  Speaker 2: was asking me how I handle the different seasons in

  Speaker 2: life and how I cope with when you're having a

  Speaker 2: good season something going wrong. I just want to remind

  Speaker 2: people that the seasons in your life are just like
• 0:19
  Speaker 2: the seasons.

  Speaker 1: In the weather.
• 0:24
  Speaker 2: You don't have a full say so on what goes
• 0:26
  Speaker 2: on in a particular season. You know, like spring is
• 0:30
  Speaker 2: given a certain day where it's the official start of spring.

  Speaker 2: But you can have an official start of spring and
• 0:37
  Speaker 2: then have a frost day afterwards. You can have an
• 0:42
  Speaker 2: official start of summer and run up in the thunderstorms
• 0:47
  Speaker 2: during the summer, which defies all of your seasonal expectations.

  Speaker 2: You can have a warm day in the winter. I

  Speaker 2: was in the first time I went to Chicago, but
• 0:59
  Speaker 2: when we were talking about on the TV show Up There,

  Speaker 2: I went to Chicago in January and my wife and
• 1:06
  Speaker 2: I went and she said, I love it here. It
• 1:09
  Speaker 2: was January. It was fifty some degrees in January. She went,
• 1:14
  Speaker 2: I love it here. We ain't seen that since because
• 1:20
  Speaker 2: because Chicago went right on back to being winter. Ain't
• 1:24
  Speaker 2: no fifty up there. And so what I was saying
• 1:27
  Speaker 2: to Junior was just like the seasons in wather, so
• 1:33
  Speaker 2: go the seasons of your life. You know, you're hear
• 1:35
  Speaker 2: preachers all the time saying this is your season, but
• 1:38
  Speaker 2: don't get confused, meaning that there won't be no challenges
• 1:42
  Speaker 2: or situations within your season. Don't be confused in that,
• 1:46
  Speaker 2: because this thing called life continues for us all. You
• 1:50
  Speaker 2: may be on a good run right now, but in
• 1:53
  Speaker 2: that good run, you're gonna have to face some challenges
• 1:56
  Speaker 2: because that is just the way life goes.

  Speaker 1: Look.

  Speaker 2: I fully expect great things to happen in my life.

  Speaker 2: But when the challenges and setbacks and hardships and trials
• 2:08
  Speaker 2: come my way, I know that's a part of it.

  Speaker 2: I deal with it and I get right on back
• 2:14
  Speaker 2: to my faith. I get right on back to it.

  Speaker 2: And what I mean by that is I stay in faith.

  Speaker 2: I have become a person now, man where God has
• 2:23
  Speaker 2: really really been working with me, and he's dealing with
• 2:26
  Speaker 2: me on a certain thing right now, especially when it
• 2:29
  Speaker 2: came to forgiveness. I had to forgive somebody recently that
• 2:33
  Speaker 2: I really, really man had some ill, ill feelings towards
• 2:37
  Speaker 2: I mean, some real, real ill feelings and I had
• 2:40
  Speaker 2: to forgive that person, and so I did. It was challenging,
• 2:47
  Speaker 2: but after I did it, it was really really better
• 2:50
  Speaker 2: for me. So look like, you know, like you'll be
• 2:55
  Speaker 2: on your way, like to setting a goal, You'll be
• 2:57
  Speaker 2: on your way to achieving a goal, and you'll be
• 2:59
  Speaker 2: working on your goal and everything will be going good.

  Speaker 2: Then all of a sudden, something go wrong on the
• 3:03
  Speaker 2: route to the goal. But let me ask you something,
• 3:06
  Speaker 2: don't it always Have you ever set out to accomplish
• 3:11
  Speaker 2: something and it went just the way you want it?

  Speaker 1: I haven't. I haven't.

  Speaker 2: I've never signed a deal and I got everything I
• 3:20
  Speaker 2: asked for. I haven't signed that deal. The old guy
• 3:25
  Speaker 2: taught me something one time. He says, Steve, you know
• 3:27
  Speaker 2: what a good deal is to sign when everybody who
• 3:30
  Speaker 2: signs it hurts a little bit. I said, what do
• 3:32
  Speaker 2: you mean by that? He say, you don't get as
• 3:35
  Speaker 2: much as you want it out the deal, and they
• 3:37
  Speaker 2: pay you more than they want it to out the deal.

  Speaker 2: He said, that's a good deal. Sign it, And that
• 3:44
  Speaker 2: right there has made all the sense in the world
• 3:46
  Speaker 2: to me. Now, look, you hear about these extravagant football contracts,
• 3:51
  Speaker 2: and you know, oh, what's his name? The quarterback for
• 3:55
  Speaker 2: Kansas City, Patrick Mahone gets a half a billion dollars

  Speaker 2: and you sit there and you go, but you all
• 4:02
  Speaker 2: gotta you gotta pay attention. Now, that ain't just a
• 4:05
  Speaker 2: clean half billion. They take taxes out of NFL players checks.

  Speaker 2: That's why you don't never hear of NFL players and
• 4:12
  Speaker 2: NBA players in tax trouble because they get take taxes
• 4:15
  Speaker 2: taken out off the top. And then Patrick got a manager,
• 4:21
  Speaker 2: Patrick got an agency, Patrick got legal fees. All that
• 4:27
  Speaker 2: come out. So in that one hundred percent of your money,
• 4:31
  Speaker 2: I'm telling you right now, almost seventy percent is gone.
• 4:34
  Speaker 2: People don't understand that. It's almost seventy percent. That's gone.

  Speaker 2: Forty percent to the government, six or seven percent whatever
• 4:42
  Speaker 2: your state tax is, ten percent to your agent, because
• 4:45
  Speaker 2: that agent that cut that contract, he.

  Speaker 1: Gonna get ten, fifteen whatever that is.

  Speaker 2: You got some management, you got some agency that's getting
• 4:51
  Speaker 2: you all these commercials.

  Speaker 1: They get a cut. Come on, man, you got publicists.

  Speaker 1: Come on.

  Speaker 2: I have never signed a deal where I got everything

  Speaker 2: I wanted, But I've signed a lot of deals that

  Speaker 2: has allowed me to have a wonderful life. My theory

  Speaker 2: has always been some money is better than no money.

  Speaker 2: I had a young comedian tell me one time, man,

  Speaker 2: my fee is fifteen hundred a night. I said, okay,
• 5:14
  Speaker 2: that's cool, and then somebody offered him thirteen. I ain't
• 5:18
  Speaker 2: do it. I said why. He said, because my fee
• 5:21
  Speaker 2: is fifteen hundred. I say, but that's they cap at
• 5:24
  Speaker 2: they club is thirteen hundred. Well find two hundred more.

  Speaker 2: He didn't work that week. Now you can go tell
• 5:31
  Speaker 2: your jokes and get better and make thirteen hundred, or

  Speaker 2: you can hold on to that little ignorant mess you
• 5:37
  Speaker 2: got and get zero. It's so many things in life now.

  Speaker 2: I know I'm talking about seasons right now, but I'm

  Speaker 2: telling you that along the way in your season of prosperity,

  Speaker 2: things are still going to happen, even in your down
• 5:54
  Speaker 2: season where it's winter all over your life. I mean
• 5:57
  Speaker 2: it's blizzards and thunder storms and freezing temperatures. If you

  Speaker 2: wake up in the morning, that's a blessing. If you're
• 6:09
  Speaker 2: still healthy, that's a blessing. So see, even in your
• 6:13
  Speaker 2: darkest times, God is still right there. So deal with
• 6:18
  Speaker 2: your seasons as they come a may and understand it's
• 6:21
  Speaker 2: a thing called life and God will get you through
• 6:24
  Speaker 2: it as long as you keep in present. That's my
