Transcript
- 0:01[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the Mile High Huddle Podcast with your football freeze, Chad Jensen and Zach Kilmer.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: Remember, Broncos Country is not a geographical location.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's a state of being.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome in everybody.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_02]: It is the Mile High Huddle podcast on your host, Chad Jensen with me is my fellow football priest.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_02]: You know him.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_02]: You love him.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_02]: Zach Calberman Zach.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_02]: First things first, the big news of the day, the Denver Broncos.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not sure we know the actual value yet, but the Denver Broncos as we talked about yesterday on the show.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_02]: They did not tender, interior offensive lineman, Alex Pelchewski.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_02]: Instead, they resigned him not to a one, but to a two-year deal, your gut reaction.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'll pat our selves on the back really quickly, because we called that exactly.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_01]: We said that Pelchew probably will, who the Broncos have given them an extension.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_01]: And I said, maybe it's who you're extension.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_01]: And that would be an indication that they want to move on from Ben Powers.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_01]: Because where they're smoked, they're fired with powers,
- 1:10[SPEAKER_01]: with trade indications and rumors and restructural rumors release rumors.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_01]: I think this is exactly that.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_01]: They want to keep out to around if anything as a spot starter or swing guy, but he can also be a, I think, and maybe the coaching staff believes a long-term starter or at least then powers replacement.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: This is interesting.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I wouldn't be surprised if coming very soon, powers is either released or restructured.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, it is kind of, it does point that way a little bit more, but it's a contract here.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_02]: So it would be a little bit difficult to restructure him just because there's no future years to push money into or whatever, but I'm sure where it comes to Zack, salary cap, boo-do, where there's a will, there's a way, but then power since what was it Monday directly
- 2:05[SPEAKER_02]: as a strong cut candidate.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_02]: I personally think it would be a mistake.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_02]: I think the Broncos are not in a desperate cap situation.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_02]: I think that the Broncos have wisely invested in their offensive line.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_02]: It has served them well in terms of, you know, 24 wins, a playoff win, a FC West crown over the past two years.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm not trying to hurry too much to ruin or change a good thing.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_02]: And that's not taking anything away from Paul Chesky, but let's remember, up until this past these and Ben Powers, the first two years he was in Denver, and then dating back to the Baltimore, he played over a thousand SNAPs.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_02]: So it'll be interesting to see how it shakes out.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know, like Rodney and a lot of Broncos fans are saying, and that was the rumor as well as maybe the little trade them, but I just don't see another team taking on the contract for a player that's probably going downhill at we can disagree.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Broncos fans, Broncos country split on that.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_01]: I thought Palcho, the dropoff wasn't that noticeable.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_01]: And when powers came back, there was suddenly more pressure along the interior.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I did all 100% agree with you that it seemed like it took him a little little time to get his football legs back beneath him powers once he came back in late in the season for sure pop a barrier to so good to see you this Thursday night my brother hope you're doing well.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_02]: He says good evening Broncos country hashtag god bless the USA and let's go bow who is a brand new dad that his baby was born on his birthday talk about a birthday present of a lifetime.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_02]: Riley Bell is the name of the baby and in the images bows walking out with her in the in the car carrier, whatever you call those things on his own two feet so good for both congrats to his wife is he cool stuff.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yep, thank you David.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_02]: We also have here, Sam Bam, who wants to bring that to the four, great to see another deer member in a, and a bona fide Mount Rushmore superstar.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_02]: Says even the guys got ahead out to a meeting.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm sending my super chat before I leave, he'll circle back, don't worry.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_02]: He says congrats to Bowen, is he nicks on welcoming their daughter Riley pretty cool that her and Bow have the same birthday go Broncos, that it is.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_02]: It is cool, man.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_02]: I think she'll grow up to kind of ruin that.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: But you know, it depends on how many siblings there are.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_02]: If the next family's act ends up being a big family, even two or three kids.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_02]: Well, even if there are three kids, that's not a huge family.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_02]: But it's a good size to American family.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_02]: You know, parents that kind of loose, if it's just one kid, though, then you can kind of separate the specialness and make sure that on that day, Bo gets the special treat, but Dads don't really care as much, everybody knows this, but making sure that baby girl fills the love of her special day, you know, like shock and awe in a good way.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's definitely cool and we appreciate the super Sam good luck with your meeting and we'll talk to you soon.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, buddy, stoked to hear from you.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_02]: Let me see who else we got here.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_02]: We got, I am Barb Eric, is that what it says?
- 5:14[SPEAKER_02]: Brother, I'm sorry if I'm not recognizing you because nowadays YouTube shows the handles instead of the account names.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_02]: And so sometimes there's a discrepancy, but either way, brother, thank you so much for the super.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you for being a member.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_02]: says I think this is almost a guarantee that powers get traded probably on draft day for a late round pick.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_02]: That's definitely something to watch because Zach, you had the numbers.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_02]: You could probably recite him better off the top of your head, but the incentive for the Broncos surprise surprise would be like post-une first if they do anything with Ben Powers, right?
- 5:50[SPEAKER_02]: In terms of a cut and a trade, it could get dicey because isn't their significant dead money in the event of a trade
- 5:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I don't have it pulled up in front of me.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_01]: Basically, no matter what they do, if they want to cut them or trade them, they better designate it after, like you said, a post-June first transaction because if they don't, if it's pre-June first, they're going to be taking on more dead money than they would be freeing up cap space.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: And if they wait till after-June first, that flips around.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_01]: So you might, you might end up seeing that.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, under team taking on this contract.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_01]: I think he ends up ultimately getting cut.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know when that's going to happen, but it would be after-June first.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, man, almost a guarantee.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_02]: It definitely makes you start thinking that way a little stronger, but I'm not quite there with you yet, Eric, that it's almost a guarantee.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_02]: But I think my part's feeling a little bit closer to that side of the issue.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see how it shakes out.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_02]: Thanks so much, brother.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_02]: For the for the super chat and oh, it's Eric Flynn.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_02]: It's Eric Flynn, brother, see now we know.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you bud for clearing it up.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_02]: That would have been easy, right?
- 7:00[SPEAKER_02]: Your handle, the discrepancy is what sometimes makes this not recognized, but thank you so much, Big Dog.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_02]: And we appreciate you clarifying that for us.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_02]: We also have here Eric Holt checking in, Big Dog.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_02]: What's going on?
- 7:14[SPEAKER_02]: Very generous super chat saying hey guys, I don't know if you remember or not when I chimed in about pent up then powers, but the signing of Alex Paul Chesky makes it easy to move off powers and I know exactly where to send him to the jets with steady for the 44th pick a really high second rounder.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_02]: thoughts.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I don't know.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_02]: I was doing a quick curation Zach of the comment section from it was either last night's show or the previous show, both of which for MHH pod were titled around the Jared Stidham trade rumors.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_02]: And we're talking, you know, maybe a third, you don't move unless it's a third type thing.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_02]: People were just laughing their butt off.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_02]: There's no way the
- 8:02[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know, Zach, maybe if you pair them with Ben Powers, you can push it all the way up into the middle of the second round or top 10, I guess, top 12 of the second round.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I would do this trade in the heartbeat and I think a lot of other Broncos fans would.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_01]: I think George Peyton would.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that Darren Moogie would the JXGM.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so we'll see.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_02]: By the way, Alex Palteski was under contract this time last year.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_02]: And so it's been powers that didn't have any specific implications on Ben powers now big difference there Ben powers was not entering a contract year and he wasn't coming off a injury riddled season so that has kind of changed the complex and I will admit and acknowledge yeah Scott says not only that, but they'd have to pick up the jets.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_02]: Ben Powers contract.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, he's making some pretty good coin.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_02]: We have Shannon Mills checking in off the top row.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, much.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_02]: I dear, dear member, a dear friend, bona fide superstar.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_02]: We love you, Shannon.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you so much.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_02]: You've been phenomenal.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, every single episode, but this week, doing just amazing stuff to help us keep the lights on during this kind of slower period of the NFL calendar.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_02]: So thank you so much.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_02]: Hope your tooth is feeling better.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_02]: She says, good evening, Chad Zach and Scott and Broncos Country and Glad Palcho was extended.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_02]: That offensive line will need some tweaking with him the next year or so.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_02]: and any preparation for that is smart.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_02]: So definitely at worst, Zack, the palcho re-signing, solidifies their swing guard guy, and by the way, back up right tackle, you know, while he was playing in place of Ben Powers,
- 9:49[SPEAKER_02]: If the Broncos needed a snapper to it, right tackle from a Glensheap Frank Crumb would go in.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_02]: But now I wonder if everyone's healthy and then, you know, McGlenshea Stubbs' toe, is that going to be palcio going in?
- 10:03[SPEAKER_02]: Or is it going to be Frank Crumb?
- 10:04[SPEAKER_02]: Time will tell.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_02]: But the Broncos Zach are going to continue to invest heavily in that offensive line.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_02]: It is a core philosophy, Sean Peyton, learned and bought into from Bill Parcells.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you can't have too many decent up-and-coming offensive linemen, young prospects to build around.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_01]: There's also Nick Gargulo, that's coming back from injury.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_01]: We don't know what he's going to look like, but the Broncos were very high on him being maybe a potential future starter.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_01]: So they have some players in the pipeline to the extent where that's why I'm confident they can move off Ben Powers.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_01]: But we'll see how that shakes out.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_01]: Regardless, Shannon, thank you so much for your generosity as you show each and every day.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_02]: By the way, Scott's clarifying, he meant to say that I miss interpreted, he said, I'm saying that the Broncos would have to pay powers contract in a trade, which would defeat the purpose of moving him.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, food for thought on that front, but Shannon, it's going to be really fun to see how things shape up.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_02]: There are also some options in this draft.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_02]: some decent interior players at the top of the draft, some decent tackles.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_02]: Although Zach, they haven't drafted a tackle still since Garrett Bowles first round pick 2020.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_02]: Or 2017, sorry.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's crazy.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_01]: That's been that long, but this could be the year.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like you said, Sean Peyton, always values offensive linemen.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_01]: He might have given himself a way a little bit by talking about it could be the Broncos first round pick or second round pick could be a very high round they use a pick on an offensive lineman.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_01]: So it's always smart to protect your quarterback.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_02]: no doubt about it.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, Shannon, we love you.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_02]: Appreciate you so much.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_02]: I hope you're toothed is feeling better.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_02]: And there's nothing worse than at least what I've experienced.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_02]: I hate tooth pain.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_02]: You know, that can really ruin your day, ruin your week.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_02]: So love you.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_02]: We got Sue Gibson, a dear member saying that John Franklin Myers, Zach.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_02]: will go to the Titans so it's great to see you and you know that's been more of the scuttle but it's not surprising anybody close to the mile high city anybody who's been paying attention locally but we've known since at least I mean the buy when we learned that amidst all the three
- 12:21[SPEAKER_02]: Luke Wattenberg that the Broncos did not even approach JFM that he was pretty much as good as going.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_02]: For what reason, I still have a hard time figuring out other than they've already got so much money invested in the D-line and yet almost everybody else on the D-line that has a key role got an extra, got a new contract over the last 12 months or so, DJ Jones, Zach Allen, Malcolm Roach, ah, no room left in the budget for JFM.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, when you look real quick, Zach in comparison to the production from the Alpro Zach Allen.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we're talking about JFM, a guy who gave you 14 and a half sacks from an interior position over the last two years.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_02]: So the broth goes for whatever reason, seem content to say, audio.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, uh, the first red flag for me was when they drafted CV on Jones, uh, they used a third round pick on a player that plays the same exact position as JFM and, uh, they were grooming him along the season for that role.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_01]: I thought so I want him to come back.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_01]: It's been a pleasure watching JFM play with the Broncos last couple seasons.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_01]: He is going to get an absolute bag on the open market.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_01]: I heard upwards of $20 million a year that kind of answers the question why the buckles aren't going to resign and because they have priorities elsewhere.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_01]: I hope he does well.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_01]: I hope he lands somewhere good, whether it's Tennessee, someone like Atlanta, what have you.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_01]: He's a really good player and I've enjoyed watching him play at Denver.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we're going to have to say audio, goodbye to JFM, and I think the aside from the interior pressure thing that he just makes a difference, I'm sorry, but he does is he's kind of attitude, you know, maybe not that quite the don't ever you know what with us mentality of the Derek Wolf.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_02]: era, but kind of like that, you know, like just put up with nothing has that attitude that mindset, that aggressiveness, that swagger that you like up front.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_01]: He's a dog.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_01]: He needs some dogs on defense.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_01]: Chad, the Broncos went way too long without them, since I keep to lead pretty much until they started importing these players again.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_01]: That's I grew with you.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_01]: That's part of the reason I
- 14:35[SPEAKER_02]: We got Roger the string guy checking in saying it looks like a cap saving trade package is coming together just like I've been predicting.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not sure exactly what he's talking about there.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_02]: Now let's include Cooper Jonathan Cooper and our 30th 30th overall pick trade up with the jets for Hall and their number 16 picksack is that of is that a commensurate draft exchange that you could live in the real world.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think so.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think the jet's, I like the way you're thinking.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's very creative.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know the jet's would do this trade though.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_01]: You got Rod's saying, I sure wish we could get the jet's number two pick to finally get that true elite RB1 like love.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_01]: Alas, Hall is a great RB1.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_01]: I'm good with Hall then, seducate 16, stick it chiefs.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, regardless of how the, the configuration shakes out to me, they could still go out and get a kind of walker.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_01]: They can get a knowledge year.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_01]: They can get a Rico doubtal.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_01]: They can get a Travis ETN.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_01]: They can sign in a joke, but if they get to the draft without addressing tight end, you have to seek, or you can take a linebacker, there's a lot of different ways the Brock has can go about attacking the offseason, but I think one thing, Raj, that's non-negotiable here, is they have to try at least to import the best quality players at positions of need, running back and receiver.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_02]: He says, one more prediction, if we trade coupe, then we bring back Vaughn for five to 10 place per game at the veteran minimum to finish his career with a Super Bowl win in Denver.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, we'll see, dude, very interesting stuff.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, Vaughn still campaigning.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_02]: So we got the rock check and end saying, hit those thumbs up, subscribe, all that good stuff, really appreciate your buddy.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_02]: Going to bat force, good evening, right back at you to the rock.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_02]: We got Mike Thompson saying, having both Zach Stevens and Mike Cliff suggests Denver's going to more or less run it back with, you know, their roster as is.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_02]: In other words, not make big free agent splashes would be a great smoke stream out screen, a downer if it's true.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, well, look, guys, at this stage, no one knows nobody really knows, guys.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_02]: Like,
- 16:45[SPEAKER_02]: The Broncos, let me ask you this, that last year, free agency, would you say the Broncos showed some aggressiveness in how they approached it?
- 16:59[SPEAKER_02]: Some, yeah.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_02]: What about the year prior?
- 17:03[SPEAKER_02]: I'm trying to think of the 2024 free agent class.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_02]: but right before Bogot here, put a pin in that.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_02]: I would say they're pretty aggressive in 2023, bringing in McGlenshee, bringing in our Ben Powers.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_02]: So my point here is, we'll pull up 2024 in a minute, but my point here is,
- 17:34[SPEAKER_02]: The Broncos was Sean Payton, the George Payton, Sean Payton, tandem.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_02]: They've never just sat on their hands in free agency.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_02]: Like they make moves.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_02]: I would categorize McGlinchie and powers is kind of bigger splash moves.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_02]: Not sexy positions, but big splash, especially Zack as it applies to impact.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_02]: Cannonball on the salary cap, last season, Evan Ingraham.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_02]: Talonohufanga, Drake Greenlaw, I remember one of them from 2024.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_02]: Of course, Josh Reynolds, that didn't pat it out too well.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_02]: But my point here is,
- 18:09[SPEAKER_02]: they're going to make some moves guys now are they going to go swinging for the fences for the tier one free agents like the Kenneth walkers or the david and jokers or you know we'll see i have my doubts but they're going to bring in some guys to help compliment what i think they i'm waiting for here's that i was just right in this up to day and i'm serving back to you was you know listing all of the free agents denbers own free agents
- 18:33[SPEAKER_02]: who stays who goes it might be fun at some point in this episode to go through that exercise and get your thoughts on it but they got some decisions of their own to I mean I'm glad to see that three of the dominoes have fallen in the form of J. Kwann Macmillan I guess Tyler but day is going to be ERF aid and then of course palcho coming back on a two-year deal but guys there are still upwards of 20 additional decisions that need to get made so how is that going to shake out the legal
- 19:01[SPEAKER_02]: And in a perfect world on some of those guys, you'd like to get to them, get them signed, if you want them back, before other teams can start calling them.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's why I said the Broncos were somewhat aggressive last year.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_01]: They were aggressive on defense, getting Hufanga and Drey Greenlaw.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_01]: But they didn't do it to me, do enough to satisfy the offensive needs.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_01]: They brought in JK Dobbins, they brought in Evan Ingram.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_01]: Those were players that you were trying to get value on.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_01]: Those aren't like studs.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_01]: Those aren't true like elite home run hitters.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_01]: Go out this off season and sign a Kenneth Walker.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_01]: Go out and trade for a Garrett Wilson or Jalen Wattle.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_01]: Those are home run hitters.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I hope to see on offense this off season.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_02]: So 2024 kind of was the least.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_02]: So so I guess here's the good way to look at it.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_02]: Is it going to be more like the 2325 free agent moves?
- 19:51[SPEAKER_02]: Or is it going to be more like 2024?
- 19:52[SPEAKER_02]: So I'll just remind everybody real quick.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_02]: Josh Randall's as I mentioned, 2024, Lil Jordan Humphrey, Matt Pert, Cody Barton coming in on that one year deal.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_02]: Spare no expense.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_02]: Let's see, and then, you know, like bringbacks, like Will Lutz, Adam Trautman, Michael Burton.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, Malcolm Roach.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_02]: Malcolm Roach was part of that, 2024, and then Brandon Jones.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_02]: So a little bit more under the radar, not huge splashes, but think of those names I just mentioned, among them, some pretty serious role players, including LUTs, Roach, Brandon Jones.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_02]: So,
- 20:34[SPEAKER_02]: I think it'll probably end up Zach B and somewhere in between like a 2024 style class meets a 2025 like somewhere in between it's not going to blow anyone's mind like anybody finding for the big trades or like you know those tier one guys it might not happen.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I would hope it'd be more than 24 because the Broncos are no longer shackled by Russell Wilson and that was the year they were taking on for most of the Russell Wilson dead money.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_01]: So again, you're right.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_01]: They don't need to go out and spend like you would on Madden hand over fist and be reckless, but you have the opportunity finally to be more aggressive go out and capitalize off that while you have the Super Bowl window.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_02]: Chase, good to see you pal.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you so much for being the supporter that you are, buddy.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_02]: He says DJ Moore, who was traded today to the bills, should help the bills.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_02]: I'm fine, missing out on giving up a second rounder and having to pay it at contract, though.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_02]: What were your thoughts, Zach, on the move, more making his way to upstate New York?
- 21:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I agree with Chase here.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_01]: I understand what Buffalo is trying to do and you know what that's what I want the Broncos to do be aggressive and go out and help your quarterback get them more weapons, but I know other picks or whatever went back to Chicago in this trade.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_01]: I thought a second rounder for DJ Moore was kind of high, but we'll see how that works out for.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_02]: I agree, shout out, Jordan, good to see you pal, Jordan Lewis in the house, another dear member, David Yunkin, yes indeed, good to see you pal, he says, Sean Payton said, he likes the receivers he has, it's the running back tight end, the BS Joker role and line backer.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_02]: So the three positions he decided, remember, Sean Payton, every once in a while, Zach,
- 22:16[SPEAKER_02]: He probably regrets, like off the top of his head, there have been a few things, one of which I'll defend him.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_02]: He didn't, he was actually trying to pay a compliment to Jacksonville, talking about them as a small market.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_02]: They should get more attention than they are getting type thing.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, my point is, more often than not, though, he's very controlled, polished, likes to hear himself talk at the podium, but he knows what information he's letting out there.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_02]: And the three positions that he was willing to float himself, and then, of course, he tied it to the very simple self-evident observational look.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_02]: we got our own guys sitting free agency at lineback or running back and tied in, which is true.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_02]: They got three free agent tight ends hitting the market.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_02]: So those what would be the priorities I would think, you know, and then when he literally got asked about why receiver as David Young can points out, he really made it sound like they're happy with the guys they have that.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's weird because after the AFC title game Sean Peyton criticized his receivers for dropping passes, you know, and he said at the trade line we're happy with who we have they made no moves and then that happened in the AFC title game with the season on the line they fired the receiving coach partly because of that I would be surprised if they didn't make it concerted effort to fix the receiving core I don't know if they're going to go out and get a Jefferson for example, but they got a try chat to get a true number one in the building they don't have them on the roster right now.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_02]: It might be the draft.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_02]: To some fill, great to have you with us tonight, brother.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_02]: A great Facebook member of our community, dear supporters saying, good evening, Chad Zach, and Deacon Scott.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_02]: If we could get Dallas, Goddard, and Kevin Byrd, would you be happy?
- 24:00[SPEAKER_02]: Hashtag Bookham, MHH for Life, Broncos for Life.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_02]: I would be pleased with a Dallas Goddard Zach, like he could do, you know, he could check some of the tight end boxes that you need.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_02]: Let's remember Adam Troutman, he's kind of been your wide tight end, go to Guy, also happens to be ush on Peyton Guy, but then also Nate Adkins and Lucas Krollsack also hit in free agency.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_02]: So what's your answer here for Phil?
- 24:25[SPEAKER_01]: Kevin Bayard the safety.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_01]: I don't understand like we're all the safety talk is coming from but we haven't heard anything career threatening about Brandon Jones.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_01]: I know he'd be going into a contract here, but he was an excellent player when he's healthy and who found it has the other safety spot.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_01]: I'm spanking his right now and you will make no war and there you go.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I've been seeing a lot of talk with him and he's a good player, but like is that where you want to go with 30.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_01]: Do you need to safety that bad.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_01]: I like Dallas got hurt.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_01]: I'd be happy with him, but I just me personally.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_01]: I don't see the need for safety.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_02]: The one thing that you got to worry a little bit about is P.J.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_02]: Locke, Hitten Free Agency, and he is a starting caliber number three safety.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_02]: He showed in 2024 on one hand, Yikes.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_02]: Turns out we don't want him as our starter.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_02]: Let's go ahead and bring in Talonola Hufanga.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_02]: And then he gets that back surgery this time last year almost like an experimental type of deal gave him an extra inch in terms of his height get your minds out of the gutter and then Zach he's a he's a backup special teams guy for most of the year bran and Joe's Jones goes down down the stretch PJ lock is called on some big games he played really really well and especially in the playoffs.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_02]: So that's a lot of value walking out the door, a guy that you couldn't fall back on because he could play either spot at safety.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_02]: You know, so then again, as I'm saying this, the thought that comes to mind as well.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_02]: We're on the street is that they want to start trying to get Dev and Key more and more involved on the defense.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_02]: His absence or departure, I should say, lock.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_02]: Zach would certainly create the room for that.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_01]: Great point.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the Broncos have a few safety still in the pipeline that haven't gotten opportunity.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_01]: They don't know what they're going to be, what they have in them.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_01]: And Devon Key, Devon Key, whatever.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_01]: He's definitely won all pro as a special teamer, but let's see what he could do with safety.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_01]: You never know.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_01]: And if they want to bring back, if they need a third safety because PJ lock is leading, well, they can just resign PJ lock or go out and get somebody else.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't to answer your question, Phil, directly.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't put a priority
- 26:48[SPEAKER_02]: yeah i mean for what it's worth by our last season he's a three-time first team all pro you know he's a name that most people don't really think of Zack when they think of the best safety's in the NFL but he's a three-time all pro a three-time pro bulller he's led the NFL in interceptions twice including last year
- 27:08[SPEAKER_02]: And the downside is he's 32 so anyone that and he's going to be 33 in August, by the way, so anyone that signs him, you know, just understand he's pretty close to the wall and yet he's still one thing Zach went a guy makes the probal late in his career and you go off.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_02]: living off of that, you know, name cache, but he also made first team all pro.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_02]: So he still got some juice that would appear.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_02]: If the Broncos were desperate at safety, like if Brandon Jones was gone or a free agent, Bired would make some sense.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_02]: If you wanted to go spend and put him next to who found him, but we'll see, we'll see, Phil, good question, pal.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_02]: We got Shannon jumping back in.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you so much.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you so much.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_02]: She says the Broncos will do one thing always, and that is never show their hand.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_02]: I've been a fan for 48 years, and I've yet to figure out where the Broncos were going in free agency or the draft.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's a competent front office, Zach, does a good job to obfuscate their intentions, especially in the press, right in the public.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_02]: However, there have been a few moments, especially in the draft over the years, where we could see which way how that cookie was crumbling, garables was one example.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_02]: Drew Locke was one example.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_02]: Although, we did expect the Broncos to take
- 28:26[SPEAKER_02]: earlier than they ultimately did, Drew Lock that is.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I think this regime specifically those act, Peyton and Peyton do a really good job at creating whatever narrative in the press they want there to be relative to speculation on their intentions and then holding down the fort and doing whatever the plan is.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Chaz definitely right about that.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_01]: I can think of two predictions that came true and they're rare because the Broncos rarely like you said do what you want Dalton Ryzener and Lloyd Kushenberry both offensive linemen for whatever whatever that means.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_01]: But for agencies a different bucket, we all want the Broncos to spend like it's a video game, especially when they have money and needs elsewhere and they have a young quarterback to build around now, but
- 29:09[SPEAKER_01]: We have to also temper our expectations and realize George Peyton still has a little bit of power, and he still works in Pateco with Sean Peyton, and George is not one to overspend.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_01]: And Greg Pender, let me tell you something about a billionaire, they don't become billionaires by spending recklessly, but they become billionaires by being frugal.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_01]: So when he tells you, Pender, they're going to be opportunistically aggressive.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_01]: He means that they are not going to write blank checks.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_01]: If they have a player, they have high conviction on, they're going to go out and get them.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_01]: But we should all not expect this like Chad said a 2023 free agency or even a 2014 with L.A. sort of free agency when they just sign every star under the sun.
- 29:46[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_02]: Boyle boy that was a good time to be alive as a Broncos fan man that 2014 free agency swing, which came two years after the Broncos inexplicably like unthinkably somehow landed painting manning.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_02]: So, um,
- 30:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we'll see how it shakes out.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_02]: Shannon will though keep us guessing and we'll have a blast doing so from now until next week when free agency opens and then of course the draft stoked to have you along with us.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_02]: Jordan's just saying, hey man, I just wish we could get it tied in, get the tie-dend position right.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_02]: We haven't had a good tie-dend since Julius Thomas.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_02]: Thomas was a great move around big slot kind of tight end guy for a patent man and kind of offense, but Zach that dude didn't want to block couldn't block.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_02]: couldn't be bothered to block.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_02]: So he was a huge tell, at least like Evan Ingram, when he's out there and he's asked to block, he at least tries.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_02]: It might not be very good at it, but at least he sticks his nose in there and tries to block a guy, Julius Thomas, man.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_02]: You saw kind of the emperor without clothes when he signed that free agent deal was at Jacksonville, I think he landed and within a couple years he was out of the league.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_02]: So
- 31:03[SPEAKER_02]: Payton Manning Man, he made a lot of careers for a lot of folks out there, Zach, across Indian Denver.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_02]: That's for show.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, what, Jordan, Jeff Hirman didn't do it for you?
- 31:13[SPEAKER_01]: Or, or how about this one?
- 31:14[SPEAKER_01]: How about this one?
- 31:15[SPEAKER_01]: Jake, but didn't do it for you?
- 31:17[SPEAKER_01]: Or, I got one for you.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_01]: Greg Dolcech didn't do it for you.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they've brought those have this great track record of drafting tight ends.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_01]: If you can't tell how I agree with you, it's been a while since they found one a consistent weapon at tight end.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_01]: And we all thought we'd get that.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_01]: We got that in Evan Ingraham.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_01]: He was the furthest thing from that.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_01]: And I hope that they can rectify that this year.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_02]: Sue says we've got to get an exceptional tie-in to compete within our division.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_02]: Man, I still like, as disappointed Zack as I was by the overall role involvement and production of Evan Ingraham in his first year with the Broncos, I still wonder why it was such a low volume affair.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_02]: Like why, yeah, he finished there on the team and receiving, given that behind Portland
- 32:07[SPEAKER_02]: But like, what was the real reason he kind of failed to launch?
- 32:12[SPEAKER_02]: Was it a disconnect or like some of the Boobirds say out there's Zack Bownex just can't throw over the middle of the field.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_02]: He hates throwing over the middle of the field.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_02]: Was it scheme?
- 32:20[SPEAKER_02]: Was it the way Sean Peyton was trying to use him?
- 32:22[SPEAKER_02]: Because here's what's weird.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_02]: Sean Peyton has helped birth the modern age of pardon me of the past catching tight end.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_02]: When he brought Jeremy Shocky over from the giants to the saints,
- 32:36[SPEAKER_02]: He hasn't been able to quite get it right yet in Denver's act, but he's got the bona fides like, what was it in my point here, even asking the question is, could it still be that guy?
- 32:53[SPEAKER_01]: No, and I'll tell you why.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_01]: It's not the quarterback and it's not the scheme.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's Evan Ingraham.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_01]: And if you watch Evan Ingraham on film, he looks like a player that's not the Evan Ingraham that we thought we'd be getting based on his previous film.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_01]: I saw separation issues.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_01]: I saw athletic issues.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_01]: I just saw a guy who was not really comfortable in his gate.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_01]: And he had the injury.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_01]: I know it's tough to come back from that chat, but you had players, and I know it was low volume,
- 33:20[SPEAKER_01]: Adam Troutman was catching passes.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_01]: He's a tight end.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_01]: Lucas Crow before he got hurt.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_01]: He was catching passes.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_01]: He's a tight end.
- 33:27[SPEAKER_01]: There were so many tight ends in the Broncos system in the last couple years that still made an impact.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_01]: Why were so many goose eggs present with Evan Inger?
- 33:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's got to be the common denominator here to play here.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_02]: It's hard to refute it.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_02]: It's hard to refute that.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_02]: But he had last
- 33:45[SPEAKER_02]: uh, in 16 games he appeared in with two starts.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_02]: He did get 76 targets, which surprises me.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_02]: Like it didn't seem like it was that many.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_02]: 50 receptions, 461 yards in a touchdown.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_02]: I'm looking this up on my phone because I don't want to tempt fate with my connection.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_02]: But uh, you look at his career's act.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_02]: He had three years as a pro over a hundred targets.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_02]: One was his rookie year.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_02]: And then the other two years were his two probable nods.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_02]: And then everything else is somewhere between 65 targets and like 90 targets.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_02]: So it was kind of in other words, what I'm getting at here, Zach, four Evan Ingraham, minus the touchdown production.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_02]: He tied a career low.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_02]: It was a relatively average,
- 34:35[SPEAKER_01]: body of work for Evan Ingraham for what it's worth can you see that that's the biggest stat right there about Evan Ingraham he's going to be 32 chat in September before the season starts that's a player that father time is starting to affect it's not me hating on Ingraham I love this signing but if you watch the film he was he was like one of the comments that half stepping it I don't think it's a um
- 34:58[SPEAKER_01]: an effort issue.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_01]: I think he was giving effort.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think his body's responding.
- 35:01[SPEAKER_01]: And the Broncos have to start thinking about going young and not relying on a 32-year-old in-groom or Adam Troutman to be the answer at the position.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_01]: Do better for Bonix.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the the ideal solution for my free agent level would be go after David and Joku.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_02]: He's been in the league a long time, but he's not that old.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_02]: If memory serves he's 29.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_02]: The draft, but to get the guy in this draft, Zach, you know, he won't be there at 30, Kenyan Sadik, you know, I saw some comments from the short we put up yesterday, which was Nick and Eric talking about, what's the two tight ends in this draft class, you know, that you could realistically get to give you that ideal, check all the boxes, you got what you need it tight in, and of course he didn't mention Kenyan Sadik, because
- 35:56[SPEAKER_02]: into the top 15 in the draft, but, you know, he mentioned Sam Roush and what's that text is saying, him, kids name dude, Kirch, I don't know, it'll come to me, but my point here is people are hanging on to Kenyan Sadik because they saw few mock drafts well before the combine,
- 36:18[SPEAKER_02]: landing in Denver.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_02]: Guys, he is not going to be there.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_02]: So unless the Broncos were to trade up, which did you trade up for a tight end?
- 36:26[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I don't know.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_01]: I listen, we're talking about Denver trading for receiver, so if they don't do that, they'll have some extra capital to play with if they want to get a little aggressive.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_01]: But there's a lot of players you could sign as free agents.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_01]: Chad mentioned the joku.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_01]: There's Dallas got her who we talked about.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_01]: Isaiah likely can't.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_01]: There was some John who Smith just got released by Pittsburgh.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_01]: He could be a guy for you.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_01]: There's some past catchers out there.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_01]: And you just have to find one that you think and have some sort of ceiling and grow with your franchise quarterback.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_02]: Well said, and yeah, Kate Hawkins out there, I listed him as a realistic reagent target today in an article Chuck and he can play in line and he's just hitting his prime so honestly, all right, let's say Zack for contractual reasons or for whatever reason, they still believe in everning room, you hold their whole non to him.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_02]: Go get Kate Hawkins in free agency.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think you'd be paying top of the market.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_02]: You'd be paying like mid-market to get him.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_02]: He does have a little cashier, but not top of the market money.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_02]: Bring him in.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_02]: Bye-bye, Adam Troutman.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_02]: God bless him.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_02]: He's got a great connection.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_02]: He's part of, I think you got to respect the contributions he's made.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_02]: Troutman's act to the winning culture and the locker room culture, Sean Payton was trying to cultivate.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_02]: But now that it exists, audio's Adam Troutman.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_02]: take a tight end whatever one fits you and is there based on your board in the draft.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you're speaking my language completely.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_01]: I really like K-Dot and a lot and if they don't want to like use that's been top of the line money on an in joku who might get what I don't know 10 or 12 million a year, whatever K-Dot and would be much cheaper.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_01]: He can play in line.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_01]: He kind of reminds me of a Dallas got her and guys on a free to get his hands dirty.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_01]: He can go out and hit someone.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_01]: He can catch passes.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_01]: He's good in the red zone.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_01]: I watched him play with Baker Mayfield and for a young gunslinging quarterback like that, that would translate perfectly for someone like Bonix.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_02]: And he's young, you know, we're talking mid 20s, not late 20s.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_02]: And that's our 30s and that's definitely a pro.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_02]: So Drew, what's up, dude?
- 38:34[SPEAKER_02]: Good to see you tonight, big dog.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_02]: He says, and thank you for the super chat brother.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_02]: Is it really ing room for Sean Peyton doesn't utilize tight ends anymore?
- 38:44[SPEAKER_02]: Sean Peyton highlights Jimmy Graham, but that's the only tight end in years.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_02]: drafting another passcatching tight end would be a waste draft a blocker and more elite receivers.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you're on to something a little bit there.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know that it's that he doesn't utilize it or if his philosophy is changed, which could be the NFL does evolve Zach, but
- 39:10[SPEAKER_02]: A blocker is more what they need a guy who not just a blocker.
- 39:13[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, if you want a blocker put Frank Cromett tight in, it's not it you need a guy who can do both right and that's why to me.
- 39:20[SPEAKER_02]: Kate Otten would make a lot of sense, not troupe and like I'm seeing people we could always fall back on troupe and guys troupe and is like I'm sorry, you're scraping the bottom of the barrel.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_02]: for a wide tight end.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_02]: Look, he's an average perfectly passable average NFL pass catching tight end.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe slightly sub average, but his blocking guys, if when the Broncos didn't have a running back that could so easily create on his own, in other words, when JK Dobbins went down.
- 39:52[SPEAKER_02]: And they had to rely on RJ Harvey, who at times was swimming quite clearly.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_02]: He was in over his head for large swaths of week 11 until the end of the season.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_02]: A big reason you really need your blocking just to win.
- 40:05[SPEAKER_02]: in the concepts, right?
- 40:07[SPEAKER_02]: Like, and dude, he was a big reason Adam Traumman, that stuff was getting blown up.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_02]: So, gotta let him go, go get K-Dotten.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_02]: At least he can give you that true, wide tie-dend.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_02]: I can stay in, I can block, I can create some lanes, and I can run out and catch a pass.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't know, Drew, if it's, I, I don't think he had another tight end like Jimmy Graham on that level, and that's simply because he utilizes so many running backs at a time, he utilizes a lot of receivers, and there's only so many players that you can spend premium picks or money on.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_01]: So Jimmy Graham was one of them, but who is he really had on that level, other Jimmy Graham, I feel like if you give him a sedique, he's going to make him into a pro
- 40:54[SPEAKER_02]: Pretty sure they can bring him back on the cheap.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, of the three free agent tight ends.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_02]: That's the one that the Broncos should just bring back.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_02]: You know, he's a restricted free agent.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_02]: They're not going to tend to him, but they bring him back one year, one point 10, you know, 1.1 million, one more year.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_02]: because just as he was starting to kind of really have a role and the Broncos were really stoked on Adkins as their best blocking tight end.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_02]: All of a sudden, 2025 Zack, he really struggled with health, right?
- 41:24[SPEAKER_02]: He missed multiple games with multiple injuries.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_02]: So,
- 41:28[SPEAKER_02]: That factors into how they approach pain him, but he's just not a guy's act that they have to act on right away.
- 41:34[SPEAKER_02]: By the way, they can just kind of kick the can down the road, get through that first wave of free agency.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, now we know what we got, what we need, and then approach Nate Adkins.
- 41:42[SPEAKER_02]: But in my opinion,
- 41:44[SPEAKER_02]: He is the only one of the three in the three are troutman, Adkins, Lucas Crow.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_02]: He's the only one.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, if you want to count Mercedes Lewis, but he's a street free agent, you know, he's, I don't count him, but that's the only one, Adkins.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's just such a low vibrational move because if you bring him back, you're bringing back anger him and then you're basically running back the same room that you had in 25 or the last couple of years, you need to aim higher.
- 42:13[SPEAKER_01]: So if they do that fine, but go out in the draft and still spend a higher round pick on a higher ceiling tight end, address the position properly, or if you bring back Nate Adkins also go out and sign a K-dought and order a joke who don't just settle and don't just settle for the status quo.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_01]: That's all I'm saying.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_02]: We got DLJM, seven, eight, four, seven.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_02]: I'm trying to pull it up on YouTube so I can see the name, because I bet you we recognize this individual, but it's not wanting to pull up for me yet.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_02]: To new is the super chat, but either way, bro.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you so much.
- 42:48[SPEAKER_02]: He says best Broncos pod, thanks for all you do.
- 42:50[SPEAKER_02]: Cross the pond, by the way.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_02]: Proving right now there you have it living breathing evidence that Broncos country is not a geographic location It's a state of being so thank you pal really appreciate the support big duck Yeah, appreciate that man.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you I wonder why it's not showing up for me.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_02]: I'm pulling it up on the back end, and it's not It's not showing me anyway.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_02]: All right, appreciate your brother.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, Shiloh jumping in
- 43:20[SPEAKER_02]: The chiefs could tank in 2026.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_02]: My homes likely wouldn't be playing for anything if he came back in October or November.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_02]: He's a smart week one.
- 43:30[SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna, I thought I was gonna say, guys, we're following your foot.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_02]: Dude, Andy Reed doesn't have much time left.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_02]: You know, generally speaking, let alone in his coaching career.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_02]: So like,
- 43:42[SPEAKER_02]: They got to make hay while the sun's shining, Patrick Mahomes, the chiefs are sparing no expense to get him back on his feet.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_02]: I would be absolutely slobber knocker just knocked over Zack if he's not day one starter.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_02]: You might not see him in training camp.
- 43:59[SPEAKER_02]: You might not see him in breezes and at all, but then all of a sudden boom, he's there week one.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_02]: I'd be surprised if it doesn't shake out that way.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_02]: They are building themselves up some draft capital like they're fixing to reload.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_02]: So guys there The chiefs are going to continue to be a problem for the Broncos so long as my homes is there, but especially Zach my homes and read as a tandem
- 44:22[SPEAKER_01]: The NFL wants nothing more than to hand my homes the comeback player of the year and as soon as he takes one snap in week one he will be the winner of that award and you know what I hope he does I hope he comes back for week one because I want the braco's to beat Kansas City again at full strength this season.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_02]: See you later buddy.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_02]: Hope you're doing well.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_02]: Hope things go all right with the therapist.
- 44:51[SPEAKER_02]: He just got out of the hospital.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_02]: So he's getting back on his feet.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_02]: We're proud of him.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_02]: We're rooting him on.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_02]: We got a Shiloh also saying, Mark Schlerath, stink himself, pounding the table for Kate Otten.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_02]: I'm all in on that.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_02]: Dude, he's awesome.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_02]: He'd be a great addition and, you know, he'd kind of be like a 2024 caliber free agent signing, you know, not blowing anybody's doors down.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_02]: He's not going to get a ton of press other than what we create here on the local level, but boy, boy, he's a guy like Brandon Jones, who you sign relatively unheralded Zack, then comes in, gives you probal caliber impact.
- 45:30[SPEAKER_02]: That's what a kid ought and could do.
- 45:36[SPEAKER_01]: And Odden wouldn't have that ridiculous pressure of trying to live up to be the Joker for Sean Payton, like Evan Ingraham.
- 45:42[SPEAKER_01]: I kind of, you know, I'll say this for Ingraham.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_01]: He had a lot on his plate, learning a new playbook, a new team, an injury and also being the Joker.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_01]: And it never materialized.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_01]: It was just a joke in general, Odden would just be a tight end.
- 45:55[SPEAKER_01]: What a concept.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_01]: Just have a tight end on your roster that can get open in the middle of the field or in the red zone.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_01]: He's reliable.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_01]: He actually catches the ball and he can help out your young quarterback.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_01]: I'd be all for it.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_02]: Um, yes, Albert, officially I would like to keep Adkins, but I'm saying, monitor the market that first week of free agency.
- 46:19[SPEAKER_02]: And once you have made, you know, he's not your first option because obviously he was your,
- 46:26[SPEAKER_02]: third guy on the depth chart, you brought him in for heavy, you brought him in to block basically.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_02]: And then every once in a while, Sean Payton would get cute and work something in, especially in the red zone to get him a touch and a touchdown here and there.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, he's never not come through.
- 46:41[SPEAKER_02]: I hate using double negatives, but
- 46:43[SPEAKER_02]: You know, think about that.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_02]: Was it the Colts game 2024 Zack where he had that awesome touchdown where they fooled them in the red zone.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_02]: Bo next rolls out and adkins on play action is all by himself over on the left side walks in.
- 46:58[SPEAKER_02]: So he can give you something, but especially as a as a blocker.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_02]: He's not worth like breaking your neck trying to get him signed before March 9th because his market's gonna be relatively low.
- 47:09[SPEAKER_02]: So the Broncos, they say, hey, Nate Adkins, you keep us informed what kind of interest and offers you generate.
- 47:17[SPEAKER_02]: Your guy, we're definitely interested in bringing back.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_02]: We're gonna see how these initial dominoes fall and then we'll approach you.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that's probably how it shakes out.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Albert, I don't care.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_01]: Honestly, if they bring him back on a one year deal, great, if they don't, he's he's a kind of a dime, it doesn't replaceable player.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_01]: We're not talking about an all pro tight end.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll see how his market develops.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_02]: Rodney Garcia, who is a very consistent member of our community.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_02]: Brother, thank you for always being there, pal.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_02]: And I wanna invite you, become a member.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_02]: We need you, bro.
- 47:52[SPEAKER_02]: We need you.
- 47:53[SPEAKER_02]: He says, what do you guys think our free agent, first free agent move is resigned singleton, LOL?
- 47:59[SPEAKER_02]: So Zach, I guess you could say that today was their first official free agent move, right?
- 48:04[SPEAKER_02]: Like, great.
- 48:05[SPEAKER_02]: I mean the Jake that Jake Juan hasn't been announced yet like I already have the press release from the Broncos They've confirmed the Alex Paul Chesky thing like that's been done.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_02]: They got the pictures out there.
- 48:16[SPEAKER_02]: He's resigned So he technically Zack represents the first free agent move.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_02]: What's the second?
- 48:23[SPEAKER_01]: Definitely could be Singleton.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_01]: It could be K-Dotten, because, you know, for agencies like happening now, they don't even wait to legal tampering window to open anymore.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_01]: Move, you're getting reported today.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_01]: So it could happen at any time.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_01]: They can come to some sort of agreement or whatever a rumor.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_01]: I think it could be a running back like Travis ETN or Rico Dowdoll or Kenneth Walker.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_01]: But Singleton, we've heard the smoke from Mike Klyss is saying that he's going to get a substantial promotion financially from what he had last year.
- 48:52[SPEAKER_01]: That's a whole other conversation.
- 48:53[SPEAKER_01]: How I feel about that potential move, but I do think that is a good contender for the Broncos.
- 48:59[SPEAKER_01]: Second, official move, Chad.
- 49:03[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the guys that they got a priori or your ties bring him back of their own to me, Singleton, you got to decide is it gonna be Singleton or Sternan.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_02]: There's still that snowball's chance, but it's a chance nonetheless, like Lloyd Christmas.
- 49:17[SPEAKER_02]: So you're telling me that there is a chance they could bring back both.
- 49:21[SPEAKER_02]: But it depends on what Sternad's market is out there.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_02]: I think, because he really wants to be not only get paid and more than a one-year deal, he wants to be assured that he will have either started job or a chance to compete.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_02]: And I just, I don't see that happening in Denver.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_02]: I think Singleton is gonna be the initial priority between the two.
- 49:47[SPEAKER_02]: But to me, the next guy right now should be JK Dobbins.
- 49:52[SPEAKER_02]: That should it should be JK Dobbins, not as THE in all caps, the solution at running back, okay, move on.
- 50:00[SPEAKER_02]: But the first big step at showing up what is right now, a gaping hole on this roster, RJ Harvey, only guy under contract, yeah, they're gonna ERFA, but day of course they are, he's an ERFA, they all get ERFA, they all get tender dude.
- 50:17[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, J. K. Dobbins gave you 772 rushing yards in 10 games.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_02]: He can create, you know, he's already got that relationship with the team as George Peyton said he was a big hit around here.
- 50:29[SPEAKER_02]: And I think Zach, look, he had a better year with the chargers technically in terms of numbers and whatnot and stayed healthier and longer.
- 50:37[SPEAKER_02]: But the fact that he played on this chargers can't get press like the Broncos like they don't get the big as many you know prime time games all that stuff he's much more my point here JK Dobbins front of brain now I think for the NFL and if the Broncos take the approach of Alex monitor the market I think there's a really good chance someone gives him an offer the Broncos go and he's gone so I say make him.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_01]: the first move now will he be the the second move I should say will he be probably not but to me he would be a top priority I'm right there with you I would much prefer to bring back nobbons and singleton but I think Sean and George Peyton might feel different we'll see though I'm personally hoping for we I wake up to a headline like Broncos agreed to terms for trade uh for Garrett Wilson or Jalen Wattle that could be the first move as well second move whatever but we'll see it's going to be exciting nonetheless.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_02]: good point.
- 51:32[SPEAKER_02]: We got Troy back in the house with us, dude, back to back.
- 51:35[SPEAKER_02]: I love it, dude.
- 51:37[SPEAKER_02]: Great to see an OG from the MHH UN as you can see in his hashtag there.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_02]: From the city of brotherly love Eclipse, Stormborn, checking in to say happy Thursday, priests and Broncos family.
- 51:50[SPEAKER_02]: I love you all.
- 51:51[SPEAKER_02]: We love you too, Big Gok.
- 51:52[SPEAKER_02]: But my question is Brian Thomas, the wide receiver or AJ Brown.
- 51:57[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry if I missed piece from Philly and to be specific, he's saying, look, I know AJ's better, but who would the Broncos act be willing to bring in and or pay for?
- 52:12[SPEAKER_01]: This is like a completely subjective question to clips everyone is going to have different answers I would say neither would be my answer if I had you know if I could pick neither I would if I had a pick one though on picking AJ Brown and I'm only saying that on terms of his potential and what he's accomplished in the NFL I understand he's more of a of a polished Portland Sutton, but he's still a damn good receiver That you can rely on in the red zone down the field.
- 52:39[SPEAKER_01]: He could also break a game open
- 52:40[SPEAKER_01]: he's been proven that and I don't think what's happening in Philadelphia is it's been a little overblown he's taking some of the shade where it should have gone in jail and heard so the coach or whatever AJ Brown to damn good player and I would lie I wouldn't mind having him.
- 52:54[SPEAKER_01]: Brian Thomas Jr. might have a higher ceiling but he has a lower floor and we don't know what he's going to be he had one decent year or one good year I should say for a rookie and then he completely fell off a cliff this past season.
- 53:06[SPEAKER_02]: So just to give you context, I think we all kind of know how good and consistent AJ Brown has been, especially since he ended up in Philly to illustrate the Brian Thomas situation of why it's even a question.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_02]: And it's a good question.
- 53:21[SPEAKER_02]: So the good year Zack's referring to was his rookie year 2024.
- 53:26[SPEAKER_02]: He has 133 targets.
- 53:29[SPEAKER_02]: He catches 87 of him for 1282 yards and a whopping 10 touchdowns.
- 53:36[SPEAKER_02]: Last season, and by the way, he appeared in all 17 games as a rookie started 16.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_02]: Last season, Zach, he misses three games, so he only appears starts all 14, but 14 games.
- 53:49[SPEAKER_02]: He gets 91 targets, but his conversion ratio drops dramatically.
- 53:55[SPEAKER_02]: He only has 48 receptions for seven hundred and seven yards.
- 54:00[SPEAKER_02]: slightly lower than Troy production, Troy Franklin, and way fewer touchdowns.
- 54:04[SPEAKER_02]: One third of the touchdowns, Troy had.
- 54:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, only had two last year.
- 54:07[SPEAKER_02]: So that gives you a little bit more the context of why it's a question.
- 54:13[SPEAKER_02]: He's an interesting player, but like, I'm not bending over backwards or doing anything extraordinary for Brian Thomas, but that upsides there.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_02]: I think that was a good way to put it, Zach.
- 54:24[SPEAKER_02]: He has a higher upside, he's younger, but the floor is frighteningly low.
- 54:32[SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, he might need a change of scenery and it could all be better, you know, kind of like at least it appeared initially for Jerry Judy.
- 54:39[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's weird because he upgraded wholesalery with coaching, going to Liam Cohen and how Trevor Lawrence played toward the tail end of last season.
- 54:47[SPEAKER_01]: And he didn't benefit from it.
- 54:48[SPEAKER_01]: He was actually affected by it in a negative way.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's usually the other way around.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_01]: You got like Ben Johnson, look what he did in Chicago for all of the skill players there, including the quarterback Caleb Williams.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_01]: Just weird that BTJ would fall off a cliff, but if I had to, a cliff's take one of these guys, give me the proven guy, give me AJ.
- 55:10[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, Steve on Facebook, O'Neill, you got a cool with the language homey or we got a bounce here.
- 55:17[SPEAKER_02]: We appreciate your takes, but you can't talk like that due to the else we got a bounce here, all right?
- 55:23[SPEAKER_02]: So just fair warning, FYI, Steve O'Neill, toned down the language button.
- 55:28[SPEAKER_02]: All right, Troy, love you, big dog.
- 55:34[SPEAKER_02]: Let's see here,
- 55:37[SPEAKER_02]: Or we at time wise, ooh, geez, it's already 55 minutes.
- 55:40[SPEAKER_02]: Holy smokes.
- 55:41[SPEAKER_02]: All right, Zack, why do we do this?
- 55:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 55:44[SPEAKER_02]: We'll go through our final messages and while Zack's going through that, I'll take one last look at the chat, so don't anyone go anywhere.
- 55:49[SPEAKER_01]: Time always flies, man.

- 57:17[SPEAKER_02]: Well, it's kind of complicated.
- 57:21[SPEAKER_02]: It's not as if the Broncos that haven't tried to get younger, it's just that they've been very selective in the amount of resources in which they're willing to invest in getting younger.
- 57:32[SPEAKER_02]: So real quick, you got three former college free agents, Lavel Bailey.
- 57:41[SPEAKER_02]: Carina Reed, Jordan Turner, all of whom spent time over the last two years on the active roster.
- 57:47[SPEAKER_02]: They did spend a third-round pick on Drew Sanders, a couple of years back, injury bug has foiled that.
- 57:53[SPEAKER_02]: And so while those irons are in the fire warming up, they need someone to produce singleton, drag green lawn, Justin Strenad keeps coming back on the one-year deals.
- 58:06[SPEAKER_02]: So
- 58:07[SPEAKER_02]: I guess what he's really asking here Zack is why don't is it about time that the Broncos spend a high-round pick on a linebacker?
- 58:17[SPEAKER_02]: I get they might be a little traumatized from what happened with Drew Sanders who by the way was the highest drafted linebacker by the Broncos since DJ Williams in 2004 who was a first round pick, Sanders was a third round pick.
- 58:31[SPEAKER_02]: Is it time to go get one of the top
- 58:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's been time.
- 58:37[SPEAKER_01]: And Eric, I liken this to the situation at tackle that Chad mentioned earlier.
- 58:41[SPEAKER_01]: They haven't used a draft pick on a tackle.
- 58:43[SPEAKER_01]: I can't believe I'm even saying this sentence.
- 58:45[SPEAKER_01]: That's it's actually factual since 2017.
- 58:47[SPEAKER_01]: They haven't, they've tried to get by with gum and paper and just trying to band aid their way and inside lineback, or instead of addressing it properly,
- 59:02[SPEAKER_01]: blue ship talent.
- 59:03[SPEAKER_01]: So to answer what Chad asked me, yes, this is the time.
- 59:06[SPEAKER_01]: But to respond to what you said, I agree.
- 59:09[SPEAKER_01]: I love singleton the person.
- 59:11[SPEAKER_01]: His love for football, his love for the Broncos, his love for Denver, his cancer battle that he overcame, I will always as a man.
- 59:21[SPEAKER_01]: respect and admire Alex Singleton.
- 59:23[SPEAKER_01]: But as a player, we can make these dichotomy here of the difference.
- 59:26[SPEAKER_01]: And he is not that great or transformative as a player.
- 59:30[SPEAKER_01]: As a run defender, okay, fine.
- 59:31[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of running our linebackers are, but he is so brutal in past coverage that it's not even worth an unethpositive.
- 59:39[SPEAKER_01]: It's a net negative.
- 59:40[SPEAKER_01]: for your team.
- 59:41[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm right there with you Eric.
- 59:42[SPEAKER_01]: This is the time to go out and get your linebacker.
- 59:45[SPEAKER_01]: And that's why they don't get us to dec or a running back receiver in the draft at 30, you can fall back and take a linebacker at 30.
- 59:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's still a major area of weakness.
- 59:55[SPEAKER_02]: Well said, buddy.
- 59:57[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you, Eric, bro.
- 59:58[SPEAKER_02]: Appreciate it.
- 59:59[SPEAKER_02]: It's good to see you.
- 1:00:00[SPEAKER_02]: We got the rock thrown down 20.
- 1:00:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, okay.
- 1:00:03[SPEAKER_02]: And you two memberships to folks in the chat.
- 1:00:06[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm sure people who are getting that gift, like perhaps Troy and others are super stoked here.
