV show is based
- 27:36Speaker 1: on actual science and we have proof. Okay, hang on
- 27:43Speaker 1: a second. When you show you something very, very troubling.
- 27:49Speaker 8: Across something truly incredible. Tonight in front of me is
- 27:53Speaker 8: a transula that, unfortunately for it, has become infected by
- 27:56Speaker 8: forty steps.
- 27:59Speaker 1: So Raj and you have not seen or played The
- 28:01Speaker 1: Last of Us. It's a zombie a post apocalyptic movie, right,
- 28:06Speaker 1: but it's not traditional zombies, and zombies that are made
- 28:08Speaker 1: out of fungus spores from the fungus known as cortyceps.
- 28:12Speaker 1: And in the show, it is very freaky looking because
- 28:16Speaker 1: it's basically zombies that got mushroom stems and stuff popping
- 28:20Speaker 1: out of them. So it's very freaky. That's a real thing,
- 28:25Speaker 1: and this is proof of it, because this is a
- 28:28Speaker 1: guy in a jungle somewhere who has found courtceps that
- 28:33Speaker 1: has taken over a tarantula and killed it. And just
- 28:37Speaker 1: like you see in the television show and in the
- 28:38Speaker 1: video game, the courtceps sprouts are popping out of it
- 28:43Speaker 1: to spread the deadly fungus. Sorr, here we go.
- 28:46Speaker 8: Bumbled across something truly incredible. Tonight. In front of me
- 28:50Speaker 8: is a transula that, unfortunately for it, has become infected
- 28:53Speaker 8: by cordyceps. Now, for those of you who don't know
- 28:55Speaker 8: what Cordyceps says, this is the zombie fungus that's the
- 28:59Speaker 8: inspiration for the hit video game and TV show The
- 29:01Speaker 8: Last of Us. And well, this unfortunate transula is a
- 29:05Speaker 8: character in his own movie Here Tonight. Now he was
- 29:08Speaker 8: infected by this fungus and it's Gover's nervous system and
- 29:12Speaker 8: forced him to come to this location. And then as
- 29:15Speaker 8: he died, the fungus sprouted out of his body, allowing
- 29:18Speaker 8: the spores to spread to another unsuspecting transula. And this
- 29:22Speaker 8: is actually a very rare species of cordisaps. We rarely
- 29:25Speaker 8: encounter trenschills like this, and when I say species of cordyspps,
- 29:29Speaker 8: it's true. Each group of invertebrates has their own species
- 29:33Speaker 8: of Cordyceps which infects them. So this is truly horrific
- 29:37Speaker 8: but also incredible thing for our team to have found tonight.
- 29:41Speaker 1: And that guy is Chris Kittolap. He's the head field
- 29:45Speaker 1: research coordinator for Wilderness International. And that's his head right
- 29:50Speaker 1: there next to that fun guy sports viewing tarantula, sucking
- 29:53Speaker 1: it all in.
- 29:57Speaker 3: It's not gonna it won't infect him, will it?
- 30:01Speaker 2: Not yet?
- 30:01Speaker 1: No? Oh, what's that tray said?
- 30:04Speaker 2: Not yet?
- 30:05Speaker 1: Not yet? But this means everything that happens in the
- 30:11Speaker 1: Last of Us could conceivably happen in real life. And
- 30:14Speaker 1: that means and that means if you want to survive,
- 30:19Speaker 1: you need to find yourself a hairy survivalist and take
- 30:21Speaker 1: his gay virginity. Granted I've only seen season one, but
- 30:25Speaker 1: that's a solid example on how to survive unless you
- 30:28Speaker 1: want to become a cannibal. But either way, you're kind
- 30:31Speaker 1: of eat some meat.
- 30:34Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a There were certain things I never needed
- 30:42Speaker 2: to see in my life.
- 30:46Speaker 1: And one of them is episode three, season one of
- 30:49Speaker 1: the Last of Us. Yeah, it's very sweet, very endearing,
- 31:01Speaker 1: lots of touching and touching.
- 31:04Speaker 2: Yeah, nick Offerman, if I had never seen I mean,
- 31:07Speaker 2: and this is not you know, there was just there's
- 31:10Speaker 2: some things I never needed to see, and Nick Offerman
- 31:12Speaker 2: kissing another guy was one of them.
- 31:14Speaker 3: It's just you know, and that's okay. So I'm lost.
- 31:19Speaker 3: That's how you saved yourself.
- 31:21Speaker 1: That's that's how. That's how two particular men in the
- 31:24Speaker 1: story at very very seemingly enjoyable lives in the in
- 31:29Speaker 1: the apocalypse one one one felt. It's pretty It's pretty
- 31:35Speaker 1: interesting when you think about it, because you have a
- 31:37Speaker 1: you have a survivalist who has his own compound and
- 31:39Speaker 1: he's by himself until a really attractive stranger falls in
- 31:43Speaker 1: his hole, and then.
- 31:48Speaker 2: We're either one of them gay at first I mean,
- 31:50Speaker 2: or is it just lack of options and eventually it happens.
- 31:53Speaker 1: I actually, So we have not started watching season two yet.
- 31:57Speaker 1: We're rewatching season one and we just rewatched that episode.
- 32:03Speaker 1: So I'll be happy to feel you in Drey, it
- 32:07Speaker 1: is fresh in her mind. Yes, but uh, the guy
- 32:14Speaker 1: that falls in the hole, uh is is gay and
- 32:18Speaker 1: the survivalist who made the hole that hadn't been filled
- 32:23Speaker 1: as a trap, had never been with a man, but
- 32:27Speaker 1: he knew he was. And then this handsome stranger I.
- 32:32Speaker 2: Thought he was married and like he lost his wife
- 32:34Speaker 2: and kids.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Now Offferman's character lived in the house with his mama,
- 32:40Speaker 1: and then he had his survivalist basement stuff, and then
- 32:43Speaker 1: mom had passed away and he had he had never
- 32:45Speaker 1: been with a dude.
- 32:47Speaker 2: And by the way, unless they figure out a way
- 32:49Speaker 2: to tie that back in, that episode was completely superfluous
- 32:52Speaker 2: to the series.
- 32:54Speaker 1: I look both times I've seen that episode and I've
- 32:58Speaker 1: been left wondering, was that in the the original video game?
- 33:04Speaker 3: Because what if It's like I listen, like the whole
- 33:10Speaker 3: thing is like gay dudes can't be infected by forty steps.
- 33:15Speaker 3: What if that's the if that baby.
- 33:17Speaker 1: That's the tie in. Yeah, I think some of us
- 33:21Speaker 1: are going to have a real hard decision to make.
- 33:27Speaker 2: But not you, Dan, I'm going to.

- 34:26Speaker 1: That is Roz Scharmer. This is the Treehouse Show. Today
- 34:30Speaker 1: is Thursday, April twenty fourth, twenty twenty five. Let's celebrate
- 34:36Speaker 1: with some birthdays. But first I had to do a
- 34:42Speaker 1: quick Google. All I did was type we were just
- 34:45Speaker 1: talking about season one, episode three of The Last of
- 34:51Speaker 1: Us right where it's is the story of Frank and Bill.
- 34:56Speaker 1: If you've seen it, you know. If you don't know,
- 34:59Speaker 1: then you've already heard more than you may or may
- 35:01Speaker 1: not have wanted to. But it is what it is.
- 35:03Speaker 1: So I went to Google to find out because even
- 35:05Speaker 1: the second time watching season one, I wondered, is it
- 35:12Speaker 1: like this in the video game or was it something
- 35:16Speaker 1: completely as they would say, you know, Inductor Nation type
- 35:21Speaker 1: of stuff. So I went to Google and just typed
- 35:24Speaker 1: in where Frank and Bill, and then I stopped to
- 35:27Speaker 1: see what the suggestions would come up to see what
- 35:29Speaker 1: other people were searching. Those suggestions were franken Bill in
- 35:35Speaker 1: the game where Frank and Bill gay? In the Game
- 35:39Speaker 1: where Frank and Bill gay? Our Frank and Billy Ocean related?
- 35:45Speaker 1: How that got in there? But it is our Frank
- 35:47Speaker 1: and Bill in the Last of Us? How long we're
- 35:49Speaker 1: frankn Build together? How old we're franken Bill when they died?
- 35:52Speaker 1: How old we're frankn Bill? How long we're franken built together?
- 35:55Speaker 1: In the Last of Us? Was Frank Bill's boyfriend? So
- 35:59Speaker 1: almost all of those people were curious, although now I'm
- 36:03Speaker 1: really curious about a Billy Ocean tie in. But to
- 36:07Speaker 1: answer the question as to whether or not Bill and
- 36:10Speaker 1: Frank were in the game, and then if the TV
- 36:13Speaker 1: show played it up or whatever, Yes, Frank and Bill
- 36:20Speaker 1: were in the game. Bill's character is implied to have
- 36:23Speaker 1: had a romantic relationship with his partner, Frank, who lived
- 36:27Speaker 1: with him in Lincoln for some time after the outbreak.
- 36:29Speaker 1: In the games, they say, we recognize that Bill is gay. However,
- 36:34Speaker 1: in the show we see how he struggled with that
- 36:37Speaker 1: and overcame it, resulting in probably one of the most
- 36:40Speaker 1: important episodes of television I've ever seen. That was according
- 36:43Speaker 1: to somebody on Reddit. In the game, they say Bill
- 36:46Speaker 1: only says he was my partner, and they also mentioned
- 36:50Speaker 1: that Ellie finds a certain magazine in Bill's trash can
- 36:56Speaker 1: or or in a basement.
- 36:57Speaker 3: Basically, Frank Ocean is a I think he is an
- 37:02Speaker 3: R and B singer or a rapper. That is, it's
- 37:05Speaker 3: implied that he's gay. Okay, so that's where the Frank
- 37:10Speaker 3: and Billy Ocean come from.
- 37:13Speaker 2: I think Frank Ocean and Frank Ocean related to Billy Ocean.
- 37:18Speaker 2: I don't know if that needs sexuality. I think people
- 37:20Speaker 2: are probably just curious.
- 37:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I think they just got wrapped up in this
- 37:23Speaker 1: one drag.
- 37:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that on collateral damage a stray.
- 37:32Speaker 1: Anyway, So now you know birthdays today inside the Treehouse,
- 37:36Speaker 1: we've got Steve Harrington on Stranger Things. The actor is
- 37:41Speaker 1: Joe Keery. He is thirty three years old today. Joe Keery,
- 37:46Speaker 1: who plays Steve Harrington on Stranger Things, thirty three today.
- 37:50Speaker 1: Another one of those great examples of old people playing
- 37:53Speaker 1: high school kids. Of course, at this point, as we've
- 37:56Speaker 1: talked about before, when Stranger Things Season five comes out,
- 38:00Speaker 1: pretty much all these kids that started out as kids
- 38:03Speaker 1: are all like in their twenties and thirties, some of
- 38:05Speaker 1: them maybe in their forties. How some of these kids
- 38:07Speaker 1: may may actually be retired, but they're still having to
- 38:10Speaker 1: play high school kids in the series. They're probably just
- 38:13Speaker 1: gonna end up having to dage them all, you know,
- 38:15Speaker 1: in post.
- 38:16Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure after the fifth season all of them
- 38:18Speaker 2: will be able to retire.
- 38:21Speaker 1: I think you're right, Although I did see that us Gatton,
- 38:27Speaker 1: Gayton Matazarro. He's the one of the stranger things kids
- 38:30Speaker 1: that had he had to messed up teeth, had the
- 38:32Speaker 1: curly hair. Okay, he just want to play Dusty or Dustin.
- 38:38Speaker 1: He is. He's just been cast in the Animal Farm
- 38:44Speaker 1: that is being produced by Andy serkis. So he just
- 38:47Speaker 1: joined a superstar studded cast that's going to be an
- 38:50Speaker 1: animated film of the George Orwell famous book Animal Farm.
- 38:55Speaker 1: Andy serkis, Glenn Close, Gayton Matazzarro's in it, Tody Harrelson
- 39:00Speaker 1: is in it, and also going to be, you know,
- 39:03Speaker 1: on the producing staff. It's a hell of a cast
- 39:06Speaker 1: they're going to have for that. If you're a or
- 39:08Speaker 1: a Weller Animal Farm fan, just there you go. Something
- 39:11Speaker 1: I saw and I'm sharing.
- 39:14Speaker 2: I don't know that anyone is going to enjoy a
- 39:16Speaker 2: modern Hollywood take on Animal Farm.
- 39:22Speaker 1: What's going to be interesting is to see how many
- 39:23Speaker 1: parents unwittingly take their children, yeah to a cartoon movie
- 39:27Speaker 1: and they're going to see some things. Yeah.
- 39:35Speaker 2: Well, if you want to know what the next Lightning
- 39:36Speaker 2: Rod will be of twenty twenty six, there you go.
- 39:38Speaker 1: Yeah, that'll be it for sure. Other birthdays today, Carly
- 39:44Speaker 1: Pearce is thirty five. Tyson Ritter, the lead singer of
- 39:47Speaker 1: the All American Rejects, is forty one. North Texas is owned.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Kelly Clarkson is forty three. Today voice judge, talk show
- 39:55Speaker 1: host and American Idol winner.
- 39:58Speaker 3: Sat and former Hyena's waitress.
- 40:02Speaker 1: That's right. I always I forgot about that, was that
- 40:06Speaker 1: the Arlington Hyens or the Dallas.
- 40:08Speaker 3: Hyenas, Arlington Hyenas, And when when she got passed to
- 40:13Speaker 3: go to Hollywood whatever, they changed the story because they
- 40:15Speaker 3: didn't want people to see her like being in a
- 40:17Speaker 3: CD night, you know, a city club with you know,
- 40:20Speaker 3: comics and drugs and.
- 40:22Speaker 1: Oka all that stuff.
- 40:23Speaker 3: Stuff. They gave her the they gave her the movie
- 40:24Speaker 3: theater thing that she had in high school.
- 40:26Speaker 1: That's so stupid. Look, uh, Hyenas Arlington, It's just a
- 40:31Speaker 1: comedy club. I lived in Arlington for many, many years.
- 40:35Speaker 1: There are way way, way worse clubs than Hyenas. I
- 40:38Speaker 1: know because I've been to them, especially the ones off
- 40:42Speaker 1: of one fifty seven in that little bit of no
- 40:44Speaker 1: man's land between fort Worth and Arlington. Yeah.
- 40:49Speaker 3: She they when she left, like she didn't even take
- 40:52Speaker 3: her last paycheck and they just taped it to the wall.
- 40:54Speaker 3: So yeah, that was pretty weld good on her.
- 40:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:00Speaker 1: From Berlissen to Hollywood, it's pretty sad if you think
- 41:08Speaker 1: about it. Like, the most you would think got a
- 41:09Speaker 1: comedy club. The most famous person to come through a
- 41:12Speaker 1: comedy club you would think would be a comedian, and
- 41:14Speaker 1: instead it turned out to be a pop singer who
- 41:16Speaker 1: just happened to be a server there.
- 41:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:23Speaker 1: Uh, let's see who else do we have? Uh, let's see.
- 41:26Speaker 1: Derek Luke is fifty one. He was the star of
- 41:29Speaker 1: Antwine Fisher. David Lindeloff is fifty two. He's the one
- 41:34Speaker 1: that created Lost. He also helped to write Star Trek,
- 41:37Speaker 1: Into Darkness, Tomorrowland and Prometheus. Rory McCann, who's the hound
- 41:43Speaker 1: on The Game of Thrones is fifty six. Cedric the
- 41:46Speaker 1: Entertainer speaking of comedians is sixty one, also sixty one.
- 41:50Speaker 1: Prolific actor Jaimin Huntshu sixty one. He's this is the
- 41:55Speaker 1: guy who's been going back and forth between DC and
- 41:59Speaker 1: Marvel for year years as an actor, So he just
- 42:02Speaker 1: goes from like DC to Marvel project back and forth.
- 42:05Speaker 6: Uh.
- 42:05Speaker 1: He was He's the Wizard in Shazam which is DC,
- 42:08Speaker 1: the Fisherman King and Aquaman which is DC, Korath in
- 42:12Speaker 1: both Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel that's Marvel. Uh.
- 42:16Speaker 1: And he was also in Gladiator, Blood Diamond and one
- 42:19Speaker 1: of the bad guys in Furious seven and one of
- 42:22Speaker 1: the leads. I believe his first film was as the
- 42:25Speaker 1: lead in Amistada Not a Bad Birthday Day. Also, uh
- 42:33Speaker 1: Raj's favorite Barbara Streisand is eighty three star of Because
- 42:42Speaker 1: I needed a bunch of.

- 43:23Speaker 1: inside the Treehouse, this is the Treehouse Show. I'm Dan,
- 43:25Speaker 1: He's Trey that ear is that there is RAJ. Today's Thursday,
- 43:30Speaker 1: April twenty fourth, twoenty twenty five. We have the NFL
- 43:35Speaker 1: Draft is tonight. Round one of the NFL Draft is tonight. Now, granted,
- 43:42Speaker 1: we're all a little biased here because we're long suffering
- 43:44Speaker 1: Cowboys fans, But unless there's a new blue chip owner
- 43:49Speaker 1: on the board, I don't know if I'm really looking
- 43:52Speaker 1: forward to the draft tonight and the Cowboys pick at.
- 43:54Speaker 2: Twelve, Yeah, they'll screw it up.
- 44:00Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure, they'll get a kicker, the one thing
- 44:06Speaker 3: we don't need, and they would spend that in the
- 44:08Speaker 3: first round.
- 44:09Speaker 1: That actually would Yeah, that would actually be a MAVs
- 44:12Speaker 1: type blunder.
- 44:13Speaker 2: I mean yeah, I think the most intriguing thing about
- 44:18Speaker 2: the draft will be where shit or Sanders goes. Yeah,
- 44:23Speaker 2: and other than that, it seemed to be a fairly
- 44:27Speaker 2: lackluster draft.
- 44:29Speaker 1: That's what I thought was interesting. I was listening, uh,
- 44:31Speaker 1: listening to our Old Buddies station, Old Buddy Gavin Spittle station,
- 44:34Speaker 1: one to five through the fan and they were they
- 44:38Speaker 1: were saying something about they were saying something similar that
- 44:42Speaker 1: most of the consensus around the NFL, at least as
- 44:45Speaker 1: far as quarterbacks are concerned, is there's not really a
- 44:48Speaker 1: great one in here. But where it is is that
- 44:53Speaker 1: Tennessee is still going to take a quarterback at number one,
- 44:56Speaker 1: which makes me think it's like, this is this is
- 44:58Speaker 1: why the NFL is so stupid. Sometimes everyone pretty much
- 45:02Speaker 1: agrees there doesn't seem to be a phenomenal quarterback in here,
- 45:05Speaker 1: but they're still gonna take one just to see, especially
- 45:11Speaker 1: when I also especially think the NFL is kind of
- 45:13Speaker 1: stupid in this regard because they don't have the greatest
- 45:17Speaker 1: track record of being right when it comes to draft picks.
- 45:22Speaker 1: I mean, look at how many quarterbacks get taken in
- 45:24Speaker 1: the first round, first couple of rounds, and how many
- 45:26Speaker 1: of them turn out to be busts. The whole Ryan
- 45:29Speaker 1: Leaf versus Peyton Manning thing. You know how many draft
- 45:31Speaker 1: experts are saying, take Ryan Leaf, there's more talent, blah
- 45:34Speaker 1: blah blah. Well, now look at those two in their careers.
- 45:38Speaker 1: Love him or hate him. Dak Prescott is a top
- 45:41Speaker 1: flight quarterback in the NFL, and he was taken in
- 45:43Speaker 1: the fourth round. He's top, he's tops, he's top flight.
- 45:50Speaker 1: I didn't say he's top two or three, or four or.
- 45:52Speaker 2: Five, top fifty percent.
- 45:56Speaker 1: Maybe definitely top fifty, easily top twenty five percent. Uh.
- 46:01Speaker 2: Tom Brady.
- 46:02Speaker 1: Tom Brady was the sixth round pick of the New
- 46:05Speaker 1: England Patriots. He is now considered to be the greatest
- 46:08Speaker 1: quarterback in the history of NF and of the NFL,
- 46:11Speaker 1: at least arguably.
- 46:13Speaker 2: I agreed. And you know, it's what everyone It's what
- 46:17Speaker 2: Jerry has always wanted. It's why you explained some of
- 46:23Speaker 2: the quarterback drafts and from Quincy Carter to that is,
- 46:27Speaker 2: he's always wanted to find that that jewel, that pearl
- 46:31Speaker 2: in the late rounds that he could go look at me.
- 46:33Speaker 2: I am so genius. I drafted this person when no
- 46:36Speaker 2: everyone else was sleeping on him.
- 46:38Speaker 1: Yeah, hang on, Quincy Carter, Dak Prescott, you think Jerry
- 46:43Speaker 1: Jones is looking for his black pearl.
- 46:46Speaker 2: I think he's looking for just the.
- 46:50Speaker 1: Yes, you might want to dig up the Pirates of
- 46:58Speaker 1: the Caribbean. See they have the inside that Melkiber doesn't.
