- 0:32This is Gracelyn Keller with the Becker's Healthcare
- 0:34podcast, and we are recording live at the
- 0:36thirteenth annual CEO and CFO roundtable.
- 0:40I'm currently joined by Julia Dellet, who is
- 0:42the vice president of marketing communications at UnityPoint
- 0:45Health. So Julia, thanks for being here. I'm
- 0:48gonna have you start off by introducing yourself
- 0:50and telling us a little bit more about
- 0:51your background.
- 0:52Yes. I'm happy to be here. I have
- 0:55been with UnityPoint Health for well over a
- 0:57decade.
- 0:58A little more on the,
- 1:00communications, PR, thought leadership side, but recently took
- 1:04on, you know, all functions of marketing as
- 1:06well.
- 1:08And, my background is in nonprofit work. So
- 1:11I have a lot of experience in large
- 1:12and small communities, just focused on,
- 1:15driving forward mission oriented organizations.
- 1:18Wonderful.
- 1:20So let's start off with growth strategy. Can
- 1:22you expand upon your growth strategy for the
- 1:24next year or two?
- 1:26Yes. So UnityPoint Health is a community based
- 1:30health system across three states,
- 1:32with about 30,000
- 1:33employees. And so one of the things that
- 1:36we're focused on from a marketing communication standpoint
- 1:38is really just
- 1:40understanding how the company strategy is evolving and
- 1:43what those areas of prioritization
- 1:46are. On the marketing side, it's, you know,
- 1:47how do we have a strong brand presence
- 1:50in the marketing campaigns that we do,
- 1:52that help differentiate, you know, the quality of
- 1:55care and the type of care that UnityPoint
- 1:57can offer. And then on the communications and
- 1:59PR side,
- 2:01it's really just, you know, from a workforce
- 2:03standpoint, how do we translate what we're doing
- 2:05from a strategy standpoint
- 2:07to our employees and team members so that
- 2:09they understand what's in it for them,
- 2:13in a more concise way? Because the volume
- 2:15of communications and the pace of change is
- 2:17pretty relentless. I think that's true for all
- 2:19health care systems right now.
- 2:21So across those two functions, really just aiming
- 2:24to help our team members understand what's happening,
- 2:27you know, translate those business initiatives in a
- 2:30way that's impactful,
- 2:31and then stay ahead of the things that
- 2:33are also unexpected.
- 2:35And tell us about the most exciting or
- 2:38impactful initiative or project you're currently working on.
- 2:42So from a a marketing communication standpoint,
- 2:45I don't know if this is exciting, but
- 2:47it's definitely necessary. We're doing a lot of
- 2:49in house cleanup to be as tech forward
- 2:52with our,
- 2:53processes and our trafficking tools,
- 2:56so that we can be more efficient. So
- 2:57that's coming with a level of change management
- 2:59and and redesign. You know, certainly, it will
- 3:01will take us some time, but it's also
- 3:03that we can better serve the organization.
- 3:06Like everybody else, there are a ton of
- 3:08AI tools that are available. So it's really
- 3:11figuring out what makes sense for an organization
- 3:13of our size as it relates to marketing
- 3:15communications,
- 3:17what tools make sense for us to be
- 3:19able to, again, deliver on translating that strategy
- 3:22to our team members on behalf of our
- 3:24patients as well,
- 3:26without getting sucked into, like, the newest trend.
- 3:29Absolutely.
- 3:30And what is the most important thing health
- 3:32care executives should do right now to make
- 3:34sure that their organizations are successful in the
- 3:36future?
- 3:37I've worked with a lot of executives in
- 3:39my career, and the most successful ones not
- 3:42only view marketing communications
- 3:44as a strategic partner, at the table to
- 3:47help provide counsel to them, but also have
- 3:50to be open and nimble in terms of
- 3:52what their executive communication program looks like for
- 3:55them.
- 3:56Some executives
- 3:57are more hesitant. Some are more forward in
- 3:59terms of maintaining that strong internal and external
- 4:02presence.
- 4:02But the reality is,
- 4:04health care executives
- 4:06have to have that presence internally and externally
- 4:09to show up as a confident and humble
- 4:11leader for their organization.
- 4:13Absolutely. Well, Julia, thanks so much for joining
- 4:15me today on the Becker's Healthcare Podcast. Again,
- 4:17we are recording live at the thirteenth annual
- 4:19CEO and CFO roundtable.
- 4:22Thank you.
