- 0:50Speaker 3: Nailed it, dude. Can you guys believe that we're already
- 1:19Speaker 3: recording this season two preview episode?
- 1:23Speaker 4: Alright, dude, it's insane. It feels like just yesterday we
- 1:26Speaker 4: were recording Spider Labyrinth.
- 1:29Speaker 5: I feel like the season flew by because it was.
- 1:31Speaker 5: You've been listening to the earlier episodes.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Yeah, a bit of a cold open air, but welcome
- 1:38Speaker 3: everyone to a much more relaxed episode. Of Beyond the Blood.
- 1:42Speaker 3: This is our season one recap slash season two preview
- 1:46Speaker 3: where we're gonna unload everything that we have planned for
- 1:49Speaker 3: the show. I love the idea of doing this as
- 1:53Speaker 3: kind of like a bookend to a season and just
- 1:56Speaker 3: kind of like leaving it behind us, moving on from it,
- 2:00Speaker 3: and then kind of previewing what we have coming. I mean,
- 2:05Speaker 3: to me, I couldn't be any more excited too. It's
- 2:10Speaker 3: mind blowing that it's over, but I couldn't be any
- 2:13Speaker 3: more excited to be moving forward into what we are,
- 2:16Speaker 3: you know what I mean. So let's let's do a
- 2:20Speaker 3: brief look back here, and I know, Chuck, there's gonna
- 2:25Speaker 3: be a couple that's pretty much like Steve has no
- 2:27Speaker 3: input on. I'm sorry, man, didn't mean to even say
- 2:30Speaker 3: it like that.
- 2:30Speaker 5: It's okay, Yeah, I'll lot of slide this time.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, next time. Let me know, man. But so
- 2:37Speaker 3: we did the intro episode where we previewed season one.
- 2:40Speaker 3: That was the first thing that ever came out, was
- 2:42Speaker 3: just like our introduction, and then we previewed all of
- 2:45Speaker 3: season one, and then very quickly we did Spider Labyrinth
- 2:50Speaker 3: and we had on Ryan Varrel from someone's Fever Productions,
- 2:54Speaker 3: who is now our producer. See how this all kind
- 2:58Speaker 3: of comes full circle. And that was a very different
- 3:02Speaker 3: episode than anything we did before. Like, Chuck, what do
- 3:06Speaker 3: you think looking back at that episode? Like, to me,
- 3:08Speaker 3: it's it's still great, but I'm just a little like,
- 3:12Speaker 3: my god, I'm glad we changed up since then, you know.
- 3:15Speaker 4: Yeah, it's definitely completely different from how the show's going
- 3:18Speaker 4: on now, Like even the not to jump ahead, even
- 3:21Speaker 4: with the My Bloody Valentine episode we did with Steve, Like,
- 3:25Speaker 4: it was just so different to what we're doing now. Dude,
- 3:30Speaker 4: it was in a good way, in a good way.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Well we knew. We knew going in that it was
- 3:35Speaker 3: going to be like I don't want to say not great.
- 3:39Speaker 3: I don't want to shit on ourselves, you know what
- 3:41Speaker 3: I mean. But yeah, when you start anything new for
- 3:43Speaker 3: the first time, you kind of have to temper your expectations.
- 3:48Speaker 4: I mean, this is something we haven't really done before,
- 3:50Speaker 4: you know.
- 3:52Speaker 5: Yeah, it felt like it was kind of a couple
- 3:54Speaker 5: earlier episodes, at least listening or being a guest on
- 3:58Speaker 5: the My Bloody Valentine episode, it felt like it was
- 4:00Speaker 5: like more of like a raw kind of take on things,
- 4:04Speaker 5: and then gradually as the season went on, it felt
- 4:06Speaker 5: like it began to evolve and kind of shape into
- 4:10Speaker 5: where things are at now. And I feel like, you know,
- 4:12Speaker 5: things got so fine tune over the course of the season.
- 4:15Speaker 5: But it's pretty crazy to see where things ended up.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you already mentioned it. You came on for
- 4:24Speaker 3: was my pointy Valentine episode two?
- 4:27Speaker 4: Yeah, that was lib episode.
- 4:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Yeah, oh yeah, because it was Man, times are already.
- 4:31Speaker 4: Like right, everything's just getting jumped together at this point.
- 4:35Speaker 4: This year's flying by.
- 4:36Speaker 3: I do want to say about Spider Labyrinth though. I'm
- 4:38Speaker 3: very happy how many people have discovered that movie since
- 4:41Speaker 3: we talked about it.
- 4:43Speaker 4: Yeah, it was awesome.
- 4:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel like it got a lot of attention
- 4:46Speaker 3: through social media because we talked about it so much
- 4:49Speaker 3: leading up and even a little bit after. But I
- 4:53Speaker 3: feel like people like, we're kind of like, what is that? Like,
- 4:57Speaker 3: why are they talking about that movie?
- 4:59Speaker 5: You know, I was going to ask that, So in
- 5:02Speaker 5: the early stages when you guys were talking about this,
- 5:05Speaker 5: was was there like a few movies that you guys
- 5:07Speaker 5: were kicking around trying to settle on for that opening
- 5:11Speaker 5: episode or what was it about Spider Labyrinth. That really
- 5:16Speaker 5: drew you guys to that because I'm not gonna lie
- 5:18Speaker 5: like when you When I initially saw that that's the
- 5:20Speaker 5: first episode was going to be covering that, I was like, man,
- 5:23Speaker 5: it's kind of a bold choice. You know, it's not
- 5:25Speaker 5: a movie that not a lot of people know. Like
- 5:27Speaker 5: I know within our circle we know that movie, but
- 5:30Speaker 5: I don't know. I listened to me. I was like
- 5:32Speaker 5: super pumped to see that, So.
- 5:34Speaker 3: I don't I think that was the first episode from
- 5:38Speaker 3: the jump.
- 5:39Speaker 4: Right, Yeah, that was the first episode you brought to me.
- 5:42Speaker 4: You're like, oh yeah, like before we did our little
- 5:45Speaker 4: like draft as to like what movies we were going
- 5:48Speaker 4: to do. That was like the movie you were like,
- 5:50Speaker 4: we're definitely doing Spider labynth first. You kind of wanted
- 5:52Speaker 4: to dive like headfirst into the deep end with this
- 5:54Speaker 4: one to see how things would play out.
- 5:59Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 6:00Speaker 3: I was like a bossy alright, no negotiation. No, it
- 6:05Speaker 3: was because Ryan and Will did the commentary. That's that's
- 6:10Speaker 3: why Ryan was willing to come on the show. That
- 6:15Speaker 3: was what That was the main thing, because I wanted
- 6:18Speaker 3: to At that time, I didn't even know that Ryan
- 6:21Speaker 3: and Will had a podcast network. I had no idea.
- 6:23Speaker 3: I just knew. I was like, man, I actually know
- 6:27Speaker 3: somebody who's on a commentary track that can come on
- 6:30Speaker 3: the show and do this with us. And it was
- 6:34Speaker 3: a wealth of information, man. And I think still to
- 6:36Speaker 3: this day every now and every now and again, I
- 6:38Speaker 3: get a message from somebody that's like, dude, Spider Labyrinth,
- 6:41Speaker 3: like I bought that, I already get tagged in like
- 6:43Speaker 3: a hall and it's part of that. My buddy Valentine
- 6:48Speaker 3: was a no brainer because we were like, we gotta
- 6:51Speaker 3: do a Valentine's Day movie? What other I think it
- 6:54Speaker 3: was originally supposed to be double episodes though, because I
- 6:57Speaker 3: think we kicked around doing the two thousand and six
- 7:00Speaker 3: remake as like a secondary episode.
- 7:02Speaker 4: Yeah, that was gonna be a secondary episode, but we
- 7:04Speaker 4: never we were like, nah.
- 7:06Speaker 3: That's because we learned how much goddamn work it takes
- 7:08Speaker 3: to put one of these together.
- 7:10Speaker 4: Oh my god. Yeah, well, especially with those two earlier
- 7:13Speaker 4: ones too, because like I did a narration for my
- 7:17Speaker 4: bloody Valentine and that took for ever, not to just
- 7:20Speaker 4: like type out that script, but just reading it in
- 7:23Speaker 4: general too.
- 7:24Speaker 3: Yeah. That yeah, Steve, what was it like for you?
- 7:29Speaker 3: Now being a core member of this of this podcast
- 7:33Speaker 3: being a guest on that one.
- 7:35Speaker 5: So I don't recall how it initially. I think you
- 7:39Speaker 5: reached out to me about it, or like you had
- 7:42Speaker 5: pitched some movies that were available for like slots to
- 7:45Speaker 5: be a guest on, and I just remember that was
- 7:49Speaker 5: one of the available movies, and I jumped on that
- 7:51Speaker 5: because I love that movie a lot, especially for that
- 7:54Speaker 5: time of year, and you know, I didn't really know
- 7:58Speaker 5: what to expect obviously, like I feel like we weren't
- 8:01Speaker 5: as close as we are now, obviously working in like
- 8:03Speaker 5: a different capacity. But yeah, it was it was like,
- 8:09Speaker 5: I don't know, it was cool for what that episode was,
- 8:12Speaker 5: but I'm glad that we found more of a like
- 8:16Speaker 5: a better format I think for things like looking back
- 8:19Speaker 5: on that. But still a lot of fun. I had
- 8:21Speaker 5: a blast doing that with you guys.
- 8:23Speaker 3: Yeah, that was I think we were still learning how
- 8:28Speaker 3: to do this whole thing, you know what I mean.
- 8:30Speaker 3: And it was actually the next episode, it was episode three,
- 8:34Speaker 3: which to me was the monumental step for us, and
- 8:37Speaker 3: that was we did House of a Thousand Corpses with
- 8:39Speaker 3: our buddy Brian from Last Movie Standing. That was the
- 8:43Speaker 3: episode to me that proved what we were doing would work.
- 8:49Speaker 3: Like that was a defining moment where I was like,
- 8:51Speaker 3: oh shit, we might actually have something that works here.
- 8:55Speaker 3: You know, Like we went on for almost three hours
- 8:58Speaker 3: and we dissected individual shots, and having Brian on, you know,
- 9:04Speaker 3: somebody who also loves that movie helped us realize how
- 9:07Speaker 3: important it was to have a guest that equally is
- 9:09Speaker 3: as involved in the movie. Yeah, And I feel like
- 9:13Speaker 3: that helps.
- 9:14Speaker 5: So having someone that has like more of an invested
- 9:16Speaker 5: interest or attachment to those movies that way, it's like,
- 9:20Speaker 5: I mean it really kind of naturally carries the conversation
- 9:23Speaker 5: throughout the episode. Yeah.
- 9:24Speaker 4: Yeah, because like that talk that did not even feel
- 9:27Speaker 4: like three hours. That just went by so smooth and
- 9:30Speaker 4: just natural that it just went by so quick.
- 9:35Speaker 3: There were bits where I kind of like forgot that
- 9:36Speaker 3: we were podcasting. Yeah, because we do so many lives
- 9:40Speaker 3: and we do so much like other other stuff. I
- 9:44Speaker 3: kind of like forgot for a little bit. And then
- 9:45Speaker 3: I was like Brian at the end was like, dude,
- 9:48Speaker 3: we've went on for longer than the movie. Plus the
- 9:50Speaker 3: bonus features yep. So that was and we also kind
- 9:57Speaker 3: of that's when we moved away from the script. That's
- 10:00Speaker 3: where we kind of like did it. We just had
- 10:02Speaker 3: notes but the conversation. One one thing that I've learned
- 10:06Speaker 3: is how much information you retain because I already did
- 10:11Speaker 3: one run through of Texas Chanel Asker and I have
- 10:13Speaker 3: a couple of notes, but like already from reading the
- 10:17Speaker 3: notes a couple of times, I already remember them, Like
- 10:19Speaker 3: I don't need to have a script to you know,
- 10:23Speaker 3: build the dynamic of the show, you know. I think
- 10:28Speaker 3: that's one thing we've learned the most was that we
- 10:30Speaker 3: didn't have to do that. But to me, I mean,
- 10:33Speaker 3: if think of anybody listening, this is like is kind
- 10:38Speaker 3: of like, Okay, what is the show that that really started?
- 10:40Speaker 3: To me, it's House of one thousand Courses?
- 10:44Speaker 4: Agree with you.
- 10:45Speaker 3: But then I think the next episode was absolutely monumental
- 10:52Speaker 3: for us because it was the first episode with you
- 10:54Speaker 3: Steve on his co host, and that was when we
- 10:56Speaker 3: did Killer Clowns from Otter Space.
- 10:59Speaker 5: Oh no, it was pet Cemetery. Pet Cemetery too, was it?
- 11:03Speaker 3: I thought that I thought the first was Killer Clowns.
- 11:05Speaker 5: No, man, I wish, I wish, I know, listen any
- 11:10Speaker 5: of the movies that you guys covered. I've said this before,
- 11:13Speaker 5: but I was kind of low key jealous. I couldn't
- 11:15Speaker 5: talk about them with you guys because they were it
- 11:18Speaker 5: was just a good slate for season one and uh
- 11:22Speaker 5: it's I mean, but but the guests you guys had
- 11:25Speaker 5: on I swear, I don't think you could have found better,
- 11:28Speaker 5: any better fits for for the guests on those episodes.
- 11:32Speaker 4: Yeah, Robbie was perfect fit for Killer Clowns, Like his
- 11:36Speaker 4: love for that movie came through and that conversation that
- 11:39Speaker 4: we had.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Dude, Robbie was we had Robbie Miles on Miles of
- 11:44Speaker 3: Horror and he was phenomenal, dude. I mean, like again,
- 11:49Speaker 3: to have back to back guests with Brian and then
- 11:52Speaker 3: Robbie that were as great as they are, it kind
- 11:54Speaker 3: of it's at a high bar for every guest from
- 11:57Speaker 3: that point on. Honestly. Yeah, Killer Clowns was another one
- 12:00Speaker 3: we went on. We went on forever, and having Robbie
- 12:05Speaker 3: on two was kind of cool because it's really cool
- 12:07Speaker 3: because he, I feel like, really blew up our heads,
- 12:11Speaker 3: like complimenting what the show was so much. You know,
- 12:14Speaker 3: he really was like over and over again, like what
- 12:17Speaker 3: you guys have going is incredible, and I was like,
- 12:19Speaker 3: oh dude, I got to a point where I didn't
- 12:21Speaker 3: know how to say thank you anymore.
- 12:23Speaker 4: Right, super kind words were throwing.
- 12:27Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you know it threw me off though, Steve.
- 12:30Speaker 3: You know why I thought that was the first one
- 12:33Speaker 3: because the episode after that was our first episode of
- 12:37Speaker 3: After Hours. Yes, yeah, that's what maybe I thought you
- 12:41Speaker 3: came on and then we did. After Hours was the
- 12:43Speaker 3: first thing that you were on as a host score right.
- 12:46Speaker 5: Yep, So it was that, and then pet Cemetery too
- 12:49Speaker 5: after that.
- 12:50Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, and After Hours has now become a staple
- 12:52Speaker 3: you know this season, Like.
- 12:54Speaker 5: It's you know, I like that it's more of the uh,
- 12:57Speaker 5: more of the casual vibe, Like it's just us like
- 13:00Speaker 5: casually hanging out, shooting the shit, talking movies like recent
- 13:04Speaker 5: pickups or things like that, and you know, it's I
- 13:07Speaker 5: think it's a nice contrast compared to like the format
- 13:09Speaker 5: for the more like structured episodes. Yeah.
- 13:13Speaker 3: And since then, you know, we've had multiple conversations with
- 13:16Speaker 3: Ryan and you know, we we need to continue even
- 13:22Speaker 3: though what we do at it at the core supports
- 13:25Speaker 3: physical media. How do we continue doing that and do
- 13:27Speaker 3: it in unique ways? How do we use the platform,
- 13:30Speaker 3: and I think that is really the show that allows
- 13:33Speaker 3: us to do that the most.
- 13:37Speaker 5: Oh yeah, you know what I mean.
- 13:40Speaker 3: So we did After Hours, and then we did Pet
- 13:43Speaker 3: Cemetery Too, which we had tim on from the average reviews. Dude,
- 13:49Speaker 3: that was especially My wife was like, why are you
- 13:55Speaker 3: guys covering pet Cemetery Too? She hates that movie. I
- 13:59Speaker 3: love that movie. Yeah, she's such a purist. For the
- 14:01Speaker 3: first one, it is good both of the dude, I mean, yeah,
- 14:05Speaker 3: but the fact that Mary Lambert came back and did
- 14:09Speaker 3: pet Cemetery Too, and we went on for like one
- 14:11Speaker 3: hundred and twenty seven minutes about pet Cemetery Too.
- 14:14Speaker 5: We had a lot of fun cover in that one.
- 14:16Speaker 5: It was a fun.
- 14:17Speaker 4: Movie to watch and listen to the commentary for.
- 14:20Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, and you know, we've gotten some kind of
- 14:24Speaker 3: we can't really say much, but we've gotten some exciting
- 14:26Speaker 3: word about the future of that movie. So you know,
- 14:31Speaker 3: I hope that's a movie that continues to live on.
- 14:33Speaker 3: I mean, I feel like it came out on screen
- 14:34Speaker 3: Factory put out that Blu ray. You know, her commentary
- 14:39Speaker 3: was was good. It wasn't the most information filled, so
- 14:42Speaker 3: we did kind of have that to kind of fight against.
- 14:45Speaker 5: But can I say though, I mean we've covered well,
- 14:50Speaker 5: you guys have covered more than I have, but as
- 14:53Speaker 5: a whole, we've covered various movies and listened to the
- 14:57Speaker 5: commentaries for each one of these releases. What I think
- 15:00Speaker 5: is interesting, though, is that I feel like there are
- 15:04Speaker 5: some that are definitely more standouts for the commentaries that
- 15:08Speaker 5: give you more to like work with compared to others.
- 15:10Speaker 5: I mean, I feel like, was it for pet Cemetery too,
- 15:13Speaker 5: where I felt like there wasn't as much for us
- 15:16Speaker 5: to go off of off based off that commentary. It
- 15:19Speaker 5: was like really had to like dig deep to try
- 15:21Speaker 5: and find more info on the movie.
- 15:23Speaker 3: I think it was that and the Burning Yeah, well yeah,
- 15:28Speaker 3: I think those were our two toughest episodes to really
- 15:32Speaker 3: flesh out because there wasn't a lot given to us,
- 15:36Speaker 3: which is gonna happen. I mean, we're gonna pick movies
- 15:38Speaker 3: where that happens, but we just kind of got a
- 15:42Speaker 3: ride with it, and you know, some episodes. Not to
- 15:45Speaker 3: say those episodes are bad, I don't think they're bad,
- 15:47Speaker 3: but some episodes are going to be more jam packed
- 15:49Speaker 3: with new information than others, you know what I mean?
- 15:53Speaker 3: Because we did pet Cemetery too. We did another after Hours,
- 15:57Speaker 3: and then we did your birthday episode. See see you
- 16:00Speaker 3: came on the show. You came on the show halfway
- 16:03Speaker 3: through the season and you already got your own birthday episode.
- 16:05Speaker 5: Dude. It was so much fun. Yeah, it was so
- 16:08Speaker 5: much fun. I was. I mean, I was a little like,
- 16:11Speaker 5: you know, it's obviously a different dynamic with with having
- 16:15Speaker 5: like a different group of like guests on there, but
- 16:18Speaker 5: that was a blast. I was having a lot of
- 16:20Speaker 5: fun with that one.
- 16:21Speaker 3: We had us three. We had gc from Face of Movies.
- 16:23Speaker 3: We had Jordan from the movie Dan, and then we
- 16:25Speaker 3: had Christian from Planet which still to this day my
- 16:29Speaker 3: favorite memory of the show is when Christian got on
- 16:32Speaker 3: and was like, quote unquote, holy shit, this is a
- 16:36Speaker 3: real professional production. He was like shocked. That was you know,
- 16:41Speaker 3: the professor like how we were approaching it.
- 16:43Speaker 5: It was high praise. I felt like, just you know,
- 16:46Speaker 5: to be recognized for that, and obviously at the end
- 16:49Speaker 5: of the day, we want it to be in a
- 16:50Speaker 5: very professional setting. Obviously still have fun, but I don't know,
- 16:55Speaker 5: I just feel like, if you have the right setup
- 16:57Speaker 5: and right equipment and do things the right way, goes
- 17:00Speaker 5: a long ways.
- 17:02Speaker 3: Yeah, and we talked about shitting and showering, which the bidet.
- 17:07Speaker 4: Yeah, some forbidden websites we used to visit when we
- 17:10Speaker 4: were younger.
- 17:13Speaker 3: No, I think we you know, I think we've loosened
- 17:17Speaker 3: up a lot, you know, as far as these episodes go,
- 17:20Speaker 3: especially over time, and it's only going to get the
- 17:23Speaker 3: more you do it, the more it just feels like
- 17:24Speaker 3: what you do.
- 17:25Speaker 5: For sure, at Cemetery to the ending, when we were
- 17:28Speaker 5: talking about like the closing credits, like at the very
- 17:31Speaker 5: end of that, I felt like I felt like this
- 17:34Speaker 5: was the episode was becoming unhinged. At that point, I
- 17:37Speaker 5: was like, dude, I think we got to wrap this
- 17:39Speaker 5: up soon because I don't know why, Like I find
- 17:41Speaker 5: this so fucking funny, but it's just like it's so ridiculous.
- 17:45Speaker 3: I mean, I think, like that's I think we've learned
- 17:47Speaker 3: how important that is though, to be that way throughout
- 17:50Speaker 3: the whole Sure, you know what I mean. Every now
- 17:53Speaker 3: and then, every now and then, like I'll be I'll
- 17:55Speaker 3: be on the toilet and I think about that conversation
- 17:57Speaker 3: and I'm like, I'm glad I discussed this with my friend.
- 18:00Speaker 5: Yep.
- 18:01Speaker 4: Even more glad you didn't put that bidet on your toilet.
- 18:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 18:05Speaker 3: I don't own a bi day. I mean, if any
- 18:06Speaker 3: biday companies want to send me one, I'll put up
- 18:08Speaker 3: a review of an asapp.
- 18:10Speaker 5: That's when we know we've made it. When we get
- 18:13Speaker 5: a bidet sponsorship.
- 18:15Speaker 3: We can do. We could start a side podcast called
- 18:18Speaker 3: like beyond the Bedet Beidays, so you.
- 18:24Speaker 5: Make different ranked different bidets that are out there.
- 18:26Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah, we have to by setting as well. Oh
- 18:32Speaker 4: like high high setting, low settings.
- 18:34Speaker 5: High pressure, high high pressure, like a powerwash, you have
- 18:40Speaker 5: a power wash.
- 18:42Speaker 4: God damn.
- 18:44Speaker 3: And then we ended, uh this, let me get us
- 18:46Speaker 3: back on track here speaking of bidays, and we ended
- 18:50Speaker 3: the season with the burning and that has nothing to
- 18:52Speaker 3: do with the days.
- 18:53Speaker 5: But no, but it starts to be.
- 18:56Speaker 4: Yeah, you found the connection.
- 18:58Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 18:59Speaker 3: Also starting with me is Mark Tails from the Shelf.
- 19:05Speaker 3: He was on the It was our guest, which was dude.
- 19:11Speaker 3: Mark is just one of my favorite guys kind of
- 19:14Speaker 3: in our space.
- 19:15Speaker 5: Yeah, dude, he was great, very very knowledgeable too. I
- 19:20Speaker 5: went back and watched that episode like the camp Slasher Retrospective,
- 19:25Speaker 5: I think that's what it was called. But the episode
- 19:27Speaker 5: that he did, I think it was a year ago.
- 19:30Speaker 5: It was cool because I mean, he definitely knows the
- 19:33Speaker 5: ship when it comes to, you know, like this Nietzsche
- 19:37Speaker 5: niche subgenre, I guess you could consider it. But yeah,
- 19:42Speaker 5: solid dude had a lot of fun having hun.
- 19:44Speaker 3: That episode was tough because I feel like we I
- 19:47Speaker 3: feel like there's really not a lot of discussion that
- 19:51Speaker 3: you can really create around that movie's pretty straightforward. It
- 19:53Speaker 3: didn't really have a lot of There wasn't a lot
- 19:56Speaker 3: of drama behind the scenes. There wasn't a lot of
- 19:58Speaker 3: you know, and most of that common, which I think
- 20:00Speaker 3: is good. I think people should listen to the commentary
- 20:02Speaker 3: with Tony Maylan because Alan Jones, who moderates that, does
- 20:07Speaker 3: a really good job at kind of asking some interesting questions.
- 20:12Speaker 3: But there's questions were stuff we already knew we were
- 20:14Speaker 3: just getting directly from. But I did go back and
- 20:19Speaker 3: I listened to an episode and it didn't sound as
- 20:23Speaker 3: like jumbled up as I thought it did in my
- 20:25Speaker 3: head while we were recording it. So I was happy
- 20:28Speaker 3: about that. And then that was season one in a flash.
- 20:34Speaker 5: I mean, the one thing you brought up before we
- 20:37Speaker 5: move on from it, but the one thing that you
- 20:39Speaker 5: brought up was if The Burning had been released before
- 20:44Speaker 5: Friday the thirteenth, do you guys think that that movie
- 20:48Speaker 5: would have been more impactful? And I've thought about that
- 20:51Speaker 5: after we recorded that. I'm like, I wonder if it
- 20:53Speaker 5: would have maybe had more of like an audience if
- 20:57Speaker 5: it came out before, you know, I felt like Friday
- 20:58Speaker 5: the thirteenth was, like I mean, at the time, it
- 21:01Speaker 5: was kind of like a cultural icon.
- 21:05Speaker 3: Yeah, because secularly The Burning was in production before. I
- 21:10Speaker 3: don't know, because if you pull apart, what is similar
- 21:15Speaker 3: to the setting, the style. I think they're two very
- 21:17Speaker 3: different movies. And I don't think The Burning has the
- 21:21Speaker 3: mass appeal quality to it that Friday thirteenth does. Friday
- 21:24Speaker 3: thirteenth is fun, there's like a I mean, I was
- 21:27Speaker 3: born ten years after that movie came out, But Friday
- 21:31Speaker 3: thirteenth has that fun like vibe to it where you
- 21:36Speaker 3: can go to the theaters with your friends and it's
- 21:38Speaker 3: scary enough to make you jump and you could throw
- 21:40Speaker 3: popcorn at the screen and it's good enough, you know.
- 21:43Speaker 3: But like The Burning to me is meaner, and like
- 21:47Speaker 3: we talked about an episode, the first half of The Burning,
- 21:50Speaker 3: there's like nothing that happens, like you have the initial
- 21:52Speaker 3: incident with Cropsy, you have the hospital scene, five years
- 21:56Speaker 3: later he gets released, and then there's like nothing for
- 21:59Speaker 3: a half power, you know what I mean.
- 22:01Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a a lot of like uh atmospheric.
- 22:05Speaker 3: The most exciting scene is Albert uh you know, peeping
- 22:09Speaker 3: on Sally in the shower, you know what I mean,
- 22:11Speaker 3: which like, but then from there on it's nothing until
- 22:15Speaker 3: pretty much like the raft scene, you know what I mean.
- 22:17Speaker 5: I wonder I think the interesting like follow up thought
- 22:23Speaker 5: to that conversation is why didn't that movie ever get
- 22:26Speaker 5: a sequel?
- 22:28Speaker 3: I think I didn't he I thought he said that
- 22:32Speaker 3: they were kind of considering it in the commentary or that,
- 22:35Speaker 3: Oh No, I don't think anybody ever came forward to
- 22:37Speaker 3: him and offered.
- 22:40Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 22:40Speaker 4: I think I think he's mentioned that he wasn't really
- 22:43Speaker 4: interested in doing a sequel, oh kind of just like
- 22:45Speaker 4: one done.
- 22:47Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah, So I mean, I I'm I'm Cropsy.
- 22:53Speaker 3: The story of Cropsy has been told a million times
- 22:56Speaker 3: in the genre, you know, so I think the burning
- 22:58Speaker 3: is more interesting as a one and done.
- 23:01Speaker 4: Yeah, It's just it's like the what if exactly?
- 23:05Speaker 5: You know.
- 23:06Speaker 3: I think the reason I I asked that question. That
- 23:08Speaker 3: was because that that's a that's a good point, but
- 23:10Speaker 3: you can kind of put that point of what if
- 23:13Speaker 3: this came first into many different avenues of the genre
- 23:17Speaker 3: or film in general, and you can kind of see
- 23:19Speaker 3: kind of what would have been different, what would have changed. So,
- 23:23Speaker 3: you know, I just thought that was interesting because I
- 23:24Speaker 3: could imagine walking into Spirit Halloween and seeing cropsy masks
- 23:27Speaker 3: instead of Jason Voorhe's masks, you know what I mean,
- 23:29Speaker 3: or like cropsy cropsy crocs, which there you go, do
- 23:33Speaker 3: crock They're like all burnt.
- 23:36Speaker 5: I was it looks like burnt flesh colored crocs.
- 23:42Speaker 3: But yeah, that was dude. Season one it came and went.
- 23:47Speaker 5: Uh.
- 23:48Speaker 3: I am one hundred, one hundred times more excited for
- 23:52Speaker 3: what we have coming in season two, both on from
- 23:57Speaker 3: the perspective of the level of research, I think, our
- 24:00Speaker 3: comfortability doing this, the guests, the style, the movies, the movies. Yeah, like,
- 24:09Speaker 3: and it's all kicking off with a summer special where
- 24:13Speaker 3: we're actually gonna have Christian back from plantasy hh, We're
- 24:16Speaker 3: gonna have Mark back from Tales from the Shelf, and
- 24:18Speaker 3: we're gonna have Garrett from Born to Be Rad On.
- 24:21Speaker 3: We're gonna be doing a evolution of the Campground Slashers
- 24:25Speaker 3: episode which will be coming out in July, and that's
- 24:29Speaker 3: gonna be a ton of fun.
- 24:30Speaker 5: Man.
- 24:30Speaker 3: I think that's the perfect time to be talking.
- 24:32Speaker 4: About it, absolutely, because that's usually the time of year
- 24:36Speaker 4: whereverybody wants to go to the slasher genre and start
- 24:40Speaker 4: watching h Yeah.
- 24:41Speaker 5: Yeah, for sure.
- 24:43Speaker 3: Having Christian Mark and Garrett On is going to be incredible.
- 24:46Speaker 3: I'm gonna feel like an idiot talking to all of
- 24:49Speaker 3: them at the same time, But that's gonna be a
- 24:53Speaker 3: lot of fun. That's coming out in July. And then
- 24:57Speaker 3: we kick off season two both audio and YouTube with
- 25:05Speaker 3: our August episode, which is going to be nineteen seventy
- 25:07Speaker 3: four is the Texas Chainsaw Masker. I guess so goddamn
- 25:13Speaker 3: excited for.
- 25:14Speaker 5: So perfect, perfect movie for that time of year, especially
- 25:19Speaker 5: just like you're getting to the tail end of summer. Yeah,
- 25:23Speaker 5: that movie just exudes summer on so many levels, nice.
- 25:27Speaker 4: And sweaty and great.
- 25:30Speaker 3: And I think that movie's a great challenge for us
- 25:34Speaker 3: because there's probably twenty five million podcasts about the Texas
- 25:37Speaker 3: Chainsaw Masker. So how do we how do we become
- 25:42Speaker 3: the most comprehensive. You know, I know our show focuses
- 25:46Speaker 3: primarily on one commentary track, but I know for me,
- 25:50Speaker 3: I'm watching four and two books possibly, so as much
- 25:56Speaker 3: research as possible is going into this episode. And I'm
- 25:59Speaker 3: sure you guys you're probably gonna end up watching more
- 26:01Speaker 3: than one and stuff. We all will, we you know,
- 26:04Speaker 3: I know we all will. But we have, uh, Steve,
- 26:07Speaker 3: you own the second site one? Oh yeah, and then
- 26:11Speaker 3: me and Chuck have the Dark Sky four K release,
- 26:14Speaker 3: which I believe the bonus features are the same, both
- 26:16Speaker 3: of them contained the documentary. There might be some slight differences,
- 26:20Speaker 3: but I don't I don't know offhand between the two.
- 26:24Speaker 3: I don't know if Steve, you have that right there? So, Steve,
- 26:26Speaker 3: how much youre going to sell me that?
- 26:28Speaker 5: For? Oh man? That one is uh not up for sale?
- 26:35Speaker 5: As as good of friends as we are, this one,
- 26:39Speaker 5: this is like one of the one of my favorite releases.
- 26:43Speaker 3: Are there four commentary tracks on that one? Do you
- 26:45Speaker 3: still have the JA the slip?
- 26:49Speaker 5: Chris? I want to show this off first.
- 26:51Speaker 4: This is the booklet. The booklet, Oh.
- 26:55Speaker 3: Huge goddamn book. That's a novel.
- 26:59Speaker 4: That's a the ass boy.
- 27:02Speaker 3: This is why I need a This is why I
- 27:04Speaker 3: need to kid there. I think I passed on one
- 27:06Speaker 3: that was on eBay. I think it was one hundred
- 27:08Speaker 3: and thirty and I passed on it, so.
- 27:13Speaker 5: I don't know. Hold on, I'll take a look.
- 27:16Speaker 3: Well, Steve, it should be on the back of the
- 27:18Speaker 3: regular case. Where's the bonus features? I think there's four? No, oh,
- 27:24Speaker 3: that's right. They don't have a traditional they just have
- 27:26Speaker 3: like the here, I'll look it up while we uh oh.
- 27:30Speaker 4: That's some good art. I don't think i've ever seen
- 27:32Speaker 4: that box set.
- 27:35Speaker 3: Let's see here, so I'm pretty sure it's all of
- 27:39Speaker 3: the same bonus features. Here we go. We have the
- 27:43Speaker 3: UHD so we have oh no, there is a there's
- 27:48Speaker 3: one new commentary on it by Amanda Reas and Bill Ackerman,
- 27:52Speaker 3: and then the four that are on the the other
- 27:57Speaker 3: one that your release two also has the Shocking Truth documentary,
- 28:03Speaker 3: which was directed by David Gregory from Severn. I'm gonna
- 28:07Speaker 3: watch that's actually on Prime.
- 28:11Speaker 5: The when I watch that and then also listen to
- 28:13Speaker 5: the commentary.
- 28:14Speaker 3: Yeah, so some slight differences. I'll get my hands on it,
- 28:18Speaker 3: don't worry. But yeah, so Texas, Chaine, I'm asker. And
- 28:22Speaker 3: for that episode, guest wise, we're gonna have Jordan from
- 28:26Speaker 3: the movie Dead. And then we're actually gonna have a
- 28:28Speaker 3: guest who has never been on before. He has become
- 28:31Speaker 3: a dear friend of mine, Dylan Anglin, who is a filmmaker.
- 28:36Speaker 3: He directed a movie that I was kind of pushing
- 28:39Speaker 3: a little hard. I don't know how to technically say.
- 28:40Speaker 3: I think it's Pasadilla Pasadea. I don't know, Chuck, did
- 28:45Speaker 3: you watch it yet? I know you bought it, I
- 28:47Speaker 3: have it. I have not watched it yet though. Okay,
- 28:50Speaker 3: he reached out right away. He loves this movie. And
- 28:52Speaker 3: then we're actually we're actually gonna be doing a couple
- 28:54Speaker 3: of giveaways on that episode. We're gonna be giving away. Yeah,
- 28:57Speaker 3: We're gonna be giving away two copies of his movie
- 29:00Speaker 3: during that episode. Yep, and that'll be part of the YouTube.
- 29:05Speaker 3: We're gonna do an audio giveaway, and then we're gonna
- 29:07Speaker 3: do a YouTube giveaway a copy of each Yeah.
- 29:11Speaker 4: Should we throw in that copy of pet Cemetery too? Also,
- 29:14Speaker 4: since we forgot about that, we should.
- 29:16Speaker 3: Yeah, So we'll do a third one we'll give away.
- 29:17Speaker 3: We'll give away the copy meant to give away that
- 29:21Speaker 3: we forgot about. But yeah, dude, incredibly excited for Texas
- 29:25Speaker 3: chains I'm masker. It's a very intimidating film to take
- 29:30Speaker 3: on because there's so much out there about the movie,
- 29:33Speaker 3: so many people have spoken about it. So how do
- 29:36Speaker 3: we leave our imprint, you know, on that film? I
- 29:39Speaker 3: think is kind of the question. I know that I'm
- 29:42Speaker 3: asking myself, you know, for that. But what do you
- 29:46Speaker 3: guys think about that? You guys excited to chat about that?
- 29:49Speaker 4: Very excited for it. I'm definitely ready to dive into
- 29:52Speaker 4: these four commentaries and try to get as much knowledge
- 29:54Speaker 4: as possible. And I got that book on the way
- 29:57Speaker 4: as well. What was uh? What was a Texas is
- 30:00Speaker 4: the reason?
- 30:01Speaker 3: Texas is the reason?
- 30:02Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 30:02Speaker 3: By Ted Murr, who will be on the show. We
- 30:06Speaker 3: will have a bonus episode with him the week after
- 30:08Speaker 3: the main episode premieres.
- 30:11Speaker 4: Man, so a lot of knowledge going into this one.
- 30:14Speaker 5: I feel like excited as an understatement. I love this
- 30:17Speaker 5: movie so much so to be able to do a
- 30:19Speaker 5: deep dive on this and just have such a great
- 30:23Speaker 5: group of guests on there, for all of us to
- 30:25Speaker 5: come together, to be able to talk about like such
- 30:27Speaker 5: a iconic movie.
- 30:29Speaker 3: It's gonna blast, and I think people listeners are going
- 30:32Speaker 3: to be shocked at the amount of episodes we have
- 30:35Speaker 3: coming outside of the main five, you know what I mean,
- 30:42Speaker 3: There is a lot of Now that we are a
- 30:46Speaker 3: part of someone's favorite productions, it's really opened up the
- 30:49Speaker 3: door for us to get on more guests that we're
- 30:53Speaker 3: going to be kind of doing a separate episode and
- 30:55Speaker 3: a separate episode so for now on. You know, in
- 30:59Speaker 3: season one, it was like we had the main episode
- 31:01Speaker 3: for the month and then that was it and until
- 31:04Speaker 3: we started adding after hours. But now the whole month
- 31:07Speaker 3: is going to be encompassing the movie and the releases.
- 31:10Speaker 3: We get on people who were involved in various aspects,
- 31:13Speaker 3: and some of these are gonna be longer, some of
- 31:14Speaker 3: these are gonna be like fifteen minutes. I can't say
- 31:17Speaker 3: who we're working on getting on, but you know, we
- 31:21Speaker 3: have some some people getting on. I think if you're
- 31:23Speaker 3: a fan of film and you're listening to our show,
- 31:25Speaker 3: you're gonna want to listen to those bonus episodes and
- 31:27Speaker 3: they're gonna make you excited. So there's a lot coming
- 31:31Speaker 3: outside of these main ones that we're talking about today.
- 31:34Speaker 3: But moving from August into September. We actually have two
- 31:39Speaker 3: episodes coming out in September, two different formats. We're gonna
- 31:44Speaker 3: be doing our main episode for the month. We're gonna
- 31:46Speaker 3: have Brian back on from last movie Standing, and we're
- 31:48Speaker 3: gonna be doing the sequel to House of a Thousand Corpses,
- 31:51Speaker 3: the Devil's Rejects, which is my favorite of the Flight
- 31:55Speaker 3: of the Firefly trilogy.
- 31:57Speaker 5: So good. What do you guys, What do you guys.
- 31:59Speaker 3: Put Devil's Rejects in the in the trilogy ranking?
- 32:05Speaker 5: I would I'm kind of partial. I think it's just
- 32:08Speaker 5: for like nostalgia reasons, but I'm still partial to a
- 32:11Speaker 5: House of a Thousand Corpses for me personally. But that's
- 32:16Speaker 5: so hard. That's like a coin flip between the two movies.
- 32:19Speaker 3: What about you, Chuck?
- 32:21Speaker 4: Yeah, I would agree it flips between the two because
- 32:24Speaker 4: they're so their neck and neck for me. So it
- 32:27Speaker 4: depends on the day that I'm talking about it.
- 32:29Speaker 3: So nobody has it higher than Three from Hell right now,
- 32:33Speaker 3: we're okay.
- 32:33Speaker 4: All right, I've only seen Three from Hell one time.
- 32:36Speaker 3: That's all you need. That's more than you need, honestly, Okay, cool. Yeah,
- 32:41Speaker 3: So well, we'll be doing the Devil's Rejects. I'm sure
- 32:44Speaker 3: that's gonna be another three hour episode. Zombie is always
- 32:48Speaker 3: giving out all the information imaginable, so incredibly excited for that.
- 32:53Speaker 3: But we aught, so that's gonna be a main episode.
- 32:55Speaker 3: That's gonna be YouTube and audio. But we are going
- 33:00Speaker 3: to do a audio only bonus with my wife as
- 33:08Speaker 3: we cover from nineteen ninety one's Popcorn, which is one
- 33:12Speaker 3: of her favorite movies. It was put out by Synapse
- 33:15Speaker 3: on Blu ray. I'm very excited to have her on,
- 33:18Speaker 3: very excited to kind of share the spotlight with her
- 33:21Speaker 3: and get her to, you know, to actually do something
- 33:25Speaker 3: like this with me. So that's gonna be an audio
- 33:28Speaker 3: only one. Have you guys seen Popcorn at all?
- 33:32Speaker 4: I've seen it one time, but I remember having a
- 33:35Speaker 4: lot of fun watching it, so I'm definitely looking forward
- 33:37Speaker 4: to diving into it again.
- 33:40Speaker 5: It's been forever since I've seen it, so I'm excited
- 33:43Speaker 5: to have a reason to revisit it and dive into
- 33:46Speaker 5: it a little bit further.
- 33:48Speaker 3: I think you guys are going to be surprised with
- 33:49Speaker 3: how much fun that's going to be. That's a that's
- 33:52Speaker 3: a great movie, and there is some spicy behind the
- 33:55Speaker 3: scenes drama with that one including ooh ooh fuck putting casts,
- 34:00Speaker 3: director swaps, all kinds of all kinds of fun stuff.
- 34:04Speaker 4: Is it on par with Rob Zombie and Warner Brothers?
- 34:08Speaker 5: Is a.
- 34:11Speaker 4: Universal versal? I meant it is universal. Sorry, I don't
- 34:14Speaker 4: know why I said Warner Brothers. Jesus on my brain.
- 34:19Speaker 3: Batman on the Brain, I don't know. I have that
- 34:21Speaker 3: problem daily, dude, Batman on the Brain. So, yeah, September
- 34:25Speaker 3: is gonna be jam packed with both of those episodes.
- 34:29Speaker 3: October we still have some guests figuring out to do.
- 34:33Speaker 3: So we have two guests. We we know we're gonna
- 34:36Speaker 3: have Garrett on from Born to Be Bad Again, and
- 34:38Speaker 3: we know we're gonna have Christian on from Planetshh. We
- 34:40Speaker 3: just haven't figured out what episodes are gonna be a
- 34:42Speaker 3: part of yet. But October we're gonna be talking about
- 34:45Speaker 3: Mike Doherty's Trick or Treat. I don't know if outside
- 34:50Speaker 3: of Halloween there is a more iconic Halloween set horror movie.
- 34:56Speaker 3: What do you guys think?
- 34:59Speaker 5: Uh?
- 35:00Speaker 4: I would agree, like, I always watch Trick or Treat
- 35:03Speaker 4: on Halloween Day. Now, ever since I've picked it up,
- 35:06Speaker 4: it's become one of my favorite holiday movies, so looking
- 35:11Speaker 4: forward to diving into it.
- 35:14Speaker 5: I feel like that movie just perfectly captures that Halloween
- 35:19Speaker 5: fall aesthetic with it. It's like a feel good movie.
- 35:24Speaker 5: Definitely a staple that I come back to every single
- 35:27Speaker 5: year around that time. So I couldn't think of a
- 35:30Speaker 5: more perfect movie for us to uh to be able
- 35:32Speaker 5: to go over together.
- 35:34Speaker 3: It's gonna be a lot of fun too because we
- 35:37Speaker 3: all I think we all have the Arrow four K.
- 35:40Speaker 4: Yes, I have the screen factory.
- 35:43Speaker 3: Okay, So CHUCKO, I'm gonna need to I'm gonna you're
- 35:45Speaker 3: gonna need to upgrade because there is a new commentary
- 35:47Speaker 3: with Mike Doherty on it, on it as he grabs
- 35:51Speaker 3: its phone, there's a new commentary on there, but there's
- 35:54Speaker 3: also an older commentary with Mike Doherty, so it can
- 35:58Speaker 3: be a lot of fun kind of talking out the
- 36:00Speaker 3: difference between you know, what he mentions in the original
- 36:03Speaker 3: and what he mentions in this new commentary. And also
- 36:06Speaker 3: to Chuck, just for you know, just to add on,
- 36:10Speaker 3: the four K looks incredible, m M perfect. It's fantastic, and.
- 36:14Speaker 4: It's on sale right now. So this is going in
- 36:16Speaker 4: my cart and being purchased as we speak.
- 36:19Speaker 3: Very worthy upgrade, man, very worthy upgrade. So yeah, it
- 36:23Speaker 3: will either have Christian from Planet c hh or Garrett
- 36:26Speaker 3: excuse me from born to We were at on that one.
- 36:28Speaker 3: We're still figuring out the two. But October moving on
- 36:34Speaker 3: to November Thanksgiving. What's your guys' favorite food on Thanksgiving Day?
- 36:40Speaker 3: Could be a side, could be a main course.
- 36:45Speaker 5: Potatoes mashed potatoes.
- 36:47Speaker 4: Yeah, man, yeah, dude, there's orange mashed potatoes.
- 36:51Speaker 3: Yeah, orange, the.
- 36:52Speaker 4: Sweet potatoes, yeah, the sweet potatoes, sweet mashed potatoes. Yeah,
- 36:56Speaker 4: I forgot the name for a second. Jesus christ.
- 37:00Speaker 5: Are about What.
- 37:03Speaker 3: Are the potatoes? Are they scallop potato? My mom used
- 37:06Speaker 3: to make them when I was a kids, scallop potatoes.
- 37:08Speaker 3: Do you guys have those?
- 37:09Speaker 5: They're like, yeah, yeah, those are good?
- 37:11Speaker 4: Yeah, those are good. Yeah. Actually just had some a
- 37:13Speaker 4: couple of weeks ago, did you surprisingly enough?
- 37:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm a bit I'm a big biscuit guy. Oh
- 37:20Speaker 3: I like I like I like a biscuit on the side.
- 37:22Speaker 5: Or do you guys have mac and cheese?
- 37:24Speaker 4: Yeah, because absolutely yeah, I feel like baked mac and cheese.
- 37:27Speaker 5: Yeah. Oh yeah, yep, yep, you already know.
- 37:30Speaker 3: So one more because I'm sure we'll get into this
- 37:32Speaker 3: more in November. Regular corn or cream corn.
- 37:40Speaker 4: I lean more towards the regular. I do like the
- 37:42Speaker 4: cream corn, but I lean more towards the regular.
- 37:44Speaker 5: Probably regular regular corn.
- 37:46Speaker 3: It's easier to eat, doesn't make it much a mess. Yeah,
- 37:49Speaker 3: do you guys like when food on your plate touches
- 37:51Speaker 3: other food on your plate, It doesn't bother me.
- 37:53Speaker 5: It doesn't bother me. It bothers My wife tries. Yeah,
- 37:57Speaker 5: she's listen. Everyone's got their pet peeves. That's definitely one
- 38:00Speaker 5: of hers.
- 38:01Speaker 3: It doesn't bother me. But like I will, You'll see
- 38:04Speaker 3: me take my spoon and kind of like move like
- 38:05Speaker 3: if it starts drifting towards another side, you'll see me
- 38:08Speaker 3: push it out of the way if it does mix.
- 38:10Speaker 5: Yeah, you gotta create boundaries. Yeah.
- 38:12Speaker 3: Yeah, So all of that to say that in November,
- 38:16Speaker 3: we're gonna be covering Eli Roth's Thanksgiving, which is one
- 38:22Speaker 3: of the best holiday themed slasher films in recent memory
- 38:26Speaker 3: in my opinion. Eli Roth always gives a great commentary
- 38:31Speaker 3: track and then also too, we are supposed to beginning
- 38:33Speaker 3: Thanksgiving two around that time. This is his scenes through it,
- 38:38Speaker 3: so that'll be a fun, you know, a fun one
- 38:40Speaker 3: to put out. Thanksgiving will be on the Brain, so
- 38:42Speaker 3: that'll be coming out in November. And then, like I said,
- 38:44Speaker 3: either Garrett or Christian will be on that one. These
- 38:46Speaker 3: are the two episodes that we're flipping, but December is
- 38:52Speaker 3: actually the one I'm looking forward to most. And the
- 38:55Speaker 3: December episode is because of my wife. I remember we
- 38:58Speaker 3: were recording one night and we were kind of figuring
- 39:00Speaker 3: out the slate for December. Originally, I think we were
- 39:06Speaker 3: going to talk about nas Faratu, the Robert Eggers one. Yeah,
- 39:10Speaker 3: and my wife overheard that from the other room and
- 39:14Speaker 3: suggested that we do Misery. So very very excited for that.
- 39:20Speaker 3: I think that was directed by Rob Reiner.
- 39:22Speaker 5: Correct, correct, And.
- 39:25Speaker 3: That episode we actually have two guests on, two guests
- 39:29Speaker 3: who are very very indebted to that movie for a
- 39:33Speaker 3: variety of reasons. I know both of them when they
- 39:35Speaker 3: reached out were like, dude, this movie means you know
- 39:40Speaker 3: the world to me, I really want this to be
- 39:44Speaker 3: you know, this is a movie that I love. I
- 39:45Speaker 3: really want this to be a great episode. And that
- 39:47Speaker 3: is Tim from the Average Reviews, who was our guest
- 39:50Speaker 3: on pet Cemetery two. And then we have Josh from
- 39:54Speaker 3: Beyond the Grave is also going to be coming on
- 39:57Speaker 3: from that.
- 39:57Speaker 4: Oh awesome.
- 39:59Speaker 3: Yeah, so two incredible guests for that one. I think
- 40:04Speaker 3: that's gonna be a fun movie to break down. I'm
- 40:05Speaker 3: actually planning on reading the book before we record, just
- 40:09Speaker 3: saying or listening to it via audiobook.
- 40:12Speaker 5: Okay, oude, you can't go wrong with Stephen King.
- 40:15Speaker 3: No, no, no, I I I read a lot of King,
- 40:20Speaker 3: and I still do. I have a problem like finding
- 40:26Speaker 3: the time to sit down and read a novel, for sure,
- 40:29Speaker 3: but I have become a bit accustomed to audiobooks, so
- 40:34Speaker 3: I'll probably just listen to the audiobook over the course
- 40:36Speaker 3: of you know, like November leading up to Not.
- 40:41Speaker 4: A bad idea.
- 40:42Speaker 5: I'm in the I'm in the middle of reading Carrie
- 40:44Speaker 5: right now, dude.
- 40:45Speaker 3: Carrie is like one hundred and fifty pages.
- 40:47Speaker 5: Dude. Somehow, it's taken me since October of last year.
- 40:53Speaker 5: So I'm not I should not be the Uh, don't
- 40:56Speaker 5: put me in charge of reaming Stephen King books before
- 40:58Speaker 5: we have to do this episode.
- 41:00Speaker 3: Carrie is one of his shortest I think outside of
- 41:03Speaker 3: books that are you know, short stories.
- 41:05Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 41:06Speaker 3: So yeah, so December is gonna be misery. I think
- 41:09Speaker 3: that's gonna be a fun one. That's very That's another
- 41:12Speaker 3: one to me next to Texas Chainsaw Mascer. That's a
- 41:16Speaker 3: little bit intimidating to take on that movie. But I
- 41:20Speaker 3: do own the Keyno four K. I got it when
- 41:22Speaker 3: there was that error where it was like six dollars
- 41:24Speaker 3: on Amazon. Oh yeah, that and Kujo I remember I
- 41:28Speaker 3: got both through like errors on Amazon, like at pricing.
- 41:33Speaker 4: Yeah it doesn't it. I have often I have never
- 41:36Speaker 4: seen Misery. I'm excited to watch it for the first time.
- 41:40Speaker 4: I still haven't watched it yet. I do know this.
- 41:43Speaker 4: I know the ankle smashing scene.
- 41:45Speaker 5: That's about it.
- 41:46Speaker 3: You heard it here first, folks, Chuck has.
- 41:48Speaker 4: Never seen misery, never seen misery.
- 41:50Speaker 3: You're gonna be in a lot of misery after that.
- 41:52Speaker 3: After Oh boy, that's a that's a crazy one, dude.
- 41:57Speaker 3: You might you might want to, Like I think, when
- 41:59Speaker 3: you're finished misery, you need to get up, go to
- 42:01Speaker 3: your bidet, high pressure, right to the face, you know,
- 42:08Speaker 3: and just like that. That's the season two slate A
- 42:13Speaker 3: little sneak preview into season three. We are going to
- 42:16Speaker 3: be doing all shallows.
- 42:20Speaker 4: That's gonna be fun.
- 42:21Speaker 3: Oh yeah, even more intimidating than Texas Chance.
- 42:24Speaker 5: I'm asking, no way, Yeah, I mean, dude, I'm just
- 42:29Speaker 5: nervous to have to try to say half of the
- 42:31Speaker 5: names live. By the time we're done, we'll be well
- 42:35Speaker 5: versed in Italian.
- 42:37Speaker 3: Well, I think I think we should all learn how
- 42:40Speaker 3: to speak Italian before that season and then we can.
- 42:43Speaker 4: It's gonna be a whole season of basically just our
- 42:45Speaker 4: Spider Labyrinth episode.
- 42:47Speaker 3: Yeah, that is true, that did happen. We did struggle,
- 42:53Speaker 3: but no, very very exciting. There's gonna be so many
- 42:56Speaker 3: episodes too that are coming out that are not planned
- 42:59Speaker 3: right now, that are going to be very impromptu. We're
- 43:02Speaker 3: really hoping to put out an episode pretty much every
- 43:05Speaker 3: single week from August first forward is kind of the goal.
- 43:09Speaker 3: It's going to be a lot of work on our end,
- 43:12Speaker 3: but that's okay, this is what we do. You know. Also,
- 43:15Speaker 3: I would be remiss if I didn't mention that season
- 43:18Speaker 3: one was the season that got us with someone's favorite productions,
- 43:25Speaker 3: that podcast network and incredible lineup of other podcasts that
- 43:28Speaker 3: I would encourage everybody to go listen, to go check out.
- 43:32Speaker 3: You know. Now we're affiliated with Bonus Features and stuff,
- 43:36Speaker 3: Ryan and Will. They put a ton of work into
- 43:39Speaker 3: visual essays, audio commentaries and such that is now we're
- 43:43Speaker 3: part of that team. We're part of that lineup. So
- 43:46Speaker 3: very excited to bring a lot forward. And I'm very
- 43:49Speaker 3: thankful to everybody who's listened, everybody who's shared, everybody who's
- 43:54Speaker 3: given us a chance. We were number fifty one on
- 43:57Speaker 3: the top us podcast for film and TV on on
- 44:05Speaker 3: Apple Podcasts on Saturday or Saturday and Sunday, So that
- 44:11Speaker 3: was a wild feeling, you know. Yeah, so it's kind
- 44:16Speaker 3: of crazy. We are now officially available everywhere pretty much
- 44:19Speaker 3: anywhere you can find podcasts, and then we're going to
- 44:21Speaker 3: be on YouTube. And the YouTube ones are going to
- 44:23Speaker 3: be slightly different because the audio ones were really trying
- 44:31Speaker 3: to build a certain style and ambiyonce a mood with
- 44:35Speaker 3: those that kind of make the experience better for the listener,
- 44:39Speaker 3: are more engaging for the for the listener. Uh, the
- 44:42Speaker 3: YouTube videos will be pretty much raw, and we'll have,
- 44:45Speaker 3: you know, a statement beforehand that does say that, but
- 44:49Speaker 3: you know, people people, there are people who prefer that,
- 44:51Speaker 3: there are people who are going to discover us on YouTube.
- 44:55Speaker 3: You know, people will probably prefer looking at our ugly mugs.
- 44:58Speaker 3: I don't know why. I mean, Steve, you're very handsome, Chuck,
- 45:00Speaker 3: you're beautiful.
- 45:01Speaker 5: Thanks Chris.
- 45:03Speaker 3: I don't know who wants to stare at us for
- 45:05Speaker 3: three hours, but you know, my wife is there me.
- 45:07Speaker 5: This is the beyond the blood, uncut, raw and uncut.
- 45:11Speaker 3: Beyond the beauty beyond. Yeah, there we go. So I'm
- 45:18Speaker 3: incredibly excited. I mean, we've already started research and stuff
- 45:21Speaker 3: for for August, which is you know, we're gonna blink
- 45:24Speaker 3: and it's gonna be here, you know what I mean.
- 45:28Speaker 3: There's so much into works, man. I mean, I wish
- 45:31Speaker 3: I could lay out how much there is to do,
- 45:35Speaker 3: just to kind of give everybody an idea, but then
- 45:36Speaker 3: that wouldn't be fun, right. We gotta make this look easy.
- 45:39Speaker 5: I will say though, with this preview episode, this gives
- 45:43Speaker 5: everyone more than enough time to if they don't already
- 45:46Speaker 5: have these releases in their collection, gives them an opportunity
- 45:50Speaker 5: to at least get a chance to either watch them,
- 45:51Speaker 5: pick them up, support physical media. That's a big part
- 45:55Speaker 5: of the reason why we do this.
- 45:57Speaker 3: Yeah, that's everything. That's the foundation of what we do.
- 46:00Speaker 5: M h.
- 46:01Speaker 3: You know, I've personally had people contact me and say like, hey,
- 46:04Speaker 3: I've never listened to an audio commentary before in your
- 46:07Speaker 3: show encouraged me to and that was awesome, you know,
- 46:11Speaker 3: And thankfully these boutique labels are investing into that and
- 46:15Speaker 3: we're going to continue getting more of these. I think,
- 46:18Speaker 3: I think when people say the negative dramatic, when people
- 46:22Speaker 3: talk about the negative dramatic changes with physical media, they're
- 46:25Speaker 3: specifically honing in on the studio stuff. But even like
- 46:30Speaker 3: lions Gate Limited who which I don't buy because I'm
- 46:32Speaker 3: not a steel book guy, but even those are coming
- 46:34Speaker 3: out with new commentaries. So even in the studio space,
- 46:38Speaker 3: you know, they're finding that the boutique treatment is working
- 46:40Speaker 3: and it's increasing sales. So the influence is there and
- 46:44Speaker 3: it's it's radiating, you know what I mean. Absolutely, I
- 46:49Speaker 3: can't thank you guys enough for being on this ride,
- 46:52Speaker 3: you know, for taking this on. Yeah, I mean, I
- 46:56Speaker 3: can't thank Ryan enough from someone's favorite production, will that
- 47:00Speaker 3: whole team, every other podcast on there, who embraced us
- 47:03Speaker 3: with open arms, very bust, every follower. You know, we
- 47:06Speaker 3: started the Instagram, so there is a beyond the blood
- 47:09Speaker 3: Pod Instagram page. Now everybody who went over there just
- 47:14Speaker 3: all of it in general, It's been very heartwarming to
- 47:18Speaker 3: know that we that we have an idea that works,
- 47:23Speaker 3: you know, and hopefully drives education, and we could just
- 47:28Speaker 3: keep doing that and keep building this thing. So I
- 47:31Speaker 3: want to ask before we go, though, Chuck, what are
- 47:34Speaker 3: you looking forward to most in season two?
- 47:39Speaker 4: Oh? I'm looking forward to all the new episodes that
- 47:46Speaker 4: are going to be implemented, which we can't really speak
- 47:49Speaker 4: of outside of the main episode and the after hours.
- 47:53Speaker 4: We got a lot of cool stuff lined up, and
- 47:54Speaker 4: I'm very excited for all these opportunities that we're going
- 47:59Speaker 4: to have now because of joining someone's favorite productions.
- 48:02Speaker 3: Dude, I think people are gonna be shocked at some
- 48:05Speaker 3: of the stuff that we have going on, but we'll
- 48:07Speaker 3: leave that at that. Yeah, Steve, what about you, man,
- 48:10Speaker 3: what are you looking forward to most about season two?
- 48:13Speaker 5: I'm pumped to be able to connect with so many
- 48:16Speaker 5: great guests that we're gonna be having on here, and
- 48:20Speaker 5: the movie selection that we chose for the season just
- 48:22Speaker 5: has me so amped, Like, just hopefully it gives everyone
- 48:26Speaker 5: an opportunity to check out these movies and or even
- 48:30Speaker 5: after we get these episodes out there, hopefully inspires you know,
- 48:34Speaker 5: maybe like new listeners out there to check some of
- 48:36Speaker 5: these movies out for sure.
- 48:38Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, absolutely look forward to. So from a week
- 48:44Speaker 3: after this episode goes live, we're gonna be having a
- 48:46Speaker 3: brand new after Hours episode come out. We're gonna be
- 48:48Speaker 3: talking about some new physical media, some new movies we've watched,
- 48:52Speaker 3: so you're not gonna miss us for too long, you know,
- 48:54Speaker 3: And then possibly a week maybe two weeks after that,
- 48:57Speaker 3: we're gonna have the Summer Special, and then we're gonna
- 48:59Speaker 3: be leading right into you know, the August episode of
- 49:02Speaker 3: season two. So you know, we still have a lot
- 49:04Speaker 3: coming this summer. It's not it's not gonna be a
- 49:06Speaker 3: blank slate for you know, for a while now possibly
- 49:10Speaker 3: ever again we quit, we go full time, quit our jobs,
- 49:16Speaker 3: take this thing to the top, right, Chuck says, as
- 49:19Speaker 3: he's as he's like already having financial worries in his
- 49:22Speaker 3: head about quitting his shop.
- 49:30Speaker 5: We'll see.
- 49:32Speaker 3: But yeah, so that's everything. Make sure you guys go
- 49:34Speaker 3: over to Instagram follow us over there. That's beyond the
- 49:37Speaker 3: Blood Pod. We'll be putting up a ton of new
- 49:40Speaker 3: updates over there. We also put up just some fun
- 49:43Speaker 3: stuff about the when we when we have an episode
- 49:45Speaker 3: come out, we kind of take the whole month to
- 49:49Speaker 3: put out content about that movie. So we've been putting
- 49:53Speaker 3: up a ton of stuff about the burning, sharing some
- 49:56Speaker 3: cool stuff about that. So make sure to go follow
- 49:59Speaker 3: their Chuck. How can people find you on Instagram?
