- 0:00Speaker 1: Live from the WOR LifeVac studios, The Mark Simone Show. Well,
- 0:07Speaker 1: with us right now, the country's top gossip columnist, the
- 0:11Speaker 1: great journalist, Rob Shooter. Make sure you follow his Substack. Actually,
- 0:15Speaker 1: sign up for his Substack. It's naughty but nice on Substack.
- 0:19Speaker 1: He's got a great YouTube channel. Just type Rob Shooter
- 0:23Speaker 1: into YouTube. He's got a novel out called It Started
- 0:26Speaker 1: With a Whisper. A lot of stuff going on. And
- 0:29Speaker 1: he's with us now. Rob Shooter, how are you doing?
- 0:32Speaker 2: Hey, my friend. It's good to be here. I'm a
- 0:34Speaker 2: busy guy. Busy, busy, busy.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Yes, you are. Hey, is this true, this Harry and Meghan?
- 0:41Speaker 1: They're not coming back here, are they?
- 0:43Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a little bit of a tease, but it's true.
- 0:46Speaker 2: It is true. Let me explain. So Harry and Meghan
- 0:49Speaker 2: are coming back to the USA for the holidays, for Christmas.
- 0:53Speaker 2: They left her mom behind. So when they first moved
- 0:57Speaker 2: to Britain all those years ago, six, seven years ago,
- 1:00Speaker 2: her mom went with them. And they're very, very close
- 1:03Speaker 2: to Doria. And she did not want to return to
- 1:06Speaker 2: Britain with them. And so I think part of their
- 1:08Speaker 2: deal of going back is that she'd get to see
- 1:10Speaker 2: the grandkids. At Christmas time, you know, families on different
- 1:14Speaker 2: coasts in different parts of the country, they get together
- 1:17Speaker 2: at Christmas. And so they are coming back at Christmas,
- 1:20Speaker 2: which makes sense. because the royal family, they go to
- 1:24Speaker 2: Balmoral or Sandringham at Christmas, and I don't think Harry
- 1:29Speaker 2: and Meghan are yet that welcomed back in the family
- 1:33Speaker 2: to get an invite to that, and so they're not
- 1:35Speaker 2: going to be with the royals this year, maybe next year.
- 1:38Speaker 1: So that's the real reason they're coming back, because it
- 1:40Speaker 1: would be embarrassing to be there and not be invited
- 1:42Speaker 1: to the royals.
- 1:43Speaker 2: You'll get to the bottom of it, my friend. That's
- 1:46Speaker 2: basically what I'm trying to say. They are coming back.
- 1:49Speaker 2: They'll be here for a couple of weeks, flying into
- 1:52Speaker 2: California into Montecito, where they've still kept their house. They
- 1:56Speaker 2: have not sold their house yet. And so this trip
- 1:58Speaker 2: to Britain, this relocation to Britain is still a test.
- 2:04Speaker 2: It's a trial run. Until they sell that house, I
- 2:07Speaker 2: don't believe they are moving back full time, coming back
- 2:10Speaker 2: for Christmas, about two weeks, and then they will be
- 2:13Speaker 2: back in the UK.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Well, they couldn't get anything going here in the US
- 2:16Speaker 1: the last couple of years. Nobody was interested. They go
- 2:18Speaker 1: to England, make a big production out of it. Have
- 2:20Speaker 1: they been offered anything over there?
- 2:21Speaker 2: No. No, nothing. It's a disaster.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Nothing.
- 2:25Speaker 2: What he's getting over there, though, is he's treated like
- 2:28Speaker 2: a prince. Here in America, he was a prince. He
- 2:31Speaker 2: was Diana's son. But Americans don't want kings. We got
- 2:35Speaker 2: rid of our British king a long time ago. And
- 2:37Speaker 2: so they don't really bow and scrape and defer to
- 2:42Speaker 2: him as they do in Britain. I'm British. The royal
- 2:46Speaker 2: family over there... is everything. And here in America, there's
- 2:50Speaker 2: great respect for them, a lot of love for the
- 2:52Speaker 2: royal family, particularly Queen Elizabeth. But I don't think he
- 2:56Speaker 2: got the response he wanted in LA. He's back in Britain.
- 3:00Speaker 2: He's going to charity events. He's putting on his medals.
- 3:03Speaker 2: And he is thoroughly enjoying being treated like he is
- 3:06Speaker 2: very special again. So he likes it there. Meghan has
- 3:10Speaker 2: yet to figure out her role over there. She's got
- 3:12Speaker 2: not much going on.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Now, let me ask you a question. When they do
- 3:15Speaker 1: their income tax, on the first question, occupation, what do
- 3:19Speaker 1: they put?
- 3:19Speaker 2: It's interesting. Harry was asked this question, not about his taxes,
- 3:24Speaker 2: but he was asked, what do you do? What's on
- 3:26Speaker 2: your passport? And his first answer is he's a full-time dad.
- 3:31Speaker 2: And his second answer, which is very telling, is he
- 3:34Speaker 2: is a prince of England. Do not forget. that from
- 3:39Speaker 2: the day this little guy was born, people bowed to him.
- 3:43Speaker 2: When he was five years old, grown men, grown women
- 3:47Speaker 2: had to bow and curtsy. That changes the way you
- 3:52Speaker 2: live your life. He's a very entitled guy, and he
- 3:56Speaker 2: expects people to be very deferential towards him, and it
- 4:01Speaker 2: didn't happen here. It does happen in Britain. Oh, all right.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Hey, Saturday Night Live, Dakota Johnson, the host, and Taylor
- 4:09Speaker 1: Swift comes on. I mean, what is this relationship they
- 4:13Speaker 1: have all of a sudden?
- 4:15Speaker 2: Yeah, these two are the new best friends, and the
- 4:17Speaker 2: one that's really seething with jealousy is her old best friend,
- 4:21Speaker 2: Blake Lively. If you remember, Taylor got dragged into Blake
- 4:25Speaker 2: Lively's lawsuit with Justin Baldoni, a sexual harassment, sexual lawsuit
- 4:31Speaker 2: that ultimately was settled but went away. But Taylor and
- 4:35Speaker 2: Blake fell out. It was a public falling out. Blake
- 4:38Speaker 2: was not invited to the wedding. They have not spoken
- 4:41Speaker 2: in a long time. And Taylor now has moved on.
- 4:43Speaker 2: And her new best friend is Dakota Johnson. They have
- 4:46Speaker 2: been friends for a while, but now they are particularly close.
- 4:50Speaker 2: And I'm assuming the reason is because Blake has gone.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Blake and Dakota never really got along that well. And
- 4:57Speaker 2: now that Blake's out of the picture, Taylor's there 24-7.
- 5:00Speaker 2: So it does sting, doesn't it? It must really sting
- 5:03Speaker 2: because On Saturday night, Blake Lively was watching SNL, and
- 5:07Speaker 2: there was her former best friend who has clearly, clearly
- 5:11Speaker 2: moved on with someone new. Wow.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Rob Shooter, this can't be true. You're reporting that Lauren
- 5:17Speaker 1: Sanchez pushing her husband... Jeff Bezos to run for president?
- 5:23Speaker 1: That can't be.
- 5:23Speaker 2: It sounds bizarre. But you know what? I heard 12
- 5:27Speaker 2: years ago that Donald Trump was thinking of running for
- 5:30Speaker 2: president and nobody believed it. Stranger things have happened. And
- 5:36Speaker 2: so Jeff Bezos has arguably started one of the most
- 5:39Speaker 2: successful companies of all time. He knows how to run Amazon.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Lauren is wildly ambitious. I've known her for about 20 years.
- 5:48Speaker 2: She used to be the weekend host of a show
- 5:50Speaker 2: called Extra Extra, which is an entertainment show. And I
- 5:53Speaker 2: used to go to the set with clients and Lauren
- 5:55Speaker 2: was the host. And even back then, we knew she
- 5:58Speaker 2: was wildly ambitious, which is a good thing. I don't
- 6:00Speaker 2: think anybody knew she would end up marrying.
- 6:03Speaker 1: one of the.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Richest men in the world. I spoke to some of
- 6:06Speaker 2: her friends and they said she has been around Trump
- 6:09Speaker 2: and the White House a lot and it is intoxicating.
- 6:12Speaker 2: She was at the inauguration. She was there a couple
- 6:15Speaker 2: of weeks ago for the big state dinner for China
- 6:18Speaker 2: and it is intoxicating. And Lauren has figured out that maybe, maybe,
- 6:24Speaker 2: it sounds crazy, doesn't it? But maybe we could have
- 6:28Speaker 2: a President Bezos. He's certainly got enough money to run.
- 6:31Speaker 2: He doesn't need to raise money. He knows how to
- 6:34Speaker 2: manage a big company. But she's the one that's pushing.
- 6:37Speaker 2: I'm not sure that he's as interested in politics as
- 6:40Speaker 2: she is. And I'm not even sure she's that political.
- 6:43Speaker 2: But she would love to be first, ladies.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Yeah, but you're forgetting a big factor. Donald Trump, love
- 6:48Speaker 1: him or hate him, was an incredible talker. As a
- 6:51Speaker 1: talk show guest, he was the best. He had his
- 6:54Speaker 1: own TV show. He was an incredible speaker. He was
- 6:57Speaker 1: such an unbelievable person. I'm with you.
- 6:59Speaker 2: I'm with you. But you've met these rich people. They
- 7:03Speaker 2: think they are invincible. They think they can do anything.
- 7:09Speaker 2: And they have a level of confidence. Jeff Bezos has
- 7:12Speaker 2: a swagger about him. that a little bald guy shouldn't have. Like,
- 7:16Speaker 2: he just walks like he is a king, and he's
- 7:20Speaker 2: got billions of dollars to back him up. So if
- 7:22Speaker 2: he's got a wife who is pushing him, and he
- 7:26Speaker 2: does listen to Lauren, who knows? You're right, there's a
- 7:30Speaker 2: million reasons. There's nobody like Trump. There'll never, ever be
- 7:34Speaker 2: another Trump in our lifetime. But I do think people
- 7:38Speaker 2: mistake that, and they think... If he can do it,
- 7:42Speaker 2: and he makes it look so effortless, doesn't he? He
- 7:44Speaker 2: makes it look as if it's easy. It's not easy.
- 7:46Speaker 2: It's really, really hard. But the impression he gives is
- 7:50Speaker 2: if I can do it, you can do it. We
- 7:51Speaker 2: know that's not true. I'm not sure Lauren Sanchez knows that.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Yeah, but remember Bloomberg, who's probably better qualified than Bezos
- 7:59Speaker 1: to run. Bloomberg gets in the debate.
- 8:02Speaker 2: And goes, and couldn't talk.
- 8:04Speaker 1: And Bezos is far worse. Bezos, you can't run and
- 8:09Speaker 1: talk like this. Somebody has to tell him.
- 8:14Speaker 2: You're right. Well, this all figures out in the wash,
- 8:17Speaker 2: doesn't it? Now we're at that really exciting time that now,
- 8:21Speaker 2: with a few years left of the Trump presidency, it's
- 8:23Speaker 2: starting to get interesting. Who will run? For a long time,
- 8:26Speaker 2: the Rock. Talks about running the celebrity, the action hero.
- 8:30Speaker 2: I don't think he will. Matthew McConaughey's name has come up.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Trump has opened up politics in the most exciting way.
- 8:38Speaker 2: And now, instead of those old boring families of the
- 8:41Speaker 2: Bushes and the Clintons, who we've just had forever, the Kennedys,
- 8:45Speaker 2: I think we might see some really exciting, some wacky,
- 8:48Speaker 2: some odd, some maybe great. But I think over the
- 8:52Speaker 2: next couple of years, we're going to see a lot
- 8:54Speaker 2: of names thrown into that hat.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm afraid you're right. Hey, before we run out
- 8:57Speaker 1: of time, tell us about your YouTube channel.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Oh, thank you. Thank you, my friend. Yes, I started
- 9:02Speaker 2: a YouTube channel. Friends of mine have YouTube channels, and
- 9:05Speaker 2: they are getting millions and millions of viewers. Now, in Britain,
- 9:09Speaker 2: the BBC is no longer the number one network. YouTube is.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Here in America, YouTube now gets more viewers than ABC, CBS,
- 9:18Speaker 2: and NBC combined. And the luxury of a YouTube channel...
- 9:22Speaker 2: is I can do it in my own living room.
- 9:24Speaker 2: So a couple of weeks ago, I tested out a
- 9:26Speaker 2: morning show, 9 a.m. every morning, five days a week,
- 9:29Speaker 2: 20 minutes of celebrity gossip. It's me at home. It's
- 9:31Speaker 2: me bare bones. It's me and a microphone and a camera,
- 9:34Speaker 2: and we're having so much fun. And so if you're
- 9:37Speaker 2: on YouTube, check out Rob Schroeder Gossip and subscribe, like,
- 9:41Speaker 2: and each morning you'll get a little bit more Yeah,
- 9:43Speaker 2: if you.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Can't do it in the morning, you can just do
- 9:45Speaker 1: it anytime. It's on all day, right?
- 9:50Speaker 2: I used to get up every morning and watch the
- 9:52Speaker 2: Today Show or GMA. And now my life is different.
- 9:56Speaker 2: I consume YouTube. I get a lot of information from YouTube.
- 9:59Speaker 2: More people are watching Jimmy Fallon on YouTube than they
- 10:03Speaker 2: are on TV. YouTube is this amazing place. Because now
- 10:08Speaker 2: if you've got a voice, if you want to do
- 10:10Speaker 2: a show, you can do it. It took me a
- 10:11Speaker 2: little while to build up my courage. I don't want
- 10:13Speaker 2: to do... a show that's not very good. And so
- 10:16Speaker 2: I did some practice runs. I met with some producer
- 10:18Speaker 2: friends of mine and polished it. And then just a
- 10:20Speaker 2: few days ago, we started and today was sort of
- 10:24Speaker 2: like our official launch. So check me out on YouTube,
- 10:27Speaker 2: all your favorite naughty, but nice gossip five days a week.
- 10:29Speaker 1: All right. Go to a Rob shooter gossip on YouTube,
- 10:32Speaker 1: Rob shooter gossip on YouTube. Make sure you sign up
- 10:34Speaker 1: for his sub stack. It's naughty, but nice and sub stack.
- 10:37Speaker 1: And his new novel is already a big seller called
- 10:41Speaker 1: it started with a whisper. You can get that at
- 10:43Speaker 1: Amazon or, wherever you get your books. And Rob Shooter,
- 10:46Speaker 1: great stuff. Thanks for being with us.
- 10:49Speaker 2: I always appreciate you. Take care, my friend. Talk soon.
- 10:51Speaker 2: All right.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Take care. Hey, don't forget, coming up, don't forget, I'm
- 10:56Speaker 1: on 9 to noon, actually, every day. It's three hours now.
- 10:59Speaker 1: If there's anybody that still doesn't know that, the show
- 11:02Speaker 1: starts at 9 a.m. every morning, 9 to noon every day.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Then at 12 noon, Buck Sexton, Clay Travis, you get
- 11:08Speaker 1: two hosts for the price of one and lots of
- 11:11Speaker 1: great stuff there. Three o'clock, you got the most listened
- 11:14Speaker 1: to radio show in America, Sean Hannity. You got Jesse
- 11:17Speaker 1: Kelly every night at six. The very funny Jimmy Fela
- 11:21Speaker 1: every night, nine to midnight. Oh, and of course, don't
- 11:23Speaker 1: forget Curtis Sliwa, Larry Menti, six to nine every morning, 710WOR.
